Stuck in 1903 (Part 3)

part one part two kai parker works

Summary - kai relives the first time that the two of you find common ground, and bonnie uncovers there is an unexpected enemy in the ranks of cade (1.1k)

warnings - angst, mentions of death and abuse, slight allusion of smut mention, mf gang being bad friends, fluff

He had shut his eyes and there she was before him, a memory, but somehow she was real. Kai could feel her hand as she stroked his face, how his ears reacted to her voice. The heretic had been shocked, but this was not a sick game, it had been real, too real, and he felt a sense of hope for the first time on his life.

He was seated in his own personal hell, a ticking smile on his lips as he thought of his previous visitor, and I know what you may be thinking; it was not Bonnie Bennet. She was here before him, interrogating him but he could only utter a breathy and deep laugh of amusement, finding hilarity in all of the problems that the mystic fall gang were facing, and as their last resort they had come to him. It was amusing really, to think that he would ever help them after all of the battles they had exchanged, and seemingly Kai had lost, which was why Bonnie couldn’t place why Kai was smiling as though he had won against them.

“Tell me what you know Kai.” Bonnie pursued, hungry for the information that looped around his cracked mind, but he could only shake his unruly head as he rested in the arms of the unbreakable chains. “Kai!” Her continuation hadn’t persuaded him any further, but he knew that eventually he would allow the truth to slip so that he could witness the horror drown her hardened and frowning face.

“You really must be desperate Bon Bon if you’re here instead of out in the real world. It’s quite peaceful here if you counteract the fact that I’m unable to stand up and that terrible song that keeps repeating. And to think this is my hell… we’ll it’s not that bad if you can’t keep her away…”

Bonnie’s head tilted as she dared to step closer to the sociopath that had endlessly aggravated them and tormented every good thing that had blossomed after she escaped from the substitute for the other side. “Her… who are you talking about Kai?”

“Oh that’s right, you don’t know she’s back yet. Oops. Maybe you want to figure out who she is first before you get ready to fight against her whilst you’ve already got this Cade issue on your hands. She already sees you as her enemy, after all you put her through.” His eyebrow quirked as he momentarily thought that the witch would catch on, however he made that assumption too soon as she continued to stoically frown at him. “You didn’t even look for her after she sacrificed herself for you and your little friends, you’d brought plenty of people back when they died, but apparently she wasn’t important enough to you for you to do that for her. And then you screwed her over again when we all finally got out of that prison world.”

He was angry with her, the girl that he had first met in the prison world had never deserved such treatment. She had been a good person, until they had made her the villain. “Y/n…” Bonnie whispered, eyes bulging out of her head at the realisation. “But how?”

“At least you got something right Bon Bon, I was doubting that brain of yours for a second. But if you want to know how she’s alive and we’ll know, you’re going to have to remember the whole story..”

In the 1994 Prison World

“Kai, why are you being so nice to me?” You asked him as you stood still during the dance, tilting your head at his unusual behaviour. “And why did you follow me here, I thought we had a deal.” Your voice became stern as you loosened your arms around his neck, frowning at the way Kai lightly smiled. He had been acting strange, well stranger than usual, and

“Technically that deal was unfinished, I’m still holding out for the rest but, not right now.” Kai’s hands softened on your waist as he could not help but look softly into your eyes. “Do you see why I kept you away from Bonnie and Damon? It was only a matter of time until they hurt you again, and I knew from the first time that I saw you that you had the look of someone that had been betrayed by the ones you held dearest. It’s the same way I’d look in the mirror every morning after my father hit me, or my sister Jo told me she wish she’d had a different twin. I know how you feel, and I just wanted you to know that I’d never treat you like that. In this place, I’m the only person that you can trust.”

“Kai…” you ushered, about to continue your words until Kai placed his finger on your lip, stopping you from doing so.

“Don’t say anything. I just want you to know that I’m here, and when we get out I’m going to protect you from the ones that were willing to let your memory rot and get on with their lives.” He spat out, anger burning his chest as he thought of all the criminals he had yet to meet. He couldn’t understand why anyone would allow you to be the most selfless person in their world yet wouldn’t return the favour for you.

“We’re getting out?” You were shocked by his words, your voice coming out as a faint whisper, but he was close enough to you so that he could hear it. A smile wrangled his face as he leant closer to you, allowing your breath to mingle with his own.

“Oh we are, now that your friend Bonnie’s here, we can use her magic. And then we’ll be home free, there won’t be a lack of life unless we cause it. I won’t let anyone hurt you again y/n…. You’re the only friend I’ve ever truly had, and so I won’t treat you the way they did. I promise.” He held out his pinky finger, and without resilience this time, you wrapped your own around his, smiling up at him through your lashes.

“That means a lot Kai.” You said as you thought of all the empty promises your friends had made to you. “So how are we going to convince Bonnie to create a veil through this world to the real one and bring us with her?”

“Oh I wouldn’t worry about that gorgeous, I have some things in mind.” He shot you a wink before slipping out of your grasp, walking towards the door of the grill, but not before glancing back at you. “Are you not joining me pretty, we’ve got some things to get in order.”

I cringed when I saw this because it literally makes no fucking sense: "Okay maybe an unpopular opinion... But Steroline was better than Stelena. And Bamon was better than Delena. SORRY. SORRY. But it just was. Stefan and Damon just had better chemistry and storyline with Caroline and Bonnie than they did with Elena. Don’t get me wrong, Delena had undeniable chemistry but that lasted only for the first three seasons. Once they got together, that chemistry kind of died down. And it makes me realize that the majority of their chemistry stemmed from the trope: “will they, won’t they”, or “forbidden lovers”. They knew they shouldn’t be together or even attracted together because of Stefan and it’s complicated, and because of that fact, it made their scenes every more angsty and hotter. But when they did get together, it’s like…. eh. Where as Bonnie and Damon, they had chemistry from the jump, I argue. And even when they got “together” aka being best friends, they STILL had that intense chemistry and angst that was needed. And don’t get me started on how Damon’s original promise of protecting the Bennet bloodline?? And how Bonnie hated his guts and Damon was terribly annoyed by her?? Is that not a set up for a enemies to lover orrrr??? And Steroline just felt sweeter. Like eating dutch apple pie. It was a classic friends to lovers. And it has one of my favorite pairings, “the erratic girlfriend x calm, collected boyfriend”. And I just love how Caroline was Stefan’s vampire “sponsor”, and then how Stefan was technically Caroline’s first vampire friend, and how he helped her with her transition. It’s just fucking sweet. And I firmly believe that Caroline was in love with Stefan from the jump. Maybe not in love, but she definitely loved him, and that’s why she was always so judgemental and adament towards Elena about picking Stefan, because it’s what she would’ve—and wanted to—done." What do you have to say about it?

Yes, Elena would be mad the second time. But tbh, she has no right to be. If she didn't want Damon sleeping with Rebekah the second time, she should've been open about her feelings. The problem isn't Damon or Elena, it's Stefan. He's hiding the truth from both of them so that Damon continues to lash out. Getting Damon to lash out gives Stefan time to try to patch things up with her. She's still mad at Damon in 3x18, but once he gets taken, she's ready to save him because being mad doesn't mean she wants him dead. She's still in love with him. That's when Stefan confronts Elena about her feelings for Damon and sends her to Denver. Once they hit Denver, Damon knows Stefan's deal but Elena doesn't. Stefan manipulates the situation until he can't manipulate it anymore.

When Stef Met 'Lena

“Now this looks perfect.” Caroline clapped her hands together, she felt proud of what Elena, and she had accomplished.

“Caroline, you do realize that you’re saying this for the fifth time, right?” asked Elena.

“I know, I know, I’m sorry. But this time’s for sure. This is exactly what we want. Would you mind going through the checklist for the fourth time?” said Caroline with a pretty please face that she knew Elena couldn’t resist.

Both of the most hard-working and dedicated employees of The Salvatore Industries worked day and night to bring this event into place. They loved the scene in front of them. A big hall specially booked for the ‘Salvatore Industries Annual Corporate Event’.

The hall was decorated with every shade of white flowers, with round tables arranged flawlessly in front of the main stage. It was the first time that Elena had a chance to organize this big of an event and it was crucial for her job. Caroline and she made a good team together, Caroline kept everything in check and Elena helped with new innovative ideas. The event was about to start in a couple of hours, and they were equally nervous as well as excited about it.

The moment of truth finally came, their esteemed guests started arriving and the duo greeted them with their sheer hospitality. For the important evening, Elena decided to wear a black dress that stopped right before her knees, it was a lacey bodycon dress, and her hair was tied in a fishtail braid, to compliment her outfit she wore a pair of black heels. Caroline on the other hand wore a golden slit bodycon dress with her hair side parted and a pair of black footwear to complete her outfit.

The nervousness was taken over by the emotion of excitement as they could the event falling into place, they both felt delighted at the sight in front of them. The Salvatore brothers finally made an appearance, both of them were dressed in a tuxedo. Sure, both of them looked equally handsome but Elena couldn’t take her eyes off the green-eyed Salvatore.

Stefan looked classy, elegant, sleek, and attractive in a way. Perhaps it was wrong on Elena’s part to think of her boss in that way, but the man was so fine that it was close to impossible to not have a good stare. While Elena was lost in her thoughts, she forgot that her Boss was approaching her, she abruptly turned her back towards him pretending to be busy, and she heard the man say,

“I am not used to scaring people away.”

Elena let out a sigh realizing that her act had been caught, she closed her eyes for a second and then turned towards Stefan. “People are uncomfortable around Salvatores in tuxes,” she replied with a subtle smile.

“Good evening, Mr. Salvatore,” she greeted her boss.

“Good evening, ‘Lena,” Stefan smiled at her.

All the guests arrived on time and were seated in their allotted seats, Damon and Stefan greeted the crowd which was followed by an award distribution ceremony conducted to appreciate the hard-working employees of The Salvatore Industries. After the award distribution, the stage was taken up by the band specially invited to grace the event.

The energy in the room was aesthetically pleasing. The dim lights with some live music in the background set the mood just right. All the employees and clients interacted with each other while enjoying their drinks and other delicacies served to them.

Elena had to use the restroom, so she proceeded toward the ladies’ room but was stopped by the familiar noises from the alley.

“Why don’t you understand Stefan? This is important for our company. And I don’t care if you are with me on this one or not. With or without you, I’m signing this deal anyway.”

“You know you cannot do that Damon. We equally own the company shares and you can’t do anything without my consent. And we cannot turn our back on one of the oldest and the most important clients just because they are having a hard time. If you take up that deal, it might jeopardize our existing relationship.”

“Well, sometimes Stefan it’s better to let go,” yelled Damon and walked back to the party. Meanwhile, Stefan just stood there in anguish. The relationship between the brothers has never been smooth but Stefan had hoped that one day it would change, but each time he has met nothing but disappointment.

Elena realized that she was eavesdropping, and she had the urge to go and comfort Stefan but then she decided against it and joined back the party.

She saw Caroline wave at her as she waited for her with two glasses of champagne. Elena waved back at her and faked a smile. She took one of the glasses from Caroline and took a sip from it. “Isn’t it a wonderful evening? Cheers to us for making this happen,” grinned Caroline.

“Yes, it sure is Caroline,” Elena smiled subtly.

Elena was still lost in her thoughts; she knew how important that client was to Stefan. They were Stefan’s first-ever clients, and she knew how loyal Stefan was toward each of his clients he couldn’t stand the thought of signing a deal behind their backs. Damon was certainly wrong in this situation, but she knew it wasn’t her place to say anything, after all, she was just a receptionist.

Elena took out her phone to check the time and her phone screen suggested 11:03 pm. Caroline and Elena had wrapped up the event and fortunately, everything went as planned. But Stefan didn’t make an appearance after greeting the crown earlier that evening. Elena wondered where he was and was genuinely worried about him.

“I guess it’s time to go,” said Caroline but didn’t hear a response from Elena, “Elena?” she repeated.

“Yes, Caroline. I’m listening.”

“Well then let’s get going, it’s pretty late.”

“You know what Caroline, I think I should do some last-minute checks, you can go. I’ll take a cab home,” Elena suggested.

“Are you sure?” asked Caroline.

“Yes Caroline, I am sure. Goodnight, and have a good weekend,” reassured Elena.

“Goodnight Elena.”

Elena decided to take a look around the hall hoping to find Stefan somewhere. She looked everywhere but the bar and thought, ' Maybe he left for home’. Her thoughts were interrupted by the voice of glass clanking against the floor. She realized that the noise came from the bar and decided to check it out.

To her surprise she found Stefan sitting on the floor…drunk. The surprise was not to find her boss there but to find him in such a miserable condition. Instinctively she decided to help him.

“Mr. Salvatore? Is everything all right? Let me call a cab for you.”

As Elena stood up to call a cab, she felt her hand being held by Stefan, he grabbed her hand and asked her, “Please sit with me Elena, will you?”

Elena knew that it was not the right thing to do, she could not repeat the same mistake as earlier. She did not want to live with the same regret yet again. But at the same time, she couldn’t deny him, not when he was drunk, miserable, and vulnerable. Elena decided to give her boss some company because it was her job to look after him. She sat beside him resting her back against the wall and placed her hand on Stefan’s shoulder to assure him that he wasn’t alone. Stefan gently held her hand and squeezed it once as a gesture to say, ‘Thank you’.

They both sat in silence, but this silence was not awkward at all. This silence was intimate and understanding. Elena was fighting with her feelings and finding the difference between professional courtesy and genuine care for someone. That someone was Stefan. She sure cared about him, she was Elena, and she cared about everyone, but she knew the way she cared about Stefan was…different.

“Come on Mr. Salvatore, let’s get you home. It’s almost midnight,” demanded Elena. She hated to demand her boss like that, but someone had to take charge as Stefan was acting like a stubborn little boy.

Elena helped Stefan to stand up on his feet, but it was difficult for him to maintain his balance, so Elena wrapped one of his arms around her shoulders and held him by his waist to make sure he didn’t trip. It wasn’t easy for her to carry him to the cab as he was taller and stronger than her, but somehow, she managed.

At first, she thought of leaving Stefan alone in the cab but something inside of her told her that it wasn’t right. She had to make sure that Stefan reached home safely so she accompanied him to his home.

They reached Stefan’s place. Stefan lived in a luxury apartment that gave a perfect view of the serene city lights from the living room. Everything was neat. Elena could see that Stefan was an organized person. But this wasn’t the time to appreciate the interiors of Stefan’s apartment, she had more important things to take care of.

Stefan directed Elena toward his bedroom, and she helped him walk to his bedroom. Gently Elena helped Stefan sit on his bed, “I’ll get some water for you, Mr. Salvatore.” Stefan simply nodded while rubbing his temples firmly.

When Elena came back with a glass of water in her hands, she just stood there at the doorframe to admire the sight in front of her, Stefan lay down on his bed and was almost asleep. He looked so innocent and calm. All Elena wanted to do was admire him with awe. She slowly walked inside the room and placed the glass of water on his nightstand.

“‘Lena?” she heard Stefan call her.

“Yes, Mr. Salvatore.” She leaned in closer to him and sat on the edge of his bed to hear him.

Stefan’s hand searched for Elena’s hand, as he felt her hands in his he held onto them tightly and looked deep into Elena’s eyes, “I wanted to say something to you for a while now ‘Lena, I think I love you.”

Elena’s mind went blank at those words, a part of her wished to disappear but a part of her wanted to cherish the moment. Who would not want to hear these words from such a fine man? So lovable and respectful. But Elena had to make decisions rationally. She had a job, and she could not risk losing it. ‘Maybe it’s just the drunk him speaking’ thought Elena to herself.

“I think you should get some sleep, Mr. Salvatore,” saying that Elena left his apartment and decided to have a talk with Stefan on Monday morning.

Elena reached her office earlier than usual on Monday morning, she was still in fix about last Friday night and hoped that Stefan only said those things because he was drunk. Elena was in a file room arranging some important files, she heard the door open and turned her attention in the direction of the door and found Stefan walking towards her.

“Um…morning Elena.”

“Good morning, Mr. Salvatore.” Elena turned her attention back to her work.

“Can we…talk?” asked Stefan.

“Yes, sure. What is it, Mr. Salvatore?”

“About how I confessed something to you, and you just left without acknowledging my feelings.”

Elena felt a lump forming in her throat. She thought that he wasn’t fully conscious when he said those words to her. But on the contrary, Stefan remembered everything. It scared her a little, she didn’t know how to react to this, she was blank, again.

“Elena? I’m talking to you?”

Elena tried to gather her thoughts and rip off the band-aid all at once.

“Yes, I’m listening, but there’s nothing to talk about Mr. Salvatore. You were drunk and I helped you. That’s it.” she replied.

“And thank you for taking care of me when I was not at my best. I am grateful for that ‘Lena. But I meant what I said and look I don’t expect an answer, but I want you to know that I was completely serious about what I said.”

Elena was at a loss for words, she didn’t know what to say, “I…don’t know how to react to that Mr. Salvatore. Our relationship is professional, and I do not wish to go against professional conduct and be involved with someone from work. I am sorry but I don’t have the same feelings for you as you do Mr. Salvatore.”

Stefan was not convinced by Elena’s words, he asked, “No that’s not it. I know you have felt it too Elena. There is some other reason…”

“I don’t…” Elena cut him off and Stefan raised his eyebrow in question.

“I don’t want people to think that I got this job because the boss fell for me, I know I earned this job, this position I hold right now. And I sure don’t want to lose this job, Mr. Salvatore. I am desperate and I can’t let anything come in the way of that. So, it will be my humble request to keep our relationship professional.”

Stefan’s face had a hint of disappointment and hurt. He expected a lot of different reactions on Elena’s part, but this was beyond expectation. He did not want to believe the words he heard, he still wanted to believe in his feelings, but it was also true that he did not have any option.

“Okay, okay. I can completely understand how you feel and why you feel that way. So, I guess, have a nice day ahead Ms. Gilbert.”

“You too Mr. Salvatore.”

With that, Stefan left the room and Elena just stood there in her spot, she was not the kind of person to hurt someone intentionally, she was compassionate and empathetic. But she knew this was the right thing to do, she knew it was an important decision.

So here are few facts about me-:

I love reading and writing, some my favorite books are the twisted series, haunting and hunting adeline, yhe folk of air series and many more.

I am a Minor!!!!

I am a Pisces. My birthday is on 14th of March.

I am an Indian, so there might be a few fics where I have used my language which is Hindi, don't worry there will be translation given as I know not many know this language of mine.

My personality type is ENFJ-T, which is the protagonist personality (If you didn't understand, which at first even I didn't)

If I had an option for having a second house then I would be a Slytherin, now when I first took the quiz I got Ravenclaw but after that I took it again (cuz why not) and I got Slytherin. Your life was perfect. You had the perfect husband, perfect friends, perfect house, perfect job, and a perfect, little 2 year old girl.

Your husband was the infamous Salvatore vampire, Stefan. Your best friends were Caroline Forbes and Bonnie Bennet. Your house was cozy and cute, a perfect fit for you and you little family. You worked as a surgeon for Mystic Falls Hospital, and your little 2 year old was named Annie Salvatore. She was the light of your life, other than your husband, of course.

You went around the kitchen table, wiping it down. Today was cleaning day for you and the family. You were in charge of the kitchen, Annie was in charge of her play room, and Stefan was in charge of the living room. You two decided to tackle the upstairs together when you were finished with the downstairs.

“Mommy, mommy!” Annie exclaimed, running into the kitchen.

“What, baby?” You asked, putting the wet towel in the sink.

“Daddy is kissing Elena!” Annie said.

You furrowed your brows, smiling a little. “What? Honey, I think you’re hallucinating. Daddy is cleaning the living room.”

Annie shook her head, frowning. “No, they’re in the living room kissing like you and Daddy do.”

“I…” you trailed off, speechless. You decided to see what Annie meant, sure that she was just making things up.

You took her hand, going in to the living room. Your jaw went slack as you saw your husband indeed kissing Elena Gilbert.

“Annie, go to your room, okay?” You ordered.

Annie nodded and ran off, leaving you confused and angry.

“What the fuck!” You exclaimed.

Stefan pushed Elena away, his eyes wide and full of guilt. “Y/n, i-it’s not what you think!”

“Wh… Why?” You asked, feeling your eyes water and the bridge of you nose burn.

Elena smirked. “Guess he got bored of you.”

You looked to her, scoffing as hot tears began to run down your face. “Why are you here? H-How did you even get in here?”

“I came in through the window that was open in your guys’s bedroom. You guys should really close it,” Elena smiled.

“I…. Why are you here?” You asked.

“Well, I just missed Stefan, especially since after you stole him away from me 4 years ago,” Elena glared at you.

“What the hell? You chose Damon. You left Stefan and chose Damon. Who by the way, I’m sure will be so happy to hear his wife cheating on him with his brother!” Elena rolled her eyes. “Please, we’re both cheating on each other left and right. It won’t matter.”

You shook your head, not believing your ears. You turned to Stefan, seeing him looking at you with tears of his own in his eyes.

“You. Why are you crying?” You asked.

“Because, this wasn’t what it looked like. I-”

You shook your head, cutting him off. “I-Is this why you are getting more d-distant from me? From Annie? Making up excuses to go and “h-hang out” with Jeremy and Damon?”

Maybe life wasn’t as perfect as you made it seem.

Stefan shook his head. “No, no. I really do hang out with them. I’m telling you, I didn’t do this.”

“Oh, yeah?” You laughed sourly. “Then what did happen? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure I saw you kissing Elena, your hands all over her.” “She-”

“No,” you said. “I… I change my mind. I don’t want to know.”

Stefan moved close to you, but you walked back, not wanting to be near him.

“Y/n, please. Let me explain,” Stefan pleaded.

You shook your head. “No. I don’t need it.”

You then left to go upstairs to your bedroom, finding two suitcases. You put them on the bed, starting to stuff clothes and your toiletries. You took a few cherished picture of you and your friends and Annie when she was a baby, leaving the ones with Stefan.

“Y/n, wait. Wha-What are you doing?” Stefan asked, seeing you pack in the doorway.

“Going,” you answered shortly. You zipped up the suitcase, getting another small one out for Annie and putting it on her bed in her room.

“Where? Why? We can work this out, Y/n. Please, let me explain,” Stefan said, coming over to you. He put his hand on the small of you back lightly, but you swatted his arm away.

“Don’t touch me,” you sneered through a clenched jaw and tears.

Stefan moved back from you, tears burning in his eyes. “Then at least tell me where you’re going?”

“I don’t know. Maybe my sister’s,” you said.

“B-But that’s all the way in New York,” Stefan said.

“I know,” you said, going out of the bedroom to find Annie. You found her playing with her Barbie dolls.

“Hey, Annie, Mommy and you are taking a trip,” you said, crouching down.

“Where!” Annie exclaimed.

“To Auntie Penny’s house,” you answered.

“Mommy, why are you and Daddy crying?” Annie asked. pointing to Stefan who was standing in the doorway.

“Um… we’re going to take a break from being together,” you said.

“Why?” Annie asked.

You looked into her eyes, smiling sadly. “Because, it’s what we need. Daddy and I have been in a little trouble, not anything super bad, but it can affect you in a bad way when you're older, so you and me are leaving.”

Annie looked to Stefan, running over and hugging his legs. “I love you, Daddy.”

Stefan picked her up, hugging his daughter tightly. “I love you, baby.” While he said this, he looked to you, hoping you would change your mind, but you didn’t.

Stefan sighed, setting Annie down. “Go and get packed, alright? I have to speak with mommy.”

Annie nodded, running to her room. Stefan then walked up to you, anger in his eyes.

“You can’t just take her,” Stefan protested.

“Yes, I can. You are the one who decided to cheat. We made vows when we got married, and you broke them,” you argued.

“If you’d just let me explain, then you would understand!” Stefan exclaimed.

“No, I wouldn’t! I saw what I saw and whatever reasoning you have, won’t fix it,” you said, shoving past him.

Stefan grabbed your arm, pulling you back to face him. “Y/n, why won’t you listen to me? You know that I would never hurt you intentionally.”

“I’m just done competing with Elena,” you said, looking into his green eyes. “We’ve been at this for 5 years, and she won today. I’m done.” “You’re just gonna give up then?” Stefan asked. You saw his eyes turning red and small veins start to circulate under his eyes.

“Yeah. I am,” you spat and move out of his grip, going over to Annie’s bedroom.

You put a smile on your face. “Hey, honey, you ready?”

“Yeah!” Annie said, zipping up her suitcase. In her hand, she held the stuffed elephant Stefan had picked out when you found out you were pregnant with her.

You smiled, “Great. Let’s go, okay?”

Annie nodded, turning to Stefan. “I’ll see you soon, Daddy!”

Stefan smiled sadly. “Yeah. See you soon.”

You went to load up your suitcases in your car, strapping Annie into her carseat. You didn’t bother saying goodbye to Stefan, knowing that if you did, you’d probably end up kissing him and sleeping with him.

You left the house, making your way to your sister’s apartment to start a new life.

6 years later and you and Annie were living in an apartment in New York. Annie was an 8 year old vampire (secretly), and in elementary school, and you were a single-mother surgeon who happened to be very successful.

Life was quiet and nice. It was just the two of you most times. You weren’t dating anyone. You actually hadn’t been dating at all since you moved. Sure, you went on a few dates, but no one really stuck. As much as you hated to admit it, you missed Stefan. And the fact that your ring was in your dresser and the fact that you two were still legally married didn’t help. But you knew that leaving was the right thing. You had been competing with Elena since you had met Stefan. Even though she chose Damon, she still wanted him, and when you saw them kissing, something in you broke. A little part of you, deep down inside where you suppressed most things, wished you would have stayed. You wished you would have listened to what he had to say. You knew Annie wished that, too. As she got older, she was able to put the pieces together on why you actually left. She resented you a little bit for not listening to Stefan, but you two never talked about it.

Back in Virginia, Stefan was miserable. He basically went on a ripper binge after you left. Tore through every little town, going all the way from Virginia to Florida. His best friend Lexi got him through the hard times, though. Reminding him that someday, you two would cross paths again and be together. She truly believed you were soulmates, and she never let Stefan forget that.

So one day while working out to battle the blood cravings, Stefan had decided to drive up to New York to try and find you. He knew that if he wanted to work it out with you, he would have to go up himself and try, not let fate decide and take forever. Plus, you were human, you didn’t have forever like he did. So, he told Lexi his plan and of course, she thought it was great, and invited herself to the little road trip Stefan was going on.

They arrived in New York six hours after driving.

“God, my legs are so stiff,” Lexi groaned as she she stepped out of the car.

“I told you we couldn’t just used our vamp speed to get here,” Stefan chuckled.

“Well, then my legs would get tired. Just ‘cause I’m a vampire, doesn’t mean I don’t experience fatigue,” Lexi said, stretching out on the parking lot ground.

“Ah, true,” Stefan chuckled.

He looked around the city, thinking of you.

“You thinking’ about her?” Lexi asked.

Stefan nodded wordlessly. Lexi smiled and came up to him, putting her hand on his shoulder.

“She will take you back. Y/n is a smart girl. She was just hurt after seeing you and Elena and when people are hurt, they can get impulsive,” Lexi said.

“I know. I just hope she’ll want to talk to me now,” he sighed.

“He will. I have no doubt,” Lexi smiled.

Stefan looked to her and smiled. “Thanks, Lex.”

“No problem! Alright, do you want to go now or tomorrow morning?” Lexi asked.

“We can go tomorrow. We need to find where she lives first,” Stefan said.

“Alright,” Lexi nodded. “Does she still work as a surgeon?”

Stefan nodded. “Probably. Let's go and sneak into the hospital.”

Lexi jumped up excitedly. “This is gonna be so fun! We haven't broken into a place since 1995!”

Stefan chuckled, “We aren’t breaking in. We’re just gonna see if Y/n is in the system.”

“Right, right. Well, let’s go and break in!” Lexi exclaimed, running to the nearest hospital.

“Not gonna break in!” Stefan stated, following her.

They went to the hospital, sneaking into one of the open windows.

“So happy it’s nighttime,” Lexi smiled.

“Me, too,” Stefan said.

Lexi and him snuck around the halls, spotting a nurse at her computer. Lexi came up to her and compelled her to come back in 15 minutes. Stefan went to sit down in the chair, looking you up in the databases.

“She lives 15 minutes away from here,” Stefan said.

“Perfect! Writes her address down, we’ll go in the morning,” Lexi said.

Stefan nodded, grabbing a sticky note and jotting your dress down. They then left to go back to their hotel, waiting until the morning. Stefan and Lexi woke up at 5, knowing that you probably had to be at work at 6. They drove to your apartment, Stefan looked at your front door anxiously. Lexi sensed his nervousness and put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

“You’ll do great, Stef,” Lexi said.

“What if she shuts the door in my face?” Stefan frowned.

“If she does, then I’ll bust down her door and hold her hostage until she agrees to talk to you,” Lexi smirked.

Stefan chuckled, “No, please. Don’t do that.”

Lexi grinned, “No promises! Now, go up there and show her what you’re made of!”

Stefan sighed and rubbed his hands on his jeans, nodding. “Alright.” He then got out of the car. He picked up the flowers that he had stole on the way there and made his way up to the door. He knocked on it quickly, running a hand through his hair.

“One moment!” He heard you call out from inside.

The sound of your voice made his heart flutter. He hadn’t heard it in 6 years.

The door opened shortly after, revealing you to be eating a banana in your scrubs. Stefan stared at you in amazement. You hadn’t aged a day since he last saw you. He looked immediately to your left hand and his mood dampened as didn’t see your wedding ring. He didn’t let that get his hopes down too much, though.

“Hi, sorry I-” You stopped speaking as you realised it was Stefan.

“Oh, hi,” you said, shifting your weight onto your left side. You eyes roamed his face, seeing a warm, friendly smile on his face.

“Hey,” Stefan smiled softly. He held out the bouquet. “These are for you.”

You couldn’t help but smile, taking the flowers. “Thank you. Um, what are you doing here?”

“I.. I wanted to find you and now that I have, I wanted to talk to you. Maybe take you out to lunch or dinner?” Stefan asked.

You sighed and shook your head. “I… I’m busy. I have work and-”

“Mom! Have you seen my science textbook? I can’t find it- woah. Dad?”

You and Stefan looked to see Annie standing behind you, eyes wide and mouth agape.

“Annie?” Stefan asked, also in disbelief.

Annie’s lips upturned into a smile. She ran past you and to her father.

“Dad! You’re here!” She exclaimed, hugging his waist tightly.

Stefan hugged her back. “Hey, sweetie. I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you, too, Dad.” Annie then looked up to you. “Why didn’t you tell me Dad was coming?”

“Cause I didn’t know,” you answered.

“Oh. Well, what’re you doing here?” Annie asked Stefan.

“I’ve come to see if your mother wants to talk and work things out. Maybe take her out to lunch. Or dinner,” Stefan said, looking at you.

Annie jumped up excitedly. “Did you say yes, Mom?”

“No,” you said.

Annie glared at you. “Please?”

“Annie, no. I’m busy,” you argued.

Annie turned her whole body towards you. “Why can’t you just forgive him? He never liked Elena! ARGH!” She then stormed off and went back to her room.

You sighed, putting your hand on your forehead. “God, Stef, see what you did?”

“Y/n, please. I promise you won’t regret it. Do it for Annie,” Stefan begged.

You looked into his forrest green eyes, letting yourself getting lost in them. “I… fine,” you said helplessly.

Stefan grinned, “Great! Dinner or lunch?”

“Um, dinner,” you said, looking away.

“Cool. I’ll pick you up at 7. You won’t regret it. I promise,” Stefan said.

You nodded. “Alright. It was um… it was nice seeing you again.”

“I am so glad you said yes, Mom. You won’t regret it,” Annie grinned. She tied the back of your dress up.

“I hope so,” you muttered. You got up from your chair, going over to your full-body mirror to see how you looked.

You had decided to wear a velvet, maroon-coloured dress. It had a plunging neckline and long-sleeves. You had black, closed-toed heels on and a black purse to match. Your had worn a light, smokey-eye and a red lip to match. You had silver dangling earrings and a silver necklace on.

“You look so beautiful, Mom,” Annie complimented genuinely.

“You think so?” You smiled at your daughter.

“Yep,” she nodded.

“Thank you,” you breathed out. You walked to your dresser to grab a few bracelets and spotted your wedding ring in the drawer. Annie noticed what her mother was staring and walked up to it.

“Wear it,” Annie said.

“Nah,” you shook your head, beginning to close to drawer, but Annie stopped you.

“Please? You can just wear it on your middle finger or something,” Annie pleaded.

You looked into her green eyes, the same ones her father had. You sighed in defeat, knowing that it would disappoint Annie if you said no.

“Alright,” you said, taking out the ring and putting it on your ring finger on your right hand.

“Yay! Wow, it’s so pretty,” Annie took her mother’s hand and admired the ring.

“Yep. Your dad knew how to pick jewellery,” you chuckled, reminiscing memories between you and Stefan.

Your doorbell rang suddenly, making you jump.

“C’mon, he’s here!” Annie exclaimed.

You nodded and walked to the front door, opening it to reveal Stefan. You were taken aback as you saw him wearing a simple tuxedo, looking like the most handsome man on earth. Stefan’s breath was taken away as well once he saw you.

“Wow you look… wow,” Stefan breathed out, his eyes roaming all over your body. He noticed the ring on your finger. Even though it wasn’t on the correct hand, it gave him hope.

You blushed at his gaze, looking down. “Thank you. You look really good, too.”

Stefan smiled and noticed Annie standing behind you.

“Hey, Annie,” he said.

“Hey, Dad!” Annie smiled.

Stefan turned back to you. “Ready to go?”

Y/n nodded and turned to Annie. “Penny will be here in 5 minutes. Do not cause any trouble. Call me if you need anything.”

Annie nodded, rolling her eyes. You stepped out of your apartment, closing and locking the door. Stefan walked you to his car, opening your door.

“Thank you,” you said.

“You’re welcome,” Stefan shot you a dazzling smile.

Stefan drove you two to an Italian restaurant that looked vacant.

“Did you take me here to kill me,” you joked.

“No, actually, I took you here to make you dinner,” Stefan explained.

“Wow, cooking for me on the first date? Seems familiar,” you teased, referencing to your first date. Stefan had taken you to his home and cooked you the most delicious dinner you ever had.

Stefan grinned. “You loved my cooking, don’t deny.”

“You’re right. I did,” you chuckled.

You two made eye contact as you got out of the car. You found yourself remembering how easy it was to talk to him. How well you two clicked, even after not talking to each other for 6 years. But your relationship had always been that way. You always had that spark with each other.

Stefan walked you into the restaurant, turning on the lights. The whole place lit up, revealing chandeliers and fancy booths.

“Wow, nice choice,” you said, looking around. “How did you get it empty?”

“I had to compel people to leave,” Stefan answered.

You frowned, “Stefan! You didn’t have to do that. You could’ve just taken me to the place you were staying at.”

“Lexi and I are staying at a dingy hotel. This is so much better,” Stefan said.

“Lexi’s here?” You asked.

“Yeah, she wanted to come,” Stefan explained. “Hm. Maybe we can all hang out later,” you suggested.

“Yeah. maybe,” Stefan smiled.

He walked you to the kitchen, grabbing you a stool to sit on.

“Hm, so romantic,” you joked.

Stefan smiled, “It’ll get better. I promise.”

You hummed and set your purse down on the counter, making yourself comfortable on the stool. Stefan came over with a bottle of wine, pouring you a glass. You took the glass, taking a big sip.

“Long day?” Stefan asked, getting out food from the fridge.

“Yep. Sometimes I wish I didn’t become a surgeon,” you sighed.

“Well, you’re really good at your job. You get to save lives,” Stefan said.

“Hm, true. So, what are you doing these days?” You asked.

“Nothing really,” Stefan said honestly.

“I bet being a vampire is nice. You don’t have to work,” you said.

“It gets boring,” Stefan shrugged.

“Are you um.. seeing anyone?” You asked. You would be lying if you said the idea of him seeing another women hadn’t crossed your mind a few times during the day. It made you a little jealous, honestly.

“No, you?” Stefan answered. “Nope. I am a single pringle,” you laughed.

“A gorgeous girl like you is single? I high doubt that,” Stefan complimented.

You looked down shyly. “Well, no one has really been right for me, you know?”

“It’s like you’re searching for your missing piece, right?” Stefan said, basically speaking your thoughts.

“Yeah, basically,” you nodded. “Well, how are you single? You’re a chick magnet?”

“Excuse me if I'm being forward, but there’s only one chick I want,” Stefan smirked a little, looking you right in the eyes.

You felt your whole face heat up, goosebumps rising on your skin. “Well, I’m sure she wants you, too. In some capacity,” you muttered, hinting at your true feelings that were deep down inside of you.

Stefan smiled widely. “Good to know.”

A comfortable silence fell over you two as you watched Stefan make your dinner. You sighed contently, enjoying the view of Stefan’s biceps flexing as he chopped up carrots. You couldn’t deny, a big part of you was still in love with him, but you didn’t know if you could let that side of you out again only to maybe get hurt again.

“How is Annie?” Stefan asked.

“She’s good. She’s in elementary school, lots of friends,” you said.

“Good. That’s good,” Stefan smiled.

“Yeah. I um, one of the things I regret the most is not reaching out to you, for Annie’s sake of course. I’m sorry. She misses you and I know you miss her,” you apologised, looking down at your wine glass.

Stefan smiled softly. “Well, if all goes well tonight, maybe I can see her and you more often.”

You looked up and smiled. “Yeah, we’d like that. So, what are you making?”

“Chicken and mushroom ravioli with tomato sauce, rolls, and salad. I also pre-made cannolis for desert,” Stefan answered.

“Oh, my favourites!” You grinned. “You know me so well.”

“That I do,” Stefan smiled.

You two talked about each other’s life in the past few years for the rest of the time. An hour later, dinner was finally ready. Stefan had seated you in a low-lit, comfortable booth in the corner as he brought out your food. He refilled your wine glass, sitting down next to you.

“This smells delicious,” you said.

“Dig in,” Stefan smiled.

You took a bite of the ravioli, moaning at how good it tastes. “Ugh, I have missed this. I don’t know how I’ve survived these past 6 years without your cooking.”

Stefan chuckled. “I’ll send you monthly food packages. How about that?”

Your eyes widened in excitement. “That would be awesome! You could also just come and visit.”

“Really?” Stefan asked, hoping you meant what you said.

“Yeah, why not,” you shrugged.

“Cool,” Stefan smiled.

You two ate and talked for a while, finishing your meal in two hours. You looked at your phone, seeing that it was already 10. You knew you needed to go home and get to bed since you worked again tomorrow.

“I should go,” you said.

Stefan nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”

He walked you back to the car, driving you home. Stefan walked you up to your door.

“I had a great time. Thank you for making me dinner,” you said.

“It was my pleasure.” You looked at him, noticing him looking like he wanted to say something. You waited a few moments before realising he wasn’t going to speak up.

“Ask Lexi if she wants to hang out and give me a call, okay?” You asked.

Stefan smiled and nodded. You put your hand on the door, turning the knob, but Stefan stopped you.

“Wait um, Y/n.”

You turned around. “Yeah?”

“I… I know we haven’t seen or talked to each other in 6 years besides today, but I was wondering if we could try again. I want to try again,” Stefan said, slipping his hand in yours. “I know we left things on bad terms, but I promise that I don’t love Elena or even like her. I cut her out of my life. I only love you. Try again with me and let me show you that.”

Butterflies swamped in your stomach from his words and touch. You looked into his eyes, seeing the desperation in them. You knew that you couldn’t push away your feelings for him. You knew in your heart that he didn’t like Elena and that it was wrong for you not to let him explain all those years ago. So, you decided to agree to work things out. You were still so in love with him after all.

“I’d love to try again,” you smiled.

Stefan smiled with you. “Great. You won’t regret it.”

“I know I won’t. Hey, do you want to come inside and spend time with Annie?” You suggested. “Yeah, I’d love to,” Stefan smiled.

1) Who is your favourite character in 2(the Vampire Diaries)?

This is difficult… a tie between Bonnie Bennet and Tyler Lockwood, they both deserved more content and better storylines

2) Who is your least favourite character in 1(Roswell New Mexico)?

Nora Truman hands down, I feel like she could have been written more consistently (and maybe held accountable for her actions) but Noah Bracken is a close tie… sorry if I’m being salty but just nah

3) What is your favourite episode of 4(Justice League Unlimited)?

“This Little Piggy” like come on, Wonder Woman gets turned into a pig and Batman has to serenade Circe to get her back? with Zatana doing a guest appearance!

4) What is your favourite season of 5(Moonlight)?

Welp, season one. The one and only, lol

5) Who is your favourite couple in 3(New Girl)?

Cece and Schmidt, they are in fact soulmates

6) Who is your favourite couple in 2(the Vampire Diaries)?

This is a hard one, cause there were a lot of good couples, but for healthy dynamics and how invested I was would be Tyler/Caroline cause they were too precious and had the exact right amount of doomed from the start angst

7) What is your favourite season of 1(Roswell New Mexico)?

Probably season one, I loved the unraveling of the ‘what happened to Rosa?’ the plot points being hit nearly every episode and everything about Echo of course

season two was great for character dynamics and three seems to soon to properly judge

8) What is your favourite episode of 5(Moonlight)?

“Sonata” it’s the final installation and shows Mick and Beth getting over themselves, but most importantly for young me, posed the question of how a vampire could be ‘cured’ and what that meant for the universe in general

9) What is your favourite episode of 2(the Vampire Diaries)?

4x08 “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street” for no reason besides Damon&Stefan, Bonnie&Elena&Caroline bonding time, and Tyler straight up telling Elena she was in love with Damon and to screw the sirebond, cause Tyler&Elena would have been such a good friendship to explore more of

10) How long had you watched 1(Roswell New Mexico)?

I’ve been watching it since it started airing, actually saw the pilot episode live and fell into this unwittingly

11) How did you become interested in 3(New Girl)?

My sister made me watch a few episodes with her and it was the first actually funny sitcom I ever saw, so I ended up watching the entire thing

12) Who is your favourite actor in 4(Justice League Unlimited)?

So voice actors… idk, Mark Hamill did a wonderful job as always

13) Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

Roswell New Mexico hands down, it’s my current obsession and I think the characters are wonderful so idk…

14) Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1(Roswell New Mexico) or 3(New Girl)?

I’ve seen all existing episodes of both, but New Girl has more so it wins out here

15) If you could be anyone from 4(Justice League Unlimited), who would you be?

umm, toss up between Black Canary and the Question, but Vic does hold a special place in my heart so who knows

16) Would a crossover between 3(New Girl) and 4(Justice League Unlimited) work?

It would be too chaotic… like animated Jess??? or live action Batman??? it just… doesn’t

17) Pair two characters in 1(Roswell New Mexico) that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple

okay, so I ship practically everyone in RNM, so unlikely is hard for me to wrap my head around… because they all seem likely. However, based off the universe and the history I’d have to say Michael/Liz just because of Max and all the context there, because they are great on paper, their personalities compliment each other nicely (even if they’d probably lock themselves into the grotto and die of starvation science-ing together)

18) Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3(New Girl) or 5(Moonlight)?

not to hate on New Girl but as a sitcom it introduces random elements randomly, looses characters all the time, and reset Coach every time he returned to the loft

so Moonlight wins (also because it got canceled before they wrote too much plot)

19) Which has the better theme music, 2(the Vampire Diaries) or 4(Justice League Unlimited)?

did TVD have theme music? so I guess JLU, but TVD’s soundtrack was like listening to my playlists 60% of the time

20) What is your favourite episode of 3(New Girl)?

Probably the very last one, it appealed to my character and possibility driven brain, with that flash-forward to them playing All-American with their kids, it was just too sweet
