idk if i sound wrong and ungrateful for this but we really need to stop calling our art "content". really. it needs to stop. i can understand that word being used for tiktok videos and other things but not for painting, not for fanart and not for writing.
it really bothers me on so many levels when someone says "i love your content😍" when commenting on my fanfics. and yeah, i get that it comes from a genuinely good place, you're appreciating what i have put out there and you wanted to let me know, i get that.
however, i feel as though the word "content" takes away something valuable in what I've created and puts it in a category where it makes people view my writing as just a commodity, as something as part of a lifeless capitalist system.
and i think i'm also guilty of using this word because i didn't mind it as much before but so much has happened in the last year for me to change my view so i'm trying less to use it when commenting on other people's work.
and i suggest you should too.
