So hear me out for a fic idea yeah u know how after gray and juvia fought for the first time and they were seated on top of the guild, let's say her and gray were talking for a bit and then he asks where she go from here and she says "just like the rain wherever the wind blows" and she leaves
This request is from 2021.......I-I don't even know what to say.
I do hope that you like this. I love exploring Juvia's mind and feelings in these <3
we are switching povs like changing lanes in this one lol.
Please enjoy <3
--
He was officially out of breath. His lungs were screaming and while it wasn't the longest battle he had ever encountered, it was still a contender for one of the hardest.
How did she even do that? Lock him in a chamber of water? He thought for a second that she would kill him. She easily could have and he assumed that she might have. There was a flicker of something in her eye when she released him and he wasn't sure if he should be thankful or not.
Usually you don't stay and talk with the enemy. Usually one of you is dead or you walk away. Not this time. Instead of running or hurting her further, he had saved her. She slipped off of the rooftop and for some reason, he couldn't let her die. It wasn't in his moral code to kill someone and even thought this guild was trying to do that to his members, he didn't think it was her idea. He knew what it was like to be a pawn in someones game.
Her dark blue hair that was once curled perfectly into big ringlets had now started to loosen. She looked paler when she first showed up on the roof but now? Now she looked more human. She seemed like something just happened and he couldn't place it. He was always a mess after a good fight but she sat perfectly still and looked...rejuvenated.
"So what now?" Gray asked.
He thought she was like a deer. Her eyes were wide when he spoke and her head turned sharply towards him. It was as if no one had ever spoken to her before.
"What do you mean?" She questioned.
She felt weird staring at this man. What was weirder was the sky above them. A beautiful cyan that she had never seen before. She almost started to cry but held those tears back. She had just gotten the sky, she would not let it darken.
"Where are you going to go after this?"
The question confused her. She was a Phantom Lord member. She was S Class wizard in the most frighting guild. Where else would she go besides there? Deep down, she didn't want to return. She had failed to kill a member but how could she? Somehow kindness leaked from his pores even as he was trapped in her spell. She wouldn't remove that light from the world. She couldn't.
She wanted to say that she was going back home where she belonged. Did she belong? Did she really want to return to a place that didn't care about her well being. They cared that she was strong. They cared that her magic could frighten anyone. But thats all she was. A weapon of destruction.
She looked out towards the fields. Flowers grew within the sea of green grass. Oh how she wondered how they smelled. The feeling of the soft petals. Its been a long time since she had seen a flower not be drowned by her presence.
While she stared at the field, she thought about what he had said during battle. That he would fight to the death to save a member of Fairy Tail. It hurt her. She knew that no one would do that for her. That if she were to die, not one member would bat an eye. No flowers would be at her grave.
She wasn't even sure if she would have a tombstone.
Juvia Lockser. The one no one knows. The rain woman, she is as forgetful as a raindrop. One hit of the pavement, and then that was it.
Phantom Lord didn't care for funerals. They didn't care for much in general.
She wondered if she was someone else, maybe she would receive flowers on her deathbed. Could she ever live in a world where her death meant something? Could someone ever love her enough to shed tears for her permeant absence?
Where are you going to go from here?
That is what he had asked and he was still waiting for her answer.
The clouds had left and she wanted to stay here forever and gaze at a sight she had missed. Oh how the sun felt against her skin! This is where she wanted to go.
She wanted the sunlight on her forever. She wanted to see the flowers bloom and the snow melt. Those dark clouds had cleared something up in her.
Perhaps maybe, just maybe, she could find a home.
Home.
The word felt foreign in her mind but she liked it. She wanted to be wanted and to be loved and remembered. She didn't need a legacy. She didn't need to be the rain woman. She just wanted to be-
"Juvia?"
Her head snapped to his.
He said her name. It sounded like heaven. The way he said it, it was almost like she had forgotten her own name. She couldn't remember a time that her name sounded genuine from another person. There was so much good surrounding him, she almost couldn't believe it.
"Yes?" Her voice almost cracked.
"I asked where you were going to go after this? You can't possibly think your guild is good?" He said sternly.
He was right. This beautiful stranger was right. He had shown a kindness she had never found before so simply. She wanted that. She wanted to be kind. He had saved her. A man from an enemy guild saw something in her and decided she had a life worth living.
A life she should treasure.
If the sky could be clear and hopefully, then she could be too.
Little did she know, he thought that too. Gray knew she was stronger. Much stronger than she let on. Right now all he saw was a fragile woman. Someone who needed to be healed. He knew what it was like to feel hopeless and lost. He was lucky he found people before the darkness corrupted her. Most would think that she was off in the deep end. Too lost to be saved. Not him.
Even in the height of their battle, he could tell she was a gentle soul. Someone who needed a light to guide them, even if it couldn't be him. He wanted to scream at her and tell her to leave that guild. To have her run into Fairy Tail's arms and to never look back. Maybe she would. Maybe she could find a place that treated her better.
No person should look content falling to their death. There was no fear in her eyes and it almost broke him. It wasn't his place to tell her things, just question if she was alright. He didn't know her, but he knew she needed something better. Somewhere to thrive.
When they weren't fighting, she looked delicate and soft. He wouldn't place her as a dark wizard, not a chance. She was a good person, he could sense it.
"No. Juvia does not believe it is good. Juvia is tired of being seen as a monster. She shall find a new home." She stood and dusted off her coat. She began to walk away. "Thank you Gray. to just for saving Juvia's life, but saving Juvia's future as well."
"Is there a chance I'll see you again? Where will you look for your home?" He didn't want her to leave oddly.
"Hopefully." She smiled. "Just like the rain, Juvia will go where ever the wind blows. Maybe one day she will find her way back to you."
"I wish you the best." He waved at her and watched her walk away until she was nothing but a memory.

Chapter 5
-------x-------
Gray couldn’t stop blushing. Did Juvia just have to… And in front of Erza! He felt embarrassed just remembering the look his friend gave him, all smug like she knew everything about them.
Wait, but didn’t she after all?
He looked blankly, understanding that he had just fallen into his “pushing his feelings apart and trying to be unaffected” tendency. This wasn’t fair to any of them. Erza was the one who noticed he reciprocated Juvia’s feelings and insisted so many times that he should act on them.
He tried to control his instincts and think rationally. There was no problem with his friend seeing him vulnerable and flustered from receiving affection, right? He thought about the redhead and Jellal, Natsu and Lucy (who acted like an old married couple despite their denial), all his friends who were - or were close to being - in a relationship. They didn’t have any restraint showing their love. He wanted to be like that so bad. He wanted to become a man good enough for Juvia.  But he was trying, wasn’t he?
He knew he loved her, that was clear as day for him, and he wanted to do everything a couple did with her. It wasn’t that he felt self-conscious or that he didn’t feel the need to engage in PDA. Far from that, actually. The problem was that he had spent so much time in denial, trying to act cool or even push people back that sometimes his first reaction was being a goddamn tsundere (Natsu once teasingly used his word, which he learnt from Lucy, to describe him. It made a lot of sense now why he’d call him that).
But he could work on his issues, right? That dating advice book said that admitting your faults was the first step of becoming better. He could be a good boyfriend. He thought of Gajeel and Levy, how far they’ve come and how the dragon slayer was a totally different person now. Yeah, he could do it.
“Hey, Ice Prick!”
“Wow, Natsu, I didn’t believe you could get three feet further from the appetizers table.”
The dragon slayer pouted. “This part is sooooo boring. I was about to call a random dude for a brawl when Luce told me she was not feeling good. We’re heading back to the hotel now.”
“Really?” Gray saw Lucy wink at him discreetly and he remembered that she wanted to get Natsu as far as possible from Bora before they saw each other. “Oh, of course, sure, yeah, great idea. You should go right now, actually, no need to wait for the girls to return from the- eh, restroom.”
Lucy rolled her eyes at his terrible lie. However, Natsu being the dumbass that he was, didn’t notice; He just dragged her out of the party with a ‘see you soon’ to Gray. About ten minutes later, the girls were back.
“Our plan was a success!” Erza exclaimed
“Did he tell you something useful?”
“No.”
“...”
“Well, not yet . But he will soon enough, because we have an opportunity to talk to him privately this week.”
Gray, although excited with the news, was already sure the girls would go well at that task. After all, Erza was there (that girl always got free cake with her flirting talents). And Juvia, although shy, was gorgeous so he could see any guy bending over to her wants. Himself included.
“Um, Erza-san…”
“Oh, of course, my mistake. I’m not the one who did it. The merit is all Juvia’s. I was merely a flat, useless blob the whole conversation.”
“T-That’s not…”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Ludovic/Bora  had no interest in me, he even called me Erika at one point. His eyes were on Juvia the whole time.”
Juvia’s face was red at this point, and while Gray couldn’t blame Bora at all (fool was the one who didn’t notice her beauty), he couldn’t help feeling weird about it.
“Oh, really? That 's… great.”
“It is! And our girl here will go on this date with him and uncover all his dark secrets for us!!!”
“…What?”
Gray was shocked at this information. If he felt weird about it at first, now he was completely uncomfortable. Juvia, going on a fake date with this dude? The same dude who literally tried to kidnap Lucy for his women trafficking deals?
Gray didn’t care whether the prick had turned into good sides. He could even be innocent, still gray would be cautious. Sure, Juvia could take care of herself, but it nonetheless made him feel cautious about this idea.
“Erza-san! Let’s go back to the inn first and discuss this with the others before making any decisions, please.”
“Oh, of course. Sorry for getting ahead of myself, Juvia. You’re right.
Gray couldn’t form a single thought.
-x-
Juvia was glad she managed to talk Erza down and buy some time for her brain to think of a plan. She didn’t want to do this, not if she could avoid it. There were other solutions, right? She hoped there were.
When they got to the inn’s accommodation, Wendy and Carla were also there with them.
“Natsu, I’ve said a million times that I’m good, there’s no need for Wendy’s magic!” Lucy turned to Gray “Help me out!”
“But Luce-“
“Oh, cut the crap you two. We have important news!” Erza said, establishing order in the room.
“We have a plan to approach Bora and find proof that he’s plagiarized Octavius.”
Natsu snapped his head and looked into Erza’s eyes. “Approach who ?”
The room fell silent.
-x-
After fifteen minutes of convincing Natsu to get his shit together (which may or may not have needed Erza’s fist colliding against his head to work), they resumed their discussion. Natsu was currently tied up to the chair and though usually this wouldn’t stop him at all from going berserk over Bora’s reappearance, Erza’s deathly glare kept him quiet.
Juvia fidgeted uncomfortably as her friend told everyone about her excellent job in seducing Bora. This was going terrible, she thought over and over. She’d do anything to help her friends, sure, but it didn’t make the task in hand any easier. She wasn’t an actress, her feelings were always at display like an open book. How would she put aside her personal issues? How did anyone do it?
Her body was starting to turn into water without her control as everyone talked at the same time about when to do the date, where to go, what Juvia should say and how she should act. She closed her eyes, hoping it would stop. She wasn’t good at this, it wouldn’t work…
Suddenly, she felt a hand petting the top of her head. She jumped in surprise. Her eyes opened and she saw her darling staring at her in worry.
“Juv? Are you okay?”
Juvia looked around, her friends were all staring. It seemed they noticed she wasn’t well.
“Uh… there’s something Juvia needs to tell you. Bora didn’t recognise her since it was long ago, when she was a Phantom Lord mage, but…”
Gray caressed her shoulder. His hands were so warm… Juvia avoided his look and tried to ignore hos his hands stopped moving when she spoke again:
“Bora is Juvia’s ex-boyfriend.”

Body Swap
An imagined conversation because I’m too lazy to write a full fic lol. Happy new year, everyone! 💙
Tumblr media
Gray: ... so that's what happened.
Juvia: So Gray-sama is saying that the reason behind Juvia's transformation into Gray-sama wasn't because she was thinking of him so much?
Gray: That's right.
Juvia: Instead, it was because Gray-sama loves Juvia so much?
Gray: W-what? No!
Juvia: But you said the alchemist used Love Bond to swap our bodies?
Gray: Uh-uh...
Juvia: And based on the name of that spell, it looks like it will only work with the person you love...
Gray: Well...
Juvia: So if Juvia turned into Gray-sama and Gray-sama became Juvia... it means our mutual love for each other made the spell work!
Gray: Don't go jumping to conclusions!
Juvia: But how else would Gray-sama explain what happened?
Gray: ...
Juvia: ...
Gray: ...
Juvia: Woah! Then that means... G-Gray-sama loves Juvia?
Gray: I...uh... I...
Juvia: Gray-sama doesn't have to answer. Juvia understands.
Gray: ... you're the best, you know that?
Juvia: Ah, Gray-sama just complimented Juvia!
Gray: That's why I love you.
Juvia: ...
Gray: ...
Juvia: Gray-samaaa! Juvia loves you too!
.
.
.
Mira: Aww, finally! Smooch away, my dear lovebirds!
Cana: Looks like Gray finally grew a pair! Wait, let me take a closer look...
Erza: G-Gray! J-Juvia! W-why are you... this is n-not the p-place for that!
Natsu: Ha, you really are such a pervert, Ice Princess!
Lucy: Will you two at least wear some clothes before you suck each other's face off?!

Gruvia Week 2023 - Day 2: Whisper
Faint moonlight cast a soft glow inside a small room of an old rickety inn as sounds of steady breathing coming from the silhouettes of two people sharing a single bed filled the silence of the night. Outside the old inn, everything was covered in white as powdery snow kept on falling from the dark sky. From time to time, the cold howling wind would blow giving the place an eerie vibe.
Such a scene was a normal occurrence up in the Northern Mountains of Fiore.
Back inside the small room, one of the two occupants was fast asleep while the other one was wide awake listening to nature’s creepy lullaby. Lying on their sides with their backs on each other, Juvia’s only indication that her ice mage companion was in slumber was his calm breathing. Unlike the unbothered man, the water mage couldn’t fall asleep.
Aside from the sound of the wind that didn’t really bother her that much, the fact that she was sharing a bed with the dark-haired man beside her was giving her heart an overdrive.
Earlier when they arrived looking for rooms to stay overnight, the cliché plot of not having enough available rooms occurred and left them with no choice.
They were on a mission to capture some rouge mages hiding in the snowy mountains and it was an easy job, but unfortunately, the weather hindered them from completing it on time.
Though the environment was to their advantage, risking being caught in a snowstorm was not part of their plan. Those fugitive mages they were tracking down won’t be able to leave the mountain anyway, so they decided to find a temporary shelter.
As the inn was the only lodging place they could find around the area, they didn’t have any options and it was Gray who decided that they would just share the room. It’s not like it was the first time they would be doing that.
It’s been a few months since the chaotic hundred years quest ended and Gray’s team returned. Within those months Juvia has gone on missions with the ice mage a few times.
The first one was her idea.
She noticed how Gray was no longer trying to pretend to avoid her or deflect her affections, so she tried her luck and asked him to go on a job together. He agreed, saying that would be a good way to catch up with each other after such a long time of not working together.  That one time was followed by another and then some more until going on missions more than a few times in a month became a routine. Unless necessary, Gray rarely went on a mission with his team. Most of the time it was him asking her to go on those jobs together.
To say that the water mage was happy about the sudden change between them was an understatement.
She was ecstatic.
In the past, it was always her initiating everything. She was the one asking Gray to go out with her, go on missions with her, and eat out with her. But recently it was him asking her to do things with him despite all the lame reasons he was giving every time that he did so.
Unable to force herself to sleep, Juvia opened her eyes and studied the empty wall of the room in front of her. Behind her, she could feel the slight rise and fall of Gray’s breathing.
When the battle is over, I’ll give you my answer…
She’s my power to live…
Out of nowhere, those words echoed in her head as her hand clutched the edge of her pillow.
Juvia knew without a doubt how Gray feels about her.
It’s certain that she occupies a place in his heart and she’s glad that Gray was getting more comfortable when it comes to showing his emotions. It’s just that she can’t stop herself from thinking of how long they are going to keep their unclear understanding.
With that thought, a wistful smile tugged on the sides of her lips.
Of course, if Gray didn’t want to do anything about it, she won’t force him. But at the end of the day, she’s still just a human and she could not avoid having hopes and expectations.
Deep inside her, she knew she was yearning for that answer that he promised her.
There were things she wanted to do and say but cannot due to their current relationship as nakamas who obviously harbor romantic feelings for each other but without an actual romantic relationship.
Her thoughts were futile.
There’s no point in thinking about such things. She had long proclaimed what she feels, and she already did what she had to do about her feelings in excessive ways. It’s no longer up to her how her relationship with Gray would further develop. If worse comes to worst, she could just continue loving him in her own way and cast away her hopes.
With that in mind, Juvia told herself to sleep and rest because she’ll need her energy to complete their mission when morning comes. She sighed once more and tried to block her train of thoughts that kept on nagging her.
When the wind blew once more, she unconsciously tugged her blanket to ward off the cold, but somehow it got tangled up with one of Gray’s legs and she felt the man behind her shift along with the force of her movement. He rolled on his other side and he’s now facing her back. She bit down on her lip when she felt his breath at the back of her head.
“Juv…”
Juvia’s body went rigid when she heard a low voice that seemed to be calling her name. Was Juvia dreaming already? She asked herself confusedly. Or maybe she was thinking too much and just hearing things?
But she was sure that it was Gray’s voice that she heard.
Was he sleep talking and calling out her name?
“Juvia,” there it goes again and this time it wasn’t just Gray’s voice that she could hear. She could also feel his hand on her side as his arm slowly moved around her waist. With a gentle tug, he pulled her closer to his chest and buried his face in the crook of her neck. “Can’t sleep?” he asked in a sleepy voice, his hot breath tickling her sensitive skin.
Juvia’s own breathing halted as her heartbeat hammered inside her chest, her face flushed and her mind frozen.
What just happened?
What is Gray-sama doing?!
Since Gray’s face was on Juvia’s neck, she felt it when his mouth moved, and a smile formed on his lips. “G-Gray-s-sama?”
“Hmm?”
Juvia swallowed hard when she heard his sexy hum. She was certain it was still snowing outside, and the temperature was still freezing cold, but she could feel herself heating up.
She had shared a room and a bed with Gray before. More than a few times, she had embraced and tackled him. They also shared a few physical contacts before, but as far as Juvia could remember, Gray had never initiated such intimate physical interaction.
“Gray-sama,” she called out again and though she didn’t stutter, her voice was a little hoarse. “Wh-why are you holding Juvia like this?”
Instead of responding to her question, Gray only tightened his arm around her. With how close their bodies were, Juvia could feel that she was not the only one whose heart was beating fast. After a few minutes of silence with only their breathing filling the room, Gray finally said something. “Am I not allowed to hold you like this?”
What?
Did she hear him right?
How was she supposed to answer that?
Obviously, she won’t stop him from holding her like that. But there’s more to that question that made her unable to think properly.
Juvia was just thinking about so many things, but why is Juvia’s mind suddenly blank!?  Juvia thought as she nibbled her lip.
The sudden turn of events was something she wasn’t expecting at all!
In the silence of the night Gray’s chuckle resonated within the room. “Don’t think too much about it,” he whispered. “I love you.”

Summary: Before Juvia knew it, she was in one of the private rooms of the church, getting one last good look at herself before it was time to begin her walk. She was never particularly happy with the girl who stared back at her. Still, today the mirror reflected an empty image, almost as if Juvia was never there, to begin with.

Pizza Date
Summary: Gruvia pizza date. That’s all!
Also on:
AO3 & FFN
He’s so pretty.
Juvia idly stared at Gray while they were watching their current show together. Recently, Gray had ever-so-smoothly gotten into the habit of getting Juvia to come to his apartment for dinner most evenings after hanging out at the guild.
They spent almost every waking moment together, until one of them went on a job or Gray said he would walk her home after they were done hanging out. She knew she just had to continue being patient and he would work up the nerve to actually say anything to her about his actions.
For now, they were in a limbo of knowing each other's feelings and neither of them really doing much about it.
Juvia’s attitude hadn’t changed, other than being more patient with Gray in moments like this. While Gray’s attitude was slowly evolving. He was treating Juvia like a boyfriend would - walking her home, taking her out for food, watching shows together, dancing exclusively together at events. The list could go on really.
Juvia knew if she pushed him too far, all this lovely progress would be lost. So, she stayed as calm as she could when he asked her what she felt like eating that night when they were sitting together at the guild earlier that day.
Simply stating she was a little tired and felt like a pizza takeout. Although her voice didn’t shake, her face was almost glowing red at that moment she was sure of it.
They were currently relaxing on either end of his couch, as they usually do. With Gray focusing a little too hard on the show, and Juvia trying to watch the show but inevitably getting distracted.
His shirt had been thrown off hours ago, Juvia was nearly 100% sure that he had left it at the guild this time. His black sweatpants were low on his hips as he slouched with his feet resting on his coffee table.
It took all of Juvia’s strength to not jump into his lap and wrap her arms around him when he looked like that. He was being everything but physically attentive in recent weeks, which just made her want him that much more.
As her finger twitched in consideration, just to lean over and touch his arm, his doorbell rang, making both of them jump and look at the wooden door to his living room.
“Guess our pizza’s here. Do you mind getting plates?” Gray spoke smoothly, looking at her with his usual calm demeanour. Totally oblivious to the battle in her mind.
“Yeah,” she managed to huff out and scurried towards his kitchen as he made his way to the front door.
She quickly reached for two plates and placed them on the countertop in front of her. She fanned a hand before her face, trying to cool down and get rid of her impulsive thoughts so that she could try to enjoy the rest of her evening with Gray.
“Alright, here we go.” Gray swerved into his kitchen with a large pizza box and various small boxes on top. “I hope you don’t mind a regular stuffed crust, they said they ran out of that garlic cheese stuff that you like.”
He remembered my favourite cheese?!
“I also ordered some cookies for us to have afterwards. I know you’re a huge sweet tooth and they’re also so good from this place too. You’d really like the-”
Juvia cut off his words by storming up to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling his face down to kiss him directly on the lips.
He, first of all, made a confused step back which she mimicked by stepping forward, refusing to let him go. After a beat, he wrapped one hand around her waist and placed the other on the back of her neck. He kissed her back just as hard as she initiated. The force of his affection brought her back to the counter where he had placed the pizza.
She let out a small moan as he slipped his tongue into her mouth. At the noise he grabbed her impossibly closer, his fingers grabbing her hair to tilt her head to his desired angle.
Her arms detangle from around his neck to grab at his face, neck, hair, wherever she could reach during this mindless makeout session.
Gray allowed her to touch him wherever she pleased in those moments, without hesitating she skimmed one hand down to the waistband of his sweats to pull their hips together, making him groan deeply into her mouth.
This was officially the best day of her life. He was actually kissing her back!
She pulled back suddenly when she realised what she had done. Staring up at him total shock, only to him staring down at her while heavy breathing. She blinked twice before looking down at their tangled arms. He still had one hand in her hair, while the other was so low on her back, he may as well take a handful of her ass while he was at it.
“Well, that was overdue.” Gray breathed out, making Juvia look up at him again. A soft smile graced his face before he leaned his forehead on hers. “Sorry that you had to make the first move. I was really trying to find an opening without making it seem like I was only inviting you over to.. Well, you know.”
“Juvia would be fine if you wanted to invite her over for that,” she smiled shyly up at him before removing her grip from his waistband to rest her hand on his chest.
Gray chuckled at her statement.
“Yeah, I know.” He muttered. “But I have more respect for you than to take advantage of that fact.”
He kissed her softly on the cheek before burying his head in her neck. Juvia let out a breath before leaning her head against his and holding him just as tight as he was her.
She was completely lost in the moment they were sharing. Thinking about how warm his body felt against hers, how surprisingly soft his hair was, and how his breath gave a slight tickle on her neck.
While lost in her imagination, she heard a deep rumble come from between them and then a laugh burst from Gray.
“Oh, I guess we forgot about the food!” He leaned back from her with a glowing smile on his face. “Come on, let’s eat.”
He slowly let go of her and reached for a couple of slices of pizza to load onto his chosen plate. Juvia, now on auto-pilot, silently followed suit by arranging her own plate and then back to the couch.
Without thinking, Juvia sat in her usual spot on the couch and rested her plate food on her lap. What surprised her was Gray taking the spot directly beside her to eat together, casually raising his closest arm to wrap around her shoulders while he used his free hand to eat his own pizza.
Why is he acting like this is normal behaviour for him?
She tried to keep up with the light commentary he was making on whatever show they were watching, even making some comments herself, although she had totally lost track of the name and plot by now.
When her plate was empty, Juvia leaned over to rest her plate against the table. Gray quickly followed suit with his own.
On his way leaning back, he used his free hand to lift Juvia's legs to rest over his own as he leaned in to kiss her again.
Out of shock, Juvia leaned away and blinked at him which caused him to pause.
“You good?” She felt his thumb rub over her thigh as he spoke. “Juvia?”
“What’s going on?” Juvia managed to stutter out.
“Well, I was hoping we could make out on the couch right about now.” Gray said with a slight blush. “But no rush if you’re not ready!”
He was about to lean back when Juvia grabbed him back.
“No!” She yelled “I just- I really like this affectionate side of you. It’s really sweet.”
“Ahh, sorry. I guess now that the ice is broken I was getting carried away.” Gray looked at her dead in the eye and tilted his head to the side. “But isn’t this how guys are supposed to treat their girlfriends?”
Juvia squeaked and covered her mouth with her finger tips.
“Girlfriends?!” Her voice was muffled by her fingers and she looked at Gray with huge eyes.
“Well, yeah? I thought we were on the same page about that for a while now.” Gray looked more confused than Juvia looked surprised.
“Wait, don’t tell me I forgot to ask you!” Gray, now looking back at Juvia with equally wide eyes, shot back and put his head in his hands. “Oh no, I really thought I asked ages ago. I had a whole plan and everything when we went to that butterfly exhibit.”
Watching Gray be the one to freak out over the nature of their connection for the first time, made Juvia relax and even giggle a little. Which made him look at her with absolute devastation.
“You know, you don’t really need to ask me. It’s not as if my answer is a secret.” Juvia smiled kindly and sat up straight on the couch.
“Yeah, that’s true.” Gray smiled at her and grabbed both of her hands. “You deserve to be asked though.”
“No.” Juvia shook her head. “I deserve you.”

GRUVIA WEEK 2023 — DAY SEVEN: CONTENTMENT
@gruviaweek
Tumblr media
FROSTY WIND gusting through the pine trees, the sweet aroma of gingerbread cookies and candy cane, a picture-perfect warm fire dancing with the wood in the fireplace, and gooey love drifting through the atmosphere enveloping the people in a mist.
Shades of white covered the entire land in a thick blanket as pointed icicles decorated the window, cyan orbs lost in the motion of snowflakes trickling down the quaint town of Magnolia as he brought the cup of cafe mocha in his mouth, the rich chocolate flavors bursting through his system.
Years had gone by, trends had changed, and old buildings and roads had been refurbished, yet the sweet taste of the beverages in Mira's Cafe that he had known ever since he was a kid had always stayed the same. He despised changes more than anything in the world, maybe it was also the reason that he resisted the urge to leave their hometown like anyone else; there were times when he had to welcome the inevitable unknown only to go back to where he was used to growing up.
The screeching of the chair against the marble floor brought him out of his reverie, turning his head to meet the gaze of the person standing before his hooded eyes. He could feel his breath hitching, his dark pupils widening as his heart thumped out of his ribcage coming face to face with the person — no, a ghost from his past.
The first thing he noticed about her was her azure loose waves, they had grown longer with specks of lavender hues on their ends, resting on the luxurious beige coat around her body which had grown more mature, voluptuous as it perfectly embraced her figure donning a black top that matched her skirt that reached up to her mid-thigh.
The stars dancing in her oceanic orbs were shining brighter than he could remember, the last time he gazed into her eyes — it was laced with tears and pain that he had caused. In her delicate hands was a net basket of carnations blooming in vivid pink shades, he also took note of the snowflake diamond jewelry on her ring finger.
"Juvia," her name seems foreign tumbling out of his lips, yet in the same way, familiar.
"Lyon," her voice had grown more feminine as a sweet smile graced her features, one that he hadn't seen in years.
Acting politely, he stood up to help her towards the sit before him to which she reciprocated with a simple 'thank you.' He sat down in front of her, only feeling the awkward atmosphere that seems to envelop the two young adults.
"Juvia knew she'd find you here, Lyon," the blue-haired lady was the first one to break the silence, trying to ease the awkwardness circling their space with the joyful rhythm of her voice. "How has Lyon been?" she intoned.
Lyon faked a cough before answering, "I've been good, Juvia. Working as a public lawyer had been tiring, but it was fun. How about you?"
"Juvia had been doing good too, she learned a lot of new things about marine life while working at Alvarez. She's been saying yes, instead of no. Also, did Lyon know that dolphins sleep with only one-eyed close?" she seemed excited, her fingers tracing the G initial engraved on her circular pendant which did not go unremarked by the silver-head man, he can't help but wonder what the initial meant.
"I have no idea," Lyon chuckled at her display of excitement remembering the same old Juvia who easily got excited over the minuscule of things.
Juvia genuinely smiled as she observed the crease by his hooded eyes as he cackled, the melody of his laughter seeming like an old song that she hadn't heard in years that she almost forgot how it sounded like; even though his cries when she left him by the lakes constantly haunted her in her sleep a few years back.
"Juvia had this dream Lyon's doing cool shit."
Lyon halt from laughing, tilting his head as he never heard her curse even before, "Like what?"
"Having adventures on your own. Juvia dreamt that Lyon met some woman on the internet and take her home," Juvia responded, looking out at the scenery at the window.
Lyon's brows drew in a straight line, "Wow! That's quite the dream. Contrary to your sleep visions, I haven't been seeing anyone after Ultear." And after you left, he wanted to drag those words out of his mouth, yet found it improper, instead, he asked to further get the conversation going. "How about you? Have you been seeing someone?" he queried his former best friend.
With a flicker of overwhelming emotions that flashed through her orbs, further enhancing the glow of the stars beneath her voids that resembled that of the ocean that she fancy, and the tint of roses coating her high cheekbones, he could only deduce that she's caught in a love mist.
One, two, three.
Lyon waited for the excruciating waves of grief to trickle through his heart; to feel his lungs screaming for air as it felt like a thousand roses laced with thorns is blocking his airway as death knocked through his door of life — the same anguish that he felt almost ten years ago, only that it didn't come.
Had time changed his feelings contrary to his belief?
"Who's the lucky guy?" he didn't know but his mouth somehow formulated those words.
Hazy chuckles erupted from Juvia as she handed him the basket of carnations, he had only noticed the ivory envelope resting in the center with a gold wax seal. The blue-haired girl gestured for him to open the envelope which he instantly obliged, curious.
Together with their families
Gray and Juvia
Request the pleasure of your gracious
presence at their engagement celebration.
It was Gray, of course, he should have known.
Gray and Juvia, their names etched with a fine foil print on the scented paper in swooping, sloping, cursive alphabetical characters were the catalysts to the memories that he had tried to bury deep in his soul; the moments that he realized that it has always been Gray for Juvia as Juvia had always been for Gray.
The tale of the trio's friendship had its genesis in snowy weather with three snowmen clad in Juvia's Santa hats, the ridiculous purple hand-me-down gloves from Gray's sister, and the scarves that Lyon stole from his mother.
The cold breeze continuously prompts the six-year-old Juvia to erupt in a cute sneeze as her tiny fingers moved to shape the snow in a circle, the plush sweater that resembled that of a pink frog failing to do its job to shield her from the cold.
"Stupid Juvia, just go inside the house," shrieked the seven-year-old raven-haired boy, pointing to the house beside his home as he had enough of her sneezes.
"No, Juvia wants to win!" the younger girl cried as she thumped her feet against the snow-covered ground.
"Let her be, you idiot!" taunted an eight-year-old Lyon who was lost in his world as he sculpt his snowman to perfection.
Gray stood up from his comfortable squat on the ground, harshly removing the scarf draped around his almost-finished snowman which caused the figure that he made for half an hour to crumble down into nothing but an ugly lump, mixing with the ivory land.
The silver-haired kid jumped up and down as he watch his friend's snowman disintegrate, "I won!"
"No!"
Gray paid Lyon no heed, walking towards the blue-haired girl having a tantrum at Lyon's outburst. Standing in front of her, he encircled the red frozen scarf around her which engaged a shriek from Juvia. "G-Gray, no way! It's cold!" she embraced her arms around her body, squatting down on the ground.
Gray's hand trembled, quite shocked at her reaction as he quickly moved to untangle the scarf around the younger kid, confusion dancing in his deep-blue orbs. "What's wrong? Teacher Elfman said that scarves are made to keep people warm, right?" he questioned naively.
The sound of Juvia's sweet snortles resonated through his ears as he helped her stand up, the blue-haired girl tilted her head in a wavy azure bob as she began to wonder alongside Gray, she motioned the older boy to scoot down as she whispered in his ear, "Maybe Lyon's scarf is broken because he just stole it from Auntie?"
"Hey, I heard it!"
A seventeen-year-old Lyon threw his phone on the bed, his fingers raking his silver hair as he felt the frustration from his never-ending fights with his girlfriend consume him. He lay on the bed, covering his eyes with his hand as he debated climbing over to Ultear's balcony which is a house away from his own to fix their misunderstanding, and if he was lucky, he can have her writhing underneath him or the other way around and make out thoroughly with her, but he decided against it as she says over the phone and he quoted, "I need space."
The teenager stood up from his bed, deciding to just take a much-needed cold shower he opened the blinds to let some light from the sunset seep through his room when a scenery from the next door window caught his eye. His brows drew in a thick line, confused as to what were those two doing. Ever since he dated the purple-haired lady next-next door, he hadn't been able to hang out with his best friends.
Gray lazily sit on Juvia's bed with Frosch resting on his bare stomach as he read one of the beauty's books about marine life, while the female was slumped in front of him with his bejeweled guitar (courtesy of Juvia) resting on her front seemingly playing a song which prompts the raven-haired athlete to cover his ears with his hands.
The tune of Juvia's carefree laughter drifted through the air, even engaging a smile on the silver-haired teenager's forlorn features. Her laughter ceased when Gray rested his forehead against hers, their pointed noses brushing against each other. Juvia put down the guitar, her forefinger moving against her best friend's bare chest as she traced stars around the area where his heart resides. The raven-haired male moved his head away from her, only to rest it against her shoulder as he buried his face in her azure curls, the spectator couldn't help but to take notice of Gray's ear blushing to a healthy shade of red.
The silver-haired male closed the blinds as his jaw clenched, feeling rather vexed over something that he didn't know.
The golden rays of the morning star spread their scorching warmth on the beach, providing heat on the water, the sound of the waves meeting the shore should have been peaceful yet it felt menacingly eerie. The pure sand seeped its way inside his sandals, despite the heat beating down against his body; Lyon could feel the cold sweat trickling down his pale skin as he stood frozen on the ground, his dark pupils shrinking as he stared at Juvia who seems rather pale and unbreathing as she lay in the arms of Gray.
As if she was a delicate China that could break with mishandling, Gray gingerly placed her on the ground as he sat next to her. Trying to be as calm as he could, feigning ignorance to the quivering of his body as his mind dreaded the worst-case scenarios or how he felt like air is being punched out of his lungs, the raven-head placed his hands at the center of the female's chest. His palms pushed as hard and fast as he could, deducing that his best friend wasn't responding, he was swift to tilt her chin upwards as he pinch her nose, sealing her lips with his own as he blew as much air into her mouth.
The hockey player kept repeating the cycle several times, until the blue-haired girl began coughing up a huge amount of water, feebly shifting to her side to vomit more water. The first thing that she saw was Gray when she opened her blue eyes, heaving rapidly with heavy panting as she tuck Gray in a tight embrace as memories underneath the surface of the sea began flooding her mind.
"J-Juvia t-thought she'd," blazing tears began to course down her red cheeks, slender fingers clinging to his back. Her shoulders tremble with the force of her emotions as she forced herself to say, choking on her sobs, "N-never sees you again, G-Gray-sama."
Broad shoulders quivering, the hockey athlete only stroked her tangled locks with his fingers, responding to her cries with the feel of his pale lips planted on her left temple as he embraced her tighter as if she'd evaporate in his arms.
Relief began to wash over Lyon as he watched his best friend alive and breathing, yet he couldn't help but taste an acidic flavor in his mouth as he realized that he did nothing but just stood there while she was fighting for her life. His cyan eyes watched over the two figures on the ground, a green monster emotion burning behind his dark orbs as he felt that there was more to his two best friends than meets the eye, he just can't seem to decipher what.
"Juvia's leaving in a month to study in Alvarez."
Lyon felt like the moment had stopped as her words registered in his mind, he stared wide-eyed and mouth agape as enormous emotions began to consume his being. The chirping of the crickets residing in the pine trees remained as the only music that enveloped the quiet evening, the glow of the crescent moon burning brightly in the ceiling of midnight sky gifted light in the quaint town of Magnolia in which the two figures sat side by side in front of Juvia's porch.
The barking of his dog next door bestowed him the courage to let out strangled words, "W-what do you mean?" A crease formed between his thick eyebrows as he gazed at the young lady, who exuded a melancholic aura as she further buried herself inside the embrace of her thick blanket.
Her bloodshot eyes were decorated with dark circles, and the radiance that she once emanate seemed to have flown out in the air as her pale lips trembled; it dawned on him that she must have been feeling under the weather for the past few days. The confusion began to circle his mind, ever since they were just children playing around in the neighborhood, it had always been her dream to leave this town and study abroad as her parents did before.
"Alvarez University is sponsoring Juvia a scholarship to study marine biology," she smiled weakly, her gaze drifting towards the empty road in front of them as she sink further into her sheets.
"Truth be told, Juvia's hesitating to leave. Somewhere deep in her soul, Juvia wants to stay in her comfort zone with her comfort people!" the acidic water trailing down her face was glistening under the moonlight. "Juvia does not want to leave G-Gray-sama behind, Juvia doesn't understand why he kept pushing her to go to Alvarez. And does Lyon know what's worst? He said he'd catch up on Juvia so she should just go, but Juvia knew how much he loves the hockey team here! Of course, Juvia being Juvia said no which resulted in a fight. Plus, other girls would probably make a move on him!" she ranted, breathing heavily, she broke out in a childish wail as her hands moved to conceal her face.
Lyon did not say anything, he ignored how she just blurted out her feelings for Gray, instead he hauled the blue-haired girl in a firm hug to show his sympathy as she let out her pent-up anguish to her friend. She buried her halo of blue in Lyon's shoulder, seeking warmth and comfort after being in solitude for days, without the familiar arms that used to hold her to tend her broken heart.
The heavy footsteps ghosting against the blue-haired chick's front lawn rang through his ears as he looked up, before he could register the storm brewing inside the dark-haired athlete's irises of oceanic blue, the older teenager was drawn upwards as his sharp jaw met his friend's fist causing him to tumble on the ground.
"Dude, what the fuck?!" Lyon screamed in the late evening, gaining the interest of their neighbors who instantly opened their respective windows to eavesdrop, desperate for some gossip, and that includes his ex-girlfriend with an unamused stare as cucumber coated her entire face.
Before Gray had the chance to pounce at him for the second time, Juvia was quick to intervene as she clasp her painted fingers around the furious male's wrists. "Gray-sama, no! Stop!" she shrieked as she leaned her head on his trembling back, drawing stars around his bruised fist to calm him down. Deducing that she needs to lay her armor down to end this cold war with Gray, the beauty flashed Lyon an apologetic smile before hauling the vexed man inside her house.
A flicker of realization dawned on the nineteen-year-old boy, he completely understood now.
"No."
Gravel-grey clouds hover above the pitched-black painted sky, droplets of rain plunged like thousand of icicles scraping his pale skin as he knelt in the wet ground holding out a raindrop ring residing inside a heart-shaped velvet box. The loud cries of the heavens failed to mask her single answer to his proposal, he clenched his teeth with the feeling that the natural calamity was mocking him with the acidic taste of the rain in the corner of his lips, how it rumbled throughout the sky resembling that of a madman's laugh.
Grueling waves of anguish transverse to his heart as a feeling of being ruptured over by a thousand shards flickered through his being, swift yet excruciating; roseate lace thorns seeped through his airways, heartwrenching, and bloody, blocking his means of breathing. The tears that escaped his cyan voids as it hauntingly coursed down his face like a river seeming as the only remedy to ease his pain as he grieved for the living, watching her azure waves drift as she ran away from him reflecting the agony that he was enduring.
Loath.
Underneath the shower of the petals of water, as he dreads the path towards his house, Lyon loathed himself and his foolish decisions more than anything in the world. It was ungentlemanly, proposing to Juvia on a whim as he strive to stop her from leaving Alvarez to chase her childhood dreams.
Egocentric.
The silver-haired man embraced his feelings, feigning ignorance of the emotions of his closest friends as he caused them misery, their prosperous yesterdays of childish laughs and cries seeming to fade into thin air with his act of egoism.
Lyon's soul felt thin as shame washed over his being, the hurt in his heart escalated as if he was struck by lightning, standing frozen a few meters in their neighborhood; his melancholic voids watched as the love of his life tiptoed to savor the taste of Gray's lips as if it is her greatest luxury, with the raven-head's arms embraced tightly around her quivering figure as if it'd shield her from the demons lurking in the world.
Or maybe it was Lyon, himself.
The homey aroma of hot chocolate laced with a hint of burnt wood wafting through Mira's cafe, gently tickling his nostrils was the catalyst to bring his mind back to reality. His keen eyes observed the person in front of her, her oceanic orbs drifting around the cafe she frequented as a child, trying to spot as many changes as she failed to do so.
Lyon brought the cup of his beverage to his lips, the sweet flavor providing him the determination to speak the words he failed to do back then. "Juvia," he began which caught her interest. "About the night before you left the country," recognition danced inside her starlike voids, "I sincerely apologize. Believe me, when I say, there wasn't a single night where I did not regret what I did. In my defense, I have none for not respecting your feelings to save my own."
The fair lady painted a ray of sunshine over her angelic features, "Juvia had long forgiven Lyon for that. And it's alright now, but that stunt is something, doesn't Lyon think so?"
"Well," he responded with a nervous laugh.
The awkward aura that he felt earlier ceased to exist as it seemed to have evaporated into the dense air, they continued to converse about their lives for half an hour over cups of hot chocolate and cafe mocha with gingerbread cookies on the side — a similar scenery back when they were foolish teenagers.
The silver-haired man had learned that she and Gray had been together for more than ten years, turns out the former hockey player found himself fascinated with glaciology when he set foot in Alvarez. Juvia had also told him that her relationship with the raven-haired male had hit quite a bump in the road, like how she thought they would break up in the morning after 'the great war' as she quoted, but contrary to her insecurities, the man had remained patient with her as she is for him.
Lyon relish the way how her orbs were sparkling every time she talked about her glaciologist of a fiance, yet there was a selfish part of him that couldn't help but wonder that if one of his wishes had come true, would he be the one to light up the stars in her eyes?
"No!" Juvia exclaimed as she fixed her gaze on her phone, a crease forming in between her defined eyebrows as she gaze back at him with an apologetic smile. "Juvia had to go now, does Lyon remember Lucy? She's going into labor now!" she hastily stood up on her heels, as she fished out two cards from her purse that ranges from blue to black colors.
Lyon stood up with a grin on his lips, receiving the cards in her beige-painted fingers before briefly checking it to see that it was Juvia and Gray's contact details. "Oh! The writer who's dating Dragneel? I'm hoping for her best delivery," intoned the man.
"Juvia truly enjoyed the chat today, she hopes we can catch up again some other time with Gray-sama like old times!" Juvia took a few steps towards the silver-haired man engaging him in a friendly hug as she pats his back before drawing away, "Be sure to bring a date next month! Juvia heard from Gray-sama that Ultear's single," she winked teasingly, before waving goodbye.
The lawyer stared at her as she walked towards the decorated door with a jump in her steps, observing her through the large window adorned with gilded pinecones, he noticed how she tucked a stray lock of azure behind her ear when a black Lexus car halted before her.
Gray emerged from the driver's seat to open up the car door for her, he rested his palms on both of her shoulders which made her stop in her strides, before removing the woolen grey-colored scarf around his neck to drape it around her, making sure to hide her gorgeous face from the cold.
Some things never change.
Satisfastion coursed through his veins, pleased that Gray and Juvia ended up with each other, despite trying to act as the villain of their story to sabotage fate himself. Some things are just meant to be, he thought as he took a sip from his beverage, catching a glimpse of vivid curls of bubblegum pink, and maroon eyes, walking past the couple.
Juvia encircled her slender arms around Gray's broad shoulders, sneakily pointing at the mistletoe by the bejeweled pivot door of the cafe. The raven-haired man rolled his blue eyes, whispering sweet nothings into her flushed ear, before leaning down to claim her luscious lips with his own.
A sense of contentment washer over Lyon as his orbs of cyan voids stared at his old friends with a proud gaze, the quaint town of Magnolia had never seen a love as pure as these childhood sweethearts who seemed oblivious to the lavender haze that they emanates.
All's well that ends well.

FAIRY TAIL FANFIC | PHONE CALL
Title: Phone Call
FF.NET | AO3
Pairing: Gray Fullbuster/ Juvia Lockser
Based from this beautiful Chapter Cover....
Tumblr media
Gray fidgets with the miniature communication lacrima in his pocket as he figures out the perfect time to excuse himself from the group.
"We could set up camp here." Erza declared.
Wendy nodded and started setting up the camp with Carla. Lucy, Natsu, and Happy soon followed. Gray sighed and placed his satchel on the ground, and helped out for a bit before sneaking away.
He walked a couple of meters away from the group and blended into the crowd of the town.
"Our tents are done." Erza proclaimed. "Now, Natsu, Gray, and I are going out to hunt for our dinner. Lucy, Wendy, you two guard our camp.
Erza fixed her armor and looked around and noticed that a certain ice mage is missing.
"Where's Gray?"
"He's here just a second ago," Wendy replied, shifting her head from left to right trying to find him.
"That jerk's slacking off again!" Natsu shouted. "I'm gonna find him and beat his lazy butt." He ran forward, leaving everyone behind.
Erza sighed. "I'll go hunting."
"Happy, follow Natsu and make sure he doesn't break anything."
"Aye, sir!!" The blue cat gave the knight a salute before flying away.
"Gray-san's grown habit of running away whenever we're about to set up camp or check in a hotel," Wendy spoke.
"Yeah." Lucy nodded. "It's weird, he never does that before."
"What could he be doing?"
"Hey, how have you been?" Gray said, leaning his back against a wall, his miniature communication lacrima prompt up in his ear
"Juvia's good, she just got back to the apartment. How's the mission?" A soft voice passed through the lacrima.
"Tiring, being able to hear your voice is sorta therapeutic."
"Juvia misses you." Juvia giggled, clutching a pillow to her chest.
"I miss you too."
Gray responded with a low chuckle before continuing their conversation.
"How's the guild?"
"Still the same. Although, we got some new members." Juvia responded.
"This isn't another Touka situation is it?" Gray arched a brow.
Juvia giggled. "No, this is different."
"Jellal, Meredy, and Cobra joined."
"I guess that makes sense." Gray nodded.
"Meredy planned on taking Juvia on a job with her and Jellal," Juvia added.
"Also with Jellal." It's a weird feeling but Gray doesn't like the idea of Juvia going on a mission with him even if he knows there's nothing wrong with it.
"Meredy thinks it'll be a fun bonding experience," Juvia replied.
It makes sense, both Juvia and Jellal are close friends with Meredy. It's normal for her to want both of her close friends to get along. However, Gray can't help but still get that uneasy feeling.
"Is there anything wrong, darling?"
"Nothing, it's great that they joined the guild, who knows, maybe in one of Jellal's missions, he'd stumble upon Erza again." Gray joked and he received an adorable giggle from the water mage.
"Where is Gray-sama now?"
"Some random corner in the town we're in, I gotta separate myself from the others mainly because Natsu is way too loud."
"Has Gray-sama eaten yet?"
"We just set up camp, Natsu and Erza are probably out hunting."
"You're not gonna help them?"
Gray shrugged. "They can handle it, I wanna talk to you."
Natsu is finally able to find Gray, he's leaning at a brick wall in some random corner, his miniature communication lacrima is up against his ear, clearly speaking to someone.
"Oi!! Stripper!!!" The dragon slayer called.
Gray jolted up, his attention shifted towards Natsu.
"Natsu's here, I gotta go." He spoke over the lacrima.
"Alright then, take care Gray-sama, Juvia loves you," Juvia responded.
Gray smiled before hanging up. "I'll call again tomorrow."
"Who's that?" Natsu asked, running towards the ice mage.
"It's just Juvia," Gray mumbled a response.
"Ohh he loves her~." Happy giggled while flying in circles.
"Ugh." Gray rolled his eyes. "This is why I don't tell you guys about stuff."
"Hey!!" Natsu gasped, offended by the statement.

I want Meredy to join FT with Jellal and they can make a Team Juvia. 💙💕
Tumblr media
How cute and funny. I think they would work well together and be super strong. It will be cool to have three former FT villains together on the same team….
ALSO We can have a jealous Erza because Jellal would be on missions with Team Juvia and not her. Just like juvia gets jealous. I would love to see jealous Erza 😍😍

~ Keeping Connected ~ ~ <3
Latest drabble now up!  (i’ll finish my actual stories soon..)
See it on FF here
Based on FT: 100 Year Quest chapter 113 cover, you know what it is ;)
Keeping Connected
Juvia was paced around her room in her pyjama set, biting her lip as she glanced at the clock. One thing Juvia admitted was she wasn’t particularly great at being patient. Although she was sure the guild might argue differently.
‘I’d imagined he’d be finished by now, right?’ she thought to herself.
All day she had been waiting for the clock to turn to 7pm, perfectly timing her entire day so she’d be fed, showered and ready for that exact time. But currently it was 5 past, and she just couldn’t keep still.
She glanced at the lacrima phone lying on her bed and turned her head away, knowing however long she looked at the phone, it wasn’t going to make him call any sooner.
She sighed and wriggled her toes in her fluffy cream carpet she was pacing upon, thinking of the reasons why he was late calling, but her thoughts were interrupted by a jiggle going off and the lacrima screen lighting up.
She almost pounced on the thing, but managed to keep hold of her nerves and wait for the second jiggle before answering. She couldn’t make out that she had been waiting all day for the thing to ring, although that’s exactly what he would assume she’d been doing.
‘Hello?’ She said in a small voice. She’d never owned a personal lacrima before as she never thought of much use for it, but the last time Team Natsu had magically appeared once again in their guild, Gray had gotten her one before they had to leave again. Saying something about not knowing how long this mission will go on for, or when they next might be back for a break, and it’d be good for them to keep in touch for the time in between.
‘Hey’, a husky voice replied back.
Juvia screamed internally. She didn’t realise how much she missed his voice and why it had to sound so much sexier over lacrima.
‘Hi’ she breathed. It was actually working. Gray was mavis knows where across the world, but now he was basically right in Juvia’s ear, the thought almost making her giggle.
‘Is that all you’re going to say?’ Gray replied with a chuckle.
Juvia started to panic, ‘ummmmm…’. With her excitement taking all her attention, no words or conversational ideas were forming in her mind.
Gray laughed again at the usual whirlwind that lived in that girl’s head. ‘It’s all right, so how was your day?’
Her day? What did she do apart from prepare for this call? She couldn’t tell him that! ‘Ah it was fine thankyou Gray-sama, just a usual day at the guild really. How was yours?
‘Ah it was a busy one. We left the map with Natsu for a split second and somehow ended up in a small village in the complete opposite way, but for the most part it’s been fine.’
Juvia chuckled at the tale of her hectic friends, ‘So a typical day for you then as well.’ she said with a smile. ‘Do you know your plan for your next location?’
‘Hmmmm, I think Erza has managed to find us back onto the right path, then onto the next dragon location really. Sorry I can’t go into too much detail about the mission…’
Juvia responded with a hmmm. She sat back on her heels on her bed, cuddling her gray sama love pillow she always kept there.
‘Although you’d love it at this place we’ve ended up at, I think there’s some festival going on around the main castle walls. We’ll have to try and find this place again and join in next time.’
Juvia's heart swelled, she was still getting used to these odd moments for Gray when he planned their ‘not-date’ dates, whether he realised it or not. ‘I’d really like that Gray-sama’.
There were some bickering voices in the back, and Gray let out a slightly irritated sigh. ‘Looks like I better get back to the group, sorry we didn’t get to talk for long’.
‘No worries Gray-sama, it was nice to hear your voice’.
‘...yours too, and… I hope getting you the lacrima wasn’t too strange. I just thought that even when we’re apart…’
‘Our hearts will always be connected!’ Juvia finished triumphantly.
“Sure Juvia.’ Gray said with a low laugh. That wasn’t exactly what he was going to say, but it seemed to please her. ‘Talk soon, cya.’
‘Bye Gray-sama!’
The line disconnected to Juvia’s dismay, but she rolled onto her back and squealed again, legs wiggling in the air. She suddenly froze to make sure the line was fully disconnected, and seeing the screen blank she carried on her mini celebration.
Juvia was curious how often Gray would end up calling her, but knowing he had found them a way to communicate when they were apart filled her with joy and she was excited to see what else will change between them in the future.

Chapter 4
-------x-------
From the moment Gray stepped into Aster village, he noticed that the place attracted many cultured people. There were a lot of bookstores, museums and restaurants which was surprising for such a small space. This first impression was the reason why Gray wasn't that surprised by the amount of people at the event. Everyone was wearing fancy outfits, drinking and talking in such a sophisticated manner it made Gray sick. Those kinds of receptions weren’t events he liked to attend. Everyone was so smug and boring.
A waiter passed by and offered them champagne. Gray took a glass. Maybe this wasn’t that bad, after all, he thought.
“So, what do we do?” Lucy asked the group, sipping her own glass of champagne and looking around.
“I dunno, but I’m going to eat. They’re serving some good stuff here. Call me when it’s time to kick some ass!” Natsu said and, before anyone could argue, left to the appetizers table with Happy trailing after him.
“Do we know what this Ludovic dude looks like?” Gray asked.
“No, but since his novel was a big success, he should be the center of attention. It won’t be that hard.” Lucy reasoned.
As if on cue, two young girls passed by them, talking excitedly and holding a book in their hands.  “We should go try to get an autograph from him!” one of them said. “There he is… Oh, Ludovic is so handsome!!” The second one exclaimed.
Gray followed their gaze and saw a man in his early thirties. He looked out of place with his colorful and weird clothes, but everyone seemed to look at him as if he was a divinity. Yeah, that was definitely him. He called his friends’ attention to the purple-haired man. As soon as she spotted him, Lucy choked on her drink and started coughing loudly. Her face was red when she eventually recovered after Erza slapped her back with her usual strength.
“What’s going on, Lucy?” Erza, confusedly asked.
“That man is Bora, that creep me and Natsu fought when we first met. He ran a women trafficking business”
“Lucy-san… what are you talking about?”
Gray looked at Juvia, who looked as pale as paper. Her eyes were bouncing from Lucy to the dude, who they could see from afar had started a talk with the previous girls.
“Juvia, I never told you this story?”
It was then that Juvia learned about Lucy’ first contact with Bora, how he tried to kidnap and sell her and that if it weren’t for Natsu, he would have been successful. When she was done, Juvia's face wasn’t white anymore. It was red.
-x-
Juvia felt her insides boil, Lucy’s story made her anger towards Bora multiply one hundred times. Juvia had never been in love with him, nor even when they were dating. After years of their last encounter, she was able to pinpoint the reason why she dated him in the first place. Loneliness scared her. It didn’t matter that he was a terrible partner, always complaining about her unusual way of talking, her clothes, her shyness and her rain because at least she had someone by her side.
From their meeting in the library she had already guessed that Bora hadn’t changed his terrible behavior, but hearing Lucy’s story caught her by surprise. Sure, he had been a douche with her, but she never would imagine that he was involved with human traffic of all things. It was just so bizarre. However, thinking of it, many years passed from their breakup to Lucy joining Fairy Tail, he could have become a criminal in that time gap.
Juvia probably had a weird look on her face while all those thoughts went through her head because suddenly she felt Erza’s hand on her shoulder. She blinked and looked at her friends who were staring at her.
“Are you okay, Juvia?”
“It’s okay, Erza-san. Juvia was just thinking about what Lucy-san went through and that made her angry.”
That answer seemed to be enough for the redhead, who went quiet. Juvia took a glass of champagne from the waiter and tried to look cool. A few moments later, Erza raised her head in resolution. She had a plan.
"Lucy, you will look after Natsu so that he doesn’t see Bora and get in a fight with him. Me and Juvia will try to get some information. He looks like he’ll open up if there’s women involved.”
Juvia didn’t feel comfortable with that idea. She wasn’t very good at pretending, nor at hiding her feelings and it wouldn’t be helpful to their mission if she suddenly lashed out at Bora - or Ludovic, for that matter. Would it be worth it?
She suddenly felt warmth on her shoulders, A hand caressed her bare shoulder and nape. Gray was smiling at her.
“It’s going to be fine. You got this.” he said.
Well, it wouldn’t be that bad, would it?
“Juvia will go with you, Erza-san!” She nodded to motivate herself and turned to Gray. “Thank you, Gray-sama, for encouraging Juvia.” She kissed his cheek and grabbed Erza’s hand, dragging her through the crowd. She didn’t see her redhead friend looking back at a very flushed Gray, who stuck his tongue out after he noticed he was being observed.
Erza walked confidently to Bora with Juvia trailing after her, who seemed to be done talking with the ladies. He was sipping a glass of champagne while listening to an old man. When he spotted her friend, his face seemed to change. He quickly dismissed the guest and opened a gallant smile.
“Excuse me, are you Ludovic? I’m such a fan of your work!”
She was impressed at Erza’s skills, she really was tempting. Juvia could say she would have felt the effects of her seduction herself if she didn’t only have eyes for her Gray.
The man mumbled with disinterest, which appalled the water mage. However, what surprised her even more was how his attention turned to her completely.
“Your face isn’t new to me, miss. It’s a pleasant surprise to see you here.”
She froze with shock. Did Bora finally recognize her? That could end their plan in a heartbeat.
“You didn’t tell me your name at the library. Will you end the suspense for me, please?”
Oh.
“Juvia.”
“And I’m Erza Scarlet. We’re from Fairy Tail.”
Still, Bora didn’t show any reaction to hearing her name. He really forgot about her.
“It’s such an honor to have such beautiful and powerful mages here.” He smiled quickly at Erza, then turned to Juvia again. “You’re a lucky girl, Juvia. I have a thing for ladies with blue hair.”
Juvia felt a chill through her whole body. He didn’t even care about Erza and had the courage to flirt so openly with her. This was really…
“Uh, thank you, Ludovic-san.”
“Look, my agenda’s full for this week, but I can talk to my manager and find a gap to take you out and show you the best of this place before you go back to your guild.”
With a wink, he kissed Juvia’s hand. “See you around, Erika.” He said before waving them goodbye and disappearing into the crowd.
Erza looked as shocked as Juvia herself with what had just happened. After recomposing herself, she turned to Juvia.
“I’m glad I dragged you with me. Now we can get more information about him! Come, let’s tell everyone what we found!
