to attempt to categorize aziraphale & crowley's actions into the simple dichotomies of 'correct' and 'wrong' or 'good' and 'bad' is to employ the exact same fallacy that the show warns of. throughout season two we see aziraphale struggle with morals and their ambiguity, no matter crowley's assertion (and demonstration) that there is no true 'good', no true 'evil'- that the lines are not only blurred but frankly non-existent- aziraphale can't move past the principles he was raised on. good actions are good (inherent to angels, inherent to heaven), evil actions are evil (inherent to demons, inherent to hell). aziraphale's decision to try to 'fix' heaven is the perfect representation of the reality of the universe. he believes it to be a simply good decision, something angels do and heaven is all about (he'll get heaven back to normal! back to being good!) but the reality of his decision is so much murkier than that. it isn't that aziraphale did something bad or evil, nor is it that he did something correct or good, he did something that, like many things in the universe, embodies both.

I was so closed to reblog a post about Jc and WWX that made me itch for implying that WWX was horrible to JC like JC was to him.
Excuse me? What else did you want WWX to do? Not giving his core to JC? Or revealing the Golden Core Transfer to further cripple JC's fragile ego?Letting the cultivation world torture the Wens Renmants to death? Or listening to JC and putting a toddler, his grandma and the rest of elders, women and weaks back to labor camp? Disregarding his and JC's life debts toward the Wens Siblings? Letting WN die? Asking JC, who already showed he wouldn't do jack shit to help WWX protecting the WN, WQ and the rest of Wens Renmants? Letting the Cultivation World, specifically JGS, possess the Yin Fu Hu?
Please tell me what should WWX have done better?
Also, what Jiangs' Legacy that JC protected besides wealth, reputation and power? What about the Jiangs' motto and principles, a.k.a, "know it to be impossible but do it anyway"? The one thing that made Jiangs clan stand out and not liked " any rich clans"? I mean, Jiangs' Legacy died the moment JC chose not to honor his life debts he owned the Wens siblings (who were the reason that the Jiangs was still survive), simply because he was afraid to lose his face and reputation. (Also, the purple raccoon chose the worst clan to ally and marry his sister into, and he knew JGS was a disgusting man-whore, and his son had been a major cunt to JYL in past). Plus the whole Wens Renmants' debacle is another cherry on top showing that protecting the innocents is no longer the Jiangs' priority. Considering how Jiangs clan later become more grandeur but unfriendly to commoners, the Jiangs clan after Sunshot Campaign was slowly becoming the empty-self of its former glory, which is another tragedy of JC and the Jiangs clan in general!

I wanted to say, bc I saw someone mention Geralt as an example of a predetermined character in an rpg that works, that yeah, I fully agree it can work! But in Geralt's case, for example, he's a well established character who's fully written before you start the game. He has his own traits, his flaws and shortcomings, history, relationships, etc. He's just as well written as any other character in the story, and the only things you have power over are his choices and a bit of his fighting style(sometimes his hair as well), but everything is made to fit with who this character is as established before the game even starts. Think of the origin characters in Baldur's Gate 3, it's the same thing- they're not customizable, they're established before you even start, and the only control you have is over their journey. None of these are ever meant to be a blank slate, and they're written as such.
With this Phyre character it's like they're trying so so hard to tread the line between "this is a character that stands on their own" and "this is a blank slate you can fully customize". What you end up with is a very "meh" sort of character, who's not one or the other, without enough wiggle room to make your own story however you want and not enough to get attached to them as they are. We get attached to Geralt bc he's a fully written character in the game, you just control his actions. The problem with Phyre is that they're neither a fully written character nor fully yours to write.

I headcannon that Superman is weak to the color green. You know how in dcxdp fics sometimes ectoplasm and kryptonite are one in the same? Or even simply when ecto affects supes? And the reasoning to that connection is because theyre both GREEN. SO what if kryptonite is just rocks painted luminescent green and no has told superman. Like if someone painted a bullet with some cheap green paint that's practically flaking off the surface and just, shoots superman, it works? No ones tried it ofc because why would they. It's a closely guarded secret by the justice league. Superman is the only one not in the know. Even the other supers know. (It typically works better when the paint is either glow in the dark or luminescent) Superman is confused why they won't let him touch the glow in the dark sticky notes (that just so happen to be green) they look so cool! He wants one too :(

by all means gotham knights 45 is one of the most disturbing batman stories and while i appreciate it for bruce's partial self-awareness, the guilt complex and ugly grief, the way the whole family engages in victim-blaming, their dismissive attitude when it comes to jason's suffering, the fact that they treat the whole thing as nuance or an attack at their egos, truly makes me surprised that some read it as a story about bruce's sensitivity. it's a good batman story if you want jason whump maybe. or if you want to talk of bruce's hypocrisy. but this is not what the intention of the writer probably was. what the writer wanted was for the reader to buy into the "jason-was-doomed-from-the-start" narrative that for the most part absolves bruce of any fault. it wants you to believe that bruce's good intentions erase the blatant classism of both the editorial and in-universe character logic. this is why when bruce reiterates the words from dc #574 about wanting the best for jason but instead killing him, this time it lands flat. "i allowed him to have hope... and it killed him." is what bruce says, suggesting that jay was devoid of it without him, and once again enforcing the idea that his background made him cynical and damned, waiting for a savior. but that's just not true. it undermines the very premise of jason's robin run and aditf itself. and alfred saying that jason had a father but what he needed was a mother, which within the context of the whole narrative the reader is supposed to believe too- what a joke. i just can't help but think that gk #45 was simply written with ill intent and without taking itself seriously. it briefly recognises the questionable nature of the sidekick institution- especially in jay's case, just to sneer at jason's pain the next moment. it's all so bitter and disingenuous.

thinking about how different but also similar andromeda and sirius' disownment/running away was.
andromeda leaving, not because of ted, but because her family were were so prejudiced and corrupt. they all knew she was going to leave, it was an ultimatum- us or him. and she loved her family so much, but as soon as they made it clear she had to choose, she knew she had to leave them, because they didn't truly care about her or anyone else's happiness. druella and cygnus were fairly calm about it, as soon as she made her choice she was no longer their daughter. bellatrix was outraged, pleading for andromeda to stay and then refused to acknowledge she had ever existed once she had left. narcissa was sad mostly, she understood to a small degree and kept some of andromeda's belongings but never spoke to her again.
sirius leaving because he couldn’t cope. he had seen and experienced life and family outside of his own and ached to have that for his own. he had long realised his family weren't good people, and had twisted views which he despised and couldn't remain to be a part of. he left suddenly in the middle of the night, the evening before having gotten into a terrible fight with his parents and realised he had to go because it would only get worse. orion cared more that sirius was meant to be the heir than the fact he was losing his child, walburga was furious at the loss, being stuck with the wrong child and blamed the potter's for everything. regulus felt betrayed that sirius had left, that he didn't care enough to stay.

[pericky; a look into ricky's head during their meeting.]
---
"I'm glad you came, I wasn't sure you would." The wine pours, the sound of it drowning out the missing word in that sentence: back.
Of course, is the response, and the part of Ricky that's spent twenty years tearing itself apart to understand why vibrates with relief. It doesn't matter anymore. Of course, of course, he thinks giddily along with the words. He never needed to wonder why Pericles wasn't coming back in the first place; he was always going to.
I'm happy you invited me, and of course he thinks again. A lifetime of pretending he wasn't always going to either falls away. However harsh and lonely the world has been, all's right with it again; and the shy voice of the boy inside him that he's tried so hard to kill says, so quietly, I missed you.
#sdmi#scooby doo: mystery incorporated#pericky#ricky owens#professor pericles#anyway fucking end me actually. lay me down to die#i said i was gonna write more pericky and by fucking god i did#the 'why did you do this to me' to 'oh thank god you didn't actually do this to me' pipeline of abuse folks 🥲#which like. their last conversation is yet another devastating example of ricky finally standing up to pericles' bullshit Too Late#ricky denounces him in the strongest terms he knows; based on his own feelings and opinions and the way he sees the world#(which: even then he can't bring himself to say 'i don't love you anymore')#(the closest he can get is 'i chose you and i can't take it back; the only way i can imagine not loving you is if i never had at all')#and pericles tries to go 'nyeh nyeh whatever i don't care' (and does a real bad job of pretending he is not obviously hurt lmao)#and ricky doesn't try to understand his logic; he doesn't try to reconcile a world where pericles didn't *really* mean to do anything wrong#his response is MAYBE YOU *SHOULD* CARE.#pericles' view of the world and what's right and acceptable are warped and *wrong* and he's the one who needs to get his shit together#'you shouldn't have abused me you shouldn't have killed cassidy you shouldn't have murdered a child in cold blood'#that is MASSIVE and i think it is really telling that pericles' response is to shut him down with force instead of trying to argue any more#and that in the end is the real true fucking tragedy of it all#ricky is making huge strides one after the other to take back his freedom from pericles emotionally#....and materially it makes no difference to improve his situation in the moment; because pericles doesn't have any less power to abuse him#he never has a triumphant moment where he Overcomes His Abuser and Breaks Out of His Control#there's nothing he can do to fight back until pericles is too Literally Dead to control him anymore#it is one of the rawest depictions of the reality of abuse i've ever seen and just. God. i love it so much#(at the same time i REALLY want to explore a version of events where he got the chance to expand further on that growth)#(the 'all witches are selfish; make all things yours; i have a duty' speech from the wee free men comes to mind)#whosebaby makes things#whosebaby writes#SDMItag#dyn: when i die i want you to die too

late Carlo and Moretti (during vinci-moretti war) are like Luca and Clemente to me. Moretti will never raise his hand on Carlo but! will he drive him into guilt in ways that are not direct? insult him in passing? convince Carlo that he's doing everything wrong, when in fact it's the opposite? of course such a painful kick to Carlo's ego, it's unfair, he doesn't deserve it. and it's not a father-son relationship, it's a professional relationship and he can't say anything back & defense himself in any way maybe Moretti's more favorable to Eddie in this period because he's more blindly loyal and Carlo feels he's about to explode
#^ i wrote it before that hounds thing but its about all this anger was once love etc#carlo who is a capo who has done so many terrible things for this place watching how eddie gets bonus points for blind loyalty: 😐#and it's not even that he's a capo it's that carlo says the right things but moretti dismisses him every time#also ok😬😬😬my truth! is that eddie really was against killing moretti at first#and when he finally decides to support carlo well. is it just a change of master? (yes)#m2#moretti family#and!#as far as i understand Moretti's murder took place just a few days before his victory? fucked up thing#i mean. it just makes Carlo an even shitty man. he chose himself over the majority#(i can't think about any war theme on a physical level at this point so. i have only abstract thoughts on this)#but objectively: moretti family may have gained control of the vinci family's territory of influence etc#instead they got a young crazy don. and everyone was alright w it (?!makes me think for what reason)#which is why i think there's been something wrong with Moretti in his last yrs. he looks much older thank frank n leo#for now he's just an old man stubbornly clinging to power to me. but not to say that i worked on his character much#i think he became weaker hypochondriacal and paranoid towards the end. “i saw his hands trembling” carlo bout moretti etc#“akela missed his kill!” and the young wolves tore him apart#ewwwwwwwwwww no Carlo who sees Moretti growing weaker and instinctively his teeth are bared more and more ewww#kill the weak and old so the young can survive😬😬 (fucked up thing is that they aren't animals they would survive w moretti in charge)#spoiled hounds parallel makes things so much complicated tbh. but it feels right

thinking abt atsv. and how i think “miles was never meant to be spider-man” is kind of bullshit or at the very least being spider-man is so not his fault. bc clearly kingpin was meant to set up that collider. so following that pattern of logic that spider was meant to be brought into the universe. so it’s not too far-fetched that miles was bitten. not like he sought out the spider
not to mention the canon has pretty clearly accepted miles as a spider-man. he’s been spider-man for a year and a half and his dimension is fine (interestingly enough, so is the universe his spider came from). he had/has canon events like uncle aaron and also his dad potentially dying soon
like i think he actually very much was meant to be a spider-man. so

So considering that the climaxes are the way they are, at this point my best guess is that the premise of tatsumi's center is gonna be. A western right wing hate group starts associating with one of their songs. How do alkaloid stop that.

Akira being like, obsessed w loyalty, but having it as a positive(ish) trait is so fun to me. He doesnt outright say it or ever ask for it, but theres like an unspoken bond between the thieves and himself. He asks for it (demands, really) because he gives it in return. Its the classic ‘ride or die’ mentality; he demands trust and loyalty bc he 100% trusts his team. He would not have baited himself into what would be considered his literal death if he was not COMPLETELY and UTTERLY faithful to his team and the cause. He trusted them to fulfill their end of the bargain no matter how difficult that wouldve been for them. And because of their mutual faith in each other, leader to team and team to leader, they all managed to make it out and live another school year.
He has very little regard for his life but hes not necessarily reckless. Hes calculated. And while hes a bit out of sorts in the beginning with all of these new ideas and concepts, he quickly finds his footing later in the year. And bc he is assembling a team of people who are loyal to Him, he can afford to be loyal right back to them. He can afford to be risky if the risk is mitigated by having his team follow up on his actions. This team has to run like a well oiled machine; any hiccups will get the rest of the team caught or worse; hurt or killed.
Ryuji inadvertently sets this trend, bc he is Ride or Die at heart and he somewhat influences Akira on this matter. And its why he is so reluctant to truly incorporate Goro onto the team (at first). Goro IMMEDIATELY clocks Akiras leadership as something heavier than simply ‘i lead this group to keep everyone on the same page’, but he wrongly assumes Akira has some sort of Thing about power. Theres no real power trip; he is not okay with limiting his teams voices on any matter. His ideas are not the end all, be all of any plan; hes Not Shido. I can imagine how tough Saes Palace was for everyone, but they needed to have unwavering faith in each other to pull off such a mindblowing plan.
I dunno where else im going w this, i just like thinking of Goro feeling some kinda way about Akira (and the thieves) unanimously declaring him as the leader of the thieves fully knowing what shady things theyve done up until this point. Someone who claims to change peoples hearts is deciding who gets to keep their free will or not, and to have a team basically say ‘yes hes our leader and we would die for him’ does NOT look good to anyone! Especially to someone who is quite literally killing people on behalf of someone Very Bad! Who then Dies for it!
#he is my little meow meow and a litte fucked up actually#goro would never want to be completely loyal to anyone#he follows his own rules#but like akira still trusts him? and it makes him so fucking upset#like how dare you act like im predictable#like i would just blindly follow you like an obedient dog#but he still trusts goro#and he still includes him in plans and hangout meetings#bc he fucking knows what his team is capable of#and their loyalty to him; and his loyalty to them#means that literally any wrong move would have goro dead like no joke#i say this as an avid goro lover and applogist#but if he literally killed Any of the thieves he himself would be dead very shortly after#and to some degree goro knows this#and it makes him a bit (alot) bitter and angry but also like#this is the life he chose yeah?#and like SO WHAT if he listens in a bit more at meetings?#and SO WHAT if ryuji invites him to eat with the rest of them Just Because#and SO WHAT if Akira loudly; with his whole being; acknowledge that he Wants Goro to be with them#and having that mean that he would be completely 100% loyal with Goro#and wouldnt die for him bc he Knows thats not what Goro would want#but would do it only if he absolutely must#and SO WHAT if that means he too is being read like an open book no matter how insistent he is that his pages are sown shut#to hear yusuke say ‘no i do not think that would be wise; goro would agree’ and have him ACTUALLY be right like fuck off#fuck right the fuck off !#you dont get to know me im unknowable !!!!!!!!!!!!!#tagging as#akeshu#shuake#bc like i want to find it again
