SPOILERS FOR THE LEAKS in my ask
.
.
.
Clari did you see the new reveal about Dabi’s quirk. I’m fucking dying. Screaming, crying, throwing up.
He was always perfect :,(
But we already knew that
bnha manga spoilers
i did, kind of! i honestly try not to look too far into them & make assumptions until i can read the whole chapter for myself (because sometimes i find the leaks summaries are misleading or poorly explained) so i’m not 100% sure how i feel about this! i have a lot of questions. for example, based on the summary we got, it says that new abilities are awoken only close to death. so how far, theoretically, would enji had had to push touya to get this to manifest/show up/come out of him? would he had to push him to the brink of death to get it? why didn’t it show up when touya was 13 and nearly burned to death? or did it show up then at age 13, somehow, and dabi’s just been conveniently hiding it until now? additionally, does this actually have any impact on neutralizing his flames and the fact that his body was not built for them? does it help in that aspect? can it help in that aspect? many many maaaany questions.
i said this last night in my little rant/vent post but if dabi ends up living i will be thoroughly and immensely disappointed. as much as i love dabi with every fiber of my being and my whole entire heart, and as much as i wish there was a way for him to continue living, him having a well written and impactful ending to his story matters more to me and it’s what he deserves as a character. he deserves a GOOD ending. dabi surviving this makes absolutely zero sense and would be such a horrid ending for his story as a whole, especially considering the fact that, logically, if he were to live the only place he’d end up is jail for life; he can’t claim insanity, not when they have a video of him fully and lucidly explaining and admitting to his crimes. he knew exactly what he was doing all along, obv. letting him off with a slap on the wrist because he has ~trauma~ (aw, boohoo, so do i and i don’t murder innocents) and is the number one hero’s son is so fucking stupid, not to mention extremely unfair and goes against pretty much all of dabi’s beliefs (false heroes, heroes being treated differently etc).
anyway sorry i went off on a tangent there HAHA i could write u an entire essay on why i think dabi’s end should be his (and enji’s!) death so i tried to keep it brief while still explaining myself properly but!! honestly, i’m extremely critical when it comes to dabi’s character arc/story, and him not getting the well written, heart wrenching ending he deserves has been a heavy fear of mine preeeetty much since i picked up this series.
in sum: not sure how i feel about the sudden ice quirk thing, trying not to overreact or make any serious judgements until this whole bit of the story has played out. trying v hard to have faith and trust in hori and his skills as a storyteller because i know he has the capacity to make this phenomenal and i hope to whatever god is out there that it doesn’t get fucked up by fan service.

Gobble You Up
Pairing: EddieMunsonxReader
Summary: Visiting your parents for Thanksgiving and you show Eddie your old room. He takes the opportunity for more.
18+ only
Tumblr media
 You gave Eddie a reassuring smile as the two of you approached your childhood home. You had been dating for a few months now and he agreed to come home with you for Thanksgiving and meet your parents. You could tell he was nervous, he'd told you parents didn't tend to like him on sight, but you had no doubt he would win your mom and dad over. Your parents were not hard to impress.
Your mom threw open the door, beaming from ear to ear at seeing you back home, standing on her porch. She pulled you into a big hug and then immediately pulled Eddie into one too. He looked a bit surprised, eyes going wide. But then he smiled, his arms coming around the small woman, touched at her affection that she gave so freely. You knew his mom hadn't been around since he was a kid and it was probably a bit shocking to experience a mother's warmth when you'd only just met but that was your mom.
"I am so glad you two could make it!" she exclaimed. "You must be Eddie. We've been dying to meet you. Y/n talks about you non-stop on the phone."
"Oh, hopefully all good things," he said, his neck flushing from the compliment and he pulled at his collar slightly. He was just waiting for the ax to fall, for her to give a reason why he wasn't right for her daughter.
"You should hear her gushing about how wonderful you are," your mom laughed, pinching his cheek gently. "Sorry, just had to prove to myself that you're real. The way she makes it out, you're just about perfect."
Eddie laughed, his cheeks blazing red at the compliment. "I promise you I'm as real as they come. Thank you so much for inviting me."
"Of course! Anyone who makes our daughter so happy is always welcome. Come in!"
The two of you entered your childhood home, the home that hadn't changed since you were a kid. Eddie paused at the pictures of you through the years that lined the buffet in the entryway. He grabbed one of you as a child and held it out, smiling.
"You were adorable," he commented, clutching it to his chest, those lush lips pouting.
You rolled your eyes, "Shut up. That was when my mom cut my hair herself."
"Well, I think you're cute as a button," he said, his finger pressing gently against your nose. "Still are."
The same floral pattern couches sat in the living room that your mom bought when you were ten. And there was your dad's recliner with your dad in it, as usual. He rose up as soon as he caught sight of you two and pulled you close before offering his hand to Eddie.
"Good to meet you, son," he boomed, patting Eddie on the back.
"You too sir," Eddie responded nervously.
"Oh, no need for that," your dad laughed, "just call me Keith. You're practically family now the way our girl talks about you."
Eddie's eyes widened. "Wow. You guys are really welcoming. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous."
"No need to be nervous," your dad assured him. "You make our little girl happy and that's all we care about. You're more than welcome."
Eddie reached over and squeezed your hand, that dimple you loved so much appearing on his cheek. A warmth spread through you at how quickly he was made to feel at home because you knew this was where he belonged forever. It may have only been a few months, but you knew this was it for you. He was your everything.
"Y/n, why don't you show Eddie your room? You guys can relax for a bit after your long drive," your mom offered. "Your dad and I have to run to the store real quick to get a few things for dinner tomorrow and I want to make it there before they close."
"Oh, are you sure you don't want me to run with you mom?" you ask.
"No," your mom laughed, "you guys just got here. It was a long day for you. Just go on up and rest. I am sure you need it. We'll only be gone for about an hour or so."
Your parents headed out and Eddie glanced over at you. You could tell what he was thinking without him even having to say it. His eyes had darkened, a little smirk playing along his lips as he grabbed your hip, pulling you close against him.
"We have a whole hour to ourselves, whatever will we do to fill the time?" he teased.
You could already feel his excitement pressing against your lower belly and it flared white-hot desire in you. You slid your hands along his arms and up his shoulders, looping them behind his neck.
"Well, my mom did say I should show you my childhood room," you replied.
"I would very much like to see where your bed is."
You grabbed his hand, dashing up the stairs and pulling him behind you. Your bedroom was the second one on the left and you threw open the door, intending to shove him on the bed and rip off all his clothes but he stopped in the doorway, his hand tugging against yours.
He was gazing around your room, soaking in every detail. You looked around, trying to see it through his eyes. The blue comforter covered in daisies, the stuffed animals propped on a beanbag chair in the corner, the desk with the typewriter where you did all your homework in high school, the posters that covered your walls. Your mom hadn't changed anything since you'd left. Your train of thought was broken when you heard Eddie chuckling.
"Bon Jovi," he snorted, pointing.
"Shut up!" you snapped, glancing at your life-size poster of Jon that still hung on your wall. "Maybe Bon Jovi isn't metal enough for you but Jon is sexy as fuck."
"Ohh, is he now?" Eddie purred, slowly walking toward you. Grabbing your arm, he spun your body so you were facing the poster, your back pressed against him. His hands slid around to your breasts, massaging them through your top as his lips pressed gentle kisses along your neck. "And is Mr. Bon Jovi hotter than me?"
"No," you breathed, struggling to focus as his hands moved down along your abdomen, brushing the bare skin above your jeans. "No one is hotter than you."
"Good girl," he growled, nipping at the tender flesh on your neck and you cried out. His fingers nimbly undid your jeans, his hand sliding underneath your panties. "Did you used to lay in here and touch yourself while you looked at Jon?" His index finger found your clit, making slow, torturous circles. "Oh, you're so wet already princess. Is that for me or Jon?"
"You..." you struggled to say through the waves of pleasure that were sweeping you under. It was always the same with Eddie. You lost all sense of the world around you when he was touching you.
His finger slid along your folds, gently pushing inside of you and you gasped, bucking your hips against his hand. His other hand gripped your jaw, pulling your head to the side so he could have full access to your neck. A second finger joined the first, the rhythm of his movement picking up speed. A litany of curses and sounds no human should be able to create erupted from you.
"Mmm...is this just how you sounded when you lay in that bed touching yourself?"
"No," you whispered, "because I could never make myself feel as good as you do."
"That's right. No one can make you feel as good as I do," he responded, his fingers sliding out of you.
You whimpered at the sudden loss of him but then he grabbed your jeans, pulling them down your thighs and away from your feet, tossing them across the room. He placed his hands on your shoulders, pushing you until your back hit the wall.
"I know what I want for Thanksgiving dessert," he said, a wicked smile on his face as he dropped to his knees, hiking your thigh over his shoulder. "Mmm...gobble, gobble baby."
It was so ridiculous you wanted to laugh but then his tongue was on you, teasing along your clit, sliding along your folds, dipping into you and back out and you for anything else but the feel of him. Your eyes rolled back in your head as you lost all focus but you had to focus on keeping your one leg steady. It was the only thing keeping you from falling over. Your palms spread wide as they held the wall behind you, desperate for any support you could find.
"Jesus Christ Eddie..." you groaned.
His tongue swirled lazy circles around your clit before flicking at it rapidly. The sudden change in sensation was overwhelming. He continued this torturous pattern as his hands slid along your thighs and then his fingers were back inside of you, relentless in their pulsing.
"Fuck Thanksgiving dinner," he growled, sucking your clit in between his lips. "I just want to feast here all goddamn weekend."
One of your hands left the wall, the other remaining to hold yourself up. You buried your fingers in his hair, grinding yourself against his face, keeping him right where you needed him. He moaned against your pussy and the vibrations sent more waves of pleasure rocketing through you.
"Oh baby, I'm so close..." you moaned.
His tongue swept over your clit quickly, back and forth and then up and down. His fingers curved, rubbing against your walls in the exact perfect place to send you barreling over the edge. You screamed his name, shaking from head to foot, your leg giving out from under you.
Eddie caught you, sliding you into his lap and you sighed, resting your forehead against his shoulder. He pressed kisses along your cheek, nibbling on your ear, moving along your jaw, following a path to your shoulder. You could already feel yourself stirring again just at the feel of his lips along your flesh.
You grabbed his face, smashing your lips against his, gently pulling at his bottom lip with your teeth. He moaned against your mouth, gripping your ass in his hands. You stood up, him following suit, and feverishly worked on his jeans to get them off of him, quickly followed by his shirt.
Pressing your hands against his chest, you gave a sharp shove, sending him backwards onto the bed before crawling slowly over top of him, straddling his hips.
"Goddamn baby," he murmured, his eyes hooded with desire, his hands digging into your hips. "I like when you get feisty."
Smiling, you gripped his cock in your hand, sliding yourself along it but not letting it enter you. He cursed, his head falling back against the pillow, those beautiful mahogany waves splayed out like a mane. You slid the length of him all along your folds before allowing just the tip to slide past your entrance before pulling back.
"Jesus Christ..." he moaned, those fingers on your hips digging in so hard you were sure you'd have marks tomorrow. You didn't mind. Eddie had never truly hurt you, but you liked a little rough play. It gave you pleasure to wake up and see a little mark from his teeth or imprints from his fingers, reminding you that he was completely yours and you were his.
You slid the tip of him around your clit, using his cock for your own pleasure. Gripping him, your ran your hand up and down his length, allowing just the tip of him to enter you again before denying him once more.
"Shit baby, stop teasing me," he pleaded. "I need to be inside you now."
You slowly lowered yourself, taking all of him in. You moaned softly at how he completely filled you. Your hands gripped his shoulders as you began to ride him, propped on your knees as you lifted and lowered yourself on his cock.
"Fuck, you feel like heaven," he groaned, his fingers splayed wide over your hips, gripping them as he moved with you, bringing his own up as you brought yours down.
Your fingernails dug into his flesh and he hissed softly through his teeth. His hands slid from your hips, along your stomach, cupping your breasts. His thumbs began to brush over your nipples and you bit your lip, moving your hips in circles. This motion caused Eddie's cock to hit the most delicious places within you.
"Jesus Christ," you breathed.
Eddie gripped your hips again as he began to thrust up faster and harder. You gasped, gripping his chest for dear life as your body bounced vigorously with his thrusting.
"God, I love watching your tits when you ride me," he growled. "You look like a fucking goddess."
His thumb found your clit, stroking it as he continued to thrust. You arched your back, your hands moving to his thighs, whimpering as you moved closer and closer to the edge of sweet oblivion.
"Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck!" you screamed, gripping his thighs for dear life as you rode out your orgasm, your whole body convulsing.
Eddie hand left your clit and grabbed onto your waist, steadying you as he drove into you even faster. His thrusts were causing you to feel like you might bounce right off of him. He screamed out your name as you felt his release.
"Jesus Christ..." he moaned, grabbing you and pulling you down on top of him. "Fuck, you are amazing."
"Mmm...you're pretty amazing yourself," you murmured, pleasantly numb from your head to your toes.
Eddie's hands grabbed your face, placing a gentle kiss against your lips.
"Well, I know what I'm thankful for," he said with a grin.

Gymnastics
Characters: Jay Halstead x Sibling!Reader, Will Halstead x Sibling!Reader
Warnings: Annoying girls, incorrect gymnastics, incorrect justice system, injuries, drugs, blood etc.
Summary: Today was your time to shine but someone just had to ruin it.
A/N: Hello, hello, hello. So it’s been a month since I last updated but i am officially back in business now that all my exams are over and education is done till September. I will be much more consistent in my writing now that I’ve got so much free time but I can’t promise much because my inspiration is still haywire.
I have never once seen gymnastics competitively and google was no help in the legal department so I apologise for any mistakes in advance. But I do hope you enjoy this!!
I also wrote this on my phone so there will probably be several mistakes.
Tumblr media
"Are you sure blue's my colour?" You asked with uncertainty, smoothing down non-existent creases in your leotard. Last night, you were more than confident that everything was going to be perfect but now that you were standing in front of a mirror in the dressing room, you were starting to second guess yourself.
"Girl, that teal blue and your luscious red locks are a match made in heaven!" You best friend scoffed, a smile on her face as she looked at you incredulously, shocked that you were even doubting your appearance in the first place.
Tilting your head to the side, you hummed. She was right, you looked great and boy were you glad you got the good looking genes from your family.
Unfortunately for everyone today, Will and Jay couldn't make it because of work and you immediately understood. Being an ER doctor and a detective in Chicago was a big job in itself so when they sat you down the other night and remorsefully explained, you knew you'd be by yourself.
But, you had Emily and she'd been by your side every step of the way. gymnastics was actually how the two of you met. You were there on your own free will, her mother was forcing her but after sharing that class when you were five, you'd been as thick as thieves, even when she quit and started volleyball.
"I'm sorry that Jay and Will couldn't be here." Emily said, standing next to you, helping fix your hair when your were struggling to keep your baby hairs down. "But, I'm recording everything so they don't need to worry-"
Emily cut herself off, her eyes wide as she looked in the mirror that the two of you were standing in front of. Confused, your followed her gaze and the biggest smile broke out on your face.
Whipping your head around, you looked at your two idiots dumbfounded. What the hell were they doing here? Most importantly, how did they get in?
"What are you guys doing here?" You asked still shocked, going up to them and wrapping your arms around them individually. It was only now you also noticed they were in their normal day to day clothes-
Nevermind. You could see Will's doctor ID sticking out his pocket with his wallet and phone and Jay's badge and gun was secured on his belt.
"Did you just come from work? Why?" You asked again, your brows furrowed as you stepped back.
"You think we'd miss this?" Will asked rhetorically, holding his hand out for you to stop when you opened your mouth to reply. "It's a rhetorical question Y/N, of course we'd be here."
"Getting today off was easy." Jay shrugged, his lips tugging up into a smirk as he finally addressed your sparkly blue leotard. "You look great."
You rolled your eyes, swatting his hand away from touching your shoulder. You did not need him getting glitter everywhere now at all times.
"You know what, how about you guys go find your seats so I can finish getting ready in peace?" You said snarkily, walking towards your bag for your water bottle and your phone.
"You sure?" Will asked, wanting to make sure you had everything you wanted and needed. If you really wanted to be alone then they'd grant you that.
"Yeah." You nodded, gesturing for Emily to join your brothers. "The competitions about to start soon anyways."
Emily nodded without any reluctancy, having spent the entire morning with you. Bouncing on her toes, she was a ball of excitement. With a quick and brief hug, letting your brothers do the same, she showed them to their seats.
"Break a leg kid!" Jay smiled, wishing you the best of luck so that you could win the competition you'd been dreaming of.
"Don't listen to him, do anything but break your leg." Will tsked, pushing Jay out the changing room. "Good luck and kick their asses."
"Don't swear!"
"Jay! Let's move!"
Their arguing slowly faded away. You laughed, shaking your head at your stupid older brothers shenanigans because even though they were acting like a bunch of five year olds, they still managed to show up and now doubt, they were going to show out with their encouraging cheers.
"Where's it gone?" You whispered to yourself, emptying your duffle bag into the bench, all of its contents falling out, everything but your water bottle and your flask.
It'd become a thing since you started gymnastics. You always had a water bottle and a flask with a drink that usually had electrolytes to help you before, after and in-between. You swear your packed your bag this money, you triple checked with a checklist and everything.
Grumbling under your breath, you were stretching your arm out to grab your phone and text whichever brother was higher up your contacts so one of them could get your liquids but you stopped yourself upon the dressing room door being pushed open.
"What do we have here? If it isn't my favourite gymnast, Y/N Halstead."
Kelly-Marie was your all time nemesis since you started preschool. You weren't too sure how it all started out but you couldn't really care less. No matter how you acted, nice or horrible towards her, she was keen on making your life a living hell in and out of school.
Rolling your eyes, your swallowed back any snarky remark and remained crossed legged on the cold floor. Boredly, you looked up at her through your lashes, not wanting to waste any time of day on her because a minute was too precious for her.
"What do you want Kelly?" You asked, looking up at her briefly before going back to your phone to continue doing what you planned on doing.
"I just came to do two things, so simple even a raccoon could do it." She smiled, her hands behind her back obviously holding something.
Once again, you held back from replying, instead biting your tongue so hard that you could probably draw blood but the annoying voices of your brothers telling your off for hurting yourself if what stopped you.
"Good luck Halstead." She said smugly, her ivy green leotard sparkly under the lights on the changing room. "May the best gymnast win."
From behind her back, she pulled out two very familiar looking bottles causing your brows to furrow in confusion and curiosity. How the hell did she get her hands on your things?
Cautiously, you took your bottles from her hands, setting it down on the bench. Now that you were standing up, you were now chest to chest and thank goodness you didn't inherit your mother's height. You got your height from your brothers which meant you were taller than Kelly, you could look down at her a little. Such a small notion putting you on a higher pedestal than her.
"I'll see you on that podium Kelly." You replied calmly, not letting yourself get worked up over her. You weren't going to get someone as petty as her ruin your day.
Sashaying her hips, she walked away, her dirty blonde hair yet to be put into its bun that Kelly wore.
Burning holes into the back of her head, you gulped down your drink, the fact that Kelly found it and willingly gave it back to you on her own accord going over your head.
*****
Despite her name being Kelly-Marie, her surname was Ainsley which meant she went before you. You had mixed feelings. Her going first meant she would be hard to beat since she set an expectation for the rest of the competitors but it also gave you time to judge and compare your routine to hers.
And you could proudly say that when she finished, you were only filled with more confidence.
Bouncing on your toes, you blew out several puffs of air, smiling at your three supporters who were sitting next to you, keeping you company before it was your turn.
Both your water and drink was half finished and it it wasn't for Will who said you'd need to go toilet once it was your go that stopped you.
You didn't want to mention that you were starting to feel light headed, you could feel beads of sweat also starting to collect on your forehead because you'd have an entire doctor assessing you for problems which you obviously didn't have, you were just nervous and needed to win this; you wanted to win this so badly ever since the prime age of five.
Ignoring Kelly's haughty laugh as she skipped away to her filthy rich parents, you rolled your shoulders back so they wouldn't be so tense.
"Alright squirt, go show em what you got." Jay massaged your shoulders from behind you, bending down so he could speak in your ear alike to a coach. Speaking of your coach, she was rounding the rest of the girls from the changing rooms so they could watch you light up the room.
"Wooo! Go Y/N!" Your brothers shouted in sync, clapping as you got onto the mats once your name was called out. You sent them a bright smile, chuckling at your short best friend who was jumping up and down in encouragement.
Inhaling deeply, your swatted away the nagging voice at the back of your head telling you to sit down. Your hands felt clammy which was very unlike you and your throat felt weird.
Despite feeling fully hydrated, the room started to move, colours and people meshing together but that all went away with aggressively rubbing your eyes.
With your songs slowly bleeding out of the speakers, the mats vibrating coursing through your body, you swallowed back your desperate need to throw up. What the hell was wrong with you?
Not giving it another thought, the only thing on your mind being that you crushed this competition, you mumbled a quick prayer under your breath and the floor was all yours.
Your flips and rolls all started off perfectly precise. Your talent mixed with your red hair and blue costume was so mesmerising to watch from a distance, the whistles and encouraging shouts only proving so.
It was now that time in your routine that you got onto the balance beam, one of your favourite things to do whether you were upright or upside down but you felt less than excited to get on. Something was definitely wrong.
Jay and Will noticed it straight away. The way you faltered, swaying once you attempted to stand up straight with your shoulders back but from afar, they could only speculate on your wellbeing.
But then, despite you endless efforts to remain upright and continue on, you fell.
Now, the fall was from a big height but hitting your head on the beam and landing awkwardly on your foot caused you some damage.
Gasps echoed across the hall, everyone either on their feet or in their chairs, mouths agape at the sight of your limpy body falling onto the mats.
Without a second thought, your two brothers, who had been on their feet through the entire routine you attempted to finish, were apologising while they squeezed their way out the row of seats, running down the small steps and straight towards you.
Getting onto his knees, Will knelt by your side, his hands going to your pulse point on your neck, sighing in slight relief when it was there but it was weak.
On instinct, Will relayed everything he did aloud, not realising that he was actually doing it. Luckily for him, it allowed for Jay to be kept in the loop even if he didn't understand quite a few of the words that he was hearing. Also, no one from the public could hear so that too worked in their favour.
Putting his ear close to your nose, Will held his own breath while he waited for yours. It came out occasionally, along with the unsteady rise and fall of your chest but you were breathing.
Somewhat happy at his findings, Will began rubbing your sternum, the glitter feeling like sandpaper against his fingers and knuckles. It was only when you groaned, eyes still screwed shut that Will stopped.
"Y/N, can you hear me?" Will asked, not fazed by the blood coating his fingers when he checked the back of your head. "You with us sweetheart?"
"I'm calling it in." Jay said once he saw that you were bleeding from your head, even if you weren't, he wasn't going to take any chances.
"What's wrong? Is she okay?" Emily stood a metre or two away from your unconscious body. She desperately wanted to hold your hand but didn't want to be in the way. Her eyes widened at the sight of blood seeping from your hair and onto the blue mats. All of a sudden, she was assuming the worst.
With his hand back on your sternum, trying to wake you up properly, Will looked over his shoulder only to find an anxiety ridden Emily. "Hey, Emily, can your breath for me?"
"Um, yeah." She licked her lips, nodding repeatedly as she did so. "I'm okay, what do you need?"
"Can you check her bag? See if she ate something off or if she took something." Will hated the words that rolled off his tongue so easily but he had to tick all the boxes.
"Yeah, I can do that." Emily nodded again, taking small steps backwards, taking one last good look at you before rushing off towards all your belongings.
Your mumbles were basically incoherent, your lips too heavy to move but the words you were trying to make out caught the attention of both your brothers, their heads snapping up to yours.
"And there she is." Will said with a smile, relieved that you were no conscious. "Jay, keep her head straight, who knows if she's got a spinal injury."
"I thought you could check for that in the field?" Jay asked, swearing that he remembered Will telling him something along those lines one night.
Will rolled his eyes. "I can but I don't want to risk anything, it can be done at the hospital."
"She's definitely broken her foot." Will winced, gently feeling around for anymore broken bones, trying to see if you hurt yourself more than what they could see.
There weren't any signs but somehow, it was either the experienced doctor or the experienced brother but Will knew what was about to happen.
"Move her onto her side." Will rushed out, moving you along with Jay as fast as possible. With no argument, Jay listened to his older brother and within seconds, you were throwing up.
"She's ingested something." Will said lowly, rubbing circles into your breath as you finished up.
Before Jay could reply, Emily came running back with your two bottles in hand. "We ate brunch at our usual place and these are the only thing she's had since then." She said, gesturing to the two bottles in her hand.
Without a second thought, Jay shared a look with Will who nodded, silently telling him he had it from here. Getting back onto his feet, Jay told Emily to keep those bottles with her unless he told her to let go.
"Alright, listen up!" Jay shouted, not bothered that his voice echoed throughout the hall. "No one leaves! And I don't care what it is or who you are, no one means no one!"
Even if Jay wasn't a detective, he very easily would've spotted the family of three trying to escape from the corner of his eyes. "Excuse me! Did you hear nothing I said?!"
The family of three all halted, turning back one by one to glare at Jay because who was he to tell them what they could and couldn't do.
"Well, excuse me but just who do you think you are?" The woman replied. She had on heels and was wearing a black and green pantsuit, matching with her husband and her daughter. "Do you have any idea who we are?"
Jay rolled his eyes, he really wasn't in the mood. "No, i don't know who you are and I really don't care either."
"Watch your tone young man!" The woman tsked, scolding him like he was her child. "You have no right to hold us against our will."
Not wanting to hear the woman's whiny voice continue scolding him, Jay wasted no time unclipping his badge and showing it right to her face.
"Detective Jay Halstead, badge number 51163 with the intelligence unit.” Jay said with ease, almost robotically with a straight face, his lips curling into a smirk at the speechless family. "Once again I want to reiterate, no one leaves."
"Jay! The paramedics are here!"
*****
Without asking, once the paramedics arrived and saw the Halstead brothers, there were no questions asked about going to Med. Before they left, intelligence rolled onto the scene.
The details had been kept light and for a good reason. All Jay needed to say was that he possibly caught something and he needed someone, probably Voight but everyone ended up coming after hearing Jay needed help.
Walking into the hall, only now did they remember why Jay asked for today off and it was like a scene out of a movie when they all entered the competition hall.
You were being put onto the stretcher and wheeled away, Will telling Jay he was going with and he could come with them.
Despite his heart urging for him to follow his two siblings, Jay insisted on staying so he could hand everything over and as soon as he was done, he'd be over at Med.
Explaining the situation, Jay took the two bottles from Emily, putting them in an evidence bag before telling your best friend to go with Kim who was going to take her statement.
It took ten minutes max for Jay to relay everything he knew to Voight before he was being forced away. Family meant everything and even if you weren't blood you might as well have been.
At Med
"Alright, talk to me Courtney- Will?" Maggie cut herself off, walking besides the stretcher even as she stared at the doctor in shock. "What are you doing here on your day off-"
Once again, Maggie cut herself off, glitter catching her attention. Looking down, Maggie was shocked to find the youngest Halstead semi-unconscious.
With a knowing glance, Maggie shouted for any free doctor roaming around the ED which just so happened to be Connor. "Rhodes! With me in three."
With plenty of ease, everyone helped transferring you onto the gurney. Will extensively explained how you got your injury and the aftermath, only mentioning all the medical details, leaving out the very large blanks.
Allowing Connor to do his job, Will stood back and prayed that you'd come out alright. In his mind, you had an amazing success rate but it was the brother in him that made him think otherwise.
*****
With you still unconscious, Will forced Jay to leave and go back to where the competition was being held. He promised the second you woke up, Jay would be his first call.
The entire unit was still at the centre, questioning everyone. Antonio was currently talking to a very angry Mrs Ainsley.
"Emily's going to go the Med with her mum, I've got everything I need from her." Kim said, approaching Jay as soon as he entered the hall. "Took Y/N's bag and all her stuff to forensics."
Jay hummed, clenching and unclenching his jaw as his eyes remained glued to the three member Ainsley family. "Will said they'd get a toxicology report."
"That's good." Kim said, pressing her lips together as she looked at her colleague apprehensively. "How is she?"
"Unconscious." Jay kept it short, not wanting to think about you lying in a hospital bed. "Will wouldn't let me stay, annoying bastard."
Kim smiled, walking with Jay further into the hall. Before she could comment about how Will was only being any ordinary older sibling, she was stopped by a furious yell.
All eyes turned immediately to the rich woman who had now lost all composure. Kelly-Marie stood boredly in her leotard still, arms crossed as she waited without a care in the world.
Jay had been on the receiving ends of your rants way too many times - he's lost count at this point - but he clearly remembers several of them being about one person in particular.
"Kelly Ainsley?" Jay called out the teenager, stepping towards her, making sure his badge was on show along with his holstered gun that he completely forgot to take off.
"It's Kelly-Marie." The blonde sassily corrected him, looking him up and down with lots of judgement. "Who's asking?"
"Detective Halstead, Y/N's brother remember?" Jay asked rhetorically. "I've seen you around quite a lot. You've been in the same team as Y/N since you started."
No one was going to point it out but Kelly-Marie visibly gulped, her posture changing at the mention of being your older brother. Not only did she remember him but she heard things about the older Halstead brothers, she knew to be wary.
"Kelly, I've got some questions for you."
*****
When you woke up, you couldn't remember a thing. You recalled the competition and you remembered your name being called but that was it, after that, it's all murky and hazy.
Groggily you sat up, wincing at the pain shooting through your body, coming from no place in particular. What the hell happened?
Looking down, you found your hair had been taken out of its tight ponytail and your hair fell freely down your shoulders. You were also dressed in a hospital gown, your teal blue leotard probably cut up in a bin bag somewhere.
Confusion flooded you. Why were you all alone? Not that it hurt not seeing your brothers glued to the chairs by your bedside but you were genuinely curious about their whereabouts.
Before you could press the button to call for a nurse, the curtains were pulled opened and you never felt more relief than you did now.
The first person you saw was Will who did a double take upon seeing you awake, alert and sitting perfectly upright.
"Hey, how you feeling sweetheart?" He smiled at you, coming to your side to gently pull you into a hug, pressing the lightest but a very meaningful kiss into your hairline. "You gave us a scare y'know?"
You winced. "Yeah, about that, what happened?"
"You don't remember?" Will pulled back, looking down at you in concern but for some reason, he didn't seem surprised.
"Um, I remember getting ready and going onto the mats when my name got called but its all fuzzy after that." You said, squinting your eyes as you tried your hardest to try and remember but it only sent a wave of pain to course through your head.
"Yeah, let's not do any of that." Will said, grimacing when you winced through the pain, squeezing his hand as tight as you could without breaking any bones.
"Emily and her mom will be back tomorrow." Jay said, his badge now hanging from his neck. His eyes were on his watch as he walked into the treatment room. "Voight and Antonio are with the Ainsley's."
"The Ainsley's? What did they do?" You asked, genuinely wanting to know what a horrible person like Kelly-Marie and her parents had to do with all of this.
"Y/N." Jay said breathlessly, like all the breath had been knocked out his lungs. He'd never felt more relieved ever in his life than he did right now. "Thank goodness you're awake, we were so worried."
"Okay yeah, I get it. You were worried about me but what about the Ainsley's?" You waved off your brothers concern, curious to what happened to your long time nemesis and her parents.
Will and Jay shared a look, having a silent conversation with merely their eyes. It was something they always did when it regarded you and you always hated it. Even as you got older, they never stopped.
"Y/N, you were drugged." Will told you straight, deciding that beating around the bush would be useless.
Your lips formed on o shape, nothing coming out as you sat in shock. Trying to retain the very short and simple words, you looked at your brothers back and forth until it all dawned on you.
"It was my bottle, wasn't it?" You asked in realisation of when you could've taken any drugs. "What was it?"
Jay looked hesitant to answer you but knew you wouldn't let up. Holding your hand in his, allowing you to squeeze as hard as you wanted, he told you as gently as he could.
"GHB." Jay said grimly, looking at you closely for your reaction. "It's also called the date rape drug."
You felt like being sick.
“Wow.” You breathed out. For a second, you forgot how to breathe. “I know we hate each other but…”
You struggled to find the words, mouth agape as you looked at your brothers back and forth dumbfounded.
Finally, you set your eyes on Jay and asked. “What’s going to happen to her?”
Jay swallowed harshly, you could tell from how his adams apple moved and how tense his jaw was. His eyes met Wills for a few brief seconds before looking back down at yours.
“The most that we can legally do is charge her as a minor. We can request for things such as community service and probation if jail doesn’t stick.” Jay told you carefully, unsure of how you were going to react. “Her parents are rich and have a lot of influence but we’ll be pushing hard, don’t you worry.”
You hummed, fully understanding the means Jay was willing to go through just for you. You couldn’t help but feel guilt but you also couldn’t help the tears of anger that began to blur your vision.
“Hey, hey. It’s all going to be fine, alright?” Will said, squeezing your hand three times before lowering the bedside barriers and sitting besides your legs. “No matter what happens we’re always here and-“
“And worse case scenario, we just happen to know tons of people who are willing to do a favour or two if we need them.” Jay smirked, cutting of Will’s thoughtful words with his own that hinted as illegal violent behaviour.
“Jay, you are literally in my ER. Don’t even try it.” Will said with the smallest smile on his face while trying to sound serious. The threat was very clearly implicated though when Jay held his hands up in surrender.
“Okay but Y/N, let me remind you that Hank Voight is my boss-“
“Jay!”

My main problem with Salyra is in fact her lack of empathy towards the MC and her presumption that MC should show sensitivity while interacting with her other child after being ambushed.
We can say all we want about Alhf being an inadequate father, but at least he always tried to put himself in MC’s shoes and he understood how to the MC his behaviour would appear lacking to the point that he is confused and surprised when the MC show affection for him. Many MC may even feel that Ahlf never loved them and is using them to save Irus, but in one of Erlan’s letter we find out that Elran has promised to protect the MC if Alhf helped Irus claim the crown, so even in this situation he is prioritising the MC.
Even Sargon shows more consideration to the MC’s feelings than Salyra does, if they react negatively to his questioning about their heritage because he is aware of the treatment that half-ishari receive in Cyre. That make me think that Salyra too should be well aware of this and instead she comes across as someone that has deluded herself in believing that the MC and Ahlf have been living happily in Cyre.
I can understand that she has been prisoner for a couple of months and so is a little out of it, but MC has seen their whole life turn upside-down, their only family killed in front of them (and if Salyra is the reason for Erlan early death before the plan to ensure Irus’s coronation came to fruition, then she is responsible of all this pain the MC is feeling now 👀). Salyra didn’t even stop thinking about her estranged child wellbeing and need for space, she was just thinking about hers and her other daughter needs.
I will say that at this moment I don’t think Salyra has ever prioritise the MC, because if she had she would have given her child to her brother when he begged her to go with him in Vinia, while she stayed in Ishari where her fate was. Keeping MC with her regardless of the danger give me the impression that she was prioritising the goal for which she had the MC not their safety, especially because I don’t think Salyra thought that Erlan would risk war against Vinia just to kill her child.
And now the sentence in Ahlf’s letter to MC about Salyra making sure that the MC’s blood belonged to the Ishari people sounds rather ominous…👀
I have to admit that I am loving the parental angst, it is the best angst 👌😋
I'm really glad you mentioned her lack of understanding/empathy to the MC's situation. Salyra means well - or at least to her she does, so it goes over her head that she's being inconsiderate with the MC. When she first sees the MC, she automatically assumes that they're there with Ahlf and from what she knows, the MC has had a good life in Salt Bay so seeing them so distraught confuses her.
There is a goal attached to the MC's birth but it didn't come to fruition - or who knows? We're only in Part 2 of the game 😆 I can say that Salyra thought that she and Ahlf would work things out and she'd have found a way to let the MC get to know him while still living in Ishari so it's one of the main reasons for not giving the MC to Belahm - she had hoped to eventually fix her relationship with Ahlf.
There is something rather ominous about that line, isn't there? Funny how everyone has mentioned the MC's eyes despite it being the same colour as Ahlf's 👀 Whatever could have happened 😏
Parental angst is hands-down the best angst. I know some prefer angst in romance but I feel nothing cuts deeper than the pain of rejection/abandonment from a parent 😆

Farewell, Sidera (For the Last Time) Part 1
Tumblr media
“Woah this feels…luxury!” Louie exclaimed as they entered the first floor of the nightclub.
“That statue kinda creeps me out though,” Sid pointed at the statue.
“Oh, that’s one of our surveillances!” Lilith proudly replied.
“That’s the CCTV?” Louie asked.
“Cool, no?” Lilith grinned.
Tumblr media
Helen cleared her throat. “Louie, I’m glad to see you here all grown up. Very. But I asked Sid to come alone.”
“Auntie, don’t be mad,” Sid said. “I asked him to come. It’s my first time traveling to the city, okay?”
Tumblr media
Her lips thinned. “Alright.”
Tumblr media
Caleb sighed.
Tumblr media
Caleb had fixed them a charcuterie board, while Lilith made teen-friendly drinks. Helen relayed what happened while she was away.
Tumblr media
“The vampire attacker, Percival, I wasn’t able to kill him. Lord Straud stopped us. He was contracted to kill our family, Sid. But that contract wasn’t just a measly paper, the contract was magically sealed, and he won’t be released from it until he gets the job done – ”
“ – which is?” Sid asked.
“Which is to kill the last Swanson, Sid. Lord Straud managed to calm him down, so he no longer attacks me, but I think the contract considers you the last Swanson, sweetie. That’s why I asked you to come here. A…procedure. The contract ends when blood is spilled. But it doesn’t have to end with someone’s death. Just a literal drop of blood, and they can do their magic and end the contract.”
Tumblr media
“That’s the reason you made me come here?” Sid was horrified. “Watcher, I’m so glad I took Louie with me. Whose blood is getting spilled? Is it yours? Is it mine? Why am I the last Swanson? Aren’t you a Swanson too?”
“Do you not trust me?”
Something dark twisted in Helen’s face. Sid stammered, “I – I do! It’s just…!”
Tumblr media
“We’re here, Sid. We can keep you safe! We’re stronger than a teenager. Can he pack a punch to that damned Asvang if he ever lashed out? No! Listen to me Sidera, this is for your own good. After that, I promise I’ll get you the revenge we wanted. I will kill him, Sidera. I will. For you.”
“Helen, you’re starting again, calm down,” Caleb was on her side immediately with a blink of an eye.
Tumblr media
“Helen? You’re Helen now? What?”
Lilith tried to explain, appearing beside Sid. “Sid, she had to change her identity to make sure Percival wouldn’t be easy to find her.”
“Which is useless when you consider she didn’t kill him…”
Tumblr media
Helen’s lips trembled, “Sid, sweetie, please, listen to me, do this for me. Please. If you promise to do this, I promise I’ll kill him.”
Tumblr media
“What is this commotion?”

Note
As the sun was still shining brightly in the first day of November, there was yet another visitor stopping by at one flower shop in Ueno.
This time the visitor was a young man with pink fluffy hair and a tatsumaki headband.
“Pardon my intrusion~ Oh, ohayo☆ Happy birthday and glad to see you today, Heisha-san.”
Greeting the nun with a big hearty smile on his face, the boy walked up closer to the flower shelf where Shisuta was standing
“My name is Asahi from the Harumatsuya shop in Nara!  And I’ve come here today as the representative of my team! YuuYu was going to relay presents at other division so he sadly can't come today. Most importantly… We’ve got some presents for you as well!”
With such a jovial voice, he handed something over to the birthday lady.
“This one was a handmade bookmark from him. He told me he had found this four-leaf clover once during one of his time doing the club activity with his friends in the park, and that time he was kinda into the resin art too. So, he decided to make one himself.”
Tumblr media
“Four-leaf clover doesn’t only mean someone a good luck. I heard that each of their leaves are said to stand for four things. The first leaf is for hope, the second is for faith, the next is for love, and therefore the last one is for luck. In my opinion, I really think that it would suit your liking! And here, let’s move to the next gift~”
Asahi opened his bag and picked one paper box out of it carefully. He looked so proud when he opened its lid to showed what’s inside to her.
“Proudly presented from my family store! This is the nerikiri set I made myself! After all, flower designs and such are my specialty! I bet it would go even better if eaten together with some hot green tea.”
Tumblr media
“Lastly, these are from Saigo-san. Speaking about tea and he actually gives Heisha-san the teacups haha. They’re the product from his cousin who loves ceramics though. Pouring some tea in these and they will look like there is literally a fish swimming inside. Kinda having the wabi-sabi feelings to me, I think?”
Tumblr media
As the nun looked at all of the items presented by the wagashi maker, a smile appeared on her face as she bowed respectfully to him.
"Thank you very much, Tomoharu-san," Shisuta said, still smiling. "I am truly grateful for these."
Feeling she needed to reciprocate the young man for his kindness, Shisuta turned around for a brief second and began pulling out an assortment of flowers before gently placing them in a vase full of water.
"Please, take these." Shisuta said, handing him a bouquet of Dahlias. "Dahlias are a very beautiful flower. Not only because of their appearance, but because they symbolize compassion and kindness, which is what you and your companions have shown today." Bowing once more, Shisuta bid the young pink-haired man a farewell before looking at the treasures he had left behind. Smiling at the bookmark, she tucked it away, making sure to use it later.
She was truly in awe of the teacups that Asahi's teammate had given her. As she bit into one of the wagashi left for her, she was a bit upset that she didn't have any tea to good with them. It would have been a good time to utilize Saigo-san's gift. But she promised herself she would definitely use them at her earliest connivence.

EPISODE 7 - tangerine trees + marmalade skies (pending Sanji's approval)
Episode 6 right over here
Buggy's improv singing skills are unmatched
Sanji is weirdly confident in Nami's character despite only knowing her as a traitor who stole their map and tried to kill Luffy.
They really smoothed out Bellemere's character in the show, which is a disappointment. She's a very tough, abrasive woman who wants to build a family for herself - likely to make impulsive, dumb decisions (like taking in two kids she found on a battlefield) and I wish we saw more of that
Was Arlong Park always meant to be like a theme park? Bc it's quite an eff you to Buggy
I like that Nami was just predisposed to theft. She always saw it as the answer to her problems, even before the traumatic incident
The pinwheels are sweet but they're supposed to be the Genzo's thing. So now we miss out on a) Luffy's weird obsession with the pinwheel in a hat and b) the adorableness of the scene with Genzo and baby Nami
Changing it so neither Nojiko nor the Coco Villagers know about Nami's plan takes away from her character. It also takes away from the village, bc in the anime they knew Nami was sacrificing everything for them, so they played along to protect her. In general, they downplay how the villagers are always looking out for each other, which is important bc Nami at first appears to be the exception - a girl who only cares about herself - but it's revealed that she is just like them. It was always a community trying to help each other - trying to hide the girls bc they knew Bellemere couldn't pay, trying to get them out safe, etc
Zeff and Garp have more chemistry than is entirely necessary. Why do so many ppl in this show have such powerful divorce energy?? Zeff's wink? Like, what the hell guys
"you don't know women. They never say what they mean" <- Sanji, please stop.
Zoro cutting off Luffy's usual introduction with the lie about being pirate hunters, and Luffy going along with it?? That is a display of trust, right after Zoro's almost death, is so good.
Sanji's flirtatious nature and cooking ability gets the Strawhats a win in the form of intel from Nojiko. I'm glad he has this chance to demonstrate how his skill set fits in with the others, esp since his flirting is embarrassing bad still
I like that Zoro comes onto the roof to talk to Luffy like, "convince me I'm wrong. Nami says she wants nothing to do with us, she left us. I don't have your faith in ppl, so convince me that you believe in her so I can too"
Arlong taking offense at the marine dude's comment about being "smarter than ppl give you credit for" is clearly a tactic he uses often. Why am I not surprised?
Helmeppo is so offended when Koby implies that he and Luffy are similar lol
How does Zeff know Luffy is Garp's grandkid?? How is this common knowledge?
I love the comparisons between Luffy and Gold Roger. It's cheesy and obvious (esp in the anime) but I still really enjoy it
Nami is one of the smartest ppl in the show, esp in terms of street smarts, so the fact that she falls for Arlong's promise is just so much worse. It was the one bit of childish hope and navite she let herself have. It was her stupid dream - the kind she made fun of everyone else for having.
(I am having a moment of reckoning with Nami as a character. Sorry girl for being mean earlier)
Nami's moment with Luffy at the end is so beautiful. Luffy admitting he doesn't know what's going on, he doesn't know the whole story, but that he doesn't need to. He's just on her side. And then he puts his hat on her and we all cry with Nami. He goes and rounds up the other Strawhats, and they don't need an explanation either. Their captain calls, so they're on it
Season finale coming right up!

Ominis Gaunt x reader visit to Feldcroft
My first time posting to be kind 😅
Tumblr media
Apparition, while in theory seemed like an easy way to see your friends in Feldcroft during the long summer months, turned out hard to master as almost the entire summer had passed and you still could not get more than across the lawn at your families estate. You let out a sigh in frustration and returned the book that you had picked up from your fathers library. Scanning the directions for the spell over and over again you close your eyes clenching the small paper package you were determined to deliver. All at once you felt an enormous amount of pressure then your eyes popped open and you felt like you would vomit; knees buckling. But it was a cool afternoon breeze that met your face in stark contrast to the hot summer sun that once was warming your cheeks. You see Sebastian and Anne having an animated conversation through the window of their home.
“Y/N” a beloved voice calls behind you making your heart stop.
“Ominis!” You half shout turning around to see his confused but not displeased face. “How did you do that? Are you alright? ” Ominis questions you having heard your appearance followed by a not so ladylike fight with your stomach.
“Practice makes perfect.” you wink at him.
“I’m glad to see you and Sebastian here. Anne forgave him then?” Ominis nodded
“With the concession he gives up trying to find her cure and no more dark magic. Things are still weird but they are healing.”
“I wasn’t sure if you would be here but I am glad you are” you admit. Ominis takes a couple of steps to close the gap between the two of you quietly. You can feel the heat rising to your cheeks. Enthusiastically swinging the door open with a crash against the wall behind and before Ominis fully closed the gap Sebastian runs toward you.
“Why haven't you returned my owls? I have so much to tell you!” He bellows bounding towards you. Ominis blushes stopping his advance. Was he going to kiss me? You wonder. Sebastian had grown over the summer; he was taller, trimmer, and tanner.
“Wasn’t allowed to send a single owl all summer.” You shrug off the questions and pull a small parcel from your cloak.
“I need to see Anne.” Sebastian furrows his brow face growing serious. Stopping in his stacks unsure what to do for a moment remembering his promises to Anne but eventually he trustingly leads you in the house.
“I found something that might help Anne.” You start as everyone sits at the small table in the main room. As Anne opens the box you continue. “That is a powerful talisman” you gesture at the small blue stone on a silver chain.
“I stole it from an unfortunately unsavory friend of my fathers. It wards off physical pain. It works well against curses so it should be exactly what you need.” Anne placed the chain around her neck. Almost instantly her eyes filled with tears. Hovering over her with worry etched into his features Sebastian placed a hand on her shoulder.
“It’s alright Anne, something has to work eventually.” Anne shook her head through the tears and said
“No, no, these are not sad tears Sebastian. My pain… it’s gone!” Sebastian leaped into the air with a whoop and holler rushing to hug his sister.
“This can not be a permanent solution though because you won’t feel any pain and I am worried you will be hurt by not noticing something so we all have to be extra attentive to watch you this year at Hogwarts.”
“Hogwarts?” The three of them echo back.
“I’ve seen to it all Anne, you are enrolled back at Hogwarts. But before you thank me, thank Deek and Professor Weasley. Deek has been my connection to the school and we all have been conspiring to bring you back.” Anne hugs you crying and you uncomfortably pat her head. You never have been good at comforting people.
“I’m sorry I haven't written any of you. My family forbids my sending owls. The only person I have talked to all summer has been Deek who apperated into my room secretly to check on me and update me on my beasts in my vivarium… I really should go back now if I can.”
“You have to leave now? There is so much to discuss!” Sebastian complained loudly. You smile apologetically.
“We will see each other in two weeks when we are all back at Hogwarts.” You approach Ominis blushing holding a letter under your cloak. He had also grown. He wore his hair more relaxed, he was now without a doubt taller then Sebastian, and his shoulders had broadened. Pale blue eyes smile at you causing your heart to melt.
“I’m sorry you have to go.” He said sadly, taking your hands in his. Large slender hands envelope yours. Blushing you put your forehead on his chest. You can feel the expansion as he breathes in your scent.
“I missed you this summer.” He quietly says so that only you can hear. You feel so safe and calm in his embrace. Feet turning to led at the thought of having to leave. The fear of what your father would do to you if he ever found you sends shivers through your body. Ominis puts his arms around sensing your trepidation. You remember the letter you intended for Ominis. You never had expressed feelings for the other but you knew you were closer than friends you intended on telling him how you felt through this letter.
“Get a room!” Sebastian yells, throwing an apple at your back bringing you back to reality all of your courage gone. You sigh and take a step back slowly drawing your hands from Ominis reluctant grasp, sad worried expression making it all the harder.
“I should go. Although I’m still not sure if I can” a laugh escapes your lips “ I only got here by accident. I'm not entirely sure how I did it.” You admit.
“How did you get here?” Sebastian asks. You explain how you spent the summer trying to learn and this afternoon was just a flook. You all make your way out to the lawn.
“See all of you in two weeks.” You try to make light of your departure. Letting your eyes take in the image of Ominis one last time for the next few long weeks.
“1…2…3” you say to yourself as you squeeze your eyes closed. Enormous pressure, vomit, and a warm summer sun. You are home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for reading tell me if I should do more or leave this stuff to the pros! I have a whole HC where the MC comes from a pureblood family but her father fell in love with a muggle and got her pregnant but after she died he got super mean and married a pureblood who is horrible. And you and Ominis fall in love and stuff.
And just like that, Becca was nervous.  It was a month later, now into her sixth month, Becca was nervously getting ready.  She pulled her blonde curls to the side, pulling a hair tie as her engagement ring blinked at her.  She took a steadying breath as she looked in the mirror.  Her brown eyes sparkled even with worry etched in her face.
“Angel? Are you ready?”
Becca looked up at Chris and took him in.  The man lived in sweats and t-shirts, so it was truly shocking to see him in a blue button down and slacks.  Her libido shot up and Chris could see it in her eyes.  “Angel, we have to…”
“We have time,” she pouted. She placed her hands on his chest, sliding them around.
“No, we don’t.  I promise, after.”
“We have lunch after,” she whined.
Chris chuckled.  He wrapped his arms around his fiancé, his baby momma. “Promise, if you are a good girl, I’ll do the thing.” He kissed her sweetly.
“Promise?”
“Promise Angel. Now, c’mon. We’re gonna be late.” Chris helped Becca down the stairs where Charlie was watching cartoons, Dodger’s head in her lap. “Let’s go munchkin.”
“But daddy…”
“No buts.  Everyone is waiting for us.”
Charlie huffed as she got off the sofa and put on her sweater with an assist from Chris.  “Why do I hafta wear a dress, Daddy?”
“It’s a special day peanut,” Becca explained.  “I’m wearing a dress.”
Charlie pondered that for a moment before nodding and heading for the door.  “Can Dodger come?”
“Not today”, Chris said as he grabbed the keys and the family made it out the door.  Twenty minutes later, they made it to their destination and walked up the steps where Robert was waiting for them.
“Hey guys! I’ve got all the paperwork.  You ready?”
Chris smiled. “We’re ready.”
Shoes clicked against the marble of the lobby as Robert directed everyone to the right room.  When they entered, Becca stopped.  It was full.  The courtroom was full of their friends, family and teammates. Chris squeezed her hand and pulled her forward.  They sat at the table in front, Charlie in Chris’s lap.
All rise.”  The bailiff called out to the court. Everyone stood up as the judge entered.
“Please be seated.”  The judge organized his papers and when he looked up, Becca recognized him as the same judge from the custody hearing. Her grip on Chris’s hand tightens slightly and he looked down at her with concern.  She shook her head slightly and she stared at the man. The judge smiled when he saw Becca.  “Miss Rooney, I’m glad to see you here under much more pleasurable circumstances.”
She didn’t make a sound, but the judge chuckled.  “Don’t worry, I am happy for this outcome.  Now, let’s get to business. Is the child, Charlotte Julia Rooney, present?”
Robert whispered into Charlie’s ear, and she nodded.  “Present!” She raised her hand, to the chuckle of the entire court.
“Excellent.  And the adopting parent, Christopher Robert Evans?”
“Present, sir,” Chris said.
“All documents are in order?”
“They are, sir,” Robert said.  “The home study, financial review and consent to termination of rights from the natural father, Thomas Brady.”
“Just confirming that the natural father understands that he no longer will have any rights to the child in question as of today?” The judge turned his head to look at the crowd, causing Becca to frown.  Until she heard…
“I understand, your honor.”  Tom stood up in the court. Becca held her breath. “I just want what’s best for Charlotte and that’s Mr. Evans.”
“That’s very noble of you Mr. Brady. Ok, well, that part is settled.  Mr. Evans, do you accept responsibility for the upbringing of Charlotte?”
“Yes, I do.” Chris beamed at the judge.
“And Miss Rooney, you are ok with Mr. Evans taking on a permanent, parental role for your child?”
“Yes,” she whispered.  She cleared her throat, “yes, sir,” she said louder.  It was overwhelming, Tom’s admission on top of this day finally happening.
“Excellent.  Very well.  In the case of adoption for Charlotte Julia Rooney, I hereby grant full parental custody to Rebecca Ann Rooney and Christopher Robert Evans, effective immediately.  I have also included an order to have her last name amended so she will be known hereafter as Charlotte Julia Evans.”
He paused and he looked at the couple.  “It’s rare to have a family custody dispute end with consent from the natural parent and with enthusiasm but it’s clear that you three, well, four are a family.  Congratulations on your new arrival and your impending marriage.  This court is adjourned.” He hit his gavel and the court erupted in cheers.
Chris wrapped his arms around his girls and Becca cursed her hormones as she began to cry.  The nightmare of Tom’s custody battle, the fight for Chris’s position on the team, the possibility of leaving home, their surprise baby and now having Chris actually be Charlie’s father had gotten to her. She sobbed as Chris rubbed her back. “Its ok, Angel. We made it, don’t cry.”
“Don’t cry Mama. I love you.”  Charlie petted her head, being up higher than normal to Becca.
Becca calmed and Scarlet pulled her away to give her a hug and to wipe her face a little before releasing her to her family.  Lisa had Chris and Charlie wrapped in a hug, while her parents were hugging each other.  But Becca could see the one face that was still in the room, smiling but a look of pain in the eyes.  She walked over careful.  “Hi Tom.”
“Hi Becca. You look beautiful.”
“Thanks. Umm, you didn’t have to come down here.”
“Yes.  Yes, I did.  I wanted to say sorry again.  For putting you through all of this. It wasn’t fair on anybody.” Tom bowed his head.
“I forgive you.” His head snapped up and saw her smile. She extended her hand and Tom shook it.
“If you need anything, for yourself or Charlie, just let me know.  I may not be her father anymore, but I still want to make sure you both are taken care of.”
“I appreciate it.” She turned to see Chris looking at her curiously. “I better get back.”
“Right.  Well congratulations on everything.  He’s a lucky man.” Tom nodded to Chris and walked out of the courtroom.
“What did he want?” Chris asked, wrapping an arm around Becca’s waist.
“To say sorry and congratulations.” Becca leaned into her fiancé. “Said if Charlie ever needed anything to let him know.”  She shrugged. “If it helps his conscience…”
Chris frowned. “You know I’ll take care of my family, right?”
“Of course, Chris. I’m not worried about that.” She looked up at him and could see something in his eyes.  “Baby, you have taken better care of us than anyone else bar my parents. I wouldn’t have said yes if I didn’t think you would be the best parent or husband.  I love you.”
“I love you too Angel.” He sighed and kissed the top of her head.  “I’m sorry for being an idiot.”
“You’re forgiven.” She looked around the room.  “I guess we need to get to celebrating with this lot.”
“Yeah, your dad organized a luncheon at the team facility and Ma is going to take Charlie with her tonight.”
“Have I ever mentioned how much I love your mother?”
**
Spring turned to Summer and the end of summer brought in a new season of football.  Chris and Becca spent the summer planning their wedding, selecting a Saturday in April, two years to the date of when their first met.
Now she found herself in her last days of pregnancy, walking with her daughter and fiancé to the stadium.  It was the home opener once again and Chris was nervous.  He always was until right before when Becca would call and remind him that she was in his corner, always.  As he walked his heavily pregnant fiancé in, he asked her question after question.  “Are you sure you’re ok? Do you need anything?  Its going to be ok that you’re here, right? Because I don’t want you to go into labor and…”
“Christopher!”
He stopped.  “Again with the full name,” he sighed.
“Baby, you’re driving me crazy.  Listen, please do no worry about me ok?  Your mom, my mom, my dad, Scarlett, Lizzy and Ashley are all going to be in the box with me. My maternity bag is with me just in case.  I promise, they will call to the field if, and only if, that happens, so don’t call after every series.  Your head,” she tapped his forehead, “is in the game until otherwise, you hear me?”
“But…”
“Ok, I’m going home where no one will be.”
“NO! No, ok, I’m sorry.  Just worried about you and our peanut, ok?”
“I know. And baby, there is an ambulance here, just in case, so it will be fine. I love you.”
“I love you too.” He sighed and pressed his forehead to hers. “You and Charlie and Peanut are the most important things to me. I’m sorry.”
“Its ok baby.  Throw a touchdown for me, ok?”
He smiled and kissed her forehead. “You got it Angel.”  He looked up to see her father waiting.  “Thanks for getting here early.”
“Not a problem Chris. Less mob is less stress.  Have a good game.”
The family made sure Becca was comfortable, well as comfortable as being nine months allowed her to be before kick-off.  The Steelers had won the opening season game against the Ravens on the road but now hosted the Dallas Cowboys.  Chris was brilliant for the first half, throwing one touchdown and running in another. He called up during half time.
“Are you…”
“You finish that sentence Evans and we’re getting a divorce.”
Chris chuckled. “Can’t divorce me if we ain’t married yet Angel.”
“Try me. I’m fine. You are doing great. How’s the shoulder?”
“Feels good. Thanks Angel. I’ll see you after. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
As she hung up, Becca felt a twinge in her abdomen. It stopped her for a second but then went away. She shook it off and continued to watch the game.  About half way into the third quarter, Becca stood up to get a water but doubled over in pain, crying out.  In a flash, Avery and Lisa were at her side. “Becca?”
“I’m ok, but… owww!  Ok,” she panted, “I think this boy wants out.” She looked at her family with tears in her eyes.
“Alright, lets get to the cars,” Avery said as Ashley scooped up the maternity bag.
“Charlie?” Becca called.
“I have her Bex,” Scarlett replied.
“Let me call down to the field.” Rick turned to the field phone and called down for Chris.
She tries to listen as Rick talked to Ben, but the pain drowns everything out. “Daddy?”
“Ok baby, Ben is getting Chris.”  Rick took her hand.  “You squeeze if you need to.”
“It hurts, daddy,” she sobbed as she tried to walk down to the exit.  The pain gripped her again, weakening her knees.
“Avery, get the paramedics up here!” Rick yelled as security cleared the people around them and laid Becca down. “Its ok baby, its gonna be fine.  Just breathe.”
It took the paramedics two minutes to arrive and put Becca on a stretcher. “She’s going to Mercy.  Anyone riding with her?”
“I am,” Avery said as they rushed to the ambulance.  Just as they pulled away, Chris came running up, still in his uniform.  “What the hell happened?”
“She went into labor, and she was in a lot of pain,” Rick explained.  “Go get changed and I’ll drive you.”
**
Becca could swear that she was being torn in half.  As soon as she arrived at the hospital, her water broke, and she was 8 centimeters dilated with no sign of Chris.  “Momma,” she pleaded with her mother.  “Make it stop.  He’s supposed to be here.”
“He’s coming Becca.”
“I need him, I… oh god, I think… I think I need to push.”
The nurse overheard her.  “Ok, let me grab the doctor.”  She ran out of the room as Becca began to cry.
“Why is this so fast?  I was in labor for 26 hours with Charlie,” she cried.
“I don’t know, honey, just stay calm.  It’s gonna be ok.”  The door opened and the doctor came in.
“Becca, I’m gonna check, ok?”  Becca nodded and the doctor did his exam.  “You are at 10 centimeters and fully effaced so its time to push.”
Becca shook her head. “No, I can’t.  My fiancé, the father, he’s not here yet.”
“Becca, I’m sorry but your body’s gonna do this regardless.”  He turned to the nurses.  “Let’s get prepped for delivery.”
She looked up at her mom.  “He can’t miss this.”
“He won’t.  He’ll…” the doors opened, and Chris ran in, still breathing hard from running.
“Did I miss it?”
“Chris!” Becca cried, tears of pain, joy, frustration, relief at the sign of her love finally with her.
Chris ran to her side and took her hand, kissing her sweaty forehead.  “I’m sorry Angel.  Traffic was a nightmare.  Where are we?”
Avery smiled.  “We are getting ready to push.  Just in time.”
“Alright.  You must be dad?” The doctor smiled. “Alright Becca, next contraction, give me a big push.”
Becca took a breath and bear down, pushing as hard as she could. She breathed hard, looking at Chris.  “You are never touching me again.”
“Whatever you say Angel.  C’mon, one more time,” he held her hand and body up to push, smiling to himself.
After 20 minutes, Becca stopped.  “I can’t.”
“Yes, you can Angel.  You are the strongest woman I know.” Chris leaned down to her.  “You are my Angel, and you can do anything.  One more, baby, give me one more.”
Becca gritted her teeth and pushed.  “The head is out,” the doctor announced.  “One more push!” And suddenly a wail filled the room as Becca laid down.
“Congratulations, a perfect baby boy!”
“He’s here?”  Becca looked at Chris and then her chest as her new baby was placed on her.  “Hi! Hi baby! Hi!” As tears streamed down her face.
“Oh my god, Becca, he’s beautiful.”  Chris stared at his son as his own tears fell.  “Thank you, Angel. Thank you.”  He kissed her forehead as his son began to settle with the warmth of his mother.
“Ok, mom, we need to take some measurements and get you cleaned up so we need to take him.”
“Take him?” Becca panicked.  “Chris?”
“I’m going with him.  Relax Angel.  You did amazing.” He kissed her softly and then followed his son to the other side where he was measured and weighed.  As they cleaned up the goo on him, Chris couldn’t explain the feeling of warmth spreading in his chest.  It was just like with Charlie, a pure love that was just there now.
“Ready dad?” The nurse smiled as she picked up his son.
“Yeah, I…”
“Open your shirt so he can feel you.  Skin to skin is the best bonding right now.” Chris did as she said, and she laid this tiny human onto his chest.
“Hi son.  Hi.” He cradled him as he settled against him.
“Does he have a name?”
Becca smiled.  “Benjamin Richard Evans. Ben.”
“Well happy birthday Ben.” The nurse produced the Steelers signature towel, the Terrible Towel and placed it over the baby, a tradition at Mercy.  “Welcome to Steelers Country.”
Hey there,
I am so glad your requests are open because i just LOVE your writing. Stay the way you are love, youre so talented.
Now here is my request: Id like to request a story about Finn shelby in Season 1. Remember the episode where the Boys were at the fair fighting with the Lee Boys? (Finn stayed in the car while that happened). I would love to read a Story in which 11 year old Finn tries to „help“ his brothers fight the Lee Boys after their inappropiate comments, to impress his brothers. But it kinda ends up in him getting hurt? Hope this makes sense. Everything is up to u ofc, id just love to read a bit of angst.
Sending you all my love
Anon
Babe you are so so kind. I'm always nervous when I post and really you are too sweet. I hope this lives up to your expectations ♥️ thank you for waiting and for this adorable idea. I'm missing Finn so I was super happy to write something.
Takes place in season one - no spoilers for season 6
Warnings: violence, blood, peaky stuff
Tumblr media
Finn wasn't used to feeling such luck. He sat on the edge of his bed quickly tying his shoelaces. Not only was the rare sun shining brightly in the sky, his brothers were taking him to the fair.
He thought about all the things he wanted to do, still slightly expecting the looming disappointment to come crashing down on him. He would have the whole day with them doing kid stuff, this was possibly the rarest thing that had ever happened in history. No Christmas or birthday could compare to what this day had promised, making it feel too good to be true…. Maybe this wasn't going to be a simple trip to the fair? Realisation set in as he stared at the ugly wallpaper. Maybe Tommy thought it was time he got brought into things…
He was ready an hour early sitting on the bottom step on the staircase. He had on his best clothes, and tried to clean the scuffs in his only pair of shoes. Looking in the mirror he took in his appearance, John’s old cap was slightly loose on his head, and the stolen pocket watch felt heavy in his pocket, but overall he looked good. He looked ready.
“You're ready early, eh?” Tommy said coming down the stairs. He only responded with what he hoped was a cool nod. “Looking sharp”
Pride swelled in his chest at his brother’s approval, he quickly got up and followed Tommy out the door. He stayed close to Tommy’s side as he checked the family car over. What they were looking for, he had no idea, but if Tommy was taking the time to do it that meant it was important. Finally he shut the car lid and gave it a soft pat.
He watched as Tommy’s blue eyes took in the light blue sky, always watching and looking. He mirrored the action, looking up at the sky trying to figure out if there was a gypsy message in the white shading of the sparse clouds. There was so much for him to learn and so much that he just didn't understand.
Arthur and John lumbered into the truck laughing and stumbling. There was a stark difference between Tommy and them since the war, it was something he thought about often. What type of man would he be? Laughing with them, blowing things up and stumbling home every night? Feared by all and still somehow loved by many? Or would he be more like Tommy…
He sat in the back seat, nodding along trying to understand the stuff they were talking about. Dealings in china town, something about stolen goods. His stomach flipped as he thought about what he was about to be dragged into. What if he had to kill someone? That’s how most members are initiated into gangs right?
His hands shook so he crossed his arms and leaned back into the seat, watching his older brothers from under his peaky cap.
“Going to make a stop on the way.” Tommy announced easily as he pulled up on a dirt road.
“Tom what’s this about eh? Told the boy we would take em to the fair” Arthur announced, making the boy's stomach twist even more. He assumed that they were in on whatever it was….
A gypsy camp came into view, his eyes went wide as he tried to take it in and assess it like he felt Tommy would. He had only been to a camp once with Polly when he was small.
“Not the Lee boys! What mess are you dragging us into?” John groaned. The Lee boys?
“Stay in the car!” Arthur ordered before he climbed out of the car. Finn sat very still as his mind raced.
Arthur told him to stay in the car, not Tommy. And these were Tommy’s plans, that Arthur hadn't known about…. So what if Tommy expected him to get out of the car? He didn't want to miss his chance… This could also be a test, if he will listen to Aruthur or Tommy. Really, he should listen to whoever made the plans… Right?
Every argument landed with him getting out the car to ensure his place in the family legacy. He’ll be the best fighter they have ever seen, then maybe Tommy would have time to smile more.
He got out the car quietly and tried to keep his shoulders back and his head low. He stopped just a bit behind them, where he watched Tommy flip a coin. It landed and Tommy tossed the keys to a man. Arthur cursed loudly. Disbelief ran through him, he’d watched Tommy flip many coins over the years and he’d never lost once.
“Arthur! Arthur! I promised Johnny dogs he could have a go in the car if he lost.” Tommy was about to light a cigarette.
“We won? Eh of course we won” Arthur gave a nod. Words were spoken from further down past Finn’s line of sight. He didn’t quite catch what was said but he watched as Tommy lined his body up for a fight. Finn tried to do the same, puffing his chest out slightly, standing up straight. The boys set in on the men, and Finn ran in behind them. He ran towards a man about to grab the back of Arthur’s jacket. He took the cap off of his hand trying to grip the itchy fabric in his sweaty fingers, hopeful that the blades were pointing the right way. He wished they would have let him practice first before the real thing.
What happened? He wasn't entirely sure. It was a mess of mud and blood, he tried to hit and punch everything he could. He got hit a few times but it only made him want to hit harder and faster than before. He swung the cap against the man as hard as he could.
Then it was dead quiet. A silence he had never heard before having grown up in the constant chaos of watery lane. The edges of his vision were slightly blurred and he felt the sun rubbing against his face.
Tommy came into view with a serious look on his face. Was this it then? Did he do it right? Was Tommy striding towards him to shake his hand, give him his own hat that fit better?
His body tensed up as his brother picked him up from under his arms like he used to when he was small. He was shut into the back seat with John stuffing into the back seat next to him. John didn’t look happy, which made the boy start to wonder if maybe he messed up. He expected John to laugh and slap him on the back with pride, but instead his red hands were gripping and touching his face and shoulders.
“Are you fucking hurt?!” It hit his ears as a whisper, then as the car kicked into gear and spun around everything came at him at once.
Arthur was shouting at Tommy, John was shaking him slightly still yelling. Looking into the rearview mirror Tommy looked impossibly pale…. He with out a doubt fucked up.
“No.” He said finally answering John. “No ‘m not hurt or nothing. I’m fine” He sat up straight and winced slightly at the sharp pain in his ribs.
“He’s gonna have bruises but he’s not cut” John announced with a strange look on his face. The shouting stopped for a moment and all he could hear was his heart pounding.
“Can’t take him home like this. Pol will kill us.” John said lighting a cigarette and handing it off to Finn.
“What are you giving him a fookin’ smoke for?!” Arthur snapped.
“I’d say he earned it” John mumbled. He looked at their faces and then looked down at himself. There was a lot of red but it was someone else's. His rib and jaw hurt, but he’d had far worse beatings than this.
Tommy drove faster than Finn had ever seen. His smaller frame slid across the back seat colliding with John many times before the car lurched to a stop. John’s arm came across his front to prevent his face from going into the seat in front of him.
“Thanks” He murmured.
Tommy opened his door and picked him up again. He tried to shift to get out of his hold but it was like iron. Remembering the look on his face as he drove he thought better than to start making demands.
“You're bringing him here?!” John started up arguing when a tall slender lady opened the door. She was very pretty and took in the situation with an unimpressed look that could rival Tommy’s.
“S’not really a place for children is it?” She said, stepping aside.
“Look I just need you to help me clean em up. Eh?” Something in his voice made her face change. She pointed to the couch and ran to the bathroom.
“Na! Miss, you can’t put me on the couch. I’ll make it dirty.” He couldn't stand the thought of messing up her couch. It was worn and old, like everything he’d ever known. But he didn’t know there were women as pretty as her who also knew of such things.
“It’s fine love.” She said softly. Before helping him take his top off. He was beyond uncomfortable, but he was grateful that his brothers were standing in the kitchen. “What happened?” She asked seriously.
“I didn't want to wait in the car. I - I - Just wanted to help. Thought that-” His voice ran off. He felt pathetic.
“Well I don’t want to know what the other guy looks like.” She gave him a wink and his face flushed.
“How is he?” Tommy called from the kitchen, his voice sounding slightly hoarse.
“He’s fine, just a bit bruised up. Ribs aren't broken.” She shouted as she cleaned all the blood off his face.
Eventually she stood up and walked over to a desk overflowing with papers. She handed him a candy in a red wrapper.
“Thank you.” He said honestly, he couldn't remember the last time someone was so careful with him.
“If you're ever in trouble, you can come to me. But don't bring your brothers along eh?” She ruffled his hair and he wished he didn't see the sadness in her eyes. He hoped that they were nice to such a good lady.
Finn got up and followed her into the kitchen. The shirt she gave him was much too big but it was clean.
Tommy sat at the kitchen table with his face in his hands.
“Tommy?” Finn started. He cleared this throat and hated the way his brother’s cold eyes landed on him. “I’m sorry, I just wanted to help - I” He shook his head, he wanted to say a bunch of stuff. Something clever and cold that showed he could handle it, but he just couldn't make the words come out.
“Don’t you ever pull something like that again, Eh?” His voice was hard and Finn’s stomach twisted at the sight of his evident disappointment.
“I won’t. Unless you need me to. Then I’ll handle it.” He wanted Tommy to know that he would be a man like him. Someone he could depend on that would get things done the right way. He watched Tommy’s face twist up as he looked away out the window.
“Lizzy, could you give us a moment.” He said coldly. The woman rolled her pretty eyes and strode out of the room. Finn watched as her shiny housecoat floated behind her as if she was some kind of royalty.
“Look I know I can count on you, eh? I know that, I’ll always know that. You don’t ever need to go out and be stupid to prove anything. Okay? You're a Shelby.”
“But I want to be the kind of Shelby you're proud of '' He tried to sit up straight and sound confident. He watched as his brother sighed, and lit a cigarette. Looked at him leaning against the counter it became very evident that his brother would not be young forever. Things were going to be hard and heavy, as they had been for so long, and eventually it would take it’s toll.
Sun streamed in from the white lace curtains behind him, catching the smoke as it curled in the air. He caught Tommy’s eye and there was a silence between them. Somehow they both knew something, and became aware of things they didn't know at the same time.
“When the time comes I’ll be ready.” The words came out of Finn’s mouth at the same time they flew into his mind, as if they were spoken through him.
Tommy looked at him sharply before giving him a nod. They enjoyed the silence and sunlight for a few heartbeats before he cleared his throat.
“Don’t mention this to Pol Eh?”
“I promise.” Finn declared. “Who’s Lizzy? Is she your friend?” He looked out the door hoping to catch a glimpse of her again.
“Forget Lizzy. Trust me, just forget today happened.” Tommy straightened himself, put out his cigarette in the ashtray before giving him a solid pat on the shoulder.
He followed Tommy out of the small kitchen wishing they could have stayed longer. Tommy pointed for him to go wait by the door, he watched from the entry way as Tommy handed her a wad of cash. Who knew nurses got paid so much? Must be her day off so it cost extra. Guilt pooled in his stomach thinking about how badly he’d messed up.
Lizzy looked over and caught him staring trying to hear what they were saying. She took the money and walked over to him and ruffled his hair.
“You try to stay out of trouble” She said and his face flushed.
“I’ll try Miss, sorry to bother you on your day off.”
“No bother, forget it happened.” She brushed it off. “ Really though, look after yourself.” That same sad look came back and it broke his heart a little bit. He nodded, and she smiled again.
The rest of the day passed, and the boys let him sit in with them at the Garrison for a beer. They all told stories he had never heard before and many jokes, his ribs hurt more from laughing than the beating.
This was undoubtedly the best day ever, far better than anything the fair could have offered. Tommy kept a close eye on him, and Finn figured that meant that his time was coming soon. Tommy was always watching and considering, now he would be watching and considering him. When it would be his turn to have a go at the action.
_____
Tommy sat there in the hazy glow of the Garrison watching the boy drink his first beer. Trying to keep him out of the whiskey, out of trouble. The day was a complete disaster, but he realized that Finn saw much more out of their life here than he had thought. Tommy was going to have to keep a closer eye on him moving forward, try to keep him out of this chaos. Everything was going to be proper and legal before Finn’s time would come. He was supposed to be the first Shelby with clean hands. There was a nagging feeling in the back of his skull that said otherwise, one day everything would come down to Finn. Everything would rest on his decision.
Tommy prayed that it was wrong. That he would somehow get to stay this little kid and become a good man. Have the things Tommy never would.
You know when Lila comes back and Alya hints that they have been in contact by phone. What if Marinette says wow that must have cost a lot. Hope your or her parents didn't get mad. Alya a little worried about the high bill tells her parents whom assure her there bill was normal no international calls had been made.
Here you go! Hope you like it!
Marinette looked on as the class gathered around Lila who had just returned from her 'charity trip to Achu'. She was telling the whole class all about her trip, lying through her teeth as usual. Noticeably though, Alya wasn't with the rest of the group, clamoring for the stories. "Why aren't you over there with the rest of them Alya? Don't you want to get all her stories for your blog?" Alya looked at Marinette. "It's alright, I would rather be here with you! And besides-" Alya smiled at Marinette, "It isn't anything I haven't heard before."
"What do you mean Alya? Have you been calling with Lila while she was gone?" Alya was excited, to excited to keep the secret anymore. "Yeah! We talked every day and she kept me up to date on everything that she was doing! I already got all the details. She just made me promise to not post it until she got back and told everyone else. We probably spent at least an hour talking every day! It was great!" Marinette knew that Lila hadn't been out of the country and had likely been here in the city. But she thought this might be a good opportunity to reveal the liar. She hated that she would have to manipulate Alya, but if it would reveal Lila, and keep Alya from posting more of her lies, than it would be ok.
"Wow, that must have cost a lot of money. Were your parents not mad?" Alya looked at her, confused. "What do you mean?" Marinette looked at Alya with a serious look on her face. "I mean, international calls cost a lot of money. Talking for at least an hour each day, for months must have cost a fortune. My parents would be furious if I racked up those kinds of charges." Alya began to look scared. "They cost more money? Why? Its just a phone call?" Marinette was genuinely confused. Did Alya not know that these calls cost money? "The equipment and cables to connect those calls are more expensive to install and maintain so the calls cost more. Alya did you not tell your parents about these calls?" Alya looked green and stared down at her desk. "No." Marinette shook her head. "Well, if I were you I would tell them before the bill comes. You don't want them to get blindsided by the bill, that will make it worse." Before the two could continue the conversation, Mrs. Bustier walked in and class began.
Alya spent all day stressing. She couldn't stop thinking about what Marinette said. She must have cost her family so much money. She would be in so much trouble. She eventually decided that she would take Marinette's advice and come clean to her parents. She figured that maybe that would make her parents less angry if she came clean. She went home right after school and cleaned the entire apartment, thinking maybe that would help make them less angry. If the apartment was clean, and maybe they could take all the chore money should would have made from doing these chores and put it to the phone bill. Then she heard the door open and her parents come in. With dread in her stomach, she went into the living room.
"Mom, Dad, there is something I need to tell you." With that, Alya told them everything. About how she had been talking with Lila while she had been in Achu and how she didn't know about the international charges. "I am so sorry! I didn't know about the extra charges and I will do anything to make it up to you guys! I just had to tell you before the bill came, I didn't want you to get caught off guard. I am so sorry!" Alya waited for her parents to start yelling. She was waiting to be grounded for a very long time. But the yelling never came. When she looked up, she just saw her parents looking at her confused.
"Alya, what are you talking about? We already got the bill and it was completely normal. There were no international charges. Maybe you made some extra calls and went a little over, but nothing to be this panicked over." Alya was shocked. Could the calls be on the next bill? But that didn't make any sense, they should have been on this bill. "No, but I talked with Lila all the time. They should be on the bill." Alya's parents looked at each other before picking up a letter from the pile on the kitchen table. "Here Alya, look for yourself." She looked at the bill, and it wasn't too high. There weren't any international charges listed. But that didn't make any sense. If Lila had been in Achu, this bill should be through the roof. Then Marinette's claims of Lila being a liar floated through Alya's head. Did Lila lie?
Alya was glad that the bill hadn't been wrecked, but she was confused. She spent the rest of the night trying to figure it out. The only reasonable explanation she could come up with is that Lila had been lying and she wasn't in Achu. With the seed of doubt planted, Alya took to researching every claim Lila had made. Her thought process was that if she could prove just one of Lila's stories to be true, than maybe she could prove that she hadn't been tricked by the liar. But no matter how much she searched, she couldn't find any proof. The only source for any of Lila's stories was the Ladyblog.
By midnight, Alya gave up. It was clear that Lila was a liar this whole time. She sent a quick message in the old class group chat, from before Lila joined the class, so that Lila wouldn't see the message. She told the class everything she had found and how Lila had been lying this whole time. The class was outraged and decided that they couldn't be friends with Lila after all the lies she told, especially because the lies could have hurt them and their futures. And when Marinette chimed in about Lila's threats, the class was completely done with the liar.
The next day, Lila came in and instead of getting the warm welcome she was used to, she was treated to cold glares and silence. She tried to start a conversation, but Alya wasn't having it. "Just stop Lila. We know you are a liar. If you had been in Achu all this time, all those phone calls we had while you were gone would have made my phone bill sky rocket, but it was normal. You were never in Achu, I bet you never left the city! And that isn't your only lie, you have lied about everything. All the celebrities you know, all of your charities, and all of your injuries. Which I told the Mr. Damocles about, just so you know." As though summoned, Mr. Damocles appeared and demanded Lila and Mrs. Bustier come to the office to have a meeting with Mrs. Rossi.
The class never did get the full story of what exactly happened in the office. But they could hear the angry italian yelling coming from the office. Mrs. Rossi soon stomped out of the school, dragging Lila behind her. That was the last any of Mrs. Bustier's class saw of the liar. To think, the liar's kingdom came to the end, all because of a simple phone bill.
Fighting My Own Battles, and Mineta
Summary: As much as being Bakugou's girlfriend is hard sometimes, dealing with a grape rat is worse.
Or: Mineta makes the mistake of groping you in front of the class.
TW: Sexual harassment, Mineta, unwanted/nonconsensual groping, violence against the grape rat, but it's deserved. Oh, and swearing.
A/N: I've been seeing a lot of headcanons and scenarios of the boys protecting you, but I haven't seen many of the reader protecting themselves, so I wrote one!
Dating Bakugou Katsuki was not been easy. He had enough emotional constipation for thirteen people, and had a hard time expressing emotions that weren't anger, pride, annoyance, or boastful confidence. Sometimes he managed indifference well, but most of the time he ignored people that he didn't think were worthy of his attention.
At this point, you had no idea how you had managed to climb to the rank of his girlfriend. He barely considered the Bakusquad acquaintances and they were the closest people to him other than Midoriya.
It had taken a while, but you had slowly managed to decode the things he did for you, the way he talked to you.
Dating Bakugou was not easy.
But with Bakugou you were in a mutually fulfilling relationship. Whenever you had a bad day, Bakugou always managed to find a way to make it a little better, if not turn it around completely and you did the same thing for him.
You got nothing out of dealing with Mineta. He only made your bad days worse, and you were one sexual comment or action away from breaking his neck.
Today had been your breaking point.
"Katsuki, seriously, I can handle myself," you told the blond, letting him settle his chin on the top of your head as you listened to his heartbeat.
His arms were around your waist, and yours were around his in a corner of the training grounds.
You had been paired up with Mineta for one-on-one battles for the first twenty minutes of class and neither you nor Katsuki were happy about it.
Katsuki was doing what he did best, complaining about things he didn't approve of.
"I know you can, babe, but that doesn't mean that he's gonna keep his hands to himself."
"I'll handle it if he doesn't," you promised, running your hands across Katsuki's back softly. "Katsuki, I'm gonna be fine."
Katsuki nodded into your hair, pressing a couple quick kisses there before he had to move away from you.
"Katsuki," you called.
He turned, eyes darting over your face.
"I got this," you told him.
"I know you do babe, otherwise you wouldn't be my girl."
You smiled at him and he grinned back.
Your grin faded when Mineta appeared beside you, giving you a look that made you want to peel his face off.
"I can't wait to see what kind of positions I can get you into," he cooed, and you gagged, turning your head away.
"Let's get this over with Mineta," you said, heading for the area that Cementoss had set up for the students.
Things were okay for the first ten minutes or so, but you could tell that Mineta was paying more attention to your body than he was to the fights.
"Mineta, my eyes are up here you slimy bastard," you said, trying to draw his eyes away from your chest.
"Mineta, since you don't seem to be paying much attention to your fight, how about you and (Y/L/N) let the rest of the class watch your fight to get you more in the mindset of battle," Aizawa suggested.
The other fights halted when the teacher spoke up, and you could hear Katsuki's growl from across the room.
Mineta, not one to argue with Aizawa, paled, but nodded.
You headed for your own end of the training pad, getting into position.
Mineta was practically trembling on his end, but you could hear your classmates cheering for you, your boyfriend's voice noticeably absent.
He knew that you didn't need him cheering for you to you to know that he was on your side.
When the battle started, it didn't take long for you to have Mineta pinned, writhing underneath you, trying to escape.
But he managed to get one of his hands free and he groped at your chest, making you snarl.
You stood, picking Mineta up by the front of his suit and his throat, leaning closely to his ear as you walked him back against a wall.
"If you ever touch me, or another girl like that ever again, I will make what happened at Mt. Lady's look like heaven on earth, do you understand me Mineta?" you asked slowly, tightening your grip on his throat. "And then, when I'm done with you, I'll hand you over to Katsuki and the others."
Mineta was practically hyperventilating as he caught sight of you boyfriend, Mineta's face turning almost as purple as his hair.
Kirishima, Sero, Todoroki, and Midoriya were all trying to hold Katsuki back from getting to you and Mineta. Despite the others trying to restrain him, he was making good progress.
Your boyfriend might've had a bad temper, but you had never seen him this pissed off.
For a moment, you were actually concerned that he was going to kill the grape rat, not that you had any issues with that. It would look bad on his record though, and he would probably get thrown out of U.A. if he did that, so your next objective was to calm him down.
You pushed, hard, one more time on Mineta's throat before you dropped him, letting him cough and suck in breath on the floor.
You walked over to Katsuki, who had his eyes glued to Mineta.
"Let him go," you told the boys, who took one glance at you and let Katsuki go.
Katsuki's palms started to crackle but you wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Katsuki," you murmured, "Katsuki, let the others deal with him."
"I am not letting him get away with touching you like that," Katsuki snarled, so lowly that the others all took three big steps away from him.
"I know, but I handled it, the others are just cleaning the mess up," you replied. "Can . . . can you just hold me?"
You could feel the perv's hands on you still, and you hated that feeling.
Katsuki heard the tone of your voice, he heard the undertones too, and he wrapped his arms around you, picking you up bridal style before he sat on the floor, cradling you in his lap.
Aizawa looked at you and Katsuki before turning towards the rest of the class, who was gathered around Mineta.
"I love you," Katsuki murmured into your hair. "I love you."
"I know," you replied, "I know."
"I should be murdering him right now," he muttered.
"You can have him when the others have had their fun with him," you told him.
"I will never do that you," Katsuki promised.
"I know you won't," you replied, "because you're a hero. My hero."
"No, you're your own hero, but I'm a close second," he said, tightening his grip on you.
"'Course you are baby," you murmured, laying your head on Katsuki's chest so that you could hear his heartbeat.
To say that Mineta had to be sent to Recovery Girl was an understatement. But when he hobbled back to class, nothing was healed.
Apparently she didn't appreciate him harassing the girls either.
Aizawa sent him back to his dorm room, and told him that he would have to catch up when he was well enough to come back to classes.
He had already apologized to you and the other girls and said that Mineta was finishing out the year and then he was being replaced by Shinso.
"Anyone is better than that perv," you said later that night. "And when I talked him, he seemed like a nice guy. He'll definitely be a better hero than Mineta."
The girls all agreed with you.
"I'll be glad that he's gone so we stop having to tape him up all the time," Sero added from across the room where he was studying with Kaminari.
Everyone was in agreement on that fact, there was no doubt about it.
"I'm going to bed," Katsuki grumbled, walking over to kiss you on the cheek before he trudged up to his room.
"Sweet dreams baby!" you called, and he grunted back, making you smile softly.
"I know that Bakugou gets mad a lot, but I've never seen him as furious as he was today," Momo said, making the others nod.
"Yeah, I seriously thought that we were going to have to get him a muzzle again," Uraraka added.
"It took four of the boys to slow him down, but you managed to calm him down with just a few words, you really were made for him weren't you (Y/L/N)-chan, ribbit?" Tsuyu asked and you laughed.
"Katsuki knows that I can handle myself, but he also knows when I just need him to be there for me. There are some battles where I let him take over, but today I just needed him to be there with me, and he knew that. Trust me, I know when to pick my battles, even I can't calm him down all the time, but there are a few instances where I can get him to calm down more than the others can just because I know him better than some of the others."
"He's a good boyfriend then?" Momo asked, always one for romantic gossip.
"He is to me," you admitted. "But I also don't know how I managed that."
The girls laughed, and you couldn't help but join in with them.
This was what washed away the feeling of Mineta's hands, this was what helped remind you that not everyone was like that.
Katsuki helped too, just like he always did, but sometimes it was nice to have other women to relate to as well.
The boys did what they could to keep the grape rat under control, and the girls watched out for each other. Your boyfriend watched out for you, and you for him. It was like one big family, and you had a feeling that Shinso was going to be a wonderful addition to the Class 1-A family.
Hi!! If this doesn't catch your eye, then feel free to delete this.
Could I please request a Bridgerton imagine where Eloise meets Reader and realises that R would be perfect for one of her brothers (you can decide which one)? Eloise then tries to matchmake them or even just introduce them to each other??
so, this is love
Tumblr media
“No.”
“Oh, come on, Y/N/N.”
“Nope.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“Pretty please?”
“Eloise, you can give me the sad eyes all you want, my answer is not going to change.”
“But if you just -”
“Eloise, I will burn you with this cigarette in a minute - stop it.”
Eloise slumped back against the tree and gave Y/N a glower that would rival Anthony. Y/N - who’d been friends with the Bridgerton’s for almost four years - ignored the glowering glare her friend was giving her and puffed on her cigarette.
“Are you coming to the ball tomorrow?” Eloise asked, dropping her glower. She reached over and snatched the cigarette out of Y/N’s hand.
“Yes, of course,” Y/N replied, frowning. “You know I am - no.”
“One dance.”
“No.”
“Just one.”
“No.”
Eloise practically growled. “Oh, come on, Y/N! You love Colin!”
“Yes, as a friend, El,” Y/N replied, scoffing. “Don’t you dare try and set me up with your brother.”
Eloise sighed but held her hands up in surrender. “Alright, I won’t. But you’ll still come tomorrow?”
“I don’t really have much choice,” Y/N muttered. “I promised your mother and Anthony.”
Eloise smirked. “She’s terrifying, isn’t she?”
“Put together with Anthony, I felt as if I was going to be executed if I didn’t say yes!” Y/N exclaimed, throwing her hands up. “He glowered at me, El. Glowered.”
“Ah, yes, Anthony Bridgerton’s infamous glower,” Eloise said, nodding. She handed the cigarette back to Y/N. “Now you have to come.”
Y/N let out a sarcastic laugh as she took the cigarette. “Very funny, El.”
“What’s funny?”
Y/N jumped and almost fell off the swing she was sitting on. “Jesus Christ, Benedict!” She exclaimed, putting a hand on her chest.
“Sorry,” Benedict said, struggling not to smile. He sat down on the swing next to her and held his hand out for the cigarette.
“Oh, we’re all just sharing now, are we?” Y/N muttered, handing the cigarette to him.
“We were just talking about how Mother and Anthony managed to make Y/N agree to attend the ball tomorrow night,” Eloise said, picking at the grass around her.
“He glowered, she smiled,” Y/N muttered, shuddering either from the sudden gust of wind or the memory of being cornered in Anthony’s office.
Benedict laughed and choked on the smoke he accidentally inhaled. “Once they corner you, there's no escape, believe me, I know!”
Y/N groaned, slouching as much as she could in the swing. “I don’t want to go, though - no offence.”
“None taken,” Eloise called, shaking her head. “I don’t want to go either.”
Y/N groaned again and leant back on the swing, tilting her head back until her hair was touching the grass. She pushed herself back and forth with her feet as she contemplated her impending doom, half listening to the conversation Benedict and Eloise were having.
She’d never been one for balls - she was a introvert like Eloise - and preferred hiding in her house (or Bridgerton house which was quickly becoming a second home to her) reading a book.
When she’d first entered society she’d been a wallflower. Y/N and Eloise had met at a ball and had bonded over the fact neither one wanted to be there. A few balls later and Y/N found herself dancing with Colin Bridgerton.
It hadn’t taken much before she fell down a rabbit hole titled Big Crush on Colin Bridgerton.
Not that she would ever admit it to anyone. Unfortunately, Eloise had found out and - after much badgering and nagging - Y/N had reluctantly admitted that she was right and ever since then, Eloise had been determined to set her up with her brother.
Y/N had been avoiding Colin ever since Eloise had found out, not that she thought he’d noticed.
Y/N tilted back a bit further and yelped as she lost her balance and fell onto the grass. “Oh, right, that’s it, I’m not going,” she moaned, staring up at the tree and glowering at the inconvenience that had just occurred to her.
Benedict snorted as he stood up and held out a hand to her. “Oh, stop complaining, Y/N/N, you’ll be fine. I’ll keep an eye on you.”
Y/N begrudgingly took Benedict’s hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet and pull a twig out her hair. “Yes, and then the entire ton can glare at me because I’m friends with the most eligible bachelors in London.”
Benedict smacked her on the back of the head and Y/N slapped his arm in retaliation.
“Children,” Eloise called - sounding scarily like Violet. “Y/N, you are coming whether you like it or not. In fact, I’m going to make Benedict come and get you at noon tomorrow so you can get ready here.”
“And so I don’t run away?” Y/N added, raising an eyebrow at Eloise.
“That too.”
Y/N muttered something that sounded suspiciously like she was cursing the entire Bridgerton name, but she nodded. “Fine. Benedict can come and get me.”
“I’m so glad I’m appreciated by you,” Benedict said sarcastically, putting an arm around her shoulders. “It’s such a refreshing change.”
Tumblr media
She wasn’t hiding.
There just happened to be a significantly large potted plant in front of the chair she was sitting in.
Y/N had to admit that she did look beautiful. The midnight blue dress sparkled in the dozens of candles dotted around the room and her hair had been pinned up with jewelled violet hair pins that Violet had leant her for the night.
That didn’t, however, change the fact that she didn’t want to be there and was trying her hardest to avoid Colin.
Eloise, however, had had the opposite idea and had been glued to Colin’s side the entire night, trying to find Y/N and make her dance with her brother.
“Is my Mother’s orange tree plant providing subtle enough cover, Y/N/N, or would you like a cheese plant as well?”
Y/N stuck her tongue out at Anthony. “I know you’re joking but I wouldn’t mind if it happened to appear next to the orange tree.”
Anthony chuckled and sat down next to her, offering her one of the glasses of lemonade he’d been holding. “You can’t hide behind a plant all evening.”
“I’m doing a pretty good job of it so far,” she retorted, sipping on the drink. “It is a very nice plant.”
“Why are you hiding?” Anthony asked, leaning back in his chair.
“Your sister is trying to set me up with Colin,” Y/N muttered, glowering at the plant as if it was Eloise’s face.
“Who? El?” “Yes, Eloise,” Y/N snapped. “Once that woman gets an idea she physically cannot let it go until she’s finished with it.”
Anthony laughed. “You’re hiding from Eloise?”
“She’s terrifying when she’s on a mission, Anthony,” Y/N replied, turning in her chair to look at her friend. “You’ve seen her with the whole Whistledown fiasco.”
“I was wondering why she’s been glued to Colin’s side or night,” Anthony mused.
Y/N groaned, dramatically throwing her head back against the wall. “I’m doomed, Anthony. Doomed.”
“Let it never be said you’re not dramatic,” Anthony muttered, sipping his drink. “Want to dance?”
“If I dance she might see me. I should hide behind foliage when possible.”
“She’s not a predator, Y/N. Besides, you promised me a dance,” Anthony said, standing up and holding his hand out.
“No,” Y/N grumbled, taking his hand and letting him drag her onto the floor, “she’s an apex predator.”
Anthony rolled his eyes. “Yes, alright, she’s an apex predator. Now, I know you don’t like my family tonight but please try to avoid stepping on my toes, these shoes have just been polished.”
Y/N resisted the childish urge to stamp on Anthony’s foot, just to prove a point.
The dance was a slightly energetic one - a far cry from a waltz, thankfully - and Y/N found that she was actually enjoying herself. Anthony spun her around the room and lifted her up into the air, watching her giggle with excitement with a triumphant smile.
The song slowly came to an end and they bowed to each other. Y/N giggled again and hugged Anthony.
“I enjoyed that, thank you,” Y/N said, almost beaming. “Oh, fuck.”
Anthony, forgetting that Y/N had spent too much time around them and probably knew more swear words than he did, gaped at her. “What?”
Y/N nodded behind him with fear in her eyes. “I’ve been snared.”
“Y/N! There you are!” Eloise called, barging through the crowd and dragging Colin behind her. Colin followed his sister with an amused smile. “I’ve been looking for you.”
“And I’ve been dancing with Anthony,” Y/N replied, trying to avoid looking at Colin.
Eloise’s eyes narrowed at her for a second. “Colin has a question to ask you,” she said, pushing her brother forward.
Colin stepped forward and Y/N was forced to look at him. She titled her head up - no matter what height she seemed to be, he always seemed to be taller - and met his gaze. She struggled to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as he made eye contact with her and smiled.
“I was wondering if you would like to waltz with me?” Colin asked, gesturing to the band who were preparing for the next dance.
“Waltz?” Y/N asked, staring at him.
“You don’t need anyone’s permission, do you?” Colin asked, frowning. “I just assumed with you being an only child -”
“She has my permission to waltz, brother,” Anthony said, stepping forward and standing next to Y/N. “I am her chaperone after all.”
Y/N gave Anthony a glare of betrayal. “Yes, of course,” she said, turning back to Colin. “I’d be happy to dance with you.”
“Excellent,” Colin said, taking Y/N’s hand.
As he led her to the dance floor, Y/N glared at Anthony and Eloise, who she now realised had teamed up together. They both looked far too pleased with themselves and when they began to follow them onto the dance floor she realised she had no way out.
“Are you alright?” Colin asked, eyeing her with concern as Y/N sighed heavily. “I’ve hardly seen you all evening.”
“I’ve been outside,” Y/N lied, nodding to convince herself. “Away from... people.”
Colin chuckled, nodding with an air of understanding. “Yes, I understand.”
Colin moved his hand on to her waist and Y/N tried not to make the sharp intake of breath she took obvious. His hand rested on her waist and the small of her back, just below where the back of her dress ended and exposed her skin. His other hand grabbed hers and, despite the white, silk gloves she was wearing, she could feel the heat of his hands.
“Y/N?” Colin asked softly.
Y/N’s eyes snapped to his and she was engulfed by the pure delight, love and enjoyment in them. The crinkled slightly as he smiled at her.
“Yeah?”
“We have an audience,” Colin said, nodding to his left.
Y/N followed his gaze and tried not to groan aloud when she noticed the entire Bridgerton family - minus Eloise and Anthony who’d annoyingly joined them on the dance floor - watching them.
“Oh, for -” Y/N cut herself off and sighed. “No, it’s fine,” she said, looking back at Colin.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
The orchestra finished tuning and the first notes of the waltz began.
“Yes,” Y/N said, smiling a pure smile of joy for the first time that night. “It’s perfect.”
They began dancing around the room to the gentle melody of the waltz.
“Have you been avoiding me?” Colin asked suddenly.
Y/N blinked in surprise as he spun her. “You noticed?”
She mentally cursed herself because that was not what she meant to say.
“Of course I noticed, Y/N,” Colin said, frowning. “I go to talk to you and you’re not there. You’ve disappeared off with Hyacinth or Benedict.”
Y/N sighed, realising she wasn’t going to get away with lying. “Ok, fine. I have been avoiding you, Colin.”
Y/N cursed in her head as Colin spun her away to Anthony (she was beginning to suspect the two Bridgerton siblings had purposefully joined them in the dance to make it even harder to talk to him).
“Bad time,” she growled to Anthony.
“Eloise forced me too,” Anthony replied, unfazed by the anger that was directed at him.
“Can I ask you a question?” Y/N asked, looking up at him.
“Of course, Y/N/N.” “Am I... suitable for Colin?” She asked, finally voicing her main concern and the reason she’d been avoiding him. “I know I'm not a perfect lady - and I have hardly any dowry and that my family is all but non-existent -”
“Y/N,” Anthony said softly, cutting her off. “You are more than enough for my brother. I don’t care about anything except the fact that you love him.”
Y/N opened her mouth to protest but Anthony cut her off before she could.
“I’ve seen the way you two look at each other, Y/N,” he said gently, twirling her. “You are practically a Bridgerton already, why not make it official?”
Y/N’s eyes widened but before she could question him, she was spun back to Colin.
“So, we were talking about you avoiding me,” Colin said, a cheeky grin on his face.
Y/N let out a stuttered breath as Colin moved his hand up slightly, his fingers brushing over her bare back.
“Colin... I...”
“I know,” Colin said gently, looking her in the eye.
Y/N faltered. “You know... what?”
“Why you’ve been avoiding me,” Colin elaborated.
“Oh?” “Eloise told me.”
“Oh.”
Colin laughed. “You’re change of tone is so telling - you are rubbish at hiding your emotions.”
“Yeah, well I’m obviously not that bad,” Y/N muttered. “What did Eloise say, exactly?”
“That you like me and she’s been trying to set us up for the past few weeks,” Colin replied, twirling her around a few times. “Is that why you’ve been avoiding me?”
Y/N shrugged slightly. “You’re a Bridgerton, Colin. You could have any woman in this room - the majority of whom are far more suitable than me, an orphan with hardly any dowry and a grandmother who doesn’t care -”
“But I want you, Y/N,” Colin said, moving his hand from her back to tilt her chin up.
Y/N allowed him to lift her head up and gazed into his eyes. “You... want me?”
“I did just say that, didn’t I?” Colin quipped, his eyes twinkling.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Haha, very funny.” She paused. “But... you do want... me?”
“Of course I do!” Colin said, surprised that she was even doubting his affections. “Y/N, I’ve wanted you from the moment you walked into me and nearly fell down the stairs.”
Y/N let out a snort that she quickly disguised with a cough. “Thank you for saving me, by the way,” she replied, smiling. “That would have been interesting.”
“Especially since you almost took Benedict out with you,” Colin added.
Y/N laughed, throwing her head back. “Oh, god, don’t remind me!”
Colin moved his hands to her waist and lifted her into the air as the music reached its climax. He slowly lowered her back down, his hands staying on her waist, and Y/N felt the sudden urge to take him there and then.
“I love you, Y/N Y/L/N,” Colin said softly, his voice almost a whisper in her ear. “I love everything about you. I love your clumsiness, your eye for art, the way you sing... I love you.”
Y/N looked up at him. “I love you too, Colin.”
Colin smiled and stepped closer to her, his hands tightening on her waist.
Someone bumped into Y/N and she fell forward into Colin - the man catching her and holding her up against him.
“Stupid heels,” Eloise cursed, wobbling and grabbing Anthony’s arm to steady herself. “Oh, hi! How was your dance?”
Y/N bit her lip and looked at Colin, struggling not to laugh. “Someday, Eloise,” she said, turning to look at her friend, “I’m going to be hanged for murdering you.”
Eloise took Y/N’s arm. “If you get caught I’ll be disappointed.”
“Who said I’d be caught?” Y/N questioned. “I just assumed your brothers would hang me themselves.”
The two women laughed as they walked off to the drinks table, chatting vividly about a subject women probably shouldn’t be talking about.
“I love her, brother,” Colin said, turning to look at Anthony.
Anthony chuckled and smiled, patting him on the back. “Yes, I noticed, Colin,”
Anniversary Request Special
Description: You’d always had a special place in your heart for Lee Minho even though he gives you countless reasons to hate him. How long will your patience last?
Warning: alcohol, sexual assault
Word Count: 2.5k
Pairing: fem!reader x Minho
Tumblr media
“Y/N—”
“Go away, Minho.”
“Y/N, look at me.”
“I said no!”
“Well I said I’m sorry.”
You snap around to face him. “Sorry isn’t going to cut it, Lee Minho. You screwed up. You. Screwed. Up. I gave you one request, and you couldn’t even do that.”
“I had my reasons!” he protests.
“Yeah? Well let’s hear them.”
He emits a few noises but can't come up with anything. His face flushes red, but not as red as yours.
“There’s no excuse for breaking someone’s heart ever. Remember that.” You turn on your heels and begin walking away until he says something even more repulsive.
“Why do you care so much? She’s not even your real sister!” he calls after you.
You pause, unable to comprehend how such words could ever enter your ears. You then slowly walk back to him as he stiffens with every step you take.
“Not my real sister?” Your voice is soft, but it is effective.
“I mean—”
“You’re saying the girls at Epsilon Phi aren’t sisters?” Your voice begins to rise. “We’re more sisters than you and I were ever friends, Lee Minho! We love each other more than biological families do, but of course you wouldn’t know how that feels, would you? All you have in your chest is a cold, hard piece of coal!”
You turn away and break off into a run this time. Tears stream down your face from being insulted and betrayed by someone you held with high esteem.
You like Lee Minho. Of course, you’d never admit that. To the world, he is just some kid of your mom’s friend who annoyed you to no end, but through the arguments and time spent trying to prove each other wrong, your feelings grew bit by bit. When he had a relationship with your very own Little, you held in your feelings and wished them both the best. After all, you love both of them, and their happiness together was good enough for you.
That is, until Minho broke things off as nothing but a fling.
Minho has always been a huge flirt, but he’d promised to take her seriously this time. You made him swear it, and you emphasized how much your Little meant to you. Now, because you’re his family friend, your Little won’t even speak to you. Minho had ruined your and her relationship, and evidently yours and his too.
He didn’t used to be like this, all manipulative and amorous. You remember he used to follow you at the heel, caring about nothing more than sticking gum in your hair. It wasn’t until senior year of high school did he start hanging out with random girls and trying daredevilish things. You missed the old Minho, but you thought you’d accept him for all his changes since you did, after all, like him.
Until this moment, that is.
What he did was too much. What he said was too much. You know he is becoming toxic, and if he is going to continue down this path, even your love isn’t going to bring him back to your heart.
Minho watches your waning back then slams his fist against a nearby tree with a curse. You didn’t give him enough time to explain, not that he would have been able to in front of you.
You’d forgive him though, right? You have to. When he messed up before this, Minho could be sure you would. But now, he isn’t so certain. He has never seen you so angry and disappointed before, and he did that to you. Him. Minho lets out another string of curses and trudges back to his room.
Tumblr media
He tries making it up to you the very next morning. He shows up to your 8 AM class with a cup of coffee and slides it onto your desk before sitting down himself.
You don’t even look at him. You just take the cup and slam it down in front of him, causing its contents to spill and burn your fingers. He quickly takes your hand in his and begins wiping it with his sleeve, but you recoil your arm and take out your own napkin.
The next place he tries is at your neighboring frat party. He knows you would be there, so he wears his tightest black jeans and a loose button-up. This trick has worked with other girls, so he hopes it would on you.
He takes the dance floor with his powerful dance moves and charisma. He can see you deliberately turned away from him and chatting with someone else, so he dances towards you. The cheering circle that has formed around him moves as well, engulfing you into the crowd.
You finally turn to make sure you don’t bump into anyone. Minho takes this chance to shoot you a wink which draws the crowd’s attention to you. They cheer and push you towards him despite your protests.
Minho takes your arm and leads you in the dance. You used to like dancing with him; your and his flow matches perfectly, and the two of you could revive a dying party just by dancing together. Today though, you just aren’t having it.
Minho puts a hand on your shoulder and scoops his hips low earning a cheer from the crowd. You can hear them calling your name, anticipating your response. You look down at Minho and immediately recognize his choice of clothing.
I wonder who’s going to have her heart broken tomorrow, you think with a dry laugh. Minho flinches, recognizing that sound. You take his falter as a chance to fling his arm off of you before walking away.
A chorus of oohs fills the room, and the crowd splits like the Red Sea for you.
You hear your name from his lips again. “Y/N!” It is more strained now than it was last night. Desperate. Defeated.
Tumblr media
You gave him some thought after hearing the sincerity in his tone, but you are glad you did not turn around that night when you see him in class with some other girl on his lap. Whatever. He’s dead to you now, so why should you care what he’s doing?
Minho watches as you walk farther and farther from him. He pushes the girl off and continues to stare with narrowed eyes at you as you greet your new seat neighbors.
This isn’t how he predicted you would react. Truthfully, he kind of knew this attempt wouldn’t work. For one, it hadn’t worked once since he first tried it in high school. He thought hanging out with other girls would make him more attractive, more desirable by competition. At least, that’s what some then-college kids told him. Once he started, he just found himself unable to stop. It was a self-feeding cycle, really. Holding onto other girls and charming them numbs the void in his chest, but you ignore him whenever he acts like this which only further widens the gap.
What is he to do though? This is the only life he knows, and so, it is the life he leads. Not all love stories can end happily.
And his sure doesn’t seem like it is going to.
Tumblr media
Sirens wail in the background. With the amount of girls he’s fooled around with, he kind of had it coming. Minho stares at his wrists, not daring to think, but one thought keeps recurring in his mind: you. He is going to disappoint you yet again. You already hate him, and now you are going to see him handcuffed too.
The cold wind makes him shiver when you, his emergency contact, open the door and step into the station. Your eyes immediately find him, and you make your way over.
“Y/—”
“Are you hurt?” you ask plainly.
Despite your icy tone, those three simple words fill him with a warmth he hasn’t known for a long time.
“I’m okay.” His hands reach forward, wanting to grab yours and keep you with him, but you’ve already walked away to announce your arrival to an officer.
“Miss L/Y Y/N?” a young official greets a little too enthusiastically. She looks familiar, you note.
“Yes, I am she.”
The officer looks pleased by your annoyed attitude towards the defendant. “Mister Lee is here tonight because of an accusation by Miss Choi of assault,” she informs you coyly.
You look at him. “Minho,” you said with a chilled voice. “Is it true?”
“No! Y/N, I wouldn’t—”
“It’s okay. I believe you.”
“Excuse me?” the officer sputters.
“I believe him,” you repeat. “He’s been going out with more people than I have fingers, but he never laid a finger on them.”
“But Y/N, that doesn’t mean he can’t start now,” the officer protests. “You’re his contact, but you hate him now. Surely, he’s changed”
“First of all, it’s Miss L/N to you, Officer” —you read her name tag and pieces begin to fall together from her eagerness to convict Minho to the inkling you felt the moment you saw her— “Yoo. And secondly, is it not against the law for you to be working on a case where your cousin’s the accuser?”
“How did you—!”
“Nothing escapes us Epsilon Phi sisters, even news from other sororities. Besides, Minho never plays with the same girl twice. As expected, this report is filed for an incident two months ago. You, Officer Yoo, knew I was his contact and waited for us to get into yet another fight before having your cousin put in the accusation, didn’t you?”
She scoffs in your face. “That’s a bold accusation from yourself towards law enforcement.”
“Where is the accuser right now? Shouldn’t she be here for interrogation as well?”
“Well she—” the officer looks increasingly flustered. “She needs rest after having to relive the memories of what happened. We’ll call her in tomorrow. Anyway, Mr. Lee Minho, I can hear your testimony now in room #3.”
Minho stands obediently.
“Wait. I request someone else interrogate him,” you object.
“We’re busy right now,” Officer Yoo huffs. “We can’t just let you choose who does the job.”
You cross your arms. “Sure. Interrogate him and have the entire case be nulled after I file a conflict of interest.”
Officer Yoo grits her teeth but returns to her station to call for another officer.
In the meantime, you turn to Minho. “Don’t answer anything you don’t want to, especially if they start leading you on with questions. It’s in your rights to remain silent, alright?”
Minho nods numbly at your words, still confused as to why you are so nice to him. Before he can figure it out though, an older man appears from the back and takes him to an interrogation room.
“Mr. Lee Minho?”
“Yes.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Chief Jeon. I’m just going to ask you a few questions today; is that alright?”
“Yes.”
The chief nods and pulls out some papers. “Would you mind describing what happened with Miss Choi?”
“Well I was with—” he gestures towards the papers with his accuser’s name on it— “and we were hitting it off. She bought me a couple of drinks and at some point leaned in to kiss me. I realized something at that point, and I stopped her. She got angry, saying how she spent all that cash on alcohol for me, and threatened to accuse me of assault if I didn’t do what she said, but I knew I couldn’t do it.”
“Because of what you realized?” the chief repeats.
“... Yes.”
“And what was it you realized?”
“Do I have to say it?”
“According to the law, no, but if it can help you with your case, you might want to.”
Minho fidgets with his cuffs. “They can’t hear me from outside, right?”
“No. They most certainly cannot.”
And so, Minho tells him.
Tumblr media
Minho turns around while the metal bars clang shut behind him. The chief thinks he has a pretty good chance, but due to the gravity of the accusation, they still decided to keep Minho in holding to give the accuser more time to make her case.
You stare at him from the other side, arms crossed. Minho takes the fact that you’re still here at two in the morning as a good sign for him.
“Thanks for being here,” he tries to start a conversation.
“I didn’t really have a choice.” So cold.
“I’ll change my emergency contact.”
“Please do.”
He winces. “Look… Y/N, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for insulting your sisterhood and for hurting your Little. You’ll forgive me, won’t you?”
He looks at you with those doe-like eyes of his. For once, you don’t feel anything while looking back at them.
“That’s not why I’m mad anymore. In fact, I’m not even mad,” you tell him. “My Little told me what really happened. She told me that she was actually the one who dumped you after you adamantly refused to kiss her. I asked some other girls you’ve seen and they all said the same thing. That’s why I was so confident with the officer earlier. I guess I owe you an apology for getting angry when you weren’t at fault.”
“Then”—he holds out a hand sheepishly— “truce?”
You look at it but keep your arms crossed. “Taking a step back from you has made me see things I wasn’t able to before, Minho, and that’s made me realize how much you’ve changed. You were my friend, my rival— someone who never failed to get on my nerves but also someone I couldn’t go without. But now” —you drop your arms and shake your head— “I can’t even recognize you anymore.”
You take a step back to leave. You’ve done this many times before, like when he stuck a plastic spider down your shirt or when he called you stupid in front of your crush in fifth grade, but something about this time feels different. Something about this time tells him you aren’t turning back around once you left.
A sudden despair grips Minho and he runs into the bars. “Wait!”
You pause, offering him one last second.
“Your Little,” he gasps, “did she tell you why I wouldn’t kiss her?”
You nod. “The others I asked did too. They said you were thinking about some other girl while you were with them.”
“Not ‘some other’ girl. One other girl.”
“I know.” You begin to walk again.
“Then why are you leaving?” He reaches a hand out, trying to grab any part of you. “Stay with me. Please, Y/N, stay.”
You don’t pause a second time. Out of desperation, he cries out, “Y/N, I love you!”
That makes you stop midstep. He holds his breath as you put one foot back then the other next to it to face him. You are so beautiful when you look at him. He melts under your gaze as you focus on him and only him. He’ll cherish you this time when you give him another chance. He’ll quit this playboy lifestyle. He won’t take advantage of your patience anymore. He’ll give you all that his heart has to offer. He’ll make sure you’re the only one in his eyes. He’ll love you. He loves you.
“Minho.” You relax your shoulders and straighten your back. You tilt your head just slightly forward and erase the edge off your tone. “I loved you.”
Nesta looked around their home.
It was decorated to perfection - at least, that had been Nesta’s goal. The theme for Nyx’s second birthday was space cowboy, which had happened when Cassian wanted a cowboy theme while Nesta wanted an outer space theme.
It had been a challenge to perfect the space cowboy theme - especially when it came to a two-year-old’s birthday party.
There were aliens with cowboy hats and paper cows on UFO balloons. In the corner of the living room, there was a horse wearing an astronaut costume - a decoration that Cassian had created, and one he was quite proud of.
Nesta herself wore a “space-like” outfit that reminded her fondly of Zenon: Girl of the 21th Century. When Cassian came down the stairs, however, it looked like he had just walked out of the Wild West.
He wore chaps over his jeans, and Nesta found her mind wandering on those chaps alone.
She hoped he kept them.
They would be useful in the future.
He also wore a plaid button down and a cowboy hat.
She thought he should keep the cowboy hat, too.
Nyx, however, looked like the cutest little mess Nesta had ever seen. His onesie looked like a spacesuit, but on his head, instead of an astronaut helmet, he wore a teeny little cowboy hat. On his feet were genuine cowboy boots.
Nesta laughed as they reached the first floor landing, and Cassian’s grin widened.
“Now introducing our two-year-old space cowboy,” Cassian said, unable to control his laughter.
Nyx’s grin was wide as he clapped. “MAMA!”
Nesta laughed, taking Nyx into her arms. Yeah, he looked ridiculous, but he also looked oh so cute. “Happy birthday, sweet boy.”
Nyx took Nesta’s face in his hands and gave her a big, sloppy kiss.
With a chuckle, Nesta said, “Thank you, that was very sweet. Now, let’s go make sure everything’s ready, yeah? Our guests will be here soon.”
“Dada,” Nyx said, pointing to Cassian. “Hi-hi.”
Cassian laughed. “Hi, bud.” He went straight for the corner and adjusted his astronaut-horse.
Nesta just shook her head and brought Nyx into the kitchen.
It smelled delicious.
Nesta had spent the entire morning cooking.
At first, she had no idea what to make for a space cowboy party, but she really felt like she nailed it. She had a taco bar, which worked for every type of party, and baked and decorated a cake that looked like Cassian’s horse in a spacesuit.
It was ridiculous.
And absolutely perfect.
Nesta looked at the clock. “We have twenty minutes, Nyx. We have to make the homemade tortillas and get out the salsas.”
“What about the alcohol?” Cassian asked, sweeping into the kitchen.
Nesta rolled her eyes. “It’s our two-year-old’s birthday.”
Cassian blinked. “So, no whiskey, just wine?”
Nesta clicked her tongue. “Check the wine cabinet.”
“Yes ma’am,” Cassian winked, tipping his hat before he left the room.
Nesta snorted, even though she found it deeply charming and handsome as hell.
Yeah, she definitely hoped he’d keep that outfit.
Nesta took the dough out of the fridge that she had rolled earlier that morning and a rolling pin. When she had countless flat, doughy circles she dropped them in the oil-filled skillet one by one. Fifteen minutes later, she had a giant stack of flour tortillas and was carrying them, alongside a tray filled with different types of homemade salsas, to the table she had set up in the living room.
There was a quick knock on the door and it cracked open before Nesta could even turn towards the door.
“Oh, my.”
She laughed at Azriel’s reaction to the house, turning to see him carrying in a stack of presents, Elain’s camera bag and Persephone’s diaper bag. “Go big or go home, right?” She chuckled.
“You decided to go big at home,” he replied, shaking his head.
Nesta wasn’t surprised to see that Azriel hadn’t dressed up, wearing his traditional all-black attire instead, but a little space princess in cowboy boots ran in right after him and she couldn’t stop the grin as she looked at Seph.
Elain was a just a few steps behind, and as she came in, she dropped a black cowboy hat atop Azriel’s head. He rolled his eyes, but said nothing as he adjusted the hat, and was off in search of Cassian.
“Okay, you’ve outdone yourself,” Elain announced, beaming as she looked around the house. “This is awesome.”
Nesta shrugged. “He only turns two once, right?”
“I’ve got the wine!” Cassian announced, pushing through the kitchen door with two bottles of wine and a glass of whiskey.
Nesta chuckled. “I thought we said wine only?”
“We did,” Cassian said, setting the bottles on the table. “For the guests.”
“Am I a guest?” Azriel muttered.
Cassian snorted and motioned to follow him into the kitchen.
In the middle of the room, Nyx and Persephone were dancing to the techno space playlist Nesta had put on.
Elain laughed, quietly. “I need to get out my camera. Anything I can help with?”
Nesta shook her head. “You’re good. Take pictures and send them all to me.”
Elain promised she would, and Cassian and Azriel came back out with their full glasses of whiskey. Nesta looked around.
Elain was right.
They had done well.
Nesta hoped the rest of the guests thought so, too.
Before they knew it, the house was full, people were laughing and eating and drinking and Nesta couldn’t help but smile from where she stood to the side watching it all.
What a difference 365 days could make. Nesta couldn’t believe it as she watched Nyx and Persephone play with Viviane, who had also come dressed up, much to Nyx’s delight. He kept stealing her hat, and she let him, donning his tiny one instead, though it didn’t fit on her head.
She couldn’t help but think of the two people who were missing though. The two people who should have been here. Her eyes drifted to the cross Cassian had made, where it sat on the mantle, it’s permanent home.
A set of strong arms wrapped around her waist and she leaned back into Cassian’s embrace.
His chin was resting on her shoulder, and he said, “Nyx is happy. We’re happy. But… It doesn’t feel right without them here.”
As always, he knew exactly what she was thinking. She gripped his arms over her abdomen and held him there, letting him know she understood.
“They’re here, though,” Cassian whispered into her ear. “They’re here and they’re watching us, watching him. They wouldn’t miss today.”
Nesta nodded and held onto him tighter. If she would have tried to say a word, the tears would have come.
Sad tears because she missed her sister and brother-in-law.
Happy tears, though, because she loved Nyx, and she loved Cassian, and she couldn’t believe how far they had come in the last year.
Clearing her throat, and wiping a tear that had snuck out, she announced, “Let’s open gifts and have some cake!”
Cassian kissed her cheek before he was on the floor, Nyx climbing on top of him, and helping the two year old open his gifts.
It only took one or two gifts before he was completely distracted by trying to play and wasn’t even paying attention as Cassian opened his gifts one by one. But they made it through the pile and Nesta carried in the astronaut horse cake, which had Nyx on his feet and chanting, “Cakecakecakecakecake!”
With Cassian’s help, Nyx blew out the big “2” candle and narrowly avoided a smash cake for the second year in a row.
“Not this year, bud,” Cassian chuckled, carrying a confused Nyx to his booster seat in the kitchen. “We’re all going to eat this one. Not just you.”
His irritation disappeared as soon as Nesta sat a piece down in front of him, but he made nearly just as big of a mess as he had the year before.
“Nesta!” Elain called, and she turned from where she was cutting more pieces in the kitchen. “Come here, I want to get a picture of you guys.”
Her eyes found Cassian’s and they softened, thinking back to the picture they’d been forced to take a year before.
“Still think you’ll burst into flames if you brush arms with me?” He asked, pressing a kiss to her temple.
“Maybe,” she said, and he chuckled as she wrapped an arm around him. “But I’m not as bothered by it as I used to be.”
Cassian grinned, and Elain took a picture of their little family.
*
It was the day after Nyx’s second birthday and all three of them anxiously waited in the living room. It wasn’t that they were scared about the visit, but after last time, there was a little bit of nervousness surrounding them all.
Well, everyone but Nyx.
He was giddy as he played with all of his birthday toys.
Nesta was pacing, while Cassian watched a hockey game around the path she was wearing into the carpet.
“Come sit down, Nes,” he said, reaching for her hand. “They told us it would be this afternoon, but that could be anytime.”
“I know, I know,” she said, biting her nail. It had been a horrible habit of hers when she was younger, but now it only appeared when she was nervous
He caught her other hand in his. “Sit,” he repeated, tugging her towards. “You know what the doctor said about stress. It’s not good for—.”
A knock on the front door had Nesta bolting for it, and Nyx asked, “Hello?”
Cassian couldn’t help but chuckle as he stood and walked to him, crouching down in front of him. He smoothed Nyx’s dark hair back from his face and said, “I need you to be good today, okay? Be a good boy and daddy will take you to get ice cream after dinner.”
He nodded and repeated, “Ice cream.” Or he tried, but he couldn’t quite pronounce it.
Cassian could only grin down at him.
“You’re taking too long,” Nesta chastised, hurrying toward the door.
Cassian rolled his eyes but said nothing more as Nesta reached the door, smoothed down her non-wrinkled dress, and opened it up.
Alis Birch stood on the threshold, a folder in her hand, and, surprisingly, almost wearing a smile. “Nesta, it’s a pleasure.”
Nesta nodded, hesitantly. “Yes, you too. Come in, please.”
Alis crossed the threshold and nodded at Cassian. “Good afternoon, Mr. Nazari.” She looked at Nyx. “And glad to see you wide awake for one of my visits.”
Nyx smiled as he waved, and said, “Hi-hi.”
“Ah, he’s talking,” Alis said, going into the living room and smiling at the toddler.
“Oh, he hardly ever stops,” Cassian snorted. “Picks a new word up every day, I swear.”
“Sit,” Nesta said, sitting in the chair. “Please.”
“Thank you,” Alis said, taking her place on the couch. “I hear someone just had a second birthday.”
“Yesterday,” Nesta said, nodding. “We had a party. He had fun.”
“Good, plenty of toys and excitement, I assume?” She asked, watching as he played with a chunky, wooden puzzle made of farm animals. As if it were a gift from the gods themselves, he slid the cow into the right hole, and grinned up at Cassian. “Mooooo!”
He chuckled as he sat on the arm of Nesta’s chair. “Good job, bubba. Cows do say moo.”
He kept on grinning but went back to his puzzle.
“So,” Nesta said, clearing her throat. “What sort of questions do you have this visit?”
Alis didn’t say much, just looked around at the living room and kitchen. Cassian’s astronaut horse was still set up in the corner, as he’d insisted it was a work of art and as such, deserved to be displayed for at least a few more days. “Honestly, I don’t have many today. You two have made it very clear that Nyx is your main focus, and I can tell that he’s very happy and is thriving under your care.”
Cassian doubted she knew it, but Nesta released a breath she’d been holding and nodded. “We love him, more than anything. We— We’ll always miss Feyre and Rhys, but it’s not just about doing right by them anymore. Nyx has…” She took Cassian’s hand and continued. “He’s become our son, and we’ve become a family. And we couldn’t imagine it any other way at this point.”
Alis nodded and jotted a few notes in her binder. Nesta could have sworn a hint of a smile was on her face. “And, as far as the relationship between the two of you goes, where do we stand? It’s been a few months since we last discussed it.”
Cassian was the one to answer. “We’re engaged. We have been since Christmas, and, since Nyx’s birthday just passed, the wedding planning will start soon. And actually, we’re also—.”
“We couldn’t be happier,” Nesta said, interrupting him, holding up her left hand and showing the sparkling diamond on her ring finger. She gently squeezed his hand, and he didn’t ask, but nodded. “We couldn’t be happier and neither could Nyx.”
Alis looked from Cassian to Nesta to Nyx, and nodded. “I’m glad to hear it. I’ll put in a good report, and you have nothing to worry about. Truly, I wish you all the best.”
Nesta smiled, and it was genuine. “Thank you, Mrs. Birch. Thank you.”
“I’ll leave you all be,” Alis said, standing. She closed her binder. “If you ever need anything, please reach out.”
“We will,” Cassian said. “Thank you.”
With one last smile, she said her goodbyes and was gone.
Nesta leaned against the closed doors and sighed a loud sigh of relief. “We did it. We’re done.”
Cassian pulled her into his arms and hugged her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “I never had any doubts.”
She pulled back and looked up at him. “I sure as hell did. Who knew an old woman could be so terrifying?”
He chuckled but shook his head. “What now?”
“We wait for Tarquin to reach out to us. There’s some official paperwork that will have to be signed after she submits her report and findings, but…” She looked over at Nyx who was still engrossed in his puzzles. “We’re officially a family.”
Smiling, Cassian leaned down to kiss her. “And we didn’t tell her about this one because…?”
His hand brushed over her abdomen, over the life that was growing inside.
“I’d say we’re entitled to a few secrets of our own,” she replied, smiling. “Besides, they’re more focused on ensuring Nyx is taken care of. We’ve proven that time and time again.”
They’d found out Nesta was pregnant just a few weeks before. Not even ten weeks, and for that reason, they hadn’t told anyone, not even Elain and Azriel.
“Fair enough,” he muttered and kissed her, again.
Nyx had walked up to them and was tugging on Cassian’s pant leg, begging to be picked up, which is exactly what he did.
They hugged him tight, and felt an overwhelming amount of peace.
A year of ups and downs and chaos had passed, but they had made it.
They were a family.
All four of them.
