you'd think dick would be the renowned 'biter' of the batfam from his early days as robin, frequently biting attackers when not really necessary. then jason comes along and is 10x worse, doing it purely for his own amusement.
you think, surely the next one won't want to bite people for fun, and you're right, tim bites people as a defence mechanism instead.
by the time the 4th one comes around, it's statistically impossible for him to be a biter, but low and behold, damian's worse than all three of the previous boys combined. the cherry on top is that unlike the others who only bit for fun, as an attack, or as self-defence, never multiple, this one's standard reaction to anything is to bite it.

y'all get this. you're gonna love this.
i went to renew my car registration online last week and was slapped with a nice juicy "NON-RENEWAL" banner when i entered my information. why, you ask? i asked the same thing!
turns out that i had an unpaid toll fee (?!) from june that i was completely unaware of. because of the way toll plazas are just stupid fucking photo booths now, i don't even remember going through this toll. but apparently i did, because they have a picture of my car going through it. whatever. it's like $1.
here's the rub, though. i never received an invoice in the mail for this, and yes my address is up-to-date. so the next month the fee went up. then it went up. then it went up. then it went to collections, where it incurred a $25 fine and barred me from renewing my registration. the total fee they wanted me to pay to clear my non-renewal was nearly $30. for a toll i never even got an invoice to pay. and for those wondering, in order to view and pay your toll online, you must have either the invoice number from the state DOT, or you must have the ticket number from the RMV after you get a non-renewal. which means that even if i had remembered i went through the toll and had attempted to pay it, i would not have been able to because i never got an invoice.
so i did what any pissed off state-hating woman does. i wrote a dispute letter to the DOT saying exactly what i said above and declaring it unjustifiable and wrong.
i did not receive any automated confirmation email that my dispute claim was successfully submitted, nor did i receive any correspondence back about it. but, magically, when i went to the DOT website to check the status of it this afternoon, as i logged in to the RMV website to grab the ticket number, it was gone. and my non-renewal was cleared.
funny, that.
anyway kids the moral of the story is to always fight back against injustice from the state. they're just bullies hoping to grift people who are too timid or too busy to deal with their bullshit. never let it slide. always fight back.

A thing that bothers me is that a lot of pro-ship people are not pro-fiction, and a lot of people who call themselves pro-fiction are not actually pro-fiction.
Without getting into the hypocrisy of people who are pro-ship but not pro-fiction, there's a need to engage in a little bit of healthy gatekeeping here.
I've seen "pro-fiction" folks who understand that sexual topics in fiction are fine, even defending the especially gratuitous stuff as you'd expect, but then they still have their hang-ups about the use of non-sexual tropes that they find distasteful, and I've seen "pro-fiction" people call others "braindead" for being in fandoms they dislike.
So let's set the story straight.
Pro-fiction means all fiction. If you, at any point, claim a certain trope or theme shouldn't ever be used in fiction because it "might offend someone", then you are not pro-fiction. If you insult people for liking a piece of media or being in a fandom that you don't like, then you are not pro-fiction. You are only using the label because it makes you look good.
And for anyone who might be considering replying to this post with anything along the lines of "Yes, except---" then instead consider not doing that. There are no exceptions. Fiction is fiction. I will block you. Have a great day.

i've been noticing helicopters hovering over my town recently after dark, and i only spotted one last night. i just counted FIVE from where i'm sitting, and it's just as loud as it was yesterday, so i'm sure i missed several the night previous. my doctor was unexpectedly called in on active duty for a month, and i'm realizing that these two things are connected. i knew biden was planning on mobilizing troops into palestine supposedly for the port, but the scope of the mobilization he's planning is just now sinking in. i live in the midwest, and i'm certain that this isn't only regional. he's having god only knows how many troops run drills in preparation for whatever comes next.
i genuinely feel sick over this. he's not just giving lipservice and offering paltry humanitarian aid to save face while directly supporting israel - he's actively preparing for a large scale conflict right now.

You prob won’t see this but hi! I follow you and your beautiful wife bc of your love for black women and life tips! I wanna share a story that happened yesterday where I was harassed in a gas station by an aggressive black male security guard and get nonblack poc feedback bc I no longer feel safe around black men and just curious to what advice or thoughts you have.
Last night I walked inside a pilot gas station to use the restroom where I wore a yellow camo track suit with the hood up bc I was cold. The security told me to take my hood down even tho there was no policy where I could see and followed me to the restroom door and called me out my name (I heard him thru the door), after I finished in the restroom I went to confront him at the register he was hiding behind where we got into a heated verbal exchange , I cussed him out amd I hurt his ego evidently bc he felt the need to follow me outside to escalate it but I outtalked him and got in my car. I never took my hood down. I went back in the gas station with a girlfriend for water after informing her of what happened where he then tried to make me remove my hood again and tried to encourage the women at the registers to refuse me service bc I wouldn’t remove my hood, we got into it again. He was aggressive, approached me slamming his hand on the counter, got loud, and sensitive bc I got the best of him twice verbally and in the end I still got the water and never took my hood down; the nice white lady at the register took my money from my friend who paid for it, the black woman at the register was a m@mmy. He nitpicked my outfit and physical appearance but ppl passing thru wore hoods and had pants hanging off their asses, tummy shirts, brought dogs in the store, but was never harassed like I was. I don’t have a problem following a policy but I won’t follow a policy when it’s enforced on me but no one else. So I called the police and they told me to file a complaint with corporate and see what I can do about it so I will be calling them in the morning. Did I mention the security tried to get me banned for trespassing just bc i didn’t back down and verbally whooped him?? LOLL!!! I’ll be carrying a switchblade from now on and learning to shoot a gun real soon!
Read my tags. I'm assuming you're a bw? It doesn't take all the hoodrat buffoonery Glocktavious displayed to ask someone to remove their hood. Talk to a lawyer, they'll help you go about prosecuting Dustavious the right way. So unprofessional. I hope this isn't a late response, I don't really check Tumblr lately or read every ask but yours grabbed my attention. You did the right thing! Always stand up for yourself. You're a savage for checking his ass. Never be afraid of a man, & keep a weapon on you. 👏👏👏👏Insecure, pussy "men" pick fights with women, they think being aggressive & loud intimidates you & they never prepare for a strong retort that shuts their shit down. My completely honest & straightforward unfiltered pov: We need to address the fact that the bullying of bw is a problematic behavior that is perpetuated by bm primarily (not all, but atp it's so common it might as well be). You'd be better off opening up your dating options to men outside of your race, tbh. (Be very selective & careful when itrl dating). Non-bm build their communities & protect their women. [Redacted] That's why I don't understand why some ww leave wm, who have privilege & power, for bm, who 9/10 don't have anything to offer except dick, kids & struggle love. Even when bm manage to have success it doesn't change their crusty ass mentality. I recently learned that a bw is killed by a bm every six hours. [Redacted] Bm are the only race of men who publicly bash, degrade & bully their race of women while praising, fetishizing & worshipping non-bw. But you can't expect men who hate themselves to love or value you. I see the bs bw have to deal with daily & it saddens me. I feel like they target bw cause they think it'll make them men & acceptable in the eyes of wm, it's embarrassing. [Redacted] I can't imagine treating my baby like that. [Redacted] I'll never post or reblog a "this is a safe space for everyone" post. It's not. I don't post for them. I don't want racists/colorists in my space where bw & woc tell me that they feel safe, seen & protected. I gatekeep my blog so that you're safe expressing your feelings here. I thought it was obvious since I never acknowledge bm but it needs to be said. I 100% agree with the bw advising bw to choose higher quality men. You should watch Cynthia G & Paris Milan on YouTube & other black women who cover domestic & racial topics, it's very educational & insightful, they offer a lot of perspective & I agree with so many points they make. [Redacted] The best advice I can give you is to run & never look back. Good luck. ❤️
#you can sue him personally for discrimination & verbal harassment & file a complaint with corporate#If you're banned from the store then you can have the cops get his information & press charges#once corporate finds out about the incident he'll more than likely lose his job#Make sure to stress that he intentionally embarrassed you by making a scene followed you to the bathroom & outside of the store in attempt#to escalate the situation he was highly aggressive & approached you & that you felt scared for your safety which caused emotional distress#those are super important details & ultimately where he fucked up#& if you're able to write down the date/time this occurred & have the camera footage obtained by police & your friends as witnesses#it'll help your case#The moment someone loses their cool & lowers themself even lower than they already are you already won#As you go through life the more jackasses you'll encounter & you'll become so immune that shit won't even anger you the way it used to#Speaking from experience#I don't see him living long cause losers who fuck with people & think being loud & ghetto gives them an upper hand never live a long life#toxic masculinity is a fear of strong women masked by a fraudulent superiority complex#he's corny asf if the only thing he could think to call you was ugly like what guy doesn't automatically run to that as an insult?#They even use it when they get rejected it's always that or 'bitch' cause they're sooo original#they're tiring#long post#ask

y'all, can we please not repost other people's meta and stuff without credit to twitter/instagram, etc.... i keep seeing my own posts and mutuals posts stolen without even a link back to the source. it sucks. you absolutely do not need to crosspost other people's posts for them, a lot of us have multiple social media accounts, and if we don't, then it should be staying on tumblr. you wouldn't steal and repost a fic (i hope) so treat meta with the same respect. aside from the fact that i know for me personally it generally takes at least several hours to write and collect citations & screenshots, there's also a decent chance that whoever wrote it put sensitive/personal information in that they might not want you sharing out of context. i've used my own experiences as reference in my metas before, and i have never been asked permission to repost anywhere, yet i am seeing them around. i feel incredibly uncomfortable with it being screenshotted and shared around, especially without as much as my url visible in the image, and it's extremely disheartening to spend time on these things and then see them shared around without it even being properly attributed to you. be courteous, please.

Thinking about childhood today
Thinking about when I started school. And kids would talk to me. And I just... would not speak. Just did not have words. They said I was cold or rude. Eventually called me a ghost. Treated me as a non-person. Would not talk to adults, either. Not teachers, not doctors.
Thinking about how that continued on forever. They ask me a question, I could show them an answer, if they asked what book or what animal or anything, I'd show them but that's 'rude.'
Thinking about how I could not speak to my parents, only pushed out words to them when they threatened me. And how that continued on forever.
I struggle to speak without very specific scripts. I can write. Not with more social knowledge but at least words come, I have so many words in my brain. I use AAC pretty well. But I never had words for my parents or my grandparents, for my cousins or aunts or uncles. They grew old and away or passed away and I never had 'conversations' with them that weren't 'hi how are you okay bye' (a script) or echoes that they half-way understood. My father used to frequently tell me he didn't know who I was because I didn't speak to him. Of course, he didn't want scripts and was annoyed by echoes. He wouldn't look at the art I made or read my writing or watch movies or shows or share music with me. He refused every other way I had to communicate. My dad would not read the (literal) writing on the wall so... in the end he was right. He never did know who I was. My siblings and I echo (echolalia) back and forth to each other and that is our language, but as speech therapists will account for, echo isn't considered 'independently speaking' which I guess is their way of saying 'not speaking the right way,' which is to say, 'so that the outside understands.' Which is a shame because I love so many things I have many echoes for many occasions! They are just not original phrases or thoughts, just adopted reactions because as it's been made painfully clear to me, I will never have my own. As if I am the impression of all that touches me but nothing else. If people see me echo or script, they assume I talk with no difficulty. But I can't, and when they inevitably experience that, they get angry and think I'm rude/cold/hateful. And they take it out on me and are congratulated for it because I'm so hateful for not speaking. I get tired. Tired of living for abuse. Even other people with speech difficulties, because guess what? They don't magically understand, either, and I don't have a way to explain because of the assumptions of how being semiverbal works, at least for me. The assumption is always, somehow, that you speak typically except for episodes of speech loss-which is bizarre to me, because I (and the majority of other developmentally delayed and intellectually disabled autistics I've known in the flesh) who have been semiverbal definitely do not communicate like that. But then, I guess that makes sense that people don't know that, because we're not really among the autistic people who typically 'get out much.' Why is speaking so hard? Why can't I understand it? Why can't I do it right? How come I know where to put italics but can't make the people bark sound? I've had decades to be at least as good as a middle schooler so why can't I do it? Even if I try to talk to friends when they repeat back to me I realize that I haven't said enough to be understood or to make sense.
Why am I so bad at this? It's rhetorical. Of course I know it's my autism. It just affects me so bad that I can't make new friends or ask necessary questions or to protect myself. I just stare at people I'd love to talk to and reach out to but we can be two feet apart and oceans away at the same time.
Cuz we'll never talk, and that's just the truth.
My experience of semi-verbal/semi-speaking is all the time, not episodic speech loss.
While I have empathy for those with episodic speech loss and nonspeaking people, our experiences are not the same. Please stop assuming all semi-speaking people suffer episodic speech loss but otherwise have normal speech. You're erasing people like me, thanks.
-
I'm very much for everyone staying in their respective lanes! All our experiences should be respected and should have their space. For that reason...
Verbal/typically speaking people
People who experience speech loss episodes/selective mutism/anxiety related speech loss/speech difficulty is not a permanent state of being
Nonverbal/nonspeaking people
DNI with this post please! It's not for you-

So how old Saiou is
I am going to try and explain what we know of Saiou’s age, just so it’s somewhere. And no, we don’t have any official information on that matter, all we have are hints from the anime.
In the sub, the only time someone refers to Saiou’s age is here:
Tumblr media
(fansub from @kaiowut99 )
Where Chronos notice he’s young for a manager upon meeting him. It’s not so much the manager part that matters than that Saiou is visibly young. So we know that, in-universe, Saiou does not look like and adult.
Following that aspect, we can notice that in season 4 he looks significantly different.
Tumblr media
Meaning that he is, indeed, at the end of his growth. The last thing we know is that, 10 years before, when he met Edo, he was still a child or teenager (no there’s no way to tell more precisely based on visuals).
Tumblr media
So, given all that, we can give an age range: something around late teenagehood - early 20s. 17-24 maybe. Pretty much the same range as Ryo or Fubuki. You could go for the upper limit or even a bit higher by giving an explaination to the growth delay (transition, effect of the light...) though there is none in-canon.
Now, all this is in the sub. The dub change things a little. (And I don’t have screenshots for the dub because I don’t have access to an english dub with subs).
Chronos’ comment is removed. Season 4 doesn’t exist. Instead, we have Chronos commenting in ep 73 “he’s a bit older than our average freshman” which I take as meaning he does look like an adult in this universe.
Finally, while we do have the flashback up there (where Saiou talk about his premonition), we don’t have the ones from the graveyard. So this one could be anytime after. Still, Saiou was still a child or teenager when Edo was a kid. So he could be pretty much anywhere in his 20s, likely between 23-27.
So how old is Saiou? It entirely depends on what canon you want to follow. If you’re more into the sub canon, he’s a late teen or very young adult. If you’re into dub canon, he’s a young adult.
And if you’re wondering how that’s possible with how he looks, the truth is he only looks old because of his terrible health. Once he’s not looking like a walking corpse, he does look younger (and very cute).

How do you know if you are autistic?
Me personally? Did a lot of research. Read some books. Googled around. Read a bunch more shit on ASAN's website. Read the DSM-5 guidelines for an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. Got a bunch of autistic friends to point at me and chant "ONE OF US! O N E O F U S ! !"
Made a Big Ol' Bulleted List of symptoms and personal anecdotes about Autistic Shit I Do Now/Did When I Was A Kid And Theoretically Masked Less. Talked to a couple therapists and they both said "Well, I'm not personally qualified to diagnose that kind of thing myself, but it sounds fairly likely. I can refer you out to somebody who can do the test."
Thought about it a bit. Determined that I probably wouldn't benefit much from any particular Disability Accommodations in my professional life because I have a pretty neurodivergent-friendly job atm. Also, determined that the risks of facing further ableism for having a diagnosis on record weren't worth it unless I would REALLY REALLY gain anything materially from an official diagnosis. Also the testing is mad expensive even with insurance because I live in the US.
Current therapist agreed that was a perfectly fine course of action, and that if learning coping skills from my siblings in the autistic community is what helped me understand myself better and feel seen, then it didn't super matter if I Actually Technically For Sure met the DSM standards for diagnosis.
So I've just considered myself Self-Diagnosed But Peer Reviewed for a while now.
