Hello everyone! I am trying to make this story as short as possible, since I just want to feed my gruvia heart haha. So please don't be surprised if it's kinda fast-paced... I'll try to make this wholesome and relaxing. No drama (maybe). Might be cliche, but hey, why not?
Please don't mind the timestamps! They're not relevant to the story unless stated. English isn't also my first language so apologies in advance for the grammatical errors. Moreover, characters might sound a little bit ooc.
Lastly, I can tag you guys if you want to but I cannot promise that the taglist is always updated since all chapters are already queued.
Thank you for your support and I hope you guys will enjoy it!

I love the progression of Gray and Juvia’s relationship
How it started as Juvia having an obsessive crush and Gray just being annoyed
How it becomes increasingly clear that it’s more than a school girl crush and that Juvia has deep feeling for him, how she pays attention and learns as much about him as she can, how she’s deeply concerned about his safety and wellbeing
How even though Gray was annoyed with how public Juvia was with her love that he still saw her as a good friend and guildmate, how he wants to fight alongside her because they work so well together and how he protects and advocates for her because he still respects her as his guildmate and as a skilled wizard/ fighter
How he slowly warms up to her and starts showing his emotions that he never shows to anyone, how he recognizes the depth of her love for him and he realizes that he has someone who genuinely cares about him, how he comforts her when she’s worried
How he begins to deeply care about her and starts to open up to her and actually tell her that he appreciates her and values her, even if he isn’t able to say he loves her yet, how she stands by his side no matter what and waits for him, how he falls into her as he cries knowing that he can cry in front of her because she has become his safe space
And when he finally accepts his feelings for her and admits to them and shows them in front of his friends
ASDFGHJKL
I’m so obsessed with these two it’s ridiculous

This is the art of the century
I haven't been active in the Gruvia fandom lately coz I got a lot on my plate now, but I cannot not post this absolutely top-tier Gruvia Day art of our favorite couple making baby Greige (you can't change my mind).
Tumblr media
God, the Gruvia development is so awesome. Through the manga, chapter covers, and official arts, we've seen them go from enemies to guildmates to friends to situationship (that 6-month living together cannot be purely platonic lol) to admitting their feelings to going on dates to missing each other and finally getting naked to do their business *wink wink*. They even have 2 kids!
Haters keep on hating but we're sipping our piña coladas while watching our ship sail blissfully towards the sunset. 🤪
Big hug to all Gruvia stans, we deserve this and so much more!

Also let's keep in mind that Gray pushes away the people he loves the most. Just take a look at how much of a headache he was to Ur. He also finds Lyon annoying though he acknowledges him as a brother, and he always fights with Natsu even though they know they've always got each other's backs. That's why him being "mean" to Juvia makes sense when you consider his personality. And now that he stopped fighting his feelings for Juvia, we see all his repressed feelings spill out and he can't seem to stop declaring his love for her every chance he gets lol.
Like gray please stop playing these mind games!! And yes he is hard with feelings but it was annoying when he was ok with other guildmates doing somthing but get angry at juv for the same stuff. Anyways, i love gruvia and there development but sometimes i felt like wacking gray for some of his idiotic moments. and yes juvia over exaggerated sometimes but it was never her intent to make him uncomfortable she was mostly expressing her admiration for him, while he used some of that for his own gain
Yea I 100% agree with everything you said! Sometimes I wanted to jump through the scream and shake sense into Gray for how mean he was, but at the same time I wanted to have a serious talk with Juvia about being a little less aggressive with her love. But people seriously think that Juvia or Gray’s intentions were to hurt each other or anyone for that matter? No! If that’s what people think then maybe they don’t like Gray as much as they think (seeing that most of the hate comes from Gray super fans). Their development towards the end of the series and in 100yq is amazing so they both got a fresh start for building a healthy relationship which is what matters most!

My Thoughts on Juvia and Gray’s Relationship.
May contain spoilers for the anime & 100yq manga but I’ll be as vanilla about it as possible. This is a long one so get comfy.
A few years ago, I used to be upset at the fact that Gruvia took so long to happen. But now that I’m older and I’ve hyper fixated on the couple long enough, I’ve learned to appreciate their relationship for what it is now and for what it was in the beginning. From the start I’ve always shipped Gruvia but I never expected them to be together in the first place, PLUS I only shipped them because I honestly just liked the idea of them being together. Liking the idea of a couple and the couple actually being good together is two different things and I knew that. My initial thought was “how funny would it be if they actually got together”. Kinda like a gag if you will. But overtime I started to REALLY appreciate their build up. There are plenty of couples out there in popular anime who’s relationships parallel to Gruvia, (the girl or guy is deeply in love and the other party pays them no mind). But what I really hate about relationships like that is when they get slapped together at the end just to please an audience. If Mashima did the same thing, I could honestly say I probably wouldn’t be shipping Juvia and Gray to this day, but luckily for me and other Gruvia fans he did not go that route. People say that fans forced Gruvia to be canon which is just not true since FROM THE BEGINNING of the series, Gray was told by the fortune teller that he would be tangled up with a water woman in the near future. Plus the simple fact that their characters were designed to match each others (water and ice), Juvia is also a semi-yandere (I only say semi because Juvia won’t actually do anything to hurt Gray or the others she cares about) and Gray is a Tsundere. In the beginning Gray was honestly just a dick to Juvia, but that was more for comedic effect which me being a hard core Gruvia fan at the time, sometimes I didn’t appreciate. But now a days I really do appreciate the comedy between the two characters because I’ve realized there is a good balance between their comedy and the seriousness of how they actually feel about each other. You could even call Gruvia a slow burn but in my eyes the pacing is perfect and very realistic.
Tumblr media
Here are my thoughts on Gruvia from Gray’s perspective. Gray was pretty compassionate towards Juvia when they first met, even though they were enemies, Juvia of course gets love at first sight. As they get to know each other, Juvia’s love grows more and more intense and in Gray’s eyes it comes across as pushy. Though I personally saw her love for him being a “I see you need love, let me love you” type thing. He slowly (very slowly lmao) warms up to Juvia and they start going on jobs together and forming a close friendship, to the point where they would rather go on jobs together instead of with the rest of the team.
And then the plot starts to get a bit heavier and so does their relationship. Juvia and Gray have multiple occasions where they make protecting each other their main mission. But two particular scenes stood out to me in the last two anime arcs. Juvia sacrifices her relationship with Gray to do what was best for him, we all know the scene so I won’t go into details for the sake of time and spoilers. But in that moment that’s when I decided I didn’t ship them just because the idea was cute, I shipped them because they NEEDED each other. Juvia finally understood Gray and his history, while Gray not only understood his festering feelings for her BUT he got the closure he deserved of his family, all thanks to Juvia. Although there were subtle hints that Gray started to develop feelings way earlier on than this scene, THIS is when he knew for sure how he felt.
The last and finally scene that pretty much sealed the deal for them being my otp was when they both sacrifice themselves to save each other. **cries 😭** We got a full length scene of them damn near confessing how much they meant to each other. We all know what happens at the end of that scene, then Gray makes a promise to Juvia and that was to take her feelings more seriously. The thought of him loosing someone else he loved definitely shocked him into reality and broke that Tsundere spell that was casted on to him by the creators…well kinda. In the anime Gray eventually confesses his feelings in a round about way and I HATED IT! I just wanted him to lay it all out there on the table. But maturing is realizing that, that actually wasn’t the confession and that’s apparent in 100yq.
Although I would love for them to just be together already, I appreciate Mashima and Ueda taking their time with this couple and really putting emphasis on their shared character/relationship development. I also appreciate that we get this development through Gray’s perspective, it adds a bit more to them as a couple. In conclusion, I’m lonely and I want what they have. No but seriously I’m soaking up every bit we get from Gruvia! Since Gruvia days is coming up, I had planned on doing a relationship/couple analysis from Gray’s perspective but this honestly sums it up lol!

Gruvia Week 2018 - Day 03
Journey
Gray was having trouble with his tie.
“Here.”
Before Gray could stop him, Natsu swept in and took over.
“Your fingers are shaking too much,” he groused.
“Shut up,” Gray groused back. But then, after a moment, he added, “Thank you.”
“No problem,” said Natsu, actually smiling now as he gave one last tug on Gray’s pale blue tie and, satisfied, tucked the tails of it into Gray’s white waistcoat. Then he gave him a light backhanded smack on his chest. “Good to go.”
Gray let out a breath and then tugged at where the tie was looped around his neck. “Little tight.”
Natsu jabbed a finger at him. “Look, no stripping today, got it? At least not until you and Juvia are…you know….” Then he waggled his eyebrows up and down, grinning suggestively.
Gray punched his arm, though nowhere near as hard as he usually would’ve. “Stop that.” Unable to help himself, he lifted the dark curtain that hid him from view of the rest of the guild gathered to see Gray and Juvia tie the knot. Natsu peeked out too, spotting Happy with Carla and Pantherlily up in the rafters ready to sprinkle flower petals over the congregation when the ceremony started.
Then Gray let the curtain fall and shut out the view of the cathedral sanctuary, turning away as his nerves got to him again. “I think I might be sick.”
And then he actually felt his stomach lurch and something fighting to get out. He heaved and covered his mouth, but nothing came out. He made the same retching sound again when his stomach lurched the same way a second time, but still nothing came out.
“Gray?” Natsu dropped his usual wisecracking attitude and looked genuinely concerned, actually reaching out a hand to steady him.
“Dry heaves. Tsk, tsk.”
Gray looked up and saw Lyon and Gajeel had both ducked in behind the curtain.
“Don’t you dare make fun,” Gray warned him, before again his insides heaved like he was throwing up, but again nothing came out.
“Come on, Gray,” said Lyon, sounding sincerely encouraging. And he was the one who put a hand on his shoulder and managed to steady him. “You’ve come too far now to have a meltdown.”
“I’m not having a meltdown,” Gray grunted, clutching his stomach.
“Hey, don’t feel too bad, Stripper,” said Gajeel gruffly, hands in his trouser pockets. “Juvia’s nervous too, if that helps.”
“Not if she’s on the edge of throwing up too,” said Gray darkly.
“Dude, it’s gonna be fine,” said Natsu, seeing now that Gray wasn’t actually about to become anything like seriously ill. “Just breathe.”
So Gray breathed, and that seemed to help, as he managed to keep the sense of wanting to throw up at bay, and was able to stand up straight again. Seeing he was better, Natsu and Lyon both stepped back to give him his space, and Gajeel peeked out at the crowd like Gray had done earlier. Then he glanced at Gray.
“So what is it?” he asked. “Is it just the idea of getting married, or is it the fact that you’ve gotta be feelsy in front of everyone else in the guild? I know that’s not your thing.”
Gray considered Gajeel, Juvia’s oldest friend from Phantom Lord, and then he thought. “It’s definitely the second thing you said. As far as marrying Juvia goes….” He felt his heart beat a little faster at the thought. Then he massaged the back of his neck. “Agh, I dunno. Being called a…husband…it just sounds so…formal. But I do like the idea of calling Juvia my wife….” He swallowed, and before he knew it, he was smiling unabashedly. “I really do. I never thought I could want something so much, except for revenge.” He caught Lyon’s eye, and then Natsu’s, and they both nodded soberly, understanding where he was coming from.
Gajeel did the same for the same reason.
“But I do,” Gray went on softly. “I want it so much….”
Lyon gripped his shoulder again, and this time he was smiling genuinely. “And you deserve it…Gray.”
And Gray managed to smile back as his old foster brother released him. Then Natsu laughed and punched him on the arm, getting him back for when he’d been punched earlier.
“Hell yeah you deserve it!” he crowed with a grin.
“All right guys, think we oughta be gettin’ out there,” said Gajeel. “Gray?”
Gray nodded. “I’m ready.”
Gajeel grinned like Natsu and pulled the curtain back. “After you.”
Despite the pep talk, Gray’s knees still wobbled a bit as he stepped out from under the curtain and out onto the dais where an arbor of spring flowers had been put up. He managed to steady himself though as Natsu and Lyon joined him, Gajeel having gone back to see Juvia, since he was the one who would basically be giving her away. Or at least, he’d wanted to be the one to do it. Being married, it seemed, had made the bastard all the more sentimental.
A sea of faces all looked his way, and even though he knew and loved then all as his family, in the ultimate moment of being put on the spot, for a split second, Gray thought he was actually going to throw up for real, but then Mirajane started singing in a heavenly voice, and the doors to the cathedral opened.
Lucy, Erza, and Levy all glided in as bridesmaids, naturally, wearing matching gowns of blue, while the exceeds happily started to throw those flower petals like confetti. Even Lily seemed to be having fun with it.
And then, there she was.
She was beyond lovely, in a dress that reminded Gray of sea foam, glittering with beads like splashes of water in the sun. Her blue hair was extra curly, and threaded with more watery beads, her eyes equally as bright as she beamed his way, Gajeel’s arm hooked in hers as she clutched her bouquet of lilies. And though it didn’t necessarily matter, Gray was glad they’d managed to get this under way before Juvia had started to show too much, now that she was three months along in her pregnancy.
Nevertheless, Gray felt like he’d been punched in the chest again. Yet at the same time, he was beyond happy, and he realized then that he was going to cry today in front of everyone, and there would be nothing he could do to stop it. And actually, he really didn’t think he cared all that much.
“You lucky S.O.B.,” Lyon whispered in his ear.
“Shut up.” But Gray was positively beaming.
“But Ur and Ultear’d both be proud,” Lyon added, glancing sidelong at Meredy sitting with everyone else I’m the pews. She gave Lyon a little wave. “Your parents too.”
Gray found his throat too tight to answer then, though Lyon appeared to have figured as much as he gave a fraternal smile.
And then Natsu leaned in and said, “You did it, buddy. Way to go.”
Which made Gray give a small laugh, even as he felt himself about to break. “Thanks for that, flame brain.”
“Any time, ice princess.”
After that, he and Juvia only had eyes for each other as Juvia approached the altar and Gajeel relinquished his hold on her—though Gray didn’t miss the cautionary look Gajeel gave him as he stepped aside. Gray nodded back, letting him know he was well aware of what he was getting himself into.
Then he turned to Juvia as she stepped up to his level at the altar, and took her hands in both of his, heart pounding in his chest. Erza was holding onto the bouquet, and out of the corner of his eye, Gray caught her wink at him. You made it, kiddo.
He felt his face grow, if possible, even warmer, as he met Juvia’s eyes again. He was afraid he would get so nervous that his palms would start to sweat, but they didn’t. Juvia seemed equally afraid that that would happen on her side of things, but all Gray felt was her smooth skin, her lovely fingers entwined with his.
Though his pounding heart raced, effervescing his blood, his pulse rising, and even though he was blushing furiously, he didn’t run away. He swam in those fathomless, sea-like eyes of hers, as she beamed right back at him. And when he thought back to all those times he was about throw away his chance of ever having a moment like this, he felt like the biggest idiot in the universe.
At the same time though, it made him all the more grateful to have a woman like Juvia by his side, as well as all the friends in Fairy Tail he had known nearly all his life, and the people he had known before then, just after he’d lost his parents. People who all told him in their own way to keep on living.
So he said as much when it was his turn to say his vows after Juvia tearfully declared hers, stumble as he did over a good chunk of the words, as much as he choked on, “I love you,” because he was crying tears of joy before he could stop himself, because Juvia was crying tears of joy with him. Unable to help himself, he kissed the back of each of Juvia’s delicate hands, and the officiant marrying them barely got out the words, “You may kiss the bride,” out when he was already catching Juvia’s soft sweet lips in his.
Surrounded by the roar of applause, cheers, and whistles, when Gray and Juvia broke for air, Gray wrapped his arms around his new wife and pulled her close, pressing his tear-streaked cheek against hers. He felt her return the embrace.
“Now it’s you and me,” he whispered in her ear. “Does that sound good?”
Juvia squeezed him gently, burying her face in his neck same as he was doing with her. “Sounds great,” she said, giving a watery laugh.
“I agree.” He gladly pressed a kiss to the hollow of her neck, taking in the way she smelled of rain, finding himself eagerly waiting for night to fall when they’d finally be alone again.
It hadn’t been the easiest journey for the two of them, but they’d finally reached this day, and both of them, admittedly, couldn’t be happier, as they started an entirely brand new journey.
Together.

Exactly my reaction when I read those salty Gruvia haters on Twitter. It all started with one of them complaining that it's unfair that Gruvia gets all the development compared to their favorite ships, and then proceeds to shit on Gruvia. Like seriously, you can love your ships without hating on another. It's not our fault if our ship is sailing and yours is not. 🤷‍♀️ Stay pressed. 💅
At the end of the day, y’all are just salty that Gruvia has more development than Jerza and Nalu combined and that’s sad.
