“do you think we’ll be in love forever? Do you think we’ll be in love?” -Lana Del Rey
˚ʚKamado Tanjiroɞ˚
♡The two of you are the definition of: Fell first and fell harder, with him falling harder without a doubt.
♡Tanjiro is most definitely the type to wait for a romantic moment to come, and if the moment he’s looking for is taking too long to come, he’ll set up his own romance moment.
♡When confessing he’s 100% the more nervous type instead of the confident type. It’s not that he’ll overthink little details, it’s that he’s afraid if you were to reject him, his friendship with you would be ruined completely
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘
“Tanjiro, When can I open my eyes?” You questioned impatiently, one of your hands hovering over your eyes while the other was holding Tanjiros gentle hand.
A small smile appeared on the boys lips as he began slowing his pace before halting, you doing the same. “You can open them, now.” He finally replied, letting go of your hand.
The moment you did open your eyes, you saw a great view of the stars as it was night time. He took you to the top of a hill, a small blanket on the floor at the edge of the hill for both of you to sit comfortably. You already liked him although you did know better than to get your hopes up.
When it comes to talking to you in general, he isn’t nervous at all. But when it comes to the actual confessing part, he becomes nervous. Really nervous.
“Y/n, out of all the people I’ve met so far on my journey, you’ve treated me the kindest and I love you more than anything.” He’ll definitely say it too fast so he’ll have to repeat himself. But when he repeats himself slowly, he definitely stutters more.
Tumblr media
˚ʚAgatsuma Zenitsuɞ˚
♡He’s impatient when it comes to confessing. And he can’t at all wait for a perfect moment.
♡And with the way he acts and randomly out of nowhere tells you to marry him, when he actually confesses, you think it’s another one of his attempts to get out of the demon slayer corps.
♡So it’s needless to say you thought his confession wasn’t serious. Especially with when he chose to confess.
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚
Being assigned missions with Zenitsu was something you eventually got used to. But getting assigned missions with him without Inosuke or Tanjiro was new.
Usually, Zenitsu would choose to cling onto Tanjiro’s arm. Although with Tanjiro at the Swordsmith village, he chose to cling to you instead. Which you didn’t exactly mind.
You held the handle of your Katana closely as you heard a demon approaching. With Zenitsu’s hearing, he of course heard the demon just as you did.
And fearful as he always is, he chose to confess the very moment the demon died in the middle of the town you two were in.
“Y/N! I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! YOU SAVED ME! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.” He clung onto you in a hug when in reality, he had fallen asleep last moment and beheaded the demon, waking up right after.
When he realized you though the confession he made wasn’t serious, he had to explain again in a less fearful tone while still keeping you in a tight hug.
Tumblr media
˚ʚHashibira Inosukeɞ˚
♡When confessing, He sounds completely loud and confident as he always is. Although on the inside he’s nervous. But It’s hard to see.
♡With any means necessary, He won’t let you see that he’s nervous. It’s not like you can tell so in your eyes, it doesn’t really matter too much.
♡He doesn’t really know when a romantic moment is. But he’s also not the type to randomly rush in like Zenitsu whenever he see’s a girl.
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚
You sat on the engawa of the butterfly mansion, still in the uniform you were given when you had first arrived. You were completely bored out of your mind and you couldn’t exactly sleep. You weren’t sleepy and you had too many thoughts running through your head.
Suddenly, a small creak from the wooden floor was heard, making you turn over quickly, only to see Inosuke walking towards you, his boar mask in his hands instead of on his head.
Upon realizing it was just him, you stopped being tense, your body turning the other way once more. Until Inosuke took a seat next to you, making you turn your attention to him again.
Just as you were about to turn your attention back to the moon again, you watched as one of the Onigiri’s in Inosuke’s hands got tossed onto your lap.
“You should be glad I like you enough to share.” He stated before turning the other way while munching on his own Onigiri. If you couldn’t get the hint then he’ll clarify more loudly the next morning.
Tumblr media
˚ʚShinazugawa Genyaɞ˚
♡Definitely acts all tough and prideful when confessing but his face is burning and completely red while attempting to make eye contact but failing to do so.
♡He’s really nervous on the inside and the most He can do for a romantic moment is pick some flowers in a nearby field and give them to you. If he does anything more than that, he fears that something will co completely wrong.
♡If you were doing something before he was about to confess, he’ll politely drag you off to a more secluded area before giving you the flowers.
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚
Your own face was a light shade of red but you couldn’t exactly be embarrassed as Genya’s face was worse, practically shoving the small but nice colored flowers into your own hands.
“Genya, are you okay?” You questioned, gently taking hold of your favorite colored flowers. You stared at him, his gaze averted somewhere else, too nervous to look you in the eye.
“Kanroji said this was the best thing I could do for you.” He finally spike after a few moments of silence between the both of you.
Finally, Genya looked over at you, watching as you played with the flowers he gave you. “I really like you Y/n.”
Tumblr media
˚ʚTokito Muichiroɞ˚
♡He’s mostly blunt about it, and if he were nervous, it wouldn’t show. Not even a little bit.
♡Since he’s a little new to love, especially romantic feelings, he doesn’t really know when The Perfect Moment would be. And he wouldnt ask Mitsuri for help either.
♡He went to mitsuri when he first started experiencing feelings for you, but just as she was about to offer how he should confess, he left her Estate without another word.
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ˚
You laid on the soft grass, cloud gazing with Muichiro laying right next you, his long hair sprawled all over the soft grass. A few moments ago, Muichiro knocked on your estate, asking you to watch the clouds with him.
He had a reason he was asking you. That reason was to tell you about his feelings while watching the clouds. But the moment he got lost in the clouds as usual, he forgot why he asked you to join him.
So he Just began to enjoy the Company, ignoring the feeling that he forgot something more important than usual.
“How cute, that one’s shaped like a heart! Reminds me of Kanroji.” Your finger pointed up at a cloud that was shaped exactly like a heart.
‘Oh, right.’ Muichiro’s head fell to the left to look at you. His eyes Soon drifted down to your hand. Before he knew it himself, he intertwined his pinky finger with yours, making you turn your head over to him with a confused expression on your face.
“Y/n. I love you. More than a friend.”

Saving All My Love For You (Part 8)
Summary:Following the events at Steve's Halloween party, Eddie takes you back to his place for a bit of peace and quiet.
Word Count:1, 883
<- Previous Part Next Part ->
Masterlist Series Masterlist
You make your goodbyes, letting Robin know that Eddie’s taking you home. Profusely apologising about the way the evening had gone, and graciously thanking Steve for dealing with Jacob.
"No, no you don’t have to apologise, it wasn’t your fault.” Steve comforts you. “..And you won't have to worry about him for a long time." Steve reassures you with a calming hand on your shoulder. "Police chief Hopper owes me a favour anyway."
You wipe away the wet tear streak that had fallen down your cheek, smiling with nod as you thank Steve once more.
“Hey,” Eddie says softly, laying a soft touch to your shoulder. “You ready to go?”
“Yes, please.” you nod.
Tumblr media
You find yourself cruising down the road, sitting beside Eddie in his van, when suddenly you remember that Robin was the one with the keys to the apartment. You hadn't yet had your own copy of her keys, cursing yourself for forgetting that fact.
“Hey, hey, don’t worry, if you want, I can drive you back to my place?” Eddie offers sweetly.
“No, no, I wouldn’t want to impose on you, I mean; I’ve already torn you away from the party,  you shouldn’t have to also deal with me unloading all my baggage on you like this." You sigh, running a hand through your hair.
"You would never be imposing, not with me, and it's not baggage, it's just your past. Everyone's got a story, everyone’s got their own shit to deal with, and you don’t have to go through it alone, y’know, I’ll be there to hold your hand, if you want me that is.” he tells you. “You’re coming home with me, plus it’d make me feel a lot better to know that you were somewhere safe.” he admits, driving past Robin’s apartment, and towards his home.
“Thanks Eddie, that’s really sweet of you to say.” You smile, despite the few tears that threaten to spill from your eyes.
“Hey hey..no more of that..okay?” He says softly. “How about we put on some music, yeah?”
“I’d like that, please.”
Eddie reaches down into the little collection of cassette tapes that he keeps by the van’s gearshift, his eyes never leaving the road as he pops the tape into the van’s cassette player.
“How do you know which tape you’re even putting in there?” you ask him
“Oh, I know which one it is, trust me.” he replies with an air of confidence.
The slow start of Whitney Houston’s Saving All My Love For You pours out from the speakers. Did he just know that this was your favourite song? Or was he purposely trying to impress you?
Though I've tried to resist being last on your list
But no other man's gonna do
So I'm saving all my love for you.
“You know, I didn’t have Eddie Munson, Hawkins’ resident metal-head, down as a secret Whitney Houston fan.” you lightly tease.
“I’ve come to develop an admiration  of her music ever since a certain someone I know gave me this very mix-tape with this song on it in high school.” he tells you, his brown eyes sparkling as they flicked over to you.
“Wait..you’re telling me that this is the mixtape I gave you in ‘85? You still have it after all this time?” You stutter.
Ten years ago you worked up the courage enough to give the cute, fuzzy-haired metal-head in your English class a mix-tape, you would never have imagined that he would still be holding on to it all these years later.
“What can I say? When the prettiest girl in all of the school takes the time to give me a carefully selected mixtape, I take that very seriously.” He explains. “Y’know, I was going to ask you to come see us play in The Hideout when you came up to me that day, but I chickened out. Nerves got the better of me I guess.”
“I always thought you were cute, Eddie. Even back in high school.” you shyly admit to him as you lay your hand over his where it rests on the gearshift of his van. "I'd have gone anywhere with you."
Tumblr media
It didn’t take very long before Eddie was pulling into the driveway of Forest Hills trailer park, his van rolling to a slow stop beside a small trailer on the edge of the park.
He rushes around to your side of the van to open the door for you, taking you by the hand to ease you out of your seat and lead you towards the quaint trailer.
“I’m sorry it’s nothing compared to Harrington’s palace, but it’s humble and it’s home.” he tells you, holding the trailer’s door open for you.
"Eddie, you don’t have to apologise for where you live. It’s a very nice home.” you tell him as you follow in behind him.
"Yeah I moved out of the old trailer into this one, to give my uncle a bit of space, whilst still being close enough if he needs me for anything."
You look around the space in which you find yourself, it’s modestly decorated, nothing too fancy or particularly garish. You find yourself drawn to the few small figurines that sit on a shelf in his living room.
“Painted them myself.” he smiles proudly, nodding towards the figures. “They’re for D&D.”
“Oh yeah, I remember, you used to be the head of the school’s dungeons and dragons club.”
“Yeah, Hellfire was my baby.” He laughs a little at the memory. “I never did get you to sign my yearbook, did I?”
“I could do it now, for you, if you like?” you offer shyly.
“Really?”
“Yeah come on, it could be fun, I could write some silly little message in there for you!”
“Alright then, just give me a minute, let me see if I can find it, and let me give you something a little more comfortable to wear, Morticia.” he says, his eyes raking over the way the clingy velvet material of your dress hugs your curves. "You gonna be alright for a while?" He checks in with you.
"Yeah I'll be fine, take your time."
You sit with yourself a minute before you hear Eddie stumbling back into the room. He’s already changed out of his pirate costume, although you can still see a faint smudge of black liner under his lashes where he’s tried to clean his face. He’s wearing a faded Black Sabbath t-shirt and a pair of loose fitting black and red plaid pyjama pants.
“Here, you can get changed into these, hopefully you should be more comfortable.” he says, throwing a bundle of clothes your way. “Bathroom’s down there and the left.” he says pointing down the hall.
“Thanks Ed.” you smile gratefully.
You take the bundle of clothes and make your way into the bathroom to change.
You wrangle yourself out of the tight constraints of your Halloween costume, and slip into the warm comfort of the baggy Metallica t-shirt and chequered boxers, and clean your face of the makeup you'd been wearing as best you can, before making your way back into the living room where Eddie is.
"Hey! I found my old yearbook!" He cheers, before turning his head around to see you dressed in his clothes. His heart is caught in his throat as he sees you. You look so adorable like this, so much so that Eddie couldn't help but let his mind wander to the thought of what if it was always like this. He suddenly saw his whole life ahead of him, and there wasn't a single moment without you in it. His girl.
Just like two people who always belonged together.
"Is this seat taken?" You chuckle, nodding to the empty space on the couch.
“It’s all yours.” He smiles back at you, allowing you to plop down next to him.
Eddie thumbs open the yearbook on his lap.
“Class of ‘86, huh? What a year that was!” He chuckles reminiscently.
“..And look at that..” you start, pointing your finger to the little picture of Eddie in his yearbook. “..Voted most likely to become a rockstar!” you smile.
“Well I’m not a rockstar yet, Sweetheart.” He chimes.
You suppress the urge to break into a beaming grin at the way the affectionate pet name so easily fell from his lips.
“Key word being ‘yet’, you’ll get there soon, and when you do, I’ll be right there, in the crowd, cheering you on!” you tell him as you lean your shoulder into his.
Eddie preens under your praises, with a pink flush spreading out from his cheeks. Your words warming his heart from the inside out.
You reach your hand out to the side table next to you, where a box of pens stand next to a rotary phone and a stack of post-it notes.
“May I?” you ask, pen-in-hand, nodding towards his yearbook. “You did say I never got the chance to sign it.”
Eddie hands over the book to you, watching you as you carefully scribble a message on the back pages of his book before closing it shut and handing it back to him.
He takes the book from you before going to open it up to read your message only for your hands to reach out and stop him in his tracks.
“No! You can’t read it now! You’ve gotta read it when I’m not here!”
“Alright, I’ll save it for later.” He nods.
You suddenly feel a wave of tiredness come over you as you try your best to stifle a yawn behind your hand. The dramatics at Steve's party were now starting to take its toll on you.
"You feeling sleepy?" Eddie asks, as he feels you leaning into him a bit more than you were before.
You mumble a quiet "yes" with a subtle nod of your head.
"Come on, you can sleep in my bed tonight." Eddie says, and before you can even protest he's helping you into the warmth of his bed's blankets, hushing your worries about being an imposition.
“I told you, you’re not imposing, I’m offering.” He assures you as he leaves you to get comfortable in his room, before going to make up the couch for him to sleep on.
“Eddie, where are you going?” You call out to him before he can leave.
“I was gonna give you some space, sleep on the couch.” he explains.
“Eddie..” you sigh. “This is your bed, you should get to sleep in it too. There’s plenty of room for two people.” you say as you open up the sheets for him to get under.
He makes his way over to you, slotting himself next to you under the warmth of his duvet.
You tentatively snuggle yourself into him, your arms wrapping around his middle.
“Is this okay?” you ask, glad of the darkness flooding in from his window to hide the heat of your embarrassment.
Eddie wastes no time in doing the same, by wrapping his arms around you to bring you close to him.
“Sweetheart, It’s more than okay.” He smiles, laying a sweet kiss to the crown of your head. “Now get some sleep, and I’ll be here for you in the morning.”

New Couch; Old Habits (Part of the Envisage Series)
Fandom: Sanders Sides
Relationships: Roman & Logan, Virgil & Logan, Virgil & Patton, Patton/Logan (background)
Characters: Roman, Logan, Virgil, Patton
Summary: Virgil's parents come to visit him in his new apartment.
Notes: Leg Injury, very brief allusions to torture, Superhero AU
This takes place after Best Laid Plans and is part of the Labeled Universe.
Roman couldn’t help but fidget on the landing between the second and third floor of his new apartment building. “Are you sure you don’t want…”
“Attempt to carry me one more time Mr. Silvia, and I will throw you out of a window,” Mr. Dr. Sanders said. His tone was without heat, but Roman was certain he was serious. His body may not have fully recovered from being captured, but his powers certainly had. Roman was not interested in having a thrown down with Bluebird even on a day where Bluebird had his leg in a cast and was wobbling on crutches. Roman would probably still lose.
He had to restrain himself from reaching for the man as he teetered dangerously on his crutches while tackling the next step.
Mr. Dr. Sanders was not used to going up stairs with his crutches. Sure, he’d been taught how to do so in physical therapy and his and Dr. Patton’s house had a staircase, but Roman doubted he every actually walked up them. Today, however, they were in a semi-public place, so the man did not want to glide up the stairs like Dracula. He also wasn’t confident in using his powers in a non-obvious way to steady himself yet, so normal plebeian stair climbing with crutches was the only option. Or at least, it was the only option Mr. Dr. Sanders’ pride would let him take.
Roman swore he had heart palpitations every time Mr. Dr. Sander’s good leg left solid ground so he could swing forward supported only by the crutches.
Roman heard footsteps coming up the stairs behind him and winced, worried he was about to awkwardly meet one of his new neighbors, but when he glanced back, it was just Dr. Patton. Dr. Patton had gone to park the car and grab something for them all to eat for dinner. It had taken him a bit as the apartment was downtown with little parking, and he’d likely had to park the car on the university campus. Two bulging plastic bags swung on his arms as he came to a stop a few steps below them.
He seemed surprised to see them still on the stairs, but then shook his head with an eyeroll. “Sweetie,” he said. “I didn’t ask Roman to meet us downstairs so you could make him watch you climb two flights of stairs yourself.”
Mr. Dr. Sanders pursed his lips. He did not turn to look at Dr. Patton as he was too focused on the next step he needed to take. “I am perfectly capable of going up stairs on my own.”
As though to demonstrate, he swung for the next step, perhaps too quickly. He made it, but it was a close thing. Dr. Patton made a sound between a tsk and a scoff but didn’t argue seeing as he was only three stairs away from the top. He and Roman lingered on the stairs below Mr. Dr. Sanders as he finished proving himself.
“Alright,” Mr. Dr. Sanders said once firmly on the third floor. “Which is your apartment?”
“This way,” Roman said, walking around the man towards his apartment with his keys in hand. Virgil always insisted that Roman lock the door behind him even if one of them was still in the apartment or he only planned to be out for a moment. (He always said stepping out for a moment can end up lasting longer than expected and Roman hated that Virgil’s dad had just proven him correct.)
It took Roman a few tries to get the key to work as the lock stuck a bit, and he wasn’t used to opening it. By the time he managed to get the door open, Mr. and Dr. Sanders were beside him.
“What kind of surprise takes you half an hour to get it from downstairs?” Virgil asked as Roman swung open the door.
“A stubborn one,” Roman replied dryly, walking into their apartment.
Virgil looked up from his place on one of their two armchairs with a confused pinch to his brow, but then he saw his parents in the doorway. He blinked in surprise. “What are you doing here?” he asked, and Roman knew it was not directed at Dr. Patton considering Dr. Patton had been here 5 days in the past week.
“While I fully acknowledge I was incapable of helping you move in last week, I still wished to see your new apartment,” Mr. Dr. Sanders replied. “We brought dinner, and Roman suggested we could watch a movie this evening.”
“He probably just wants to make sure we didn’t put our canned vegetables in the wrong cabinet,” Roman stage whispered with an eyeroll.
“I trust Virgil to know the correct way to organize,” Mr. Dr. Sanders replied, “so, if they do happen to be in the wrong places, I will know who is to blame.”
The small bit of banter gave Virgil time to collect himself from the surprise. “Uh,” he said, getting to his feet. “Come in, please. You should, er, sit, especially you.”
Mr. Dr. Sanders didn’t argue (he had to be exhausted at this point). He allowed Virgil to lead him by the arm to their couch.
Dr. Patton, meanwhile, did not sit. He set the bags of food down on the coffee table and made a beeline to the kitchen to grab plates and silverware.
“What’s this?” Virgil asked, glancing at the bags after plopping down on the couch next to Mr. Dr. Sanders.
“It’s from that pasta place we saw just opened down the street while moving you two in. I thought we could try it out and see if it’s your new favorite,” Dr. Patton answered from the kitchen.
“Do they have chicken parmesan?” Virgil asked. He’d already leaned forward to open one of the bags.
“Yes,” Dr. Patton said, amused as he re-entered the living room. “They do have chicken parmesan. It’s in the container at the bottom of that bag.”
“I’ll get drinks,” Roman offered. “We have a 2-liter bottle of Dr. Pepper and the juice Dr. Patton brought. I’ll bring those and some cups.”
“Thank you, Roman,” Dr. Patton said with a smile.
Virgil was busy dishing out a plate of ravioli and breadsticks for Mr. Dr. Sanders when Roman returned. Roman could tell by Mr. Dr. Sanders’ face that he wasn’t enthused about not being trusted to make his own plate, but he was indulging Virgil by allowing this anyway.
Dr. Patton had gotten double the amount of food needed for the 4 of them even considering Roman’s need for extra calories and Virgil’s willingness to gorge himself on pasta. So, there were a lot of leftovers to be packed away into Roman’s refrigerator once they were finished. Roman and Dr. Patton handled clean-up while Virgil and Mr. Dr. Sanders argued good naturedly over the movie choice.
“Thanks for inviting us,” Dr. Patton said in a low voice that was almost drowned out by the water he was running to rinse the plates. “I think it’s doing them both some good. More than you two coming over to see us even.”
“Yeah,” Roman agreed. That’s all they spoke about it, turning to lighter subjects like Roman’s classes and Dr. Patton’s latest read.
Virgil and Mr. Dr. Sanders managed to settle on the movie Back to the Future eventually. Virgil had stacked pillows on the coffee table so Mr. Dr. Sanders could more comfortably sit with his leg elevated.
Only 10 minutes into the movie, Virgil had already fallen asleep against Mr. Dr. Sander’s shoulder. It was only 7:30pm (and Virgil usually stayed up past midnight), but it wasn’t that much of a surprise. Roman had found that man sleeping in much weirder places at much weirder times and they’d only lived together for a week.
What was surprising was when Roman glanced over near the end of the movie and found that Mr. Dr. Sanders had fallen asleep as well.
Roman and Dr. Patton discussed it in the kitchen about an hour after the movie had ended, and eventually decided to let them sleep. Dr. Patton had to go home and let Missy out but told Roman to call him if at any point Mr. Dr. Sanders woke up and needed to come home.
Before he left, he grabbed the purple blanket Virgil always favored and threw it over both of them.
Virgil and his father slept through the night like that until Dr. Patton arrived back at the apartment with breakfast and coffee the next morning.

Can I ask for the super skilled fighter Reader from the last request to invite Eragon for a sparing match after they defeated everyone? Almost like an end-boss situation XD.
Ooo if you need song inspiration you could go with super massive black hole by muse!
“Sparring Fool” Eragon x Reader
(A/N: Hi! The way I practically shrieked while reading Super Massive Black Hole was hilarious. That song takes me back…closer to when I was reading Brisingr, maybe earlier. So thank you. Also…I did not specify this being Modern! Reader. Plus at this point, I don’t know if this is an Eragon insert reader or an Eragon Reaction. Warnings: Me writing to that song! Lol Mentions of fighting. Ancient Language for Dragon Rider and friend used. Word Count: 972 words)
Eragon had learned much in his life, especially after leaving home. What he had witnessed between you and the warriors on Mount Arngor gave him a fast course in learning your opponent while fighting. Sure, he had only visuals to rely on, but he was still greatly impressed.
They bested everyone they sparred with. Eragon watched as you sipped from a cup of water. Who trained them?
Steady in an oncoming stream of thoughts and images of your movements, the leader of the mountain forgotten where his gaze landed. Deep in analysis and questions kept even his sight preoccupied for the better part of your rest period.
“Thinking of a puzzle?” You asked with a small smirk.
Eragon composed himself. “In a way, yes.”
Humming in acknowledgement, you nodded.
“You’ve very skilled in your fighting.”
“I do my best.”
“Your best is impressive,” he added.
“Thank you, but there are others more skilled than I.”
He smiled.
Your attitude only made Eragon more interested, curious.
“Would you like to spar with me?” You asked, stretching.
Straightening his back, he paused for only a moment. Long enough for Saphira to encourage the activity.
“I would.”
Standing up, you inquired, “Weapons or no weapons, Shur’tugal? Your choice.”
An easy decision for the Dragon Rider. One he was most confident in succeeding.
“Sword.”
Your smile mirrored his own and his stomach fluttered for a second.
Let us see how this turns out. He thought as he felt Saphira’s amusement.
You picked up two swords, ones already magically altered to prevent severe damage to oneself and the swords themselves.
Have fun, little one.
Eragon met you in the middle of a clear area. He took the weapon you offered graciously before taking a few paces backwards. A preferred distance for the start of the spar.
Taking a ready stance gave Eragon a sense of calm confidence.
There was no danger.
There were no enemies.
It was another practice in skill.
You made the first move.
If only Eragon hadn’t let his confidence in a sword-fight and his observation of your skills lead him into a false sense of victory. For when his confidence hit a peak, you used it against him.
Retreating to the left, the Dragon Rider let out a soft groan.
That kick hurt, Eragon thought in some attempt to warn himself of any more light damage. They are good. He repositioned the sword.
Years ago he was changed by the dragons. He had greater speed and senses. He knew this.
Yet Eragon very well could had been taking his first few lessons of fighting all over again.
He had been anticipating specific moves from you. All that time spent watching and you had the advantage.
“Are you watching, Shur’tugal?” Your voice snickered towards the end of your question.
Warmth coated his skin to which he hoped was unnoticeable.
They are playing with you.
I know, Eragon replied to Saphira.
It came time to change tactics. To be as unpredictable as possible or almost unlike himself became his strategy.
Eragon charged forward. If he could no longer land a hit then he desperately needed to disarm you. Anything before you bested him completely.
How would it look if you won against everyone and him?
If he set aside his pride, it would look amazing. A skilled warrior who could adapt to their opponent and win was a great addition to have amongst others.
For the most part, you twisted away from Eragon’s swing. Keeping some momentum allowed him to hit your leg. Enough to cause you to stumble.
The surprise in your eyes added to his confidence of his altered strategy. He would need to be careful.
“Are you watching, fricai?” Asked Eragon with a smirk. His bent his knees and looked for another opportunity.
Rolling back your shoulders, you answered, “Closer than you think.”
Swings, dodges, hits, and words were exchanged for a while longer. Limbs aching and sweat noticeable. You both continued.
Close, he thought as he used his blade to push yours further away.
You were left open.
He swung down, however before impact you kneed his side. A little too close to his rear.
Sending you a disapproving frown lasted a second.
Swords locked between the pair of you.
Eragon had never been that close to you before.
“Pouting again, Shur’tugal?” You panted.
“No. Tired, fricai?”
“Not yet.”
Muscles flexing, Eragon added weight to the point of contact. He watched the two blades lean towards you. There was no need for enhanced hearing for him to know you were trying to even out your breathing.
If he could tire you, perhaps he could win the sparring match. There were no tricks to truly fend off exhaustion.
“Do you always…stare at someone’s lips when fighting?” You huffed.
Eragon’s eyebrows rose.
What? I don’t—
A flicker of change, a thought, in your eyes and you kicked one of his legs out from under him. With his weight focused foward, the Dragon Rider knew his mistake.
Pivoting to his side, you gave a shove onto his back.
Down Eragon went. Catching himself on one knee saved some of his dignity.
Not much could be said about his pride as a while as he felt the cold blade of the sword across the back of his neck. Nor did the Dragon Rider know what to say while your fingers pressed down on one of his shoulder blades.
Eragon Shadeslayer had lost.
After aiding him in standing and Eragon complimenting you, tension died away.
“Best two out of three?” You smiled playfully.
Laughing, Eragon replied, “Perhaps another time.”
“I think I owe you a drink.”
“It would be very appreciated.” He smiled and added. “Then perhaps you could tell me how you beat me?”
It was your turn to laugh, “Perhaps, Shur’tugal, perhaps.”

Absolutely obsessed with ur tennis AU. Cannot wait for more instalments.
🥺🥺 omg hi! I cherish every ask I get about this au (honestly because I don't expect them) incidentally I wrote this yesterday during the Ladies' Finals.
Part 7 | Part 9
Pt 8 (how have we gotten here already?!)
Daniel wiped the sweat off of his brow as he cycled, in an attempt to cool down his body. He made a face when he felt the grit of clay still on his palm from when he had fallen onto his back in relief of his success.
He'd made it to the semis, by the skin of his ballsack. His opponent had a lot of unforced errors in the last few sets, mistakes he made that gifted Daniel with the points needed to gain advantages.
He felt Michael clapping him on the back, no doubt breathing a sigh of relief that they made it through.
"That was a fuckin' close one." Daniel greeted.
"But you made it. We live to fight again." Micheal, ever the optimistic one.
"C'mon, let's get you through media." Blake chimed, looking up from his phone to smile.
Daniel nodded blearily, exhausted. The match has gone on forever, they had been fairly evenly matched. His opponent tended to have more bad days than good and it was unfortunate for Daniel that today was one of his good ones. They made a charismatic pair though, so he knew at the very least, they gave the world a show.
Clambering off the bike, he accepted a cool towel from Micheal and dragged it down his face and neck in appreciation. He traded his sweaty match worn shirt (designed to look like one of his favourite party shirts) for a dry version of the same and the three men followed a volunteer down the maze of hallways to meet the media.
Sitting behind the desk of a thousand microphones, Daniel drank some of his electrolyte drink from a sponsor approved bottle and smiled winningly at the crowd. The questions at the very least were all easy, mentally he knew he couldn't manage anything more taxing. They asked him about his opponent, how he felt about all of the exciting long rallies of the last few sets and how he felt about his opponent's outbursts.
"It always sucks to knock out a fellow Aussie, Nick and I'll have a pint later."
"Those rallies were some of the best I've had all year, I can always count on Nick to bring the heat haha."
"I mean, with Nick I know there's a possibility for anything, so I just focus on me and my own game."
He felt good, they didn't know who his opponent would be, that deciding match up not happening until tomorrow. So Daniel felt confident that they'd let him go about his way with no more questions to ask.
"One last question, if I may." Came a voice from the back of the room. Daniel smiled for the female journalist to continue. "This match up created a social media frenzy as one would expect for the two charismatic Australian players that everyone love to talk about. And we couldn't help but notice that you seem to have collected a new fan base. Outside of the usual tweets and messages from footballers, cricketers and other tennis players, we also saw an uptick from the motorsport community. Have you found some new friends?"
"I was wondering where we were going with this," Daniel chuckled which brought out a smattering of laughs from the group. "That was a long question, but yeah I guess I have. I was at the Monaco Grand Prix a few weeks ago and I started collecting new friends like Pokemon." He stretched his arms behind his head, flexing his biceps a little in his amusement.
"A few world champions too, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso to name a few." She continued, open ended.
Daniel's smile twitched at hearing Max's name in the context of tennis. At hearing Max being spoken about by people who didn't know him in his sport. He was sure he caught his reaction before anyone else clocked it but it definitely threw him for a second. He was tired but his media brain was always on auto, especially after that 'Australian Open' fiasco.
"They get the best tickets." He replied with a laugh. The assembled group of journos laughed with him and then he was allowed to leave. He did so gratefully, eager to get away from all the cameras and hot mics.
Michael greeted him with a bottle of water and Blake with his phone, the device still vibrating intermittently. Daniel could only imagine how uncontrollably it was going off just twenty minutes ago.
The brain rot guided him to the middle of his notification panel to his text thread with Max. His dick twitched heart flipped seeing that his last received message was an image. Surly Maxy Max wouldn't send him nudes while he was playing for his life!
Surreptitiously he looked around before opening the text thread, his heart thundering in his ears so much that he was not listening to whatever more than likely important information Blake was giving him. The messages loaded up and it was actually two photos. Both not nudes, disappointingly.
The first was a picture from above of Max, still in his driver's suit, folded down to his waist, sitting in his motor home and watching his phone screen intently. Past the brim of his ever present hat, Daniel could make out the brown of the clay of the Roland Garros courts on the rectangular device.
He couldn't fight the tender smile that bloomed on his face even if he wanted to. Something bloomed in his chest, an itch that he'd been starting to associate with Max.
If he couldn't fight the smile at the first picture, he sure as hell wasn’t planning to stop the happy grin from dominating his face at the second. A screenshot of ticket confirmation for the Men’s Semifinals at Stade Roland Garros with Max’s name peered up at him from the screen.
“What’s got you so chuffed?” Micheal asked warily.
“Max is coming to the semis.” Daniel grinned at the two men who rolled their eyes in fond exasperation. He deserved it, he knew he’s been insufferable lately. But he just couldn’t help it.
“You sure you can focus without making googly eyes?” Blake teased.
“I’ll be focused I swear!”
“DR not sure if you know this but you can’t suck his dick while you play.” Micheal deadpanned, smirking as Daniel doubled over in honking laughter, drawing the eyes from people lingering in the wide hallway.
“Oh shit, what if I have to play Novak…maybe he shouldn’t come…” Daniel stopped walking, his face going through multiple complicated emotions. He wanted Max to watch him play for sure, but if he had to play Novak he wasn’t sure if he’d want Max there for the possibility of him being destroyed.
“Let’s not think like that, you don’t even know if it’ll be Novak. We cross that bridge when we get to it, besides, you can beat Novak.” Blake with the logic ladies and gentlemen.
“Just have Max promise you like a blowjob if you win or something. Give you that extra bit to play your heart out.” Aaand trust Mikey to bring the extra logic.

We know Ned was opposed to killing Dany since he saw her as a child and not a threat but do you think he would he changed his mind if he had lived long enough to know she had dragons and was conquering cities? I saw an interview where the actor that plays Jon on the show said Ned would be disappointed on Jon for killing Dany and I can't help but disagree, I think Ned would be disappointed in Jon for bending the knee to a Targaryen in the first place
Thoughts?
i haven't watched the show & in general i don't like to pay too much attention to what actors say of characters they play. i'm very hesitant to participate in celebrity/stan culture where effectively some dude's opinion is given influence over mine by virtue of them being famous. i only ever talk about asoiaf, it's supplemental materials, & the creator's informing thoughts on here cause that's all i feel confident in/informed enough to speak of
that said i'm also confused by your question a bit, the Ned would be disappointed in Jon for bending the knee to a Targaryen part seems a stretch. we can walk through how i approach it:
"Daenerys Targaryen has wed some Dothraki horselord. What of it? Shall we send her a wedding gift?"
-
"He would say that even a million Dothraki are no threat to the realm, so long as they remain on the other side of the narrow sea," Ned replied calmly. "The barbarians have no ships. They hate and fear the open sea."
The king shifted uncomfortably in his saddle. "Perhaps. There are ships to be had in the Free Cities, though. I tell you, Ned, I do not like this marriage. There are still those in the Seven Kingdoms who call me Usurper. Do you forget how many houses fought for Targaryen in the war? They bide their time for now, but give them half a chance, they will murder me in my bed, and my sons with me. If the beggar king crosses with a Dothraki horde at his back, the traitors will join him."
"He will not cross," Ned promised. "And if by some mischance he does, we will throw him back into the sea. Once you choose a new Warden of the East—"
The king groaned. "For the last time, I will not name the Arryn boy Warden. I know the boy is your nephew, but with Targaryens climbing in bed with Dothraki, I would be mad to rest one quarter of the realm on the shoulders of a sickly child."
Ned was ready for that. "Yet we still must have a Warden of the East. If Robert Arryn will not do, name one of your brothers. Stannis proved himself at the siege of Storm's End, surely."
-AGOT, Eddard II
ned's first reaction to robert bringing up the potential threat of viserys/daenerys is complete dismissal and a sinking feeling that robert has lived in the past so long that it's now the only language he speaks. this whole conversation (which i've only excerpted) has ned continuously brushing off robert's blustering in favor of addressing a more pressing issue: the wardenship of the east, and the lannister influence over robert's court. ned's dogged practicality clashes with robert's quickness to rage
the divide there is obvious. robert is in many ways still fighting the rebellion. ned has put down his weapons and catalogued the scars. it irks him that the lannisters benefitted from treachery & dishonor, and when ned sees gregor clegane (who raped elia and killed baby aegon) in king's landing he watches the man with "disquiet," against his own explicit policy of not listening to nor judging men based on rumor (speaking of! daenerys' dragons are, of course, little more than rumor in westeros)
"Robert, I ask you, what did we rise against Aerys Targaryen for, if not to put an end to the murder of children?"
"To put an end to Targaryens!" the king growled.
"Your Grace, I never knew you to fear Rhaegar." Ned fought to keep the scorn out of his voice, and failed. "Have the years so unmanned you that you tremble at the shadow of an unborn child?"
-AGOT, Eddard VIII
i think it's clear enough by now. ned does not share robert's deep hatred of all things targaryen. he rose in rebellion because he was pushed to the brink, the murder of his father & brother among other northern noblemen by aerys, lyanna missing, the call for his and robert's head by aerys, injustice after injustice and even then, ned was fighting aerys specifically—you can listen to grrm's thoughts on the matter here if you'd like. he cites the fact that ned was "radicalized" by a "personal grievance," i.e. reluctant to conflict until the situation became personally unbearable, despite the immorality of aerys' actions pre-dating rickard/brandon's executions. ned's clashing with the lannisters is not dissimilar in that, despite his distaste for them being 14 years old, he's only moved to act when his loved ones (jon arryn/robert/bran/sansa and arya) are affected.
AGOT Bran I also comes to mind, where we get a crash course in ned's ideas of justice, ranging from theon's hostage/ward presence, to swinging the sword himself, to the conversation he has with bran about bravery and duty.
to answer your question on whether ned would change his mind about assassinating daenerys should news of dragons hatching come to him, let me bring into context ned's three dealings with potential threats he takes seriously:
first, AGOT Catelyn I, where they speak of mance rayder king beyond the wall as well as the supernatural Others, who ned immediately dismisses as a fairytale (another clue on how seriously he'd take rumors of dragons hatching):
["]The day may come when I will have no choice but to call the banners and ride north to deal with this King-beyond-the-Wall for good and all."
"Beyond the Wall?" The thought made Catelyn shudder.
Ned saw the dread on her face. "Mance Rayder is nothing for us to fear."
"There are darker things beyond the Wall." She glanced behind her at the heart tree, the pale bark and red eyes, watching, listening, thinking its long slow thoughts.
His smile was gentle. "You listen to too many of Old Nan's stories. The Others are as dead as the children of the forest, gone eight thousand years. Maester Luwin will tell you they never lived at all. No living man has ever seen one."
second, ned's growing belief that the lannisters are behind both jon arryn's death and bran's fall, and how robert would react to it:
This was the boy he had grown up with, he thought; this was the Robert Baratheon he'd known and loved. If he could prove that the Lannisters were behind the attack on Bran, prove that they had murdered Jon Arryn, this man would listen. Then Cersei would fall, and the Kingslayer with her, and if Lord Tywin dared to rouse the west, Robert would smash him as he had smashed Rhaegar Targaryen on the Trident. He could see it all so clearly.
third, ned's plan to use theon as a means of getting balon greyjoy's fleet should there be war to come:
When the door had closed behind him, Ned turned back to his wife. "Once you are home, send word to Helman Tallhart and Galbart Glover under my seal. They are to raise a hundred bowmen each and fortify Moat Cailin. Two hundred determined archers can hold the Neck against an army. Instruct Lord Manderly that he is to strengthen and repair all his defenses at White Harbor, and see that they are well manned. And from this day on, I want a careful watch kept over Theon Greyjoy. If there is war, we shall have sore need of his father's fleet."
so basically: a heavy reluctance to conflict. a deeply-held confidence in the martial power of the north to preserve itself. a miscalculation of how the recent conflict in which balon greyjoy's sons were killed or taken hostage might have permanently soured any possibility of allyship between the north & the iron islands.
so do you see that i do not think word of queen daenerys nor rumors of her dragons would necessarily move ned to any sort of proactive violence? the concept of 'swinging the sword yourself' is also one that makes me strongly disagree. ned would never agree with the idea of assassinating daenerys targaryen, or anyone really. it's not his moral code nor is it really his game
[T]he man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man's life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.
"One day, Bran, you will be Robb's bannerman, holding a keep of your own for your brother and your king, and justice will fall to you. When that day comes, you must take no pleasure in the task, but neither must you look away. A ruler who hides behind paid executioners soon forgets what death is."
-
That brought a bitter twist to Ned's mouth. "Brandon. Yes. Brandon would know what to do. He always did. It was all meant for Brandon. You, Winterfell, everything. He was born to be a King's Hand and a father to queens. I never asked for this cup to pass to me."
-
It was all too much. For a moment Eddard Stark wanted nothing so much as to return to Winterfell, to the clean simplicity of the north, where the enemies were winter and the wildlings beyond the Wall.
i also would just pose the question of why ned would be disappointed in jon for bending the knee at a moment when the north is in dire straits, the lannisters hold power in king's landing, and winterfell is occupied by the boltons? how does this square?
daenerys coming north & displaying concern for the northern people in a direct parallel to alysanne whose visit remains fondly remembered would, i believe, be a metric ton of goodwill that jon would have to be much less adept than he is not to recognize. robb, ned's actual narrative successor, made the mistake of not allying himself with renly, remember? and keep in mind jon's relationship with northern xenophobia (against the wildlings), in the middle of descending winter/Others, during a war built on many a personal grievance of his own (deaths of ned and robb, his missing siblings, theon greyjoy's role in winterfell's usurpation) has him stuck between a rock and a hard place already.
oof this is a whole essay now, isn't it? i'll wrap it up but here's two last quotes regarding northern attitudes, to be put in context of daenerys' potential involvement there:
"Renly Baratheon is nothing to me, nor Stannis neither. Why should they rule over me and mine, from some flowery seat in Highgarden or Dorne? What do they know of the Wall or the wolfswood or the barrows of the First Men? Even their gods are wrong. The Others take the Lannisters too, I've had a bellyful of them." He reached back over his shoulder and drew his immense two-handed greatsword. "Why shouldn't we rule ourselves again? It was the dragons we married, and the dragons are all dead!"
-
"Wolves and women wed for life," Haggon often said. "You take one, that's a marriage. The wolf is part of you from that day on, and you're part of him. Both of you will change."

Text under cut.
No one regrets having a child, or so it’s said. I’ve heard this logic often, usually after I’m asked if I have children, then, when I say I don’t, if I plan to. I tend to evade the question, as I find that the truth—I have no plans to be a parent—is likely to invite swift dissent. I’ll be told I’ll change my mind, that I’m wrong, and that while I’ll regret not having a child, people don’t regret the obverse. Close family, acquaintances, and total strangers have said this for years; I let it slide, knowing that, at the very least, the last part is a fiction.
It is, unsurprisingly, a challenge to get solid data on the number of parents who regret having children. In 1975, the popular advice columnist Ann Landers asked her readers if, given the chance to do it all over again, they’d have children. Seventy percent said they wouldn’t; this result, though, came from a group of self-selecting respondents. “The hurt, angry and disenchanted” are more inclined to write back than contented people, as Landers observed in a follow-up 1976 column. But in 2013, a Gallup poll asked Americans 45 and older how many kids they’d have if they could go back in time. Seven percent of the respondents with children said zero. And in 2023, a study estimated that up to 5% to 14% of parents in so-called developed countries, including the United States, regret their decision to have children.
These studies align with what I've found in my personal life: While most parents don’t regret having kids, some do. Perhaps in part because I’ve written publicly about choosing not to have children, I’ve had people, especially mothers, confide in me about parental regret, and frequently enough I’ve lost count.
Most of the time—whether I hear it in passing, quickly, from a stranger at a literary event, or late at night from a beloved friend—this kind of revelation arises from a place of anguish. Some of these parents talk about feeling utterly alone, like villains past all imagining. Several have noted that, afraid of being judged, they decline to be candid with their own therapists. If asked what I think, I reply that, from what I’m hearing, they’re not alone. Not at all. I hope it helps; I’m told, at times, it does. It’s a physic to which I’ve devoted my life: asked why I write, I often respond that books, words have provided vital fellowship during spells of harsh isolation, when I thought that solitude and its attendant, life-torquing evils—shame, guilt, the pain of exile—might kill me.
Meanwhile, I’m so often advised that I’ll be a parent that, though I’m sure I won’t, I still prod at this ghost self, trying on its shape, asking what I’d do if I felt obliged to adopt this spectral, alternate life as mine. For here’s the next question people tend to broach if I indicate I don’t plan on having kids: what does my husband think? I find this odd, a little prying—do people think I didn’t discuss this topic with him, at length, long before we pledged to share a life?—but the question also rings the alarm bell of one of my own great fears. If I respond with the truth, that he feels exactly as I do, here’s the usual follow-up: but what if he changes his mind?
I have friends who long for kids, and I know the need to be potent, inarguable, as primal as my desire to go without. I’ve seen parent friends’ faces open with love as they watch their small children sing to living-room karaoke, the adults radiating joy as laughing tots carol and bop. Should my husband’s mind change, I can picture the rift that would open wide, dividing us. Either I’d deprive him of what he needs, or I’d give in, birthing a child I don’t want. Or, and this prospect is painful enough that it hurts to type the words, our lives would have to diverge. No bridge of compromise can quite traverse the rift: as King Solomon knew, there are no half-children.
This fear is so salient that I turned it into a pivotal tension in my upcoming novel, Exhibit: a celebrated photographer and her husband agreed they both don’t want children, but he wakes up one day realizing he does, and powerfully so. She’s certain she ought not be a parent; he’s pining for a child; they love each other very much. Short on joint paths forward, they have no idea what to do next.
Parental regret springs from a range of origins, not all having to do with privation of choice or means. In and before a post-Dobbs U.S., people have given birth against their will. The cost of raising a child runs high; for parents lacking funds and support, dire hardship can result. It’s a lack far too typical in the U.S., where there’s no federally mandated paid parental leave, and families are often priced out of childcare. But this regret isn’t a phenomenon limited to people in grave financial straits, nor to those forced into parenting. Other parents, all through the world, also wish they’d elected otherwise.
In recent months, as I waited for the publication of the novel I worked on for nine years, I kept returning to the plight I’d explored: I hadn’t yet finished wondering what I might do, how I’d live, if. And though I’d heard a range of chronicles of parental regret, as have other friends without kids, the stories were related one-on-one, in private. It’s a taboo subject, one made all the more difficult, punitive, by the ubiquitous belief that people who feel as they do either can’t or ought not exist.
I’ve also thought about the isolating effect of silence, and what it can cost to live in hiding. I wanted to talk with parents who, if they could go back in time, might make different choices—and who’d also agree to be quoted. It was, again unsurprisingly, hard to find people willing to speak with me on the record about parental regret. I promised to alter the names of each parent I interviewed for this piece. Even so, people were skittish.
“I don't think that everyone is made for children,” says Helen, a high school teacher in her 40s. And telling people that their purpose is to reproduce is destructive, she adds. It’s what she heard growing up: though Helen wanted to take Latin in high school, her mother forced her to enroll in home economics instead. “I don't think I ever decided to have kids. I was pretty much just told that that's what you do. That's what girls are for,” Helen says.
As a result, Helen makes sure to tell her students that having children is an option, one that might not be right for them. She says the same thing to her kids, both girls. “I think that people need to know that just being themselves is enough,” she says.
At this point, half an hour into a phone call, Helen has cried, briefly, a couple of times. Now, I’m the one tearing up. I tell Helen I grew up in a predominantly Christian Korean American community. The primacy of having kids is built into the Korean language: I knew most Korean adults only as “the mother of x” or “the father of y.” I might have felt less strange if I’d had a Helen at my high school. While I didn’t quite, at any point, decide against being a parent—I didn’t have to, since I had no inkling of the urge in the first place—I also never heard it said that there might be an alternative.
“And if you thought there was any other way to live, there's something wrong with you,” Helen says.
I ask what she’d do if she had more time to herself. “I would write. I would take walks,” she replies. “I enjoyed writing academic papers. I enjoyed writing them for my master's.” It used to upset her when classes were too easy. Given the chance, she would think for hours without interruption. She’d take up further studies.
And if she could inhabit the person she was before she became a parent? “I would have stopped that pregnancy before it happened.” But that’s the part Helen’s never said to her daughters, who, after all, didn’t ask to be born. She’s hell-bent on raising them well, not taking out any regrets on the girls. “I love them. I just don't love the choice I made.”
Each parent I talk to points out this dividing line: it’s possible to have strong, lasting regrets about a life choice while ferociously loving—and caring for—the fruit of that decision. Paul, a Canadian father of young boys, notes that though he could write a book on everything he resents having lost as a result of becoming a parent, he also would do anything for his kids. Paul’s boys are the loves of his life. Still, overall, fathering has been detrimental to his well-being.
“My body is constantly on standby, waiting for the next disaster,” Paul says. “As an introvert, I also deeply resent having no private time.” He’s fatigued and never at ease, finding all aspects of child-rearing to be stressful. It’s not a problem that would be resolved if he had more caretaking support. “I do have help with the kids from family, and I know if I asked for more help, I'd get it,” he tells me, but he often refuses help because he believes that, as a father, it's his job to take on the brunt of tasks that attend parenting.
Instead, what Paul lacks, in terms of support, is people with whom he can be honest. “I don't have anyone to talk to about parental regret,” he says. He wishes he had more spaces where parents aren't publicly shamed for feeling trapped or stifled. And though he’d felt ambivalent about becoming a father, and it was his husband who first decided he wanted a child, he hasn’t let this initial split in longing drive them apart. With his husband, as with the other people in his life, he's quiet about his regret: “As much as I might feel his desire to be a parent has led me to my decision, that decision was also my own.”
People have asked how I learned that not having kids might be an option. I live in San Francisco, where I’m hardly the only person with no kids—out of the major U.S. cities, San Francisco has the smallest percentage of children—but even so, for some people, having kids can feel so fated that they talk about not having imagined otherwise.
One friend who’s asked this question has told me she felt regret during the first years of her child’s life, but that, as her child got older, the rue left. For other parents, though, the regret proves lasting. Robin, who has adult offspring in their 40s, says that, to this day, if she could reverse time, she would “certainly not have a baby ever, not under any circumstances.” She notes that she’d had no notion of what being a parent can entail. Having grown up in an affluent, cheerful family, she was glad to have children with her husband, figuring that “it all just looked like a romantic, happy road.”
Instead, after electing to be a stay-at-home mother, Robin found herself in what she calls “the domestic gulag,” a life that consisted of being “a chauffeur and an arranger and an appointment setter and a social secretary and a party planner and a chef and a meal planner and a budgeter” and “an emergency nurse and a night nurse and a psychologist and a confidant.”
Robin also, like the other parents I spoke to, felt responsible for raising her children well, teaching them how to lead “good, honorable, happy” lives, striving to instill and model integrity and kindness. It was a daily, 20-year effort all the more crushing since, each morning, waking up, she’d recall the day’s to-do list and know that she didn’t want to do any of it.
Replying to my questions, Robin keeps having to pause to take phone calls from a nurse caring for her ill, elderly aunt. There’s no one else in Robin’s family who’ll fill the role, she says, so it’s up to her to look after her aunt’s well-being. I’m conscious that I’m telling you this because I’m alive to what at least some readers will think about Helen, Paul, and Robin: that the act of admitting to regret ipso facto convicts them as bad, unfit parents. As, that is, evil people. They know it, too, and are as afraid of being recognized as they are intent on telling people what they’re living through—hoping, with a fervor I recognize from my bygone life as an evangelical Christian, to prevent others’ misery.
Hoping to ease others’ solitude, too. Online forums aside, there are almost no spaces where a parent can discuss regret. Some of this is for good reason—no child should have to hear that they’re regretted—but what other human experience is there about which one will probably be judged a monster for having any regret at all?
One problem is that our culture wants just one kind of story about parenting, and it’s a story of “pure joy,” says Yael Goldstein-Love, a writer and psychotherapist in California whose clinical practice focuses on people who are adapting to parenthood. But, Goldstein-Love says, people often experience grief in the transition to being a parent, grief for the life they might have inhabited otherwise. “Part of what makes the grief unspeakable is that there's always a strand of this regret,” she adds.
While Goldstein-Love hasn’t had patients bring it up, she also has friends who confide in her about parental regret. I mention the alacrity with which people can lunge to say that no parent feels regret, that it’s impossible. I ask if, perhaps, this type of remorse poses an existential threat, belying an ideal picture of what we might be to our own parents. Is this an aspect of why people can be so quick to refute the notion that regret can, and does, happen?
Absolutely, she replies: Most people want to believe that our parents felt nothing but delight about raising us. “They never regretted a moment. They never hated us. And that's bullsh-t.” I ask Goldstein-Love what she’d tell parents who wish they had made another choice.
“To the extent that you can, and this is much easier said than done, try not to feel ashamed of this.” It’s tempting, she explains, to judge how we feel about life experiences, asking ourselves, “Does this make me a good person? Does this make me a bad person? Am I doing this right? Am I doing this wrong?”
But feelings aren’t inherently “truly ugly,” Goldstein-Love says. “They just are.” It’s what people make of their feelings that might be “ugly or not.” Some people don’t find joy in parenting, let alone pure joy, “and that’s also fine.” Regret is not itself a threat to a parent’s love for a child, and it can help to admit, even to oneself, that which might feel unspeakable. “I really would encourage people to realize that you are not alone in this feeling,” she says.
I think of the halting conversations I’ve been having with parents, and the difficulty with which people talk about regret. Few choices are less irreversible than deciding to be a parent: once the child is born, a person is here who didn’t previously exist. But I also wonder who’s being served well by a monolithic idea that no one regrets being a parent. Not these parents; not, as some of the people I’ve spoken with have pointed out, any kids who pick up on parental regret and think it can’t happen, except to them. If more people had the support to make reproductive choices based on their own desires and life situations, and if the monolith were spalled in favor of plural narratives that better reflect the complexities of human experience, what then?
I think of the people who have spoken to me about regret and isolation, including those I haven’t yet mentioned—a mother finishing nursing school in Mississippi, a mother of five in Nebraska, and all the privately confiding parents. One parent asks at the end of our conversation, “What have other parents said? Was it the same thing? Was it the same thing as me?”

For the Sonic ask game, 🤖 Favorite robot and 🦔 Favorite version of Sonic? (the character)?
🤖 Favorite robot?
Even split between Gamma and Omega. Maybe a little predictable, I know, but if you haven't picked up the gist from the last reply I did, I was formatively baked on the Adventure games, and Heroes. Gamma's story is heartwrenching and he's such a compelling tragic figure, but I think Omega has a little more vivacity as a long-term cast member and he's very fun. I admittedly am not always the fond of the 'zany murder robot' interpretation others do, I kind of like his slightly stodgier game version where he feels like an affronted ronin who is also a walking tank and can't resist being a little snide and arrogant but also has his personal sense of ego that keeps him a bit chilly. 'Worthless consumer models,' indeed.
🦔 Favorite version of Sonic? (the character)
Kinda like the games, I think every version has its own appeals. Adventure was formative, obviously, so that tips the scale (classic Sonic is cute but I don't think he'll ever quite feel like 'my' Sonic).
Ultimately, well, I suppose I'm biased in that I have my own version of Sonic for personal AU purposes, and while I don't think he's 'the best' by any means (he's just more of the flavors I personally enjoy) you can kind of see my favorite bits in there.
I think my favorite writing take on him is Ian Flynn's comic run; where he's cheerful and upbeat, but distinctly cunning and calculating, whether that's bartering with Eggman without trusting him or honestly kind of lying to his friends to maintain that uncomplicated big brother best friend vibe. I feel like it's a fun statement about how Sonic, out-of-universe, is billed as Your Cool Babysitter to a presumed kid audience- a fantasy of how small children view teenagers. (This is part of why the movies feel like such a strong contrast; it's putting Sonic as a young person viewed from an adult's lens instead)
And that gets pretty spicy when Sonic himself is a flawed complex person dealing with a lot; in almost every incarnation he doesn't really have mentors or confidants himself, whether they just aren't present or unreliable or traumatically taken from him. He kind of stifles his needs to be an unquestioned hero to others, and unlike a 'chosen one' kind of dilemma, you get the sense Sonic does it to himself, which is a really interesting angle. 'Sure I have a little bit of a martyr complex but I'm cool about it'.
(We all remember that time you tried to outrun a black hole, Sonic)

(Cont’d)
She turns, coming face to face with The City’s 8th most important financial advisor.
“Snicket, Snicket, Snicket,” Esme drawls. “Katherine. That dress has not been in for at least seven decades.” She eyes Kit up and down critically. “And your mask is practically last century.”
“Yes,” Kit replies, condescendingly because Esme just so easily brings out this side of her. “That is the theme of the masked ball.”
Esme scoffs. “How terribly out.” She takes a step closer, easily invading into Kit’s personal space, and then extends out her right hand, index finger landing on Kit’s shoulder, then runs down her collarbone. “And so is this necklace - I wouldn’t even consider stealing it, that’s how out it is.”
Kit rolls her eyes, “Well, thanks so much for the completely unsolicited fashion commentary that added no value whatsoever.”
Esme laughs, saccharine and insincere, “Oh, Snicket, no need to be jealous of my vast amount of knowledge in fashion.”
It’s Kit’s turn to scoff. “What makes you think I’d be in any way jealous of something as useless as that?”
“Fair point,” Esme permits airily. “You do completely lack any sort of taste, after all. Unlike me, who’s the pinnacle of good taste.”
“Of course,” Kit says. “That certainly explains why I’m sleeping with you and why you’re sleeping with me.”
For the first time of tonight, the ever so eloquent Esme, fluent in insults and biting remarks and all kinds of verbal attacks, is at a sudden loss for words. “You - ” she halts, glaring at Kit, then quickly composes herself. “I was talking about fashion!”
Amusement flashes across Kit’s eyes. They both know it’s Kit who won this round the moment Esme loses her cool and attempts such a weak comeback.
“If you say so,” Kit replies, cheerfully.
Esme seethes.
The thing about Esme is that she’s far, far from a moral person. And not only that, she’s also rude and argumentative and has some of the worst opinions ever. She also completely lacks any formal VFD training or morals a regular person normally has.
Which means, it’s very easy to be just as mean and caustic as her when Kit’s talking to her, and that somehow turns out to be oddly stress-relieving, in the midst of her even so stressful volunteering work. And that’s really the crust of the reason why she puts up with Esme at all - why she more than puts up with Esme sometimes.
Kit considers herself - maybe not a completely good person, but a person who has focus on the big, important goals, goals that will ultimately bring good. She knows she’s ruthless sometimes. Cold and calculated sometimes. But she really does have the bigger picture and the volunteers’ best interests in mind. To be such a person means that she’s noble, in general, but also requires a little bit of darkness and edge in her to do things needed to achieve the noble goals. It’s not a part of her that she likes to admit exists inside of her, not to anyone, maybe not even herself.
But with Esme - she feels like a little part of that sometimes get the chance to slip out in a safe manner, because it’s Esme, after all. Moral lacking and mean and selfish and too clever for her own good but probably will only use it for wrong. Esme. Kit knows Esme’ll be able to handle it, to take all the meanness, even thrives in having the chance to do this kind of back and forth.
And that’s why she puts up with Esme. That’s why she keeps putting up with Esme, that’s why she keeps their arrangement instead of breaking it off, why she continues to wake up on the same bed as Esme on Saturday mornings.
It’s a Friday night, now.
“R has the most beautiful guest rooms,” Kit says. “Perhaps something a fashion expert like yourself might be interested in admiring.”
At that, Esme starts laughing again, ease and confidence quickly building back up inside her. “Oh, Snicket,” she tuts. “That’s so unsubtle. But I suppose that can be forgiven, as I understand you desire me so, so very much.”

We can do this the easy way or the hard way (Loki, Darcy & Mobius one shot)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18+ blog: It is YOUR responsibility, as a reader, to think about the content that you consume at your own discretion.  ~
A/N: A thousand apologies for taking so long to get back on track with prompt requests from way back in October. I barely had time to spare and what time I did have, I was so tired from working constantly that my brain couldn't function long enough to string a few sentences together leading up and over Christmas. I hope this one will make up for it!
Also thank you anonymous for being so patient with me and I hope I achieved the Loki/Darcy dynamic up to your expectations 😉 x
(Prompt requests are still closed just finishing the last from October 2023)
Prompt requested by Anonymous on Tumblr: Just under the wire! I am part of a very select group that likes Loki X Darcy. Can you please write a story where Darcy messes up the timeline, and Loki has to interrogate her. She is sarcastic and obstinate, so Loki asks her to remove her jeans and panties (bonus point if he says panties ;) ), and he fingers her as he interrogates her. She doesn't make it easy for him. But she spills the beans. Please.
Summary: Darcy Lewis finds herself at the TVA, an organisation which up until now was unknown to her, yet everything turns from a simple arrest to full blown interrogation by the last person she'd expect to find in such a rule binding place as this. A trickster god whose methods are received with mixed emotions.
Warnings: Dom Loki, good cop/bad cop, vaginal fingering, rough sex and threats.
------------------------------
Loki struts confidently down the corridor of the now all so familiar TVA headquarters. Initially he found it strange to be working alongside the people who had brought him there in the first place after he had wandered off his own timeline. Although after the dose of harsh reality of what was awaiting for him on his timeline certainly played havoc with his thoughts and emotions, which required quite a bit of adjusting to everything. However that was some months ago now, or at the very least that's what Loki assumed, given the very important fact that time works differently within the TVA itself. Yet he has come a long way since that day he was brought in after he tried to take over New York with the Chitauri and tried to escape with the Tesseract. He might even say he felt a part of something now, a part of a team.
Loki soon approached Mobius who stood outside one of the interrogation rooms with his eyes looking down at a TVA file in his hands."So who do we have today?" Loki asks, as soon as he stood a small distance away from Mobius and he stuffed his hands into his TVA assigned trousers pockets.
Mobius closes the TVA file in his hands as he looks up to Loki before he speaks. "Today we have an Earth 616 Variant, a Miss Darcy Lewis." Mobius then hands the file over to Loki and he takes it right away, then he opens it up and begins to scan his eyes over the first page.
"Darcy Lewis, huh?" Loki says with an element of surprise and amusement as he flicks the page over.
"Yeah, crazy to think your brother's girlfriend's assistant steered so far off the timeline. I never expected her to do something like it...sure she's known for being only the assistant, but I mean give her credit where it's due." Mobius replied with a slight shake of his head.
"Hum." Loki replies thoughtfully before closing the file.
"I'll go in first...you know, ease her into what's going on." Mobius says, as he begins to walk over to the door to the interrogation room.
"Do you not trust me to go first?" Loki says, as Mobius puts his hand on the door handle. Loki feels a little offended by his choice of words and like a switch he came to conclusions quickly.
"No. Come on, you know me better than that by now. I only meant that given what she might remember about you and your past...so it might be for the best that I go in first." Mobius tries to reassure Loki with a calm voice with a hint of that playfulness they often have whenever they disagree with each other.
"Fine. You have five minutes before I come in." Loki huffs, not because he's admitting to defeat but rather he's actually trying to have some understanding. It's all still a work in progress for him.
Mobius wasted no more time before he entered the interrogation room with confidence. "Hello Miss Lewis, I am Agent Mobius." He announces as he made himself comfortable opposite Darcy, who was previously pulling at her light brown TVA prisoner jumpsuit on his way in, she seemed to be confused just like everyone else who came here. Although she also didn't seem completely uncomfortable in the oversized jumpsuit either.
"Well it seems like you already know me." Darcy commented, as she leaned across the table to shake his hand and having no need to introduce herself.
"It's my job, Miss Lewis." He replies with such gentleness, as their hands fall back to their sides.
"Darcy, please. Miss Lewis makes me sound like a single woman with no social life." As she explained herself Mobius' eyebrows furrowed together briefly, he knew she was single as it is in her file, but he was quick to shake his head and continue.
"Okay...well let's get started here then, Darcy. As I said my name is Mobius and I specialise in dangerous variants, but we have someone in training, shall we say? He will be here shortly and I am here to oversee him working. Before he joins us, do you have any questions?" His pleasantries seem unwavering and genuine too, which she has appreciation for.
"Why have I never heard of the TVA before? I mean I've met some aliens, an intelligent AI and a couple of gods within the past year. I would consider that quite crazy and yet this place takes the whole cake!" Darcy gestures around them as she speaks.
Mobius chuckles in amusement for a few seconds before speaking, "yeah I would agree it must feel like one crazy year for you." Next he grabs a can of Josta from the end of the table then holds it out to Darcy to take, she hesitates for a second, looking between the can of soda and at him. Eventually she accepts the can and cracks it open as he grabs a second can for himself. "The TVA was never in your orbit until now as you had always lived according to your timeline." He explains while opening his own can and then takes a sip.
Darcy stares at the now opened can in her hand before taking a sip herself then puts down the can next to her. "So the TVA is like some sort of time police force?" She asks mulls over his words with her gaze still down at her hand wrapped around the soda can.
However before Mobius could answer her the door behind him opens and as he looks over his shoulder Loki appears in the doorway. He gathered that Loki must have felt as though he had waited long enough, even though he would have preferred if he had spent longer time alone with Darcy first. The sudden disturbance caught Darcy's attention too, causing her to stand up abruptly as Loki strides into the room as the door closes behind him, her jaw hanging low whilst she points her finger at Loki in disbelief.
"Close your mouth dear, you're not a codfish." Loki says with a flat monotone voice, as he slowly comes to stand beside the table between Darcy and Mobuis, he proceeds to drop her file down onto the table before he stuffs his hands into his trouser pockets again.
"Woah, what the hell are you doing here!? I thought you were in some kind of dungeon or something!" Darcy says in a higher octave than normal, as she finds her voice once more, still believing her mind and eyes are playing tricks on her.
"Clearly I'm not." Loki replied with the same flat emotionless voice, appearing to have visible irritation etch on his features already.
"Loki." Mobius gently warns him to behave and in return Loki plasters on a fake smile in his direction to empathise he's not promising anything.
"Wait so he actually listens to you then?!" Darcy snuck back down in her chair while she looked between the pair, as if she can't believe that they seemed to have some sort of understanding, when she last saw Loki she would say he was far too deranged for such an exchange.
"Not-"
"I don't answer to anyone, love." Loki cuts Mobius off as he places his palms down flat on the table leaning closer towards Darcy with the intention of playing the bad cop. "I have always done what I want and will continue to do so, is that clear?"
"Ooo, I'm so scared." Darcy says sarcastically with an eye roll.
"And you and everyone else have honestly wondered why I loathed beings such as yourself." He scoffs right back.
"Can we just get back on track here, please?" Mobius says frustratedly, as he tugs on the back of Loki's jacket to try and get him to sit down, which Loki does when he's ready to. "Okay, so Darcy we would really appreciate your cooperation here." He adds once Loki is seated finally beside him.
------------------------------
Some time later Mobius is leaning forwards in his chair with slumped shoulders, resting his chin on the palm of his right hand, tired with the back and forth dispute between Loki and Darcy. The table they're sitting at is now littered with empty cans of Josta and empty takeout cups that once had tea inside. Pages and photos from out of Darcy's file are also scattered all over the table. Time seemingly has been feeling slow within the TVA.
"Look it's clear as day...it's you right there!" Loki argues whilst pointing at the now paused projection of a video file up on the wall to the right of him and left to Darcy.
"Nope, I don't see it!" Darcy says dismissively at the evidence for the thousandth time whilst she adjusts her glasses, causing Loki to run his hands down his face exasperatedly and sighs heavily.
Silence soon fills the room which momentarily made Mobius think he'd gone deaf and he started to frantically check his ears, luckily he detected the sound of his chair creaking slightly as he shifted on it, relief then washed over him when he realised that he hadn't lost his hearing. Albeit he decided this would be a good time as any to take a break.
"Right, you crazy kids behave yourselves, you especially Loki while I go to the bathroom and stretch my legs for a bit." Mobius says, the bones in his legs clicking as he stands up from his chair after being sat for far too long. Yet neither Loki or Darcy say a word as he leaves them alone.
Even after Mobius had walked out of the room Loki remained seated opposite Darcy, sitting there with his arms crossed while staring silently at her, making her feel so awkward she had to look elsewhere. At least until she couldn't stand it any longer.
"Quit looking at me like that!" Darcy snipped at him, making him get up suddenly and walk around the table and then he grabbed hold of her forearm to haul her up, his slim tall figure looming still above her even now she's stood up. "Get off!" She protests.
Loki placed his pointer finger of his free hand to her lips and hushed her. "For a little thing you certainly have a big mouth." His voice suddenly sounding deeper and his words sounding rough on the edges, his pointer finger slowly dragged her lower lip down as he removed it shortly afterwards, while his eyes are more piercing than they had been earlier.
"You're very judgy for a dude with a criminal record." Darcy says in her defense, while trying to ignore this electrifying atmosphere that seemingly appeared as if from nowhere. However as he doesn't have his magic in the TVA he couldn't actually silence her for longer and she's free to argue with him as much as she pleases. A thought which didn't settle too well with Loki, at first.
"And we can do this the easy way or the hard way..." Loki says only to be met with more stubbornness from her. "Take off your jumpsuit." He suddenly and unexpectedly says, making Darcy blink at him a few times and her eyebrows furrowed together, unsure if she heard correctly. "I said take it off." He repeats in a deep yet demanding way, as he lets up on his grip on her forearm.
"Why in the hell would I?" She says once she finds her voice again, albeit she wasn't going to do what he says so easily and willingly.
"You have no authority here, love, only I do. Seeing as it's just us now you have no choice, but to do as you're told, and we need that information about what happened to you on your timeline. We need to know why you took your little hiatus." His voice still deep and demanding, the bad cop really showing through now.
"So I have to take off my jumpsuit? That makes no sense." Her eyebrows furrowed together as she's lost on what he is initiating here.
"JUST TAKE IT OFF!" Loki yelled in a deep booming voice and Darcy actually flinched slightly from the sheer volume of his voice, not from being scared by him. She really isn't scared, after all she's heard Thor's stories about him. She'd get to talk to Thor mostly in the morning after his 'sleep overs' as he called it with Jane. His stories about Loki made him almost human in a way to her and since she's seen a lot, not a lot scares her anymore.
She then sighs heavily and it takes her several stubborn seconds longer than Loki would have liked before she began popping the press studs open on the jumpsuit. He watches her like a hawk even if she was doing what he had asked slowly. Although once the first few press studs popped open he saw her large bouncing breasts, as her black vest top beneath left very little to his imagination, the thin material allowed him to see that her bra under it was purple and flowery. However she hesitates as she finishes opening up her jumpsuit and looks up at Loki, as if in hope he was just messing with her, yet he just nods once for her to continue. She then proceeds to slowly remove her jumpsuit, taking her arms out first, next she slides it down all the way to her ankles. Then she steps out of it and ends up standing in her vest top bra and mismatched black knickers.
"Now what?" He hears her question, but takes his time looking up and down her shapely body first.
"Now? Now you have to take those panties off too and sit up here..." Loki says a moment later, as he swoops everything off the table then pats its now free surface for her to sit down on. Her appearance alone calmed his voice and demeanour somewhat.
"You're kidding right?" She laughs besides herself at how ridiculous it sounded.
"Oh I never joke about what happens between a man and a woman. I may have told lies and played a few tricks during my time, but never about this. No, this is something that deserves a different kind of treatment." His voice is deep yet silky now as he speaks, luring her into a more intimate setting, confusing her more. Unsureness of what game he is playing and her laughter dies too.
"You say you have authority here, but I think you're delusional to think I'm..."
"You've not had a boyfriend in over two years, yes?" He's quick to jump in before she can say anything more.
"Is that in my file too?" He smirks knowingly, the nerve of him and baffles her that her life is all written down in black and white, right down to every morsel detail.
"Let me take a guess...during such times with the added frustrations of being barely seen or heard no matter how hard you work at the end of the day you go home alone. At times it all becomes too much and you need some relief, relief that can come in different forms. One form in particular is one you could give to yourself, but preferred it be done by a man." He allows his words to be digested for a moment before speaking again, just this time in the form of a warning, "now take off your panties. I won't tell you again."
Oddly Darcy feels like what he said is not only true, because it really has been two years since she last had a boyfriend, but seemingly his words have an underline of mutual understanding of what it's like. It's like she can see it in his eyes, she can see that he knows what it's like to rarely be thanked or appreciated. A far different cry to Thor's stories and living through the aftermath of his attack on New York. Not long after noticing this, and having a dreading feeling that Loki might just take her knickers off himself, she goes ahead and takes them off too. A smirk curls up on his lips as he pats the bare surface of the table again for her to hop on top of. Without further quarreling Darcy hops up onto the table and looks away from him awkwardly again.
"You are not to look away from my eyes." He speaks in that deep silky demanding voice once more, as he hooks his fingers underneath her chin and makes her turn her attention backwards to himself. "Now then...let us begin." He adds as he roughly parts her legs.
"Hey, don't be so hasty!" She snipped once more.
Loki doesn't speak this time, but he gives her a look that leaves no more space for her to argue against him. The way he sees it it's her own doing as to why she's there and not living her life on her timeline, also the fact as he already graciously mentioned it's just the two of them now, therefore she has to do what she's told. Next thing Darcy realises that this is actually happening as she feels Loki's thumb brushing over her clit, at first just small brushes to get her juices to start flowing, until the brushes become firmer to increase lubrication. As soon as there's enough Loki then coats two of his fingers in her slick, spreading it around before roughing inserting both fingers into her, not considering her full preparation for the sudden intrusion. The precise way he begins fingering though is almost as if he's done this to her before, but he's never even gotten the opportunity to before now. Proving to her that he's that skilful he knows how to quickly play her like a well played instrument.
"Why did you do it, huh? What possessed you to take matters into your own hands? Why did you think it was a good idea to steal the Aether from the Collector's collection and conduct scientific tests?" He rapidly fires out questions, as the rhythm of his fingers sped up and intensifies, causing her to moan and tightly grasp onto his bicep and the scuff of his TVA jacket.
Given how long it has been for Darcy to feel a man's fingers knuckle deep inside her, her focus on his questions is hazy at best, the intense motion causes her toes to curl and her breath to quicken with each moan getting breathier by the second. However the longer he drills out questions and his fingers go in deeper to that sweet spot makes a shiver run down her spine and her moans only get exceedingly louder. Even her grasp on him tightens when the sounds of her sodden cunt becomes more apparent and his other hand squeezes her thigh that hard his fingers are bound to leave marks.
"Answer me, Darcy!" Loki's low timber voice eventually rumbles sharply in his chest whilst he pushes her towards the edge of orgasmic bliss. "Do not disobey me now, you hear me? Tell me what I need and you shall receive pleasure unlike before. Trust me I can do far more for you than this. I am a God after all." She has no doubts of his claims either at this rate.
"Alright...alright I'll tell you, but for the love of god let me cum!" Darcy pleads breathlessly, the tight knot within needing to explode.
"Ask nicely." He growls, as his fingers slow down their ministrations.
"Please-ah...Loki I need to cum so badly. Please?" She tries harder to appeal to his generous side, she hopes he will have at this moment in time.
Loki swiftly withdraws his fingers and hastily without any care about his fingers being soaked he undos his belt and trousers, then pulls them down along with his boxers, his fully erected cock springs free of their tight confinements before plundering into the depths of her mewling quim. His motivations unclear to her, but the sheer size of his godly cock she knew would ruin all other men for her.

Confidence Is Key- A Papa Secondo, One-Shot- Fan Fic
Tumblr media
Papa Secondo and Reader (Even though the the character name is Ann )
Summary: Sometimes confidence is key and sometimes it ends up with Secondo and Ann in an office... Doing stuff
Smutty.
Ps- This is the first smut smut that I've done so it wont be the best...
2.7k Words
Here I was at the ministry at 9:00pm waiting for my best friend to show up. Don't know what it was about her but she was always late even back in school every period she was late and one time she had classes beside each other and she managed to be 30 minutes late it didn't make sense. Papa Terzo was hosting his weekly Sunday party that filled what seemed the entire building up. People drinking, smoking and trying to do some very not so PG stuff. I stared around looking for Secondo my all time crush ever since he became papa but it seemed he was no where to be seen. That’s the only reason why I ever came and of course because of my friend…mostly..
I stared around the room trying to find V and soon enough she appeared though the crowd looking wonderful as always. “You made it” I said. “Oh gosh if I don't come Terzo may have my head and I simply don't have time for that” She laughed grabbing a drink off the tray. “I would kill to see that” I nudged her shoulder. I would tell her about the rum in the glasses but as her friend I thought it would be funnier to see. “Of course you would but you would also kill to see Secondo naked in which I am terrified that you will actually kill someone to see him naked” She said before downing her drink. “Why must he put rum in a champagne glass is he trying to get people drunk” She grumbled.
“That man is hot I don't know how you don't find him attractive he is literally a god and a god that I would love to fuck maybe marry not sure where I stand at that but he is a man and I love a man that is hot” I said looking over at her. As always she was now in her world not ever paying attention. Before I could grab her attention in the corner of my eye I saw him.
I looked over seeing him in his glory with his rob and full make up. I guess it was one of those parties but my god did he look as good as ever. “V its Secondo” I said to her still she was looking around in her own world. “Are you listening its secondo” I nudged her till she looked over at me then up at the balcony. “Talk to him then huh” She nudged me back. I took a chug of my drink my heart beating faster than I wanted it to. “And stop drinking the last thing you need is a drunk Ann talking to that whore of a man” she said reaching grabbing the glass out of my hand. “I'm not bad just a little bit out of control” I replied trying to take the glass back.
“No but go have fun with him or whatever I'm gonna go find Terzo god forbid this man is somewhere in the middle of this place dancing his life away” She said pushing me away into the pit of people I really didn't want to go through.
I huffed as I pushed my way through all the dancers. As I got to the middle it was mostly people making out and just standing still. The whole point of being in the middle is to dance not try to make a damn baby. What seemed like minutes I finally made my way through the lust and sweat of people. Wasn't that pretty to say the least.
“Ann” I heard the familiar voice. I looked up sure enough it was the one and only Secondo calling my name. “Wow you remembered what a shocker” I chuckled. As much as I sounded confident my heart was no longer apart of my body it ran away probably back into the pit of people. “You make it seem like I am forgetful” He said as he leaned onto the balcony “You always seemed to be one” I replied. Seriously have no idea how I was talking to him like this. We weren't like V and Terzo they were best friends. Secondo and I well we just ended up talking at parties that was all. “A shame you think that and a shame you think someone would forget someone like you Ann” He said the last part is a whisper that just was melting my legs. “Dully noted” I smiled as a person walked by with a tray of drinks. “Want one” I asked grabbing two of the tray. “Walk up darling” He pointed to the stairs behind him. So I did walking past another group of people was met with ghouls standing near the stairs. “Water” I nodded as he moved out the way. “Beautiful as always” He whispered as I walked past him. “Didn't take you for a flirt” I whispered. “Always was love” He replied.
“Why is it that every party you come with a different dress never seen the same one worn again” Secondo asked as I handed him his drink. “Oh c'mon the clergy asking you to party can’t dare to wear the same dress too many hot men'' I replied leaning up against the balcony. “Uh yes of course” He chuckled, leaning beside me. “What's with the fancy dressing and face paint” I asked staring at he beautiful make up he put on. I was seriously down for this man it was concerning and V was correct I would literally kill to get to this man.
“Father wanted so he said we needed to dress the best for the evening” He replied drinking from the glass. “But its Terzos party isn't Terzo the one who comes up with the dress code” I asked. “Father is weird and said we must be fancy so we dress fancy” He replied staring down at his outfit. I wonder how we would.. you know what never mind…
“You look good either way” I stared down at his outfit then back up at him. He stared at me with a small smile to his face. His eyes lowering down to my dress then up to my face. “I know I look amazing” I did some sort of pose that was failing miserably. “You do” Was all he said before drinking the rest of what was in the glass.
The music changed and only got louder words got out to the ghouls that they saw Terzo and V leave the building to go somewhere. Secondo wasn't the happiest that Terzo left his own party but what much could he do.
“How often does he piss you off” I asked. By now he was much closer to me then before. Since the music was so loud it only got harder to hear each other. “Often but he means well” He chuckled staring out into the crowd. “I must admit as much as I love your parties I prefer Terzo's” I wasn't lying but what I said secondo parties were always filled with more women then men finding men was like finding Waldo. “Oh my darling stabs me right to the heart” he groaned hitting his hand to his chest. “You know how hard it was to find a man like just a man was nearly impossible” I nudged him earning a laugh. “Yeah yeah” he whispered.
I stared into the dancing crowd seeing everyone just enjoying and having the time of their life. As much as there were hot men that I could hook up with the one beside me was really the only one I wanted as cheesy as it may be but the good news of the night was I was never his type and well for that he never thought of me as someone then just a friend at a party.
“What is on your mind darling” He asked. I could feel his eyes burning on me without having to look at him. “Figuring out who the hell im gonna sleep with tonight” I looked over at him a loud chuckle left his lips. Whatever I had drink was in more control then I was and truly could not care. “A question” I lean closer towards his ear. “A answer” He whispered. “How do you fuck someone in that” I ask. He looked down at his feet then up at the crowd. I have no idea what I was doing and I just might make an embarrassment out of myself. “Not as hard as you think” He whispered.
I couldn't help but look away from his eyes. As much as this drink was making me confident there was no control of the blush that covered my cheeks and him staring at him would only make things worse.”For someone so confident you dont looking me in the eyes” He whispered so close to my ear I could feel his hot breath. I turned my head staring right into his eyes. Only inches or closer then that. “For someone who is so confident and powdered your eyes so yet so soft”. Secondo was always known to be the tough guy and the scary one but his eyes told something much different. I looked away from him yet again my hearting beating faster then ever and a cold chill running down my spine.
As I his eyes burned into my skin. I watched people dancing away on the dance floor till one spotted my eye. The most annoying human ever to exist.
“Oh Christ its Gio” I huffed pushing myself up. “Gio” He asked looking up at me. “Come here” I grabbed the collar of his suit pulling him up towards me. I played with the collar of his suit while inching my body closer to him. “Gio is some dude who likes me so very much and I don't like him very much” I explained looking up at Secondo who was much taller than I was, “Your doing more than just trying to get him away” He whispered inching closer to my face. “No I wouldn't dare”.
I pulled him in closer sliding my hand down his chest down to his hips down to his thighs. “My friend Ann is up there” I heard Gio explain to Water or at least was trying to. “Yeahh she's busy my friend come back later” Water replied “Ann hiii” Was all I heard before the ghouls moved him away. As everything around us happened. There was one thing Secondo and I were good at and that was keep eye contact. “You ok” I asked hovering my hand over his hard that his suit would not hide. “You wouldn't dare” he mumbled. “Your right I wouldn't” I replied pulling away. “Good night Secondo” then I pulled my hand off him walking past him barley being able to walk down the stairs.
“Jesus Christ” I whispered to myself as I turned the hall. I had no idea what I just did and I was really gonna regret this tomorrow and I truly wish V was here at this moment. I rushed down the hall wanting to get away from the music and just people as much as the drinks were affecting me. I wasn't all that drunk and sober Ann was freaking out.
I walked into an empty room shutting the door before I paced back and fourth. Should have I just left, yes that would have been smart but at this moment I am not. “What did I do” I whispered taking a seat on the couch.
I sat on the couch thinking what I could say to him or V how would I explain what I did maybe V was right maybe I am out of control when I drink. All the thoughts stopped when a there was a knock on the door “yeah” I answered still sitting. The door opened and around the corner came Secondo. “Don't you have a balcony to attend” I asked. He stayed silent walking towards me. “Or don't answer at all” I chuckled.
He stood in front of me reaching his hand to my lips pulling on my lower lip. “Just gonna stand there” I asked standing up. “A creep really”. I walked past him leaning against the desk. He turned around watching me. “Nothing” I asked. It was getting weird.
He stepped closer closing the gap kissing my lips. I kissed him grabbing ahold of whatever part of clothing I could. “You wouldn't dare” He whispered between the kiss pushing me up onto the desk. Moans escape my lips as his bare hand slid up my thigh. His kissed my lips then my jaw towards my neck. His tongue slide down my neck towards my chest. “You wouldn't dare” I repeated. “Oh I would” he replied pushing my dress up pulling down the decent lace thinking no one would see it.
His lips went up back to my jaw then to lips more aggressive then before. The lust and sweat was now filling the room but this time it was just us and no one else. I lifted his robe placing my legs around his hips. “You say you can fuck in this” I whispered staring into his eyes that had now darken. “Show me”. Without hesitation he unzipped the second part of his suit realising his dick. “Of course you wouldn't wear anything else”.
I grabbed ahold of his hard stroking him ever so slowly. His head fell back small moans escaping. “Fuck me” I said pulling up my dress more. He kissed my lips bitting down on my bottom lip. With his on hand on my hip and the other on my thigh I felt him slowly slide in me. “Oh god” I moaned. “Fuck my love” He moaned placing his head between my neck as he thrusted into me slowly. “I'm not here for slow and careful” I whispered pulling him in by my legs. “Fucking hell’ He whispered his pace fastening.
“Oh god Sec” I moaned falling back onto the desk. He grabbed ahold of my neck as he his thrusts turned into pounds. The pencils and pens began to fall onto the desk as he got rougher. “Yes fuck” I moaned. “Jesus christ” he whispered kissing my chest up to my boob and sucking my skin. “Oh fuck” I moaned. I could feel him pulsing inside me and god I wanted all of him.. “God woman you- feel amazing” he barley got out. By now the entirety of the desk was shaking. I pushed myself back up barley pulling him close to my body as he slammed into my pussy his dick only feeling better by the minute.
“BOSS FATHER CALLING FOR A MEETING” We heard water yell from the other end of the door. “I- IN oh fuck” He whispered into my neck “ILL- B- BE THER- SOON -G- GO AW-AY” He could barley get out. “Oh god im gonna cum” He whispered his pace only fastening. “Cum in me” I whispered. “Fuck Ann” He moaned one last time.
As he slolwed down I felt the warm cum fill inside me his dick throbbing. “Ohh”I moaned almost feeling to cum. He soon fastened his pace holding my tightly onto my ass. ‘Oh god oh fuck” I moaned. “Cum for me” He said. “Oh oh god” I screamed feeling the release. “Ohhh” I moaned as he slowed down. “Good girl” he said as he pulled me up kissing his lips. “You are magic” He whispered as we kissed again. “A compliant” I laughed as he want onto his knees. We kept eye contact as he spread my legs licking my pussy filled with his and I’s cum. “Christ” I moaned throwing my head back. “You have black makeup all over you” he chuckled standing back up.
“You have red lipstick all over you and your makeup is smeared” I pointed to his face. “Wait for me my dear I have a meeting” he whispered as he fixed his clothes. “Mhm I’ll be waiting” I replied standing up fixing my dress. “Good” He whispered walking away. I grabbed ahold of his hand pulling him back into me kissing his lips. “Have a good meeting” I whispered letting go of his hand.
He chuckled turning around and walking out the office. Water and Omega stared at the door. “Gentlemen” He nodded walking past them. “Ann” They nodded walking away.
Holy shit.

Chapter 41 - Back Down to Earth
Steve was doing his best to make sure everyone had drinks, be it alcohol or something age appropriate, and stay in the background. The last thing he wanted was to be quizzed about his part in everything. The looks he had been getting from the Buckleys were bad enough once Robin had filled them in on the details Owens had left out about Starcourt. He’d also noticed several sets of eyes on the scar around his neck.
Max’s mom was the only adult without a glass of something in their hands, which Steve took as a very positive sign. His mom had taken over making sure the woman was alright and Max was glued to her mom’s side as well. Most people had wine or beer, but his dad had headed off any issues with Ted Wheeler by furnishing the man with the good Scotch.
So far Steve had managed to keep his distance from Dustin’s mom, mostly because Eddie hadn’t, and she’d almost squeezed the life out of him. Steve loved Claudia, she was a great mom and treated him like a second son a lot of the time, but he wasn’t sure how many grateful hugs he could take. Listening to their story retold, even without all the details, had dragged up a lot of memories. He would really have liked some quiet time to put everything back in its boxes in his head, but he couldn’t exactly just disappear.
All of the older members of the party seemed to be equally on edge, so they were all holding it together as a group. The kids seemed to all be dealing with it as well as they usually did, which was still amazing to Steve. El was even giving little demonstrations of her powers up close for various people.
It made his skin itch that he couldn’t make sure she wasn’t damaging herself while she did it. As if she knew what it was doing to him, she looked up and gave him a little smile after every time. She’d only had one tiny nosebleed so far because she wasn’t doing anything particularly hard, it was just the quantity that had set her off.
“You look like you’re about to vibrate out of your skin.”
Steve looked down to his side to find Erica was standing next to him.
“Yep,” he agreed, because there was no point in denying it. “How are you doing?”
“I’m too young to fully conceive of my own mortality,” Erica replied with her usual poise and confidence, “but I could use some ice cream.”
It was obvious she wasn’t quite as fine as she was making out, but he appreciated her efforts and the out she had given him.
“That I can do,” he replied. “Come on and you can pick from the flavours I have in the freezer.”
That earned him a genuine smile. They headed into the kitchen and then into the pantry where the chest freezer resided. He always kept the corner of it stocked with ice cream for just such moments of need and he pulled out the tubs Erica chose. Taking them back into the other room, he set about making her a sundae with the sauces he knew she loved.
“Is that ice cream?”
He looked over to find Mike standing in the doorway as he presented the concoction to Erica.
“It is,” he replied. “Care to set sail on an ocean of flavour with us?”
Mike was clearly as tense as the rest of them, but managed a smile at that.
“You’re not wearing the uniform,” he said, walking in fully, “and um, yeah, thanks.”
“I burned it. Pull up a stool,” Steve offered and headed back into the pantry because he knew he had Mike’s favourite flavour still in the freezer.
Somehow it seemed to be like one of Eddie’s magical summoning spells, because as he scooped ice cream, Dustin appeared. Then Lucas, then Max, then Will and El. Before he knew it, they were laughing and bickering and trying to steal spoonfuls from each other’s sundaes. Basically, they were acting like kids, and it made him smile.
“You guys are having ice cream without me?” Robin’s betrayed tones broke him out of his reverie.
“We would never, we saved you some,” he promised and held the bowl he had been about to tuck into out to her.
“Scoops Troop forever,” Erica and Dustin piped up as Robin crossed the room.
It was ice cream, it was kind of dumb, but Steve still had to pinch the bridge of his nose to push down his sudden desire to cry. It had been a very stressful day and that he could help the kids with something so small got to him. Robin bumped his hip, giving him a small smile as she read him perfectly as usual.
“Dustin, don’t you dare,” he said before Dustin could throw sprinkles at Lucas. “You make a mess you’re cleaning the whole kitchen.”
Dustin grumbled but put the shaker down.
“Tell me why I put up with this again,” he said to Robin, because it was just what he needed to prevent him embarrassing himself.
“Beats me,” Robin replied. “Pass the strawberry sauce.”
He did, picking up another spoon at the same time and helping himself to a spoonful of Robin’s sundae. Probably said a lot that she didn’t complain in the slightest.
~*~
Erica and Dustin were having a staring contest to see who could claim the last scoop of fudge ripple when Steve looked up and noticed there was a delegation in the doorway. Dustin’s mom, Erica’s mom and Mike’s mom were all huddled in the opening.
“Oh, hi,” he said as soon as he noticed them, “sorry, do you need the kids?”
“Oh, no,” Karen said, stepping into the room, “we were just wondering where they went.”
“Ice cream,” Dustin said with a grin and all but bounced over to his mom.
“Steve owes me ice cream for life, so I was cashing in,” Erica said.
“I do,” Steve agreed with a nod, “a deal is a deal.”
“That’s quite a deal,” Sue Sinclair said.
“Um, ah, Scoops,” Steve said, not quite sure how to explain it now he had opened his big mouth.
“Negotiations about ice cream are a good distraction when dealing with Russians,” Erica said, and Steve almost died of heart failure.
She hadn’t technically lied, but she had just covered for him with her mom.
“Everyone else is just crashing our party,” Erica added.
“It’s ice cream, of course we are,” Mike said, still nursing his bowl.
“I’m afraid we’re out of the most popular flavours,” Steve said, “but I do have some other ones in the freezer if you ladies are interested.”
“Thank you, Steve,” Claudia said with a smile, “but I have already eaten far too many of your mother’s lovely hors d'oeuvres.”
“And I have seen our kids with ice cream, and I like my limbs attached,” Sue added her own polite refusal.
“Mom,” Lucas complained as if he was mortally embarrassed.
“I’m not sure it’s quite the weather for ice cream yet,” Karen said, also smiling, “but I wouldn’t mind a coffee.”
“Oh, of course,” he replied, jumping into action.
He’d been so focused on the kids he had forgotten about making sure all the adults had drinks.
“Dingus, sit,” Robin said before he could get to the coffee machine, “you’ve been running after everyone all afternoon. I’ve got this.”
He went to protest since this was his house, so it was his responsibility, but Robin gave him a look. His protestations died on his tongue. When El linked her arm through his and dragged him towards the kitchen table he had no choice but to go. Apparently, he was being ganged up on. Erica gave him a small superior smile and the boys wisely chose not to comment lest they become targets as well.
“Can I have a hug?” El asked very seriously as she pulled him into a chair beside her.
“Of course,” he replied and opened his arms.
This had to have been so hard for her and he felt her relax as she wound her arms around him as he did the same for her. El was so strong and he would give her anything to help her stay that way. His instincts also kicked in the moment his arm overlaid the bare skin of hers and he was pretty sure she had instigated the hug for that very purpose. He congratulated himself on knowing what he was doing for once, even as he automatically checked her over, boosting her own healing just a little to make sure her nose was not sore. It barely took a thought given how well his abilities seemed to know her.
“I like your hugs,” El told him. “They make me feel safe, like my dad.”
“Well, I learned everything from my dad,” he replied, letting her get comfortable. “He is the best hugger I know.”
“I might barf,” Max said, but she was grinning broadly as she said it.
“If you want a hug too, all you have to do is ask,” he shot back, giving her the most innocent of smiles.
She scoffed at him as if that was the furthest thing from her mind, but he made a mental note to make sure Max got another hug before she went home. She was still the same brash, independent Max on the outside, but she needed all their support right now. The shadows of Vecna’s games were still in her eyes.
“Anyone else for coffee?” Robin asked as she handed a cup over to Mike’s mom.
“Me,” said a voice from the door.
Steve looked over to see Eddie hovering in the doorway.
“I’m beginning to get jittery,” Eddie added with a grin as if it was a joke.
“Won’t coffee make that worse?” Will asked with a thoughtful little frown.
“Nope,” Eddie replied, “weirdly the opposite actually.”
“Well, that makes sense then,” Dustin said.
“What does, faithful party member?” Eddie asked with his usual dramatic style.
“I was trying to work out why you keep failing to graduate but you can write a whole detailed DnD campaign in two days. Y’know to see if there was anything we could do to help,” Dustin replied, “and I mentioned it to Suzy. She thought you might have undiagnosed attention deficit disorder. One of her brothers has it and one of the signs can be that caffeine has the opposite effect that it’s supposed to. Would explain why you can’t concentrate for shit in class, because God some of those are boring, but get hyper fixated on things that actually interest you.”
It was all delivered in Dustin’s usual vaguely offhand tone as if he could have been talking about the weather. Eddie for his part just kind of stopped.
“That does sound surprisingly like me,” he eventually said, clearly surprised and also a little embarrassed.
“Dustin,” Steve said, “now might not have been a great time to bring that up.”
“What? Why?” Dustin asked, apparently genuinely confused by the gentle reprimand.
One day Steve was determined to teach his young friend to think before he opened his mouth.
“Nah, it’s okay,” Eddie said, recovering quickly, “something to think about at least. Better have that coffee soon then, or we might need Supergirl to get me down off the ceiling.”
“I would be glad to help,” El said, still snuggled up to Steve’s side.
“On it,” Robin said and the awkwardness in the room began to dissolve.
Steve saw the three mothers exchanging looks, clearly seeing the dynamic between their children in a new light. It wasn’t as if he could blame them. They had had a lot of information thrown at them and it must have rearranged their world view. Steve knew that feeling all too well, from afar and everything recently.
Eddie began to demand to try what was left of the ice cream, which helped remove the last vestiges of discomfort that remained. What Dustin had said made sense, even though Steve had never heard of attention deficit disorder. Eddie had one of the sharpest minds he knew, right up there with the kids, Nancy and Robin. That he had failed high school twice seemed more and more bizarre. He made a mental note to ask Dustin about it later and turned to Claudia, asking about a recipe they had talked about the last time he had been over to her house.
It was a nice neutral topic and he really did want to know what went into her tater tot casserole.

it's crazy impressive how much you write and how good it remains, holly and yew is good it has me tempted to venture into your other fandom just to be able to read the rest of your fiction, on top of that all the medical references are amazing and I can't wait for Harry to start his third year and do the research on the muggle/wizard medicine but the cherry on top for me is how well written are chapters from Tom's perspective, people (including me) usually shy away from his point of view because it's so intimidating to try do him justice and I love love those first twenty chapters and as far as I'm aware sometime in third year his perspective is gonna be back and I'm just so excited to discover everything that was going behind the scenes for the last two years and I know it's going to be the best, I really appreciate all the work you put into this story and how consistent it's been for past few months, it's definitely one of highlights of my week, also I had my bet that first kiss would happen when they're thirteen and last chapter had the hand kisses so that feels like win even though Harry isn't exactly thirteen yet
So sorry for this late reply Anon!
Thank you so much for your kind words about Holly & Yew and my writing! 💖💖💖 It made me so happy. I'm very glad you're enjoying all the medical references! It's a lot of fun to bring my interests from outside writing into the story, though I still have a lot to learn haha.
Tom's point of view was so much fun to write. I really enjoyed writing the interplay between Tom's usual dark, broody, sort of amoral self and his very pure and innocent love for Harry. I think I am not very good at writing children yet, but writing their childhood has made me feel a lot more confident writing them both now that they're older since I feel like I understand them both better.
Oh my goodness I am so excited to return to Tom's pov. We are only 8 chapters away, which sounds like a lot but has also totally snuck up on me.
Here is a little sneak peek of Tom's pov below the cut in thanks for your lovely ask! (Spoilers for H&Y ofc)

“Did you like it?” Macnair asked him, smirking as he gestured to the empty glass.
“It burned,” Tom said, playing the part of the innocent third-year.
Macnair barked a laugh, touching Tom’s shoulder. Tom wanted to break his hand.
“You’ll get used to it,” Macnair said condescendingly. “And then you’ll crave it.”
The party dissolved, slippered feet dispersing into the marble catacombs as they returned to their chambers. Abraxas wished him goodnight.
Tom gazed at his own emerald door for a long moment, an intense and heady satisfaction coming over him at the knowledge that Harry was tucked safe away in their room, ensconced inside the seamless lock and key of their magics.
Tom rested his hand across the door, feeling the wards part at his touch. The door slid open seamlessly.
“I’ve returned,” Tom announced, the tension within him unspooling.
“Welcome home,” Harry called from his desk.
And how sublime that utterance. Tom would never tire of it—what bliss to hear it every day for the rest of his life.

The Second Ever Date
Tumblr media
Cherry and Ashton where sitting in a small very hipster-ish café, it didn’t really match either of their aesthetics but it was a nice place. He placed his chin on his hand and smiled while sighing softly. “Heh, this must be a glitch in the system or something, right?” He chuckled, after taking a sip of his coffee adding to his twenty a day.
Cherry sipped a bit of her milkshake the strong chocolate taste filling her mouth and senses. “What do you mean?” She smiled at Ashton, making him feel like he could almost faint. Even with the simplest smallest thing he always felt a pang of loving pain in his heart.
But he quickly shook his head and looked down with a sigh before looking up again, an out of character serious expression on his face. “Well, you could date any of the other guys. The game ended so they should be fine, I think.” That last part he muttered not wanting her to think he was crazy.
Cherry stared at the floor before replying with a serious and, at least to Ashton, remorseful “No, I couldn't.” This was... disconcerting to the big lad and he panicked a little thinking back on his actions.
He grinned awkwardly at first his eyes darting around all over the place. “Why not ?” He asked his grin forming into a pants sh*tting look of terror. But luckily as soon as Cherry raised her face he quickly changed his own to be more casual in demeanour.
She sighed and grinned, shrugging slightly. “Well, cause I don’t like any of them half as much as I like you.” Just as Ashton raised his biscuit to his mouth he dropped it in surprise. Immediately after he sprung towards her almost knocking over the table in his joy. He quickly gripped her hands and held them tightly, as if he were to let go she would float away from him.
"M-May I kis..." He started so confident but quickly trailed off until it was but a mutter. He clutched his head in his hand starting to laugh, moreso in sheer awkward pain then anything else, "I thought I was ready. Well, I'm sorry for wasting your time, hon-"
Cherry leaned in, enrapturing Ashton’s lips in a short kiss which made his heart feel like it was exploding. "You could never waste my time, even if you tried." She got up to leave as they had already finished their drinks, but he had other plans and snuck up behind her to scoop her up into a bridal carry.
He quickly nuzzled into her face and neck before storming over to the till somehow getting his wallet while also holding her with just one arm. He poured his coins out before turning to leave again. "Keep the change! I know I will." He called back before turning to look down at her again and smiled leaning down to kiss her.

OMG!!!!!! I'M GENUINELY SO HAPPY FOR YOU RIGHT NOW!!!!!! 😭😭😭🤩🤩🤩🎉🎉🎉
I can't believe itttttt
❤️❤️❤️
P.S appreciate future Scotland love!🥰 and I swear I saw somewhere that H was a cricket/sports coach at their old school so maybe he was there in an official capacity??
*okay I've just this second watched it*
Am I crazy or does he sound SO POSH in this?!! 😧
Also he sounds soooooo apologetic! but like genuinely! (I think he knows he fucked up a little)
And he's looking forward to seeing you at WR next season and loves his presents 😭😭😭💕
And the fanpage!!! 🥺 *its clearly boosting his confidence*
When he started mentioning Italy and your own summer, I felt like I was intruding on a personal conversation between the two of you 😂😂😜😅
Omg I'm so so happy for you!!!!! 😭💕What a happy day! 🤩💕xxx
Everyone is so happy for me and my dad said I should be proud he took some bit of his time in Italy for me. I think what I love the most is the fact he really took care of it, he is calm alone in his room (you wonder who he kicked out of it to do this) he settled all and tries very hard not to forget any points of the brief.
I just cannot help to wonder what triggered it you know? So I feel a bit guilty you see? To have moved earth and sun to make him deliver it, it was my right to do so, but I'm scared I was at one point only interested in the result and along the way didn't care enough about the "how" I will get it but only the let me get it. A bit scared I have been too much "pushy" but he seems genuinely annoyed he made me wait this long so I will never know what messed up so bad?
Everyone mentioned "how sweet" that video is and "how cute" he is looking. His hair are growing up so I agree, also he is so close to the phone, a real film director at this point !
He sounds like a bit of formal and casual which looks exactly how we talked last time at Sale when he asked about my Christmas the way he asked about my summer?
I think he finally connected the dots because of the " see you AGAIN" x 2 so I think the connection is established in his mind with giftbag girl and the fanpage and video girl.
The mention of how he said he loved the content on the page, mentioning the videos??? I was like YOU ARE LOOKING AT IT not only stories looking uh ... "doing an amazing job with that " "very impressive" ( I love him, your honor ? ) it relieves me a lot ? The acknowledgment and the gratitude I just feel boosted that I'm not in the wrong? Or annoying him?
you are the third person telling me that at some points it feels really personal and makes the person watching uncomfortable as it is not for you to watch normally but happiness is made to be shared and I couldn't let you all have a look when you were all involved in the SAGA of jack video
I had a lot of laughs as the only thing I personally asked him to nail was my first name and it is a total fail.... twice...
the Bonjour he is enjoying himself too much saying it you can see it
and it is the only part I replayed a lot because it is so funny to me it makes me think to Beauty and the Beast and the moment Beauty is in the street and everyone is telling her BONJOUR haha
and the "in Welford road I assume" with deep voice I reply " you assume right"
Do I want to tattoo myself the "hope to see you there" and "looking forward to see you again" or something approaching as it is his first and last words to me ? YES?
in general the tone of his voice is so different from the usual very cosy and deep <3 the room adds a bit to the charm of intimacy and close-up on hands :D hehe so yeah it is really "special" not as I expected not better or worse just different ! ! So happy he mentions Belgium and the other charities and the personal support, no really he did super good and it is a lovely message !! so cute he mentions how he works super hard haha and enjoying the sun , he is my suuuuunshine my very sunshiiiine . Sorry a bit fangirling but !!! pffffiouuuu so relieved and did have a massive crycry in the train back home as the main character of a drama because it has been the climax of so many expectations/waits/doubts/fears and it was just too much in one shot? so yeah feel emptied from something and now achieving something new? just mission accomplished
I will look for Harry I think so because he is a lot featuring with their cricket account , and for Scotland I really will try but only during RWC
