Hey! Welcome to my blog. I’m Rory, I write for Julien baker only right now but maybe I’ll open it up to other people soon. Requests are open and encouraged! I don’t have many rules there, just don’t be weird or hateful. I do fluff and smut, maybe angst if you really wanted. blurbs, headcanons, and fics usually. Men dni. I write in first person for my fics but second person for my headcanons and maybe my blurbs. The reader uses she/her/hers and if it’s smut has female features. Now for some things about me…

So a long, long, time ago (in August of 2017) I wrote a fic about the 2017 partial eclipse and set it in the post AYITL universe of that exact time period. I'm not sure it's aged well because it's more than a little psychotic and has way too many Game of Thrones references. I'm not entirely happy with the one scene I wrote with Rory and Jess by themselves and a lot of it is just a Stars Hollow crack fic, but since it's eclipse day, I'm whipping it out again. Yay for me.
One thing I intended to do with the original fic was post a Spotify playlist of the different versions of Total Eclipse of the Heart that Lane and Zach were hired to play in the style of and I totally never did that, so I'm doing it now.
As far as what is actually happening here: Rory is a (tired) new mom of a newborn son, Jess is visiting a lot, and Logan and Rory are co-parenting (offscreen). Everyone is kind of in flux as far as future relationships go.
I've thought about writing a sequel detailing what everyone is up to now (Rory is married to Jess and living in Philadelphia, they have kids of their own and chaotically co-parent with Logan, and I've decided that Luke and Lorelai have a new dog) but it's hard for me to work on fic for a long period of time. I may try to work on it later this week.

what r ur fave hoffstrahm fics/hoffstrahm writers
Here's a list!! Gonna write short descriptions too, so that y'all can find something for yourself if you're looking for a good fic, but you haven't read those yet!
The Henchman of Jigsaw by LarrysBandana - I feel like this is a pretty well-known one (as it should be, it's amazing), but if you haven't heard of this one, it is pretty much a very, very slow burn that is basically a retelling of Saw movies, but make them fully Hoffstrahm-centric! The tension between Mark and Peter and the portrayal of the characters, the writing style - everything is just chef's kiss in this! To be honest, it is one of my favourite fanfics in general too! It is a very slow burn, as I said before though, so do keep that in mind!!
A Thousand Splinters of Glass by not_Sigmis - sadly, this hasn't been updated for a while, I'm still waiting for another chapter though! This is pretty much the famous concept of Hoffman and Strahm getting into the glass coffin together! The sexual tension is so well-done in this one as well and while I read this a long time ago, I still remember the scene where Strahm tends to Hoffman's back wounds there and I adored it so much!! Gotta love that
stitch it closed (kiss it better) by allegedly_writing - again the concept of Hoffman and Strahm getting into the glass coffin together! Except while the previous one is more erotic this one is more on the softer side, which is so lovely done as well! I remember it mainly focused on Strahm taking Hoffman home afterwards and addressing his wounds there <3 God, I love the idea of these two taking care of each other's wounds, can you tell?
and, obviously, the fic I read recently and screamed about it in a previous post and listen I WILL keep screaming about it, because it's GREAT AND ADORABLE ☝️☝️☝️ - reverse parent trap by CassandraCaffrey / @afoxnamedmulder - if you didn't see my previous post this is a Saw x Gilmore Girls crossover fanfic where Peter Strahm and Luke Danes are twin brothers and Hoffstrahm meets Luke/Lorelai!! It's amazing, it's cute, but like them-cute, like the character portrayal of Mark and Peter is so well-done here!!! Luke's and Lorelai's too!!! Gooo read it, go go go, I will keep screaming at y'all about that, because it's SO LOVELY and I can't stop thinking about it still!!!

I want your writing administered into me intravenously. You nail fun, snappy dialogue and lines like a total pro but what hits me the hardest are lines like this.

Like???? that's a crazy beautiful line how dare you! I want to hear every single thought that goes through your mind when you sit down to write. You're one of my favourite writers I've come across on here and I feel like I want to ask you a million questions about writing and how you developed your style. this honestly means so much to me because i notoriously peddle in the genre of Having a Laugh so when the emotional bits i write ALSO resonate that's a moment most pleasing to me in my career <333333
origin story?? oh my gosh WELL, i'm not a fic writer by trade, i used to write a lot of roleplay (hence the obsession with dialogue and original characters l o l) but i take direct and heinous influence from a lot of the art that i consume. like, top three characters that i go back to in terms of they talk good off the top of my head-- lorelai gilmore from gilmore girls, boyd crowder from justified, the drag queen katya zamolodchikova (who is... very much a real person but you get what i mean). every line a poem. every frame a painting. you know the vibes.
i'm a big fan of films from the pre-code era (1930s-40s, before the censorship heavy hays code was introduced) and that influences a lot of the way i write. i got into it from trying to studying that fast-paced way they talk in gilmore girls 8 million years ago and read that amy sherman palladino was matching the pace of like, screwball comedies and borscht belt comedians and that shit makes my brain fizz like an alka seltzer, i love it. things that are short should be punchy and things that are long-winded should have dedicated rhythm. steady like a train, sharp like a razor quoth reese witherspoon from walk the line. that's the GOAL anyway!
also movies from the 70s, 80s, 90s! i realize that this answer is becoming more and more a cacophonous yell of DAMN BUT I LOVE THAT DIALOGUE but damn! i love that dialogue! my thing about a lot of modern productions is they don't do dialogue like they used to and i wish they did! my dialogue style informs my narration so much (i think especially as regards eddie in hellfire & ice, when i write from his pov it's so different from lacy's).

3. What fandoms do you write for?
Stranger Things – specifically Hellcheer, though there are three Eddie-centric ones in there (each with a Hellcheer nod). And I used to write Gilmore Girls.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I'm gonna focus on ST as that's been my main focus for a while now.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yep! I'm so grateful that someone took the time to comment on something I wrote, and I want them to know that! Commenting can be difficult and I like to acknowledge that and give a little kudos in return. Plus, I love engaging with fellow fandomers! As a reader, I like to let someone know I liked their fic with more than kudos if I have the spoons to do it, and I love when an author responds to me when I comment.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
While there can be angst in the ship fic I write, I generally like to give a happy ending. Some can be bittersweet, but not out and out angsty. My ships tend to be canonically tragic, so I want HEAs.
In saying that, Backpack, though short, is definitely not sweet. It's canonical so... yeah.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
As I said, I do tend towards the happier end of the scale (she says, lying through her teeth). I think my two long multi-chapter Hellcheer fics Two guys, a girl, and a cheerleader and Being Human are quite movie-happy ending. And shout out to the Gilmore Girls kind of fix-it Not Time's Fool because that was tooth-achingly sweet, especially with the follow-up Letters to a Lost Love.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nnnnooo, not really? There was one weird one who berated me for writing Literati (GG) when I had the gall to comment and enjoy a fic with a different ship, which was bizarre. Actually, the almost-hate comments tended to be in GG – people can be very cutting when it comes to Rory. The Hellcheer fandom thankfully tends to love both characters equally, and have been nothing but gracious and accepting.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Boy, do I! Try and STOP me writing it – it always sneaks in. F/M and explicit. Ventured into kink a little bit with For a good time call Mary Jane. My smut also tends to be emotionally driven, I can't do PWP.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not crossover in terms of characters from two different fandoms interacting (though there was a Supernatural/J2 done in the style of Fight Club back in the day that was WILD). But my two multi-chaps are based on other shows with ST characters kinda merged with the originals or similar storylines (New Girl and Being Human), but the supernatural elements aside in the latter neither are crazy!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I don't know how it would work but I'm open to it! I spitball a lot with lovely @justhere4thevibez and we've tossed around ideas the other has caught; my dearheart @barriss helped with d&d stuff in fic, and I thrash ideas around with my discord gremlins a lot, so the parts that appear in fic makes it feels like a collab ❤️
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Hellcheer till I die
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have a ton of Hellcheer ideas in the wings – maybe not all of them will come to fruition, but everything I've actually started writing will be finished, I hope.
I do, however, have an unpublished chapter of Literati that I absolutely love, but I ran out of steam as it was going to be a big undertaking, and then I kinda left that fandom so I doubt I'll ever go back to the fic, unfortunately. Pity, coz what I wrote was 🔥 in my humble opinion LMFAO
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I do snappy dialogue well – I love banter, the flow. I like to think I'm funny too, though I feel very Milhouse "my mom thinks I'm funny" when I say that. I also see things in a cinematic way – the scene, the setting, placement, lighting etc – which I think comes across in my writing. At least, I hope it translates to the page!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I suck at planning. I have an idea and I go from there and down the line I'm like "Ohhhh fuck, where was I going with this, how do I do this, WTF IS HAPPENING", and then I panic, can't write, spiral. It mostly comes good in the end (except that GG one, RIP). Self-doubt is the fic-killer.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've never written a character who speaks another language, so have thankfully avoided that pitfall, but I would ask someone who speaks the language to help out, if possible. Google Translate ain't great, but it'll do in a push for some things.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Supernatural waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. When season 1 first came out and they were still battling the yellow-eyed demon and MotW. Ahhh, good, simpler times.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I think my New Girl fic, Two guys, a girl, and a cheerleader. I had a blast seeing how the characters could blend together while still being themselves, as well as using plots from the show to make a full, coherent storyline. I'm ridiculously delighted with the d&d elements of that too – I was so happy with how the True American chapter came out, and I'm very lucky to have had Sabrina's insider knowledge for that to make it what it was ❤️
Though I had great craic writing Mary Jane... And Blood moon sex magick... and I love the Eddie-centric canon-compliant(ish) Back to the Front. Sure look, you gotta be your own biggest fan 😆

So I may or may not be working on a Julie and the Phantoms Cinderella Story.
-So Reggie’s parents suck and his mom basically sells him off to Caleb when he’s 9 to work as an indentured servant. He spends the next 6 years (Reggie is 15 in this fic) working at the Hollywood Ghost Club (unpaid) and serving Caleb and his two kids Claire and Crosby in anyway they see fit.
-Caleb has three kids though, Claire, Crosby, and Willie. Willie is Caleb’s son from a drunken one night stand. His mom Hanna has primary custody, however Caleb is fighting to change that so that he can force Willie to do more publicity stuff with him. Both Hanna and Willie don’t really like Caleb, and only see him whenever it’s necessary. Caleb makes the court agree to these weekly Gilmore Girls style dinners, and Hanna attends all of them because she doesn't trust Caleb.
-Neither of them know Reggie is a live in servant. They think Reggie comes from a poor family and is working so much to help support them.
-Hanna has also recently married Ray Molina, who lost Rose five years earlier. The two clicked and they were able to blend their families together with very few hiccups (Julie and Willie didn’t immediately want to kill each other but after about a year of living together they became good friends, especially after she was one of the first people he came out to.)
-Bobby, who is in an up and coming band with Luke and Alex, just moved in with his uncle Trevor after his family moved to Minnesota so his brothers could be apart of an elite hockey club. So Caleb figures this would be great publicity for Trevor and Markets this as Trevor mentoring his nephew’s band to be the next big thing in music. Bobby was over at Caleb’s house all summer, but never took notice of the boy serving his dinner or poring his drinks.
-Reggie originally went to a dangerous school in North Hollywood but got a full scholarship to Los Feliz. He doesn't tell Caleb that he switched schools though because he knows Caleb wants to keep Reggie as uneducated as possible.

I'm back! (from outer space)
I know for the last month, I went against my own rule of saving posts as drafts until the end of the month. Sorry about that!
But I would say this break from writing was pretty successful! I'm still feeling anxious about certain stories, but I'm not panicking/going down a spiral like I was at the beginning of the year.
I'll give a quick TLDR for some stuff I've been thinking about and will expand on those under the cut:

New Face Claim for Tessa Brown: I've been on the hunt for a new face for Tessa for a little bit. I thought about picking Heather Langenkamp, but right now, I'm leaning more towards Ella Purnell.
I also need to find a new face claim for Tessa's mother if anyone has suggestions.
Discontinuing Black Sheep: This is something I have been sitting on for a while. I talked about before how Black Sheep is a story I'm dreading cuz I just don't like Gilmore Girls. The main things stopping me from outright discontinuing are guilt and love for Riana as a character.
Black Sheep is one of my more popular fics and I feel like I'm being mean to my audience by discontinuing the story.
Right now, I'm thinking I might just move Riana to a different fandom. If anyone has recommendations for shows/movies that take place around the 2000s that you think Riana might fit into, I am all ears!
Rewriting Apprentices of the Abyss: I'm thinking before I start posting Force of Nature: Attack of the Clones, I should go back to the previous book and rewrite it to be much more detailed.
I wanna expand on Eglantine, the 'daki family, and clear up some of the dialogue/story beats cuz it feels forced in the current version.
Beta Reader for Daughter of Mandalore: DoM is a Star Wars fanfic that takes place during Attack of the Clones. It is a sequel and follows the story of a woman trained in the ways of the Sith named Melinoe Lanami.
It is 8 chapters long and is 22386 words long.
If you're interested in beta reading and have any questions, DM me, and we can hopefully work something out.
Pokemon Web Comic Idea: I just really fell in love with this idea of a mockumentary-style Pokemon documentary about three former league champions.
I've been looking into how to do a webcomic, and a lot of the advice is to jump right in, so I'm gonna try and make it my pet art project for the year.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably All Our Memories, They're Haunted, a Deja Vu MV fic in which Yoohyeon slowly descends into killing all her friends.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
This one's hard! I write a lot of fluffy one-shots where the point is the happiness? Like, Days of Splendour is literally about Weilan getting their happy ending wedding.
Similarly, Pivot is a fix-it ending for Critical Role season 1, in which Vax doesn't die and Gilmore gets to date him, too.
And The Fringe Benefits Of Being Family is fluffy future kidfic snippets in which Weilan get to be parents while their girls grow up.
Do you get hate on fics?
I once got a backhanded compliment on a fic where the commenter asserted they didn't usually read this ship because the shippers are all sus for shipping it and did it wrong, but my take passed their sniff-test. But they'd keep a close eye on my next work for this ship, just in case.
I vaguely recall getting a comment once and then immediately deleting it, but I can't for the life of me remember why. Probably for the best?
And there was that ask I once got that sticks in my brain because it was HILARIOUS. It asserted that because I have a recognizable style and used things like. Grammar and paragraph formatting for pacing, my writing was dry and boring and the worst and I just was copying myself with every new fic. I screenshot it and had a good laugh with friends over it :D
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, and a lot of different kinds! Sometimes I want to explore certain kinks, like tentacles (What Lies In Darkness, Weilan with eldritch!Shen Wei) or D/s (Good Vibrations, Dom!ZYL with sub!Shen Wei). Other times I just want to explore the relationship between the characters (Special Occasion, Weilan birthday blowjob) or worldbuilding (Long Night In Longcheng, Weilan canon au with dragon!Shen Wei).
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I love crossovers! I sadly haven't written too many, though. I have some old WIPs for a Naruto x Batman Beyond and a YGO! x SG-1 crossovers in my pile I occasionally return to, but nowhere close to finished. And I'm seriously considering writing a Guardian x Grimm crossover at some point lol

Have you ever had a fic stolen?
The closest I got (that I'm aware of) is someone copying the exact premise of my fic in a beat-by-beat way without crediting me for the inspiration. It was memorable because it was my most popular fic at that point and the fandom didn't have a similar premise before.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Recently someone Furimmer translated my story An Intimate Touch into Russian! First time someone found my fic worth it to translate, I'm so happy still just thinking about it :D (It's also interesting to see they chose a different snippet to highlight in the summary, ha! That one seemed to resonate with them more. Can't blame them ;) )

What's your all-time favorite ship? Weilan (Guardian), Nick/Renard/Juliette (Grimm), and Jane/Uma (Disney's Descendants). I tend to be a multishipper, but these never fail to get me in the feels :D
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Of my posted WIPs: Hey Baby (I Think I Wanna Marry You), Shipwreck Isles, Your Prince Is In Another Castle, and Triple Duke Coup. Probably Ghost of a Chance, too, unless I get inspired by writing different YGO! fic to pick it up again. I'm 50-50 on whether I'll find motivation to finish Let Your Hearts' Melody Entwine With Mine
Of my unposted WIPs, if I've moved on from the fandom, I'm unlikely to put them up. That's why I posted a deluge of WIPs when I left the ragehappy fandom, because I couldn't see myself picking them up again, but I also regularly regret not e.g. having posted certain Naruto fic way back when I was writing them. Now the quality just doesn't hold up to my current standard, but I'm not going back to edit them, either.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at dialogue and fighting scenes! I practiced writing fighting scenes a lot because they used to be one of my weak spots, and now I'm comfy where I'm at skill level wise. I like pitting characters against each other, too, though I still have room for improvement in that area.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Environmental storytelling. Character conflict that lasts longer than a handful of scenes. 15k+ longfic (I'm terribly at keeping myself motivated to write them and then never finish). Slow burn and character/relationship development that takes a while to get to (keeping characters consistent but still having them change is hard to juggle! Especially since I have a tendency to write scenes out of order)
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it's a language I know, I'm comfortable with it! It needs to be done for effect, though. Unless we're talking prefixes/suffixes and other addresses of respect/relation that just don't translate well (e.g. yifu, shixiong, xiao/lao, -kun, -senpai, etc.) but reveal information about the exact way characters relate to each other.
First fandom you wrote for? Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (back on German fanfic site Animexx). It was a self-insert OC portal fic where she ends up with Seto Kaiba xD I think I named her Leia or similar? I forget.
Favorite fic you've written?
The fic I'm writing for FFFX rn is a serious contender for top spot, if I manage to pull it off the way I imagine it.
I'm still pretty proud of Two Of A Kind (Guardian, Ya Qing/Zhu Hong & Shen Wei) and Safe In Your Hands (Weilan, post-canon with smut). The older a work is, the more I tend to see the flaws in it :') so my answers usually tend to be pretty recent stuff!
