“Here And There” Eragon x Reader
(A/N: Requested by the awesome @shewhobreathesfire for a clumsy Modern! Reader who has been made an ambassador for Alagaësia and sent out to Mount Arngor.
Warnings: Very minor angst. Mild language. Use of (Y/N).
Word Count: 1,706 words)
Ambassador of Alagaësia, appointed by Queen Nasuada herself, tasked with exchanging ideas of changes in the land through meetings with Mount Arngor’s leader, and follow protocol.
You found it all to be rushed decisions, really. Not that you would risk voicing that opinion out loud. You couldn’t afford to be foolish in that matter even if all of this was a new experience. You would rather live to tell the tale. Then again, you felt safer away from Alagaësia. From the endless list of laws and social norms.
Mount Arngor, or whichever of the handful of names you wished to call it, stood tall against a blue sky. Grassland stretched out all around it with water sources running close by. The new stronghold grew on one of the many peaks at the base of the mountain, looking extremely tiny in comparison.
At least you had found your way easily enough.
Roughly almost three weeks into walking in your new ambassador position left you questioning yourself. Not only in business matters, but how you were around others. Eragon in particular.
The Dragon Rider had evolved more than you imagined and exactly as you hoped. He had grown well as a leader, working within the community.
All out of Queen Nasuada’s reach. Or so you liked to tell yourself.
She would never see you running your foot into a table after Eragon complimented one of your suggestions for organizing storage. Unfortunately, a handful of dwarves and the other ambassador did. At least they never mentioned it.
I need to pull myself together, you thought as you descended the stairs. Went the wrong way again.
You could surely roll your eyes at yourself.
Barely a month and I have a crush on Eragon. Good job. Very predictable. Making a face, you continued on. Just more work for me. But is it really a new crush or from years of…
“Turned around?”
The sudden familiar voice and presence spooked you. A foot moving where it shouldn’t and you stumbled with a small gasp.
One hand reached out to steady yourself on the wall just as Eragon grabbed ahold of your other arm. His grip helped keep you on your feet and away from tumbling down stone steps.
A quiet curse left your lips as heat rose on your neck.
“Thank you,” you said, muscles remaining tense.
“You’re welcome.”
His hold disappeared once you found your footing.
What are the odds? At least I didn’t hurt myself this time. You exhaled slowly.
“Are you alright?” Eragon questioned, brown gaze trying to read your expression.
“Fine.”
Setting your sights forwards, you took the next steps down carefully.
“Just…questioning my navigation skills.” You added and then muttered. “And gravity, apparently.”
The Dragon Rider kept pace with you. Quiet only for a few moments.
“I’m relieved you’re alright. It would had been quite a fall.”
“Yeah,” you breathed out and finally relaxed as you found yourselves on flat stone.
Tapestries, lights, and rugs decorated the area. Much the same aesthetic as other sparse places in the grand building. They were truly making it into a home.
“Um.” You glanced over to Eragon. “Thank you again.”
“You’re welcome. Again,” he smiled.
His expression could had melted you on the spot.
“I hope you never find yourself in the same circumstance.”
“So do I.” Clasping your hands together, you took a step in another direction. “I’ll…be on my way.”
“All right. Take care.”
“Yup. You too.”
With a quick nod and smile, you scurried off. Your feet taking you anywhere but where you really wanted to be. For how could you spend more time with Eragon when your increasing feelings for him made your very being act out of sorts?
Great job, you thought sarcastically. You have officially turned into a clumsy, stumbling person under the title of ambassador. And always in front of him. Why? Am I doing a good job regardless? Maybe.
Eragon didn’t even know your full story of becoming an ambassador. You never got to the point, the beginning, of how you met Nasuada.
How would you even start the tale? Would he believe you?
Nasuada hardly did.
Yet look how far you had traveled since then.
Have you done all that Queen Nasuada had asked of you of your appointed position of ambassador? On paper, yes. In the way she probably wanted you to, nope.
There was only so much enthusiasm and professionalism you could show with the list she gave you to do.
Send updates? Sure, but you were living in a world where dragons, humans, Urgals, dwarves, and elves existed amongst others. There was so much to experience and a letter to the Queen wasn’t high on your list.
It’s weird how I got this job in the first place, you thought. If I met someone dressed odd, visually confused, and falling out of a portal then I’d keep them under observation and question them more than a few days rather than checking if they have magic. You sighed, your thoughts running off. Then again, I’m alive. Can’t complain there. Less danger here anyway.
* *
A calm, quiet night lightened any mood held with Mount Arngor. Groups of peoples talking beside a fire and others busied themselves with a personal hobby. It made the common area warm in more ways than one.
Sitting alone by a wall light was better than cooping yourself up in your room all night. You had been welcomed into a community after all, might as well see some of it. Plus you might see the handsome Dragon Rider.
All good things.
Your nose was buried in your notes and a focused curve framed your brow. You bothered no one. Content in your own task even without a desk.
Little did you know, that it intrigued a young man. One who decided to indulge in his curiosity.
Eragon took up a seat beside you. No pretenses. No greeting.
“Who’s language is that?” Eragon asked.
Your hand rose away from the parchment.
Awh, crap.
You scrambled to think of an answer that wouldn’t be a paragraph long explanation.
Peeking over from the corner of your eye, you answered, “Human.”
Perfect.
Eragon leaned over, entering your personal space.
Your eyes tracked his movements and you dared not move.
“I haven’t seen script as that before.”
“My handwriting isn’t that bad,” you joked lightly.
“What? No,” he sat back, “I didn’t mean—.” He paused once he saw your expression.
You smiled.
Narrowing his eyes playfully, he asked, “Do you have to write notes all day?”
“No. They’re mainly for me.” You gestured to the dried ink. “I don’t think Nas—uh. Queen Nasuada…. I don’t think she’d be interested in these notes. I hardly think she enjoys my letters.”
“Why would you think that?” He pressed, an edge of seriousness in his tone. “Does she not want to know everything you do here?”
Tilting your head back and forth a couple of times, you finally answered, “Because I was writing about the weather.”
Eyebrows rose, but Eragon said nothing.
“I’m serious.”
Studying you through his brown eyes was enough to make you a little self-conscious. In the very least, his gaze made you overly aware of the proximity between the pair of you.
“Why would you write about the weather?” His seriousness broke down into full perplexity.
“Because I’ve never visited a huge lonely mountain with a bunch of snow on top. What’s it like when it rains a lot? How many sets of stairs even are there? Can dough rise properly here? How are my sinuses doing lately? Important questions.”
A small smile curved the Rider’s lips.
He thinks this is funny or agrees? You wondered. So many darn questions. And he’s cute. GAH! Not now.
“You should see the mountain in the winter. The winds are strong and the cold bites.”
You hummed in thought, saying, “Perhaps I should inform her of the weather extensively.” You bit back a chuckle. “She kind of threw this job on me without much warning.”
“She trusts you.”
“That’s the thing.” You whispered. “She doesn’t know me well enough or long enough to trust me personally, but…I’m here as an ambassador and I have no idea if I’m doing it properly.”
A concerned frown crossed Eragon’s features.
You did not know where you were going with the conversation, but you needed to tell him something about yourself. Your situation. A hint of the truth.
“You’ve literally seen me trip over my own feet. I cross my fingers and hope I don’t fumble when addressing people, Eragon.”
“You’re new to the position. Not everything turns out as you expect.”
Exhaling, you glanced at your writing. More than simple notes of the weather.
“You’re doing well.” His words were soft. Genuine.
The words of encouragement sprung a lightness in your chest you could not acknowledge without tempting fate with a surge of clumsiness in yourself.
“Thank you, but…uh… I literally talk differently, spent well over a decade as a student, and I’m not from here. And yet she still sent me here.”
“What?”
“Exactly. What credibility do I have? Why me?”
Eragon turned in his seat to face you directly.
The change in his demeanor caused you to lose grip of your pen.
“Why does where you’re from matter about being named an ambassador?”
Immediately, you opened your mouth to respond with an answer about your true origins, however you said nothing. Mouth closed. You shrugged.
Eragon held your gaze in time of two breaths before speaking again.
“Is there something you can not tell me?”
“I’m not sure you’d believe me if I did, but,” you glanced over to where an Urgal sat down, “this place is very different from what I’m used to. Magic and all.”
“Will you tell me more about where you’re from one day? When you’re not writing about weather.”
“I might…if you help me find my pen.” You leaned over to check near your feet.
“Deal.” Eragon placed the pen atop of your notes.
“Thank you.”
“You’re always welcome, (Y/N).” His voice was warm, inviting.
A flutter in your stomach teased you.
Oh. Why’d he say my name LIKE THAT?
~~~
Best wishes and happy reading.)
Hello! I've started rereading the Eragon books because of the new book that came out, and I love him so much
So here are some Eragon x reader ideas you could do if you want:
Eragon and Dragon Rider reader meeting and being overjoyed at seeing another dragon/rider for the first time
Reader is undergoing the same transformation as Eragon at the Blood-Oath Celebration, she gets overwhelmed, and he comforts her
The two of them read each other's minds for the first time
Eragon falls out of love with Arya and in love with reader in a manner similar to Laurie, Jo and Amy from Little Women
(You don't have to do any of these, though, I just thought it'd be nice)
Oh man, I haven't written anything in ages, I really should! I have 3 fanfics currently waiting on me since like... 2021?
I'll have a think on these, thank you sm!
Murtagh Morzansson x Reader: Eerie
Word Count: 457 Warnings/Notes:  Established relationship, bed cuddles of reassurance Summary: The peculiar sound of the wind at night disturbs the Reader, they call for Murtagh’s comfort.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
  Waking up in the middle of the night was not a habit that you wanted to pick up on. At least not intentionally.   A sliver of blue moonlight stretched across the room from the gap in the curtains. Everything was still, and you were certain that it could not be too far into the night. All the more reason to settle back into the bed and go back to sleep.   With a final stretch, you could reach the cool parts of the bedsheets. However, you froze in-place. The wind outside howled most peculiarly. A chill ran up your spine and you curled into yourself. Sleep, unfortunately, slipped further from your grasp.   As you looked over your shoulder, it appeared as though Murtagh had yet to join you in bed for the night. You did not want to bother him if he was busying himself with something important. Even if that important thing was a leisurely read or speaking with Thorn.
  When the wind whistled by the window, you changed your mind. “Murtagh?” You called out to softly to be even remotely heard from across the room, much less the house.   Again, the wind howled. And again you called out to him, a little louder than before.   As his name finished leaving your lips, Murtagh walked into the bedroom. Swiftly, he came upon your side of the bed. “What’s troubling you?” He asked, concern etching his brows as he looked over your current arrangement.   As if answering for you, the wind blew immensely. The suddenness of the sound sent you under the blanket in a blink of an eye.   “I’ll be right back,” he assured, his hand finding one of your shoulders. “I need to put a few things away first.”   He left the room as quietly as he had entered it. By the time he was crawling into bed, you scarcely thought that he had left in the first place.   “Did you run?” You asked in your bewildered curiosity.   “No,” he said, snuggling up with you. “Was I too fast?”   “Not at all,” you replied, pressing yourself into him upon the next gust of wind.   His arms wound their way around you in a lovingly protective embrace. “The wind can’t harm you here,” he murmured, kissing the top of your head.   “It’s the sound,” you shuddered. “It’s eerie and unsettling. I’m none too fond of it.”   “Then listen not to it. Ignore its jests for your attention, it so highly seeks.”   Gently, his hand cradled your head to his chest where upon you heard a faint rhythmic thump. As your focus was adjusted to him, the wind became less noticeable. In a matter of minutes, you were lulled to sleep by the comforting sound of Murtagh’s heart.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
Thank you for reading! Be sure to check out my Masterlist for more fanfictions :)
The war was over. Malbonte was defeated. You are not classified as an angel or a demon. You were the first stabilizer(balanced). You do not realize that Eragon is watching you intently during the celebrations. If you knew what he was thinking, you would run far away from him.
hey my beautiful anons and non anons :) just a reminder because i think there’s some new people coming into the blog, im not an overly consistent writer. you can send in requests whenever, but there is no guarantee they will be answered, nor will they have a time limit.
my schedule used to be a post every couple of months, now my aimed schedule is to post at least once every two weeks. writing can be emotionally taxing, carving out characters and plot, building tension correctly etc.. if i did it in a rush, with no strained thinking about what my words meant and how they carried themselves, it wouldn’t feel like my writing.
i love waking up and seeing anons in my inbox, if i never write your request, do not take it personal , i promise i see you and i do not judge the request :) (unless it is very much fucked up) (which i can’t imagine my anons would be, you guys are lovely). you are more than welcome just to pop in and say hi, or tell me about your day. as much as this is a page for fan fiction mostly. if there is nowhere for you to go, i will always respond.
anyway, if some of you aren’t aware, i do write for multiple fandoms. some aren’t on my masterlist because i haven’t written anything about them yet.
fandoms i’m in are:
FNAF
Bridgerton/Queen Charlotte
Harry Potter
resident evil
detroit become human
wee bit of marvel
"Eragonson" Eragon x Fem!Reader
(A/N: Requested by Anon. Thank you for your cute request of Eragon and Reader having a newborn son. I really hope you like it. Warnings: Minor angst. Fluff. Word Count: 1,143 words)
New life and changes were important. Each moment could lead to a new experience and expanding knowledge.
The tiny new being in Eragon’s life brought in more love.
Time had seemingly gone by faster. Almost dreamlike for the Dragon Rider.
It had almost been a full week since a son was born. Yours and Eragon’s little joy in a world with dragons and magic. A new human still getting used to the sounds of the world around him; among other senses.
For the time being, he hadn’t been carried out of the living area much. He was much too young.
That was fine by Eragon. It was easier to keep an eye on him and you. Yet the Rider was still nervous holding his infant son, especially if he had to walk across the room. A bundle of gurgles so precious and delicate in his arms. He felt the weight of responsibility each day.
What always shook Eragon from his thoughts?
A dirty diaper. Oh, what a blessing and a curse those cloths were for a multitude of reasons.
Eragon Shadeslayer was almost always on diaper duty. It was the least he could do. It didn’t take nearly as long to clean and change the infant as it used to. Practice and learning came hand in hand. He just learned how to hold his breath longer, much to the amusement to both you and Saphira.
It was an action needed and in the end he did not mind; not when his son gave a small smile. He sweared that his heart grew with each one.
“You’re all smelly,” Eragon would tell the smiling infant. “Do you know your little bottom smells? You might need a bath.”
Eragon hoped he was doing all right. He hoped you both were good enough parents. There weren’t any examples nearby to study. But you had each other. He had you.
You, his brave, intelligent, strong, and beautiful partner were recovering. No tasks for you. No straining yourself. There was only taking care of your own needs, your healthy baby boy, and making sure Eragon had encouragement. He and Saphira could handle the rest, including caring for you when needed.
“I’m so proud of you,” said Eragon, half in a daze as he watched you cuddle your infant to your chest.
“You keep saying that.”
“Because it’s true. You’re so strong.” His brown eyes looked to the baby. “He’s strong because of you.”
Your recovery would take time as would the baby’s growth to support his own head. As was life.
With all of the happiness came new fear.
The Dragon Rider and his dragon had become even more protective than prior to the birth of your son. An Eragonson. You were in no condition to fight off any attack if one had managed to get close enough.
What about a ward against sickness? Eragon inquired to Saphira.
There are many in multiple forms. Do you wish to stop them all? It would use too much energy.
Eragon scratched at his hand absentmindedly. You’re right. What about detection? Being able to detect a sickness off of clothing could be helpful. He suggested to which Saphira mulled it over.
It may very well be useful for others as well.
We can check more of what we bring in. He added, satisfied with the idea. Mentally, he grouped it with the few that could be used within reason.
Ignoring the parchment on his desk, Eragon sat back in his chair.
He could have trouble with the stairs when he starts walking, Eragon thought. Would adding—
“Eragon,” you called softly, interrupting them.
You just knew the pair were talking, it was a skill you picked up.
“Yes?” He turned in the seat.
“Can you hold him, please?” You asked and used your chin to gesture to the infant grabbing at your clothes. “I need to go.”
“Oh.”
Moving swiftly, Eragon made his way to the bed near Saphira’s nest. He sat down slowly as to not jostle you and the baby.
Gently passing your son to Eragon, you said, “I’ll be right back. Give your father some love.”
The infant had a strong grasp of your clothes that impressed the Rider as he delicately freed you to leave. A small complaint left the baby.
“It’s me,” Eragon cooed. “I’ve been way over there working.” He cradled his son to his chest.
“Ah.”
“I know. It’s not much fun.” He chuckled to himself.
Holding his son, Eragon recognized the paternal instincts within him. Something still so new and powerful.
With a light touch, he swept the fine hair on the baby’s head to the side.
His son reacted by grabbing for the Rider’s index finger, to which was allowed. All tiny fingers grasping around one of Eragon’s.
The sight took hold of his very being.
This is real, Eragon thought to himself. He’s here.
After many months of waiting and preparing, Eragon was a father. A parent growing a family with you.
My family.
Beside him, Saphira craned her neck to level a large gleaming eye to see the infant.
One day you shall be chasing him through these halls, Saphira spoke warmly in Eragon’s mind.
I want to show him the crops we harvest. He might want to play in them. He smiled at the image.
“Uhhoo.”
“Would you play in the mud after the summer rains?” Eragon asked playfully to the attentive baby who was pointing at Saphira.
I would certainly tear apart a forest for the tiny one.
Let’s hope it never comes to that. Eragon thought back to when he had hurt his hand so many years ago and she had reacted similarly, but much fiercer in the moment.
How time went by in a blink of an eye.
At sounds of soft padding on the floor, Eragon glanced up to see you smiling.
“What?”
“It makes me so very happy to see my family.” You begun walking over. “You’re very handsome between a gorgeous dragon and the cutest baby, you know.”
A long chuckle vibrated through him.
“I was wondering where your laugh went,” you sat down on the bed.
“What do you mean?”
They know, little one.
“Some of the wards you set up before you leave the room are very powerful, Eragon. Some tickle the air.”
“Do they bother you?”
“No.” You kissed his shoulder. “But if you worry so much, you’ll miss out on what’s right in front of you. Who is right in front of you and needing you to be a father.”
Sighing, he looked to his son who was wiggling at the sound of your voice.
Their words are wise. Saphira blinked as she too watched the infant.
I know.
“You’re right.”
“I know.” You smirked and lightly poked your baby’s tummy.
Curious hands reached for you. Just like his father.
The red assassin part 2
Tumblr media
I sit on the sandy beach waiting for my fish to finish cooking the sounds of the fire crackling mix’s with the gentle sloshing of the waves, my mind drifting off to thoughts of a certain one eyed prince. The plains of his face, sharp cheekbones, broad shoulders are beautiful lo..
Loud snoring breaks my day dream. Aurelius the lazy dragon he is shifts in his sleep, purring almost in his sleep. Content with his full belly of fish and wild boar, currently making a very good wind shield as hes curled behind me.
It's been almost five days since my visit to the Targaryens. I truly expected something by now either in the form of a messenger or an army, I will say I was hoping for the first but was prepared for the later.
“I'm sure you were”. Aurelius speaks, an eye now cracked up gageing my reaction.
“Your being real cheeky lately”
“And you've been day dreaming since that night don't tell me the mighty red assassin has finally found someone who catches her eye.” I simply flick sand at him, to which he just laughs
“So what if i have, you must at admit i picked an interesting one. Really that whole family is interesting”
“But they are also dangerous little ones,I don't want anything to happen to you.”
I know but allying ourselves with them for now could open a lot of doors for us, especially for you. Relius I want you to be able to have better things: actual meals, armor, somewhere safe for you to nest if you wish, you know the works.
“Scarlet.”
“No Aurelius I want better for us i'm tired of always being on the move
“No SCARLET!!”. Aurelius says with force his head now lifted to the sky. I now hear the roar in the distance. Aurelius swiftly stands haunches raised a low growl falling from his clenched jaw as we wait for the source of the sound to come into eye line
Vhagars giant form breaks through the clouds, the blond silver of her rider's hair reflecting in the sun behind them as they ascend toward the abandoned beach.
Aemonds pov
After the meeting with the girl, I've thought of nothing else. Grandfather's network of informants tried all they could to learn more about the crimson haired assassin, all coming up with nothing but tails of her triumphs. My favorite being the one of her taking out a group of bandits that was terrorizing a small farm town, kidnapping a girl to do gods know what to do if lady scarlet hadn’t intervened. Every story and praise for her filled my thoughts as brightly as her rose colored hair. She was a beautiful enigma, a puzzle waiting to be solved. Once the decisions had been made I plotted the course and took off as soon as possible wanting to bring the girl back to king's landing no matter what.
Scarlets pov
The second prince and his dragon landed on the far side of the beach the ground thudding as Vhagars giant form comes into contact with sand, creating a cloud around her and her rider. I see Aurelius step forward ready for anything but i motion him to stay back as i start making my way to the half way point between the prince and I.
Meeting him I can’t help but take him in. His beautiful hair and fine leather coat swaying in the sea breeze behind him. Looking as regal as he could instead of like he just road a days time to get here.
“What an honor it is for the prince himself to come calling on me i expected a simple messenger from your sister.”
‘A mere messenger could not be trusted to negotiate these very important terms”
“And you believe you can my prince”
“Why of course my lady.”
“Confident aren't you”
Aemond simply smirks his head tilting and pale blue/lavender eye filling with merriment and mischief.
“I won't deny it my lady im proud of my heritage, of my accomplishments
“I would be careful my prince A proud person could end up falling
“True but i hopeful this won't be the case for i'm here to offer you a deal
“A deal then you all have agreed to the terms i left behind.”
“Yes however we have conditions of our own.”
“And what would those conditions entail my prince?”
“It’s quite simple my lady. We wish to tie you to our family to ensure you and your dragon stay on our side.”
“And how do you all think you’ll accomplish this.?
“Well you are lucky indeed since you have several options to chose from.
“Oh?”
“Yes”
Aemond begins stalking around me as he speaks, his voice sounding like its everywhere, gaze burning into ease gages my reaction to his words.
“Originally the counsel simply wanted to kill you, but the king my sister, uncle and I all disagreed. Instead. We thought you would make an excellent addition to our court”
“Oh i left that much of an impression?”
“You did indeed”
“And how is it they wish to add a no name assassin to the royal court?”
“Well you would either be adopted by a trusted member of the court and given a title,”
“And if I didn’t want to be used as a pawn in some up incoming family’s chess game to get closer to the royal family then what
“I wasn’t finished my lady, as I was saying you can come be adopted and not only be a noble with your own dragon that has never been seen outside of my bloodline. You would also have access to. All the amenities for your dragon, and you would also become the fiancé of a royal.”
“Now. That info turned my head abruptly turning to face aemond as he was still circling around me. He has a calculated smirk on his face before shifting and bowing before me.on knee raised before taking out his sword and laying it at my feet.
“Call me selfish if you wish but I am the one who proposed this stipulation, after all the tales I've heard of your exploits, of helping the people. Of Westeros, no if i'm truthful it's been ever since thee night you ambushed the diner, you're all i've thought about.”
I'm frozen staring at the blonde. His eyes holding me captive in my place. My heart is ringing in my ear.
“Having you by my side i would consider a gift from the new gods and the old
“But you barely know me. In fact you should wish harm to me for threatening your brother”
‘What you did is nothing that Aegon didnt have coming to him for his actions i assure you i myself have threatened him multiple times.”
What if I don't wish to be your betrothed”
“Then you would simply be adopted by. My sister Rhaenyra an join our house that way until i can change your mind, either way i win.”
I look over aemonds shoulder straight at Aurelius, his voice filling my mind quickly. “Don’t not base any decisions on me, little one. We dragons are adaptable. I will follow you anywhere.”
It feels like time stops the waves still crashing around us before i taking a deep breath and look back at the prince before me.
“Ok my prince ill will come to court with you however i wish to be courted before jumping head first into a marriage.
The one eyed prince smiles his violet blue eye sparkling as he rises to his feet offering his hand out to me. I place mine in his as brings it up to his mouth. His lips planting a lingering kiss.
“That can be more than arranged my lady, please return to. Kings landing in three days time and we will welcome you and your dragon like royalty.”
“Very well but I want some guarantees first.”
“Hmm”
“You swear on your family my dragon will be cared for.”
“Yes
“Well we wills for i don't want Aurelius with the rest of he dragons in the dragon pit. I would never forgive myself if something happened to him because I choose to trust the wrong people.
“I understand my lady, they’re are cliffs with ample caves the dragons like to burrow in when not in the dragon pit, we will get one cleaned out and your dragon will be able to freely come an go as long as you can guarantee he will not attack the castle the people of kings landing”
“The only reason he would do anything would be if i where in danger. You all mean to take good care of me though dont you
“Especially so.”
“Fine then I swear as long as you uphold your end i will mine”
“Good well then my lady i bid you a good bye, there’s much to be done to prepare for your arrival”
Aemon flashes me a grin before. Bowing his head at me one last time and making the truck back towards vhagars slumbering form. A pep in his step as I watch in disbelief of what all just happened, but I guess I have three days to figure it all out.
A/N: Hey there everyone! ^^ I hope you enjoyed so far! If you are a little confused, here is my small note: this is a work that is a crossover with marvel and my favorite fantasy book series The Inheritance Cycle from Christopher Paolini! If you haven't read the book, I do recommend it! I can't wait for the live action series!
Tumblr media
The night has fallen down bringing cold winds run along the corridors of the Asgardian palace. Everyone was already asleep in their bedchambers however two little kids were still running around with a shrieking baby dragon in their tracks.
You visited again to Asgard after your master let you take a few months break from your Rider training. You were the youngest Rider amongst the others who were already reaching adulthood. You knew they would never try anything because well, you were the princess of Du Weldenwarden but you still felt on edge amongst them. Here with your friends and Loki you felt free and happy.
You ran down the corridor to the royal library, your favorite spot in the palace while Loki tried to follow you with Srunugr who could now fly with his small but strong wings. A voice in your head tried to stop you as it whined.
'(Nameeeeeee)!!!! Stop! I... too slow!' you heard the little dragon's voice in your head making you stop in your tracks. He never said anything before except your name. These were his first real words.
'Srunugr? Did you just talk?' you asked turning around and facing the baby dragon and a confused Loki. He looked at you concerned as he watched you eye the dragon without a word.
'Why would I not?' asked Srunugr confused.
'How long do you know how to speak?' you asked putting your hands on your hips.
'Saphira elda teach me listen you speak. She say I can learn' answered the dragon landing on the marble floor and galloping to you before placing his two paws/legs on your knees and leaning on them to get closer to your height.
'What are you doing? (Name)?' asked Loki shaking your shoulder with one hand. You looked up at him with sparkling eyes and smiled at him widely.
'Srunugr finally started speaking!' you shrieked with happiness. Loki's eyes widened at that and his smile grew with yours before he started speaking to the both of you telepathically. That night went with hide-and-seek in the library and sharing stories about your nations. You lied on your back facing the high ceiling above you Loki on your left side in the same position. He was silent since a long time and you were worried if he fell asleep so you turned your head to see his profile in this glorious peace. You turned completely towards him but he didn't notice you moving as you stared at him in pure wonder.
He was like a painting and you just wanted to touch him high cheekbones. Loki turned to you suddenly making you jump in surprise and you blushed your heart racing in your chest.
'What are you looking at?' he asked concerned. You just stared at him for a few seconds before the words left your lips quietly.
'You're beautiful' you said making him blush but you had to shoo away the moment by adding: 'Like a princess.'
Loki's face became crimson red in embarrassment before he shoved you back hard and started the wrestling you were usually ending up everytime you hanged out with him alone. Somehow Frigga always knew that the two of you were fighting as this time and scolded both of you. It only brought wide smiles on your faces and you and Loki just kept laughing at it in your chambers when he sneaked in and slept next to you in your bed.
You jolted into a sitting position in your bed, cold sweat covering your skin and making your hair stick to your forehead. You took deep and sharp breathes while you tried to calm yourself down. You dreamt about your childhood spent here, in Asgard since the night you first fell in bed in your chambers.
You looked around and slowly calmed down processing where you were. Maids hurried inside your door looking at you worriedly.
'Are you alright, my lady?' asked one of them with blonde curly hair, blue-grey eyes and pointed nose. She wore the usual maid clothes and had clothes in her hands.
'I don't need assistance at dressing up... I can do it myself.' you said not wanting to see any of them the scars you received from the war. You didn't want to frighten these young maidens.
'But, my lady...' she tried to protest.
'Please' you shook your head. She walked up to you and placed the clothes on your bed before she left with the other two maids closing the door and bringing silence into your chambers. You sat in bed in the same position for a while until you felt like you could move. You got out of bed and grabbed the clothes eying them. It was an Asgardian green gown, with golden metal accessories attached to the fabric. You shook your head before sighing in defeat and took your night gown off leaving it on the floor and walking to your bathroom. You filled the tab and climbed in. After a long bath you dried yourself off and went back to your bedchambers to change into the gown you got. To your surprise Lady Sif was standing in your room waiting for you. Her long brown hair was still fastened into a ponytail on the top of her head while she wore her leather and metal armor. Her eyes widened at your bare form and a slight pink hue appeared on her cheeks.
'My princess, I was tasked to escort you to the dining hall' she announced. You quirked an eyebrow and chuckled at her face.
'Sif, you shouldn't call me princess! To you, I am always a friend' you smiled at her before embracing her in a tight hug making her blush more because you were still bare.
'(Name), would you please put on something already?' she asked embarrassed. You chuckled again before taking on your undergarments and turning to Sif with the gown in your hands.
'Would you help me?' you asked. She rolled her eyes but helped you put on your gown. 'How are you?'
'Excellent' she replied smiling politely. You furrowed your eyebrows.
'Something's bothering you... what is it?' you asked.
'There is nothing bothering me, (Name)' she shook her head but you just narrowed your eyes at her. Sif sighed defeated and answered you. 'I saw your scars... they are from a war. That is why you disappeared all those years ago?'
You looked down on your feet searching for the right words to not tell her too much but tell her enough. She was your friend and you always told her about everything. You trusted her... but the secret you were hiding was bigger than any trust you built up with her. You knew at some point you would have to talk about it and you wanted to try out the words before you would go to Odin. You looked back up at her and smiled sadly.
'Yes... my queen asked me to go back to my home to join the Alagaësian forces. A neighboring kingdom, the realm of the dead, The'odangäte decided to attack us with their half-dead soldiers. The frightening thing was that no matter how deadly you wounded them they just kept walking towards you and if you couldn't avoid them or stick your sword in their head they chewed down the skin and meat from your bones while you could only cry for death to take you finally.' you said burning fire in your eyes as you thought back how your friends on the battlefield fell. 'But the soulless king of the kingdom sent soulless soldiers, his elite forces. The few of us who survived the first wave of the attackers had to face the cruelest, most ruthless warriors. One of them, a half blind one with a scar running along his left eye was the one who stabbed Srunugr in the heart. After the war... my king locked me up in a cell because my mother wanted to leave the throne to me and not him. I would've let him get the throne anyway... but I saw how he cannot fulfill a ruler's duties. I escaped and came here to find protection for as long as I gather the power to go back and fight him.'
You watched the warrior woman's mouth open in utter shock. You always called Arya queen instead of mother... after the fight you had with her. She kept your true origin from you telling you that Vraë was your father. Vraë always hate you and scolded you for everything. You couldn't do anything to please him and when you saw your queen interact with your master you realized why. Sif changed the subject as you followed her out to the dining hall but all you could think about was the fight you had with Arya and the truth. You still were deep in your thoughts when someone poked you in the shoulder. You jumped in surprise and snapped your head to the intruder of your thoughts.
'(Name)... were you even listening?' asked Sif furrowing her eyebrows at you. You sighed heavily and shook your head.
'I'm sorry, Sif... sometimes I go back to the past unconsciously... and stuck in my memories...' you smiled sadly. 'If you excuse me...' you stood up from the table and left the dining hall not noticing the way the royal couple looked at you worriedly. The only thing you could think was to go to Loki. You needed him even if he refused to accept the fact that you were alive. He thought it was all some kind of game of the All-Father as punishment and you wanted to tell him how wrong he was.
You hurried down the corridors straight for the dungeons. The guards at the doors let you in not asking who you were or why you wanted to enter. As you walked towards his cell you felt someone else's presence behind you. You turned around sharp and saw Thor walking to you.
'I wish not to be rude, my friend, but I wish to speak with Loki alone' you said coldly.
'(Name), you are my friend and you know you can trust me. I know that something's bothering you... tell me what it is and I may be of help' he stopped in front of you with pleading sky blue eyes looking into your eyes.
'Oh, Thor... I know that well... but you would be the one who would lose your trust in me if I would to tell you the truth' you shook your head smiling sadly. Thor cupped your cheeks with worried eyes looking deep into yours.
'You are like a sister to me... there is nothing you could do to lose my trust' he replied trying to reassure you. You patted his arm before pulling away from him.
'One day, I will tell you, I promise this... right now, I have to repair the relationship I had with Loki' you turned around and this time the blonde didn't follow you. You walked along the rows of cells while ignoring the sounds the prisoners made in the cell. They were disgusting, filthy creatures who needed punishment and they didn't worth even your glance. You kept a cold and hard expression on your face while you strode down the right row to his cell.
When you reached it you saw Loki lying on his back on his bed one arm propped under his head while the other kept a book above his face. He looked... adult. His legs were long and he was tall even as a teenager when you last saw him but... now he had miles long legs, a well-built body, his shoulders broad and his arms strong. You could see that he had an iron grip and his strength radiated from him. You smirked before you spoke up.
'You are still as beautiful as a princess' your voice echoed through the area because all around him the cells were empty to not let him manipulate the other prisoners into dumb decisions. You saw his body tense up and he slowly sat up in his bed putting the book away on the nightstand. You waited for him to answer while he got out of bed and walked to the comfortable armchair by the barrier.
'And you still are an actor' his deep voice filled the air around you.
'You are still not looking farther than your nose...' you shook your head disappointedly. 'Test me, and you will see who I really am.'
'Who you really are? I expected you to say something as "that you are the real (Name)"' quirked an eyebrow as he crossed his legs and arms looking at you. Your mouth twitched slightly holding back the quiet laughter you were about to let out.
'I told you... war changes us. I am no longer the person you knew but I am the one you knew once' you answered calmly. It always irked him when you could keep your cool in every situation. It was somehow frightening to some. Loki's expression changed for a second into curiosity but changed back into the blank mask he wore.
'Let's suppose that I believe you' started Loki while unwrapped his arms, reaching out for a green apple on the table he had next to him. 'Why should I want to know you? Want to see you?'
'Because you still love me' you answered showing certainty when you were all but certain about it. You wanted him to still love you because all those years all you did was crave for him. You needed him to still love you because he was the only one you could trust as much as you did.
Suddenly his hand stopped in midair with the apple in his grip his face snapping to you his blue eyes glaring daggers in your skull. Anger was clear on his face and a cold pain gripped your heart.
'YOU LEFT ME THERE! YOU LEFT ME WHEN ALL I ASKED FOR YOU WAS TO STAY! YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE I COULD HAVE FOUND THE PLACE WHERE NO ONE COULD REACH ME! YOU WERE EVERYTHING TO ME AND YOU LEFT. ME. THERE!' he shouted at you tears in his eyes.
'YES, I LEFT YOU BEHIND BECAUSE I HAD DUTIES TOWARDS MY HOME! I AM WELL AWARE OF THE FACT THAT IF I HAVE STAYED HERE I WOULDN'T HAVE TO ENDURE THE LOSS OF SRUNUGR OR MY MOTHER! I WAS LOCKED UP FOR TWO HUNDRED YEARS BECAUSE I AM JUST A BASTARD OF MY MOTHER'S!' you shouted back angrily at yourself. You were angry because if you would've refused to go back that night, you would've saved Srunugr and maybe Loki. Your anger contorted face surprised Loki and you felt the tears rolling down on your cheeks.
'What?' he asked quietly processing what you just said. You couldn't help but jump back to the memory.
Flashback~
You walked down the corridor of the palace of Elleméra on a sunny day. You were called back from the headquarters of the new academy of Riders for an official case. Arya wished to teach you the aspects of ruling so you had to go back to the elven capital. This time your master, Eragon-elda accompanied you which surprised you but didn't say a word because he was like your father.
You were about to join the council of elves on an important matter that day when you crossed the corridor to the room of your mother's and accidently peaked in her room. You froze at the sight and didn't want to believe your eyes. Arya stood with her back to you, her long raven black hair falling free while she was grabbing at Eragon's linen shirt pulling his face close to her. His hands on her waist supporting himself. You felt betrayed. You knew Arya wasn't at the best terms with Vraë but this was something you never expected your mother would ever do. You didn't realize your lips part and your voice leave your throat until they turned to you frightened.
'Mother?' you asked quietly concerned of what you just saw.
'(Name)...' gasped shocked Arya hurrying to you.
'Are... you seeing each other? Behind father's back?' you asked still not processing the meaning of this.
'I... Yes...' she nodded but you saw the look on your master's face. He was... sad. You furrowed your eyebrows at his expression.
'There's more to it... isn't there?' you asked cautiously.
'I think it's time to tell her the truth, Arya' looked Eragon to the elven queen who just kept looking at you. You looked at her furrowing your eyebrows.
'What truth?' you asked as she closed her eyes.
'Vraë is not your father' whispered Arya her expression growing sad and regretting.
'Don't tell me that...' you pointed at your master in utter shock before looking at him. You snapped to the mirror you could see yourself in and noticed the similarity immediately. Your nose, your ears and your chin... it all looked like Eragon's. However your eye and hair color was different you were still similar to him. 'Everything was true... they said I must be related to you, master... they said I was treated differently... was I?'
'I never treated you differently, (Name). Yes, you're my daughter but that doesn't mea-' he started.
'You lied to me! All of you! How could you?! Why?!' you shouted angrily tears pricking at your eyes. You turned around and ran out of the room even if you heard their voices crying out after you but you didn't care. You just ran and ran until you reached Srunugr who were in the dragon barns. He asked you what was wrong but you only told him to fly to the portal to go to Asgard.
End of flashback~
Someone shook you by your shoulders wildly when you finally woke from your memories. You looked around frightened and saw Loki's cell... but from the inside. You were inside his cell, in his arms. You gasped surprised and looked into the blue eyes you wanted to look in for so many years.
'(Name), (Name)... are you with me?' he asked concerned. It was genuine concern as he searched for something in your face.
'Y-yes...' you choked out shaking like a leaf. 'I'm so sorry, Loki... I should've stayed... I should've become your queen' you whispered crying into his chest as he held you tight to his torso.
'We share the same destiny' he smiled sadly down at you. 'They need to blame someone to right their wrongs.'
'Help me, Loki... and you will be a king... my king' you replied quietly hugging him tightly.
'Tell me what to do and you will get it the moment it left your lips' he pulled away a little to look into your eyes. He said the truth. He was genuine about it and you smiled up at him happily cupping his cheeks.
'You are the only thing I want' you whispered your heart pounding in your chest. Somewhere you knew you were insane partially but you knew Loki would be the best partner for you. He was just as mad as you.
'I thought you dead for so long... I am not going to let you go this time' he said before pulling you into his body pressing his lips to yours in a hungry kiss.
To be continued...
Murtagh Morzansson x Reader: The Scare
Word Count: 420 Warnings: Fluff? Summary: Dragon playdate and Murtagh pretends like he got hurt.
~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~  ~~~~
  The surrounding air was filled with laughter. Each playful step and bounce of your dragon and Thorn shook the ground beneath you. It was a great feeling to take some well-deserved time away from responsibilities. While the Riders, elves, and others were otherwise occupied or sticking their noses up at such a thought, Murtagh and yourself had quickly found yourselves jumping and running around in the open field with your dragons.    Your dragon swung their tail at Thorn, hardly making an audible thud. However, the red dragon fell to his side in mock pain, jaw open and letting out small grumbles. As his long tail waved around in his writhing, it flicked over at Murtagh, knocking him over. The initial impact did not appear harmful. As you observed him, however, he struggled, arms shaking as he tried to push himself off of the ground.    Your chest tightened at the sight. “Murtagh!” You cried out as you rushed to his side. All you could hear was your own heart pounding in your ears and your panicked breath. By the time you were kneeling beside him, another sound reached your ears. Laughter.
   “Murtagh!” You gawked in utter dismay, pushing him onto his back. A pout replaced your shock and you promptly slapped him square on the chest. “You scared me!”    “I didn’t…mean to scare you…that much,” he gasped for breath through his bright smile.    With his laugh lessening, you kissed his cheek. “I’m glad to see you enjoying yourself. Even though it was at my own expense, you big oaf!”    Murtagh’s eyebrows shot up. “An oaf!” He exclaimed, making the both of you go into a fit of laughter.    You squealed out when he gave your waist a squeeze.    “An oaf, am I?”    You found yourself being rolled over into the grass with nothing but Murtagh filling your senses. “No. You’re not an oaf!”    Bodies quaking in your self-made hilarity, your cheeks screamed in soreness as your smile broadened from his actions.    He held you a little tighter, his arms wrapping around your form. With your arms over his shoulders, you rubbed his back in response. Likewise, the gentle kiss he pressed to your collarbone made you feel like you could have melted into the grass.    “I love you,” he said, his voice calmer and controlled.    Sliding your hand up into his hair, you guided his face down closer to your own. “I know,” you replied with a quiet laugh and kissed him sweetly, “and I love you.”
