apparently it's the 15th anniversary of zoro's sacrifice in thriller bark (not sure if manga or anime though) so yknow. time for more zolu of course

one of the many things about zoro and luffy is that despite how their approach to certain situations might differ at times, they're still pretty similar at their core, sometimes to a comical degree (see: their definition of what a hero is back in fish man island arc). and this understanding of how the other works is what leads to moments like jaya,

this little one in water 7/enies lobby,

and follows consistently all the way to wano arc.

and I was thinking the other day about how their childhoods too kinda mirror or parallel each other's in a way that emphasizes (to me, at least) how special zoro's particular protectiveness toward luffy is, and why luffy relying on zoro that way is just as special.

the specifics of their childhood stories are different but both luffy and zoro have a turning point of sorts that's marked with the grief and loss of sabo and kuina, respectively, which leads them to say these:

it's important to note zoro and luffy had dreams/aspirations before this, to become the greatest swordsman and luffy's secret thing that we've yet to learn about (that ace, sabo and the crew now know). however, losing kuina and sabo is what prompts them to, on top of that, strive to become stronger for other people's sake. for zoro, it's his way to honor his friend and fulfill their shared dream. for luffy, it's to avoid losing the people he loves.

throughout the story, zoro and luffy end up expressing similar frustration and sentiments due to this. there's zoro innerly chiding himself for being too weak as he trains in the aftermath of arcs like little garden, alabasta and thriller bark, where the crew get stuck in situations in which zoro isn't able to help as he wishes he could (the wax cake, the sea prism stone cell, kuma). there's luffy swearing he won't lose a single member of his crew even if it kills him (the davy back fight) and reproaching himself for not being able to save any of the straw hats in sabaody, with the worst of it right after losing ace in marineford.

(and man do I have thoughts about bon turning into zoro, out of all the straw hats, back in impel down.)

anyway. as to why all of this is meaningful - when zoro agrees to join luffy, he mentions that his goal to become the greatest swordsman is all he has. yet as the straw hats go from journey to journey, and with a certain emphasis in luffy, you can see how zoro's view slowly shifts. he's now driving himself to become strong to protect them as well, to the point he's willing to set aside his ambition and offer his own head in exchange for luffy's, if it means he can ensure luffy's life and safety. that's huge. as mihawk inwardly points out, zoro has something, someone he values even more than his ambitions and pride. and it's through his adventures with luffy and the crew that he becomes closer to achieving that initial dream of his.

whenever people wonder why zoro's as loyal as he is to luffy, aside from all the reasons why luffy as a character has earned that loyalty through his actions, I also remember that one line koushiro said to zoro in a flashback: "the pinnacle of swordsmanship is the power to protect what one wishes to protect and cut what one wishes to cut. a blade that injures all that it touches isn't really a sword." while sure, it works in the context of later power ups like haki, imo it perfectly captures zoro's character growth too and what luffy's given him. the current zoro isn't lost or directionless with only one purpose in mind or to live for, bounty hunting as a means to survive. he has a home to return to, people to cherish, to protect and keep getting stronger for, people who nurture him in turn. kuina's death is something zoro couldn't have prevented, and losing people in accidents like those is something that could happen again, but still within the limits of what's preventable - zoro can protect his friends now.

as for luffy... zoro kinda steals the spotlight when it comes to grand gestures of loyalty/devotion and being the MC of the story means luffy fights for different people (both crew and non crew), carrying their wishes and hopes as if they were his own. he gets help and learns from others as well and all members of the crew are important for luffy to achieve his dream one way or the other, but the way he relies on zoro specifically is so subtly meaningful to me. we don't get as much insight on luffy's inner thoughts, still, we do have context.

for someone like luffy, who is at his innermost genuinely terrified of being alone and losing the people he loves, the fact that he trusts zoro to protect and keep everyone safe (even luffy himself) is so good. as shown above, luffy vowed to become strong in the first place to ensure he'd never go through loss like sabo's again and this vow is all the more renewed after ace's death. luffy has to be strong for everyone but... the fact that he can trust zoro to follow his lead even when others might not understand his reasons to do x or y, that he's so unwavering in his faith that zoro will protect the others when luffy can't, entrusting the people he cares about to zoro, whom luffy also cherishes - it's all pretty special. everyone in the crew has their strengths and zoro may not be the only fighter, but all of them, including sanji, fall under his protection whenever it's needed.

it's not only about raw strength though. zoro's also there to set luffy straight and remind him of what's important when the circumstances arise, like in water 7 or punk hazard. and even when they don't necessarily agree, like wrt vivi's situation after the reverie in marijoa, luffy knows when zoro's right and acquiesces (albeit grumbling a little) because, once again, he's also aware that zoro wouldn't just risk everyone's safety. luffy listens to him. and their reunion in wano too, luffy's sheer happiness at the sight of him again, is a very clear example of how much luffy adores zoro even beyond all that.

although luffy isn't aware of what happened in thriller bark (that we know of), zoro's actions are proof of why luffy trusts, has faith in, and relies on zoro as much as he does and why it's so important for luffy to have him by his side, considering how afraid he is of being unable to keep his loved ones safe. this is more on a speculative note, but I can imagine how comforting that must be for luffy - to not shoulder that on his own.

wanted to participate in @storybookhawke 's DA met gala themed thing so here's a quick merrill piece (i kinda forgot until the reblog reminder went around so this was a pretty quick sketchy painting :3). haven't done DA art in ages so this was fun in the story ( the met gala theme is based on a j.g ballard short story called "the garden of time", which you can read here if you want!) the characters are trying to push off their inevitable downfall by picking the flowers that briefly stop time. the more flowers they pick, the sparser and less beautiful their garden looks- until eventually doom reaches them as there are no more flowers. i thought it did sort of fit with merrill's character arc a lot of her character arc is partially in her trying to balance the use of blood magic with her personal magic and how she's always tempted by demons (and how even success is tainted and doomed). She's always pulled by two sides- a more innocent, noble side that just wants to preserve her people's heritage and the other where she's willing to make deals without fully understanding the consequences. Every thing she does in the story line kind of pushes her closer towards the inevitable conflict (she can't push off the demon forever/will run out of time)

ALSO i really liked the flower theme and wanted to draw merrill in a pretty yet kinda sexy dress and it fits with her skill tree aesthetic (which is all about plant growth and nature magic). prob not the most avant garde thing but w/e. I know she's usually more associated with daisies but I liked the drama of roses and then contrasted it with the floatier lighter skirt on the other side (in the story the flowers are crystalline so this was a bit of a nod) here's the 15 sec time lapse if anyone's been interested

anyway this was really fun and i might do more but i def won't finish them in time (obvs). it was nice to do an au fashiony design again too, i've missed it

So you can read Katara's mind now?

Sorry about the big blue dot, but I had to fit all of this in one screen.

Let's start off with the fact that this person completely disregards the entire character arc of both Zuko and Katara to put this point across.

From what it looks like, Katara is actually okay with being in the Fire Nation. Otherwise, she wouldn't be very comfortable at the BEACH HOUSE at Ember Island, where OZAI laid his head, too. But yeah, let's just glance over that. She even goes to the same theater where the Royal Family frequented when Zuko was a small child and had no issues with it up until the last act of the play. I mean, she had problems with her portrayal, but that was the play. Not the place. She even has fun in the Fire Nation.

Why? Because the Fire Nation is not all bad people. There are a lot of innocent people in the Fire Nation. That's like condemning all Japanese for the bombing of Pearl Harbor... oh wait... that happened. Yeah, Japanese Americans were treated like traitors after Pearl Harbor, even after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some were forced to live in 10x10 horse stalls. But I digress. You realize what I'm getting at here don't you?

Probably not because you are naive.

I agree that Fire Lady is an irrelevant title. She wouldn't take it anyway, but instead, because she is very good in politics and loves her culture, she'd likely take on a more political role. Ambassador Katara is overused. But I do know that she is a guiding voice for Zuko (this is in the show btw) so maybe his right-hand advisor who gets shit done could work. Remember, they work incredibly well as a team. Plus he's the damn Fire Lord. He'd find a position for her that she could do some good. (I know this is kinda my headcanon, but it's based on information gathered from various source material from the franchise) hell, even a health coordinator would be in the cards.

Anyway, it seems you don't really understand her arc given that she is very good at politics post-war and has the capacity to FORGIVE Zuko and put all of that behind her. I mean... the way you guys make it sound is that she hates everybody. And that isn't true.

Pairing: Trafalgar Law x fem!reader

Summary: On a quest to find what you've been looking for, you acquire the help of the Straw Hat pirates, who've agreed to let you temporarily join them. There are however many challenges that come along with your temporary recruitment - an alliance with a certain Trafalgar Law being one of them.

A/N: It's backstory time! This chapter doesn't have much of Law in it except towards the end. Also, I kinda added my own bits to Corazon and Sengoku's characters (just how I think they would be with kids in general). But anyway, I hope you like it!

(Y/N), age 5

Your parents had brought you to the little secluded cove on the island - a favourite spot of yours. You could bask in the sun, dip your toes in the water, and hunt for rare shells and artifacts that would come to shore. Although you were surprised; they rarely brought you here - deeming it fit only for special occasions, and today was no special occasion. Your parents were also not their usual selves - sitting on the beach, wrapped in each other's arms as they watched over you with small smiles.

A few hours passed - you shared a meal with your parents and then went back to looking around for rare objects. As you waddled around in the clear ocean water, your gaze focused on the sand underneath you, a faint green light that the water reflected caught your eye. You looked above you, and noticed the sky shine with an almost similar shade of green.

"(Y/N) come here," your mother calling out to you, tore your attention away from the sky and you ran to where your parents stood by a little rowboat. They pulled you into a gently hug before your father held you by the shoulder. He gave you a stern look, although you failed to notice the sad smile behind it. All of this was rather strange.

"(Y/N), we know this is a lot to ask, but we need you to sail to the next island by yourself," your father spoke with a sense of urgency, and you looked at him the same way any five year old would look at their parent after hearing what they had said.

"Some thing is coming to our island, and it can't see you here."

"But what about you?" you asked, as they gently nudged you into the boat. Your parents hesitated at your words, exchanging pained looks before they looked back at you.

"We'll meet you there," your mother assured, although you were not convinced.

"You promise?"

"Promises falter when circumstances shift," your father repeated the phrase you had heard far too many times, and you frown at him, further unconvinced.

"We'll always be with you (Y/N)," he says in one final attempt to ease your concerns, "Now go."

They each press their lips against your forehead in a light kiss, and push the boat away before you can further protest.

"Quickly (Y/N)."

Your mother's words settle in you, giving you a faint boost to do as you're told. The memory of your father taking you fishing for the first time replays in your mind. You had sat on his lap, as he gently pushed the oars, your mother who sat opposite you watching with a blissful smile. Recalling his instructions on how to move the oars, you mimic his actions, giving all your attention to the task of rowing to the next island. You only look away from what you're doing when you notice a flashing red light from the corner of your eye.

The sky is dark now, a sound similar to the clapping of thunder the only thing you can here. The waves around you are violent, your boat ready to capsize at any moment. But all you see is the explosion in front of you - your home destroyed in the blink of an eye.

A month later, on an neighbouring island

With your back pressed against the stone wall of an alleyway, you eyed the scraps of food lying on a piece of paper that served as a makeshift plate - never to be touched.

Almost a month ago a couple of kids playing along the beach had found you lying on the shore. They immediately called the adults of the village, who carried you to one of their homes and tended to your wounds. When you awoke they explained to you where you were and you broke down in tears as you recalled the events that had transpired.

Being a village almost on the brink of poverty, no one could afford to take you in. But they took pity on the child who had mysteriously appeared on the shores of their town, and would offer you whatever scraps of food they had left. Although, most of the time you refused to eat anything, hence why these scraps of food were left to rot.

"Hey kid, mind if I have a bite?"

Startled, you look up from your hunched position against the alley wall. The dim light filtering through the alley, accentuated the hollows beneath your eyes and the dirt smeared on your cheek. You blinked, trying to get a clearer image of the tall figure that loomed over you.

He resonated a sense of authority, yet there was an air of gentleness when he looked at you with concern. He offered you a warm smile and you wordlessly pushed the paper towards him.

"What's a child doing all alone in a dark alley at this time?" he asked, as he seated himself beside you, and you glared in response. The expression startled him and he choked on the stale piece of bread, but then let out a loud laugh after managing to swallow. You stared in shock at the absurd antics of the grown man as he calmed himself down and eyed you expectantly, still waiting for a response.

"My parents...," you tried to say, but couldn't get any other words out as a lump formed in your throat. Seconds later you burst into tears. The man's expression softened, as if just those words were enough for him to understand. He gently stroked your head, and you found comfort in the gesture.

"What's your name?"

"(Y/N)," you squeaked out.

"Well (Y/N), I'm Corazon. I'm going to take you to Marine headquarters. We can look after you there," he said, and you shook your head vigorously in protest.

"No! My parents said they would come for me!" you yelled in response, despite knowing there was no truth to those words.

With your elbow you shoved him in the groin, and he groaned at the sudden impact. You stood up and attempted to run away from him, but your lack of strength weighed you down and you slipped into unconsciousness as your body hit the ground.

When you awoke, you found yourself tucked into a comfy bed. The feeling of clean sheets and a soft mattress made you let out a pleased sigh as you further curled up in bed. But someone let out a soft chuckle and you sat up startled by the noise.

On the opposite end of the room sat the man from earlier, Corazon, sipping at a piping hot cup of tea which led him to nearly spill all over himself. But he quickly set down his cup and offered you a warm smile.

"Easy there, little one," he said softly, his voice carrying a soothing tone. "You gave me quite the scare when you collapsed in the alley."

You blinked, trying to gather your thoughts as you took in your surroundings. The room was simple and comforting, with sunlight streaming in through a small circular window, casting a warm glow over everything.

"Where...Where am I?" you asked, your voice still shaky from your recent outburst and subsequent collapse.

"We're on a Marine ship that will soon set sail for Marineford." Corazon replied, his voice gentle.

"No! I don't want to go! My parents are coming for me!" You jumped out of bed immediately. But once again your frail body failed you, and you collapsed to the floor, tears once more brimming your eyes.

Corazon frowned as he got up to help you, unsure of what to say. He had asked around about you, and the villagers had explained your story to him. They had even told him what you had said about your parents and the island you came from. And although some parts of it seemed out of place, it wasn't hard for him to come to the conclusion that your parents were not coming for you.

He picked you up in his arms, and for a moment you let your guard down, allowing him to whisper soft words of comfort as you leant into his embrace. "Everything will be alright (Y/N). I'll take care of you, I promise." His words snapped you out of your moment of vulnerability and you fidgeted in his grasp. With another swift kick to his stomach, he dropped you and buckled over, but was quick to recover and step in front of the door, blocking your way.

"Let me go! My parents are coming for me!" you cried again through tears, snot trickling down your nose as you sucked in a breath.

"I know you're upset, but please understand that I'm only here to help."

"Let me go or.....or...or I'll eat your treasure!" you challenged, grabbing at the small treasure chest that laid on the table he was previously sat at.

"You can't eat treasure," he said with a chuckle, having seemed to have forgotten what was hidden inside this particular treasure chest.

"I can eat this treasure!" you stated without hesitation as you pulled out the contents of the box, and he visibly gulped at the sight of the red and green fruit.

"You wouldn't...it's just some disgusting fruit." He looked from the fruit to you, unsure of your next move. "it's not even worth that much." He tried to feign uninterest in the object.

You shoved the whole thing into your mouth, your cheeks bulging out because of the fruit that now sat within. If it hadn't been for the dread that settled in him, Corazon would have found the sight cute. Instead, his mouth fell ajar and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

As the disgusting taste of the unique fruit settled in your mouth, your gag reflexes kicked in, but you forced yourself to swallow. Despite the need to throw up, you stood proud, happy with the reaction you had got out of the man.

"Now you have to let me go!"

Corazon's eyes further widened in shock, realizing the gravity of the situation. He took a step back, his mind racing with the implications of what had just happened. "That fruit...it's a devil fruit."

Your triumphant expression faltered as his words sank in, and a sense of unease crept over you. "What do you mean? What's a devil fruit?"

"It's...complicated," Corazon began, struggling to find the right words to explain. "But now that you've eaten it, you won't be able to swim, and you'll gain a certain ability."

Your heart sank as you processed his explanation, the weight of your impulsive decision settling upon you. "I didn't...I didn't know."

Corazon sighed, his expression softening with empathy. "I know, but you don't have to worry about it. I'll do everything I can to help you. If you'll let me."

His heart ached as he watched the fear and desperation in your eyes. Despite your attempts to push him away, he couldn't ignore your vulnerable state, it reminded him too much of his younger self. As you stood there, trembling and on the verge of tears, he felt a deep sense of responsibility wash over him.

"I won't let anything happen to you," he stated firmly, his voice filled with determination. "I promise, I'll keep you safe."

Your gaze flickered with uncertainty. It was clear that you were scared and unsure, but beneath it all, there was a longing for someone to trust, someone to protect you. Corazon knelt down in front of you, his expression gentle yet resolute. "I may not be able to undo what's been done, but I can make sure you're taken care of. You're not alone anymore, (Y/N)."

Tears welled up in your eyes once more, but this time they were tears of relief. With a shaky breath, you nodded, silently accepting his offer of protection.

As he gathered you into his arms, you finally allowed yourself to let go of the fear and uncertainty that had gripped you since your world had been turned upside down. In Corazon's embrace, you found solace, knowing that you had found someone who would give you the love and protection that had been taken away from you.

"Cora-san~," you sang as you bounded down the staircase, Sengoku walking steadily behind you. On hearing his name, Corazon's smile widened, kneeling down with arms wide open as you ran into his embrace.

"Hey there, little one," Corazon chuckled, lifting you up in a tight hug before setting you down gently, Sengoku watching the exchange with a soft smile.

"How was your mission?" you asked excitedly, although your question was more of a way to get him to show the items that he usually brought back for you from his countless missions.

"(Y/N), he just got back. You should let him rest. Besides, it's also past your bedtime," Sengoku said in a stern but gently way, and you frowned blatantly.

"No, no, I'm fine. Let's go back upstairs and I'll tell you about it while you get ready for bed, okay? I have lots to tell you," Corazon said, giving you a toothy grin that immediately changed your mood. However, you missed the serious look he gave Sengoku.

For the past three years you had been staying in Marineford, in a small house that Corazon had got for the two of you. Though it was mainly a place to keep you away from the watchful eyes of the rest of the Marines and anyone else who would try to harm you, it also served as a place to help you learn how to use your powers. Except for Sengoku who had figured out that you had eaten the devil fruit Corazon found, everyone else was still under the impression that the fruit had been lost at sea, and you were just some little girl who Corazon had found. And just like how Sengoku had taken him in, he was doing the same for you.

Sengoku nodded silently, understanding the unspoken message from Corazon. As you skipped ahead towards the bedroom, Corazon followed, ruffling your hair affectionately as you got into bed and he settled into the seat reserved just for him.

From the door frame, Sengoku watched as Corazon sat by your bedside, recounting his mission. As he told you about his adventures, Sengoku couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth, seeing the bond between you and Corazon. Despite the dangers of the world, and the dangers he himself faced, Corazon had managed to create a safe haven for you.

"So there I was, minding my own business, and he attacked me!"

You and Sengoku looked at Corazon dumbfounded, mouths agape as you struggled to comprehend why he was laughing over the situation.

"That little troublemaker!" Corazon exclaimed, wiping a tear from his eye.

Sengoku shook his head in disbelief, while you were still shocked by the sheer audacity of the boy named Law.

"Cora-san why are you laughing? He attacked you! I don't like this Law one bit. In fact when I meet him, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind," you said with a pout. You missed the way Corazon's smile faltered for a second, before he gently patted your head as a way to comfort you.

"It's all in the past now. Besides, if I recall correctly, you hit me a couple of times as well when we first met," Corazon said, his eyes twinkling with amusement, and you blushed with embarrassment.

"But...but this is different."

"It is. But we can never fully understand why people do certain things unless we know their full story. He may have had his motives," he tried to reason, though you were still slightly unconvinced, and Corazon could tell, but he said nothing else regarding the matter.

"Anyway (Y/N), it's time you went to bed," he said as he tucked you in snuggly, and planted a kiss on your forehead. That was enough to make you sleepy, and your eyes slowly fell shut as you mumbled a 'goodnight'. There was a soft chatter between the two men as they left your room and stood outside, their voices a lot more serious now. You could faintly hear mentions of the boy Law and a few other people, but that was all. Shortly after, you drifted off into a deep slumber, and when you woke up, Corazon had already left for his next mission.

You rushed down the stairs as soon as you heard the front door open.

"Is it true?"

"(Y/N), I heard you snuck into the restricted library again," Sengoku said, his voice a mix of sternness and concern, as he entered the house. "How many times do I have to tell you that you could get kicked out of the Marines for something like that?"

Ignoring his scolding, you pressed on, your eyes not hiding the anger that simmered beneath the surface, "Forget about that. Is it true?"

Sengoku let out a heavy sigh, his eyes straying away from yours as he made his way further into the house, "Is what true?"

"You made Doflamingo a warlord?" you demanded, your words filled with disbelief and outrage.

Sengoku froze in his spot, gritting his teeth at the reminder of what had transpired during yesterday's meeting. He let out another sigh and looked at you with a calm expression, "It's true. The government made the decision yesterday."

You struggled to process the implications of his revelation, and were left with a mixture of anger and betrayal.

"And you didn't stop them?"

Sengoku's gaze instantly softened, understanding the turmoil that plagued you, he felt it too. "I can't go against the decisions of the World Government, (Y/N)," he explained. He sounded tired, and you knew the events of the past day had been bothering him as well. "As much as I may disagree with some of their choices, my duty as Fleet Admiral requires me to uphold their authority."

You clenched your fists, your frustration evident. "Even if it means empowering someone like Doflamingo?"

"The Government does what they believe will protect the world, and I'm not going to be the one to question them," he stated firmly, hoping you would finally drop the subject.

"If they believe giving a pirate who killed a Marine agent the freedom to do whatever he wants will protect the world, then I'd gladly be kicked out of the Navy."

With that final declaration, you turned on your heel and stormed off to your room, slamming the door shut. Sengoku had initially come knocking at your door, trying to get you to talk to him, but finally decided to give you your space.

Alone in your room, the feeling of betrayal settled over you once more. The revelation that Doflamingo, the man responsible for Corazon's death, had been given the power to do as he pleased, felt like a dagger to your heart. Memories of Corazon flooded your mind, his laughter echoing in your ears when he told you a stupid joke, his warm embrace as he comforted you. Tears threatened to fall as you recalled the days you had spent with him right to the day when you had lost him. It had taken you months to cope with the reality of his absence, but some how you had managed to pull through. Now, however, those same feelings were coming back, and you found yourself in a dark place. How could the world be so cruel to take away someone like him? Anger continued to boil within you, directed not only at Doflamingo but at the entire system that had taken away the one person you truly cared for.

In the darkness of your room, you made a decision. Unable to bear the grief any longer, you decided to leave it all behind. Marineford, with its rigid rules and compromised values, did not provide you with the comfort it once did.

A few days later, in the darkness of the night, you slipped away, your footsteps silently padding against the stone path as you made your way to the harbour. The moonlight guided you to the ship, and with one final glance at the place you once called home, you set sail on your new adventure.

"I made my way to Sabaody after that, but I couldn't stay for long because of the number of Marines there. So I ventured towards Fishman Island, and that's when it happened," you took a deep breath, as you took a break from recounting all those distant memories and remembered one that was still fresh in your mind, and Law listened intently, concern etched on his features, "I was attacked by the New Fish-Man Pirates. I tried to resist, but there were too many of them, and I couldn't use my powers on all of them at once. At some point I must have fainted because when I woke up, I was locked up in a room," your breath hitched in your throat as you recalled what had transpired after.

"It was a nightmare," you confessed, your voice heavy with the weight of the memories. "They discovered how my powers worked and forced me to torture the humans who wouldn't comply. It was either that or face death."

Law's eyes darkened at your words, his jaw clenching as anger swelled within him. But he tried to not show it for your sake, instead showing sympathy as he hesitantly took your hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"And you never tried to escape?" he asked, his voice soft as if he was unsure of whether to ask.

"I did," you admitted, bitterness evident in your tone. "But they caught me. They tortured me after that until I couldn't bear it any longer. I caved and promised to help them in hunting down more humans. I did some horrible things after that."

"You did what you had to to survive," Law stated, his voice laced with sympathy.

"But it was at the price of others suffering far worse," you replied remorsefully, still haunted by your past actions.

"They even sent me after Luffy and the rest of them when they arrived in Fishman Island," you confessed, your voice tinged with shame.

"What made you change your mind to help them instead?" Law pressed gently.

"Well, for starters, they were too strong," you admitted with a light chuckle at the memory of how the Straw Hats had noticed your presence almost immediately and had fought back. You had wondered at that moment whether you had purposefully made yourself known.

"They managed to knock me out, and when I woke up, I was beyond scared. Then Luffy asked me why I attacked them," you paused as you recalled being tied to the tree on the Thousand Sunny as your eyes welled up at the brink of a confession, "I explained everything to them. After that, he promised he would help me. They all did."

"That's why I'll always feel indebted to them," you concluded with a small smile as your heart swelled with gratitude for the Straw Hats. "When I was on the verge of regret, ready to give up, they helped me escape."

As you finished speaking, Law gave your hand another gentle squeeze. "I can't imagine what you've been through," he said softly, his voice a soothing presence in the dimly lit room. "But you're safe now. And...and if it's any consolation, I won't let something like that happen to you again."

Without another word, he shifted closer, and you leant into his touch, finding comfort in the warmth of his side. Much like Corazon, he offered a sense of solace amidst the memories of your past. "Thank you, Law," you whispered, grateful for his presence as you relished in the peacefulness of the moment.

You both stayed like that for a while, your backs pressed against the cold wall of the submarine. A comfortable silence fell between the two of you, the only sound your steady breaths and the soft hum of the ship's engines. Eventually, the exhaustion from the events of the night caught up with both of you, and your head fell to rest on Law's shoulder. Then, guided by the steady rhythm of his breathing, you let yourself be pulled further into unconsciousness, as unbeknownst to either of you, Law's arm instinctively wrapped around you, drawing you closer as you both drifted off to sleep.

You know, outside of all the obvious reasons why Simon’s Bad Crown Plan was Obviously Bad - there is one extra reason the series itself didn’t directly acknowledge. That is, while wearing the Magic Crown can grant any ol’ schmuck ice powers

It generally doesn’t seem to give them the Full Ice Wizard Transformation Treatment, with all the Madness and Sadness that comes with it

Unless the previous Wielder is dead.

So presumably, what Simon was trying to find wasn’t just any Magic Crown, it was a Magic Crown who wasn’t attuned to any other wearer and probably because the previous wearer is dead. But in the show it just never directly came up since the non-destroyed Crowns we’ve actually encountered were:

The Extinctworld Magic Crown, over whom the majority of the Drama actively revolves around - whose wielder was indeed long dead before Simon and Friends even got there.

The Vampireworld Magic Crown, where killing the wielder of the Crown was already kinda taken as granted as part of the plan for getting it.

And even when that plan got derailed and our trio was considering taking the Magic Crown and bailing - it was also explicitly stated that just knocking the thing off his head could’ve dispelled the clouds blotting out the sun and killed him anyways.

Then there’s the Winterworld Magic Crown, where despite Cake’s… eagerness

Simon and Fionna never make any attempts to get the Crown from the Winter King, but also this guy does also pretty much immediately says he's willing to help them in ways that don't involve taking his specific Crown.

And at the same time it is notable that as soon as he does die

Simon is pretty quick to try to loot his ‘corpse’.

So, really from the immediacy of his actions here, I feel like he is aware that needs a Magic Crown not immediately bound to a living person.

With the possibility of infinite crowns in infinite circumstances, I’m going to assume Simon’s plan was, if he found a Crown bound to someone’s below Vampire King’s level of ‘apocalyptic supervillain slowly killing the whole planet’ level of awfulness and also without Winter King's capacity and (supposed?) willingness to help - they’d just hope on to the next universe and try again.

And obviously I understand that, narratively speaking, for the sake of Simon’s character arc - Crown Quest kinda had to remain focused on Simon’s own self-sacrifice and the price he felt he had to pay for the sake of Fionnaworld. But… I do wonder, with how desperate the situation got in Episodes 7 and 8…and with Simon previously already seeing death as preferable to the curse of the Magic Crown…

... What would have happened if it seemed like the last chance to save Fionnaworld was a Crown bound to a living Ice King? Would Simon even consider upping the number of sacrifices needed to keep Fionnaworld eternal from one to two? Especially if he can rationalize it as the ‘Mercy Killing’ he never got? Or would the second his Purpose involve any sort of destruction that isn’t purely self-destruction is the point that this plan is off the hook?

hello. I've a rather stupid question. I've only read the books once, as a kid, and I don't understand why people hate calpyso x leo. whys it so bad? why does everyone seems to hate it on here?

First of all, this is my first ever ask, I've made it mother :D Secondly, I'd gladly explain! Though please note that it really has been a good while since I've read the books too, so my memory is kinda foggy :] Warnings for: Slight mentions (but not too much) of rape, pedophilia and mental illness (oh boy this is a tough one)

So, I have made a post abt this before, but it was written in a fit of rage so not my proudest moment (but my most popular post, oops). Anyways, I feel that the hate towards Calypso x Leo is because of a few reasons. 1. It simply didn't get enough development to feel worth it imo. Similar to Jason x Piper, I felt like there wasn't enough there to warrant a canon ship. There is also the fact that personally, I thought that their dynamic was more of a familial or that of siblings, which made me uncomfortable. I would've much rather have them be friends. 2. The uncomfortable age gap. It feels very weird because while yes, Calypso was depicted as a teenager, she is thousands upon thousands of years old. The fact that she fell in love with a literal child is incredibly weird. It was weird enough with Percy, but at least they didn't end up dating. With Leo though, she did end up dating him and the age gap feels very odd. Its even weirder knowing she had a relationship with Odysseus, who by that point was a pretty old dude so she was probably very mature and an adult (though she doesn't act like it). 3. Calypso is kinda a rapist. In the Odyssey myth, she forces Odysseus (a married man) to sleep with her. I'm sorry, but I can't support any relationship involving a rapist unless its rapist x prison cell. It makes me uncomfortable because she could very well take advantage of Leo, a mentally ill teenager with self-esteem issues. 4. Her toxic treatment of Leo. Calypso was very pissed when Leo arrived on her island, rightfully so after what she had gone through, but even then her treatment of his was outright cruel, especially compared to that of Percy and Odysseus. She made him sleep outside, exposing him to the elements after he got flung through the air and ended up on her island, which must've caused some damage. Then after they started dating, I still felt uncomfortable reading about the two, because their dynamic just didn't work, and I don't recall her apologizing to him for her treatment of him. 5. Leo's arc was thrown away. I think the worst of all, is how this impacted Leo's character. He should've had an arc where he learnt to love himself, but because of Calypso he didn't. I think the moral was supposed to be: 'even if you're mentally ill or have problems, you still deserve love!' but it came over more as: 'ignore your issues and get all your love from someone else.' Isn't it more important for kids to learn about self-love? And as an extra: what could've been. I think that Leo shouldn't have gone back for Calypso, that that ship shouldn't have happened. I prefer him going back to Echo and them learning about self-love together as buddies (and maybe evolving into more than that). Echo was stuck in an abusive relationship with the Narcissist, so I think it would a good arc for them both. I also think that if you really wanted a romance, Jason x Leo would've been much better. We know that Rick can write good gay romances, we know that Piper turns out to be a lesbian, so why not make Jason and Leo gay? I think it would add much more to the tragedy of Jason's death, but that's for another post (and this one is getting too long already oops). In conclusion, I think Caleo is bad for many reasons, but especially because it didn't have enough time to develop and the dynamic was simply too creepy for me to get invested in. Sorry for the super long post- Have a lovely day :D

Changing the characters featured in each special without doing any research (it’s been like 2 weeks since I’ve proper watched eah).

True hearts day - chefs kiss it’s perfect

Thronecoming - I like the characters with their side plots but specifically for those going into the storybook of legends I would change blondie and cedar. Blondie would be at the game, it makes no sense why she was there (unless she followed them but she would have to be covering the game anyways so??) and cedar because I feel like they either should have focused more on her being able to lie or just cut her. I would replace them with 1 kitty because she could cover both the plot points that blondie n cedar bring (aka finding out where to go and how to get in) because I think definitely smth could be worked out with her going into the in between. And then I’m in between Ginger and Holly for the 8th girl. I feel like Ginger just because she’s important for spring unsprung so it would make sense to meet her earlier, but also then the focus would be less on raven + briars horrible destinies and on gingers. And I think that Hollys destiny makes a lot of sense for a quick little montage but then that brings the question on if it should be poppy instead or if the sbol they go into is a fake or not.

Spring unsprung - for the girls who get outfits from Lizzie I’m not going to switch them for Maddie and Kitty even tho it would make sense for Lizzie to make the outfits for them (but then again I’m pretty sure the og queen of hearts doesn’t even know who the Cheshire Cat + Mad Hatter r) so the only one I’ll switch is Holly. Just because I didn’t commit to her for the thronecoming arc and so I feel like she doesn’t really need to be there. I would switch her for Farrah (ik she didn’t exist yet but do I look like I give a fuck?) because in the diaries her cedar and Lizzie design together. And briar and cerise can stay because they’re featured and they are like main characters. The others in this special make sense tbh

Way Too Wonderland - ok yeah it makes sense for the 6 girls. The 3 wonderlandians who left pre curse that makes sense. Briar who is literally the catalyst for all these events. And the two main characters. If I could add someone I’d add cerise because her parents got married in wonderland, which could create an interesting plotline, and after spring unsprung her character was kinda discarded which is too bad. The others (the charmings + bunny and Alistair can stay too). Mm honestly I’d remove faybelle. It makes sense for her to be there just to establish her character before dragon games + epic winter but she wasn’t needed. Honestly could switch cerise with her.

Dragon Games - now here’s where I start to actually dislike the line up not just in a nitpicky way. Okay so off the top of my head the ones who compete in the dragons games are Melody, Lizzie, Poppy, Darling, Holly, Apple, Ashlynn, Maddie and Raven. I’m sorry what?! No briar?! Or cerise?! Immediately cutting Lizzie and Melody for those two. And I feel like Ashlynn could be replaced by Jillian, Cupid, Ramona or Nina. And then for those who go to the forest originally are Raven, Darling, Maddie, Ashlynn, Poppy, and Holly. Definitely adding Briar because that just makes this so much more interesting / briar’s rebel arc could have happened!! I’d either just add her to the existing group or if cut the O’Hair twins and also add cerise because cerise is close friends with raven and is seen with darling lots.

Epic Winter - so if you know me yk were cutting rosabella. I’m very tempted to just add Lizzie but we will resist the temptation. I’ll definitely be changing this one a lot. So the crew is Briar, Faybelle, Ashlynn, Blondie, Rosabella, Daring and Crystal. Cutting Blondie & Daring and adding Poppy and Duchess. Okay that might not look like a big change but im changing who gets which arc. Those with flowers are now Briar, Rosa, Poppy and Crystal. Ashlynn is just there because she’s friends with Crystal not because of the flower. Faybelle is there for the same reason. Rosabella is just there because of her flower, of course she becomes friends and stuff but the whole ‘I can fix him’ thing is gone. Instead this is poppy and duchess. Whether or not it’s seen as a ship or friendship Duchess is the one who needs redemption not Daring. Also I just found the blondie wanting a real story arc to be stupid

Forest Fest - I forgot this is considered a special? Is it considered a special? Anyways I think it’s fine I found it annoying how raven and dex had to be the ones to save the girls it could literally be anyone else. I found Poppy kinda a random choice for blondie to take, like just for the hair?? Maybe Ginger instead because she also has a show and they could be going together.

Thoughts on Echo as amputee/disability representation

First and foremost, I am not disabled or an amputee and I don’t claim to speak for those communities. What little I do know mostly comes from this youtube channel (@oakwyrm), this post, and other research I’ve done for my writing (and like one amputee I kinda knew in passing). By all means correct me and add to the conversation, I just have some thoughts I want to share because I haven’t really seen this discussed anywhere

Overview

So Echo is interesting. He is a triple amputee which is pretty rare in media. His disabilities come from extremely traumatic circumstances: injured in a near-death experience, imprisoned and dehumanized as an experiment with no autonomy over what happened to his body.

There are a few moments in the shows where Echo is treated… questionably. Like this bit where Rex uses him as an example of the Separatists' evils to convince the locals to fight back:

To be fair, yeah Echo’s treatment does prove that the Techno Union is not neutral like they claim. The modifications that everyone is gasping in horror at here obviously weren’t made with comfort and accessibility in mind, nor with Echo’s consent. But you still just want to be sure that “They took away his freedom, his humanity, they tried to turn him into a machine” is about using him as a living computer, not the fact that he is missing limbs.

The Batch is also pretty insensitive toward him and his trauma imo, which is weird considering they've supposedly also faced discrimination for their mutations

Disabled people do have to deal with stuff like this in this day and age so I guess it can speak to those experiences. I think especially him being mistaken as a droid (and Hunter going along with it (bruh)) might resonate with some people.

Aside from that stuff, Echo isn't really treated any differently as a character/person which is really good (as low of a bar as that is).

We get this moment in CW where Echo contemplates that yeah things are gonna be different now

While also (imo at least) showing that he is still the same person regardless, evidenced by the fact that he just echoed Rex :,) I also think it's significant that he joins the Bad Batch on his own terms and we're given a really emotional scene to specifically show that he's not just like 'lumped in with the other misfits' but that it is his choice to go where he feels his place is.

A lot of people, myself included, are disappointed that TBB didn't have more time to explore Echo's PTSD, but I think the one panic attack scene we did get is really good. Even thought it's minor it at least is an appropriate reaction from a guy who was medically tortured (which is more than I've come to expect from Star Wars shows lol)

And it's really sweet to see Omega showing Echo some empathy and consideration.

It would have been nice to see more of his adjustment period, and other side effects like chronic pain and maintenance, but there’s a lot of daily life stuff the show never had time for (i.e. we don’t know if he removed his prosthetics to sleep, but we also never saw him sleep anyway). His disabilities might take on a background role (much like the character himself sadly) but for the most part they aren’t invisible or erased, nor do they define his character and arc.

Physical Appearance

Okay this one is bit dicey, bc on the one hand, yes complaints that Echo’s paleness (caused by burns from the explosion or chemical burns from the cryo-chamber) is whitewashing are totally valid. But I also think you can draw comparisons to real life conditions that affect pigmentation/complexion (like you know burns). So while I understand why a lot of fanart will depict him with his original skin tone and with hair, consider that there are real people who have to live with temporary or permanent changes to their appearance, and the idea of “fixing" him by making him look more like his old self can be problematic.

It's also interesting to note that Echo could act as a reversal of the 'disabled/disfigured = evil' trope. He's pale and bald and wears black and red, which is so often visually associated with villains, but we all know Echo is the bestest boy™

The Headpiece

Echo’s headpiece is interesting because within the show we don’t actually ever learn much about it (idk if there is more info in books or whatever bc i don’t have them so?). He didn’t have it in CW so we know it didn’t come from the Techno Union and therefore Echo probably had more choice with it. We don’t know its exact purpose but it’s most likely related to his scomping abilities. When he is hacking with his scomp in CW, before he has his headpiece, it’s clearly very mentally straining:

We don’t see him struggling like this in TBB once he does have it (though that could be bc he got more used to it over time). There doesn't seem to be much of an impact when he removes his headpiece in s3 ep14-15, except that he gets stuck in the ports every time he uses his scomp which is not something we’ve seen before:

There might not be an exact real-world equivalent, but the headpiece is some kind of accessibility aid. It means that someone specifically designed a device to help him adapt to the changes the Techno Union made, as well as a helmet that integrates it. It’s removable and visually very present, much like a cochlear implant would be. (A lot of people actually headcanon it to act partially as a hearing aid, since it makes sense that Echo’s hearing would have been damaged in the explosion, but there isn't really any indication of this in canon.) The headpiece is never really acknowledged in the show, but I think that's a good thing. It's something he needs/wants and it just exists, completely normalized, and that's pretty cool 👍

Legs

Sigh... So from the very first episode of TBB I was really disappointed that the animation team or whoever completely visually erased Echo’s prosthetic legs (I think we all were, honestly, if fanart is anything to go by). It’s one thing when he’s in armor because he would probably want to protect his prosthetics, but we literally see him in his blacks and there is no indication whatsoever that he lost his legs even though it was not left up for debate at all in CW:

Like ??????!?

This is just really strange to me! Idk what went on behind the scenes with this decision but I don’t really see why it would be that much harder to animate or anything since it’s 3D and they've done it before. We do see some pretty sophisticated cybernetic technology in Star Wars canon that mimics real limbs:

But Luke’s fancy hand is technically 20ish years from now, so Anakin and Maul are more of a representation of what level we could expect here

So yeah, for no apparent reason, his leg amputation is effectively, visually and narratively nonexistent. Which is not great 👎

Arm!

The scomp on the other hand (uh lol!) is the complete opposite and I kinda love it!

At first I, like many others, thought it was a bit odd that they didn’t give Echo a prosthetic arm. Losing hands is basically a Star Wars tradition at this point, so robotic arms/hands are well established within the worldbuilding:

We aren’t necessarily given a canon reason for why Echo doesn't get a cybernetic arm (again unless it's in some lore book I haven’t read, sorry). General fanon explanations I’ve seen are that he either couldn’t because the Techno Union wired the scomp too far into his nervous system, and/or the resources to give him one were deemed too expensive for a clone (what about his legs tho?), or that he chose not to, usually because he thought the scomping was useful.

Regardless, I actually really love this choice (and it's the whole reason I made this post), because here's the thing: There’s a lot of problematic tropes out there that either erase/cure disabilities or compensate them with perks (like how pretty much any blind character is actually not blind by some sort of magic power). With amputees that is done with robotic arms. The character is still an amputee or course, and there is still value in that representation, if this story from Mark Hamill that makes me tear up is anything to go by:

but for the most part these characters function like anyone else, just with a limb that looks a little different. It’s no more than a video game skin, an able-bodied actor with a green screen glove. It “cures” the disability, or it actually makes the character even stronger than usual:

It usually makes sense within the world of the story, but the reason it’s not so great in my opinion is that in the real world we just do not have technology anywhere close to that yet. Prosthetics can more or less replace any mobility from lost legs, but not for all the complexities of a hand (and even if they could the average person wouldn’t be able to afford it).

I think it's actually really super cool that Echo’s scomp bypasses the canonically-established amputee erasure and functions much like a stump would irl. He integrates it into his movements and everyday life and it’s (as far as I know) a lot closer to an everyday amputee’s experience.

It doesn’t define his character, it doesn’t hold him back, he lives a full life, the other’s don’t treat him any differently, and he’s still a total karking badass

The only additional thing is that he sometimes uses it as a weapon (which given his story, I think it’s cool to see him taking back autonomy in a way, and we only see that like twice)

And also the scomping, which could be seen as the 'added/compensating superpower' trope. But narratively it's no different than if he was plugging in with a hacking gadget of some kind (he didn't necessarily "need" to lose his arm for it) and it’s not like Echo is completely defined by this skill. Personally, I think it's well worth the positives of him actually having a visible and realistically impactful amputation.

I see a lot of posts or comments out there that say stuff like “how come Echo doesn’t get a hand?” or fanworks that do give him one and I just think it’s a bit of a shame. If he did get a robotic hand, it just would have disappeared the same way his legs and Anakin’s arm did (aside from that one time he got yoinked by a magnet). When Echo did “get a hand” in the last two episodes there were comments like “yay he finally got a hand! but it doesn’t even work” but I was actually so relieved that it didn’t! Bc for one thing that wouldn’t make any sense, he grabbed it off a droid, it wasn’t designed to implement with his scomp, that would be really complicated. But more importantly because it again refused to erase/cure his disability! It functioned like a real-world cosmetic prosthetic (useless beyond appearance) which is exactly what he needed it for, so that he could blend in better with his disguise.

And he continually took it off throughout the episode and ditched it at the end. He only used it for the necessity of a stealth mission, he doesn’t feel the need to visually “fit in” in his daily life.

TLDR: Echo’s scomp is actually really cool from an amputee representation perspective, especially within Star Wars, and I think that deserves some appreciation

Beauty and the Beast

The Cinder/Adam video I've been planning for several months now is finally under construction~. I have a lot of old notes and scribbles to edit together into a workable script, but before that, I'm going to practice a bit by talking about these new designs.

🌹Adam🌹 Brightening up his look with an open jacket and a white shirt to sort of symbolize his developing character in the Neverfell AU. He does NOT get a redemption arc, but he does get a few shades lighter on the 'moral greyscale'. I'll explain all that in the eventual video. ^^ Anyway, my goal was not only to make him look brighter, but also to make him look slightly less serious; like a more playful rendition of his 'edgy badass' design concept. It's kinda like how his more form-fitting Volume 5 design made him look smaller and more childish...except here, the big dramatic design elements (flared collar/jacket hem, shoulder pads, larger waist-cape) contrast with the tighter fit and put some power back into the outfit. The rose choker adds just a touch of cute style~

🍂Cinder🍂 ...She looks a little emo, huh...? XD I guess the eye makeup wasn't necessary, but it looks so good on her...and it also symbolizes her developing character, after she receives her Grimm arm and Salem's dark influence on her intensifies. My idea was that the new arm messes with her aim when she uses Midnight (her bow, if you remember), and in frustration she starts relying more on fire Dust and her semblance-- in a world where there are no Maiden powers for her to steal, this becomes the reason for her change in fighting style...and the reason for me to lean a little harder into the 'fantasy mage' aspect of her design, with a wide-set hood and a flared dress that hangs at her back like a cape. This allows me a chance to finally show off her adorable little laced short-shorts, which I have always loved~. Also, the dust-weaving is back, including a glowing streak in her hair, inspired by the one I drew for her 'Maiden Hunters' design. This outfit is basically everything that one should've been. ^^;

I’m obsessed with this show and fear a hyperfixation anyways here are my thoughts on every character in the show

Edwin Paine: forever my favorite, even back before the show when I read the comics! I think it’s funny that basically every man in the show wants him? I’m intrigued by his character arc throughout the story regarding his sexuality as despite dying in 1916, he seems to have had time to slowly become more accepting of gay people (I’m guessing in part due to Charles, who is pansexual), to the point where there’s only mild internalized homophobia if at all, which just exhibits itself in him denying any possible feelings for Monty. I love how face-value and logical he is while still being a sweetheart

Charles Rowland: he has a pan flag pin on his jacket which confuses me bc can ghosts only wear clothes they would’ve worn when they were alive, or how do ghost clothes work? Because he died in 1989 and I’m near positive he didn’t wear that pin back there. Anyways I do love him but I wonder about some design choices, like the one earring (not sure why it just kinda annoys me). That was more a rant abt his design than his character, which I have nothing notable to say abt since I LOVE HIM he’s so real

Crystal Palace: sometimes she was a bit annoying the way she was trying way too hard to pry into everyone’s lives, but honestly that was just momentary annoyance since nothing could make me hate her. I love how her past was slowly revealed (as someone who already knew it from the comics) and how she came to terms with the person she used to be vs the person she is now. She’s so cool!

David the demon: honestly kind of caught me off guard at first bc the person I’m dating is named David but I actually enjoyed his character. LOVED when Crystal dealt with him in the end. He was very interesting

Niko Sasaki: I love Niko, but I have some problems with her character. First of all, I feel like ditsy anime-loving cutesy Asian girl with dyed hair is a weirdly common trope? But whatever my main issue is that it feels like characters who normalize the fetishization of gay men are so common. Like if Niko had been a guy obsessed with lesbian manga evb would be weirded out, so why is it different? If we ignore all of this tho I absolutely adore her and I’m actually praying she’s in the next season bc she was one of my favorites (esp her relationship w Edwin)

Jenny: She is so hot and cool and funny I’m in love with her

Esther: oh my god words cannot come close to describing how much I love her character. She felt powerless and weak in the past and now she’s become obsessed with making sure nobody has that power over her ever again. She was so fun and I loved her attitude! I’m sure she won’t show up next season, as she was the main antagonist of s1, and while I love her, I kind of hope she doesn’t since I think her arc was finished.

Monty: His personality was like 2020 “soft boy” who acts nice and dumb but is lowkey a manipulator. So obviously this kind of made me like ☠️ bc why is he acting like that… but I still love him to bits because he’s just a crow guys he didn’t ask to be human,, Anyways yeah his personality annoys me but also I love him so much so? It’s confusing. ITS COMPLICATED. I will cry if he’s not in s2

Kingham and Litty: I honestly thought they were annoying but I can’t lie they were so fucking funny. Every time they were on screen I laughed.

Cat King: oh my god. He is so camp. I love him. There’s honestly not much to say he is simply iconic. Love how he’s afraid to be alone so chases after other people, he’s so real AGHH I love him

Night Nurse: Ruth Connell the woman you are… 😍 she reminds me of Muriel from Good Omens, in a way, and I love her! I really hope we get to see more of her in relation to the guy in the fish, and see her get to better understand human emotions and why they choose to cling onto the human world rather than pass on!

YUUTA

a little backstory on the reader!! ok soso reader is a 2nd year who's the closest with the first years and in this au you're really close to yuji...you currently maintain a long-distance relationship with yuuta! (let's pretend culling games didn't happen lol)

so let's rewind to the episode where the slice of life is happening (aka the "yuji bf material" ep ACK)

it was just supposed to be the first years but you were in the area too cuz you had just finished a mission, and yuji REALLLYYYY wanted to watch Earthworm Man 4... so you reluctantly agreed to go with them

(ps the first years kinda have a crush on you,, like idolizing ykwim)

so the four of you finished the movie when you recieved a call from your bf

so you talk blah blah blah and you're like "wait, isn't it like 3 am in Africa?" and he replies with a nervous chuckle and a "well,, guess where I am now?" and you literally scream into the phone... okie the fic is down below!!

"You're WHAT?" You screamed into the phone. "(name)-senpai, please shut up." Megumi deadpanned. "sorry, megumi. BABE, YOU'RE WHAT?" "Babe?" The three underclassmen shared a confused look. "Wait, you're here? Like in front of the movie theater? I don't see-WAITHOLYSHITISTHATYOU-" The three of them turned heads to see the direction you were waving in. "(name)!" Yuuta yelled excitedly. "O-okkotsu-senpai!" Megumi said with a surprised look on his face. "Who's he?" Nobara whispered to you, giving yuuta a weird look. "Show some respect." Megumi hisses while glaring at Nobara. "Ah, it's fine!" Yuuta smiles at all of them. "I'm just here to visit my wonderful girfriend!" "Girlfriend?" The three underclassmen feign a shocked expression as Yuuta squishes your cheeks together. "(n-name) has a boyfriend?!" Yuji squeaks. "Don't forget honorifics, it's disrespectful!" Megumi scolds once again, but he's the most surprised one of them all. "I thought you were single!" Nobara pouted. "Well, I'm not. Y'all ain't got a chance with me anyways." You smirked while giving Yuuta a peck on the cheek, leaving him flustered. "Awww... but I wanted to ask (name)-senpai out..." Yuji mumbles. "What?" Suddenly the atmosphere became cold and dark, and yuuta was glaring at a certain someone. "I-I mean-I thought-" Yuji stammered. "Yuu, babe, let's go. Let's go watch Barbie!" You insisted, pulling on his sleeve. "Okay, sure!" Yuuta's entire face lightens up as you pull him into the cinema. "O-Okkotsu senpai sure is scary..."

MAKI

soooo maki is really like NOT open at all about your personal life, it's not that she's embarrassed of you it's just because she doesn't want others to stress her out about marriage, vows... she just wants to live the present

but that doesn't mean that she doesn't wanna share you with her closest friends though! And she's going to... but she keeps forgetting.

so basically you, maki and nobara are having a girl's day out and some creep tries hitting on ya...yk what's gonna happen.

"What do you guys want?" Maki asked you while you guys were lining up for the crepe shop. "I think... strawberry?" "Ohhh I want a blueberry one!" "Okay, I'll line up. You guys can go sit on a bench and rest." "You and Nobara walk to the bench under the tree, chatting excitedly while Maki told the cashier your order. All of a sudden, Nobara stopped talking and narrowed her eyes as a young man walked over. "He-Hello miss?" He asked timidly after tapping your shoulder. "Uh, yeah?" You give him a confused look. "Do I know you?" "N-No... I just wanted to ask for you nu-number...m-mommy...?" He squeaked, fiddling with his hands. At this point, you were beyond disgusted. "What the actual fuck?" You snap. "Get the-fuck-away from me!" "I-I like being degraded..." He whimpers as you push him away from you. "C-Can I get your number...? Promise I'll call you mommy..." "I don't-" "SHHHKKK." A long blade was dug in the bark of the tree behind the man, with only a millimeter to spare. "H-Huh?!" His voice's an octave higher. "Don't you ever touch my girlfriend ever again, scum." Maki growled as she came back with two crepes in her hands. "I-I-I won't! I swear I won't-I'll-I'll never-" "Shut up, little shit." Maki grumbled as she put her hand in yours, the man stumbling away and crying at the same time. "You okay?" Maki asked you with a concerned look. You giggled in response and held her hand tighter. "Love ya."
