💖 What made you start writing?
I started writing again because I was being plagued with A Weird AU for Emergency!... which I still need to get back to, but Guardian has eaten my higher thought processes. That's not such a bad thing, though.
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
Honestly? Shen Wei. He's a lot of fun to, uh. Stab, a little. Or a lot, let's be real here.
It's a hell of a time being my favourite character.

Right now it's mainly various Kdramas (The Devil Judge, Black Knight, plus my bold venture into Strangers From Hell) but, before that, it was mostly The Losers, Marvel, Pacific Rim, and Teen Wolf. With the occasional detour here and there.

It's honestly a little wild to me that Who Holds the Devil has somehow managed to race to the top despite the other fics being at least four years older (sometimes more). And for a much bigger fandom, at that. You guys are not fucking around.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Every single one if I can, though it can sometimes take a while before I get to all of them. And I just can't help it, I guess? Partly because I want to show that I've read the comment and appreciate the time and effort that went into writing it, but also because it often gives me an opportunity to talk about my writing and the choices I made in the fic.
And, apparently, the fact that I reply to all comments has become a bit of a thing at least when it comes to Who Holds the Devil, where readers will search through my replies looking for tidbits and extra information about the fic, characters etc.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Grief (The Losers (Comics)). Because it is, predictably, about grief and how to keep living after someone you love has died. Though I would argue that the ending has a hint of hopefulness to it since it's also about moving on from said grief?
But yeah. Definitely that one since it's Major Character Death that I choose not to fix.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Literally every single fic except for the one above xD I LOVE my happy endings, okay? And it's kind of difficult to rank them since it depends a lot on the setting, characters, and the personal preference of the reader.
Heck, I even managed to give my Strangers From Hell fanfic a sugary sweet happy ending! That's dedication right there!
Do you get hate on fics?
Yeah, from time to time. I've gotten everything from childish insults calling me a bad writer to backhanded comments questioning my choices, writing style, grammar, spelling, dedication, intelligence, etc. I've even received more targeted, personal hate where people I thought I could trust were making fun of me behind my back in private chat rooms.
Most recently, though, it's less hate and more the "I simply must tell you that you're not writing this fic as I want you to write it" type of deal. Often paired with "It's my personal opinion and I have every right to express it." Which, fair enough. But that means I get to do the same, which I've noticed is something those kinds of commenters kind of hate. Especially when I point out that they've now made me a lot less keen to write the fanfic they're supposedly so fond of.
Turns out people don't like being reminded that their actions have consequences.
All in all, though, I've learned to just delete the comments I find too offensive or hateful.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Oh god no. Sex scenes are the bane of my existence and I spend the entire time writing them looking like this: ლ(ಥ益ಥლ)
I've been told I'm not bad at writing them (the ones in Until Death Do Us Unite were quite appreciated) but anything involving sex or sexual tension is just a nightmare for me. Even more so when it's supposed to be kinky or extra spicy.
So why is one of the main ships I write for right now clearly a Dom/sub ship, you ask?
Because I'm an idiot. That's why.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you've written?
I rarely do. The only crossover I've written is Resurrection where Derek Hale ends up in Purgatory together with Dean Winchester and they fight their way back to the world of the living (so Derek replaces Benny, basically).
I also have this one random fic (yet unposted) where Tony Stark and Eddie Brock are a couple (from the MCU and Venom movies, that is). But they're technically both in the Marvel universe so I'm not sure if that counts?
Long story short, crossovers aren't really my thing. I rarely write or read them.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, no.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have! Several, in fact, from various fandoms. Mostly into Russian, Spanish, or Mandarin. And I am honestly so flattered every time someone asks me if they can translate one of my fics 💜
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not, no. I made plans to write a fic with a friend once, but we never got to the point of actually writing it. And, in all honesty, I think that might be just as well. I'm a perfectionist and writing a fic with me would probably be very exhausting for the other party xD
What's your all-time favourite ship?
I really don't know. Like, I'm tempted to say Jensen and Cougar from The Losers, or maybe Destiel or Stony, but I think that's partly founded in comfort and nostalgia. My ships change as I do and I really can't pinpoint an all-time favourite.
But CURRENT favourite? Definitely Kang Yo Han and Kim Ga On because they present such a wonderful challenge to someone like me, who loves to go real deep into character motivations, behaviour etc. They're a delight.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I'm not sure. I plan to finish all the ones I've started posting but there might be some in my folders that I'll decide to abandon if I truly can't revive my interest in them. But, usually, I can.
And, speaking of that, to all my MCU peeps (if there are any of you still out there): I know you've waited six years for the Tech Support sequel but it's finally been written and just needs to be edited. It's coming, my darlings. I promise.
Basically, when I say I'll do something, I will do it — even if it takes me six goddamn years, apparently x'D
What are your writing strengths?
Characters, tone, and emotions. I'm good at capturing the essence of the characters and write them in a way that feels believable and close to canon. I'm also really good at making people feel things with my writing, I've been told. According to testimonials, my readers can often see what's happening play out inside their heads like a movie, and feel the characters' emotions as they're living through them.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Aside from the aforementioned sex scenes? I think it's my inability to keep things short. I use a lot of unnecessary words and could definitely get better at being more concise. In a similar vein, I sometimes focus so much on the details with lengthy, wordy descriptions that I accidentally forget about the big picture, which is understandably confusing to my readers.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've done it from time to time (since my man Cougar speaks Spanish) but I'm pretty careful with it. And if it's longer sentences I always make sure to double-check with a native speaker.
First fandom you wrote for?
Teen Wolf! Which, admittedly, was because I didn't care if I fucked it up x'D I enjoyed the first two seasons of Teen Wolf, make no mistake! But I chose it mainly because it wasn't the ship I was the most emotionally invested in and so I figured it wouldn't feel as bad if it turned out that I sucked. Luckily enough for me, I didn't xD
Favourite fic you've written?
Just like with the all-time favourite ship, I'm not sure if I can answer this one. Because I like all of my fics but in different ways.
I'll always have a fondness for that first huge Teen Wolf series I wrote, for example, and had a lot of fun with Autonomy because of the world-building. Same goes with Hyperborean. But Who Holds the Devil is definitely my favourite when it comes to character work. While Allies is my favourite when it comes to tone, since it ended up just the way I wanted it to. And Until Death Do Us Unite was an absolute BLAST because I got to write horror and some really weirdass shit, which I've never done before.
So, truly, I can't say. Each one I've written has something I cherish and while some definitely stand out more than others, I wouldn't be able to just pick one.

Writing Patterns

Shen Wei comes to awareness slowly. (Out of near-death - Guardian, Shen Wei-centric)
“What are you doing?” Zhao Yunlan asks. (The light of new beginnings - Guardian, Weilan)
It’s not the first time Zhao Yunlan sees the Ghost Slayer fight. (Raw - Guardian (novel-verse), Pre-canon (?) Weilan)
Almost a year passes in between the end of the Guardian promo tour and the next time they see each other. (The shared art of drowning - RPF, Zhubai)
It’s late afternoon, the sun slowly starting to creep towards the horizon. (Learning curve - Guardian, Guo Changcheng and Shen Wei-centric)
His back aches. (But pursue no regrets - DMBJ, Pangxie)
It starts, as many thing do, with a question in a group chat on a Sunday afternoon: Is professor Shen okay? (The grace of care - Guardian, Shen Wei and Jiajia-centric)
“It shouldn’t be possible,” Zhao Xinci grumbles, “and yet here we are.” (Exchange - Guardian, platonic Weilan i guess? Zyl is literally a child in this and they’re meeting for the first time idk)
Lao-Zhao’s doing it again. (Petrichor - Guardian, Weilan, Da Qing POV)
Blood isn’t hard to get off the kitchen floor. (The easy part - Guardian, Zhao Yunlan-centric)
Patterns: I like to start with shorter sentences, to quickly draw the reader in. I either start with something to introduce the setting a little bit but with a twist, or with some action. I try not to open with (too much) exposition or description, instead trying to make my first sentence immediately evoke questions: what is wrong with Shen Wei? What is he doing?? Blood on the floor??? Developing the pace and mood of the piece first, and only then delving deeper into the real setting and what is actually going on. If I can I like to put my readers on the wrong foot a little at the start: e.g. ‘exchange’ isn’t about zxc at all. The first sentence for me is all about drawing the reader in, and once I’ve got them, that is when I start explaining myself. (There are exceptions to this, where I start with the setting right away, e.g. in ‘learning curve’, but i tend to look back on those as my weaker opening lines/paragraphs :)).

[Feedback for NFG Conference 2023] Guardian, outsider POV. I cheated here a little bit since it's in an email format and otherwise it wouldn't be a very indicative first sentence!

Ok, looking at the first lines I really do have a habit of starting with a snippet of dialogue! I never would have noticed that. I wonder whether it's something I've started doing recently, or whether it's like that all the way down (since a load of these fics were written very close together)...

What fandoms do you write for? recently I used to write the most to Guardian and Weilan derivatives (Luolin!~) but I am slowly and surely slowing down on writing altogether
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? skipping that one, I am certain I answered this one around five times and the answer is still the same. I can say that my most kudosed work is at 1,220, because I think this is the only new info I can offer on the topic.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I love writing comments and responding to them, no matter how much time passed! It's great to get a comment on something I posted around 10 years ago and remember what I thought about, how I saw that ship back then, and all that, plus sometimes people simply share their thoughts about the canon work itself in the comments and I love to have discussions with people I would not meet otherwise.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? eh, idk? My angst-meter is broken, so I cannot discern what is the saddest thing I committed. Probably either Unceasing Path (Luolin) or When I Make an Oath to the Flames (Weilan), but I don't know really.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? well, not sure at all either. But I think the Grindeldore series?
Do you get hate on fics? More like hate on me personally, but not often, thankfully
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I don't. Usually the story I want to tell doesn't need any sex scenes, because the emotions that would come up in those were already explored earlier, in a different way, and I do find them boring, so why force myself.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Oh, I absolutely do and I enjoy them both in reading and in writing. Weilan derivs are crossovers already, so I've written quite a lot of those. I think the craziest crossovers I've written are also the ones I will not publish, so I shall remain silent 😆

What's your all-time favorite ship? No idea, any time I find a new ship I adore it pretty much looks like this:
What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have only one WIP in the works and I am pretty sure I will finish it, as for the rest - I only have ideas and I might end up abandoning them and never doing anything about them, so not exactly WIPs, are they
What are your writing strengths? I guess variety? I like changing genres and styles, to have fun with POVs and different settings?
What are your writing weaknesses? I am rather careless, keep on making typos, changing my idea of a sentence after writing half of it, forgetting which version of the plot I am ultimately going with, so I am a mess that keeps on updating stories years after publishing them because I spotted yet another typo while scrolling through them.
First fandom you wrote for? Inuyasha, an OC that was the main hero's half-sister, trying to fit into the family after realising she has it. It was a gen fic, surprise, surprise, and it ended up in a crossover with another girl running an Inuyasha blog - our respective characters made guest appearances in our stories. It was fun.
Favorite fic you've written? No idea. Really, depends on the mood, I sometimes think I did a good job with something, other times I decide everything I've written is terrible in new, exciting ways

1. Are you named after anyone?
I am not. My grandmother picked my name to somewhat match my big sister's (we both have names beginning with L) but that's about it.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I guess yesterday? Because my back pain suddenly got ten times worse and sometimes when I tried to move I'd get a stabbing sensation that made me spontaneously start crying. Which is pretty impressive considering that I have a pretty high pain tolerance.
It was also confusing because it wasn't a conscious choice of mine or anything. My body just decided it hurt too much and therefore tears were required. While I was just completely baffled by what was happening because crying from pain isn't something I do very often.
It was an interesting experience.
3. Do you have kids?
Nope.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not anymore, no. When I was a teenager, it seemed to be the only kind of humour I could actually pull off, but I've been steering away from it more and more. Now I'm saving it for special occasions ;)
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
I genuinely can't say. I think it depends more on the person I'm seeing/meeting than anything I have control over. Like, with some I might notice their posture, with others it's their hair colour (if it's something very noticeable), with others it's the way they speak.
I really don't have a set order or something I look for first.
6. What's your eye colour?
Greenish blue
7. Scary movie or happy ending?
Happy ending. Always.
8. Any special talents?
I'm really good with my hands and usually excel at most types of crafts or creative pursuits I attempt, from art and sculpturing to sewing, weaving, embroidery, making furniture, baking etc.
I'm also good at reading people and situations, which comes in handy when I write.
9. Where were you born?
In the north of Sweden.
10. What are your hobbies?
Honestly too many to count. But the ones I spend most time on right now are drawing, writing, reading, playing video games, and taking walks.
11. Do you have pets?
Sadly, no :C
But I grew up with dogs and love them to absolute bits. One of my favourite words in Swedish is "hundlängtan" which basically just means "dog longing" or "longing for a dog."
That's me. I am in a perpetual state of longing for a dog.
12. What sports do you/have you played?
Basketball, floorball, and badminton were the most organised, but I also did gymnastics and skiing as a kid.
13. How tall are you?
176 cm (5'9)
14. Favourite subject in high school?
History! Because I had an AMAZING teacher who made it so, so much fun, especially with the ugly little drawings he kept making on the whiteboard. Half of the time, we couldn't even see what he was drawing, but that was a part of the charm.
I also really liked English :)
15. Dream job?
I would honestly love to be an artist or a writer full-time, but I'm too scared (and comfortable with my current salary) to attempt it. But if I could choose without having to take finances into consideration? Definitely an artist or a writer.

15 questions for 15 mutuals:
are you named after anyone? - nope but apparently all the younger kids on the maternal side of the family got named after me? we don’t really do generational names in vietnamese I think (my older cousins all have different names), but all the younger kids’ names start the same as mine.
when was the last time you cried? - probably during my rewatch of “lighting up the stars”? but actual cry was in january after 25h travel to vietnam and then all the stress got to me and I was annoyed at my family.
do you have any kids? - no, and I don’t want any. I’m slowly starting to look around for a hysterectomy now that I’m turning 30 soon and hopefully doctors are more open to doing that procedure on 30+ years old patients.
do you use sarcasm a lot? - rarely. my brain is too slow to come up with sarcasm.
what sports do you/have you played? - currently none. I tried some but never stuck with anything. swimming, yoga, kung fu, iaido, ice skating... I’m too tired after work to commit to any sports. I do want to look into martial arts in the future, most likely vovinam. the most I do now is playing just dance on the switch once every few weeks. also I want a VR gaming set for beat saber.
what’s the first thing you notice about people? - idk I don’t really pay attention to people lmao. wish I wouldn’t notice the smell of others, I feel like my nose is too sensitive.
eye color? - brown
scary movies or happy endings? - HE! I don’t really like to watch scary stuff.
any special talents? - none in particular I think?
where were you born? - Berlin
any hobbies? - karaoke, reading, translation (in theory, haven’t done that in a while...)
do you have any pets? - no, never wanted any. I can’t even take care of myself properly. also all the fur and poop? nah.
how tall are you? - 152 cm (4′11″).
favorite subject in school? - english because it was easy.
dream job? - I do not dream of labour. as a kid I wanted to be a scientist but seeing all of them at work just writing project and grant proposals, research papers, etc. I’m glad I didn’t go in that direction. working as a lab technician is enough, though I do hate working with chemicals... another childhood dream was editor but I don’t think reading for work would be fun. also I’m not good with analysing text. if we ever get unconditional basic income I’d be ok with any job as long as I don’t have to work more than 15h per week and I don’t have to get dirty.

...honestly none of them? It was a pretty spare year as commenting went. Maybe Composite Events because I actually figured that no one would read it at all? I feel like most of what I wrote flopped this year, tbh. OTZ
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
...I accumulate WiPs like drifts of used tissues in allergy season. BUT I WILL BRAVE THE DRIFTS TO GO COUNT FOR YOU. XD (But I'm going to keep the list to WiPs I'm actually likely to pick at and are actually started, not just plot bunnies.)

ohhh, would you elaborate on "the boys get fucked up, but like. canon this time (Breaking Point)" please? :D
Ah, that's a fic for Emergency!, for my weird-ass dragon AU. In essence, the human boys of Station 51 get clobbered in canon season 5. Electrocutions, car accidents. All sorts of nasty shit. The one dragon of the group, Mike Stoker, is very distressed by this, to the point of night terrors.
The true breaking point is when his partner, Hank Stanley, gets electrocuted via downed power lines on an accident scene. This leads to Mike saying "FUCK IT" and starts planning to enact Ascendancy—where humans become dragons. It is the best he can do to protect his squishy companions.
Then, of course, John Gage gets hit by a car and that shoves the plans back. Can't Ascend an injured man, the risks of death increase exponentially. Especially when he's down his spleen.
Thus begins the Ascension Arc of this funky au!
If you wish to read what I already have of it, take this! (Also I'm down to yodel more about this AU to anyone that wants to know. Maybe it'll shake some of the cobwebs out, eh?)

It’s quiet at the rest stop they’re sleeping at - save for Gladio’s snoring as usual - in a way utterly unlike the hustle and bustle of Insomnia at night. Noctis can’t help but miss his home and its creature comforts, but the silence unsettles him. Instead of tranquility, the quietude feels like failure.

Last Song: Lost by Linkin Park because I apparently like to torture myself. I only found out about it earlier this week and now I can't stop listening to it, even if it hurts so incredibly much. I never thought I'd hear a new song with Chester, so many years after he died.
Reading: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, We Have Always Lived In the Castle by Shirley Jackson, and Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (I need more chapter titles for Who Holds the Devil x'D)
Watching: Jennifer's Body! Or I will very soon, at least, after I've finished writing this post xD I've been meaning to watch that movie for AGES now and I'm finally getting to it! 💜 I'm currently in a phase where I want to watch more movies than shows, it seems like... Though I did watch Happy Merry Ending the other day. It was cute!
Current Obsession: Dioramas. As in, I want to make my own. But not one that has to stand on a table (who has room for that?) but, like, one inside a shelf that I can hang on my wall, preferably with a lamp inside it so it can double as, well, a lamp. I'm currently in the process of gathering supplies and watching a bunch of tutorials and stuff on YouTube. Because I DEFINITELY needed a new hobby — especially a creative one. But, in my defence, it involves skills I already have, like painting, sculpturing, design etc. So it just seems reasonable to do something that makes use of all of those talents, I guess? Either way, I'm VERY excited!
And writing, I guess. I'm always obsessing over my writing, it feels like. Right now I'm trying to edit chapter 8 of Until Death Do Us Unite so I can finish writing my chapter of A New Dawn (Begins With Us) and, hopefully, after THAT I can write chapter 35 of Who Holds the Devil.

last line game
I was tagged by @forerussake to post the last line I've written, which! Fittingly, is from a WIP that was inspired by eru's to bring the sun down to his knees and have him taste the rainbow (Zhu Yilong/Bai Yu/OC poly RPF) 😍 and our subsequent conversations.
However, in the process of writing it just kind of turned into Bai Yu and our Unnamed Photographer... talking, and I don't think the scene I had in mind when I started jotting down lines will even make it into the fic. Love when that happens!
In the early stages of writing, I will just collect snippets of dialogues as they come to me, sometimes severely out of order, and then once I feel ready to start writing-writing, the snippets turn into paragraphs and gaps are filled in. As such, this is the last line I jotted down:
This is revenge for all the black and white filters, isn't it.
It'll make sense in context. Or it'll get scrapped when I get to that part of the fic. Who knows! 😀
