"But...but...but think of the things we could learn here!" said Ponder. "The possibilities are breathtaking! At last there's a god who's actually got the right idea! At last we can get some answers to all the important questions! We could...we can...Look, we can't just go. I mean, not go! I mean...we're wizards, aren't we?" He was aware that he had their full attention, something that wizards did not often give. Usually they defined "listening" as a period in which you worked out what you were going to say next. It was disconcerting.
Then the spell broke. The Senior Wrangler shook his head. "Curious way of looking at things," he said, turning away. "So...I vote we take plenty of those cheese nuts, Archchancellor."

I'm glad that as a child I learnt what things were called and spent hours matching the word snail to a picture of a snail because now whenever it gets awkward (in text) I can just put the snail emoji and say snail. It's very effective.
If it gets awkward in real life I just say snail out loud and hope they know what it looks like.
If not, I always keep photos of snails on my phone to show them.

snail.
(pro tip for other people with no communication skills; among us works just as well but you might be bullied. i still use it despite this because well... uh...)

my favorite form of dominance is when someone is in a conversation involving several people with different viewpoints, and this one person is listening and they say nothing for some time and then they finally say something and it is so incredibly reasonable and it shows understanding of everything everyone said and synthesizes it perfectly and everyone is like "yeah, that" and it like, settles all the disputed points and instantly changes everyone's viewpoint

When someone asks me what my story’s about and I say “I’m still sort of figuring that out” what I mean is “I’ve already planned out the entire thing but I don’t like talking about the stuff I make”.

I think I’ve cracked Social Interaction with NTs as someone most probably ND. In my responses, half should be me talking about something I like/care about/experience I’ve had, and half should be me either relating or turning the conversation towards them and asking questions. Cuz they like when you take small turns. So I can’t say EVERYTHING I want to say, but at least I have a bit of my ways and they get a bit of theirs, in compromise.

A Little About Conversation Skills
Conversations are daily practices that we do, and many of them can change the course of our lives. We use different skills and our entire body to communicate in each conversation. We communicate verbally and non-verbally. Many research studies suggest that non-verbal communication has more power than words. Our bodies absorb the messages from the environment through an introspection system…

My favourite new perk that comes with learning Italian is that now I have ability to say “PERCHÉ” whenever a close friend of mine makes a stupid decision. The additional input from a dramatic language such as Italian really helps with the message delivery bit of your discussion. Try it. It works.

The Struggles of an Introvert:  Your Life is Shaped by How People See You
It should come as no secret to you, my fellow introvert, that people’s opinions of you—of the things you do, the things you say, and the things you like—has a very real emotional impact on you. People that showcase a positive response to you almost always become friends (or at least a person we hold in high regard). Those who let slip even slightly negative impressions fall somewhere on a…

"Music?" said the Patrician. "Ah. Tell me more."
He leaned back in at attitude that suggested attentive listening. He was extremely good at listening. He created a kind of mental suction. People told him things just to avoid the silence.

people talk about how "helpless" and "underdeveloped" human babies are compared to newborns from other species (e.g. foals can gallop 24 hours after birth, newly hatched kiwi chicks feed themselves, etc)
But. can you imagine how absolute nightmarish it would be if newborn babies could run around and climb on top of stuff? and think of the birth-giving parent, not only are they exhausted and in pain now their baby is MOBILE AND ROAMING that would be terrifying

Reading UTRH and in awe of how calculated and planned out all of Jason's little schemes are. Last minute shipment no one knows about? Red Hood does and he's blowing you up. Secret little meeting? Red Hood is crashing the party after leisurely eavesdropping. Oh wait he's cornered and fleeing? Nope, that's a microgun and wearable box of ammo he hid outside the door, you're still the sucker here.
