What did you do for the super blue moon? I didn’t do as much as I wanted (having a small baby will do that to your practice) but I did get some moon water (from rain water) that I am able to use in the future!

I had a dream where I was in a witch's cottage and in the kitchen she had an iron rack for wooden spoons. Like this but with a pentagram in the center:
Tumblr media
And above each hook was a little sign with things like "love", "healing", and "strength". The spoons were enchanted for those purposes and hung on their respective hooks for easy access while cooking.
And I think that's just such a cool idea.... Now to find or make a rack.

Learning to Cook like a Witch: Beyond the Spice Cabinet
One of the greatest witchcraft life hacks known to magickind is the kitchen spice cabinet. You can make a thousand spells just using the same herbs and spices you use for cooking. Yeah, sometimes, you need something a little more difficult to get your hands on, but often, you can find a substitution within the confines of your kitchen.
This is really common advice: Work with what you have. I see more advanced practitioners pointing to the spice aisle all the time.
But I find that we're neglecting something else equally important and useful: the rest of the kitchen.
Why stop at the spice cabinet? Everything in your kitchen, from the tools you cook with to the utensils you eat with to the non-spice/non-herb ingredients in your cabinets and fridge, all of it has purpose. Expand your thinking beyond herbs to food in general. Look to your other shelves, open up your fridge. What do you find, and what can it be used for?

My Soothing Rainbow Study Space Today🌈🎶🍄
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m working on my Book Of Shadows today, as well as re-reading some of my old spells and entries! Usually I listen to Soundbath videos to fall asleep or meditate, but this one has enough chimes in it that it makes a good background video for my magical workings. I’ve been feeling really inspired by Harmony Nice’s old witchcraft YouTube videos, and while (unlike her) I don’t identify as Wiccan I love her witchy spell ideas.

1/30 Days of Devotion To Hestia
Day 1 - Basic Introduction
Hestia (Ἑστια - meaning Hearth) is the Greek goddess of the hearth, home, and family. She had few actual temples but instead presided over hearths in all homes, altars, and the cities. Prayers and sacrifices started and ended with Hestia which is a reoccurring pattern in her worship, such as honoring the first/last bites of a meal.
I have always appreciated her for years and recently I've decided to start incorporating her more officially in my life and I'm very excited to do so. I want to start focusing on household worship and I thought a Days of Devotion to Hestia would be a great way to really get me started.

The "Domestic Magics" and What It Means (To Me) To Be A Hearthkeeper
I’m a full time «NonTrad» Homemaker due to unfortunate health circumstance, turned accepted and celebrated life profession.
Religiously, spiritually, and magically, the Home itself is considered a sacred space to me (the third most sacred- following the Temple in all its forms, then the Garden). And since I cannot actually have children myself, I personally view the community as a substitute, and therefore as an extension of my Hearth. Community building and education, and related activities, are therefore likewise considered further extensions of these practices by proxy.
I heavily practice the traditional magical arts of Cottagecraft, Hearthcraft, Kitchencraft, and Greencraft as they're understood within the Traditional NeoWiccan religion and framework as a result; I use the parallel phrases 'Domestic Witchcraft' and 'Domestic Magics' as an umbrella to refer to a wide variety of individual subsets of Witchcraft and their related spells and rituals within my practice.
'Domestic' is defined thus:
(General) Pertaining to the home, household, household affairs, or family.
(Of A person) Devoted to home life, family life, or household affairs.
'Domestic Witchcraft' is therefore any collection of spells or rituals which have a foundation in (or around)- or an effect on- the home, as well as one’s family and guests.
Within NeoPaganism these individual practices of Cottagecraft, Hearthcraft, Kitchencraft, and Greencraft are unfortunately incorrectly conflated into one system at times. Typically under the moniker of “Cottagecraft” (or sometimes "Hearthcraft" or "Hedge Witch") as a catch-all. Personally, however, I dislike this penchant greatly as I feel each category is itself a unique specialization.
There may be overlap between each group due to the nature of sharing the same domestic focus. But they are still distinct areas of magic and focus, each. Specializing in one does not assume specialization in the others by proxy. I define each of the 'Domestic Magics' individually as follows, for this reason:
➻ Cottagecraft: A denomnative form of Domestic Witchcraft which is focused around the (general) interior of the Home and its Household inhabitants. This may include activities and spells with a heavy influence on crafting and DIY, home protection, familial harmony, household finances, budget Witchcraft, and similar things.
➻ Kitchencraft: A denomnative form of Domestic Witchcraft which is focused in and around the Kitchen itself, as a separate entity from the home as a whole. This may include activities and spells with a heavy influence on cooking, baking, food, and similar things- especially for harmony, healing, etc; does not focus strictly to the household, but can also focus on one's community.
➻ Hearthcraft: A denomnative form of Domestic Witchcraft which is focused on the Hearth or Fireplace, as a separate entity from the home as a whole. This may include spells and activities with a heavy influence on fire, warmth, comfort, protection, and similar things- but in a manner different than Cottagecraft. Especially through the use of fiber-based arts and crafts (such as sewing, knitting, or embroidery [sic]), and Ancestor and Spiritwork; like Kitchencraft, it does not focus strictly to the household, but can also focus on one's community.
➻ Greencraft: A denomnative form of Domestic Witchcraft which is focused in and around the Yard or general (immediate) exterior of the Home. This may include spells and activities with a heavy influence on crystals and plants, Herbalism (magical, spiritual, medicinal, or otherwise), gardening and / or landscaping (magical, spiritual, medicinal, or otherwise), connection with Plant Spirit Allies and Land Spirits, general connection with Earth Energies, ecoregional and bioregional studies, and similar things- but does not include animals.
If I really need a catch-all term for simplicity’s sake, then I call them the “Domestic Magics” as a way to retain their individual definitions while still using a generalized, all encompassing term which is relevant to their shared realm of material focus. And I call myself a "Hearthkeeper", personally, as a practitioner with a heavy primary emphasis on all such forms of Domestic Magics (rather than someone who only practices one or two).
Again, however: This has nothing to do with Hedgecraft. Hedgecraft is a form of witchcraft that deals with Spirits and the boundary between plains (ours and the Otherworld)- including, depending on the practitioner, practices such as the use of ritual Entheogens, ritual transformation, Skinchanging, and other actions. It is more closely allied with Traditional Witchcraft than it is Wicca and NeoWicca, and the Eclectic NeoPaganism that masquerades as such.
I am also a Hedge Witch. Hedge Witchcraft does not have anything to do with my Domestic Practice.
This account is run by a Dual Faith «(Converting) Masorti Jew + Traditional NeoWiccan» & «Ancestral Folk Magic Practitioner» with 20+ years of experience as a practicing Pagan and Witch. If that bothers you, don't interact.

Hello! How are you? I was wondering if you had any advice or tips for someone who was interested in learning and wanting to try folk magic? I've been interested in looking into it for a while, but I'm not really sure of where to go with it.
Hi! I'm good thank you!! This is my jam!!!
Okay so this might be a bit of a long one -
Folk magick is incredibly personal and local to where you are. It is magic for the people, by the people, and as such harnesses incredibly old ways of working. It is also, as a pathway, deeply accessible. I see it as a path that allows you utilise the energies around you, rather than requiring certain tools or garbs or timings like ceremonial magick does.
Some general tips I'd recommend include:
Get to know the flora and fauna in your local area, both through research but also actively communicating and working with those plants and animals. For some practitioners, like myself, this can influence the food and herbs you cook with and use for spell work (and even down to the tea I drink!).
Channel your community. Connect with the people whom you share these spaces with and understand them. You don't necessarily have to be besties, but saying a quick hello to your neighbour can go a long way.
Find your spot! When I moved for University, I picked a tree on campus that was my tree and sat with it, and - eventually - I brought more people to come sit with me. If chatting to people feels daunting, find somewhere to call your own (a booth at a coffee shop, a sofa at the library, a statue in a museum) and anchor yourself there. I like to avoid using my phone at my spot, and it's become an energetical hearth during my time at Uni, when I would often move physical spaces.
And some further reading I'd recommend to get you started:
Folk Magick vs WItchcraft
Folk Magick in the fight against Capitalism
Folk Magic Guide Video
I'll be doing a podcast episode on this shortly, so please stay tuned for that! And if you have any questions please don't be afraid to shoot me an ask - I hope this helped! x

You know what I like about tea? It’s a combination of the four elements.
The tea leaves make up the earth, the foundation, the water that creates the body, the heat and flame that boils the water in order to bring out the properties of the tea leaves, and the delicate, silvery wisps that rise and disappear as we blow on the finished drink to cool it enough to sip.
It’s the perfect blend of the elements, all converging in one place to create a beverage that can be used in so many different ways, whether it’s just to enjoy while doing some paper work or reading a book, using it as an offering to a deity or Mother Earth, or stirring in a spell or enchantment as you add honey or lemon.
And the number of different types and ways you can make tea are nearly limitless! If you’ve got a filter you can use purified rain water or moon water. You can make your won medicinal tea with herbs, or use the flowers you foraged from the great greenwood and vast moor, or harvested from your garden.
It’s truly the witch’s beverage, no matter the path or practice you choose.

Hot Chocolate Mug Cake
Hey all, I just made this again tonight and thought that others might enjoy. I found the recipe a while ago on an ancient, now-deleted blog and wanted to make sure it wasn’t forgotten because it is delicious and infinitely customizable! You don’t need any fancy tools or baking expertise, just some simple ingredients and a microwave.
Ingredients:
Packet of hot cocoa mix (I use Swiss Miss Dark Chocolate but whatever floats your boat!)
4 tbsp all purpose flour
4 tsp granulated sugar
4 tbsp milk of choice
1/4 tsp baking soda
All you’ll need to use is a microwave-safe mug (please double check, I accidentally used a mug with metallic paint once! Luckily I caught it before anything caught fire), a spoon, and a microwave!
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together in the mug. Doesn’t matter what order. Stir them well, you want it to be a smooth consistency without any dry or powdery spots left. It should look something like this when you’re ready.
Tumblr media
Once you’ve got everything mixed well, you’re gonna put the mug in the microwave for about 1 minute and 30 seconds (maybe a touch more or less depending on your wattage, but luckily there’s no raw ingredients in this so it’s okay if it’s a bit underdone. You can always microwave it longer if needed!)
Afterwards it should look something like this!
Tumblr media
It’ll have a thick, cakey texture. You can then top it with whatever you like (marshmallows, ice cream, powdered sugar, etc) or just eat it as-is! I use a spoon and eat it straight out of the mug. Experiment! Enjoy!

Practical Home Magic: The Front Door
I'm a bit of a homebody, so it only makes sense that my primary focus in my magical practice is on my home. When I establish myself in a new place or renew my home's protections, I follow the same pattern every time.
The name of the game is layers. Having a single layer of protection over the entire home, not unlike a bubble or a garden wall, is fine for plenty of people. I've always been a magnet for spirits, though, and I like to include more in my walls to bring in what I want, not just keep out what I don't. So, like paint, I need more than just one coat.
And as you do with most places, I like to start at the beginning: the front door.
This is the first part of a series all about magic in the home, currently exclusive to Ko-Fi supporters! You can get early, extended, and exclusive access to my work for as little as $1. If you like my work, consider leaving a tip!

Hearth & Home Witchcraft by Jennie Blonde (a full book review) 🔥🪵🏠🍞🍅
Tumblr media
5/5 stars
I love this book for a variety of reasons, one being that it is very low pressure compared to other books on witchcraft that I’ve read. Other books tend to sound preachy and pressure the reader into doing rigorous activities, while this book acknowledges that not everyone can or should do everything listed in the book. As a reader, I felt comforted by the idea that I can select what resonates with my practice from the material, and it wouldn’t feel weird or out of context just because I didn’t do everything else suggested. Jennie does have a somewhat Wiccan influence on her practice, but it doesn't infiltrate the book to the extent where its annoying to non Wiccan practitioners like me. I love that she gives practical ways to use herbs in household cleaning, explaining both magical and mundane properties of very accessible plants and oils. This book was heart warming and full of the childlike wonder it encourages. Its part on meditation was perhaps mislabeled, as what she described was more of a "mindfulness" practice. But either way, mindfulness is something that helped me tremendously with living a happier more present life. I skimmed over a lot of the baking recipes, but I might re-read that section when I have more time to bake later. -Velvet Rose 🌹

Hi! I finally started my Grimoire, and just wrote my first original spell! I am going to do it tomorrow, as I’m getting the moon water ready tonight. What do you think? :>
Banish negative energy from travel!
Tools: Scissors, (moon, pink salt, or sea salt) water, string, and tape
Steps:
Tape string across doorway
Wet string with water
Infuse string with intentions (Optionally by saying aloud “Let this string hold the ill intentions of the outside on the left, and the protection of this home on the right” and wave the scissors on either side as said)
Take deep breaths, and cut the string in half
Bury the left side of the string (as well as the tape), in your backyard, and keep the right side in a frequently-visited room of your home
“So mote it be” and return the scissors
Ta-da! No more negative outside energy!
(p.s. I thought I’d use the scissors as a sort of wand in this spell! :> )
