Rewatching 'Nikita': "Resistance" 6/73
Tumblr media
As a newer segment on WhatSamWatches, I’ll be rewatching shows and movies just because I feel like it. The first time I watched Nikita, it’d already gone off the air. But I distinctly remember seeing the promos when I watched Smallville. So when I saw it in my Netflix recommendations, I knew I had to watch it. It’s been a while since then so I decided why not rewatch it? So now I’m binging the show from the beginning all over again. Last time, I watched the fifth episode so now I’m onto the sixth episode of Nikita.
Resistance
Tumblr media
Nikita really just brought Alex to her grave. She couldn’t just tell her a normal person, could she?
I know the shorter hairdo is supposed to help differentiate between the present and past but it is not doing Lyndsy Fonseca (Alex) any favors. But her response to learning a little bit about who killed her parents is valid.
So Percy really doesn’t care that Michael broke into his office?
I love how even Percy knows there’s a little something between Michael and Nikita. But he was definitely being cocky assuming that Nikita died.
Nikita and Alex’s Past
Tumblr media
There it is: the origin story of Nikita and Alex. I love that Alex was the first anti-Division action Nikita took.
Well, if Alex actually left it alone after NIkita gave her the money and the fake ID, she could’ve lived a normal life. She obviously had a traumatic past but she’s young enough to turn it all around if she wanted to.
I love that Nikita left the door unlocked for Alex.
So Nikita wants Alex’s help to take down Division but she just wanted her to basically be her handler? She didn’t really think Alex would just accept that, did she? Division killed her parents. Alex isn’t going to just sit back and let Nikita do all the fighting.

Equivalents have many names—soul mates, destined, true love.  So many names, yet no words can fully describe the connection shared between two equivalents.  It is like trying to describe the beauty of a sunset.  You can read about it, see a picture of it, listen to people talk about it—but until you see it, feel it, experience it—nothing can prepare you for its true beauty.
Nothing could have prepared me for the beauty of Amara—or the journey that we would take together. Literally, everything was against us—geography, religion, politics, culture.  They all pushed and pulled us in separate directions, but the world—the world couldn’t break us.
It came close a couple times, but we held on.  We held on to that rope—that invisible tether that bound us together until our hands were calloused and raw. We held on through the pain, through the heartbreak and despair. We held on to it through it all—until the day came where we could finally let go, and instead, our hands could hold each other.
This is a new short story I am currently working on.  It revolves around the concept that at the exact second someone is born, and they take their first breath—another child is born sharing that same breath. These two children form a connection and become each other’s equivalent.  They are connected through mind, body, and soul—and through this connection, they are able to interact with each other regardless of time, distance and all other variables.  In their mind, through their connection, they can talk and touch each other as if they are in the same room when I reality they could be separated by thousands of miles.
This short story will follow the main character, Elliot Howell as goes through life with her equivalent Amara Rahal.  Separated by more just the ocean, these two girls will have to fight against everything in order to be together.

Start A Story With A Joke
Start A Story With A Joke
Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash Start a story with a joke. Humor is more than medicine. Comedy is a key that unlocks the imagination.  Jokes reveal the absurdity in an unpleasant situation. Great drama lives within the tension of discomfort. The right joke leads to the story waiting to be told. Two authors uncovered the germ of a story by using jokes. Elliot Rahal’s joke became introduction to…

Indie Comics Cavalcade - Dan Bublitz, Jr.
Dan used to own a comic book store so he has a lot of great insights into the industry. He also has tons of reading tips for indie comics. We remember the TV show Heroes, which was a little ahead of its time. Is there such a thing as too much collecting? Are big line-wide events annoying? What major comic book story was spoiled by the local news? Why aren't modern comic books more valuable? What makes a comic have value? What is a variant cover? What job does Brett really want? Should Marvel and DC start looking to their 2nd tier characters for movie ideas?
Reading tips: Miles to Go from Aftershock Comics, Knock 'Em Dead by Elliot Rahal, Ed Brubaker's Captain America, Criminal and Reckless by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, The Vein and Bleed Them Dry by Elliot Rahal, Indie publishers: Vault, Aftershock, Oni Press, Vault Comics titles: Heist, Moneyshot (adult), Vampire: The Masquerade, Jimmy's Bastards by Garth Ennis, very local indie publisher Empire Comic Press, Heroes: Godsend (from the TV show), Hot Lunch Special
Movie tip: Bulletproof Monk
App tip: League Of Comic Geeks
