One Piece LA Season 2
That’s…very good news.
I'm just a bit worried about ZoNa. The fact that it got quite an attention that the producers had to talk about it. I hope they won't do something forced/tone it down. I read somewhere that pre-timeskip ZoNa was really popular in Japan as well so it was kinda tone down cause "there is no romance among the crew" 🥹

Little Bits and Pieces of Heaven
THE ART OF BEING SUBTLE
One-shot #: 37
Disclaimer: One Piece (and its characters) belongs to Eiichiro Oda-sensei.
Reminder: I have no beta-reader. Any grammatical and spelling errors are solely mine.
Warning: OOC possible. One shot.
Rating: T
Note: I just wanted some ZoNa as seen through Usopp’s eyes. I love how he’s close to both of them.I swear he’s probably, possibly one of the first to notice if something is up with them. It’s just cute to think.
Summary: Things will definitely be more interesting from here on, ne?
It was subtle.
So subtle you will never really notice it… especially if you are not paying any attention.
Which most of the time is what happens because honestly, who would even think that something like that is happening between two of the most hard-headed individuals you ever came across the Grand Line and even in the New World?
Yes they are friends, but not really the makes-your-heart-warm type. Theirs is more… complicated—for the lack of word. Plus it does seem like irritation is the key component of their relationship.
Also there is that distance… that certain reservedness between them. Kind of like a safe space that the two seemed to inadvertently placed in the middle that neither one would deliberately try to step foot on.
But despite that, when push comes to shove… they always have each other’s backs.
In a way that makes it alright.
One fine day of sailing along the New World sea, while everything around them was quiet and calm (no marines or pirate enemy on their tail, no sea kings attacking, nothing) and the Thousand Sunny was smoothly gliding above the water heading towards their next destination…
…something in Usopp’s perception regarding his two friends changed.
He was playing a game of catch along with Luffy and Chopper on the lawn deck. They were all being boisterous, more than the usual, as if they are trying to make up for the day’s tranquillity.
They were tossing the ball up and running around, catching it and tossing it up again as they chased each other back and forth on the whole expanse of the deck.
The trio were momentarily distracted when the galley’s door opened and out step Sanji at the same time Zoro descended down from the crow’s nest.
Usopp groaned inwardly. He was having so much fun playing around and he’s really not in the mood for another squabble between the two-thirds of the monster trio.
Thankfully both seemed preoccupied with their respective thoughts and they just ignored each other, as Sanji headed towards where the aquarium hatch is, earning a sigh of relief from Usopp. Thank heavens for that!
Good thing too that Luffy managed to snag the green-haired man’s attention. The rubber captain immediately bounded towards the swordsman when he saw him. Usopp absent-mindedly threw the ball towards an eager Chopper, who shifted to his heavy point to catch it before instantly reverting back to his usual tiny form.
He called out to Luffy to get his attention. Their ever-juvenile captain was obviously pestering the taller man to play with them. And based from the way Luffy’s tone was reaching a rather whiny pitch (and also from the way Zoro was now looking totally irritated), it was a lost cause.
Usopp called out to Luffy again and as if on cue, Chopper threw the ball towards him. Luffy immediately laughed, his attention shifting away from Zoro and in one swift move, he stretched his arm to meet the ball halfway… with enough force like he was about to sucker punch one of their enemies.
Suddenly Zoro nudged Luffy’s shoulder with his own. Not too much but just enough to make Luffy turn his attention back to his friend, his gaze questioning. The younger man’s outstretched arm wobbled in the air slightly though that wasn’t enough to make him miss the ball. His closed fist still struck it, only with less force than before.
And right at that moment, Nami stepped out of the aquarium bar.
Usopp could swear everyone froze on the spot when she appeared.
Except for the ball.
It headed straight to her. Usopp can only squeeze his eyes shut as he braced himself for the unwanted impact.
Which never came—much to his disbelief. The ball ended up hitting the wall a few good inches from her.
Nami let out a loud shriek from surprise and glared icily at them before proceeding to kick the ball which has rolled down the grassy deck.
The trio let out a disappointed cry when the ball went overboard, falling down the water below.
Nami silenced them with a scowl, huffing angrily before she marched away from them. Usopp was thanking his lucky stars that she didn’t resort to physical violence or even financial.
Though he clearly doubted if they really got away from the latter.
“Why is she mad,” Luffy complained with a pout, a tad disheartened at the loss of their ball. “It didnt hit her.”
“But it almost did!” Chopper said with a hint of fear in his tone.
“Still it didn’t,” Luffy argued, a bit stubbornly.
“Yeah it didn’t,” Usopp mumbled, “Luckily.” He shot a quick glance at Zoro who had walked away from them to head to the men’s quarters while Nami was busy giving them her death glare.
Usopp can tell that that ball would definitely hit Nami face first… if Zoro didn’t pushed Luffy earlier like he did.
Talk about good timing.
Then he stopped and blinked himself into a thought.
Nope that definitely wasn’t just good timing.
No one knew that Nami was in the aquarium bar, and certainly no one had known that she’ll be exiting it right when Luffy smacked the ball towards that direction.
Yet Zoro already bumped Luffy even before he hit the ball, effectively derailing its path and diminishing it strength, preventing it from hitting Nami.
And saving her.
Usopp blinked again.
Saved her in one swift and subtle movement. Huh.
Usopp scratched at his cheek.
------------------------
From that point on Usopp decided to train his watchful eyes on Zoro and Nami, observing their daily interactions attentively and inconspicuously.
True enough, their disagreements had dwindled down after their two-year separation and astonishingly, it continued to do so the further they sailed into the New World.
He’d sometimes see them quietly talking to each other on one side of ship or at the far corner of whatever island they are currently on, instead of having their usual loud interactions (that definitely includes yelling and fighting). They still engage in their good, old bickering sometimes but not as often as they used to.
And that was when he noted that there were a lot of subtle things the swordsman was doing to keep Nami out of harm’s way.
It was just small little things. Just tiny things. Things that can just be overlooked.
It was so unnoticeable… that not even Nami or the whole crew was aware of it.
Unless you pay really, really close attention.
Like what Usopp was currently doing.
He once saw the green-haired man casually moving her cup of hot tea a few inches away to the side before her elbow can hit it and the steaming liquid inside spills on her.
And Nami never realized what Zoro did.
There was one time when they docked on an unruly island filled with shady people and equally shady pirates and Zoro kept bumping and nudging her so she’d change directions while they were walking. Usopp later realized that he was moving her out of the reach of the bounty hunters who were persistently following her.
Though that instance actually ended up in a violent shouting match between the two because Nami finally snapped from all that pushing. She even summoned Zeus, his lightning fully-charged, intent on unleashing it at Zoro.
The bounty hunters that were targeting her decided to high-tail it out of there instead of getting caught in the crossfire between the two terrifying pirates. No one wants to mess with the totally vexed woman, armed with a weapon that can jolt the life out of them. Nor do they want to face off with an equally annoyed swordsman with three katanas who they now realized was the fabled pirate hunter Zoro.
There was also a time that Zoro deliberately knocked down Nami’s beer mug thrice while they were all out eating and drinking in a rather seedy bar because it he knew it had been tampered.
That also resulted in another shouting match. This time with belis and debts involve along with some throttling.
Usopp didn’t need to mention the times when Zoro helps her out with shopping and carrying their groceries and stocks without being told or forced to. Which Usopp also realized, kind of happens a lot as of late.
And in all these occurrences… Nami remained oblivious.
And Usopp had to freaking stop himself from knocking her on the head because it was really goddamned obvious what was actually happening.
Once, they decided to camp by the beach of an uninhabited island. They settled around the fire that the boys enthusiastically made as Robin was about to narrate these amazing ghost stories from her newest book. Usopp quietly observed at the corner of his eye that Zoro strategically sat near Nami, knowing she’d definitely shift closer to him once she gets scared.
Usopp did the same. He deliberately sat near Zoro—on his other side, to be exact—in case he also gets scared and needed comfort.
All these were subtly done. Very subtly done, that no one had an inkling that it was happening at all.
But Usopp does. And he continued to watch and observe and wonder how long will it actually take Nami to figure it all out.
------------------------
Dinner was as usual chaotic, with a lot of laughing, talking and even yelling as they tried to get their fill of their cook’s delectable dinner dishes.
Usopp chewed on his food slowly yet with gusto as he eyed his crewmates, especially those who were at the other end of the table.
Nami had just entered the kitchen and Luffy accidentally barreled into her while running away from Sanji with a stolen plate of newly-cooked meat. Their captain shouted a quick apology to her before hurriedly bounding towards his seat at the head of the table before she can even hit him.
The blond chef was automatically at his tail, yelling expletives at the younger man about stealing food and hurting his Nami-swan.
If Usopp was not mistaken, Nami had been charting her maps all day. He hadn’t seen her since breakfast and she did have smudges of blank ink on her hands and fingers.
Grumbling and promising hell to their captain later after dinner, Nami bent down to retrieved the eyeglasses that she dropped when Luffy bumped into her.
Usopp instantly knew that the orange-haired navigator miscalculated her position. Nami was near the edge of the table when she bent down and had moved closer to it, as her glasses had fallen a bit farther under the table. He can hear her muttering something about Luffy paying for a new pair if her glasses where damage from his idiocy.
If she lifts her head up…
The sniper paused on his chewing, his eyebrows lifting up, when he saw the swift yet subtle way Zoro’s hand move to position itself at the table’s pointed corner, grasping it and effectively covering it.  He had done it so casually while still keeping his attention fixed on what Chopper was explaining to him, that the movement was barely noticeable at all.
When Nami finally raised her head and was about to stand up, her forehead hit Zoro's knuckles. A quick flare of temper showed on her face and she glared irritably at the man before her as she straightened up. Zoro looked unfazed and didn’t bother looking at her direction.
Nami continued to stare daggers at him for a few seconds before a confused look crossed her features.
Usopp watched her intently as she took in Zoro’s hand at the corner of the table and why it was there.
Then her hand went up to touch her forehead.
In his mind’s eye, Usopp was nodding his approval at the turn of the events.
Nami must have realized that if it wasn't for Zoro's hand, she would definitely be sporting a large bump on her forehead or worse…
…the dining table’s sharp edge would have caused a bleeding wound that would send her directly to Chopper’s office.  .
Usopp continued looking at her, as she in turn continued staring at Zoro.
Her brown eyes suddenly widened as realization dawned onto her.
Well, looks like she finally caught on.
Things will definitely be more interesting from here on, ne?

pick a smut zonami hc:
zoro spanks nami when she is being too much of a brat.
they occasionally play drinking games that also somehow involve s!ripping.
nami has a praise k*nk (mommy issues), but zoro won't give her what she wants too easily as likes to play a strict role.
their first time was weird/awkward (but hot) bc they got there by hesitantly agreeing to 3/some after their common fwb (either sanji or luffy) wouldn't stop suggesting it.
nami cries after s*x you know it makes sense.
nami bosses zoro around and zoro is low-key really into it.
zoro is more experienced than nami.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
One-shot #1
Disclaimer: One piece, and it's characters belong to Eiichiro Oda.
Pairing: Nami x Zoro
Rating: T
Warning: AU, OOC most likely, one shot.
Summary: Nami after an tiring day at work decides to take a shortcut home, to unfortunately be harassed by drunk strangers, but it seems fate also sent her a scary looking hero.
Note: all grammar and spelling errors are mine. I have no beta-reader.
She was making her way home from working at her family's bakery wearing a white top, blue jeans that had a smudge of baking powder on it from working, and a pair of high heels. smiling from ear to ear thinking of all the money she made today.
The red haired young women really out did herself this time. It was rather risky to go through this part of town at night, but it's much faster way she thought.
After the exhausting day she had she really didn't care up, until 3 shady looking men wearing casual clothes and matching yellow bandanas around their necks approached her, popping out of the dark alley.
She looked at her surroundings shifting her gaze to the left and right, but to no avail. The street was empty no cars driving on the road, and all the shops around were closed.
The tallest man of the group called out to Nami as he got closer, and asked "If she was looking for a good time?"
She noted they reeked of alcohol, she answered politely "Excuse me, I'm not interested goodnight."
Nami tried walking past them with haste, but before she could a hand gripped her arm tightly. She stiffened at the feeling and looked back with a concerned expression to see the drunk man with a smug smile "Why are you playing hard to get? Don't you know who we are?" The tall man said in a rather cooky tone.
Nami's concerned expression changed into a vicious glare. She answered the man coldly "I don't know, and don't care. Don't touch me!" She said more loudly voice full of anger.
She shook her hand to force him to let go of her, the tall man's smile dropped. He tightened his grip on her hand, and the other two got closer almost yelling at her "You bitch! you cant disrespect our boss like that."
The one he called boss decided to speak again growling "I'll show you what happens when girls like you don't know their place!" letting her go, and raising his hand to hit her.
The instant she felt him let go, she wasted no time quickly spinning around kicking the bastard's boss right between his legs, before he could do anything he fell to the ground moaning in pain.
Seeing her chance she bolted out of there yelling "Serves you right, JACK ASS!"
Unfortunately bastard's companions started chasing after her she looked back, and thought to herself "this is bad! I cant take all of them on my own. I have to find a crowded area."
'I cant run forever.' She breathed more heavily looking back as she heard their boss screaming, as he started running after her "you're going to wish you were never born once we get you!" Shifting her gaze forward seeking help.
Nami ignoring the pain caused by her heels focused all her efforts on running away. She felt the the two men getting closer to her, she started getting more tired.
She looked back once more only to bump into something hard not knowing what it was, she looked forward again to see a man with green-hair wearing a black kendo gi.
She was slightly frightened from the scar on his left eye, and his scary looking face. The man spoke with surprisingly soft voice, and asked her "Is something wrong , miss?" As he looked her up and down, noticed that she was breathing heavily, and to be running with high heels might be a reason to be concerned.
He shifted his gaze to the three men that fallowed behind her. Nami finally caught her breath, and answered him "Help me ple-" the boss of the group pushed her to the side cutting her off. She fell to her knees, feeling too tired to get up. The gang leader faced the green haired man.
Speaking in a angry tone "Don't get involved in this! Unless you want to to die punk." The male responded with a smirk, and announced in a confident voice "My name is Zoro. If you really want to harm this women, then you better be prepared to face the consequences."
The boss face turned full of hate, as he swung at Zoro catching his fist easily before headbutting the tall man, causing their boss to feel dazed Zoro continued giving him a punch to the face knocking him out. Thier boss dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Nami simply looked at awe as Zoro stood there waiting for the other two to make their move.
"Boss!" The two cried out in sync before one of the men sent a a couple of curses his way, and began getting closer to attack whilst the other lost most of his nerve once he saw his boss fall.
"I wouldn't recommend doing that" Zoro said in a stern tone his smirk changing to a serious expression.
One of the henchmen punched Zoro in the stomach, Nami started worrying that things might take a bad turn. Thinking her hardest what can she do to help considering the option of grabbing him, and running away.
Her line of thought got cut off, when she heard Zoro speak in much colder voice "‏Was that all you had?" Zoro asked the guy who punched him.
Both Zoro's voice and the fact he stood unaffected by the blow gave him, the attacker started to get anxious backing away.
Before he could take another step back. Zoro grabbed his head, and slammed it against a brick wall most likely giving him a concussion, before he fell as well.
The last one of the trio that harassed Nami left stood terrified of what he just witnessed. He quickly pulled a knife from his pocket, and yelled at Zoro running at him "Don't mess with me!" Nami screamed "Watch out!" Zoro simply smirked at Nami, and returned a fierce glare to the man running at him.
Dodging his attack grabbing the wrist holding the knife putting pressure on it, while placing his second hand on his elbow pushing it forward right on the edge of breaking his arm. The pain caused him to fall to one knee, before he could break his arm. Zoro decided to shove him against the wall forcing him to drop the knife. Not wanting the women beside them to see him do something so brutal Zoro growled "Get out of my sight."
Turning his back to face Nami. Once the last henchmen Zoro turned his back on him attempted to grab the knife. The moment Nami saw the henchmen go for the knife decided that she no longer wanted to be the victim, and got up quickly and lunched powerful upper cut hitting third gang member straight in the jaw.
The hit completely threw him off hurting like hell. It was Zoro's turn to be awed by her, seeing the seemingly defenceless women end up saving him. The henchmen started running away screaming in pain "These people are crazy, I'm out of here!" ‏
The second man to attack Zoro weakly followed shortly picking up his boss, and running yelling in fear "Wait for us!" the pair watched the scene unfold before them quietly.
Zoro turned his gaze to her asking her "Are you hurt?" Nami shifted her attention from the running trio to the one who helped her "I'm okay, thanks to you." giving him a bright smile.
Zoro grabbed her hand and brushed his thumb over her knuckles, that reddened from the upper cut she gave "You should put an ice bag over this, when you get home." Nami blushed slightly at his touch, and Zoro blushed as well after realizing what he did.
He let go of her scratching the back of his head, before saying "Sorry about that" and started walking away from her.
He suddenly felt a warm hand grabbing his own, he turned back to see red headed women a bit flushed as she said shyly "I know it might be a lot to ask especially after you saved me, but would you mind walking me home?"
Zoro smiled at her and nodded "I don't mind at all, don't forget you saved me as well. Thank you for that, you can handle yourself quite well." Nami giggled at his words and lead him towards her home.
She asked letting go of his hand"So, Zoro right? I'm Nami thanks again." Zoro simply said "Yeah, Its nice to meet you Nami, also don't worry about it."
Nami then studied his attire, and face thinking his face wasn't so scary anymore and rather ruggedly handsome she blushed at the thought. In order to push through her embarrassment she asked "So what do you practice? Zoro looked forward ignoring the cute blush she had on her face and spoke "I practice kendo in Mihawk's dojo, I plan on winning the world championship."
Nami responded softly "you're really ambitious, ill be rooting for you." Zoro's lips tugged upwards at that.
He glanced at her noticing a bit of white powder on her pants staring slightly "What do you usually do when you're not in need of saving?" Zoro asked teasingly.
Nami fallowed his gaze noticing the baking powder on her pants she began wiping it off, before answering him "Well, I work at my families bakery. and save overconfident fools like you from getting stabbed." She said mockingly he frowned at her "I just let my guard down" he answered slightly irritated
"Hmm... maybe you got distracted by my beauty" Nami exclaimed proudly Zoro stared at her face responding with a more serious tone then before "You're right, once I felt the danger pass I allowed myself to admire those gorgeous eyes of yours" Nami blushed after hearing him say that.
His seriousness faded and a smug smile adorned his face "Ha your face is completely red, that's what you get for teasing me" Zoro said in a childish manner, and began to laughing. Nami started pouting punching his shoulder lightly "Jerk."
They both looked at each other, and laughed afterwards they walked in silence it wasn't awkward just a comforting silence, enjoying this walk till they reached their destination. Nami walked ahead of him stopping in front of a building
"I guess this is where we say goodnight, thanks for walking me all the way here." she said with a smile
He returned a smile to her and said "I hope we meet again Nami, goodbye." He turned around to walk to just to be stopped once he heard her say "Hey wait a minute, I still need to thank you properly."
Zoro responded "You really don't have to, were basically even." Nami retorted against him "But I want to, and I will. come by my bakery, I'll make you a desert on the house." She pouted again Zoro then laughed at her answer.
Irradiated and embarrassed, she continued "It's right in the middle of town called sweet treasure."
Zoro responded "Guess I don't really have a choice , but I'm not really a fan of sweets."
She answered confidently winking at him "That's because you haven't tasted my special tangerine flavoured cake."
Giving a small smile "I'll be sure to visit." he said.
Nami started opening the door to her building, and before she entered looked at Zoro one last time and said "Goodnight Zoro."
as he started walking home, he replied "Goodnight Nami, Im looking froward to that dessert."
After they bid farewell to each other Nami entered her apartment and Zoro was making his way home they both thought happily "I cant wait for tomorrow."

You’re Like Lightning In A Bottle.
ONE-SHOT.
Disclaimer: One piece and all it’s characters belong to Eiichiro Oda, I just like to write about them.
Rating: T
Author’s Note: so ive had awful writers block and i wrote this while trying to muscle through it, it’s basically an alternative version of the post time-skip scene where usopp meets up with nami for the first time
Summary: What if Zoro had ended up in the bar Nami was waiting in, and not Usopp?
AO3 link.
‘Fuck,’ he cursed to himself while glowering at the building that sat directly across the street from him, ‘Perona must have given him shit directions!’
For the better part of the last hour the pirate hunter had been wandering from grove to grove, searching for Shakky’s bar, and he was over it.
‘He’d just have to check in with her or Rayleigh later, in case more of the crew showed up. Right now, he was irritated and thirsty.’
Zoro pushed through a set of saloon doors, pausing the second that he laid eye on a woman seated at the bar counter with striking orange hair. ‘There was.. Something familiar about her...’
Stepping further into the building, he looked the redhead up and down, and spotted several shopping bags that were resting near her sandaled feet. Even though she wasn’t facing him, he felt like he knew her... Like he had a deep connection to her.
‘Orange hair.. A clear love for shopping.. And heeled sandals...’
His heart soared into his throat, and he began to unconsciously drift her way, an asteroid caught in the gravitational pull of a much larger planet.
‘Yeah... He definitely knew her.’
It cost him an almost concerning amount of effort to beat down the powerful urge he had to run and gather her in his arms. ‘Because, god - he’d missed her so fucking much. It was almost unbearable - but he was not about to embarrass himself by acting like that idiot cook.’
Though Zoro would have preferred to stay in the warm wake of nostalgia for a little longer, the sharp CLICK-CLICK of a gun being cocked to his left jerked his attention to the goofy man wielding it.
‘What in fresh hell..?’
Standing at a booth a few feet from the counter was a man dressed like Luffy, or at least, how Luffy dressed when the swordsman had first joined up, ‘...And were the clowns sitting with him supposed to be the other Straw Hats? Fucking idiots.’
It was a lucky thing that Zoro’s doppelganger wasn’t present, or he’d be sorely tempted to test out some of his new techniques on him. ‘He was almost disappointed not to have the excuse to get in a fight.’
“Nobody disrespects me!” The imposter Luffy shouted, recapturing the pirate hunter’s thoughts, but he was interrupted by the woman beside him who placed her hand on the barrel of the pistol.
Zoro took one look at her, snorted, and barely contained a cackle. ‘HAH! How the hell were people falling for this reindeer shit?’
“Let me handle this,” she took the gun and strutted towards the Straw Hat’s real navigator, sneering, “Har, har. You think you’re real cute, don’t you?” As she draped an arm over Nami’s shoulders, she leaned around her torso and pointed the weapon at her face.
On instinct, one of Zoro’s hands went to kitetsu’s hilt and he popped it loose with a flick of his thumb. The only thing that stopped him from acting was the cat burglar’s calm, bored expression despite there being a loaded weapon aimed right at her.
‘She looked like she had things under control.. But if that idiot redhead’s trigger finger even flinched, she was going to lose her entire hand.’
“I’ll make this super simple, okay?” Imposter Nami turned a sinister grin on his crew mate, “Either you come drink with captain Luffy, or you die,” she paused for a moment as if to let the message sink in, her grin stretching wider, “For your info, I have a bounty myself. I’m the Straw Hat’s navigator, Nami. You scared yet?”
‘All right, that was enough, he couldn’t stomach another second of this nonsense.’
The swordsman drew his weapon and swept across the floor in one quick, fluid motion. Coming to a stop behind both women, he lowered the katana between their heads, the deadly edge of his blade hovering very, very close to the imposter’s throat.
“Move,” he demanded, leveling the phony navigator with a violent eye that promised hell if she didn’t do exactly what he said. To emphasize how serious he was, his grip on the hilt flexed threateningly. When she didn’t respond, too frozen from a mixture of fear and shock from his sudden appearance, Zoro inched kitetsu so close that if she took too deep a breath - she’d slit her throat on it. “Don’t make me say it again.”
Seemingly coming to her senses, the redhead shrieked and jolted backwards, stumbling over her own feet till she crashed onto her rear. Somewhere along the way to the floor she dropped the gun, which Zoro spotted near Nami’s bar stool. He planted his boot on the pistol and dragged it over while lowering kitetsu. No one spoke as the swordsman turned to address the man who dared to parade around as his captain.
“Hello, captain,” he grinned like a shark that had locked on to its next meal, “Long time no see, huh?”
While their exchange was the center of attention, a few patrons had begun to whisper amongst themselves about the identity of the man with green hair making such a big scene out of the interaction.
“...I think I’ve seen his face somewhere...” “...Did he say captain?...” “...Someone look for his wanted poster...” “...Swear I had one here...’
Papers rustling as they were sifted through followed as Zoro continued to leer at the group of thugs, swinging kitetsu up to rest the back of the blade across his shoulders, “You got anything to say to me, rubber boy?”
Soon the comments grew plenty and loud enough for the phony Straw Hats to hear snippets from the people sitting closest to them.
“...That’s Pirate Hunter Zoro I’m sure of it...” “...But he doesn’t have a scar in the picture...” “...I thought he was part of Straw Hat’s crew...” “...Is this a mutiny?...”
The sneer that he wore turned malevolent as he watched the color drain from each pretender’s face. ‘They must have finally figured out how bad they fucked up, strutting around and disgracing the Straw Hats’ name, disgracing Luffy’s name, the way they were.’
Zoro opened his mouth but just as he was about to threaten their lives the woman beside him rose and rounded her stool. She stood right in front of him as she grabbed his chin, tilting his head towards hers. “That’s enough, moss head,” the navigator said in a stern tone that mimicked her expression.
“Huh?” His hackles rose as he prepared to start an argument - but he faltered some when Nami’s glare turned severe. If they weren’t in public he might have cringed away from her.
“I said that’s enough,” she repeated herself, piercing all the way into his soul with the heat of her scowl, “Help me with my bags, we’re leaving.”
Zoro snorted, jerking his chin out of her grip and side-stepping away from her, “I’m not a pack mule, carry them your fucking self you lazy brat.”
The navigator scoffed and settled her hands onto her hips as she watched him sheath his sword, “You’ve got all those muscles, but you can’t carry a couple shopping bags?”
“Oh shut the hell up, Nami.”
“Zoro, would you just do it so we can leave?” Nami stepped up to the pirate hunter and traced her pointer finger down the length of his exposed sternum, leveling him with a needy expression, “...Please?”
For a reason he couldn’t fathom, he felt his face heat up.
‘Fuck, was he blushing?? Shit, what the hell!! What was wrong with him?? Two years ago he could hold his ground no problem,’ Zoro clenched his jaw as he fought himself from giving the redhead her way, ‘..But Nami was so close. And.. She looked so good... God, she smelled even better. Was she casting a spell on him?’
“.......“ He was silent for several seconds before he released a very displeased growl and bent over to gather all of her bags up in one hand.
“Good boy,” the navigator winked as she grabbed his free hand and towed him towards the exit the moment he’d straightened up, “Let’s go!”
“Quit fuckin’ treating me like a dog, Nami!” Her crew mate snarled as he followed after the cat burglar, vehemently trying to ignore the jolt that had rocketed up his arm and down his spine when she touched him. ‘What the fuck was that about? Why did he feel so nervous and giddy just because she was holding his hand?? Fuck.’
Not even two seconds after she dragged him through the bar doors, Zoro heard what sounded like a lightning bolt strike directly behind him, and spun around without letting go of Nami. The entire building was lit up with jagged, electric yellow beams, like there was a thunderstorm raging inside.
His jaw fell open but he didn’t notice. ‘How’d she do that?’ The pirate hunter followed her through the crowded walkway into an alley between two stores where they could lay low, absentmindedly hanging onto her fingers the whole time.
“Why are you such a drama queen?” The navigator heaved a heavy sigh once she was sure the coast was clear, turning a chastising stare on her crew mate.
“Who the hell are you calling a drama queen?!”
“You! You didn’t need to go and play knight in shining armor, I could have handled myself.”
‘Was she seriously trying to lecture him? Already??’ The pirate hunter crowded her up against the alley wall and pinned her hand right above her head so he could get in her face, “I wasn’t rescuing you, woman. I just got fed up watching that shitshow, and decided to put a stop to it.”
“Sure, tough guy,” Nami smirked, though it was small, and slipped her fingers into the top of his haramaki, pulling him closer to her, “You weren’t trying to defend my honor?”
Zoro tried to convince himself that her touch didn’t shock him to the core with an overwhelming need to kiss her. ‘Fuck... Why did he feel like this? Was he sick? What the hell was coming over him?’ He closed some of the space between their faces, his eye tracing from her eyebrows down her nose to her mouth where they lingered.
“What honor does a thief like you have for me to defend?” His heart thumped unevenly as he spoke, fingers tensing and relaxing around the handles of the shopping bags he was still holding. ‘...He wanted to kiss her so fucking bad.’
“Are you saying I’m honorless?” The corner of her lips twitched up as she traced a finger beneath his jaw, lifting her chin a couple centimeters, “How rude, I guess you didn’t learn any manners in two years, hmm?”
“What did you expect?” Zoro chuckled quietly and moved in even closer, his eyelid falling halfway shut, “You think I’d turn into the love-cook just because I missed you?”
“Did you miss me, tiger?”
‘Shit.. He hadn’t meant to tell her that. If she knew how he felt about her she’d probably use it against him, but..’ His surroundings all seemed to blend together, and flow with his doubts to the back of his mind, ‘He had missed her a lot. He’d missed her so much that it made his chest and throat burn like he’d drank a pot of boiling water.’
“Maybe...” the swordsman murmured after his brief stint of silence, brushing the end of his nose against hers, “Did you miss me?”
Nami played with her crew mate’s earrings as his head tipped to the right, then cupped the side of his face in her palm, “Maybe.”
“Witch.” Zoro murmured close to lovingly as a short, breathy scoff escaped his throat. He smiled as he leaned the rest of the way in, and when he kissed her a current of electricity seemed to jump from her skin into his.
It fried every inch of his body from the top of his head, to the tips of his fingers and the ends of his toes. Kissing Nami was like kissing a lightning storm.. where even her taste electrocuted him. He was practically humming with all the energy that coursed through his nervous system.
'Shit.. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so alive.’ The swordsman broke away for a moment to steady his breathing and settle his cycloning thoughts, 'Hell, if he wasn't careful - There was a good chance he could get addicted to this woman. Or maybe he already was...’

This is one day late. Today’s theme is different but I’ll still push it.
Theme: #17 -  Morning After Christmas
Summary: All that eventually led them here. The morning after Christmas—all tangled up in each other and wrapped in the coziest blankets…
Soft.
So soft.
He can hardly remember a time when he woke up nuzzled against something so soft, so comforting…
…and so warm.
Zoro doesn’t really care much about the comforts of life. He rarely lets unnecessary whims or luxuries bother him and he rarely indulges in them.
Well except of course when it’s sleep and sake. Those are the only two things he lets himself enjoy without any restrictions.
He lived simply. He survived with whatever is on hand without any complaint or fuss. As long as there is food to eat, water to drink, a shade to rest and sleep (doesn’t matter if it is inside an abandoned shelter or a tree in the midst of the forest); he is all good.
But this feeling that greeted him the moment he woke up was too pleasant to pass. It was new and not something he is used to. Zoro had woken up with a lot of the not-so-nice things greeting him—an end of a sword or knife pointed at his throat, the hard, cold ground, a growling, wild animal looking for food, a punch in head, the cold sea water, Luffy’s mouth about to take a chomp of him and his pillow while dreaming of meat (and he wasn’t the only one in the boy’s room to experience this, it’s a constant problem)…
…but never this. Never surrounded by this kind of warmth and comfort and softness he had never known before. The kind that makes you never want to pull away. Ever.
Just this once he wanted to let himself bask in it. Revel in it. The way he indulges himself with sleep and alcohol—no restrictions
He took a deep breath and buried his face closer to it. To the warmth, the softness that smelled slightly of…
Tangerines.
Like Nami’s tangerines.
With that he cracked his eye open, all his senses now wide awake.
His gaze was instantly fixed on the sight of smooth skin, tanned slightly from sailing under sun. There are wisps of curling orange hair resting against the slender curve of the neck and  framing a beautiful, sleeping face.
Nami took a deep breath in her sleep, her bare shoulder slowly rising and falling at the action. Zoro watched in fascination as her lips pursed slightly, her brows furrowing before she nestled closer to him. Her chin settled against the top of his head and he realized what that softness he was feeling was.
He was actually pressed against her, his face settled comfortably against her generous breasts.
His initial reaction was to jerk back the moment it dawned unto him that he was eye level with those beautiful, naked mounds and that enticing cleavage. But stopped short when he realized that he can’t move… he and Nami were tangled up with each other. Their arms and legs entwined in a way that they slept locked in each other’s embrace.
Well… their Christmas night had been crazy fun. Why else would they end up wrapped in each other this morning?
Not that he’s complaining. They’ve been doing this exasperating back and forth with each other for so long it was bound to blow up anytime soon. Besides he couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment their petty and perpetual squabbling turned into a sort of their own secret language and a way to show their affection for each other that was actually there—quietly sitting and patiently waiting to rear its head out in the least expected moment.
But he had known (and so did Nami) that there was a certain shift in their bickering which initially were tinge with insults that were meant to pull the other down a peg or two or put them in their own places. It had something in it that wasn’t there before. How every time it ended, they’d part ways just like before, huffing at each other only this time they would both desperately try to hide a smirk and a smile as they walk away.
How Zoro was now always looking forward to it and would sometimes deliberately try to rile the navigator up and how Nami did the same, purposely coming up the crow’s nest while he trains or naps to start a row with him.
It never ended with either one of them annoyed with each other. And that was new and surprising and to be honest kind of exhilirating.
He also started being more tolerant of her, not getting easily irritated with her complaints or even if she was waking him up with her fist. The same goes for her, she doesn’t make too much fuss when he gets lost or when he says or do something that she deemed stupid.
And he realized while all this is happening, they also started to move closer to each other. Literally. Like they were drawn to each other like magnets. They started sitting beside each other more often. Or standing almost near each other. But always at arm’s length… far enough yet still close enough.
Three weeks into Christmas, the distance they carefully kept between them while they try to make sense on what they should do totally disappeared.
And the touching started.
Light and fleeting at first. A tap on the shoulder, a nudge on the arm, the back of their hands brushing against each other…
Zoro stood much closer to her now, near enough to breathe in the scent of tangerines from her hair. And Nami started crowding on his personal space, leaning on to him with a cheeky smile on her face especially when she needs to pass someone something or get something from someone, almost as if she was teasing him.
On one random island where they docked for the day, she had ‘accidentally’ pulled at his fingers in an attempt to stop him from turning around a random corner and disappearing on them because he definitely will get lost the moment she lose sight of him.
And Nami never let go.
Her dainty hand was wrapped around three of his fingers as she tugged him all over the marketplace to buy some necessities for their stock. He followed her with a lot of grumbling and expletives all at the same time marvelling at the size difference of their hands.
How soft hers was. How coarse his is.
How it just feels right.
Before the sun set that day, his hand was intertwined with hers. And for reasons so much more than because he’ll wander off and will get lost.
And soon after they would find their hands interlaced together at random times of the day. Always surreptitiously, never in front of the others. Only when they are sure that they are only ones in the room.
She’d casually lean her head on his shoulder while they were up in the crow’s nest on their night shifts. His hand would rest the small of her back as they explore the island where they just docked just by themselves, far from the crew.
And when they are alone in the crow’s nest again before the change of watch, that same hand would wound itself around her waist so he can pull her closer to him for a kiss.
All that eventually led them here. The morning after Christmas—all tangled up in each other and wrapped in the coziest blankets Nami had brought last night after their Christmas celebration along with a bottle of sake to share.
“Mmmm…” Nami suddenly hummed as she started to stir awake, her body moving languidly to stretch. She opened her eyes and chocolate brown orbs peered down at him in wonder, blinking twice before a warm smile spread on her face.
“You awake already?” She murmured softly, her voice still laced with sleep. “It’s not even the break of the day.”
Zoro smirked. He rubbed a hand against her exposed arm noticing how the skin on it prickled with the cold air of dawn. Luckily they were nowhere near a winter island right now or they’d both be freezing by now from falling asleep with just the blankets on them.
“These blankets are crazy soft,” Nami was mumbling, rubbing her feet against the material. “It feels so good.”
“Yeah,” Zoro agreed, as he continued to warm her arm.
She just let out a soft purring sound of contentment at his ministration before her eyes drifted close again. “Sleep with me some more Zoro.” she requested.
The swordsman chuckled. He’d never deny her that.
He adjusted their position so Nami was now the one whose eye level with his chest, her head resting on the crook of his arm. He pulled her close and kissed her forehead as he covered them with one of the blankets so they both could drift off back to sleep.
The soft giggle she let out sent a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Zoro rarely lets himself indulge in this kind of comfort.
But maybe this morning after Christmas he might finally start to.

ZoNa Valentine’s Week: Day 4 Why I Ship ZoNa: Part 1
So because i’ve never explained why I ship ZoNa, I’ve decided to use this Valentine’s Week as an excuse to make 3 separate posts on why I ship them.
They will be long posts because I am relying on the gifs I made of the anime rather than the manga (even though the manga may be more accurate, but I just started reading the manga so give me some time lol)
OKAY LET’S START.....
So just as a preface: First and foremost these two have known each other the longest. I’m not saying that in order to be a couple you need to know someone for a long time, but in ZoNa’s case I feel like it’s an important part of their relationship.
They started out as friends then shit went down in Arlong Park (namely where Nami plays the villain for a hot second and that shakes Zoro up cause he had trusted her) but then everything was settled and they went back to being friends.
I feel like that incident was necessary not only for the plot, but for Zoro and Nami’s relationship to develop. After everything, they now have full trust in the other and their relationship was able to evolve.
This all leads me to my first reason as to why I ship ZoNa:
1. They are friends FIRST
Yes, I ship them as a couple, but I believe that all successful relationships begin as friends (that’s just my own personal belief). A foundation built on friendship and mutual understanding and trust is what I believe allows this ship to sail.
And despite the fact that everyone thinks Nami and Zoro are only capable of fighting and butting heads, they are actually very good friends who are capable of holding normal conversations.
Exhibit A (Ep.54) : Nami took notice of how Zoro was acting strange and commented on it. She’s aware of his presence and isn’t just writing him off. And this also shows that she cares about him.
Tumblr media
Exhibit B (Ep. 62) : Zoro wanted Nami’s opinion on what the strange sound he heard was. Also Nami is taking the time to answer him; she could’ve just ignored him completely but she decided to pay him attention.
Tumblr media
Exhibit C (Ep. 154): This is a very brief moment, but Zoro and Nami have a conversation about dropping anchor and the layout of the island. And they are both on the ship alone and idk I like to think that Zoro was waiting for Nami to be done changing so that they could go on the island together.
Tumblr media
Exhibit D (Ep. 161): Nami wanting Zoro’s opinion as to if he saw anything. Just shows that she trusts his judgment and how she can rely on him.
Tumblr media
Exhibit E (Ep. 161): Short conversation, but still important. Zoro is showing concern and care for Nami by telling her to be more careful. And Nami is replying sincerely.
Tumblr media
Exhibit F (Ep. 217): Zoro notices Nami is mad without even looking at her. If that doesn’t tell you how well he knows her by now, then idk what does. But it’s also important that Zoro is listening to her concerns and commenting on them.
Tumblr media
So YES, they can hold normal conversations, here is the proof! And having known each other the longest, they also know the other well.
Zoro can spot Nami’s money obsession anytime, anywhere.  (Ep.105)
Tumblr media
And Nami knows how much Zoro loves sake, so she went out of her way to get it for him. (look at how happy he is hehe) (Ep. 255)
Tumblr media
And this ⤵ gif (Ep. 159) is one of my newfound favorite moments and leads us into the next reason. It’s not in the manga, but maybe the animators are also ZoNa fans....??
Tumblr media
2. They are comfortable around eachother.
Okay, but doesn’t it seem like Zoro is teasing Nami?!?! She almost ran into a tree and then Zoro is like “oooo a perfect opportunity to tease her”. Idk I just found this part super cute. Like Zoro isn’t usually one to be playful like this, but he is with Nami and ughhh it’s so cute!
And then the multiple times that Zoro is seen sitting/sleeping next to/near Nami. It just shows that they don’t mind each other’s company and honestly (intentional or not) I think they gravitate towards each other because of how comfortable they are with each other.
Exhibit A (46): He came to sit next to her during breakfast when he could’ve sat down next to his captain. Like is this his seat? Has he claimed the spot next to Nami as his own? ..... I like to think so.
Tumblr media
Exhibit B (48): The start of Zoro’s debt. I just love how Nami leans in and he doesn’t seem to mind it hehe.
Tumblr media
Exhibit C (Episode of Alabasta): The circumstance here was a bit different, but I like to think that she just wanted to be close to Zoro. And idc who tf you are, but if you were in Zoro’s position you can’t just not think about or be conscious about the woman on you. Like yeah you can call yourself friends, but you gotta be at least a bit conscious of where you’re touching and what’s touching you.
Tumblr media
Exhibit D (Ep.149) : The start of the famed drinking buddies act. Nami moved here after pouring Robin a drink so I like to think that she felt comfortable and decided to settle down next to him. So i’m guessing Zoro’s seat is next to Nami during breakfast, and Nami’s seat is next to Zoro when they’re drinking?!
Tumblr media
Exhibit E (Ep. 193): Psssst Zoro, just scoot your hand over a smidgen
Tumblr media
Exhibit F (Ep. 225) : Before one of my favorite parts in the Foxy Arc (that will be shown in another part hehe).
Tumblr media
Exhibit G (Ep 228): The two of them were up here alone before Sanji came. I like to think that Nami was relaxing and then Zoro came up wordlessly and just plopped down and fell asleep (before Sanji interrupted)
Tumblr media
Exhibit H ( Ep 554): Honestly, Zoro is used to it at this point. And this just proves that Nami believes in his strength and believes that he will protect her no matter what.
Tumblr media
Exhibit I (569): Ah yes the drinking buddies, an upgrade from Sky Island.
Tumblr media
Exhibit J (569): Ah yes the sobering-up buddies. I made another post (here) on this, but I like to think Zoro likes being near her so he can protect her.
Tumblr media
Now, I’d also like to make the argument that them butting heads is actually proof of how close they are.
Nami isn’t afraid of getting close to him and giving him a piece of her mind. Remember in my previous post when Zoro does this with Nami (who is Sanji in Nami’s body). Yeah, they def don’t mind being close to each other even when it comes to arguing.
(Ep 93)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d think Zoro would learn that he can rarely win an argument with Nami, but nah, that ain’t Zoro. Personally, I think Zoro low key likes arguing with her. Aside from Nami the only one he really argues with is Sanji (but even then what they argue about is usually something petty).   (Ep 147)
Tumblr media
I really like this gif because it shows that Zoro is trying to explain to Nami why they did what they did. She thinks they were “beaten”, but that isn’t necessarily correct, so he was trying to get her to see the real picture.... which she didn’t. lol (Ep 151)
But if there’s one thing I noticed about Zoro and Nami’s relationship when it comes to arguing, it’s that the other party is trying to get the other one to see from their point of view; they don’t argue just to argue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Putting aside the fact that they were arguing about marriage (although if they ever did get married I’d think Nami would want something extravagant while Zoro would just be like “whatever just wake me up when I have to go in” ah okay my imagination is running wild.. stop stop)
Anyway, this part is important because this time it’s Nami who is trying to get Zoro to see from her point of view. Of course, she can’t do so without yelling and gnashing teeth, but the sentiment is the same-she wants Zoro to understand where she’s coming from. (Ep 764)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean look, friends have differing viewpoints and thoughts. Yes, they may disagree, but in the end it doesn’t really matter because people can still think differently but be close.  Ever heard the saying “opposites attract”? yeah, that’s basically ZoNa in a nutshell. They may argue and disagree, but I think that brings them even closer.
And Zoro is usually referred to as the “calm and cool” guy, but the fact that he easily loses his “cool” over something slight that Nami says, idk I just find that cute that she’s able to get under his skin like that.
I love the dynamic between the two. They’re opposites who like to fight, but always have each other’s backs and couldn’t stand to see the other hurt.
