Day 308 art meditation, 2/20/23 I just read about the opera singer Limmie Pulliam, who for ten years gave up his dream to become a professional singer because of body shaming. Michelle Obama wrote the most beautiful post about the full story of his comeback.

Any time I read a book, or watch a film about someone who quit working towards their dreams, my throat instantly tightens up with tears. There is always a reason to quit. Limmie didn’t give up! I’m so thrilled for him, and moved by his story.

Also noteworthy is that he stayed in alignment with people who inspire him, and with people who have the potential of Seeing him for all of who he is. When he worked as a field organizer for Barack Obama’s campaign, giving Limmie a spontaneous chance to sing the national anthem, he was boosted back into believing in his art again.

I want to post about the ways that I am going to commit to All Lines Are Beautiful this year. As always, I have to focus on what I CAN do, what is within me.

◎ I am again posting my logo - aka my Heart Centerpiece. This is the symbol of continuing belief in myself.

◉ I am re-committing to designing Heart Art Bundles for clients. This is a collaborative challenge of NEW art merging with NEW words that creates beautiful new things, which is a core message of All lines are beautiful. I just Believe in this idea.

◎ This year I will finish the first draft of my art memoir.

⦿ Finalize the new artwork for my Love Letter to Senga Nengudi. I will figure out how to get it published.

◎ I will try to make contact with Senga as a new layer of my self esteem.

◉ I am holding a space for myself for future Love Letters, and really feeling these ideas out Inwardly, before I start the actual work.

◎ I am launching a Print Store with my art and photography designs.

⦿ I am going to print art postcards of my artwork. As I write love postcards to my friends and family I discovered there is a lack of art-postcards out there. If I’m going to go whole-hog with being a professional Love Letter writer, of course postcards need to be part of it.

◎ I continue to tune into artists who inspire me. One of my design heroes is the Finnish company Marimekko, and I love how the bold textile designs expanded out into tableware and FINNAIR aircrafts. Follow the Joy, and joy for me is definitely seeing Marimekko art on an airplane!

◉ I continue living in deep and still gratitude, and how far I have come so far. I am so grateful for the art meditation I started in September 2021, which helps me stay connected to my dreams every day. I am grateful for the 100 Day Art Challenge I did in 2019, and the journaling and letters I’ve written since I was little.

So this is me, walking in the direction of my goals, towards my better self, working on transmitting my fears into excitement and enthusiasm - thank you Michael B. Beckwith.

Enthusiasm

Spoiler: This is an excerpt from Nearsight Shadow

Padme beams, her happiness flooding into the Force. She’s excited, and somehow, Ahsoka thinks she’s looking to the future in a way she never has before. Something… changed. She wants to ask, but… really, their friendship isn’t that deep, and Ahsoka doesn’t want to intrude.

“I’ll have it prepared, then,” Padme declares.

“You don’t have to get all this set up just for us me,” Ahsoka interjects, slightly abashed. She’s grateful for it, of course, but still, it’s… weird.

“No, it’s no problem,” Padme reassures, “I’d be doing it anyway. We all need time off sometimes in war.”

Anakin wraps an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. Ahsoka leans into him instantly. Being there would mean… spending time with him again, alone, without having to worry.

And… okay, she’s excited for this, because it’ll mean spending time with Anakin again, time that she has been very much dodging as of late.

I don't know what to tell you.

There are lots of reasons to show up.

You can show up for the Fleetwood Mac. And you wouldn't be disappointed.

You can show up for the performers, each accomplished in their own right as musicians, vocalists, composers, producers. And you wouldn't be disappointed.

You can show up for a straight up rock show. And you wouldn't be disappointed.

Me?

I show up for "Tusk". It's simply the highlight of each show for me, my favorite Fleetwood Mac song that I get to watch performed live by these keepers of that band's spirit.

But there's a difference.

And I didn't put my finger on it until tonight's performance.

The Little Lies bring more energy and passion to the stage.

I'm sure that's unfair.

But it also happens to be true.

During their first set tonight, the band was its usual, relentlessly energetic, engaging, charming, and most of all, impressively enjoyable self.

It was in the second set that the energy in the room went through the roof with a thoroughly passionate performance of Seven Wonders. After which they never looked back.

It was insane.

After the show, out of curiosity, I looked up Fleetwood Mac's live performances of Seven Wonders on YouTube. I watched one after the next. I watched the original music video of the song. And not one of those performances touched what The Little Lies did tonight.

Of course those performances of Seven Wonders are the performances of an iconic band. And that's not nothing. That's classic rock history.

And tonight, The Little Lies took that classic rock history and injected some high octane into it.

Me too, it would be wild if Akane were the only nonmachine member of the clockkeeper.

Personally though? I don't see it...

Mirai is not as mysterious as Kako, we spent some time with her before, and one of her core characteristics is that she loves candy. She is addicted to it! And a gear machine shouldn't be able to have even a phantom of a sense of taste? much less one strong enough to be an exploitable weakness.

She could be a machine based on a human though, perhaps Kako's granddaughter or some other type of relative/loved one, cause machines are a human thing, the idea of becoming immortal, having your soul placed in a machine, is a human thing. The very concept of time being measured and tracked (clocks, moths, years) is a human invention.

If we assume that the mechanical body is Kako's real body, not a clone, like Shijima's clones, then someone built him. Likely a human. And this is absolutely delusion territory but, if Mirai was built based on a living person/Is a living person, she could be the Yorishiro. It would make more sense than Akane at least, who was already stabbed and there was no seal to be seen.

It would also give a new meaning to the "Mirai is kept locked up in our boundary" thing.

Okay okay oaky I have to ask based on the ask abt the disbarment I have to wonder how does Good Guy Godot react when phoenix DOES go too far??? (Ik he’d be going by diego again but I like the alliteration) like??? Would he be kinda pissed seeing what phoenix has become??? Would he be kinda pissed at HIMSELF for not noticing the ways phoenix was changing?? Would he be upset with MIA for not relaying that information to him??? Like???????? The potential?????

The thing is

I actually have to disagree here

I don’t think Diego would think Phoenix went too far

He didn’t lose sight of what was truly important (trucy, his badge, putting a criminal behind bars)

He didn’t lose sight of himself (yes he changed physically, emotionally, became cagier, but he laughed a lot more. It was for an end goal.)

And he didn’t think that murder was okay

So, based on Diego’s rules, he didn’t go too far. Yes, he may have pushed Apollo a little far, but all these mentors keep doing this to their lawyers and no one says anything. Phoenix didn’t commit crimes, and so Diego would have believed that what Phoenix did was justified AND that he was a lot smarter in how he went about things than how Diego was about to go about things before Mia was like “wtf are you doing”

So yes, Phoenix did change. But he didn’t lose himself the way that Diego lost himself when he became Godot.
