that being said- watching the intricate ways one has to interact with parents and the child care system, I really do wonder how Arturo managed, like the only way to officially keep Helena from taking the girls out of school if she wanted is via court order, otherwise teachers and the like can’t actually keep a parent from their child, unless they can see/prove they’re currently under the influence, so I’m sure that poor man was constantly worried and stressed during the worst of it all, even if he did still believe the best of Helena, there is no arguing with a flipped car ship tryna spirit your kids away while fucking drunk

i hate when ppl act like the only reason to not like a "sad" ending is because you can't take it or whatever. personally as a tragedy enjoyer, i hate a poorly written ending. i hate an ending that is just kind of a bummer. i hate an ending that feels mean-spirited to the audience. i hate an ending that's redundant. i love a sad ending that is thematically consistent, poignant, and bespoke to the rest of its narrative.

When the rest of the world looks at the united states right now, we see a government who sends billions to support genocide but cannot help their own people starving on the streets.

We see a police force who won't go in to save children from school shootings, but deploy at a rapid rate to arrest peaceful protestors using their right to free speech to protest a genocide

America, you are a war mongering snake eating your own tail. You will protect and support war criminals in another country but let your own people starve and die

To the students bravely protesting now, we see your strength. We see what we saw when students protested the Vietnam War. We have faith you will prevail
