I gave Shigaraki very strong, scary-looking pokemon BUT one cute and adorable one which represents his child-self.

Also I gave Dabi Salandit, as Endeavor got its evolution Salazzle. I think they would have shared that pokemon

And for Aoyama, the magikarp represents quirkless secrets, but I loved that there was a pokemon with a mask?? Yep, that is him!

BNHA But Add Pokémon Pt. 2- Midoriya and Bakugou

Inko works at a pokémon daycare, so Izuku has been around a variety of pokémon his entire life. Inko's own pokémon is an Audino.

When Bakugou got his quirk, his parents gave him a Cyndaquil that he named Explosion King, or just King for short.

Soon, all of their peers began receiving quirks and pokémon, while Izuku was left without either.

Fearing that Izuku would get left behind, Inko brought home a young Mareep that had been abandoned as an egg. Izuku instantly fell in love and named her Allie, a play on All Might.

Not long after, Izuku was discovered to be quirkless. His peers turned on him and he became the target of bullying. Allie did her best to protect him, but against so many opponents, she was practically helpless.

One day, when Izuku was about six, a lone Riolu happened to be wandering nearby when it saw Izuku cornered and crying while the other kids hurt him.

Enraged, the Riolu stepped in and fought off the bullies' pokémon, then, with the help of Allie, drove the bullies away.

Afterward, amazed by the purity of Izuku's aura, the Riolu decided to stick around. For obvious reasons, Izuku named him Hero.

It's been an eternity since I last posted art, and this specific piece is (partially) the reason why: It took me FOREVER to finish which on top of VetTech school plus a sudden illness means it was delayed even more.

Anyway, explanations aside, here's MHA's Shie Hassaikai as Pokemon. Yes, they're all birds because I decides it'd be fun to lean into that angle due to their plague doctor masks making them all birdlike. I still tried to pick bird Pokemon that were at least somewhat consistent with their respective powers.

BNHA But Add Pokémon Pt. 1- Worldbuilding

Two of my current hyperfixations happened to collide so here ya go- I'm putting pokémon into My Hero Academia.

BNHA setting stays the same- our world + countries instead of pokémon regions

After the rise of quirks, pokémon training became less popular, with most people turning their sights on heroics. Nowadays, pokémon battles are only held between children with non-combative quirks or trainers who got good enough at it to make a living.

Most heroes have about four pokémon, though it's uncommon for more than two to be brought out at a time. Instead of battling villains, pokémon are used more as support- they help keep bystanders safe, reduce property damage, and/or take on the villain's pokémon while the hero focuses on the main threat.

Typically, a hero will have one pokémon serve as the "face" of their team. This will be their strongest and most used pokémon.

It's common for children to get their first pokémon after their quirk develops. Usually, parents will pick out a pokémon with similar/complementary abilities to their child's quirk.

Of course, this doesn't help matters of quirk stereotyping or discrimination. Children with flashy quirks are given flashy pokémon and children with "villainous" quirks are given "villainous" pokémon. Not to mention pokémon types- someone may lean more towards psychic types, but because their quirk is water-based, they are pressured and expected to only own water-type pokémon.

That's all for basic worldbuilding; next time I'll go into more detail about specific characters and their pokémon.
