1. Are you named after anyone?

I am not. My grandmother picked my name to somewhat match my big sister's (we both have names beginning with L) but that's about it.

2. When was the last time you cried?

I guess yesterday? Because my back pain suddenly got ten times worse and sometimes when I tried to move I'd get a stabbing sensation that made me spontaneously start crying. Which is pretty impressive considering that I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

It was also confusing because it wasn't a conscious choice of mine or anything. My body just decided it hurt too much and therefore tears were required. While I was just completely baffled by what was happening because crying from pain isn't something I do very often.

It was an interesting experience.

3. Do you have kids?

Nope.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Not anymore, no. When I was a teenager, it seemed to be the only kind of humour I could actually pull off, but I've been steering away from it more and more. Now I'm saving it for special occasions ;)

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

I genuinely can't say. I think it depends more on the person I'm seeing/meeting than anything I have control over. Like, with some I might notice their posture, with others it's their hair colour (if it's something very noticeable), with others it's the way they speak.

I really don't have a set order or something I look for first.

6. What's your eye colour?

Greenish blue

7. Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy ending. Always.

8. Any special talents?

I'm really good with my hands and usually excel at most types of crafts or creative pursuits I attempt, from art and sculpturing to sewing, weaving, embroidery, making furniture, baking etc.

I'm also good at reading people and situations, which comes in handy when I write.

9. Where were you born?

In the north of Sweden.

10. What are your hobbies?

Honestly too many to count. But the ones I spend most time on right now are drawing, writing, reading, playing video games, and taking walks.

11. Do you have pets?

Sadly, no :C

But I grew up with dogs and love them to absolute bits. One of my favourite words in Swedish is "hundlängtan" which basically just means "dog longing" or "longing for a dog."

That's me. I am in a perpetual state of longing for a dog.

12. What sports do you/have you played?

Basketball, floorball, and badminton were the most organised, but I also did gymnastics and skiing as a kid.

13. How tall are you?

176 cm (5'9)

14. Favourite subject in high school?

History! Because I had an AMAZING teacher who made it so, so much fun, especially with the ugly little drawings he kept making on the whiteboard. Half of the time, we couldn't even see what he was drawing, but that was a part of the charm.

I also really liked English :)

15. Dream job?

I would honestly love to be an artist or a writer full-time, but I'm too scared (and comfortable with my current salary) to attempt it. But if I could choose without having to take finances into consideration? Definitely an artist or a writer.

Sometimes you just have to go back to your roots and, in my case, that's coloured pencils. I've been so focused on my digital art lately that I honestly forget that I can do pretty amazing stuff in traditional media as well. So this was a nice change of pace.

Also, this sketch is literally 13 years old. It lay forgotten for the majority of those years but then I found it again and decided to keep working on it. So let it never be said that I don't finish what I start xD

hi! i love your art!!!!! can you tell us about your OC who is the star for November? i think i read somewhere that he was hard to draw because there was an allure and mystery about him you felt is best captured by words, but he's so intriguing here. that charm/mystery/beauty/magic combo that's devastating

Hi! Thank you so much, darling 💜 And thank you for the question! I admit I hadn't expected anyone to really care about my characters xD

The OC's name is Nightshade. Or, rather, that's the name he chose for himself since he tends to reject his birth name (sometimes he doesn't even know what his birth name is). He's an OC I created back in 2010-2011 and he's gone through quite some variations since then, probably because I've used him in several different roleplays. He's rarely the main character, though, but rather the one I push into play when things need to happen because he will ALWAYS stir shit up, one way or another. Sometimes as the antagonist but, more often than not, as a morally grey third party who does whatever the fuck he wants.

He should probably be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder but, since he's so good at copying emotions and manipulating people, no one can really tell. The only one who DOES know is his not-husband (but also definitely his husband) Acheron Whittemore who is played by @sjazna. Nightshade tends to imprint on Acheron like a duckling the first time he sees him and then just... never leaves him. Ever. Which is fine by Acheron who should probably also be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, but he's so rich that people don't dare to tell him that to his face.

Nightshade and Acheron have that dynamic where literally nothing else in the world matters but the other and they will burn it to the ground if either of them gets hurt.

(A small problem, though, is that Acheron is as thick as a goddamn brick when it comes to emotions so Nightshade usually pines for a minimum of five years — often closer to ten — before Acheron catches on and realises that Nightshade is in love with him. And it usually takes something really dramatic, like either of them almost dying, before he does so. It's so tragic it's kind of hilarious)

Anyway, Nightshade is one of those characters who's very, very versatile. He can fit into almost any setting and, thanks to his habit of manipulating people, he can also weasel his way into almost any plot you can think of. If he wants to be there, he'll be there.

Because aside from the manipulation part, he's also just very charming in general. He's the kind of person who walks into a room and EVERYONE notices. Not because he's necessarily the most conventionally attractive, but because he's good at presenting himself in a way that's very appealing and eye-catching. And that's why I say he's difficult to draw since he's meant to be a character who's incredibly attractive, but it's not just because of how he looks, but also the way he moves and talks and phrases himself. He's very sensual and graceful, and has a confidence and gravitas that's difficult to capture in one still image.

(Basically, writing and roleplaying Nightshade for several years is probably one of the reasons why it's so easy for me to write Kang Yo Han. I've gotten a lot of practice on how to convey that sort of magnetism xD)

Despite being so versatile, there are always some things that remain the same with Nightshade, though, which is that he's an orphan of unknown age and origin, that he chooses the name Nightshade, his preferred professions are sex worker or assassin (sometimes both at the same time because why not?), he always finds Acheron somehow, and he likes to collect people (who aren't Acheron) like they're Pokémon (i.e. he sees them as pets). He is also a Professional Dramatic Bitch who is an expert at copying emotions but throws a tantrum as soon as he has to deal with his own.

So yeah. Nightshade is a Wild Ride (quite literally if you're willing to pay him ;D)

Fun fact: Nightshade is technically non-binary (he/they) but he's so focused on murder and pining after Acheron that he doesn't realise. It doesn't come naturally to him to explore that sort of thing, so unless someone tells him directly about the concept, he usually never understands that about himself. It DOES show in how he dresses, however, since he often mixes what society deems as feminine and masculine without giving a single fuck. It can also be seen in how he insists on picking his own name since the male name he's usually given isn't one he can identify with. He prefers something gender-neutral.

This might be slightly disappointing for you since it's not about ACTUAL dancing xD

This is another one of my super old WIPs that's been lying around in my folder for ages but I'm too attached to it to let it go. It's basically a series of pose sketches — ten in total — of a brief scene between Steve and Tony (because I'm still a Stony shipper at heart).

There's no dialogue for it, though it's implied that they're having a conversation of some kind — one where Tony is being a flirty/snarky/annoying little shit, as per usual. And once I had finished all the sketches and kept flipping through them it just felt like they were dancing? Figuratively? But also kind of literally? So that's what I named it.

Here are the first four sketches, anyway:

I really do want to finish it. The plan isn't for it to be all that complex, tbh (like, I'll obviously only have to make the background once xD) I just haven't gotten to it. But some day I will!

I posted one of these five years ago and I figured it was time to make an updated version. Especially since this is basically 20 years of art progress. That's pretty mindblowing, isn't it?

And, in all honesty, the only thing I feel when looking at those oldest drawings is love. Because, oh man, I still remember what that was like — the joy, excitement, and pride at what I was able to draw. And if the old me could see what I can do now? She'd probably burst out crying.

You did it, Baby Lienwyn. It took time, but you got there in the end.

hello! niki here :) I got the tag game and I’m working on my own post (thank u for tagging me btw! it was so sweet and interesting to see someone being tagged for art!) and I was wondering about the story behind the wip “Beach Hunt” *-* such an intriguing title, tell us more! (if u want to, of course). have a lovely rest of your day :)

Hi there, darling! 💜 I'm so glad to hear you're going to play! :D

As for the "Beach Hunt" WIP, it's actually very simple and straightforward. You see, my friend @sjazna and I have been roleplaying for... over half of my life now (my GOD) and sometimes we like to make things easy for ourselves, but also explore worlds or settings that we know and love.

So, to make a long story short, for one roleplay, we set it in the (somewhat altered) world of Final Fantasy XII, because we both love that game to absolute BITS. And one of the side quests you can do in that game is to go on Hunts, i.e. track down rare monsters and kill them to earn money and loot.

So the drawing is basically two of our characters from that roleplay (one being this dude of mine) going on a Hunt on a beach. Very straightforward xD Though, admittedly, I haven't gotten very far:

One of the downsides of how my drawing process works is that if I leave a WIP at this stage, it takes A LOT of effort before I manage to push through and actually finish it. Maybe I should just make it a habit to STOP doing that? xD

But yeah! That's "Beach Hunt"! :D

Just like last year, I had a goal to draw at least one drawing each month so here are my favourites! Though I admit I wish I had drawn more, especially with traditional media. Then again, I've been struggling with pain in my right wrist for over a year now so it's partly due to health reasons.

And, as a result, my relationship with my art is currently quite tricky. While I can tell on an intellectual level that I'm not bad at drawing, it feels like I am. And, quite often, I find myself asking why I even bother. Which is confusing since I LOVE drawing. But I guess we all end up in slumps sometimes?

Here's to hoping that 2024 will be more optimistic! :D

That moment when you have a character you realise you'll never be able to draw accurately since most of his charm lies in the way he moves and his overall aura. I'm a masochist, clearly.

My OC Nightshade, anyway, who is an absolute PAIN to draw. But this is definitely my most successful attempt so far! So there's that :D

I didn't like the banner for my Black Knight fanfic so I drew a new one. As you do xD

And yes, there is A LOT of symbolism in the composition that connects back to the themes and plot of the fic. Because I'm Deep Like That.
