screaming crying phils stream today was so good.

i love death family with all my heart and the dynamics at play. the absolute soulread when i said that "hes like paranoid in the opposite way that bad is. bad prepares for every possibly situation and makes sure he has every item for it while phil just ensures he never faces bad situations." phil literally talked about this!!!!! he may not be the richest or strongest but he is the most cautious undeniably. AND its completely reasonable! my heart broke when he asked if he was a bad dad cause no!!!! u arent!!!!

phil takes care of 2 eggs practically single handedly and has full responsibility over them. it isnt like babysitting where at the end of the day theres another parent there. despiter this theres also the feeling of guilt that if either of them die he will be letting down missa/wil. so much pressure its no surprise hes so reclusive + hardcore experience makes him more careful than most too. above all he is a SURVIVALIST!

the little insight into chayannes character was so <3333 light of my life, baby boy, cutie patootie. hes soooo phils boy like, theres a thirst for adventure but danger is only so fun. theres a sense of security and stability which is so unique to this family which becomes more obvious when taken away from that environment. THIS IS NOT SAYING THAT THE OTHER FAMILYS ARE BAD! theres just different stability either from riches, preparation or simply more parents. thats THEIR safety net for danger.

the babies understand phils mindset bc they communicate!!!! god i love communication. they understand that they dont have the same freedom as say richas but they completely get it. longterm safety > momentary fun. it sounds bad saying it like that but the eggs dont really care bc they love! this paranoia kept them alive so far and they still have their slice of life moments. i think these 2 have their armour on the most out of any egg and while phil does sometimes remind them to put it on its so rare that they voluntarily take it off outside the bunker.

also! why tf did the code take pictures of phils base? my memory is kinda shit but i swear the code only took pictures of ninho and not peoples actual bases. should we be lookin into that or was it just supposed to lure phil out of his bunker (cause tbh you have to pry that guy away from the safety of his home). anyways if phils base was the only one that the code took pic of excluding ninho.... thats incredibly concerning. if i remember correctly phils base was the first one to be fully reinforced (i think it was actually illegal but the admins were like meh whatever) idk if it has something to do w that or maybe its because chay +lullah homes are more the bunker than ninho? idk youd think it would take pics of like bads base then too. just seemed strange to me

this was such a ramble i just adore family dynamics and phil is shoving them down my throat. i would love if he joined with the lore but his choice i just feel like hes seen a lot that could be relevant + has pretty good theories.

Gun Park ; Park Jonggun x Reader! (headcannons)

A/N: Here's for the delulu simps like me bc why not :) Genre: fluff? (I guess) pairing: character x reader (gender neutral don't mind the pics if you're a dude reading this lol)

Headcannon: I don't really think Gun is affectionate? This may sound off putting for some but I just think he doesn't really care about dating. This man is obsessed with fighting.

But it will be a miracle if you managed to make this gangster fall for you. His type is pretty much someone who is physically strong yet still being fair and just. He really hates bratty and whiny people (except for Goo but he's still an ass tbh).

If you're the soft and quiet type, Gun won't bother you too much. He will just let you be. In fact it's much better like that because he's not really too talkative unless something interesting caught his attention (about gangs and crews to no one surprise). If you're really friendly and somehow bubbly yet act and think in a mature manner in tough situations he might peek a slight interest on you.

If you're physically weaker he won't mind being your personal body guard if you have the power (like money) to pay him off. If you're just acting like a damn coward he won't care in the first place and he'll let you solve your own problems. But if you really need assistance (at some points he does understand that not everybody is able to protect themselves from others) and if he doesn't mind your presence, he'll be willing to kick someone's ass to protect you. And if he sees a potential in your combat skills he would whoop you off in training.

But despite being a fearless monster at times, I do think Gun still likes a partner who still cares for him yet not too clingy. Someone who will be able to show it in their own and unique way is what I mean. I think he'll appreciate it if his partner can handle themselves on their own because he's really busy most of the time. He also finds it attractive when their partner puts effort on everything that they do and not giving up despite their situations getting shitty at times. He thinks that characteristic is one of the things that makes them strong, at least in a mental and emotional way.

If he started catching feelings for you, I'm sorry but it wouldn't be too obvious. It's just Gun being Gun. He's not really the flirty type of guy, but I guess his love language will be acts of service. Examples are when he opens the door for you and letting you walk in first and protecting you from everybody who tries to lay a finger on you. You may think that he's just doing his job, but the more times you spent together his attraction will be a little bit more obvious.

Not really the jealous type but he'll go a bit bonkers when someone tries to talk to you because of their really foul intentions. He'll use that ass as his personal punching bag if they ever tried to touch you. He might get a bit jealous with Goo when the blonde talks to you too much but he doesn't really mind for the most part. He knows that bastard is just messing around.

When Gun confesses to you, he'll be casual and cool about it. There's no hint of nervousness in his voice or body language. And he will talk about his feelings on the most random scenarios which can make you flabbergasted since it's really unexpected tbh. "Y/N, this may sound a bit intriguing but I think I like you in a really different way. You seemed very fascinating and it makes me really excited. I wouldn't mind if I made you my partner right now".

If you don't like him, you may see a bit of a disappointed frown on his lips and he'll apologize for being "rude". However he'll pretty much get over with it and move on. Yes, it's that fast. At least he confessed earlier before his feelings turn more intense. And he'll still be acquaintances with you if you don't mind. But he'll respect your decision if he makes you uncomfortable and he'll get a new job.

BUTTTT, if you REALLY LIKE HIM he'll get a bit surprised that you caught feelings for him. He wouldn't expect someone like you to fall in love with someone like him. And if you somehow see the good in him despite him being a total psycho in fighting, he'll actually appreciate it.

Gun will also appreciate if you cook for him after he's done with work. Fast food and take out taste good but he just thinks it's really unhealthy if he eats too much calories and fat. So preparing simple dishes is enough for him.

Not really a fan of PDA and public dates? Gun knows that you and him are dating. So it doesn't mean that both of you always need to go outside and waste your money in Disney Land 💀. But if you're pushy about it he can't do anything about it since in some ways he does want you to enjoy even if he's hating every single inch being in a childish amusement park. So expect him to have that poker face for a very long period of time lmao. But still, he probably enjoys it in some way and finds it a bit hilarious when you screech at the top of your lungs at rides and he's just staring at you like -_- "It's not even that scary" "SHUT UP I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF A HEART ATTACK THERE!". Knowing that this bastard loves thrills that will make him enliven, he wouldn't hesitate to put you in situations that will shock you in a good and bad way (like letting you ride a roller coaster) but he's not that boneheaded to put you in potential harm and push you off to your limits (unlike Goo who is a crack headed bastard).

He's not really empathetic but he will try to understand your situations when you're not emotionally well. If you're upset because of someone else's fault Gun will probably confront the person (even beating them if they tried to fight back and not being honest). But if he feels like you need to work on yourself, prepare to hear some constructive criticisms on his side. His words might sound harsh but he's trying his best to help you out, so don't take anything personally in a negative way.

Gun wouldn't really mind cuddling with you. It also calms his mind and body. And for him, it feels a bit different. Almost weird if you asked me. Now, don't get me wrong in some type of way he does like spending some time with you especially when he has his day off (which rarely happens my apologies). He's just really used with moving his body and beating 500 or more enemies. But he does find it a bit relaxing to get a break with you even for a single day.

Overall he's not the romantic boyfriend but not the worst if you're not ticking him off. It can be a challenge to get along with Gun with the first place so good luck with that.

A/N: I'll probably make a NSFW with Gun but I still haven't finished UI Daniel so if you don't mind, you can be patient about me procrastinating lol good night.

Invented being a sassy boyfriend.

Everything the other ones do, he does, and then some.

But if I had to pick one thing that just screams Beomgyu it would be sucking his teeth when he’s annoyed.

He probably doesn't even realize he’s doing it so then when you call him out he’s like, “No, I literally didn’t.”

Also just says the most outrageous princess-behavior-ish things ever.

“Okay, I gtg get my beauty sleep in. Byeee!”

Like the pretty boys in movies, if you’re playfighting he’ll go, “Not my face!!!”

Drama queen. Always has to add a little flair no matter the situation.

if you're watching a sad movie together, he might start sobbing dramatically and saying things like, "this is too much for me to handle!" or "i can't take the heartbreak!" even if it's not that emotional of a scene.

Or asking you to play a game with him so he could deliberately beat you, and then getting all mad when you beat him, “I love you, a lot, so I was just letting you win..”

Taehyun

Sarcasm

Enough sarcasm and snarky comebacks to drive you crazy.

His smart mouth makes you want to smack him sometimes.

Also a dirty-look giver.

Picturing this exact scenario rn: You guys go out to eat, he gets something that looks good, and you ask, “Can I try it pleaassseeeee??”

Cue -_- “Are you serious.”

Don’t even try catching him off guard because he’ll come up with some sarcastic comeback in an instant.

I also think he would be mature when arguing but he could petty really quickly. Especially in a situation where you both know that you’re in the wrong.

“Ok, y/n, list one thing that justifies this situation.” Followed by silence for a solid minute. “Mmmhmm, right, nothing.”

Or if you say something wrong, he’ll just go, “No, that’s not right,” and then not fucking correct you and tell you why it isn’t right.

When you spill something or unintentionally make a mess, he’ll give you a round of applause before going to help you. (I do this tbh…)

Huening Kai

You learn early on that he has an attitude problem.

He also reads into things too much.

So if you give him a short answer, he thinks you’re giving him an attitude, and he fights fire with fire.

Tries soooooo hard to act like he doesn’t gaf about anything

“Kai, what do you want to eat? I’m about to order.”

“Ugh.. I don’t care….. like I guess some ramen or something would be good but like I don’t care…..”

“So, you want Ramen?”

“I mean I guess that sounds good, I don’t care but yeah it sounds good.”

Classic arms crossed hip popping mom pose.

He's a master of the eye roll and will do it often, especially when he thinks someone is being ridiculous or when you're being too extra.

But god forbid you call him extra, he might actually have an aneurysm.

The type to send you videos on TikTok and be annoyed if you just heart them but don’t give him an actual reaction.

In his mind, he is literally the next Christian Dior, and he’ll spend time putting an outfit together and act like he doesn’t care when you give him a compliment.

“Oh? This old thing? I just pulled out whatever from my closet, you know..”

But if you criticize him in anyway shape or form, he'll go off on a tangent about how he's a trendsetter and you just don't understand his vision.

Why don’t you like your least favorite campaign in rw?

Spearmaster is just. I dont like it so bad. Most of this is btw not objective critisism but just stuff I personally don't like for reasons varying from pretty valid to plain stupid.

there' just way too many moments that I find frustrating and not fun. Sure, you could say skill issue and that I should just get better at the game, but

I did this with chaos + enemy randomizer, I make myself suffer in this game for fun and Spearmaster just hits different. (also yes I'm just taking a chance to bring up this screenshot again because I kinda slayed)

random, but this is the only time I get to mention I was so excited at the start of the campaign, just to get upset upon realizing cool new starting region is just Outskirts, the first few rooms made me hope for a mix of Shaded, Drianage and Superstructure kinda region. I guess seeing what's behind the Surv/Monk starting pipe is cool, but I hoped for something different. Also sad you can't go back there.

The mechanic is nice ig, I like killing things, holding two spears is cool ig, but tbh, a pebbles and a spear is even more effective in most situations. The way Spearmaster gets food is pretty cool and very unique, but I do miss munching on corpses. Not having a stomach slot isn't a big deal, until you remember Spearmaster has a bunch of unique lore pearls bc nobody else has access to pre-collapse Moon. Imo it's much much worse than the story pearl.

Speaking of, the story pearl. It's whatever, don't care, prior to Spearmaster I played Hunter bringing both the pearl and the neuron to Moon and it was much more difficult, as Spearmaster I just used a passage. What IS a problem tho, is having to go between iterators back and forth. I wanted to know what Pebbles was talking about, so I went to Moon first, then I had to go to Pebbles to get top surgery, then I had to go back to Moon again to give her the pearl, and then I had to go to Sky Islands, which is also going past Pebbles through the Precipice.

The spawns are brutal, which is not an issue itself, I liked Artificer's camapaign a lot. The issue id that it feels "bullshit" brutal instesd of "challenging" brutal.

The regions are also not something I enjoy. Past Garbage Wastes? Better as Artificer with brief acid immunity and awesome mobility [and high threat level to compensate]. The only really good part is build-a-ladder room. Waterfront facility? It's whatever, and again better as Artificer because I can make shortcuts myself, as a little treat. any wall is scaleable and gap is crossable [unverified information], the Precipice is bad. Tight jumps, no shelters, missing a jump.is very punishing and a lot of threats on top of that. Yes I know you can bring a grappleworm, but I hate them so I'm not doing that. Moon's Underhang? Struts, I believe. Also very fucking bad, just. she has an awful infestation she should get it checked out. The only and only thing that made me get get that awya from me mod and remove spiders. Also it's hard to navigate and it doesn't have enough shelters to compensate. Moon's superstructure? I don't like superstructure regions because zero-g is the worst mechanic every concieved for rain world. also getting food from neurons is annoying. I know I don't have to I can just go through Superstructure in one cycle. but I still hate it.

The lore? Don't give a shit honestly, I was kinda hyped for the broadcasts but then I just didn't care, I was just hoping I can skip them faster. I don't care about iterator drama stfu!!!! Like it's cool and all. in theory. but in reality I really just ended up not caring at all. Call me a fake fan but I wish they just weren't in there or there was a lot less.

Spearmaster is a lot more enjoyable if you disregard the camapign and do whatever. But at that point I'd rather play slugcats I enjoy more anyway. No dual-wield and no unlimited spears isn't a deal breaker

Makoto Naegi vs Ayin

Reasons for being generic + Propaganda below

Makoto Naegi

Reasons:

BOOOORING GENERGIC FLUFFY BROWN HAIR. BOOOO. BORING!

Lol he is literally normal in a group of weirdos . His only defining traits are an ahoge and green jacket. If you put him in a room of generic anime boys he would Not stand out. He would be lost :(

sorry for submitting a danganronpa character but his whole thing is that he's average. he says at the beginning of the game that even among the average, he's completely average. he's the one character in the game who doesn't have a real talent, having only have gotten into hope's peak academy because of luck, being the ultimate lucky student

Look at him. His talent is luck. Literally. Only normal person at the academy because he's literally just some guy and everyone else is "the best of the best" at something. Spends a lot of the first chapter (and a little of the next ones) being like "I'm literally just some guy"

He is a highschool student who describes himself as average in everything, liking whatever's popular, has messy brown hair and a hoodie, and is the protagonist despite only getting into the situation in-game out of luck. He gets two female love interests, he is the ultimate generic anime-style protagonist. He does become less average in the finale of danganronpa v1 and danganronpa v2, but until then he is the most generic boy one can be, and that generic boy swag is what somehow gets him women.

That's the #1 thing people know about him. His whole thing is that he's just A Guy. He's what you think of when you think of generic anime protagonist. He's got the power of friendship. He's handheld by the smarter/more powerful characters to a point where it's unnecessary but still ends up the leader because he has Hope and Believes in his Friends. He's just a decent guy! Also, my favorite character.

I mean. C'mon. His entire introduction is surrounding the fact that he's so average and boring that even among average people he'd be considered too average, his character development is the usual "With the power of friendship we can overcome anything!!!!", and his personality is that "nice mc with no backbone" type. He even has that generic anime dub voice

Propaganda:

he's pretty funky

he's so silly tbh that's all also i actually like him more than hajime

He's bisexual and a short king (who is unfazed by the fact that he is short; unlike many characterswho are short he never mentions it once and I'm 98% sure that if someone else brought it up he'd just be like "ok...?"), also a very decent guy

He acts pretty adorable, and I find it hilarious how other characters outshine him in protagonist potential, which makes him an even more fun protagonist in my opinion.

His whole thing is that he's just A Kid in a peer group of what's basically super-kids. He's the epitome of what you think of when you think of generic male anime protagonist: - He's got the power of friendship. - He's handheld by the smarter/more powerful characters to a point where it's unnecessary. - Acts as the polite straight man to the insane personalities around him in an "well... whatever you say then 😅" kinda way. - Obviously in way over his head but still ends up the leader because he has Hope and Believes. - Also because he is the main/POV character and so inexplicably gets to figure out and survive things. - He has a little sister and parents who look just as generic as him.

he is also portrayed to be clumsy and flustered easily. Which feels like a very Generic Anime Teenager trait to have.

Ayin

Reasons:

You know that one mspaint shoulder grip image? It's him in there. They don't know it's Ayin. Also he is essentially written to be the "self insert" protag in his game.

Black hair. Pale skin. His only unique physical trait is his eyes which are like yellow i guess.

you know the black haired guy from this meme (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FukUjzSX0AM7KDR?format=png) that goes around every so often? that's ayin. no one knows it's ayin but it's him. also literally just look at him and tell me he doesn't look like he would fit in while sitting next to kirito sword art online like look me in the eye and say that to my face.

very generic from the black hair, but he has gold eyes and wears a labcoat. his other clone which is Manager X that you play as throughout lobotomy corporation is so so generic that he needs a paper taped to the front of his face to distinguish him apart from ayin.

Messy black hair with bangs?? I'm sorry but it is literally just him. Just a guy with black hair and black clothes in a white labcoat. That is it. Do you know the ms paint shoulder-gripping meme? The guy with black hair with his back turned to the viewer is Ayin. Like I cannot stress enough that the meme was originally created as a piece of badly drawn Lobotomy Corporation fanart. As proof, if you compare the hair to his in-game sprite it is literally just him.

The only colour in this guy’s colour scheme apart from black and white is the gold in his irises and even then in many cutscenes those are hidden. He looks as if some random asshole was chosen from a crowd shot and was forced to become the protagonist that’s how bland this guy looks

Look at him. If you see fanart of him when you're not specifically searching for it you can never tell that it's him because he looks like every other generic male character. (Though I must admit the coat saves him in that regard.) Also [MAJOR SPOILERS] there have been quite a few versions of him running around in some form or another, which could be a plus if you take "generic" to mean "a dime a dozen".

His hair is generic, his clothes are generic, you can see a picture of him and you can never know if it's him or a random scientist without clarification

Propaganda:

He is frequently mistaken for Kim Dokja (shoutouts if he also gets submitted) from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and I think the fandom overlap between them is very funny. All that aside, I think Ayin is very neat as a character :)

Hes literally just a guy.

The world's most pathetic abusive father. Was too head over heels for a girl so he followed her to the ends of the earth to help fulfill her dreams. She was obsessed with trying to save people and while he didn't really care he wanted to be with her. They did save people for a while but then she "died" and he got like, super obsessive about trying to bring her back. Completely took advantage of the man that was obsessed with him this entire time as they worked to resurrect her. Eventually managed to create an AI implanted into her body only to get pissed off when she didn't have the same personality and mannerisms as she did. Proceeded to refuse to interact with said AI outside of moments where it was absolutely necessary and instead the man that was obsessed with him ended up having to do all the actual work to take care of her. Said AI works at his Delusions Will Murder You Facility to generate a profit for him because why the hell not. Man that was obsessed with him also got turned into an AI because why not. He did all this while looking like the most generic blank slate of a character imaginable.

he looks pretty average and can easily be mistaken for kim dokja from omniscient readers viewpoint if he gets in it together with dokja it would be super duper funny.

Shoulder grip image guy

I haven't finished playing LobCorp yet, nor have I touched the sequel Library of Ruina, but already I want to dropkick this man.

Iconic for being the guy that’s gripped by the shoulders in that one meme that no one recognises. He’s committed so many atrocities he’s my favourite criminal scientist

this character is so generic that most people dont realize they've even seen him. he's been in 1 or 2 popular memes and nobody registers him as a character they just accept him as a "generic guy". it's a little funny

The whole situation bring him a headache. He is happy with you being there, but the whole thing is complicated

He is more concerned than anything cause, what did his Father do to make another angel fall? Especially not fall completely be stuck in a half demon half angel state

Depending on what you want he can let you stay in that state or help you complete the process of turning into a demon. He is worried that remaining in that state might have a negative effect on you in the long run

Mammon

Lucifer still makes him watch over you at the beggining because you being stuck between fallen angel and demon might prove dangerous to you in the future.

At first he will bitch about it in typical Mammon fashion but when he catches feelings for you it's over for him.

He actually helps you accomodate to life in Devildom. Even tho you are not fully a demon yet it's clear you're not going back to Celestial Realm, so he might as well present you your new home.

Most likely to pick a fight with someone if they dare say something about you not being fully demon

Really curious on what made you fall from grace, after all it's not often that angels fall and leave the Celestial Realm

Leviathan

He is so jealous of you at first. Why did you get both angel and demon characteristics?! Halo, horns, tail, black wings that just screams main character.

With your unique condition your the center of attention and that means you're often surrounded by others and his introvert heart can't handle that.

He really gathered enough courage to talk with you when stumbled across a character that it reminded him of you and decided to show you. After all, seeing someone that is in the same situation as you might bring some comfort.

What were the chances for the new exchange student to be a fallen angel? Guess he still remains the only pure demon in the whole house.

He is actually quite curious about your situation since it's pretty unheard of. It's not like angels fall to often, but to actually get stuck in the process of turning into a demon is a whole new thing.

He has quite the variety of questions he wants answears for. Do you have both angelic and demon powers? What is the full potential of your form? He would ask for the reason on why you fell since it may have something to do with you not turning into a full demon, but he decided against doing it.

After a while he starts to feel a little left out. Everyone is a fallen angel besides him, so the rest of the household has this life experience that he can't never understand

He will ask you quite often to turn into your fallen angel form. He uses the excuse that he needs to study it but in reality he just finds it beautiful.

Asmodeus

Man is over the moon when he sees you. That look of your is unique and he can't get enough of that.

He will take it upon himself to buy you the best outfits that will fit with both the angelic and demonic air that you got.

He offers to help you take care of your tail, wings, horns and halo. With so much stuff to take care of is nearly impossible to do it all on your own. He isn't trying to seduce you or anything, he is genuinely worried you will not be able to properly take care of your new form.

Will ask you about all the gossip from the Celestial Realm. He hasn't been there in centuries so he has to catch up on all the drama over there.

Beelzebub

Actually gets concerned when he learns that you're a fallen angel. Did something happen in the Celestial Realm? He knows that falling from grace is no joke so he takes upon himself to check on you from time to time

In a way, not fully turning into a demon from the get go might be for better, at least that's what he thinks. This way you'll be able to get more familiar with devildom and wrap your head around the whole situation before your body transforming into something different.

Makes sure you are well feed, in his mind, keeping up a form with so many things on it has to drain your energy.

Doesn't ask the reason of your falling from grace, he knows from person experience that it might include some traumatic memories.

Belphegor

Ok, but if we switched canon MC with this MC how would the game work? I guess Belphegor wouldn't really have a reason to hate them because they are anything but human.

He might even open up to you more, after all you should the know the pain of falling and all the problems from Celestial Realm.

Outside of the whole 'belphie wants to destroy humans and is locked in a stinky attic' he might have an experience to bond over with you.

He won't press you about your past, why you ended up as you are now and so on but would still like to hear.

He will also use you as a pillow and claim that because you are so unique you are also more comfortable

Diavolo

This was not how the exchange program was supossed to go-

At the same time he couldn't turn a blind eye to you either. You were literally a fallen angel stuck in the process of becoming a demon, so in one way or another you were his responsability.

After making sure you weren't in any danger from being stuck in the process of turning into a demon he welcomed you to Devildom. This reminds him of a less brutal version of his meeting with Lucifer after his fall.

To say he is curious would be an understatement. He will bombard you with question about how your powers work, if you are considered and angel, demon or something else. He often asks you to reveal your fallen angel form

He made you take part in the exchange program as a way to get used to the Devildom. Even tho you are basically a resident of Devildom you still count as someone with fresh experience from the Celestial Realm.

Barbatos

He did not exactly saw this turn of events coming but he still acted composed. Unless you knew him very well you would think he knew that this would happen for a long time.

He took care of the more tiresome paperwork and work. After all, if you were to be considered both a citizen of Devildom and an exchange student, a lot of preparation was needed.

He didn't comunicate too much with you, always letting Diavolo do the talking while he served tea. That was until one day when he surprised you with some celestial realm sweets. He figured you still missed aspects from that place, even tho you left.

It takes you a while to realize all the small gestures Barbatos did behind your back that would make your accommodation to your new home go as smooth as possible.

Solomon

He was expecting to go to RAD with another human but he can't say he is dissapointed in the turn of events.

Same as Satan, be prepared to be studied and asked a lot of question. He can get rather lost when it comes to anything magical so you would have to remind him to take it slow.

While he did study you and your condition he also made sure to actually get to know you as a person. He would ask one question about your magic only to follow up with a question about your favourite food.

I don't care if you are a fallen angel stuck in the process of turning into a demon, you are still not surviving his cooking. End of story.

Ngl, he will try to make a pact with you. I mean, you are in the process of becoming a demon, so he should be able to make a pact with you. Why not try it.

Simeon

Ok this is awkward cause you two literally saw each other a week ago back in the Celestial Realm. Imagine his shock when he found out about the news and your new form.

He knew things were not great for you back there, but he didn't realize it was so bad to the point it would make you fall from grace. He honestly starts feeling guilty about not being there for you

He tries to help not feel homesick for the Celestial Realms. He knows that the others got your back in other aspects, so he tries to help you ease your mind after the whole ordeal.

He is quite shaken at first cause he didn't saw anyone else fall since the Celestial War but he quickly gets over it.

He might or might base a character on you after seeing your halo, horns, tail, wings, literally the new you. As along as your happy in Devildom that's all that matters for him.

(Bonus) Luke

He is absolutely flabbergasted at the news.

You are the first angel that fell during his time. The shock is too big to actually understand your situation.

At first he stays away from you out of fear. In his kid mind the Celestial Realm is perfect so why else would an angel fall unless they were bad!

He will start getting over this thinking and start getting closer to you. Congrats! You got a new sibling!

greetings all i've been taking ttime /offline/ to reflect upon my inner self its been rly helpful i will continue a little longer.. I got into this state ovr the past few months where i felt like i had to fill every empty moment w someone elses thoughts, or beautiful stimulating imagery, any time i was bored or uncomfortable i just wanted to scrooooollllll . . . i started to feel like i was losing mysedf @_@ & losing myself ON purpose, at that

lately i began to long for this feeling i felt as a teen, b4 smartphone was everywhere, when i used to jst have to like. stare at the wall for long periods or look out the window and retreat into contemplation or fantasies to occupy myself. like in the ambient moments of waiting. or if i didntwant to think that day, i wld invent a task for myself , draw, go for a walk, ask my friend to hang out, find stuff to take photos of.. the internet was at it's most fun cus it was reserved for when u had time to be at the computer so it felt like more of a treat instead of being~everything~

it kinda hit me like oh i can pretty easily feel that way again ! just got to sternly banish the phone. And let me tell u it feels reallll niiice....i been playinggg all day long tbh i been having a blast. granted my reality has improved a lot recently so its easier to disconnect, but yea i duno its like dangg things r looking up & i want to b present for this part of my life. :*

its freaky how even holding the phone is so addicting?? does anyone else have that? i have rly restless hands so i noticed them searching for that thingy to hold. like i dont even think usning the internet is That harmful its just better left to computer-moments. i dont plan on ever stopping posting cus i looove posting i just cant b so *online* rn i cant b as engaged w "feeds" im burnt outtt

Soo lets see, some stuff i been up tooo ummm: i DEEP CLEANED my room / rearranged for better feng shui, added new pages to my website, work on music every day, yoga every day, started figure drawing class(!!), going strong w herbal tea regiment, joirnalling.. playing acnl evry night ^^ talking to my mom and grandma a lot which has been rly sweet and new for me. oh & pochita's eyes healing up perfect after her surgery a few weeks ago~~

thats pree much all the update i have for now.. tldr need to get serious about making sure my thoughts r my own & keeping grounded in reality. hope everyone having a pleasant full moon's experience tonight ^^ Since its Wolf's Moon maybe try howling at it..

Usually I'm a little hesitant whenever it comes to bots/ghosts/ais. They're pretty much a hit or miss experience for me. Like don't get me wrong I understand they're not gonna be perfect buuuuttt, sometimes the occ-ish-ness can be a little too much.

god the idea of all of class 77 just having this weird special bond with eachother is so special to me 😭😭 i do wonder, though- given all of them are dealing with a LOT, and recovery isn't pretty, do you think fights/kind of lashing out would ever happen? if so, with who, and how do you think the group would handle that kind of stuff?

Oh for SUUUURE I dont go into it as much, because I too love people being special to each other and the sweetness of it, but these are messy people in uniquely messy situation so for sure they're gonna clash

Like, no WAY Sonia and Souda don't have a huge blowout at some point, maybe before anyone starts waking up even. Sonia deserves to have a moment where she just fuckin yells at him and lets it all out and makes him take her seriously enough to apologize and think about himself, and then they can continue being their own weird brand of friends.

Fuyuhiko still has anger issues, even though he's trying hard to be a kinder person, so he's definitely gonna have moments of snapping at people. I think he's a little too cowed to be arguing with Mahiru, but I could see him having it out with Hiyoko once or twice. I also think things might be a bit tense between him and Peko while Peko adapts to their new non-indentured friendship.

And yeah Hiyoko still has a major attitude problem and tbh, TBH, I think she deserves to get a little smack of "Not Acceptable" consequences. I think she might have a fight at Fuyuhiko, and OOF... Mikan. I think those two just need to be kept away from each other for a while after waking up, possibly the closest thing the group gets to repeating the murder part of the game. Mahiru employed to keep an eye on Hiyoko and Hajime keeping an eye on Mikan, shit probably gets real tense.

I think Impostor is... not NOT mad at Teru, but calm about it, so there's no huge fight, just cold shoulders and awkwardness.

And then there's Nagito. Yknow. Hes a whole topic in himself, I'd imagine Teru doesn't feel super warm towards him and there's the really bad tension between him and Hajime too. Hajime *would* sort of be keeping an eye on him, but. That's not good for Hajime's own psyche, so he is forcibly replaced by various others.

That's just already-established grievances. However, based on just. Unfortunate clashing;

Fuyuhiko has anger issues, Souda has some history of abuse. They probably need to find a balance there, where Souda never actually feels unsafe and Fuyuhiko manages to let out steam without being taken too seriously. He also might clash with and need to watch himself around Mahiru and Mikan.

TeruTeru gets sat the FUCK down and told that if he crosses people's boundaries, there will be Consequences. ESPECIALLY if he tries any shit with Akane or Mikan.

Hiyoko does not get to be Like That with Mikan anymore. She tries, just as a first reaction (her attitude is probably a defense mechanism and she does feel unsafe around Mikan), but it's not allowed to go as far as it used to. Not with anyone else either. Also Mikan probably needs to keep a distance herself.

I've talked about Mikan on her own before and the potential of her being s more complex case than the rest, on account that she might remember her entire time with Junko and not just gradual bits of it. If so, I made / am making the little Eye Yoink comic bits, which would probably be the most serious conflict. I'd just imagine that she's kind of .. generally unstable, and shouldn't be left alone with anyone too long. I kind of like the idea that she like.... well if she's the only one who fully remembers what things were like in school, that's already very alienating, and she might try to intentionally trigger other people's memories (maybe not even out of malice, just desperation and wanting someone else to Get It). But that might be a big problem for people who are just not ready to remember all that stuff. People who are already a bit grey on the moral spectrum (Fuyuhiko, Hiyoko, Peko) and people who have a hard time dealing with who they used to be (Nekomaru, Gundham, Sonia... kind of everyone tbh but some are better at compartmentalizing).

FSR I've just decided that Gundham is in a physically bad condition when he wakes up, and ofc Akane. That would probably be a bit rough to deal with, two people who base a lot of their self-worth on being strong (very different ideas of strength though). That's more of an internal struggle that might have some collateral damage but still. I can see them getting frustrated and lashing out at people like Nekomaru and Ibuki, who have obvious and abundant energy and are more okay with their unfamiliar bodies.

Ryota is just generally Anxious around absolutely everyone. Thankfully Impostor is very protective of him and takes good care of him, and people like Ibuki and Akane are quick to sort of forcefully adopt him, but I'll bet there's moments where he just locks himself in his room for a couple of days because Fuyuhiko yelled at him or Hiyoko called him a smelly shrimp boy or Gundham cursed him or something.

Nagito needs to curb The Way He Talks about stuff, at least a little, because it tends to send people dangerously close to to a bad place. He only wants what's best for everyone!...kinda? But he tends to just give off the opposite energy. Also boy needs to learn some self worth. So for his sake and everyone else's, he needs some mental assistance, but the person most qualified for that is the person that he clashed with the very most. I dont know what the solution to that is lol its probably an ongoing conflict

The good thing is, there's many of them! So I think whenever there is a big fight or a lot of conflict, someone can always step up for both parties and help keep the peace, without disrupting their routine too much. No one ever needs to be left out, at least.

Thinking about Reploids...

Caver Kanger Mouse's presence around a human at their time of death ends up becoming the main thing that sets off his descent. Pulled into the court where they label the more politically charged reploids as potential mavericks, he had to plead to those above him not to blame him for the accident. (It was a cave-in tbh)

While right in that he was innocent from harming a human, the manner of which he still broke a law of robotics was clear - "A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm." He has a problem with processing risk, which is part of his abilities as a cave spelunking assistant. The risk was too great, and rather than stopping the human from advancing into the cave, froze out of "fear". (emotions in reploids was still new at this time - something that is never really explained in the series is how each reploid responds to feeling emotions for the first time, as none of them are ever given the chance to experiment with these things as infants, since they never *are* infants).

I'd imagine that the earlier models made based on X's schematics are not as tweaked as the ones we see later in the actual game entries. This is all functioning under the assumption that robots in Megaman's time were simply emulating emotions in order to properly communicate with humans. But they were limited in what they could emulate. This presents the definitive line between X and Megaman - not just free speech, but true emotion. X functions under his own rules, and likely the Laws of Robotics, while Megaman functions in a semi-free manner under the orders of Dr. Light. I can't really explain it well because I'm extremely stupid, but the gist is - whatever Megaman felt was fake, whatever X felt is real.

Expecting a reploid, specifically an earlier model, to be able to handle raw emotions logically upon first being felt is a sort of story writing overstep. There's a lot of details in the games that suggest that replicated X's effectiveness in being as human as possible, is difficult or impossible. If they couldn't even create a reploid that could balance when wartime was necessary and when peace was the better option at this point in time, then there had to be some sort of evolution in how reploids handled emotions.

Zero's case specifically was unique. I don't think upon initial creation that he had the ability to feel and process emotions on the level of X. He might have! There are people who suggest that Zero's schematics are based on those stolen from Dr. Light (though I think I've seen his internals and they look pretty different...). Because we see Zero in Power Fighters 2, but not X, I'm unsure how true this is. There could very well be a situation where Zero and X were made separately with no real borrowing from each other, since we also know that Dr. Wily was equally as intelligent as Dr. Light.

I don't know. I don't like Classic Megaman LOL. It's all over the place so I'm just going based on the few games that actually did have plot (that I've played... somewhat.) I'm an old fogy (not as old as most Classic fans though) so my memory escapes me. Not trusting the wikis because I have seen some... things... that compromise its validity. (COUGH the mangas being suggested as canon ever COUGH)

ANYWAYS. Back to the reploid theories. They're advanced beings, but are flawed as they're creations of mankind. Like the robot masters before them, they likely had to undergo a series of improvements before they were considered viable as equals (in, what, MMZ?). As mentioned before, Zero's case is unique. There is a bit of a trope where a virus can rattle things in a machine's brain to give it emotions on par with humans (seen in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Dramatical Muder, Cafe Enchante...). I think it's bizarre. However! If a stroke can cause a human to gain a talent they never had before, perhaps there's some validity in it. Let's say Zero was nothing smarter than a mechanaloid in terms of emotional intelligence. Let's say that Zero's programming was made in a way that fixed whatever problems Bass may have had (such as disobeying orders). The virus that was intentionally (???) included in Zero might have locked him to this sort of mental state.

So, really quickly, Bass was an interesting case. He was an asshole. A creation (I believe) entirely made by Dr. Wily, probably ripping off Megaman's designs, seemed to have more flexibility in his mental processes than Megaman did. He could get mad, he had an attitude, etc. He had only one command given to him by Dr. Wily - to destroy Megaman. But he did a lot of other things, didn't he? He showed a degree of jealousy and scorn at the idea that Dr. Wily had another project that he was working on (Power Fighters 2) and I think that says volumes. He's not created to mimic the experience of having a child. He's not made to be someone's friend. He's a killing machine who is for some reason giving his opinions. Opinions. Megaman's dialogue typically had a one-note feel about them from what I recall. "Fighting is not necessary" (really following Laws of Robotics 1 and 3), and "Wily you have gone too far!" (following Dr Light's direction to stop Wily). What would Dr. Wily have to order Bass to do in order to get him to act in the way that he typically did? One might suggest Protoman had a sense of emotion as well, but I think that logic is... moreso tied to the mangas which I am pretending do not exist for Classic or MMZ. He seemed confused and aimless, if anything.

So back to Zero. A creation of Wily's, released who knows when, in reference to when X was awakened from whatever sleep Dr. Light put him in. The timeline seems scrambled in the PSP remake of X1. We can assume Zero was found after X? Maybe? ???? Was he put into a slumber like X or was he going around the entire time, only stopping occasionally to recharge? We just don't know!

At least, I don't know.

Zero and X being the bases (in a way) for the reploids (replicated androids) that came after them left humanity in a state where they had a bunch of knockoff Gucci merchandise running around. Zero's brain, organically being rewritten by the virus... leaving... his mind? I don't know how that works - And X having been polished until a man died and somewhat after that allowed them to escape the complications that the modern day ripoff had. Neither of them were afflicted by close proximity to other infected reploids. The virus didn't seem like it ever really affected them. X5 suggested otherwise very slightly, but that situation had to be set up in a VERY specific manner in order to happen.

And then X dies and Zero outlives him and still never really gets the virus after that. Zero was old as actual shit and yet had more emotional stability than a reploid made a mere 10 years prior. (Then again Copy X was made by a mere child so of course it had issues) But MMZ reploid mentalities are a whole other can of worms.

For the sake of storytelling, I will assume that initial reploids had emotional stability problems. They either didn't feel enough or felt too much. The ones that felt too much and acted on the newly acquired "impulse" emotion are then set up to be great hosts for maverick viruses or political maverick statuses (I guess like Boomer Kawanger).

okay this is going to be a long one so i’ll add a cut!!

also though i love to ramble, i am bad at explaining why i like things so just a warning, though i’ll try to be as articulate as possible

i’ll give the most common answer first - he’s a relatable character. especially as someone with autism, i see a lot of autistic traits in him to the point i wrote a whole essay on why i think he has autism. his struggle with being outcasted and seen as this weird monster is also relatable, which is a huge part of what drew me to him in the first place. the sense of feeling dehumanized and ostracized due to some inherent strangeness others seem to sense? relatable. very, unfortunately, relatable.

secondly, he’s been a huge comfort character to me for so long. i was a little scared to go into depth about this one due to a fear of judgement, but like. this is a blog on tumblr dedicated to screaming about shadowsight run by the person who screams in the warrior cats instagram’s comments about shadowsight, so i don’t think anyone comes here for normalcy. but, ever since lost stars was released, he’s been a huge comfort. i was going through a lot of the same things as him around the time it was released - like i said earlier, being constantly ostracized and outcasted in school due to being seen as “weird”. this eventually led to me daydreaming about shadowsight comforting me a lot, to the point it’s pretty much a part of my daily routine. even just looking at pictures of him makes me feel happy and comforted. this has genuinely helped me through tons of difficult situations, imagining having shadowsight there to be my friend and comfort me. it’s like, no matter what changes, shadowsight is always there for me, you know? he’s just a huge comfort.

thirdly, of course, his character arc is just interesting and compelling!! it’s one of the most unique plots in warriors in my opinion, which is why i really don’t get why people compare him to alderheart??? that gripe aside, he’s interesting to read about, i love reading about him, he’s interesting to me. i want to know his thoughts on everything and it genuinely saddens me how we’ll never get to read his pov again!!!!

my fifth reason kind of ties into the comfort character thing - this is one of those things i really only talk to close friends about because some people just don’t get it, but i trust people here enough. his personality makes me so happy. he’s so sweet, selfless, kind and caring, he’s brave despite his anxieties, i just really want him as a friend 😭 like, you ask me which fictional character i would befriend in a heartbeat, i’m picking shadowsight. i feel like he would be very sweet and understanding but also fun and interesting to talk to. i just want to give him a hug so badly….

ofc, another very common reason, is he evokes sympathy from me!! i love a character that i really just want to hug. there’s not much to this reason. i just really want to hug shadowsight. i’ve said this too many times.

also, he just gives me something to look forward to, and a reason to keep being optimistic even if i feel bleak. like, no matter what, the next warriors book will come out and i’ll get to see shadowsight again!! he also stops me from thinking bad thoughts about myself tbh…. if i catch me thinking badly about myself i think “would shadowsight want me to think this?” and stop because i wouldn’t want to make shadowsight sad. would many people say it’s stupid? yes, but it works!!

anyway, that’s the end of my ranting for now… thank you for giving me the opportunity to rant about shadowsight, it means so much to me!!! <33

I’m not the anon but I agreed with some things they said, and I’m not afraid of stereotyping him at all, I think that’s a pretty big assumption to make for why people perceive his character as simply boyish, not liking to feel vulnerable, and so on. Maybe stoic is too strong of a word, sure, but what’s on the screen is what’s on the screen, I think the whole point was just that people’s perceptions have nothing to do with blending Noah and Will. It’s clearly due to something the actor brings intentionally to Will that is not his own personality, that low, quiet seriousness. And we’ve seen Will in some pretty tough spots. It makes sense he’d be sensitive in those situations, you know? He’s very special of course but he’s also just a guy

Also, being sensitive or a crier or soft isn’t bad yucky girl coding it’s literally just not something only girls do! It’s uncomfortable to see someone express traditionally feminine traits and have people go “yes, that’s a girl thing.” It’s what his bullies did. I think that’s the point: that we can appreciate these things about Will without constantly obsessing over his Girl role. He’s just Will

and you just called them traditionally feminine traits. that's literally the whole thing. I am not the one using "girl" in replace of "feminine", that was op anon, and others minimising will's narrative, and I think saying "a girl thing" is missing the point of analysing something as feminine. I can't speak for anybody else, I don't know what you or op anon have seen, but when I ever discuss what was watered down to "girl coding", it's about the fact will is a male character who happens to have been written to express traditionally feminine traits more than other boys/men around him, and also the tropes his story falls under.

it's not a bad or weird thing to point out. noticing feminine traits is most definitely not my entire personality, which it feels like you're implying is for some people. I find it genuinely fucking cool they wrote a male character to follow multiple tropes and narratives usually given to female characters in the horror genre. it's unique and fresh and expressing enjoyment over that isn't taking away from will being a boy.

but he also isn't just a standard boy, btw. his visible difference to everybody else is kind of a big - and important - part of his story. and no, that's not me being wilfully ignorant to what you're saying - I fully understood you, I am just saying that while I agree he isn't overly effeminate or flamboyant atm, he is also not "just a guy".

I think you're making an assumption off my wording - which I get because it was posted impulsively - but holy hell that was definitely not the correlation. you agreeing with op anon but also being fine to stereotype him doesn't make any opinion here special, I mean great to hear you have no problem stereotyping him! but I wasn't making a generalisation. the will and noah criticism is often about noah's physique affecting how people perceive will post-st4, when even that is exaggerated.

people being scared to stereotype will IS a problem in the fandom, even if not related to that specific post, and I brought it up because it was similar language. but also, this is the first I'm hearing the word "boyish" used for will so consistently. what I usually see is people going to the total opposite end of the spectrum of how we know him in the show and making him tough, commandeering or stoic, instead of embracing his softness; and never what's happened here today, which is people insisting that others are 'making him girly when he is in fact boyish' - that's news to me!

from what I've seen, if you explore his canon gender nonconformity, it's too feminising and there's hesitance, even if it's the simplest thing. in fact, guaranteed someone reading me even mentioning gnc in the sentence previous just flinched because it's a touchy or tired subject. but I don't see that issue with mike in headcanons/fics/art, ever, which is what has led me to believe over time that people have an issue/fear with stereotyping will. and that has to come from somewhere in his visual/narrative design because where else could you get it from unless you can recognise the writer's intentions?

I know I've held back from posting more headcanons bc I've been worried people will assume things of me because they project assumptions, when I always take his gnc qualities, and potential, seriously.

also, like I mentioned above, nowhere did you touch on the fact will's narrative is consistent with that of female horror characters (and that's not a bad thing), which is what the people I've seen who may discuss any "girl coding" are often referring to, because it's relevant and unique, and worthy of analysing.

I'm linking this post that explains it more really well, but I know you'll either find it interesting bc you've never seen it before, or roll your eyes bc you already have issue with it; but I can't express more how I'm coming from a genuinely fascinated, excited and well meaning place whenever I might discuss will's narrative having anything to do with something traditionally feminine (which is just a harmless word that happens to have the prefix 'fem').

what's on screen is being reserved, not stoicism. it's will going through tough times, and - in your eyes - involuntarily expressing emotion when he usually wouldn't......? well all I can recommend for you here is rewatching the show. honestly.

will is a lively, funny, expressive character. not near the same level as noah, but I struggled to understand the relevance in pointing out will's quiet seriousness and noah. are being loud and extroverted not traditionally more masc traits in characters than quietness and being reserved? would that not mean will's expressiveness is what makes him more boyish than his passiveness?

I feel as though the issue being expressed here is feeling importance in will being male and being gay, and so people deeming will's traits feminine = he falls under the 'girl' in other's tendencies to make things a boy/girl dynamic, hence putting such an emphasis on "will is just a boy!!". and I hear you, but being afraid to explore will's story because of optics in relation to his love interest does a disservice to his journey.

I have three (rhetorical, please) questions for that:

a) do you understand that will's story goes beyond his relationship with mike, and that sometimes when people are analysing will's narrative, they aren't even keeping mike in mind? aka there's no intentional placing of will in a feminine role in their dynamic?

b) do you also vocally criticise when people do the same as they may do to will, to mike?

c) do you acknowledge that ST is an 80s show, not set in modern day, and will is from generation x - where we happen to have gotten a lot of those 'stereotypes' from, and it may not be so bizarre to consider he grows up to be similar to the middle aged (visible!) gay men you may know today? or can you see how playing with his gender nonconformity or any stereotypical progression can be different to if he was, say, a 2024 gay high schooler in another netflix original, where it's then a tired writing decision?

we are. we are appreciating will for who he is, and some of "these things" happen to include him being given roles in the narrative that are often given to female characters, and that's not making anything 'binary'. it's a part of the conversation of will byers. will is not the character who experiences girly issues in the fandom.

i’m rly vibing w senor bighands design thus far………………i hope it looks good in action!!! the deathdrives’ designs have been pretty hit or miss for me tbh, like i rly love superbia and cupiridas but knuth/pessimism/vanitas are more meh…….like i generally enjoy the unique shapes in THEORY but i just feel like they also suffer a lot from being overdesigned the way a lot of modern 3d mecha are and it makes them kind of hard to parse out on screen which is :/ like so many of the shots are just so BUSY that it’s hard for me to get a handle on what is going on yknow? i can’t stop thinking abt what that shot of bravern saluting smith would look like if there were less details fjdbjfjdndbdn

if burn bravern + superbia gattai. that robot will literally be red + yellow + green + blue + purple. 🤨🏳️‍🌈⁉️

if on the off chance it turns out lulu IS biologically related to smith. i think it’ll make that one scene from ep3 where the hotel owner is like “🤨 she doesn’t LOOK like your sister” a fucking million times funnier LMFAO. also i am still suspicious of why her name is lulu if NOT being just the repeated first syllable of smith’s name like a noriko -> nono situation. this has fr been my tin foil hat theory since ep3 and i am not letting go until the end!!!!!! (although also side note that in general i am not EXPECTING any of this lmao. i honestly am mostly just finding such joy in the fact that this show is batshit insane enough that stuff like this is like. relatively plausible? at least to consider floating around? like it’s the same w the “lulu is biologically smith AND isami’s daughter cause isami’s blood dripped in bravern and her hair is blue and her eyes are red and she pilots the PURPLE deathdrive” thing - like the fact that i’m not immediately rolling my eyes at the idea tickles me greatly LMAO)

the way that the pieces for this episode have been positioned intrigues me to no end. like. it’s bravern + lulu + superbia(? i assume) Who Know and isami Who Doesn’t. and the side characters who ALSO don’t know are also not there (at least in the setup). although tbh i could see miyu having an inkling abt it or at the very least being super chill like she was in the Bad Future. like that rly opens the floor up from both a plot perspective (don’t have to worry about whatever power these new DDs have cause only the core cast will be affected) and from a character perspective (don’t have to cut to the faces of Literally anyone but isami going like 😲 once the truth is revealed. if isami doesn’t figure it out for himself first. or however that plays out) and its so smart on the whole and i’m genuinely so excited to watch it play out!!!!!! like even if miyu et al roll up in the last two minutes to help save the day with um. idk it’d have to be smth completely new i suppose cause they sure do have like one gun that is marginally effective against the DDs FNDJFJJDJS it pares things down for max efficiency which is really smart imo

japan and the US jointly developing a mech that reads your brainwaves is the most sus thing in the world LMAO like i could not sleep at night if that thing were real even moreso than the deathdrives themselves

i think there’s at least one more twist left. like ep9 was The Twist and then they pulled time travel AGAIN in ep10 which is genuinely WILD to me. so like. idk maybe ep11 is Old Man Isami coming back from ANOTHER future to sunbathe in the volcano FNNDNFN

i am also not counting out a g gundam style ending yet and Getting Smith Outta That Thing. obviously my own biases are very much at play here but like. if the moral of this show is that you gotta live no matter what you just HAVE to live and fuck time and space and convention because the people who love you will make sure you live. like. if any show is gonna have its cake and eat it too and keep both bravern AND smith around? i feel like this one could pull it off!!!! not placing bets ofc but like its possible yknow? but again that is also based on the assumption that the end point of the show is at all congruous with its current status quo, and something that my feeble human mind can even conceive of with the information that is given, so we shall see. LMAO. the idea that they’re all just gonna be fucking isekai’d into the florist AU that staff loves so much is ANOTHER idea that tickles me greatly for being something so in line with the insanity of this show that i cannot IMMEDIATELY rule it out even if i very much doubt that’s where we’re going LMFAO. bc smth like that sure would fucking vibe w the final battle taking place somewhere “unexpected” (again, if that’s true, idr if it was just a rumor or not) and also how uninterested the show has been w the state of the world at large barring a few scenes. HM.

anyways final predictions for this ep is that i will cry atleast once 👍

My Personal Approach to Fantasy AUs

I have received a number of comments on my Deep Space 9 Fairy Tale AU, Seven for a Secret, to the effect of "I love how you've kept everyone so in-character!"

I also recently sent a friend part of the first chapter of a prequel fic in the same setting, and they said they're not usually interested in AUs of this nature, because too often, they've seen characters written in ways that make them less recognisably themselves. But they did like my writing.

So I'm going to try and explain my process in a way that hopefully makes sense to everyone reading it. I'm absolutely not making this post to gatekeep fanfic, or to tell someone how to write their story, I'm just explaining what I do when writing a Fantasy AU within a fandom context.

For clarity, this post is about AUs where the characters were born into a high/epic/secondary world fantasy setting (I have heard all these terms before). It is not about charas being isekaied into fantasy settings for crossover purposes (that genre encompasses portal fantasy, doesn't have to involve the charas dying), though tbh I love those, too. Excellent fun. But the characters in those cases are still the canon ones, just being put in a situation. I actually plan on writing a series of DND campaign fics with the casts of my three favourite classic Trek series that are basically this premise, but that's not what I want to talk about today.

In a lot of cases, when someone has written a fantasy AU, the characters are changed so much that you could, theoretically, file off the serial numbers, switch out canon references and turn it into an original novel. This is also not strictly a bad thing—I've done it myself, and although that story never got finished, it paved the way for those that followed, so it's helpful in the creative process to recognise when you have enough material for an original spin on something.

However, for me especially, it is more fun to see and recognise the fandom characters, and then watch them navigate a story that is both unique and would not be the same without them.

Presenting Exhibit A: The Princess and the Dragon, a fanfiction for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, written by my dear friend, @kohakuhime

This was one of the first fics of this nature that I came across in my wanderings through the blighted wastelands of FFN—Kohaku's fics were very much an oasis in the desert, so refreshing and vibrant were they, but this was her big fantasy baby, centred around a ship we both loved, and rich with lore and magic and mystery. It was also peppered with canon references, and all the characters were kept breathtakingly in-character—I won't get into spoiler territory, but let's just say I could hear the voice-actors saying so many of these lines, they were so good! My bar for this type of AU was set pretty high in large part because of this fic.

To be quite fair, Kohaku has said she could probably file off the serial numbers of TPATD, change some of the components of the magic system and release it as an original novel, as the concept itself (again, avoiding spoilers by going into details out of respect for this friend and her excellent story) is a fun twist on a particular trope. But although there are many original elements, it still feels like a Yu-Gi-Oh! fic, because of all the grounding points woven throughout, and how familiar the characters are.

This fic was not the only story I found that helped shape my approach back in 2012—there were a couple other fics in the Dragon Ball Z archive on FFN that also contributed, but they were both written a long time ago and I'm not sure they'd hold up nearly so well today. One of them was a fairy tale retelling (well, a Disney film retelling, but it was really good from my perspective as a fic newbie!), and this plus some other—shall we say, less interesting adaptations in the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom inspired me to write the fic now known as Wild Swans of Domino, which I'm not linking here because I am in the process of editing it up to my current standards. Seven for a Secret is, in its way, a spiritual successor to WSoD, though I do intend to finish the latter (and the sequels I developed over the years). WSoD was my practice ground for developing the approach I wrote this post to explain, and it kinda shows in the current version, because I started out simple, and then my brain started generating lore and places for more canon references to go and the story got away from me. That—happens to me a lot.

My approach with this type of AU comes down to one major point: If I am writing a fairy tale adaptation (it's usually a fairy tale adaptation that starts this for me), or some other fantasy story in an alternate universe which these characters are, for the purposes of the fic, native to, then both they and the setting must have some familiar aspects tying them back to the source material. The characters, especially, must still feel like themselves, or you may lose readers' interest, because "Benjamin Sisko wouldn't do that!" or "Seto Kaiba wouldn't react that way in this situation! Stop making him quote the movie's dialogue, it sounds so contrived it is painful to read!"

... Ahem, moving on from bad memories of bad fics.

WSoD and Secret are both based on a fairy tale I already have an original story idea for (several, actually), so I don't need or want either of them to be unique enough to divorce them from their fandom origins. Therefore, while developing them, I have done/am doing my utmost to weave in as many threads from canon as possible within the boundaries of the setting, and have also done my best to preserve the characters' personalities. And according to those aforementioned comments, I'm doing pretty well!

To be absolutely fair, in both cases, the fandoms in question are either another form of Fantasy or as close to Fantasy as a Sci-fi setting can get (Sisko's an honest to the Prophets Chosen one, for goodness sake!). But I do believe you can do this with any character, from any setting, if you put enough thought into it.

And maybe that's part of why I don't see it around as much, because some (often younger but not always) fic authors can have a concept float into their head or sent to them by another fan, and bang out a fic in a week that hits all the points they wanted it to without too much brainstorming behind it. Whereas I, a perfectionist and possesser of an increasingly plot-tribble-infested brain, can't make a single plot decision without pondering it for several days, and fret over little logistical details until I'm purple in the face (probably. I don't have eyeballs and thence can't look in a mirror). But I still think it's doable for any character.

To do this well, you must consider what fundamentally makes this character who they are. What traits would you absolutely have to keep (aside from physical appearance in most cases) to ensure this character was familiar to the reader who clicked on the fandom tag and subsequently your fic. If you ran across Sherlock Holmes in, say, the Pokémon world, how would you know he was Sherlock Holmes? Why, he'd be solving mysteries, and doing so by analysing all sorts of details, noticing things others failed to, putting pieces together that formed a solution others wouldn't have even considered, because the majority of those puzzle pieces were overlooked! And he'd probably be skulling shuckle juice when he didn't have a mystery to solve. And obviously he'd be autistic.

Are you imagining it? I hope you are. Now imagine a character, or several, from one of your fandoms, that you love. Imagine what you love best about them, what makes them who they are, from your perspective. Now imagine a setting that's different from their source material—there are any number of AUs you could pick. Now, think carefully about how you would write them in this setting, while focusing on changing as little about them as possible.

In Secret, Ben and Julian are both princes (this is revealed in Chapter 1, I don't mind telling you). The Dax symbiont is a Fae being magically bound to Jadzia, who is a mage. Their personalities are still familiar to the reader. Miles O'Brien has barely changed at all, because he doesn't need to.

And there's the single golden rule: When writing an AU like this, only change as much or as little as you absolutely need to for your story to work. You can, of course, have fun with how you change things—just check out Innate Conditions and its companion fics by @tokidokifish for a DS9 example (Cardassians are shapeshifting dragons! How cool is that?)

I hope all this makes sense. And again, this is not an attempt to dictate how you, personally, write your stories. I do hope you at least give it a little thought, though, if you haven't already. Most importantly, have fun!

little pre-warning for suicide (i'm fine though!!)

sorry if this isn't articulated very well but like. i got into ofmd only last october when season 2 was airing and i still remember it's bc i got a clip on tiktok of the "is that blackbeard?" "no, i'm blackbeard" scene which is SUCH a good fucking hook btw. and before watching it i kind of actually hated it LOL like people do with anything that's popular and Everywhere it just oversaturates sometimes. and it made me feel kind of silly to go back on my own opinion but i didn't even really dwell on that bc me getting into it also happened to coincide with a failed suicide attempt (that kind of funnily also included a gun that misfired like in-show lol). and like i was pretty understandably all over the place, but generally still in the "i want to live" moment that happens right after you nearly properly die. and the thing about suicide recovery is that you don't actually want to recover. so it was a really up and down left and right kind of situation and you're left feeling kind of like a puppet with no strings that's also been thrown into the ocean or something.

but then i liked this show that was funny and silly and i also got to see trans and gay people existing happily and normally which isn't necessarily NEW but it did feel really cool and unique to be able to go Oh and this is the moment where they would usually leave it to subtext and then they actually KISS and it's like woahhhh. i didn't know they could do that... and then as i was still processing what was happening with my own life and like mortality i got to see this character go through the exact same thing and come out on the other side of it ENTIRELY by himself and experience love and self determination and actualisation and i'm not saying it made me want to do it myself but it did feel like a really personal thing for me (hence anon also lol).

and for the few weeks it was coming out i got to sit there and think about how he was doing and it gave me another reason to not do something again. like i am so definitely not the only one who can say "this show saved my life" but honestly it literally did. like there's that thing when you're suicidal where the things that you're sticking around for are the only things you've got so they're as important as anything even if it's like... going to a concert the following week or something. or getting a burger. and i really honestly stuck around just to love this show and my cat.

it's been a few months now ofc and it still sucks and i'm not better or anything but being able to indulge in something fun for fun's sake is the biggest source of joy in my life and tbh it's not gonna go away just because there's going to be no season 3. when i'm feeling too much of particularly anything i have a handy little balm which i know everyone feels but still. a little gifset of ed always makes me feel better if i'm freaking out so it's cool i don't care if it's a bit lame. i'm a bit sad for season 3 and everyone being sad is also making me sadder but i still have a lot of love left so ah. it'll be fine :)

if anything i hope this inspires people to have a little boom in the numbers re: content now that we know there'll be no canon to possibly diverge from and we can make up our OWN season 3 ‼️ which will be fun :)

and then i didn't really come up with anything lmao other than you're right and i love you and i love this show and it's so incredibly important to me and so groundbreaking in so many ways and has made me feel seen in a way that no other piece of media ever has. the queer rep is groundbreaking. the portrayal of ed's suicidality moved me beyond words. there are dozens of other people sharing stories about how ofmd helped them to come out or meet their partner or start transitioning or quit something that was making them unhappy. i watched s2 at a time while i was really struggling with post-covid symptoms. i've met so many incredible people through this fandom. i think about the show dozens of times a day. the show brought me so much joy and they can't take that away

they can't ever take away how special it was and how much it's changed people's lives

i'm very excited to see what the amazing fic writers in this fandom are going to give us in place of s3. i just wish we could've had the rest of the story david wanted to tell
