Finished watching Arcane last night and I have some thoughts about Ambessa Medara that I need to get out of my system.
Tumblr media
What I find fascinating about Ambessa as a character is the fanbase's reception of her: she's a big muscle mommy with a hidden soft side. However, I don't think the show's writers want us to like her and especially don't intend to portray her as an attractive person. The reason I think this is because (aside from her gender) she's a textbook example of a toxic, hypermasculine, alpha-male power fantasy.
Let's elaborate. Only a few minutes after we're introduced to her (having invited herself into her estranged daughter's world in a display of Emotionally-Healthy Parenting TM), she announces that she's off to "sample the local cuisine," gesturing towards a male consort/companion who awaits her.
Tumblr media
And then there's this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we are shown Ambessa naked in a bath being massaged by the same comparatively small companion we met earlier. The power dynamic in the relationship is clearly one of domination and submission. She's indulgent in her consumption and luxury and lobs criticism after criticism at a visibly uncomfortable Jayce, all while the artwork behind the two reinforces how this exchange will play out: Ambessa holds all the power, while Jayce is on the defensive.
Tumblr media
In short, everything about the way Ambessa talks and carries herself is meant to convey one simple message: I am powerful. She never needs to insist on her power--it's self-evident.
On the surface, this seems like an extremely well-written feminist icon. Ambessa is strong and confident, bending to no-one and self-assured. In flashbacks and in her own dialogue, she's presented as someone who is willing to take ruthless and decisive action regardless of other's feelings. She exudes confidence and charisma and never apologizes for the space she takes up in other's lives. Other people exist largely to fulfill her goals and desires. Further, later she reveals that she exiled her daughter Mel because her daughter's more merciful and diplomatic nature weakened Ambessa and her resolve.
Tumblr media
In short, Ambessa is the textbook icon of hypermasculine power fantasies enfleshed in a woman.
Thing is though, these traits don't become less toxic when they happen to belong to a woman. Imagine the two scenes above if the character's genders were swapped. Then what we see is a confident, muscled warmonger who establishes his place in the social hierarchy through displays of sexual dominance and belittling those around him. Imagine Caitlyn attempting to discuss the situation in Piltover as a nude, muscled man insults her competence and strides naked over to her in a clear display of power. That's not a character we celebrate; it's a character who makes us feel violated by their very presence. Moreover, it's a character we've all probably seen before a hundred times.
Toxic behavior doesn't stop being toxic when done by a woman instead of a man.
Ambessa is not intended to be a likable character. She manipulates and dehumanizes others (especially sexually), refuses to show mercy, and pushes away those closest to her out of her fear of weakness. She's not an icon of female empowerment. Her character is a commentary on how easy it is to think that feminism means adopting the toxic ways in which men have often exercised power over others. Dehumanization and exploitation aren't behaviors that we should celebrate just because they make a women look strong. Rather, we should re-evaluate what we think strength looks like.

Have u ever seen what aggression some queer femmes have towards butches, transmascs and trans men for expressing our pain about imposed, forced-on femininity?
I'm not invalidating your empowerment in reclaiming your own femininity. I myself have done that too btw, I just have intense pain from a lifetime of expectations to be round-edged, babyfaced and docile by cishet men and how they always bitch and whine about ppl like me existing and becoming "unfuckable" to them.
I love dangerous, wild femininity. I wear femininity like an elegant social armor. It's my deadly venom, it's my fangs and it's my claws. It's the claws of Lilith pushed under the surface, the rage of the drowned and forbidden.
To me this reclaimed femininity is defined by my own terms, not at odds with my gender-transgressiveness.
Why is femininity like armor to me?
Because for anyone who isn't a conventionally attractive cishet man, masculinity doesn't protect us at all. It makes people see us as clumsy, vulnerable and pathethic, while at the same time perverted and threatening. Masculinity is really soft and vulnerable for me to express bcs I'm transmasc, - it's where I invite the scorn of society for breaking out of line as a "woman". It's where I lose the protection and emotional support of the cisnormatively-tradfemme club.
People don't want to be cruel to me if I'm beautiful. Bcs my cruelty back, if I am beautiful, in the feminine elegant sense, will hurt and humiliate worse. I will shred you to pieces and wipe the floor with them.
That's the power of femininity, to dominate and to avoid being dominated, when you're assumed or expected to be a cis woman. People seen as queer / gender-transgressive women are without that protective cover. It's scary as hell.
I'm also intensely aware that I can't meet a certain standard of femininity even if I try, that femme cis women always have the ability to stab me with that painful, othering humiliation of "too clumsy and undesirable, so therefore you're hardly a person and I don't need to have any regard for your emotions or personhood".
Masculinity, for me, is a territory of softness and self-love. It's so, so scary to be masculine because I am without cover, - and in a patriarchal world masculinity is seen as inherently perverted and sexually aggressive, too. The more multiply marginalized an man is, the deadlier that assumption is.
Masculinity, to me, is soft and loving, but hiding under the fear of being seen as an emotionless threatening meatwall. It's not about superiority to femininity bcs as masculine, I actually feel softer, without my armor.
Transmasc people haven't seen a day of navigating masculinity the same as cis men have. For cis men, masculinity is imposed on them and expected of them, - whereas femininity is what invites the scorn and policing from others. For cis men, masculinity can be the social armor.
For transmascs it's the contrary because our masculinity is seen as a transgression against the patriarchy that doesn't see us as men at all. Our experiences are different from those of cis men and saying that isn't invalidating of us being men. Bcs trans people don't need cis people's "model" or "permission" to be who we are.

Hey Chai, and others who have come to the defense of him, and making valid points against Vivienne.
I know I thanked you privately for this, but I want to thank everyone else who has publicly gone on Twitter and YouTube and Threads to make valid cases against Viv.
Trigger warning for CSA, noncon, rape, bondage, etc. down below. I'm going to come out with a brief version of one of my stories.
It relates to Viv, I promise. I'm sorry this is going to be long.
I'm a CSA victim. I have been abused by men and women.
Both have been sexual and nonsexual. With my experience with a woman, it was my caregiver at the time, and I was 14 years old. I started getting periods and she signed me up for swimming lessons. I made the mistake of telling her I didn't want to go that night because of my period.
She told me that "Those lessons cost a lot of money. You're going. You need to put a tampon in."
I went to the bathroom and tried, but I hated it because at the age of 12, I was raped by my 15 year old "step" brother. Not to mention, I am just very sensitive in that area anyway.
I should've lied to her. I was stupid enough to tell her I couldn't do it. She told me to go lie on my bed and take my pants off. I did.
When she came back in, I had started having second thoughts and told her I didn't want her "helping" me. I tried getting up to stop her, but she forced me down on my bed. She pinned me down as she put the tampon in. I remember crying, screaming and wrestling with her. Even beating and clawing at her face. She didn't stop and ended up getting her way. At first I felt... "happy" because it was in. Then I started coming out to my relatives about it and they were mortified.
One of them called her out on it and she was in such denial about being in the wrong, that 2 years later, when I was 16 and had a job, she went to my coworkers and boss and asked if what she did was bad.
I wrote a short story about this experience. But it's disguised under implications and ended up being bondagey without meaning to be.
After years of therapy, I still have a noncon/dubious kink.
I don't get off on these experiences at all.
But you do.
Viv, if you got off to that Dynastie video, where a woman is screaming, fighting, while being bound and gagged WHILE THE CAMERA PANS TO A BABY CRYING AND WATCHING, you are sick.
I don't care that the context is "the man saved the baby from the woman who kidnapped him!!! There's no SA!!!!"
It wasn't uploaded to show the man being a hero. People watching that scene aren't watching it for the plot. Look at the channel's favorite Playlist. The context doesn't matter on this case. Look at the comments saying how "hot" the video is.
Stop defending her. Just stop. Fetishes aren't all sexual. Look through her Zoophobia art. Jesus Christ, look at HB and now HH. There's consensual and nonconsensual bondage in both shows and in her art. Look at the fucking patterns.
Tuca and Bertie perfectly encapsulates the complex feelings and emotions and sexuality and fetishes and kinks. Her therapy sessions, Pastry Pete's getting his karma, and her guilt/empowerment are all so special to me. That show had a perfect blend of comedy and seriousness.
Viv does not capture this at all.
Viv said Raph was an SA survivor. He claimed before that he is not. She either lied or outed him.
She victim blamed the minor Raph harassed. It doesn't matter if he knew the age or not, Vivienne. An employee of yours behaved extremely unprofessionally, and if I were you, I'd be mortified.
I'd be even more mortified to have Raph boarding extremely sensitive topics and blatantly fetishy scenes. Fizz and Blitz in a cage? Raph boarded that too.
And what was Raph's reaction to all this? A screenshot from Twitter posted on his IG story saying: "that's what all the drama is about? A crewmember having a CNC kink?" And him getting a kick out of it, saying "he wants to frame this tweet".
As someone who is into those fetishes and a CSA victim, you are not handling it appropriately, in my opinion.
Especially a nonvictim boarding a very serious scene. Someone who so casually said "it's not a pedo ship, it's a rape ship 🙄" so casually. Someone who has made tons and tons of ValAngel art.
ValAngel is NOT consensual. It's not CNC. It's straight-up rape. I'd also like you to stop liking Val art that depicts him as sexy. It's not helping your case.
The way your employees behave (Morgana included) is horrifying and should absolutely be fired.
The way you behave is absolutely unacceptable.
You don't deserve to have your own show. You and I both know you didn't watch those bondage videos for the plot. You and I both know you've been getting away with hurting others for far too long.
Amazon should pull that show away from you.
You don't deserve to be at the top.
Get fucked, Vivienne.
Tumblr media
But also...
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for your story, Anon. And I really, really do think her day is coming.

Okay I finished the movie. (Spoilers follow!)
I liked the parts about Barbie as an actual doll. I liked the ending! It was fun and creative and had some real emotion to it!
I didn't... enjoy the portrayal of gender.
The movie just really does not seem to want to face up to the idea that in the Barbie world, women are the privileged class. They hold all positions of power and property. Barbie doesn't even know where the men live?
Yes, it's all deliberately weird and surreal. But it's all just too weird and surreal to relate much to the real world. The climax relies on assuming that the barbies would essentially relate perfectly to a random real-world woman, which... even if it were true that all women IRL can relate to each other, their life experiences are just way too different.
(Yes, the patriarchy got introduced into Barbie land! But... how??? It's very hand-waved. Why would the privileged class suddenly completely turn the system 180 just because a guy came by with some books? It almost feels like a reverse-racism thing...?!)
And then, in the end, the kens still aren't treated equally. The movie jokes that 'someday' they'll have as much power as women IRL. But... we literally just spent the last hour exploring how shitty women have it. So now the kens have it even worse than that. And that's okay?
Again: it's meant to be dumb and silly. But we're also supposed to suspend our disbelief and live in this world for two hours. And the world just doesn't really jive with the tone. The more you think about it, the more you treat it as a real place, the less sense it makes. It only works if you laugh off the kens as just privileged white guys just because they resemble them.
Which, also! The movie in the end tries to be comforting to men and say that they don't need to be defined by their girlfriends or whatever! Which is actually a good message IRL: for too many men, being able to Date A Woman really is treated as the ultimate arbiter of human worth! (It... makes little sense in the world, where it seems like the kens really do need to rely on the barbies? But. see above.)
Except the entire way through, the idea of men having feelings is mocked and laughed off. Like I said, they imply that a gender non-conforming man would have absolutely 0 reason to fear violence at the hands of other men, which is... completely detached from reality?! Everything a stereotypical 'man' might care about is treated as being not really all that good, men's fears of abandonment or failure are eye-rollingly chalked up to 'egotism' (again, despite the status of the kens in this world), and when Ken cries at the end, it's presented as humiliating, as opposed to the dignified crying Barbie does on multiple occasions.
To be clear: I am not accusing the movie of misandry. I'm accusing the movie of being excessively cruel towards men who do not fit the stereotypical image of 'masculine', and then also being kind of pointlessly mean at those who do, as well.
Like, in the climax, one of the ultimate scenes of 'female empowerment' has the barbies pretend to listen while the kens play the guitar at them ('Push' by Matchbox 20, which is a good song IMO??? But it's treated as like. Objectively bad.), only to deliberately check their phone to show they don't care, then get up and talk to another man instead. And all of this is framed as, like 'playing on their petty egos and jealousies.' And not as like... them opening up? To someone they like? And trying to do something nice? And then being hurt when they don't feel the connection they wanted?
(Also men getting angry at other men, or staging a 'war', is treated as entirely petty and silly and kinda funny. Just an 'own goal', so to speak. Which, again, feels very insensitive when men... do in fact violently attack other men over reasons like jealousy.)
(Also also it's treated as super arrogant when a man tries to help out a woman who is literally saying aloud that she doesn't understand and wants help??? Because it's soooo offensive to think a woman can't do something she says she can't do??? even though the end of the movie is all about how women shouldn't have to be perfect and should be allowed to be just normal and not really good at anything???? I'm so confused.)
It's just... such a weird mix of a genuinely fun and creative campy setting, which then mixes in the most weirdly tone-deaf and old-fashioned gender essentialism possible. It tries to be progressive at the end, but the setting is already so stuck in those ideas (that inverting gender power dynamics would be really good actually since women are better in power, that men don't have any real legitimate reason to have emotions so it's weird and dumb if they do) that it doesn't track. It doesn't match the actual events of the movie.
It's not just an empty popcorn movie. Frankly, it'd be a lot better if it was!!!!!!! (At least for me, hahah.) It's best appreciated, honestly, if you do turn your brain off and just enjoy the pretty visuals and the nice moments at the end. Which is sad. Because it clearly does try to do so much more than that! But all those attempts just... make the movie more confused and weird and kind of mean?
Basically, the movie tries to do a whole 'haha what if we switched the power of the genders' but then still wants to treat all of the men like they're privileged white guys, even though there's 0 worldbuilding reason for that to be justified. (Plus also it has the typical 'wacky misandry' problems of being incredibly shitty to GNC and disabled men. but like I just expected that literally always nowadays.)
So yeah uhhh. unfortunately I gotta say that I don't really agree with those 'lollllll men hate this movie even though it literally just says that they're okay by themselves and don't need to base their worth on women!!!!!' like YEAH but it also implies some pretty. questionable stuff about oppression and mental health and how much we should respect men who have ~delicate fragile emotions~ too.

And divestors will whine about how white women always got to be pink princesses or some shit. How the box of acceptable women hood has narrowed so much. I swear if a young black woman wore Halle berry’s old cut they would whine about how evil and masculine it is. How I wish all those women a white boyfriend, with the full blessing of the monkey’s paw.
Since covid in particular, divestors have become a cult of the worst self help advice masquerading as Black women empowerment just because now and again they're right about big issues. It's not all of them, but the ones that are hostile to feminism are usually just not smart at all. They don't read and I remember watching one and her saying she avoids anything feminist so she doesn't change her mind lol. Many of them have jumped out of the role of Black women being a sacrificial lamb for the Black community and think because they're right about that, they shouldn't be reflective of any other beliefs they have. If the Stepford wife thing isn't and hasn't worked for other women, why would it for us ? So many are so fixated on ' Black women didn't get to do X ' they're not even thinking ' is this even a good idea?' , ' am I going about this in a sensible reality based way ?' And they will hear this and think they're being asked to lower their standards and date a drug dealer and not, think about your pension if you're going to be a stay at home wife because men die before women; make sure you have work experience because "good men" leave women all the time
Literally all they do is make the box for acceptable femininity for Black women smaller and harsher and then pretend it's doing us a favour. They're pretending their doltishness is refinement because they don't act like cardi b. They're never avid readers or interested in art. They think because 19yros are taken in by their act because they wear midi-skirts that's going to be impressive by itself
They just like the aesthetics of social media ' old money ' style and that's not a problem by itself but the way they build all their ideas from that is stupid. They encourage the most irredeemable form of vacuousness for us like Black women benefit from people thinking we're dumb. They will call behaviour that's obviously a trauma response " masculine" and pretend they're worldly without any of the " work" of knowing anything about the world.
Black women and girls should be reading, going to galleries, building relationships based on compassion, travelling but these goats will have you believe it's masculine to be career focused as if inflation doesn't exist and we need more money for the same shit . A man that comes from ' old money ' typically marries within their social circle like all wealthy people do and if you want a wealthy man, you better get a good education and a good career so you're at the same conferences and office buildings as them
There are so many forms of anti- intellectualism on social media masquerading as self help. If you're fucked up in the head, seek help and if you want to transform your life it's not happening because you made a blog and use cursive font
It's good for Black women to focus on ourselves but Black Femininity types and divestors are getting crazier and crazier as a group ( individually some divestors are fine ). Many YouTube Black Femininity types hate ForHarriet but she is literally the one with an educated, probably high earning, I go to charity ball man because even though she's on social media, she's not acting loud and stupid and being a Harvard dropout still means you went to Harvard and they didn't.
I don't believe in lying to women about shit. Give them the facts and stop selling a fantasy and then an e-book. There are lots of ways to have a beautiful life full of love and safety as a Black woman but that takes effort and planning not content consumption
Black girls gain nothing by being isolated ( in an effort to stay pure ) and not learning about the world. If you can't figure anything else you can do but go to the club like those other ' hoodrats' congrats you don't have any hobbies or interests or friends. Work on that

*Don't like don't read. Post hate and I'll block you*
Female characters I can't stand(both books, movies, anime/cartoons, and TV shows). Reminder I am a female and this is my personal opinion.
Annabeth Chase from the books Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series.
Tumblr media
She is toxic, mean, abusive(both physically and emotionally), jealous and automatically is rude to anyone romantically liking Percy even before she's even in a relationship with him. She is a know it all but not in a good way. Prideful, and looks down on people especially when their mortals or monsters. The monster part I get. But still. Yes she has a tragic background, but I still don't like her. Especially since the books treat her flaws as female empowerment and not actually flaws that she needs to work on.
2. Amity Blight from the Owl House
Tumblr media
I just find her boring honestly. Especially in the later half of the series when lumity gets together. I love Luz's character, she's my favorite. I just don't like her. Plus she never had a proper redemption arc for being a bully(and yes she was one, she was honestly more interesting when she was a bully). I'm glad teens have their lgbtq representation. I'm bi myself. I just really don't like her or the ship Lumity.
3. Katniss Everdeen from the hunger games
Tumblr media
Both books and the movie. I just don't like her very much. I love Lucy Gray Baird from The ballad of songbirds and snakes book and movie. But her, just no. She's part of the reason why I never fully read all the books except the prequel and the first one.
4. Mcu's version of Wanda Maximoff
Tumblr media
I never read the comics. But the movie version of her. Oh boy I can not stand her. Especially since I'm team Iron man. She willingly joined Hydra. She helped make Ultron, she took a town hostage against their will and never faced consequences for it. She set the Hulk on innocent civilians. She messed with Tony's mind! She brought Vision back to life against his will and gaslight him when he got close to the truth. She tried to kill a child so she can play pretend with someone else's kids. She killed tons of people for very selfish reasons. Yet she acts like the victim all the time.
5. Amy March for Little Women 1994
Tumblr media
Mostly because I'm petty and I wanted Jo and Laurie to get together. Plus she's so annoying.
6. Bella Swan Twilight Saga
Tumblr media
Both books and Movies(no hate to actress Kristen Stewart though, I love her in the movie Spencer) she is such a boring character while also being incredibly selfish character at the same time. More so in the books(though I'm team Jacob and a Jacob Black defense squad member).
And those are all the female characters at the moment that I can't stand. There's probably more but I can't remember right now. Sorry if you like these characters. This is just my opinion so let's agree to disagree.

If we go by your interpretation, we could have the same assumption about Z not being into Tom as well. How many shots have we gotten of Z looking pretty disconnected staring at her phone with Tom. The only difference is since they have been together longer, we have more pictures. You are making assumption about an almost 1 yr. relationship based on 2-5% sightings. How many times are we going to dismiss any of her other relationship simply to make Tom look better. He may be the better boyfriend for her since obviously they are still together, but we don't need to create a shitty image of everyone she has been with. Y'all don't do that with the ones Tom dated so what is this about. Also, what is the big deal about Z paying a bill. If they WERE together, and not simply dating at the time why can't Z pay in the great advanced and women empowerment yr. of 2019/2020. She is wealthier than JE and everything is crazy expensive in Hollywood, JE said he was sleeping in his car before he was hired for Euphoria, maybe he just didn't have money like that. That does not necessarily mean he did not care. I am sure Z didn't date him for his fortune.
I am not even a JE fan, and I am very aware he must have done something shitty for Z not to pay him any attention, but we don't have make things up to show that Tom is the greatest, the best, the most incredible boyfriend who has ever walked this earth.

You REALLY don't know much about men do you? 😅
Look, I'm not even gonna argue with you, coz you'll learn soon enough lol....
But I'll just say these few points....
Zendaya is usually sharing and showing Tom what's on her cellphone screen if you notice. That's totally DIFFERENT from someone always just being on their phone and not really paying any attention to you. So no, you don't make any sense with your statement.
This isn't about trying to make Tom look like the best bf on earth (even though, he probably IS lol 😂), this is about how a man who's actually REALLY INTO you treats you.
This isn't about MONEY or women advancement or whatever ppl like to make it about. It's about how a man behaves when he's REALLY in love with you.... plain and simple. JE wasn't some pauper, let's get real. 🙄 Even if he has never made as much money as Zendaya, if your man is on a date with you, and he's okay with you paying for the WHOLE TOTAL BILL??? Girl.... he is NOT into you like that. But go ahead and believe whatever you feel like believing lol, coz I'm not gonna argue with you. I just know that even some of my guy friends (not even a bf) wouldn't think about me paying even for myself while out with them, and we're JUST FRIENDS. 😏 It's NOT that the man doesn't think you have money, or doesn't think you can pay, it's that when a man loves and cares for you, he wants to make life EASIER for you and show you that HE cares and wants to provide. Same with opening the door for you... it's not that he thinks you can't open the door yourself... you obviously have two hands... of course you could open a door yourself! 🤣 It's about making your life easier, showing you consideration, and just basically being a decent person lol. 😅 Men aim to serve... it's in their nature. So when I see a man NOT doing even the bare minimum, and this a woman they're dating?? That already tells me all about that man and how "into" that woman he is. Just saying....🤷🏾‍♀️ But you don't have to agree.
And lastly.... nobody is "making things up". You can easily tell with your own eyes the difference btwn Tom and JE when they dated Zendaya. Zendaya has also always looked happier with Tom (imo). That, as well as the fact that she pays JE dust rn (even though he's her COSTAR) should tell you everything you need to know.

The Raven's daughter part 11
Tumblr media
I know, I know. You waited long for this. But I'm back and truly it was exhilarating to remind myself how nice it is to write this story and how much fun comes from it.
previously: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9 (catching up is highly recommended)
masterlist
Part 11
Hob.
„You two can come out now. I see you sneaking there!” YN called her friends as she emerged from the classroom
“Oh, hey YN.” Sarah casually flicked her hair “didn’t see you there.”
“Mhm, right. What the hell were you two thinking?!”
“I don’t know. What exactly were we thinking Kat?”
“Hmmm, dinner?” the other friend tapped her chin, wondering
“Oh, stop playing dumb. You set me up. You wished for me to meet with Hob Gadling. By accident, of course.”
“so you are already on a name basis?” Kat squealed happily “that’s wonderful news!”
“KAT!” Sarah mad-dogged her
“Sorry.”
“Don’t mind her little outburst YN. It’s all for your own good, you know you can’t be alone all the time.”
“Oh my god, Sarah” YN rolled her eyes “out of everyone in the world I thought you to be the feministic, women-empowerment type. You know I don’t need a man and all that jazz. What happened?”
“I….. might have met someone…..”
“Prey tell! How long has this been going on?”
“A couple of weeks.”
“why didn’t you tell us?” Kat was shocked at Sarah’s confession
“Because I know you both. I knew how you would react.”
“And how exactly is that?” YN crossed her arms
“You YN would just brush it off, not asking anything thinking it’s my private matter and Kat, quite the opposite, would bombard me with questions. Besides, I am still a strong supporter of woman’s right and independence. But sometimes, sometimes….. It’s worth to give up control for a while.”
“He must be really special.” YN stated simply
“He is” Sarah blushed slightly “but honestly, I’d rather focus on you now. Come on. Let’s grab something to eat and discuss where are you going to meet with professor Gadling and what are you going to wear.”
“Oh no, not this again” YN moaned being dragged towards the cafeteria, each of her friend picking her other hand to make sure she wouldn’t be able to escape.
***
“Boss?”
“What is it this time Matthew?” of late Dream mental state was somewhere between bored and constantly annoyed and it all reflected in his tone.
“Permission to visit my daughter?”
“You ask my permission now?”
“I figured it’s safer this way.”
“Why?” Morpheus was a bit taken aback by the Raven’s word. Safer? In Dream Lord opinion it was appropriate or justified or fair to ask King’s acceptance of action, but this adjective was a bold choice.
“Why?” Matthew cawed in surprise tilting his head “cause you can be pretty scary sometimes. And I want to keep seeing my girl.”
“Good.” Morpheus hummed. Deep inside him there was a bit of fear he was going soft. But if it all stemmed from  being frightened of his fury it was acceptable.
“So…. May I?”
“Yes. We shall go together. I have a job for you in the Waking after all.”
“But….”
“No buts, Matthew. You shall comply” Morpheus eyes darkened a bit, and even despite the fact Matthew knew Dream Lord would not hurt him it was safer to adhere to the command.
They arrived at the Waking at the evening, just as planned.
“Now, we shall execute our plan.”
“Well that doesn’t sound omniscient at all, boss.”
“You Matthew, shall go gather some information.”
“What sort of information?”
“I need you to find my sister.”
“You want me to seek Death?” this sentence couldn’t have sounded more ridiculous if Matthew had still been human.
“Yes.”
“What for, if I may ask.”
“To ask her about your wife.”
“My…. Wait, what?”
“This …. Situation we are in has something to do with your daughter’s mother.”
“I still don’t understand”
“I could not find a word about her in my books therefore we shall find out if she’s still a dreamer in this world or rather walking on the other side. If anyone shall know that, it would be my sister.”
“Oh.....” that seemed a bit too much for the Raven’s stability. His existence has been a mess for quite a while now. Dying, turning into a bird, becoming a companion of a Dream Lord, visiting Hell, being a resident of the Dreaming, meeting his daughter in the other form and now this. Confronting his past and maybe finding some missing answers. Matthew wasn’t sure if he wanted to rake the past over.
“Matthew?”
“Sorry boss. It’s just a lot But I can take it. It’s all right.”
“I am sure it is Matthew. It’s only right to get closure.”
“Look who’s talking.” Matthew mocked “you didn’t really get closure from …..”
“ Matthew….” The warning tone of the boss was enough to make him stop ranting
“Ok, all right. I’m going. “ he spread his wings not even trying to hide irritation “Where shall I find Lady Death?”
“She’ll come, just keep your instincts sharpen. You’ll feel her.”
“Right…..” the bird took off and Dream moved towards the house of his daughter, now dealing with his own mission.
***
“Oh, it’s you” Sarah opened the door and eyed Morpheus up and down “what do you want?” her confidence and straightforwardness was something Dream was not used to.
“Watch your tone, mortal. I came to talk to YN.”
“Mortal? Oh, little do you know, Dream Lord…..” she smirked
“Who are you?” Dream’s gaze became colder in an instant. If this one was something more than human he would know. So how come he felt nothing supernatural coming from her.
“That is not of your concern, King Morpheus. At least for the time being ……”
“Sarah!” another girl came to the sight “can’t you be nice for a change. There’s no need to start a war standing on the threshold…”
“You should listen to your friend. You don’t want a disagreement with me.”
“I beg to differ” Sarah hissed.
The tension was almost visible and physically hurtful. Dream Lord and Sarah (if that was even her real name) was staring at each other ready to put up a fight if needed none of them willing to back out and surrender.
“Guys….” Kat, who was naturally more easygoing than her friend looked at one and then the other trying her best to mitigate the raising conflict “please, not the time and not the place…..”
“You are right, girl” Dream spoke turning gaze to Kat. “where is YN? I shall talk to her immediately.”
“Not on my watch. Besides, she’s not here. “
“Do not strain my patience”
“Come on, Sarah,  what’s the worst thing that can happen?” Kat nudged her friend, who was still resistant to giving any information away. “She’s at the meeting. At the Inn.”
“At the Inn?” Morpheus was suddenly hit with realization and before any of the girl said one more word he was gone in the cloud of sand.
“What did you do?” Sarah shook her head in disapproval.
“You know it’s how it was meant to be.” Kat became uncharacteristically serious “you can’t stop what’s coming.”
“don’t start with all the destiny bullshit on me, Kat.”
***
Meanwhile, YN arrived at the Inn where she was supposed to meet with Hob. She was early, she always was, and this left her wondering whether she should wait inside or just take a bit of a walk and pretend that she arrived later than in reality.
“YN!” she was saved by Hob’s appearance “are you waiting here for long?”
“no” she flashed a smile “barely arrived, don’t stress it.”
“I am terribly sorry. I tend to lose track of time when I mark the student’s work. Shall we?” he opened the door and let her walk first.
“I know the feeling” she smiled “but are we going to discuss work?”
“No” Hob laughed wholeheartedly and it literally lighted up the whole room, making YN smile softly. He really was a nice man. “I got a couple more interesting topics ahead, but I think we should order first. My treat.”
“Hm. If that’s the case I might reconsider my choice.”
“I don’t think that’s the place that offers sea food or caviar.”
“You think I’m that kind of girl? Well then, sorry to disappoint but I’m rather fond of simplicity than extravagance.”
“Seems like another thing we have in common.”
They both ordered their simple food and indulged in conversation. It was nice surprise for the girl that they truly had similar sense of humor and comparable approach to many things. During an hour-long talk they covered so many different topics starting from literature and history up the pop culture, comics and movies and now, somehow, moved to the topic of the universe and it’s mysteries. Given her latest experience in the area YN decided to play a wild card.
“Do you think that we are alone in the universe?”
“Are you mocking me now? You sound like one of those crazy scientist who believe in reptilians and succubus theory” Hob laughed again
“I wouldn’t go that far, but….. don’t you think there must be something more than what we see with our eyes and experience with our senses?”
If only she knew…..
“I do. I mean…  universe is vast and there are surely some wonders that can’t be understand simply by using brain and ….. Oh, my god!” Hob’s eyes widened as he fixed his gaze on something behind YN’s back
“What’s wrong?” the girl quickly turned around and immediately got the same reaction as no one else but Dream Lord was now standing next to their table.
“Aren’t you a bit early?” Hob asked
“What are you doing here?” she said at the same time and both humans just looked at each other
“You know him?” she spoke first
“Vaguely. You?”
“Pretty much the same….. But….. how?”
“I should be asking you that. It’s …. Long story. You wouldn’t believe it.” How could he even begin describing his centuries-long life to this girl
“Believe me, my worldview has expanded significantly in the last couple days.”
“Hob Gadling. YN YLN. How surprising to see you two so well acquainted.”Hob smirked sensing just the tiniest indication of jealousy in his voice and that made him wonder who was this girl.
“We’re just getting there.” He said. “I think we still have some mysteries to share, but going in the good direction, what do you think YN?” Hob grabbed her hand and she was shocked at first but quickly picked up on the joke.
“Of course, dear Hob. Like you said – a couple more information and we will be best friends.”
Dream did his best to keep cool, cold and unemotional but they knew that wasn’t true.
“I require immediate talk with you, YN.”
“You seem fairly desperate.”
“Stop teasing him, YN. From what I know he may leave you for a century and being stubborn as he is won’t ever show up…..”
“Century? What do you mean century? Hob! Is there anything you would like to tell me? Like, right now?!”
“Um….” He hesitated realizing he said too much
“ You hypocrite!” she smacked his hand “I’ve just asked you if you believed in something bigger than what we see, you hedged and now you give me that sort of revelation? How old are you exactly?”
“YN…..”
“How. Old. Are. You?”
“That’s a bit rude question to ask….”
“HOB!”
“I lost count at some point, but I guess, somewhere around 660….”
“I can’t believe it…. And I thought I was special by being the daughter of his Raven and forming some metaphysical connection…..” she blabbered
“What?!”
“Ups….” Now clearly she spoke too much
“That is enough. Both of you. I’m done with your little banter, gossiping and …. and …. Friendliness….” Dream really did have enough “you are coming with me” he motioned for the girl “Now.”
“sorry, Hob. You see what I have to deal with….” She sighed standing up
“First-hand experience.”
“See you at the uni? Hopefully at the time where I get my students back.”
“You think they would like to get back to you after all my classes.”
“I hate you Hob Gadling” she grinned
“No, you don’t .”
“YN!” Dream was short on the patience.
““Ok, all right. I’m going!” YN threw her hands up in exasperation being so similar to her father in this little gesture and followed Dream out the inn.

Hello, hi, i started following your blog recently and I just wanted to that it feels so nice to see someone talk about the harm of sex work and that it’s actually exploitive and harmful WITHOUT the “purity culture filter” and with actual care towards the women.
Context: I grew up in a Christian conservative environment so I was obviously bombarded with the good ol’ “Your body belongs to your husband” and “sex is something that you give, women get pleasure from giving themself to their husband” and so on. Even at a young age I always felt that that was wrong but I didn’t have the knowledge to argue against it.
Being taught that “sex is a duty/chore” really messed me up.
I was taught why sex work was harmful and exploitative and I understood that those women needed help. But, instead of empathy or kindness towards the exploited women, the old conservative ladies would shame them, saying that “these women are stupid, they should get married and belong to their husbands instead!
So I turned to feminism. But that quickly died when the, dare I say, trend of OnlyFans and “sexual empowerment” started. It was the same things I was taught as a kid but with a “liberal filter” on it!
Liberal feminists scream that “actually, sex is just an act that you can give to someone for money” “Sex isn’t sacred or personal, it’s just work!”
And that’s when I lost hope. I felt like women would always just be their to “give sex”. Like it really was out only biological purpose. And the worst part is I genuinely started to believe that.
It wasn’t until I discovered radical feminism through the “terfs tag” (I looked it up because I was curious) and literally all the problems and questions I had about women and womanhood were answered! I started to dig deeper and I’ve never been happier, I actually found a movement where we women get to be women and actually have our biology be acknowledged and also our autonomy and so much more!
This got a little wordy but I do want to share my gratitude towards you and other RadFems out there 💕 thank you for not letting the loud people get you down, you are doing an amazing job, all of you guys. 💕 💕 💕
omg girl i love that you shared this! 🩷 and im eternally grateful for everyone who goes out of her way to tell me my posts resonate with her. it gives me so much hope.
and your personal story is very interesting! since i didnt have a very religious upbringing i dont know this side - but it makes total sense! liberal feminists fall for the madonna-whore complex without even realising it. for them its either be monogamous and save yourself for one person or have sex with random strangers who dont give a fuck about you, no inbetween. and as you say, both conservatives and liberals treat sex as a service and chore a woman does for a man! thats not fucking sex positive! sex positive feminism teaches women to discover our sexuality independent from men, through masturbation and talking about our experiences etc, and demand equal satisfaction when with men, enthusiastic consent and saying no if youre unsure or uncomfortable or dont really want to!
radblr helped me so much. i identified as gender fluid for the longest time because i felt like i didnt fit in with the girls in school and the women at work, and radblr helped me see that there is no wrong way to be a woman, that im good the way i am. it was healing. and when i was in prostitution it helped me to have this community to vent to, and now that im out it helps me to work through my experiences, and to engage with likeminded women in this society where all sides of the political spectrum try to manipluate us into serving men!
much love to you have a great day 🩷

well one guy says he's feeling a desire he calls wicked at getting bit by vampire fangs and suddenly "this is all about victorians considering sex a loathsome vice" "this is all about men hating sexy women" there are no other possible readings /sarc
after finishing jekyll and hyde i was so mad that everything is about a woman. even the league comic just cannot stray from this despite the fact that the only woman in the group already has a relationship, she still needs to ~tame~ hyde.
Jonathan: "I don't want to be raped. Not only am I sworn to Mina, I simply don't want to be touched by these women."
Idiots: "Oh really? God forbid women do anything. You should take it like a man. You are a tool for their empowerment and sexual liberation, you don't get a say."
Okay so. That's a thing in the league comics? Mina has to tame Hyde? Is that...? Please tell me it's not a euphemism. I already know they make her have sex with like everyone on the team. Does she have to show boob to make him calm down? Because that's an alarmingly common trope.
It's good to establish in a story with a problem-solving team that the female members have traits and skills that contribute to the team just like the men instead of "for diversity, we have a sexy lamp that the boys lug around and sometimes leave unattended so she can be kidnapped". But OFTEN, these stories are written by men (or women with internalized misogyny), so the special trait or skill the one woman on the team has is just being so pretty she calms everyone down with her womanly charms. And that's so fucking sexist.
They're so determined to tell us that all men are monsters that just barely contain their vice... SO WHY CAN'T ANY OF THE MALE MEMBERS OF THE TEAM HELP JEKYLL WITH HIS LIL PREDICAMENT. WHY DOES THE ONLY WOMAN HAVE TO TAME THE BEAST?? It's obnoxious, why is it her job to moderate the vices of her teammates? Why does she have to debase herself to keep them from devolving into violence?
Like I don't know who's all in the original cast of the shitty league, but there's gotta be a doctor that could play therapist or something. Help Jekyll manage his transformations by finding the root cause and help Hyde manage his reactions to external stimuli so he doesn't hurt people on a whim. The solution is not to throw a woman into a room with a violent man and say "good luck, show him some 'kindness'".

Uhura casting in SNW
I saw your post about the uhura miscasting. Do you believe in the theory some fans have that why they chose an ugly actress to play uhura was because they did not want her to be a threat to chrsitine chapel? I am glad I am not alone in thinking the new Uhura is highly very unattractive. So unattractive that it breaks the 4th wall. Like he creators don't see it. I was scared to say anything because I did not want to be labelled as a racist that hate dark skin black girls. There are very pretty dark skin black girl actresses. The Uhura actress is just not one.
Tumblr media
Oh, Ce|ia Gοοding looks perfectly fine, my dear crap-stirring anon. Large, soulful eyes that draw the attention, a soft smile. Soft lines and curves. It's all there.
The creators of SΝW simply choose not to portray her Uhυra as attractive. And that's very easy to tell because they sure choose to do so with Chaρel. We see Chaρel be confident and cool and in a dress in a bar, we see all the ship teasing with her and Sρock and get to hear her talk about past trysts or a relationship or whatever that was. Her kissing Sρock has him feel~ things. Chaρel is actively painted as desirable by the narrative. SΝW Uhυra? We get to see her in her PJs and stuff her face hurriedly. She doesn't get to flirt with anyone. She randomly hums during a get-together to introduce a MacGuffin for later that is done so clumsily that Uhυra just comes off as a weirdo. Honestly, SΝW Uhυra's mannerisms remind me of Rοry Gilmοre. A book-smart, overachieving oddball, complete with juvenile exclamations during life or death situations ("And the crowd goes wild!").
That is not what TΟS Uhυra is like. TΟS Uhυra is refined and graceful. TΟS Uhυra is someone who is in control. She is someone who is confident. She is someone who draws attention to herself because she wants to. When she hums in the rec room and disrupts Sρock's playing, she owns it. She openly flirts with him. When Sρock tells her to hurry with the comm repairs she doesn't cave. You piss her off, she'll lock you in a closet. There was a slew of people who found her gorgeous. TΟS Uhυra was actively shown to be highly desirable (even if it couldn't go anywhere due to racism).
Hmm, did I just describe SΝW Chaρel? Oh my, what a coincidence.
If SΝW Chaρel and Uhυra switched personalities and backstories and Chaρel was written less like a 14-year-old's self-insert it would already make the characters more consistent with their TΟS counterparts. In fact, it'd make a lot of sense if Chaρel had massive daddy and self-esteem issues, explaining why in TΟS she'd latch onto the intentionally most emotionally distant man in the universe. Goodness, imagine. Exploring the reason for a woman's biggest character flaw in-depth instead of relegating her to just a dramatic love interest again. Because that's all Chaρel still is. Her modern upgrade has been knocking people out and being a spunky wisecracker, but she still has no relevance outside of her feelings for Sρock.
What an update.
To answer your question, I don't know what the creators were thinking, but it was definitely not casting an unattractive woman to get rid of competition. You can't even be unattractive as an actress. That's not how the show biz works. To me it looks more like yet another of the misguided takes about female empowerment that have been trending for the last 10+years that demand that "strong women" need to be independent and emotional hermits and not sexy because that is demeaning and women are not objects of desire or just there to be girlfriends, how dare you! what do you mean, that's what we do with Chaρel? that's completely different, oh em gee..!
The only character in SΝW who got the better deal is Τ'Ρring. She is actually a character now and not just more shallow drama for Sρock. Whoever is in charge of writing her should get a raise and be given the other characters, too, because SΝW started out strong but quickly became a kiddie pool of character depth.
No, I'm not a fan. The first half is fine but then it flushes itself down the toilet. Ηemmer dies and the focus is on Sρock's ship tease with Chaρel. Are you kidding me.
And then I have to sit through Ρike angsting about his fate yet again because the creators apparently hate disabled people.
People can scream all they want about JJ Τrek, but it got things right. It introduced new dynamics and elements that make sense and are interesting. JJ Τrek wasn't afraid to use romance and attractiveness to give depth to Uhυra and realize something that wasn't possible decades ago. It gave an attractive woman agency in her relationship that reveals as much about who she is as a person as the man she's with. Was JJ gunning for feminism? No, he was gunning for badass but got a lot of things right in the process.
They introduce her right after Sρock tells the Vυlcans to go eff themselves, showing us someone who is popular as she greets people here and there until she gets to the bar. Then Κirk comes leaning into the shot and immediately starts hitting on her. JJ Uhυra is not just popular, she is hot. So hot that the main guy sets his sights on her. And then they just start deconstructing the Hero Gets The Girl trope. You buy her a drink, she'll want something from you? Sorry, bro. You impress her with your knowledge, she'll want something from you? Nah, man. She smiles at you, she finally took the bait? Go sleep with some more farm animals, my dude.
Uhυra turning down legendary womanizer Κirk is such an important thing.
She is in control when Κirk is hitting on her, she is in control when she confronts Sρock about the Farragυt posting. Even when she's scared for her life facing the Κlingons, she remains in control of her emotions just like TΟS Uhυra when she admitted to her captain she was often scared but drew strength from him. One of her defining traits is being able to still do her job despite her emotional state.
SΝW Uhυra has none of that refinement and control. It's a completely different character. And I don't care if she is young because JJ's Τrek showed an Uhυra who was just as young, but where her core character traits were all present.
As for female empowerment, again, people can scream all they want, JJ Τrek still did a better job at it than SΝW. And why? Because an attractive woman doesn't automatically mean a sexualized woman. Yes, there is the underwear scene that was completely unnecessary and stupid, I'll own that. But aside from that dumb shot no one in the movie cares about, Uhυra being an attractive woman during the bar scene was not sexualizing Uhυra, it was portraying Κirk as a lecherous idiot. If people take a scene like that and think "Look! She's only an object of desire! She's only there to be the girlfriend!" instead of "Wow, what a jerk. Which part of no is so hard to understand, you loser?" that's on them and their male view interpretation and the bullcrap, internalized opinion that being attractive is an open invitation for every numbnut to hit on you.
It's not necessary for a strong woman or a non-sexualized woman to not have any sexuality at all. That's stupid and limiting. Like having to be allergic to nuclear families. This whole "You can’t want that, it’s demeaning!“ nonsense is pretty much the opposite of feminism. There's a reason Νichelle Νichols was wearing a freaking mini skirt during ΤOS. Because she wanted that right as a woman, not because she wanted to be a floozy.
Side note: I'm not gonna tag this anything because I have better things to do than get into arguments about a show I couldn't care less about. But I wanted to answer the ask nonetheless. I know anon will see it.

Trying to figure out the best movie marathon to prepare for the Barbie movie. Here’s what I got so far:
Birds of Prey (2020)-Themes such as taking charge of your own life, gaining independence, female empowerment, and a classic Margot Robbie performance
Little Women (2019)-Similar themes of empowerment, embracing your individuality and how that means different things for different people, solidarity with your loved ones, all of the men in this film feel Ken-coded to me, and is the only Greta Gerwig movie I’ve seen (sorry)
Austenland (2013)-Again, has similar themes to the ones above, though a bit more optimistic about romance (or at least makes me feel more optimistic about romance), offers both jerky men that the main character has to put in their place and Mr. Nobley (who is also Ken-coded), and puts me in the mood to have fun (plus it has Jennifer Coolidge!!!)
Legally Blonde (2001)-I feel like I don’t even need to explain this one…But I will! Straight off the bat it has more Barbie core aesthetics than just about any other piece of media ever invented, encourages people to embrace a wide range of femininity, once again includes themes such as seizing control of your own life, gaining independence, and embracing yourself. Puts jerky men in their place, also has Ken-coded men (mostly just Emmet), and puts me in the mood to have fun. It is the original live action Barbie movie. (Plus this movie also has Jennifer Coolidge!!!!!)
With an optional viewing of The Lego Movie before Birds of Prey for a dose of deceptively lighthearted toy-based existential horror with Will Ferrell playing the businessman bad guy (insert Doofenschmirtz “if I had a nickel” meme here)
I have not seen a single animated Barbie movie and am taking suggestions at this time. I am also unfamiliar with most horror movies and I feel like there should be at least one psychological thriller somewhere in there. Should The Devil Wears Prada be in there? Should I replace Austenland with The Devil Wears Prada?
(as far as I know, Jennifer Coolidge has no connection to the Barbie movie, I just love Jennifer Coolidge)
*My definition of Ken-Coding: a man (not necessarily a man, but the more traditionally masculine they are the more likely they are to be considered Ken-coded) who is wholly and unabashedly there to support the woman/women in his life and aides in the pursuit of her goals, passions, and ambitions. While being a himbo is a plus, is not strictly necessary to be considered “Ken-Coded”. Another plus, but not a requirement, is if they are romantically involved with/interested in at least one of the women he is supporting (but is not supporting them for the purpose of gaining anything from them)

Why You Should Have a Superior Sovereignty Mind Rather than a Superior Inferiority Mind!
We deep diving today so stay with me. I will post this one on my Medium Writing page as well, so please follow me there under my Pen Name: Miriam Adams-Washington.
Why you should have a Superior Sovereignty mindset and walk within your own power and empowerment! What is Superior Sovereignty? I Know that I AM my own Savior and absolutely No Other being or entity can save me. I also know I am better than you! Uh oh, I lost a few of you. Hear me out…We are NOT the same, nor Am I less than you. Whats next, Yes I am better than you. Why? Because there is only ONE MIRIAM.
Noooo, Miriam, that's a Superiority complex, and that way of thinking has gotten us into these racial wars and human devastation. And I say, Absolutely Not! What has gotten us into these ethnic and racial wars is an INFERIORITY COMPLEX! Especially from the White Causoid people, who has initiated separation through force and harm to others. Inferiority is a breeding ground of fear (the root word In•Fer/Fear). Mostly fear of the unknown.
When we have a Superior Sovereignty mindset you must also KNOW that the next person is a Suprior Sovereign being to themself. And they are better than you within their own self. And it's okay for you to want them to be better than you. Them being better than you takes NOTHING AWAY FROM YOU AT ALL!! In fact you should do your best to help them to do better than you!! See 👁 this is where White Caucasoid people went wrong on the planet, and where superiority turned into inferiority. Their perception was that if someone or a group of people were doing better or doing something different than them, it was a threat that must be stopped. That's inferiority not superiority. Maybe it was because they looked different than the other beings on the planet (and I will leave this one here because it's a bit off topic and too complex to discuss here, however Science has already proven that Black/Brown people were the first inhabitants of the planet).
When you rest in your own Superior Sovereignty there is no reason to harm others, there is no need or a want to LORD over someone else! I am also speaking of beings/people who are of able mental capacity to have a healthy non destructive Sovereignty over their lives. Some do not in the case of the severe mentally ill. Ever wonder why there are so many mentally ill people? Because our societal constructs wants people to be dependent on a system and not in their own Sovereignty. There's all types of road blocks and traps to keep people within an inferior mindset and dependent; from religion to weponizing food, drugs/substances to prescription medications, to made up and created illnesses, and various social agendas. Some people, like the mentally ill, children and the incapacitated elderly will need assistance to live as Superior as possible. I say all of this because the Great majority of us have the ability to live in Superiority Sovereignty over our own self. Many do not, and many will not even if they knew how.
What about God, Miriam?
What about her?
God is me, I AM HER!
You are God, God is you!
God is Her and Him.
Understanding the image of God is everything! It's how we come into the true understanding of Superior Sovereignty. God is what Superior Sovereignty is all about in You! Still with me? Zoom in on this section...
…This is also why there is a war right now on Him/Her. As people are awakening they are starting to tap into a deeper understanding of who they are. When you connect your Godself with WHO YOU ARE, you take another powerful step towards Superior Sovereignty! Let's go out in the waters a bit deeper…How have men/males become so powerful? It's a man's world right? So much so, that a great percentage of the world population prays to HIM! For Him that is Great! For HER, not so much because she places her own Sovereignty into a him, and outside herself! Historically women have been utterly brutalized under male dominant regimes and even to this day, and throughout the world map. We try to ignore it or make light of it. Most have just become dissensitized to it. Men are empowered in such a system but its based off inferiority complex. They want to suppress female empowerment. What do they fear? Maybe annihilation, I am not sure? However, I do know it's a scientific FACT that women could live on the planet without men, we just have to harvest sperm (I see a movie coming from that imagery)...a horror movie for men. But, that's still inferiority because as women that's operating out of fear. I will say that women do have many reasons to fear males. Many men will become angry at a woman wanting to create God in her own image because again, that prevailing fear of the unknown. What will SHE DO NOW WITH HER OWN SOVEREIGNTY? Will She do what men/males did? And then women are so programmed they will become angry at such words and thoughts because they believe so deeply in a male savior. Even at their own deteiment.
Ahhhh, the White Male Savior. The Jesus Archtype! Neo! Let's clear some of this up and how it came to be. Going back to the White Causoid people (speaking in some generalities). We have already established they did not do things correctly in their Superior Inferiority minds because they believe they have to hurt people to be within their own Superior Sovereignty to which we know now, it's inferiority thinking. And all it did was create a Mess of things. Now, some aspects were done well from the White Causoid people…Creating God in their image. At least that of the white male. The derailing happened by forcing this image upon others, and at others expense. This is why many impoverished people pray and worship a white male God. And they continue to wonder why they are impoverished or in lack. In order for anyone to Propel their own Superior Sovereignty and walk into their own power, they MUST unlearn this imagery in their conscious and subconscious mind. White males SHOULD have a white male God! Black women SHOULD have a black female God! A Hispanic man SHOULD have a Hispanic male God in his own image. A Black man should have a black God! White women should have a white female God, and so on! Your Godself should reflect you for ultimate impowerment. This Notion that we should all have the same God who is a Rainbow is ridiculous! Or the Sky Daddy who lives out in space somewhere looking down upon our human musings in disgust, is utterly ridiculous.
Placing God in our own image takes nothing away from anyone else or the white male image of God that has Caused the CHAOS!!!
It also behooves us as women especially to unravel some of this mess! Men will never because they benefit from it. Would you give up a 20% to 50% discount? Many will not! Is it a wonder now how White males have come into power? Albeit an inferior and control power that continues to erode the fabric of our existence.
We walk into our power when we grasp our Godself in our OWN IMAGE. When we walk into and rest in our Superior Sovereignty over our self, we then can respect others with the capacity to do the same and not infringe upon their Sovereignty. We help each other to become an even better version of ourselves with no fear of someone being better. WHO CARES! Doing so takes away nothing from us. If anything the Universe (I Am) will Propel us into a more harmonious alignment with Nature/Ourself and the planet.©️

I have just seen the Barbie movie, and I was bawling for 80% of the film. I was wondering why it was making me so emotional.
I had to unlearn all kinds of shaming tendered towards women because of how badly it was ingrained in my head. A woman who shows her cleavage or wear short skirts are supposed to want attention from men, and that they lack dignity for that. A woman who's curvy or fat is not supposed to be pretty or attractive. A woman who speaks up is supposed to be just whiny and irrational. A woman cannot be a leader because apparently, during her period, she cannot be trusted with decisions.
Then in my tweens and teenage years, I got expose with the contents of feminism and women empowerment. It came to the point where I started to have growing distrust in men. All those pathetic ideology were catered for men's pleasure. Suddenly, in my mind, they are only there to hurt us. When I get to start liking someone, I immediately find what's icky about him and how petty he actually is. And it was like that all those years.
But I had to understand that recognizing their privileges does not mean I had to hate them. It does take a lot of strength, because for most who I am starting to appreciate, would then make objectifying statements. It does determine who's willing to be called out and learn from it, from those who don't.
Next for me was the frustration of how we are pitted against each other, how we're programmed to just agree with our husbands or boyfriends. When I was a younger, I had an altercation with a married couple, I looked at the wife, thinking, "You should be on my side. You should know how it is to be a young girl being intimidated by a man." Or when a woman agrees or stay quiet when her man body-shames me... no, we should both be calling him out for it. Don't agree with him.
So coming into adulthood, I unconsciously started to despise the concept of being a wife, but not of motherhood. I know that's probably ironic but focusing on being a "wife" alone, for me it was all about us being taken away by a man. It is probably more honorable than that. But that's what it is in my head.
I have a very competent, qualified, and intelligent friend, who has so much potential if she only decides to pursue her career. She's very reliable and strong, and she was a student leader when we were still in school. I felt a bit sad when she got married when she was still in her 20s. I know her husband loves her, but it did feel like her potential has been constrained now. And slowly, it has been starting to feel like that. Is the next step for my friends really being tied up to a man? Will those men help pull them up, or set them up to societal expectations of a wife?
I opened this up to my sister, who was very sympathetic to me and helping me find the reason for it. She said, maybe they weren't just getting the support they need for their professional endeavors. Or that's where they just really see themselves and nothing's wrong with that.
But why can a man be a husband and still pursue his professional endeavors?
I struggle with this now being in a relationship.
Watching Barbie made me realize all that, and applying it to myself, first, I should not condemn my friends for doing what they love and believe in. They need to be receiving support and encouragement from me, not these frustrations I'm harboring. Second, I shall not set myself down for my partner and that I have to be certain that the compromises we're making is not only for his benefit nor solely for mine.

i think people (not feminists) find reasons to hate on GoT because it's very "white lady" show about white female empowerment in that sort of culture, which can become a little white savior-y. But i personally like the books and show(s) because they use interesting metaphors to show how women gain power. Like dragons representing Daenerys' propagandized exoticism as a woman, her motherhood, and her pedigree. And how people will overlook a clearly female "messiah" for the dudes with big swords and money.
Hmmm, idk if I completely agree with what you said or even understand it all but I'll go ahead and springboard off this anon to muse a bit about the whole GoT/ASOIAF deal.
To start: I am completely neutral on what other people have to say about ASOIAF. I love those books, I think there's a lot of good stuff in there, I don't think they gotta be read. If a woman (or anyone) doesn't want to read them, totally get it. If a woman (or anyone) reads them and is like "yuck that was bad", I get it! different strokes for different folks! I am also high key critical, too, but I love to be critical. I enjoy taking apart media, whether I like it or not. I don't think there's a single thing on this planet I love unequivocally top-down. Everything has something you can raise an eyebrow at.
more under cut bc it's long....
I think a lot of people, including me, have a lot of good reasons to hate GoT. GoT was a very good adaptation for about 3 seasons, and then dropped off in quality. I'm one of the few who thinks it started getting bad in season 4, while others like to say it was good even until season 6 or whatever. idk cause I gave up on it. They made wild choices that didn't make sense, and they seemed to make choices that were just to be more shocking and violent than they needed to be. For example, the Red Wedding is already insanely brutal and shocking, but for some reason they had to write in Robb's boring love story, cutting the political intrigue of his supposed set-up with his actual wife, just to show some ass and then show a pregnant woman get stabbed in the belly. That fucking sucks so bad. That's bad adaptation, bad writing, bad tv. And that was in season 3, which I already said was still pretty good adaptation. So I got annoyed with GoT good and early, both as a lover of the books and a lover of television in general. I dropped off, but I would keep tabs on it, and delighted in the shitty fuck up it became in seasons 7&8. Still, it's infuriating to know that when it comes to the general public perceptions of some of these characters, the TV show is going to reign supreme.
Now, some feminists might be surprised at some of the female fans of ASOIAF since it's also, like, extremely brutal, violent, and full of rape. And it's true, and GRRM also has made some choices that are just blech. I hate Dany's wedding night scene with Drogo. That was a bad bad choice that hasn't aged well and never will. I guess if I had to choose that scene and a brutally violent scene, I'd choose the one we have, but honestly it would have been better if he just didn't write it. It's also such a strange choice bc in her next chapter it makes it pretty clear Drogo is rough with her going forward, so idk if the wedding scene was part editor's choice or what but it just is so uncomfortable to read. So yeah, GRRM makes some choices that I hate.
But honestly, he makes a lot choices I like. He excels at his mission, which is to write "character's in conflict with the heart." He shines there. And he's created this unbelievably detailed world and history that is really astounding. And even his exploration of misogyny and sexual violence is sometimes quite deft, it's just that it can also be clunky or oblivious a few pages later. But, he's a man, it comes as no surprise. Kinda like how Victor Hugo could write about the horrors of prostitution sympathetically and then go and be a frequent john. Men being men.
And I think ASOIAF has gotten a bit of a bad rep unfairly. Not that it doesn't deserve criticisms, cause it does, and not that women should read it or have to love it, because obviously not. But I think it has a misrepresentation that proceeds it because of 1. the show, which is just it's own mess, and 2. the popularity of calling the books "feminist" at the height of the show's popularity as a reaction to criticisms. It's not feminist, it can never be feminists: it is written by a man.
But if you enjoy fantasy, and want a long and winding series that has unbelievably detailed political intrigue (like it's crazy how the smallest actions and characters still impact the story!), with a deep lore that is surprisingly true to life (not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 different ethnic groups land in Westeros during it's history and they all matter to the culture, story, and plot?? insane I love it), and you want to be in the heads of female characters that treats their pain and suffering as real and important as best as a man could write it, well this has got some stuff for you to like. Otherwise, if you're meh on all of that and you don't want to read about sexual violence, skip it.
