Who wants to bet that the start of the Stolitz falling out is going to be written as Stolas handing over the crystal and being like “Blitzy, do you still want to be in a relationship with me even if I’m not holding the key to your job over your head?” And when Blitz doesn’t give an immediate yes and hesitates for 0.000001 milliseconds that Stolas jumps to “Fine! Be that way!” And this really pissy about it after throwing Blitz out of the mansion?
There may be some of that yea, who knows. It’s gonna be really disgusting and ugly. The duet is the worst piece of music I’ve ever heard

I just found out there's a trailer for the rest of season 2 and watched it.
The amount of blaming Blitz is getting is reaaaaalllllyyy rubbing me the wrong way. Blitz has his own issues sure but comparatively Stolas whooole shit throughout the relationship, fuck even when they were kids technically, is faaaarrr worse than Blitz not being able to express himself. Fuck they got MILLIE dragging him through the mud, in a voice clip that almost sounds like it would fit in a second truth bomb hallucination (eviscerating his character/flaws on a level it doesn't feel natural that SHE would know about and call him out on so blantantly for but like Blitz's subconscious critiquing him to hell and back)
Imo i feel like Blitz shouldn't HAVE to accept the shitty apologies Stolas gave him, he fucking USED him for sex and publically embarrassed him several times by making it seem like he was just a sex toy to Stolas infront of other people near constantly. But now they wanna make it so Blitz actually loves him too omggggggg 🙄🙄🙄 I'm honestly getting really sick of this Stolas is the victim shit they're doing.
Also eeeyyy holy shit the Dhorks and Cherubs are FINALLY back. Oh they've been waiting for IMP? They couldn't like, track them down when they were at that summer camp for a fucking WEEK while Moxxie has his pity party and people were posting all about Milldred/Millie? Couldn't swoop in and try something then?? At least stalk them in the background maybe if you wanna say there were too many humans? No? It feels like they just completely forgot about DHORKS and CHERUB and were like "oh shit i guess we should probably do something with that."
I will say the editing seemed pretty good and animation, but then ofc it would its practically a highlight reel for their best animation that's half the point. But it also feels like the trailer is gonna be the coolest part of this second half of the season.

so there's a couple of common canards among parents who have strained relationships with their kids & one of them is "if we had any good times/I did anything nice for you at all, you can't criticize me"
some of the fans defending Stolas from Octavia's anger towards him kinda remind me of that; it's this notion that because they had a good relationship when she was a kid it's somehow hypocritical of her to say anything now as though the way things were when she was 5 reflects the totality of the relationship
I suspect the HB fandom skews young so idk if they've ever had a parent or relative hit them with this but if that's the case, it's a depressing thought. Kids & teens aren't given any autonomy or control over the environment they're stuck in and it's perfectly normal to be miserable when your parents trade fighting nonstop for having a long drawn out divorce in which the mother is indifferent at best and cruel at worst and the father who promised he'd never leave is consistently prioritizing the person he had an affair with over you
like it absolutely would be healthy for Stolas to make some actual friends and rebuild his life (rather than pin all his happiness on Blitzo). but Via is still a teen, she still needs some support and love herself especially since Stolas is the one who insisted all these years that he and Stella ought to play house for her sake instead of separating when she was younger
That last paragraph especially. He forced via and Stella to play pretend and swallow feelings, and that was a selfish act. Stifling feelings is what causes resentment and outbursts, which all three of the family have. Especially Via. Seriously man, even now you haven’t sat down with Octavia and told her the truth about the arranged nature of the marriage? I kinda hate him for that

it's a sign of how tired I am of Stolas if I'm expecting Ghostfuckers to be the best episode of Season 2B (or the one I dislike the least) just because he probably isn't in it
and I've seen the storyboard leaks. that episode looks baaad even by HB season 2 standards

making myself sad but can you imagine how powerful it would be if Moxxie and Millie saw how confused and shook up the full moon deal left Blitzo and they like, actually listened to him and validated him?
like if he explained when he made the deal and how he was getting shot at and Stolas not only didn't care but pushed him into agreeing so Blitzo could get him off the phone, then went into an X rated rant while Blitzo was in danger
and Moxxie suddenly remembers how Stolas was still going when he went back to the house even though Blitzo obviously wasn't on the phone anymore. and how Blitzo always seemed to have to pysche himself up before visiting Stolas once a month
then he explains how Stolas gave him the crystal but whenever Blitzo got mad at how he'd been treated Stolas would either do nothing to change the behavior (after Ozzie's) or denied it and blamed Blitzo completely for not immediately jumping to love him (full moon, probably)
and Moxxie and Millie realize what they've been treating so lightly and as an advantage of their business has been something Blitzo has been compartmentalizing to deal with this entire time and been forced into to keep the lights on.
and for all Blitzo's flaws they both look at one another, take one of his hands and look him in the eye before saying "you didn't deserve how he treated you"
and Blitzo just crumples because all along Stolas has validated his worst fear - that all he's good for is sex - then turned around and demanded an intimacy and love from him that he desperately wants to feel with someone, but he's never felt anything but used and dirty with Stolas. but now finally someone is listening to him. he doesn't have to feel crazy and alone anymore
for a show that loves to strut itself around like it wants to talk 'about abuse' it sure avoids having any discussions about the effects of it - and who gets away with it most effectively - instead it's just 'look, character is sad and cries'
but you just know what we're gonna get is Millie "the prince is the boss' boyfriiienddddd!' and Moxxie 'calls Stolas Highness constantly and is happy to rescue him twice without ever being thanked' just shaming Blitzo and grouping Stolas in with the people Blitzo hurt before, as though they're remotely the same thing
probably accompanied with the most aggravating cut rate version of 'I won't say I'm in love' where M&M are the greek chorus going 'so what if he treated you like a sex toy? get over it!' ever
Gloriously cruel of you to fill our heads with such beautiful, tearjerking visions of what could have been, then smack us collectively with that fat serving of reality, Anon. 11/10.

if the story leaks are accurate that's the bit where Stolas gets mad at Blitzo and basically throws him out of his room
Right when he’s talking about how hard things are being under royal talons. How hurt he feels by all of the behaviour he’s been enduring. Any loving person would listen. Take the blows. But no. This bird does not give two fucks about anyone’s traumas but his own. What a sick thing to do. The shitty song is even worse

feels like the parallels between Blitzo and Angel Dust are mounting
both are hypersexual, implied to be a coping mechanism
both put up walls to hold people at a distance and act tough to deal with it
both are coerced sexually by a more powerful demon than them
both have a twin sister who, by virtue of her being a girl, gets barely any screentime compared to other male characters they know
but only Angel Dust gets the benefit of the narrative actually treating Val like the worm he is (even if the fandom loves to make excuses for him)
They’re so alike, you can tell stolas was changed but Blitzø wasn’t, he is still going through a standing up to abuser story but is vilified for it.
The only reason Angel gets allowed this mercy is solely because he has a different love interest for more profitable shipping purposes.

the trailer ending on Blitzo saying "but I don't want to be like this forever" right as Stolas turns and smiles, like
we knew Stol!tz was gonna happen eventually, but this framing like Stolas is the answer to all Blitzo's problems (rather than just someone who made them all a bunch worse that he actually is) is just so...yuck
what's so great about Stolas, show? that has actually been shown and not just told to us? why are we expected to root for these two? (and lbr, lifted from the much nicer instagram Stolas)
(whoop, I just noticed the trailer doesn't end on Blitzo talking but Stolas. Even in the trailer Stolas gets the last word!)
While stolas had just performed a song about how awful he is and is beaming after it. Blitzø really has severe Stockholm syndrome and it’s really hard to watch him be tortured. I knew seeing stars was bad but this is so much more cruel.
What are his crimes to stolas?
Theft under duress as a child, pity sex, theft again?
I really truly hope my anon is right that this is just stolas’ season, the favouritism is insane. I’m so sick of this fucking bird.

taking a count of the episodes, Stolas is likely to appear in 8/12 of them - literally two third of the entire season. meanwhile the other members of IMP have been thrown to the wayside to make room (and the show potentially intends to introduce yet more Goetias...)
I've got a theory about the themes of s1 and s2 and tbh I think it's fairly supported by the text. so the theory is basically this:
Season 1 is the Blitzo season. Season 2 is the Stolas season
but when you compare the two, it's...telling
Season 1 - basically a whistle stop tour of most of the people Blitzo has hurt in the past (Fizz, Verosika) and the ways in which he is on track to mess up his current relationships in his new life if he doesn't change (pushing boundaries with his employees by stalking M&M, needing to give Loona some space to grow up, being a liability to his own business through his lack of professionalism and impulsiveness).
In the effectively two part finale of e6&7 (not counting 8, it does little to tell us stuff we don't already know) it is made brutally clear that Blitzo desperately wants love and intimacy but doesn't know how to get there because he doesn't know how to be vulnerable with people. He ends the episode crying on the couch while knowing that despite having people in his new life, he's still alone and will remain so if nothing changes
Season 2 - opens on a flashback to Stolas as a child where it's revealed the woman he cheated on was an evil monster since birth and only he was the victim in the arranged marriage scenario. He was the only victim when he was forced to have a child he didn't want and the only victim when he kept the marriage going despite it not working for anyone involved. He coerced Blitzo into a sexual arrangement in season 1, but Stolas was the real victim there because...um...Blitzo seduced him for the book and took it after a one night stand, even though sex with Blitzo was something Stolas clearly wanted but didn't have the guts to admit (and he was also the first one to make it sexual, claiming Blitzo came to ravish him for no logical reason whatsoever after shutting them in a room together) and anyone with a brain should be able to figure out that if someone robs you after a one night stand then ghosts you, they aren't actually into you. Sings about how what's between them is a 'lie' despite Stolas initiating it and deluding himself the whole time.
From then on nothing is his fault. He refuses to take any responsibility for his daughter running away and him somehow being unable to find her because he didn't memorize his own spells (he gets out half an apology for forgetting Astaroth's tears before the writing forces Via to let him off the hook). Sexualizes Blitzo some more after being told not to, right when Blitzo could have used some genuine support and comfort.
Spends the rest of the season having people come to his defense on his behalf and having his history with Blitzo being rewritten to include sweet offscreen phonecalls. Decides his cheating didn't matter because Stella never loved him - never mind that the family name is all she's got since she isn't royalty like him, and his adultery is making a joke out of her. Doesn't actually apologize for Ozzie's. Goes to Ozzie for a crystal then acts weirdly shy and says 'no, never that!' when Ozzie talks about lust despite lust being the defining feature of his relationship with Blitzo even into s2.
Is likely to spend the rest of the season shaming Blitzo for not loving him, barely doing anything to address Blitzo's problems with him...and then will promptly be rewarded with Blitzo's love, either because Blitzo gets jelaous when the plot hands him a new boyfriend or because Blitzo decides Stella abusing Stolas means he's a good person, actually
like when you lay it all out it's kind of impressive.
Season 1 is a mostly effective deep dive into why the main character is the way he is, why it's hurting him and an indictment on the current way he lives and behaves
Season 2 is non stop coddling of Stolas and hitting the nail of the viewers' memory of season 1 with the constant hammer of Nothing is Ever Stolas' Fault and You're Wrong if You Think Otherwise, We Called Striker a Bigot to Prove It
what's even more galling is that at least part of Blitzo's behavior is due to being raised in poverty by an abusive father who taught him stealing to get ahead was the right thing to do. part of the chip on his shoulder now is due to people underestimating imps (they don't run businesses often, according to Striker, and most other city imps we see are working low paid service jobs) and thinking they can treat them however they want. but the show will still attempt to frame Blitzo as being in the wrong when he acts out and have characters hold him to task, even if the writing is half-assed about it
meanwhile Stolas is a literal prince but he apparently can't bear the minimum amount of pushback from Blitzo. he's had the power to treat imps like objects his whole life but the show circa season 2 won't permit him to do anything but the minimum amount of introspection about it
God it’s enraging the more I read through this, and you can really tell rich people wrote it. Season one was fantastic, season two shat all over it because that one Erin frost fanart was eaten up like crack and made canon. (Sorry frost it’s not your fault)

Like holy shit you have an abrasive but endearing guy with friends in a tense precarious connection, but they fucking love him and he loves them despite his worsening quirks, with him honestly being the second most toxic one after Loona. Someone who’s been sexually objectified his whole life and just needs respect, affection, open communication, and gentle reassurance, but someone who can also keep his ego in check. Not someone who puts their needs over his and hates when he has feelings that aren’t convenient. Hears him out when he breaks down doesn’t shove him away.

Sorry I could talk about them for hours…they’re just so good together it hurts. Even as kids they bounced off each other but fizz kept him in check.
What he doesn’t need is mind games, public humiliation, a glorified martyr, somebody who demands constant favours and takes and takes until there’s nothing to give. And only reaffirms to him how much of a nothing he is when he has no right to do so. You aren’t owed a relationship. That’s monstrous. Stolas is literally an incel.
