Hello, I'm not sure if you're aware, but tumblr is going to start helping midjourney gather data for their AI. You're one of the artists I follow here pretty actively and I wanted to warn you to maybe start nighshading your art before posting it here so it doesn't get swept up!

I've seen a couple of posts about it. Feeling disappointed but not that surprised. Also not excited about having to start nightshading/glazing my pieces but if there isn't going to be any serious regulations regarding data scraping and ai "art", there aren't a lot of choices.

Thank you for taking the time to warn me just in case, it was very thoughtful of you!

#from what I've seen the effectiveness of nightshade/glaze has been debated and I don't even pretend to understand how it works #but like watermarks it's at least some kind of preventive measure a token effort to stop your art from being stolen and misused #but I fear that if someone is determined to do it anyway chances are they will find a way unfortunately #this shouldn't be the reality of trying to share art online #it's a pretty dismal situation when this responsibility falls on the artists themselves #I've been here since 2011 I've lived through multiple tumblr apocalypses I'm not leaving unless they make this place wholly unlivable #and I don't think there are truly good alternatives with similar sense of community and as varied posting and customization options #it seems like every other major social media platform is doing this exact same thing if not worse #answered #ohdeergood #I'm tired we're all tired of this

my secret confession is i think a lot of current art in comics is pretty but sometimes way too glossy and lifeless... it kinda feels like a sticker sheet where they just swap out generic stock poses that they have on hand for that character rather than the art being reflective of the actual story and moment the character is currently in

#does this make sense #like its generic 'heres this character with a hand on their hip. this is their idle position. their arms are stiffly raised now to talk.#theyre back to their idle pose (2nd version). heres them suddenly springing to life (aka arms over head as they fly abruptly and stiffly).#they land the exact same way everytime regardless of where theyre at (fist clenched by their sides)'#like it feels like different poses you can alternate between in a dress up game rather than being present in the story #wheres the expressions! the body language! the moment! the way they differently carry themselves!#i know im biased for older styles but :// idk it sometimes feels lifeless in a sense #but im not an artist so. cant complain too much. gorgeous art but it's like you can see where capitalism and demand to be sellable #kills any creative input or fun twist that makes that artist or that arc remarkable and rememberable #but whatever.... 70s and 80s comics save me.....#ransom note

i think in the hamster wheel of my mind a big part of where people go wrong with eddie and his shitty garage band as an extension is that they for some bizarre reason think he's gene simmons metal when he's jack black metal. heavy metal. he's tenacious d metal. he's school of rock. he's stoner lord of the rings metal he nearly wore blue jeans and plaid. jack black literally in real life once said eddie was the best character bc he's heavy metal like him. #witch hat tag #orufrey #er.... i'm too tired to have anything to say..i worked several days on this.#wait.. didn't i say just recently here that i probably wouldn't ever depict 'what if alaira is qifrey's sort-of ex'. What's going on #i don't even remember deciding to draw this..it's all a blur..i'm not sure why i WOULD decide to draw delicate scenes in my head #that i wouldn't really want to share with anyone/discuss so why did i draw it...#some part of me really really wants to draw things that are more and more true to myself...#maybe because of my alienation with most romance/shipping/dynamics the rest of the world depicts.#orufrey really is perfectly suited to me - what i read in the text and what is in my head. well anyway #i am TIRED of drawing poses and angles and..maybe now i will actually take a break from drawing bc of the tediousness of Angles #btw it really is a 'stretch of time' . . . assuming witches graduate age 18-20 #well orufrey are canonically 30-ish. they've only had agott around for presumably about TWO years (?) bc she took the test age 10 #and it feels like oru moving in/unknown atelier acquisition/building (?) .. i guess that could be a year or so before agott at most #(she was the first disciple) so... ????????? What about the other 7 or so years ?!?!?!!?!?! Unemployed Brimhat Hatred era #that time is very nebulous. after qifrey went to the tower i feel like it's been implied he and oru drifted apart a little.#certainly they didn't live together at first... no way. that doesn't feel like how it is based on things oru has said about becoming Eye #idk. I'm tired now. i don't usually think of alaira as necessarily qifrey's ex and this being how things went in that 'sliver of time'.#i usually prefer the idea that they have their first kiss with each other in their 30s cause That's Just The Orufrey Lifestyle #just felt like making a more relatable alternative view of my own Cai Orufrey Canon one time. btw im a big monoshipper and it hurt a bit #let's leave it there. this is surely the most i've worked on a 'single' art - though now i realise just how much longer the fic took :')

Puppet! Belos design I made :P Been meaning to make it for a while now, and??? honestly I'm 50/50 about this lol

Anyways!!! Since this is technically and AU design, Little context for it :P

Belos, instead of being completely in his monster form, was in a weird mix between that and his human form. In the sense that he didn't look quite human considering the fact he had green horns, and goopy ass limbs.

One of The Collector's star minions managed to find him and turn him into a puppet, but for a plot reason I will figure out LATER, he managed to become sorta like Raine in the sense he's fully conscious and in control of his body.

So he gets sent to The Archive House, and ofc Collector quickly figures out Belos is here. Instead of attempting to gaslight the kid, Belos passes himself off as a 'friendlier' version of himself. And just like he did as Raine, he explained that because of the friendship of magic (or whatever tf he said) allowed him to come to life.

Collector was just happy that Belos was atleast nice to him and willing to be his friends, so now the dude's just dragged around as his personal caretaker 😭
