Nana Shimura's guilt
Ok, so I'm sure plenty of people have noticed that in the latest chapter Nana has been insisting that Izuku must kill Shigaraki and that he's a wall that Izuku doesn't have to climb over. And I want to discus that as whilst I certainly don't agree with her, I find her reasons for such a perspective to be fascinating.
But let's begin with a trend I've noticed in any chapters where Nana and the vestiges talk about Shigaraki, and that's the fact that despite originally agreeing to go along with Izuku's wish to save Shigaraki they constantly refer to him as an 'it' or a 'thing' more often describing him as something less then human. And whilst it may not be surprising for the others to refer to him this way, it is incredibly disturbing that Nana his own grandmother seems the most determined to remove Shigaraki's humanity.
In fact it appears to be a theme that anyone who had a personal stake in how Shigaraki came to be are the one's most determined to ignore any sign of personhood inside him. This can be seen with Grand Torino, who despite having come to the realisation that his and Nana's decision was a mistake, seems to double down and tries to convince Izuku that killing Tomura is the better option; hell, literally the moment Shigaraki's identity is reviled he is the one to convince All Might that he isn't worth saving and that no matter his bloodline he's still a villain.
And he says this with full confidence despite the fact All For One outright told them both that he deliberately groomed Shigaraki to hate All Might and only chose him to mess with his enemy.
Even All Might chose to give up on Shigaraki very quickly and hasn't even thought about him since he found out, which is honestly really sad because of all people he should have been the one who cared the most, especially since he knows one of the only reasons All For One chose to mess with Shigaraki was to hurt him.
Which brings me back to Nanna and why she is acting the way she is and honestly, it's most likely due to a number of reasons and guilt is likely the most prominent one. After all it was her choices which led to Kotaro becoming traumatised and despising hero's, and it was because she was a wielder of One For All that her family/Tenko was targeted. Now I'm not saying it's Nana's fault Kotaro became an abuser, after all he was a grown man who was more than responsible for the way he handled his trauma however, that doesn't erase the fact that she was the root of his hatred which he passed down onto his son.
Not to mention she knows that the main reason Tenko was targeted was for revenge against her for defying All For One, so not only dose she have to deal with the fact that her son abused his child to near insanity but also her mortal enemy, who killed her, her master and tried to kill her student also groomed her grandchild to hate her, hero's and to become his next vessel.
That a lot of guilt for anyone to be burdened with and whilst it isn't directly her fault, the birth of Shigaraki is a result of the legacy she left behind.
And she obviously can't cope with that because if she did, it would basically invalidate every sacrifice she made for the sake of protecting One For All, so what dose she do? Well she makes a very human mistake and choses to ignore it. After all if Shigaraki is just a monster, a creature beyond human understanding then she doesn't have to face the guilt, "it was out of my hands, what could I have done?" "there's no point in dwelling on what could have been".
Ironically it's the same response All For One had regarding his own humanity. Essentially she's taking the responsibility out of her hands in order to protect herself because if she dose acknowledge it, it would essentially be an ego death for her and well humans are naturally programmed to protect ourselves at all costs. It's not nice but it's the truth, which honestly makes someone like Izuku stand out more.
Izuku has no reason to sympathies with Shigaraki, he has no idea what he's gone through or the history behind his creation but despite that he is the only person on the hero's side who has NEVER ignored him. Hell, even back in the mall scene where Shigaraki practically had him a gun point he still took the time to listen to him and give him a proper answer to his question and clearly what Shigaraki said meant something to him as he ask's All Might about it later.
It's clear that ever since these two have met that for some reason, whether it be the legacies they both carry or the fact that Izuku is just an innately empathetic person, these two have shared a connection. It's like Izuku and Shigaraki said, it's almost like fate has brought them together and we'll just have to see however that played out.
However, it's abundantly clear that whatever might happen between the two of them for Shigaraki to be truly be saved Nana and by extension all others who have kindly rejected Shigaraki will have to eventually accept that he is in fact human. They cannot keep pushing things under the rug because Izuku won't let them.

jin kazama & lars alexandersson: 'tragic hero' lovers - depressed, traumatised emo kid with only one thing on his mind: revenge. and a swedish rebel leader who's a hopeless romantic. the first most likely would not form a relationship to avoid inevitable bad luck if anything happened to you, considering he's at literal warfare with his father and grandfather. or because he just isn't interested. the latter would be the only one within these men who'd actually take a liking to you openly as he is the least hostile male member of the Mishima family. you'd notice the first at a dojo, practicing his skills or sitting alone somewhere in a quiet area. you're obviously the one to approach him first, which starts out as a failure because he really isn't interested in you....yet. or just isn't. aaand you're also disturbing his peace. but let's just say hypothetically, if you were lucky enough and you somehow caught his eyes, he'll be captivated. he'll hide it and try to suppress those feelings of course but it's inescapable and now you've just stained the insides of that man's brain forever. for lars, it's unsure where and how you meet up, though he's probably more interested in an anime girl cyborg (jk jk). but when you get his attention, you'd sent his heart a-throbbing.
when these men loves you, they'll love hard. you hold a deep place in their soul, more than anyone else. jin's stoicism makes it hard for him to express, but he really fucking loves you. he'll try to act affectionate, like small subtle compliments or just being slightly more lenient with you. he's also the type of guy to give one of those 'fatal' hugs like as if he just saved you from something or if he had to leave you to go somewhere. but other than that, he'll keep his loving minimal as he's a shy guy. lars would be the same but with a less fragile approach; he'd just be more willing to be around you until you get the gist. they'd protect you as much, beyond their own capabilities, to keep you safe from their havoc lives. jin is literally the same guy who went & sent the earth into absolute hell to wake up a 1000 year old demon to kill his father and paternal grandfather. if you think he wouldn't do something similar for your love, you're dead wrong. when he avenges, he avenges almighty, and he'll sacrifice his life for you. and with lars, he'll do the same, minus the demon part <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kazuya mishima: 'stone cold' lover - emotionally inept, stoic manly man; he's not the lovey-dovey type. he's a very busy man, his mind will be more occupied on world domination and ending his bloodline than 'petty romance'. but if you manage to win this man's heart, he'd be a sucker for you. he loves you, dearly,, severely, it's just... he's just not an emotional guy. sure, he's not completely devoid of intimacy and sensitivity, but his overall manly ego prevents him from embracing such things. you probably notice him as you were working at his company. neither of you would approach at first (you're afraid him and he's just probably insecure that'll make him look unprofessional). he'd dote you in secret, maybe say some subliminally caring things under the guise of 'chivalry' and his authoritative position as a ceo. he'll make sure security is always with you or himself. then when the relationship further, he'll let his guard down little by little, like he'll start holding the small of your back, or make sure you're pampered; buying you little gifts and all. and if he's feeling really good, he might even throw in flirts and compliments here and there. slap on the ass, even, with a mischievous smirk. but other than that, the most romantic things you'll ever hear from this man is his impending plans to kill his son. yippee.

lee chaolan: 'ceo/sugar daddy' lover - silver-haired demon. handsome, charming, luxurious, chic, rich ceo. founder of robotics conglomerate, Violet Systems, this man is the typical socialite nepo-baby, "born" into wealth. he carries and alludes an air of luxury, old money richness, preppy stoicism, vanity and eccentricity. he'd notice you if you were working for him in his company, probably as a biotech scientist or as his intern. he'd find you interesting and approach you. since this guy is already such a sweet talker, you'll quickly swoon over him and fall in love. lee as a lover would be every woman's dream come true. he's successful, a gentleman, educated, a professional fighter, owns a billion dollar industry, and is godly attractive. what more could anyone possibly want?
he's a very romantic guy, very. he'll always treat you right, any day, any time. take you out on expensive dates & holidays, buy you gifts, pamper you up with spa trips, give you money whenever you want, romance you like no other. you'll never want a another man again once you win him. he is the dream guy ™ .

Trouble of Mind
It's been a week. A week since Hero did something unacceptable. It wasn't exactly forbidden, more like a rule they imposed on themselves for ethical reasons. No matter how much they needed information reading Villain's mind was always out of the question.
They did it a week ago. Amidst the battle, for no particular reason. A thought had flickered behind Villain's gaze only to disappear in the dark pools. And Hero followed. Unconscious at first, an impulse that drew them in. That was the biggest mistake they had ever made. And it backfired.
Villain had no idea why they jerked away so quickly and accepted defeat just so they could escape. The contents of Villain's psyche traumatised them. The things that Hero saw inside their consciousness were disturbing, but what they found deep in Villain's unconscious mind sent reverberating waves through their body. Hero hasn't been able to sleep ever since - countless nightmares served as their only companions for seven long and lonely nights.
Hero sighs, brushing their hair back from their forehead. The sleepless nights were taking their toll on them. Dark bags had settled under their eyes, heavy with the knowledge of the secrets held in Villain's mind.
They hadn't attended to any of the challenges presented by their enemy in the week that ensued. It was not because of the lack of proper rest but rather rooted in their inability to face them after discovering things meant to be hidden. They hadn't left their house at all for the risk of running into someone they knew. Hence why the knock on their door didn't surprise them. They remained quiet for a long moment, waiting for the person to leave, and when the knocking seized, exhaled in relief and returned to their couch for another attempt of rest to turn into torment.
Except it did not. Hero lets out a content sighs, turning so that they are now lying on their back. They yawn, stretching to snap their muscles in place. It feels like a heavy burden has been lifted off of their shoulders. It's only when they try to open their eyes, that they realise something is off.
"What the f..." A hand on their chest prevents them from sitting up, then presses them back down. What the hell?
"Shh, it's just a compress," a familiar voice fills their ears, only increasing the panic. "Don't freak out."
"Villain?" Their throat goes dry. They reach for the cloth that's covering their eyes and forehead. Villain is seated by their bed with a glass of water ready.
"Drink this," Hero shakes their head, propping themselves up against the headboard. With a sigh, Villain takes a sip. "See? It's not poisoned. Just drink it, it'll help."
"What are you doing here?" And what am I doing here? They could bet they were on the couch a few minutes ago. How did Villain get into their apartment and move them without them waking up?
"Helping you deal with the consequences of your own actions," despite the sarcastic tone - Villain seems genuine in their concern. "You shouldn't have done that."
"Pardon?" They jolt, almost jumping in place. No one knew Hero had that ability. Villain couldn't possibly know. Right?
"You shouldn't have read my mind, babe." Hero's eyes widen in shock. Villain shrugs nonchalantly, taking the cloth from their hand. "My past is too much to handle even for myself."
"How did you..?" A million questions are circling in Hero's head, yet they cannot form a single full sentence.
"Gosh, for a mind reader, you are quite dense," Villain shakes their head, then presses a palm against Hero's burning forehead. Their fingers are gentle and cold, Hero almost leans into their touch. "Did you think I wouldn't feel you in my head?"
"I-I'm sorry," their heartbeat is accelerating, which doesn't help the fever, so they take a deep breath, attempting to steady themselves. "I really am. I didn't mean for it to happen."
"I know." Villain dips the compress into a bowl of ice water, then brushes Hero's hair back, wiping their forehead and temples. Hero lets out a content sigh, allowing their eyes to fall shut. "Why didn't you come to me?"
"What for?" They can feel the cloth against the bridge of their nose, then right behind their right ear.
"Help, obviously," Villain tilts their head for better access. "When was the last time you slept?"
"You know the answer to that," is all they can muster, their body relaxed under gentle touches. Villain nods, ignoring the fact that Hero's eyes are closed.
"Put a cold compress on your forehead and ice cubes on your pulse points - that helps." They stop their manipulations, and Hero has to stop themselves from huffing in complaint. Instead, they open their eyes to look at Villain. "I use essential oils and sleep in complete darkness when it gets bad."
"Do you have them often?" Hero's voice is barely above a whisper, but Villain hears.
They nod with a heavy sigh and focus their gaze on Hero's ear, which is crimson red. They wonder if it's a reaction to the cold or their touch. "That's what failed brainwashing does to you, babe."
Hero freezes for a second. When they finally speak, their voice is coarse. "I'm sorry."
Villain offers them a quiet smile before getting up. "Come find me if you still can't rest," they say over their shoulder and vanish before Hero has a chance to thank them.
Hero knows they've made a mistake. A mistake that makes it hard to breathe and almost impossible to sleep. One that led them into the dreams and nightmares of their nemesis. One that gave them a chance to repair the damage they've unearthed and - potentially - heal Villain's troubled mind.
They know they've made a mistake, so when the sun begins to set on the horizon, they knock on Villain's door.

Wanted to introduce you to a minor stolitz rewrite or I guess, interpretation? I came up with that has a blitzfizz angle if you squint, because I think you might like it.
Some time ago there was a deep and vulnerable moment which is rare from Brandon Rogers, when he was being interviewed by Anthony Padilla, he talked about being assaulted by a beating, and then getting up on stage for standup minutes after. But the audience never noticed. He said when performing for audiences it brings him a sense of fulfilment to know that during the few minutes or hours of that show he gets to forget about his pain, and the audience gets to have fun and enjoy the show and forget about theirs. Those moments of escapism were precious, and I wrote that for Blitzø, this was the extent of his affection for stolas. He’s basically an audience member, a loyal fan. This is why when stolas wants real devoted personal love, it ruins it for Blitzø because it feels like a fan who got a backstage pass once, and maybe even an autograph or handshake, but for some reason thinks this makes them real friends/lovers. And he keeps coming backstage without a pass, and doesn’t understand why security stops him, he even shows up to his house after the show ends. With no idea what he’s done wrong when cops turn up (this type of thing happens all the time to lonely people with mental illness, and is the type of moral complexity I think would suit stolas, someone who is dangerous but still sympathetic) And blitzo feels so much guilt and pity at this lonely, socially inept person, and not to mention feels the flattery of having a fan for once, he finds it hard to get really mean about it. But when stolas gets angry he feels genuine fear and does whatever he can to appease him. Which terrifyingly, is interpreted as reciprocation.
For “One Night Only” like his circus poster in his office suggests, they both got to escape and pretend-to be this powerful, seductive sexual being bringing amazement to a Prince who in turn, gets to pretend his true love has arrived to save him. But just like the circus episode, stolas got too obsessive with a parasocial attachment. He wanted to take Blitzø home, to keep him in his bedroom, to take out and play with whenever he needed. Forever. For Blitzø it was like encore after encore, a show that doesn’t end. And he just wants to go home to his partner, the other kid waiting for him at the circus to play horsies again, and the only other imp in the world who truly understands how it feels to be used as a toy (hell, he was turned into one!!)
And I think like the sex toys running out (if I can try to turn even that into a metaphor) he has exhausted all of his tricks and doesn’t have any more material for stolas. But the show must go on, he thinks, that is until stolas finally sees the cracks in him, and against his own wishes for this to be his soulmate, his attraction to Blitzø starts to die. Because it was artificial from the start. And he doesn’t like the real person as much as he thought. They’re just deeply incompatible. Which breaks both of their hearts, for very different reasons.
When stolas asks him why he ever gave him a night at all or showed kindness to him, someone who now has nobody, Blitzø says nothing and just calmly looks at the photo of stolas smiling holding Octavia, then looks back to stolas. As if silently telling him he knows he’s not a complete monster, that it’s not all over, he is capable of finding real connections with others, he has his daughter. His real ‘hero’ and light in the dark. And knowing how much this relationship has hurt and traumatised Octavia, its the nail in the coffin. There is hope for stolas, but not for this relationship.
In the end he gives him back the book, thanks him for their time together, and for loving him, even when stolas is protesting (kinda like Diane to Bojack) his final action to him is a bow, his last words to stolas before leaving his life forever are “You will be okay”
Goddamn, Anon...you owe me a box of kleenex for this one.
Thank you for this. It's gorgeous and perfect and I wish with all my heart that it were canon.

helluva boss rants #3: blitzø, hero amongst men.
so, as the entirety of the fandom has probably established, blitzø, the main character of helluva boss who has so much hatred for himself that he even tries to cross out the last letter of his name.
our deeply troubled and misunderstood protagonist. i love him so dearly. he is so important to so many for so many reasons.
this character is not only deeply traumatised, but covered in guilt and absolute spite for himself. he draws himself out of pictures of his loved ones, that’s how much.
as established, one main focus (if not, the main focus) of the entire show is his relationship with prince stolas of the ars goetia. someone so royally and upper class wants to be with him? no, something must be wrong. so rather than admitting to himself that he has fallen for stolas, and stolas has fallen for him, he much rather cover all of that love with frustration. he cannot bear someone like stolas loving him.
he never could. it is a difficulty he has within himself that he needs to open up for.
something blitz will never understand though is that, although seeming antagonistic at times (god forbid, he’s having realistic emotions and reactions!), he is the main hero of this story.
starting off with maybe his earliest - stolas. as a kid, being guilt tripped into stealing from a mighty prince of hell doesn’t really make you think huh, how did he save him?
it begins as soon as he shows stolas the world outside of books and a fun, kindred spirit stolas aspires to be, who lets him be a free bird (pun absolutely intended).
later on, we get to see the two reunited. and for the exact same reasons. blitz is there to steal an important artefact from stolas, but in the meantime, saves him from the horrid and toxic relationship he has with his deranged wife. he sets him free once again, and this time, to the fullest.
next up is moxxie. we get to see the start of their relationship when blitz asks for moxxie’s help to break out of jail. moxxie smiles at him after having cried about the betrayal of a loved one and his father.
blitz caused him to never look back - to never go back - and without him, he would’ve never gotten to meet millie, have the life he has now. he saved moxxie.
loona is super important to this too. blitz, who is already painted in self-hatred, decides officially to adopt loona, a seventeen year old hellhound as his daughter.
he sees herself immediately in her - lashing out at others although she doesn’t mean it - issues controlling emotions - upset about herself. and he protects her with all that he has and saves her from having become a lost cause.
to me, he is the hero of this story. i hope he eventually sees himself this way, too. :)

"Closer" for the prompt game! With any LU character you want :D
Fhfhahx thank you for the ask-
It's no secret that the Chain were an affectionate bunch. Whether it be a pat on the shoulder or a brief side hug after a tough battle, certain people- (cough- Wind- cough)- taking a liking to using the others as pillows, or even the way that they all huddled around the campfire telling tales from their adventures.
For some, this was enough; afterall, their adventures left no room for tenderness. No room to cry on a familiar shoulder after a rough day.
No... their adventures had been a nonstop barrage of pain, fighting, running around, and being just a puppet of the gods. It'd be surprising if the Link hadn't come out severely traumatised, especially considering the Goddess' liking for sending children out to fight her battles (Sky begs to differ, but most of them agree).
One adventure is more enough to send someone into a trauma induced depression. Just imagine the effect of six...
Oh, wait, you don't need to. That's reality for the poor Veteran Hero. On the surface, it's easy to brush him off as just a cold, prickly jerk. Quick to anger and slow to trust, the kind of guy who picks fights with anyone who looks at him wrong.
He has a face that keeps people at arms length, and an attitude that sends them running. Or so many people think.
The reality is that his years of being a puppet have left his body and soul to be torn apart, leaving behind a scared child in the body of a man who had to grow up too fast. There's only one person he trusts anymore, who's proven that he'll stay despite whatever tragedy he thinks will befall anyone he loves, and that's Ravio. The only person who looks beyond his glaring and holds him close despite the thorns.
But... Ravio isn't here on this journey. He's safely at home, where Legend wishes he could be. He has nothing against his new companions- hell, he'd take a fatal blow for any of them- but a few bad encounters in the beginning has taught them to stay away.
He'd be lying if he said it didn't hurt.
But... it's too late now. Oh, how he wishes it wasn't. How he wishes the only touches he got wasn't when the Captain ruffles his hair. How he wishes he could be closer to his companions- no, brothers. The closest he's ever gotten was when he'd fallen asleep on Hyrule's shoulder, but that ended when he was woken with hurried apologies.
But Legend would sooner die than admit to his desire for love. For a warm hug. For the ability to snuggle up to Sky.
For the courage to be closer.
I'm not sure if this is what you wanted, but uh yeah- have a traumatised and touch starved Legend !!

MAKE ME CRY MY EYES OUT CATANA
“You stay right behind us, kid,” the villain had said, smirking at their sidekick with full confidence. The end of the world wasn’t supposed to be a personal issue that depended on the villain’s relationships. But apparently it did.
The protection of their sidekick was their priority. For someone so young, they were witty and funny. They were clever and annoying. The villain loved them like their own sibling. Someone who was just as fucked up as them, just as traumatised and hurt. And somewhere there, they could heal each other with jokes and the dream of another future.
It wasn’t like the kid had changed them but…somehow, they had made them a better person.
They’d been so sure. So incredibly sure they were invincible with the hero beside them. Finally fighting together, having each other’s backs — the villain’s and hero’s powers being perfected to a point that let them fight in sync with grace and a simplicity that made them feel oh so secure. It was heaven.
The hero was a reliable ally, a strong one that made the villain wonder how on earth they were enemies. When they fought like this, the villain felt somewhat complete. In combat, they were made for each other and the villain had enjoyed every second of it.
Both protected the villain’s sidekick whenever the situation got out of hand and both shielded each other when it started to look rough.
They’d never felt anything like this before. A connection that made them think they were soulmates. They felt so…strong. Letting them hope they could actually beat this ancient threat.
No wonder the villain had been cocky once the supervillain was their last standing enemy. A snarky comment was all they’d managed as they’d looked around the destruction of the city, ready to kick some ass.
But as it turned out, the supervillain was obsessed with the villain and apparently, they were ready to sacrifice the world to prove it.
In a last sick attempt at controlling the villain, they’d laugh-screamed their demands into the night. They’d destroy themselves and with that, this planet if the villain didn’t kill one of them. Their sidekick or their hero.
Which led them to this. An impossible decision.
“What?” the villain asked. Their voice died somewhere along the word, breaking when they least expected it. A moment ago, everything had been fine. Everything had gone according to their plan.
The supervillain’s expression wasn’t mad. It was calm. Cold. Like a salesman talking about a deal.
“I need you to kill one of them.” The villain’s head whipped around, their gaze boring into their sidekick and then their beloved hero. Both terrified beyond measure, both not sure on what the villain would decide.
Hell, not even the villain knew if they were actually going to decide.
“You’re insane.”
“Your precious hero is your only chance to save this world. And your sidekick? Like a sibling to you. So, what are you choosing? The world that always resented you? Or the family you found?”
“I will kill you,” the villain said, promised it but there was little weight to it. The supervillain could kill all of them easily. But they toyed with the villain, made them decide something like this just to see them suffer.
“Destroys the whole planet,” the supervillain said. “I’ll turn myself in after one of them is dead. Choose.”
“No.”
“I have killed thousands here, millions on other planets. I can kill these two for you, if you want to.”
“No.” The villain looked back at the hero and they realised how much they were panting, how much they were sweating.
“It’s okay,” the hero said. Fucking liar. “You can kill me, it’s alright.”
They took a step forward and the villain took one back, afraid that if they touched them, the hero would wilt. This wasn’t happening. This wasn’t happening.
“I know you can find a way to beat them. You don’t need me for this,” the hero said. “It’s alright.”
“No,” the villain repeated for what seemed to be the hundredth time. Their heart was beating in their throat as panic got a grip on them and squeezed until all their adrenaline was gone.
“Choose,” the supervillain urged them. “You have one minute.”
The villain’s eyes widened and they wanted to sob. No, this couldn’t be real. This was a dream, some nightmare they couldn’t get under control.
The tears came without a command. With a blurred vision, they stared at their sidekick, a 17-year-old.
“I can’t,” the villain said, nearly wheezed the words. “I can’t do this.”
“Come on, show me what you are,” the supervillain said. They leaned back on the throne they had built out of ash and destroyed concrete. “30 seconds.”
“I don’t have a family,” the sidekick said suddenly. “You’ve been the only one in my life that has been kind to me. But so many others do have one. You have to save these people.”
It hurt. It fucking hurt to hear this. To look into the kid’s eyes and see the pain and the fear and yet, they decided to be brave and do a heroic thing.
“Please,” the villain said. They looked back at the supervillain. “Please, I am begging you. Don’t make me do this. I can’t do this. This is…this is madness.”
“Ten seconds.”
Suddenly, the sidekick grabbed their wrist and pulled them towards them.
“Do it. I want it.” The villain shook their head frantically.
“Please—” Everything was blurry.
“For once in your life, be a goddamn hero. I’ll stay with you until it’s over,” the sidekick promised but there were tears in their eyes. A yearning for a long and good life, for a family and a future that was worth something. The villain squeezed their eyes shut but the sidekick wasn’t planning on giving up that easily.
They looked at the shocked hero who was definitely going to sacrifice themselves at any given moment. However, the sidekick was faster.
“Take care of them, will you?” they asked the hero.
And with that, they gave the villain their own dagger, hands closed around the villain’s as the metal broke clothes and skin, opened flesh and gnawed on bone in a cruel, horrible way that woke up the villain from nightmares decades later.

Why Kataang is shit - a submission-based essay
Kataang - a canon het ship from the Avatar: the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra fandoms between Katara and Aang
Do you fancy your babysitter? Does she not like you back? Don't worry, if you kiss her without her consent enough times, eventually she'll come around! Throughout the show, Katara is cooks, cleans, does general chores on behalf of the group, including Aang. She is also primarily responsible for talking him down from fits of wrath (understandable fits of wrath: he's a traumatised 12 year old with godlike powers) and putting herself in harms way in order to calm him. He's also incredibly dismissive of her culture at times, and disregards her feelings when they don't align with his view of the world. SPEAKING OF WHICH he completely ignores her when she explicitely says that she does not want to talk about his feelings for her, and then kisses her without her consent (again). He not only never apologieses for this, but it is never brought up again! She just wanders over him after the battle is finished and kisses him and THAT'S THAT I GUESS?!?!?!!! THEN we get into post-canon stuff. The main cast are really out there doing the most: founding cities, ruling nations, etc... with the exception of Katara. What is Katara in the future? The Katara who was the first woman to be trained in combat-bending by the Masters of the North simply because she Would Not Shut Up until they trained her? The Katara who said she would never turn her back on people who need her? That Katara? She's a wife and mother now and that keeps her very busy. To be honest I haven't read most of the comics because they're famously awful and even Kataang fans don't like a lot of them. it's offensive when a female character exists only as a trophy for the main guy to win, but it's doubly insulting when that female character has so many layers and so much complexity, only to turn into the shiny trophy with no autonomy when she kisses the hero like some kind of awful reverse Princess and the Frog. FURTHERMORE if you look at Katara's utlisation (or lack thereof) in The Legend of Korra, she doesn't do anything!! Of the Gaang members who are still alive, she's the only one who never gets involved in the adventures, which considering that the plot of Season 1 hinges around a water-bender specific power that she has a personal connection to (and even the in the FLASHBACKS to 40 years previously she does not appear). It's very funny to me because a lot of Kataang fans will say "oh Katara did keep working as an adult, she got bloodbending banned!!" and this is brought out as that one thing she did, yet IN A WHOLE SEASON ABOUT BLOODBENDING she does absolutely nothing besides being unable to heal Korra, so that Aang's spirit has to turn up and do it for her. Then Season 2 is about the Water Tribes and involves the hostile takeover of the city in which she lives, but apparently she's not keen on getting involved in that either!! And look, I can't PROVE that this is directly linked to the ship, but it sure looks suspicious to me when taken with previous evidence. And don't even get me started on the fans holy hell. Like, it's perfectly fine to have ships with problematic elements (don't we all) but they truly will bend over BACKWARDS to say that there's nothing wrong with the ship OR the way it went down in canon and that they're the Pure and Wholesome ship, standing in opposition to the Evil Colonizing Zutaras. Even suggesting that hey, might it have been better if they'd taken some time apart to really grow as individuals and then gotten together in their twenties---instead of at 12 and 14 without ever fixing the mother/child dynamic or talking about the time he sexually assaulted her---will be met with outright hosility by certain members of the fandom.

I’m on a “recently turned bachelor Fizz fosters recently turned heiress without fit parents, Octavia”
hit right now I just feel like their opposite personalities are too too funny—she needs a new updated Gay Dad 2.0 built without emotional torment, self pity, constant lying and bullshit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had the idea that somehow some way Stolas had become petrified to stone, as did Stella and Andrealphus. The de-petrification process takes roughly 100 years but Via thinks with enough practice she can reverse its effects. For now he is kept safe in the family garden amongst the plants he adores. Oz has kept Stella and Andre in storage in the freezer room. Asmodeus as leader to the Goetia has given permission for Octavia to be relieved of her duties until her studies are fully complete, while his scorned ex Fizzarolli (according to public image they are married and their ‘fizzarozzie’ ship is extremely profitable and marketable) is trying to see how the other half lives and to find himself and the truth about what happened after the fire, before he can decide whether to accept Ozzies offer of becoming the immortal queen of lust. (He won’t, but he’s keeping the ring. It’s 20 carat gold and the crystal is too handy for quick and on the go outfit changes)
Harvest Moon Festival where Fizz presents to the audience while Via hides behind him and tries to use the magic and every time it fails he has to find a way to stall with jokes
Fizz letting Via hold Precious when she feels anxious, eventually letting her keep Precious. Just. Fizz using his gentle nature and his grounding techniques to help someone else with anxiety is important to me. He also subtly recognises she’s autistic and gifts her noise cancelling headphones which she rudely uses to ignore him when he has very important things to say about vitamins and the value of getting in the sunlight
They both have plans to overthrow the Goetia monarchy and Mammons empire but Fizz keeps breaking into song can he stay on topic for five seconds.
Most people think he protects her from danger and in some ways he does but she’s usually protecting him from danger like muggers, falling anvils, or the fucking microwave oven
He asks if she’d like him to braid her hair and she says “my hair is feathers.” “Ah.”
She clung to him because he’s the only face left that she associates with being happy, with having the dad she used to know back, and her mom. He can’t say no to someone so small and so in need of help but is also scared he’ll end up like a mammon to her, so insists she knows he’s not her hero she can be her own hero.
Tumblr media
Octavia, hugging him: Can I…stay with you? My parents are (sobs) I…don’t have anyone I can trust…no grown ups will be honest with me, you were the only person who made me feel happy and at home all my life.
Fizz, shaking like a cat, existential crisis, hands in air not wanting to make physical contact: I er uh um there there small child woman um?? Parenthood uh??? (He looks at Blitz for help) Listen sweetie you can’t just expect me to-
Via, tensing up and terrified when Blitz comes closer: NO!! Go away!! Keep that guy far away from me! He ruined my life!
Fizz now cradles her close to him and glares at B: OH so it looks like you’ve traumatised yet another child? What did you do now. Disgrace!! Don’t ever talk to me or my daughter ever again…uh what did you say your name was kid?
Octavia, happily smiling now she knows Fizz hates him too: Via
Fizz: My daughter Olivia!!
Octavia: Uh it’s Oct—never mind
Blitzo: YOUR WHAT? Fizz! You can’t just adopt this kid off the street like some kind of hero, she’s a royal demon, she’s practically an adult! she’s 17
Loona:
Blitz:
Blitz: That’s different.
Fizz, helping her leave: Cmon kid, I’ll rent an apartment for you. Hell even the entire building. And I’ll stay right down the hall. Not too close not too far. We can even stay in the pride ring if you want.

Let's Talk Whump
Let's Talk Whump is a series of interviews with the wonderful members of the whump community. I'm Malice and I'll be your host. Joining us today is the one and only @oddsconvert !
Welcome to Let’s Talk Whump! Do you mind sharing a little about yourself?
Hi there, I’m Shannon! I’m a 21 year old psychology and criminology graduate from the UK! My favourite colour is yellow. I basically have a zoo of pets bahaha; I have four cats, a dog, a rabbit, two rats, three fish and two tarantulas (not mine - they terrify the life out of me!)
When I’m not whumping and traumatising my fictional babies, I love to crochet, listening to/playing music (I play piano, guitar, clarinet and ukulele), and I’m currently teaching myself to draw…for whump purposes ;)
What does whump mean to you?
For me, whump is freedom and release. Not only is it enjoyable, almost like scratching an itch? But it’s cathartic, and what I now see as a healthy coping mechanism for managing difficult feelings and a way to navigate my own trauma. Although, looking back, whump has been something that’s always been an interest of mine since early childhood, and has stuck ever since! Like rewinding disney films when the princes get tied up ahahah.
And also the comfort element of whump, I think it also helps me explore wants and desires in my own life. Writing my caretakers and their fierce protectiveness, and unconditional care over whumpees feels like it heals a part of me that maybe needed that at times. It gives you such a heartwarming feeling when you see these characters go through hell and back, and have someone to fall on at the end who will be there through thick and thin, regardless how choppy the water gets.
And how did you find the whump community? What made you want to join?
I used to scour pinterest for writing prompts! I only ever wrote in private, I’ve never EVER shared my work publicly before and never dreamed I would. But the more and more whumpy pins I was saving I was like “hmmm. These all come from the same site! Let’s go check that out” and then I scrolled the  #whump tag for endless hours instead of doing my university dissertation. I remember coming across @deluxewhump and @darkthingshappen first!
At first I joined as a faceless, lurking blog. I really wanted to hop in and join all the creators I was loving so far but I was terrified. I think I had a bio as something like “working up the courage to post.” And then some lovely anon sent me my first ask saying they’d love to see what I’d post! And I slowly crept out of my shell and bit by bit started building my profile and adding my name and posting my whump drabbles!
Pinterest whump prompts gang rise up! That’s exactly how I found the community too! Has your view on whump changed since you joined?
I used to be ashamed of liking whump. Like it was some dirty little secret that made me a terrible person and I should keep it to myself. Hide it at all costs. Since joining, and interacting with this world-wide community of whump enjoyers, I realised it’s not something that should be taboo. If anything, it almost feels normal! Look how many thousands love it! And every single whump creator I’ve had the pleasure of meeting has been so kind, supportive and such genuine people!
It really feels like coming home when you find the whump community and realise you’re not a weirdo! Would you like to share your favourite whump tropes?
I’ve definitely discovered more about my whump taste! I used to just purely like captivity whump, usually with creepy/intimate whumpers. That was always my go to. Now? I’ve discovered SO many tropes I never even knew about and love! BBU?! Pet whump, whumper turned whumpee, bad caretaker, vampire whump, sickfics, hero/villain and so much more!
Non-optional, you have to share a favourite piece you've written? Hype yourself up, we want to hear it!
Without a doubt, my first ever chapter of ‘Shattered’ - my bloodbag whumpee/vampire whump series. I’m usually very self-critical of my writing, but I really love how this one came out and how well it was written. I pretty much never get whumperflies off my own writing, but my poor sweet Declan - just living dead and the way Vince is forced to take care of him.
But also honorary mention - my latest chapter of ‘Play Pretend’ . Play Pretend is my baby, and it was the first chapter of this series I had beta’d by my wonderful friend @whumpcereal and I felt like she just took it to the next level and kicked it up a notch. Josh’s fear and exhaustion came to life and I really enjoyed writing his inner monologue!
You weren’t kidding about the whumperflies in “Shattered”! Hot damn! What's your writing schedule usually look like?
Night time for sure! Dead of night - 3am most often ahaha. I’m a night owl, through and through. I’ll try and write in the day and nothing comes and then night comes and I’m like brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, whole chapter done! I usually have some music on in the background, sometimes I make a specific playlist for whatever vibe I’m feeling! And I mostly write when the inspiration strikes, as much as I can get out until the motivation vanishes.
And do you find that the words flow better for somethings than others?
For me, I find it really easy to write my creepy/intimate whumper scenes. For Play Pretend, writing Felix’s deranged and creepy obsession with Josh just comes so naturally (maybe I should be concerned…). The way he’s so unsettling but so adoring with how he speaks to Josh and touches him, I could write it in a heartbeat.
More recently I’ve been trying to delve into the nsfw portions of whump and writing. But I’m a newbie with it, and I really struggle with writing it or making it sound good.
Is there anything you're working on at the moment?
My usual schedule swings around, I update my series in an order. It tends to be, A Taste of Your Own Medicine, Shattered, then Play Pretend - and I’ve just updated ATOYOM so Shattered is up next! I’m primarily working on a flashback chapter with August currently! But I dot in and out of future chapters too.
I also have planned future whump series to come whenever my current ones finish up! But that’s a little while off yet.
Give us some writing advice. Bless us with your wisdom, oh awesome one!!!!!
I WILL SCREAM THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS - WRITE FOR YOU!
Never ever write based on what you think people like/don’t like.  The absolute joy in writing is the freedom in putting the pen to paper, or cursor to doc , and just letting your imagination run wild. Your audience is out there. People that will love and cheer for your writing, and I think you can really tell when an author has enjoyed and had fun with what they’ve written. There’s no good in getting bogged down with what others think.
Write for you, post for you, and if others hop along for the ride - all the better!
Is there anyone you’d like to give a shout-out to?
I love absolutely everyone in this community, I’m gonna tag so many people - my besties alongside some of my favourite blogs and creators. Ily all you talented people.
@whumpcereal @darkthingshappen @sparrowsage @quietly-by-myself @whumpsday @for-the-love-of-angst @emmettnet @turn-the-tables-on-them @yetanotheraltwhumpblog @kira-the-whump-enthusiast @pigeonwhumps @whumpshaped @t0rture-me @ha-ha-one @not-a-space-alien @whump-queen @justsomewhumpee @livelaughwhump @writereleaserepeat and I’M PROBABLY MISSING SOME BUT YOU’RE ALL AWESOME
Finally, anything you'd like to add?
The whump community has quickly started to feel like home to me, I have a lotta love for whumpblr and every soul I’ve met here! Thank you so much for having me and to whoever nominated me!
It’s been a pleasure!
Happy whumping, people!
Thank you so much for joining us today, @oddsconvert! And to all you awesome folk at home, have a whump-derful day!

I have, SO many feelings about how Five loves his siblings because they were heroes in the end.
Like: the Hargreeves children were forced to be child soldiers. They were abused and tortured and traumatised and manipulated and bullied and exploited. They went through more than any child should ever have to go through. They were forced to kill or be killed, again and again and again. They were physically and psychologically scarred by their childhoods in ways that no one else will ever understand.
And the world watched. This was all done very publicly. No one stepped in. No one called child services. No one reacted to the twelve year olds on tv in their peaceful country with broken bones and stab wounds. The nation and the world decided mutilating these seven children was a sacrifice worth making and the Hargreeves kids had to live with that.
They had to grow up, terrified and hurting, knowing that no adults were coming for them. That no one was ever going to care. Abuse is bad enough, but being abused very publicly? And having empirical evidence that no one would have tried to help you? That’s a whole different genre of trauma. And it’s honestly a miracle none of them turned villain sooner. What the hell do they owe the world? Stitches before puberty.
The Hargreeves siblings were kids who never wanted to be soldiers, never wanted to hurt anyone, because they were children and children want friends and toys and candy and crushes and fun days out in the park. They turned into adults who were so deeply fractured by their childhoods that they struggled to maintain the deep, profound love of their siblings that let them survive the literal war zone of growing up.
And they died trying to save the world anyway.
What do the Hargreeves owe the world? Nothing. Pain. Grief. Fury. Two dead brothers.
Number Five leaves a childhood where he and his siblings are enduring violence daily, where they’re being forced to kill people, where they’re scared and branded and breaking apart, and finds out that despite all that - despite everything - despite knowing their trauma has cut them so deeply they cannot hope to be as effective as they need to be…they still tried.
They knew saving the world was a suicide mission and they still tried. Because at the end of the day every Hargreeves sibling is full of so much love, and courage, and compassion, that they chose to die fighting for a world which wouldn’t save them.
Five knows that. He’s seen it. He knows that despite everything, his siblings will do the right thing again and again, even when it hurts them. Even when they shouldn’t. And he is the only person in all of time and space that doesn’t want to ask them to. Who wants to give them a choice. Who wishes he could give them a choice.
Because they were children. Because they’ve done enough. Because soldiers get to retire, eventually, if they survive the war. Because the world owes them. Because they should get to lay down arms, for a change. Because they’re all so tired.
Because they deserve the chance to be normal people, just like everyone else. And one day, Five is going to give them that, or break the universe trying.

Growth, and Trauma in Fairytail
I love fairytail with all of my heart unfortunately it’s my special interest so I’ve overanalysed the hell out of this series and one thing I have noticed with mashima’s writing is the way characters process their trauma. (This post will contain anime spoilers) ALSO TRIGGER WARNING FOR S AND VIOLENCE
Aka, non-existent. For the most part at least. However there are some exceptions to this like with Gray. With characters like Gray, it’s very clear to see why and how he copes with traumatic events take what happened to Ur as example. Gray believes Ur’s death was his own fault (my guess is probably because he was the one who brought up the deliora situation to her causing her to come to rescue him but as a result having to nope out if life), as a result he believes he doesn’t deserve to live as it ‘should’ve been him’. His actions show this as early as Galuna island arc with our boy using iced shell against Lyon. And multiple other times, he always tries to dish out that spell as a sacrifice because he believes his life is worth nothing more.
This is proof that mashima can and does write trauma well sometimes however his writing can also pale in comparison like with the death of igneel. Specially in the Alvarez arc. Natsu was absolutely traumatised by what had happened and we can see this with him running off for a year with happy. He needed his alone time and yet once he returns its as if nothing had happened, he’s his same old smiley silly self. If you told me to look for the differences in natsu’s character between the first episode and the final season, I would have a very very hard time. There was no growth to his character apart from getting ‘stronger’, we don’t get to see how he comes to terms with the fact his one life goal is void or how he deals with the aftermath of tartaros. Afterwards he is back to his smiley goofy self again like nothing ever happened. There’s no signs at all of Natsu even being affected by it apart from getting stronger. His one life goal is now six feet under ground and he has no visible signs of being depressed over that. He’s capable of smiling, being happy, and his usual self. Even during alvarez arc he’s just as fearless and unchanged as ever. During the alvarez arc Natsu had come face to face with this killer once again and instead of showing any signs of fear at all he looks acnologia in the eyes and takes him head on as if he were a weaker oponent or something.
Realistically acnologia should have terrified natsu. Just like how natsu had been afraid of gildarts seeing his raw power, and acnologia is ten times stronger than gildarrs. Especially considering that dragon had KILLED natsu’s dad. Ripping him in half right in front of him, someone Natsu probably viewed as the strongest and indestructible torn apart just like paper. I understand everyone processes trauma differently but we’ve SEEN first hand Natsu showing fear to stronger opponents like Gildarts. So why is it that all of a sudden when Natsu is faced with acnologia in person once more there is no signs of fear, no memories of the trauma, no nothing rather this cookie cutter hero moment again. Where he takes aconologia on as if he were a weaker foe, even laughing to himself and making witty remarks. We’ve seen at the face of truly terrifying power Natsu shrivels up into a stuttering sweating mess. So it doesn’t make any sense that he feels nothing seeing acnologia again. Saying he did the healing during the one year time skip through tartaros doesn’t even make sense because he challenged gildarts to a fight during the manga and you can see him shrivel up in fear unable to speak once more as soon as gildarts destroys a mountain to save him.
Natsu can feel fear. Yet why not with acnologia? Someone who should have traumatised him.
This happens so many times throughout the series. Trauma being swept under the rug like its just another tuesday. I dont get why he can write trauma fine with Gray, but when it comes to people like Lucy or Natsu suddenly its void.
I just wish the characters in this series were given more growth but time and time again it feels like im watching the same characters from episode one over and over again.
But anyway that’s just my two cents on fairytails writing of trauma. This is my first real post on tumblr so it’s probably dogwater, but yeah im open to hearing other peoples thoughts on this and thank you for reading this low effort post.

I want to write an in-depth analysis of Ji Dong-hui's murderous obsession towards Choi Chiyeol but my dumb brain can't figure out what to say.
So let's look at the timeline of Dong-hui's descent to madness. My ramblings are all over the place but I do want to talk to someone who may have a more cohesive understanding of how to explain Ji Donghui's character.
-early childhood to middle school: grew up with no dad maybe. Grew up with an emotional and physically abusive mom who took it out on both him and his sister.
-Middle school/high school: Even when the household was dysfunctional, sister grew up to be a positive person who loved to study (which is probably pushed mainly by her desire to get out of that abusive household). When mom says, her kids are her only hope, they might be poor and she wants her kids to save her from poverty. (which is never a good motivation to get kids studying). Mom does the unthinkable and pushes sister to the brink when she gave her daughter the answer sheet to "ensure" her future. Sister crumbs under the guilt and kills herself leaving the brother on his own to deal with crazy mom. He starts practicing his metal ball slingshot around this time.
-Highschool: Living with mom is hell. He is also pushed to the brink but instead of killing himself, he kills his mom. Due to being a minor (and this is also when he first starts to learn how to become manipulative), he was let go. He probably started killing animals with his metal sling shot around this time but he can never get back the feeling of revenge from killing his mom.
-Young adulthood: Ji Dong Hui is born from feelings of revenge and loneliness. Revenge probably started from the educational system and he found a "hero" he can wants to be a "support" for. Choi Chiyeol, the only adult that his sister trusted. He will serve this "hero" because this hero is the only person who showed him and his sister kindness. Also, he's just as lonely as he is.
-"Serving" Choi Chiyeol: He knows Chiyeol inside and out because he's made Chiyeol into who he is. But the Chiyeol that he knows who he thinks is "professional" is an empty shell because everything the Choi Chiyeol, the star teacher, is not really the Choi Chiyeol but Ji Donghui's projection. And he protects this projection fiercely by literally killing anyone who even comes near it (remember the girl who causes the "first scandal" that we become aware of who we never heard of again).
-Nam Haengseon comes barging in to Choi Chiyeol's life: From the get-go, Mr. Ji has done his best to keep Chiyeol to himself and to getting him away from the Nam family. From attacking them early on, to convincing Chiyeol repeatedly to get food somewhere else, from giving his disapproval to Chiyeol tutoring Haeyi, to controlling the situation by printing the materials for Haeyi, to blowing up on him when Chiyeol was angry over Mr. Popular exposing Haengseon
-Nam Haengseon and Chiyeol dating era: Nope nope nope for Ji Donghui and he starts to crack. He tries to threaten and manipulate Haengseon by showing two faces, making her believe that being with Chiyeol is going to end in heartbreak. He starts cracking even more and resolves that there is no other way of getting Chiyeol back to being his "hero" but to take out the blockage that is Nam Haengseon.
And now we're on Ep 14. I hate this character so much but I love Shin Jaeha is an incredible actor by portraying the duality really well. I didn't suspect him until I saw the theories when I jumped on tumblr late into ep 9.
The unhealthy co-dependency, worshipping a human who is just as lonely and traumatised as him, the projection of a "hero" is all so so so creepy. I can't shake the creepiness. And I can't stand his character. I don't think I even want him to stay alive in this show. I understand that what he went through is really past what can even be called trauma, if you think about it. But any person who resort to murder (or even just doing something evil like the evil moms of this show) and justify that as something they did for the good of another, is something I can't get my head around.
I think, if there is any redemption, it would come from his "hero", Choi Chiyeol, which is actually true to form. He is kind, even though he is lonely and depressed inside. I also think that Nam Haengseon would be a key factor in his redemption because actually, they are both kind who knows how to take care of the people around them.
I'm just hoping no one else dies.

“Our Daughter Is NOT Okay!”
Tumblr media
This is based on the Attack on Titan 2 Game, so this does contain spoilers. It takes place after the ending of the Main Story, but the MC does survive in this story. I also see Levi and Hanji as parental figures in the game… and I also ship them! Don’t judge me!!!
Kayleigh couldn’t sleep… not after that day.
The day she saved her friends from the horde of Titans that were after them. The day she was forced to focus on the mission instead of killing Reiner. The day she almost died….
“Ahhh!!!”
She sat up in her bed, covered in sweat and also breathing heavily. She had bags under her eyes and was paler than normal. Tears ran down her cheeks as she got up and walked out of the barracks to find someone that could comfort her. After that day, that horrific day in Shinganshina, she had been missing paternal affection the most. Until now, all she wanted was revenge but now… she just wanted her Mother’s warm embrace more than anything.
“I’m telling you Levi! She’s like our daughter!!!”
“No, she’s not! You just want to think she is.”
Kayleigh heard Hanji and Levi arguing again, about something that made her very curious. And so, she decided to tail them into the main building.
“Listen to reason, Levi! Please!”, Hanji demanded as she slammed her hands on his office desk. Levi then gave up and mumbled, “You have one minute before I kick you out of my office”. She nodded and then said, “Well, she’s amazing at killing Titans, is a clean freak, great at capturing Titans, amazing at analysing them and… she even looks a lot like you and me! She has a piercing glare when she’s mad, sparkles in her eyes when she’s happy! She’s also got blue eyes, brown hair and—?!” “Times up, Hanji!”, he told her. “Oh c’mon! You know I’m right!”
“I also know that someone is listening in…!!!”
Hanji looked behind her and Kayleigh sighed before coming out of the shadows. Their eyes widened in shock. It had been a week since the incident at Wall Sina and she was seen as a hero by the rest of the Cadets for leading the Titans away as much as she possibly could. But the dark under her eyes, the tear stains on her unusually pale cheeks, that wasn’t normal. Not to them. Usually, she was happy to see them both and was also wearing a bright smile on her face. Now though, she looked like Hell on Earth.
“Kayleigh…? Is everything alright…?”
Then she burst into tears and collapsed onto the floor, before saying, “I-I can’t do this…! Not anymore! All I can think about is how I could’ve died! I may be good at killing Titans… but that doesn’t get rid of the fear you have when one of them is baring down on you just as you’re trying to run!!!” Hanji frowned and looked down sadly. “I-If it wasn’t… for my will to live, I would’ve died…!!! A-And I can’t die… not yet! I want Reiner’s head on a Goddamn pike!!!”, she shouted as more tears ran down her face. If anyone else, from any other Regiment had seen this, they would’ve thought she was having a temper tantrum. But they knew better than that. She was already traumatised and that fight… just made it a hell of a lot worse.
Levi stood up and walked up to her before kneeling down, holding a handkerchief. “Look at me”. She did so and he gently wiped away her tears before saying, “You do know that the others are calling you a hero for what you did, right? You sacrificed yourself just to keep your friends safe… and that strong will of yours helped you survive”. “I know, but I don’t want to be called a Goddamn ‘hero’. I’m nothing compared to the rest”, she told him, putting herself down. “No… you’re not. You’re different and that’s what makes you better than all of them”. Then she looked at him again before asking, “W-What do you mean, sir…?”
“Do you remember that day in Trost, when you told me that you were going to help me? It was clear that you knew who I was… but you basically told me that it was your duty to support me in taking out the rest of the Titans. That’s something I had never seen in a Cadet in a very long time”.
“Yeah! And do you remember the day we captured Sawney and Bean?! Bean was about to eat me and you scolded me for being so careless! You do have something that no one else does, Kayleigh! Out, on the field… you care about your comrades lives, a lot more than your own sometimes”.
Kayleigh just sighed and looked down before saying, “That’s a bad thing, isn’t it? I mean, I was talking to my superiors with so much disrespect!” Hanji then laughed and rested her arm on Levi’s back. “You should’ve met Levi back in the day! Wow!!! I hadn’t seen such a disobedient Cadet in all my life!!!”, she laughed. Then helped the blonde up before hugging her, which surprised her. “The point is… you’re a very special girl. A skilled Scout that cares for her friends so much that she’s willing to put her life on the line for them. That’s not a bad thing. But you also need to care about your own life too and think about the effect it would have on the people around you, if you did die out there. Levi would be drinking tea alone and I would probably still be screaming at Erwin!”
Her eyes widened in shock. “Y-You two… care that much about me?” “You idiot…!” He flicked her head and she winced in pain before holding her forehead. “Listen up! As far as I’m concerned, you’re not going to die… not while me and Hanji are around. That’s why we both decided to train you up. We could’ve easily refused, but Erwin’s rarely wrong about people and from the moment we met you… we all saw that something was different with you. We just couldn’t put our finger on it until now. I suppose… you’re a lot like me. You refuse to let anyone die, even at the cost of your own life. And like Hanji said, it’s not a good or a bad thing. It’s just who you are. Except it and don’t regret it. Because if you give into regret, you’ll start to overthink every choice you make. Understand…?”
“Y-Yes… sir”.
Levi then looked at his sofa and said, “You can sleep there for tonight. I don’t get much sleep myself…”.
Kayleigh nodded and then laid down, letting Hanji place a blanket over her. “Try to get some rest. We’ll see you in the morning”. She nodded and rested her head on the cushion before closing her eyes. Then Levi hummed and mumbled, “Maybe you were right after all, four-eyes. Especially since we’re the only two who can actually look after her”. Hanji smiled and said, “I’m surprised you didn’t scold her”. He sipped his tea and sighed before saying, “I couldn’t scold her, not after I saw her walk in. It’s been a week since she truly came face to face with death… and I doubt she’ll recover anytime soon”. “Hm… I agree”.
Then Hanji smiled and said, “There’s no way she can be comfortable on that old sofa of yours, Levi”. He frowned and his eyes widened, when he figured out her true motive. “No. Not happening! Not until you take a bath!”
Kayleigh just stood there, watching everything that had happened to her that day. She recalled the fear in her eyes and how much she cried afterwards. But then she saw the deaths are her comrades. Levi Squad, Nanaba and Gelgar. “No more… tch! I won’t let anyone else die because of you selfish bastards!!! I’ll kill all of you!!! No matter what!!!”, she screamed as she jumped into the scene and cut down every Titan with skill that had never been seen from a mere cadet. “Leave… my family… alone!!!”
In the morning, Kayleigh woke up with a smile on her face when she saw Hanji hugging Levi, who was sleeping peacefully. She got out of bed and walked out of Levi’s Office, before heading straight for the barracks. ‘No more. I’m not going to be afraid. I’m going go out into the field and do what I’m meant to do!’, she told herself before entering her dorm room and getting back into her uniform. She tied her pink scarf around her neck before putting on her green cloak and then walked back outside with her friends. ‘I’m not going to cry anymore. I’m going to give it my all, for all of the friends we’ve lost! Because that’s what my purpose is! To carry the torch on! I will make promise to you all… the Titan’s will be eradicated!!!’
“Hehe~… thanks Mama Hanji and Papa Levi~!!!”

BONUS
When Levi finally woke up, his eyes widened when he found himself in Hanji’s arms. “Shitty four-eyes…! Wake the hell up!!!”, he shouted as he hit her over the head. “Ouch!!!” The two sat up and she looked all over the place for Kayleigh. “Huh?! Where’s our little bundle of joy?!”, she asked before looking out of the window. Then she smiled as soon as she saw her in her uniform, without a trace of fear in her face. “Well, I have to say… we’re great parents! Right, Levi?!” His silence caused her to look at him and then her eyes widened in shock. “Are you flustered…?”, she asked, as she tried to stop laughing at the sight. “Tch! It’s your damn fault, four-eyes!!! Now, get ready for our private training session with our so-called daughter”.
Hanji giggled as she watched him leave.
“Hehe~! I love that shorty~”.

Pro-Hero Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya x quirkless female student reader!
.
.
.
It wasn't unknown for the top five pro hero's going school to school to inspire young and upcoming hero's of the generations, but what people weren't expecting was the number one pro hero of Japan 'Deku' going to the schools too until the paparazzi captured him outside of the cherry blossom middle school talking to groups of students at a time.. this warmed the citizens hearts and made younger hero's excited and hopeful for their symbol of hope to come and see them anytime!
Except.. No one knows the reason behind the number one hero truly being there..
because who.. would suspect the true 'symbol of peace' being so.. creepy.. right?..
Izuku walked from classroom to classroom his large form not being noticed by prying eyes he was used to being the centre of attention wherever he went and like he promised his successor before him.. he was the 'symbol of peace'.. the glue holding the citizens together.. holding Villains away! the true protector of Japan and would stay that way for years.
The number ones hero's eyes would capture a young girl sat at the back of a desk unlike the others not paying attention to him.. her face turned out the window her elbow on the desk she seemed half asleep.. but if he could squint hard enough he could see writing on her desk.. his eyes shifted down to the students crowded by his legs all excited and asking him questions until Tenya ushered them away giving Izuku enough time to slip to the back of the classroom..
Which.. brought the whole situation to now.. 'Deku' stood on the school rooftop his grin beaming down at the young girl with (Your hair colour) hair, her eyes never met his which almost irked him at first.. but she was just shy right?.. because who would be uncomfortable in the presence of the number one pro hero.. right?..
(Your name) could feel her heart in her ribs.. why the hell was this pro-hero so insistent on knowing her favourite things or what type of hero she was inspiring to be... it put her on edge so much.. it freaked her out.. ever since he stepped foot near her she could sense something off about him at first she tried to ignore it by looking out the window.. or even looking down.. hiding her face in her arms in the desk.. but he still didn't catch the hint! it was so damn frustrating..
Izuku's green eyes pierced down into the young student before him but as time passed and she kept giving him short answers or avoiding them.. his patience's wore thin.. too thin..  Izuku shifted and reached down to place a large hand on her smaller shoulder and he couldn't help notice how she basically flinched at his touch.. was.. someone hurting her?.. who had traumatised HIS this young girl?..
The second his hand touched her skin.. it just sent a cold jolt through her body and she stepped back and her fingers captured his wrist to stop him from touching her shoulder any further.. she noticed how his tall form seemed almost.. scary.. intimidating but she also took note of how his eyes seemed to darken when she captured his wrist to stop him from touching her shoulder..
"Are you going to be a hero?.. because.. i could take you in and train you personally!"
Those words sent warning flags straight to (your names) head she quickly swallowed.. how was she going to drop the bomb on the number one hero that she had no interest in being a hero of any sorts.. and even if she was.. she would not let herself be under the wing of the number one pro-hero in Japan.. for two reasons..
One.. it would seem like there was something more going on..
and two.. he didn't even know her.
"No. I don't want to be a hero.. It holds no interest for me.. but thank you for the offer 'Deku'.. really i appreciate it.."
Izuku's eyes sharpened.. she didn't want to be a hero?.. why not.. but he wouldn't push his luck and he just nodded shooting her a soft smile and his free hand moved to her hair gently petting it.. why was she tensing?.. did she not like his touch?.. it was safe and warm.. right? RIGHT!?..
"Ah.. I understand."
He didn't understand not in the slightest.. she had all the pro's in it.. she was a determined young girl from what he could see.. a strong head on her shoulders.. and she seemed willing to stand up for herself... he wondered why she didn't want to be a hero of Japan.. he'd just have to find out for himself..
"I.. have to go home now.. i'll see you around 'Deku'.. stay safe.."
She didn't have to go home.. but she couldn't stand the presence of the pro-hero any more.. she turned and headed to the school stairs her eyebrows creased and her teeth found themselves dug in her bottom lip her only focus on leaving the roof top..
"Goodbye (Your Name) we'll see one another again.. that's for sure."
His voice sent chills down her spine.. what the hell was that!?.. She let out a breath but rushed through the school halls the second she exited the stairwell.. out the school doors.. and rushing down the street her mind falling into a spiral of paranoid words..
Wait.. how the hell did he know her name?..
Days passed since that awkward encounter but (Your name) began to notice the number one pro-hero still hanging around her middle-school and it was beginning to freak her out how he was starting to basically scout her out in every crowd.. she even bumped into him in the streets near her house.. that honestly shook her to her core..
(Your name) was ducked between classmates that reluctantly helped her hide not knowing who she was hiding from but just wanting to the girl out of their spaces.. once (Your name) entered the halls.. she paused as she heard one of the two girls from her class conversing between themselves..
"Ah! i can't believe the number one is going to help us train today!!"
"I know right!! so exciting!"
No.. fucking.. way!
She didn't think twice before fully making a 360 and rushing out the school doors.. to hell with this damn middle school she hated it anyway! it felt like the world was moving in fast motion.. her heart raced in her chest her lungs were tight because no way was (Your name) stopping just to take in a breath.. and risk someone spotting her? No way!
The second her house was in view she basically fell into the front door face first as she swung it open once unlocking it.. her parents were out of town.. how.. unlucky.. (Your name) shrunk into the doorway and hastily shut it behind her locking it in a swift motion.. she headed up the stairs before collapsing on them to take in as much air she could once the adrenaline wore off..
Only.. she missed the large shadow behind her as she darted out of the school.. the large shadow that followed her fleeting form from above.
(Your Name) was just half-way through discarding her uniform on her bed after she had put on some joggers and a shirt when she heard the heavy knocks on her front door.. and her paranoid mindset set in once more.. Her eyes shifted to the window.. she couldn't see who it was they were perfectly hidden just beneath the window.. damn..
She crept down the stairs slow enough to not alert anyone outside the door.. she moved to the front door peeking out the small peek hole.. she froze the second she saw that green fluffy hair.. no way- was this a fucking nightmare!?... How the hell did he know where she lived!- how.. she didn't get time to think as the knocking got more frantic.. panicked.. firm.. loud..
"Pup! I know your in there.. i saw you leave the school."
The young girl didn't think twice before dating in the living room.. right behind the sofa.. curled up so much not even a shadow would see her.. she could hear her blood pumping in her ears.. each thump of her heart.. her nails dug into the fabric of her joggers everything seemed so nightmarish.. it felt like hours passed.. and when the knocking stopped.. she thought it was over..
she'd be wrong.
Her heart basically plummeted into her ass as she heard the knocking from the living room window.. right in front the sofa she hid behind.. now she would not be moving she didn't have to peek behind to know that the green eyes were glaring through the glass window why.. why was this happening!?..
"Puppy.. why didn't you tell me that you were quirk-less?.."
How did he.. fuck the questions.. now was not the time.. her eyes caught the metal bat just by the front door.. she could.. grab that.. for self-defence but.. did she want to move and risk him knowing she was in here.. she gritted her teeth..
"PUPPY!"
She basically jolted behind the sofa a yelp escaping her.. her fingers clamped over her lips tight to hide her small whimpers of terror.. her eyes were wide as they tried to focus on something other than the metal bat..
"You have till the count of three until i come in myself.. and puppy.. you don't want that.. right?... you don't want daddy to hurt you.. right?"
Daddy?- was he insane!?.. no.. obviously he was for stalking a 17 year old!! the damn psycho!-
"1."
Her eyes shifted to the metal bat once more.. it was worth a shot..
"2."
She shifted her curled body behind the sofa crawling slightly to the front door from the sofa..
"3!"
Her hand just barely made it out behind the sofa before a loud shattering of glass was heard.
.
.
.
.
Sobs filled the small room.. but they were hushed by a lower tone.. there on a bed sat the quirk-less girl shaking.. sobbing and pleading for mercy.. Izuku sat besides her.. bandaging her wounds..
"Puppy.. this wouldn't of happened if you just had listened."
His voice was stern.. like a father scolding his young daughter for falling over at a park after ignoring a warning.. His large arm wrapped around the girl who immediately tried to shrink away and cower into the bed but he was quick his hand captured her smaller waist tugging her firm against his chest
"Daddy doesn't like hurting his little girl.. she's already so vulnerable."
She let out a sob at his words.. he was crazy.. he believed he was supposed to be her protector- her father! she had one.. but he ignored her small cries of protests saying she was having a 'tantrum'
"But don't worry Puppy.. daddy's here.. and he will stay here.."
His fingers caressed her bruised shaking body over the jumper he had put her in.. his jumper he had gotten her a few days ago.. his face tilted down and down to her ear..
"My poor quirk-less little girl.."
It was like he was taunting her.. she let out a chocked sob but he hushed her and pressed a kiss to her forehead.. like he was trying to calm an infant
"Daddy's got you now.. and he always will."
.
.
.
SOOO DID YOU LIKE IT!! :) HEHE.. HE'S... A BIT.. DELULU.. POOR (YOUR NAME) DIDN'T DESERVE THATT.. BUT AT LEAST WE KNOW SHE'LL BE SAFE FOREVER.. RIGHT!? -YOUR MAMA..

So do you guys remember when netherrealm rebooted mortal kombat and they made a kinda weird competitive game with some pretty janky animation and they talked about how cool the story mode was but then it was sorta just recycled the story from the first three games with a couple of dumb twists? Most notably, THAT scene with no buildup? And how instead of the hero being the classic archetype it was his literal godly mentor and how stupid the way he defeated the main villain was? And also do you remember how they strived for realistic fatalities so they started the lovely custom of having the dev team look at car accidents?
Also remember how Mortal Kombat X had THE jankiest animations ever seen on a AAA game of its generation and a button used to turn your character with no gameplay effect? And how half the consequences of the first game were almost inmediately undone? And how there was a 20 year timeskip for no reason that introduced characters that no one liked because either they were already conceptually lame as hell (by that I specifically mean the four kombat kids) or the story mode made them unlikeable? With maybe the exception of the Mad Max ripoff duo because they do literally nothing. And how the story is about Johnny Fucking Cage and his selfie-obsessed zillenial daughter? And how much the game jacks off the US military industrial complex? And how many characters were cut for no apparent reason? And how the fatalities stopped being B-series-style gore and now it was just gross and no one was having fun anymore?
And remember how mortal kombat 11 was first of all A LIVE SERVICE GAME? Remember how you had to unlock Jax's fucking blue pants and red wristwratch and SPECIAL MOVES? Remember how the animations only slightly improved and you still have that dumbass useless turnaround button? And also remember how they took a bunch of potentially interesting storylines and retconned them all in-universe for THE most generic multiverse plot ever imaginable, in THE most abrupt and unsatisfying way possible? Remember how the plotlines that were hinted in MKX that weren't retconned or forgotten about had the impact of a dead fly on the empire state building (looking at you Jade)? Remember how even the multiverse time travel bullshit wasn't interesting in its own way, because they didn't even interact with the REAL original universe, and the interactions mostly didn't go any farther than "wow, I've got some wrinkles!" or whatever? Remember how there were like 3 gods that controlled causality and each was less interesting and had more nonsensical motives than the last? Remember how the DLC took an originally interesting character and commited character assassination in a way that made her boring and generic? Remember how the end of the DLC established that not only do consequences in the mortal kombat not matter but they will not ever matter again? Also remember how despite having a plot centered around multiverses and time travel they got rid of like all of the interesting characters from the OG other than like the two main ninjas? Also remember how the other legacy characters did nothing? Oh and remember how the fatalities STILL were traumatising the dev team?
So no I'm not hyped for Mortal Kombat 1
