Whole thing on A03
It didn't matter how much Steve explained. Not one member of the Party was going to get it.
Tommy and Carol would, but then, they were no longer on speaking terms. A fact that hurt even if it was for the best--particularly in times like these, because they got it.
They understood how he had been ensnared with the very same wealth people mocked him for. What it meant when his parents demanded Steve drop everything and go on vacation, his own plans be damned.
They knew, because their families had done much the same, and so the lives they led also were tethered to leashes made of their parents' design.
Dustin, whose mother bent over backwards to try and better her kid’s life, didn’t even have a frame of reference for this kind of thing, let alone sympathy.
"Do they not understand you have a job?" Dustin asked incredulously, and Steve didn't have the emotional bandwidth to explain that his parents didn't consider working at Family Video to be a real job.
As far as they were concerned, Steve could quit if he had to, and then go find another job when they were done using him to play the nice, All-American family.
Likely for business purposes.
"They aren't the type to care." Steve said instead.
It was easier than getting into it.
(Easier than explaining the BMW wasn't in his name, but his parents.
How his money went into a bank account they had access to.
That practically everything he owned was actually owned by Richard and Stella Harrington, and both were quick to remind him of that fact the second they felt Steve was acting out of line.
And boy, had he been acting out of line.
 Getting into fights.
Turning their punishment of working a job they picked specifically for the humiliating outfit, into the far worse public embarrassment of being involved in a mall fire--an embarrassment because Steve had "lost" the keys to the BMW, had "put himself in danger" playing hero instead of letting the perfectly capable firefighters do it, then “paraded around” with bruises all over his face, racking up medical bills.
Truly a sin for someone who hadn’t made it into college.)
So no, this vacation they demanded Steve drop everything for  was not anything close to a reward, or even something they were doing to spend time together. There was a reason they needed Steve, and as far as they were concerned, Steve was at their beck and call until he shaped up and got his life back on track.
His own plans be damned.
"That's not fair though!" Dustin burst out and Steve sighed in relief, because here at least, he knew what to do to distract his younger friend.
 “We planned our trip months ago!” Dustin continued, looking two seconds away from giving in and stomping his foot.
The kid might have been smarter than Steve--smarter than most people really--by a hell of a lot, but he was still fourteen.
Smarts, Steve knew, didn't exactly equate to emotional intelligence, and it definitely didn't stop rampaging hormones.
Ice cream on the other hand, was a great aid in both areas.
"You better be making this up to us." Dustin threatened thirty minutes later, spoon wedged deep into a sundae. “We can’t do, like, half the stuff we were going to do without you!”
“I'm sure you guys didn’t need me to play ghost runners or whatever.” Steve said, but was quick to back down when Dustin nearly threw his spoon at him.
Rather than antagonizing him more, Steve dutifully raised his hand to put over his heart. "I swear on your mom that I’ll make it up to you.”
Dustin rolled his eyes, but otherwise, finally, let the whole thing go.
Stupidly, Steve thought this meant the worst was over.
He was wrong.
xXx
Mike hadn’t cared.
El and Will hadn’t really either, though both expressed some sadness that Steve wouldn’t be participating in the camping trip that the Party as a whole had been looking forward to for the past few months.
Erica had simply snapped at him, making him promise much the same as Dustin had that he would be making it up to her sometime in the future. Likewise, she had been bought off by ice cream (even if she insisted it didn’t count because Steve owed her ice cream anyways.)
Max was the surprising emotional standout.
"You can't tell them no?" She demanded, arms crossed over her chest.
Lucas was hovering awkwardly at her shoulder, shooting "what can you do?" vibes as hard as he could at Steve as his (currently on-again) girlfriend outright dressed the elder boy down; her shoulders creeping up higher and higher until she seemed to realize she was visually giving away her upset and forcibly relaxed them.
Unlike Dustin and Erica, her tirade was very out of character and Steve was growing more concerned by the second that something was wrong the more she spat at him.
“I mean for fucks sake, didn’t you tell them you had plans!?” She finished, eyes narrowed in rage.
Which was rich coming from someone whose stepdad had Billy Hargrove running all over town before he’d run off after the guy’s death, but then, Steve knew better than to bring all that up.
(The image of Max, unresponsive in the hospital with casts on almost every limb, was still too fresh.
Even now he didn’t like to push her, even if the Party as a whole did their best to take notice when one of them was isolating themselves again.
Max, though she was down to one crutch, was still inclined to use it as a weapon and very much enjoyed practicing her swings on people’s ankles.)
“I did indeed. They don’t care and they’re not giving me a choice, but for what it’s worth I am sorry.” Steve tried to keep his voice even and out of angry-shrieking range, and vaguely prayed it was working. “I swear, I will make it up to you guys, even if we have to go on a second camping trip.”
This was clearly not the correct thing to say.
Though judging by the murderous rage being aimed his way, Steve was pretty sure nothing short of “You know what you’re right, let me go tell my parents to fuck off!” would make Max happy.
“So you’re seriously just going to drop everything, all our plans, your job, us,” She took a very threatening step forward and despite her being a full foot shorter than him, Steve had to fight not to take a responding step back. “So you can go play rich boy in the Bahamas?”
“We’re not going to the Bahamas--” Steve tried, but was interrupted with a loud “ugh!” of disapproval.
“Whatever makes you happy, Steven.” Max spat, and then turned on her heel, storming off towards the rest of the Party (who had taken one look at Max’s face and fled into the arcade so she and Steve could “talk.”) “I’m sorry us peasants weren’t good enough to hang around!”
“Sorry man.” Lucas apologized quietly, on his way to run after Max.
Steve just scrubbed a hand through his hair and sighed.
xXx
“The kids are mad at you.” Nancy announced, appearing across the Family Video counter like a phantom.
Steve swore, nearly dropping his stack of VHS’s, while Robin (who had clearly seen Nancy approach) cackled at his fumble.
“Yeah, I did get that memo.” Steve said, after he stabilized his stack, safely moving them from his arms to the counter.
Nancy peered around them, her face giving away nothing. “It is kind of shitty to cancel at the last minute like that. We were relying on you to drive.”
An old fury shook itself awake in Steve’s chest, taking an interest in the conversation the second Steve realized what Nancy was here to do.
He took a deep, shuddering breath, and pressed it down, back into the box he’d slammed it in all those years ago.
“I’d leave the keys to Robin here, but unfortunately, someone failed their drivers test.” Steve said instead, jamming his finger over his shoulder and blatantly attempting to pass the buck.
Robin, who absolutely knew that was what he was doing, faked a gasp and kicked at his ankles.
“That crotchety asshole failed me on purpose!” She protested, spinning to face Nancy. “He made like, three misogynistic comments before we even got in the car!”
“Pointing out that he knew the car wasn’t yours wasn’t misogynistic, he was just surprised to see me letting you use the Beemer.” Steve shot back, rolling his eyes. “I don’t exactly let a lot of people drive it.”
Unspoken was that Steve’s BMW was one of the town’s more unique cars, and thus easily identifiable by the locals at large.
“How is that better!?” Robin returned, but Nancy cleared her throat before they could successfully get the Steve-and-Robin show on the road.
“The point is that we--but really, the kids, were counting on you.” Nancy said, dipping into her patented “I’m upset with you” tone.
A year ago it would have cut Steve to the bone, even if he didn’t show it.
Now he just stared tiredly at her back.
“I’m sorry, Nance, but it is what it is.” He said simply, hoping the apology (even if he knew it wasn’t so much a real apology as it was something he said to keep the rage from breaking out and wrecking havoc via his mouth) would soften his ex. “I don’t know what else to tell you.”
Given the abrupt narrowing of her eyes, it very much did not help his case.
“For someone who was so vocal about trying to change I have to say this is pretty disappointing.” Nancy said simply, but with just enough of a tone that Steve had to close his eyes for a second.
Feel the way that old anger, the one that had powered King Steve, hit the bars of its cage.
Robin stilled immediately next to him, her head ping-ponging between Steve and Nancy both as she too, clocked that Nancy was pissed, and here to chew Steve out about it.
“Um.” She said, voice going high in discomfort.
Steve grit his teeth. “I don’t exactly get a say in these things, Nancy. You know that.”
He had to work to keep his voice even, fighting against the ice that wanted to sharpen his own tone.
It was just---Nancy did know.
Steve had told her all those years ago, in the safety of her arms, about his parents' expectations. Their predetermined path, the way they dictated large swathes of his life.
How they’d allowed him to pick which sports he played, but required that he play a sport no matter the time of year.
That the pool they had installed wasn’t for him, he just got to use it as much as he did in part because he’d joined the swim team, and the kind of mental mind games he and his parents played about things like that.
Apparently either Nancy had forgotten, or simply hadn’t taken it in to begin with because she wasn’t backing down.
(Not that Steve had ever seen Nancy Wheeler back down.)
“I know you have trouble juggling your parents' plans with your own.” Nancy said, and her tone was absolutely icy now. “I certainly remember waiting for a date that never happened.”
Steve sucked in a breath through his teeth, knowing immediately what Nancy was referring to.
“I told you they came home unexpectedly.” He said, arms now crossed against his chest, nails digging into his arms as a way to help himself stay grounded. “They wouldn’t let me use the phone until the next day and I apologized.”
“And I recall having a lovely conversation with your mother where she said otherwise.” Nancy said, her words punctuated by another high pitched “Uhhhh.” from Robin.
“Funny how you believe my mom over me.” Steve said and whoops, yup, he definitely sounded mad now.
So much for all the effort he’d put in to staying calm.
“Because I look at actions, Steve. Patterns. The same ones you kept repeating.” Nancy was clearly about to escalate, and Robin, bless her, had had enough.
“He-eeey.” She said, wedging herself in between Steve and the counter Nancy was starting to lean over. “I totally get it, you’re both upset, but this maybe isn’t the venue to fight about it? There are customers in the store and--sorry Nancy--but I do kinda need Steve for work, so…”
She trailed off, glancing nervously between the two of them.
Nancy took a breath, blasting it out of her mouth like an academically inclined dragon. “You’re right. I’m sorry Robin.”
She then turned on her heel, making her way to the doors. She paused before them, and Steve prepared himself because he knew whatever she was going to say next, it was going to hurt.
“I wouldn’t care if it was just me, Steve, but the kids don’t deserve you pulling this shit. Not after all they’ve been through.” With that, Nancy pushed through the door, head held high as she stormed to her car.
As was typical for Nancy’s aim, she scored a direct hit.
Steve, somehow, resisted throwing things.
“Can you believe her!?” He said, the second the doors were closed and Nancy safely out of eyeshot. “Coming in here like that!?”
He ran his hand through his hair, once, twice.
A third time for good measure.
“Yeah, that was seriously public for her.” Robin agreed, sliding up next to him. “Like really public.”
Steve shrugged, because well. Not really.
Not anymore.
But Robin didn’t know that, just like Robin wasn’t entirely familiar with the depths Steve’s parents went to save face. They hadn’t exactly had time to really dig into it all, given how fast the Vecna situation had hit after Starcourt and the sheer PTSD both incidents had caused.
Most nights they spent together was spent trying to avoid reliving nightmares, not discussing ones they were currently still living in.
A fact that Steve was more than happy to bring her up to speed on, but to do so involved a lot of backstory, and backstory involved Nancy, and God, he was fucking pissed at Nancy.
Soon it was an hour into his rant and he hadn’t actually gotten around to the sheer level of shit his parents would pull, too busy with Nancy and old echoes of ‘bullshit.’
 He only stopped when Robin put a hand on his shoulder, shaking him ever so slightly.
“Dingus. You know I love you, and I know you’ve changed, but you do gotta admit, canceling at the last minute is kinda shitty and I get why they’re upset.”
It was like the carpet had been pulled right out from under Steve, yanked so quickly he’d have to pinwheel to keep his feet.
“What?” He said, eyes round in sheer surprise.
“I just mean like, I get your parents are dicks but,” Robin’s face screwed up, looking like she’d sucked a lemon. It was her “I’m going to say something you don’t like face” and it hit Steve like a punch to the gut.
“Our shift’s almost over and no offense, you’ve started to repeat yourself about Nance, and I get it! I do, memory shit is hard!” Robin’s hands moved as she talked, her bracelets jingling as if punctuating her point.
“But I also think admitting you double booked yourself on accident and just taking responsibility for it would help smooth things over. Middle ground, you know?” Robin waggled her hands in a gesture that, for the first time in a long time, Steve didn’t understand.
He found himself suddenly struggling to breathe.
“Are you--are you saying you think I didn’t tell them I had a trip already planned?”
Steve wasn’t sure how he managed to get it out. Wasn’t sure how he was doing anything, given the heat that was shooting through him, a hot mix of confusion and betrayal as Robin fidgeted to his left.
“No! Okay well,” The lemon face got worse for a second. “I’m just saying you did kinda forget to pick me up that one time, and you do kinda blame your parents when stuff like that happens.” She bit a nail, peering at him out of the corner of her eyes.
“I don’t--” Steve said, completely knocked adrift. “I…”
Robin didn’t believe him.
His Robin.
Who wasn’t--wasn’t exactly siding with Nancy, but wasn’t saying she was wrong either, or that she understood that this shit was out of his control, and in fact, was kind of implying that Nancy was right more so than Steve was and---and--
There was a ringing in Steve’s ears he wasn’t sure actually existed.
“I’m sure a lot of it is your brain injury. The doctors said your short term memory can take a while to fully come back and I totally get why you don’t wanna say that, I just, I think it would be better if--Steve?” Robin jumped back as Steve finally found his footing, swiping his jacket and punching out before she could catch how badly his hands were shaking.
“I’m leaving.” Steve told her, his own words a million miles away, entirely uncaring if Keith fired him.
Keith was likely going to fire him anyway, given Steve was about to ask for a week-long vacation not even four months after the whole Vecna ordeal.
“Wait, Steve, hey--Dingus! I wasn’t done, I mean, I had more to say I, dammit Steve--!” Robin called after him frantically as Steve bolted for the door.
Steve ignored her, aiming for the Beemer and swinging himself numbly into the driver's seat when he got it open.
Put the car in park and avoided Robin’s face entirely as he backed it out, punching the gas far harder than he needed to.
The Beemer roared in response, nose rising as it shot forward.
Robin was his best friend. His fucking--platonic soulmate, as she kept calling him. The very idea that she agreed with Nancy in general was a blow but in this?
Against his parents?
Nausea rolled angrily in Steve’s stomach, matching the sudden wetness that coated his eyes.
Angry and needing an outlet, Steve stomped hard on the gas, taking the next corner far too sharp and making the beemer fishtail, tires squealing .
He didn’t know where he was going.
He figured he’d find out when he got there.
xXx
Given what Steve knew about the universe at large, (nevermind Hawkins) it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to hang around the Quarry at night.
But then, summer was in full swing. Kids were home from college and itching to find a place to party without parental overhead.
Deep to the left side of the water, around a few bends and tucked oh so neatly out of sight, was a place where one could do just that.
Party.
This stretch had long been claimed by the college kids of Hawkins, and guarded zealously for it.
With the sheer number of drunk people whooping and hollering around the bonfires below the ridge where everyone parked their cars, Steve figured he was safe enough.
Even if he was up with said cars, sitting alone.
Not like it mattered. If a demodog or demogorgan or demo-fucking-dragon decided to come along, Steve had half a mind to just let it have him.
It felt easier than trying to fix the current mess his life was in.
So he sat up here, blowing through the alcohol he’d purchased from the one gas station that never carded, drinking his problems away.
(That also wasn’t the best course of action but with his parents home to spring the whole “vacation” ordeal on him, it wasn’t like Steve had a choice.)
He hadn’t grabbed a lot--had been so damn upset and struggling to hide it that he’d picked up a four pack of wine coolers instead of the intended beer he’d wanted. It was all he had though, and so he chugged the last bottle with a wince and wished he was a hell of a lot drunker than he felt.
Then promptly caught sight of the person walking towards him, and wondered vaguely if he was drunker than he felt.
Of all the people to come and offer him a can of beer, Steve would have never expected Tommy Hagan.
He eyed it and his old friend both, before slowly reaching out and taking the can.
“Heard you and your parents are doing CoHo this year.” Tommy said casually, leaning up against the front of the Beemer like it was old times.
“Yup.” Steve replied, drawing the word out.
“Angie Tideman’s parents are going, they’re bringing her ith .” Tommy said it casually, and had the good graces not to grin when Steve audibly groaned.
“Oh god.”
Tommy sucked on a lip, nodding absently. “Yeah.”
Then; “It gets worse.”
Steve, who now knew what this conversation was about, instantly began tearing into the beer can. “How can it get worse? You know what Angie’s like.”
Angie, whose full name was Angelina, lived a few towns over. Born to wealthy parents who doted on their beloved only child, Angie had more in common with your average shark than she did her fellow humans.
A comparison that, frankly, was unkind to sharks.
She was without a doubt the most selfish person Steve had ever had the misfortune of encountering, and the mere idea of being trapped in a room with her made his skin crawl.
Their parents were business buddies though, and god forbid he ever insult a business buddies kid,
“She goes to Purdue, you know, with me and Carol.” Tommy said, instead of answering directly. “We cross paths a lot, party wise.”
Steve stayed silent.
Knew how Tommy talked, how his stories meandered. Especially the juicy ones.
“She’s been talking a lot recently. Given you don’t look all that informed, I’m gonna assume the one person she hasn’t talked to is you.”
Steve gripped the can of beer, a sudden, sick fear blooming in his gut.
“Tommy.” He said mildly, not loud enough to really interrupt, but with enough force to let his former friend know to get to the point, now.
“Got all super fancy right before we left for summer break. Hair done, whole new wardrobe, nails, you know.” Tommy waggled his fingers playfully, but dropped them when Steve just stared. “Went full whore on us. I swear she was making out with any guy who even looked at her--”
“Tommy.” He repeated, this time a hell of a lot firmer.
Done pushing, Tommy let go of the proverbial bombshell. “Apparently you’re planning on proposing to her this summer. She’s gonna return next year as an engaged woman, with you in tow, because apparently, you got into Purdue. Congrats by the way.”
Tommy clapped him on the shoulder, right as Steve’s mouth went dry.
For the second time that day, he found himself fighting the burning heat of embarrassment and fury as it rolled through him.
“I’m proposing.” Steve said, as if saying it out loud would scare the very idea away. “To Angie.”
“Yeah we kinda figured you didn’t know.” Tommy said with a snide little grin. To the average outsider it was mocking, but Steve knew better.
Tommy was uncomfortable, because Tommy had understood what Steve’s parents had done.
“What I’d like to know is just how much Angie’s parents paid to get you into Purdue. That’s gotta be a minimum fifty thousand dollar donation at least.” Tommy removed his hand, to instead lean his shoulder against Steve’s. Like this was the old times, before they’d fought. “ I didn’t think they had that kind of money to throw around.”
A past conversation with his father struck Steve, running through the front of his mind like a bad horror movie.
“They sold the estate.” Steve said vacantly, the implications not quite hitting. “The one they’ve been trying to get rid of forever, over in Cape Cod.”
“Oh shit.” Tommy said, blinking as he too, recalled what was likely his father telling him the very same news.
“They sold the place on Cape Cod, and they used part of the funds to fucking buy me like a toy.” And yeah, saying it out loud, it definitely sounded bad. “I didn’t think Angie even liked me.”
“Does Angie like anyone?” Tommy asked, incredulously, but nudged Steve’s shoulder again when his joke didn’t net him the laugh he wanted.. “I mean, you had to know your old man had plans to straighten you out. He keeps getting mad at my dad, because the ass won't stop making jokes that I’m going to take over the company instead of you.”
“And this is it. Attaching me to Angie.” Steve said vacantly. “Because they know if I get married…”
He’d put his wife first. His family, first.
The one he’d wanted, dreamed of, since he first realized he didn’t have one.
He’d been playing checkers the entire time, too busy fighting fucking monsters and Russians to realize his parents had upgraded to chess.
In a dizzying array of mental connect-the-dots, Steve replayed the last years worth of conversations. All the odd little things they’d said. All the dumb things Steve had just ignored.
 They’d warned him.
Had told him he better shape up, or they’d be forced to do something drastic.
That his parents hadn’t wasted all this time, effort, money on him, for him to throw away his life like he was.
“You better start acting right and figuring out how to get your life back on track, because you won’t like what happens if I have to fix it for you. You get a month Steven, and after that? Well. Just remember you forced my hand, Steven.”
They knew. They knew him, and what made him tick.
“I think the real question is what Angie’s parents see in you.” Tommy teased, but then they both knew the answer to that puzzle.
For all that Steve’s mom complained about her husband, the guy was a shrewd and calculating businessman. Those weekends, then weekdays, then more and more time away hadn’t just been so he could go screw his secretary.
Richard Harrington had fast tracked his business to the point where it was now getting attention. The business journal, ‘Top 50 Companies to Watch’ kind.
Even if Steve fucked up entirely, he was set to inherit a fortune and a business that would continue adding to it, for some time to come.
Provided he did what his parents wanted.
Such as marrying Angie.
Thing was, if his parents did what they always did, and held their wealth (his car, his home, his life and all the little things in it) against him like a gun to his head, if Angie got that ring around her finger?
 Steve would bow to their whims.
 Because they could fluster him into proposing so he didn’t embarrass Angie, and her parents and anyone else who’d undoubtedly be watching. They’d make a spectacle of it.
Because once he did propose, they wouldn’t let him back out, burying him under guilt trips and veiled threats until he was marched down the aisle in a groomsman suite and told to stand.
Because against all common sense, Steve wanted a family who loved him so desperately he’d chase it like a dog if he was presented with the opportunity and told to make it work.
It didn’t matter that Angie was selfish.
Steve would try anyway.
His parents were maneuvering him as easily as they had back when he was a kid, using love as a tool to get him to do what they wanted and even seeing the nose hanging from the rafters, they knew just the right words to get him to place it around his neck.
“Thought you’d wanna know.” Tommy finished, pushing himself off Steve’s car. “Before your parents sprung it on you.”
“Sonofabitch.” Steve hissed angrily, a million thoughts racing through his head, the heat of being caught in a trap blasting down his spine.
“Yeah.” Tommy added, rather unhelpfully. “But hey, given that you’re about to go on vacation to propose, why don’t we consider this,” here Tommy swept his hand, gesturing to the party below, “your proposal party?”
It was a downright horrible idea.
But then, Steve didn’t exactly have a better one.
Not  when the world itself seemed against him, grinding its heel into his back and laughing about it.
He knew the drill. If he went down there, arm in arm with Tommy, then it wouldn’t matter that half those kids were from a few towns over, driven in by new college buddies.
They’d see him as a reason to get wild, absolutely uncaring that they didn’t know who the hell he was.
Steve needed that.
People who weren’t mad at him, buying into the easy lies his parents wove, or who didn't understand the games played against him.
“Fuck it.” He announced, standing up from the hood of his car as Tommy’s grin morphed into something he used to see in the days of old, back when they were sneaking drinks from their parents' alcohol cabinets. “This way at least I get a party.”
Not like his parents were going to let him have an engagement party. Or a bachelor party, or likely let his ass back into Hawkins.
No matter how long the engagement.
Tommy cheered, raising his arms to the sky and Steve grinned wildly with him.
He’d figure out how to get out of all this later--but for now, he wanted just a few damn hours where he didn’t have to think.
Not about his parents, or Angie, or possible attempts to force him into marriage, like this was the yee olden days and Steve was a Victorian maiden who needed to be brought to heel.
Likewise he didn’t want to think about the Party, or Russian torture, or how Nancy could be so damn smart in some things and downright stupid in others.
He absolutely didn't want to think about Robin.
“Hey boys and girls, look who I drug up!” Tommy yelled as they approached and soon, word had spread.
This was Steve’s proposal party, and he was here to get absolutely smashed (while encouraging everyone else to do the exact same, in his honor.)
Which would be how Eddie found him a few hours later.
Still at the quarry, crossfaded off his ass, a forty in one hand and a lawn dart in the other.
“Are you kidding me, Steve?” Eddie grit out, desperately trying to wrestle the lawn dart out of his hand. “You’re fucking partying with Tommy Hagan!?”
Steve blinked at him a few times, finally catching on that Eddie was in fact, actually there.
“When did you show up?” He asked, though given the wince on Eddie’s face and just how hard it had been to move his lips, Steve correctly assumed he’d slurred the shit out of the question.
Somehow, Eddie understood him anyway.
“Robin called me a while ago, gave me a list of places you might be. Almost skipped this one until I stepped out of my van to take a piss and heard the party.” Eddie explained, and somehow while doing so, he’d successfully gotten a hold of the dart.
He was now working on removing the 40 ounce.
Steve frowned, using his newly freed hand to grip it closer to his chest.
“Harrington.” Eddie warned, and oh, wow, they were back to last names huh?
Well why not, it wasn't like his night could get worse.
“This is mine, Munson.” Steve fired back, putting as much vitriol into Eddie’s last name as he could.
This did not detour the metalhead.
“Come on man, give me the bottle.” Eddie said firmly.
Steve shook his head stubbornly, enjoying the way his hair whipped at his face. “No.”
Another man stumbled over, a guy Steve absolutely did not know. He frowned, looking between Eddie and Steve.
For two seconds, Steve thought they might have trouble, and given the way Eddie was tensing, he clearly thought so too.
Instead, New Guy just kind of rocked on his heels. “Hey, shove off it, buddy. It’s this guy's bachelor party, let the man drink!”
Eddie’s face did something complicated then, pulling the sort of expressive looks only he could manage.
It was both adorable and hilarious, and if Steve hadn’t just been reminded of the very reason he was drinking, he’d have told Eddie so.
“Yeah!” He said instead, raising his hand in the air, toasting his bottle of forty against the other guy’s red solo cup. “It’s my proposalengagmentbachelor party!”
Given the second, adorable-slash-hilarious look on Eddie’s face, Steve assumed those words hadn’t come out right either.
“Okay.” Eddie said hands on his hips in a stance Steve was pretty sure Eddie had gotten from him. “Here’s what's going to happen. You’re going to put the bottle away. Then you’re going to give me your car keys, and then the two of us are going to my house to sleep whatever is happening here, off.”
At least, that's what Steve thought he heard. It was a pretty un-Eddie like speech, and Steve maybe, might have been the one to say it, because he maybe, might have been mocking what Eddie had actually said.
Maybe.
It was hard to know, given that Steve’s thoughts were a thick soup on a bit of a time delay, and he was having a hard time figuring up from down, let alone what Eddie had been actually saying.
Speaking of;
 “When did I get into your car?” Steve asked, blinking as the van’s passenger seat appeared before him.
“Just now.” Eddie said, helping him in.
“Huh.” Said Steve, and then he maybe passed out a bit, because once again, he found himself awake and alert at a place that wasn’t where he’d just been.
“Come on.” Eddie said gently, one of Steve’s arms over his shoulder as Steve leaned heavily into him, guiding the jock up the stairs and into the small house he and Wayne now called a home.
The guy might have muttered a few things about bachelor parties along the way, but Steve was too focused on walking straight to really take notice.

pairing: luke castellan x daughter of dionysus!reader
summary: your father gives you the talk, after he catches luke and you sneaking around
warnings: innuendo?, making out, dionysus dramatics
a/n: let’s pretend ep 8 of pjo didn’t happen. ngl brainrotting to luke and swan lake op 20 act 1

Dionysus paced around in front of the two of you. His Hawaiian shirt catching wind. Luke was trying (and failing) to hide the grin. It was quite amusing to see a God worry about something like this.
Dionysus was muttering something to himself. You caught wind of your father talking about “Chiron” and “the talk” and he was so confused on where to start.
You grimaced just knowing this wouldn’t end well. “Dad, please…” You helplessly plead not to even start this conversation.
“No, no! I must.” Dionysus spoke and put his hands up in discontent. He leaned against his little desk in the Big House.
“Do you know how betrayed I feel!?”
Luke smiled as he helped you down the steps of Cabin 12. A stupid lovey-dovey grin on both of your faces as your interlaced hands and ran across camp. It was as if you were normal mortal teenagers rather than half-bloods.
You trek through the forest used for the Capture the Flag, running along the river which lead to the lake. Every so often, Luke stopped to steal a kiss from you. You two had not seen each other all day because of counselor duties.
“Luke—!” You giggled after he stole yet another kiss.
“You’ve deprived me of affection, love.” Luke joked and held your hands. He walked backwards into a clearing. You reached the lake. It was usually used for canoeing, swimming and Capture the Flag (as well as romantic rendezvous). “How was I supposed to sleep without seeing you?”
Luke took of the jacket he was wearing so you could sit without getting sand on your pajamas. The waves of the lake seeped into the sand by your feet. Luke and you sharing portions of his jacket so you both won’t get dirty.
“I did retire to my cabin without giving you a good night kiss.” You joked your hand came to rest on Luke’s cheek.
“What a terrible girlfriend.” Luke hummed and lips in to kiss your lips. You breathed through your nose. Fireworks exploded in your stomach as you and Luke kissed, pushing each back ever so slightly, but not letting go.
Your other hand went to cup his face fully. Sweet nothings heard here and there as he pulled back for air just to dive back in.
You can’t help but lose yourself in him.
It’s always him.
You can’t help it. When he looks like that, treats you like this and has a reputation of that— you can’ help it.
“Luke…”
“Mm…”
“Hi!” Mr. D shined a flashlight on both of you. His hand on his hip. Luke and you break apart and block the shiny light from your eyes. “So…you both get bathroom duty for…3 months—”
Before Mr. D could even dish out punishment, he gasps. He gasps so dramatically you think he sucked all the oxygen from the world.
“I know.” Your dad stated firmly. His flare for dramatics makes you want to roll your eyes. “I know that is not my daughter kissing a boy.”
“Betrayed?”
You exclaim. Your face contorting into disbelief and surprise. You leg stopped bouncing as you stare at your father.
“Yes. Betrayed that my own—” Dionysus feigns his tears. A hand over his heart as if he is going to a parental crisis. “My own daughter!” His voice shaky.
“With all due respect Mr. D—” Luke spoke up.
“I’m not talking to you!” Dionysus exclaimed and crouched to his knees in front of you.
He turns on the fake waterworks. “You’re growing up! Which means…you’ll be discovering things that make you—”
Luke and you cringe. “Dad!” You cried out, disgusted with what he was trying to imply. Mr. D’s act drops. He stood up and leaned on his table. “Look, you two are young and Chiron was telling me to man up and have like a sex talk—”
“Dad!” You stood up, grabbing Luke’s hand. You storm out of there, listening to your father yell phrases like “be safe when you’re with him!” or “That’s 4–no 5 months on bathroom duty!”
You face was as red as the strawberries growing in the field. Luke laughed quietly at your embarrassment, though he himself was embarrassed.
“Hey. You heard your father. Be safe with me.” Luke teased and grabbed your waist. He turned you around to face him.
“Luke—please, that was already embarrassing enough.” You spoke flustered.
“So…” Luke dragged out with a small smile. He leaned in towards your face, lips centimeter away from yours. “Next time. We won’t get caught. Can’t suffer another talk again, can we?”
Luke pressed a chaste kiss to your lips.

Yes, sir.
Moving to the outer banks wasn’t planned but your grandmother needed as much help as she could get. What she didn’t mention was a hot guy named JJ worked for her. And he decides to take you. Even if you’re sleeping.
Moodboard
Idk what came over me. Thank you so much to @xxhellfirebunnyxx for beta reading and always talking me out of quitting writing. This is kinda short but oh well. And also my first JJ fic EEEEEEEE. And yes, I changed the name.
Warnings! Dubcon! Fucking you awake! Slight spanking! Pussy slapping! Oral! Fem recieving. Choking! Tying hands! Unprotected sex! Breeding kink! Perv! JJ Dark! JJ Dom! JJ sub reader!
You knew moving to a new state would be hard but the worst part was unpacking the dozens of boxes in your bedroom and you were careful to set away your prized box of toys.
You moved here to take care of your Grandma, the old woman didn’t have anyone else and she couldn’t hardly care for herself anymore. You didn’t mind, leaving behind your old state and hovering parents that were disappointed in your life choices. Setting your hands on your hips briefly you then jumped at the sound of the lawn mower. You walked to your window and gasped.
Moving the tool was a tall, shirtless blonde guy wearing knee length shorts. His shirt was tossed over his shoulder and his backwards hat covered his messy hair.
He glanced up and you stepped back from the window. You breathed out before you went downstairs where you grandma was loitering in the kitchen. “Grandma, are you hungry? It’s past noon.”
“Oh, sweetheart, I want you to meet someone.” She gestured for someone to enter the kitchen who was behind you and you gulped when you saw it was the hot blonde guy.
He put his t shirt on unfortunately and grazed by you as he passed by.
“This is JJ. He helps me around and I appreciate his company.” She reaches up and pinches his cheek. You snort when he winced but then plasters on a fake smile.
“And she’s my favorite lady to cut grass for, aren’t you?” You almost rolled your eyes at the way your grandma cooed after him.
JJ turned towards you. “Well, you must be the famous uh, Baby doll, your grandma keeps talking about. When did you get here?” The way he phrases the word makes goosebumps rise on your skin but you clear your throat.
“I uh, got here three days ago. I’m still unpacking.” JJ nodded.
“Well, let me know if you need any help with that. I gotta finish cleaning the pool. I’ll see you later.” He gave you a smirk, glancing up at your body.
Tumblr media
The hours went by and you really tried to resist but you finally took out your rabbit. Tension built up from stress and now new eye candy to admire. He stayed for hours, cleaning and working outside. Giving you plenty to view as he wiped sweat off his body with his discarded shirt.
Everyone where you used to live wasn’t nearly on his level. And he seemed confident. At least to you.
The silicone was slightly cold as you ran it down your clit that was covered in spit.
What you didn’t know. someone was watching you.
JJ was hidden in your closet. He never left, only snuck back in through the window when everyone went to bed. He had been waiting for weeks for you to come. The old woman couldn’t stop talking about her pretty little granddaughter. And when he saw your picture? He knew he’d have you no matter what it took. He didn’t care that it made him a total perv right now.
The way you ran the toy over your pussy that was glistening even in the dim lighting. Your hands were grabbing your tits as you massaged them and he had to clench his jaw to keep from moaning.
Finally, you brought it inside you, your cunt took it with ease as you pumped it slowly then faster. You almost rolled on the bed, your legs spread wide as you moaned and panted. “Mmm,”
JJ started palming himself before he forced himself to stop. No. He wouldn’t cum in his own hand. No. He would cum inside you.
You were growing closer, he could tell by the way you were breathing and how your stomach tightened. Come on, baby. There you go. He thought.
You spilled all over the toy and bit your lip to quiet yourself. JJ wanted to make you scream and he would. He’d have you on your own bed. A little Kook according to his standards but you needed him. Your pretty doe eyes that were fucked out. Your bitten bloody lip that he wanted to suck.
He waited as you drifted asleep after staying on your phone.
He quietly walked out, his boots thankfully not making much noise. JJ carefully picked up the discarded rabbit beside you. He brought it to his mouth, seeing it was still wet with your slick.
He wrapped his lips around it, his eyes rolling back at the sweet taste that coated the plastic. JJ knew his own cum would taste like heaven mixed with yours. His tongue licked the sides, much like how he wanted to devour your sweet pussy. You were still naked on your lower half. JJ rolled his hips as he tried to keep quiet.
But your swollen pussy. Your tits hanging outside of your shirt. Fuck it. JJ set the rabbit down and sank to his stomach. He wasn’t going to wake you up in the traditional way. No. His breath warm against your pussy and he flattened his tongue against your clit.
You groaned, something…felt good. It was in between your legs. It was warm and pressured. You groggily opened your legs and saw a head full of blonde curls buried in your cunt. You gasped but a slap landed on your ass.
“Shhh.” It was JJ. “Lay back. Like a good girl.” He commanded as he greedily sucked your clit before releasing it. he saw you were still sitting up, eyes wide staring at him. “Lay. Down.” He gritted out and you quickly obeyed.
“Yes, sir.” You whispered as he kitten licked the underside of your bud before sinking it inside you. Your pussy tightened around his tongue and he groaned and dug his nails against your flesh. He dragged them down as you humped his mouth with force but he didn’t fucking care.
“JJ, I’m gonna c-“ He stopped immediately and you whined from the removal.
JJ slapped your pussy. “You should see how pathetic you look.” He smirked as he yanked off his shorts and wrapped your wrists with his belt above your head. “This is how it’s gonna go, you’re gonna fucking take it.”
You shuddered before he slammed his lips to yours, he tasted like weed as he opened his mouth and twisted his tongue to yours. You tasted yourself on him as your eyes fluttered shut. You felt him run the tip of his cock along your slit before he sank into you, filling you up.
Your head lulled to the side as you sighed as he started thrusting without warning. “You’re such a dirty slut, huh? Letting me fuck you while you’re sleeping? Fucking yourself while I’m watching?”
Your headboard slammed against the wall and your eyes rolled back as he hit a particular deep spot inside you and his necklace hovered above your face. You couldn’t hardly move but just accommodate him with your legs wrapped around his waist. “Don’t-don’t stop, sir.”
JJ leaned down and let spit fall into your mouth. “I’m gonna cum in you. Fuck a baby inside you. You’d like that? Knocked up with my baby?”
You nodded rapidly. “Yes, sir. Fuck,” You body jolted as your peak was rising, his thumb started circling around your clit.
JJ was about to cum, you knew by the way his speech halted and his movements stopped having a rhythm as he ravaged you. His hand slid to your throat as he gripped you. “Thank me for fucking you. Then you-you can cum.” He muttered.
“Thank you for fucking me, sir.” You whined before your pleasure exploded inside you.
Your body trembled as white hot euphoria came over you and your air was cutting off as JJ squeezed. His rings cold against your burning flesh. He spilled inside you, sticky and all over your pussy and thighs.
You both breathed in each other and he released your throat and you sucked in oxygen.
JJ gave you a wicked smile. “I’m not done with you, princess. I’m gonna hide again in your closet. And you’re going to pretend you’re sleeping. We’ve got all night, huh?”

“I’m going to have so much fun with you.”
This really got away from me. Roughly 2220 words. Pre-relationship/implied getting together Steve/Eddie fluff, Steve’s bad parents briefly mentioned.
Steve was always around when people were having fun.
He was a permanent fixture in the background at trips to the arcade, days at the quarry, trips to the city. Steve was always there. The kids would practically be chanting his name on the drive home from whatever excursion they all went on, grateful that he was there to let them have all the fun they wanted. Nancy and Robin would each link one of his arms and stroll along, chattering quickly about their newest favourite movie or the amazing song they heard on the radio before he untangled himself and let them walk together. Jon and Argyle would laugh softly between themselves and call him “super Steve”, trying to ruffle his hair before he slipped away to let them enjoy their haze in peace.
No one ever noticed that Steve wasn’t having any fun. His shoulders were locked in a stiff line. His smile never quite reached his eyes. Stephen Harrington Senior’s words echoed across his memory every time he felt himself on the cusp of laughing a little too loud.
“Don’t make such a fool of yourself, laughing and like an idiot! Get it together and act like a real man. Sit up straight, stay serious,”
Steve had stopped asking for birthday parties after that year.
He loved seeing his friends losing themselves into a fit of hysterics. Loved watching their faces turn red as breathless laughs bubbled out of them. It made him want to lose himself in the moment right there with them, but he could never quite shake off the thought of what if Dad finds out?
But no one noticed.
Well, at least until Eddie Munson started paying attention.
Steve found it harder to hang back and linger on the sidelines whenever Eddie was around. He’d always find himself being dragged right up beside the rest of the group, unable to fade off to the edge of everyone’s peripheral vision. His skin itched every time but purposely removing himself after it happened would be obvious. Steve didn’t want to explain to his friends that he was too embarrassed to enjoy himself because his mommy and daddy might think it was in poor taste.
Still, Eddie saw.
Eddie would grab his elbow and pull him off to the side if Steve’s inability to hold a real smile started to creep up on him. Close enough to everyone else to not raise suspicion, far enough away that the hairs on the back of Steve’s neck laid flat again. It was a loose routine that turned rinse-and-repeat of Eddie pulling Steve right into the middle of the action, and then taking him back out again. Anyone else and Steve might have fought back. He might have demanded it stop, say it made him uncomfortable, he might have even picked up his car keys and gone home.
Steve couldn’t put into words exactly why he let Eddie do it, but the feeling that rolled through his stomach when Eddie would pat him on the shoulder and say Loosen Up, You Might Like It kept him from pushing back.
-
Steve pulled up at Eddie’s trailer at nine sharp, ready to bring the Hellfire gang home after a long session. Usually he would hear them from outside, loudly rambling about spells and dice and classes and all manner of things. Tonight though, Steve heard nothing when he knocked on the door.
“Hey Stevie,” said Eddie, swinging the door open.
“Where, uh, where is everyone?” asked Steve with a furrowed brow, looking behind Eddie and into a very empty living space.
“Cancelled the game,” Eddie shrugged, grabbing his jacket off the back of the door. “Come on, let’s go,”
Steve found himself being pushed backwards down the steps, mouth open in annoyed confusion.
“Cancelled? What?” he protested. “Why didn’t they tell me? I could have made plans, Ed-“
“Steve?” interrupted Eddie, a smile pulling at his lips. “Shut the fuck up, ‘kay?”
Steve made a noise as if to talk back but Eddie just waved a finger in front of his face before gesturing for him to follow.
They didn’t speak during the short walk to the back half of the trailer park but it wasn’t exactly quiet. A local football team had won a game earlier in the evening and the residents were either celebrating wins or drowning sorrows of a loss. Steve loved the buzz of the community in Forest Hills, even if it reminded him how suffocating life in Loch Nora was. Sometimes he let his mind wander and created a fantasy life, where he drove back here after a days work and Eddie greeted him at the door with a smile and a kiss.
Eddie led Steve just beyond the homes that littered the park and to a small clearing just off the path.
“Alright, alright, alright!” exclaimed Eddie, clapping his hands and gesturing to what was laid out on the ground in front of them. “You wanna be blue or red?”
In the dim light of the summer evening, Steve realised he was looking at of a game of cornhole, set up and ready to go.
“Too late,” said Eddie quickly, snatching a red beanbag from the grass. “I’m red, snooze you lose,”
Eddie tossed his ammo at the board, hitting the centre hole and just barely brushing the edge. Steve wondered why he was never scouted for basketball in highschool. It was a great shot.
“Oh yeah!” yelled Eddie, lifting his knees high as he ran a small victory lap around Steve. “Beat that, Harrington!”
Steve glanced back at the closest trailers, wondering if Eddie’s shouting was disturbing then. He was still unsure why exactly he was playing a game instead of driving people home, but when no one opened a door to tell them to pipe down, he scooped up a blue beanbag and aimed.
“Uh, yeah, ok…” he mumbled, lining up the shot.
It went in with ease, not even touching the sides.
“Beat it,” said Steve with a shrug.
Eddie balked and spun around dramatically, putting his hands in his hair. He stopped abruptly mid turn, legs still crossed around themselves, and glared at Steve.
“You’re not celebrating,” said Eddie. It wasn’t a question.
“Oh, I, yeah,” stuttered Steve before punching the air. “Got it, alrightttt,”
“That was terrible,” groaned Eddie, shaking his head and going to retrieve the beanbags.
They played a few more rounds before Steve asked again why he was here.
“You’re telling me driving a bunch of kids back home would be more fun that this?” teased Eddie.
“No! No, sorry, thats…” Steve sighed. “I just don’t know what’s going on, you know? This wasn’t exactly what I thought my night was going to look like,”
“And what was it going to look like?” asked Eddie.
Like a microwave dinner and bed before ten. Like lying awake until the sun came up wondering if Eddie was sleeping or up all night drawing. Like wishing he was doing exactly this.
“I don’t know,” lied Steve.
“You’re not enjoying it?” asked Eddie, firing another beanbag right into the target. “Fuck yeah! I’m on god damn fire tonight,”
Steve looked around again, expecting to see people glaring at the from their windows.
“I am, I am,” said Steve quickly. “Just don’t want your neighbours to come yell at us for the noise, that’s all,”
Steve tried to smile but it felt like more of a grimace.
“Yeah,” said Eddie with a heavy sigh, taking Steve’s beanbag and throwing that too. “Figured that was it,”
“Hey, that was mine,” started Steve. “Wait, you…what?”
“You don’t make a lot of noise, Steve,” said Eddie. “I can see it fucking bursting out of you sometimes but you keep it all wrapped up in there,”
Eddie tapped Steve’s chest.
“Thought for a while you didn’t feel included,” continued Eddie, swinging his arms as he retrieved the beanbags once more. “But then, that wasn’t it either so…”
“So?” asked Steve, folding his arms and feeling slightly defensive.
“So I remembered what Wayne told me once about the street you live on,” explained Eddie. “Said no matter how many times he fixed a car on someone’s driveway, spent a day nailing tiles to a roof… He never once heard a kid playing,”
“That’s not true!” Steve said automatically.
But it was. Children were to be seen and not heard and if you couldn’t play quietly then you couldn’t play at all. Steve read a lot of books in his childhood until he learned to be quiet.
Eddie hummed and lined up another shot, holding the blue beanbag up to thrown.
“I’m the blue one,” Steve told him.
“What?”
“You’re red,” said Steve.
“Sorry, can’t hear you,” shrugged Eddie, throwing the blue bag.
Steve let out an involuntary noise of indignation before clapping a hand over his mouth. It was louder than any noise he’d made in months.
“Oh?” asked Eddie, smiling wide. “Was there something you needed to say?”
“You threw my bag!” said Steve in a stage whisper, checking around again to make sure he hadn’t disturbed the neighbours.
“You’ll have to speak up!” yelled Eddie, holding a hand to his ear.
“Eddie, I’m not-“ Steve scrunched his face up and kissed his teeth. “I don’t know why it bothers you so much. I’m quiet, okay, that’s it, that’s all,”
“Oh, it doesn’t bother me,” said Eddie easily. “But the way it bothers you is kind of difficult to watch,”
Eddie turned to face away from the target and threw the red beanbag over his shoulder, missing the hole in spectacular fashion.
“Ha!” The laugh was out of Steve’s mouth before he could stop it and he cringed again.
“Steve, look, listen, okay?” said Eddie, coming to stand in front of Steve. “Listen to what’s happening around you,”
Steve could hear football fans still partying. Dogs barking. Children screeching at the park’s nearby playground while their parents called for them to come in from the dark.
Eddie put his hands on Steve’s biceps and shook him gently.
“Life is loud sometimes,” Eddie told him earnestly, squeezing his arms. “This place is loud. The world is loud. You are allowed to be loud, sweetheart,”
Steve’s heart skipped at the nickname.
“I don’t think I am,” said Steve softly. The moonlight lit up Eddie’s eyes as he watched Steve closely.
“Have I ever lied to you?” asked Eddie.
“Yes,” answered Steve.
“In a way that mattered,” said Eddie, rolling his eyes. “The kids will ready to leave in ten minutes doesn’t count. What I mean is… Okay, so put it this way,” Eddie voice fell to a soft murmer. “I’m telling you, promising you, that you can make as much noise as you want. And no matter what anybody else in the entire world might think or say, I’ll be right there beside you, being even louder. Because you need to know that it’s okay to make noise and be heard, Steve,”
Steve was struck by Eddie’s sincerity. Part of him wanted to laugh at the implication of them being loud together and he could tell Eddie did too, but he was too caught up in realising how close Eddie had gotten while he spoke. The toes of their sneakers were pressed together and Steve could smell the last cigarette on his breath. The softness of his voice in contrast to the promise of noise, making it sound like almost a secret between them.
“You will?” whispered Steve.
Eddie moved back and went to stand by the target. He threw the beanbags to Steve and pointed down to the bullseye.
“How many points do you want for a direct hit?” asked Eddie loudly.
“Uh…fifty?” said Steve, unsure of the sudden change of subject.
“Can’t hear you,” called Eddie, louder again.
Steve felt a laugh start to rumble in his chest as he caught up to what Eddie was doing. He looked at Eddie, waiting with raised eyebrows for a response, and fought the urge to dampen it.
“Fifty!” said Steve, forcing his volume up.
Eddie’s smile grew.
“One more time?” he said, even louder now.
Steve let the laugh out.
“I said seventy five!” yelled Steve, throwing his beanbag.
It sailed through the hole dead-on. Steve rolled his head around on shoulders and closed his eyes, before throwing his arms up and whooping. He spun around and laughed up towards the sky.
“Are you sure you said seventy five?” teased Eddie as he came back to Steve’s side.
“How do you know I didn’t say a hundred?” countered Steve playfully.
The laughter between them died down slowly, leaving them watching each others faces with leftover soft smiles. Eddie put a hand on Steve’s shoulder, right at the juncture his neck.
“It’s fun, right?” asked Eddie gently, his thumb stroking along the bare skin at the edge of Steve’s t shirt.
Steve leaned into the touch, the tips of his fingers buzzing to reach out and touch Eddie right back.
“Fun, yeah,” repeated Steve, grabbing the bottom of Eddie’s jacket and just holding it.
Eddie held up the remaining beanbag in his hand.
“Wanna do it again?” he asked, shaking the bag. “Keep this fun train rolling?”
Steve smiled.
“I’m going to have so much fun with you,” said Steve. “I can tell,”

Ninã - Miguel O'Hara / Teen Reader
THIS IS NOT A SEXUAL RELO ITS MIGUEL BEING A PARENT OKAY
summary:
“Niña?” Her heart stops at the voice in front of her. Theres only one person in the whole multiverse who calls her that.
“What the fu-hell are you doing here?”
She looks at him with open eyes, slowly rimming with tears.
“I-uh..I could ask you the same thing?” She says nervously.
OR:
reader is 17 and pregnant and wants to get an abortion but doesn't want anyone to know but miguel finds her at the clinic and takes care of her.
3920 words
Two lines.
Her eyes frozen, straight on the lines that scream "biggest mistake of your life" in her ears. A sob escapes through her throat and she lets the tears fall uncontrollably as she covers her mouth, slapping herself internally
"How could you be so stupid?" She asks herself.
She stays in the stall for about an hour, crying and cursing to herself until her legs start cramping up and she stops crying. She decides to go send in the report to Miguel, he’s been asking her for it for a while now.
Her and Miguel never really had the best relationship. She was always getting into trouble and he was always cleaning up after her. He would always give her the most criticism when giving briefs. Whether she’s being risky on missions, not thinking straight when fighting, putting herself into danger and thus stressing him the fuck out.
She opens the door to find the brooding male standing at his monitors. ‘Come on, just hide it. just for a little bit.’ She thinks to herslelf. She takes a deep breath before walking in.
“Hey Miggy” she smirks, knowing he hates that nickname. “I got that report you’ve been wanting.” she said, waving it in the air.
He turns away from his monitors to see the report and walks towards her before taking it from her hand. “I asked to see this 2 days ago.” He says while flipping through the pages and glancing at her. He notices her puffy eyes and red cheeks. ‘Is she crying? No, knowing her she’s probably high.’
As he thinks to himself, he questions his decision to recruit such a young, stupid teenager.
“Dios mío- are you high?” He asks sternly, looking her straight in the eye.
“What? No! What makes you say that.” She says, taken aback.
“Well your eyes and cheeks are red and puffy.” He replies, pointing at her face with the papers.
“I’m not high.” She says. “Besides, where would I even get good grass around here.” She joked.
“You’re lying. Fucking Hobie again isn’t it?” He says, muttering swear words in spanish.
“I’m not lying! Breath test me right now.”
“No i’m not bothered just- get out please. I really don’t wanna deal with your bullshit today.” He says, holding the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut.
“Alright alright.” She says, walking backwards to the exit .“See ya Miggy!” she laughs as he rolls his eyes, and turns back to the monitors.
But as soon as she leaves, her smile drops, and she lets out a massive breath that she didn’t know she was holding.
“Should I keep it?”
“Adoption is still a thing right?”
“How much does an abortion cost?”
“Oh God what are my parents gonna say?”
These thoughts swimming in her mind as she walks through the crowded halls of the Spider HQ.
“Ay, watch the arms fam.” She hears a voice, sounding like Hobie, but she can’t even process it right now. Her body is in autopilot, until she feels something grab at her wrist and takes her out of her mind.
“Hey, are you okay?” Gwen asks, looking at her with concerned eyes. She realises all her friends are in front of her
“Huh? Oh, yeah I’m great. Just peachy.” She says, putting on a fake smile.
“But..you’ve been crying?” Pavitr says softly, approaching her and putting an arm on her shoulder. The rest of the Spider-Teens circle her, worry filling their eyes.
“Whats wrong?”
“You alright fam?”
“You can talk to us”
She hears these words swinging around her ears until she pulls away from them and laughs.
“Guys seriously, I’m fine. Nothings wrong, I don’t know what you’re so worried about.” She says while walking away while putting the hood of her jacket on and shoving her hands in her pocket.
“I need to get rid of it.”
-
She enters the clinic, nervous with her hand clutching her purse. She walks up to a counter and looks at the nurse, “Hi, um…I have an appointment at 4?” She says softly.
“Yes of course dear, we just need you to sign these forms. Have a seat over there and we’ll call you when we’re ready to being the procedure.” The nurse says, smiling softly at her.
She nods, taking the papers and a seat in the waiting area. As she starts reading the papers, she’s thinking about how she ever got herself into this position. She feels her heart in her ears as she writes her signature for the fourth time.
“Niña?” Suddenly her heart stops at the voice in front of her. Theres only one person in the whole multiverse who calls her that.
“What the fu-hell are you doing here?”
She looks at him with open eyes, slowly rimming with tears.
“I-uh..I could ask you the same thing?” She says nervously.
“I donate here all the time. I just came to finalise some paperwork. Now you.” He said, crossing his arms.
“I…uh…” No words came out of her mouth. She sat there, silent, looking down to her feet.
“Wait.” He said, uncrossing his arms, and slowly approaching her. “Are you…pregnant?” He said, his accusatory tone being replaced with a more concerned one.
She sees him take the seat next to her, but doesn’t dare to move. Instead she lets the tears roll down her cheeks, soaking the papers as she covers her face with her hands.
“Oh niña, ¿por qué no dijiste nada?” He said, removing her arms and pulling her in for a hug. She reciprocates and wraps her arms tightly around his neck, falling into his embrace. She didn’t realise how much she needed this, having someone to care for her. To support her through this whole situation.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to disappoint you,” Her words muffled with her face in his chest. He rubs circles around her back, rethinking his choices that made her so afraid to talk to him, that she kept a whole pregnancy to herself. “Does anyone know? Do your parents know? Or your friends?” He said, as he pulled away from her and wiped the tears off her red cheeks, giving him déjà vu from their last interaction. ‘Is this what she was crying about?’ He thinks.
She shook her head. “No. No one knows. I didn’t want to tell anyone. I just want to get rid of it and forget this ever happened.” She said, looking down, while fidgeting with her fingers. He nodded in response.
“Are you gonna tell anyone?” She said softly, as she finally looked up to meet his eyes. For once, the angry eyes were gone, and were replaced with orbs full of concern and worry.
“Not if you don’t want me to. Do you have anyone to drive you home?” He asked, with one hand falling onto his lap and the other falling onto her shoulder.
“No.” she said, “I was kind of gonna catch a cab.” She laughed, looking to the side.
He shook his head again. “No, I can’t let you do that. I’ll drive you back to HQ.”
“A-Are you sure? I mean I don’t want to bother you-“
“Miss L/N?” the nurse calls her. “We’re ready when you are.” She says, smiling at the young girl.
She looks back at Miguel with fearful eyes and he takes his hand in hers. “I’ll be here when you get back. If you need anything, just send one of the nurses to get me, okay?” She stays silent and nods before getting up and following the nurse to the room.
He sees her walk away and slumps in the chair, holding his face in his hand. He shakes his head internally to himself. Jeez he was acting like this girl was his own daughter. He found himself constantly glancing at the closed door, where she lay.
-
She changed into her medical gown and exited the bathroom, the knot in her stomach slowly growing.
“Lay down here and spread your legs out, we’ll start off with the anaesthesia.” The doctor said.
She followed her instructions and laid down with her legs spread. The doctor injected her and she slowly found herself loosing feeling in her private area.
“We’ll begin the procedure now. Clamps please?” The doctor said. As they began the procedure, she found herself thinking about the life she could have led, had she had this baby. She realised that she’d been calling them ‘it’ the whole time she knew she was pregnant. She thought about how her ex-boyfriend always talked about having kids. Wanting kids. How she didn’t tell him. Not that he’d care anymore. Once he found out she was a Spider-Person, he didn’t want anything to do with her and her dangerous lifestyle.
She was crying. A feeling off loss filled her to the bone as she saw the doctors poking around. She covers her mouth with her hand to hide the sob threatening to escape her mouth, and the other to grip the sheets she lays on. Squeezing her eyes closed as the tears ran down into her hair.
She feels a hand holding onto her shoulder
“Do you want me to call him to come inside here?” The nurse said.
She nodded quickly. She really didn’t want to bother him, but she was hurting. she needed his support. She needed him to tell her everything was gonna be fine. That she was making the right decision.
- “Mr O’Hara?” the nurse called out.
As soon as he heard his name, he stood up and rushed in front of the nurse.
“Is she okay? Are there any complications?” He said hurriedly, trying to look inside the room, even though the door was closed.
“She’s doing well physically, but…I think she needs someone to hold her hand. Give her some support, you know?”
He nodded and the nurse opened the door to reveal a hurting, young girl crying on the bed, while the doctors did the procedure. His heart broke at the sight. The girl he knew, who was always confident, always sassy, always upbeat and positive, was crumbling down right in front of him.
He rushed to her side and sat down in the chair next to her bed. He took the hand covering her mouth and the hand holding the sheets and took them both in one hand. The other went straight to her cheeks, wiping her tears away. “Shh, shh ninã, its okay, I’m here. Everything’s gonna be okay. You can squeeze my hand if you need to.” He said calmly, while taking the strands of hair covering her face and tucked it behind her ear.
And she squeezed his hand like he was the last drip of water she would ever drink. She let the sobs out of her stomach and he rubbed her head soothingly, occasionally moving to wipe her tears and letting out supportive words here and there, some even in Spanish.
“The procedure is complete. You can change back into your clothes and get the final paperwork from reception.” The doctor said, before removing her gloves and walking out of the room, the nurses following closely behind her.
As soon as they left, Miguel got up to sit up on the bed and held her as she cried into his shoulder. He closed his eyes, imagining if it was his daughter in this situation. She was kind of like his daughter. She had the same ambitious personality. The same optimistic outlook on life, always active and always making trouble. He just wanted to support her. Make her feel better. So he held onto her, tighter, afraid to let go one more time.
After some time, her cries calmed, and the anaesthesia wore off, so she moved off the bed and went to the bathroom to change back into her clothes. She shimmied her underwear on, but fatigue hit her like a truck, and for the love of God she couldn’t get her pants on. She whined and groaned as she tried to get her pants on but failed.
Miguel heard her sounds and knocked on the door.
“Ninã? Are you okay?”
She whined once again. “They won’t go up.” she said, slurring her words just the tiniest bit, but this didnt pass through Miguel’s head.
He walked in and saw her struggling to put her pants on. “Ay querida, let me help you.” He said, rushing to her side. He takes her pants and pulls them up slowly, afraid to hurt her. He notices her dazed figure and as soon as he pulls her pants up the whole way, he puts an arm on her back and leaves the room, grabbing her purse in the process. He never once leaves her side, all he wants is to help her.
They enter reception and he gently sits her down on one of the chairs. She lets her head hit the wall as she sees him walk towards the reception desk and ask for the paperwork. As she sits, waiting patiently, she keeps replaying the look on his eyes when he found out she was pregnant. He was not in the least bit mad at her, or disappointed or anything. All he did was care for her. Nurture her, like she was his own child.
She imagined her family life to be different. If maybe in one universe, Miguel actually her dad, and how he would probably care for her like this all the time.
“Ninã? Wake up, we have to go now. Let’s get you back to HQ and to a bed.”
She nodded slowly and got out of the chair. He held her waist and helped her to leave the clinic and right into his car. Which happens to be a pickup truck.
‘Typical Miguel. Of course he would have a pickup truck’ She chuckles to herself.
He helps her into the seat, even putting the seatbelt on for her, tucking her legs into the seat. He wants her to be comfortable, and does everything in his power to do so.
“Is this okay?” He asks, looking into her glassy eyes.
She gives a soft smile and replies. “Yeah. Thank you.”
He smiles back and closes the door, making his way to the other side of the car.
As they drive she finds herself looking out the window, passing multiple families with children, how happily they race around the park. How their ice-cream touches their noses, leaving a light mark. How the smiles of the children never fail to brighten someone’s day. She starts contemplating her decision to get rid of the child. Regret starts flowing through her brain.
“Do you think I made the right decision?” She asks softly, still looking out the window.
Miguel sighs, glancing at her then back at the road. “Yes Querida. I think you have too much going on in your life right now. With being Spider-Woman, a student, and a daughter to your own family, a child of your own would be way too much. And this is just my opinion, but I think you’re too young to be a mother. You’ll have plenty of time for that when you’re older.” He says, never skipping a beat.
His words sink into her brain and she realises that he’s right. She is too young. She has too many responsibilities of her own right now. If she has a child, she would have to give up everything. Even being a spider.
She blinks her tears away and lifts her legs to rest her chin on her knees. ‘Yeah, he’s right.’ She thinks to herself, as she slowly drifts off to sleep.
Miguel glances at her and sighs. The worry never stopped. For the rest of the trip, he kept glancing back at her. He never stopped to make sure she was comfortable. That she was okay. He understands how shitty it must be for her right now. She doesn’t need him to be frantic and mad at her. He’s only mad that she didn’t come to him sooner. She was prepared to go through this without telling anyone. She was going into this by herself and that made him angry. Not at her, but himself. He was meant to be a leader. Someone people look up to. Someone people can come to when they need help, or have a concern. Especially the ones so young, like Gwen, Miles and Pavitr.
‘No wonder they always ask Peter and Jess for backup, and not me.’ He thinks to himself.
They arrive at HQ and he notices how she’s still deep in slumber. He opens her door and carries her in his arms.
He makes his way to his personal room and sets her down in his bed, ever so gently, as not to wake her. He tucks her in bed and tucks her hair behind her ear to reveal her face. He notices the puffiness and redness surrounding her face has decreased. He pecks her on the forehead and moves out to his office.
He takes his place in front of his monitors, as his suit appears and his normal clothes diminish.
“Lyla?”
“Sup Boss?”
“Keep a screen of the security cameras in my room on next to me.”
“Keeping an eye on your adopted child? So adorable.” She says, before disappearing and the video recording pops up next to his work. He sighs, questioning his sanity when he was programming her to be the sassiest person he knew.
As he continued his work, his eyes kept glancing towards the monitor next to him. He never stopped thinking about her. He wouldn’t admit this out loud, but he did feel like a father. He remembered the times when his daughter would get sick. How he would care for her, and make her soup, and take her temperature, and hold her in his arms- ‘stop it.’ He thought to himself.
He shuts those thoughts off immediately. Cracking his neck and rerouting his focus onto his work.
Hours pass and he realises that she probably hasn’t had anything to drink or eat the whole day. He decides to finish this report and get some food from the cafeteria. He makes his way through the crowd, finding people moving out of his way, cowering in fear. He sighs, ‘I really need to work on how I look to these people.’
As he orders his food, he feels an arm fall around his neck.
“Ay big boss. How’re ya?”
Hobie. For the love of God why him.
He sighs and turns around to find all the other spider-kids surrounding him. He raises an eyebrow. “What is it?”
“Nothin’, just wonderin’, you know anythin’ ‘bout the little one? She’s been dodging us this whole day and we fink you’re the only one who’s gotta know.”
“We’re just worried about her. We saw her crying when she came out of your office.” Gwen says.
He looks down at her and thinks for a moment. He remembered her words.
“I didn’t want to tell anyone. I just want to get rid of it and forget this ever happened.”
He sighs, “She’s sick. Stomach bug or something.” He says vaguely, while turning around and picking up the tray of food.
Before they can respond, he walks away, making a path towards his dorm.
As he opens the door, he finds her sitting up scratching her head. ‘She must have just woken up’. He says.
“Hey Ninã. How are you feeling.?” He says, sitting next to her on the bed, and putting the tray on the table.
She groans. “Like shit.”
“Yeah I thought you would. I brought you some food from the cafeteria. I’m thinking you probably haven’t had anything to eat or drink all day.”
“Ugh I love you you’re the best.” She said, while grabbing a burger from the mountain of food and taking a big bite of it. She sighs in content.
With her mouth full of food, she asks, “Why did you order so much food?”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full.” He said sternly, his fatherly senses kicking in. “Well I didn’t know what you liked, so I just got a bunch of food and thought I’d let you choose.”
She nods while taking another bite, and letting out another sigh. “you’re the best. did I tell you that?”
He laughs, “Yeah, you did.”
He watches her stuff her face with all the food he brought.
An idea pops into his head.
“Hey uh, if you’re up for it…I have a couple movies in the other room. We could have a movie night?”
She widens her eyes, “Oh my God YES!! Please can I invite the others? Oh they would love it so much. Please please please!” She said, dragging out the last word as she pouted.
He sunk his head down. He didn’t like the idea of the kids in his private room, but still. His main concern was her. “Yeah. Thats alright. Did you want me to call them? Or-“
“No need, already messaged them.” She smiled, putting her phone down.
Within the next second, a group consisting of Hobie, Miles, Pavitr and Gwen bust into the room. Hobie came with a bag full of her favourite snacks.
“Hey! You’re okay!” Gwen says, racing to go hug her. “We heard you were sick with a stomach bug. You doing okay now?”
She goes to hug her back. “Yeah, I’m feeling much better now.” She says, smiling at Miguel. Silently thanking him for staying quiet about the whole thing. He understands, and smiles in return.
The others go to hug her and light conversation passes through the air. He decides that it’s best to leave the kids to themselves and makes his way to the door.
Until it slams open again.
“Hey!! Heard theres a movie night going on here. Decided to come. And look who I brought!!” Peter says excitedly, while holding Mayday up for everyone to see.
Miguel groans as he lets him pass through.
“You can’t help it man. Just accept it.” Jess said, making her way through and patting him on the shoulder.
He turns to face everyone as they buzz with excitement.
“So what movie are we gonna watch?”
“Oh!! We should have a marathon!”
“Star Wars!! Has to be Star Wars.”
Miguel chuckles to himself, watching the kids’ enthusiasm hum through his room. He lets his eyes sit on her smile. He’s glad that she’s feeling better.
“Alright alright. I’ll put it in.” He says. A grin slowly forming on his face, he hides it.
After he selects the movie, he makes his way onto his bed, sitting next to the girl. She moves over to give him more room and she sets her eyes onto the screen
As the movies progress, the light conversation and debates about who’s a better character, Luke or Hans, reduces to light snores. Miguel finds his eyes setting on the girl, as her head falls onto his shoulder. She’s half asleep, barely paying attention, but awake enough to smile.
“Thank you.” She whispers, her eyes never leaving the screen.
“For what?” Miguel questions.
“For today. For helping me. And supporting me. I don’t know how I would have done it without you.”
He smiles down at her and wraps an arm around her, bringing her closer, so her head falls onto his chest and she falls into a deep slumber.
“Anytime, Ninã.”

***
It must have been around one in the morning when you woke up. You heard some knocking on your window, which was strange because your room was on the second floor. You were startled at the dark figure trying to get in, but soon relaxed when you realized who it was.
“You scared the shit out of me.” You laughed as you opened the window for your boyfriend, allowing him to crawl into your room. “You’re lucky my parents aren’t home, Wilkerson.”
“That’s the whole reason I came, N/n.” Reese teased, wrapping his arms around you and giving you a kiss.
“Aren’t you grounded?”
“Yeah. But when has that ever stopped me from coming over?” You giggled a little, knowing it was true. Somehow, Reese was at your house more than his own when he was grounded.
“So… What do you wanna do?” You asked, looking up at him a bit tiredly, with your chin resting on his chest. A hand fell to rest on your hip, a thumb slipping under the waistband of your sleep shorts.
“I can think of a couple things.” But you knew there was only one thing on Reese’s mind. And despite your slightly sleepy state, you were more than happy to comply.
Reese made you feel dizzy with the kisses he planted on your face and neck. Slowly, he guided you backward until your legs hit the foot of your bed. You let out a squeal as you fell back onto the mattress, Reese barely having enough time to put a hand on the bed to keep himself from falling on top of you. You couldn’t help but laugh, which quickly turned into a sigh as Reese’s head dipped down to nibble at your collarbone, which was exposed by the loose shirt that you had stolen from your boyfriend during one of your previous sleepovers.
The hand that wasn’t holding Reese up trailed down your body, cupping the place where you were needing him most. You moved against his hand, trying to find friction and relief.
“No teasing, Reese, please.” Usually, Reese would ignore your pleas. He liked to get you worked up until you couldn’t fathom taking anymore. But he must’ve been just as needy as you were, because he complied and started tugging off your shorts. You tried sitting up to remove your shirt, but he pushed you back down.
“Keep it on.” He demanded softly. When your shorts were off, Reese spread your legs apart, giving each of your thighs a quick squeeze. “Don’t move.” Then he walked away towards your dresser.
You whined at the loss of his touch, doing your best to not squeeze your thighs together for relief. Reese quickly came back with a foil wrapper. The sight excited you, even more so when you noticed the tent in his pants. You reached out and palmed him through his sweats, and he welcomed the touch with groans, shutting his eyes tight and throwing his head back.
Suddenly, Reese grabbed your wrist, taking your hand off of him. You frowned a little, wishing you could touch him. But Reese brought your hand up to kiss your knuckles before dropping it.
“If I let you do that for another second, I would’ve come in my pants.” The confession had you giggling, which made him smile.
Not wanting to go through the work of stripping you both completely bare, Reese yanked down his pants and boxers just enough for his cock to spring free. Your mouth watered at the sight in front of you, but you supposed you could suck his dick another time. The two of you were too horny to hold off any longer.
When Reese finally had the condom rolled onto himself, he focused on you. Once again, he cupped your pussy, and you mewled at the feeling.
“You’re fucking soaked, baby.” He whispered, although he didn’t have to since you were alone. “Did thinking about me and my dick get you all wet?”
You weren’t used to this slightly condescending tone from Reese, but you loved it. You nodded, grinding on his hand. He quickly pulled your panties to the side, revealing your glistening lips. Reese swiped his thumb over your clit a few times while he grabbed himself, lining up with your entrance before pushing in.
You moaned loudly, throwing your head back into the mattress. You were lucky that you had the house to yourself, because you don’t know if you could keep your voice down while Reese started thrusting into you.
“Oh, god, Reese.” You drawled, eyes rolling back as his cock started grazing that sensitive spot inside of you. He grabbed your legs, maneuvering them so they were over his shoulders, allowing him to pound you even deeper than you thought possible.
“Doing so good, N/n.” He panted, watching your body bounce with his every thrust. Something about seeing you in his shirt, getting fucked out of your mind, made him speed up his pace. “So fucking good.” A hand went down to feverishly rub your clit, making you squeeze his cock.
“Keep doing that, keep going.” You whined. “I’m so close, Reese. So close.” Your words encouraged Reese to fight through the exhaustion he was starting to feel.
“Come when you’re ready, baby. I got you.”
Soon enough, pleasure coursed through you as you gushed all over his cock. Your pussy spasmed, squeezing Reese so good that his orgasm quickly followed yours. He tried to ride you through your orgasms, his hips slowing their pace.
He panted, moving your legs off his shoulders and leaning forward to rest his head on your clothed chest. You petted his hair, trying to catch your breath.
“That was really good.” You said, voice somewhat raw.
“Yeah. I think I almost fucked you dumb.” Reese muttered. You jokingly hit him before pushing him off of you, rolling the two of you around so you were straddling him, cock still nestled inside of you.
“Shut up.” You laughed, electricity running up your spine from the new position you two were in. But both of you were too exhausted to go another round.
For now.

hidey hey
“Dash, you’re here so we can work on our project for Lancer’s class. We’re not supposed to be down here.”
“Come on, ghosts aren’t even real. How dangerous can it be down here?”
Danny rolled his eyes. “Dangerous enough that we should really be wearing jumpsuits to protect us from ecto-contamination.”
He walked over to the closet that was down there and pulled out his jumpsuit while Dash laughed at him.
“Matching outfits with your parents? Lame.”
“Don’t complain to me if you get ectoplasm poisoning then.”
Danny pulled on his jumpsuit and groaned at the sticker on his chest. He pulled it off and tossed it away.
“What’s this?” Dash pointed at the deep hole in the wall. Danny walked over to him.
“That’s my parent’s ghost portal. It didn’t end up working though.”
Dash pushed him towards the portal. “Why don’t you go check it out?”
Danny frowned at him and tried to catch his footing. “No. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I can’t-”
“Haha, go in.”
“Dash, stopping pushing me-”
Danny tripped backwards over the threshold of the portal. He tried to catch himself on something on the wall but all he ended up doing was pressing a button that for some godforsaken reason was on the inside of the portal. It hummed around him and after a few moments everything went green.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Glad to see you’re not dead, nerd.”
Danny looked up to see Dash. It was too early in the morning to deal with him after yesterday.
“You already knew I wasn’t dead.”
“A man can dream.” Danny rolled his eyes at Dash’s comment.
“I remember someone crying a lot of tears yesterday when they thought I was dead.”
A blush rose on Dash’s cheeks. “My adrenaline was running like crazy! It’s not my fault your screams triggered some kind of primal response in my brain!”
“Crying is a primal response now?”
Dash rolled his eyes back at him and crossed his arms. “Have you figured out your whole ghost thing yet?”
“It’s literally been one day.” Danny stared at him. “How could I have figured anything out yet?”
Dash leaned in close to Danny and he glanced at Dash’s lips for a moment before his gaze darted back to Dash’s. “Maybe your parents have some sort of cure. Or maybe it was a one time thing. I don’t know.”
“Why do you care so much? It’s literally your fault this is happening.”
Dash raised a hand and looked like he was reaching to place it on Danny’s shoulder. “I just-”
Dash was interrupted by someone clearing their throat behind them. They turned around and were met with Sam and Tucker. She was glaring at Dash with her arms crossed.
“What are you friends with him now?” Sam asked, angrily gesturing at Dash.
“Woah, so what if he wants to be friends with me?” He asked, stepping towards her.
She barked out a laugh. “Come on! You’ve been bullying him the entire time I’ve known both of you. Why would he want to be friends with you? You must be blackmailing him or something.”
“Sam, he’s not blackmailing me.”
“How can we trust that? You could be lying because he’s blackmailing you.” Tucker frowned at him and reached out a hand, placing it on Danny’s shoulder. “I don't want what happened in elementary school to happen again.”
Danny shrugged it off. “That’s not what’s going on. Why can’t you just trust me on this?”
“Because this isn’t smart.” Sam said. “Why do you guys need to be friends?”
Danny threw his hands into the air. “Why are you getting so defensive about this? You’ve literally only seen us have this one conversation and you’re already mad at me. For all you know we could have been assigned a project together or he’s asking about his tutoring sessions with Jazz. Maybe he had to reschedule and wanted me to tell Jazz.”
Tucker shuffled where he stood but Sam still stared at him with crossed arms.
“Yeah but are you going to tell us the real reason?”
“Does it matter, Sam?”
Out of the corner of his eye Dash saw Danny start slowly sinking. He panickingly grabbed Danny’s arm to prevent him from sinking any further into the ground. Danny tried to keep his expression neutral but Dash could tell he was shaken.
“Oh. Is that what’s happening?” Sam looked between the two of them.
“Is what happening?” Danny asked, frowning at her.
“What kind of enemies to lovers bullshit is this?” Dash’s eyes widened at her outburst. What was she talking about? What did she think was happening?
His gaze landed on where his hand was still wrapped around Danny’s upper arm and he pulled it back like he’d been burned. Sam scoffed.
“Sam-” Tucker started but she interrupted him.
“Do you even realize how toxic that kind of relationship can be? He’s just going to hurt you.”
Danny recoiled at her words. “What are you even talking about?”
“The fact that you two seem to be getting real cozy with each other? Are you dating or something?”
Dash stepped in front of Danny. “How shallow do you have to assume the only reason I’d be talking to him now is if we’re dating? For your information, we used to be friends as kids.” Dash frowned at her and watched as she backed up. “Just because you’re self conscious about your major crush on Fenton doesn’t mean you have to take it out on us because we’re having a simple conversation.”
A blush appeared on Sam’s cheeks before she angrily stormed away.
“Sorry.” Tucker said as he looked between them again before he followed after her.
Danny watched them as they walked into the school. He was quiet for a few moments before he turned his gaze back to Dash.
“Sam has a crush on me?”
Dash groaned. “That is what you’re focused on?” He started walking towards the school.
Danny followed next to him. “But I didn’t know that! How did you know that?”
“You’re just about the only person who didn’t know, Fenton.”
Dash pushed through the front doors of the school. Danny had a dazed look on his face.
“Is that why everyone calls me clueless?” He whispered.
“Clueless strikes again.”
Danny frowned up at him. “Oh what, you’re so observant, are you?”
Dash pushed open the front door of the school. It swung closed behind them. “More than you. I’m not even friends with Manson and I could see the blackened heart eyes she was giving you.”
Danny shuffled his backpack on his shoulders as they walked down the hall. “I’ve just never seen her that way. I don’t like her like that.”
Dash’s brows shot up on his forehead. “You don’t?”
Danny shook his head. He veered off to the right and Dash followed him to his locker. “She's just a friend to me.”
Dash leaned against the lockers while Danny tried to open his but his hand just ended up passing through the dial lock. He groaned.
“Maybe you should tell her that, then. Get it over with so she doesn’t try to kill anyone that even thinks to get close to you.”
Danny rolled his eyes. He finally got his locker open. “She wouldn’t kill anyone for getting close to me.”
“I don’t know.” Dash drawled. “She looked like she was gonna claw my eyes out back there. Like a creepy bat girl.”
Danny slammed his locker shut and turned to look at Dash. “You know, if we’re going to be doing whatever this is, I would appreciate you not making comments about my friends like that.”
“But she can talk to me like that?”
Danny frowned. “No. I literally told her there was no reason for her to be talking to you like that for having a simple conversation with me.”
“But she’s allowed to not like me?”
“That’s your own fault.” Danny rolled his eyes. “She has every right not to like you.”
Dash huffed. He was about to say something but then Danny started sinking into the floor again. Danny panickingly grabbed Dash’s forearm to prevent himself from sinking any further in. Dash pulled him up and when he set him back down, his feet were solid again. Dash looked around them and miraculously no one else in the hall saw what happened.
“I’m already over this.” Danny mumbled as he let go of Dash.
“Do you think you’ll get control over it eventually?” Dash asked him.
“Hopefully. Otherwise I’ll probably have no choice but to ask my parents for help. I really don’t want to do that though.”
“Maybe we could do some training? Or practice? You won’t get used to your powers if you just try to ignore them. If you try to do it, then maybe you’ll understand how to not do it.”
Danny nodded. “That makes sense. I guess that’s what we’ll have to do.”
They came to a split in the hallway. Danny looked up at him.
“Well, I’m going this way.” Danny hooked a thumb over his shoulder as he turned to face Dash.”
Dash nodded. “See you later. Hopefully you don’t drop anything today.”
“Hopefully. We’ll see.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Thirty four beakers.
Danny was finally getting ahold of his powers and all it took was thirty four dropped beakers and a lifetime ban from handling anything fragile while he was at school.
Aside from the frequent ghost sighting, things were starting to look up.
“Manson!”
If only Dash could learn to keep his thoughts to himself when it came to his friends.
“What is this garbage?”
He stomped up to where the three of them were sitting at their table in the cafeteria. Sam frowned at him.
“It’s not garbage! It’s recyclable organic matter.”
“It’s garbage.” Danny and Tucker said together.
Danny gasped out a breath of cold air. He looked around him. He saw a lunch lady ghost behind the food counter.
Dash followed his gaze to where the ghost was. He saw it just as she walked behind the wall.
Dash looked back at Sam and held up his plate of mud, pushing himself between Danny and his friends. “When I asked for a mud pie, I thought I was gonna get a mud pie. Not a literal mud pie!”
“Actually, it’s topsoil.”
“Whatever. Are you going to actually eat this garbage?”
Danny slipped away while Dash argued with his friends. Maybe Dash arguing with his friends could actually be useful for something for once.
He found somewhere to hide and transformed. He flew invisibly back to the cafeteria to the room the lunch ladies worked in. She was floating there looking around and the food and the lunch trays. She kind of looked like Tucker’s grandma.
She caught sight of him. Danny was ready to bolt as she floated up to him, but she wasn’t making any moves to attack him.
“Hello.” She said sweetly. “Can you help me? Today’s lunch should be meatloaf, but there’s not any here. Did someone change the menu?”
“Oh. Uh, yeah. They’re trying something new this week.”
Danny jumped back as her hair suddenly flamed up with her anger.
“The menu has been the same for fifty years!” She shouted at him.
“Wait-”
She levitated some plates and shot them at him. Danny dodged and caught them, avoiding getting hit. What was up with this lady? Why was the menu so important?
“The menu is sacred! Lunch is sacred!” She spoke in her sickly sweet voice again. “Would you like some cake?”
Danny looked at her, confused. “If you’re offering-”
“No one gets cake until the menu is changed back!”
She held her arms up and meat started flying towards her from every direction. It engulfed her and turned her into a meat monster.
“Meat is the most important food group! Without meat, you’ll remain puny and muscle-less!”
“I’m not arguing with you there.” Danny mumbled. He geared up for a kick but she grabbed his ankle and sent him flying across the room.
“I will restore the sanctity of the lunch menu! As soon as I find out who changed it!”
She disappeared in a tornado of meat.
The ghost was gone for now. Danny flew through the wall of the school and collapsed onto the ground. He transformed back and tried to push himself up. He was so tired. He’d never used his powers like that before. He groaned.
“Hey.”
Danny opened his eyes and looked up. Dash was standing there with his hand outstretched to Danny. He looked at it for a second before he reached up and grabbed it, pulling himself up with Dash’s help.
“Thanks. That ghost wiped me out.”
“No problem. I wanted to make sure that ghost didn’t kill you. I was trying to find you when I saw you fly through the wall and hit the ground out here.”
Danny nodded. “Yeah that wasn’t fun.” He looked down and saw that he was still holding onto Dash’s hand. He pulled it away and coughed. He hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “I should go check on Sam and Tucker though. I want to make sure they’re okay.”
“The ghost attack was pretty contained.” Dash said. “I’m sure they’re fine.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Ah.” Dash said. “That’s fair. Sorry about dragging out that argument with her.”
Danny shrugged and started walking away. “It distracted them long enough to let me slip away for a bit so. No harm done. At least not to me.”
“Good luck. Hopefully she doesn’t chew your head off.”
Danny pulled the door Dash had walked out open and stepped back inside the school, shaking the hand that had been holding Dash’s. He made his way through the hallways to find Sam and Tucker.
Sam slammed open the cafeteria doors as Danny stumbled down the hallway.
“I still can’t believe you’re talking to that meathead.” She shot at him with no preamble. “He literally antagonizes all of us. And then you ditch us to go meet up with him? I saw you two outside.”
“Sam-”
“What can you say to defend him?” She turned to look at him. “He beats you up all the time.”
“Not anymore.” Danny said.
“What?” Sam stopped walking.
“He doesn’t beat me up anymore.”
She didn’t say anything to that for a few moments. She shook her head. “I still don’t trust him. I don’t get how you could forgive him so easily.”
“I-” He stopped. Had he forgiven Dash?
Sam shook his head. “Let’s just get to class.”
Danny looked around them. “Where’s Tucker?”
She rolled her eyes. “He said he smelt meat so he went to track it down through the hallways. I don’t know if he’s found it yet.”
Danny scrunched up his nose. He knew exactly what meat Tucker was smelling. “He’s just gonna go eat whatever random mystery meat he finds?”
“Apparently.”
Danny didn’t respond after her last stilted reply. He followed behind her to their next class. When they walked in she went straight to her seat but he looked up and made eye contact with Dash. Dash gave him a questioning look and Danny just shrugged at him before sitting back down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash walked into the Nasty Burger. Football had just ended and he was hungry.
As he was walking to the counter he saw Danny sitting at a table with his friends. Dash smirked and walked over to them.
“Hey, nerds.” He placed a hand on the table and leaned his weight into it.
Sam rolled her eyes. “What do you want?”
“I just came to say hi to my favorite nerds. Is there a problem with that?”
“If we’re your favorite does that mean you’ll stop making fun of us?” Tucker asked thoughtfully. “Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad, Sam.”
“He’s not going to stop making fun of us, Tucker. The two of them are over there ‘trying to be friends.’” She said with air quotes. “And he still picks on us all the time.”
“I’ve tried talking to him about it, Sam, but he has a hard time with it.”
She shot Danny a look. “So why be friends with him? Why give him a chance? What do you see in him?”
“Just because he doesn’t like you-”
Sam scoffed. “Maybe you’re too insecure about your own crush on Danny.”
Danny whipped his head to look at her.
“What?” Dash laughed it off. “What are you talking about, Manson?”
“Yeah, Sam, what are you talking about?” Danny stared at her.
“Isn’t that what’s been happening this whole time?” She shot back at them. “He’s got some kind of weird feelings for you, he’s trying to get into your pants. Get on your good side. The pulling the girl’s pigtails because you like her bullshit? Don’t you see how weird his sudden change in actions towards you is?”
“What about your sudden change in actions?” Danny shot at her. “Do you realize how much of an asshole you’ve been lately?”
“Well, maybe if you weren’t friends with-”
Danny threw his hands up in the air. “God forbid if I make new friends! Or try to get along with someone instead of fighting! Or even make decisions for myself.”
“Danny-”
He cut her off and stood up. “No I’m-” He gasped and Dash saw his ghost sense fog out of his mouth. He frowned. “I’m going home. I need some time alone.” He turned and started walking towards the door.
“Danny!” Dash followed behind Danny out of the Nasty Burger.
The ghost was flying above the parking lot shooting ecto-blasts every which way.
The door slammed behind Dash and Danny turned his head to look at him.
“I need some time to think. Please just go back inside.”
He called on his transformation rings. Once they passed across his body he jumped up and flew into the air towards the ghost.
He watched Danny fight the ghost. He could tell he was angry. He was sloppy today.
Danny missed a dodge and got hit through the air by the ghost. He ended up turned facing the opposite direction so he didn’t see it start to charge at him.
Dash’s heart raced as he watched the ghost fly up to Danny. His heart stirred with feelings he wanted to push down. He didn’t need to put himself in danger for Danny. He didn’t feel that way. Danny didn’t feel that way about him.
But as the ghost got closer, Dash couldn’t help as the anxiety skyrocketed. His resolve broke and he picked up a big piece of asphalt off the ground and chucked it at the ghost. It turned to look at him.
Dash froze when the ghost’s eyes landed on him. What was he doing? Was Danny really that important to him now?
The ghost’s mouth filled up with ectoplasm and shot it towards.
He wouldn’t be able to move in-
Danny knocked Dash out of the way of the ecto-blast just in time. His arms wrapped around Dash’s chest and he flew back. The blast hit the ground where he’d been standing just a moment before.
Dash wrapped his arms around Danny as they slammed into the ground. He groaned as his back slid across the pavement and Danny looked down at him. He started feeling the back of Dash’s head, running his fingers through his hair.
Dash opened his eyes and looked up at Danny. He looked panicked. Like something was wrong, but he literally just prevented anything from being wrong.
“Dash, are you okay?”
He nodded. “Back hurts. Head’s fine.”
Danny leaned down and lay his head on Dash’s chest. Dash’s hands slid down Danny’s back and rested at his side and he closed his eyes again. He really didn’t like this whole ghost hunting thing.
The ghost roared behind them and Dash felt Danny’s head shoot back up.
“Shit! How did I forget about the ghost?”
Dash waved his hand above him. “Go. I’m fine. I’m just gonna get my bearings on the ground here.”
Dash listened as Danny finished fighting the ghost. It ended quickly and he could hear Danny’s footsteps as he walked to stand over Dash. Dash opened his eyes and his heart jumped at the way the sun shone on Danny’s white hair.
Danny held his hand out to Dash and he slowly reached up and grabbed it. Danny pulled him to his feet and looked at their hands. He let go a moment later.
“I think we need a new rule. No interfering with ghost attacks.”
“What?” Dash frowned at him. “That thing was about to gobble you.”
Danny crossed his arms. “Yeah, but if I didn’t get to you on time you could've gotten very badly hurt. I thought I knocked your head on the ground when I knocked you out of the way.”
Dash shrugged. “But you didn’t.”
“We can’t rely on that.” Danny looked away from him. “Just promise you won’t interfere like that again?”
Dash wasn’t sure if that was something he could actually do. But one look at the expression on Danny’s face told Dash he should at least try.
“Yeah. I promise.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny was nodding off in the middle of class. They were given time to work on their homework today but all Danny wanted to do was sleep. Having to fight all these ghosts all the time was making his life way too stressful. He wasn’t to sleep or get his homework done or even get to class on time. It was starting to get to him.
He yawned. While his eyes were shut he heard someone sit down next to him. He opened his eyes and saw Dash in the next seat over.
“You look tired.”
“Thanks, captain obvious. I didn’t realize.”
Dash shrugged. He slouched back in his seat. “Your friends are whispering about you back there.”
Danny turned and looked over his shoulder at where Sam and Tucker sat at the table in the back of the classroom. When they saw him looking Sam turned back around. Tucker just waved at him awkwardly.
Danny waved back at him. “I wish they’d just sit over here with me.”
Dash waved them off. “Who needs ‘em if they’re going to be treating you like that.”
Sam snorted behind them. Dash turned to look at her. “You got something to say Manson?”
“As if we could treat him any worse than anything you’ve ever done to him.”
Dash shrugged as he faced back towards the front of the classroom. “Hey, at least my character arc is positive. I’ve made amends.”
“You’ve hardly even done anything. What kind of character arc have you actually had?”
“I-” Dash started but then he stopped. His brows dropped down and he looked at Danny.
It hit Danny then that the only thing that really changed with Dash’s behavior was how he treated Danny. He didn’t pick on him anymore and he had cared about him, but he immediately resumed the same habits with both of Danny’s friends. Any time that Dash covered for Danny’s whereabouts during ghost fights, the only thing he could think to do was antagonize Sam and Tucker. He could never think up any actual excuses that wouldn’t cause more problems.
Danny missed part of the conversation. By the time he tuned back in, Sam was glaring at Dash from across the room.
“Just because he’d rather spend time with me than you-”
Danny’s ghost sense picked that moment to go off and he couldn’t think of a more convenient time for it to have happened. He stood up sharply and made his way out of the classroom quickly. The door slammed behind him as it closed and he was a couple steps down the hallway when the door opened behind him again.
“Danny, wait-”
“Why do you do that?” Danny turned and frowned at him.
“What?” Dash’s brows furrowed.
“Why do you dig at them like that? Make them feel bad about what’s going on?”
“Manson-” Dash started but Danny interrupted him.
“No. Sam and Tucker are mad at me because of you. They think I’m always ditching them to go hang out with you instead.”
“That’s not my fault!” Dash shouted back at him. “That’s the ghost’s fault!”
“But they don’t know that!” Danny stared at him. “All they know is that I’m on good terms with you now and I disappear all the time. They know something is up.”
Dash shuffled where he stood. He knew he was causing a rift between Danny and his friends. No matter how much he liked to antagonize them, he wasn’t proud of it. He wasn’t trying to put distance between them.
Danny sighed. “She keeps making jabs about us being together like it would be crazy. Like it would be the worst thing in the world.” Danny looked up at Dash. “I would like it if it wasn’t the craziest thing in the world. If it could actually be true. But with the way you treat my friends-” He shook his head.
Everything around Dash stopped. What?
“Danny-”
A blue mist came out of Danny’s mouth again. He shook his head.
“I gotta go.”
“Wait-”
Danny ran around the corner away from Dash.
“What did you do to him?”
Dash looked down the hallway to see Sam glaring at him. Tucker stood next to her.
“What?” He asked.
“He just ran away from you? What did you do to him?” She stomped her way over to him.
“Nothing!” Dash held his hands up in a surrendering motion. “We were just talking and he had to go-”
“We’re in the middle of class. What else would he need to be doing right now?”
“Yeah. Why would he be leaving?” Tucker asked.
“He, uh, went to-”
Sam ran past him and around the corner Danny went down, Tucker close on her heels. Dash followed behind them knowing Danny would already be gone but they didn’t stop there. They ran down the hallway and out the door leading outside.
“Danny?” She shouted. “Where are you?”
Dash was the only one that noticed Danny floating in the sky. He was fighting an animal type ghost.
“Uh, guys, I think we should probably go back inside.”
He pointed up at the sky and Sam and Tucker followed his finger. Sam’s eyes widened and she looked around the front of the school again.
“Danny!”
Phantom must’ve heard that one because he turned his head to look down at them. The ghost took that moment to hit Phantom, sending him flying through the air. Now he was much closer to them.
This ghost looked horrifying. It was animalistic but it looked uncannily like a person. Stringy, hair looking fur and teeth curved into a creepy smile.
“Get to safety! Now!” Phantom shouted down at them. He shot another ectoblast at the ghost.
“We have to find Danny first!” Sam shouted in a panic.
“He’s not out here.” Dash turned to go back inside the school. “Let’s just listen to Phantom and get somewhere safe.”
“That hallway doesn’t lead anywhere except outside! Where else could he be?” Sam asked, still turning around looking for Danny.
“He didn’t-”
“Danny!” Tucker shouted.
Dash growled. Why didn’t they just listen to him?
The ghost let out a shriek and Dash squeezed his eyes shut and covered his ears.
“Go inside, now!”
Dash’s eyes opened at Phantom’s shout. He looked back up into the air.
Dash stared at the ghost that was hovering in the air in front of them. It was cackling, its head thrown back into the air. It looked back at the ground directly at Sam and promptly shot an ectoblast out of its mouth. Dash saw Sam’s mouth open the slightest bit and everything slowed down. Danny turned, following the path of the blast but when he tried to fly towards her the ghost grabbed onto him, trapping him.
This was one of Danny’s best friends. She might hate Dash’s guts but Danny cared for her more than she hated him.
Without another thought, he pushed himself into a run and sprinted his way across the grass. He put himself between her and the ghost and grabbed her just as the blast hit him in the back.
He could hear Sam scream as they fell to the ground. Tucker was shouting from somewhere else but Dash couldn’t make much out past the ringing in his ears. He could hear scuffling in the air above him but it was muffled. The pain in his back radiated out and he could feel it in every jostle as someone shook his body.
Everything started fading away and Dash hoped he wasn’t dying. Distantly, he wondered if this is how Danny felt when he died in the portal.
The voices fell away and so did Dash.
~~~~~~~~~~
Slowly, the world came back to him. The first thing he noticed was the steady beeping nearby. The second thing was how bright the lights were against his eyelids.
He groaned and he heard some shuffling to his left. Someone placed a hand on his arm.
“Dash?”
His heart skipped a beat and he slowly pried his eyes open. He was laying in a bed in the hospital and Danny was standing to his left.
“Danny?” Dash croaked out. He tried to sit up but Danny pushed him back down against his pillows.
“You shouldn’t move too much. You got hit pretty bad.”
“You got the ghost though?” Dash asked.
“Yeah, he got the ghost.”
Sam and Tucker walked into the room and stood next to Danny.
“Uh, no I asked if Phantom got the-” Dash fumbled, trying to cover it up.
“It’s okay, Dash.” Danny said. “I told them. I thought it might be better if they knew.”
Dash looked at Danny’s two friends. They didn’t look like they were mad at him anymore. Or like they hated him. It was relieving that they knew. Danny didn’t have to keep avoiding them or keep secrets anymore.
“If we’d known in the first place we could’ve helped, you know.” Sam said, shooting both of them a look.
“Yeah. A team always needs a tech guy.” Tucker crossed his arms in mock frustration.
“But we do understand why you guys have been acting weird for the past couple months.” Sam turned to look at Dash. “Thank you for helping him even though you didn’t have to.”
Dash nodded, dumbfounded.
She stared at him a moment longer and pulled her gaze away. “And thank you for knocking me out of the way of that hit. Sorry it landed you here.”
Dash shook his head. “You’re Danny’s friends. You’re important to him. I didn’t want you to get hurt because of all this ghost stuff.”
“That’s a nice thought, but you should also try not to get yourself hurt.” Sam said.
“Yeah.” Danny frowned. “You promised.”
Dash shrugged. “We can call it karma.”
Tucker stepped forward. “We need a name.”
“A name?” Danny looked up at Tucker.
“Yeah, like a cool ghost hunting team name.” He waved his hands in the air. “What about Team Phantom?”
Sam snorted. “That sounds dumb.”
Tucker planted his hands on his hips. “Well, do you have any better ideas then?”
Danny’s hand slowly made his way down from his arm to his hand as they talked. He entwined his fingers with Dash’s and gave him a squeeze. Dash squeezed his hand back.
Everything would be okay. Everything was okay.
saiki k x reader (wc: 1k)
intrusive thoughts won on this one lads. [also, little reminder that saiki k is canonically asexual but coming from someone who’s on the ace/aro-spectrum who sometimes enjoys sex, i made it a little suggestive.] college au, duh.
“What? Big hotshot can’t join his friends for a hangout?”
“Hot-?” Saiki blows a short breath out of his nose as he adjusts his glasses. “Like I said, let's do it later.”
Nendo frowns. “Whyyy~”
“Must have another meeting with the president this time.” Hario you too?! “It’s best we let him go save the world again.”
“Why are you all being so bitter about this-“
“Come on! What could possibly be so important that you can’t hang out with your pals for once?” And now Kaido’s talking like Nendo. It’s best to cut this short. “We haven’t seen you in forever since that whole meteor thing! Do you really think you’re too good for us now?”
Saiki sighs.
There’s no way to go about saying this without getting haggled immediately afterwards. Especially given the extreme circumstance. He’s not stupid. He’s not shallow but he’s not blind either. Ever since this whole thing came about he’s been chiding himself on picking so outside of his current dispositions, making himself so open to attention and fighting that pesky feeling of being so okay with it. His first idea was to keep it a secret, but now with his feelings - new feelings in the way; he has to stop himself from making a show of it like someone he knows would. For a second he wonders if this was the kind of path that drove his parents to madness.
His cheeks grow hot as he thumbs over his phone in his hands, and at the very least, he can be thankful it’s just these four for now.
He wants to turn his head. “My… girlfriend-“
“Stop lying!”
He didn’t even let him get it out!
Torituska pouts from his chair across the room, sitting backwards on a computer seat that turns his expression mushy as he leans against it. “Seriously, if you’re gonna make up something, at least come up with a more believable lie.” Now you’re just being mean.
“Hah? What’s so unbelievable about me having a girlfriend?”
“You can hear yourself when you speak right?”
He’s gonna start scowling at this rate.
“Wait, hold on.” Hario repositions his back against the bed as he but’s in, raising his hands to interject. There’s a look on his face like he’s trying to placate the two. “Let’s not act like Saiki isn’t a spirited guy! He’s helpful and faithful to his ideals! And his personality isn’t even that bad.” You’re not helping.
“He doesn’t even own a porn mag. - And his search history is squeaky clean.“ What does one have to do with the other?
“If you have a girlfriend, why haven’t we met her yet?”
That would be a pretty good question. Had one quick glance along the room not make him shiver at the prospect of introducing them to his pride and joy. God, he’s starting to sound like his dad.
“Is she in our lectures? Does she go to this university? Does she know you exist?”
“Does she belong to the Dark Reunion?”
“Do you own a pair of her panties?”
Do you know what you’re asking him right now? Aside from a quick flick of his finger and a harsh eraser mark on Torituska’s forehead, Saiki turns his head toward the door in favor of a response. He can barely think under these conditions to begin with. No better that he knows his friends don’t plan on going anywhere even after he leaves his dorm for the night, and with his luck might even be here by morning. But that’s beside the fact. If these guys don’t believe he has a girlfriend, they’ll never believe what he’s leaving so prematurely to do.
Does he keep that box of condoms in his closet or his bathroom?
“What’s her name?”
Saiki’s lips twitch up as he reaches into that black box tucked near his extra blankets, half inclined to hum it as it rolls over his tongue. “_____.”
Hario’s mouth shapes into an astonished little “o” as Kaido tilts his head, too preoccupied with that foreign shade of rouge on his friend’s face to notice Torituska’s gone pale. “Sounds foreign?”
Saiki glances at Nendo’s puzzled expression and follows it to Torituska’s ghostly body. Decidedly he should leave before things get loud. “It is.”
“W-Wait you mean,” Hario blushes. That’s appropriate. “______ from the-“
“I’ll kill you!” That’s not.
The pointed finger keeps Tori frozen in the air but his strength is enough to make Saiki start to strain. Maybe it should stay a secret. He sighs at what’s sure to be some psychosis driven tirade that he really doesn’t have the time to sit through.
“What does a guy like you get off on trying to call dibs on my precious, _____?! Peon’s like you shouldn’t be able to speak her name let alone spread lies about being her boyfriend! What are you some kind of stalker or something?! A pervert?! Were you gonna stalk her outside of her house and steal her used gum out of the garbage near the gate?!” Why was that last part so specific…?
“______’s really smart and cool and beautiful…” Hario scratches behind his pinkening ears. “And she’s really good at fighting despite looking so soft all over. - If you’re really dating ______ then…. Well it’s certainly hard to believe…”
Saiki’s brow twitches a little. “I didn’t know you were all such big fans.”
“I don’t know her. But she definitely doesn’t seem like the type of person who’d date Saiki-kun.” Kaido adds.
Saiki’s phone buzzes in his hand as he sighs. And he doesn’t even have to look. He was supposed to be there minutes ago and knowing you you’ve probably gotten needier by the second. Although, that might not be so bad.
“I gotta go.” He pockets his phone.
Torituska knocks him back with a hard push as he breaks out of his bind. “You’re probably using your telepathic abilities to trick her into dating you! You sick-“
His condoms fall out of his pocket.
The silence that falls over the room is deafening as the five men freeze in place, eyes immediately pulled to the golden wrapper making waves on plastic as it's illuminated by the ceiling light overhead. And he’s sure that they’ve all collectively stopped breathing. Never mind that his friends now know what kind of heat he’s packing in his trousers, but there’s multiple of them. If the whole group was here he’d be half considering the most appropriate way to ditch town after something like this, but in this case he’s only considering the best way to get out of this situation before all hell breaks loose.
He’ll teleport. Like he should’ve minutes ago. Though this time with likely less precision.
Saiki reaches for the grouped up squares and staches them in his pocket, phasing his overnight bag into his hands as he does. “If I’m not back by noon, push the mail in.”
He glances at a lifeless Torituska. “Bye.”
He’s gone in a blink.
May I request: Tim bringing a (fairly) concussed Darry back to the gang?
WC; 1122
I never wrote in Tim's pov before, so apologies if it's out of character.
The rocks rolled under his feet, each step as sloppy and uncoordinated as the next. Usually this movement means one of two things in this neighbourhood; they got shitfaced or were jumped, and poor ol’ Darry seemed to be hit by the latter.
I wasn’t known for helping out just any unlucky soul, but this man had always found a way to lend me a hand without even knowing it himself. So when I saw him staggering home whilst taking my own trek home; I crossed the street and wrapped my arm around him.
He paid no mind to me it seemed, not even a slight hint of acknowledgement from him. It was strange, it sure was, Darry was one kind man, supposedly he once dropped everything and helped an old woman cross the street. He was stupid in the head, being like that in a town like this, and this night sure proved it.
His truck was parked up front once we made it back, and I wondered where the hell he was going, and what happened, but I kept my mouth shut as I helped him get up the front steps of the porch.
Judging by the hoots and yells from inside, none of them had a damn clue or worry about their precious guardian. Not that I’d blame them, that group of boys never seemed to get a damned break. First their parents, then Dallas n Johnny. How they could be jumping around and laughing was beyond me.
It all died down as the screen door slammed into the wall, making Darry wince, his body tensing up in my hold. Knowing I couldn’t do anything to stop his supposed headache, I kept on going inside, cursing under my breath when he started to rest his entire weight on me.
“Goddammit Curtis get up!” I tried shrugging him off, but alas.
My yell was what made them get up from the kitchen, and I was met with the faces of the boys Darry took care of as if all were his own.
Two-bit, Steve, Soda, and the runt, Ponyboy.
Hands all flew towards me, grabbing the older man from my grasp. WIth steady steps among Two-bit and Steve, they deposited Darry on the couch, his head reeling backwards with a groan.
“Tim. What happened to him?” The littlest Curtis asked me, his eyes huge and staring at his brother. Soda was gone off somewhere, before the crashes alerted me he was probably getting the aid kit.
My shoulders shrugged before my mind thought of a reply, as well as helping people, I also wasn’t known for being a big talker, unlike the wise-ass Keith and Dallas. “Just found ‘im trying to get over here. Seemed to me like he was about to pass out before I reached the door.”
Then I took in how Darry looked again.
His face was crumpled up in pain, his hair dishevelled to a certain degree, the starting signs of bruises on his face and arms, and not to mention that he was sporting a bloody nose, which he tried to wipe away.
It wasn’t a pretty sight; this realisation only came to me in the bright lights of the sitting room. It made me wonder if I should’ve taken him to my own house and cleaned him up a bit before getting his sorry ass home. Would’ve saved them from worrying so much.
Sodapop then blocked my view, immediately getting to work. He cleaned up cuts and scratches I didn’t even realise were there, making me more inquisitive about Darry’s whereabouts more than ever. Steve must’ve thought the same thing, his voice pulling me out of the worry I didn’t know I was feeling.
“Where the hell did you go off to? We thought you were sleeping.” His tone was short and snippy, as per usual, but there was a rare hint of care in it as well. I didn’t know much about him other than his great car skills, but he’d taught Dallas how to steal hubcaps and I’ll forever hate that fact. Too many of my wheels went without hubcaps whenever we’d get in any kind of scrap.
By then, Ponyboy was gone from my side and already placed a glass of water and a bottle of pills on the table. He would’ve been hanging out with Curly if he wasn’t in the reformatory, there was no doubt in my mind about that. That stupid kid just had a liking to the Curtis; I couldn’t put my finger onto why.
It took around two minutes for me to realise I overstayed my welcome; my duty was solely just to bring Darry home, not to pace around like a man in a hospital waiting room, wondering if his buddy would have to stay the night for observation or not.
My shoes squeaked as I turned my heel, ignoring the nagging voice in my head that told me to stay. I wasn’t planning on stickin’ around at all, but then Darry had to open his dumb mouth and call out my name. It was more like a quiet whine, but I heard it all the same.
So I stayed.
I felt like an odd one out amongst them all, like a puzzle piece from a different box that got mixed up. They all fit in together, albeit they were missing a couple of their own pieces. The three brothers were all huddled up on the couch, the other two on the floor nearby.
Lights were turned off, leaving only the side lamp on as they coaxed Darry enough to get the damn painkillers and keep him awake by keeping the television on, the sound just high enough to keep him from sleeping. He was fighting it; I could tell from the bopping of his head, his baby brother falling asleep on his shoulder probably didn’t help either.
Stretching my legs out from the recliner, I decided it was finally time for me to leave, no amount of begging keeping me this time. The cold wind ran shivers down my spine once I opened up the door, and when I took one glance back in the sitting room, I was met with the hazy eyes of Darrel.
His head bowed down slightly, obviously causing him some discomfort as his eyes crinkled, and his scowl deepened. He was giving me thanks despite his damn concussion.
I bit back my tongue, I wasn’t about to call a man who can barely walk stupid. So instead, I dipped my head back to him and left.
There was only one question on my mind as I kicked a rock across the road; How did good ol’ Darry get hurt?
no because you guys know that trend on tiktok right now with ceilings by lizzy mcalpine where they clip dramatic running scenes from movies or tv shows? imagine that with you and jj
wc: 700+
jj and his friends have been missing for a month. he had swung by your place before he had disappeared, it was only after he was gone did you realize the undertones in your last conversation. he didn’t say anything that was cause for concern in the moment but things made sense now, the dots had lined up.
he had stood you up on every plan in the past few weeks, every rain check of a plan the two of you had to partake in whatever crazy shit he and the pogues got up to.
he told you he was sorry, cupped your cheeks and kissed you. told you he couldn’t explain right now but he would when he got back. when he got back he’d tell you everything. and then he left.
it was hard. you struggled with it. you wondered if you had said or done anything different if he would have stayed. if things would be different, maybe if you had your boyfriend and his friends who’ve you come to adore over the time you’ve spent with jj wouldn't be missing.
the authorities have no leads on where they might be. you don’t even know if they’re actually looking or if they share scripts of what to say to concerned family members and civilians to get them to go home and leave them alone so they can get 'their real work done'.
Keep reading
you and your parents have taken a trip to the mainland to visit your family  for a couple of days to get you off the island, away from the constant reminder that you don’t know if jj is alive or not
and when the pogues return to kildare the first place he goes is to your house. he bounds up your porch, taking two steps at a time, and slams his closed fist on your front door. he’s consumed by the thought of seeing you again that he didn't notice the family car isn’t in the driveway. he doesn’t have a phone, he imagines it’s somewhere at the bottom of the ocean, there’s no way for him to tell you that he’s back and that he’s okay. so he’s forced to wait and hope he can see you before this treasure hunting business takes him away from you again
picture it — you’re driving back home, your parents are talking in the front seat but you can’t bring yourself to pay attention to what they’re saying. you’re nearly zoned out, you’re barely comprehending what you’re seeing out the window until you see the twinkie.
john b’s old beat up van parked on the side of the road, the last you heard it was sitting in the police compound. your body immediately reacts, your spine straightens and you twist to look out the window.
the words fall out of your mouth so fast it doesn’t register to your parents the first time you say it.
“i'm sorry, say that again? i didn't hear you.”
“stop the car!”
the car rolls to a stop and you're out before the headlights fade off. they're too far to hear what they're talking about but it's them. there's no doubt about it.
jj is locked onto his conversation with john b, his hands wave dramatically in the air. his skin looks tanner, his blond locks of hair seem lighter than the last time you seen him. your eyes well up and your heart squeezes in your chest.
you call out his name and he stills. and all it takes is one look and your feet start to move. your pace is slow at first, your body is still reacting by the time you call out to him again.
you're a football field away from each other and even though jj is walking towards you, his stride matching your own, there's too much space between you. you break out into a full run and he does the same. you collide somewhere in the middle, his arms wrap around your torso and yours snare around his shoulders. you trip over your own feet and jj is stumbling backwards from the impact, you're clinging to each other like a lifeline, like if you let your grip loosen he'll slip from your hands like sand.  one of his hand slips up to cup the back of your neck while the other slips under the back of your shirt.
you don't need to know what he's done, you don't need to know where he's been. you just need to be able to hold him like this for as long as you need to. forever if you have to.
you don't need to know what he's done, you don't need to know where he's been. you just need to be able to hold him like this for as long as you need to. forever if you have to.
You’re spiderman?! Peter parker/ Spiderman x Venom! Reader pt.2
A/n: I did write more lol
part one here.
Rain fell on your face as you ran through the alleyways that were all too familiar to you. Once again you were bait to catch Venom’s food. You were wearing an outfit not suitable for the rain at all- Venom’s idea- and as you walked around waiting for some creep to show up you failed to see the muggers on the other side. They’d just finished killing some dude when you caught their attention.
“FUCK THIS VENOM I HATE THIS PART.” You gasped as you turned a corner to catch your breath.
“STOP WHINING (Y/N) THIS IS THE FUN PART.” He called out as he took over your body, black tendrils wrapping around your arms and legs as your body became his. You were taller now, Venom flexing your body as you waited for the criminals. You’ve gotten used to your brain shutting off when Venom was in his feeding frenzy, only influencing him when you didn’t want him to go too far.
As the criminals rounded the corner their faces morphed into terrified ones. “What the hell is that..” One of them let out as he shifted to run. Before the two criminals could get away, Venom let out a roar, flaring his sharp teeth as he picked them up with his claw. He didn’t hesitate to bite his head off, the blood spurting out. You weren’t sure why he liked the taste of  brains. He chewed off the other guy’s head as well- dropping both of their lifeless bodies onto the floor.
“HEY! Finish your food!”  You scolded.  You were trying to get Venom to be less wasteful. He only needed the brains, but you were teaching him to not be a picky eater, plus it helped in the long run since it didn’t leave much evidence.
“I DON’T LIKE THE OTHER BITS THEY’RE TOO CHEWY.” He protested.
“You eat literal BRAINS, now clean up after yourself.” With a groan the symbiote finished off the criminals, the only thing left behind were blood splatters. “See that wasn’t too bad.”
When the two of you were done feeding, you walked back to your home, still in Venom’s body. The night was surprisingly tame! Only a few cop cars here and there trying to run you over. Venom retracted back once you reached the safety of your home. As you crawled into your window you were stopped when you spotted a certain spider latched onto your building.
“What are you doing here?” You called out.
“I could ask you the same thing.” He crawled down to meet you.
“I live here.”
“Right- well I was just visiting.” He replied through the mask.
“How do you know where I live?” God you couldn’t believe this guy had your address.
“Followed you home yesterday.” He said casually as the rain drops slid off his suit and onto your forehead. “Can I come in?” He raised his brows which made his mask look interrogative.
“STALKERRRRR.” Venom called out. “Yeah fine whatever just- be quiet ok?” Your parents were already suspicious enough of venom, you didn’t need to give them a reason to believe they were right about you sneaking boys in the room.
Stepping backward you allowed Peter to climb his way into your room, his hands sticking to the ceiling as he crawled into the center. “So are you just going to stay up there?”
“Yeah- don’t want to get too close in case you bite.” He commented playfully.
“WE DO BITE.” Venom’s face covered yours as he licked his teeth.
“Yeah see him- he’s the reason I’m up here.” He said cautiously.
“Venom stop that. He’s our fri- classmate.”  Venom groaned, licking Peter’s masked face before retracting back into you. “DAMN YOU FOR PROHIBITING THIS DELICIOUS MIDNIGHT SNACK.”
“You just ate.” You rolled your eyes.
“Aww so we’re not friends? Cold (Y/n)- harsh, even after I helped you with chemistry.” He acted hurt, placing a hand on his chest, still sticking to the ceiling.
“So why are you here?” You asked again, taking a towel off your door’s hangers, using it to pat yourself dry.
Peter took his masks off, revealing his own wet hair. You envied how long his lashes were, plotting to rip them out in his sleep and attach them to your own. Even through you hated to admit it- Peter Parker looked fucking hot in his hero suit. The red and blue- webbed suit hugged him in all the right places. You only wished he’d turn around. “Can we talk?”
“About?” You grew self conscious realizing you were still in that stupid outfit Venom had picked out for you. “Wait- I’m gonna change first.” You said. “Can you by chance like- wait outside orrr…” “AND YOU SAY I’M RUDE. (Y/N) IT’S RAINING! WE CAN’T LET OUR POOR GUEST GET SOAKED. WHAT IF HE CATCHES A COLD? HE WON’T TASTE AS GOOD THEN.” The alien protested.
“Yeah no problem- I’ll wait outside.” Peter said, throwing a web out the window and catching himself with it.
Taking a  breath of relief you let out a tiny fart, one you’ve been holding in the whole time. You then raided your dressers for some comfortable clothes, but not ones you were too attached with since you’d shower after Peter was gone. You landed on some basketball shorts and an oversized shirt. You then tidied up a bit, hoping he hadn’t seen all the dirty clothes sprawled around your room. Venom helped discard the trash that lingered, leaving your room presentable.
“Alright, you can come in.” You whisper shouted to Peter, sticking your head out the window.
At the sound of your voice the boy had already been pummling towards you, assuming you wouldn’t be standing directly in front of the window. He landed into you knocking the wind out of you. Venom lent a hand, catching you both before you could make a loud thud on the floor and wake your parents. He shook you around, hoping to help you catch your breath.
“Oh my god (Y/n) I’m sorry!” He rushed to your side, his gloved hands taking hold of your arm as he tried to help. You didn’t say anything since you were wheezing. Just stuck your thumb out for him.
“I thought you were out of the way- I would’ve just crawled in, I'm so sorry.” He continued to freak out.
“FOOLISH BOY LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID TO MY DARLING!” Venom’s face was close to Peter's, his eyes angry.
“I’m.. wheeze fine wheeze cough.” You protested.
As you caught your breath Peter helped you to your bed where you took a seat. Waving your hand you signaled for him to start talking. His kind expression returned as he stood in front of you, unsure if he could sit.
“Right well I thought we’d get to know each other.” He smiled, “You know, get well-acquainted.
“HE’S SCARED YOU’RE GOING TO SPILL HIS SECRET. I CAN SMELL THE FEAR.” Venom let out a guttural noise, his figure once again sizing up Peter.
Trusting his judgment you let out a groan. “Is that why you’ve been following me? I’m not gonna snitch on you Peter. I made a promise. Plus- you know my secret.” His expression fell, you could tell he was feeling a bit ashamed.
“Sorry it’s just… this is the first time this has happened. I mean my own Aunt May doesn’t know about this.” He explained.
“Yeah I get you,.. It’s hard trying to keep something so big a secret. How are you even managing?” He had to be tired if not annoyed. How could someone keep up a double life as Spider-man? Only a few weeks ago you saw him on the news get flung from the sky and crashing into a building. Days before that he was on fire as a result of a bank robbery gone destructive.
His thin lips curved into a smile. You two sat in silence before he spoke up again. “By the way- I wanted to have a chat about your eating habits.”
“Eating habits?” You rolled your eyes. “Look- I already told you. I don’t eat brains.” You paused. “Venom does.”
He shot you a look.
“He needs them to survive. I’m not gonna deprive an organism that makes me into a superior version of myself of food.” Shrugging off his remarks you turned to the other side.
“(Y/n) I can’t have you going around killing innocent people. There’s already a number of people who think that Venom is Spiderman turned evil.” Peter decided to take a seat next to you but stood up when you looked at him weirdly.
“First of all, they’re not innocent people ok? I made that very clear with Venom when we got into this relationship. Second of all, we are way cooler than you.” You scoffed.
“Still. It’s unethical to kill people, that practically puts you in the rank with murders and the bad guys I help lock up.”  Ok, that struck a chord with you.
“WHAT DID YOU CALL US?!” He took over your body once again. “WE DO NOT NEED TO HEAR YOUR LECTURE MORSEL. AT LEAST WE CAUSE MINIMAL DESTRUCTION.”
Peter stepped back. It was so trippy to see his classmate get overrun by an Alien. He stood away, still not comfortable enough with venom to predict his unpredictability. His boots squeaked on the floor as he looked up at you.
“YOU’RE FORTUNATE THAT MY PET HAS PUT YOU OFF LIMITS.” He continued, stepping closer to the boy who was breathing shallowly now. As Venom’s temperament came to a high, the door swung open. As fast as light- both Venom and Peter hid. Peter hiding in a corner that so happened to be shielded by your closet wall, Venom retracting into you, leaving you on the floor.
“(Y/n)? What in the goddamned hell are you doing up?” Your mother asked, her tired face wrinkled with anger.
“I was uh practicing lines for a play.” The lie you had gone with to distract your Parent’s from the fact that there was an Alien living inside of you was that you were in Drama- playing a character that so happened to use a monster voice. Peter stifled a laugh as he heard your voice go from Venom’s baritone to your soft one.
“Do you see what time it is?” She began.
“It’s..”
“Do you see  what time it is (y/n)?” She raised an angry brow.
“!1:30…” Reluctantly you responded,
“Exactly go to- what the!” Her eyes landed on your open window. Your room smelled like rain. “Why the hell is the window open? You’re gonna get sick!” She grumbled as she went over to close it.
Your asshole clenched as you prayed that she didn’t see Peter on your ceiling. Luckily for you he maneuvered his way across quietly, escaping from her field of vision, repeating the process when your mother turned back to leave your room. “You better be in bed by 12.” She warned.
“But I still have to shower still.”
“12! (y/n).”
When the coast was clear Peter detached himself from the ceiling.
“Well she’s pleasant.” He said putting his mask back on. He took her intrusion as a sign to leave, not wanting to risk you getting in trouble. “We can talk about morals and ethics another day.” He said as he opened your window to leave.
“That’s it? You’re leaving?”
He nodded. “Night (y/n), see you in chem tomorrow.” He jumped off, his webs shooting onto a building.
With an annoyed expression you watched from your window.
“WHAT A PRICK.”
Frame - The Secret Portal Part One (Rose POV)
I let out a high-pitched grunt of annoyance before stomping off to my room. A part of me knew she was right. I should’ve brought my keys as a backup plan. She wasn't reliable anyway. As I opened the door to my room, I glanced back at my mother as she sat back on the couch, watching the telenovela that was playing. I turned away, slamming the door to my room behind me, hoping my mother would tell me I wasn't allowed to do that. But there was no correction. I tossed my backpack to the side harshly. It slammed into the wall and knocked a picture frame down to the floor. I bent down and picked quickly hung it back up so I wouldn’t have to look at my three-month-old self in my mom’s smiling arms as my smiling dad had his arm wrapped around her. My room was the only splash of color in this house—the only part of my house that deserved to be called home. My art supplies got their own shelf and were organized the way I want. My projects I kept in my sketchbook, which I never showed my mom. She didn’t like the way I decorated my room or any of my designs. She loved to tell me I needed to apply myself to school as much as my art. But even if I did apply myself more in school, she wouldn’t notice. I collapsed onto my bed and screamed into the pillow, then lay there for a couple of minutes, taking in the scent.
Vain Cocky (closest synonym) - from The Secret Portal Part One (Gwen POV)
I’d overheard Dr. Moon say something about “powers,” so maybe that’s what he meant. It sounded strange, but Akash was floating. Dr. Moon said that I could be showing “several” abilities, so that was weird, too. Did I have a power? Context alone indicated that. They didn’t see me…. My mind spun, so I looked back at Akash as I followed him down the next hall. At first, I thought he was being cocky and showing off his strange, supernatural ability, but that demeanor seemed only a façade—nothing more. Maybe flying was simply that fun. Or maybe I was distracted because he was cute, but I didn’t think I was that shallow. “So, Gwen,” Akash said, turning around to fly backward. “Where’re you from?” “Clear Lake City,” I said. “Texas.” Akash smiled. “Southlake. Up near Dallas. How cool is it we’re both from Texas?” I stared at him. “You’re not from here?” I didn’t exactly know where here was, but all the same, I could figure I wasn’t in Texas anymore. Akash stopped mid-flight, causing me to abruptly halt. “No. Dr. Moon and Dr. Asghar only take Alii from our side. Ceteri. That’s what they call it.” He raised his eyebrow. “Didn’t they tell you?” “No. They kidnapped us and locked us in this purple-glowing-thing. The dampener? Is that what you said?” Akash nodded. “What did they do?” Akash rolled his eyes. “Yeah, that’s how they got me and my buddy, Robbie. They’re actually okay once you get to know them. Questionable methods, but their hearts, I know how it sounds, are in the right place. Hey, what powers do you have?” “Powers?” I repeated. My thought was right. “Yeah,” said Akash. “You’re Alii, aren’t you?” “I have no idea what you’re saying,” I admitted. “What does Alii mean? One of the doctors mentioned that. Is it Latin?” Akash scrunched his eyebrows. “You don’t know? Dr. Asghar never releases anyone unless they’ve been briefed.” “Oh, I, uh, sorta escaped,” I stuttered. Akash stared at me. “You got away from them?” I nodded, and to my surprise, Akash laughed, clapping his hands together. “I knew someone would do it one day! Dr. Asghar must be pissed!”
(Mi)Stake - from The Secret Portal Part One (Lexi POV)
I grunted as a sudden force ran into me, knocking me to the ground. I yelped and scrambled out from underneath the person and clambered to my feet, trembling from the unexpected touch. “Am I that repulsive to you?” a teasing voice said. I turned to look at the person who ran into me: a teenage boy a year or so older than me. It took me a second to collect myself. “No,” I said as he stood. “It just… freaked me out.” The boy was about average height for his age and had a slim, but fit, frame. He had thick dark hair framing his face and big, dark eyes framed by wire-thin glasses. His hair was cut relatively short, but his bangs were somewhat long—parted on the right. He laughed. “Freaked me out, too.” He crossed his arms. “So… are you one of Gwen’s friends?” “You know Gwen?” I asked, standing in surprise. “What is she doing here?” “Sorta, I met her an hour… and maybe a half ago, I dunno what time it is—-passed out due to,” he gestured to the charred walls, “the explosion.” “Wait, are you Robert Stafford?” “No, actually, I’m Stobert Rafford—common mistake.” I blinked. The boy kept eye contact with a straight face. His mouth twitched. The delay stopped as I cachinnated—that was a fun word. The boy joined in. “Sorry, that was stupid.” “No, no, it wasn't,” I said as I tried to compose myself. “Yeah, it was, I’m laughing at my own joke.” “Okay, fine, it was stupid, but that’s why it was funny.” He smiled, dark eyes shining. “Finally, someone gets it!”
Fix - from The Secret Portal Part One (Akash POV)
SORARA’s voice announced the Recruits entering the door, and I instinctively fixed my cap to make sure it was on correctly. “—way too bright,” Lexi was saying as she turned the corner into the living room. “You’ll melt your retinas.” “I need to be blinded by the screen,” Gwen was saying. “If I’m not, it’s too dark.” “I’m starting to see why you needed glasses.” Gwen laughed, and her eyes landed on mine, now slightly obscured by new rectangular black glasses. I instinctively raised my hand to rub it through my hair but it ended up hitting the hat instead, pushing it slightly back. I tried to fix it again. Of course, Gwen’s new fashion statement looks cute while I look like the biggest dork on the planet. She smiled at me. I raised my hand in greeting. “Robbie!” Lexi said, snapping me back. “Let me see your phone!” “Huh? Okay.” Robbie shifted to reach into his pocket to pull out his phone. He handed it to her but she shook her head. “Just turn it on and show me the screen.” Robbie did as told, causing Lexi to laugh triumphantly. “Ha! That’s not that bright, and he wears glasses.” Gwen shrugged.
can you write a sugawara x male reader who is a tall, tatted up, long haired, scary looking, metalhead who no one likes, but is actual really calm and protective and loving towards suga.
aaaa first request!! so excited to write it <33
i didn’t know how tall you wanted him so i just made him around 6’3-6’6
The Two Times Everyone Realized He Was a Sweetheart and The One Time He Proved It
The class was filled with laughter, giggling, and loud chatter. Only for it to be silenced by a very tall male entering. The boy was fairly built, and was totally all leg. He was taller than most boys, but he was quieter than all. The boy had tats on his neck, hands, legs, anywhere possible. He even had a sleeve full of them! The male had long (h/c) soft hair, though it was messy and looked to be as if he had just woken up(which he had)—there was no need to suspect that he had ANYTHING to do with Sugawara Koushi in the volleyball club.
The males gaze was harsh and cruel while sugawara’s was soft and loving. The two were polar opposites. Both were seen differently by all, including teachers. The boy rolled his eyes, and turned up the volume on his headphones. He was listening to Fuel by Metallica, and anyone who sat next to him could hear it. As he sat down, he was met with nasty and scared looks.
As he grew up, he realized that most kids didn’t like him. (M/n) had learned to be independent and do a lot alone. His parents did help quite a bit, but he got to the age where they stopped parenting. He started to learn how to fend for himself. He learned how to clean, cook, do laundry(which was surprisingly the hardest for him to learn). He brought out his bento box and started to snack on a meat bun, while he ignored all the whispers and looks geared towards him.
A big part of his life was learning to let things go and to ignore them. He hoped no other kid had this experience in school as he gazed out the window. He saved the seat next to him for his beloved boyfriend, Koushi. The two sat together in every class they had with each other, but even then no one suspected they were dating.
Koushi was too kind to be with the “freaky devil boy” as they called him. The boy wasn’t a freaky devil, it was just his style, something he enjoyed that was shunned by all his classmates. He heard his name being called, and he raised an eyebrow.
Seeing Koushi, he lightly grinned, and got up to hug him—something new. He’d never initiate any PDA in school. Today he was craving it though. Some people scurried to their seats, not wanting to be toe to toe with the freaky devil boy.
Koushi’s eyes widened as (m/n) wrapped his arms around his waist. Koushi hesitated as he hugged him back, kissing (m/n)’s cheek causing his ears to heat up. koushi chuckled and (m/n) smiled. He lead koushi to his seat, and pulled out his chair for him.
“Oh why, thank you (M/n)” Koushi giggled, while placing his bag down.
“Of course prince” (M/n) said, pushing koushis chair in and sitting down in his own.
That was the first time everyone realized (m/n) was a sweetheart.
Koushi had been in the gym for volleyball practice while (M/n) said he would pick him up afterwards. the male was setting the ball to Asahi, as he heard the door screech open. Turning around, he saw (M/n), though what he didn’t see was a volleyball hurling straight towards his face. As the ball hit his face he fell backwards, and heard loud footsteps. Seeing (M/n) next to him, he calmed down a little. He saw (M/n)’s hand reaching up to his face, and as he tasted blood, (M/n)’s hand had rubbed it off.
“Someone get a tissue! in the meantime, Kou you need to put ur head back, so it doesn’t keep bleeding love.”
Koushi had been put into a small shock, and it was all happening so fast. (m/n) had given him the tissue, and laid koushi’s head on his lap to stop the bleeding quickly.
“Who hit him.” (m/n) cold gaze narrowed out at the two people who were also in a state of shock. The two being Kageyama and Hinata, they started to fuss. Kageyama started yelling and pointing at Hinata, while Hinata was sputtering and stuttering up a storm.
“Whatever, it’s fine. just be careful next time.” (m/n) flicked his dangerously dim eyes between both the boys causing them to bow and sputter apologies.
“Baby are you okay?” The male asked the male leaning in his lap.
“I’m fine, it happens all the time (m/n)”
The male frowned at the thought of koushi being hurt all the time. He didn’t like that one bit. He shook himself out of his own thoughts, and grabbed Koushi’s head, bringing them both up to their feet.
“Hey! Aren’t you that freaky kid from Class 4?” Tanaka and Noya had got all up in the boys face, asking him “what he had done to their setter” and what “his business” was with him. the male just shook his head and grabbed Koushi, and kissed the tip of his head and the bridge of his nose. He ignored the gasps and grumbles from the team(besides Asahi and Daichi).
“(M/n)! (M/n)! I’m fine, stop” he laughed, as the males kisses were becoming ticklish. Koushi hugged the boy and kissed his lips. “You missed that spot.” The other male looked away with a fine line of blush on his skin causing him to laugh.
“Sorry—This is my boyfriend (M/n), and (M/n) this is my volleyball club.” The male pointed between (M/n) and the team. M/N hummed, and nodded towards them with a small wave.
That was the second time everyone realized that (M/n) was a sweetheart.
Koushi had been having a bad week, he had multiple exams and multiple tests. Thee volleyball teams vibe was off due to Hinata and Kageyama odd bickers. The team was nervous, they had championships and Koushi was one more problem away from breaking down. (M/n) had been planning a surprise for Koushi, that he knew would make him feel better.
During volleyball practice, Koushi took a break and was going to step outside for some air. Before he could reach to open the door, it opened itself, and the sight he saw brought tears to his eyes.
(M/n) had actually styled his hair. He had a black and red tuxedo on. He was wearing black polished dress shoes, and had a big bouquet of flowers in his hand. Koushi took notice that it was his favorite flowers in the bouquet.
Koushi’s brought his hand up to his face, as (M/n) smiled and laughed while opening his arms. The team was in utter shock, but they thought that this was so cute. and it was. Koushi and (M/N) swayed as they hugged each other, soaking in each other’s love and warmth.
“I love you soso much Kou.” (M/n) whispered while kissing him on the lips.
“I love you more you big idiot” Koushi laughed.
And that was the one time (M/n) proved he was a sweetheart.
aaaa, hope u enjoyed this, i tried to follow your description best as i could. i enjoyed writing this a lot. it gave me something to do, plus helped my writers block <3
thank you so much.
Right in the middle of town, a block or two away from where the city pool is, a new ice skating rink was built inside of what was once one of the two roller skating rinks in town. The roller rink that remains open is a commercialized rink, which outlasted some poor old man’s creaky floored rink. It was shut down after a floorboard sprung out of place and injured a young girl. An ice skating rink replaced the original rink nearly two years afterwards.
And you, for one, were very excited to go.
You’d been ice skating a few times in your life. Despite this being the only rink located near Hawkins, you and your parents had visited places out of town where you excitedly learned how to skate. It was quite similar to roller skating, though with more chance of substantial injuries. You’d managed to slip but with nothing more than a twisted ankle. Needless to say you were quick to convince Steve to try out this new rink.
“I heard some girl died in that place a few years ago,” Steve inquired, shaking his head in disagreement to your convincing.
“No she didn’t! She landed herself a trip to a hospital because of a squeaky floorboard. As far as I’m concerned she’s kicking,” You fired back, rolling your eyes at him. You were almost desperate to go ice skating with him. You knew how much he disliked the cold, though you kept insisting that he’d be warm in the new jacket you’d gotten him.
Steve tried making up excuse after excuse as to why he couldn’t go. The building gives him bad vibes, he’ll get cold, he hates driving during the Winter. Even when you pointed out that there was no ice on the streets, he only huffed. However, with a little prying, you finally got the answer you needed out of him.
“Fine, you wanna know why I don’t want to go? I have no clue how to skate.”
Instantly, you started to giggle at him. You didn’t mean to, but you couldn’t help it. It seemed like such a silly thing to worry about! His face fell to a frown, causing you to stop yourself quickly. He seemed upset.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh at you,” You assured, waving your hands around. “I’ll teach you!”
“I don’t need you to teach me,” Steve protested, crossing his arms. His eyes wouldn’t meet yours, and you knew immediately why he didn’t want you to. You just knew he feels embarrassed over it.
“Sweetheart, it’s okay! I’m a very good teacher. You’ll learn quick!”
After a few more words and a lot of small kisses later, Steve finally caved in to going ice skating with you. With the way you reacted to him saying yes, he was unsure why he ever said no in the first place. Your pure giddiness was like heaven to him.
Steve’s reasoning came flooded back to him the moment he started tying the laces up on the skates he rented. The blades were thin, so thin that he was unsure as to how they’d hold him up. He was sure they’d barely hold up a 10 year hold, let alone him. He watched as you gracefully got to your feet, immediately balancing yourself. You watched him and waited patiently as he finished tying his laces, noticing the worry in his eyes almost immediately.
You held out your gentle hands for him, waiting expectantly for him to grab them. Reluctantly, he did, letting you help him stand up. Steve was a wobbling mess in an instant. His once firmly place ankles rolled around quickly until he found his footing. He grumbled on about how he hates this as he stands up straight. Slowly, you began to walk backwards, pulling him along with you. He took slow steps along with you, wobbling with every last one of them.
You’d finally found your way to the opening, and he looked a little miserable.
“What if I fall?” Steve questioned, giving you a doe eyes look.
“I’ll fall with you,” You stated simply.
You stepped out gently onto the ice, gliding almost perfectly against it. His eyes studied the way you stepped on, as if trying to memorize and replicate exactly what you’d just done. He didn’t want to mess up in front of you, even if it was truly not a big deal.
“Just step on, okay?” You began to talk him through it. “Dont think too much, or you’ll freak yourself out and flail around. Line the blades up to the ground and step softly. Point your toes in a little like mine, but not too much. It’ll help with balance.”
You went on to further explain that if he were to walk on with feet facing completely forward, he’d fall straight into a split. With that visual, he winced, making a mental note of that. Gently, he finally stepped onto the ice with you just like you told him too. He was wobbly as expected, though he didn’t fall. His hands still gripped yours tightly.
Steve’s eyes lit up immediately. He was on the ice, and he didn’t fall! Despite being a little spooked by a few eighth graders gliding past him fast and nearly knocking into him, he seemed proud of himself.
“Do you think you’re ready to move?” You questioned, smiling at him softly. He nodded quickly, smiling back at you. Just as slow as before, you began to glide backwards, guiding Steve forward with both of your hands on his. As if on cue, he started to wobble almost excessively. He started to freak himself out. He quickly grabbed a hold of the side of the rink, luckily catching himself and you before you both wiped out.
“Try bending your knees a little, kinda like when you’re up to bat for baseball.”
Steve’s knees bent slightly and slowly to make sure he didn’t topple, adjusting his feet again as you two start moving. He seemed slightly horrified as you moved you guys on the slick ice. His balance was better this time, though he still seemed slightly wobbly. You thought this was the best time to let go of his hands.
Slowly, you pried your hands from his tight grip, watching him as he glides on his own. Steve’s face moved to a smile, immediately laughing as he moves on his own. You turned yourself around so that you’re both facing forward, turning your head to look at him as you speak.
“Watch how my feet move against the ice,” you call out gently, only beginning to move once you received a nod and a thumbs up from Steve, whose hands were out in front of him for balance. He tried to move like you did, failing almost immediately as he wipes out into the ice. As if on instinct, his hand gripped yours, dragging you down with him just like you promised.
You giggled immediately on impact, falling on top of your boyfriend, who seemed bewildered. Steve, who originally wanted to roll his eyes at you again, laughed instead. His hands moved to rest on your hips, staring straight into your tear-brimmed eyes. Once you’d caught your breath, his lips met yours in a soft kiss. His lips were about as cold as his fingertips, but you didn’t mind in the slightest.
Steve pulled back slowly, his lips lingering barely against yours for a few seconds. His eyes met yours again, which were now gleaming with love. He couldn’t help but smile at you again.
“Aren’t you happy you came now?” You prodded, helping yourself up and steadying, before offering Steve a helping hand. He grabbed your hand firmly, tugging himself up with your help. This time, he finally rolled his eyes again.
“Not really, my ass is freezing!” He teased. You could tell by the look on his face he didn’t mean what he said about not being happy.
He honestly couldn’t be happier.
2 of my favorite movies ever Addams family and lost boys <3
They're some of my favorite movies, too! Thanks for the ask! <3
CW: Mentions of Mpreg and murder in the Addams Family one since Steve is Debbie
Addams Family Values AU: Set in Omegavers because that's what the prompter wanted, the events of the movie happen exactly the same way, except Debbie/Steve survives the events, who continues to try to murder Fester/Eddie. Slight Jargyle in this one, btw.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve frowned as he looked down at the frothing broth before him that Grandmama Joyce had put in front of him. To be honest, he thought that he would’ve been done with this family now. He’d tried to kill Eddie more times than he could count, much to his delight, and the whole family twice, but they only seemed to enjoy his murder attempts. Most of them took it as a sign of affection, that he cared enough to plot their murders.
“And this will get me pregnant?” Steve asked skeptically.
“No, no,” Joyce said. “It will increase your chances of getting pregnant. Since you and Eddie are having such problems conceiving, after all.”
They weren’t having problems conceiving as Steve was still taking his birth control, even though he’d told Eddie that he’d stopped. Sex was a good way to control the formerly virgin alpha, and Eddie mostly did as Steve asked in exchange for a roll in the sheets. Not that he needed to that all the time as Eddie was eager to please his new mate and bent over backwards to spoil Steve in every way possible. Steve actually enjoyed it a little, but now that he’d start trying to kill his mate, it wasn’t as if he could stop and seem like a quitter.
“I’m sure it’ll happen eventually,” he replied with a forced smile. “There’s no need to go through all this trouble on my account.”
“It’s no trouble, dear. You’re family, after all. Until death do us part.” Joyce laughed at that and winked, as if the two were sharing an inside joke about Steve’s murder attempts. “I want to see you and Eddie start one of your own.”
“That’s so kind of you, Grandmama. We truly appreciate how much you care for us.”
“I know.” She then placed her hands over Steve’s lovingly. “We all know. Don’t think I didn’t catch that arsenic you slipped in my tea earlier. So sweet of you.”
“Of course. Anything for my dear family.”
It was just Steve’s luck to come across the only family that used arsenic and cyanide as seasonings. He didn’t think he’d done anything to deserve such rotten luck. His parents had it coming after getting him the G.I. Joe instead of the Ballerina Barbie like he asked. And his other mates hadn’t care about him, so of course they also had to go, too. There was no reason at all for karma to curse him like this.
“Go on. Don’t be shy,” Joyce insisted. “Drink up.”
Staring down at the gray, brackish liquid, Steve couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose. He knew if he did get pregnant, the baby would be the cutest in the world, because how could it not with his genetics? A baby would tie him down, and there was no guarantee that he’d make a good parent as could be an awful one like his own, ruining his child’s life by getting the wrong toy thus throwing off their whole sense of self. It was better if he found a way to finally kill Eddie, so he could move on with his life.
Still, it didn’t look like Joyce would be taking no as an answer, and he couldn’t reject the home remedy since it would raise suspicions that he was only after the Munson fortune. All Steve could do was lift the potion to his lips and chug it. He doubted whatever weird remedy that Joyce concocted would be stronger than his birth control, so he should be fine. At least, that’s what he assured himself even as he felt a dull ache in his abdomen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lost Boys Mermaid AU: Like the movies but with murderous mermaids hunting tourists along the coastline instead. Eddie takes a liking to Steve, who is there on vacation due to his parents bringing him along on one of their business trips. Unlike the movie, the mermaids win.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve approached the boardwalk, hoping again to see the members of Corroded Coffin, and most of all Eddie. Their meeting the other day had honestly left an impression on him. While the crew had been a bit rowdy, they’d also been freer than Steve had ever been, so he couldn’t stop from being drawn to them, wanting a taste of the freedom that he’d never been allowed, at least for a little while before he had to leave with his parents again once their business trip was over.
Much to Steve’s dismay, they weren’t hanging by the records store where Steve had encountered them last. He was about to go in when a pair of arms caught him from behind. The grip was tight, tighter than Steve expected, but before he could struggle, he glanced down at the hands, recognizing the rings on them.
“Eddie!” Steve exclaimed happily. “I almost thought I wouldn’t see you again.”
“I promised I’d find you today, didn’t I? Couldn’t let my sweetheart down.”
Eddie then released him, allowing Steve to turn to face him. He was wearing the same heavy leather jacket and chains that he had on previously, looking just as devilishly handsome as when Steve first met him yesterday. A grin spread across Eddie’s face as their eyes met, causing red to blossom on Steve’s cheeks as he blushed.
“Though you really shouldn’t be wandering around alone,” Eddie added while running a finger down Steve’s cheek. “They’ve been finding the bodies of tourists along the beach. Wouldn’t want anything to gobble you up while I wasn’t looking, Stevie.”
Despite the morbid topic, the red on Steve’s cheeks grew, unaccustomed to being flirted with first. Steve usually had to be the one to make the opening move, jump through hoops to get the person’s attention. Even with Steve’s parents, he had a hard time getting them to acknowledge him unless he specifically made his presence known to them. So, Eddie treating him like this, like Steve was something special was enough to make Steve’s heart warm no matter compliment.
“If it was you, I don’t think I’d mind being gobbled,” Steve replied coyly.
“I’d be careful, princess. You might regret it if I took a bite out of you. I wouldn’t let go until I had every piece of you for myself.”
“Like I said, I don’t think I’d mind. I want to give you every piece of me.”
Eddie leaned in, as if to kiss him, but instead clasped a white shell necklace onto Steve’s neck. A shiver ran down Steve’s spine, feeling strange, like his throat was suddenly dry. Steve grasped at Eddie’s jacket to steady himself and clung to the fabric as if his life depended on it, which caused a deep chuckle to rumble out from Eddie’s throat.
Then Eddie brought his lips close to his ear, “There’s a pearl earring to match.”
The breath against Steve’s ear made him inhale sharply and nod, even though his parents would kill him if they saw him with an earring. They were traditionalists and didn’t think men should wear jewelry other than maybe a fancy watch. However, when Eddie whispered the words to him, he couldn’t bring himself to care about what his parents thought, and only wanted to do what would please Eddie the most.
☃️ characters/pairings: steddie, clarkson
Tumblr media
❄️ @it-gets-worse-at-night "requested" some snowed in steddie and I felt too compelled to deliver. So here's the boys going to get supplies after a few days snowed in the munson trailer
🛷 content/trigger warnings: being trapped inside, snowstorms, loads of discussions about various sexual activities, implied sex, injury discussions, couples fighting, heavily implied drug use, pov switch
😚 word count: 4660
Tumblr media
“Wayne practically threw you off that porch,” Steve said as he crowded into Eddie’s space.
“That’s just how he is, you wouldn’t understand.”
“We’ve been trapped inside your trailer with him and Scott for three days, I kind of want to push you out the door and send you on a meaningless chore.”
Eddie stopped to look at Steve, “You don’t mean that.”
Scrambling to a stop of his own, trying not to regret the borrowed boots, Steve gave Eddie a wide-eyed stare. “We’re all on top of each other in a tin can, Ed. There’s no power, no hot water, and we're running out of food. We can hear Wayne chew from your room. With the door closed. Where's the fun?”
“Oh, that’s nothing new,” Eddie said with a laugh and got himself started again, carefully taking steps on what they were hoping was the road. “You’d have never survived the storm of ‘78, things were out for a week. I had to climb on the roof so many times.”
“I was alive in ‘78,” Steve tossed back, not even trying to hide the annoyance.
“Yeah, it was probably real tough in that castle.”
Steve didn’t miss that Eddie wasn’t looking at him. Obviously, he’d made a misstep here and not the expected ones into a ditch or on some patch of ice. However, they had been caged up and Steve wasn’t the sort to just sit and take shit either. “If you want to know the truth, your trailer is way easier to keep warm and I didn’t pay enough attention in science class to know the fire I’d made was trying to heat the whole house.”
“Yeah, but your parents knew.”
“Maybe, they were in Boca. It’s sort of their thing. They don’t really like winter.”
“And why weren’t you with them?”
“Because I was thirteen and the last thing I wanted to do was go hang out at some resort with a bunch of grandmas. I asked to stay.”
And like that, Steve had Eddie back. With a little jump and turn, more than he should have been trying, Eddie was walking backward. Huge grin on his face as he said, “Good to know you’re not one of those guys really into old women.”
“I was thirteen, my tastes hadn’t formed yet,” Steve scrunched his features together, mocking Eddie.
“So that’s why you asked Mrs. Allaway if you could get her anything while we’re out. God, I’ve got to be one epic disappointment.”
“At this point if it were between you in this storm and the grandmas on the beach, I hate to say it…”
Clutching his chest in a gesture that brought the disc sled they were towing up to smack him in his knees, Eddie played his part. Wounded and not walking, it would normally be amusing but Steve wished there were bushes to be seen so he could shove Eddie into them.
Stopping just short of colliding, Steve rolled his eyes. “Mush! Let's go.”
“You’re so cranky. Where's this guy been all my life? Like, yowza. Who needs all these layers with you making me this hot?”
“I’m just not used to being s-so supervised,” Steve snapped. Immediately he flinched at the sound of his own voice. He hadn’t meant for that to come out but they’d been circling it enough the compliant sprouted legs.
“Oh, alright, yeah. Let it out, man,” Eddie laughed, unbothered.
“I was supposed to take you out but Wayne said the weather was gonna turn and, whatever, yeah. Sure, he was right but, man, we should have gone to my place. They know everything we do, I can’t even kiss you without a comment.”
Eddie pressed closer, as near as he could get without them touching. Or they might have been, they were both wrapped in enough layers that Steve couldn’t be sure. “You could now.”
“You know what’s why they kicked us out right?”
“Because you want to kiss me?” Eddie said through a laugh.
“No, because they were smart enough to get the trailer to themselves. Your uncle is absolutely giving it to our old science teacher right now.”
Gagging, Eddie stepped back. “Thanks for that image.”
An evil grin flashed in place of laughter, poised in his growing frustration. “I'm just saying and it could have been us if someone hadn’t ruined it.”
“Who, Scott?” Eddie asked with that innocent confusion he was too good at faking.
“Yeah, him,” Steve deadpanned, pushing past Eddie to carry on. It was a long walk to civilization. “Definitely not you with your ‘you can borrow clothes! We’ve got enough to fit you!’ eagerness.”
“How was I supposed to know?”
“If it was any more obvious, Wayne and Scott would have caught on. I mean, I wouldn't have had to say anything. I mean, what? 'Why do YOU two go and we’ll stay here because I haven’t got off in four days and, well, ya know what? Really if you just check the mail the problem would be sorted' It wasn't even subtext, man.”
Eddie covered his mouth but Steve still heard the laugh. “Look, I wanted to get out of the house.”
“I know and you needed to, you’re climbing the walls, but also we could have used that energy in a better way than a two-hour quest through the snow or whatever you called it.”
“We could…fool around out here.”
Steve didn’t respond, just waved his hand over his body to present the biggest obstacle. Whether he meant all the layers or being without them, he wasn’t sure. Perhaps both.
“Alright fine, then we do a little over-the-clothes action. It wouldn’t be the first time you’ve cum in your pants,” Eddie said with a level of pride that did things to Steve.
He was almost willing to take him up on the offer. Again, it wouldn’t take much effort. “As much as I’d love to spend the rest of the walk to the store with my dick frozen to my leg hairs…”
The act dropped as Eddie paused to entertain Steve’s statement.
“I wouldn’t love that,” Steve whispered, glaring at Eddie. Shocked that needed to be said.
“So, fine. We go back then.”
“And say what? Mr. Munson? Mr. Clarke? I really need to fuck Eddie right now so if you could go get the groceries we were halfway to, that’d be swell.”
“Why did you call him Mr. Munson in that scenario?”
Steve scrubbed his hand over what stinging cold skin he still had exposed.
“And we’re not halfway. A quarter of the way at best.”
“Eddie, I’m going to murder you. I’m going to murder you and leave your body in the snow then I’m going to jerk off in your bed when your uncle comes out looking for you.”
“I mean, that sounds like an amazing night.”
“Jesus fucking Christ.”
“Him too, huh?”
“You know that movie where the guy goes crazy and tries to kill his wife in the tree maze?”
“You’re so close but yes.”
“I get it.”
“All work and no play, huh?”
There wasn’t anything Steve could say. He was aware of his sour mood which was because of so many things other than his ability to have a bit of fun with Eddie. Being trapped was huge but they were out walking around so maybe it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
Hearing over and over how it’s just a snowstorm and everything would be fine was also going to bring Steve to murder. Like Wayne and Scott had any clue what they’d been through, the horrors Steve knew and the way feeling helpless ate at him. Sure it wasn’t the same but the feelings were too close for Steve’s liking.
Add to that Steve didn’t think people were meant to spend this many consecutive hours together. He was ready for his solitude back. And for the snow to leave.
Wayne was taking care of them and well. He knew all the tricks and how to make things work, he kept the peace pretty well, and Steve likely was being as difficult as Eddie. They probably both needed to be kicked out.
“I think I’m just gonna walk back to my place after we get you loaded up.”
“What? Why? You’re going to make me carry everything back by myself?”
“You have the sled.”
“It’ll be heavy though! You have all those muscles!”
Steve rolled his eyes but took the compliment.
“Look, it’s not a full plan,” Eddie started. “But maybe you’re right. We can go back.”
“How?”
“If you faked hurt.”
With a shake of his head, Steve said he didn’t understand and waited for Eddie to offer more.
“I was thinking about it, right? You have to be the one who’s hurt because you’re a guest and my uncle can’t demand you go to the doctor since you’re not his kid. Even though I’m the better actor.”
“You’re more dramatic, it’s not the same thing.”
“One day we’re going to be stuck in the snow without Wayne to save u-no wait, that wouldn't be a problem wouldn’t it?”
“Probably not.”
“Well, being bitchy now doesn’t melt the snow or whatever so we’ve got my plan or we go to the store and return. Together.”
“Let’s hear it,” Steve resigned.
“You’re hurt, right? Something easy, no broken bones or anything, so you just have to have bed rest and aspirin. I get you back to the trailer in one piece since I'm obviously the hero of this story. Wayne and Scott go get supplies since we failed. Blammo! The house to ourselves.”
“So, what? We were goofing off when we weren’t supposed to be, I got hurt, and we didn’t make it to the store.”
“Perfect, right.”
“More than enough for me,” Steve said, spinning on his heel and heading back the way they came.
Getting out of the trailer wasn’t all it was cracked up to be in this sort of cold. They’d made it a considerable distance and Steve felt like that part was out of his system. Maybe he just needed to take a little walk every day like some sort of pet. However, he was nearly sprinting back to the trailer. Desperate for warmth and the promised alone time in said warm trailer.
Eddie struggled to keep up but his snowsuit didn’t fit like it used to, he claimed. Limiting his movements. He had to shout to stop Steve before he rounded into the trailer park, they had to sell this. And Eddie was right, acting wasn’t Steve’s thing so he called upon everything he had. This rested on his performance. So he climbed onto the sled and let Eddie pull him from there.
Alerting the whole place to the problem, Eddie called out Wayne's name long before reaching the Munson home. Steve wanted to needle and make jokes about getting into Eddie’s head and what the men were up to but he’d done enough damage today.
As expected, Wayne came scrambling out onto the front porch, nearly kicking through the snow that had piled up from the roof. Steve watched the emergency response turn into disappointment.
“What the hell have you boys done now?”
“If you didn’t want us to play in the snow you shouldn’t have given us a sled,” Eddie said.
“Here I thought you were grown up enough,” Wayne mocked. He stuffed a hand into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
“Wayne,” Eddie said with so much seriousness. “It’s a sled. It’s bright green. I’m an adult but I’m still human.”
Steve shrugged a shoulder, it was a valid point.
As Wayne exhaled the first drag, he waited for an explanation. Something people seemed to do a lot around Eddie. Steve wasn’t sure if it was annoyance or understanding they all had but it was neat that they all shared it.
“Maybe we were goofing off a little bit, whatever. We’ve been inside for days! If I crashed into him because no one can control one of these things then that’s between me, him, and the woodland creatures. Especially the birds that all scattered at the deafening sound of his knee…”
“Dislocating,” Steve filled in.
Steve’s contribution stopped Wayne and he looked down at him on his pathetic sled, snow-covered and freezing. Again, he waited for more to be said.
“My knee popped outta place. It’s happened before. I was a bit worried about it because, ya know,” Steve motioned around him to the snow, “But it popped back in so I knew it wasn’t gonna be that bad.”
Wayne grumbled.
“It’s not a big deal, everything kind of goes black for a minute, like,” Steve held his hands out past his head and brought them to a point.
Scott appeared over Wayne’s shoulder looking like he’d run a few laps around the trailer to get here. “Is he alright?”
“He’s an idiot but he’ll live,” Wayne said, tapping the cigarette over the snow and having Steve oddly feel like part of the family. “Get him inside, Ed.”
They’d pulled it off. Steve was really starting to doubt things for a second but it looked like this was working. The hardest acting of all of this was not celebrating. Talking about his knee was easy, he retold a basketball injury, but this was different.
Not as hard, though, as having to act like he couldn’t walk. Wayne wasn’t looking at them but he was always watching. Eddie wasn’t much help. Had Steve seriously been hurt, crawling into the trailer would have been easier than this Three Stooges brand entrance into the home.
Steve ended up moving himself up the stairs though, backward and very carefully. Eddie crashed into the walls of the trailer trying to get Steve on his feet, and a very doting Scott came and helped Steve hop to the couch. He prayed he was selling this but between the concern and the clown, his performance was overshadowed.
The performance was worth it when Scott helped Steve get his leg up on the coffee table (with a few pillows, of course) and then instructed Eddie to “help Steve get out of some of those layers”. The overzealous “gladly” that Eddie rushed out had Scott turning several shades of red and spinning in a circle, not sure if he should chastise Eddie or leave the room. Steve wondered if now was the right time to tell him he’d skipped a button in getting dressed. Really pile on the embarrassment.
As usual, he was saved by Wayne who showed up dressed in his winter gear. It wasn’t anything close to Eddie’s navy blue, puffy overalls but it looked as old and well-used. Mission-driven Wayne was not a man one talked to. Eddie fell back immediately, getting out of the way.
Scott moved forward. “You’re not going out there alone!”
“You stay and tend to the boys, I’ll be fine,” Wayne answered, not welcoming a discussion as he grabbed his scarf and gloves.
Risking their whole plan, Eddie and Steve’s heads whipped toward each other. They hadn’t planned for this.
“I’m a science teacher, not a nurse, there’s nothing I can do for him that Eddie can’t. I’m not having you wandering around in the snow alone.”
“Nothing your teaching stuff could do for us out there either,” Wayne offered.
Again, Eddie and Steve shared a look but it was sympathy for Scott. And a bit of guilt for bringing this on.
“We’re absolutely going to pretend you didn’t say that because I doubt you mean it. Give me two minutes.”
Wayne growled but he stopped wrapping his scarf around his neck. As Scott dashed off to find things to stay warm, Wayne turned his attention to the boys. “He alright?”
“I dunno, I think we might have to amputate,” Eddie answered.
Steve looked up at his boyfriend confused but it brought a laugh from Wayne. Things weren’t as bleak as they looked and somehow Eddie knew that. He deserved a bit more credit than he got sometimes. Steve probably owed him an apology or two.
“Well, I trust you know what you’re doing. Give him a belt to bite down on and remember bone is harder to cut through than you think.”
“Yeah, I remember,” Eddie said in a way that made it sound like he’d done it a dozen times.
Whatever was going on made the room feel lighter. Steve may not have understood but he was thankful.
“We let a lot of the heat out getting you two inside so-”
“Yup,” Eddie said.
“And…sorry for before. You two were just having fun.”
“We were being dumbasses too. We knew better.”
“Nothing wrong with that you just, you gotta be careful. You both are more fragile than you used to be.”
Eddie’s shoulders dropped but Steve stared at Wayne in disbelief. Was all of this because they’d gotten hurt and not because they didn’t finish the mission? The guilt started to weigh enough Steve feared an actual injury. He wasn’t hurt and they were dumbasses. Not anyone worth this much fuss.
Scott showed up looking ready to explore the Arctic, he even had goggles. He was too easy to make fun of. How this man survived middle school on a daily basis had to be a miracle. Steve knew he was at his meanest then, honing the craft if you will, and Scott begged to be mocked.
As if reading their minds, Wayne shook his head but nodded toward the door. Moving things along in a way only he could. Giving them another look, a nod of their own, Scott followed Wayne.
Hot on his heels, Eddie stood in the doorway as he sent the troops off to war. “We were going to spend all the money on beer and sour candy so, ya know, don’t do that. Or do. I still want some candy.”
Steve didn’t need to see Wayne to know the eye roll the comment received. “Close the damn door, boy.” was the parting comment.
Like that, Steve and Eddie had the place to themselves. They got out of the grunt work and they got a weird bonus of being cared for. Maybe Steve could cook dinner or something. At a minimum, he could stop complaining. He was building quite the debt for this and didn't have a clue how to pay it off and ease his conscience.
Eddie peered through the window, fogging up the glass as his uncle stomped his way out of the trailer park. While Eddie kept watch, Steve shed some layers. Waiting for the go-ahead, the all clear. If there was going to be this much guilt, they better do what they came back for!
---
Scott stood on what he thought was the Munson’s driveway, looking back at the homestead he’d been lucky enough to have through this storm. Normally he weathered the snowdays alone. It was never a hardship, there were plenty of projects calling his name and even the loss of electricity didn’t stop him. Spending the days trapped inside with three other people didn’t look like the preferable choice but Scott hadn’t minded.
At least until cabin fever started to claim everyone else. Steve was the first to go. They were twelve hours away from rash decisions or a knife fight. Wayne was next but it was hard to know if it was cabin fever or the teenagers they were crammed in the trailer with. Eddie seemed to not have an off switch and Steve was teetering on the brink. They'd drive anyone to madness.
Thankfully they had their own space but without the distraction of music, television, and the hum of general appliance usage, Scott and Wayne could hear their every conversation. To make sure they didn’t fall victim to the same, Scott and Wayne kept it light and did a lot of reading.
Watching Wayne stomp down the steps to blow right past where Scott stood, they were either going to find a way to say even less as they walked to the store or too much was going to be said. As weird as it was, Scott hoped for the latter. Wayne wasn’t great at talking about what he felt but there was more going on here and it shouldn’t stay in.
Scott struggled to find the boy's tracks, the wind filled in most disturbances. Soon it’d all be compacted and turned into a slushy mess. For now, it was almost majestic. The sort of stuff that made Scott wish he was better with a camera.
He slipped a few times, the soft snow crunching down further on one side than the other and costing him his balance. Wayne would have caught him, surely, or at least laughed along but he was already in the next county. If he’d gotten any farther ahead of Scott, he’d have to take offense. The neon green sled helped Wayne stay visible at least.
Near the end of the street, Wayne turned around and closed the gap. “We shouldn’t have asked them to go, they aren’t responsible enough.”
“Try again.”
“They’re just kids, Scott. It’s our job to go and what’s worse, we’re fooling around like we’re the teenagers.”
There was a drastic shift in attitude from one comment to the next. Scott was pretty sure the problem here after that second addition but he stood tall and firm. “Keep going.”
“What if something serious had happened? Eddie was in the hospital for eight months, Steve half that time. They could have done something, who knows. I mean...”
“They could have but they didn’t," Scott said firmly. "We can’t worry about the could haves.”
“I just saw Steve on that sled and thought they could have been hit by some idiot thinking they could drive in this and we wouldn’t have known. We’d’ve been at home complaining about how long they were taking.”
“Okay,” Scott said, nodding and taking this in.
He didn’t have any kids of his own, adoptive or biological. Scott had far too many opinions on raising kids but he dealt with parents choices day in and day out. Of course, there were ones he worried about sending home each day but it was nothing like this. Eddie was Wayne's responsibility, his burden.
Wayne was an amazing parent and this showed why. Doing his best to take in the concern and not respond too coldly or calculated, Scott touched the sleeve of Wayne’s coat to let him know he was there.
“You wanna say something ‘bout them being fine, don’t you?”
“Is that going to change how you feel?”
“No.”
“Then it’s not helpful. At some point, you’ll have to let the boys make their own mistakes. They’re adults now and they aren’t always going to have you to come home to but that doesn’t mean you have to stop worrying.”
“Hmmm.”
Scott smiled, “Those two boys know that no matter what happens, they can call on you and that’s not something most have in life. You getting a few extra gray hairs means they know they’re loved.”
“Well, we don’t gotta go that far.”
“But it means you have to let them try to fly too.”
“Y’know, I’ve never been able to stop Eddie from doing much but it really should have been me and you that did this in the first place.”
“Aw, are you saying you didn’t have fun being the ones left behind?”
“Now, don’t fight dirty, Mr. Clarke.”
“I’m simply pointing out that sometimes it’s okay to let them try. Fun, even.” though it couldn’t be seen, Scott raised an eyebrow.
It all earned a laugh from Wayne that felt like a major victory rather than a half-a-second reaction. This wasn’t going to ruin their day, it was barely going to ruin the next five minutes, so Scott walked along quietly and left Wayne to his thoughts. Enjoying the peace of mind that things weren’t going to explode any time soon. The volatile conditions weren’t going to go away but if they continued to be careful, they’d survive this.
By the walk home, Scott was tired but filled the crisp air with words. Lamenting the state of the store and how overly optimistic it’d been to think there’d be anything worthwhile left this deep into the storm. If they couldn't drive Wayne's truck through town, deliveries weren't getting in either. Which brought on other worries but it was too late for any preventative measures.
There wasn’t a drop of liquor left in the store, not even cooking sherry, but they did get sour candies for the boys. Wayne had to suffer and get a different brand of cigarettes but Scott wasn’t about to add withdrawals to this situation so he'd put them in the cart and silenced the complaints. Just because he had more patience than the rest of them, didn’t mean it couldn’t run out.
Back at the trailer, things were suspiciously quiet. They’d made good use of their time alone given it smelled like a family of skunks had a party under the trailer. Wayne shook his head, not a battle he wanted to (or could) fight. It was something Scott was still getting used to, especially the reflex of years spent with the expectation he would kick down doors and put a stop to recreational drug use.
Wayne traipsed into Eddie’s room with the comfort that comes with “I pay the bills here” and gave the boys the rundown. What was out, what they got, who they’d run into. Steve was lying on the bed with his knee propped up on every spare pillow the trailer had.
As Wayne spoke, Scott glanced from Steve to Eddie; something happened here. Nothing looked out of place and neither of them seemed different but Scott knew something was going on. For a moment he thought about asking, to point out the way things felt, but he’d spent too much time scurrying after Wayne in the snow to ruin the good mood it’d brought back.
Instead, Scott listened to Wayne talk about some guy he knew from work. Through narrowed eyes and finally unfogged glasses, Scott watched the kids. Trying to decide if it was the weed or they’d broken grandma’s heirloom vase or whatever the Munson equivalent was. Scott waited for Wayne to make his exit. The promise of some meal that didn’t make sense to Steve or Scott came as Wayne walked out to hang his winter clothes up to dry.
“I don’t know what you two are up to,” Scott whispered, pointing a finger from one to the other before settling it on Eddie. “But I know it’s something and your uncle is out there feeling like a failure as a parental figure because he sent you two out in the storm. Which means whatever it is stays a secret. You hear me?”
They both nod, wide-eyed and sitting a little straighter in the bed.
“Good. Because if he finds out–”
“There’s nothing to find out,” Eddie said, falling so easily into that cornered cat persona.
Meanwhile, Steve looked like he’d been stopped by the police. Caught mid-crime and coming to terms with the terrifying prospects of prison, he shifted his injured leg. Scott silently emphasized the warning before saying “Good.”
With that, he left. He’d spent so long trying not to be Mr. Clarke and to not see those two as former students but it was the only way he knew how to do something like that. Rather than sit around and watch it implode, Scott fell back on the skills he’d honed. If he used them for good it couldn’t possibly be a problem, right?
And the man standing in the kitchen clutching a cup of coffee like a lifeline, with its warmth and normalcy, as he assessed their haul was the best cause of them all.
