The infamous swordsman of the Straw Hat is known for his ability to stand his ground in any battle and situation, with one foot in front of him–he doesn’t hesitate to draw his sword if someone pisses off the crew. Saints forbid those who pissed off the swordsman because he will show no mercy and no hesitation, until it’s the captain’s orders—and an order from you.
It’s no secret that you and the straw hats were once against each other in the fight at skypiea but that fight is the fight Zoro hesitated to hold his sword—maybe because he’s finally facing a right hand of the so-called god or maybe you were fighting against your will or maybe—just maybe—he didn’t want to hurt you. He still remembers how you gripped your sword with such anger and shouting at them to leave the island to protect themselves—call it a warning or a sign but at that moment, Zoro wanted to save you; he was glad he did.
That was two years ago and here you are now waiting Zoro to wake up from his slumber after fighting Kaido and Big Mom. You reached for the damp towel as you wiped his worn-out body and slow heaving chest—Zoro looked peaceful when he sleeps, he always does, but moments like this you wish you can just see him working out at the crow’s nest, hear him argue with the cook, look out for Chopper, or just seat and listen to you.
This is what you hate the most every time a battle ended, the silence of waiting, hoping, and wishing that all of the crew members are okay—the unwanted fast paced heartbeat as you wished for them to be okay. You sighed deeply as you caressed Zoro’s face and continue to wipe his cheeks and dance your fingertips in his hair.
“Please, wake up…” You whispered lowly as you stare at this sleeping state and replace his old bandages with new ones. Once you finished cleaning him up—a small smile left your lips as you kissed his forehead. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
Morning after morning, the green-haired swordsman and the future king of the pirates are still asleep—with no luck, you decided to spend the night looking out for the two; which Chopper didn’t agree at first, but as Chopper felt the tiredness catching up in his body—he agreed.
Then, it was a week: a week of looking out for the two whilst also switching watching duties with the straw hat; but most of the time: you stayed there not wanting to switch with Sanji nor Nami as you hold Zoro’s hand muttering and wishing that he should wake up.
--
Usopp rushes in the hallway and knocked on the room where you stayed—with a loud voice he announced that Zoro and Luffy are awake. You two immediately rush into the room—your pounding heartbeat and the ringing in your ear didn’t stop you—he’s awake, Zoro is awake—you kept on repeating on your head—the two of them are alive and okay.
Hesitation floods in your mind as you stood by the door but soon was replaced when you hear cheers and a familiar laugh coming out from the room—as Usopp opened the door: there you saw him and Luffy.
You didn’t know when or how but Chopper was clinging and trying to stop Zoro as he chugs a huge bottle of sake. A smile escaped your lips as Luffy called your name in such glee, with a last chug, Zoro finally locked eyes with you: saints, he missed you. You gave him a relieved smile but somehow covered when Hiyori placed a bottle of sake in front of him in which he groaned. He moved the sake aside and watched you talk to Luffy—he should speak to you—but before he can speak, he felt hands of Hiyori creeping from behind.
“You were out for a week.” Brook explained as he drank and ate next to the crew.
“We aren’t dirty though.” Zoro stated as he eyed his hands.
“I cleaned you up.” Hiyori announced from behind him, earning a choke from Yamato, as Yamoto looks at you, as you catch his look—you chuckled in your cup as you drank sake. As Sanji and Zoro banters about Hiyori—you laughed at the sight—everything is okay, Wano is free, the crew are laughing, and Zoro is okay.
“We should have the banquet, today!” Momonosuke announces.
---As the entire people cheers, Zoro locked eyes with you once again, as you raised a cup signaling him for a cheer in which he nodded and gave you a cheeky smirk. For the time being, Nami have decided to take a bath, inviting you, Robin, Hiyori, and the others as well.
You leave the room as the boys continue to drink and eat—that until Zoro noticed that you’re no longer in the room he’s in—he stood up and left the room while also removing the bandages on his body because it restricts his movement as he walked.
--
You were preparing for the bath when you entered your room until you felt a familiar arm holding you from behind. It didn’t make you flinch nor scared, somehow, it comforted you. You hummed at the person who’s hugging you from behind.
You felt his chest on your back he holds you tighter. “You left early.”
“Nami invited us for a bath.”
            “You didn’t talk to me.”
            “You were busy drinking.”
He then let you go from his grasp and hold your shoulder to make you look at him. “Thanks for cleaning me up.” You smiled softly as you eyed him.
            “Hiyori did.” I teased innocently.
“She did but you did it every day…”
“How can you say so?” He then holds your hand and placed it on his cheeks. “I know how your hand feels when you hold me, woman.”
As he placed your hand on your cheeks—he leaned in at the contact. “I’ve missed you, Zo.” You whispered lowly as you pulled him into an embrace, you settled in his chest as you listen to his heartbeat, beating pretty fast.
He hummed as you said those words as he fiddled with the strand of your hair as you hugged him. “That was pretty dumb, you know.”
That left him confused. “Law and Sanji told me what happened—that was dumb, Zoro.” He pulled away from the hug and noticed that some tears are threatening to fall from your eyes.
He wiped them away as he waited you to continue what you’re about to say. “You almost died.” In that moment, his heartbeat begins to beat faster: you were that worried.
“That was dumb because the way Law told me, it seems like you were ready to die---”
“I wanted to protect Luffy and you—”
His heart breaks as you shook your head. “Protect yourself too. I know you care about the crew but I don’t want to face this again—the fear of you not waking up, like in Thriller Bark? I know you don’t want to lose anyone but—I don’t want to lose you too.” Your hand shakes as you cup his cheeks again.
He grips your wrist and gave your wrist a ghost kiss, uttering a soft whisper that he can only hear. As he kissed your wrist, he just stared at you. He kissed your hand, fingertips; he kept staring at you.
As he looked at you with a soft gaze, he pulled you closer to him.
“I’m sorry.” He only follows Luffy’s orders but—somehow, even you’re not the captain—he follows you. “I’ll get stronger so, you won’t feel like you will lose me again.” He kissed your temples and wiped your tears, as you nodded.
He stared at you for a while and his eyes lingered in your lips. Without a warning, he placed his lips into yours as you taste the sake he drunk from before. He hummed in your lips as you reciprocate the kiss, he placed his hand on your nape as he was eager to pull you closer to him if that was possible, while your hands roam around his body.
His chest, neck, abdomen, arms, and biceps—it was explored by you—he pulled away as he settles his lips on your neck muttering your name while he does. Your hand fumbles his hair, as you hold him closer. He kisses and left marks on your neck, while indulge himself with your scent.
You tilted your head as you gave him more space as his hand traveled in your kimono, pulling it down softly. He pulled away from your neck as his hand travels in your kimono—slowly untying its knot. He whispered your name as low as he could: “Can I…?”
Your hand travels into his nape as you nod. “Use your words, doll.”
“Yes…Zo.” You hummed as he let his hand let loose of the knots in your kimono. “I fucking missed you.” He whispered lowly as his lips travel from your neck towards your collarbone.
“I was just here, Zo.” You felt goosebumps as his hand travels every inch of your body. As his breaths shallows and his lips relaxes on your collarbone and chest. You whimpered his name so low; he’s the only person hearing it. He let his clothes fall on the floor as he lay you down on the futon. But he clicks his tongue as he felt a sharp pain on his chest in which you immediately pulled away.
“We don’t have to---” He stared at you with flushed cheeks and half lidded eyes: as his eyes travels at everything that is you, he groaned and shook his head as he grabbed you by the hips switching your positions—making you straddle him. He smirked as he saw you on top of him with pride as he pulled you down for a kiss.
“I fucking want you.” He holds your hips as he moved you in a rhythm. He hummed as you gasped at the pace. “Been looking for you when I woke up.” You felt him so close, despite the small clothes keeping you two apart.
“You sure it wasn’t the sake?” You teased as you stopped your hips.
            “Take it off…” He whimpered.
You never thought for a million of years that the pirate hunter would whimper under you—in hearing his plea: you take everything off your body including his: for a moment, the world seemed to stop as your hand travels into his new wounds. Your hand shakes as you saw new stitches.
Before you can say anything—he grabbed your hand that was tracing his new wounds. “Eyes up here, doll.” He said into your fingertips—but unknown emotion filled you as your lips find his wounds, you carefully kiss them as blush continue to travel around Zoro’s body.
“Oi…” He continues to repeat as you kiss his wounds. His gaze locks into you as you kissed him on his lower abdomen. He gave you a knowing look: “Come kiss me, woman.”
So, you did. His hand travels into your clit as he continues to kiss you—as he pulled away: he stared at your expression whilst you stare at him, breathless, blushing mess, and muttering his name every chance you get. As he finds the right time to slip his finger inside you and it made you gasp. “Fuck—so, fucking warm.” He whispered in your ear as his fingers continues to mark your inside.
He was slow in pace as if he was memorizing your sound, voice, expression, and your look. He kissed your temple as he feels you tightening up. “Great job…baby.” There are times where he lets himself be vulnerable and call you names, he thought he would never use.
But as your hips meet his hands—he groaned as he moved his hand in a pace where you find yourself gripping his biceps—with one last move, you came undone into his hand as he kissed your temple; “My girl…” he whispered as he felt you shiver in his touch—he pulled his hand away and he kisses his hand while staring at you.
You smiled and kissed him in his lips: tasting yourself in his mouth. “Better than any sake…” He whispered with a smirk as he continues to kiss your lips. He stared at you as his hand take hold of your hips once more as you aligned yourself into him—he slides his cock between your folds, he felt warm and you felt full.
“Relax…” You didn’t know how or why or maybe because of the orgasm you had earlier but at the same time he felt bigger. As you settle into his cock, you stayed there as he looks at you. “Babe…” He called you like a prayer—without saying anything, you knew what he wanted. He flipped your over so, he’s now on top of you.
“I got you—relax, doll.” He whispered in your ear as he stared at you. You pulled him for a kiss as he moves his body to meet yours. “Move…” He takes a short and slow thrust while he stared at your expression which let a small and deep growl out of him.
As his impatient character caught up to him—he starts to get faster; your head thrown against the futon as you moan his name is if that’s the only word you know. Your hands find his shoulder as you pulled him closer. You’re too perfect for him, your walls were made for him—he finds your neck as he continues to suck and bite on it as you hold onto his shoulder as his make your inside fit for him and only him. At this moment, your name was the only thing leaving his mouth as breathless pleas, whimpers, sound of skin, and moans left the room—tears were stinging in your eye, Zoro noticed it he stopped with the fear that maybe he was hurting you but—it’s different, he saw your tears and you were smiling, you pulled him again for a hug but this time your hips met his. “I really thought I lost you.” You whispered in your embrace.
That was his call—he holds you’re his hips as your legs wrapped around his waist—as his name left your mouth in a high-pitched whimper; he leaned in and kiss you once more. As he felt your walls claiming his cock again—he knew you were close and so was he; he reaches for your clit and move it with his thrust—without a second, you’re bound for the second orgasm from the hands of the swordsman. Your legs tighten up at his waist, as you arch your back and you feel yourself shakes. Your walls tighten around him as you keep saying his name.
As you keep saying his name, Roronoa leaned in and kissed your shoulder—for a moment, he swore, he wants to keep you like this; only like this. He fills you up with his cock as his bite into your shoulder; he twitched inside—but he didn’t pull out, reliving and enjoying the warmth settling inside you. His heaving chest and your breathless state; you stared at each other.
When you two catch your breaths, he pulls out as the both of you hiss at the loss contact. He kissed your inner thighs, chest, hand, head, and lips: uttering a thank you. His hand caress your inner thighs softly, as he kisses your temple over and over again.
Before you can say anything—he leans down and kisses your lips as you smiled at the kiss. “Still better than sake?” You teased at his kiss.
He nodded and kissed you deeper. “Still better.” You noticed that one of his stitches on his biceps were getting red—you’re scared that he can get infection— but he just laughed and pulled you into his chest. “I’ll get Chopper to check on it—in the meantime, let’s stay here.” His hands play on your hair as you listen to his heartbeat.
“I was supposed to be in the bath with Nami.”
            “Hmmm…You could’ve push me away.”
“You’re lucky that I like you.”
“I know.” He nodded as he heaved a deep sigh. “Robin told me you didn’t went to sleep, when you’re looking out for me while I was out—don’t do that again, okay, doll?”
“Just promise me you won’t get yourself killed.” He nodded as he placed your hand on his chest and gently kiss it.
“You always kiss my hand…why is that?”
“I just like it. My hands are like filled with wounds and yours are soft, warm…” He kissed it again. “Mine…” He whispered. “You always hold me so softly.” He admitted.
You looked at him as you rest your chin on his chest. “Any person should be hold softly and nicely.” He chuckled and shook his head. “With these wound and the swords, I highly doubt I’ll be considered as a person.”
“What makes you think that…?” You frown.
“I’m a monster, woman, so, sometimes it surprises me that you stay—"
“Why do you think you’re a monster?” This time you sat up—he looked at you with a surprise look on his face a parallel to your caring look as his eyes travels on the marks he left in your body; he placed his hand on your shoulder.
“I don’t see any monster.” You hold his hand that is placed on his shoulder. He always kisses your hand—so, this time, you kissed his.
“I only see the person that I love.” You kissed his hand, in a delicate manner—as if he was a porcelain glass, a gift from above; he felt his eyes sting as he cleared his throat fighting the blush trying to settle on his cheek.
“The things you me feel woman—The things you make me feel.” He muttered as he pulled you down for a kiss. You smiled at the kiss as he places his hands on your cheeks, without a sign or a signal; he muttered those three words and eight letters with a small tint of blush on his cheeks.
            “I love you too, Roronoa.”

Hi🤗♡.
Can I request teen!fem Reader with the (strawhat pirates & kid pirates & heart pirates)( the older version of them please in there 40 or 60).
The Reader got hurt very badly and she was in coma for month.
But of course everything was fine when the Reader wakes up and everyone is happy♡.
P.s : take your time okay :) .
─Strawhats, Kid Pirates & Heart Pirates x teen!reader (platonic)
─Summary: A life-threatening attack hits you and everyone is worried about your condition
─Warnings: the characters are older, like in those 40/60 year old drawings (reference)
Tumblr media
─ You are the little light of the group, being the youngest everyone was always watching you in battle, they had full faith in your abilities, but they would not stop being worried.
─ But you're not always in a completely accessible place, the others also have their own fights at the same time so the world seems to stop when the sound of your body hitting the ground catches Nami's attention. "Oh- No- no- my god, Chopper!"
─ Usopp, who was the one who had only been running and launching light attacks, was the first to approach your body, noticing a large pool of blood around you and a big blow on your head, he turned pale when he saw you.
─ He easily carried you in his arms and took you to a less dangerous place while Chopper rushed to finish off his own opponent, he was with you in just a couple of minutes, he could be older, but he won't stop losing his nerve when he has than treating a loved one, "A doctor! We need a doctor right away!" "You're the doctor?!" "Oh right!"
─ While the others finish as quickly as possible to know if you are okay, you are treated emergency, managing to stop the bleeding and stabilizing your vital signs.
─ The problem was that you spent one day sleeping, two, three… and it became the longest week for the entire crew.
─ Everyone was impatient and uneasy, they would not forgive themselves if something happened to you, they knew that you would wake up sooner or later, they would just wait for you.
─ Chopper checks on you daily, Sanji puts a glass of fresh water on the nightstand every day in case you wake up and no one is there at that moment, Luffy and Usopp will sit down to play any board game to keep you company, Zoro will take some occasional nap on the floor (chopper puts some pillows and blankets there because age doesn't forgive back pain), Nami and Robin will talk to you as if you were gossiping with them on a normal day, Brook will sing something at night so that in your sleep better, Jinbe and Franky stop by from time to time to see if you're awake.
─ Everyone's spirits fade when the second week passes with no indication that you will wake up and they think the worst, however they cling to the fact that your condition is stable, you are healthy and you are much younger than them.
─ A month later, Luffy had fallen asleep resting his hand on your shoulder, he didn't give you time to open your eyes and you already had your captain hugging you. "Hey, it's been a while, I don't even sleep that much after a good meal!"
─ You laughed confused because you obviously didn't know how long you had been out, and it didn't take long for the others to find out, you were surrounded in a big hug although Chopper scolded everyone because he still had to do one last check before letting you walk freely.
Tumblr media
─ This team fights with everything it has and you were not going to be less, although much younger, you were much more energetic than that whole group of old men, as you affectionately nicknamed them since they sometimes called you kiddo or child.
─ The problem is that sometimes you were somewhat impulsive, and that's why you attacked too quickly. Kid smiled, seeing himself reflected in your recklessness, although he scolded you. "Don't get ahead, these guys aren't as weak as they seem."
─ You turned a deaf ear since you had advanced well in the attack, but in an instant everything had gone black for you, a fatal blow to the abdomen left you completely out of combat.
─ "Oh fuck, the kiddo is hurt, shit- like, really screwed up, needs medical attention right away!" Heat is the one closest to you and the one in charge of protecting you until the bloodbath ends, which they do more quickly.
─ Killer knows that you won't wake up today because when they sewed the wound you didn't wake up because of the pain, he knew that you were very complaining about pain of any kind despite being a teenager.
─ The tension grows as the days go by, uncertainty because you don't wake up to joke that you've knocked down more guys, they are mentally torturing themselves even though they don't let it be seen.
─ Wire will talk to you to tell you all the gossip you miss, Killer will stop by every morning before starting the day hoping to see that you are standing, Heat will sleep next to you some days and Kid will not visit as often because he is venting his discomfort in his workshop.
─ Kid has been in a worse mood the last few weeks because you were the person with the smallest hands and he needed your help with some screws that were too small, which delayed his project, he missed your annoying little presence making jokes about his old age .
─ Killer had full faith that you would wake up sooner or later because they had treated you on time, it just made him nervous not knowing when it would be, "I will make your favorite food if you wake up today…" he always said in the hope that the food would open your eyes.
─ A month later when everyone got used to the lack of a gremlin running from one place to another (they didn't get used to it, that's what they want to think), you woke up, there was no one there at that moment so you got rid of all the cables, feeling good.
─ "Hey child- holy shit! you're awake, hey- what are you doing up?! You need to get checked before you walk around again" "I'm fresh as a lettuce captain! I can't say the same for you… but uh-" "I'm glad to see you're okay." He put his only arm over your shoulder and squeezed you like in a wrestling hold, roughly rubbing your head.
─ They used you as an excuse to have a party, although you didn't care much because you also celebrated and ate your favorite food.
Tumblr media
─ Law was going to kill Shachi and Penguin because you got hurt on a mission with them, you took several hits, which exhausted you, and what you thought would be a nap back on the submarine ended up being something worse.
─ They tried to keep you awake while they used what Law had taught them about minimal care, but you couldn't continue.
─ They didn't even set foot in the submarine and you were already in a bed in the infirmary, the smell of blood gave away your condition, "I want a report on what happened and the area of the body that was most beaten, we will talk about your punishment later", both swallowed, knowing that their captain did not like to see his comrades injured but above all, to see someone with so much life ahead of them injured.
─ You are treated immediately and quickly, Law knows that you will not wake up for at least a week due to the blows and your condition, but you would get out of this, that does not prevent him from feeling an emptiness in the pit of his stomach.
─ Bepo will be in your room most of the time, reading out loud so that according to him, you wouldn't get bored in your dreams, Shachi and Penguin got some free time (because they were forced to clean the entire submarine until it shined) to apologize to you.
─ Ikakku stopped by from time to time to check your vital signs and tell you some things that had been happening.
─ Even though they knew you would wake up, not knowing when the moment would be made the entire crew impatient, although Law detected some changes in your condition after a month, he knew when you would finally open your eyes, which reassured him.
─ "What the hell…?" You mumbled when you woke up seeing that your arms and legs were tied, "I'm glad to see you awake" "How are you glad if I'm tied to a bed? Oh don't tell me, have you finally lost your mind and going to dissect me?" He sighed "Security, I knew you were going to get up as soon as you woke up and I want to do one last check" "Sure…"
─ Everyone found out later because you started screaming as if you were being tortured just because had to supply something with a syringe, at least you prolonged your hug with Bepo because of that.
─ Shachi and Penguin apologized to you again, but you downplayed it, right now what mattered most to you was having a good meal, you were hungry and Ikkaku had the solution to all your problems.

Hiiiiii 🤗 I hope your doing well I was thinking about some ideas for one piece and maybe headcanons for the straw hats (mainly luffy) with a child/teenage cremate who is shy and fearful but loves the crew
They will stutter hide behind them l
Go on adventures with them
And we could see the strawhats fight over them occasionally
they don’t talk about their past but they were scared of people before due to issues but they have hope in humans but are kind and help out with things like strategies I just think it would a wholesome yet fun idea to work with
Also if you want it to be more interesting you can make them overprotective or maybe yanderish the possibilities are endless!
Feel free to ignore!
this is such a cute request omg !! tysm <3 i had a ton of fun writing these and i hope you enjoy { sorry i just chose a few of the straw hats, if you want the rest shoot me another request and i can do the whole crew :) }
✶ Shy Crewmate w/ Straw Hat Pirates Headcanons ✶
♡ Content Warnings: N/A
♡ GN Reader
♡ Word Count: 1.3k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ Luffy ♡
✶ Luffy has always been your favorite member of the crew, but you'd never tell the others that.
✶ You find yourself clinging to him the most. His carefree way of life amazes you and you wonder what it feels like to have no fears. This wonder draws you to him more than anyone else.
✶ When enemies (or anyone, really) get too close, you find yourself getting angry and jealous. You try to suppress the feelings but they always cause your blood to boil until you lash out at the opposer. Sometimes it ends well, sometimes it doesn't, but Luffy always gives you a pat on the back that makes it feel worth it.
✶ You see him as the hilarious older brother you never had growing up. He helps calm you down in times of need and he tries his best to be patient with you, even if he often fails. It's the thought that counts.
✶ During heated battles you (very reluctantly) stay away from him. He’s always facing the danger head on and you know you can't let yourself get too involved with the fighting… Though sometimes if there's not enough time for you to make a safe escape, you'll end up with your arms wrapped around his neck holding on for dear life as he punches his way to victory. These are secretly some of your favorite moments. It gives you the sense of adventure you crave but are too fearful to seek out on your own.
✶ Luffy always saves a spot right next to him for you at the dining table. More often than not he'll unintentionally eat a good portion of your meal, but you're too timid to point it out to him. Plus, you're more than happy with what Sanji provides anyways!
✶ It may take a while (a long while) for you to come out of your shell a little bit, but once you do it's non stop goofy duets between you and the rubber man.
✶ He’ll never leave you out of the crowd. Even if you're trying to cower behind him, he'll pull you into the group huddle and make sure your voice is heard. It can be overwhelming at times, but you know it'll be helpful in the long run.
Tumblr media
♡ Zoro ♡
✶ You don't talk to Zoro all the much. He's a muscular, straight-faced, sword wielding “pirate hunter” and all of those traits mixed together scares the hell out of you. Despite this, every interaction you've had with him as been nice, so you know deep down he's a kind soul (even if appearances make that hard to believe).
✶ Most of your interactions with him include trying not to trip over him while he's sleeping on the deck in the middle of the day.
✶ The other times mostly consist of his insanely quick reflexes saving you from falling off of high buildings or into the water.
✶ You can recall one time early on in your induction to the crew where he was on night watch and you sleepily stumbled onto the deck, still trying to get the hang of being on the ship. He bluntly invited you up and with a little bit of hesitation, you agreed. The two of you mostly sat in silence and simply looked at the stars in the night sky, but you remember feeling an odd sense of comfort from the man. Since this time, you often think about asking to do the night watch with him again, though your nerves get the best of you and you can never seem to spit out the words you want to. Maybe one day you'll have another nice night in the crow’s nest…
Tumblr media
♡ Sanji ♡
✶ Sanji always makes it a point to make sure you're feeling as comfortable as you possibly can.
✶ He’ll bring you special snacks when you don't ask for them, he'll cook you extra servings since he knows Luffy always takes yours and you won't tell him to stop, and he’ll always makes sure you're full before you leave the table after every meal.
✶ You feel as though you can confide in Sanji a little more than the others. You don't know much of his past and he doesn't know yours, but you can tell you both have something in common, even if it's unspoken.
✶ His presence is calming and you never feel pressured to change while you're around him. He doesn't mind your stuttering or fumbling over words- he's always patient and caring.
✶ You'll never understand his crazy obsession with women and quite frankly, you never want to. It's something you've learned to block out and you try your best to avoid him when he's making a fool of himself.
✶ He’s always the first to rush to try to help you out of a sticky situation, he'd never be able to live with himself if something bad happened to you. He feels almost a parental sense of responsibility for you. Because he was cheated out of his childhood, he doesn't want you to be cheated out of yours.
✶ You view Sanji as your more responsible “older brother” or maybe even a little bit of a father figure. You've never had someone care for you so much and it makes you feel so welcomed.
Tumblr media
♡ Usopp ♡
✶ You and Usopp are kindred spirits. You two always try to stay out of trouble and are probably the two most conscious people on the crew.
✶ You both notice the tiniest details in everything that's going on. An enemy mysteriously moved from one place to another? Both you and Usopp are keenly aware of it. The group split off into smaller groups to divide and conquer? This chills you and him to your bones. Everything that goes unnoticed by the rest of the crew in battle, is spotted out immediately by the both of you.
✶ You find comfort in Usopp’s nearly irrational fear of everything. Him making up fake illness names to try to explain these fears never fails to make you crack a small smile even when you're terrified. Him being scared of everything makes you feel less alone.
✶ In your free time he'd try to teach you how to draw if you wanted. You accept the offer every once in a while and even though it can be stressful learning to do something new. Luckily, he’s extremely understanding and doesn't mind going over one step multiple times until you've got it down. Many of these drawings end up being pinned up in the kitchen or in various Straw Hat’s rooms.
✶ During most adventures and fights, you try to stick with Usopp as much as possible. Though he may not be the most reliable in combat, you know his intelligence and slingshot can get him far. As a bonus, you know he's always going to try to stay away from trouble as much as you are. And it never hurts to have a like minded rational person around!
Tumblr media
♡ Robin ♡
✶ Robin has essentially adopted you as her own child.
✶ Much like how she thinks of Chopper, she thinks you're absolutely adorable and will go to any length necessary to protect you at any cost.
✶ She has a talent for getting you to a place of serenity when things get extra overwhelming and she'll always take the time to work things out with you.
✶ She’s extremely analytical in her ways which can be frustrating at times when her points clash with your emotions, but the majority of her advice is extremely valuable to you. You never take her help for granted even if sometimes it's unwanted.
✶ After Usopp, you try to stay glued to Robin the most. You know she can and will protect you with her life, though the danger that comes with her name scares you a little too much for comfort. You know that following her will lead to trouble, but sometimes it's worth it.
✶ You love sitting on the deck and watching sunsets with her as she reads you a book or lists off random facts about whatever it is she wants to teach you. Before joining the Straw Hats, you hadn't learned much about the world and Robin has become your personal teacher.
✶ Most of your survival skills (excluding the ones you learned on your own before joining the crew) come from Robin and her well rounded knowledge. Her intelligence amazes you and you often ask her for help with common practices, to which she cheerfully provides.

SFW ALPHABET
Nami
warnings: just fluff !
Tumblr media
Affection
In public, Nami isn't too keen on showing affection. It's not like she completely ignores you, but she more so sticks to looks of affection and longing instead of clinging to your side. In private, Nami is much more physically affectionate. She likes cuddling, being the bigger spoon, and playing with your hair. Whenever she is the little spoon, after much resistance, you can feel her shoulders relax as she settles her head on your chest.
Best friend
I think if you were with Nami your best friend in the crew would be Luffy. The entire crew loved you, but you and Luffy found a childish solace in each other. You were constantly pulling pranks, keeping silly little inside jokes, off to the side giggling.
Cuddles
Like I said before, I think Nami would really love cuddling you, but in the comfort of your private space. It her time to ground herself, running her fingers delicately over your arms and shoulders as she holds you close. Your breathing syncs up, a lazy smile on her face as she soaks you in.
Domestic
The idea of domesticity is completely foreign to Nami, but that doesn't mean she isn't curious about it. The domestic life she experienced had been short lived, but she knew what it was to be loved, and she knew that's what she wanted with you for as long as you'd have her. She'd see a future with you, settling down, a simple life, even if it took a little dirty work to get there.
Ending (if they had to break up, how would they do it)
If the two of you had to break up, Nami would def be the one to break it off. She couldn't except any other way, so she would save both of your breath and make things short. Her seeming indifference to breaking off your relationship is a front, of course, because separating from you would break her inside.
Fiancée (how do they feel about marriage)
Like I said with Domesticity, I think Nami would want something like marriage, even if she has no idea how it's supposed to work. The first time someone jokes about how the two of you fight like an old married couple, Nami freezes, but later that night, she casually asks you if you'd ever thought about getting married. I think she would see a nice ring at one of the many markets the crew came across in their travels, and she buys it, slipping it onto your finger in the private of your room on the boat.
Gentle
I think Nami is a very gentle lover, albeit a bit of an awkward one at first. She can be standoffish and aggressive to others, but never to you, although in the beginning of your relationship she didn't quite know how to show her affection. Still, gentle touches and private words of affirmation were her specialty.
Hugs
Nami's hugs are the best. Your senses are flooded with her when she draws you into her arms, inhaling deeply at her scent, her hair softly ticking your cheek, her arms tight and warm around your middle. She likes hugging because when your chests meet, she can feel your heartbeat against hers, and it brings her a sense of calm.
I love you
Most likely, you'd say "I love you" before Nami. That doesn't mean she doesn't love you already but saying it out loud is different than keeping her feelings inside, which she's used to. When you say, "I love you", Nami will freeze, but I think she would quietly tell you she loves you back. After the first time, she says it as much as she can, because she always thinks that she never knows if it'll be the last thing she says to you, and she never wants you to doubt or forget how she feels about you.
Jealousy
Nami trusts you, so she is never jealous, but she doesn't trust other people, so she is definitely watchful when the two of you are out late at night, most likely at a bar, the other members of the crew too drunk to even register that a drunken patron was flirting with you. Nami will let you speak for yourself, but if you were too drunk or too tired to put up a fight, she will swiftly turn down anyone who comes your way, and she certainly isn't afraid to pull her staff out and kick anyone's ass that is bothering you.
Kisses
Like all other forms of affection, Nami likes to keep things private. She kisses softly and tenderly, unlike the rest of her character. She also touches you softly, her hands snaking around your waist to draw you close as her lips dance against yours. She'd never admit it out loud, but you knew from the blush that would cover her face that she was particularly fond of kisses to her cheek and forehead, quick ones you'd leave when no-one was looking.
Little ones (kids)
Nami wouldn't even know where to start with a child, but she would know to love one if the two of you had one. She would reminisce on her own mother, how she had cared for her and her sister no matter what situation they had been in. I don't think either of you would have a formal parenting conversation, but you could see the misty look in Nami's eyes whenever the two of you walked by a child with their mother, a small smile on her face whereas before she met you, she would frown, pained by her history.
Morning
Nami is definately an early riser, and she will silently slip out from your slumbering embrace to go about her morning routine. She's usually back by the time you're waking up, gently nuzzling her nose against your cheek as she whispers good morning praises in your ear. She'll chat beside you as you catch up with your morning, just lingering around you simply to be close to you.
Night
You and Nami go to bed together, so your nighttime routines are essentially synced up. Washing up the best the two of you can (i have no idea how they bathe on boats but in my head the entire crew is nice and clean moving on), changing into your nightclothes, before you finally crawl up in bed beside her, her arms wrapping around you on instinct. She'll always spend a few minutes talking to you, recapping the day before yawning, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple, and whispering a goodnight before the both of you drift to sleep.
Open (how revealing, comfortable, open are they)
Nami is very closed off when you meet her, but she opens up to you quicker than she ever has with anyone else. It doesn't even take her getting drunk, like she usually does, instead she just feels like you're a safe person to confide in. You make it very clear very quickly that you would never judge her, and after you take the initiative and share some of your past with her, she shares herself with you. She has her moments of doubt, worried she might still be the same person she used to be, but the way you listen and sympathize with her as she confides in you reassures her that she's changed.
Patience
Being with the Strawhats, Nami has learned a lot about patience. I don't think she would necessarily feel like she needs to be patient with you on the regular, unlike with Luffy or Usopp. The only time she really has to practice patience with you is if the two of you are arguing, because Nami knows that she's used to just running away from confrontation, which she doesn't want to do with you. She also has a lot of patience for you whenever you get into a slum, or dark mood. It's like she can read your mind, the way she seems to know whether you need space or to be held, or if she just needs to be an ear for you to rant to.
Quiet time (what is quiet time like with them/free time)
In her quiet time, Nami likes to haul you to the Crow's nest. She likes to sit and look at the sea, her mind swirling with the maps she's made over the years. She'll have you snuggled to her side, the both of you taking turns watching the waves while the other one reads aloud from one of the many books she likes to pick up on the islands. Sometimes the two of you will lug up a small knapsack with snacks, having a picnic up there.
Remember (fav memory about the relationship)
Her favorite memory from your relationship actual came from slightly before the two of you made things official. This was when the crew landed on a small island, seemingly deserted, and had a bit of a beach day there. It was one of her favorite memories overall, but on that day, after spending the hot afternoon on the sand and in the water, the two of you had set out for a private walk a little further down the beach. You had tugged Nami aside, telling her you wanted to find a seashell or other small reminder that you had visited the island. She had helped you find some small shells, two of which were near identical, so of course you had given her the matching one. Before the two of you had reboarded the ship, Nami surprised you by pressing a small kiss to your cheek. It was new territory, making the both of you blush before going off to your respective rooms. That night, she had come to terms with her feelings for you, and from that moment on she felt comfortable being affectionate with you.
Security (how protective are they)
(I kind of talked about this is Jealous but) Nami is extremely protective of you, in her own ways. She is protective of the whole crew, that was her family, and she loved them as fiercely as such, but the protectiveness she reserved for you was different. She always had her eye on you, making sure she could step in if you needed her too. In the earliest stages of your relationship, she had been a bit more aggressively protective, but she learned how to cool herself down for you.
Try (how much effort do they put in)
Nami puts a lot of effort into your relationship, in her own way. She likes her privacy, so all of her affection is shared in the quiet of your room. She will buy you little trinkets in the cities that you and the Strawhats pass through, sheepishly presenting it as you sit in the small window seat in her room, her blush illuminated by the moonlight. She is the kind to give you pointed looks, ones where you're reminded that she loves you, adores you, and all the other things she had listed as feelings she had for you.
Ugly (how do they react to your insecurities? What about their insecurities?)
I think that Nami has plenty of her own insecurities, so she understands that you'll naturally have them too. Of course, Nami thinks the world of you, but she knows that doesn't change how you feel, and her understanding is something that brings you so much comfort. She lets you vent, she listens with a frown as you list off everything you think is wrong with yourself, before she holds you close and gently assures you of your value.
The thing Nami would be the most insecure about would be her image How she comes off to others has never been something she cared about before, but with you, she wants to be perfect. The wall she's put up after years of burying her insecurities takes a while to come down, but eventually she realizes that you'd never judge her, and that she was good enough for you.
Vanity (how groomed/consumed with their looks are they)
Nami isn't vain, but that doesn't mean she doesn't take care of herself! She tries her hardest to make sure she can bath as much as she can, she dresses comfortably but never drab, and she takes special care of her teeth, because one time you noted how beautiful her smile was. All that aside, she also likes when she can dress up nice, though those occasions were rare.
Whole (do they feel incomplete without you?)
I think after Nami realizes she is truly and deeply in love with you, she does feel incomplete without you. The two of you are hard to separate, but on the rare occasion that the two of you are apart, she is anxious until the moment she lays eyes on you again. She always hugs you a little longer and tighter than normal when she hasn't seen you for a while.
Xtra (random headcanon)
Nami likes to mess with your hair while she rants. She will stand behind you and complain feverently, mostly over the male members of the crew, all while brushing and braiding your hair intricately, just to let it fall loose and start over again as long as she needs to.
Yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, in a partner or just in general?)
Nami has a short temper, so I think that little pet peeves such as messy eating or smacking your lips would piss her off. She would try her hardest to come to you sweetly and gently, but if the problem persists, she will just silently correct you.
Zzzz (sleeping habits)
Nami is a light sleeper, but she can fall asleep right away. She always insists on being the bigger spoon, and after she falls asleep with you cuddled up to her for the first time, she decides that she can't sleep any other way. Even if she just wants to take a nap, she'll flash you her begging eyes before dragging you into her bed, her fingers ghosting over your back as she drifts to sleep.

my headcanon is what if robin was not shown celebrating in wano is a subtle way that she's jealous that hi/yori is crushing on zoro.
if u look back, whenever the sh save a country/people they always have a big banquet at the end. sh likes to party very much. look at skypiea, post-enies lobby, thriller bark, fishman island, etc...
robin always does her exploring after the big celebration but during wano, she made it during the feast. and why is that? she never once missed a big party. she's not too shy away from such a big celebration.
in episode 1079, we saw that luffy and zoro woke up after recuperating from the big battle. chopper, nami, brook, jinbe and sanji were the only sh presents when zoro and luffy woke up. the sh who were not there were robin, usop and franky. usop and franky are in the dock obviously for the ship and we cut to robin already doing her exploring.
in that episode, it was revealed that hi/yori is the one cleaning zoro's body while they were still asleep for a long time. she even bragged about it. zoro being zoro did not pay attention to it since he was more into bickering with sanji.
we all know, that brook saw hi/yori and zoro slept together not in a sexual way of course but hi/yori is very much into zoro that she drapes herself into him while the little girl otoko is also resting beside him. i wonder if brook told anyone in the sh about it. based on sanji's reaction he does not know.
i dont know if brook kept it as a secret. and if ever he's going to tell anyone my best bet it will be robin. cause robin will always wants to know about zoro (look at thriller bark, even the 1st interaction they'd ever had on the going merry). we all know she is very inquisitive when it comes to zoro.
going back to my point, i think the reason why robin is not there during the big banquet is because she does not want to see hi/yori clinging to zoro. she was not in the celebration and just focused with her work since what a smart archeologist would do compare to a princess giving too much attention to zoro? bury herself into work, looking for poneglyph, learning about wano's history etc...
on thriller bark, after the fight with kuma, she was there checking zoro's health. but here in wano she's not there which is very odd since like everyone else robin also cares for luffy and zoro.
she could've done all her exploring after luffy and zoro wakes up but no she decided that she did it while everyone's celebrating bcos she does not want to see hi/yori with zoro. even law caught it that she was not there partying.
even though it's not explicitly shown in the episode or maybe even in manga, but my girl robin is jealous... so her coping mechanism is to bury herself to work.
robin is always very reserved for letting anyone know how she feels. even though she has already been showing a lot of expressions after the timeskip. i mean oda will draw sanji and hancock getting jealous but not nami and robin cos it will instantly go to the romance trope of it all. with these 2 main girls it always subtle.
there's also a link from a blog, explaining how robin reacts or gets jealous but this one is during punk hazard arc.

This scene, Even though it's filler, really gives a lot of depth to Kyros' character.
I mean, Yeah the way he says that he wants to leave Rebecca sounds very stupid especially since he went through hell and beyond to get her back and protect her and even promised her that he will do his best to make her happy and forever be by her side...
BUT
The reason why he did that was indirectly mentioned by him throughout the saga's finale, his fights with diamante and his flashback. He told Luffy and his friends how he had "a shameful past" and was "ill bred" blah blah... But the real reason is that he saw how bad Rebecca was being treated, and now that he noticed everybody has remembered him and know that she's his daughter (even though, unbeknownst to him, they already knew but kept silent about it and played along) they would bully her over her father's past life just like they bullied her for her grandpa's sins. However Kyros didn't know that the people have moved on, and that he was the only one still beating himself up over it. Was it harsh for both him and Rebecca? Yes, because he would feel even worse for leaving her and she would think she's a burden for him. But did he know any better? He probably did, but he felt like he would be a burden for her, instead of her being a burden to him. And this is exactly why Kyros clings to the past, both the good and the bad aspects of it: he still lives in his own past as a cold heartless murderer who doesn't deserve any happiness or sympathy, and he also still lives in his past where he was by Rebecca's side, happy yet still affected by his past.
And this is why I like this scene, it shows two sides of Kyros: the side in which he knows that he did something terribly wrong and knows he can't fix it, and the side where he just can't let go of the small reminders of happiness he clung onto for a short time of his life, thus why he still keeps the little drawing that Rebecca drew of him back she was little (yes we are shown that this drawing belongs to Rebecca and she in fact is the one who drew it) because he still wants to keep her in his memory, while he wants her to forget about him for good and move on.
GOOOOOOOD WHY DID I EVEN WRITE THIS! I made myself cry again!
Not only on dressrosa, but every arc has some very small but sweet hints and symbols here and there, you only have to pay attention to spot them!

You were shameless, he had seen you in various states of undress and the things you suggested were downright sinful but no luck, no matter what you were getting the D tonight. Luffy/GN Reader, smut please? and if I could ask for one more thing? The reader riding Luffy? Thank you, Stefano!!! Maybe I'll start to read the manga tonight with something warm, sounds like a plan lol.
Hi, thanks so much for the request. I had fun writing. Hope you like it. And have fun with the manga reading :)
NSFW under the cut
"Tonight is the night, Luffy. I’m getting the D."
You promptly slammed the door shut to your shared quarters, standing in the middle of the room with nothing but a towel to cover your decency. Luffy glanced in your direction, noting the water clinging to the ends of your hair and the way your skin shimmered under the pale lamp light. You beamed at him, your mischievous smile reaching your eyes as you firmly placed your hands on your hips, not an ounce of shame as you stood proudly before your captain. He had seen you in many states of undress before and he had yet to flinch. He hummed softly as he turned his head away from you, his attention drifting back to his task as he changed into his evening wear for the night.
"Okay" he replied.
The corners of your lips curled as you cocked your head to the side with a raised eyebrow. You paused for a brief moment, eyes flickering over your clueless partner before you spoke again.
"You have no idea what I’m talking about, do you?"
Luffy shook his head. "Nope" he chirped.
You spared yourself an exasperated sigh. Damn, and that had been one of your best lines. No matter, you would recover from this and continue to push through. You were determined and nothing was going to deter you this evening. Instead of using your impeccable wit, you’d just have to speak in plain terms and hope your rubber man would catch on. You slowly approached, drawing his attention to you once more as your wet feet padded across the wooden floorboards. You tentatively reached for him, fingers tangling in his shirt.
"Luffy, I want you."
He blinked at you with large, curious eyes, head tilted slightly as a look of confusion tugged at his features. "But you already have me."
You huffed, a small laugh falling from your lips as you shook your head. "Not like that, silly."
You pushed him backwards, leading him towards the bed. He didn’t stop, even when the back of his knees hit the edge of the bed and he was sent falling back with you toppling on top of him. Your legs fell beside his hips as you straddled him, a coy smile tugging at your features. You flicked up the brim of his straw hat as you leaned down, your breath warm against his lips when you spoke.
"I want you like this" you clarified.
A sudden look of understanding flashed across Luffy’s face as you rested your full weight in his lap, your fingers walking down his exposed abdomen as you dragged your nails across his sensitive skin.
"Oh." He chuckled. "Then why didn’t you say so?"
Your eyebrow twitched in irritation but you ignored the annoyed bubble rising in your chest as you firmly pressed your lips against Luffy’s. His eyes fluttered close as he savoured the soft texture of your lips, the taste of sea salt on the tip of his tongue when he ran his tongue across the seam of your lips. You moaned softly into the kiss; the sound muffled by the insistent press of lips. You kissed back with as much passion as you could muster, delving your fingers through black locks and tugging at the wild strands. Luffy groaned in response, the sound making heat tingle down your spine and curl in the pit of your stomach. Your hips canted forward, your covered sex rubbing against Luffy’s crotch as you caught his lips between your teeth.
You parted briefly for air, only to dive right back in as the hunger gnawed at your gut like a starved beast. Luffy offered no complaint, kissing you back with as much fervour as his hands skimmed up your legs, reaching for any available skin to grab onto. You playfully swatted his hands away as he started to tug at your towel, trying to rid you of the last barrier separating you.
"Hey, why did you stop me?" he whined, a small pout tugging at his lips.
You chuckled softly. "You first~" you sang.
Your hands sank into his clothes, fingers catching in the material as you started tugging and pulling his clothes off, your heart fluttering wildly in your chest as more of his sun kissed skin was revealed to you. Only once all his clothes were off and tossed haphazardly around the room, did you allow for Luffy to finally pull your towel free. It was chucked to the side to join the pile, his eyes roving your nude form above him. You shivered when you felt his neglected member brush against your thigh, making warmth tingle at the base of your spine. You rocked your hips against his, grinding down on his bare sex until he shuddered. You ran your hands appreciatively down his body, your fingers tracing the dips and curves of toned his physique. The muscles in his stomach tensed as your hand dipped lower, reaching between your bodies to wrap around hardened warmth. You stuffed your bottom lip between your teeth, trying to contain the excited noise bubbling up your throat as he squirmed beneath you.
"You’re cute when you make those noises" you gently teased.
Whatever reply was in his mouth was quickly swallowed by another loud moan as your thumb brushed the head of his cock, smearing the fluids that dripped from the tip against his hot skin. You brought the tip of his cock to your slick entrance, the tip rubbing against your sopping hole. Your lips ghosted over his as you smiled.
"Are you ready for me?"
Luffy nodded frantically beneath you unable to contain the excited shiver that jumped down his spine as you pressed your naked skin flush to his.
"Yes" he replied, breathing wavering.
You placed your hands on his chest, feeling his heart beat dance beneath your fingertips as you pushed yourself into a more comfortable position. You took a deep breath as you slowly eased yourself down on him, the slide stinging as you were filled to the brim. The bed creaked, the sound barely audible over your moans and sighs of ecstasy as you were finally able to get what you had been craving. It left you feeling light headed, your pulse drumming loudly in your ears as your blood simmered in your veins. Luffy grunted, fingers digging into your thighs and leaving behind crescent shaped indents as your hot, pulsing walls tightened around him for a brief moment.
"You’re re-really hot" he stuttered.
You hummed softly as you rolled your hips forward, sparking pleasure deep in your core. Your tense muscles started to relax as you continued to rock yourself against him, building up a steady rhythm you knew you would both enjoy. Your fingers curled into his damp as heat pooled into the pit of your stomach, hot knot twisting tighter the more you moved. A breathless whimper bubbled up your throat as pleasure gnawed at your nerves, leaving behind a pleasant tingle that zapped you like a live wire. You were almost jostled from your seat when Luffy raised his hips to meet yours, hips knocking into yours as he moaned sweetly beneath you. You pinched his hip in warning, causing him to squirm more underneath you.
"Oi, quit wriggling Luffy" you said. "You’re going to knock me off."
Luffy gazed up at you with half-lidded eyes, fighting to keep his focus on you as you moved so effortlessly above him.
"Can’t" he mumbled under his breath. "You feel so good."
His fingers twitched as he squeezed your hips, grip hard enough to leave behind marks. You moaned softly in response, walls squeezing his cock and sucking him deeper with every firm push of your hips. You dug your fingers into his skin, nails threatening to bite down as the burning hot coil in your core grew taut, ready to snap at a moment’s notice. Your thighs started to shake, your pace growing sloppy the closer you came to your release.
"Shit, Luffy I-"
You couldn’t form a coherent sentence anymore. All your senses felt like they were being overloaded as the tip of his cock brushed against a soft spot deep inside you, breathing laboured as you tried to hold onto the fraying ends of your sanity. Your encroaching orgasm crept up on you quicker than you could anticipate and within a matter of seconds you were coming undone. The coil in your stomach shattered into a million tiny pieces, your body blossoming with warmth as euphoria seized your entire being. The sudden pressure of your fluttering walls had Luffy coming undone right after you as he writhed beneath you. He grit his teeth and groaned deeply, the movement of his hips growing still as the warmth of his seed spilled deep inside of you.
You both fell limp against each other, limbs tangling in a messy, sweaty pile as you both took a long moment to try and catch your breath. Your lungs felt like they were burning, your muscles aching in protest as you continued to twitch in the aftermath. You could feel Luffy’s heart beating frantically underneath your fingertips, his breathing hot and loud as he nuzzled the side of his face into your hair. You tilted your head, lips brushing against his cheek as his hands followed the curve of your spine. You chuckled softly, mind and body still coming down from your high.
"What’s so funny?" Luffy asked.
"Heh, I got the D."
Luffy rolled his eyes so hard they almost disappeared into the back of his head. "You’re so lame."
You squealed loudly as Luffy abruptly rolled you over, pinning you down to the mattress as you continued to cackle madly.

can i ask for zolu with 9?
U sure can! I don't know why this one got so long pls take it. Content warning for bugs
9. things you said while I was crying
The festival market buzzed with bodies, heat and noise. Kind of like what Zoro imagined being in a beehive would feel like. Bees could band together to attack larger predators like hornets, clinging to their bodies and smothering them to death with their combined body heat.
If it were up to Zoro, he would rather be the hornet than where he was standing - god he couldn't stand crowds.
He wanted to leave and get back to the Sunny already, but the rest of the crew were delighted to experience the busy island and all it had to offer. Some kind of festival celebrating the summer solstice was in full swing and that meant food, dancing and singing…
And probably trouble, judging by what happened when the Straw Hats usually pulled into port. Therefore, Zoro felt like it fell on him to keep his guard up. Also therefore, he wasn't allowing himself a drink, even though stalls selling special fire god sake were plentiful. It seemed to be an island speciality and his mouth wanted to water at the prospect.
The Straw Hats weaved through the thick crowd, Chopper up ahead with Franky, Robin and Brook, the young reindeer and the adult robot child spoiling for some local volcano candy while the resident bookworm and gentleman skeleton did a spot of antiquing.
Meanwhile Zoro trailed after his captain as he and Usopp tried to get their mouths around at least one of every edible treat the food stalls were selling, draining both Nami's wallet and her patience.
They passed a stall selling some kind of spicy noodles, so hot that the air around them burned and Zoro's eye stung with the intense aromas of garlic and chilli oil.
When he was done reaching up to rub away the sting, he noticed Luffy had stopped, staring at the noodle stall.
Assuming he was going to stop to buy a box of noodles, and already drawing a mental plan to go and buy some milk to soothe his captain's chilli-burned tongue next, Zoro paid him no mind. Instead he took a moment to bellow something at the cook about flirting with a girl doing a fire-breathing display, as he ducked his head to narrowly avoid getting his swirly-brow burnt right off his face by a stream of flames.
If Zoro wasn't so distracted laughing his ass off at the smell of singed hair and shame emanating from Sanji's stooped shoulders, or listening to Usopp get on the wrong side of some local roughs and subsequently run away screaming, maybe he would have paid more mind to Luffy's unusually quiet behaviour.
It jarred Zoro to see Luffy fine one moment, then bursting into tears the next. His captain was suddenly at his side, grabbing his arm with crystal liquid quivering in his eyes, "Zo- I- j- buh-"
"Deep breaths, Luffy." Zoro said, trying to suppress an impatient roll of his eyes. It could be something serious to bring Luffy to blubbery tears, or it could be that he got his face too close to some freshly-chopped chilli and was facing the consequences.
A few townsfolk stopped and stared, a couple probably wondering what a pirate was doing standing and blubbering in the middle of the street, or maybe the odd look like Zoro was a mean spouse bickering with his lover in public.
Then again, they were dressed a little more casually than usual that day, shorts and sandals against the heat, Zoro himself forgoing his usual robe in favour of a jinbei shirt and shorts.
The thought made Zoro feel strange, Luffy was his captain, not his boyfriend. He felt his cheeks getting warm as he reached out to touch Luffy's arm, "Hey, Luffy, let's go somewhere quiet, yeah?"
Zoro grabbed his sniffling captain by the wrist and tugged him away from prying eyes.
Away from the festival and up a hill surrounded by stunted trees, there was an old shrine to the fire god everyone had come out to celebrate. The shrine was little more than four walls made of rough brick with a wooden roof (for a fire god, there sure was a lot of wood involved in the construction of the island.)
Inside was a statue of a short dancing man with animated limbs holding torches, his eyes hooded and his face fierce, but his smile kind.
Luffy made a beeline for a corner of the wooden shack and Zoro hurried after him.
For Zoro, emotional turmoil was a problem to be solved, if he could get to the root of the problem, that meant no more crying. He couldn't help but approach situations like this in a pragmatic way.
"Well, what is it? What set you off?" Zoro said, a little impatiently.
Zoro prided himself on being observant, but sometimes his head was too full of a million stupid things - so many that occasionally something important slipped him by.
Even right then his thoughts were on the crew and how they could be getting into more trouble, like Sanji losing another eyebrow, or Usopp running into more toughs and needing backup (possibly quickly, if he wanted to brag about his crew being monsters and finding none of those monsters nearby to help).
He just had to trust they could handle themselves for the time being. And hope that if Sanji was going to do something stupid again, that he hadn't missed he entertainment.
Zoro nudged Luffy with the toe of his sandal as he curled up in the corner.
"It's nothing, forget it." Luffy mumbled into his knees as he pulled them up towards his chest. A forlorn sniffle came out of him.
"It's clearly not nothing." Zoro grumbled. He glanced around, wishing he was doing anything else at that moment than playing a weird guessing game with his captain.
The carved wooden god on the wall watched them with hooded eyes, frozen in mid-dance.
All at once, all the tiny things Zoro had observed; the spicy noodle stall, the firebreathers, the appearance of the island's local god, all added up. A soft oh wound out past Zoro's lips as he leaned against the wall and hunched down.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Zoro said, as gently as he could.
"Everyone was having such a good time, I didn't wanna ruin it." Luffy mumbled, pulling the brim of his hat down.
"Luffy, you can always tell me. I don't give a fuck if it ruins anyone's fun." Zoro said with a scowl.
That, somehow, got a chuckle out of Luffy as he peeked out from under his hat to look at Zoro with his big, dark eyes. Zoro never felt as wanted as he did looking into those eyes, "I want a hug, Zoro."
Zoro wedged himself into the corner next to his captain - not an easy task considering the tiny space Luffy had gotten himself into - and held his arms out. Luffy slung his legs over Zoro's thighs and hooked his arms around his shoulders, until they were pressed together like the sections in the yin yang symbol.
As Luffy clung to him, Zoro sighed and buried his face in Luffy's neck. His skin smelt of salt and sweat, smoke and spices from the market they had walked through.
"I'm sorry." Zoro mumbled, "Do you want to ship out and leave again?"
"Nah, it's okay. He would've liked this."
When Luffy started to softly cry again, Zoro leaned forward and kissed the tears from his cheeks.
Maybe he had scored low in observation that day, but hopefully made up for it in hugs.

In the Heat of the Moment
Disclaimer: One Piece (and its characters) belongs to Eiichiro Oda-sensei.
Reminder: I have no beta-reader. Any grammatical and spelling errors are solely mine.
Warning: OOC possible. One shot.
Rating: T
Note: For Day 3—Nami’s Day—of the ZoNa Days event (at @zonamievents). I’m already late but still posting it. It’s unfair if it’s only Zoro who gets an entry.
In the Heat of the Moment is by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. I still have The Umbrella playlist to thank for being such a good company.
Summary: "You're getting sappy witch. Sounds like you care about me."
The rain hadn’t let up from the moment it began to pour down.
Which should not have been a problem in the first place… the Straw Hats have their very own weather expert-slash-navigator extraordinaire after all.
If only said weather expert-slash-navigator extraordinaire didn't get distracted, arguing with a certain green-haired swordsman.
"This is your fault!" Nami complained, rubbing her arms with her hands in a poor attempt to keep the emerging chill away.
Somehow satisfied, she folded her arms across her chest as she sulkily glared at the rain which has now completely turned into a steady downpour.
Luckily she was able to pull the man with her towards an alcove in the town's wall before they got drenched. It was an uncomfortable fit, as they were almost pressed to each other, but it'll do.
Zoro was snarling beside her. "This rain is MY fault?" He huffed. "Right! It's my fault coz I absolutely can make it rain on a whim!"
Nami turned sharply towards him, glaring daggers. "If you hadn't gotten lost—"
"I DON'T GET LOST!"
"—like the idiot that you are," she continued ignoring Zoro's outburst, deliberately raising her tone and effectively drowning his retort with her shrill voice. "Then we wouldn't be stuck in here ZORO!" Her voice jumped another octave when she said his name. "In. HERE!" She repeated the words, making sure to emphasize them and hoping to drill it straight into his thick, dumb skull.
"Tch! Then you shouldn't have followed me!" The former bounty hunter groused.
"Besides, aren't you supposed to be good at predicting the weather?" He commented sardonically. "Shouldn't you have known that it’s going to rain today?"
Nami gaped at him disbelievingly. And heat rose to her cheeks.
She gave his shin a good kick for that.
"Ite!"
"I know that!" Nami practically shrieked at him. "That's why I followed you here to tell you about it! Is this the thanks I get from making sure you don't get your dumb self lost in this island while a storm is brewing?!"
"Again woman, I DON'T GET LOST!" Not the one to be deterred, Zoro raised his own voice to match hers. "And damn it! Stop kicking me!"
"Bullshit!" The ever-feisty navigator exclaimed. "That a load of crap and you know it!"
She angrily poked his chest with her finger. "If I leave you to your own devices... We. Would. Never. Find. You!" She punctuated each word with a prod on his torso. As if that would actually make the idea sink unto him. "I don't want Luffy and Chopper whining about how you are lost and that we should find you!
Zoro grabbed her hand to stop her from poking a hole in him. Grasping it firmly he all but shouted back at her. "I will be fine! I will find my way back to the Sunny!"
“Hah! Fat chance of that happening!”
They were almost nose to nose by this time; all the while scowling at each other, both waiting for the other to back down.
Now only the sound of the rain falling heavily down the soaked earth can be heard as they continued their stare off. Along with the sharp intake of breaths coming from the two of them because honestly, their shouting matches can be quite arduous.
As the glowering continued; Zoro thought he caught a glint, a spark from behind Nami's eyes before those warm brown orbs widened.
In what could only be a realization that their current position is leaning towards… precarious. It was also not helping that his own eye had darted all over her face, taking in the flush on her cheeks. Despite it coming from indignation, she still looks...
 ... pretty.
He almost choked at his thoughts. When did he turn into that shit cook?
Zoro inhaled sharply and realized what a wrong move that was. He caught a whiff of Nami’s signature scent. Sweet with an undertone of zestiness that reminds him of her mikan fruits at their peak of ripeness—that certain moment that makes you want to steal one so you can taste them...
The color on her face deepened and Zoro wasn't sure if it was because she was getting angrier and angrier by the minute.
Or... If it was because she saw that his stare lingered for more than a second or two at her lips. "Screw this!" He grunted, instantly averting his gaze. He felt his face heating up and to get out of their rather 'awkward' situation, he immediately resorted to his favorite defense mechanism whenever he faces off against this orange-haired devil incarnate.
Losing his temper on her.
"You are not my keeper woman!" He snapped at her before immediately stepping out of their sanctuary and into the rain.
That made Nami snap to attention. "Hey!"
Without another word Zoro turn around and started walking away from her despite the torrential rain.
WALKING. AWAY. FROM. HER.
While it’s raining cats and dogs.
"Zorooo!!!" He heard Nami screeched his name, horrified that he would actually leave her alone. There was no way he was getting back in there with her. Not when it occurred to him that he was only a second away from grabbing her...
...and kissing her.
He walked in faster strides when she called him again. He had to get away from her. He needed to get away from her.
Far away.
Because honestly she was driving him crazy lately with all these thoughts of wanting to kiss her surfacing every moment whenever he was with her.
And who knows what the repercussions are? This is Nami they're talking about. She would probably sic ero-cook and even Luffy if he dared to even try. Or rat him out to either Robin or Usopp or both.
Or charge him more than what his current bounty is.
He winced at that.
For now he needed to get away and calm himself so he can reflect...
There was no warning as something collided at his back, almost making him stumble down the wet ground.
Did someone just attack him?
But the presence wasn't threatening, even if its arms were wrapped around his neck in a chokehold, throttling him.
"YOU DID NOT JUST LEAVE ME ALONE THERE RORONOA ZORO!" Nami deliberately yelled at his ear, probably making his ear drum shatter and rendering him forever deaf. In a split second the Supernova realized that Nami… had jumped him.
"Hey! Get off witch!"
"No!" "Get off!" "I said no!"
"Get off now or I'll--"
Her hold around his neck tightened. "Or you'll what?" Nami hissed right in his ear in a tone so dangerously low that an actual chill ran down Zoro's spine. He gave her arm a light slap, a silent gesture to loosen her hold because she was cutting off his air. When she didn't relent, he effortlessly bounced her up his back.
With a squeak of surprise, her arms slackened and he was able to finally draw in some air.
Nami’s hands grabbed at his shirt in an attempt to prevent herself from slipping from his back. Zoro tried to shake her off him. But the cat burglar swiftly clung onto him by locking her legs around his waist.
His remaining eye widened at that.
"Nami!"   "Stop trying to shake me off Zoro!" Nami protested as she held on to him tightly. Her knee knocked against his katanas and he scowled. "Then stop strangling me damn it!" "You deserve it you ass! Leaving me alone like that! Wait until the others hear about this you brute!" Zoro muttered an expletive under his breath. Nami is a real witch!
He can feel her sliding down his back again. She was having a hard time clinging onto him because his shirt and her arms and legs were all wet from the rain water.
"I'm charging you for all these Zoro!" She muttered against his ear, her breath hot against his skin… a stark contrast from the cold rain water falling down on them. "The hell you are!" He managed to retort. She was speaking from his blind side and even as he tilted his head, he cannot see her face or her expression.
The next thing he knew… her fist had descended on his head.
“The hell! Why did you hit me?!”
“Because you are a moron.”
“That’s it get off me!”
“No!!”
They continued struggling against each other, right in the middle of the rain that was soaking them to the bone.
And Zoro realized then and there that Nami was quite nimble. She had quickly managed to change her position from his back to his side with her legs still locked around him.
He really didn't know what to do with that information, except it's going to be really handy once he gets the chance to...
Fuck! She had hit him on the head with her fist again. That’s twice already.  Why are her punches hurting him so much? Was it clad in haki?? "Argh! Nami stop it!" He tilted his head towards her so he can growl and glare at her all at the same time.
She just gave him a haughty serves-you-right grin.
In retaliation he bounced her against him again.
Which was a wrong move. Because all it did was rubbed her breasts against him and press her closer to him.
It was a good thing the rain was drowning them.   Though it did made her yelp in surprise. He’s good with that.
"Argh! Stay still Zoro! I swear if you drop me down I'm going to—"
“To what?” His steely eye met hers. This time it was his turn to challenge her.
Nami’s hold around his neck tightened, probably because her grip on him was slipping again because she was just as wet as he is and also because she still wants to choke the shit out of him for leaving her alone earlier.
She lifted her chin slightly so she could gaze back at him even as the rain water continued trickling down her face.
Was it just him or Nami’s quite comfortable where she is right now?
He knew she was trying to give him the evil eye. But it was hard to do that when the droplets of rain keep clinging to her lashes and she had to blink them away in a manner that affects him greatly.
And there was it… that familiar glint, that spark he saw when they were back in the alcove taking shelter from this rain.
“Look Zoro,” she finally sighed. “I just wanted to make sure you will come back to the Sunny in one piece and not get stranded in this weather."
Zoro blinked. He was not expecting that.
Then his face broke into a smirk. "You're getting sappy witch. Sounds like you care about me."
“Y-y-ou!” She stammered.
He grinned at her as she sputtered, her face turn absolutely and adorably red.
To think, he actually high-tailed it out of there earlier with his tail between his legs all because he can't face the realization that he wanted this woman.
But there was no denying it now. Amidst this rain it was very clear. That was all he needed.
He finally decided to take a chance instead of running away from it like a coward.
He tucked a strand of her wet hair behind her ear. "You can punch me or charge me later Nami," was all he said before he pressed his lips on hers.
Her body jerked in surprised. His arm instantly wrapped around her waist to secure her as one of her hands grasp at his shirt tightly.
He swore he heard and felt her murmur 'oh fuck' against his lips before she deepened their kiss.
They pulled apart slightly for air. Zoro hauled her up a little and Nami was about to lean down to for another kiss…
“A-choo!”
They looked at each other in surprise. Nami’s hand automatically covered her mouth as her face turned red again… this time for a very different reason.
“Ehem!”
They both turn their heads towards the sound and saw an elderly man standing a few feet away from them under an umbrella.
He was shaking his head as he looked at them.
“You youngsters should just get a room you know. You risk getting sick doing things out here in the open that should be done privately.”

Just for a while
So I actually used this to get through my writer’s block and take a break from my other WIPs. Before I knew it, it was complete, so I figured I’d share it. It’s a bit drabble-ish and incredibly self-indulgent.
I tried to watch the film to get some of the scenes right, but then I kept getting swept away in the film, so there’s going to be to be differences. Then again, they weren’t a couple in the film, and I’ve added some scenes, so does it really matter?
Summary: Zoro was weak with children, Chopper was a prime example of that, and Nami was no exception. Film Z. Rating: T. Some suggestiveness.
This can also be found on AO3 and FFN.
Enjoy!
Zoro’s ears were ringing, screeching in protest at the loud noise from the blast, and his back hurt from being hurled across the ship. It was dull but it was there. But it reminded him that they weren’t in the clear yet and his reflexes were kicking in, grabbing for his swords, or at least trying to. His body was bound in thick green ropes that didn’t given an inch no matter how much he protested.
Smoke filled his nose, and he gave up on escaping for the time being to take in the view. It was hard to believe he’d managed to ignore it for this long. The ship was on fire, black smoke billowing from what seemed like every surface. The galley was gone, completely blown open and surrounded by flames licking their way further across the ship.
The scene was horrific. Sunny was in trouble.
It was hard to decide what to focus on first in all the chaos, but he quickly found something that made his stomach drop.
Luffy being crushed in a Z’s hand.
He looked weak and defeated, it was an awful look on him. Something that had Zoro wanting to grab for his swords to rectify the scene immediately.
Goddamn it. He needed out.
Like a dirty tissue, Luffy was thrown to the floor, apparently not worthy of being killed in a fight. Something Zoro knew would grate him, but at least there wasn’t an immediate threat of a dead Captain.
His gaze flitted quickly around to check everyone else was accounted for and somewhat okay. It stopped on what he presumed was Nami only a few feet in front of him. It looked like her, the orange hair a dead giveaway… but smaller. Much, much smaller. What the hell had been happening out here before? Frowning, he stored that thought away for later.
Shit. He needed to move. Now. He had to do something, they were in trouble and there he was just sitting around. Movement caught his eye and he saw the Cook also bound, struggling to be freed.
Shit, shit, shit.
Now it was really bad, all three of them were down.
Nami caught his struggling and ran over to him before he could call over to her. Her small hands were trying to pry the green vines away from him.
“Do I want to know why you’re a child?” His eyebrows were furrowed as he got a proper look at her. It was Nami alright.
“Not the time. Later,” she huffed, small hands gripping the vines and yanking on them, but they wouldn’t budge. She wasn’t strong enough right now.
And it wasn’t the time it seemed. Because the ship exploded around them as cannon balls relentlessly fired at them and it didn’t help Nami who was still attempting to free him. She was almost knocked off her feet when the ship was hit again and if she went overboard, no one would be there the dive after her. He was getting more and more frustrated by the second.
When he looked to his left, Chopper wasn’t getting much further with the cook.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Usopp, Franky and Brook were just as trapped as him.
And Luffy was furious. It was rare to see his Captain like that. He was back on his feet, quickly recovering, and hanging off the side of the ship, snarling at them to come back. Robin was doing her best to talk him down, but he wasn’t listening and Zoro could feel his already thin temper about to snap. At everything. It had all gone so wrong so quickly.
Him and the cook were useless.
Luffy couldn’t see past his own anger.
Nami was a child.
They’d lost.
But not everything.
Just as he was about to bark at Luffy to get his head on straight, Robin finally got through to him after another cannonball hit their ship and almost capsized them.
Luffy was in action then, freeing Franky, as Robin worked on securing herself and the others.
“Hold on,” Zoro commanded, now looking back down at Nami, who in all the chaos still hadn’t given up. Franky was just about to fire up a coupe de burst and the last thing he needed was her falling off the ship. Especially when he couldn’t go after her.
It didn’t take long for her to understand before she was nodding back and clinging to him as they sailed through the air away from the attack. He was too tied up to properly hold onto her, no matter how much he wanted to.
.
.
.
The mood was off when they landed on the first island available. Luffy’s face solemn as he stood with Franky assessing the damage to the ship. The rest of the crew left them, gathering instead across the water from the ship to discuss what had happened and what their next move was going to be.
He hadn’t been incredibly involved in the discussion; he’d been too focused on Nami. It was unsettling. She was still exactly the same, bold and bossy, but instead it was all packaged into a miniature body.
There was no way around it, she was cute, and it left him in a strange position. Normally he’d snark her, draw her into an argument, especially when she was somewhat upset, to take her mind off of it, but now he didn’t feel like he could. It was almost as bad as picking on Chopper.
Nami said something about being returned to normal, standing up outraged and he should have known that the moment the cook opened his mouth he would be annoyed.
Gritting his teeth, Zoro could feel his patience dangerously thinning. He was used to the idiot cook spouting off nonsense to Nami and that hadn’t changed when they had got together. Normally he’d just ignore it, it was hardly like he was a threat, and she could handle herself. But today already hadn’t been a good day and when the pervert started talking about her body, he was ready to fight.
Unable to resist, he uttered out an irritated, “Creep,” and that seemed to do it. The focus was on him then and Nami started to look comfortable again. As soon as the shoving starting, she was breaking them apart, just before a full-on brawl could start.
Disgruntled, Zoro looked across the waters to see Luffy peeling away from Franky with the old man and when they saw each other, Luffy nodded at him. That was his cue. Zoro stood and motioned with his head for them to start walking.
He slowed for a second, waiting for Nami to catch up before continuing forward. He was only a few strides in when he noticed she was struggling to keep up, stuck in a weird running walk pace. He laughed to himself, she was tiny now, her previously long legs were now replaced with stumps and she was too proud to say anything.
He had the urge to take her hand and the sudden thought surprised him. They’d never held hands before this, unless it was crowded or she was guiding him somewhere, they were fairly low key with their relationship unless alone. Yet the urge to do it was strong, and really, he knew why.
When she stumbled, he was bending down without a second thought to pick her up and her legs sitting around his waist on the side of his body. She weighed almost nothing, and, to his surprise, she didn’t resist. Which was fine, great even, because then he didn’t have to think about scrapped knees, but the cooing that started from behind them made the back of his neck feel hot. Zoro wasn’t sure if it was directed at him or Nami… or both of them. But that didn’t stop the red from spreading to his ears.
He had no idea what possessed him to do that, they weren’t very big on public displays of affection normally but Nami didn’t complain as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and determinedly looked everywhere but at his face.
Cute.
He was loath to admit it, lest he be compared to the pervert, but like this she was. He tried to shrug it off, ignoring the loud whispers from behind and act casual.
The next couple of days were going to be hard.
.
.
.
Zoro didn’t like it.
The older man that had been talking to Luffy and Franky had told them all about Z whilst giving them food and drinks. But that wasn’t the problem. They needed to gather more information about Z’s whereabouts, which again, wasn’t a problem but it had led to Nami announcing it would be down to her, Robin, Usopp and Chopper.
Apparently Zoro and the others were too obvious. Liabilities she’d called them. He wasn’t sure how that logic worked out, when they were going with a walking, talking reindeer that could changed forms at whim.
“I should go with you,” Zoro said, watching as Nami tied her sandal.
The group going out to get information already had their change of clothes and were getting changed in a secluded alleyway away from any nosey passers-by’s. She’d already changed into her dress and sandals, all that was left was her hair. They’d be going their separate ways after that.
Nami sighed, eyebrows furrowing as she looked up at him. “We’ve been over this, you’re too obvious.”
“And a talking reindeer and long nose isn’t?” It was a good point.
“Usopp’s great at sneaking and Chopper’s barely noticeable with how tiny he is now.”
“And if things go wrong?” He didn’t want to entertain that thought, but he still did. The island was swarming with marines.
“We have Robin and Usopp, it’s fine,” Nami assured. “Also, it won’t go wrong, I’m great at this.” She was trying to tie her hair into a ponytail but with how much hair she had and her little arms, she struggled.
He knew she was right; she was great at this. She did it long before he came around to back her up. Except she wasn’t herself right now, she was a miniature version of herself.
Zoro held his hand out, silently asking for the hair tie. “You’re not yourself right now.” He gathered her hair, his hands smoothed over her hair a few times to ensure no bumps, he didn’t need her nagging him, and looped the band around a few times.
She checked his work, hands roaming over her hair, searching for bumps that weren’t there before giving the ponytail a tug to tighten it. She didn’t praise him for his efforts, instead she dropped two golden bands in hands and turned to face him. That was his praise, he figured as he picked the bands to start working on the front.
Nami stood patiently in the gap between his legs as he worked. “And that’s exactly why we don’t need you and the others attracting attention.”
She had him there. Brook drew attention because, well, skeleton, that didn’t need to be explained. Zoro and Luffy were too well known, even without his swords and Luffy’s hat, but not so much Sanji…
“Take the cook then.” He was an idiot and had especially got on his nerves today, but he was strong and somewhat reliable.
“And at the first sight of a woman? We don’t have time to find him or reign him in.”
Screw that, he was good for nothing right now.
There was nothing more he could say. He didn’t mean to sound like he doubted his own crewmates, they were strong, and time and time again they’d proved that. But they weren’t their selves right now, they weren’t a whole. They had two much younger members than normal with an island full of marines.
Nami was a magnet for trouble at the best of times and the love cook was the least of his problems. It was common knowledge what could happen to children out in the new world. All it would take was one skilled person, or a moment of distraction and she’d be gone without a word.
The thought of that happening had a knot forming in his stomach and he was about to say that he was going whether they liked it or not, until Nami rested a small hand on his forearm and smiled up at him reassuringly. And like the sap that he was, he melted instantly, all the fight bleeding out of him.
He wasn’t sure if she knew of his weakness yet, but something told him she’d realise soon enough.
.
.
.
“Do you know how close we were to leaving you behind?” Nami berated, arms angrily crossed in front of her as she stood before him, not caring that the train was moving. Except her anger didn’t have the same effect as it usually did in her childlike form.
“You’ve said about five times already,” Zoro replied tiredly.
Their day had not improved at all. From the information group coming back with a hoard of marines on their tail, to Z shooting Luffy and the four of them almost being engulfed by lava whilst Nami and the others waited anxiously at the train station. Despite her anger now, when she’d seen them running towards the train, lava steadily overtaking the island just behind them, she’d looked relived.
He suspected Luffy still being passed out was to blame for her particularly sour mood, all the crew were worried in the packed train.
“Because you still don’t look like you get it.”
Naturally an angry child telling off an adult attracted attention, although Zoro didn’t really care about that, he just shrugged off the looks and focused on Nami. But when a man opposite from them gave her an appraising look that lingered far longer than acceptable, it put his back up. Zoro sent the man a scathing look that had him shrinking away as he scooped Nami onto his lap.
“I do. We made you worry,” he said, matter-of-factly, not taking his eye off the man until he got up to find somewhere else to sit.
The anger dispersed then, her frame relaxing on his lap as she got comfortable. “I’m going to go grey early; I swear.” She shook her head, but her tone was fonder than anything else.
They lulled into silence, swaying with the movements of the train, and letting the murmur from other passengers fill the quiet. Nami’s gaze slowly took in everyone, from strangers to the crew, one by one until it landed back on Zoro.
“It’s a shame you don’t dress like this more often,” Nami sighed, small hands playing with the collar of his neckline.
“Tch, not worth it. Too many layers.” He was already itching to take off the shirt. “Besides, I had a jacket on this morning.”
“Which is ruined now, do you know how hard it is to find a nice jacket that you’ll wear?”
“Because you insist that I wear a top underneath, pick either a top or a jacket, I’ll only wear one,” he told her, but the likelihood was he’d end up removing that too.
Whilst she was fussing over his jacket, trying to wipe some dirt off the fabric, her arm caught his attention. There were faint marks starting to bloom on her upper arm. He gently caught her arm and turned it to get a better look.
It was finger marks, four clustered together and a single one opposite.
Someone had grabbed her.
He’d guessed something had gone wrong earlier, based on the hoard of marines that had chased them all the way back to the rest of the crew, but he’d just thought a marine had finally recognised one of them. Not that she’d been grabbed and almost hauled way. It was exactly what he’d been worried about.
He looked at her sharply and she looked back at him warily.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt?” He’d focus on her first, he couldn’t exactly do anything with his anger when the person that’d hurt her was long gone.
“Don’t worry about it, I made it worse by resisting.” And Nami must have sensed it was the wrong thing to say because she quickly added, “I’m here, aren’t I?”
That didn’t help his anger, but she was right. She told him Robin came after her as soon as she’d seen, and it soothed him at least. Another example of how dependable his crewmates were.
He rubbed gently along her arm, smoothing over the marks and he wasn’t sure if it was for her benefit or his.
“You’ve been very affectionate,” she said observationally.
And there it was. His hand stuttered on her arm for a second before he caught himself and continued, trying not to react to what she’d said. It’d taken far longer than he’d thought for someone to say something, but there was nothing he could say in his defence and the last thing he was going to do was agree, so he stayed silent instead. Not that that would help him.
Nami smirked up at him as he refused to make eye contact or speak, but that didn’t stop her from continuing, “Who’d have believed the fearsome pirate hunter was soft around all children. I thought it was just Chopper.”
“I’m not, we’re together, it makes sense.” That probably didn’t sound appropriate to anyone eavesdropping, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.
“You don’t normally hold my hand or pick me up… And you’ve been much more obliging.”
“It was convenient. You’ve got stumpy legs and I’ve got places to be,” he easily lied.
She didn’t look convinced. “And now?”
He had nothing to say to that. He was the one that had dragged her onto his lap, his arms still firmly wrapped around her to ensure she didn’t fall if there was a sudden movement… and to let people know she wouldn’t be an easy grab. He tried not to think about what a sap he’d looked like since she’d been turned into a child, but his mind still unhelpfully played it on a reel. How he’d caved whenever she so much as looked at him, offered to do things for her without her having to nag him, didn’t argue with her.
How embarrassing. His ears burned.
“It’s cute that you tried to hide it.”
It was the glint in her eye that gave her away that made him realise.
“You knew?” He asked, but he already knew the answer.
“I had a hunch, I knew from the moment you first picked me up,” she smiled up at him evilly, all innocence gone from her face.
She was the devil. Mislabelled into an adorable, tiny package.
“It’s almost worth staying like this, you’re as easy as Sanji-kun,” she looked downright smug and there was no doubt in his mind that she was imagining having the both of them wrapped around her finger.
That had him gritting his teeth in disgust, to be compared to him. He was about to say something caustic, just to wipe that smug grin off her face, until her eyes turned large, and she looked up at him remorsefully, lip quivering.
She wasn’t sorry at all, he knew that, but those glossy eyes stopped the foul words in their tracks. He huffed, annoyed, and looked the other way as Nami laughed at him. But he didn’t remove her from his lap.
Robin gave him an amused look.
.
.
.
She found him in the crow’s nest late in the day, head popping up through the entrance and pulling herself up when she saw him.
“How’s Luffy?” He asked, as she walked towards him.
“Quiet, but he’ll be alright.”
The mood on board had been weird since they’d left Piriodo, everyone subdued, and it was mainly due to Luffy’s lack of cheerful energy. Everyone had pretty much kept to themselves since they set off. It’d be back to normal tomorrow, after everyone had slept it off.
She stood in front of him from where he was sat on the bench and he braced himself when he caught the look on her face. He didn’t like it.
“Am I still allowed to sit in your lap? Or was that offer only there when I was a child?” She teased, eyes dancing in amusement.
Yup. He knew it. He rolled his eye; he’d be putting up with those jabs for a while.
She took his silence and sour expression as affirmation to her first question, but instead of sitting on his lap like she had back on the train, she straddled his lap, a leg going either side.
It was a fitting example really, of the difference between her as a child and being back to her usual age. The occasional glimpses of innocence on her face as a child were long gone, along with the soft rounded features of youth that had turned him into a fool. In its place were sharper angles and cunning eyes that displayed a coquettish expression that had a very different effect on him- one that made his blood heat for her.
As adorable as she was as a child, he’d missed her. He’d missed this version. No matter how infuriating she could be.
“Happy to have me back?” She questioned, but her tone suggested she already knew the answer.
His arms settled dangerously low on her hips and his smirk was challenging as he replied, “Now I can argue with you and not feel bad.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that,” she said and laid on her best doe-eyed look. Her eyes shifted in an instant, from seductive to innocent, all glossy and defenceless, something that didn’t fit the current position they were currently in.
He’d never let her know that even as an adult, that look still had him. Perhaps in a different way now, but he’d keep it hidden through grimaces and sharp words, otherwise he’d never know peace again.
“You’ll have to try harder than that,” he snorted, hands pulling her body tighter against his and the time for bickering had come to an end.
Their kiss was easy, almost leisurely, as they basked in the feeling of each other’s lips, of being back to normal. Although it wasn’t something that stayed that way for long. Gradual pecks started to linger, searching for something more as lips slid against the others and closed mouths parted as hands moved with intent, to places far from innocent.
There was no rush, they had all evening without disruptions, so that was why he pulled away to say:
“Besides, I prefer this angry, nagging version.”
What he hadn’t missed was how strong her punches were.
-------------------------------------
I mean, jokes on Zoro, he’s always been wrapped around her finger. He just put up less of a fight when she’s small.
In case I go quiet again, I’ll leave you with this- I’ve been writing something that I’m very excited about and can’t wait for you all to see, but until then, enjoy this ZoNami crumb.
As always, forgive any errors.
Thanks for reading.

Zoro x reader! They've been traveling companions for a year before they met Luffy and became pirates, so they're close to each other. S/O fell in love with Zoro but he rejects her, so they stayed as close friends. Then, after 2 years passed, S/O is still friendly to him and the others but seemingly moved on while Zoro's love for her grow, and while he was still ambitious towards his dream, he felt so lonely as he watched S/O move on, even if she's happier than before.
Hello!! I’m so sorry for the late response!!
From the moment I read this request, I fell in love with it!! It took me a while to write it, but here it is!! Let’s go! (I slipped a bit of Law x Reader to add to the angst, I hope you don´t mind XD)

Unique Kind of Pain — Zoro x Reader / Law x Reader
Tumblr media
It didn’t matter how much time Zoro spent training, it never seemed to be enough. As soon as he got down from the crow's nest, and he saw you there, it instantly hurt. Almost as if someone poked his heart with a needle, it stung. Constantly. His decisions haunted him, and were slowly carving a whole in his chest.
The sight of you was unbearable. And it pained him. Seeing his best friend should not hurt this much. And yet, the weight of his mistakes seemed to follow you everywhere. Your smile, the warmth of your skin, the sound of your voice. Oh, the sound of your voice when you called his name.
“Zoro! Come see this! Look what Ussop did!”
That same gentle voice that had been calling his name for several years now. He remembered he sometimes found it annoying. The way your voice pronounced his name when you were angry. The concern, when he got injured. The annoyance when you got lost and were looking for him. Back then, he disliked the ways your voice called his name. But now, each and every single time you called his name felt like a cursed blessing.
He wiped his face with the towel, as sweat kept falling from the intense training. His heart shrunk at the sight of your smile, your eyes reflecting fascination at Ussop’s newest project.
“You’re amazing, Ussop”
“Thanks, [Name]!” Ussop giggled.
He could hardly concentrate on Ussop's new additions to his slingshot, as he was distracted by you. Your smile radiating fascination as it shone all the way into your eyes. The sweet smell of your hair that now haunted him in his sleep.
Over time, as his feelings for you grew and grew, things got worse. Little by little. It hurt. But it wasn't so bad. Not yet at least.
At least not until the whole Dressrosa chaos was over. In Punk Hazard, Zoro could tell Law was being particularly friendly towards you. But he could easily ignore that. God knows what happened in Dressrosa. For a fair amount of time, you stuck with him, fighting side by side. And suddenly, you were gone.
Back in the Sunny after whatever shit show Fujitora tried to pull before you left. Everyone was on the ship and it was only you who was missing. Zoro's heart was in his throat, wondering if you were alive.
A series of conflicting feelings overwhelmed him at once when you ran across the deck and jumped into the ship. A cheeky laugh escaped your breathless lips as you apologized to your crewmates. As your eyes scanned the Sunny, they stopped when you saw Trafalgar Law, rather weak, sitting on the grass.
"Law!" You sprinted one last time towards him.
Falling in your knees as you slid a few feet, colliding with the doctor and wrapping your arms around Law.
"Oh god, you're fine!" You said breaking the hug and looking at him. "Your arm! You got it back"
"Yeah. I was not going to lose my arm. Fuck that" He chuckled "You dissapeared, I was worried"
"I went looking for Luffy...sorry"
"It's okay, you're fine and you're here" One of his long hands brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, lingering on your cheek as you leaned into his touch, looking into his grey eyes.
The whole scene, while for most of the strawhats looked rather adorable, for Zoro ir was unbearable.
A sting pinching his heart, as well as an uncomfortable twist of his guts suddenly angered him. Not angry at Traffy. Zoro knew it was childish to get angry at him. He was angry at himself for digging his own grave like this. He wished he was the one in your arms, and not Law. He wished he had corresponded to your feelings back then.
Without saying much, he turned around and left. Drowning himself in yet another intense training. Probably more intense than before. His mind constantly picturing you in Law's arm, his imagination torturing him, playing him. Picturing you kissing him, clinging to him, as his hands roamed your body, whispering sweet nothings back and forth in each other's ears as you were both consumed by desire.
The sweat puddling on the floor didn't seem to be enough. The strain in his muscles and the fatigue weren't enough to stop his head from wildly betraying him.
"Oi! Zoro!" Franky called, cheerfully climbing the ladder to the crowsnest. "Robin says dinner is ready! Since sanji isn't here, she cooked for us tonight"
TFrabky's fatherly instincts needed a single glance at Zoro to notice he was pushing himself way too much.
"Zoro? Aren't you overworking yourself?"
"I'm fine," Zoro grunted, doing another sit up with a bar and weights on his shoulders.
"No you're not!" The cyborg hurried to his side. "Stop that, if you injure yourself, Chopper not only will get mad, but you won't be able to work out for a while!" He begged as Zoro growled lowly and put the weight on the floor before sitting down on the ground "Don't you feel like everything hurts?"
"That's precisely the problem"  Zoro whispered to himself, however Franky managed to listen clearly as day.
"What?"
"Nothing" Zoro answered.
"Do you feel alright?" The swordsman looked at Franky, noting Franky was being insistent.
"Yeah. C'mon. Let's go" Zoro shrugged.
"Zoro, don't lie to me. I know something's bothering you" Franky said louder than before.
"It's nothin'"
"Its [Name], isn't it?"
Zoro stopped dead cold at the entrance of the crowsnest. He glanced at Franky over his shoulder.
"I noticed the way you were looking at her when she ran to hug Law" Franky said. "If you like her why don't you tell her?"
"I can't"
"Of course you can! Aren't you guys best friends?" Zoro glared at Franky, feeling somewhat annoyed, and also desperate.
"It's more complicated than that"
"Talk to me, kid" Franky said, resting one of his huge hands on Zoro's shoulder.
He took a deep breath, thinking. He'd never talked to anyone about it. When you confessed your feelings for him back in Thriller Bark. He wanted to keep it a secret, but his body urged him to let all those intrusive thoughts out. Maybe talking to someone would help him soothe his nerves instead of intensively working out.
"After dinner," Zoro said.
He wanted to buy some time, maybe put his thoughts in order before talking to Franky.
Strangely enough, what normally felt like a blink of an eye,the usual chaotic dinner scene now seemed to go by in slow motion.
On one hand, his thoughts seemed to float around the room, shapelessly, and without an order. His mind was a total mess. Ten times more chaotic than the traditionally loud strawhat mealtime.
On the other, your flirty playful game with Law. You were talking to him, not really minding the other conversations taking place in the kitchen.  His arm was around your shoulders as the both of you were deep in your conversation. Zoro could tell how your "mindless" playing with his hand wasn't so mindless.
After dinner, Zoro politely waited for Franky to be done and the both of them left the kitchen without saying much.
Zoro told Franky the whole story. Normally, he'd like to go straight to the point and keep the details to himself. But talking to someone about it, felt so liberating, all of his thoughts left his lips without second thoughts.
Franky listened. Carefully. And very rarely interrupted Zoro to ask something. In the end, he remained silent for a few moments, letting all the information sink in and drawing conclusions.
"I still think you should talk to her. Maybe she'll get mad, considering the circumstances. But she still deserves to know. Especially because it's bothering you this much" He began "Even if she gets mad, she's your friend. I've seen you guys fight and yell at each other, and half an hour later, see you guys laughing as if nothing happened"
"I don't know…" The swordsman whispered
"Think about it…"
Zoro sighed loudly, looking at the moon shining bright close to the sea.
A set of silhouettes left the kitchen into the deck. Not noticing Zoro and Franky, Law and you made it to the edge, looking at the moon and the stars.
Zoro watched, silently, feeling his burdens weigh on his shoulders heavier than all of the weights up in the crowsnest.
It didn't take long for Law to place a hand on your waist, as you spun on your toes looking at him. Unable to hear what you were saying back and forth, Zoro could tell where this whole scene was going to end up.
It didn't take long for you to stand on the tip of your toes, and for Law to leane down. Any trace of space was gone. The both of you trapped in a kiss Zoro craved.
He felt nauseous and light on his feet. He turned around, unable to keep watching as you wrapped your arms around Law's shoulders.
"I'm sorry, Zoro" Franky whispered upon   witnessing the scene.
"I am too…" Zoro said defeated. "I'll talk to her tomorrow, I'm off to bed now".
"Goodnight, kid," Franky said looking at Zoro as he silently made his way through the deck to the guys' room.
"Night, Franky" He whispered, not helping but peek once more, as Law had you in his arms, kissing you passionately.
It hurt. It hurt as bad as it hurt when he realized he had feelings for you. And hurt like the pain your eyes reflected when you confessed to him back in the day. It hurt like the realization that you had moved on whereas he had fallen for you. And boy, what a unique kind of pain that was.

Broken Wings
By all rights, the scars shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Ace x Marco
By all rights, the scars shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Ace x Marco
Ace first noticed the mark before he was Whitebeard’s son. Or, more accurately, before he knew he was one of his sons. Back when everyone who was not named Portgas D. Ace had already accepted that he was a part of the family, and was just being difficult at this point.
Ace had a lot of hiding places on the ship. He’d found at least a dozen in the week he’d been their captive, small slates that could be safely removed and revealed enough space for a young man to squeeze in, storage rooms that were barely used, and one particular closet that housed the spare sails. He could hide away all day, until his stomach demanded that he steal food or he had a new plan to try and take the old man’s head.
Frustratingly, no matter where he went, Marco could always find him. Was he a phoenix or a freaking bloodhound?
Ace had hoped that his latest hiding place would remedy that.
After all, who would look in their own window seat for a captive?
Ace muffled a snicker at his own cleverness and settled against the wood, safe behind the curtains that Marco kept drawn. Ace wasn’t sure why Marco had the box with the window in it, which gave the best view of the seas. The window’s even had a latch, unlike anything Ace had seen on a ship before. Most rooms only had a porthole, if that, and they definitely didn’t open.
The young man was very smug, settled in and waiting. Let Marco find him now!
Ace woke up from that thought sometimes around sunset, the narcoleptic attack ending as quick as it came. He looked out, watching the sun burn across the horizon as it sank into the waves. Orange melted down in the water, molten fire. Ace breathed in the dying warmth, drawing it into his veins.
The door opened with a soft clock, so minute Ace almost missed it. He stiffened, barely daring breath. Had Marco found him?
Even if he had, it wasn’t like Ace had gone snooping through his things. He’d just sat himself in the window and taken an unwilling nap. He hadn’t gone through the carefully stacked manila folders, or pulled open the drawers in the desk. He hadn’t gone riffling through the closet, or even touched his sheets.
Ace waited a few minutes before he carefully parted the curtains, just enough to peak out.
Marco was facing away from him, dropping his lilac shirt into a hamper. He reached for the blue one he had already laid out, stretching the scar on his back.
It was bad, ugly, stretching from beneath the sash at his hips up to his shoulder blades and back. The cut that had made it was too jagged for it to have been done cleanly, or with any skill, and it was clearly done with the intent to hurt, mock.
Ace pulled his face back, suddenly sick with the feeling of intruding. He waited until Marco had left the room to sneak out, running off to hide somewhere else. He didn’t go back to the window box. He had already seen more than he was meant to.
~                                                 ~                                ~
The second time Ace saw it was at an onsen on a winter island that was under their protection. They had gone to celebrate Ace finally becoming Whitebeard’s son. It was a lavish affair, and after the party wound down everyone parted ways. Some went back to the ship, some went to see what the local girls thought of pirate boys. Ace decided to try the water out.
Now, he may not have always been the most strategic of thinkers, but Ace was, by no means, stupid. Impulsive, reckless, bullheaded even, but not stupid. So when he decided he wanted to soak in the hot water, he grabbed the nearest person to him, who happened to be Marco, and declared,
“Take a bath with me.”
To which he received a slightly more open eyed stare than usual. Marco went back to his sleepy expression a second later.
“No,” he said blandly. Ace frowned, about to argue, when he remembered the macabre decoration carved into his new brother’s back.
“Then watch me take one,” he countered instead. Marco stared at him again, until Ace realized his mistake. Face heating, he smacked the bird. “Not like that! If I fall asleep in the water, I’ll drown.”
“Then stay out of the water, yoi,” Marco reasoned. He hadn’t even flinched for Ace’s blow.
Ace made a face at the older pirate, face scrunched up like a bulldog trying to get a biscuit.
Marco snorted at him and the lines of his face eased into a softness that made Ace’s stomach curl delightfully around itself. He swallowed back a lump trying to form in his throat, eyes wider.
“Alright, alright,” Marco waved his hand. “I’ll make sure you don’t drown.”
Ace positively beamed at him. He threw an arm around his brother, dragging the taller man into him. To his credit Marco didn’t stumble, just leaned down at little to make up for the different in their height.
“You’re the best!” he told the phoenix, handing him the praise a few inches from his face. Marco, lackadaisy as ever, poked Ace’s hat a few inches higher.
“Just start walking, yoi.”
Ace did, his arm migrating from being looped around Marco’s neck to his arm. If Marco thought anything about how childish Ace was, he didn’t mention it.
Both of them had a room to themselves, but Ace went to his for the sake of actually knowing where that was. The rooms were already impressive enough, especially to someone who’d grown up the way Ace had, but more than the wide space or the fine paintings on the wall, more than the well stuffed cushions around the small table or the silk sheets over the mats, the baths were grand.
A hot spring, each expensive suite accompanied by one, bubble up from the ground with water that bordered on scalding. Rich minerals rolled through the stone with the water that filled the bath, big enough to hold five men, let alone two. A tree swung it’s low branches down near the water, causing ripples where it brushed. The whole thing was bordered with a powdery snow fall that hadn’t quite melted yet.
Ace stripped, shameless in front of another man, and tossed his clothes carelessly into the corner before he slipped into the water.
On anyone else it would have been too hot to simply jump into. For a man made out of fire, it was just warm enough to sink into his skin and feel pleasantly warm.
A soft, contented sigh escaped him. He hadn’t realized until then the kind of pressure he’d been under, constantly anxious, waiting for someone to get sick of him and attack. Constantly weary of where he was, who was around and what was in his food. Always truing to come up with a way to kill Whitebeard, even surrounded by a ship of people who kill and die for him.
Ace’s head lolled back. His chest caved in with the built up stress finally being released.
Long fingers slid into his hair, drawing dark eyes open to look up at Marco’s droopy eyed stare. A small tug and a soft ‘thump’ sounded behind his head.
“You still have your hat on,” he explained. Ace hummed and leaned into the fingers. It felt nice, being touched like that. Luffy had been all about physical contact, but there was something different between his little brother clinging to him at every opportunity and Marco taking the time to make sure he didn’t hurt his most valuable possession, some foreign in the gentle way his fingertips touched Ace’s scalp.
“Thanks,” he remembered his manners, at least. When Marco’s touched wandered from his head to his shoulders, to one of the arms Ace had stretched out on either side of him, he did nothing to stop it. Not even when his fingers found the familiar crossbones over the extra letter in his name.
Ace looked at Marco’s face, waiting for the inevitable question. A question that never came.
Marco pulled his hand back to himself, to Ace’s disappointment. On impulse, Ace grabbed it before it was out of reach.
Marco glanced at him.
“Yes? He prompted.
Ace paused. He hadn’t thought that far ahead.
“Are you sure you don’t want in?” he asked again, fully expecting denial.
When Marco sighed and pulled his hand back to take off his shirt, Ace was stunned. He hadn’t actually expected for Marco to join him, but here he was, stripping down. Ace would be lying of he said he didn’t watch him, letting his eyes wander down the man's legs, up over his chest, and higher until he met a smug smile and dark eyes.
Ace’s face heated quickly and he looked away, sinking down in the water. Shit.
“Like what you see?” Marco teased, easing himself in across from Ace. The younger man didn’t miss the way he kept his back to him.
“Eat me,” Ace replied, eloquence personified.
Marco snorted and sunk in to his shoulders, tilting his head back and letting out a groan that had to be intentional. Ace decided then that Marco was a dick.
“I didn’t say it before, yoi,” Marco said some minute later, “But welcome home, brother. We’re glad you found us.”
Ace flushed warmly, a goofy smile spreading across his face. That same warmth curled in his stomach once more, Marco met his smile with a half one of his own.
“I’m glad I didn’t get a lucky shot in and kill the old- and kill Pops,” he tested the word, rolling it around in his mouth. His father. Ace hadn’t known how much he needed one until he had one, and now he didn’t think he could ever let go of the feeling of being someone’s son. Someone other that him.
Marco laughed, long and hard. Ace’s face only got hotter.
“You were never going to kill him, you know,” he said, without the mocking bite that Ace expected for trying to murder the strongest man in the world, on at least twenty seven different occasions. He sighed heavily.
“I do now!” Ace tilted his head back against the stone, slightly cooler than the water, and closed his eyes.
He woke up when he found himself being jostled, picked up out of the water and slung over Marco’s shoulder like he weighed nothing at all.
Dark eyes blinked a few times before they focussed on his butt, then quickly migrated to the scars mutilating his back. Ace swallowed a sudden wave of nausea and anger. They were even worse close up, horribly detailed in their depiction. It made his stomach roil with the desire to burn whoever had done it to ashes.
He pressed his face into Marco’s back, so he wouldn’t have to see, and wrapped his arms around his chest and an awkward hug. It drew a soft laugh from the man carrying him.
“Go back to sleep,” he advised for the first time, “I won’t let you drown.”
Ace had no doubt about that. He obeyed and closed his eyes.
~                                           ~                                       ~
Ace saw it again weeks later, though he didn’t ask about it.
When he ran his hands down Marco’s ribs and lay his lips across his chest, Marco let him push the shirt off. The fire in his veins roared to life and he tumbled into the bed, letting Marco roll them until he was hovering above Ace, kissing his hard. Ace thought he could drown like that, kissing Marco, grasping at his shoulders, sinking his nails into his arms.
They tumbled, pressed against each other, kicking up a ruckus that settled more than a few bets.
Ace found himself laid out of his back, grinning like mad at the ceiling. His head was hazy, his skin was steadily cooling even as Marco ran his palm across Ace’s stomach, reaching a small scar that slid between his ribs, barely an inch across.
Ace didn’t have to look to know the one his fingers had paused on.
“They took me by surprise, before I ate the fruit,” he said without prompting. “Probably the closest I’ve ever come to dying. And it’s tiny!”
“Right into your lung,” Marco agreed. His fingers moved on, to a slightly larger mark, much more faded, on his chest. He tapped it, drumming his fingers over the three slashes. “Feline?”
“Giant tiger,” Ace confirmed. “I was like, eleven? It looked smaller from in the tree…”
Marco laughed at him and leaned down to look him in the eyes. “How don’t you have more scars?”
“Luck? Stubbornness? I don’t have your healing factor,” he elbowed Marco playfully. Still, Marco had scars of his own. Worse than any of the ones Ace had ever seen before, and he’d seen some shit.
His thoughts must have showed on his face for some of the calm bliss Marco had been exuding dissipated. His smile faded, his sleepy eyes dimmed and he rolled, snatching his shirt off of the floor. Ace watched him, letting the horrible image on Marco’s back burn into his retina.
Ace could still picture it even after he’d dressed and walked out the door.
~                                             ~                                              ~
The fourth time, Ace couldn’t help it.
Marco had, for once, slept in. Ace had volunteered to go get him. He didn’t see anything wrong with it. He even knocked, softly, before he poked his head inside. There wasn’t much room for shame on a pirate ship. So Ace walked in, paused at the doorway, and stared.
Marco had fallen face first onto his bed and was out cold, his shoulders moving steadily with each breath. Up, down, up, down. His lilac shirt lay crumpled under his arms, his pants hung uselessly over the edge of the bed, leaving him in nothing save his boxers.
Green, Ace noted idly as he approached on soft feet.
He stood at Marco’s side, looking down his long body. As strong as he was, the man was light enough for most of them to lift with one hand. A side effect of being part bird, Ace figured.
The scars stretched across his back, before Ace’s eyes. It made him sick. His fingers itched, drawing to lay feather-light across the horrible fresco painted into Marco’s skin. He followed the curve that wrapped across his shoulder blades, down his ribs, to his lower back.
“Who hurt you?” he breath the question to the air.
“I haven’t always been Whitebeards son, you know.”
Ace snatched his hand back like he’d been burned, head snapping down to look at Marco’s face. Even though his smile was amused it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“You’re awake,” he wanted to smack himself for such a stupid statement. Marco just smiled at him, indulgent.
“Hand me my pants,” he pointed, “And I’ll tell you a story.”
Ace grabbed them and handed them over, stomach clenching in a way that nothing to do with the way the ocean rolled under their feet. Marco sat up and pulled his pants on, threading his favorite sash through them when Ace gave it over without needing to be asked.
“You don’t have to tell me anything,” Ace warned him.
“I know,” Marco assured. He didn’t reach for his shirt quite yet. Ace watched his face, not his back or his shoulders. Focused on the lines of his face instead of the marring on his back.
Ace waited in silence for Marco to do on. When he did, it was a credit to his skills that he sounded exactly the same way he always did. Unbothered by anything.
“Not all pirate’s work the way we do. Not all crews are a family, or even a group of friends. Some of them are cobbled together by desperate people, or bound as one by force and fear,” Marco looked at the window, not at Ace. “We were formed before Gol D. Roger started this age of piracy. It was a dark time, for the world and for me. The captain found use for me, for my abilities and my adaptation. I made a good shield in a fight, and I was too young to understand what he was doing to be wrong. What boy wouldn’t do anything to protect their ‘father’?”
Ace swallowed a lump in his throat. He didn’t dare say anything.
“Someone shot through me once, though, and hit him in the leg. He found a fitting punishment. He made sure I couldn’t forget my failure. If I didn’t know what seastone did before, I certainly did after.”
“Marco…” Ace didn’t know what to say. So he kissed him, long a slow. Trying to explain what he didn’t have the words to say. That his father was a piece of shit. That that wasn’t his father, Whitebeard was. That Ace was glad he was here and would fight anyone who tried to hurt him again.
Marco kissed him back, smiling against his lips. Ace wrapped his arms around him, pulling him close. He let his hands slide up, across the mangled skin. A heat burned in his chest, fury at the man who had done that, love for the man it was laid upon.
Ace let Marco push him back onto the bed, fingers ghosting across his back. A fire ignited around them, blue and red warring as the two pirates grasped at each other desperately, feelings burning into skin.
As blue flames wrapped around him, Ace chased away the memory of the wings on Marco’s back.
He let himself be consumed by the fire.

asl + beetle
“Ooooh, a beetle!”
“Wait, Luffy, we-!” Ace sighs as Luffy ignores him and runs off in the direction of the beetle. Sabo laughs beside him, and Ace shoots him a look.
“You know, it’s gonna suck if we can’t get food before sundown,” Ace warns, glancing at the setting sun. They probably have about a half-hour left of full light, and hunting after sundown is much harder than if they have the light on their side.
Sabo scoffs out a laugh, saying, “Ace, relax. Luffy’s having fun.” Ace scowls, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting. Yeah, he knows Luffy is having fun, but they have stuff to do! Sabo, noticing his mulish look, sighs and says, “We still have time, Ace. Don’t worry about it.”
Ace sighs, “Yeah, I guess so.”
“Plus,” Sabo adds with a small smile, “isn’t it nice seeing Luffy so happy?” He gestures over to where Luffy is crouching, playing with two stag beetles with a bright smile on his face. Ace finds himself unconsciously mirroring Sabo’s soft smile, and Sabo laughs at his victory.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Ace admits, dropping his arms and leaning against a nearby tree. His little brother is always somewhat happy, laughing and joyful throughout all their activities, but it still brightens Ace’s day to see him so genuinely gleeful.
(When Luffy’s like this, it’s easy to forget what it was like to be lonely, and forgotten, and cold. He had Sabo, he knows, but it wasn’t the same type of companionship. Sabo has been jaded from the beginning, having to hide his true feelings from his parents originally. He never lost that caution.
Luffy, on the other hand, doesn’t know what it’s like to not be joyful; to have fun with every single thing he does. Ace knows he’s had struggles, but it’s hard to tell, with the ever-present laugh and smile covering his face. His bright personality makes it hard for Ace to feel the loneliness and darkness that had been the only thing he could feel for most of his life.
He makes Ace’s life brighter; happier than it has ever been before.)
He jerks himself from his thoughts as he notices Sabo staring at him contemplatively. He is about to snap at him about why Sabo’s staring at him, but then Sabo gets a mischievous look, and Ace suddenly realizes that he must have been staring at Luffy with a really soft look.
“Hey, Luffy!” Sabo calls out, and Ace has the sudden urge to shut his brother up. He desperately reaches to cover Sabo’s mouth, but doesn’t manage to do so before Sabo gets out, “I think Ace could use a hug!”
Luffy immediately jerks his head over, and you could sooner divert a river from its course than divert Luffy once he has any inkling a hug will be accepted. Luffy stretches his arms over and grabs Ace, and Ace yelps as he is dragged into one of Luffy’s multi-wrap around hugs.
Ignoring the warmth blooming in his chest, Ace fights against the hug. Luffy doesn’t give in, though, (Ace wonders, how is Luffy so strong now but so weak when we fight?) clinging onto Ace with a passion. Ace accepts his destiny, sighing and hugging his little brother back. An idea occurs to Ace, and he smirks as he whispers, “Hey, Luffy, I bet Sabo’s feeling awfully lonely right about now.”
Luffy gasps as if that’s the worst thing that could happen (which, for him, it is), and immediately stretches an arm out to Sabo, drawing him in. Sabo yelps but accepts his fate much faster than Ace did, laughing and wrapping an arm around both of them.
Ace struggles to hold his scowl on his face, and at the sound of Luffy’s joyful laughter, gives up the ghost and lets a true smile bloom on his face.
“I’m so glad we’re brothers,” he mumbles into Luffy’s shoulder unconsciously, and blushes as Luffy grins before exclaiming how happy he is. Sabo smiles softly and agrees, and Ace smiles even wider, burying his face in his brothers’ shoulders.
He still can’t believe he has this – has brothers that accept him, love him, for who he is.
He’s never going to let them go.

crown the king (with bloody flowers) - 13
Hanahaki au drabble series, in which Luffy is in love with the sea. Ao3 Links in reblog
chapter 13 - cranberry flowers - law
Law had performed the procedure before, mostly on unwilling victims. It was relatively easy - remove the plants from the lungs and the tendrils of vines that creeped through the blood, then - only capable with the Ope-Ope Fruit, remove what counted as ‘love’ in the human body - or non-human body. It isn’t a visible thing, that last one, but it is part of the powers Law possesses.
Side effects include losing all ability to love, and in some cases, feel emotion.
Now, looking at Monkey D. Luffy, laying down and bleeding out on his Operating Table, Law debates doing the procedure. Straw Hat wouldn’t care, afterwards, any love he had for whatever it was shriveling up, but…
(Law remembers.
Law remembers the way Straw Hat punched a man in a god’s robes and spit up blood on the white fabric afterwards. Remembers the way he did not care, even as he stumbled fighting with Law and Eustass. Remembers the way Straw Hat looked to the sea and didn’t look back, and remembers how tiny Straw Hat is, small and fourteen, the youngest Supernova - and pirate captain, really - by far.)
Straw Hat set sail for a reason.
Law removes the flowers - a brief respite for the young captain, easier to operate with out them for Law - and leaves Luffy’s love alone.
Jimbe shakes him, afterwards, when Straw Hat is unconscious by Jimbe’s side and his breath lets little petals escape.
“Why didn’t you,” Iimbe asks, pained, red on his fingertips from Straw Hat’s wounds. “Why didn’t you save him?”
Law smirks. “I did.”
Jimbe growls. “You know what I mean.”
He hums then, twisting Kikoku in his grasp. “We’re pirates, Jimbe. We love the sea, no matter who we are. If we don’t… if we don’t feel emotion, like joy, or anger, or victory or grief… If we don’t love, then why do we set sail?”
If pirates didn’t love - love the sea, love their dream, love their crew - then why were they pirates?
Jimbe doesn’t get it, but with the way Straw Hat grips his robe even unconscious, he will soon.
At Amazon Lily, Straw Hat does not ask Law to remove the pain - to remove the love he feels for his brother that tears at him -
(It wasn’t suppose to be him-)
Or to remove Straw Hat’s love for the ocean, the sea.
Instead, he clings tighter to the unbridled affection in his chest and coughs up bouquets and cranberry flowers and wreaths of roses.
Law clears Straw Hat’s body of flowers once more and leaves Amazon Lily, a smirk lacing his lips as even now, he watches Straw Hat draw nearer and nearer to the water.
(After all - he understands dying for those you loved.)

cranberry flowers - hardiness, cure for heartache, often associated with good health

Hey! If you're still taking prompts, something involving the ASL brothers and maybe the Whitebeard Pirates? Love your writing!
“I do not,” Marco says darkly, “appreciate this.”
“It’ll be fine,” Ace says and leans over the rail to wave. “Hey! Shanks! Hey!
There’s a cheer from the other ship and Marco makes a noise low in his throat and grabs at Ace’s shoulder before he can tip himself overboard. “Okay, okay, they’re coming, yoi. No need to get them here sooner.”
Ace, of course, ignores him to keep waving, so Marco sighs, takes a step back, and lets Ace do as he will. He’s got other idiots to check on.
His first stop is Haruta, because Haruta is always either in trouble or about to be, and that’s a recipe for disaster today. Only Haruta’s not in the Command Center.
Or belowdecks. Or anywhere at all.
He stops, back on the main deck, and looks around until he finds a member of Haruta’s division. It doesn’t take long; they’re always around when there’s outsiders on the ship. “Hey,” he says, snagging the sleeve of a brother he knows by sight but not by name. “Where’s Haruta?”
The crewman sighs and points upwards, then keeps going.
Marco steps back, squints up, and then takes a few more steps back. He gives himself a running start, jumps, and is aloft on his own updraft a second later.
Sure enough, he can see Haruta’s head, leaning close to two other be-hatted individuals. He doesn’t bother to try to sneak up on them; phoenixes have many advantages and none of them are stealth.
By the time he perches on the rail of the lookout, all three of them are looking back. “No,” Haruta says, waving a hand at him. “Shoo, go away. We’re talking shop.”
That does not actually make him feel better about...anything. He shuffles to the side, mantles his wings again, and tilts his head to get a better look at the other two. The near one is the girl, the one who’s visiting, which must make the other one Ace’s brother.
Haruta points at him. “I mean it. Do not ruin this for me.”
“Brothers, right?” the guy says and sighs in a very overdone, very dramatic way. Marco thinks about pecking him, but the girl gets there first.
“Like you’re not just as bad,” she tells him, then turns to Marco. “Marco the Phoenix, I presume? It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m a big fan of your work; what you did on Sybatica was amazing.”
“I didn’t hear about Sybatica,” Ace’s brother says, frowning.
Marco shuffles again; he hadn’t thought anyone had heard of that mess either.
“Exactly,” she says primly. “Commander Marco knows the meaning of subtlety.”
He can’t help it; his feathers fluff up a bit and his head raises. He makes a low croon in her direction.
“The set-up was really elegant, and that exit--a work of art, truly.”
“Wait, what happened on Sybatica?” the guy asks.
Marco dips his head towards her, and she grins back at him. “And your plumage is very lovely,” she says obligingly. He bobs his head and straightens on the rail again. His bird form is, in fact, very lovely.
“Okay, okay, your ego has been stroked, now get out of here,” Haruta says. “Seriously. We’re comparing notes; do you really--”
He has seen Haruta’s notes and he really does not. He flaps a bit, recenters himself, and takes off, circling high and checking the deck over.
In the short time he’s been gone, Ace has decided his best course of action is to take a running leap across a wide expanse of ocean towards the Red Force’s Ship. Marco sees him just as he’s touching down and refuses to have a heart attack. He refuses.
“Marco!” someone shrieks and Marco’s already banking towards it when Thatch yells again. “Marco! Marco! I need some help here!”
There’s a kid clinging to his leg, no matter how hard he shakes it, but he’s not bleeding or armed, so it can’t be that bad. He gentles his descent and hits half-human a few feet up, touching down on just-formed feet and letting his wings go last.
“Uahhhh!!!” the kid says and detaches himself from Thatch’s leg. “Hey! Hey! Birdman! Man bird! Hello!”
Marco takes a half-step back in the face of that much enthusiasm. “Uh,” he says, and glances at Thatch. “Hello?”
Thatch makes panicked hand flapping gestures and immediately flees. “Hey, is your fire hot? Can you cook things? Do you poop?”
“I--”
“Are you a mystery bird?”
“No, I’m a phoenix--”
“What’s a feenis?”
“It’s, uh--”
“It’s a mystery bird, Luff,” Ace says, and Marco is so grateful for the save he doesn’t even question how Ace got back on board. “Hey, c’mon! Shanks is over here too!”
“Shanks!” the terror yells, glomming onto Ace, who grins down at him. “Hey Sabo! Saaaabo!”
The guy in the lookout pokes his head out. “What?”
“Shanks is here!” Luffy says, bouncing. Then he reaches up--and keeps reaching up, all the way to the lookout. His fingers grab onto the railing and Luffy goes shooting up.
“C’mon down!” Ace hollers up at the both of them. “C’mon! You’ve gotta thank Shanks too, Sabo!”
There’s a faint but menacing skirl of laughter coming from the lookout and Marco takes a large step backwards.
The motion draws Ace’s eye and Marco freezes in place. “Hey!” Ace says cheerfully, grinning like everything’s normal, the liar. “Wanna come see Shanks with us?”
Hands come flying down from above, and Ace’s little brother slingshots into his arms, laughing as he goes. Ace takes a sidestep to brace but otherwise doesn’t seem to notice. He’s still waiting for an answer. “You coming?”
“Absolutely not,” Marco says. Ace’s brothers are similar but worse, and he wants no part of any of this. He turns on his heel and like Thatch before him, flees immediately with reckless abandon.
