BnHA Chapter 318: On Your Left
Previously on BnHA: The Hawksquad+Lurkers were all “well this sucks” and sat around a bit talking about how maybe they should actually come up with a new plan that is actually good, but then in the end they were like “nah.” Deku was all, “THERE’S SOMETHING INSIDE ME THAT PULLS BENEATH THE SURFACE!! CONSUMING, CONFUSING!! THIS LACK OF SELF CONTROL I FEAR IS NEVERENDING. IT’S HAUNTING HOW I CANT SEEM TO FIND MYSELF AGAIN. MY WALLS ARE CLOSING IN.” Just, literally that whole entire song. All Might was all “Deku you should take care of yourself, try eating a thing,” and Deku was all “BYE, ALL MIGHT,” and just LEFT. He left!!! What the fuck!!!
Today on BnHA: Endeavor is all, “maybe if Deku didn’t listen to All Might he’ll listen to me instead.” Deku is all, “[doesn’t listen to Endeavor]” because, well, yeah. The Vestiges are all, “surprisingly, even we are a little concerned -- maybe you should get some rest, kid.” Deku is all, “((Ò ‸ Ó)).” The Vestiges are all, “holy shit.” Deku is all, “[wanders the ruined city streets terrifying the populace on account of him looking like Shelob had a baby with one of the Nazgul].” Some shriveled-up puppeteer villain asshole is all, “HORIKOSHI SAID IT’S MY TURN TO ATTACK DEKU TODAY SO I AM GOING TO SUMMON MY FRIGHTENED HELPLESS ATTACK MOB!!” Kacchan is all “WHADDYA MEAN THEY FOUND THE NERD!!! -- oh wait, that’s me, I found him. I found the nerd, you guys.” And just in time, too. I was about to owe a whole lot of people a whole lot of dollars.
so I have been super good about spoilers this week as always, but let me tell you guys, for the past 36 hours my dash filters have basically been nonstop “manga spoilers” this and “bnha 318” that, and so I’m coming in with a fair amount of hype here. your move, Horikoshi

(ETA: imagine what this must look like to Deku though. he’s been caught up in this dark cloud of despair and exhaustion that’s been building up over... I’m gonna go ahead and say “weeks”, because yeah. and now he finds himself here, in the place where All Might’s legacy ended and the torch was passed to him. and the world is in ruins, and he’s surrounded by frightened people who are all trying to hurt him -- because who isn’t trying to hurt him, these days -- and he’s scrambling to figure this all out, but meanwhile the weariness is finally starting to catch up to him, and so he’s basically just standing there in a fog of complete and utter misery.
and then all of a sudden through that haze, he hears the one voice that’s more familiar than any other that he knows. like, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he thought he was just imagining it at first. Kacchan showing up to save him right when he’s at his most desperate and feeling the most alone. Kacchan, showing up to save him.
this is the person he always looked up to as a child (to be fair he was quite a strange child lmao). the person who was even closer to him than All Might. the person he always thought was amazing. and bam, here he is now. appearing in the sky out of nowhere to one-shot the bad guy with a single blast (which, btw, that was his armor-piercing attack too lmao dslkjlk take it easy there kiddo). like, that must have felt absolutely surreal to him, especially coming at a time when he’s already half-delirious and barely hanging on to reality. he must have really thought that he was losing it there for a second.
but he’s really there. it really is him. and for this brief moment -- before the rest of the situation catches up to him, and he remembers about all of the fucked-up AFO stuff, and remembers why he was so afraid and why he was pushing everyone away -- for just this one brief moment, he’s too exhausted and stunned to do anything except to just react. just stands there, looking up at him in awe.
and you know, it almost reminds me of...
just. you guys. the character development. the freaking character development. someone who brings reassurance. someone who shows up and makes you think, “oh, it’s all going to be okay now, because [person] is here.” the role reversals. the growth. the payoff!! because who is the one person who always had faith that Kacchan would one day grow up to become an amazing hero like that. WHO IS IT. YOU ALREADY KNOW.

320 bits I wanna talk about
Iieda looks like he’s doing the *inhale* before the BOI IF YOU DON’T- meme. Something along the lines of “BOI IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR ASS BACK TO UA-” kind of thing lol.
He holding something in definitely. Maybe charging up for an attack? Idk but he sure seems concentrated
Actually, Iieda seems kinda considering. Maybe he’s weighing up if he should join in the fight, as if he’s asking “Will I have to fight Midoriya, if it comes down to it? Or can the others handle this?” Something tells me he doesn’t want to have to weigh in on the fight. Maybe tear into Izuku verbally, but fight? No I don’t think he wants to do that
But also, I find it interesting that that black panel of text is under him and then it cuts to Bakugou yelling at Izuku. I mean, it could very well be Bakugou thinking that, but if that’s so, then why is Iieda the first person we see?
So, I think it’s Iieda thinking that. Tensions are rising, it seems. I’m expecting his turn to be full of a lot of emotion, or at least trying to get across to Izuku that he feels betrayed but mostly just wants Izuku to come back home.
I don’t really know what’ll happen with Iieda exactly, but I’m totally interested to see what happens
I know Bakugou has problems with his emotions and words and stuff, but I also think here he’s trying to anger Izuku in order to get him to fight back, maybe so he’s more angry than flexible in a fight, so the end result would be Izuku getting too angry to predict anything and eventually tripping up, and that’s when 1A could capture him.
The one thing to remember about Izuku is that allowing him to think is going to be the opponent’s downfall. We saw in the Kacchan VS Deku 2 fight that Bakugou knew this and so kept attacking as much as possible so Izuku wouldn’t have time to think. Which worked, because Izuku is great at analysis, so making his “Win” attitude [getting competitive therefore putting more energy into attacking than strategy] come out over his “Save” attitude [you’re my friend and I want to help you] is kind of a weakness of his. That’s kind of one of the reasons he lost that fight.
Then again, maybe Izuku has improved since then? I don’t really know but I think enough time has passed for him to have maybe improved more on that so idk we’ll see

I know it’s like the only moment Izuku and Ojiro shared, with the sports festival thing, but it’s still really sweet that Ojiro sees that Izuku stood up for him

This is kind of a chilling and pretty scene though. The rain falling above Izuku and him looking down with these piercing green eyes likely being the only light between them. Good stuff.

Also let’s appreciate that Satou caught Ojiro and Jirou and managed to land on a freaking traffic light. The balance on this kid! Very well done

Does Shouji have some kind of support-item?? Or could he always do the stretchy thing?? Or I guess maybe he’s just stretching his arms out like branches [like he usually does] and using them as more like a capture weapon rather than his usual stuff. I don’t think we’ve ever seen him use his heteromorph body and quirk for anything other than the 5 senses, though I could be wrong
Also Shouji remembering what Izuku said at the training camp, I’m so glad! Shouji always seems like the kind to be so protective over his friends, so I’m glad he remembered that. Then again, Izuku did compare them to freaking ALL MIGHT, but if the nice analytical kid in your class who knows your limits and strengths says you could basically beat A GOD, then that’s definitely one for the memory scrapbook lmao
“It’s nice and dark here, Dark Shadow.” Who said that?? Kami or Izuku?? I just have this mental image of Izuku being shrouded in darkness and trying to keep his eyes open from falling asleep haha
Tokoyami remembering that from all the way back then!! It makes me think that not only have Bakugou and Izuku been watching each other, but that Izuku has always had everybody’s eyes on him! Which is true, he’s inspired everyone! It goes both ways; Izuku loving his friends, and them loving him back :’)

This kind of segment, with a mask falling, a space in-between and a reveal, reminds me of Compress’ reveal :) In that, the person is hiding their identity and then when the mask comes off, they reveal who they truly are underneath
While Izuku is of course determined to go after AFO and is quite the fearsome powerhouse, I really think when he takes off that mask, he’s showing who he really is underneath - a scared little boy who just wants everyone to be happy
JESUS, SHOUTO REALLY IMPROVED HIS QUIRK HUH!! LOOK AT IT, IT’S EVEN HIGHER THAN THE SKYSCRAPERS!!

Kind of like saying “Oh you look upset. But that’s weird, I thought Heroes weren’t supposed to cry.” Lol it really shows here how pissed Shouto is at Izuku
But then he relents from that snark and is like “Hey, come on, we’ll share this burden. I’m not letting you go it alone, remember that we’re all here.” :’)
I love when Shouto is sassy and passive aggressive but I also love it when he shows that soft side of him
Okay, this is something I really love.
Tsuyu didn’t join the Bakugou Rescue Squad because “they would be just like Villains breaking the rules”
But here she is, learning from that regret of hers and coming right back to make sure Izuku isn’t the one struggling. She wants to be a part of this rescue squad and pick up where she left off :)
Tsuyu has always struggled with her regrets. It was shown after Kamino when she cried, but for me, I only realised this fully during the Joint Arc when she had her regrets about not making better decisions and not being quick enough [I think that was it].
“I won’t cry in such a flurry” reminds me of “I want to live a life without regret” and so that’s what she’s saying here. This won’t be another regret of hers. She wants to do her best to save her friend
“When scared, you’re allowed to tremble when it’s tough, you’re allowed to shed tears. That’s how you become a Hero like in the comics.”
I feel like that quote piggybacks off of Shouto’s “Heroes cry too”, in that, this is now 1A comforting Izuku. This is them fully coming up to him and telling him that they can help, and that he’s allowed to feel sad about his situation. Shouto’s quote was the teaser, while this entire chapter [and the rest that come to follow] is the main course.
And this is exactly who Tsuyu is. Reassuring, comforting, someone dependable. It says a lot that she’s come from not going to help in Kamino, confessing her feelings and crying about it, then coming back in a similar situation and offering her help - that she’s not willing to just let an opportunity go to better herself. I think I remember reading a few posts on her crying after Kamino and saying it was “performative” or that she just “wanted attention” or smthg like that, but I think she’s really just quite an honest person, and here she is making a great show of how she won’t let something like her guilt slow her down from being the hero she wants to be.
[A part of me feels like this is also a little more evidence with the whole People Not Caring About Bakugou’s Feelings Of Helplessness but like. I digress. It kinda counts but at the same time, it’s not what is going on at the moment.]
Seeing everyone try to reassure Izuku was lovely, and I can’t wait for the rest. I’ve seen a lot of people waiting more for Bakugou’s portion of the battle [AND YEAH DUDE ME TOO] but I really feel like Bakugou’s won’t come until like 2 chapters later or something.
Cause, if this chapter is anything to go by, we’ll probably get through Mina, Mineta, Kirishima, Hagakure and Aoyama next chapter, and then we’ll move onto the “more important” conflicts which will be Iieda and Uraraka, and if their segments are chocked with tension drama and tears, then Bakugou will have a whole chapter to himself hopefully.
Which means we’ll probably have to wait 2 more chapters until we get that sweet, sweet Bakugou chapter :( I hope I’m wrong and it comes sooner than predicted but whatever
I know for some people, that’s all they want, but personally I love these little bits that reflect on the background characters. As someone who isn’t really obsessed with the background characters but also likes them enough to appreciate their development/the little moments they have, I gotta say I really liked this :)

BNHA Chapter 320 Short Spoiler Analysis: The Power of Friendship
The battle between Deku Vs. Class A has begun! Well, it’s technically a battle, but more so a “Catch-A-Deku” situation. Everyone is trying to use their cool Super Moves and words of friendship to try to convince Deku to come back home. They’re all reminding him all of times he helped them, so they’re trying to return the favor. So far, I think half the class was featured here including Shoto who I thought would be saved til the end. Maybe he will be featured again since he’s one of Deku’s closest friends. What’s interesting is that the trio that was shown at the end of last week’s chapter, Bakugo, Ochako, and Iida, didn’t have their heart-to-hearts with Deku this week, so I bet you they’re being saved for the end. Anyway, my left hand is still on the mend, so I’ll keep this one short this week. I hope it heals soon.
The 2nd Color page is shown this week! It’s of Froppy this time around! I think it’s been a while since we’ve seen Froppy featured in a color page, so this is cool to see. She looks really good here too. Horikoshi’s art rarely disappoints. Next week is going to be the 7th BNHA Anniversary color page and the 7th Popularity Poll announcement, so I’m excited for that. Apparently we’re going to get a lot of BNHA things next week including things for the WHM movie, Team-Up Missions, and the WHM one-shot manga.
I love how at the beginning, Bakugo breaks the 4th wall here by commenting on how Deku’s “art style” underwent a complete change. It’s both a good taunt on Bakugo’s part and some acknowledgment from Horikoshi-sensei on the change of Deku’s design in general since this arc began.
So, Bakugo did tell the rest of 1-A about Deku’s other Quirks which is good. I thought that would be the case after remembering that Bakugo read All Might’s OFA archive book. Bakugo would still look over the other Holder’s Quirks, so he would have knowledge on the 4th-6ths Holders. Problem is that none of them know of the 2nd and 3rd’s Quirks, so dealing with Fa-Jin will be troublesome. None of us know what the 2nd’s Quirk is yet though, but I have a feeling we’ll see it in this battle.
Quite a few new Super Moves debut in this chapter!
Katsuki Bakugo: Shockwave Landmine: Looks like Bakugo creates a blast on the ground so that the blast blows away anything around it like Deku’s Smokescreen. It’s a big blast too, so Bakugo’s got a lot of range with this thing.
Kiyoka Jiro: Heartbeat Wall: It’s hard to tell, but I think it’s a move where Jiro uses her sound waves to block or stop whatever comes her way. It could be really effective to stop anyone who can hear I’m sure.
Fumikage Tokoyami: Ragnorok: “Womb”: It’s a like a capturing move that traps anyone within Dark Shadow. It kind of looks like one of the moves Tokoyami uses in The Strongest Hero Game. Unless someone has a light Quirk, I can see this move being very effective in capturing villains.
Really, everyone is doing their best to remind Deku of all the good times they had with them. They’re using the power of feels and friendship to bring their sacrificial idiot home. I like to believe it’s working given how Deku is finally shown crying tears of sadness as he pushes his friends away. God, please let this kid have a good cry. How they’ll be able to catch Deku though I still have no idea.
Deku is able to overpower pretty much everyone this chapter. Even Tokoyami, who is considered one of the strongest in the class, and Momo who created this insanely complex machine to try to put Deku to sleep (how the hell did she make that anyway???). At the end he’s captured by Shoto’s Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall (which he’s standing on btw and looks so damn pretty 💙☺️), but I doubt that will last. Deku’s probably going to break right through the ice next chapter.
Speaking of Shoto, since I’m such a simp for him 😔, he has the least amount of dialogue out of everyone having heart-to-hearts with Deku. But what he says is significant: he basically asks Deku if he can still truly cry and for Deku to share the responsibility with his friends. I think this is calling back to when Shoto reassured Deku that heroes are allowed to cry back in the Overhaul arc and when Deku meddled with Shoto’s life to save him. Which is essentially the philosophy everyone’s running on. Meddling in Deku’s mission is the only way to save him now.
Side note, but I love that Kaminari is the one to tell Deku to take a freaking bath 😂! Like, we’ve all been telling Deku that, but it’s good to know that Horikoshi and his characters are thinking the same thing. Now someone has to tell Deku to eat a good meal and take a long nap.
Also, small detail, but Sato comes in at one point and reminds Deku that they won’t be able to make candied apples for Eri anymore if Deku doesn’t come back. Deku tells Sato that Eri will be fine without him 😭. No, Deku, you dumbass! Eri needs her big bro in her life! I can’t imagine how sad she must be if she already knows about Deku’s disappearance 😭❤️
I’m also glad to see pretty much every student get some kind of spotlight especially the ones who are more minor characters than the others. Koda actually gets a mini-monoluge this chapter. Also, Froppy’s got a lot of focus at the end along with the color page this chapter. Which, I’m glad to see. It’s been a long time since Tsuyu got some spotlight. Really, all the girls need more spotlight. I assume everyone else will get their shine the next few chapters.
It’s small and I’m still trying to find the meaning of it, but there’s one panel after Deku escapes from Tokoyami showing him flying through the air in the background and you can see the All Might statue at the forefront. I want to say this symbolizes Deku being All Might’s successor or something, but I’m not sure. This one just stood out to me for some reason.
But yeah, like I said, the last half of the class will probably be featured next chapter. I think Bakugo will be the last person to talk to Deku since he’s the most important one here. Remember: Bakugo knows Deku better than anyone. He will be the turning point I’m positive. Iida and Ochako will definitely have an impact on Deku, but Bakugo will truly HIT DIFFERENT! I won’t be surprised if that last conversation leads up to Deku Vs. Kacchan Part 3. I wouldn’t be mad if that will happen tbh. Part 2 was about understanding Bakugo and letting his feelings out. Part 3 could be Deku’s turn. And of course you gotta have a trilogy to cap it off. I’m really excited to see what happens next!

I got another little One-shot idea recently…
It’s kind of part wondering what Toga’s gonna do on the loose, other part my usual BakuDeku drabble.
Happy Leak Day once again, everyone! :D
Content warning for blood and needles and violence!
I’ve never written Toga before, but I hope I’ve done her well.

Late in the night, a single nurse stalked down the hallway. Visiting hours were long since over, and the lockdown the hospital had been placed under made it especially quiet and dismal. The soft squeak of the young man’s tennis shoes drew pause from an orderly behind a desk, and she looked up.
“Oh! I thought you’d gone home!” The orderly remarked, and the young man turned around, scrubs looking a bit disheveled.
“Just one last thing to check and I should be able to sleep,” the man said in an exhausted tone. “I’ll only be a minute.”
The orderly clutched her hands together nervously. It had sounded like the nurse had a bit more of a rasp to his voice than usual, an unfamiliar lilt to his speech. And strangely…The wing he was entering hadn’t even been on his rotation in weeks.
“Ok… And then go home and get some rest.” She said to his back as he continued on his path. He made no acknowledgement of her. “That’s not like him…” she whispered softly.
She noticed, suddenly, the specks of blood smeared in a trail after the nurse, as if a small bit of blood had been smeared to the tip of a shoe. Heart skipping a beat, she hoped she was wrong….as she reached for the after hours emergency phone.
Just in the folds of the nurse’s scrubs, his hand curled around the cold metal of a set of needles. Tennis shoes scuffed softly to a stop as his eyes set on the name plate he’d been searching for.
“Izuku Midoriya”
He smiled with a set of fangs glinting in the darkened hallway.

Izuku could sense something was wrong.
The sharp pain in his head roused him from what had been a very light slumber. But in the darkness, the quiet, and amidst all the other tingling and aching sensations of pain, he questioned if the quirk could ever be honed to be less vague.
“…Kac..chan?” He murmured worriedly. He had to let Katsuki know that something didn’t feel right.
The pain blossomed in his head again as the door from the hallway swung open, and suddenly, Izuku was awake. A tall, masculine frame stood in the threshold.
But he knew it wasn’t Katsuki.
…But Katsuki also wasn’t in his bed or his usual seat by Izuku.
Panic began to settle heavily in Izuku’s chest…what was going on?
And with the sedatives in his system, his arms still broken and encased in splints and bandages, he wondered what he could do about it on his own.
The silhouette of the nurse walked to the bed, and the door drew closed behind him, only leaving a sliver of dim hallway light.
“Perfect. I wanted the chance to talk to you alone,” a low strum of a voice sounded from the man. “It’s been so long…Izuku.”
Izuku felt his skin crawl.
“Who are you,” Izuku demanded, in a voice that was breathy from exhaustion. “You’re not one of my regular nurses.”
The nurse placed both hands on Izuku’s bed and leaned over him, eyes seeming to glow brightly from the small light near Izuku’s bed.
“Oh, come on, Izuku. Don’t tell me you don’t know by now…you’ll make me cry!” He crooned, before his expression turned abruptly sour. “Ochako-chan said such mean things already and made me cry. It was horrible.”
Izuku’s mind raced. The mannerisms, the mention of Uraraka. And it hit him.
“Himiko Toga,” he growled, and suddenly found a thick needle pressed to his neck, her other hand planted on the other side of his face.
“That’s much better. Thank you, Izuku-chan.” Toga said, the man’s voice sickly sweet. “You’ve always been so nice.”
“What have you come for?!” Izuku gritted, painfully aware of the needle she was toying with against his bare skin.
“I really wanted to see you when you were still all dirty and bloody! But, there were too many nurses and doctors and all your little friends around you, I couldn’t even get close.” Toga pouted. “But you still took so long to wake up and all I’ve wanted was to ask you, too.”
“Ask me what?” Izuku urged. He didn’t dare give the door a glance, but he was depending on Katsuki. The blonde had never left the room for long, and in the middle of the night with no visitors and nowhere to go outside the wing of the hospital, he could only conclude that he’d be back soon.
Toga smiled a hollow smile.
“I wanted to ask you about Twice. And Mr. Compress. Even Big sis Mag. They all died,” the expression on her disguised face became twisted with anguish. “Did they ever matter to you and other heroes? Did it matter to you that Twice was murdered by a Hero?”
Izuku flinched as the sharp tip of Toga’s needle pressed harder into his skin, just barely short of piercing him.
“I told Ochako-chan about my Quirk. About how I love taking the blood of people I love…Becoming them. Isn’t that nice? I think it’s so thrilling…Getting to know someone, now I can even get to know their Quirk!” Izuku’s face twitched with surprise, at her words just then.
“Get to know our Quirk?” Izuku rasped, speaking softly, careful of his own movement with her imminent threat. “What do you mean by that?” Toga giggled. One yellow, catlike eye stared back at him as the skin of her face bubbled around it.
“It’s just that, Izuku! If I love someone very much, I can even use their Quirk when I become them!” Toga smiled a dark and fangy grin as the rest of her disguise melted away. “I know. Because I already used Ochako-chan’s Quirk! I used it and killed someone who was trying to kill me!”
Izuku suddenly felt ice cold. The twinge in his head returned and he consciously resisted gritting his teeth against the sudden pain.
“I feel closer to them, you know? Like how I feel closer to you, Izuku-chan, and Ochako-chan, when I become you.” She cocked her head, bangs that were usually a bit more straight-kept tilting around her glowing eyes and pink cheeks.
“Are we wrong Izuku? Do you think I’m wrong? Am I bad for wanting the world to like me and my friends like they like your friends? You don’t have to change to be loved…You don’t have to hold back your powers. Why should we? Is that wrong?” Her pleas became more desperate, her body shaking. “Was Twice…wrong too? Tell me, Izuku…”
Izuku cried out softly as she plunged the needle into a thick part of his neck, and she leaned toward him, long stray strands of blonde hair draping down to his green curls. She seemed to turn from sweet and sad to deadly and angry, as blood began to fill the vial on the needle. Her pupils narrowed at him.
But even so, Izuku could not help but notice as he glared up at her, unable to fight back…
Toga had tears in her eyes.
“Did Twice deserve to die??”
Izuku gaped up at her, swallowing the swell of pain from his neck.
“Do you think….I deserve to die, too??” With that, her tears spilled and ran down her cheeks. “Because I want a different life!?”
“I…” Izuku couldn’t know where to start with that question. The drain of his blood made it so hard to continue to concentrate. “Toga, I–,”
At that moment, a creak from the door, and a clatter sounded behind Toga.
Both gazes turned, and found Katsuki, his hands suddenly empty, two bottles of juice at his feet. Red eyes smoldered dangerously, wide and locked on Himiko Toga. He’d already sunk into a defensive stance, palms up and tiny explosions already popping at his fingertips.
“YOU.” Was Katsuki’s thunderous growl. “Get the Hell out and DIE!!”
Before Toga could collect herself, Izuku made his move.
An arc of Black Whip shot out of his mouth, and launched to apprehend his assailant. He’d managed to capture only one arm, as he hurled her into the opposite wall, and flinched as the needle tore out of his skin, still grasped tightly in her other hand.
Not missing his cue, Katsuki leapt at her and pinned her free arm to the wall, his other hand poised, palm open and crackling with orange glow.
Katsuki looked over his shoulder to check on Izuku, seeing the stream of blood dripping down his neck and beginning to stain the fabric of his shirt. Back to Toga, he saw the needle still in her pinned hand, the same bright red sloshing around in the glass. With a deep rumble in his chest, he bared his teeth.
“You’re gonna fucking regret that, villain,” He seethed, anger glowing in his crimson eyes.
“Katsuki Bakugou. It’s been a while.” Toga drawled in a bemused tone, yellow eyes narrowed at him. “You interrupted us. I won’t forget that.”
“Kacchan, I can’t hold her for long,” Izuku gasped around the now flickering tendril. His energy was depleting fast despite his struggle to remain in the fight. “If-if I could just get out of this bed…I could be more useful–” He wriggled uncomfortably in his bed, stretching out legs that still felt so weak and useless. It took far too much effort to bend just one of his knees in an effort for leverage without his arms.
“Hey, don’t you fucking dare!! Stay the hell down, Deku!” Katsuki barked over his shoulder just as he saw the flicker of green sparking through Izuku’s hair. His eyes slid back to Toga’s sour expression. “That girl at the desk was actually smart enough to know better and sound the alarm. The guards are gonna be here any second. They can take care of this.”
The sound of heavy footsteps hammered outside their room, and some of the lights came up on command of a distant control panel. Izuku summoned all of his strength to maintain his Quirk until help arrived, but Toga seemed to decide for herself that her game was up. Taking advantage of Izuku’s weakened state, she snapped through Black Whip with another needle in hand and brought it swinging towards Katsuki’s side.
“Kacchan!!” Izuku yelled weakly, at the exact time Katsuki countered with a small explosion against Toga’s arm. Toga yelped, but didn’t give in, and was able to land her needle into the meat of his forearm instead. Katsuki cursed, the glass vial attached already filling with stolen blood. He snarled, and doubled his efforts and grappled her wrist to keep her there.
“You took a really bad hit during that battle, didn’t you, ‘Kacchan’?!” Toga laughed, stealing Izuku’s nickname for him. In the same instant, she brought a knee straight up to connect with Katsuki’s stomach just enough to send a piercing jolt through his still-healing wound, both hands immediately loosening enough for Toga to break free. “That’s what I thought!”
“Kacchan!!” Izuku cried again, as Katsuki stumbled against the wall where he’d just had her cornered. His face contorted as pain mixed with rage, and he thrust another barely restrained explosion at her exposed leg as she darted across the room. As the guards ran in to protect the two teenagers, he grit his teeth and instead pressed himself against the wall, out of the way. His Quirk was no good in here anyway, with so much expensive equipment in the way and more importantly, the risk of endangering any other patients in the area with structural or fire damage to the inside of the building, he couldn’t go all out in battle even though he wanted to.
Now completely herself and two vials of blood in tow, she had bolted to the window and punched the glass hard. The shards fell around her in sparkling bits as she withdrew a bleeding arm. Vases, cards and flowers that were gifted to the two boys over the past week, rained onto the floor as she scaled the counter in front of the window sill and she climbed over all the debris, bare feet finally on the threshold.
“Toga, What you’re doing is wrong!” Izuku yelled quickly over the chaos. She paused, curtains billowing around her, staring icily at him. “But I don’t want you to die for it!! So please…Just stop all this!”
“Deku what the hell,” Katsuki grumbled.
Toga hesitated with a surprised blink at Izuku, before leaping off the ledge and into the night, just out of reach of the guards. A couple of them, no doubt with apt Quirks for the task, pursued, jumping out the open window after her.
“D-Dammit, you guys could have grabbed her,” Katsuki spat, hands held against his stomach. He had healed quite well so far, considering the damage he’d taken, but a direct attack, no matter how weak, was more than a little concerning. He was still seeing stars pop in his vision.
“Kacchan, I’m so sorry, are you okay?!” Izuku cried desperately from his bed, cranking his neck as high as he could to see Katsuki huffing against the wall. The voices of the guards around them continued as the situation was assessed, but Izuku didn’t take any heed of them.
Two nurses rushed in as well, one to Izuku and one to Katsuki.
“Fuck it, Deku, I’m fine.” Katsuki growled, voice still cracking a bit from the sudden onslaught of pain. “I don’t need any damn help,” He said it even as he allowed the nurse to walk him to his bed.
Izuku’s gaze was locked on Katsuki as his own nurse applied pressure to his bleeding neck. Katsuki had lain back against his pillows and closed his eyes in a concentrated effort to ride out the pain. Izuku released the tension in his body only when the nurses examination concluded that Katsuki’s wounds would be fine, and no internal bleeding was present. His arm was promptly bandaged.
Reports were filed with the police and the Heroes closest to them, It was also decided, urgently, that they needed a more secure location to recover. They were moved to a room further in the hospital, in fact, one with thicker, heavily constructed walls and stronger security measures that was more often utilized as a room for lower-level villains to be safely treated for any injuries obtained from scuffles with Heroes before moving on to have their fates decided. Guards with Quirks and without were posted around their room this time, as further precaution.
A search was also initiated to find the poor nurse who had been used as her unwilling donor. The poor orderly who had raised the alarm and who was the man’s friend, was shaken up and under the care of the police, waiting on any news.
It felt strange to be carted into this new barricaded room, in a wing that looked like it transformed from a normal hospital to almost that of a sterile jail wing. But, considering everything that had happened in the last hour and the harrowing tales of villain activity from outside the walls, the two boys silently resigned themselves to the new, more depressing surroundings. This, unfortunately, was the next logical step if they were to hope to finish recovering safely.
Izuku laid back and stared at the ceiling, distantly observing that it was made of some sort of fortified composite material, contrast to the rather ordinary ceiling tiles from before.
It was almost morning but he’d not slept at all. Everything that had happened was whirring around in his head. Sometimes he would see shadows in the room and fear that it was Toga. Every once and a while, he grit his teeth from the throbbing ache of his neck.
“She won’t be back,” Katsuki muttered, just as restless in his own bed. “This place is on high alert. She’s a stealth type, not a powerhouse. And now she’s injured, too. Stop worrying and get some sleep.”
“She got both of our blood, though…That’s worry enough, isn’t it?” Izuku whispered, not wanting those outside to know that they were not asleep. Like some sort of twisted version of a sleepover that he never got to have with Katsuki. “What would she end up doing with it…?” Izuku pondered, trying to calculate the villainess’s next plan. As well as how it figured in to the escaped League, and All For One’s plan.
He had to guess–if not just hope– that his Quirk wouldn’t be accessible to her, just as it had acted like a dud when Monoma had tried to copy it. He would ask All Might what he thought in the morning.
Katsuki huffed.
“Stop trying to figure everything out at once. You’re gonna give yourself a migraine. Or a damn panic attack.” He told Izuku gruffly. Red eyes slid to look at Izuku, his pensive face scrunched in a pout as it often was while Izuku was deep in thought. “Hey. What the heck were you yelling at her about back there?”
Izuku snapped out of his own thoughts and turned to meet Katsuki’s impatient gaze.
“Oh? Oh. That.” Izuku sighed. “She…asked me if I thought she deserved to die. If her friends deserved to die.” Izuku’s face scrunched in thought. "Something was off. She was in tears about it. She seemed so broken.”
“Deku.” Katsuki pressed. “I know where this shit is going, you think she wants to be saved, but…” He hesitated, to measure his words, and met Izuku’s green gaze. “We can’t afford to pull our punches with these guys.”
“I know,” Izuku sighed softly, sinking into his pillow and green curls pushing over his cheeks. So much carnage he’d witnessed came to mind. “I’m not planning on letting anyone off the hook for what they’ve done, they’re criminals still, at the end of it all… But I can’t ignore the part of them that’s crying for help.”
“Tch. That’s what drives me insane about you.” Katsuki grumbled. But, he knew, that’s what also made him distinctly ‘Deku’. Crimson eyes, half lidded with exhaustion, traced over Deku’s outline in the dim light once more.
“Sorry, kacchan.” Izuku mumbled, sleep seeming to finally be coming for him. “I know you don’t like it, but…I can’t help…it.”
Katsuki watched until Izuku finally drifted off, and swallowed hard.
“Yeah…I know you can’t,” he sighed into the quiet of the morning.

Sometimes when its really slow at work I can let my brain just entertain itself and sometimes I get fanfic ideas out of it. *SHRUG* Hope you liked it!
Katsuki left for like five minutes to the vending machine down the hall and this is what he gets.
This is something I imagine falls after they initially wake up and have *THE TALK* that we’ve all been waiting for. I imagine him sticking to Izuku like glue, expressly for the purpose of guarding him while his arms recover.
Edit: Oops, one more note, She mentioned Mr. Compress dying because I think that she might be under that impression in the current time in the manga. He’d probably be treated under lock and key(maybe in the same specialized wing I wrote the boys into at the end?) but it wouldn’t be widely advertised to the public where Toga could hear about his survival. She might, however, know that he pulled a very dangerous sacrificial move, though.

My bad opinion: Monoma doesn't deserve the treatment he gets from the rest of UA. Aizawa legit choked him out and he doesn't even know the kid. Mirio calling him the dark side of UA is bad as well. Also why does everyone resort to hitting him when he's in a manic mood. I understand it's funny but I wish they showed class B being nice to him during his manic mood once. Also Kaminari calls him mentally ill everytime they meet and it pisses me off that people ignore that. 1/2

SO. Let me talk a little bit about this whole Monoma situation (And yeah, I already done this in other post, but I love writing rants, and you give me a perfect excuse. Thanks)
Bakugou
Im gonna start poiting out something that may seem out of the blue for some people who know me. I do NOT dislike Bakugou at all, hell, Im even a bakudeku shipper and their relationship, I think, is one of the few reasons I still feel draw to the story.
I feel like is natural that people cares more for Bakugou than for Monoma. For starters he is a main character, and for that reason he gets a lot more of screen time. Also he is good looking, and people tends to overlook bad characters developments when the characters in question are"hot"
NOW, HAVING ESTABLISHED THAT.
Yes, Bakugou has more screentime than Monoma. Is reasonable that Monoma is not the favorite. Now, why is that a issue?Because there are significant flaws on the story and in the development of characters.Yes, Bakugou is a main character that has more screentime, and yes, he does have emotional moments in the sotry that make you feel or him. And yet is not enough. And plase keep in mind that Im not here saying he deserves the worst of fates because he was a bully. I suffered from depression and anxiety all my life, and people on school bullyed me in horrible ways for that same reasons. And yet, I can tell that BNHA is a fictional piece of media. I can discern between reality and fiction.Probably because I’m a filmmaker who studied about this, but I learned that a review of a piece of art cant be done focusing in only one specific point, because if you do, you lose sight of the biggest picture. Yes he was bad, but what is the author trying to say here? How is the author writing the character development? I think Horikoshi does knows what future he wants for Bakugou, i do truly think that he wants this to be a big redemption arc, and put Bakugou and Deku side to side as the greatest heroes ever for the end of the story…. But…. Horikoshi struggles a lot with character development. A lot of people who likes Bakugou, excluding those who just like him for his looks, do it because they can see the potential and get the general idea.Which is great. but the character development, at this point of the story, is just not enough.Not enough to justify a lot of Bakugo current actions. Hell, even my bakudeku heart was disappointed with the movie because the structure of the story was weak and Bakugou arc went to nowhere. Instead of meaningful conversations or actions between characters (Wich there a few are ofc, I almost cried watching Deku vs Kacchan) , we have to assume the Bakugou aggressiveness is just endearing now. And that’s just not how this work.
I realy hope Horikoshi gets better at writng Bakugou develoment because I truly think he could be such a good character. Im rooting for him.
Now, how I connect this with Monoma?
Monoma
Monoma, just like Bakugou, can be a “problematic” character. (God hate to use that word) but the differences between the both of them are crystal clear.
1) Monoma is not a main character, so even if Bakugou is this aggressive and short tempered character, we still see the other side of him because, again, he has more screentime. With Monoma we cannot see the other side of him that often, which can be a problem when the only side you show of a character is such a pathetic and unfair side. In comparison, you would think Monoma is worse than Bakugou, but thats only because they are showing us only the worst side of Monoma. Wich bring me to the second point.
2) Monomas mental state is treated as joke. Just as I said that I don’t care about Bakugou being a debetable ex bully, I should say the same here and affirm that just because they make fun of his mental issues it shouldn’t affect me, even if I deal with depression and anxiety. Well kids, let me tell you something: You are wrong. Why you may ask? For a little concept called: Character development.With Bakugou, even if is FAR from perfect, does have more little moments here and there, where you can see the other side of him. Monoma isn’t that lucky. So you are showing just his crazy side and making fun of that. Which just simply bad and a little sad that you think that is a good character design. When you have a piece of media with this kind of success, you cant ignore this. You just can not. You need to take responsibility of what you put out there.And we are talking about Monoma, but we could also be talking about how they treated their token characters, how they treat those characters who are mentally unstable (cofcofTwiceforexamplecofcof). That is just another rant, but is bad. Realy bad.
BNHA has a really problem in justifying villainous actions just because class A or a Pros do them. And yes I’m talking about Mineta and Endeavor, but Im also talking about a lot of your Favs like Aizawa, or class A students.I understand that in japanese culture Monoma being loud and weird and just being legitimately crazy is funny. But some things you can’t justify. Just like you cant justify a lot of what happened in this story and how some characters are treated.
3) Monoma was supposed to be different.We all know about this, he was meant to be this cunning strategic individual who could actually be more interesting that the freaking main character, but because he dared to do look at Bakugou in the wrong way, the fans started hating him,so Horikoshi changed him… I just can’t . How could an author change his characters because of that reason? Sometimes you have to stand with your ideas man.
Anyway, I liked the JTs Monoma. And I hope Shinsou ends up in class 1B with him. THAT would be an interesting writing. But I learned to never expect anything. So… We’ll see

Katsuki Bakugo And Minoru Mineta Are Funny For All The Wrong Reasons
In this essay I will
No, but seriously, this is a problem. Spoilers and all that jazz. Let's start with the obvious.
Minoru Mineta
Minoru is the poster child for this topic. He's a complete scumbag, but is kept around because he's funny, when in reality he'd probably be expelled somewhere down the line.
While he does have some funny moments, there's only a small amount that don't come from his perversions, which is highly concerning.
His brand of humor isn't particularly inspired either. Let's go through some of his moments.
Hero Costumes
Minoru flashes his thumbs up when he looks at Ochako's uniform, stating that he loves the school. This is less funny and more unsettling, but it gets a pass 'cause Minoru is still relatively new to viewers.
USJ
Minoru grapples onto Tsuyu's breasts twice. He gets dunked on the first time. He gets nearly drowned the second time. We laugh... but it's not because Minoru is funny. Seriously, dark humor is one thing, but Minoru's actions are just plain creepy and borderline sexual harrassment. The fact that he nearly has to die to get us laughing doesn't help matters (he's scum, but scum should face long lasting consequences, not temporary bouts of comedic violence).
Changing Rooms
Almost forgot about this one. Minoru tries to peep on the girls. Kyoka notices and skewers his eye. We laugh. Not because Minoru's funny, but because we're suppose to enjoy his suffering. Imagine if everyone DIDN'T bash him upside the head! (There would probably be content apathy if there wasn't at least a small outcry for reprimands, to be honest.)
Obstacle Course
Minoru clasps onto Momo's gym uniform to pass the Obstacle Course, and he has a nosebleed. Momo calls him the worst. Again, relying on the fact that "Minoru sux" in order to get a laugh. That's sad.
Class Rankings
Mina says it best: guys like Minoru are only endearing when they're stupid, or something along those lines. If they're stupid, that lowkey implies that he has the potential to learn better. But Minoru already knows a lot, which os MORE unsettling than the alternative. Now, common sense doesn't equal intelligence, but the fact that Minoru is considered smart when he continually makes the stupid decision to try and get some in horrible ways is just... the worst.
Swimming Pool
Minoru and Denki collaborate on getting a view of the girls in swimsuits. (Before you bring it up, yes, Denki is also a perv character, but unlike Minoru, he actually has more going for his personality instead of just having a running gag joke define 90% of his character. And the most Denki's done on his own is attempting (and failing) to flirt with other girls.) Denki and Minoru are shocked when the rest of the boys show up, and Denki is disheartened to find that the girls are wearing school-issued swimsuits. Minoru, of course, finds the scene nice nonetheless. This is less of a "HAHA!" moment and more of a "*groan*" moment.
Hot Springs
Minoru tries to violate the girls' privacy just so he can see them naked. Luckily Kota is there to stop him. He swats Minoru off the wall, leading him to fall pathetically back to Earth. And we never speak of it again. You see a pattern with his stunts yet? Also, Tenya did not deserve what he got at the end of that scene.
Provisional License Exam
Granted, this is where Minoru is at his least perverted, but he still finds a way to be annoying. "The hierarchy is falling!" Oh gee, it's not like you had a tragic backstory and underwent actual character growth which helped you grow as a person, Minoru. You being smug is doing nothing to help your character.
Before The Interview
In the anime exclusive season premiere of Season 4, Minoru starts creepily talking about a potential female reporters breasts, before he gets restrained by Mr. Aizawa. While most of us thank him for stopping the pervert's actions, keep in mind that this is the one of the few times Mr. Aizawa ever tries to actually do anything to curb Minoru's behavior. Then again, since Horikoshi likes Minoru and Katsuki, they basically get immunity from Mr. Aizawa's actual character.
Joint Training Arc Aftermath
Sometime during the JTA, Minoru ricochets off of Mina's chest. Mina (rightfully) calls him out at this, and we're later treated to a scene with Minoru in a straightjacket with his eyes forced open while Mina keeps an eye on him. Physical punishment will do nothing to Minoru; at this rate he'll develop an immunity. What he needs are concrete consequences that will actually get him to think about not being perverted.
Izuocha Reaction
This moment is... admittedly tame. After Izuku and Ochako share a fist bump in Chapter 256, Minoru makes this weird gremlin face while asking himself what's going on. It's harmless at first... until you remember that Minoru is a shameless pervert who has a vain physical infatuation with most girls, Ochako inclued. Minoru's reaction is basically an entitled Lv. 1 gamer looking at an experienced Lv. 50 and going, "Why the hell isn't that me?"
Of course, there are other moments where Minoru is perverted, but it isn't funny, a la he hopes to see Eri again in 10 years or something like that. I've heard he's been mellowing out a bit more in recent chapters, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic for now. The fact that his main shtick is that we should despise him, and therefore laugh at his karma, is... kinda sad. That type of thing could work for a villain or a really unlikable character, but the fact that Minoru is a supporting character who we see progress with his classmates with very little growth in his character? What a waste... Moving on, then.
Katsuki Bakugo
Ah, King Explosion Murder. Most of you will know how I despise him. And unfortunately, part of the reason is similar to why I don't like Minoru:
His AnGeRy BoI tantrums get old really quick. Let me explain.
Catchphrases
"DIE!" "I'LL KILL YOU!" "EXTRA!" If you've been paying attention to Katsuki, he says these things s lot. He's been letting go of "extra" recently, but he'll still spew the first two comments without hesitation. He probably doesn't mean it literally, but that doesn't warrant his excessive aggression. It's one of the worst character traits I've seen in a while to be honest, and it's heavily concerning that a 15 (now 16) year-old has this kind of mindset. The fact that it's played for laughs ("DIE!" or "GO TO HELL!" while Izuku states deadpan off to the side) isn't any more assuring.
Gremlin Face
Katsuki will do this for a multitude of reasons. His base appearance treads a fine line between pretty boy and disgruntled madman, but when Katsuki gets more pissed then usual, he goes full gremlin. The faces are somewhat funny out of context, but they're kind of petty in context.
Bus Ride
The kids call out Katsuki on the bus ride to the USJ. This is basically a way to tell the readers that Katsuki isn't much of a big shot anymore, but the fact that it ultimately holds no water later down the line is... disappointing. Within several chapters, people will be flocking to him, regardless of his garbage personality.
Eijiro's Analysis
Eijiro brings up how Katsuki should be all "DIE! DIE! DIE!" while they're fighting villains, to which Katsuki ironically responds in kind. It's a "Bakugo sux LOL" moment, but the fact that this is how likely most students see him and they STILL flock to him is just... wut? Plus, Eijiro was originally skeptical of Katsuki after the Battle Trial, and his sudden support of Katsuki here is... half-heartedly executed. And while Katsuki has shown that he treasures the relationship he has with Eijiro to a degree, it's pretty clear that Eijiro holds it in a much higher regard.
Less Than The Best
Gremlin face returns when Katsuki gets 3rd (and therefore not 1st) in the Sports Festival's Obstacle Course. Katsuki screams when he gets 2nd (and therefore not 1st) in the Cavalry Battle. It's "funny" now, but I fear for the day when this guy has to regularly do interviews and doesn't get the Number One Hero spot for the first few months (if he ever gets it at all).
Sore Winner
This is probably the one joke I can say is the least funny. Everybody remembers the whole Katsuki in bindings and acting like an animal bit, right? Yeah, no one is sane in this universe... And even if Katsuki's desire to reject the first place medal is understandable, he isn't exactly cordial about the whole thing (I mean, I'd be miffed if someone had be bound like that, but I doubt more growling is gonna get him out... the teachers need help). And then we still see him with the medal in his mouth sometime later, and Gremlin face show up when the class is talking internships. Where's the therapist again?
Teeth
Katsuki telling the germs in his mouth to die as he's brushing his teeth. It's only funny because of the absurdity of the notion. In reality, telling microscopic organisms to straight up die in such a threatening manner is hella concerning. See "Catchphrases" for why I still don't think this is okay.
Knife
One of the more tame jokes. Katsuki's good with knives, Ochako brings it up, Katsuki is offended. Honestly, I'd prefer more of this type of humor compared to... whatever Katsuki's doing right now.
I'll Kill Him
It's an exam, Katsuki, AN EXAM! This moment during the Provisional License Exam is only funny for a moment, because when you think about it, the purple dude has a point (even if he's still a stuck-up elitist) and Katsuki would have failed if Eijiro and Denki didn't follow after him. Still, does he think he can get away with saying he'll kill villains in the actual Hero world? Good gravy...
Stop Being Nice
This is a trend we've seen post-Deku vs. Kacchan 2. Izuku complements Katsuki or makes a remark about him. Katsuki proceeds to tell him to back off in some or fashion. If it's his winter costume, Katsuki will chew the speech bubble. He'll reflexively tell Izuku to get out of his way. When Izuku mentions Katsuki's technique, Katsuki will tell Izuku to stay away from him. I know some of Izuku's habits are borderline-stalking, but he's not being overtly creepy. And in a narrative where Izuku and Katsuki are supposed to be "good friends," this does a poor job of showing it.
Ninja Star
Katsuki looses his temper when Izuku brings up Blackwhip, and throws one of his head pieces at Izuku like a ninja star. Izuku gets injured, but the entire thing is played off like a nice joke. Except it isn't. Izuku wasn't about to spill anything about OFA when he talked about Black Whip; Katsuki's just stupidly jealous and annoyed when anyone like Izuku talks for too long about their achievements. It's basically telling readers that Izuku's gonna get shoved around for having pride in himself. That sucks...
I Win
The latest incarnation of Gremlin face, and Katsuki's stupid winner's complex in general. I've already talked about it in this post, but Katsuki's assertions in Chapter 257 were highly immature and disrespectful. All Might tells the boys about the OFA users and their short lives, how they weren't chosen ones but were still entrusted with the Quirk, hoping to pass it on and hoping to beat AFO. What does Katsuki say about them? They had lame Quirks; they were a bunch of nobodies. He goes out of his way to tell Izuku he'll lag behind while mastering the next Quirk while Katsuki ensures his victory. All if that "character development" and he still pulls stuff like this. How do I put this?
A few steps forward followed by long periods of regression is not character development, that's bad writing.
Katsuki's seemingly humorous outbursts would be terrifying in the real world. He's got serious issues and he needs help. His anger is no laughing matter. It'll hurt him, or rather, continue to hurt him. It's already hurt other people, and continues to do so.
TL;DR Katsuki and Minoru's one note humor is damaging to the narrative and to their characters, and unless it's properly addressed, it will continue to do so. Thank you for your time.

why i liked bnha chapter 266 & 267
As much as these last few chapters have broken our hearts, I have few opinions on them and the series as a whole .
Note: I’m probably pulling all of this out of my ass, and if I piss someone off i’m sorry. I’ll try to make another post that explains this better and has exact screenshots from the manga.
The latest arc of bnha has given us more insight into the league of villains (LOV) and so forth. However, there was a quote that caught my attention. I believe it is after Twice levels up during the fight against the liberation army. He said something along the lines of using the power of friendship to overcome his issues. Now this got me thinking.
So far the villains narrative has played with idea of trust and friendship as the reader gets to see more of them. This is strange as we don’t usually get to see this in storiese because duh they’re villains. Despite that, bnha seems to have latched onto the idea.
Contrasting what we get to see of the heroes, more specifically Hawks, it shows how dark and twisted they can be, how their willing to destroy and even kill if it's for the ‘greater good’.
I believe that bnha wants to bend the way certain superhero tropes are used. For awhile now the LOV has been compared to a family by Twice. They are all there for each other because they share that feeling of being outcasted. Also, there is a part in the manga where all the villains have to go through development to become stronger. In a way, a lot of them, get over trauma and emotional barriers to be able to grow.
We’ve seen that “i have to get stronger” mentality with many shonen protagonists/heroes, Deku included. However, it is so interesting to see it used with the villains. I was rooting for them because the way the LOV developed was so familiar, and I think that’s what was intended. Let the audience sympathise with the villains by portraying their character development in a way we have seen countless times before, hence the power of friendship, found family and “i want to be the very best” mentality.
It’s common for authors to get their audience to sympathise with the bad guy, but I think bnha is doing it for different reasons. Other stories make us sympathise with the villain so that when the hero beats them we feel slightly sad. But the reason bnha has the readers sympathise with the villans is to antagonise the heroes. They make us realize that the LOV are humans too and have aspirations. Although they have done bad things and are bad people, from what we have seen, the heroes are the ones who are far more cruel. The way they’re “saving the day” is rather in-humane and hurt the villains, who we have learned to sympathise with.
This all ties back to Hawks and Twice’s relationship. We have learned to like the villains, and Hawks seems to have become one of them now. Twice believes that Hawks is his friend, and is someone who actually believes in their cause. Yet in the end Hawks betrays Twice along with the LOV. He ends up killing Twice and ripping apart this family dynamic we have gotten used to, and frankly love. We know that it is for the greater good, but it seems like such a cruel thing to do.
Another Note : This whole thing is how I interpreted the story, and you can probably tell that. The next part is all my opinion and doesn’t have exact quotes, but I think it’s easy to follow along.
At first Hawks tries to save Twice because he too considers him a friend, but Twice doesn’t want to be “saved” because he knows that the LOV is the only family he’s ever had. Hawks attempts to explain to him that there is no way he can he happy here, no way he can be “good”. After this, Twice has a breakdown about how every friend he’s tried to make, every ally, has always betrayed them. Hawks being the prime example, followed by Overhaul. Hawks comes to the painful realization that there is no way of leaving without a fight, even though he doesn’t want to. It’s an overall sad moment that is followed by twice’s internal monologue explaining why the LOV is his only home.
I interpreted it like this: Why go back to a society that never treated him well, and after this, would never forgive him? He rather die scum, then betray the only people who have made him feel sane.
...
I don’t really have much of a conclusion, but these are a few of my tangled thoughts put together. I know much of this won’t really make sense but I tried. I’ll most likely make another post with better “evidence” or screenshots from the manga. I’m new to this whole analysing thing so bare with me.

BNHA Rewatch: Episode 46 “From Iida to Midoriya”

In which I rant a lot about Iida and then instantly forgive him.
Mina trying to piece all this together is so cute.
Iida’s rage in this episode kinda tics me off, mostly because I feel like he misses the difference between what he did and what Todoroki and Kiri and Deku want to do. Iida went after Stain to get revenge, and Stain specifically chastised him for failing to try and rescue Native. What these three want to do is try and save a life, not take one. Yes, the law in BNHA’s verse doesn’t distinguish - but there is a difference. This makes it feel like Iida took the wrong lesson from the Hero-Killer arc - that what he did wrong was breaking the law, not getting caught up in revenge.
Yes, yes, that black and white mentality is fun and all, Tsu, but to quote a certain famous person, “An unjust law is no law at all”. And this situation just isn’t as black and white or straightforward as she makes it out to be. Both Iida and Tsu pissed me off in this scene a bunch, because they just don’t seem to get it. Of course, that could just be because I agree with Deku and back him in everything he does.
“You’re probably the most frustrated of all” WOW even Kirishima sees how in love with Kacchan Deku is.
OHNO MY BB IS SO WRECKED AND HURT CAUSE HE’S ALWAYS HURTING HIMSELF WITH HIS POWERS. Deku why you gotta make me sad like this?
And Kota’s letter omg it’s so sweet Kota ilu
Poor freaking Inko her life is so hard now and Deku is so hurting Aw this arc is so many feels.
Momo, of course, has the power in her hands to decide if she wants to enable this, and she chooses to do so.
Even against all that persuasion to the contrary, Deku still comes to help. I LOVE HIM.
Iida, this is the only time in the series that you really piss me off, and I ultimately forgive you, so I hope you wont’ take this personally, but...
FUCK YOU MAN. Seriously, Deku is half dead and devastated and hurting, and you’re hitting him like this only to assuage your own feelings and resentment? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?
YOU’RE GIVING TODOROKI ENDEAVOR FLASHBACKS YOU JACKASS HOW DARE YOU!?!?! LOOK AT HOW SAD YOU’RE MAKING HIM BY HITTING HIS CRUSH!
OH BOO HOO HE DIDN’T THINK OF YOUR FEELINGS WELL TOUGH LUCK BUDDY HIS BOYFRIEND GOT FUCKING KIDNAPPED BY SUPERVILLAINS HE DOESN’T HAVE TIME TO CONSIDER MUCH ELSE!!!
OK Momo assuages my annoyance by saying “I trust Todoroki” and reminding me how much I ship them. AW! She comes along because she believes in him, even if she isn’t certain what they’re doing is right.
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE
Ooh Bakugo please remind me of how much I wanna see you saved again.
This is another awesome squad in the show. Like, this team + Kacchan is basically unstoppable.
ooh More Momo concern I love her so much and don’t kid yourself Momo deep down you wanna help save the day too cause you’re a goddamn hero.
Ooh this scene with Uraraka is really, really interesting. We get so little of her stance on this whole thing, but we do know that 1. In this scene she gets Bakugo pretty well, though she does ultimately turn out to be wrong, as he allows himself too be saved. 2. She doesn’t bring this up in front of Deku, which means this subject could provide conflict between them in the future.
Todoroki wisely stocks up on food before partaking in a long rescue exercise.
DEKU IS SO ADORABLE I LOVE HIM
AH THE HILARIOUS DISGUISES OMG. I’M CRACKING UP
The Todomomo vibes are strong with this one.
DAYUM Aizawa is always hot but all slicked up and presentable and defensive of his kids Aizawa is the best and hottest Aizawa of them all.

OK, in all seriousness, I FREAKING LOVE THIS SCENE. Deku is my favorite, but Bakugou does run him a close second, and this scene helps illustrate why. He just told the most dangerous set of characters around that he doesn’t care what they think of him. He’s a goddamn hero and he’s never gonna accept anything else.
“From Iida to Midoriya” is actually a personal favorite of mine. I think it’s a little underrated, usually seen as the calm before the storm of the Hideout Raid arc, the setup. I personally see it as a strong highlight, with some great character interactions, development and growth to boot. It’s adorable all the way through and definitely worth a rewatch, as angry as parts of it make me.
BKDK CORNER:
Think about it. His arms will be useless if he hurts them again. His mom begs him not to. His best friends all told him not to. But none of that matters. Because Kacchan is in danger. And at the end of the day, to save Kacchan, Deku’s body will move before he can even think.
He does, however, change his approach to him a little thanks to Uraraka’s words. This episode builds up to the “take my hand” scene well, as Deku realizes that Kacchan’s pride would be offended by him offering to save him. The moment where he remembers “Don’t come” really hurts my heart.
BEST GIRL MVP AWARD: Still Momo. Tsuyu and Ochako forfeited the chance to be in this arc so they’re officially out of the running until the pLE arc begins.
RANKER: The Disguises, least to most favorite
5. Iida’s - what the hell was he thinking with that fake stache? (Sorry I’m so mean to you in this recap, Iida)
4. Momo’s - it’s ok enough, but she looks like a mob wife.
3. Kiri’s - it’s cute ,and I wish he’d wear his hair down more often.
2. Deku’s - OMG someone is missing his bf and trying to imitate him, huh?
1. Shoto’s - it’s just plain sexy. Boy’s got style.

What Are My Ships 2.0
So, a while ago I did a post on my then viewpoints and opinions of ships within the BnHA/MHA fandom, and needless to say my opinions have changed since then, so this is sort of an update to the last time I did a post of this nature. Like last time, I’ll be going from my OTPs to my Favorites, Likes, BrOTPs, and then my NOTPs. However, whereas before I was mostly talking about the ships I liked, I want to expand this one to give an honest opinion on all of the ships, or at least the popular ones. Also, if I say I don’t like your ship, that doesn’t mean I don’t like you or your fellow shippers. I just don’t like the idea of those two characters together. Frankly, I wouldn’t even really say I’m an “Anti” to any ships except anything involving an adult and an under-aged character, and anything involving Mineta because fuck Mineta.
OTPs
So before I get into this one, I want to clarify the meaning of OTP as I use it. When I say my OTP, it means one of two things: Either A) This is the only person I ship with this character, and I don’t care for them being with anyone else, or B) I do like them in other ships, but nowhere near the level of this particular ship. I usually ship in accordance to the canon of the work. I look for evidence in the text itself, and I build my appreciation for relationships based on the evidence provided. Though I’m just as capable of crack shipping as anyone else, I tend to prefer the ships with a lot of canon content. Furthermore, my OTPs are usually a pairing that as far as the text itself is concerned, they don’t really seem to have any other legitimate love interest. Bakugo for example only really has shipping fodder with Kirishima. Bakudeku is more of a rivalry, and Kacchako is really stretching for something that isn’t there. Bakugo shows absolutely no interest in the girls of his class, and Bakudeku is so abusive and toxic that it’s firmly off my radar. So, since Bakugo doesn’t really like anyone other than Kirishima, as far as I’m concerned, Bakugo only has one actual love interest. The same could be said for Kirishima. The only characters other than Bakugo he has canon reasons to be shipped with are Tetsutetsu and Ashido. However, Tetsutestsu is very clearly being shipped with Kendo, and although Ashido and Kirishima are old friends, Ashido isn’t around for Kirishima’s emotional growth moments. Kiri isn’t thinking about Ashido when he reassures himself of his worth. Kiri isn’t making excuses to be around Ashido. Kirishima has little to no romantic dynamics with Ashido, they’re just two kids who went to the same middle school. So, like with Bakugo, I don’t really consider Kirishima to have any other truly viable love interests. And sure, I was using my main OTP as an example, but I apply this same logic to most ships, except for crack ships.
KIRIBAKU//BAKUSHIMA
So I just explained why I don’t ship them with other characters. But bashing other ships is not an argument, it’s just hating on other pairings. So rather than just gushing about my feelings about Kiribaku, it’s better to explain why I ship them. Kirishima and Bakugo have equal and opposite character flaws. Kirishima is a friendly character that lacks self-confidence. Bakugo is an overly confident character that isn’t very friendly. The appeal of Kiribaku is that they both grow from this relationship, which is like writing 101 when writing a good romance. The couple need to both get something out of the relationship. Kirishima is friendly enough to get Bakugo to warm up and be more of a team player, but Kirishima also has enough of a backbone to call Bakugo out when he’s being an asshole. He’s able to appreciate Bakugo for the person that he is, but he won’t allow Bakugo to mistreat him. He forces Bakugo to recognize him as an equal, and Bakugo responds by addressing him by his name. Something which is very clearly a sign of respect, as he also does this on one occasion with Uraraka during the tournament arc. Kirishima’s friendliness and determination to be close to Bakugo earned Bakugo’s trust and respect, and he rewarded Kirishima’s determination by treating him way better than he treats anyone else. Kirishima on the other hand is a character who is deeply insecure. Dying his hair red, spiking it up the way that he does, modeling himself after heroes he idolizes, Kirishima’s character is clearly someone who doesn’t have a lot of confidence or self-esteem, thus why he models his behavior after others who he views as role models. Where Kirishima would doubt himself, Bakugo is self-assured enough to put Kirishima’s mind at ease. And speaking from experience, Bakugo’s method works. Like Kirishima, I too have struggled with insecurities, and Bakugo’s ‘fuck what everybody else thinks, do it cuz you like it’ methodology actually helped me get over my own worries and doubts. I actually was able to get over my fears of self-doubt because of the things Bakugo has said. And I’m a stronger person for it, just like Kirishima.
MIRITAMA
If you’ve been following my page for a while now, you may already know that I love me the relationship dynamic I tend to refer to as Sunshine and Stormcloud. That is to say, when a happy optimistic and friendly person dates a grumpy, sad, or otherwise “dark” character. Unlike Kiribaku, these two don’t really have to fight off other suitors. If either of them is shipped with Nejire, Mirio with Midoriya, or Tamaki with Kirishima, these ships are all small fries compared to this ship. So small that they really don’t pose any threat. These two have a great dynamic, and both motivate the other to succeed. This is also just a super cute healthy supportive couple. Mirio has never once said anything about Tamaki’s anxiety. He just accepts that it’s part of him, and I would not be surprised if Mirio has helped Tamaki through panic attacks in the past. This pairing is just so wholesome and cute, I love it.
HAWKSDEAVOR
Okay, yes. Endeavor is a total trash mammal abusive dickbutt. But guess what? So was Bakugo, and now he’s won 3 popularity polls in a row. I sort of view this ship as the adult version of Kiribaku. Especially since Horikoshi has drawn some not so subtle parallels between Endeavor and Bakugo. And the overall relationship dynamics are similar. An overly-confident and proud asshole learns to care about other people through meeting and befriending a happy-go-lucky and friendlier young man who earns his respect. Now, I’m sure there are people who don’t think Endeavor deserves redemption, but I for one have always been a supporter of the “Love redeems” trope when done right. And Hawksdeavor is doing it right. Because although Endeavor has a past of abuse and general assholery, that abuse was never targeted at Hawks. This is not an abuse victim falling in love with their abuser. It is a neutral third party helping to rehabilitate an abusive asshole into a hero deserving of the title. It’s also worth confessing that I have not been a victim of abuse, so I might have an easier time forgiving Endeavor and wanting him to grow and change than someone who has been hurt by a parent or anyone else in the way Endeavor abused Shoto. And I want to make it clear, I like the ship. That doesn’t mean Endeavor is anywhere near done repenting and groveling for Shoto’s forgiveness because child abuse is a serious issue, and Endeavor does need to work for his redemption. But, I am at least willing to humor his attempts and give him the benefit of the doubt to at least let him try and repair the damage that he’s caused his family, because he’s at least putting in the effort to be better, and that’s worth at least something to me.
INATODO
I like Tododeku. I do. But I love the weird ass dynamic between these two. Plus it’s an interesting yin-yang personality difference you don’t see a lot. The monotone emotionally distant partner and the constantly screaming overly passionate partner. It’s a bit goofy, but I like it. Their quirks can also fight against each other or work together for something much stronger, which I think is a great metaphor for a couple learning to work together and being stronger as a unit.
DAVE MIGHT
Okay, full disclosure, I haven’t actually seen the BnHA movie. But it’s cute as hell, and I ship it. Sadly, I don’t have much to say, since I don’t know much about their dynamic, but anything that gives the story more gay is good in my eyes.
TETSUKENDO
Yes, I have straight ship. But in all seriousness, this one is only an honorable mention OTP, not because I ship it with much enthusiasm. It just doesn’t really have any other viable competition for either member, which qualifies it as an OTP.
FAVORITES
TODODEKU
I know full well that Deku probably won’t end up with Todoroki. Despite him and Uraraka having about as much chemistry as a soggy slice of pizza, it’s pretty clear that Izuchako is the canonically viable ship. Too bad they’re boring, bland, and completely unremarkable as far as romances go. They’re cookie-cutter standard, vanilla-flavored, and and just generic. A big part of that of course is Uraraka’s complete lack of defining character traits, more on that here. At least with Todoroki, there’s more going on in their relationship. They have a more interesting dynamic for starters. On top of that, Todoroki is a three dimensional person with a fully realized personality, wants, hopes, dreams, fears, flaws, and backstory. And Uraraka is... cute. And Nice. And... nice. To quote a show from my childhood, I could stand in a puddle of Uraraka and not get my feet wet, that’s how shallow her character is. Which means that Todoroki is not only more interesting, but due to being his own character, he offers contrasting or complimentary viewpoints, life experiences, ideologies, and character traits to clash or mix with Deku’s to create a more rich and interesting narrative. The girl doesn’t even have interests. When a character is so hollow that you can’t even name more than two character traits before you start having to use synonyms, you’re not exactly creating the next Prince Zuko. And sure, I was nicer to Izuchako in my first post, but I also hadn’t yet realized how completely shallow and flat Uraraka was as a character. So yeah, Tododeku is a major step up in my own opinion.
KAMISERO
I wasn’t always the biggest fan of this ship. When the show started, I didn’t really see it. Truth be told, I still don’t really see textual evidence to support this ship, but damn if it isn’t cute. I’ll be the first to admit this is a ship I started shipping because I saw shipping fanart and thought it looked cute. I like the best friends to boyfriends idea that comes with them, and I think they’re cute together. Plus their hero costumes totally go together.
KAMIJIRO
Yes, another straight ship. See I do have them every once in a while. I can’t really say much about this ship compared to last time. I think it’s cute. Kami makes Jiro laugh. They’re in a band together. And they both strike me as laid-back types. Like they could just hang and that’d be enough for them. Like there’s a reason Jiro’s considered an honorary Bakusquad member. She’s really chill and down-to-earth, which seems like a good fit for this sparky doofus.
SHINKAMI
A lot of fans refer to them as Erasermic 2.0 and I’d say sure, with the exception that Kaminari isn’t as annoying as Present Mic. For the most part, I like their dynamic. It’s cute, and I could see it building up to something interesting. Perhaps what’s more curious is the fact that ShinDeku basically fell off the face of hte earth once this ship came around. Because I see way fewer things of Shinso x Deku than I do Shinso x Kami, so something that popular is probably popular for a good reason.
LIKES
TODOMOMO
I’m honestly only including this cuz it’s a popular ship, and apparently probably where the canon ships are heading. Too bad I didn’t even realize they were being shipped together until I literally saw a promotional thing with them together that said that this was apparently one of the biggest ships in the fandom and I didn’t get the memo, cuz I had no idea these two were a thing in fanon or canon at all. At literally no point have I ever seen anything even resembling intimacy or even genuine affection between the two. They work well together, and they’re good teammates, but as a romantic pairing they came completely out of left field. If you ship them, well good for you, but I don’t really see why. Well at least it’s not abusive or toxic and it doesn’t involve Mineta so you do you.
MOMOJIRO
I won’t lie, as a gay man, lesbian ships tend to go right past my radar. The only times I’ve ever gotten really invested in shipping lesbian characters was when there was heavy canon backing to support the ships. But without canon support, I don’t really go looking for it. And frankly, I don’t see it with this or any lesbian pairing in this series. There’s no romantic spark as far as I can see. But I guess at least within fanon, I see this ship a lot and it’s fine. It works. Lesbians deserve representation too, so I get it. People look for themselves in media. I don’t judge on that front. I mean, a big part of my disinterest is that the girls are secondary characters. I think Hagakure gets two lines per arc. But for me personally, I’m just not really invested in the lesbian ships of this series. But of the lesbian pairings that are even a little bit viable, Momojiro i guess is at the top. MomoKendo is the only pairing I’ve come close to actually shipping, but it’s pretty clear who Kendo is going to end up with.
HATSUMIIDA
I like Hatsume. I think she’s a fun character. I wish they’d use her more because she actually has a personality. And it’s actually enjoyable to be around. But these two are basically just a couple because Iida has gone from Deku’s best friend to background student ever since the stain arc ended. Honestly, this ship is more of a comedic duo. the Comically Serious with the Comically Wacky. And it’s fine.
TSUKOYAMI
Bascially the same thing I said last time. They’re cute, they’re two smart cookies, and they work well together. They haven’t really done anything new together in a while, so it’s a pretty dormant ship right now.
ERASERMIC
The ship is fine, I just don’t particularly like it. It works, but it’s not really something I actively ship. Mostly I just don’t like Present Mic, I think he’s annoying and his tiny mustache is unattractive. I don’t really have a problem with this ship. I don’t particularly care for it either. It exists. I’m okay with its existence.
IZUCHAKO
Okay, I know I bashed this ship pretty hard in my discussion of Tododeku but that doens’t mean i hate it. It means I’m frustrated with it. It has the potential to be good, but it settles for bland mediocrity. There’s nothing here in this boy meets girl will they won’t they main boy must date main girl cishet ship that hasn’t been done to death by a thousand other shows. It’s boring. And yeah, most of that fault lies with Uraraka not being a real person. And before Izuchako shippers get all defensive, honestly answer me this: Name one of Uraraka’s hobbies. Tell me something about her. Give me any indication that she has any character trait other than sweet, nice, or friendly. Sure okay, she can get competitive, but she gets that way. As in, it’s not an inherent trait. It has to be turned on. And okay, she’s selfless enough to want an easier life for her parents. The problem with Uraraka is that she’s forced to remain this perfect porcelain figure. And a lot of my problems with this ship could be fixed by fixing my problems with Uraraka. Make her a real character. Give her a story arc. Give her interests and hobbies, superstitions, quirky behaviors. Anything. Just don’t treat her like a trophy to be handed to Deku when he saves the day. Believe me, I want this ship to be better. Because this is the flagship couple of the series. So they should be better written. But they aren’t and that’s upsetting.
BrOTPs
BAKUJIRO
Let me tell you, as a huge fan of this BrOTP, it was SO vindicating to see them working so well together during the drill against class 1-B. I genuinely believe that after Kirishima (and possibly now Kaminari) that Jiro probably has the best chance of being called Bakugo’s best friend, and I love that. These two feel like they’d just get along due to their punk/emo/goth vibe, and shared aloofness. I feel like Jiro is good enough at keeping her cool that she is one of the few characters who could just stonewall Bakugo’s angry yelling and just reply with a sarcastic quip about him throwing a tantrum without even looking up from her phone. They just seem like they’d get along once Bakugo starts to respect her more, and I look forward to that day.
NOTPs
My opinions on my NOTPS really haven’t changed, so I’m honestly just going to copy and past them. If you’ve read them before, then it’s unnecessary extra reading, and if you haven’t, then it can still look like a fresh opinion.
KACCHAKO
This ship straddles the line for me, as I do like this pairing, but only as a Friend!Ship. I like the idea of Bakugou sort of bringing Uraraka’s more competitive nature to the surface, and the two becoming sparring partners. It’s just the romantic angle I’m less keen on. The main contention I see for this pairing as a romantic couple is that Bakugou didn’t hold back against Uraraka during the Tournament Arc, but I personally prefer to look at it as a great parallel to the battle between Neji and Hinata Hyuga during the Chunin Exams in Naruto, an anime which was a major influence for Horikoshi. In both fights, a genius and prodigy who stood as an elite among the young recruits was set to fight the primary love interest who was significantly weaker than him. In both fights, both Neji and Bakugou completely refused to hold back and wiped the floor with their opponent. The main difference came in how the fights ended. When Neji moved in for the attack as Hinata was defeated, multiple supervising teachers had to restrain him from killing her while she was barely able to remain standing. Comparatively, the instant Bakugou noticed that Uraraka was collapsing in defeat, he stopped his attack. Heck, part of me even expected Bakugou to retrieve her tournament jacket and give it back to her, but I suppose that would have been a little out of character. My point with this story is that Bakugou had the mindset of a true feminist. He didn’t show mercy because she was at a lower skill level or because she was a girl. He fought her as if she was a legitimately threatening villain, and when the threat was neutralized, he no longer needed to keep fighting. I choose to read this as a recognition of her as a hero in training and even the building block upon which to build further respect between them. So, I can understand why people might ship this pairing, especially since Bakugou doesn’t really have anything even resembling shipping fodder with any other female character, as he doesn’t really tend to talk directly to the girls in his class. Still, for me, I think these two are much better off as friends who push each other to improve, but if this ship is your jam, I don’t see anything too problematic with it.
BAKUDEKU
This is probably the only ship I’d come close to calling myself an Anti for, but in truth, I don’t have a problem with people who ship these two, I just find it too problematic for me to really have any kind of favor for it. My problem with Bakudeku is that it’s mutually toxic. Midoriya shows very clear signs of abuse, whether it be verbal, physical, or mental, as he flinches at the sound of Bakugou’s voice, and immediately backtracks when talking to Kacchan in an attempt to stop him from getting angry enough to provoke an attack. However, Midoriya is just as bad for Bakugou, as it has been said numerous times that Bakugou’s pride is the direct result of endless praise and affirmation as a child from teachers and peers. Midoriya is a contributor to this problem, as even now, he continues to remark on how amazing Bakugou is, thus feeding his pride and inflating his ego. While it is possible for these two to grow past their rivalry and even enter something of a friendship, I don’t like the idea of such a toxic, abusive, and cruel dynamic taking any sort of romantic shape, as it would be damaging to both boys. Granted, some people enjoy darker pairings and others enjoy it for the idea of the redemption and reconciliation, but this pairing simply is not for me. If you do like this pairing, good for you. I am by no means trying to sway people’s opinions to resemble mine. I am by no means saying you can’t like this ship or that you shouldn’t, I’m just explaining why I do not.

Who did I vote for 'n why? -
Hawks! ..surprisingly. I knew Katsuki would make 1st place anyway (which is what I wanted) but I also wanted hawks to get on the list.
If I'd vote now I'd probably be Shiggy
Why are the results so different this year? -
• My first suspicion was that a lot of new fans started voting ...but it turns out there are actually fewer votes in the top ten this year !
• Maybe people know their actual favorites better by now, so they don't just choose who they liked best in the new season but overall.
• Maybe some charas got hyped or talked about more in events etc. In japan than here.
• I can't say for sure but it's so strange to me. Before this poll there weren't any drastic changes in the polls and most of the votes were comprehensible.
What happened to Hawks and Endeavor? -
• Hawks
↳ The last popularity roll was after he was first introduced . He immediately went on 4th place. I cannot explain to myself how he isn't in the top ten at all now. This is so damn weird .
It's not like he doesn't have fans fangirls he's extremely popular . I was already confused why he isn't getting any official merch by now but now I'm just ｂａｍｂｏｏｚｌｅｄ
• Endeavor
↳ He has been around since the first poll and was never on any spot in the list (1-20) but then in the 4th poll he went to nr.8 . Now he's gone again.
↳ I think this is because of his redemption arc it seemed like he was bettering himself but it became more and more clear that it's not really doing anything w his family.
↳ Another reason might be that we don't have as many interactions of him with Hawks as before ??

Why ?
↳ In my opinion there are lots of justifiable reasons for him to win and keep winning.
• Personality , character development , entertainment , looks , fangirls , waterfalls
•he is kind of an 'outcast' under the students and heroes . Which is also the reason shigaraki thought he'd be easy to 'convert to the dark side' . What i think is the important point in this is that he doesn't do that. His determination to his goal is what is so inspiring in my opinion.
•He's never afraid to say what he thinks and wouldn't lie either. Brutal honesty is entertaining to watch and sometimes you just want someone to say what you would be afraid to.
I'm sure even if you don't like him you've heard all the reasons why he's likable already, so I'm gonna move on now - If you want me to discuss why , how and what makes him so likable/popular tell me in an ask or the comments!!
Does he deserve it?

I understand why some fans don't like him but seeing people get mad about a poll like this is straight up ridiculous. You don't like the chara that's popular? - then vote for your fav to be able to compete . • I would say because this isn't a right or wrong thing yes of course he does. Whoever wins does , because it's not about the characters actions being morally superior but his likability and connection he has with the fandom/audience.

2. Midoriya Izuku 🐰 緑谷 出 久.
I was actually surprised that he got on top of Shouto //no pun intended(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)// They did have more tight votes than the others .
• It isn't too wild for him to be in second place the more I think about it.
↳ He too has matured and had some major character development taking place from ch.1 to now. The major complaint from ppl who didn't like him was that he's a 'crybaby'. He doesn't cry as often now and if he does it's almost always understandable . His attitude and self-esteem has also gone up quite a bit compared to the first chapters .
He kept all the good stuff in his personality and improved on the 'annoying' stuff . ( I personally never thought he was ¯(°_o)/¯ )
• All around he has a good heart , is more likable than most protagonists , is always working on improving himself , soft boy with the goal to save people. A genuine, non-superficial , real hero at heart.
3. Todoroki Shouto ❄🔥 轟 焦凍
We all knew he was gonna be in the top 3
with all the fangirls he's got ... Mh but let's just say even the people that don't love him usually like him. I don't think I've heard a person shit talk Shouto . 🤔
• I personally didn't really pay attention to him until the U.A. Sports Festival Arc! - I know shocking .
In all the arcs after that I kept liking him more and more. I would even say he's one of my favorite characters at this point.
• There are again loads of reasons to like him. We are watching his personal journey into human/social interaction and a normal life outside his toxic household with him. There is genuine tragedy in his story that he himself didn't understand . God damn remember when he said that it was also his fault his mom is gone. We really want to support and help him, but he isn't just a sad story. We see him succeed. We see how strong of a person he is .
There's a lot more I could say about him as well but you get the point.
• oh yeah.. He's also incredibly attractive.

I absolutely love the way Horikoshi Sensei chooses specific themes for these. They're always something to look forward to and are a big part of what makes the popularity polls so exciting!
The designs are so creative and cool . I love that their placement numbers are discreetly incorporated into their suits - the only nitpick I could find is that the villains almost got no changes which is kind of sad in my opinion !

My lord if you would hold me at gunpoint and ask which I like more out of these two I'd probably get shot . They're so awesome! (I'm sorry this is just me geeking out at this point) I keep trying to type why they're so cool but I just keep writing “they're just so cool” over and over again.
2. Todoroki
One thing I never liked about his normal hero suit is that it's just very blank. It makes total sense with his personality and the hero suit of his father being so different, which is why it works but just looking at it gives me the desire for more!

BnHA Chapter 270: Harry Potter Rules
Previously on BnHA: Present Mic punched Ujiko in the face! It was awesome. I’m thinking about getting a tattoo of it. Meanwhile Endeavor saved Mirko’s life by setting her on fire (reason #15 why I will never become a superhero), and Aizawa did some sexy Spider-Man poses for our viewing pleasure while fighting the rest of these Noumus which are still annoyingly refusing to die. Anyway but back to Present Mic, the undisputed MVP of this chapter. Because you see, in addition to the punching, he also used his Loud Voice attack (literally the actual attack name; Horikoshi will steal all of my jokes and leave me with nothing) to smash open Tomura’s Noumutank! Which I really thought was going to immediately lead to Everyone Dying, but apparently I was wrong! Anyways so yeah, right now Tomura’s just lying down all heart-stopped and not-breathing. Which seems very anticlimactic, BUT I JUST HAVE THE CRAZIEST FEELING that maybe, just maybe, the super powerful villain lad who just spent the last three arcs slowly upgrading his bad self just in time to wage war on the world as the story reaches its climax, might not actually be dead though.
Today on BnHA: DON’T MIND THAT OMINOUS ORGAN MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND, IT’S NOTHING, IGNORE IT. Ahem. So first of all, as some of the bolder among us dared to speculate, Tomura is not, in fact, dead. He’s still very much kicking it with his nipple-less pecs and truffula tree hair, putzing around in his mental landscape filled with crumbled buildings and disembodied Theatrical Gesture Hands. For some reason he doesn’t have shoes or a shirt in his mental landscape, which was a very interesting choice on Horikoshi’s part, but we will speak no more of it. Anyway so to sum things up, Tomura’s family is all “TENKO WE LOVE YOU” and he’s all “oh hey” and then AFO fucking appears and he’s all “COME HERE MY BOY” which is exactly as creepy as you would expect, and for some fucking reason TOMURA ACTUALLY DOES COME HERE. And lol it turns out Ujiko gave him AFO. Like the quirk. Yes, that quirk. So long story short, Tomura is about to be possessed by AFO’s evil soul or some shit, and to put the cherry on top, fucking Deku out of fucking nowhere, MILES AWAY, is all “HE’S COMING.” Because of course he can sense it, because AFOFA IS REAL, AND FUCK ME THIS IS ALL HAPPENING TOO FAST, FUCK.
I know this chapter has been out since like 1pm, but I’m not getting to read it until 5 hours later because for once in my life I was trying to be responsible and actually get some work done on a Friday. I thought this might lead to less oh-god-I-still-have-to-get-that-done anxiety hovering over my weekend, but instead it just led to oh-god-I-have-to-get-the-chapter-recap-done anxiety hovering over my now! anyways so this might be a bit rushed lol

just ignore the increasingly panicked look in Mic’s eye as he slowly realizes he was way too fucking keen to just leave the “dead” Tomura back there with his laser-eyed hero buddy. anyway so let’s continue learning all about the Quirk Illuminati or whatever the fuck

okay but this is actually a pretty big revelation though, isn’t it? because it’s been hinted for a while now that AFO and Ujiko had some method of duplicating quirks (the fact that all the Noumu share the same regeneration quirk was the biggest clue, but there was also John-chan’s quirk, as well as Hood’s Muscular-esque quirk), but as far as I can recall, this is the first time we’ve had it confirmed. though to be fair I wasn’t joking when I said my memory really has been shit lately sob
anyway so for real though, can you really call it a BnHA chapter if you’re not spending a good chunk of it being hopelessly confused over the ownership of some ambiguous thought bubbles. WHO IS THIS. I do seriously feel like it’s Tomura, because he’s the wrathful one, but another hallmark of a typical BnHA chapter is me constantly questioning everything I know as I muddle my way through

those first four pages really did nothing to brace me at all lol
okay, so. here’s my understanding of all this, I guess. basically we’re going full Harry Potter rules here. AFO horcruxed his quirk, and from the looks of it, a piece of his soul (perhaps even the main piece) along with it. he then passed it on to Ujiko to implant into Tomura
horcrux!AFO then wakes up, and takes over Tomura. so then my understanding is that he’s going to be possessed by him. and I also got the impression that he’s fully aware of that, but just doesn’t care at this point. he knew his family was trying to warn him, but he didn’t care. and that look in his eyes when he disintegrated them just seemed so fucking resigned to me, though. jesus
but now the more interesting thing! so we can liken Tomura to the resurrected Voldemort from book 5 and onward, reborn after transferring his power into a new vessel. which would go a long way toward explaining how AFO was able to sense what was happening from all the way in Tartarus; because if we liken it to Voldemort and his horcruxes, it would mean that he still has a connection to them (similar to the connection between Voldemort’s mind and Harry’s)
but so now comes the really interesting thing -- what does this then imply about the connection between AFO and Deku? because you’ll recall that AFO alluded to a similar mental connection back when Deku first activated SIXQUIRKS. and now we have Deku somehow being magically aware of AFO’s sudden resurgent presence in this chapter. but why?? if the reason AFO and Tomura share a psychic link is because of a shared quirk, why would Deku also be experiencing the same link? the answer is, he wouldn’t -- unless he, too, had the same shared quirk
in other words, I think All for One for All is fucking confirmed you guys. I can’t think of any explanation for this other than that OFA is also a horcrux quirk. a little piece of AFO broken off and embedded in his brother, and then passed along through the generations. and now residing within Deku
anyway. so that’s a hell of a lot to ponder lol. I guess we can at least be grateful for the fact that we’re not waiting two weeks for chapter 271 like Hori originally planned. can you fucking imagine. what a fucking asshole lol

My Hero Academia Chapter 211 Review
Ummm, Early chapter this week. But were on break next week soooo... I guess this is fine. (Note: there has been an edit made to this review to respectfully not spread any misinformation)
So w e oddly start this chapter with a little character background from Monoma. Apparently he always wanted to be a hero, but due to the fact that his quirk can only copy others, he will have to depend on others which is not what an active hero should have to do. I actually really like this cause its something we ever got from any other 1-B student, the motivation behind their path. It always made them feel a bit more shallow, so I appreciate Monoma getting a scene like this.
Also he now compares himself to Shinsou. How the two are the same is the fact that their heroic aspiration were denied based on their quirk. The difference though is Monoma still made it into the hero program and not Shinsou.
Now this scene, of Monomaa saying that doing unhero like things to those who are more gifted is okay, is likely reflective on the fact that being a hero is also a popularity contest in this world. To stand out and inspire, you’ve gotta be the best, and sometimes to do that, you do some things you might not be proud of. And with a mentality like that, its easy to see why someone like Stain is so pissed at society when it churns out heroes that will willing do un-heroic things. But then you can’t blame Monoma and Shinsou who are just trying to do their best, but given their genetic lottery they have to work harder than most.
But enough of this flashback, we need to cut back to the present where Deku is slowly losing control.
So Deku’s new black energy is emerging from his arm and Deku is quite literally fighting back against is. Monoma wonders if this is a new power to which I’m gonna save my thoughts on this till later.
Yeah Deku, its almost like the plot decided to fuck you over for the sake of this twist that I’m pretty sure no one wanted and that we could just keep to the usual flow of this arc, but no, we had to veer off in this direction because-Okay okay, I’ll save that for later too. I should really speed this up.
So its turns out that black stuff isn’t actually lightning, but more tendrils. Yeah cause that’s what One for All needed, tentacle hentai. Actually with theses black tendrils, now every fan fic writer who made a Deku as Venom AU (yes those exist) has just been justified.
Anyway, Deku releases what looks to be a beam of energy (I honestly can’t tell) and fires it off at Monoma who Deku at least warns to run.
Okay so, first off, good job Monoma. I’m glas we did make a joke out of Monoma being arrogant enough to think he could handle this. Second, what the fuck is wrong with class 1-A. I’m not saying they should act like they just watched a puppy get shot, but their classmate literally seems to be destroying everything. Now you could say that Todoroki did the same thing when he cranked up the heat, but the difference is that fire is a part of Todoroki’s quirk. Black tendrils has never been apart of his power. I know that not every kid in a classroom has to know or care about all their classmates, but I’d be concerned.
Third thing, So it seems OfA really is sentient as its jittering and moving around like it has some sort of self awareness. And finally, Yup. Can’t control your power. After we had come such a long way, you somehow are forced back to square one. I’ll talk about it later as the darkness begins to overflow.
Gotta feel bad for 1-B who just came here for an exercise, now they might die by black energy.
We see the darkness start sticking to objects (wow it really is Venom) and hoists Deku into the air. Yeah, I don’t now is this is something a user of one for all cold do, but boy its a little goofy. Uraraka and Shinsou seems to be the only people who now gives a shit about how this darkness is surging.
We now see this darkness is actually fighting against Deku, smashing him into a wall. All Might, makes a good fucking call and wants Aizawa and Vlad to shut this down. Which I’m sure Aizawa is perfectly fine with. Vlad has also had like no lines this round, like I’d love to hear his commentary.
(Yes, I realize there is an eye looking thing in the darkness, but it took me so long to find that I’m honestly might not even be sure that it is an eye.)
This scene... Breaks my heart. This in a nutshell was why I’m so opposed to this twist. After 200 chapters, Deku finally, FINALLY, doesn’t have to worry about hurting himself. He can now catchup with everyone else and it was finally time to show it off, but now. Now its fighting back. One for All is literally making him lose control when there should be no reason for him to. Has Deku master One for All? No. So there was still a chance things would go wrong, but not like this. Why? did it have to be the moment when finally the first year is coming to an end does One for All show that Deku is still not ready.
And Deku’s reaction to this is perfect for this. He’s not thinking about how he should be strong enough to resist this, showing he grew to arrogant and this is teaching him a lesson. No, Deku is sad. He’s upset that after all this time people didn’t have to worry for him. He was now strong enough to fight like Bakugou and strong enough to make 1-B actually consider him a threat, but now... Now he’s lost control.
Now it is possible that this is do to quirk singularity a topic that I’m doing a post on later, but in short it was brought up about like 50 chapters ago and its when a quirk becomes something that humans can’t control anymore. But again, talking about that later.
I’ve heard the possibility that, this darkness is actually One for All in a sentient state. Much like the previously mentioned before quirk singularity. That this is like genes being passed down so long and growing complex enough to the point that they are no longer controllable. Now there have been plenty of theories that have come out about this, but out of all of them, in general they likely relate to this. The darkness is literally fighting back against Deku as sign of his lack of more than 20% control and thus the quirk seems to quite literally be swallowing him whole. It feels like if this is the case, then Horikoshi realized that he made it so Deku was now fully protected from damaging himself thanks to his quirk. But he could just make it seem like Deku was just arbitrarily growing stronger without having any difficulty, so he developed a way for Deku to quite literally fight himself in his struggle. It was no longer limb destruction, Deku is literally fighting so that he has the right to use this quirk to its fullest extent.
If that is the case, I can’t say I agree with it. Look, I’m sure anyone could say that this doesn’t bother them. That this makes it so Deku and One for All are like Naruto and the Nine-tails, Ichigo and the hollow, Asta and the demon, etc. And those aren’t things I’m opposed to and are things that I enjoyed. But this isn’t the same. The monster inside that gives you more power worked for those series because that was their power system and world allowed for that. But MHA, quirks are more similar to Goku and Luffy. Their abilities are what is to be heightened and their second release: Super saiyan and gear two, are derivative of their competence of their biology and their power. And Deku was like that. He has a quirk that has nine generations worth of power in it and to use that power he had to learn how to take more in. His super saiyan was him at one million percent. It would destroy his body, but for a time he could use all that power. But I guess this new problem has occurred and we’ll have to see where it goes.
Anyway, the chapter isn’t done as Uraraka floats up to him.
So Uraraka is holding down darkness Deku and calls out to Shinsou and that’s where our chapter ends. Now, if people remember my FT reiewing days, they’re probably to call this a BS ship moment that defies reality and serves to pander a single fanbase. Well, no. Cause that’s not what this is. Uraraka is doing what a hero should do. She’s trying to save someone in danger, and this isn’t presented as this overtly romantic moment like say Sakura hugging curse mark sasuke, no this is actual danger that isn’t stopping so Uraraka is at risk of getting hurt here.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t take this romantically, I mean there is a lot of evidence that the two like eachother, I’m just trying to say, power of love, isn’t what’s stopping this madness, hell its evident that Uraraka needs Shinsou and his power to try and stop it. So this trope is still being done, but there is some logical weight to the solution.
Post Chapter Follow Up: So I wanna first say, this chapter is really short. Like its about 13 pages and it has very, very little dialogue. I did almost felt like I was reading a Bleach Chapter, but in fairness, this had a lot more detailing and was clearly used more as a way to show the sheer scale and weight of what the hell this thing is. Plus more detailed art, so I don’t thing the bleach comparison is entirely fair.
I am disappointed with the page count, given the break next week, I would’ve really appreciated we ended on more of bang than this. All its done is left me wanting more, but not in a very good way.
In terms of negatives, this chapter has pretty much confirmed team Deku vs team Monoma has gone off rails and that our conflict is going to actually be how do we solve this darkness. Last week, I talked about my thoughts on why I’m not a fan of that as this seems like a transparent way to make deku lose as well as seems to imply that Horikoshi had no real intent on making this fight actually work with their combatants. This not only makes this exercise feel like it will ultimately be pointless, but as I said, it screws Deku out of getting to go plus ultra while everyone else got to show how far they’ve come.
One could say that seems like bias and that the point was to get shinsou to help with the vestiges, but that doesn’t fully work cause there had to be other ways than this to make it so Sjhinsou would have to work. I mean, this was that same problem I had with the overhaul arc at the end. It was gong fine until Ryukyu dropped in with a powerup for Overhaul and then deku had to use Eri like a power-up and it just became a cluster fuck. I’m not against twists mind you, all arcs need them, the one he did with Gentle was great in my opinion, but these twists overall hurt the story cause the story was going great up till now and we’ve entered cluster fuck land.
Now look, I’m not gonna let my own opinions impede my objective view point. This twist was built up to. As we saw with the mark on Deku’s hand as he used One for All in his sleep. The fact his quirk has been feeling funny, and the fact that All Might seemed curious about this. So I can not in all good conscious call this a bad twist, but it is still one I don’t agree with.
Other positives are definitely the characterization. Aside from us getting Uraraka getting to act like a savor, we get some great development for Monoma. My only issue would have to be the timing of it. He doesn’t do much this chapter. You’d think that this would’ve been used before Deku went all darkness on us.
So what will the final verdict be. Initially I was thinking of giving this a below average, but maybe because the more chew on to this, and the more I see others reactions to this, it seems this hits that uncomfortable spot of being up to the reader to tell if they liked it or hated it. And those are always hard because there is a fair amount of good and nothing I can call really bad, but that good really isn’t enough on its own so there is an enjoyment factor that can’t be accounted for. Kinda like Aquaman. So where do I stand on this? well I have to be honest with myself as this is my review and I gotta say.
Final Verdict: 5/10
This is something you need to experience yourself to really tell if you enjoy this twist or not
There is some good action and good character development
The pacing feels rushed and there isn’t enough time to fully show this off satisfyingly
I do like the ending

BNHA Fic: Blink! Ch. 13
Read Ch. 12 | Masterlist
SPOILER ALERT: We’re now closing on the Hassaikai Arc.
Muffled voices could be heard shouting with a thumping rhythm of footsteps pounding on concrete. Her tongue had a metallic taste to it. Her body felt heavy like corroding iron in salty water.
“..—ink… B…—nk...”
Her eyes slowly fluttered open, her vision still blurry.
“Blink!” Uravity’s voice reacted and cleared up in her hearing. “You’re up!”
Blink squeezed her eyes shut and reopened them to refocus her irises. Letting out a soft breath and gasped, she laid still staring at the morning sky. Cautiously pulling herself back up, Uravity supported her back with steady hands.
“You shouldn’t move,” the brunette warned. “You’re injured.”
She looked down to see her bruised left arm was in makeshift sling with a splint. Blink audibly hissed upon feeling a sharp and numbing pain shoot up when she tried to move it. It felt like her shoulder was popped back in place while she was knocked out.
“You’re finally awake, ribbit,” Froppy hopped over with a worried look. “I tried my best to catch you when you fell, but…” Her sad eyes wandered over to her injured arm. “It was already like that by the time I did.”
“What did you do to it?” Uravity asked with worry.
“I… I don’t know,” Blink truthfully answered. The last thing she remembered was feeling a surge of adrenaline and power build up in her left arm and destroyed Chisaki’s monstrous arm before blacking out.
She asked the two girls to help her up, to which they obliged and supported her until she got her footing and balance back. Everything felt like it was in slow motion as Blink’s brain was trying to process the aftermath. Everyone around here were either evacuated with cuffs around their wrist or rushed out on gurneys to be treated at the hospital; she saw FatGum and Red Riot at a glance rushed out with IVs attached to them as they were placed into one of the ambulances to be treated. Both were passed out from exhaustion.
She shuffled her way from the girls and and found Chisaki restrained to a lone gurney. Glowering over him, he slowly regained consciousness.
“Do you know who I am?” she spoke softly, still feeling the scratchiness in her throat.
He looked at her with the eyes of a broken man.
“You look like him… Rennosuke.”
“I’m his daughter,” she coldly stated. “I’d say the despair you’re feeling from having your dreams crumble before you is a satisfying payback than seeing you dead.”
“You don’t want me dead?” he jested with a dry chuckle, as if he was daring her.
“No,” she affirmed with a renewed sense of self in her eyes. “Not anymore.”
Local authorities and heroes pitched in to help with the aftermath of the battle. They assessed four houses were destroyed due to Chisaki’s Overhaul and three citizens had minor injuries. Were it not for Deku’s quick thinking in taking the fight up in the air, the collateral damage would’ve been much worse.
The heroes who were injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Kirishima had bruising and lacerations all over his body, but will make a speedy recovery; Amajiki had a huge facial injury but will heal up quickly without scarring. Fat Gum had numerous bone fractures but was fully alert and starving. Aizawa ended up with 10 stitches from his wound.
Thanks to Blink’s on the spot triage and the knife wound missing Rocklock’s internal organs, his injuries weren’t life threatening at all. The heroine herself had a few cuts and gashes at the side of her head and right rib, dark bruising around her neck, and a dislocated shoulder. The doctors said it would take about two weeks for a full recovery, but was able to be discharged.
Unfortunately, not everyone came out unscathed.
After helping Deku take down Overhaul with her quirk, Eri collapsed and ran an extremely high fever that placed her in quarantine for the time being.
Sir Nighteye’s injuries were far too severe to recover; not even Recovery Girl could do anything to help him and succumbed to it.
The next day, Ren and Midoriya decided to stop by the hospital to visit everyone; the former wanted to see Togata and be there for him, having lost his mentor. He must be sulking in his room.
“How’s your arm, Ren-senpai?” the freckled boy asked.
“Sore,” she grumbled and scratched her cast, pretending it’s her actual skin on her arm. “The dressing’s making it itchy. My mom’s gonna kill me with her nagging when she sees this on video call.”
“Ah, I know how that feels,” the boy chuckled out uneasily and rubbed the back of his head.
The two walked on in comfortable silence.
“Mido-kun…” Ren called, prompting the boy to turn around, only to be met with a gentle smile. “Thank you.”
“Eh? F-For what?” he stuttered out.
“You helped me take down Chisaki when I couldn’t…” She looked down with a bittersweet smile. “Honestly, I’m frustrated because I had to rely on your strength to do so.”
“It’s really nothing!” he replied and held his palms out at her in neutral. “I just wanted to save Eri and—”
“You gave me the justice I wanted. I’m in your debt.”
All he could do was stare at her bruised neck, thinking back to the moment she used herself as bait just so he could rescue Eri. Even though he did defeat Chisaki, he felt guilty being unable to help her. It was then he realized the limitations of what a single person could do on his own.
This is the heavy burden every hero carries.
With his thoughts beginning to spiral out of control again, a light peck on his cheek roused him back as he saw Ren’s face extremely close to his.
Midoriya was dumbfounded.
“Come along now. We don’t wanna be late,” she casually reminded him and trekked a few steps forward.
The green haired boy, however, couldn’t move and suddenly turned five shades of red, ready to collapse right then and there.
He got a kiss. On the cheek. From his senior.
Having calmed down a few minutes later, they entered the hospital with news reports all over the TV saying Chisaki was attacked en route to prison by the League of Villains and stole an important piece of evidence. The two saw Aizawa watching the report and quickly reassured Midoriya it wasn’t his fault before making his rounds.
Leaving their belongings with Recovery Girl, the two made their way to see Togata, despite Aizawa’s warnings. The two made their way over, with Ren stopping in her steps. Midoriya turned to see his senpai with a hanged head and slumped shoulders.
“You… go on ahead first,” she uttered out and leaned on the wall. “I… need a little time to collect myself.”
The boy quietly nodded and gave her a concerned look before going ahead.
She felt bad for lying to the first year; Ren really just wanted to talk with him alone. Gathering her emotions together, she saw All-Might strolling down from the other side of the hallway.
“It’s been a while, Uncle All-Might,” she greeted. “You’re looking well.”
“Oh, Ren-chan?!” the former number one hero excitedly replied. “You’ve gotten so big!”
The two exchanged hugs and he held her at arms length to get a better look at her. It was many years ago when he last saw her, when Dave was still his sidekick in California. He remembered her and Melissa were thick as thieves as children. And now here she was in front of him as a teenage hero in-training with eyes of a person who’s seen their fair share of trauma and tragedy.
“Last time I saw you, you were as tall as my calf,” the blond hero lightheartedly joked before turning serious with a soft voice. “How are you holding up? How’s your arm?”
“Dislocated but I’ll heal up fine.” She gave him a sad smile and looked down. “Emotionally and mentally, I’m... still processing everything.”
All-Might placed firm hands on her shoulders, drawing her eyes back up to his.
“It’s not easy, going through what you are right now. Every great hero before you have been where you are. But please know there are people here for you when you’re ready to talk about it, including me.”
The girl softly nodded as he drew her into a tight and comforting hug. She had to use every ounce of willpower to not cry on his shoulder. Instead, she quietly thanked him before releasing.
“I should go and find Eraser Head,” he finalized with a small smile. “Be well, Ren-chan. We’ll see each other soon.”
“You too, Uncle All-Might.”
After a beat longer, she saw Midoriya leave the room and swiftly entered after. She saw Togata smiling at her with a hint of sadness from his bed. Swallowing the weighty lump in her throat, she slowly marched up to him, ready to give him a piece of her mind for stupidly taking the bullet for someone who’d done so much harm. Ren balled her right fist up and shook with tears streaming down her face, unable to utter a single word.
All she could do was stumble in her last few steps before throwing her uninjured arm around his wide and muscular shoulders, sobbing.
The tears he couldn’t let out because Sir Nighteye told him to keep smiling no matter what.
Tears of defeat not knowing whether or not his quirk would come back.
The tears of anger knowing how damn hard he worked to get to where he was, only to give it up for a little girl.
Tears knowing he knew being a hero who was desperately saving someone meant sacrificing his dream.
And all he could do was return her embrace, knowing exactly how she felt.
Her pillar was gone.

The debrief and piles of paperwork from the raid continued even after the interns got back to school. Aizawa had one-on-one counseling with each of them to keep their mental health in check. Ren’s was particularly short considering her history; it was more like she had nothing left to say. Everything was blurry and numb to her at that point.
The raven haired man requested her to come to him if she wanted to talk and didn’t push her any more. The train ride back was in complete silence. By the time they made it back to the dorms, it was already nightfall. As much as Ren wanted to message Seri and Tomoe, she was far too exhausted to do anything and just wanted to sleep.
The five were greeted with the entire class of 1-A.
“We were all super worried!”
“Is everyone okay?”
“We saw everything on the news!”
“You bastards are always coming home after getting caught up in somethin’ serious!” Kaminari shouted with distress. “Just stop scaring us for once!”
As the barrage of uneasiness continued, Todoroki saw one individual in the back with un-styled rose-gold hair. Her face was decorated with bandages and puffy red eyes, her skin sallow and sickly. Outfitting an arm sling on her left, she looked completely disengaged and hollow. Ren looked like she was going to disappear if someone took their eyes off of her. From what he saw of the broadcast, the look she had on her face then was all too familiar to him: it was the exact same expression he had from the Sports Festival; full of icy rage and fury.
“Ren-senpai!” Hagakure called and ran into her in the form of a tight hug, jolting her mind halfway back. “You had it rough out there too!”
“All the cameras on TV could catch was you dashing up at the villain,” Sero said. “You were crazy fast and took out one of his arms like it was nothin’!”
“But when your body went limp after he caught you, I screamed my lungs out!” Ashido exclaimed. “I thought you were actually dead!”
Bakugou sitting on the couch also noticed his upperclassman and let out a soft sigh. Even not knowing her full story, the way she was fighting the villain was on a completely different level. The power she used on him was something she dug deep to let out. It was a power requiring necessary sacrifice.
“Yes, we were all worried about them, but let’s calm down!” Iida suddenly shouted. “We all saw what happened, but their hearts have also been worn down by everything that’s happened too. As their classmates, we should give them some space to relax.”
The commotion died down to reflect on Iida’s words. That was when Midoriya spoke up.
“Thanks, Iida but… I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?”
The freckled boy nodded to which the tall spectacled boy joined in on the worrying. As the group dispersed to the kitchen area with Midoriya, Kirishima, Uraraka and Asui, Todoroki made his way to Ren and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Her desolate and weary eyes met with his troubled ones, another expression that all too recognizable.
All she could do was rest her forehead on his chest, feeling his heart beat calm her down through his sweater. His right hand naturally made its way up and rested it at the back of her head to comfort her, threading some of his fingers in her hair like his mom used to do with him.
Not wanting any more questions if someone saw them, Ren immediately got off. What they didn’t know was a certain spiky blond boy did.
“Good luck with your license exam class tomorrow,” her soft, hoarse voice said with a faint smile that never reached her eyes before turning in for the night. “Let me know how it goes.”
Even if everything felt normal with everyone in 1-A under the same roof again, certain individuals didn’t find sleep so easily. The mission played on repeat in their heads, the future uncertain.
Sure they rescued the little girl, but what will become of her?
Who would take care of her now?
And would her quirk act up again?
There were so many pieces up in the air and no one knew where it’ll land.
And then there’s the involvement of the League of Villains. Not that they know their true motives, but they were certain they stole the quirk-destroying bullets when they attacked Chisaki’s van. Not even the comfort of Ren’s bed could lull her to sleep after a day like this, despite how tired she felt.
All she could do was stare at was the box containing her past.
He was gone now. She got her closure.
So why did she feel so empty?

Consider: Mina is a genuinely happy and positive person, but everyone has bad days (especially people who have been thru trauma, like seeing your loved ones regularly beaten to a bloody pulp). The thing is that Mina just. Refuses to show that trauma has actually been effecting her. She starts suppressing negative reactions to situations bc she wants to "stay strong." Beginning of the year? She cried when they got rescued from USJ. End of the year? "Lmao guess we survived another one! Ha! Ha! :)"

Though.. I will say that just because the others are haunted by those- it doesn’t make them less perfect. It’s their struggles that they learn to cope with and grow from, and it makes them, well, them. Not a definition of perfect can define that :’)

That’s so sad- he must have thought his quirk was just life taunting him for being “disposable” hence the tape quirk :( but heck yeah, once he meets the students of UA he definitely begins to see that he wasn’t the problem in the past, but rather those that he was “friends” with!

Kirishima and Sero are the first to find out about both the frying brain and the abusive household, and Sero asks Kaminari if he wants to go try something. Kaminari says sure and Sero reserves a training ground for them, and Sero swings around with Kaminari and he hopes it works for Kami the same way it does for him. Sero is smiling because he doesn’t know what else to do, but swinging through the air helps him feel better and free. It helps. But there’s always, always the anxiety (¾)
the anxiety of ‘Maybe today is the day I fall’, but he doesn’t realize that Kaminari is helping him stay grounded. He won’t fall. Not when he gets to see Kaminari fuller of life than he’s ever been. They land on one of the buildings in ground Beta, and laugh like idiots as it starts to rain. Kaminari’s dying, Sero is a mess, and they just sit there for hours, past the end of their reservation, talking through their anxieties. Kaminari is scared to die. Sero is scared to lose him. Sero promises Kaminari he’ll be there, he’ll do everything he can to help keep him alive as long as possible, and he asks Kaminari how long he has from his last estimate. Kaminari laughs, starting to cry. Six years. Sero tells the Bakusquad, and they promise him that they’ll be there when the time comes. Not villains or Dadzawa could stop them, and finally it does. For only being a hero for three years, he’s made history for kids who have terminal illnesses (ranoutofspacedammit)
And the drawbacks of quirks come more into light. Kaminari may not be a great student or hero, but he brought hope to a lot of people, and everyone will miss him. They can’t hear thunder crack without thinking of him, can’t see the golden sunrise without thinking of his smile. Can’t even bear to look at the classic lit section in a bookstore. He saved people and raised awareness, but he wrecked their hearts as well. (Somehow this turned into a near-fic I’m so sorry Hope you’re doing well(Done))

How well do you think Snk, TG, HxH and BNHA handle their female cast? I read several posts criticising BNHA for it and I am curious about your opinion.
Ahaha… okay. So to begin I’ll say that I’ll briefly discuss each of these series, and that I define a good female character as just a character. I do not like it when common culture seems to assume that a good female character must be kickass and cold–aka traditionally masculine. Show me the feminine girls, too. Show me the masculine ones. Show me the ones who really want marriage and kids and those who prefer their careers. Just, show me that they are people.
SnK
Let’s start with SnK, as of these four I’d say it’s the best with 1) consistent representation, 2) complex characters, and 3) not reducing them to stereotypes.
In SnK, Mikasa, Annie, Gabi, Ymir, and Historia are all complex female characters never defined by their gender. Sasha and Hitch are not as complex, as they are side characters, but they’re both really well done side characters. I’ll briefly discuss each of them.
My biggest complaint about the female characters in SnK is actually a minor complaint just about Mikasa, in that I think as the female deuteragonist she deserves more focus. That being said, she’s developed really well throughout the story, and I don’t agree with claims that she has not developed. She’s developed as much as Armin has. She could fall into the badass stereotype, but she avoids that because she has a kind, caring, and extremely vulnerable side. Her devotion to Eren is clearly framed as a beautiful thing–but also as a flaw, one that is holding her back and one that can lead her into a really bad place.
Mikasa is a very well done female character. She is about so much more than just Eren–she carries the themes of living beautifully in a cruel world, the struggle to let go of loved ones, and the struggle to remember the loved ones you’ve lost.
Annie, too, could be considered a stereotypical badass who is cold to boot, but we see that she’s not always cold, as she’s kind to Armin. Her coldness she uses as a shield to protect her own shame over not being able to speak out.
That’s realistic. That’s flawed, and that’s human.
Gabi is literally female Eren, Ymir and Historia were a canon lesbian relationship that was never sexualized, and Historia’s decision to use herself to bear children is clearly framed as BAD. She’s miserable. Sasha has a beautiful mini-arc, and Hitch does as well. The men who tried to make it seem like Hitch was just a flighty girl using sex to get into the Military Police–we see that she is also a very caring, kind person who worries deeply over Annie, her friend, and Marlowe, her crush. Essentially: none of these women are defined by their romantic relationships or how well they fit into stereotypes for female characters.
HxH
Yes, I’m putting HxH second. My major complaint–and it is major–is that until Yorknew, we don’t have any female characters of substance. But, I do think that all the female characters thereafter are done really, really well. Additionally? Many of them are not traditionally beautiful.
Pakunoda is the first one with an arc, and while her arc does concern her sacrificing herself for Chrollo, it’s not romantic, and male characters in the Phantom Troupe (Nobunaga for example) also rely on Chrollo too much, despite the fact that Chrollo doesn’t really think he has worth to them. But we see her arc as a deliberate choice she makes.
The other female characters of note presented here are Machi and Melody. Melody in particular is an excellent character and a good friend not afraid to point out Kurapika’s selfishness.
Biscuit Krueger is the mentor of Gon and Killua, and while she doesn’t have her own arc per se, mentor figures usually don’t. Characters who often mistake her for a young girl who they can dismiss suffer for it.
And then the Chimera Ant Arc, Election Arc, and Dark Continent Arc present us with many great female characters. Komugi is a disabled girl, but she is never defined by her disability nor her gender. She is physically weak, and vulnerable as she has no sense of self-worth. She gets a love story, and it is beautifully done in that she is clearly not shown as saving Meruem, but shown as helping open his eyes just by being herself, vulnerabilities and all.
And Palm. Palm. She’s like, the best female character ever. @aspoonofsugar wrote a meta on her here. At the beginning we think she’s a crazy yandere, and she is in love with love, but her entire arc is a refutation of the men who would try to pinpoint her as a yandere or a sex object, as Bizeff treats her and as her own allies think she’ll copulate with the king, when in reality Palm is never defined by that. By the end of the arc, she’s grown the most of anyone. Her love is not told it’s silly and needs to be discarded, but rather transformed through her own decisions into something beautiful rather than toxic.
Alluka Zoldyck is transgender and great representation. She’s complex and while I wouldn’t say she has an arc quite yet, she probably will, and her family’s objectification of her and shame about her is clearly condemned.
Oito is a single mother who is also not defined by her status as a mother or as a queen, and I’m very excited for where Oito’s arc is going to go.
TG
If this were the first TG alone I would rank it higher than SnK but because the ending for :re was literally that bad for female characters I rank it pretty low. However, one good thing I will say is that it was not shy about showing female sexuality and celebrated it rather than condemning it.
But, for real, all the women who survive and end up happy in the ending were, at the end of their arcs with the exception of Hakatori (a minor character) defining themselves by their relationship to men. And many of them weren’t lucky enough to get arcs, like Touka, who went from being the best female deuteragonist ever in TG to literally just being a love interest in :re (I’ll fight ppl who say she’s useless, but she honestly was just a love interest in :re despite having the set up for an amazing arc because only her relationship with Kaneki was ever given focus. And that makes me sad because I think Touka is an amazing character). Saiko and Hsiao who were just essentially magical boobs.
We know Ishida can write female characters excellently. He did it in the first TG and through much of :re, but the ending was truly terrible for most female characters. Though to admit, it is worth clarifying that the male characters largely got pretty poor endings too so many it’s just the ending itself that’s bad. I wrote about this here as well.
BNHA:
Sadly, I think I would agree with whatever post was floating around that BNHA leaves much to be desired with its female characters. :/ I still love the story though.
Uraraka is by far the most complex, what with her motives to be a hero, and far stronger than everyone thinks, yet that’s never really been explored so far (I do have hope it will be, though! I do think it will be but I can’t judge a story based on what I think will happen) Most of what’s been explored so far is her crush on Deku. I just want more Uraraka regardless of her feelings on Deku (it’s clear they’ll wind up together in the end); she is one of my favorites.
Himiko, too, is kind of a typical crazy yandere defined by her twisted love. Momo and Jirou had great mini arcs, but I personally don’t like how Momo in particular is sexualized. I’m sure Mina and Hakagure will get mini arcs as well eventually (most of UA 1-A I think will), but meh.
I’m also reaaaally not a fan of how the story plays Mineta for comic relief. Like, it’s clearly condemning him for his sexual harassment, but it’s also framing it as something to be laughed at when what Mineta does is like, actually seriously Bad and not remotely funny.

Shows that made my 2017 better
So last year I made a list of shows that made my year better. Now I will say that 2016 was a FAR WORSE year than 2017 was for me. In 2016 I had academic pressure than was awful and I started a new school and all my friends ended up in different classes than me together, so that was fun. But then came 2017 and was all around just AWSOME and along with that awesome-ness came some amazing shows. Last year I just made a bullet list, but I thought that this year I should make some mini reviews, so here I go:
Fist off, my 2017 was dominated by animated shows/anime, so my eyes have really been opened to this amazing artform this year. HERE I GO:
My hero Academia/Boku no hero Academia
What an awesome show. I watched this in November/December and I love the premise, characters and plot. It has really breathed some life into the superhero genre and is an all-together fun look at what it would be like if everyone in the world had different super-powers. It has stunning animation and the manga is also super-cool and goes in a great direction. Both the anime and manga is super-recommended.
Favorite character(s): I love Todoroki, he is awesome (and I’m a slut for angsty backstory so…). Deku is great. Actually, can I just write every character here? except Mineta, fuck Mineta!
Greatest qualities about the show: The character dynamics! The way the characters interact with each other is immaculate and they just fit together great. I also really like how each arc is structured and paced.
Negatives: The girls are sometimes a little bit passive for my liking, and if there was an arc with Mineta dying I would not be mad.
Bojack Horseman
I binged this show and fell in love. What might just appear as just a wacky adult cartoon at first glance (and first couple of episodes) is actually a deep depiction of many modern-day topics and problematics such as depression, alcoholism, drug-use, sexuality, sex work, feminism, politics and of course life in Hollywoo(d). The human-like animals might be jarring at first, but it uses the character designs to its advantage with hilarious animal-puns and situations alongside making the show more lighthearted despite the shows heavy subject-matter.
The show is about the horse Bojack who was a famous sitcom star in the `90s and his slump of a life post sitcom star life and his journey back to stardom. The blend between humor and chilling, haunting realism is amazing to watch unfold alongside clever and real character development that is beautiful to watch. Ironically the most aesthetically absurd looking show on this list has the most realistic story. Great social commentary disguised as a comedy.
Favorite character(s): Everyone is flawed in Bojack Horseman, but the most interesting characters in this show for me are Bojack and Diane. So, I would say Diane is my favorite to observe.
Greatest qualities about the show: The way it discusses social issues. Its stunning and thought-provoking.
Negatives: It’s a little bit slow and odd in the beginning and some might find it a little too sad.
Rick and Morty
I discovered this show around Easter time and WOW! No show like any other on this list handles surrealism and absurdist comedy, parody and satire quite like Rick and Morty. The show about the scientist Rick and his grandson (with his grand-daughter Summer joining inn somtimes) Morty going on wacky space adventures. Ricks dick-ish nature contrasts Morty’s wide-eyed curiosity turned cynicism perfectly. The show has fun world building, alongside a great blend between one-off adventures and overarching plot. Visually the show is both stunning and disgusting making it an interesting aesthetic journey for the viewer. Funny, crazy and surprisingly deep at times. And btw watching Rick and Morty does not make you smarter nor require you to be a super-intellectual.
Favorite character(s): Morty is always delightful.
Greatest qualities about the show: Its really funny and has really great world building/concepts within the show.
Negatives: It sometimes boards on a little to gross and has some growing pain in the start.
This is kind of a shout-out to a second season of show from last year’s list so:
Stranger Things 2
Such a good “sequel”. I enjoyed every moment of the show (even the controversial Chicago episode). The characters developed, the plot developed, the new characters were amazing and tone and aesthetic from the first season was carefully preserved and used immaculately. The 80`s reference game was just as strong. For anyone who has lived under a rock the last year and a half the show (first season at least) is about the mysterious disappearance of middle-schooler Will Beyers. The year is 1983, location Hawkings, Indiana.
Favorite character(s): Steve Harrington deserves the world in season 2. I also really like Mike.
Greatest qualities about the show: Addicting story. SO BEAUTIFULLY SHOT! Amazing acting from everyone.
Negatives: Ok, I lied the Chicago episodes stagnated the plot to some extent. I just don’t hate the episode as much as everyone else.
And last but CERTANTLY not least:
Ok so I’m cheating on this one I watched this show in January but I watched the first episode in December so I’m including it and also I’m so in love and I wanted to include it here rather than next year’s list because I want it fresh in my mind.
Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
So, this entry is technically 2 shows. One was created in 2003 based on a manga by the same name but diverges from the manga around the half-way point because it ran out of material to adapt and goes in its own direction. The other is from 2009 and is a straight adaption of the manga. This creates 2 shows with the same central characters, plot and starting points that diverges GREATLY from each other and they are both amazing!
The plot goes like this; In a world where alchemy developed, you cannot create something with alchemy without having the materials that equals to what you want to make. Example: if you want to create a radio you need all the materials that make up that radio to create it. This is known as equivalent exchange and it cannot be broken.
When the young brothers Edward and Alfonse Elric’s mother dies they try bring her back using alchemy. In the process Edward loses and arm and a leg while Alfonse loses his entire body and is only left with his soul which is now bonded to suit of armor. The brothers must seek out a way to find a way to get their bodies back.
IT IS AMAZING! Both versions are amazing, but I slightly prefer the 2009 version also known as Brotherhood. It explores dark and philosophical themes and questions such as mass genocide, the life of the military, PTSD, fascism, war, politics, what is god/playing god, what is the price of a soul is, loss and most importantly daddy-issues.
There is no end to how much this series deserves praise (mostly referring to Brotherhood here). From the way its gorgeously animated, to the pacing, the way it handles it subject matter and issues and has relatable characters. The character development is perfect, and the plot never meanders or goes into dead ends and concludes beautifully. Even the attention to details is impressive with examples such as the way it shows the characters physically aging and demonstrating where in timeline the scene takes place with subtle hair changes. Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood) is like watching someone pouring all the puzzle-pieces out on the table and watching someone cleverly and creatively putting them together, thus creating a magnificent art-piece in the in the process. I would also like to mention one of the most amazing aspects of both versions being the way female characters actions, traits, part in the plot, abilities and dialogue are some of the best female writing I have ever seen. Ironically enough in a work marked towards teenage boys.
Favorite character(s): Fullmetal Alchemist is the kind of show that I like to call having “parks and rec”-syndrome, where genually love everyone, however If I have to pick I might say Winry. I absolutly lover her and I think she is a great role model, hillarious and greatly written.
Greatest qualities about the show: The way it deals with its subject-matter. And also everything else about the show, but especially that.
Negatives: Nothing about the show, just a little girl and her dog that im a little tierd being meme-ed to death on reddit but also kinda laugh so im a little bit conflicted, but there is no negatives that I can think of.
That was it, bye-bye 2017, I watched some fine televison in your year, and I hope to find some just as good in 2018.
