PokéTWST Part 7
Tumblr media
Silver's team may seem a little mismatched, but they are quite complementary with one half catering to Silver's napping needs...
Snorlax and Musharna both aid Silver when he's sleeping: Snorlax as an oversized pillow, and Musharna as a dream eater (KH references much Toboso?). Musharna will eat the dreams of others, helping them to either forget the dream or consume the nightmares.
The color of the mist emanating from Musharna shows the type of dream the host has and will inform the other Pokémon what Silver is dreaming. However, if the dream is becoming a nightmare, the mist will turn black.
Gallade and Aegislash know this. Gallade, being the "master of courtesy and swordsmanship," will guard Silver and Musharna diligently, knowing that waking a Musharna when the mist is black will bring Silver's nightmares to life.
Aegislash too will stand guard in Shield Form in order to protect Silver.
And the other half assisting with his sparring and etiquette training.
Gallade make for great knights-in-training. They are fiercely protective of their trainers and able to predict their opponent's moves. Silver loves to practice his swordsmanship with Gallade since it fights as honorably as himself.
Gallade are also chivalrous and seek to assist those in need, much like Silver. And so when Silver falls asleep in the middle of a task, or when he is preoccupied with Malleus, Gallade is there to fill in the gaps. If anything, Silver wants to learn from Gallade's example.
Aegislash, having both offensive and defensive abilities, also makes for a challenging opponent. However, Aegislash is more intrigued in Silver himself.
Aegislash are able to "detect the innate qualities of leadership" and thus are drawn to royalty. Initially, it was Malleus's Pokémon, but as Aegislash developed an obvious interest in Silver, Malleus gifted it as a birthday present as an example of what a royal protector should look like.
Aegislash are known to loyally serve entire lineages of kings, which Silver one day hopes he could do. It's a constant reminder of what Silver is training for, and the amount of faith Malleus has in him to reach that goal.
This one was soo cool to put together! Thanks to everyone who gave their Pokémon recommendations as I would've never thought up of this dynamic! If you have any ideas of what TWST character fits what Pokémon, feel free to comment. I'm always updating my list!

in my head, the reader from the alhaitham!vampire au/fic is equally as fascinated by the fact that he's a vampire as he is they're human. Like they are aware that it is a dangerous situation but not for them, other people sure but they're safe. They don't have to worry about taxes anymore and they can still do the things they like and enjoy, it's not like they can't see their friends anymore, they can but they were never the most social person anyways so it's not something that happens regularly anyways.
in my head I have a conversation between them and another person going like: "he killed a man" / "he did and he takes full responsibility for it and apologizes sincerely" (he will do none of these things)
but I wanted to run this by you and see what your thoughts on this were, love your stuff by the way
「 au masterlist 」
Tumblr media
Hmmmm in any fic, I always try to keep the darling's personality as ambiguous as possible so they can be interpreted however the reader pleases. Some key characteristics do tend to shine through, besides, Vampire Alhaitham and darling have quite a dynamic soo :>
In Vampire! Alhaitham's case, I tried to imply reader to be 'everything he wasn't hoping they were'. Vampire Alhaitham may be down bad for darling to the point he strays from his usual principles, but in terms of intellect, he's far more advanced and dangerous than our Feeble Scholar — so, I wanted this big bad vampire to be at his wit's end.
I have the same curious!reader vision as you!! Their innocence and purity is what made Alhaitham so intrigued and, kept him from killing them in the first place. As for the curiosity to shine (and birth some adorable moments), the dependency to take effect or the matter of awareness, depends on whether we're talking about pre-kidnapping or post-kidnapping.
Pre-kidnapping reader is blissfully unaware of the rollercoaster that's about to hit them — sure, they have some suspicions about the recent happenings in their lives and the nagging feeling that they're constantly being watched, even in sleep. But there's no concrete evidence to prove anything. All the while, Alhaitham goes through the five stages of grief regarding his feelings for the person he was sent to murder 😕
After-kidnapping though? There is nothing called 'the outside world' beyond Alhaitham's ridiculously secured house for you, my dear. Your previous life and the sunlight you want on your skin? You don't them anymore. ... To Alhaitham's credit although, he's just trying to keep you safe from the filthy claws of the Vampire Lords :( You understand it's for your best, don't you?
Darling's persona will contribute to them submitting without much of a fight, honestly. As you said : no taxes, no annoying people but a super handsome vampire that looks after them and asks (almost) nothing in return? They have no one else left anyway and deep down, they just want to be loved. Besides, would you really think about escaping at all from him, after witnessing what Vampire Alhaitham is capable of doing with his bare hands? I trust you're smart enough to keep that possibility, forever just a possibility.
I can see that conversation happening after Alhaitham's plan has succeeded fully, him killing someone will be as normal as breathing to reader at that point and that childlike whimsy?? Oh, just when Alhaitham thought he couldn't love you any harder.
Honestly though, I'm just happy seeing you ponder over this, go as crazy with your hcs as you want <33

PROGRESS UPDATE + VOTING RESULTS!! [4/20/24]
Hey Witxhes! So the votes are in and first of all, I can't tell you all how much I appreciate the time you took to read & vote for the samples. The process was very illuminating, to say the least, hahah.
I'll start with the voting results! With 64.8% of the vote, 2nd person POV came out on top (which isn't too surprising!).
Next up, winning 66.7% of the vote, y'all made it VERY clear that you would much rather have your MC in their lab, working away at trials of the Hangover Cure.
Now, onto the tricky bit... OG vs AU. It seems you guys had as hard of a time deciding between them as I did, leaving the vote split pretty evenly.
So that being said, I'm gonna go back to the storyboard to see what threads I can take from the OG and AU stories to weave into something new... something that combines the best elements of both. A new story where the reader can choose if their MC has been closer or more isolated from the Silverlakers, among some other things. But I'm excited and really intrigued to see where this new story format ends up taking us!
And as planned, I'll be adding a bunch back to the prologue so the reader can get a better feel of the Silverlaker dynamics, right off the bat.
Alright, onto the most frequent thing I was asked about during this run... Ash. Soo I heard a lot of feedback from some readers having issues with MC having an established relationship in their teenage years, that was out of the control of the reader/MC. And while I'm not trying to take away your character's autonomy, I am trying to tell a story that begins a specific way.
I know that this story is new, and our relationship as writer and reader is also new and tentative and vulnerable, but I'm asking you to trust me with the story I'm telling. There will be sooo many options, dearest readers, for you to explore all of the ways your MC's relationship with Ash was or wasn't... whatever. And how MC feels about it now. Nothing will be assumed or shoe-horned, as there will be lots of choices, questions, and room for customization.
So! While I work away on the first rewrite, I'll be posting character profiles. ROs & Silverlakers to start with, and then family & some of the outer Witching World. As for the actual demo, I'm going to try to have it written and posted for 15 May. But if everything aligns and I finish it before then, I'll be running over here to share it with y'all. So thanks again, and please don't forget about me & the Silverlakers in the next couple weeks 😅

what do you think of the canon version of China finding chibi Japan in a bamboo forest
I do enjoy a lot of the inherent weirdness and charm of hetalia canon, and I think the clear Princess Kaguya / Tale of the Bamboo Cutter reference is cute, but ngl it's one thing I do personally retcon completely because I like these old men salted and brined in the convoluted mess that is asian imperial politics: to re-situate Kiku and Yao within the reality of Chinese imperialism, the Sinosphere and also the fact that Yong-soo (whom I see as also being the older Korean kingdom of Silla) would've known of and relayed Kiku's existence to Yao first, given the history of Korean-Japanese contact and the Korean peninsular's long history as a cultural intermediary (and also point of conflict) between Japan and China.
I tentatively think Yao very likely met Kiku for the very first time when Kiku arrived as part of an early Japanese diplomatic embassy to China, and the vibes were more like this (I couldn't find a picture of a younger looking envoy and I definitely see Kiku as much younger physically—but anw, that pic is an artistic representation the shamaness-queen Himiko during the Yayoi period of Japan):
Tumblr media
I don't see Yao 'raising' Kiku in any sense that mirrors the way I see Arthur directly claiming and exercising responsibility over Alfred; I feel that Yao and Kiku started out quite firmly as an empire-tributary dynamic (which is different from colony and empire) with a certain arms-length distance—Yao is kind of arrogant during that period too (to put it mildly) and he's like 'oh you're the boy Yong-soo referred to huh. Interesting. You can add your name to the sign-up sheet of tributaries there. Bring me gifts, will you?' There is an eventual (regicidal) mentor-protege dynamic I see forming, but Yao is very busy being an empire when he and Kiku first meet; he would consider Kiku an amusing and intriguing diversion to keep an eye on, but he is for the time-being, much more embroiled in his ambitions in continental Asia, such as his wars against other nations like Lien (Vietnam).

I feel we talk and speculate about post-canon Marchil. But what about pre-canon Marchil? They may not yet know much about each other's personal lives by the time the story starts. But from the start we could already see that they have some level of rapport and are able to bounce off each other quite well especially given that they see each other as the saner party members.
But we know its not how they started especially given Chilchucks disdain for elves, and the fact that the previous mage/sorcerer of their party supposedly almost broke the party up with their love agendas.
How do you think it played out from there and getting to the start of the manga?
Pre-canon and early Marcille & Chilchuck
Yes, very interesting topic!! There are a good few moments that are telling imo. I don't have any fun way to introduce it all so let's just go right into it, it's gonna be a long post though.
Pre-canon
We do see how they start out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like you said, Chil, like the other party members, was very hesitant at first on trusting her, that she’d be a good fit for the party etc, though he doesn’t seem to be taking it any worse than Shuro and Namari (which is interesting since Chil’s distrust of elves is more prominent).
The distrust of mages for their party specifically was due to their old one, implied to have stirred drama by being a marriage seeker with every man in the party yes. We don't know the details but it does paint a certain picture I suppose, I really hope The Adventurer's Bible 2 is gonna have new info or pages about the old party members... Doing an analysis of the party configurations pre-canon would be interesting too, for example there’s the buzzcut guy that’s implied to have betrayed Laios and it’s soo cryptic but intriguing and implied to be a significant moment for Laios, would be worth analyzing the crumbs of info we get in canon... But yes yes point is that's one side of the coin, which is eased when the party gets used to Marcille and she earns their trust by being friendly and nice, BUT there’s the other side of the coin to it where magic has been used to persecute half-foots historically, especially by elves, so there’s that bias that remains even for a good part of canon for Chilchuck, and it's stated the most explicitly when he and Marcille argue over dark magic in chapter 34.
To go back to the pictures above, the panel that shows Marcille "working hard to befriend everyone" contextualizes the extra comic in Chilchuck’s Adventurer’s Bible section(the third picture above) to be set during that time of integration into the party for her. We see they indeed had already their comedic dynamic schtick down by then… And I think that makes sense. Even at the start of canon Chil is still adamant about not making friends and keeping emotional distance, so though I’m sure he was much more standoffish and quiet at first I think going from "I don’t know you and I’ll avoid you" to "I’ll engage with you but I’m not gonna be friendly about it" isn't a big jump and it would happen naturally with time as they get somewhat acquainted.
Chilchuck does value having a good professional dynamic, so he wouldn’t want to be rude or shoot her down, and it’s also that will to help a coworker be efficient that gets him to go out shopping for a pouch with her and makes her able to bond with him on that occasion (Yes I do want to make a fanfic about it hehe. He doesn’t like to wait after people but still went with her for a pouch isn’t that sweet). Considering the way she acts with him in that extra comic, she was already very open and didn’t mind overcrowding him and seeming eager and whatnot. Imo she already looked favorably upon him from the get-go because he’s "a kid" and thus sweet and cute™️, but I still think especially with the added context of the pages on her perspective that she was extra trying to be friendly and encourage engaging with her. Even at their "on good terms for work but no actual relationship" stage at the beginning of canon, Marcille worked to get there and to have that good (decent) of a dynamic with Chil.
Although I don’t think it was especially hard either, I just think it took a while for people to acclimate to her. A lot of the prejudices in Dungeon Meshi are eased and challenged through exposure and contact, like getting a scared dog to see you as safe. "Oh, this guy isn’t so bad after all, guess there are good ones -> guess they have a point -> guess that maybe they’ve always had a point and were never all that evil" etc etc, it’s more nuanced and has variations but hopefully you see what I mean, how prejudices are tackled in Dunmeshi is a very interesting & layered topic for another day.
Tumblr media
Ah yes there’s also the extra above in which Chil says how awkward it is to wait with Toshiro and Marcille for the others to arrive, and though it certainly could be mostly about how Toshiro and Marcille don’t get along and that's what makes the air tense, I do think it shows a good level of distance and disinterest between them. It’s often referred to in canon that, previous to canon events, they all truly just had a coworkers dynamic.
Tumblr media
Even just hanging out outside of work for a drink was very uncommon. The closest thing to a friend Chilchuck would see someone as in the party would have been Namari I imagine, since it’s shown a few times that those two did go out to drink after work a couple times and got along well (as per the extras about it and some small canon moments).
I think it’s very central to their dynamic at that point that their relationship is professional. According to the timeline it’s been around 1/1.5 year that Marcille has joined Laios’ party at the beginning of canon, and since they dungeon dive regularly that’s a good amount of time to develop a dynamic with a coworker. So yes I think a good way to frame their relationship is that they’re two coworkers, who have been working together well for a while but never developed it into a proper friendship, either from lack of interest or failure to do it, like two cashiers sharing the same shift. They have a bond forged in forced proximity and casual familiarity accumulated over time, which does make their relationship a bit unique and interesting since they would have never become friends under regular circumstances. They're like that sweet & salty sandwich that you have to give a chance to, that'll surprise you and have complementary flavors if you try it out despite seeming disastrous.
Early canon
Their early dynamic is super interesting though!! Both see each other as capable, which I do think is the foundation of their relationship early on, since Marcille thought of him as a kid too closed off on himself and Chilchuck saw her as a somewhat annoying person (afaik) and an elf mage (both which make her more distrust-worthy for him) which doesn't make them very friends material at that point. But like I said, they do see each other as capable not only in their job but with their respective strenghts:
Tumblr media
Early on we get the sense that they of course have worked with each other for a while and have a good grasp on the other’s character though, and what they say is insightful on how they think of the other. Above, the excerpt is when Laios and Chilchuck come back with the dead Kabru party’s wet food. "She’s right that wasn’t okay to do. Not good I didn’t catch that, that’s Marcille for you." implying he sees her as sort of the moral compass of the team, that she’s strict on such things but seemingly he values it instead of being offput by it. On her side she says how "he’s usually the most mature here." This is in the kakiage chapter so she still fully believes he's a kid at that point, so it's interesting to see that she still recognizes his maturity demeanor wise.
Tumblr media
There is respect there, however how kneecapped or begrudging it is. I think the "you’re the next most normal person in the party after me and you have common sense thank god" dynamic was mostly forged right from the beginning of canon but not before that, since Laios while yes still having some of his questionable leadership previously (since his part was losing faith in him before Marcille joined) was more stoic and controlled, so 1) there is no great evil to band up against in the party, plus there were just more people, so 2) less reason or occasion to seek specifically each other out. But then without Toshiro and Namari they were the only person the other had when Laios started showing his interest in monsters and whatnot, the whole party dynamic got thrown upside down which made them gravitate towards each other more than they usually did. And then Senshi came into the picture but Marcille and Chilchuck had already traumabonded like kittens /j and Senshi turned out to also have an interest in monsters. I do feel like pre-canon they simply didn’t interact as much, more one-off moments and short shallow interactions and the occasional deeper, pleasant enough conversation than anything, so canon events is what really kickstarted it into something more than (acquaintance level emotional distance) coworkers.
And on that note, I think that the true shift in their relationship starts after the red dragon arc, when their goal becomes more convoluted and they’ll have to stick to each other’s side through truly thick and thin. It’s right after that Chilchuck gets a shift in character and motivation where he admits that he cares about them, and when the characters start being overall more vulnerable with each other.
I think about this page a ton for example.
Tumblr media
"Still, that Marcille…" Maybe I should check out how the original phrased it, the ‘that’ does add a lot, but even without it there's a very impersonal feeling to it. Like they really are just starting to get accustomed to each other after all and sizing each other up, which isn’t all that wrong considering the context of finding something very important about her out that would shift everyone's perception of her, but it does definitely show distance imo, even with this being after the dragon arc at chapter 29. He thinks of her as silly and sketchy at that point as per the scene with Leed... It's rocky, it's rocky, but they do hash things out together and continue to respect each other's perspective and points, as seen for eample how they strategize together when they meet Shuro and Kabru's parties. And yes, that's super interesting!! The scene after his talk with Leed where he admits he cares about the party member is the point where Chilchuck stops pretending to only be in it for the money and he lets himself bond with the others more, so it makes sense to me that he'd have processed the whole "Marcille dark elf" thing and moved past it, but it does show a lot of trust in Marcille that even despite her dark magic show he goes to her for strategy talk and like, doesn't worry about her doing faux-pas and getting themselves killed or in jail unlike with Laios or Senshi which he feels the need to monitor lol.
I think the bicorn chapter is the chapter that truly cements them as having a relationship in its own right. He opened up about himself and let her in on personal aspects of his life, and that makes him finally ready to fully drop the wall of "coworkers only, no friends nope, our relationship starts and stops at when we enter and leave the dungeon". And of course by the end he's straight up saying he'll introduce her to his family lol <3
Conclusion
So yes overall they do seem to know each other the way longtime acquaintances would, and they have a good grasp on each other’s character, but their vision of each other is severely kneecapped by other factors, Marcille seeing him as a kid and him having a bias against elves and mages and also just optimistic nosy people lol. Chilchuck is only interested in working with her efficiently, without making friends, and besides him being a coworker whose skills are very needed Marcille is only interested in him in a gossip curiosity way and in a ‘Aww I should make an effort to include the kid in things, he should open up more!’ patronizing and infantilizing way. You can’t really bond as an equal with someone you think is a kid after all, so early on it’s more of a caring after attention/interest she has for him, and the process of her growing to see him as an adult is very slow and gradual. They're tough to feasibly work with in a shipping sense early on, like yes ok they have very funny chemistry but at what cost... But I sure do love slow burns and complicated people growing to love each other through learning about them through thick and thin and compromising to better themselves and make it work, so!!
It’d be interesting to have marchil (wether platonic or romantic) fancontent exploring their pre-canon relationship, especially if we were to try and have them learn to know each other more and form a deeper bond and all, but it literally took all of canon to get them there. It took them having to do a desperate emergency dungeon dive with initially only 3 party members, where they don’t have any choice but to spend a lot of time in almost only each other’s company and have to forgo the usual boundaries, when fighting for each other’s lives and learning things about each other like being a 'dark elf' or a 'father of three'. It took 57 chapters and a lie-detecting virtue-detecting monster for him to open up about his wife and family, and who knows how long it’d have taken without that monster or without it having attacked him, serving as evidence that he’d been lying about it. Who knows how long he’d have been fine lying, y’know?? And learning that he cheated on his wife made her esteem for him tank, it’d have made them more tense with each other if anything if the bicorn hadn't proven his lie wrong. Beause it's def implied too that Chilchuck would have said that lie if super pushed int otalking about his wife, which would have happen with or without a bicorn appearing in their path right then.
In the end it’s like how Laios said, thank you Falin for being eaten, and thank you everyone for being the gender that you are, because if any detail had been different the adventure either wouldn’t have happened or would have happened very differently (worse). Best marchil slow burn is canon real?!! Jk there’s so much that could be done with them both pre-canon, during canon and post-canon, but yeahh they’re such complex characters with a complex dynamic that making it both organic and IC would be so hard. I do like the take that he is attracted to her to some degree though, and I feel like Marcille has a general curiosity and interest in romance and maybe experiencing it herself, so I wouldn't say that spontaneous interest would be impossible, but the biggest obstacle is Chilchuck's wife situation tbh because the man is planning on staying faithful and celibate right up to at least divorce if not his grave lol.
Now I do want to write a canon divergent thing where Chil refused to try and tame the bicorn and the party kept on thinking he’d cheated on her and the new dynamic with Marcille though… Eventually she wants to understand him and ask about it, and it keeps getting worse, before it starts getting better because this time around exhaustion caught up to him and he didn’t need the bicorn to make him admit he hasn’t… The whole end thing of his arc would have to happen pretty differently man, whew, especially since he has a complex where he doesn’t see himself as a good man, not virtuous or moral, cowardly and selfish etc etc, so without having a monster with its objective monster senses going "ew you’re a virtuous husband I hate u" it’d have been harder for him to truly consider that maybe the situation isn’t quite as hopeless as he thought and he should at least try blablabla. But Marcille is the next best thing to a bicorn, she can psychoanalyze him and hype him up, I have faith I have faith. Most feasibly though I feel like pre-canon fics with them would be ficlets of moments in which they unexpectedly interacted and went the small extra mile of going beyond small talk and both try to connect a bit, learning to know each other just a bit more, piquing interest or curiosity or making them re-evaluate each other, that’d be fun.
Like you said it's not a topic that's often analyzed and all, so I ended up going all out and being somewhat rambly... Apologies apologies, hopefully this wasn't hard to follow along with, and was good food for thought and had good points! Maybe it feels a bit far from your initial question that was only about going from their first meeting to the start of canon, but I feel like only analyzing their early relationship in that scope and consider the first hurdle in them growing closer fully over and done with doesn't encapsulate the core of their issues with each other and how they deal with them and eventually overcome them. It took a lot of time and insistance and efforts and for their prejudices to be challenged and proven wrong many, many times for it to truly stick and for them to be truly comfortable and open with each other. Early marchil truly has traumabonded retail coworkers energy to me lol, speaking from experience and traumabonded being meant as an hyperbole.

you have such a kind heart for bringing food and supplies to the 10martha trenches when you actually won the lottery <3
TenMarthas have always been my comrades in arms in the war that TenRose has plagued upon us all. Tenmartha's dynamic is soo complex and intriguing . And you are one of the biggest and best Tenmartha truthtellers @stewy and opened my eyes to them and I love you for it.
Yes TenDonna is my Doctor Who OTP but I am also
- a multishipper
- a Martha Jones lover (I wanted to see her in the Tennant specials soo badly)
- an enjoyer of good storytelling with thematic depth
And for these 3 reasons I can't completely rejoice with my fellow TenDonnas.
First off, I find it incredibly hysterical (which means it makes want to laugh and cry at the same time) that RTD repurposes his "I want to give my companion a Tennant-Doctor to grow old with"-plot line for Donna. Talk about lazy writing. But at the same time he now grants Donna the (in my opinion) better version of this storyline: He gives her a Timelord Doctor, not a human clone. With a TARDIS. I mean on a story level he writes that the Doctor is ready to live the rest of Donna's life with her, something he didn't want to do with Rose. (I know he frames TenDonna as platonic but come on, I have been living on scraps forever and finally us TenDonnas get served a five-course-meal. Shoutout to everyone who sees TenDonna as a queerplatonic relationship, they are the true winners of the Doctor Who lottery. <3<3 ) And this is just hilariously vindicating for TenDonna.
But watching the specials and pondering over them has taught me that I actually value thematically rich storytelling about characters having to make sacrifices, stories about loss, and death and grief and growth (I have reblogged Capaldi talking about how these themes are the core of the show). I value this type of storytelling over my personal OTPs having a happy end.

Please word vomit to us about Ilztaufein's complicated relationship dynamics (if you want, no pressure) 💜
HAH! Oh, you've asked for it.
i'm not proof reading any of this stream of consciousness lets goooo
_
Tumblr media
Alright soo early in the game Izzy never had any sort of actual interest in the other party members at all, romantic or otherwise. He's a pissy little prince of a man who likes things a certain way and isn't so far removed from his noble upbringing in the underdark that he's unlearned all his negative associations with other races (or even with drow themselves tbh. he'd say he's complicated but he's mostly just a bitch), but he's still a good guy in the most technical sense so he did start to get close to them in spite of himself.
He's also a man who's pretty used to just casually sleeping with other members of his teams whenever the desire arises. So when Astarion propositioned him like...QUITE early on he was like fuck it. Whatever. I could use an orgasm. And Astarion was similar enough to him in personality (and to drow in appearance to be quite honest) that he didn't give it that much thought. Fun romp in the woods, whatever nbd.
Tumblr media
Only that Astarion like...didn't seem to get the hint, or something. Because despite Ilztaufein being pretty clear that he was just having fun, Astarion started crossing some lines from one-night stand to fwb and then maybe a little more? Only Izzy still was never really feeling it. I mean, Astarion was fine. The sex was technically well executed and Astarion is handsome and fun so he had no regrets in that regard. But see this sad little human was starting to worm his way into Izzy's mind. He kept showing pieces of himself that Ilztaufein didn't expect from someone like him. Hints and pieces of greater power, greater ambition. And Ilztaufein was intrigued.
Tumblr media
Then Izzy learned about Gale's past with Mystra, about the truth of the orb and what he'd done and rather than being worried he was sorta. kinda.... well that was like really really hot??? I mean sure it was foolish and it backfired but the power it had to have taken in the first place to do what Gale did. To catch the eye of a goddess too. And the ambition to aim so damned high. That was the turning point. Gale was no longer just some wizard that claimed to be an archmage and wanted to learn to play sava. Gale WAS an archmage. A chosen. A powerful man with powerful means and powerful desires and Ilztaufein wanted, needed, to be part of that.
Tumblr media
So he was still sleeping with Astarion on occasion, the vampire showering him this performative sort of affection that never really did anything for him but Izzy didn't care enough to stop because like. Whatever floats your boat, man. And flirting with Gale in the meantime, spending most nights discussing magical theory over a game of lanceboard or sava as they taught each other their chess game of choice. Falling hard for Gale, and not ever really trying to hide it. He'd never wanted someone like that before, but being such a little princess, he always got what he wanted.
Tumblr media
The hiccup is where Astarion comes into this. Cause Astarion's little pet names and affection and all that definitely started as a performance but in spite of himself he'd actually started to fall for Ilztaufein. A sassy little minx who shared a lot of his interests (and mannerisms. and clothes), who even though he was a good person fundamentally, didn't really do anything for the sake of altruism. Who made him laugh, and didn't give a shit about his past, or what he'd done, but was immediately more than happy to help him with whatever - whether that be casting Hold Person on a bandit specifically so Astarion could drink from them without fuss, teaching him how to make drow poisons, or straight up plotting against Cazador.
Tumblr media
So Astarion is maybe sorta starting to fall hard. But he's never been free before. He barely knows who he is. He doesn't know how to be alone but he also doesn't know how to be with someone...in the way he might want to be with Izzy. Maybe. If he lets himself think about it long enough. So he's weighing his options.
Talk to Izzy. Tell him how he feels. Tell him that maybe what he wants with him is more than sex (and, honestly, maybe not even sex at all). Maybe they get together, maybe he swipes the drow out from under Gale's nose and they live a long, long life together of hedonistic debauchery. After they kill Cazador together. Maybe Ilztaufein helps him find a cure. Maybe they spend the rest of their lives in the underdark. And Astarion never truly gets to be his own man, shackled forever to love.
Don't talk to Izzy. Keep up the seduction and squash his own growing feelings. Keep Gale's big soft eyes off of his paramour long enough to get the job done, kill Cazador, and be free. Then dump him, and go learn who the fuck he actually is. Take many lovers or none at all. Every choice made from that point on would be his own, at the cost of perhaps breaking his own heart.
Or, the option he's starting to realize might already have been made for him when he wasn't looking: Let whatever is happening between Gale and Ilztaufein happen. Just. Let him go. And hope that they'll still be willing to help him anyway out of..what? the kindness of their hearts?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or maybe if the old tramp who came by the camp gets his way, Gale will blow himself up and leave Izzy in mourning and Astarion can be there to pick up the pieces and resume their little thing from wherever they left off. Have his cake and eat it too, at the cost of a perfectly good Gale, I suppose.

it’s a posting day I guess which is great timing with my lesson later….one cannot choose when hyperfixation strikes….anyway ethan/max. Is so fascinating. Because I really do see so much mutual interest and playfulness going on and I think Ethan is—attraction doesn’t play into it when you’re dealing with Ethan, but he’s interested by her. He likes her, there’s a back and forth that’s exciting and intriguing. And also so much fear, way more fear than he lets himself feel or acknowledge in the moment, but you can see it in the framing and the acting. He’s using her, and she’s using him, it’s a mutually beneficial business transaction, but the power dynamics are soo unequal. Max is being seduced, but she knows she’s being seduced. Ethan is out of options and desperate. He needs her to like him. And he likes her. And he’s scared of her.
Interestingly there’s a fundamental difference going on with Alanna. She doesn’t need Ethan to like her. She doesn’t have the power he has, and she wants it, she wants to own him and take him over, but—it doesn’t really matter whether he reciprocates the kiss or not, what matters is proving that he won’t stop her. It’s not a seduction because she isn’t trying to make him enjoy it. It’s better if he doesn’t. Also she IS SCARED OF HIM. God

I love the idea of dad best friend Eli 🧎🏼‍♀️ Here's what I imagined 😔: (im gonna use "you" as example because my mind works like this 🧍🏼‍♀️)
You're the daughter of one of the two teachers that are "friends" with Eli (him or the other one idk😭 just some kind of teacher that works with him)
Tumblr media
Aaand given your passion for chemistry and for Doctor Michaelson's studies, your father decides to introduce you to each other 👀
Soo I don't know, I just like the idea of him being flirty in a way only you can understand, at maybe some dinner or something like that 😭 Imagine just days later discovering that he's your professor, too 😔
Hfjshfjdvd I'm dying just imagining him who puts his hand on your thigh under the table 😮‍💨
Okay too many thoughts for now sorry 🙏🏻

Solo Leveling Side Story Manhwa: Review and Analysis
Hello, everyone! This time, I will be providing a review of the recently released Solo Leveling side story Manhwa. This Manhwa is a spin-off from the main Solo Leveling series, narrating intriguing stories of hunters and other characters in the world of solo leveling. If you haven't read the main series yet, I recommend doing so first, as this Manhwa contains spoilers and references from the main series.
Tumblr media
Solo Leveling side story Manhwa consists of several different arcs:
First Arc
The first arc revolves around Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In, depicting how their relationship evolves after Jin-Woo becomes the strongest S-rank hunter in the world. This arc is filled with romantic and humorous scenes between the two, as well as intense actions when facing dangerous monsters. It also provides deeper insight into Cha Hae-In's character, revealing a dark past and profound trauma.
Tumblr media
Second Arc
The second arc focuses on Go Gun-Hee and Choi Jong-In, narrating how the two oldest S-rank hunters in South Korea collaborate to maintain the stability of their country amid threats from the Red Gates and the international hunter association. This arc features political and strategic aspects of the solo leveling world, highlighting conflicts between various interests and factions. It also unveils hidden secrets behind the Red Gates and the origin of the hunter system.
Third Arc
The third arc delves into Sung Il-Hwan and Cha Min-Soo's story, describing how Jin-Woo's parents met and fell in love in the past, as well as their involvement in experiments that changed their fate. This arc serves as a prequel to the main Solo Leveling series, explaining the background and motivation of Sung Il-Hwan, a key character in the story. It also portrays the emotional and tragic aspects of their love story, along with the sacrifices they made for their child.
Overall, the Solo Leveling side story Manhwa is a highly captivating and entertaining work for Solo Leveling fans. It provides new information and perspectives on the solo leveling world, delves deeper into existing characters, and showcases excellent and detailed artwork. The storyline is engaging and dynamic. I highly recommend this Manhwa for those seeking more insights into solo leveling or simply looking for quality entertainment.

🪞🫶💕📍 RAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
hello gummy !!!!
🪞 which character is most like you and why?
oh this is a tough one right off the bat…. i’m probably gonna go with lizzie not Just bc she’s my fav character but actually there’s probably a good reason for that . i also kinda have a temper i try to control. and also my fav colour is red. yea see we’re practically the same person. also i like to be dramatic just for the lols
🫶 otp?
ohhh if you’ve seen enough of my posts u already know this . DIZZIE. AKA DARING AND LIZZIE. AKA THE ONE CANON SHIP THAT HAD SOO MUCH POTENTIAL BUT DIDNT GO ANYWHERE!!! if you’ve read the wonderlandiful world book you’ll especially understand where i’m coming from. literally even a snippet of it is in my header. it’s just sooo!!! idk!! i like the drama of everyone expecting daring to be with apple or at the very least a “Proper Princess”.. but here comes this wonderlandian princess who threatens to chop people’s heads off and there is just . Hearts in his eyes (pun intended). he’s completely smitten. and lizzie is just like Ugh this guy again but secretly finds him intriguing and likes the fact he likes Her for Her. my fav ship dynamic. obviously not biased but i think it’s the best out of the daring ships mainly bc i cant personally imagine cerise being attracted to men and i already told my thoughts on darabella.. i have many more thoughts on dizzie i should probably make a post on that.
this ship is just so criminally underrated there’s rlly not enough fics on this. i have soo many unfinished dizzie fics that will hopefully one day see the light.. who knows
💕 any other character dynamics you like (family, friends, ships)?
oh u already know what i’m gonna say. CHARMING SIBLINGS!!!! the books especially portray their dynamics so well. which is why i have a bone to pick with fics or interpretations where dexter or darling, specifically dexter, get rlly annoyed at their brother or daring is rlly condescending bc while dexter mayy be a little tired of being in his shadow they all still love each other!!! daring and dexter playfully wrestle, daring laughs as darling swings on his arm like a monkey bar, daring is proud of “dexter” suddenly improving in hero class and reassures him later that he knows this isn’t his thing but he isn’t going to hurt him while jousting…. i also find it entertaining to read about dexter and daring shooing off all of darling’s suitors, it’s nice to see how protective they r of her. and that one diary entry of darling remembering a memory of the three playing in the mud and then running away into the forest, making fun of their mother. it’s so cute . so good.
i reckon my love for this sibling dynamics and most sibling dynamics in media is bc of me being an only child and projecting bc i’ve always wanted siblings like this but anyways…..
📍 favourite eah location?
ooh interesting question . is it weird to say the castleteria LOL. i’ve always wanted to be in those american school type cafeterias and the different levels in the castleteria just seem even more fun. so that or the study lounge bc i’m a Nerd and like to study in environments like that.. i liked to study in my high school’s yr 12 study room especially when it was quiet, but it was also Just as fun to just chat about anything with friends and other classmates

something interesting i just remembered about hawkfrost: he's mentored by leopardstar. which is intriguing considering all the shit leopardstar's done
Goddd Hawkfrost and Leopardstar make such an interesting combination and it's a shame that their dynamic has become so warped over the years
We start out TNP with Leopardstar basically doing the bare minimum for the other clans in a time of great need. She oh so "graciously" allows WindClan to drink from their river, after winning a battle for Sunningrocks with ThunderClan. She's proud, assertive. This is the same Leopard from TPB that Fireheart dreads receiving help from, because he knows she deals in favors.
This is a very powerful, very assertive character... and she made Mistyfoot deputy as an apology. As if it was the one glimmer of remorse following the execution of her deputy.
Isn't it fascinating that when Mistyfoot was out of the way for a while, the first pick she makes is Hawkfrost?
A warrior she trained herself, yes, but not even 2 years old. Never had an apprentice. Biggest achievement is being accusatory at Gatherings and threatening war.
The character described as being identical to Tigerstar, physically and mentally. Why would she do this if she was really sooo guilty and learned her BIIIG lesson about not trusting fascists?
If Leopardstar really is what the Erins later decided that she was, in hindsight, this... sad, remoseful, regretful little meow meow just trying soo hard to make up for her mistakes, then this action, the appointing of Hawkfrost as deputy, is just stupidity. Being completely deceived by a smart, evil man, or having SUCH poor judgement that she can't even realize the truth about Hawkfrost.
After getting to the lake, Hawkfrost has this quick line with Brambleclaw that I think really puts everything into perspective. Bramble thinks they have a lot in common, and that he can bond with Hawkfrost over a sort of shared 'othering' they've had in their clans.
"It's really hard growing up being Tigerkin!" Basically. And Hawkfrost responds,
"Tigerstar was never such an enemy to RiverClan."
ISN'T THAT FASCINATING?? That RiverClan as a unit did not learn their lesson about Tigerstar. That maybe Leopardstar is looking back to that time with fondness. That when Hawkfrost convinces them to chase out Brook and Stormfur, that he exploits a hatred that RiverClan never truly got rid of. That it's the same malignancy that killed Stonefur, little more than a few seasons ago...
I mean, personally, I find that a lot more compelling than, "Evil Cat appears! Evil man corrupts fundamentally good society! Evil man's death means the Clans can have peace again :)"

curiously and politely paging @fancifulpurposelesslovely to ask about summer sons thoughts, if that's okay!
in particular, the andrew/sam power dynamic + what that means for their relationship post-canon, because i think we both picked up on the same undertones in the text but came to different interpretations. and i'm just intrigued to poke more at your take and hear more about it.
on my end, the baseline of it is, i think andrew's passiveness and his over-reliance on a second party to act as his lighthouse is present throughout the events of the book. he expresses this desire explicitly and implicitly, to be owned, leashed, and led. and i've always seen it as a result of trauma more than anything else, relating to the cavern and therefore to eddie as well. i often think andrew's arc is about many things, but one of the top things is that he's learning to be a real boy. instead of being half a human being, living only a small portion of personhood. the way he was after the cavern and early on in the book.
i think there's andrew grows a lot throughout and comes into his own; the eddie/andrew relationship feels like it is hardcore bdsm-coded but for two boys who don't know anything and they're just kids thrust into this dynamic to cope, and even eddie seems to become miserable and burdened by having to carry andrew through life. it feels like to me he really did want that space away from andrew. he really wanted to have a world, a time with things he forged in nashville just for himself, albeit temporarily. the cavern is this thing that forced them both into this shape and they never got the help to learn another way of being, no matter how miserable it made them amidst the intimacy and love.
and the story is, to me, andrew slowly expanding his horizons, unearthing parts of himself and his life that he had been cut off from, and finally getting a feel for who he really is, a complete andrew blur. he discovers and accesses his sexuality for the first time, both sexual sensibilities and his sex drive. and unlike with eddie, he lets himself engage with his agency as a human being; he breaks into a whole new world through sam, and finds that he's able to have a different kind of dynamic with him, finds that he can grasp at his anger and annoyance at being ordered around and act on it. theres no need to make himself do what sam wants just because sam wants it, and he feels comfortable delivering a rejection. ("i'm not your bitch so tell him yourself.")
the cavern stunted him as a person and eddie too, and there's a throughline there about overlooked childhood trauma. especially for male queer victims in a suburban setting, already expected to be social and sexually active with women and drug-using.
character arc-wise, and mostly centering andrew blur, i've always thought he would outgrow the heavily codependent dynamic he had with eddie, where his primary role in life was to act as eddie's right hand man of sorts, everything eddie wants eddie gets, and andrew blur exists to provide a personal service to eddie fulton. hobbies, academics, careers, relationships, every sector of his life he has developed not for himself but in devotion of someone else. someone he was forced to become metaphorical bride to at 12.
post-canon, after andrew's matured and come into his own, i imagine he can bring these new parts of himself into the relationship with sam, things he never had with eddie. and it would be different, something straying further from bdsm dynamics.
and this got real long, but i'm curious because i feel like you know more about the bdsm side of things better than i do. and my own is pretty rudimentary, so andrew never struck me as someone who is submissive and enjoys it.
this is not to say sam/andrew don't have those vibes, they soo do, andrew/eddie were 10000% like that in practice, and andrew definitely has the submissive markers. though to me, he embodied that role, developed those traits and lived that life with eddie due do a unique set of traumatic circumstance.
so, no hate or judgement, i just wanted to share and wanted to hear more about this book. especially from a different perspective, when i feel like we both did read the same book and saw the same things. i'm more than happy to trade takes.
open invitation to talk about this book and the andrew/sam power dynamics, basically!

unpopular opinion: idk exactly how unpopular this is but ive seen a loott of people saying it and. i dont think mike was mean 2 evan bc elizabeth died and he took it out on him or Whatever tf it is people think (i also dont even think she was dead at this point. imo) i think he was just mean bc. he just was mean yk. he just enjoyed being mean to ev and scaring him. as older brothers often do. i just dont think there was some deeper reason i really believe he was just being mean for the sake of fucking w his sibling. side note i dont think he ever wouldve taken it as far as the bite incident on his own i think that was jst a special case bc his bullying was being super enabled by his equally dickheaded friends. ykwim? not like he wasnt at fault he absolutely was but like i think it was a mob mentality kinda thing. if thta even makes sense. ok im actually soo interested in tintin right now could u explain what it is / what its about
Okay so it's basically a series of comics made by a Belgium artist(Hergé), there are also cartoons and movies made that are based on those comics. Don't remember the exact dates when the comics started coming out but they were mostly popular in the 50-70s
The reason I got fixated on Tintin is because of the artstyle and the writing. The jokes are funny, characters are very likeable and overall very fun to watch them interact, especially the dynamic between two main characters - Tintin and Haddock
To describe the whole thing as short as possible - Tintin is a reporter who travels around the world and gets into different dangerous situations. Every comic is filled with excitement of what's about to happen next, there's a lot of mystery and intrigue almost all the time (+jokes)
(If you don't know where to start I'd suggest you either read some of the comics or the cartoon adaptation from the 90s! That's the one I'm watching at the moment and I've been enjoying it very much!)
Also you can reach out to me too, I don't mind chatting about Tintin :D
