GMG arc comments
natsu had to remind everyone why they were the strongest guild 7 years ago for a reason. beating up the duo dragon slayers in his base form. gajeel was done so dirty here, though.
bacchus vs. erza was a missed opportunity. erza stated bacchus is as strong as her, and their fights never had a conclusion 7 years ago. the gmg final day should have given this to us. he was taken out too early in a comedic manner.
sting and rogue were a pair of softies who really love their exceeds. i really pity them.
sting's hair should have been white, silver or platinum blond (a very light shade of yellow). the blond dragon slayer only belongs to the og king laxus. anyway, just a petty comment because i think there should've been a hair color variation with the dragon slayers.
i hate how they did lucy dirty in this arc. even though her newfound strength was displayed, she went through torture twice. she was used as a tool to show the guild's unity, fueling their 'love for family' dynamic, which i find ridiculous.
minerva is honestly fabulous (even though she infuriates me in this arc). the plum lipstick and blue eyeshadow is just chefs kiss. i saw her re-design in the future without all the glamour and it's such a shame they changed that. i get it might've been because she changed, but still, there's a way to keep the glamour.
kagura is amazing. kinda hate how she was taken out like that. aside from fighting erza, i wish she fought someone else seriously like juvia.
gray vs. rufus was insane. gray taking rufus' hat was totally disrespectful (but also sexy). reminding us he is mashima's IT BOY for a reason.
natsu, who's always loved fighting, skipped the last day of gmg just to save lucy. man knows his priorities. he's also hella precious cause he is a girl's boy for being mad in behalf of yukino.
i don't get the yukino hate (same with lisanna). i saw a lot of foul comments wishing she was gone just so lucy could have all the zodiac keys. imo the hatred is rooted in misogyny (over a fictional character), which is ridiculous. i rarely ever saw this hostile energy about male characters who had done terrible things.
love how mirajane unleashed 100% of her strength during the garou knights fight. she is underrated but equals to erza for a reason.
as someone who knows shit about pokemon, ground vs. thunder, jura vs. laxus, threw me for a loop. i had to remind myself that ft logic does not follow pokemon lmao.

SIDE D, ROUND 1, MATCH 16
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Girl's Paradise vs Runaway Boy A
Fan-submitted propaganda is under the cut.
Girl's Paradise
I didn’t learn that silly-ass choreography for nothing
the summer troupe's playing as girls bit to encourage kumon was already funny in the game but they took it to another level on the stage by actually CROSS-DRESSING (with varying degrees of actually looking like girls, ranging from muku's wig that's the exact same shade of pink of his hair, to the braided cords on sumi's beanie), and the song is such silly goofy fun. the actors do a good job of sounding like guys doing a bad job at impersonating girls. also there's this part where some of their voices randomly go really deep and there's laughter in the background (in the album version at least) JSDKDA THAT'S SO FUNNY. and juza's attempt at impersonating a girl..... well he tried at least and that's what matters. i especially love the part where natsu goes "💄✨👧🏻 juko? 💄✨👧🏻" and juza i mean juko goes "👹k-KYUN👹" they're so silly i love them your honour
Runaway Boy A
it's just so much fun and it's a great way to introduce azami as a newbie member (technically yes he was introduced in summer 2022 but back then he was just some guy hanging around the company) as well as his dynamic with sakyo, and such a banger way to open the play too. also matsukawa begging them to stop is so funny kjndjka

This was requested on AO3 by Fairyzilla.
This is request is pretty creative. I likely would not have been able to come up with this on my own and I hope that Fairyzilla keeps the requests coming. I love their requests, honestly.
As I have stated before, I love the idea of Romeo having a crush on Lucy. I love when a young character has a cute crush on one of the older main characters. I also think that a younger character and an older character both having a crush on one of the main characters and having a bit of a rivalry as a result is fun to watch go down. Of course, you can't have a matchmaking chance without Mira, The Matchmaking Demon herself.
I also enjoy when shows focus a bit on young characters growing and going through feelings that they have no control over and instead let these feelings control them. It can be pretty relatable in a way and shows how these young characters are still kids, and thus, do stupid stuff. However, they are still able to learn from and fix their mistakes. Characters like Romeo and Wendy are great for this kind of writing.
WARNING: SLIGHT MENTIONS OF BLOOD AND ONE INSTANCE OF SELF HARM
I hope you enjoy!
Creating a New Couple (Gray x Lucy ft. Romeo and Mirajane)
A shirtless Gray sipped on a cold drink, sitting across from Lucy and listening to her talk about a visit to Yukino she had just returned from. He loved hearing her voice. It was like a melody that he would never get tired of hearing. The way she lit up when she was talking about something she loved or was recounting a positive event made the ice mage smile stupidly to himself. She was just so beautiful no matter what she was doing.
Her hair was such a stunning shade of blonde, it was as though her hair was weaved out of sunlight. Her eyes were an enchanting, dark brown that Gray could stare into for as long as she would allow him. He especially loved how her eyes were incredibly expressive. He always knew how she was feeling just by looking into her eyes. She had a body that he was sure any man would dream of. Her skin was smooth and soft, and the faint stretch marks from her development were adorable. He just wanted to run his fingers along them and pepper kisses along her skin. And then, there was her personality. Lucy was everything he wanted in a woman. She was kind, strong, smart, forgiving, always wanted to help, determined, and stubborn to the point that it was admirable. She accepted everybody and never judged anyone trying to change for anything they did in the past. She even helped him get Juvia to move on from him, which he was forever grateful for.
She was perfect in Gray's opinion.
He watched as the celestial wizard he loved waved around her hands as she continued to talk about something stupid Sting had said while she was at Sabertooth. Gray thought it was cute how she aggressively talked with her hands every time she was talking about something that wound her up. It could even be funny sometimes, like when she accidentally smacked Freed in the face as she recounted a job she took with Natsu, got frustrated, and wasn't aware that the green-haired mage who wanted to return a book to her was approaching from behind.
Gray propped his right elbow on the table and rested his chin in his palm, slanting slightly to the right. As he continued to listen to Lucy talk, he felt a pair of eyes on him. He shifted his black gaze toward the bar, seeing a sight that he had seen before. Romeo sitting at the bar and glaring at him. It wasn't a surprise. The thirteen-year-old boy had a crush on Lucy and would glare at any man that talked to her while also finding any excuse to talk to her and give her little gifts. The boy even managed to go on a bunch of jobs with her.
Somehow, Lucy didn't know that Romeo was crushing on her, or if she did know, she didn't mention it to anybody. Although, much of the guild knew about Romeo's feelings for her and thought that it was adorable. Gray, however, found it to be annoying. Every time he tried to confess his feelings to Lucy, the kid would find some way to get in his way. How the hell was Romeo even able to always know when Gray was going to confess? It was a mystery that the ice mage didn't care to know the answer to. He just wanted the young fire mage to butt out.
Gray had mentioned Romeo's bothersome feelings to Macao, hoping that the boy's father would talk to him, and explain why he didn't have a chance with her. However, the man never did, instead, he would brush it off, saying that it was normal for a boy his age and that he would get over these feelings eventually. Gray then went to Mira, thinking that she would sympathize, but she too would brush it off and agree with Macao.
Gray narrowed his gaze glaring back at the boy. This prompted Romeo to answer with a fiercer glare. The ice mage internally sighed. Theorizing that Romeo would finally give up holding onto the nonexistent chance that he thought he had if Lucy was taken, Gray decided to go to Lucy's schedule and confess to her there.
He waited for Lucy to wrap up her story and take a sip of her strawberry milkshake. He watched as she grimaced at it and looked at Gray with a sweet smile that made his stomach do flips and made him fall even more in love with her. The blonde asked, "Gray, I guess I was talking too long and my drink got a bit too warm. Could you make it cold again?"
Gray smiled at her and pointed at the now warm drink, icy air surrounding it and making it cold. When he pulled his hand away and laid it back down on the table, Lucy took a testing sip before determining that it was sufficiently cold and begin gulping it down. She looked cute and Gray chuckled.
When Lucy had finished her rechilled drink, Gray said, "Hey, Lucy, I'm hungry. Mind making me some food?" The celestial wizard nodded with a smile and stood up, walking over to the guild's door, pushing it open, and making her way to her apartment. Gray pushed open the door, but paused and looked back at Romeo. The boy scowled at him, prompting Gray to smirk at him before turning and following after Lucy.
Romeo balled his fists as he watched Gray walk out of the guild behind Lucy with a scowl. He knew what Gray was planning to do and wasn't going to allow it. He hopped off of the stool he was sitting on, but before he could begin making his way to Lucy's apartment, he heard Mira say to him when she walked up to him from behind, "Romeo, what are you doing?"
The boy turned around to see Mira staring at him with her brow furrowed. She clearly knew what he was planning to do and she wasn't pleased. Romeo shrank back a little as he answered, "I just want to ask Lucy if she's interested in going on a job with me this week."
Mira stared down at him for a few moments, giving him a fierce glare. She then placed her hand on his head, saying in a serious tone, "don't get in Gray's way."
Romeo nodded and ripped away from the older woman. He burst out of the guildhall and ran through Magnolia to Lucy's apartment. He had to get there before anything actually happened. He had been able to keep Lucy single by ruining any man's attempt to ask her out and he would not allow himself to fail now.
He loved Lucy. She was the most beautiful, kindest, funniest, and the coolest woman he had ever met. He would be damned if he allowed his chances with her to be ruined. He had been taking every chance he could get to become closer to her. He had been making sure that she stayed single. He had been giving her gifts and going on jobs by himself to show that he was responsible and not as much of a child as he appeared to be. He was determined to show her that he was what she needed and wanted in a boyfriend. He just had to continue what he was doing and wait for her to return his feelings.
Romeo thought about what could be happening in Lucy's apartment as he got closer to his destination. The very thought of the ice bastard confessing his love to the beautiful celestial wizard made him grit his teeth and push himself further. The young fire mage was sure that he was the best option for Lucy.
He came to a stop in front of the blonde's apartment and took a moment to catch his breath. He then knocked on the door several times before waiting with his fists balled at his sides for Lucy to open the door. It took only a few moments for the door to open and reveal the young woman that he had his eyes set on.
Romeo froze when he saw her standing there in the doorway. He felt sudden shyness come over him. His cheeks heated up and his tongue became tied. He swore that Lucy got even more gorgeous with each passing day. He honestly couldn't wait for the day that Lucy agreed to become his girlfriend. He would make sure that she felt loved and beautiful every day and now man would take her from him.
He was brought out of his thoughts when he heard Lucy's alluring voice speak to him, "Hey, Romeo! What do you need?"
The young teenager stuttered in response, scratching the back of his head and looking away from her enchanting, dark brown eyes, "I-I um...I wanted to ask if you could go with me on a job this week."
Lucy gave him a smile that made him fall for her even harder. The blonde responded, "I would love to!"
Romeo smiled brightly at her, making a mental note to find a job that would last several days. Now that he secured a job with her, he just had to get her to invite him in so he could get in Gray's way. He was expecting to make an effort in order to do that, but to his surprise, Lucy opened the door wider and asked, "Gray and I are making some food. Interested in joining us?"
Romeo gave a wide smile and nodded. He walked past her and followed her through the main room and into the kitchen. The room contained a stove, oven, cupboards, cabinets, and an island that had a cutting board with a large kitchen knife on it. Carrots, onions, and tomatoes sat next to the cutting board. On the lit stove was a pot of what Romeo assumed was soup, light steam rising from it. On the far left wall was a closed doorway that led to a dining room. Standing at the island was Gray, who began glaring at the younger mage upon noticing him when Lucy wasn't looking.
Romeo returned the glare, but both male mages stopped when Lucy turned around to look at both of them. She placed her hands on her hips and looked from one mage to the other with a smile on her face. She said, "I'm going to set the table." She looked at Gray to tell him, "Gray, could you cut the rest of those vegetables and put them in the pot, please?" When the ice mage nodded, took up the kitchen knife, and began cutting a carrot, Lucy turned to Romeo to say, "Romeo, you just stay here, okay? I don't want you to get hurt."
Romeo quickly responded, "are you sure? I can help."
Lucy nodded, saying, "yes, I'm sure. As I said, I don't want you to get hurt."
Romeo nodded and watched as she turned around and walked into the dining room, the door closing behind her. The young fire mage both liked and didn't like that Lucy had told him to simply stand around and do nothing. He liked it because it showed that she cared greatly for him. That meant he was making progress. He didn't like it because it meant that he wouldn't be able to show her that he was just as helpful as Gray.
Speaking of, Romeo turned his gaze to the ice mage, narrowing his eyes. He sneered at him, "do you have to keep trying to get with her? You're just going to get rejected in the end."
Gray stopped cutting up the carrot and glared at the younger mage. He replied with a cold tone, "you can't seriously think that you have a chance with her."
Romeo nodded. "Of course I have a chance! I'd make a better boyfriend than you ever could! Why don't you just leave now so Lucy and I can have a long-awaited date?"
Gray, suddenly shirtless, turned to face the boy, his mouth agape. He then brought himself back and hissed down at the fire mage, "you're a kid! You're too young for Lucy! You need to get over this weird fixation on her and move on to someone your own age!"
Romeo hissed back, "you can't even keep your shirt on! How do you expect to be good enough for Lucy? Just because I'm younger doesn't mean that I can't be the best boyfriend she'll ever find!"
Gray ignored the fact that he had lost his shirt at some point. Instead, he scoffed, "Lucy isn't interested and she never will be. She just sees you as a younger brother."
Romeo balled his fists and took a step closer. As anger welled up inside him, he growled, "stop talking!"
Gray continued despite the threatening stance, "you a kid. You can't date her. Just face it, this whole fantasy of dating Lucy isn't going to ever happen."
Romeo gritted his teeth and spat out, "stop before roast you!"
Gray shook his head before he went on, "just get out of here now and go do normal kid stuff. I'm going to confess to Lucy and I'm not going to let some kid with a crush stop me."
Romeo stormed forward and grabbed Gray's right hand. If he couldn't get Gray to leave on his own, then he'll get Lucy to kick him out. He gripped the ice mage's hand, trapping the kitchen knife in it, and used raised his left arm. Using the knife that he held in the other mage's hand, he cut his own arm and quickly stepped back.
As Gray stared in shock, trying to process what had happened, Romeo wailed in pain, "Lucy! Lucy! Gray hurt me! Lucy!"
Before Gray could drop the knife, Lucy came running into the kitchen. She stared between the knife in Gray's hand and Romeo's bleeding arm. Romeo watched through his pained tears with masked satisfaction as Lucy became angry and Gray struggled to defend himself, unable to find words that were suitable to explain what had just happened and to calm the enraged Lucy.
The celestial wizard yelled at her friend, "Gray! What the hell did you do? I just hurt Romeo! What the hell has gotten into you? I can't believe that you just hurt him for no reason!"
Gray stuttered, trying to figure out what he should say while still trying to process what had happened himself, "Lucy...I-I um...I didn't-I would never-"
Lucy interrupted him by screaming, "get out! Get out, Gray! I loved you! I can't believe you would hurt a child! Get out now!" She pointed at the door and glared at the ie mage so fiercely that he didn't try to continue to defend himself. Instead, he set the knife down and walked out of the apartment, his head down and tears leaking from his eyes.
Romeo wiped the tears off of his face and smirked to himself. He was in pain, but at least he got rid of that jerk. He turned his attention to Lucy when he felt her lift his cut and bleeding arm. He felt bad about getting blood on her floor, but it wasn't wood or carpet, so at least it would be easy to clean up. He watched as Lucy treated his injury, cleaning it and wrapping it. He winced at the alcohol that she cleaned it with but was quickly distracted from the pain when he realized that Lucy was struggling to hold back her tears.
He thought back to what Lucy had said to Gray. She yelled at the ice mage that she loved him. She loved him. Romeo watched as Lucy walked into the main room of her apartment, with him following after her. He watched her sit on her bed and bury her tearful face in her hands. He felt a stab of guilt through his chest.
Then, the realization hit him like a punch from Erza. Lucy loved Gray. Oh God, she actually loved him. As Romeo leaned against the doorway, realizing that he had just taken away two innocent people's chance at true happiness, there was only one thought on his mind. What did I just do?
Mira finished cleaning the lost of the glasses when she heard the guild door open. She looked over to see a tearful Gray dragging his feet over to the bar, plopping down on one of the stools, and laying his head on his folded arms. The white-haired mage asked worriedly, "what's wrong, Gray?"
The black-haired man answered with a few sniffles. Mira's brow furrowed. She knew that Romeo did something. She told that boy not to get in Gray's way and surprise surprise, that was exactly what he did. She was going to give that kid a piece of her mind.
Mira waved over her sister, told her to take over for a little bit, and exited the guild. In her anger-induced dash, she quickly made it to Lucy's apartment. Standing in front, leaning against the closed door, was Romeo. She noticed that his left arm was wrapped in slightly bloodstained bandages. The boy had his hands stuffed in his pockets, his head hanging and a few stray tears running down his round face.
As she approached him, Mira's face softened a little, though it was still clear that she was mad. She stopped in front of the young fire mage with her arms crossed over her ample chest. She demanded, "care to tell me what you did?"
Romeo looked up at her, tears in his dark eyes. The sight made Mira's heart ache, but her angry facial expression didn't lessen. The boy dropped his head and looked back down at the ground. He sighed before he answered, "I cut my arm and blamed Gary. Lucy yelled at him and threw him out."
Mira waited for Romeo to lift his head and look up at her, and then she slapped him across the face. It wasn't hard enough to cause a great amount of pain, but it was hard enough to get her anger and disaprovment across."
Romeo nodded, muttering, "I deserved that."
Mira crossed her arms over her chest again and stated, "how do you plan to fix things?"
Romeo kept his eyes glued on his shoes. He mumbled, "I don't know."
Mira kneeled in front of the younger mage. She placed a hand on his shoulder, drawing his gaze to her, and told him with a softer but still stern tone, "I'll tell you what you're going to do. You're going to tell Lucy what really happened. You're also going to apologize to both Lucy and Gray."
Romeo looked at her as though he was going to object but quickly decided not to further anger the young woman. He nodded and turned around, opening the door and walking into the main room with Mira following him. She was going to make sure that he do as she instructed.
As Mira waited at the door, Romeo walked over to a sniffling Lucy, her hands buried in her hands. The take-over mage watched as the boy tapped on the celestial wizard's shoulder. When Lucy looked at him, tears in her eyes, the fire mage began confessing the truth of what had happened earlier. Lucy listened, her facial expression changing from one of sorrow to one of anger.
Lucy stood up, angrily asking, "why would you do that, Romeo?"
The boy looked down, new tears pricking the corners of his eyes. He sniffled, "I-I love you, Lucy. I wanted to make sure that you stayed single because I wanted to have a chance with you. I'm sorry."
Lucy sighed. She kneeled in front of the younger mage, placing her hands on his shoulders. She said softly, "Romeo, I'm too old for you. Our ages may not be too far away, but we are in two different places in life, mentally, emotionally, and physically. There is no way you and I would date. It just wouldn't work. Plus, I've only ever seen you as a little brother. I love the friendship that we have now, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. I love you, Romeo. Not romantically, but as a brother and friend."
Romeo wiped the tears from his eyes and sniffled a few times before he asked hesitantly, "are you mad at me?"
Lucy smiled kindly as she answered, "yes, but I still forgive you. Romeo, you're still very young. You are still growing in many ways. You'll make mistakes that you'll regret and you'll hurt people without completely meaning to. But, that's all part of growing up. You just need to know when what you did was wrong, acknowledge that fact, apologize, and try to make things right. I know you will be a great mage when you become an adult. You still have growing and learning to do, so don't get frustrated with yourself, okay?" Romeo nodded. He gave a teary smile and hugged the celestial wizard, who returned his hug.
When the pair parted, Mira said with a smile, "Lucy, Gray is in the guild and he seems to be pretty devastated."
Lucy gasped and exclaimed, "Gray! I need to apologize and properly tell him that I love him!" She then tore out of her apartment, leaving her other two guildmates behind.
Lucy ran to the guild, her legs already hurting as she pushed herself further. She had to apologize to Gray and tell him that she loved him. She had to take the chance that she had been wanting to take for years. She finally had the courage to tell him and she wasn't sure if she would have the courage again anytime soon. She spotted the ie mage walking out of the guild, looking depressed. The sight made Lucy want to cry.
As she got closer, she called out to him as he turned to walk away, "Gray! Gray! Stop!"
Gray stopped in his tracks and whipped around, tearful eyes widened in surprise. Lucy launched herself in his arms, causing the ice mage to stumble back and onto his ass. The celestial wizard sat up on his lap, cupped his face in her hands, and wiped away the stray tears. She then slammed her lips onto his. Gray quickly kissed back.
The two mages pulled away. Lucy smiled at him and exclaimed, "I love you, Gray! I'm so sorry for getting mad at you and throwing you out of my apartment! It was all a misunderstanding that I'll explain later! I love you! Please tell me that you love me too!"
Gray stared at her in shock, taking a few moments to process what had just happened. Once he finished processing her words, he wrapped his arms around her waist, bringing her closer to him, and kissed her passionately, a kiss that the blonde returned instantly.
When they pulled away, Gray softly responded, "I love you too, Lucy."

Hide and Seek
For Gruvia Week 2021: Day 3 - Discovery
Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 4
Pairing: Gruvia (Gray Fullbuster & Juvia Lockser) Fandom: Fairy Tail Genre: Romance/Humor Word Count: 4,424 words Summary: It was safe to say that this wasn't the way Gray envisioned revealing their relationship to anyone. You may also read it on FanFiction.net and AO3! Check out my master list for other Gruvia fics.
The smell of curry wafted through his bedroom before he heard her call his name.
"Gray-sama! Lunch is ready!"
Really, he would have been happy with a couple of caramade franks delivered to his doorstep. But Juvia would hear none of it, saying he ought to eat healthier homecooked meals whenever he could—an indirect way of telling him that she would cook for him every chance she got. And even though Gray protested that Juvia was unnecessarily tiring herself out, she was the type of person who would go through all the trouble to make him happy. Even if that meant cooking a full meal of his favorite food the day after she just got back from a week-long mission.
Clad only in his boxers, Gray got up from his bed and made his way to his apartment's dining area. It wasn't much, just a square wooden table large enough to seat two people (or four, if you cramp them in). He watched as Juvia—wearing only his shirt that looked too large on her delicate frame—prepared the table, making sure to put extra curry sauce over his rice like she knew he loved.
Juvia moved her chair to the corner of the table so that she was sitting next to him, their arms and knees touching.
"Tsk! Why are you sitting so far from me?" Gray grumbled, pretending to be annoyed.
Juvia glanced at him, confusion evident on her face. "What is Gray-sama talking about? Juvia is almost on your lap." Even so, she moved closer to him so that they were almost squished together.
"But you're not."
With a mischievous smile playing on his lips, Gray picked Juvia up like a plushie and sat her on his lap. She shrieked and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Now that's better," he grinned, one arm around her waist and another across her lap, his fingers palming her exposed guild mark.
"Gray-sama!" Juvia scolded him, a healthy shade of pink blooming on her pale cheeks. "Juvia and Gray-sama should be eating. We already skipped breakfast!"
"So?" He ignored her weak protests as he tightened his hold on her waist and buried his head at the crook of her neck, leaving a wet kiss just below her ear. He could feel her fingers gripping the hair on his nape as he trailed kisses down her neck.
"Gray-sama..."
It was supposed to be a plea to let her go, but it came out huskier than Juvia intended, causing a tightness in Gray's boxers. With all the energy she could muster, Juvia pushed him away and cradled his head between her hands so that she could look him in the eyes.
"Gray-sama needs to eat so he can have more energy—" she kissed him on the lips—"to satisfy Juvia." She sported a sweet, innocent smile, but there was an unmistakably playful glint in her eyes.
Gray smirked. "Am I not satisfying you, huh?" He kissed her hard before she could even answer, and Juvia tried her best not to melt into a puddle right then and there.
"You are," Juvia said between kisses. "But Gray-sama and Juvia need to eat. Our last meal was last night."
"But I only want to eat you," Gray whispered as he nibbled at her ear, his hand sliding dangerously between her legs. Juvia tried to protest, but her voice came out so weak as Gray trailed kisses on her cheek and covered her mouth with his.
A couple of knocks made both of them jump.
"Are you expecting someone, Gray-sama?" Juvia asked, finally getting a chance to pull away, but not enough to completely escape.
"No," Gray mumbled. He couldn't care less as he continued planting wet kisses on Juvia's cheeks, down to her jaws and neck. If he ignored whoever was at the door, that person would surely go away.
A louder set of knocks pounded on his door.
Collecting as much willpower as she could possibly get (given that Gray was practically lapping her up like a cold popsicle on a blazing hot day), Juvia hopped off Gray's lap and straightened herself.
"Gray-sama should answer that."
"C'mon, Juvs," Gray whined, hating how she was suddenly out of his reach. He tried grabbing her wrist, but she quickly pulled her hands to her chest and pointed towards the door. He felt the urge to punch whoever was on the other side.
That bastard won't even know what's coming.
Sighing, Gray started to make his way towards the door when a barrage of knocks once again threatened to take his door off the hinges. It was followed by a voice that sent a chill down his spine.
"Open up, Fullbuster!"
It only took a second for Juvia to recognize the familiar voice and cover her mouth with her hands.
"Erza-san? What's she doing here?"
"How would I know? I told her I was sick!" Gray said, careful not to raise his voice. Not only did he lie to Erza and his whole team so that he could skip their mission—he did it so he could spend time with Juvia, his secret girlfriend for about a month now. After all, she just got back from a mission herself, and they had barely spent three full days with each other since they got together as they were whisked away to mission after mission—he with Team Natsu and she with Gajeel and Lily.
For goodness' sake, they deserved their 'alone time' together. And by that, he meant getting away from the prying eyes of his guildmates.
It wasn't like anyone would be disappointed to learn that he and Juvia were going out. In fact, he was quite sure he would have to endure merciless teasing from pretty much everyone in the guild for at least a couple of weeks when they found out about them.
It was just that with Juvia right here—in his home, wearing only his shirt and her skimpy lacy panties that barely covered her bum—it was safe to say that this wasn't the way he envisioned revealing their relationship to anyone.
"Gray! We brought food." It was Lucy this time.
He took a deep breath. Okay, you just have to show them you're fine and they'll leave you alone. Turning to Juvia, he said, "Hide. In my room. Now."
Juvia nodded and noiselessly scurried off to Gray's room. Though hiding their relationship for the meantime was more of Gray's idea than hers, she definitely didn't want to reveal it by getting caught half-naked in his apartment.
Another series of pounding brought Gray's attention back to his front door. "Gray, I swear if you don't open this right now, I will—"
Gray opened the door and came face to face with a worried Lucy and a frowning Erza, both carrying huge brown paper bags brimming with snacks and fruits.
"Thanks for visiting, but I'm fine. You can go," Gray said in a flat tone. Well, if he wanted to continue his make-out session with his girlfriend, he better get down to business right away and cut his friends' visit as short as possible.
"Hello to you, too," Erza answered the cranky ice mage. Without being invited in, she sidestepped Gray and walked straight to the kitchen, setting down the paper bag she was carrying. Lucy followed, muttering, "Geez, thanks for the warm welcome," and started taking out the food they brought with them.
"Seriously, what are you two doing here?" he asked as he followed them into the kitchen.
"We're being good friends, dummy," Lucy answered him. "You're sick, so we thought we'd make sure you're okay."
"Well, I'm okay. You didn't have to go out of your way for this."
"And just let you starve to death?" Erza asked. Everyone knew Gray couldn't cook an egg to save his life. She found a box of medicines in the grocery bag and tossed it to Gray.
"That doesn't seem to be the case, though," Lucy quipped, her hand holding a barely eaten bowl of curry. "Someone must have already stopped over to cook for Gray."
Gray gulped and tried his best to keep a straight face.
"You know, this tastes like the curry Juvia cooks for us in Fairy Hills," Erza remarked after tasting the dish, a crease forming on her brows.
Oh no, Gray thought. How did Juvia's name come up all of a sudden? And how the hell would he steer the conversation around? His mind drew up a blank, fixated on the fact that Juvia was just a few feet away from being found and he couldn't do a single thing about it.
"Did Juvia drop by this morning to bring you food, Gray?" Lucy asked in a teasing tone, a naughty glint in her eyes.
"Y-yes! Yes, that's what she did!" Gray answered, a little too eagerly. "And then she left right away. For a mission. For three days. Yeah, that's it. She won't be back for three days." Mentally, he thanked Lucy for giving him that perfectly plausible scenario.
"Really? I'm surprised she didn't insist on taking care of you," Erza said. Gray smirked as he remembered all the ways Juvia took care of him since last night.
"Yeah, that's so unlike Juvia, isn't it?" Lucy said, her hand cradling her chin like she was deep in thought. Her eyes shot up to Gray, making beads of sweat form on his forehead. "Are you sure you're not hiding her in your apartment?"
"W-what?!" A furious blush adorned Gray's cheeks. "Why would you think that?!"
He must have looked so exasperated as both girls broke into a fit of laughs.
"I'm just kidding, Gray. You're so fun to tease," Lucy said, while Erza placed her hand on his forehead and said, "I think your fever shot up again."
"Sh-shut up," Gray said, swatting Erza's hand and reverting to his usual poker face. He took a seat and grabbed one of the plates, taking a mouthful of rice in his mouth. Now that Juvia wasn't within arm's reach, he was starting to feel hungry. After all, it had been more than 12 hours since he last ate.
And Juvia, too.
"Look, I'm grateful for all your help, but I'd really like to be alone and rest," he said, trying to sound as convincing as possible. "I can totally handle myself."
"Aww, don't be like that! We were just teasing you," Lucy said as she sat next to him. She took the other plate of curry and started eating. "This is really good! I haven't tasted Juvia's curry before."
Noticing that Lucy was eating Juvia's share, Gray blurted, "Don't eat that!"
Lucy just rolled her eyes. "Chill lover boy, there's more than enough here for everyone."
"Can't believe you're not just overprotective of Juvia. You're also super protective of her food," Erza taunted as she got her own plate and started putting food on it.
Gray sighed. What should I do to make these two leave?
"Yeah, you're all protective but you're not doing anything about it. Juvia is a patient girl, but you never know when she'd get tired of waiting for you."
"Might be soon." Gray glowered at Erza, but she ignored him and added, "Mira saw her giggling and blushing at her lacrima several times while we were on a mission."
"Come to think of it, you're sick, yet she left on a three-day mission?" Lucy surmised and Erza nodded. "Perhaps she already found someone who would actually appreciate her."
Gray balled his fists under the table. Even though his friends had no idea that he was actually the one Juvia was talking to via lacrima during their mission, he couldn't help but feel a bit mad that they would think Juvia's affections would sway that easily.
"Juvia would never betray me," he snapped before he could even think.
"Betray you?" Lucy raised her eyebrows.
"Why would you call it betrayal? Is she your girlfriend?" Erza narrowed her eyes at him.
"Juvia's not my girlfriend! I don't care about her!" Gray blurted.
It was really more out of impulse than anything else, but he immediately regretted his words when he heard a loud crash from his bedroom.
"What was that?" Erza asked, a sword suddenly materializing in her hand. Lucy grabbed her keys, and both girls stood up and went to the direction of Gray's bedroom.
Oh, fuck.
Gray jumped in front of the two girls with outstretched arms, blocking their way. "Calm down! I'll go check it."
"No, you stay here," Erza said in that no-nonsense tone that would have normally made Gray freeze on the spot, if Juvia's life (and their secret relationship) weren't on the line. He grabbed her arm.
"That's my bedroom, okay? I'll check and you'll both stay here."
It all happened so fast. One moment he was holding onto Erza's arm, and the next thing he knew, she had escaped from his grasp and was heading towards his bedroom just as Lucy turned the knob...
"Stop!"
"Gotcha!" Lucy yelled as she barged into Gray's bedroom, the requip mage right behind her. Erza's eyes darted from the bed to the closet to the tightly shut windows, like a predator looking for its prey. Lucy pulled back his messy sheets and opened his cabinet with a vigor that he seldom saw in the woman. Why does she look so excited?
There was no trace of any living creature anywhere.
A wave of relief washed over Gray when the two women stopped rummaging around his room. Still, he couldn't shake off his worry as he thought of his girlfriend. Did she just manage to hide so well? Or was she attacked? Just the thought of someone laying a hand on Juvia made his stomach turn to knots.
"How could this fall for no reason?" Lucy wondered aloud as she picked up the intact plastic lamp on the floor right beside the bed. She also sneaked a peek under the bed, making Gray's heart thump loudly. But the frown on her face as she got up made it clear that she didn't find anyone there, either.
Sighing loudly, Gray said, "Alright, show's over. No one's here, so get out of my room and let me fix some stuff here." Erza and Lucy exchanged quick glances but didn't resist when Gray pushed them out of his room and slammed the door.
Alone at last, his eyes swept across his disheveled room. "Juvia, where are you?"
"In here, Gray-sama."
A small puddle leaked from under his bed, materializing into Juvia's body. She's safe. He pulled her up towards him.
"Great thinking. I really thought they're gonna catch us. Are you hurt?" Gray asked as he inspected her body. She didn't seem hurt or anything.
"Juvia's okay. She was just caught off guard so she accidentally toppled your bedside lamp." She smiled, but one look at her despondent eyes showed that it wasn't as simple as that. Something was bothering her.
"Was it... because of what I said?"
Honestly, Gray didn't mean anything by it. Saying that Juvia wasn't his girlfriend and that he didn't care for her that way had always been his default defense whenever he was being teased about her. And now it became a habit that wasn't easy to shake off.
When she didn't answer, he sighed. "Come on, you know what I said wasn't true. I just said those things to get them off my back." He captured her hands in his. "I'm sorry."
Smiling at him, she replied, "Juvia understands. Gray-sama should go outside, or Erza-san and Lucy-san would get suspicious."
She still had that forlorn look on her face, which reminded him of how much convincing he had to do when he first bared his feelings for her.
"Juvia's sorry for doubting you, Gray-sama. It's just that he has denied Juvia's love for so long that she finds this all hard to believe. What if she wakes up one day and realizes this isn't real?"
That was when he realized that even though Juvia took his rejections in stride, his words still cut her. He then promised himself to treat her better, not just in actions but also in words.
Even if she was the only one who heard it. She was the only one that mattered, anyway.
Gray moved his hands to her cheeks, cradling her face as they locked eyes. "Hey, you know me, right? You know how I really feel about you?"
Juvia nodded, but he knew the doubts still lingered.
"I love you, Juvia."
And even though he had lost count of how many times he already told her that, her eyes still shone with the same sparkle they had back when she heard those words for the first time.
"Juvia loves you too, Gray-sama."
He gave her a gentle kiss, which would have been perfect and magical were it not for a low grumble coming from Juvia's stomach. She giggled. "Sorry. Juvia's starving."
Gray opened his drawer and handed her a couple of candies. "It's the only edible thing I have here now, but I promise I'll make them leave right away so we can eat together, alright? Just stay quiet." He stole another quick kiss from his girl before he left, careful not to open the door too much.
He found Erza and Lucy huddled together on his couch, keeping their voices low as they talked. When the celestial mage noticed him approaching, she cleared her throat and said, "Hey Gray, are you feeling better already?" She walked towards him and caught his face between her hands, turning his head whichever way and inspecting his body as if looking for some wound or scratch or something.
That was weird alright, but he decided to shrug it off and just focus on the task at hand: kick his annoying friends out of his house.
"I'm good. Get off me," he answered, swatting her hands away. Moving right between the two girls, he draped his arms over their shoulders. "You know, I really appreciate your concern over me, but I can handle myself." He started pushing them towards the door. "I really, really, really want to rest a bit more though—" just a few more steps and he could already reach his front door—"so please leave."
Just when he was about to open the door, the redhead spun around and glared at him. "Hold it. Why are you so anxious to kick us out of your house?"
He froze. "W-well, I told you I'm okay already..."
"Are you sure?" Lucy said, facing him as well. She placed her hand on his forehead and pulled back immediately. "You're burning up!"
"No, I'm not."
He couldn't understand why they kept walking closer and closer to him with an excited look in their eyes. Taking huge steps back until he was almost right outside his bedroom door, he felt like a small kitty getting cornered by two hyenas.
Two crazy, vicious hyenas.
"Perhaps we could give you a sponge bath?" Lucy purred.
"Oh yes, just like when we were kids. I'm sure it'll make you feel all better," Erza added.
"What the hell is wrong with you two?!"
Before Gray could make a run for it, his bedroom door slammed open and a furious Juvia swooshed past him, pinning the two women to the opposite wall.
"LOVE RIVALS!"
But instead of getting scared by the dark aura coming from the water mage, Lucy clapped her hands and let out a delighted squeal. Erza, on the other hand, looked like she had saucers for eyes as she stared right back at the girl glaring daggers at them.
"I knew it!" Lucy yelled. She pointed to Juvia, then Gray. "You two..."
"So, the rumors are true..." Erza muttered to herself, still not believing what she was seeing.
Gray sighed. There was no use hiding things now. And he better do something before his girlfriend water slices two of his best friends.
"Alright, fine." He walked towards them and pried Juvia away from the two girls. "Juvia and I, we're together. Happy?"
That seemed to snap Juvia out of her jealous rage as her head whipped towards Gray. "Gray-sama?"
Lucy let out another squeal, cheeks pink with giddiness. "It's about time! But—" She punched Gray's bare arm.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"You didn't ask! It's not like I can just blurt it out in the middle of a conversation!"
"Of course you can!" Another punch. "How can you hide this huge thing from us? If Natsu hadn't told us, we wouldn't even know!"
"Natsu-san?" Juvia asked. "Did Gray-sama tell Natsu-san about us? Gray-sama told Juvia not to tell Gajeel-kun," she pouted.
"I didn't tell him, I swear! Why the hell would I tell that idiot about us?"
"Natsu overheard you talking to Juvia on your lacrima," Erza explained as she straightened her blouse and skirt. "Believe it or not, he was able to put two and two together and figure out that you two were dating."
She then narrowed her eyes at Gray. "And of course, it helped that he heard everything, Gray."
Juvia turned a bright tomato red, her hands flying to cover her mouth. Gray blushed, remembering the nights he spent during their last mission sneaking out of his and Natsu's tent, calling Juvia in secret just to ask her how she was doing. His flush deepened as he also remembered the not-so-innocent conversations he shared with Juvia when he thought everyone was asleep.
Damn that dragon slayer's hearing!
"There's just one thing I want to know," Erza said in her serious tone, which made both Gray and Juvia straighten. She cleared her throat. "Juvia... Gray didn't... forcefully take your flower, right?"
Gray, Juvia, and Lucy all turned as red as Erza's hair. Even Erza looked like she wanted to withdraw her very suggestive question as she couldn't stop the blood rushing to her face.
"Do you really have to ask, Erza?" Lucy whispered, her eyes fixed intently on the floor, finding it interesting all of a sudden. "I mean, just look at them..."
Gray gave out an indignant "Hey!" while Juvia literally had steam come out of her ears as she tried to cover her burning face with her hands. Thankfully, she had the presence of mind to wear Gray's boxers before storming out of his room, although Gray wasn't sure that the sight of them—him wearing only his boxers and Juvia wearing his clothes and not hers—could salvage their situation.
"W-well, o-of course I had to ask!" Erza reasoned amid her embarrassment. "I know I taught Gray how to respect women, but if he took advantage of Juvia in any way, I would—"
"Calm down, Erza-san," Juvia said, regaining her composure as she touched the requip mage's arm to try to diffuse the sinister aura starting to emanate from her. "Juvia swears that Gray-sama has been nothing but a gentleman to Juvia."
"Yeah, how could you even think I would take advantage of Juvia?" Gray asked, slightly offended. "We're both consenting adults and we know what we're doing!"
"And I am glad to know that." Erza firmly patted Gray's back, and he thought he was going to cough up blood from the impact.
"So..." Lucy teased, poking Juvia's cheek and smirking. "You two are doing it, huh? You owe us details on our next sleepover, Juvia!"
"Lucy-san!" an embarrassed Juvia exclaimed, once again burying her scarlet face in her hands. Lucy laughed, mumbling something about finally not being falsely accused of being a love rival anymore.
Now that everything was out in the open, Gray cleared his throat and hollered, "Okay, now that we're all good, can you leave us alone now?" He escorted the two girls towards the door once again, and this time, they complied without any protests, finally leaving the couple to their much-awaited alone time.
Gray slumped on his couch. "I'm sorry about all that, Juvia."
"It's not your fault, Gray-sama," Juvia said as she sat beside him and rested her head on his outstretched arms, Gray instinctively pulling her closer. "The whole guild would most likely know about Gray-sama and Juvia before this day ends."
"Yeah."
Juvia sneaked a peek at Gray. "Is Gray-sama okay with that?"
"Well, it's bound to come out sooner or later, right?" Gray answered nonchalantly.
"Juvia is sorry."
Gray looked at his girlfriend, surprised to see her looking a bit down, fiddling with the hem of her shirt. "Why?"
He barely caught what she whispered. "Juvia knows Gray-sama doesn't want anyone to know."
And then, it hit him.
Taking her hand in his, he lifted her chin with his other hand so that she could look at him. "Did you seriously think I'd keep you a secret forever?"
When she didn't reply, he continued. "It's not that I didn't want anyone to know. I just didn't want to make a big deal out of it, announcing it and everything. I thought it would come out naturally, like people would just notice. And I certainly didn't want them to find out this way," he said as he gestured towards their half-naked forms.
Juvia giggled. "Gray-sama probably should not have called Juvia during his mission."
"As if you won't call me," he smirked.
"Juvia just didn't want Gray-sama to miss her too much," Juvia said as she nuzzled closer to him.
"Is that so? But I clearly remember a certain someone jumping into my arms the moment she saw me and telling me how much she missed me."
"And she definitely heard a certain someone say that he missed her, too," Juvia retorted, eyes gleaming at him. "He couldn't even get his hands off Juvia..."
"Hey—"
Juvia shut him up by pressing her lips on his for a long, loving kiss. When they finally went up for air, Gray whispered, "How about we continue where we left off earlier?"
"You mean our late lunch?" Juvia asked innocently.
"Not hungry." But just as Gray said that, his stomach grumbled.
"Oh, really?" Juvia cocked her eyebrows. "Come on, Juvia's hungry, too." With that, she dragged him towards the kitchen, leaving no room for complaints.
Gray let Juvia lead the way, watching her hair flowing down her back like soft ocean waves, all the way down to her long, flawless legs. He smiled.
"Alright. But I'm having you for dessert."
A/N: This came out WAY later than I expected. It was one of those stories that started out really good in my head, but the actual writing process turned out to be a pain in the neck. Now I'm just embarrassed to tag this as Gruvia Week 2021 because I'm more than a month late, lol. But I still would because I'm shameless like that, haha.

What is Love
Tumblr media
Pairings: Hinata X Reader
Words: 1.3K
Summary: Hinata knows nothing about love, but his heart constantly wants to jump out of his chest and his hands can't decide between sweating and shaking so that had to mean something.
Notes: This was literally a short story I wrote for class that I turned into a fic lol hope it worked
Masterlist // Ko-Fi
Hinata knew nothing about love.
He knew a lot about volleyball, but it turned out they didn’t correlate.
He’d been watching Disney movies with Natsu for years though, so he felt like he should have been an expert. Except, his feelings couldn’t be described with a magic carpet ride, dancing in a forest, or even two lions singing with a weird amount of sexual tension. No, being around you felt way more intense than all that.
It felt like his heart constantly wanted to jump out of his chest and his hands couldn’t decide between sweating or shaking so they just did both. There was this weird itch under his skin that wouldn’t go away until you were within reach and the amount of times he’d received a ball with his face because of how often he daydreamed of you was becoming absurd.
He would daydream about touching you a lot, especially while staring at you in class. In the way where he wished he was holding your delicate hands as they rested on your desk. Sometimes he wished he could feel your heartbeat under his fingertips, desperate to know if it ever beat as fast as his when you were together. He even longed to run his fingers through your soft hair, dreaming of laying your head in his lap after a long day of practice and spending your free days together. Doing nothing and everything and just existing together in the same space.
One day he caves and goes to the only two people he can think of for advice.
“You’ve come to the right place,” Noya says, patting him on the back confidently. “If anyone can help you get a girlfriend it’s us.”
“We are the lady experts around here.” Tanaka nods, stroking his chin with a cocky smirk.
Hinata nods while tossing a volleyball between his hands, hoping the distraction will calm the anxious rhythm of his heart. This will be the first time he actually voices any of these issues. “So, how did you guys know you loved Kiyoko?”
Nishinoya’s eyes go wide and his hands shoot up defensively. “Whoa, that’s a big word there buddy. I don’t know about-”
“The moment I saw her.” Tanaka smiles dopily. “I proposed on the spot.”
“You what?” Noya panickedly turns to Hinata. “Don’t do that.”
“But how did you know?” Hinata furrows his brow, frustrated Tanaka’s been hiding such important information.
“I don’t know. She just came into the gym and it’s like everything clicked into place.” Tanaka turned away with a far off look in his eyes.
Hinata and Noya both tilt their heads in confusion. Hinata didn’t understand him at all. Things never made sense when he was around you. If anything you’d thrown his world completely out of whack.
“Did that help?” Noya raises a brow, uncertain now that he understood Hinata’s problem.
Hinata told them it had. Which wasn’t a complete lie he realizes as he biked home over the mountain. He learned that love was something complicated, with more questions than answers, and that he may never get those answers. But he also learned that he kind of doesn’t care if it means he gets to spend more time with you trying to find them.
Once he entered his third year, Hinata’s love for you had become as easy as breathing. The butterflies had dissolved into warm familiarity rather than abrupt nervousness. His chest no longer ached when he thought of you, but he still found it pretty hard to breathe when you smiled at him. He had become familiar with the warmth that enveloped him when your eyes met and fond of the casualness that developed within your gradually built friendship. Sometimes it wasn’t enough, but most of the time it was everything.
Unfortunately, as it turned out, Hinata was pretty easy to read, so only everyone knew he loved you which didn’t matter unless you found out. It wasn’t that he didn’t want you to know, but more that he was scared once his feelings were out they’d get annihilated because you were beautiful and intelligent and a million times out of his league. He just wanted to keep you as close as possible for as long as possible.
Sometimes though he lets himself hope. When your eyes linger a little too long during class, when your fingers card through his hair during late night study sessions, or when you open your mouth to say something only to eventually close it and refuse to acknowledge whatever was on the tip of your tongue. It was moments like those that had him imagining what it might be like to kiss you, at least once, or maybe just hold your hand knowing you felt the same way.
There was nothing different planned for tonight. He’s invited you over to ‘study’, but really it was another lame excuse to spend time with you. Usually you’d accuse him of slacking off, which you’d be completely right about but he’d deny, then you’d likely give up trying and play games or watch a movie with him. But tonight you’re completely silent, eyebrows drawn together and lips pressed into a thin line.
“Is something wrong?” He asks, which makes you visibly tense.
“No, it’s just… Yes. Actually, yes..” You say. There isn’t any animosity, but instead you sound… nervous. Which makes him nervous.
“Are you feeling sick?” Hinata asked hesitantly. He needed to fill the air with nervous chatter because confrontation made him uncomfortable.
“Look,” You sighed, looking up exhaustedly at him. “I’m not stupid.”
“Well, duh,” he raised an eyebrow in confusion. “Did someone say you were?”
“No, I just-” You pushed the few books that laid in between you and shuffled closer to him. Hinata’s face lit up a brilliant shade of red when you invaded his personal space. “I’ve been waiting for you to do something Hinata and I--I can’t.”
“Do what?” Hinata tilted his head.
“You seriously can’t be this dense.” You roughly grab both of Hinata’s cheeks in a sort of cradle that sends his heart into a frenzy. He’s itching to place his hands on top of yours, but he balls them up into material of his shorts instead.
“I kind of am, yeah.”
Your eyes scan his face. “You’re looking a little red.”
“My room’s a little hot.”
“It’s winter.”
Hinata can’t cock his head to the side like he wants to because of the hands holding him still. You should know by now Hinata is dense and slow to pick on vague hints. If you want something from him you’ll have to tell him straight out. “(Y/N) I don’t know what’s-”
“Why can't you just tell me how you feel?”
It hits Hinata like a semi-truck and he feels the heat rush to his face. You knew.
“Well,” he stumbles over the right words. Any words. “I just… didn’t think it was important.”
“How is that not-”
Hinata scrambles to cut her off. “I didn’t want to ruin this and make you uncomfortable. I just wanted things to stay… how they are. I thought things would get weird, so I just… didn’t.”
You’re glaring at him and it’s exactly what Hinata didn’t want.
“You’re such an idiot.”
Hinata isn’t given much time to argue before you’re pulling him toward you to seal your lips together.
It’s not great. There aren’t fireworks like every Disney movie promised him. It’s sloppy, wet, and teeth where Hinata assumes teeth shouldn’t be used. It’s honestly the least romantic thing Hinata has ever experienced. But it’s you.
So, it’s perfect.
“I’ve thought about this for years.” Hinata whispers between gentle kisses.
“Me too.” You smile against his lips, trying to sneak another kiss before he pulls away astonished.
“You what?” He grabs your shoulders desperately. “If you knew why didn’t you say something?”
“I thought it was obvious,” you try to explain. “I thought you were waiting for a reason.”
“I’m not that smart.” Hinata smiles then rests his forehead against yours. “I love you.” He says, finally. It’s a weight off his shoulders and it feels so right.
You open your mouth, and he notices you fumble for words. He kisses you before you can say anything because you know. He finally told you.
And that’s enough.

[Image Description: A screenshot of a reply from a user named @mickybloginb379 . The text written is, “Miya Twins as foxes and maybe Fox Kita too? Kita finding Shoyo first and repeatingly visiting which leads to the Twin’s getting curious, and circling around shoyo’s legs at the same time :)” End ID]
I got carried away OTL. This may have been influenced by me watching too much NatsuYuu
Hinata was not pleased with this situation.
Pressing his back to a a withering tree, his eyes darted around as a shiver passed through his body. The graveyard was quiet, although the tranquility that some found when cleaning the tombstones was evidently not present within Hinata.
A breeze broke the eerie stillness, sending a few leaves aloft, which then skittered across the ground whence gravity recalled them. Hinata whimpered a bit.
“I just need to clean up the grave and place and offering. Clean and offering. Clean and offering...”
“You can’t clean a grave from behind a tree.”
Hinata screamed, backing further against the tree, the bark digging into and scratching his skin through his shirt. “Wh-Who—Ghost?!”
From the white robes to the silver-and-black hair, the guess wasn’t unfounded.
“Nope.”
Hinata could’ve cried from relief.
“Are you lost?”
“N-no. I think....”
It was clear as day that the other was unamused by his momentary incapability, rolling his eyes and grasping Hinata’s wrist softly to tug him away from the tree. Hinata’s cheeks burned. Despite his mild mortification, he felt a wash of gratitude flood him.
Eventually, Hinata was stood before his father’s grave, and his palm was pressed snugly against the silver-black haired person’s. Their fingers loosened their clasp, but didn’t unwind fully, not until Hinata heard the jingle of bells and a breeze brush his side, his hand suddenly empty.
And then, with another gust and another jingle, the other returned, a broom and dustpan firmly in his grasp. “I’ll bring something to clean the headstone with. Sweep the ground, for now.”
Hinata really shouldn’t have been surprised that this person was supernatural, honestly. His features were far too serene and eyes too present for him have been just a normal person around his age, after all. Not that Hinata knows very many normal people.
The two of them cleaned quite efficiently, and the other, introducing himself as Kita Shinsuke, even brought incense for Hinata to light. Hinata offered him some of the food his mom had made as the offering for his father, but Kita said it wouldn’t be right to eat it if it wasn’t intended for him.
“Then if I make you something, will you eat it? I wanna thank you for your help! You really saved me today!”
“I’d be willing to eat what you make, although I won’t say I like it if it doesn’t taste good.”
Hinata smiled determinedly, “I’ll make the best lunch ever, I promise!”
Kita, despite his strong inclination of doubt, couldn’t help but smile back, albeit nearly unnoticably.
Kageyama was thankfully not home for the first five attempts at making Kita a lunch box, although he did bear witness to the latter half of them, which was still unfortunate. Hinata’s mother would have scolded him, but she and Natsu were too busy speculating about why he was making the lunch and occasionally strolling in to assist him.
“It’s done!” Hinata cried after the twelfth try. Kageyama dutifully kept his mouth shut, for once, eyeing Hinata’s hands and steering the redhead to the bathroom to clean up.
“Kita-san!!!!” Hinata called out to the cemetery, his bright aura dispelling the eeriness of the location. “Kita-saaaaan!!!”
“You shouldn’t shout in a place like this. It’s rude,” Kita murmured, his hand settling over Hinata’s mouth. “Will you behave?” The redhead nodded, and Kita slowly removed his palm. “So, what’d you need?”
Hinata proferred a box wrapped with a yellow cloth dotted with cats. “I brought you lunch, like I promised!”
Kita looked a little taken aback, and Hinata wondered if he was imagining the way Kita’s hair seemed to twitch. “You remembered?”
“It was only like, two days ago! How could I forget? Especially when Kita-san saved me from ghosts and stuff—”
“—That didn’t happen. There wasn’t a single ghost—”
“—it’d be ungrateful of me if I didn’t make good on my promise!”
Kita’s almost couldn’t handle watching Hinata break out into a grin. His eyes felt strained, like he was staring directly into the sun, and yet he couldn’t bring himself to look away. Softly, he let the corners of his lips push up, and he accepted the box gingerly.
“Let’s eat elsewhere,” he offered, urging Hinata to hold onto him by the shoulder. He jumped, one foot landing before the other onto a hill of long grass overlooking flower fields. A forest stood off to the right, and a single tree sat behind them, providing a bit of shade.
Hinata wasn’t quite prepared for the sudden transport, stumbling to his knees before gazing around in wonder.
Kita helped him up. “It’s pretty, isn’t it?”
“Yeah!”
Eventually the two of them settled to the ground, Hinata watching anxiously as Kita opened the lunchbox.
Kita paused, observing Hinata’s jitters. “It’s not poisoned, is it?”
He shook his head, Kita breathing a chuckle.
“It was a joke. Thank you for the meal.” His hands pressed together in a momentary prayer, and then he lifted a single octopus-hot-dog-weiner to his mouth. Hinata watched him intently, and Kita knew before it hit his tongue that Hinata put in a lot of effort when making the meal. Just that info made it delicious, but once he’d swallowed it, he eagerly sought more, trying some of the riceballs and vegetables on the sides. He saved the fruit for last.
“Is it good? Do you like it?”
Kita nodded serenely, offering an octodog to the redhead. Hinata immediately latched on and slid the octodog out from between the chop sticks. Kita had to avert his eyes, only to spot the bandages wrapping Hinata’s fingers and parts of his palms.
“You’re hurt.”
“Oh, yeah! I accidentally chopped my fingers, and burned them. I stopped hurting myself as much after the fourth try, though!”
“How many tries did you take?”
“Twelve!”
“Sounds like you wasted a lot of food,” Kita commented. At that, Hinata pulled a pouty smile on his face that was a bit too adorable to not gain amusement from, though Kita consoled him with a ruffle of his hair.
They descended into a comfortable quiet.
After ten minutes, which. Kita almost wished could have been eternity, Hinata tugged on his sleeve. “Will you let me make you lunch again?” He mumbled, looking up through his lashes.
“I smell food.”
“That’s just because you’re a damn glutton.”
“What was that? You wanna say that again you bastard?”
“If I’m a bastard then so are you!”
Fists flew, the sound of fighting accompanied by shouts and grunts. Kita stepped in just as Osamu bit Atsumu’s calf and Atsumu yanked his hair.
“Why is it that every time one of you speaks, it comes to this? Do you find amusement in wasting your minimal energy on healing injuries that could have been avoided?”
The twins’ ears flattened against their skulls, their big, dejected eyes ineffective against Kita’s bland disposition.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry.”
Kita breezed past them, starting up the electric kettle to prepare himself some tea.
Osamu and Atsumu perked up at once.
“Your steps are bouncier,” Atsumu piped, at the same time as Osamu commented, “You smell like food.” They then made eye contact with each other and pointed, simultaneously saying, “Oh hey, you’re right!”
The two small fox spirits proceeded to prod at him endlessly regarding his seemingly ‘good mood’, and the tiny smile he had as he batted them away seemed to only fuel their suspicions.
“Woah... Tsumu, he’s got more energy, too.”
“Yeah, it’s radiating!”
They likely absorbed some of the stray energy coming off him, growing a little taller. Instead of looking like toddlers, they now were the equivalent size of a six year-old human. It was almost strange to see them this way.
Kita didn’t let his confusion show on his face, though his tail swished slightly, enough to peek out of his robes. His ears also raised off the top of his head, finally, twitching as he considered where the extra energy came from.
Was it the lunch?
“Kita-san, what did you do? Did you eat someone?”
“No, I don’t do things that I don’t let you two do.”
The twins seemed to communicate with just eye-contact, and it was one of those rare occasions where Kita couldn’t quite decipher what they intended to do with the information they had.
Hinata always felt antsy during the moments Kita prayed--just between the “Thanks for the meal,” and the first bite he’d take of the food Hinata prepared for him. This time, Kita brought with him a small snack in exchange for Hinata’s.
“You’ve gotten better,” he commented after a swallow. He always wiped his mouth between bites instead of licking his lips, meticulously keeping the tissue folded in a particular manner. “I think the fried rice could use a bit more salt next time, though.”
“Ah, thank you! I’ll remember that!”
It felt like an escape to spend time with Kita, somewhere far away and unknown. Like a secret retreat, away from all of the other supernatural beings that he contracted, and away from the stress of school and tests and life. Hinata felt like he got more chipper than usual after their picnics.
Unbeknownst to Hinata, the same could be said about Kita. They’d only meet once or twice per week, and yet the silverette couldn’t always keep his smiles at bay even days after their lunches. Furthermore, the surges of extra energy from the meals helped him keep a better eye on his troublesome junior foxes, even allowing them to ‘age up’ when they’d latch onto him.
Speaking of those troublemakers...
“Did you hear that?” Hinata asked him, peering over at a spot in the long grass. “I think someone’s there.”
Kita sighed, brushing off his pants and preparing to grab his companions and send them home. However, before he could begin to walk over, Hinata was crouched in front of the patch where the twins hid, smiling at them disarmingly.
“Are you two lost?”
The silverette joined him with a hand on his shoulder.
“They’re not lost, don’t worry. They’re with me.”
Hinata grinned at them. “You’re Kita-san’s friends? Nice to meet you!”
Their eyes widened just a bit, tails swishing.
Kita knew it was inevitable that the twins would get interested, but he should’ve known that it was going to happen much sooner than he’d have ever hoped.
Days later, Hinata presented two extra boxes, one with a silver-blue wrapping and the other with a sunset-gold. “I’ve brought some for them, too. The little foxes.”
“Atsumu might not eat it,” Kita warned, “Although if Osamu eats first, then he’ll probably get hungry and give in.”
“Which one’s which?”
Kita’s eyes gleamed. “I’ll let you figure that out.”
The twins did not come to spy on them this time, but Kita dutifully brought the lunchboxes to their cabin once Hinata left. As expected, Osamu dug right in, and Atsumu held out as long as he could before giving into his competitive nature. The twins choked on the food in their efforts to finish eating before the other (Osamu won), but when they finished, their bodies were at the approximate age of 13.
Even more impressive than that, though, was that they remained older for a lot longer than they usually do with extra energy, reverting back gradually over the course of a few days rather than the standard overnight regression.
If Hinata’s cooking alone could produce such results, then what would a contract do? ...What would his blood do?
Kita closed his eyes and banished the thoughts before they could fully manifest.
• Part 10 of (?) •
• I really liked writing Kita. I feel like he’d actually really like Hinata, since Hinata’s always been really hardworking and puts in all this effort to be better. I think Hinata would really like that Kita’s attentive and a good listener, so he could ramble endlessly if he wanted and Kita would be content to listen. •
• Also, anybody curious as to why Osamu and Atsumu ‘age up’ and ‘revert’ to a younger state? •

A Matter of Timing (Jerza)
Read on FF or AO3
Erza felt that Jellal had the uncanny ability to always reach her side just in time. So the fact that now of all times is when he decides to be late is quite amusing to her. Or the fic where Jellal is late to witness the birth of not one but two of his children.
“Why don’t you rest for a bit? Today’s been very tiring for you.” Makarov made a motion for Erza to lean back onto the bed. She complied with his request but her eyes did not stray from the tiny bassinet near the bed.
“Did Warren manage to reach him?” She reached out to drag the bassinet as close as possible to the bed and she relaxed when her two sleeping babies entered her line of sight.
“Yes. Jellal is trying to get back as fast as possible. It doesn’t help that the client is being difficult.” Makarov gave an angry huff. “Mirajane is asking other guilds if they’ve worked with the client before filling out a letter of complaint to send to the Council. The client’s request was out of line and should have never been given to the guild.” What had been a simple escort mission that should have finished in two days had turned into a complicated mess. She didn’t know all the details and all she really cared about was that it had taken her husband away from her when she needed him most.
Erza bit her lip. It wasn’t entirely the client’s fault. Jellal had been reluctant to leave her side, especially this late in her pregnancy, and was initially going to refuse the request but she had insisted he take it. It was rare for clients to request Jellal’s aid as there were still some people who weren’t convinced he had earned his pardon. After several assurances that she would be fine as members of the guild would be on hand to check on her and that there wasn’t much to worry about as her due date was a month away, he left for his mission.
She knew something was wrong when he didn’t call home to check in. He always checked in, even if a mission was only going to take a day to complete. She felt he did that to remind himself that he had her to come home to now and that the life they’ve built together is not a dream but a reality.
Makarov had sent Meredy, Erik, and Sawyer to go to the town the mission was located in and everyone was unsettled when they were able to send a quick report back that the town was surrounded by a barrier that blocked people from entering and from communicating with those outside the town. They were positive Jellal was inside though as Erik had been partially able to hear Jellal’s thoughts. It had been a week since that report and the unease in Erza’s gut hadn’t settled.
It wasn’t uncommon for missions to run into complications and to take longer than usual but ever since Erza and Jellal had gotten together, they rarely, if ever, took long missions. Erza hadn’t ever thought of herself as a clingy person before but the fear that the universe would find a way to tear them apart again had her seeking shorter missions so she could quickly return to his side. She knew he felt the same and that the fear would never go away.
A whimper from the bassinet broke her out of her thoughts. She looked over to see one of the babies with a disgruntled look on his face which quickly went away when she reached out a hand to stroke his face to calm him. She softly smiled when the baby quieted down and turned to face his brother. She hadn’t had the time to process the shock of twins as her mind had been completely distracted by the pain of labor.
“I have to say, Erza,” Makarov’s voice was hushed but filled with warmth, “You and Jellal have made some adorable children.” He peered closer into the bassinet and said with a laugh, “Even if they did come rather early.”
She blushed. She knew he was referring to the fact that twins were born earlier than singletons but a part of her knew that he and the rest of the guild still made jokes about how quickly Erza had gotten pregnant. She and Jellal quietly married soon after her team had finished the 100-year quest and settled into a modest house on the outskirts of Magnolia. A few weeks later, they had found out that Erza was pregnant after she uncharacteristically burst into tears in the guildhall after Natsu had made a remark on her strange new eating habits. After seeing Porlyusica and breaking the news to the guild, everyone made sly remarks about now knowing why the two of them were never at the guildhall anymore but it didn’t distract from the sheer joy Jellal and Erza radiated at the prospect of starting a family.
“I’ll go inform the rest of the guild that we now have two new Fairy Tail members.” Makarov began making his way to the door. Only he, Wendy, and Porlyusica had been in the infirmary with her and she had refused to allow anyone else to see her children before Jellal did. She was surprised that none of the members had tried to force their way inside and figured that they were all behaving for once. Though it could also be that they were still terrified of an Erza ruled by pregnancy hormones. “Warren might have some more news on where your husband is.”
“Thank you, Master.” Erza gave a small bow before sitting back on the bed. Wendy had healed her earlier but she was still absolutely exhausted.
“Please get some rest, Erza. You know Jellal always finds his way back to you,” Makarov said before leaving. Though Makarov had tried to reassure her, Erza’s worry would only disappear once Jellal was by her side. The silence in the room only served to remind her that he wasn’t.
She turned to the bassinet and remembered what had transpired only a few hours ago. She’d endured many painful experiences in her lifetime but nothing could have prepared her for the pain of childbirth. It had felt worse with Jellal’s absence though her tears of pain had turned to tears of joy once her children were placed in her arms. Their hair shared the same shade of blue as Jellal and when they had briefly opened their eyes earlier, she saw they had her brown eyes. After briefly being looked over by Wendy and Porlyusica and declared perfectly healthy, they slept peacefully in the bassinet and hadn’t woken up since.
“Your father is running a bit late,” she whispered to the twins. “He’s usually not like this. He’s much more punctual than I am.” If Erza was to compare all her failures, she knew a majority of them were caused by her tardiness.
She had been too late to save Jellal from being brainwashed.
She had been too late in figuring that Siegrain and Jellal were the same.
She had been too late to stop Jellal from casting the self-destruction spell.
If she had been on time, maybe she could’ve spared them all the heartache. Whereas, Jellal’s timing, in her opinion, was much better.
He had arrived on time to save her from the dragons during the Eclipse Gate fiasco.
He had arrived on time to help liberate Hargeon Port from the Alverez forces.
He had arrived on time to save her and Wendy from Acnologia’s attack.
She knew if she were to tell these thoughts to her husband, he would disagree and insist that in the end, all that mattered was that they saved each other. That their mismatch in timing wasn’t something she should be concerned with and if anything, it meant they balanced each other out. Having a confident Jellal that was so positive about their future together was something she was still getting used to and reminded her of their time at the Tower, back when he was a bright-eyed boy and she a lost and confused girl who looked to him for strength. They’ve grown and changed since then but they were still quintessentially them and she was infinitely grateful that they found their way back to each other.
“I guess it’s only fair that he’s late this time since I’m so early. He can’t always be perfect,” she amusedly remarked. She recalled the few times a drunk Lucy and Levy had told her how lucky she was for having such a perfect husband and had wisely refrained from telling them all the stupid things Jellal has done.
She was content to just stare at her children until he arrived and she perked up when she felt the trace of his Meteor spell outside the window. He must’ve sped past everyone in the guild because in the next moment he was opening the door.
“Erza.” His eyes quickly looked her over before they were glued to the bassinet in front of her. From where he was standing, she knew he couldn’t see the babies. She felt the uneasiness in her gut disappear as she scanned him from head to toe and saw that he was alright aside from the minor cut on his forehead.
“You’re here.” She wanted to get up and go to him but she didn’t have the energy. He seemed to read her mind as he went to go wash his hands in the sink near the door before quickly making his way toward her. When he was close to the bed, she rushed into his arms and he held her tightly.
“I’m sorry for taking so long.” She didn’t realize she was trembling until she registered his hand running up and down her back to soothe her. “Are you okay?”
She pulled herself together and nodded. “I am now.” She leaned back and pressed her lips to his in a kiss that she hoped would convey the sheer mess of emotions that rattled inside of her since his departure. She ended the kiss before it could get out of hand like it usually did when one of them came back from a mission and muttered, “You missed a lot. Come meet your children.”
“Wha--” She laughed at how speechless Jellal was at seeing not one, but two babies in the bassinet.
She reached out to take his hand and gently stroked his palm while she explained. “Wendy kept hearing echoes of a heartbeat but didn’t think that could mean I was having twins. She’s really sorry about making the mistake and offered to babysit them whenever we want. We should probably take her up on that offer sometime. I’ve been told that twins are a handful.”
He grabbed both of her hands and stared at her with tears streaming down his face. She would never get tired of being able to see the love that shone freely from his eyes. “Erza, I…thank you,” he choked out.
She felt herself tearing up as well. She murmured, “I should be saying that to you.” They stared at each other for a few moments longer, hearts full of gratitude and love. They had taken a long and painful road to get to where they were now but it was fine as it brought them here. “Do you want to hold them?” she asked, freeing a hand to wipe the tears from his cheeks. He nodded and she arranged his arms in the correct position to hold them.
Once she safely deposited both babies into his arms, he whispered, “They’re so small.”
She rearranged the babies’ blankets, making sure they were covered and warm, and said, “Porlyusica said they’re the right size for twins and for being born early. They’re healthy as well so there’s nothing to worry about there. And it’s a good thing we couldn’t decide between those two boy names because now we can use both.”
He chuckled, probably remembering when she would spend a whole day declaring one name to be perfect for their child before deciding the next day that the other name was the better choice. “I do love that they have my hair color but I kind of wish they had yours.”
“Maybe the next one will.” Though Erza had grown up with the guild and Jellal had grown up with the people at the Tower, they had still largely kept to themselves and basically grew up alone. They decided they wanted a large family and that their children would never know what it was like to be alone and unloved.
“I’m still sorry I was late and missed everything. I promised to hold your hand forever at our wedding, remember?”
“I think I would’ve broken your hand. Labor was awful.”
“It would have been worth it.”
She hummed in agreement and looked down at the babies who had begun to squirm in Jellal’s hold. “Besides, you weren’t late at all.”
He gasped as the twins both opened their eyes to see their father for the first time.
“I think our sons will agree with me and say you came back like you always do, right on time.”

Read it on AO3 here
Chapter Word Count: 1.5k

Summary: Fuyumi wants nothing more than her family's safety. Its all she's ever wanted since she was a child, for her mom and brothers to be able to live freely and happily. There was a time, when she was very young, about 12 or 13 where she thought that somehow the whole family could find a way to live in peace. That they could all be a normal, happy family again, but after Touya's death she realized the truth. That could never happen. And she knew who was to blame. Ever since then she's been working and scheming to right the wrongs that have been done to her loved ones, and even helping others along the way. However, when walking the fine line of what is and isn't legal lands her in deep trouble she is faced with painful reminders of the past and must challenge her own morality.
Chapter 1: Capture
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” a raspy voice taunted as a man with long, unkempt, pale blue hair and the driest skin Fuyumi had ever seen on a living person walked into the room.
“You must be Shigaraki,” she greeted in reply, a mockery of her usual polite tone painting her voice as she sneered at the notorious villain.
The man just humphed before looking down at the captive woman, “And what’s your name?”
Fuyumi leveled a cool, steady gaze at her captor, “I go by Frostbite,” her tone was level and calm, but left no room for debate, a tone very similar to the one she often used on her students.
“I don’t care about code names, I want to know your real name,” Shigiraki pouted. If the man didn’t have the ability to disintegrate her with a single touch it would have been amusing how much like her students he was.
So instead of laughing she instead raised an eyebrow and shot him an unimpressed glare, “Too bad, I’ll tell you my real name if and when it becomes relevant,” she knew it was risky taunting him while in arms reach, but she knew showing weakness was worse. Power-hungry maniacs tended to have more respect for those who refused to back down in her experience.
“I think it is relevant, I need to know who was trying to overthrow a faction of my army!” Shigaraki persisted, beginning to anxiously claw at his neck.
Fuyumi frowned, “Well, you’ve got the wrong person, anyhow, if that’s what you want,” she protested, “I wasn’t trying to overthrow anything. At least not anything to do with you or those Liberation nuts. I was just looking for something,” she explained calmly, if a little indignantly. Honestly, if they seriously grabbed her for a fucking misunderstanding she was going to scream.
“Really? Then why come so far out of your usual territory? Why go blatantly rampaging around asking about us and the drugs Overhaul developed? You weren’t really subtle, girl,” he hissed, shoving his prematurely wrinkled face in hers.
She resisted the urge to freeze him where he stood in frustration before responding in a calm, placating tone, “I am looking for the quirk-erasure drugs that Overhaul supposedly developed but that has nothing to do with you other than you being a lead to getting them. This is something I’ve been working on for years, long before the League of Villains was formed,” she explained.
“Oh? But those drugs are pretty new. The permanent version has only been around for a matter of months,” he grabbed her throat keeping one finger raised, threat clear even as his voice tapered off.
“I know, those are a new addition to my plan, but it doesn’t change that my target has nothing to do with you. I’m not even after a villain at all, I’m after a pro hero. So there’s no reason to get upset, right now we’re on the same side,” she clarified quickly, anxiety spiking from the rough, clammy hand wrapped around her throat.
Shigaraki paused, lifting his hand from her throat before smirking at her, “We’re on the same side? The Queen of Vigilantes is going villain? Now that’s interesting,” he chuckled and Fuyumi could feel her stomach churn violently, “You aren’t just saying that to save your head, are you?” His taunting tone only caused her stomach to sour further, but she resisted the urge to flinch. Any sign of fear would only be used against her and make her response seem less genuine.
“I never said I was going villain, but I’m also not just saying that to keep my head. I’m really after a pro-hero and right now we are on the same side. We have similar goals. You want to destroy hero society, right? Well, I don’t entirely disagree with that. It at least needs massive reform,” she took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions before explaining, “Heroes are untouchable. Get a high enough ranking and you can get away with unspeakable cruelty no matter how well known that cruelty is… other heroes, the police, and the public will all rally behind the hero while his victims are silenced into submission… I just want to hold them responsible for their actions, starting with the biggest bastard of them all,” her voice trembled slightly in her anger so she took a steadying breath before continuing, “I guess you could say I align with Stain, even if I don’t agree with all of his judgment calls. Most of your members are followers of Stain, right?” She asked, meeting his crimson eyes.
He smirked, “I still don’t understand why Stain was such a big deal, but yes, most of my more trusted members at least were Stain fanboys… Are you looking to join us or something?” He asked, sizing her up.
“I’m looking for my freedom,” she shot back, struggling in the heavy chains strapping her down to the chair she was sat in for emphasis, before swallowing her pride and hesitantly adding, “and possibly some assistance. I really need those drugs, and judging by how defensive over them you are and the fact you guys attacked Overhaul immediately after his arrest, my lead on you was right. I just need one dose, you can keep the rest,” she tried to read the crimson glare giving her a calculating look but couldn’t decipher his thought process.
After a few moments that felt like hours, he finally spoke, “I’ll think about it. I’ll be back to talk it out further…” started to walk towards the door, before turning back to the captured vigilante, “I’ll make sure none of the Liberation freaks bother you so try to spend this alone time thinking about how you’d be willing to pay for that bullet,” his tone was taunting and menacing but he was honestly the least of Fuyumi’s worries.
She had no qualms spending her father’s vast fortune on his own downfall, she planned on destroying him anyway so money wasn’t really an issue. No, she was much more concerned with being stuck here for who knows how long. Not only was it going to be problematic if she didn’t show up at home before morning or, god-forbid, miss work, her costume included contacts to make her grey eyes appear blue (a pale, frosty shade much lighter than her family’s usual turquoise) and make her usual glasses unnecessary, so if she fell asleep or if it took to long for her to get out of here she was risking permanent injury without them laying another hand on her. She’d just have to try and stay awake, she supposed not much she could do about it with her hands encased in a metal cage. Still, being left alone in a dark room for an undisclosed amount of time was something that made her skin crawl, too many unpleasant childhood memories reflected this scenario just a little too closely. At least it didn’t automatically set off panic attacks anymore. Clearly therapy had been doing something. If only she could get Natsu and Shoto to go too.
Speaking of Natsuo, she was now very glad she had denied his request to tag along on her hunt for the quirk erasure drug. Ever since he’d found out about her life as a vigilante last year he had been trying to get more and more involved. She tried to keep him away from it, but now he’s known amongst the underground as Blizzard, her impulsive, short tempered sidekick. Not that she lets him join her on her patrols or missions often. His impulsive, hot-headed nature paired with his stubbornness made her extremely nervous for his well being. He had a tendency to run into unnecessary fights and where she was careful to disguise herself with a wig, contacts, and contour, Natsuo only opted for a ski mask, despite Fuyumi repeatedly explaining why that was a bad idea. She doubted he understood how high the stakes were, that they weren’t just risking death, but if their real identities were to be discovered or if they were to be arrested that they could lose their jobs, Natsuo could be kicked out of school and they’d both be thrown in jail, leaving Shoto to deal with their father alone again. They weren’t like most other vigilantes. They both had a lot to lose. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if he got himself hurt or destroyed his life due to something she let him do. Something she introduced him to. She just prayed that she got out before he realized she was missing. She knew he’d probably try to look for her, he may even try to drag Shoto into it if he was worried enough, and that was the last thing that needed to happen.
Hopefully, though, she’d be able to put all of this behind her. Hopefully, once she was done with Endeavor their family could settle back down, no longer having to live in constant tension and fear. Hopefully, she’d soon be able to retire from being a vigilante and just enjoy being a teacher and spend time with her loved ones. She just had to get those drugs and get back home. That’s all. She could do that.

Title. Before The Snow Falls, I Would Love to See You
Pairing. Hinata Shouyou x Fem!Reader. Very slight mentions of Yamayachi!
Summary. In which after two years, he’s finally coming home.
Warnings. Manga spoilers up to chapter 379. Super short, but fluffy. Title is a line from ‘An Early Winter Letter’ by the Korean poet Kim Yong-taek.
Being in a relationship with Hinata Shouyou meant being in a relationship with his love for volleyball as well. But when that love led him to Brazil, on the other side of the world of all places, Y/N had nearly gone ballistic.
Working around his tight volleyball schedule in highschool was one thing, but having to accommodate to him being in a whole different country was a whole different matter all on its own! Making a relationship work was hard enough with the other at your side, but putting an ocean between that bond makes it that much more challenging. Besides, Hinata had only grown the balls to confess to her long after their highschool graduation. Meaning when Hinata left for Brazil, they’ve only been dating for a few weeks, maybe a month or two at best. Preparing to fly across the world three weeks into their relationship was a minor setback, Hinata once said.
Though Tsukishima argued that the mere fact that they were actually dating deserves a recognition all on its own. “Like two lovesick idiots that were too blind to notice their mutual feelings for three years,” He said. (Hinata hates how Yamaguchi and Kageyama wholeheartedly agreed, feeling betrayed by his own friends for never telling him his feeling were requited).
And the beanpole was correct. Hinata took too long to confess and he couldn’t find it in his heart to blame Y/N, who was probably just as clueless as him. Had he sucked up the balls to do it literally anytime in his highschool years, then maybe having a highschool sweetheart would have been another thing he could lord over Kageyama (he’s only half joking).
Though at the end of the day, Hinata still confessed and his feelings were returned, or even better, she pined after him all of highschool too! (“Yeah, that’s not something to be proud of.” Yachi told him with pure sympathy in her eyes the night Hinata told her he confessed). And despite thousands of miles between them, his relationship with Y/N is still far stronger than Kageyama’s relationship with his stupid milk cartons. (God, he really needs to help that guy get a girlfriend).
Anyways, emotional whirlwind and memories over dating his dream girl aside, Hinata is finally coming home! Two years of texts, calls, and the few handful of weekend visits led up to this moment when Hinata, in all his sun kissed glory, can finally properly announce his homecoming to all those he’s missed while living alone in Brazil.
His mom, Natsu, the Karasuno boys, even Kageyama and Tsukishima (those slimy bastards), Yachi, and most importantly, Y/N. No longer does he have to crave her presence during the lonely nights, tossing and turning until Pedro yells at him to go to sleep. No longer does he have to wish he could slip into his cellphone where the pictures of them together has helped him survive long days spent without her. No longer does he have to worry about crossing oceans to have her in his hold again, because he’s finally coming home.
Hinata lets his excitement get the best of him and sprints towards the airport exit, where, lo and behold, he spots her standing in the crowd. Granted it’s easier to spot her next to Yamaguchi, who’s about six feet tall. Oh, and also there’s that hideous poster in his hand, which looks like the work of a toddler. He tries not to let out a laugh as he approaches them.
“Shou!” Y/N screeches, momentarily dropping the bouquet of flowers in her hands as she bolts towards him. Hinata simply laughs as he lets go of his bags in order to catch her in his arms. In one fluid motion, he tightens his hold on her back, supporting her legs that are wrapped around his waist.
“I knew you couldn’t keep it cool.” Yamaguchi chuckles as he watches the event unfold. Y/N sticks out a tongue from over Hinata’s (much broader) shoulders as she tightens her hold on her boyfriend.
“You’re not allowed to leave me, ever.” She pouts. Hinata gushes while Yamaguchi cringes at the couple in front of him.
“Wouldn’t even dream of it.”
“Okay! Let’s get out of here, I’m starving!” Yamaguchi exclaims, clapping his hands together before reaching out for one of Hinata’s suitcases. “There’s this ramen place that recently opened up, and I can’t wait to try it! Oh, Hitoka-chan said she’ll meet us there!”
“Did he ever grow the balls to confess?” Hinata whispers to Y/N after setting her down. She shakes her head ‘no’ and adds, “No, he’s much worse than you.”
“I can still hear you two!”
-
“Woah, Hinata, you got so tanned!” Yachi says upon arriving at the table. She sets her bag down in front of her before taking a seat beside one blushing Yamaguchi. “You look good!”
Hinata says something that can’t be understood, mostly because his mouth is full of food. Y/N smacks his arm for being gross, Yamaguchi proceeds to wipe down everything that was in the ‘splash zone’ and Yachi laughs at her friends.
“Ew, say it don’t spray it, moron!” Y/N scolds, taking a napkin and wiping Hinata’s mouth. The scene reminds Yamaguchi of his little cousin.
“It’s a shame Tsukishima-kun and Kageyama couldn’t make it.” Yachi sighs, reminiscing her highschool days. “It’s fine, I’ll see those jerks eventually.” Hinata responds, this time with an empty mouth.
“Ah! Speaking of, mind giving this to that Four-Eyed-jerk face for me?” Hinata reaches for his backpack and pulls out something shockingly pink and equally sparkly. All three eyes turn to the horrid thing he’s holding up so proudly, a ‘Rio de Janeiro!’ shirt that looks like it straight up got shit out by a unicorn.
“I -” Yamaguchi speaks up first, reaching for the shirt with trembling hands.
Yachi is the first to snap out of her trance, and giggles out, “I’m surprised you didn’t get one for Kageyama.” Hinata’s response is a shit eating grin, all while reaching in his bag for a matching shirt, this time a shocking shade of red. “First thing I’m doing in Tokyo is recording his reaction.”
Y/N gives him an unamused look, somehow not surprised at her boyfriend’s childishness. Hinata turns to her with a familiar glint in his eyes. “Y/N! I got you one to-”
“I’m shipping your ass back to Brazil if you so as much take that thing out.” Hinata gulps, shoving his hands back in his bag and nods his head vigorously. Their two friends laugh from across the table, reminiscing about the very familiar scene in front of them.
“Nice to know some things never change.” Yamaguchi lets out a dreamy sigh. Yachi simply nods in agreement.
“By the way, what’s your plan Hinata? What team are you thinking of?” Hinata’s mouth is stuffed, but Y/N pinched his thigh before he could even think of talking with his mouth full again. He swallows everything in his mouth and answers, “The Jackals!”
“Is there a particular reason why? Oh! Is it ‘cus Bokuto-san’s playing there?” Yachi asks.
“Wait really?!” Hinata’s leaning over the table, a bewildered look in his eyes. “Oh man! I didn’t even know that! I was just gonna go ‘cus they’re the best team holding tryouts right now!”
The pair, Yamaguchi and Yachi, once again look at him out of disbelief. “Wait, why does that totally sound like something you’d do?!”
“Because it is.” Y/N answers, not as surprised as her friends since she’s heard him blabber about this for the past month leading up to this day. Still, it was nice to see him get so excited for something.
“Yeah - and I, being the perfect girlfriend that I am, even did research on all the V.League teams and made a powerpoint about their strengths and weaknesses. And then this idiot tells me he already had his mind set on the Jackals because they’re the only team holding tryouts within the same month he’s coming home.”
Hinata fiddles with his fingers a bit, before speaking up, “Yeah, sorry ‘bout that babe. If you told me beforehand I would’ve checked out your presentation!”
“Then it wouldn’t have been a surprise!” Yachi and Yamaguchi simply watch their friends with smiles on their faces.
“They’re totally forgetting we’re still here.”
“Yup.”
The four friends finish their meal, heading out into the night and going their separate ways.
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow! I’m gonna go walk Yachi home!” Yamaguchi calls out. Hinata has a cheeky grin on his face and Y/N is making kissy faces while connecting her hands into a heart. These idiots are perfect for each other, Yamaguchi thinks to himself.
The two immediately halt their motions when Yachi turns around to say her goodbyes, fake innocent smiles adorning their faces. “See ‘ya next time, Hitoka-chan!” Y/N smiles, sending one more wink at Yamaguchi’s direction for good measure. Her and Hinata laugh as he flips them off the moment Yachi turns the other way.
“Ah, young love. Remember when that was us?” Hinata muses like an old man. Y/N snorts in response, “Yeah, I remember pulling all my hair out wondering whether or not you liked me back!”
Hinata chuckles, reaching for her free hand. “I think it’s safe to say that you were worth the wait.” Y/N blushes as he brings her hand up to his lips, placing a light peck on the back of her hand. God, the things this guy can do to her.
“Yeah, yeah.” She mumbles, a soft smile on her face as she’s finally all alone with the man she’s been missing for the last two years.
“Shouyou.” She calls out. He stops in his tracks, looking at her with those beautiful brown eyes. He looks back at her beautiful form standing under the street lights, and wonders how in the world he got so lucky with her. He notices her eyes are a little teary, and before he can voice his worries, he’s interrupted by a,
“Welcome home.” The sentence is simple enough, yet conveys so much emotion he just knew she’s been holding in this whole night. With his other hand, he cups her face and wipes away a stray tear with his thumb.
“I’m finally home.”
A/N. Another reupload! Originally meant to be a contribution to Hinata’s birthday, but either way, I love him. - chuu

Revealing my fic for The Reverse Bang by @ftguildevents!  It’s inspired by this beautiful piece by @x-thekid (seriously go look at it).  It was beta read by @oryu404.
Jellal has never been this far north, not even during his days wandering with Crime Sorciere. He’s never had a reason to.
His eyes stray to his left where Gray walks beside him. Jellal can see in the set of his mouth and the softness around his eyes that the ice mage is entirely untroubled even though the air around them is the bitter sort of cold that steals the oxygen from your lungs as you breathe.
Gray has his hands shoved into his pockets, but Jellal can tell by the relaxed lines of his shoulders that it’s from habit and not from cold. Plus, his coat- which is more for fashion than warmth in the first place- is open, exposing the shirt underneath.  He doesn’t think Gray can actually feel cold anymore.
Jellal watches his partner as they walk with only the soft squeak of snow under their feet to accompany them. It’s the sound of dry snow, the kind he has only seen before in the dead of winter, which falls on the coldest nights.
It should be dark here with only the stars and the moon to guide them. Jellal is used to the deep darkness of night far away from a city or a fire from the many nights spent outside as he traveled around Fiore.  But the silver light from above shatters into a million million pieces under their feet so that the world seems to glow faintly.
He almost feels as if he’s stepped clean off the earth and into another dimension.  Almost, he feels like an intruder, as his breath clouds the clear air and his feet disturb the smooth snow under his feet.  The chill of the air claws at his lungs and seeps into his bones as if it wishes to claim him for its own, to make him part of this place.
But, while Jellal might be an intruder, Gray is anything but. A poet might say that he looks like he rules the place but that’s not quite right. It’s deeper than that.  He is of this place. The silver moonlight on his skin, the white line of his shoulders against the stars, the darkness of his hair, every bit of him belongs here. Dizzying patterns of ice spread from his footsteps, not disturbing the snow, but complimenting it.
It was Gray’s idea that they come here, of course. After he was pardoned, Jellal had gone straight to Fairy Tail and to Gray.  While he waited for Gray and Natsu to finish whatever they were fighting about, he’d thanked Makarov and Erza for everything they’d done for him.
He hadn’t known what to expect when he talked to Gray. Their relationship up until that point hadn’t been on and off exactly, but there’s only so much a relationship can be when it’s forged entirely of stolen moments between battles and journeys.
“I’ve been pardoned,” he had said. “I’m free.”
He hadn’t said, ‘I’m free to be with you,’ because even though he wanted to, he didn’t know what Gray wanted. They’d whispered about the future together when they sat under the stars outside of Magnolia. But Jellal refused to be a shackle or chain. He’d happily follow Gray to the end of the earth, but only if Gray wanted him to. But Gray had smiled; every time Jellal saw that smile he wondered how he had ever thought Gray was cold and aloof.
He hadn’t expected Gray to come to him the next day and ask if he would go on a journey with him.
“I get it if you don’t want to,” Gray had said, and there was a tension in his shoulders that denied his relaxed poise and voice. “You probably just want to rest now that you don’t have the crown chasing after you. You’ve been wandering around for years. But… I need to get away for a while,  and I’d- well… I’d like it if you came with me.”
“Of course I’ll go with you,” Jellal had said immediately and watched the tension ease out of the other man’s body.
And he had. Gray had led them north, leaving Fiore behind. He hadn’t questioned the reason behind the journey; he figured that Gray would tell him when he’s ready. While he only knows bits and pieces of Gray’s past picked up from comments by both Gray and Ultear, he also knows what it’s like to have a past that’s almost too painful to talk about.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Gray’s voice brings Jellal back to the present moment.
“Yes,” Jellal says, but his eyes aren’t on the scenery, they’re on Gray, who’s looking away from him, across the field of snow towards the trees and mountains in the distance.
“I’ve missed this. It’s not that Fiore isn’t beautiful, but-” his voice trails off.
“There’s nothing like this.”
“Exactly.”
Gray turns his head to look at Jellal and takes a step so that they are close enough to touch. Jellal takes his hand, closing the distance between them.
“You’re cold,” Gray says with faint surprise as their hands meet, and Jellal laughs.
“It is cold,” he points out.
“I guess it is,” Gray says and he rubs the back of his neck with his free hand. “Sorry.  Do you want my coat? I don’t need it.”
“I’m fine,” Jellal says. He’s not in danger of freezing, and Gray’s coat wouldn’t fit him anyway. “Thanks though.”
He closes the distance between them to kiss Gray. It’s really only a brush of lips on lips, but the warmth of Gray’s lips against his chilled ones almost burns. When he pulls back, he’s greeted by a smile, and he feels warmer.
“Ever since you told me that you loved the night sky, I’ve wanted to bring you here,” Gray says quietly. It’s a quiet, fragile sounding admission, and Jellal tightens his grip on Gray’s hand.
Without looking away, Jellal tells him, “I’m glad you did.” Then he turns his eyes up to the heavens. They’ve come far enough north that the stars have changed their position in the sky.
“The sky seems closer here,” he tells Gray and his voice is quiet too. He pauses, his eyes on the stars. “In the tower, I used to watch the stars at night. They were so beautiful, but so far away… Unreachable.  I used to dream of being able to watch them without bars in the way.”
Gray squeezes his hand, “Now you can.”
“Now I can,” Jellal agrees, and there’s a small smile on his face. Before he can say anything else something green flickers at the edge of his vision. Immediately his attention is up, ready for an attack.  “What?”
“It’s about to start,” Gray says unhelpfully.  But Jellal notices the undercurrent of excitement in his voice.
“What’s about to start?”
“Look,” Gray says and points to the north.
A soft gasp leaves Jellal’s lips. The sky, which had been the empty blue-black of the night, is now shot through with banners of pink and purple and green. They seem to ripple slowly like silk dancing on the wind.
“Have you ever seen anything like it?” Gray asks quietly, wrapping his arms around Jellal’s waist.
Jellal can only shake his head as his eyes trace the pattern of dancing lights. Gray huffs a small laugh into his neck.
“Let’s sit for a while and watch,” Gray suggests, and Jellal nods. With a motion of his hands, Gray lays out a layer of ice so they can sit without sinking into the snow.  As they sit, Jellal turns his attention to Gray, who still has a smile on his face.  Jellal wraps an arm around the ice mage, letting his cloak fall over both of them.
When Gray leans into his embrace, the warmth that spreads through Jellal isn’t only from his body heat. Jellal rests his head on Gray’s and they sit in silence for a while. Jellal’s eyes trace the dancing motion of the lights in the sky. The snow reflects the light of the aurora, painting their whole world in varying shades of green and pink. In the hush, there is only the quiet sound of their breathing to disturb the air, and Jellal can almost hear the quiet melody of the dancing sky.
He’s not sure how, but he can feel the shift in Gray’s mood as his silence becomes pensive. But Jellal doesn’t disturb him, he only waits to see if Gray will speak.
“Do you believe in absolution,” Gray asks him at last.
It’s a question that Jellal has asked himself at least hundreds of times when the weight of his crimes is bearing down on him, and he wonders if he will ever be free. Despite the years that he has spent trying to atone for his sins, all he can tell Gray is this: “I have to.”
Gray nods.
There are words he holds in his heart that he rarely has the courage to speak. But here, at the end of the world, there is nothing but the sky and the snow and the space between them and somehow it is easier to speak.
“I’m not sure that the guilt will ever go away,” Jellal says and his eyes are on the sky.  If he looks down at Gray, he might not be able to speak. In his mind, though, he sees the tower of heaven and the people he kept trapped inside. “I’ve done things… Things that I thought were unforgivable.  My sins have hurt more people than I can name.”
“But that’s not you anymore,” Gray says, and the ghost of a smile lifts the corner of Jellal’s lip.
“I could say the same to you. But what I wanted to say is that, even if there is no absolution, no escape from the guilt, there is forgiveness… Even for someone like me.”
“Forgiveness, eh?” Gray says and his gaze drops from the sky to the snow in front of him. But Jellal can tell by the expression on his face that he isn’t seeing the snow.
“There are two types of forgiveness, actually,” Jellal says and turns his eyes back to the sky. “The first is easiest; it’s when others forgive you. The second is the hard one because you have to forgive yourself.”
Gray makes a non-commital sound that is neither agreement nor disagreement, so Jellal keeps going.
“You didn’t know Ultear very well, but I did,” he smiles wryly, “or I knew her as well as anyone other than Meredy.”
“Are you going to tell me that she forgave me?” Gray asks, and there’s something that Jellal can’t quite read in his voice.
“Not exactly,” Jellal said. “She didn’t think there was anything to forgive you for.  She didn’t blame you.”
Jellal hears the air leaving Gray’s lungs.  His voice is slightly shaky when he speaks, “I-her mother. How did she-”
“I don’t know everything,” Jellal says.  “Ultear was a very private person. She saw her mother’s memories when she fell into the water off of Tenrou Island. I don’t know what she saw, but she realized that she had been blaming the wrong people.”
Gray shakes his head.  He still blames himself, and maybe he always will. Jellal didn’t expect to change his mind with one sentence. He knows how hard it is to let go of your guilt. They sit in silence again.  Jellal watches the stars and waits; he can feel that Gray isn’t done with the conversation.
There’s no way of knowing how long they sit like this. Time seems to stretch into infinity here in this pocket of the universe they’ve managed to claim for just themselves.
“Ultear sacrificed herself,” Gray says quietly, “and saved me.”
There’s an echo to the guilt in Gray’s voice in Jellal’s heart. But Jellal, like the others in Crime Sorciere, can understand her sacrifice in a way most people never will.
“Yes,” Jellal says, “she saved many people. It’s normal to feel guilty for living because she died. Sometimes I still do.  But you have to remember that Ultear did what she did because she wanted to.”  Jellal pauses again as he struggles to put words to the things he wants to say. “You asked me if I believed in absolution.  Ultear had struggled to and had started to believe that it would never come, but in her sacrifice, she found both absolution and happiness.”
The conversation lapses again into silence, but Jellal doesn’t mind the stop-start pace of it. It fits somehow.
“Thank you,” Gray says quietly.
“No need,” Jellal says and turns to face Gray.
Gray smiles and leans in to kiss him. It’s brief and then he is pulling away and standing up. He reaches out a hand to pull Jellal to his feet.
“No point in sitting around forever.  We’ve still got a while to go.”
Their eyes meet for a moment before Gray turns away, and Gray’s dark eyes shine with the reflected light of hundreds of stars.
Jellal had always loved the heavens.

Tejou vs Girl's Paradise
Propaganda is under the cut.
Tejou
hi. mod again one last time <3 i just like the little handcuff dance they do for this one theyre sooo silly stupid.

"You run your fingers over every part of my body and tease me with your touch".
(Source Unknown)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh God, those love bites. So many love bites that decorated the blonde's creamy skin like jewels; far too numerous to count that always sent a red-hot line fire rippling through her nerves with with every nip, every suck; each every and stroke of Natsu's velvet tongue. Plus, he's usually doing other things at the same time. Racy images of the couple's steamy moments together from the last soak flooded Lucy's mind.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Flashback
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The celestial mage's back arching of its own accord into Natsu's touch from robust hands cupping her breast; Blazing digits kneading the twin peaks in time with lips sucking along Lucy's pulse with so much skill that she couldn't help the heady moan that escaped her throat.
"Ya feel that, Luce?" Nastu growled in his princess's ear, the dark undercurrent of his territorial voice pulling a tingly shiver from her. "My marks all over that perfect body of yours— and not just the permanent one when you swore your heart to me . All of those are symbols of my essence, my claim, my love. That you belong to me and me alone. My mate and queen, forever and always. And those sounds you're makin'? Hot as hell."
Pretty sure, dude leaves marks on me as his way of announcing to the world I'm off limits as his mate. Explains why he's always quick to leave a fresh one in its place even after I cover them— not that I'm complaining. Plus, it's not only for his benefit but mine. It's great that he knows how much I love receiving hickeys and gets off from it.
Seriously, what more could I ask for?
Not to mention how lovely it always was to unwind with Natsu after each bath. The wizard was often keen in his offer to dry the blonde's damp hair with a towel or fire-magic-powered steam; from her perch on his lap or between his legs.
Much more relaxing than using a hair dryer if you ask me.
The dragonslayer would sometimes even hum or sing a familiar tune from days past in that appealing, gravelly baritone of his; would usually lull the already-zen mage into the world of dreams when combined with the sooth dual sensation of fingers combing through her hair, .
"I tell you, I tell you, the dragonborn comes ..."
Anyother guild member who might be eavesdropping, however, would often be quick to lightheartedly goad the blonde mage ( much to her chargin). Natsu no doubt would find this hilarious of course; which would serve for Lucy's cheeks to flush an even deeper shade of crimson than she already was.
"Say Luce, is that a blush I see?" he once crooned, a teasing edge to his words; though the affectionate mirth sparkling in his eyes warmed her heart just a little. "Aw, is my girl a little embarrassed? That's okay though— makes ya all the more adorable and endearing than you already are. You want me to make it all better? Cuz I can! Got plenty of kisses! Come on, you know you want some which I'm more than happy to give. God I love ya' so much, you know that?"
It's amazing really... Lucy ruminated in fond awe. How Natsu can switch between the different roles and sides to him with relative ease. From Romantic and tender to dominant, playful and affectionate; then back again on top of everything else all seemingly at the drop of a hat. All an innate part of his overall nature I guess— essentially what makes up who he is. Some people may find this a bit confusing to keep up with— but I don't. Just makes him all the more complex.
Though those people would also be right when they say that the dude still has a devious streak, she couldn't help but add with wry smirk. Even with me, though never with malicious intent. German suplex, non-stop tickling, dumping me in a tub of freezing cold water during one of our baths— too many pranks to count really. At least he's always quick to follow up with plenty of affection ever since we became an item— can't complain about that."
"You ready to get started Lucy?" Natsu's keen voice broke through Lucy's reverie.
"You know it!" The celestial mage chirped, unable to mask the pure enthusiasm in her voice; earning an amused chuckle from the dragon wizard . "Can't wait. I take it you'll be hoarding me for the rest of the afternoon?"
"Mhmm" Came his content hum in response." That really a bad thing, though?"
"No, definitely not."
"I figured. Why don't we get you up on that massage bed?"
"Sure thing!"
A buzz of anticipation was practically thrumming in Lucy's blood from such tantalizing implications of his words; the stunt Natsu pulled next , though— that was what really shot a thrilling jolt up her spine.
"Let's finish what we started later, yeah?"
The dragonslayer's proposal was punctuated by a light tap on the summoner's ass for good measure,; which resulted in a delighted squeal.
"O-okay!" was said female's response in the form of a breathy giggle.
"Let me get you that towel while I'm at it."
"Sure— thanks."
"My pleasure."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A Few Minutes Later
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ugh...do me a huge favor and burn this towel. Will ya?"
Lucy couldn't help but let out an audible groan along with the heat rising in her cheeks. Good god was the particularly moist spot on the white towel a truly mortifying sight to behold. Basically tell-tale remnants of liquid arousal that had been wiped clean from her legs just moments before.
Mavis only knows what would happen if Levy or Cana noticed during laundry duty.
" Okay... why though?" Natsu questioned, brows drawing together in mild confusion. "As in why do you want me to?"
"Guild Laundry day" came Lucy's automatic reply."That's why."
"Not following ya.' Natsu blinked owlishly in uncomprehension.
"Levy…..and Cana….." Lucy supplied, a finger twirling an errant strand of blonde hair in :a self-conscious display." "I... uh.."
"Still don't know what you mean here, Luce."
"It's their turn to do laundry duty." She attempted to break down what was apparently such an abstract concept into simpler terms; not able to help the aggravation rising in the back of her mind.
"Yeah? So?"
"They'll probably see the moist stain on the towel." Lucy clarified, forcing her voice to remain level.
"I see— don't see the problem though."
"Think about who'll most likely be with them ."
"Gajeel and Laxus but…...ahh—"
Realization dawned on Natsu's face. "I get it now. What you're saying is that they'll probably catch a whiff of your arousal? "
"Well, the lingering remnants of the scent anyway. Seriously though?" he tacked on, lifting a questioning brow."That's what you're worried about?"
"Yeah... I am," Lucy admitted, nerves leaking into her voice. "Aren't you?"
"Not really, no." Natsu gave a shrug of his shoulders—seemingly unfazed.
"Why's that?" Lucy couldn't help but shoot him a puzzled glance.
"Cuz it'll show everyone how much I rocked your world." Natsu replied, flashing his mate a cheeky grin. " And what's not to love about that?"
"Pervert — of course you'd say that!" Lucy screeched, skin flushing a deep shade of crimson.
"That's me!"
"Ugh, still don't know what to do about the moist spot— those four are never gonna let me live it down."
"You know if you're that worried, I could always use my tongue to clean ya up instead." Natsu drawled with a lazy smirk that set her heart all pit-patter .
"And of course, you'd suggest that," Lucy quipped with a slight roll of her eyes. "Did I mention how much of a horn dragon you are? "
"Yeah, but only for a certain gorgeous blonde of mine and she loves it."
"Oh, she does, huh?" Lucy raised a challenging brow.
"Yep. Don't bother trying to deny it, Luce".
"Ugh fine... you're right. I do. Seriously, you and your colossal ego though."
"Why, thank you! If you're impressed by that, you'd really should see my co—"
The rest of Natsu's words were cut off by Lucy's hand swatting him with a pillow which was met with a snicker.
"Pervert" Lucy deadpanned with another eye roll. "By way, you would've found yourself in the proverbial dog house if you actually meant the other kind of 'fighting earlier."
Only for Natsu's face to instantly fall in response to her statement.
"What?" Natsu objected, gaping at her with wide eyes. " And deprive me of the chance to wake up to your beautiful face each morning for that long?!"
"Yep." Lucy gave a nod by way of reply.
"But why? You know that's not the type of fightin' I met!"
"Well yeah, I know that now. But not earlier when you originally brought up. Just be glad that you didn't bail on our date earlier."
"I didn't though! And never would— honest Luce!" Natsu's voice lifted into a petulant whine.
"Hmm.. Okay, good to know. " Lucy responded, raising her hands to placate him. "Though you'll have to be without me for a few days anyway.
"Wait, seriously?" Natsu faltered , bewildered panic flashing in his eyes. . "Come on! What is it this time?"
"Camping retreat in the woods next week that Cana, Mira, Lisanna, and Erza are organizing— ladies only."
"W-ha?" Natsu continued to sputter, his poor brain no doubt short circuiting by now." But Elfman said that it was open to anyone who's free to go!"
"Really? Lucy mused in thoughtful interest. "That's not what I heard... huh."
"What am I supposed to do without you?"
"How about something fun with the guys? Should be nice, right?"
"Yeah, but so is spending time with you Lucy! It's always more fun when we're together like you said."
"And I don't disagree. Doesn't change anything though. The trip's still happening."
"Didn't say it wasn't but it'd still suck here without you! Natsu moaned, that desperate sense of longing bleeding into his voice. " I'd miss ya' too much! So would our little buddy! Can't we tag along? Maybe Even share an air mattress in a decent-sized tent? I'd gladly help set up and keep you cozy in my arms at night."
"What about Happy?" Lucy questioned, intrigued by his suggestion. His offer does sound really tempting.
"Obviously he'd share the tent with us but would have his own sleeping bag and could hang with Wendy and Carla whenever we wanted alone time. Plus there are all these cool spots I could take you to on nature hikes!."
"Sounds great."
"Course it is! So whaddya say? You onboard?" Natsu wheedled, flashing her what could only be described as the most flawless puppy eyes she'd ever seen.
"Aw that's really tempting and" Lucy gushed, heart contracting at the adorable pout he was throwing in too. Normally I'd say yes"— but it'll have to wait. Thank you though! I'd love to take you up on that offer another day."
"Oh come on— please I wanna go!" Natsu huffed, stamping his foot as if he were a child pitching a fit over being denied a coveted toy- quite an amusing display to say the least.
"Not this time I'm afraid. Sorry, them's the brakes."
"Lucyyyyyyyyy!" Natsu whined again, dragging the syllables of her name with such melodrama that she finally decided to let him off the hook
" Jeez.. enough with the dramatics already. " Lucy yielded with an exasperated groan, You can still come— the trip is for everyone. I was only kidding after all."
Said confession was met with a noise of stunned dimsay from from the pyro.
"Wait... so ya' mean to tell me that this was a joke?! he muttered, voice coming out with a small pinch of disbelief. "You were pulling my leg the entire time?"
"Yep— consider it payback for me making think you were gonna ditch earlier."
"That's why? That's not nice, Luce— not very nice at all." Natsu grumbled, though not with any real heat.
"Oh yeah, what are you gonna do about it?" Lucy baited, a daring lilt to her words.
" Oh —- wouldn't you like to know?" Natsu rumbled, eyes sparking in a such a calculating way that it sent a electrifying chill down Lucy's spine.
"I would— ngh! Nastuuuu!"
The rest of what Lucy was attempting to say Lucy's words were cut off by the lighting- fast sweep of Natsu's velvet tongue up her thighs . Not to mention that electric high-voltage jolt of ecstasy flooding her veins.
"There! that should show ya!" Natsu let out a cackle of glee. " Not to ever play dirty tricks on a dragon I mean. Guess you're not gonna need that towel after all, huh Lucy?"
"My God..."
"Yeah, I know . Just that amazing with my tongue, I guess. Natsu purred, voice laced with am indecorous promise "Plus, hearing ya' scream my name like that just gave me another hard-on that I'd love for you to see .. "
"Jeez … of course it'd would . and no real shocker that you would say something like that."
"Yep- you know me so well, Luce. and it's not like you're complain' anyway. Want me to prove it?"
" Maybe.. But God- you're such a pompous ass, you know that?"
"Yeah but all part of my charm, sweetheart."

A Tale from Thelua
I have always been scared of my own feelings. I am scared of falling and hurting. But I did fall, hard, and it hurt. So much that I ran away.
I have always been denying it. But for how long? How much longer did you plan on deceiving yourself? On tormenting yourself?
What a fool.
A Tale from Thelua
[25] honest
Golden hair brushed her cheek as the wind blew. Lucy tucked the strand behind her ears as she combed the rest of it with her fingers. Her hair that was once braided neatly was now let loose. It fell to her shoulder, down to her lap. The sight of her hair always reminded her of her father. Golden hair was the sign of royalty in Feliose, a prove that she was a part of the royal family and something she took pride in as she inherited it from her father the king. Often, he told her that she resembled her mother a lot, but she couldn’t deny that the brilliant shade of blonde and her brown, almost honey-colored eyes came from him.
Father, how are you?
She was back in her favorite hiding place – the bench beneath the wisteria arch. She had asked Wendy to return first as she had promised Lady Emma to return before the midday. Lucy should have returned together with her, but she managed to convince Wendy that she needed more fresh air. Fortunately, the girl didn’t inquire further so Lucy was freed from the guilt of making her worry.
It had been almost a month since she was married to Natsu. Yet within that one month, she never expected that there would be so many things that happened. Her marriage was one, but she didn’t know that she would be reunited with that man. And if only he had forgotten about her, then everything would be easy. But, sadly, that was not the case and things took a complete turn. Lucy blamed herself for not having enough conviction, for easily being led by him, for forgetting and losing her hold on her feelings.
Father, there are so many things that I want to talk about.
The sound of the palace’s bell rang throughout the palace, telling her that it was midday and that she should be heading inside for lunch. But her legs refused to move, and she was not feeling hungry at all. Millie, Agne, and Ange would flip if they knew she was skipping her meal and Wendy would give her an earful. But, no. She had no appetite at all.
Her gaze shifted to the pink flower on her lap that once tucked in her braided hair by Wendy. It was called camellia, the favorite flower of Her Majesty. The pink petals were resting atop each other, creating a beautiful arrangement. The color reminded her of her husband, and she chuckled lightly at the thought of how the flower would go well with his hair.
Suddenly, it was raining flower petals around her. Lucy blinked and raised her head in confusion and surprise, meeting the person who was standing in front of her without her noticing.
“Natsu?”
The man in question didn’t reply. A slight crease was apparent between his eyebrows before he closed his eyes and let out a small sigh. “You didn’t return with Wendy,” he said, sounding almost relieved, “I heard from Gray that you didn’t bring any escort, so I thought you’ve lost your way.”
His hand found hers, spreading warmth to her cold one. He bowed then placed a small kiss on its back – his lips lingered a beat longer than it should be. “Or kidnapped, perhaps,” he added in a quiet murmur.
But Lucy heard it, and as the hold around her hand got tighter, she reached for his head and patted him there. “I won’t be going anywhere,” she said with an amused smile, “and no men would dare to kidnap me with you as my husband.”
Lucy could feel his gaze on her hand. On the ring around her finger. As Lucy retracted her hand from his head, Natsu let go of her hand and proceed to sit on the ground, leaning to the empty spot of the bench next to her. He stared at her as he rested his hand on the bench and propped his chin on it. There was something in his eyes, she noticed, no matter how impassive his face was.
“Brother would,” he said, the eyes that stared at her gleamed almost dangerously.
Her smile faltered. She tore her gaze from him to the flower on her lap. “Yes, he would,” Lucy whispered.
Natsu glanced away. Lucy didn’t know how the slightest mention of that man could affect her that much. Natsu was angry, at least she knew that much. She thought it was fair as she has had her fair share of being angry at him regarding Lisanna. Yet, somehow, the thought of his anger pained her more than she expected.
Her hands made their way to Natsu’s, grasping his bigger hand slowly, almost hesitantly. “Natsu, will you listen to my story?” She asked. “About me and Zeref.”
The hand in her grasp twitched. Lucy waited for his answer, wondering what she would do if he didn’t want to hear it. Of course, she understood if he did so. It was understandable. But then, he nodded wordlessly, and his hand grasped hers.
“Two years ago, I met him several days before Feliose and Thelua’s conference was held,” she started. “He didn’t reveal more than his name and told me that he was one of the knights who was sent to guard the border, yet he knew my identity. From that on, we often bumped into each other around the city as I managed the conference preparation. He helped me a lot with things related to Thelua that I could not manage, and we became close.”
A stray memory of her talking and laughing with him resurfaced. A gentle smile, a gentle laugh, a gentle gaze, a gentle hug.
More memories resurfaced and each was replayed so vividly as if it was a memory just from the other day.
“The night before the conference was held, he confessed that he had something to tell me and we promised to meet again after the conference finished. Yet during the conference, standing behind Thelua’s representative, Lord Makarov, was him. I was informed that the best knight of Thelua would guard the representative, but I also knew his true identity as the first prince of Thelua. I thought of asking him when we meet later, but he never showed.”
No matter how long I wait, he never shows.
No message, no words, nothing.
As if he was gone.
“I missed him.”
She didn’t realize how that thought managed to slip past her lips or when the tears started falling down her face. She pulled a hand to wipe away the tears hastily when a gentle tug came from him, forcing her to return to the present, forcing her into him. She didn’t know since when he had been standing, but the hand that held hers never did waver. When her vision cleared and her sense returned, she was already engulfed by him, caged in his arms. Her hand hung limp on her side as she struggled to speak and failed.
The hand that held her still was warm and strong, but it felt safe. She felt safe, and relieved, and guilty, and mad but none of those feelings could be spoken. Tears continued to fall, dampening his clothes, and her shoulder trembled as she tried not to break into more of a mess.
Natsu had been silent throughout the time, she noticed. He had the right to be angry, she thought – his wife had just told him how she missed another man, after all.
“Lucy, Lucy,” he then whispered her name slowly.
“I’m sorry, Natsu,” she managed to say it in a choked sob, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
“No, it is not okay.”
“It is.”
“You must be angry at me, right?”
She felt the shake of his head on her shoulder. “I’m not.”
“Lie,” she retorted. “Don’t lie to me just to make me feel better.”
Natsu released his hold on her, wiped the tears gently and said, “I am angry, but not at you. It doesn’t count as a lie, does it?”
This man, Lucy thought, how could he not be angry at her? His eyes found her crying ones, gazing at her gently. When Lucy didn’t answer him, Natsu pulled her once again into him. “I’m angry at him,” he spoke quietly against the crown of her head, “for making you feel like this.”
Lucy wrapped her hand around his torso, clinging into him and pressing her face into his chest. There, the scent of cinnamon filled her. She liked it. It made her felt safe. And home. As if she belonged there.
“You still love him, don’t you?” The question came in a whisper, almost as if he didn’t want her to hear it. But she heard it, and she remembered the same question she once asked him. In fact, all of this was like a repetition of what happened that evening when he told her about Lisanna.
Back then, his answer was a straight affirmation, even if it was thickly coated with something akin to repression – as if he shouldn’t be feeling that way. But she…
“If this is what people call as love, then I don’t want to acknowledge it.”
Her grip on his clothes tightened, concealing the pain that crept inside her chest. For two years, she refused to acknowledge it, ran from it, denied it. No matter how many times the memory of him returned to her, she pretended that none of that mattered anymore. Her marriage gave her another reason to forget him; it empowered her conviction.
But it took only a smile, a glance, and a greeting from him to make it all crumble.
Love, she thought, wasn’t supposed to be miserable.
Love, she thought, was supposed to be warm.
“Tell me, Natsu,” she whispered, raising her head to see him. “How are you supposed to erase this feeling?”
There was something in his eyes that she could not discern. Like a burning fire, yet also gentle. “You will have to meet the right person,” he said, staring deep into her eyes.
“Have you meet her?”
He smiled, a genuine, heartfelt smile and her breath were hitched. Something was set aflutter in her abdomen and Lucy couldn’t help but lean into the hand that was touching her cheek gently. For some reason, she was not afraid of his answer.
“I have.”
For some reason, she wished that that lady he spoke of was her.
She closed her eyes, letting another tear fall to her cheek. “Who?”
“You.”
Lucy’s eyes opened, letting more of the tears she had tried to hold fell. His hand brushed past her hair and tucked some of it behind her ear. Onyx eyes met her brown ones – showing no hint of joke or amusement in there. His smile didn’t falter, and his voice was just as sure. Lucy closed her eyes once again, and the next thing she felt was a gentle pressure on her lips, warm and pleasant. Like home.
As if she belonged with him.

Call It Destiny
Category: Mild Romantic Fluff
Fandom: Fairy Tail
Characters: Juvia Lockser, Natsu Dragneel
Requested By: AwarenessBringer (FanFiction)
Clack. Clack. Clack. Juvia’s boots clunked over the wet brick as she slowly descended the steps of the Hargeon Town train station. The drumming of the rain was steady against her umbrella that she held primly over her head. She did not look up as two girls holding their small bags over their heads hurried past, complaining loudly about the fact that the rain had seemingly followed them the entire train ride; Juvia’s indigo eyes remained fixed on the countless puddles before her, transfixed and disgusted with the way the ripples bloomed across their sheer surfaces. The raindrops flew down endlessly in a constant stream that would be calming to individuals lounging inside their homes waiting for the rain to pass. Juvia almost pitied them, because they would be stuck inside a very long time at that rate. Until she left this town, the rain would not cease; that was the curse that she, the rain woman, wrought upon the world.
For once, however, Juvia could admit that her rain served purpose. The damp, wet atmosphere would surely suit perfectly to douse the fire of one Fairy Tail mage named “the Salamander.”
Juvia knew not how Bora came to calling himself that name. The last she had heard, he had been excommunicated from his former guild for the use of illegal magic and thievery. She also knew not why Fairy Tail, a supposedly upstanding guild, would hire him, unless he had somehow managed to hide his shady pastimes. Juvia was also not sure what had compelled her to come to Hargeon Town. Was she seeking revenge for the way he had so unceremoniously and callously dumped her? Was she here to reveal his nefarious nature for Fairy Tail to see, or, alternatively, reveal Fairy Tail’s shady underbelly to the world? Or even, was she here to see if all of this was just some vain attempt of his to upset her, by flaunting how successful he was while she was still alone and depressed? Perhaps none of them, or perhaps a combination of all of them. Juvia supposed that she would discover her reasoning once she was actually face-to-face with the man.
The streets were largely clear as Juvia strolled through them, thanks to the perpetual rain pouring from the heavens above. Her expression soured a little as she considered the possibility that the weather would drive Bora inside as well, which would make confronting him all the more difficult. As she paused in the middle of the street to articulate her next move, the drumming of the rain was suddenly overtaken by very furious slapping footsteps. The sound was coming from behind her; as she turned, leaning the umbrella back to get a good look at the perpetrator, someone zoomed past her at such speed that a wall of water was what was greeted her instead. She squeaked loudly as she was splashed with rainwater from head-to-toe; Juvia could absorb it and was more surprised than affronted. As she used her magic to do just that, there was a loud screeching noise, and she looked up to see a pink-haired individual rapidly back-tracking to stand in front of her.
“Whoa! Sorry about that. Didn’t mean to drench ya!”
Juvia had to admit, a faint blush rose to her cheeks from how absolutely stunning his smile was. It was so bright that she thought for a moment that the sun had actually come out and she instinctively looked up; however, the sky was still choked with ashen gray clouds, not a ray of sunlight slipping through the thick barrier. She glanced back down to see that he was now a mere few inches from her face, green eyes boring into hers. “Wait a second, where’d the water go? What kinda magic is that?!” he demanded with steam blowing out of his nostrils.
“Juvia is a water mage,” she answered simply. His pink eyebrows quirked before he nodded emphatically in admiration.
“Neat, neat! I guess it’s a good thing I splashed you instead of anyone else!” he laughed lightheartedly. It was then that she noticed that the man did not have an umbrella on his person and was just running about getting drenched in the rain. His salmon hair was plastered to his forehead, and water was running down his face in rivulets to drip down from his chin. His clothes were sodden and probably a few shades darker than they normally were.
“You’ll catch cold running around in the rain like this.”
“Nah, don’t worry about me,” he said while waving a hand dismissively. Juvia flushed darkly, for some reason very stimulated by the fact he brushed off the rain when everyone else she had ever known had griped about it being such an inconvenience. He doesn’t mind it… He then planted it above his eyebrows and because looking about wildly, squatting low to the ground as he inspected every nook and cranny in sight. “I’m on a mission, ya see, to track down this fella callin’ himself the Salamander!” From the way he was huffing and puffing, it was not because he was a fan.
“Juvia is also looking for this fire mage.” The boy straightened up like a rod to look at her with wide eyes. Another grin then split his face like a sunbeam.
“Really?! Well, why don’t we look for him together, then? Three pairs o’ eyes is better than two, yeah?” Juvia narrowed her eyebrows quizzically, but before she could call his intelligence into question, a pair of blue cat ears poked up over his broad shoulder. This was followed by the head of a cat and its paw, waving in greeting.
“Aye, aye! Let’s get looking, because the sooner we find him, the sooner we can eat!” He purred contentedly.
“It talks.”
“Yep! This is my buddy Happy, and I’m Natsu. You’re Juvia, right?” She nodded. “Great! Nice ta meetcha!” he chirped and grabbed her hand to shake it vigorously. His hand was warm. Incredibly so. Juvia felt the blooming sensation travel up her arm, like she was dipping it into a lovely bath. Natsu… Normally Juvia did not concern herself with others, especially when she had a specific mission in mind, but there was just something so… gripping about this young man. She gripped the fabric of her overcoat above her heart, feeling it flutter within. Juvia has not felt this way since Bora…
She was not sure if it was a portent of doom or an omen foretelling better days. Only time would tell.
“Let’s get going, shall we?” Natsu whirled on his heel to begin splashing along down the road, humming cheerfully. Juvia hurried to catch up to him and then extended the umbrella so that it would shield him as well. He was a bit taller than her, so she had to stretch her arms up to do so, and she was almost embarrassed at how quickly her biceps began to burn at the awkward angle. Regardless of what he says, Juvia does not want him to become ill because of her rain, she thought miserably. He looked down at her with upturned eyebrows. “You don’t have to. I’m okay.”
“Please. Juvia wants to share.”
“That’s really nice of you!” he smiled brightly. “That looks uncomfortable, though; lemme help.” She gasped lightly as he plucked the umbrella right out of her hands to hold it up himself. Juvia wasn’t used to not holding it, so her hand automatically slipped to clutch his forearm where it was bent at a ninety-degree angle; once she realized what she was doing, her face flushed tomato-red, but honestly his muscles felt so nice and defined under her petite hand that she shamelessly kept doing so. Natsu didn’t seemed to mind; in fact, he seemed pretty much oblivious to it. “That’s better, huh?” he grinned down at her.
“Aye, aye! Thanks for the umbrella, Juvia!” Happy sighed as he crawled up onto Natsu’s shoulder. He then proceeded to squat down and shake himself from the top of his head to the tip of his tail, splattering Natsu with raindrops. The boy jumped as they painted the side of his head and face.
“Hey, hey, hey, watch it, will ya?” he whined loudly as he tilted his head to try and shake the drops out of his ears. Juvia could not help but giggle at their amusing antics. They get along so well… “Yeesh… I’m starving,” Natsu whined all of a sudden and clutched his growling belly with his free hand. “I can’t wait to find this Salamander guy and then get some grub.”
“Do you know who he is?”
“Nope. All I know is he’s calling himself the Salamander. I’m hoping he’s my master, Igneel!” At the mention of his name, Natsu’s green eyes began to sparkle. He looked so overjoyed at the prospect that Juvia wrestled with crushing his hopes, but she did not wish to see him incredibly upset when he discovered the true identity of the fire mage.
“Actually… He is a mage named Bora.”
“What?!” Natsu stopped in his tracks to look poutily at her. “You mean we came all this way for nothing? Aw, man… And I was so hopin’ I would get to see Igneel again,” he griped aloud. Juvia looked down at her feet miserably. Should she have not told him?
“Juvia is sorry to have to be the one to tell you…”
“Nah, it’s okay,” he sighed deeply. She peered out of the corners of her eyes to see him rubbing his neck and smiling gratefully down at her. “I ‘preciate it. It woulda been a bummer to come all this way and it be just some random dude. I guess me ‘n Happy should grab some grub and then head back to Fairy Tail.”
“You are from Fairy Tail?”
“That’s right!” he snickered and turned to show off his bright pink guild mark on his upper arm.
“Then that must mean Bora is not a member of Fairy Tail.” As she had suspected, he was abusing the guild’s name to build clout. What could he possibly be up to? Juvia was busy considering the possibilities and did not notice that he had closed the distance between them again; after a second, her eyes registered his brilliant green ones centimeters away, and her face turned redder than ever.
“What? What’re you talkin’ about?”
“Rumor has it that Salamander is a Fairy Tail mage. Bora has been calling himself by this name. Juvia knows Bora well; he is not a very good man. He has gotten in trouble for many bad things…” Natsu’s eyes narrowed into sharp peaks as he stiffly straightened back up. His grip tightened so hard around the umbrella’s handle that his knuckles glared white and she feared the plastic may splinter.
“So that’s it, huh? Well, I can’t stand by while somebody is tarnishin’ our good name. I think this calls for an ass-kickin’, don’tcha agree, Happy?!” The cat trilled in agreement over his shoulder. “I’m all fired up now!” His grin was absolutely feral, but something about it filled Juvia with excitement. She barely knew him, but somehow she felt as if she could follow him to the ends of the Earth. Her heart began to pound wildly in her chest again, and despite her many wills, it refused to still.
Natsu…
“It is very good fortune that Juvia met you today,” she remarked with a tiny smile.
“Nah,” Natsu said nonchalantly. For a second her heart threatened to break at his dismissiveness, but when she looked up at him, he was smiling broadly. “I don’t believe in luck! Let’s call it destiny! When we’re done here, you should totally come back to Fairy Tail with me, Juvia!” he offered. Juvia’s eyes widened as she stared at him in shock. Juvia… Join Fairy Tail? Her fingers were twisting so hard into her overcoat that she felt she could tear the thick, cottony fabric. She was so… happy. Juvia could not the last time she felt that emotion so purely and strongly.
“Yes… Juvia will gladly come to Fairy Tail!” she cried and nodded emphatically.
“Great! Ass-kickin’ first, though.”
“Yes!”
~~~~~~~~~~
They tracked Bora to a cruise liner docked at the port. It took a lot of convincing to prevent Natsu from charging in fires-a-burnin’, but she managed to convince him to do so. Apparently, Bora had been seen courting a large group of ladies and they had all migrated onto the ship. Juvia had several ideas about why Bora would be so interested in women, and none of them sat well with her. One peek through the windows validated her concerns; throughout the dining hall there were woman slumped over tables or collapsed on the floor with half-finished drinks still in their hands. They were casually discarded as men in suits hauled them off into another room.
“Human trafficking…” Juvia murmured under her breath.
“What a buncha bastards,” Natsu growled in agreement. “I can’t stand by and watch this anymore!” Before Juvia could rebuke him, he punched through the window to charge into the room, bright fire alighting all over his arms. She cried aloud and looked around wildly, unsure of what to do, before she decided to hop into the interior of the ship after him. Natsu had already slammed the two lackeys into the wall to knock them unconscious and was now plowing through the wooden door breathing fire. “Come out, you asshole! I know you’re in here!”
“I would appreciate it if you stopped making a mess of my ship,” sighed a voice from behind Juvia. The two mages whirled on their feet to see Bora holding a squirming blonde by her wrists. As Natsu went to wind up for a punch, Bora clicked his tongue and jerked on the girl’s arm, making her wail in pain. “Ah, ah, ah. Wouldn’t want to have to break the pretty lady’s arm here. Why don’t you fizzle out for a second, yeah?” Bora sneered at Natsu before his eyes drifted to Juvia. They instantly narrowed in confusion. “What?! What are you doing here?”
“Juvia has come to put a stop to your villainy!” He stared at her, then snorted and looked back to Natsu.
“So, this your new boyfriend? He sick of the rain yet?” Juvia flushed bright pink and slapped her hands to her cheeks, bleating about how Natsu wasn’t her boyfriend at all, but froze in horror when he mentioned her rain. She looked at the fire mage in terror to see him staring quizzically at Bora. “Ah, haven’t figured it out yet, eh? This woman’s a curse. Makes it rain wherever she goes. It gets old real quick; that’s why I dumped her.” Juvia hung her head as she hugged herself. She couldn’t speak of for herself, but her mind was just melancholy echoes of No… Juvia is not a curse…
“You’re a real piece o’ work, you know that, asshole?” Natsu snarled. She peered back at him to see him slamming a fist into his palm, fire blooming at the area of contact. “What’s wrong with rain, huh?”
“Yeah! It makes all the flowers grow and it smells really nice and fresh~” Happy trilled with a wiggling tail.
“You said it, Happy! I’m sure there are plenty o’ people out there who would see Juvia as a blessing. So, kindly let me punch the snot outta ya for disrespectin’ her like that, okay?” Natsu hunched down, fist drawn back with fire swirling within, but Bora once again made use of his hostage. He did not expect the girl to have plenty of fight left in her, however, because once he was distracted by Natsu, she slammed the heel of her boot as hard as she could into his toes. Bora yowled in agony and let her go to begin bouncing around on one foot, while the girl snatched a ring of jangling silver and gold keys to hurriedly dash over and hide behind Juvia.
“I dunno who you people are, but we have to save all the girls on this ship!”
“We’re Fairy Tail mages!” Natsu grinned brightly. Juvia’s cheeks darkened as she smiled happily, her heart beginning to flutter again. She hadn’t even officially joined yet, but he was already acknowledging her as a comrade? The girl began screaming about how she wanted to join Fairy Tail too and that they were going to talk after Bora was effectively handled. Now that the girl was free, Bora hand no shield, and Natsu was rearing up for a big attack.
“Take this, ya scumbag!” Natsu’s chest suddenly swelled up as he breathed in deeply, and the two girls watched in admiration as he released a billowing white-hot flame from the pits of his lungs. “Fire Dragon’s Rooooooooar!” Just barely audible over the rushing of the flames was Bora’s high-pitched totally unmanly screaming as he was blasted through the hull of the ship and out into open water. Natsu snickered and wiped at his mouth, grinning at the large hole in the side of the cruise liner. “Well, that takes care of that.”
“You idiot! Everything’s on fire!” the blonde girl screeched and ran over to bonk him over the head.
“Who are you, anyway?!” Natsu whined, crouching down as he rubbed his bruised noggin.
“My name’s Lucy!”
“Um! Lucy! Please do not hit Natsu! And don’t worry, Juvia can handle the fire,” the water mage quipped suddenly before she scampered over to the gaping hole in the hull of the ship. She gathered some of the sea water below and surged it through the opening, splashing it over the flickering flames to quickly douse them before they spread too far. I will show Natsu that I am worthy to join Fairy Tail! She thought with glee as she willed the water about the room. She got a little excited, though, and three very loud complaining yelps indicated that she had accidentally drenched the others. She laughed sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck as Lucy and Natsu gave her thin-lipped glares. “Juvia is sorry…”
~~~~~~~~~~
They handed Bora over to the authorities and the drugged women were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment. Now, the three mages and Happy were sitting along the cobblestone wall overlooking the harbor. Lucy had related the tale of her own search for the Salamander and how she had ended up on the cruise liner and foiled Bora’s plot.
“This turned out great, huh?” Natsu laughed with a beaming smile. “Now I can take the two of you back to Fairy Tail with me! Gramps’ll be pleased.” His scarf swished as he hopped down off the wall and stretched his arms above his head. “He ain’t gonna be pleased about the property damage to the cruise liner that scumbag was renting…” he mumbled with lidded eyes. He then whirled around to point at the two of them. “Anyway! How’s about dinner, yeah? I’m starving after all that butt-whoopin’!”
“It wasn’t even a butt-whoopin’; you took him out in five seconds…” Lucy muttered under her breath, then smiled. “But, I’ve heard of a nice place in town. Follow me!” She hopped off the wall to begin skipping down the street with Happy flying (apparently, he could conjure wings, the strange little cat creature) behind her. Juvia jumped down from the wall and turned to follow when suddenly Natsu’s hand was extended out to her.
“You must be really happy, huh?”
“Oh… Yes. How could you tell?” she blinked. Ever since Natsu had offered for her to join Fairy Tail, she had possessed this floaty feeling in her body, and her heart had refused to be still. Juvia had been hesitant to call it love, since it had landed her in plenty of trouble in the past, but she also couldn’t deny that it was strongly familiar. Natsu cocked his head to the side as he scrunched up his eyes from a big smile.
“It stopped rainin’, you know?”
Juvia gasped and snapped her neck back to look at the sky. Sure enough, it was brilliantly blue and cloudless. Her indigo eyes shook as she beheld the thing that had been veiled to her for as long as she could remember. They filled up with tears that soon spilled over onto her cheeks, and her mouth twisted into a brokenly overjoyed smile.
“It’s… So beautiful… It has been so long since Juvia has seen the sky…”
“Juvia.” Her head slowly fell back down to meet his brilliant green eyes. In the back of her mind, she thought they complimented her shade nicely. “Let’s go. To Fairy Tail.” Juvia extended a trembling hand to slide it into his, and his fingers grasped on tightly. His hand was so warm and welcoming and kind. It had been so long since Juvia had felt such caring emotions from someone. She used her other hands to quickly wipe at her cheeks as Natsu lurched her forward, laughing animatedly. Her feet carried her onward, towards her new future.
Juvia thought for a moment that it was good luck she took the train to Hargeon Town, then corrected herself.
No, not luck… Call it destiny.
