Tumblr media
YOU WAKE UP in a cold sweat, your heart pounding against your rib cage and with a voice in the back of your mind. You’re trembling as you can’t make any sense of what the voice is saying, and soon the sound of your blood rushing in your ears overtakes the incoherent voice.
You rub your eyes to ground yourself before you glance around, noting you’re still in the warehouse. You look at your watch, groaning quietly as you realize it’s quite early in the morning. Your chest feels quite heavy, and you have an odd craving for a cigarette when you don’t remember ever picking the habit up.
It’s one of those nights; you can tell you aren’t going to be able to go back to sleep anytime soon. Adler and the others wanted you to stay in the warehouse just in case you were able to decrypt any more information; you had no problem with that, as mostly everyone else also slept in the warehouse, although in different areas. Unfortunately though, your makeshift sleeping cot is not too comfortable, so you have an ache in your neck along with stirring anxiety from your nightmare.
You push the cheap blanket off of yourself and you adjust your sleeves before swinging your legs over the side of the cot. You slip your boots on and lace them up, letting out a heavy sigh as you do so. A nervous energy remains under your skin, like you’re being watched. You know you aren’t—or do you?— but you shudder nonetheless. You grab your leather jacket, sliding it on before you exit the room you’ve been sleeping in for the past couple of days. The common area is clear except for Helen by the radios with her headphones, trying to make out Russian messages.
You rub your sternum before exiting the warehouse right in front of the garage door, the cool nighttime air filling your lungs. Goosebumps rise underneath your jacket for a moment from the fresh sensation, and you’re so caught up in your own mind you don’t even notice the man standing a few feet away. “What’re you doin’ up?” You jolt at the sound of someone’s voice and you look over, locking eyes with Adler. Lacking his usual sunglasses, his eyebrows are more visible and furrowed. A half smoked cigarette is between his fingers like usual, and he takes a drag from it.
You let out a breath and you shrug, stuffing your hands into the back pockets of your jeans, shifting your weight as you glance away. “Couldn’t sleep.” You utter. You technically aren’t lying, though you didn’t even attempt to go back to sleep. Adler doesn’t respond as he tucks a hand under his other arm as he takes another drag off of his cigarette, shifting slightly closer to you. Your eyes train on some bugs flying around under the big light overhead for a moment, the silence being filled with crickets.
“Couldn’t sleep, huh?” Adler hums, his eyes never leaving your form. He notes the way you’re reluctant to share anything, your conflicted and far away gaze; he’s already thinking you’ve had a nightmare. “What was it about?”
Your gaze moves from the bugs to him—his stare feels like he sees all of you, your bare soul; your skin and bones and every sin you’ve ever committed. Adler’s gaze has always felt like that and you’ve never known what to make of it. He’s so.. vague yet so on the dot every time he talks to you, so friendly yet so cruel. You aren’t sure if you should say anything. “Bell.” You feel a nudge against your arm and you blink for a moment before looking back at Adler, your hearing returning—you aren’t sure when it left.
“I just.. I had a nightmare.” You admit with a weak laugh, looking away nervously as your hands fidget in the back pockets of your jeans. Your weight shifts as silence fills the air between you two and you kind of want to reach over to strangle him a bit—you know he’s waiting for you to elaborate. “I couldn’t make any sense of it, honestly. It was a weird horrid mixture of Vietnam and.. this room. Televisions.. hm. I don’t know.” You mumble, trailing off before you look back at him. “Can I stay with you tonight?”
There’s an unreadable look in Adler’s eyes as he drops his cigarette, stepping on it and squashing it to put it out. It takes him a moment before he nods. “Sure, Bell. You can stay with me. We can go over some files, yeah? Take your mind off of it, since we have a job to do.”
A weird sense of calm washes over you from his words and you nod, letting out a relieved breath. “Yeah, we can do that.”

Kite Headcanons <3
ALRIGHT THIS ONE IS FOR MY FELLOW KITE STANS!!! all 5 of us!!!!
Tumblr media
No content warnings, sfw
-has the worst appetite known to man /hj
-he usually just eats soup
-he can easily be thrown off by the texture of certain foods (certified jello hater!)
-although, honestly, if he's hungry enough he'll eat anything.
-autism be damned, my boy can work a grill campfire.
-anxious as FUCK in restaurants. He's too awkward to order and will just s t a r e for too long unintentionally at the waitstaff.
-also will be awkward about starting his meal and will just hork it down when no one is looking. (Look, he grew up on the streets, eating fast so no one takes his food is just a hold over.)
-REALLY GOOD CANDID PHOTOS BUT DO NOT ASK THIS MAN TO POSE! HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING!
-you know that meme that's the person doing the half a heart with their hand and the other person has a thumbs up? ...yeah.
-ACTUALLY THAT BEING SAID he's really handsome when caught off guard, but when he's actually engaging in conversation with someone he's kinda funny looking? Like he'll suddenly be aware of how he's carrying himself and maintaining eye contact and he will over correct.
-This man has no game!!! This man can neither pull nor flirt! 29 years old and even the idea of holding hands gets him flustered.
-on top of this if he's romantically interested in someone he's really prone to just avoiding them.
-KITE AND CRAZY SLOTS IS JUST MANZAI! KITE IS THE STRAIGHT MAN AND CRAZY SLOTS IS THE FUNNY MAN! KITE SAYING "ah, bad roll" AND GRIPING ABOUT CRAZY SLOTS IS JUST A BIT TO HIM! HE THINKS IT'S HILARIOUS BUT NOBODY SEES THIS.
-dad jokes and puns all day everyday
-also he can actually be pretty chatty, like don't get me wrong when he's really focused he'll probably just shut up but during downtime? Around a campfire? He loves to spin a yarn or talk about his work.
-He also loves to hear about what others are passionate about!
-gets a general feel for people really quickly- he'll open up to people he gets good vibes off of pretty fast, but others he's more iffy on he may keep things cordial. This can, however, lead to snap judgements about people that might not be always correct.
-excellent pickpocket, now that he has a stable income through being a hunter he won't use this ability often...
-okay might do it to prank someone
-...or humble them.
-Met Ging when he was 15 and Ging was 18
-if he sets an alarm he somehow always manages to wake up just before it goes off
-hammock conoisseur 😌
-if he was in the real world he'd be Russian. (This is literally just based off of vibes and some edit an artist made of Kite running to Russian hardbass.)
-thinks it's really funny to say "have you considered..." to someone and when they ask him to elaborate he just says "...just... have you considered."
-loves sunflowers, loves sunflower seeds
-likes to keep a spare scarf handy in case someone needs it
-makes the crazy slots noise when he's really trying to concentrate
-favorite candy is saltwater taffy
-I like to imagine that he got the idea for crazy slots because of a boardwalk carnival in the town he grew up in. The carnies knew that Kite could win any of the games they had, no matter how rigged, it was uncanny.
-...probably used the plushies he won as pillows, maybe with the smaller ones he'd let his dogs play with.
-AND YES, HIS DOGS ALL HAD NAMES. ALEXEI, BORIS, SERGEI, PUSHKIN, FYODOR JUST TO NAME A FEW
-Favorite author is Dovstoevsky
-legitimately does not remember where he got his hat from, it's just kinda always been there, you know?
-he's not super focused on material goods and he doesnt really like receiving gifts (exceptions are made for anything handmade or a really cool rock.)
-...call him pretty and he'll fold

Authors note: had a problem with the tags so if you see this again sorry for the deja vu
Word count: 1461     WandaNat Masterlist     Marvel Masterlist    Kinktober

You watch with a smirk as both women struggle to remain still in your presence. Both wait obediently on their knees before you, squirming slightly as your gaze rakes over their naked bodies. They’re obviously desperate for you. Desperate for anything you’ll give them.
“Please Daddy” Wanda begs, pouting slightly as her eyes bore into yours.
“Please touch us” Natasha adds, letting her hands roam across her breasts.
You move closer to them, “How could I ever deny such pretty things like the two of you?”
You begin to undress and as their eyes take in your now bare upper torso, you smirk. Feeling their gaze linger on you you make a show of removing your pants but letting the boxers that conceal their favorite strap stay on for now.
You take a seat on the edge of the bed, grabbing a box from the bedside table as you do so, “Before we start, I have a surprise for each of you.”
Their eyes light up as they see the box and small smiles spread across their faces. And you look back to the women kneeling before you as you set the box down beside you.
“Wans, come here.” you command, patting your left knee.
Wanda obediently listens and straddles your leg, letting her core come in contact with your bare skin and you aren’t surprised to feel how wet she is. She barely manages to hold back a moan at the contact, but she stays still and awaits your next order.
Your eyes meet the vibrant green of the Russians, and you pat your other knee, “Come here Natty.”
She quickly stands, eager to join the Sokovian on your lap. Unlike Wanda, Natasha doesn’t hold back the moan that leaves her as she sits on your leg, and you find that she’s even wetter than your other girlfriend.
“Good girls” you praise, feeling arousal from each of them escape onto your thighs, “Now, close your eyes. Both of you.”
Despite being extremely curious they both listen and you smile at their obedience. Again you pick up the box, double checking that both your girlfriends had their eyes shut before you remove the lid. Both women tilt their heads in slight confusion as they find the smell of leather filling the air, the sound of rustling tissue paper accompanying it.
You pick up the first item, letting your thumb run over the cool leather and intricate stitches, “Wans darling, can you hold your hands out for me? Keep your eyes shut though.”
She nods and extends her hands towards you with an excited grin. You lay the item in her open palms, leaning in to kiss her cheek before pulling away. Your attention goes back to the box and you pick up the second one.
You take a moment to admire the shine of the leather, finding a subtle beauty in the stitchwork, “Ok Natty. Keep your eyes shut and hold out your hands.”
She follows your instructions, a smile of her own breaking out across her face as she feels the weight being laid in her grip. You kiss her cheek as well, chuckling as she blindly moves to try finding your lips with her own.
“Behave.” you gently chastise before giving into what she wants, letting your lips touch hers in a quick kiss. She giggles happily and you shake your head at her, despite her not being able to see it. Being fair you also quickly peck Wanda’s lips before leaning back, “Open your eyes my loves.”
Soft gasps leave them both as they finally lay eyes on their brand new collars, their first collars. They know they talked with you about getting them, but they had no idea when you would do so, nor did they know what they would look like.
You had chosen red leather for Wanda, knowing it was her favorite color and in black thread the word krolik(bunny) is embroidered. For Natasha you went with her signature black leather, red thread for the word kotenok(kitten).
“Do you like them?” you ask, though you’re sure you already know the answer
Wanda nods, “It’s perfect! Thank you!”
“I love it.” Natasha answers, a slight blush on her cheeks, “Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome. Let me put them on you?” They both nod and you quickly place the collars around their necks, careful that they aren’t too tight. “There. You both look so pretty.”
Wanda blushes, her hips unintentionally grinding against your thigh and Natasha sucks her bottom lip between her teeth, “Can you please touch us now daddy?”
“Are you needy kotenok(kitten)?” She nods, and you suddenly grab the ring of her collar, “Show me how needy, fuck yourself on my thigh.”
She whimpers at your words, slowly beginning to move her hips. The wetness of her core allows her to easily slide along your leg and you tense your muscles to help her have something solid to grind against. Her hands explore her upper torso as she moves, and as you watch her grope her own breasts you can’t hold back anymore.
You roughly grab her tits, relishing in the moan she releases as her hands grasp at your strong arms. You pinch her nipples and roll them between your thumbs and pointer fingers, nearly making her scream.
“Fuck, D-daddy!!” she pants, picking up the pace at which she humps you, “Feels so good…so good”
You smile, “Yeah, you love having my hands on you, don’t you?”
At those words Wanda can help but let out a whine, and she bucks her hips in order to get your attention, “Please Daddy. Wanna feel you too.”
“Of course krolik(bunny)” you tell her, removing one hand from Natasha in order to cup Wanda’s cheek. You slowly move it down her neck and tug on her collar, “Go ahead then, start moving just like Natty is.”
She eagerly complies, moaning as her arousal smears across your thigh. As she picks up her pace you reward her by letting your hand grope her. She arches into you with a whimper and her hands find percase on your abs to help her continue her grinding. You lean back slightly, allowing yourself to take in the view of both beautiful women.
“Look at the two of you. Such eager little whores for me.” you rasp out. Wanda’s nails rake across your stomach as Natashas dig into your arm. They both moan as the movement of their hips begins to get sloppy, “
You lean forward, going back and forth between the two of them as you pepper kisses against the column of their necks, sucking marks into their collarbones. Their whimpers in your ears turn you on incredibly and you find yourself desperate to hear them cry out your name.
Your hands move to cup their asses and both of them nearly fall forward into you as you pull them across your tensed thighs. To help keep them upright they each wrap an arm around you. Wandas is around your waist as she leans into you, and Natashas wraps around your shoulder. Between the two of them you notice their intertwined hands and you can help but smile at their cuteness.
“Gonna cum…Daddy please, can I cum?” Natasha rasps out, her nails digging into your shoulder so intensely that you’re sure she’s broken skin, “Please?”
She shudders as you kiss her jaw, and you let your teeth tug her earlobe before whispering, “Cum for me kotenok(kitten).”
“Aah!! Y/n!!” she shouts out, and you hiss as she marks up your entire shoulder blade with her nails. As she comes down she slumps against you, letting her head fall against your shoulder as you hold her with your free arm, and you rub soothing circles into her skin.
Wanda moans, feeling herself reaching her own limits, “D-daddy…please! Please..please..please”
  “Please what baby?”
“Lemme cum! Please!” she begs, her grip on you tightening
You lean in, “Cum for me krolik(bunny)”
She throws her head back as she moans, “Y/n!!”
And as a wetness comes to splash across your abdomen, soaking your boxers and thigh, you have little time to marvel at this feat Wanda accomplished before you feel a set of teeth sink themselves into your opposite shoulder.
“Fuck! Natalia!” you shout, partially in arousal and partly in anger
“ ‘m sorry” she mumbles, nuzzling into the wound she’s caused, “Couldn’t help it.”
You sigh, looking back to Wanda, “Look at this mess you made” She blushes under your gaze
Natasha smirks from your shoulder where she watches, “You have no idea what that does to Daddy. You’re in for it now, she’s not going to stop until you do it again and again and again.”

Eddie, my love. Eddie Munson x Witch!Reader
Tumblr media
Chapter 1- An Unnecessary Death
Summary: Reader is reluctant about the mission, only to be met with tragedy after tragedy.
Author’s note: hey everyone! This is the first chapter of a little series I got going on. Here’s the prologue https://tsumamibaddie.tumblr.com/post/688728971241816064/prologue-to-eddie-my-love-eddie-munson-x Just to remind you, the reader has Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch’s powers but she doesn’t quite know how powerful she is yet. But she will soon 👀. This takes place in episode 9. The next chapter will be a bit more exciting and have a lot more going on in it. I hope you enjoy it! I also don’t consent to anyone translating, copying, or posting my story elsewhere.
Warnings: Angst, character death. Sadness. First signs of grief. Violence (but nothing too bad.) 18+ Please!
You paced around the park. You knew you shouldn’t have listened to them. You knew you should’ve went with them. You were deep in thought when Erica grabbed your arm.
“Can you please shut up?! Your giving me anxiety with all your pacing and mumbling back and forth.”
“I’m sorry. I’m just worried.”
“They’ll be fine. They did this like a hundred times.”
Yes. They did. But it wasn’t them you were concerned about. Ever since Nancy said we had to go back to the upside down, you have had this feeling in the pit of your stomach. It settled like a boulder in your stomach. Something terrible was going to happen. You used your powers to try to get a feel of what was about to transpire when you couldn’t quite place it.
“Or are you worried about your man?” She said with a smile, eyebrows wiggling in the same way she always did when she poked fun at your attraction to the only person on your mind. Eddie Munson. It was strange really. In such a short amount of time, how quickly you began to fall for him. It started shortly after finding him in Reefer Rick’s boathouse with the rest of the crew. Considering you had a couple classes and some projects together, You didn’t quite know him before. Only seeing him around Hawkins and at school, driving that beat-up van like he was a bat out of hell. It was when the crew decided it would be good for you to stay with Eddie, in case anything ever happened, you’d be there to protect him.
You playfully rolled your eyes and smiled back at Erica. “And what if it isn’t ?”
“Then you’re lying.”
You scoffed. “I’m not lying.”
“Liar liar, pants on fire.”
You walked to the wire rocket and leaned on. “Okay, so what if I am a bit worried about him? That’s completely normal. He’s my friend and…I care about him.”
“I just didn’t think he’d be your type.”
You breathed out a laugh. “And what is my type?”
“Anything but Eddie. I think it’s sweet though. There’s someone for everyone.”
You looked away and shook your head. You couldn’t get rid of this dreaded feeling that something was going to happen.
“I’m going to check on Lucas and Max. Think you’ll be okay for five minutes?”
“I traveled 300 feet in an elevator and fought Russian commi’s. I think I’ll be fine.”
You threw your hands up in defense. “Well excuse me for asking.”
“You’re excused.”
You laughed and walked towards Victor Creel’s house. Although it was spring, the air was cool tonight. It settled on your cheeks and hands. As you turned the door knob and entered the house, you stopped for a second. The hair on your arms had risen. You focused your hearing on both the house and outside. There was nothing for a split second until you heard the sound of a car. You walked back to the front of the house and opened the door. Only to see one of Jason’s lackeys running after Erica. Your eyes widened and your feet moved to run before you could even think to move them. A thousand thoughts were running through your head all at once. All you knew, was the you had to catch up to them before something terrible happens. You seen the crazed look in their eyes at the Army supply store. Especially Jason’s. With one look into their mind, you knew they were consumed with vengeance. With a one track mind on finding Lucas and Erica. They were capable of anything. Before Andy could tackle Erica, you raised your hand out to trip him. You dragged him over to you, with him facing down. You flipped him over, grass and dirt marking his face. “What the hell?!?” He yelled. You looked at him with anger and disgust. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?! She’s just a kid!”
“She knows where Eddie is! Lucas too. We seen the yearbook photo of the Hellfire Club. You must be in it too. That’s how you got these powers isn’t it?! You and that freak-“ you used your power to begin to strangle him. The dark purple color wrapping around his neck and torso. “Choose. Your words… wisely.” His face became blotchy, veins poking out of his forehead and neck. “You’re too late anyway.” He rasps. “Jason’s already got to Lucas. By the time you get back, he’ll be done for.” Your eyes widen. Tears threatening to escape, you look at Erica. Fear swimming in her eyes.
That’s when the ground begins to shake. A thunderous roar ripples through the ground and sky. A dark red shines through the cracks in the ground and begins to tear. You lift Erica up before anything else happens. The ground splits open, swallowing Andy whole. Erica screams out, “we have to get back to Lucas and Max.”
———————-
By the time you got there, the house had cracked into two. The same dark red that shone through the ground, had taken over the entire house. You slowly settle Erica down to the ground, while you land with a thud. You run into the house and up the stairs. You and Erica yell out for both Lucas and Max. You both run up the stairs, taking two steps at a time. You see Lucas on the ground, cradling Max in his arms. The tears stream down his face while blood streams down hers. Her arms and legs flailed and broken in various places. Her eyes practically white. You look at Lucas and drop to the ground. He yells at Erica to go get help. She runs out of the house.
Lucas looks at you with desperation in his eyes.
“Can you fix her?”
You look into his with your heart aching. You don’t quite know the depth and magnitude of your powers yet, only having had them for a few years. You didn’t use them often in fear of someone catching you, dragging you back to the prison you once were in.
“I-I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?!”
“I can try.”
You hold your hand up in front of her face. You try to search her brain, see if you can feel any type of life left. You begin to sob, which triggers Lucas.
“Do you see anything?!”
The tears puddle in your eyes. You don’t know what to say. Or rather, how to say that there’s nothing there anymore. Just dark, empty, nothingness.
“I-I don’t feel anything. I’m so sorry Lucas.”
He sat there in silence, still talking to Max, as if to get any type of response from her. You had felt something terrible was going to happen. You thought this was it, but there was still a dreaded feeling, pulling at your heart strings. You stop for a second, you swear you heard the faint and distant scream of Dustin yelling….
Your eyes widen and shakily whisper, “Eddie…”
Lucas looks at you for a second and nods. As if to say, it was okay to go. Wasting no time, you run out of the house. You lift your hands out, dark purple orbs shooting coming out of your hands and fly to Eddie’s place.
————-
Once you get there, you don’t know what to expect. The tears are still coming out, you roughly wipe them away. You have a one track mind and can only think of Eddie. You knew something happened to him. You knew it in your heart, but didn’t want it to be so. When you seen Nancy, Robin, Steve and Dustin come out of Eddie’s place, you picked up your speed from a fast walk, to run.
“Where is Eddie?”
You look at everyone. You knew from the moment that they wouldn’t look you in the eye, that your heart began to tear. “Where is he?!” You said, stern but strained due to the tears and fear wrapping around your throat. Still no reply. You move towards to the dark red tear in the ground, oozing out black tentacles. Dustin moved towards you, “Y/N…”
You ignored him. Steve reached out to you and you pushed his hand away. You could barely see them with the tears in your eyes.
“I want to see him.”
“No…you don’t.” Dustin said, he looked torn apart. You knew how much Eddie meant to him, and he knew how much you started to care for him too. It was all too much. He’s gone. He’s really gone. You walked over to the tear in the ground. You assumed he’s still down there.
“You didn’t even think to bring his body?”
“Y/N…” Steve said, “we barely made it out alive.”
“But that’s the difference isn’t it.” Your sadness quickly being replaced with anger.
“You’re alive….and he isn’t…” you began to sob again. “I should’ve went with you. I should’ve protected him like I did at the lake.”
“You can’t blame yourself for that, Y/N.” Nancy said.
You stopped and looked her. You couldn’t believe she said that. Of course you were to blame. It’s simple, if you were there, you could’ve prevented Eddie from meeting his demise. You thought back to hours earlier. How you sat down next to him. Feeling the cool spring air settle on your cheeks and hands. How he wrapped you up in his arms and kissed you on your forehead. “Thank you for being here for me. Even though we sorta knew each other before this, I’m glad to have met you. To have you in my life.” You looked into his big, beautiful, brown eyes. You smiled, “me too. You know,” you say while picking a piece of fabric from your jeans, “after all of this, maybe we can grab a bite to eat.” He smiled at you, “I’d like that. But, I’m still a wanted man. Really living up to the Munson name after all.” You laughed and looked him in the eyes, “don’t worry about that. “ he looked at you with eyebrows furrowing, “I have it all under control.”
You don’t know the extent of your powers but you did remember that one time where you had the prison guards to turn on one another, giving you enough time to escape. You could get into peoples minds, make them see things, hear things. You didn’t disclose that to anyone, not even Eddie. You didn’t want anyone to fear you. You had planned to make the murder allegations go away. You’d do anything for Eddie. And you’ll do anything to bring him back.

Wrong On The Money (51)
part 51 of 55 | 1894 words | Teen+
Blackmail fic on Ao3 | on tumblr
Summary:
Robin can’t believe what she’s hearing.  That Eddie, who knows a thing or two (hundred) about being treated like a freak, who’d fought with them in the trenches of saving the world from unknown horrors, would do something like that. To Steve.
You'll notice I have at least an estimate for the final chapter count now. I always love seeing notes like this on other fics, where the author is like "Okay I think it's just one more chapter guys" and you glance up to the fic info on the Ao3 page and there's definitely like, five more. We'll see how well my optimism ages.
Anyway, have some protective Robin rage from her POV!
51.
The phone rings late a few nights after Starcourt, jolting Robin out of an uneasy sleep. She shoots out of bed, racing for it before her parents wake up. She manages to get downstairs and down the hall in just a few more rings and snatch it up.
“Hello?” she whispers.
“Robin?”
Her hands clench on the plastic handset at the sound of Steve Harrington’s voice coming down the line. “Steve!? What’s wrong, are you okay? Did something happen?”
“‘M fine,” Steve rushes to assure her, stumbling over his words. “I’m fine. I just. . . . I’m calling to say I’m sorry. For dragging you into this shit, 's my fault because you were working with me, and Dustin can’t talk quiet worth a damn, and. . . . I’m so, so fucking sorry.”
Okay, not so much stumbling as slurring. Okay. Steve Harrington is calling her drunk in the middle of the night. Sure, that’s a relatively normal thing to happen after . . . everything.
“Have you been drinking?” Robin hisses. “You’re drinking with a head injury?”
“I’m, ‘m drinkin’ by myself,” Steve mumbles, and he sounds so young when he says it. She wants to crawl through the phone line and hold his hand.
“Where are your parents?”
There’s a long silence on the other end of the line, and then Steve says, “On a business trip.”
“Still? I thought you called them.”
“Yeah, they. . . . It’s an important trip. Meeting. Thing, I d’know.”
Robin chews on her bottom lip. On one hand, she barely knows Steve, really. She has no idea what his home life is like, but it doesn’t seem great that his parents know about his concussion, broken ribs, etc. but still didn't bother to come home and look after him. That’s what parents are supposed to do.
On the other, this is the guy who loudly drew the Russians’ attention so they took him for interrogation instead of her. And even if that was plain old sexism on the Russians' part, he’d still run his mouth even after being pummeled, insisting that she wouldn’t tell them anything. They’d almost pulled off his fingernails, for fuck’s sake.
“Steve,” Robin says firmly. “I can get to your place in fifteen minutes on my bike, okay? I’m gonna hang up and do that, and can you do me a favor while I do?”
“Of course Robs, anything,” Steve slurs easily, and goddammit. This dingus is going to end up being her best friend, isn’t he?
“Drink a glass of water for me while you’re waiting, okay?”
“Okay,” he replies. She can practically hear him nodding, which also can't be good for the already bruised brain knocking around in there.
She gets there in under ten, discarding her bike halfway up the driveway and darting up to the front door in case any of the neighbors are awake at this hour. It’s unlocked, and for a moment she’s frozen with terror at that fact—what if the Russians are back and they’ve tracked Steve down? What if they’re here?
But then she goes inside and finds Steve in the most bland foyer she’s ever seen, sitting on the carpeted stairs with his head in one hand and a half empty glass of water in the other. He looks up at her approach, eye and cheek and lip still swollen. It looks like he got chewed on and spit back out, and all she can think of is how small his voice had sounded over the phone.
Mr. Popular, Mr. Cool, cries on her shoulder while telling her how sorry he is again. He tells her about Nancy’s friend Barb and how she died in an alternate version of his pool because he’d thrown a stupid party. He tells her about bullshit  and like we didn’t kill Barb and Nancy leaving him for Jonathan Byers until he’s hiccuping—
When he throws up on her shoes he apologizes for that too, and she womanhandles him upstairs to his room and the attached bathroom with her thoughts racing.
Steve Harrington used to be a total douchebag. She hadn’t been wrong about that. But this is a totally different Steve, stumbling and full of guilt and a hefty portion of his dad’s liquor cabinet. This is, actually, a lot like Steve on Russian truth drugs. (There’s even a bathroom this time too, Steve hunched over the toilet and Robin trying to keep his hair out of harm’s way.) This is the boy who doesn’t treat her like a freak for liking girls instead of guys. The only person she’s ever told her secret, and isn’t holding it over her head the way she’s always had nightmares about. (Her nightmares have plenty of new material to work with now, anyway.)
He’s all alone, and not taking very good care of himself when left to his own devices after a buttload of fresh trauma, from the looks of it. So.
Robin is going to be here for him as much as she needs. Not because she owes him or anything, but because this Steve deserves to have someone relentlessly in his corner. And since his parents seem to have abdicated that responsibility, that someone will just have to be her.
-
Robin can’t believe what she’s hearing.
That Eddie, who knows a thing or two (hundred) about being treated like a freak, who’d fought with them in the trenches of saving the world from unknown horrors, would do something like that. To Steve.
But there’s also Wayne Munson, who she knows now. Not as well as Steve, who looks more comfortable in this house than she’d ever seen him back in his parents’ place, but he’s a good person. A kind man, someone she can’t fault Steve for helping to save.
The two things don’t fit in her head, and she has to pace while trying to wrap her brain around it because otherwise she feels like she might explode.
“Okay,” she says, finally wheeling on him with a glare. “Okay. So you knowingly let some guy blackmail you, homophobically and hypocritically, because you thought he was hot and Dustin was sad?”
“Well—”
“And,” she interrupts shrilly, “you didn’t tell me. You hid not having enough money to eat—”
“I still ate,” Steve protests. “And I learned to make all those casseroles, you love those!”
Robin storms back over to the couch. There aren’t any decorative pillows like there had been at his parents house, because the Munsons don’t go in for that extra frills sort of shit. She snatches one of the cushions instead and thumps him on the head with it, making him drop his pizza in his lap.
“Aw shit, toppings side down. . . .”
“Steve,” she snaps.
He looks up, holding the rescued slice in his hand and licking a glob of red sauce he’d scraped off his jeans off his other thumb. “I didn’t tell you,” he agrees, voice heavy. “You would’ve tried to talk me out of it and I couldn’t just. . . . Not after Barb.”
“Just because Nancy said so doesn’t mean what happened to Barb was your fault, Steve,” Robin reminds him. She's about ready to throw the entire cushion at him in frustration because they’ve had so many talks about that now. Has none of it stuck?! “But guilt or not, that doesn’t make what Eddie did okay!”
“I know,” Steve says quickly. He’s got those big damn puppy dog eyes that all but bleed sincerity. “I know it’s not okay. And that it’s not my fault about Barb.” There’s pepperoni and veggies on his leg; he starts picking them up and putting them back on his pizza. “I didn’t know that if I’d done something different, she might not have died. But I knew that about this, okay? Eddie was working himself to death and it still wasn’t enough, and I knew I could help.”
The without getting the shit kicked out of me goes unspoken, but Robin knows his track record with that and can read between the lines. It’s almost definitely the easiest time he’s had saving a life since 1983.
But still.
"Blackmail isn't the cornerstone of a stable loving relationship, Steve!"
“I know.” Steve sighs, and goes to rake a hand through his hair before remembering just in time that it’s covered in pizza sauce and grease. “I know. . . . We’ve saved each other's lives though, Rob. And we’ve talked it all out, okay?”
She frowns, squeezing the couch cushion in frustration. “Not okay.”
“Come on. I know it was a shitty thing to do, and so does Eddie. You forgave me for years of being a douchebag, can’t you forgive him for this one thing?”
One thing. One thing, when said thing was threatening to out someone? Holding it against their throat, against Steve’s throat, like a broken bottle with actual intent to spill blood? How could she possibly, possibly not hold that against Eddie, when just the thought of it made her adrenaline spike and pulse race because being forcibly outed in Hawkins fucking Indiana is literally her own worst nightmare?!
Or, well. One of.
Steve is still giving her the damn puppy dog eyes. He looks so sad, whereas he’d looked so happy a moment ago, in a dumb, goofy, sappy way that she’d never quite seen from him about any of the parade of girls he’d gone out with since after Starcourt. It’s almost as though he thinks his epic quest to find The One (she can never help but crack a smile when she thinks of it as ‘finding his Suzie,’ and she’s upset right now, dammit, this is no time for grinning) has finally come to an end.
With Eddie Munson, who until ten minutes ago she would have said was a nerdy but perfect match for him.
And, okay. She doesn’t want to be the reason Steve looks sad. He’s old enough to make his own decisions, and if he seems happy with them then it’s not up to her to rip that happiness to shreds, even over perfectly reasonable concerns.
After a long moment Robin drops back into the couch next to him, clutching the cushion to her chest. “I still wish you’d told me. I would’ve shared my food with you. I would’ve known not to bum off of yours, and forced you to take gas money!”
“Robs, no,” Steve groans, then shoves a big bite of his messed up pizza slice in his mouth and keeps talking around it. “I told you a million times, I don’t want to be treated like a taxi driver.”
As if she doesn’t know for a fact that he threatens Dustin and the rest of the kids that he’s going to start charging for rides at least once a week. He’d explained to her once—after a night hanging out with Argyle and the rest of the older Hawkins crew, and everything had been hilarious at the time—that he doesn’t want the little shits to take it for granted and act as entitled as he used to.
Steve Harrington is too fucking good for his own good these days, even if he is a total dingus about it a lot of the time.
And she’ll deal with Eddie later. Right now she’s hanging out with her best friend, and that’s far more important than putting the fear of Robin into a skinny metalhead.

🌱, 🌠?
🌱 An unreleased/not-yet-crowdfunding game I’m looking forward to.
I think at least once a month about On Mighty Wheels, a historical LARP for five players and one facilitator that I played at my local indie con back in 2018.
It's a game about a family (grandfather, mother, daughter, son, daughter's "good friend") caught up in the events of the October Revolution in Moscow—about the inexorable force of history, and the individual people who make up that flow.
It begins in the Winter Palace as the shelling starts with the family standing around someone who has betrayed them and a gun in someone's hand, and then flashes back to three days before to see how the revolution built and how we wound up here (and, once caught up, what happens after).
There's also the very neat conceit that the family (or its surviving members) are presenting their experience of the Revolution as a play as part of the citizen theatre movement of the 20s in the USSR, which opens up a bunch of room to think about the way we remember, and rewrite, and censor, and omit.
I sat in on a couple of sessions (this conceit makes it very audience friendly) and it was so interesting to see which parts of the theatrical metaphor groups played into or took advantage of.
Dr Melody Watson (the author) has been revising it for the last couple of years to reshape it into a game you can run without having done a PhD in Russian history—I can't wait to see how it turns out.
🌠 A game with a mechanic I love.
Staying with On Mighty Wheels, it had only one formal mechanic.
Each character had, ala Dream Askew or other Belonging Outside Belonging games, a list of moves that they could make ("put a gun in someone's hand", "call on an old comrade for help") by spending a token.
Unlike those games, this was a single token economy.
That token—a copy of China Mieville's October, a history of the revolution—passed from hand to hand, given to another player when you made a move and so circulating through the play.
But if needed you could use the conventions of the play (a monologue, a direct aside to the audience, stepping into the spotlight, etc) to reveal your character's true feelings to the audience and so steal the token.
(Of course, being polite, we would almost always pick the person we'd stolen from to return it to after making the necessary move).
Wildly cool stuff.

Fic Writing 20 Questions
Thanks for the tags @khorazir and @raina-at
How many works do you have on AO3?
13
2. What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
268,623
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Sherlock (BBC). I may try my hand at a Merlin fic in the next year, but we’ll see ...
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Beautiful Pictures
A Week in November
Lines in the Sand
The Man with the Cartier Frames
That Time of Year
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I love getting comments, so it’s the least I can do (even if it takes a few days). I love when authors respond to my comments, so it’s only fair.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Like many of the people answering these questions, I don’t write angsty endings. I considered it for Jam (I almost didn’t include the epilogue) but I love a happy ending.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All my fics have happy endings. If I had to pick one as “happiest”, I’d say The Man With the Cartier Frames.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have not, luckily. I’ve had a weird comment or two where I’ve thought “why did you tell me that”, but nothing super negative.
9. Do you write smut?
Not really? I’ve written some mature scenes that allude to things, but don’t go into detail.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No. I have particular objections, but I doubt I ever will.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, Lines in the Sand has been translated into French and That Time of Year into Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t. I don’t object to the concept, but I’m not sure I’d be a great collaborator given my current writing style. I think I’m better at betaing which gives me a way to work with other fic writers.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
This is really tough. I feel like it’s okay if your “all time” favourite ship changes every five or ten years. I mean, I am a very different person at 40 than I was at 25. My favourite to write is definitely Johnlock—they have a great dynamic and are both really interesting characters in their own rights. So, they are definitely up there. The other ship that comes to mind in terms of those that have really stood the test of time for me is Goren/Eames from Law & Order:CI (a very small fandom). Goren has a lot of Sherlockian traits and Eames is just incredibly cool (and both actors are gorgeous, which doesn’t hurt!).  I discovered Merlin in the last year or two and really like Merthur (honestly, I also really like Mergwenthur which I never thought would be my thing, but Gwen is so lovely), but it’s too early to tell if that will last long enough to be on my all time list!
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Corsi, my NHL Johnlock AU. I have a couple chapters written, but I started it a long time ago and my writing style has changed a fair bit since then. I think I’d want to go back and rewrite the first chapter, but that seems like a waste … so, instead, I will just leave it to languish.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I write Parentlock really well. I have young kids, so it’s relatively easy for me to make kids read age appropriate (which they often don’t in stories, be they fic or published). I hope I am also able to convey that delicate balance that parents feel—namely adoring their kids with every once of your being while wanting to throttle them.  Basically, I think I can write believable kids and believable parents.
I also think I am okay at creating cases, mainly because I become a bit obsessed with making the pieces fit.  I like internal consistency!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I can’t plot out a fic well enough that I can post anything before it’s done. Which means, that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to write a truly long fic (say longer than 50K words).  To have the motivation to write something that long, I think I would need the dopamine hit from posting and getting feedback. But, I just can’t see me ever posting a fic before it’s completely written, because of how often I go back and revise as I write. Particularly for fics with any sort of case—I’ll have the loose parameters of the case set out, but the details won’t emerge until I write. Which may mean I have to go back and edit earlier content to make those details work (internal consistency!). Even things like John’s work schedule or the timing of a phone call or what time Rosie gets out of school may change a half dozen times as I write to make the other pieces work.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I think it’s fine, but it’s best if you have a half-decent knowledge of that language. The only language I would use is French, should that ever come up.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
X-Files (this also seems to be a common theme)
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Ugh. This is an impossible question. I really like Beneath the Surface—I love epistolary fics and I think I did pretty well with text exchanges in that one. I am also pretty proud of Jam. So, I suppose those would be my faves.
Hmmmm, I think I am late to the game here so anyone interested in doing this, consider yourself tagged!

so it turns out you dunno as much about star trek as i assumed you did (i seen you reblog a few posts about it and thought you were a bigger fan). and tho star trek is like a big ol' franchise, for that osmosis meme, i'm sending you star trek and you can do with that what you will <3
You know what Sapphire I'm going to really try and flex my brain muscles for this one! I'm gonna see if I can do the whole franchise! Welcome to A Complete History of Star Trek, as told by someone who's seen the new films, like three of the old films, and a couple episodes of the original series, and is otherwise getting all of this from their friends and people they follow on tumblr!
We start with the original star trek! It's the one everyone thinks of when they think of star trek, with kirk, spock, bones, and all them lot! It's about the crew of a spaceship in the far future who go around exploring different planets and meeting new alien species. This also appears to be the premise of every other star trek show.
Kirk is the captain of the spaceship. I have it on good authority that despite what fans and the newer installments will try to make you think, he is in fact not an annoying womanising guy but is a very nice young man who respects women (and is maybe bisexual???) good for him!
The crew also includes his second in command, Spock, who is very logical except when him and Kirk are having gay moments. Then there's Bones, who is a doctor and talks a lot about being a doctor. There's Uhura, who seems to be kind of a girlboss and is in charge of... I want to say communications? I think she was part of the first interracial kiss ever shown on tv or something like that, which is pretty cool! good on you star trek! There's also a delightful russian man named Chekov, who was my favourite part of the bits and pieces I've seen, and a guy called Sulu, who is. there. I know nothing about this man.
The show is an episodic monster of the week show, where there's a new alien/threat of some kind in each episode. These threats include alien warriors called klingons, fluffy aliens called tribbles that can multiply infinitely, and a hive mind called the borg. dear god I am really hoping the borg is a star trek thing and not like battlestar galactica. A lot of the episodes are very horny, like the one where spock has to fuck someone or he'll literally die. This is despite it being made in the 60s when being horny wasn't allowed on tv, so good on you again star trek!
They also made some films based on star trek. The first one isn't very good, the second is about a villain called khan and is great! Spock dies in it, but don't worry, he comes back in the next movie! How? Great question, don't ask me. I think kirk's son also dies in one of these movies? Does kirk have a son? Did I fever dream that?
The most important film is the one where they go back in time to the 80s to save the whales. This was my favourite of the ones I saw, but I feel like nerds might hate it. It seems too fun.
After the original series they made star trek the next generation, which is all about patrick stewart as a new ship captain called picard. Much like kirk, he also has a second in command, but his second command is very impulsive and hot headed instead of being logical, so they have kind of the opposite dynamic. At one point, picard and kirk got to meet each other in one of the films.
Picard's crew includes a robot called data, who everyone loves!! Even I love him, and I've never met this man! He's a robot, and apparently he often comes across very autistic and/or aroace, so he's really racking up points with me! Other crew members include geordi laforge, who is besties with data and is blind and wears a visor that is presumably a seeing aid of some kind, and a klingon who's not evil like the other klingons!
After the next generation came voyager! This was the first star trek show with a lady captain, which was very exciting! Her name is Janeway and Voyager is mostly about straightbaiting the audience with her and her boy best friend (and also maybe time travel?)
Voyager was followed by Deep Space Nine, which was different to the previous star treks because it was set on a space station instead of a ship. It had many characters, one of whom was an alien called Odo!
Then they made Enterprise, which was also different to all the previous star treks because it was a prequel (presumably about the original crew of the enterprise) I don't think people liked it.
Speaking of things people don't like, they made a bunch of reboot films in the 2000s and 2010s! From what I remember of them I liked them quite a bit, but this seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion. They are very different from the original series that they're based on and don't characterise Kirk correctly and also benedict cumberbatch is playing a character who was originally played by an indian guy which is pretty weird, but at least they have a banging score courtesy of michael giacchino! What happened to that guy anyway, I feel like he hasn't had a memorable score in years. Come back michael. we miss you.
In the years since the reboots they have also made a few more shows, such as a prequel about a young picard, an animated series called lower decks which is more comedic than the live action shows, and a show called brave new worlds, which is the current series! They had a trans character for a bit but they got killed off, which people were very upset about.
and that's it. that's what star trek is!

ok i'm curious to hear your thoughts: how many outfits do you think he has and how often does he update his wardrobe? does he have 6000 pairs of cowboy boots or 6? that kind of thing
image is sooo important to him... I think he values appearance because it gives off a sense of capability. being a major at 20 is practically unheard of so I think he was meticulous about his presentation to convince his detractors that he was deserving of respect regardless of his age. no one can say he doesn't look the part. he wants it to be clear that he is taking the rank seriously and his favourable treatment is more than plain nepotism. we are told in mgs3 how deeply he treasures his beret, which is THE symbol of his ability. he earned the right to wear it after completing spetsnaz training (or did he?? maybe he got special boy fast tracking leniency privileges... either way the beret is a status symbol that indicates his superiority over regular troops). he's eager to prove himself not just for personal validation but also because securing that role as major allows him access to all the privileges that come with it like idk authority, information, clearance for certain areas etc. then he can be a more efficient spy yay
more under the cut because I cannot take your entire dashboard up
he is extremely observant and detail oriented, so he's going to be very particular about the way he looks. fastidious cat and all that too hehe
obviously there is a heavy western influence on his style but he gravitates towards the fancier clothes instead of plaid shirts and jeans. I think he would turn his nose up at fringed shirts and chaps and stuff like that because they lack ELEGANCE and NOBILITY. he dresses more like the town doctor than a working rancher. when he's not in uniform he chooses to wear formal, traditional clothes like waistcoats and suits. I actually don't really like his outfit in mgsv for this reason lolol like the undone top buttons are so NOT ocie imo... who da heck is this guy...
although after that excerpt I posted we know now that he is a sweaty mess. he's used to the cold and it's hot in the seychelles so he's got to have a little relief. that's my explanation anyway (real true fact)
I think his wardrobe is likely to be made up of classic, timeless items like the suits and waistcoats etc... high quality but not designer... fancy but not flashy... it's funny actually you'd think he would be louder and bolder with his fashion what with his showy ways but he isn't. he's got a gentlemanly thing going on LOL even the accessories like the pocket watch and tie pin in mgs1 and the moustache... #classy
idk why but the thought of him as a young spetsnaz soldier attaching spurs to his standard issue boots is so funny. he went out of his way to get those. he sat there in his quarters all excited and fastened spur straps around each thoroughly polished boot. he would've had to take the time to twice assemble all the metal parts together. he chose to jingle all for the cool factor. everyone knows you don't have a horse ocelot -_-
then he got a horse and all was right again :) cowboy boots gained. spurs acceptable. I think if he's going to have anything elaborate it's going to be the boots. not vibrant colours or anything tacky but I can see his boots having some patterns... maybe still quite subtle but intricate on closer inspection. nothing too wacky. he needs to be taken as seriously as a russian cowboy can be
there is no better opportunity than now to mention the note in the mgs1 artbook that says he has "silky silver hair." the most beautiful interrogator in all of russia... there's that instruction kojima gave yoji shinkawa too during the production of mgsv - to make ocelot the most beautiful (he didn't know how to make a middle aged man beautiful so gave him long eyelashes lolol). kojima also described him in mgs3 as handsome. he is kind of a pretty boy but in a different way from kaz... ocelot's like an old fashioned dandy and kaz is a sunkissed baywatch magazine model... or something like that.....
to me he's going for like a dashing rogue sort of thing lolol like he's well-groomed, dressed all fancy and thinks he's noble but his haughty attitude, deceitfulness and nefarious scheming ways put him in the bastard scoundrel category
ENJOY MY WALL OF TEXT TY FOR ASKING <3

20 Question Fic Writer Game
Thanks for tagging me @chickiefoo!
How many works do you have on AO3? Today, 450. Probably will go up in the next few days, though, because I enjoy posting daily when I can and I have some new content (vs new chapters to published stuff)
What is your AO3 word count? 2,177,884 🤯🤯🤯
What fandoms do you write for? Primarily, I write for the Witcher, but I spent the last year writing for Avatar, the Last Airbender. Honestly, I've written for a number of fandoms, but most of it was when I first got an AO3 account in high school and college, before I stopped writing for several years. The Witcher got me back into it, and since then, it's only been that and atla. And maybe possibly the DND movie a little bit, but I don't actually have any words on paper, so I don't think it counts.
Tumblr media
What are your top five fics by kudos? 1. Fire and Water (atla) 2. A Second Chance at Family (atla) 3. Five Times Geralt Frotted Against Jaskier's Ass and One Time He Fucked It (TWN) 4. 5 Dinners with the Lioness (Plus 1 with the Lion Cub) (TWN) 5. Death Rites (atla) Kinda funny that I have more Witcher Video Game (esp Iorveth/Roche) fics than any others and yet none make the top 5, but honestly, I think it's just because atla and TWN have bigger fandoms with more people. And technically, I do mostly write a rare pair... (they have 744 works now... but 146 of those are mine...)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to, but honestly, I get overwhelmed really easily and I figure people would prefer if I focus my effort on writing vs trying to respond if it's a choice between the two, so...
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmm. See, the thing is, endings are.... not something I get to that often. But the first thing that came to mind was an atla fic where Zuko gets his hands chopped off and his feet fucked up and then has to learn how to recover. In general, though, I have to write endings that are at least hopeful, if not necessarily happy.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Uh. I don't even know how to measure this???? Maybe Bitter Victories (Witcher)? That one starts out really angsty, but ends in the afterlife with a happily ever after (but like, kind of a bittersweet one bc they're alone in their afterlife, all their friends still alive).
Do you get hate on fics? Unfortunately, I had a fic fairly recently that I really did get a lot and that was rough. But also, when I mentioned it in the author's notes, people were really, really sweet and supportive in response. So if you get hate: delete it and seek out validation from people, because you deserve to know that the hate is bullshit. And also, the back button exists and if you're old enough to be on the internet, you're old enough to know how to use it.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I have 103 Explicit fics on AO3, so... yeah. Um. The kinky kind???
Do you write crossovers? Not really? Well, I guess it depends on how you define it. I do a lot of like, crossovers between different Witcher mediums - but it's all still the same universe. I dunno that I'd ever branch into doing a whole different universe (though, just saying, Ciri's power was made for universe hopping).
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge. I hope not?
Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! It's so cool! I had a fic get translated into Russian.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Not really. When I was 9 or 10, my bestie and I would write together, but honestly, I like having full control over everything and my muse is unpredictable. It's best to just work alone than to have someone waiting on something I can't promise I'll deliver. That said, my process really depends on being able to talk through and brainstorm ideas with other people. It's very much collaborative, but I - or rather, my muse - has ultimate control.
What's your all-time favourite ship? Probably Iorveth/Roche (Witcher)? I mean, I've written an awful lot of them and they're the kind of characters where even if the story isn't about them, there's still a regard between them, you know?
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? I like to believe that I will one day finish ALL my WiPs... as much of a pipe dream as that sometimes seems... (I have over 300 WiPs)
What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good at character voice? And I'm decent at porn. Uh, I guess my muse is really inventive, too? And I certainly have no shortage of ideas.
What are your writing weaknesses? Description is definitely the biggest one. I am not a visual person AT ALL and so I don't really think to describe the scene much??? And I really can only give details if I've actually like, built out the floorplan or made the character design or something. There's a reason I build a lot of settings and characters in the Sims.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I mean, I've done it, I think it can be important for a scene - but I also think it's important for the reader to know what's being said, so I usually put it in brackets next to the other language, so you don't have to jump to footnotes or something.
First fandom you wrote for? BBC Merlin, I think
Favourite fic you've ever written? You expect me to choose ONE!?!?!?! (Honestly, it depends on my mood.)
This was fun! Tagging @lutes-and-dandelions, @moonlights-ordinance, @miahclone, @fantom-flower, @useless-empty-brain, anyone else who wants to???

hi, you’re pretty cool! and happy birthday :)
i just wanted your opinion, what’s the best ace combat game? also, which ones can i play with the ps3? i love jets and this franchise looks great
Hi Anon, appreciate the compliment and birthday message! Didn't catch this one until now.
"Best" has multiple categories, and I haven't played the full range (only most of them) so here's my breakdown:
Best gameplay - 7: Skies Unknown [PS4, X1, PC]. While it might not have anything new in terms of core mechanics, the handling of aircraft and their performance was good, and the implementation of the parts system allowed a little more flexibility and options when it came to aircraft and payload selection.
Best story - 5: Unsung War (Squadron Leader in some regions) [PS2]. Yeah, the writing can be corny at best and disingenuous at worst, and preachy at other points with the anti-war warfighter message, but fuck I still love it. Partly because it's probably one of the first narratives in a game that I actually got pulled into while playing it. Other 'story' games I was playing around that same time I didn't get heavily drawn into, or didn't actually have a deeper story to it (though Tony Hawk's Underground 2's story did make me laugh a lot at the time). 5 was the first game to make me cry (Chopper!) and even to this day I still find myself playing it from time to time, even if I know all the missions back to front and could feasibly speed-run it within a couple hours. One of my all time favourites to this day.
Best graphics - 6: Fires of Liberation [X360]. Hear me out. This game still looks amazing on the 360 (and on the X1 when played with reverse compatibility). I don't think 7 has the same level of smoke persistence and particle effects that 6 had, and it shows. The gameplay feature of multiple "operations" (essentially a mission has multiple objectives within a given mission, and you need to complete a certain number to progress further) allowed me to jet from hot zone to hot zone, and if one of those objectives was a air-to-air, seeing the furball of missile smoke trails and explosions grow as I flew in at Mach 1.2 was nothing short of breathtaking.
That's the first part of your question answered.
As for which one you can get for the PS3? Honestly, your only feasible option would be Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, and that's if you can find a disk copy as I'm pretty sure it's been pulled from all digital stores. But even then, it's an Ace Combat in name only.
Objectively, it's an okay game. As an Ace Combat fan? It's absolute garbage. I think it would've served better if it was called Call of Duty: Aces Above. The story and concept is much more at home as a CoD/BF type game than it ever was as an Ace Combat. If you've played COD4, just take that story and put the characters in fighter jets and you'll be good.
Well, it's not that identical, but fuck, it ticks the checklist of COD4 copies of that time period:
Generic white male military officer that holds high enough rank to have authority but low enough to still see direct action? Check: Colonel William Bishop, field commander of the US contingent of NATO's Task Force 108.
Conflict in some third-world country that has the US involved in interventionary/peacekeeping efforts? Check: US Forces as part of a NATO TF in Africa.
Tense relations between US forces and Russian forces? Russians are also deployed to Africa in the same AO, and while they are alligned with NATO's objectives in the region, it's made explicit that Russia is only there on their own terms.
Internal conflict in Russia results in war breaking out, and US is involved? Yep, ultranationalist forces launch a coup and try to seize control.
Globe trotting across the world in notable cities and locations? Let's see... missions taking place over Miami, Dubai, the Suez Canal, Moscow and Washington DC.
A WMD that is either nuclear or not-a-nuke-but-just-as-devestating? The "Trinity" is a large thermobaric weapon, essentially a scaled down MOAB that the Russians made into a cruise missile.
Russian antagonist with paper-thin justifications for doing what he's doing? Alexi 'Akula' Markov's rampage of revenge against NATO and the US is because his wife was killed in a NATO airstrike during the Bosnian War.
Gratuitous graphics and explosions involving military hardware that costs more than any one of us can ever imagine of seeing? One of the game's marketing taglines was 'make metal bleed'. Need I say more?
Honestly, if you're in a position to? Get a PS4 or X1 and then pick up Ace Combat 7, or get it for PC (and play it with an Xbox or PS controller).
Thanks for asking!

MONTHLY MEDIA: August 2022
Ugh summer is drawing to a close and it all went by too quickly. Like it does every year. But here’s how I spent my time when I wasn’t making the most of this fleeting weather.
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
Prey (2022) Really great! Though my stress levels max out whenever there’s a best bud dog friend so I’d like to watch it again now knowing how it all plays out. Really smart setups and payoffs and everything felt earned. Just a joy to watch.
High Fidelity (2000) At first I was worried that John Cusack’s character was going to be celebrated but then a customer pretty swiftly takes him and his buds down a peg and I realized: the movie knows these dudes are awful. Funny in a way I wasn’t expecting and still disappointing that Laura ends up back with him.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
The Bachelorette (Episode 19.05 to 19.08) I wish there were more opportunities for the leads to hang out and discuss what’s going on, but I get that it’s already so crammed full of stuff. While only 31, Gabby is a perfect example of why casting some sliiiiiightly older leads would be great for the series.
The Handmaid’s Tale (Episode 1.01 to 1.10) This is an exercise is sitting with sadness. It just...constantly feels so bleak. Though I will give that the small moments of rebellion feel that much bigger in contrast to the suffocating bummer of the world. Everyone in Gilead loses but it just takes longer for some to realize it. Oof.
Stranger Things (Episode 4.01 to 4.09) I wasn’t planning on returning to this series but after enough suggestions to check it out, I gave it a go. Pretty good! I was also warned about the Russian subplot and while I didn’t find it to drag too much, it was a reminder of just how many characters and different threads are going on. Wild that they mostly pulled it off and I’m now interested in the final season.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Come as You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life by Emily Nagoski (Page 112 of 315) Really insightful read into the psychology of sex and arousal and intimacy. It’s assuming the reader is a cis woman BUT I’m learning so much and the research applies to all bodies and orientations. I know I’m only a third of the way into it but I can’t recommend it enough.
Devil House by John Darnielle (Abandoned) Great title, great cover, and not at all representative of the contents inside. Not to say it’s not well-written or engaging. I tried to shift gears but I really wanted a good (maybe even a slightly pulpy) horror and the story is...not that. If you’re into following the creative process of a true-crime author, this is for you.
Tumblr media
Junji Ito’s Cat Diary: Yon & Mu Collector’s Edition (Complete) I haven’t read much of Ito’s horror work but you can see it every once in a while in this collection. It also makes me realize how much comedy plays a role in horror as this book is also very funny in a way that doesn’t make it feel like a comedy. Like the humour just stems from life and not from jokes and gags, if that makes sense?
Chew Volume 1: Taster’s Choice by John Layman and Rob Guillory (Complete) So gross. I mean it’s a really creative setting and premise, but each issue had something that made me go “ew”. Maybe that’s the point? Very 90s gross-out and too-cool vibes.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Renaissance by Beyoncé (2022) Hey whaddya know, it’s really good.
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Oz: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) This month the group dug into the library system, tried to find books relating to cults, and discovered the mayor of Munchkin is involved! Political intrigue followed and you can read all about it over here.
Neverland: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) The Mof1 group took a detour, found a very large crocodile, and decided to pull a Magic School Bus and explore the inner workings of this reptile. So far they’ve found the ear canal, lungs, and a stomach acid lake full of magic items and half-digested pirates! We have fun.
And that’s it. As always, I welcome recommendations and happy Wednesday!

June's Review...
I completely forgot about this, please forgive me
Lolita: Nabokov, Vladmir
A great book in the way it's written! I greatly admire Nabokov's style and prose and I think it's pretty hardcore that he translated his own book (Lolita) into Russian. But does that make it Russian or European literature???
Humbert is the only unreliable narrator I don't like, I wonder why. Maybe it's because he was pining after a freaking twelve year-old? I know that this books gets a lot of hate for its depiction of pedophilia, but Nabokov had stated that this book was written for the opposite intention, to show the disgusting nature of pedophilia and even had specific instructions for the book's cover, which many did not listen to-
It's an interesting book to say the least, the characters, the plot, and even the setting really plays into Nabokov's masterpiece.
The Grapes of Wrath: Steinbeck, John
Ugh, I love this book!!!! The Grapes of Wrath is oftentimes considered Steinbeck's greatest work (I can refute that lol) and for good reason. The story is about the Joad family, who travel to California in hopes of a better life, but when they get there, life isn't all that it seems, and Tom Joad finds himself caught up in a worker's revolt.
Honestly, the stars of the show were the Ruthie and Willie interactions. They're so cute haha, especially when they see a flushing toilet and thought they broke it-
Rose of Sharon,,, she's so lovely. I felt so bad for her and her baby, and she was so excited too.
Connie really just left her because the responsibility was too much? Ran away and began studying hard to become the president of the U.S. huh?
There's a lot to unpack, but I am such a horrible explainer. It's not only the Joads, but the Reverend and the revolt also have so much more depth and allegory in them.
The Idiot: Dostoevsky, Fyodor
Myshkin,,,, I loveeee youuuuuu. No but seriously, I loved Myshkin throughout this whole book, he was the light in the dark dingy world of 19th century Russia. Truly a holy fool.
There was so much happening in this story??? The Rogozhin/Nastasya/Myshkin drama, the Aglaya/Myshkin development, the Rogozhin/Myshkin rivalry???? How Myshkin vehemently denounces Catholicism? The Rogozhin/Nastasya escape? Nastasya's death??? It will be hard to keep up with, but I promise you, the Idiot is so good.
Man, I love Nastasya Fillipovna. Fuck Trotsky though, he literally molested Nastasya throughout her time as his ward, that's not cool. And how Nastasya just burns a hundred thousand roubles, has two men wrapped around her finger, and ends up with neither of them? Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss!!!
Sonya and Raskolnikov wanted to be everything that Nastasya and Myshkin were/j (Take a shot everytime Hyeji says Nastasya). Myshkin had pure intentions and saw the good in Nastasya/wanted to help her, and Nastasya absolutely lost it fr.
First Love: Turgenev, Ivan
I liked this one! First Love tells the story of Vladmir Petrovich and his love for his next door neighbor, Zinaida. However, Zinaida is aware of her good looks (as she should!!!) and has a lot of men vying for her hand, Petrovich being only one of them. She goes on to play her suitors against each other, while Petrovich is not aware of his real rival (spoiler, it's his dad).
Turgenev describes love as a summer torrent that changes a person once it's over, and he was damn right. As much as I wanted to root for Petrovich, I was also hoping for some sort of tragedy to act as character development.
It's very short, so you could read it in one sitting! I highly recommend it, if you like the feeling of hand sanitizer on half-healed cuts.
Poems of James Joyce and the Exiles
Okayyy, I see you Joyce!!!! I've only really considered James Joyce as an author, so reading his love poetry and only play really paints him in a new light!
Ugh, his poetry describes everything that I've ever felt about every person I've loved. I don't know if it's a lot, but I'm digressing. And his play??? Gorgeous, but sort of messed up? You have Robert and Bertha, the unmarried couple with their son Archie; they return from Rome to Ireland, to run into Richard, Bertha's ex and Beatrice, Robert's ex. Harmful hijinks ensue. I know that this play wasn't as successful as his other works, but I really liked it.
In Search of Lost Time: Proust, Marcel
I didn't not enjoy this as much as I thought I would. That doesn't mean I hated it!!!! I do admire Proustian writing style, but there wasn't that sort of compelling force that wanted me to keep turning the page. It certainly was interesting, I have a love and hate relationship with this series though haha.
June was not my month, too many things to do and now its my summer break!!! Going to try and be more active here now :)

The 2022 Big Book Review
Books read in 2022
Absolutely non-exhaustive. I dropped Goodreads and can’t keep track of anything I don’t write down. Also not counting the children’s books and other quite short stuff I read in 5 minutes so I can tell customers what it’s about.
All in all : it’s a CLASSIC year lads. And I’ll be screaming about Marguerite Yourcenar to everyone forever.
Total (minus comics): 60 books
Total (including everything): 168 books
I organized them loosely, but it won’t be very consistent. Tried to add some comment but this won’t be a literary review
Classics
Mémoires d’Hadrien – So good omg. One of the books ever. Words fail me to say how much this book is amazing. Made me visit the Villa Adriana when I went to Rome. Indirectly responsible for a tendinitis in my left foot. Madeline Miller WISHES she were Yourcenar.
Miss Pettigrew lives for a day - A cute one! Recommended by my sister
La guerre de Troie n’aura pas lieu - found in an old edition in a tiny free library. Very good & depressing
La vie de Monsieur de Molière, Boulgakov - If I had a nickel each time I read a book by a beloved author written by another beloved author, I’ll have two nickels.
Balzac, le roman de sa vie, Zweig – See above
Mille et un fantômes, Dumas - a Russian-doll-type-set of stories, but I have no recollection of them
Lorenzaccio - my sister recommended it to me in 2010. Finally got around to it.
Little House in the Big Woods - Cottagecore before it was cool. Also devoid of the unfortunate racism of the sequel
Le Vicomte de Bragelonne 1 & 2 - I’ll finish it next year for sure
Balzac et la petite tailleuse chinoise - loved the book, hated the ending
Pauline, Dumas - it was okay, I guess
La fin de Satan, Hugo - “Les soleils étaient loin, mais ils brillaient encore”. Hugo always goes HARD
Balzac :
Here’s an extract from a June entry in my diary : «  because of a tumblr post, I started reading Le père Goriot, and it’s quite good, which I find irritating ». And now look here we are.
Le père Goriot - So Good. So good I keep jokingly (?) recommending it to customers when they don’t know what book to buy
Le Code des Gens honnêtes - a fun read. Serves as documentation for 19th century life, too
Illusions Perdues - It’s like watching a car crash for 800 pages. In other words, excellent. Also did not expect the ending.
Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes - Come for the story, stay for the harsh commentary on capitalists that Marx wishes he wrote. Horrible, and a masterpiece.
Ferragus - only read it because of the “there’s a secret society in La Comédie Humaine” premice.
La Duchesse de Langeais - funnier once you learn exactly why Balzac wrote it
La Fille aux yeux d’or - Marsay is a dick and I love it
Le Colonel Chabert - SO. GOOD.
La peau de chagrin - This year’s mandatory reading for highschoolers. I pity them.
La Rabouilleuse - Ft the most punchable asshole you’ll ever read in your life
La maison du chat qui pelote – which does not mean, as I initially thought « the house of the cat who plays with a ball of yarn »
Mémoires de deux jeunes mariées - Both very good and quite sad, I couldn’t say why
Le Curé de Tours - Beware the Old Maids, they’ll ruin your life if you don’t treat them well. Pettiness is not a crime, except when it is.
Pathologie de la vie sociale - no recollection of it
History
Les bas-fonds, naissance d’un imaginaire - Very good! Required reading if you love 19th century (and early 20th) literature
La vie quotidienne des religieux au Moyen-âge - Read for documentation purposes
La vie quotidienne des templiers - ditto
La vie quotidienne sous le Directoire - ditto. Quite interesting!
La vie quotidienne des français sous Napoléon, Tulard - I had to hunt it down, but it was worth it. Tulard knows his stuff.
La vie quotidienne à Florence au temps de Dante - Read in Florence, of course.
La vie quotidienne en Italie au temps de Machiavel - To carry on after the previous one.
Yeah, I own quite a lot of these books.
Les jours sans : l’alimentation en temps de guerre - Read it before, but worth it. It’s always good to see history from the side of everyday life.
Pour vous mesdames ! La mode en temps de guerre - Disappointing.
Les Douze heures noires, la nuit à Paris au XIXè siècle - SO GOOD. But I said this before.
Le monde du crime sous Napoléon - Jean Tulard again. Still knows his stuff, but it’s more trivia than a real historical study
Manga
I have to read quite a lot of them for my work. It’s hard, I know. I read the whole series, unless specified
Thermae Romae - still a favourite
Vinland Saga - everyone should read Vinland Saga. Everyone.
Angel Sanctuary 1-20 - Sadly does not hold up today.
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun - One of my favourite new series. I laud it (and sell it) every chance I can.
Look Back - are you an artist? Read this.
Nonnonbâ, Mizuki Shigeru - a very sweet story. But then I love Mizuki’s work.
Berserk 1-4 - good art, but I’m not sold on the story. I’ll try again, I think.
Spy x Family - For once, a series that is both popular and good enough for me to sell to parents who don’t know anything about manga
The Apothicary’s diaries, 1-5 - Not bad, maybe even good, but I don’t get the hype around it
Atelier of Witch Hat, 10 - read this series. That is all.
Kitchen of Witch Hat - Exactly what I want: short, slice of life stories in a fantasy world, centered around food.
Heaven’s Design team 1 - Not bad.
Beastars 21&22 - Good ending to a great series
DanDaDan - the other of my favourite new series. Highly recommended if you’re not allergic to absurd stuff.
Chouchin X 1&2 - Can’t get behind this, sorry. And yet I loved Tokyo Ghoul.
Comics
Not much to say about this section, I’m afraid.
Three Joker
The Joker : 80 years
I, Joker (yeah, it was a Joker binge)
Batman : Year one
Beasts of Burden
The Ex-People - a nice indie comic ft an immortal horse (among others)
The entire Calvin & Hobbes series - as often
Franco-belgian comics
Les cahiers d’Esther 3 – 7
Journal d’un ingénu 3 - 4
Le Projet Jules Verne
E.C. Jacobs, le rêveur d’apocalypse
La Marque jaune - directly linked to the one above.
Jours de sable - an indie comic about the Dustbowl. Both excellent and depressing
L’arabe du futur 6 - READ IT
Mystery & Thrillers
Messieurs les hommes, S. Antonio - San Antonio is (was?) a big name in the roman de gare genre. The language used is worth bearing the sexism of the MC (in par for the course for a novel written in the 50s, but still)
La Daronne - a very fun read
The Cuckoo’s Call
Career of Evil
Lethal White
Troubled Blood - All of these are good, but I especially loved this one + Career of Evil (bc BÖC)
The Shawshanks Redemption
Du plomb dans la tête – Absolutely bad. Doesn’t help that it was supposed to be a revenge story, and instead I got a badly written pseudo-shocking thriller. Blah.
Which strenghtens my theory that women just write better thrillers than men.
Contemporary, fantasy & YA
Game Changer, N. Shusterman
A Deathly Education – Why don’t I see anything about this series anywhere ? It’s so good.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, V. Schwab - aka I think one of the only YA writers worth reading past 25
Legends and Lattes – The best coffeshop slice of life fantasy I had the pleasure of reading. The only one in existence, which is a crying shame
Gideon the Ninth - no need to say anything about it. Tumblr knows it’s a masterpiece
Âge Tendre, C. Beauvais - A sweet read, and cleverly written, too
Les petites reines, C. Beauvais
Vampyria 3, V. Dixen – See my comment about Deathly Education. We’ve got a dystopian YA series where Louis XIV is a vampire and no one talks about this ?
Hogfather
Equal Rites
Mort
The Truth - Yeah, I re-read a bit of Discworld. Whenever I find myself in a reading slump, Pratchett’s always got my back.
Others :
Vers la sobriété heureuse, P. Rabbi
L’humanité en péril 2, Vargas
Tried reading more books about ecology and sobriey but it’s quite depressing.

Hmm, "the visit"? Is this the movie that Kathryn Hahn played in? If so, I watched it. Really strange movie, which is more psychologically depressing than frightening, to be honest … and thank you!! you're so caring, it makes me mentally squeak.☠️
I don't know why I react this way to any good contacts with people.😐
annddd wow.. wow. you're right. I was somewhat struck by your words about all this. just this fact that someone remembers the phrases of their favorite characters and make some conclusions from it. Also, your words about the concept and much more. And oh my God, you're making me blush, stop it, fkljgkfdga 👽 also, I'm glad to be a good listener for you. 🦋

If it's not spoilers could you please talk about vlad? Like what does he like, hobbies and how he feels about his family, the small stuff, thank you! And I can't wait for your Breanna and Vlad spinoff
hello anon thanks for the cool question!! and thanks so much, i really hope u guys enjoy the backstory reprisal!! im getting so close to finishing it, i can't wait to post it for everyone to read!! <3
i'm putting this under a cut because ohhhhhhhh boy did i ramble so hard lol.
vlad loves reading and writing a lot! he reads almost constantly, and he's a bit of a braggart when it comes to his vast knowledge of many different things, which he's learned about from books alone. he has no formal education, so reading was his only avenue for learning for a long, long time. after becoming a vampire, and before meeting breanna, he spent many centuries alone, with his only company being the books he surrounded himself with, so reading very quickly became a huge pastime for him. before becoming a vampire, vladislaus was actually illiterate and couldn't read or write; he was taught to read and write in english and in russian by yakov petrova, a natural-born vampire whose native language is russian. so, vlad honestly has a bit of an inferiority complex when it comes to his own intelligence. because of this, he tries to make up for that insecurity by being as well-read as he possibly can. even after all these years, he still has that lingering fear in the back of his head, so he's almost always reading in an attempt to learn more and more! as far as writing goes, he enjoys using his writing as a way to vent about his frustrations, and often he uses his writing to delve into the deeply personal history of his past, as well as some of his crueler intrusive thoughts he doesn't wish to admit to anyone aloud. he isn't a professional by any means, and his writing is something he doesn't share to most people, not even to breanna at times, but it does help him significantly. if he were to pursue any career, he would be an author!
he also really loves music! one of his greatest hobbies is collecting new vinyl and listening to it with breanna, so they can discuss how they feel about the music. he's listened to literally everything, and since vampires integrated with humans and were granted access to internet usage, now he can listen to all the underground artists he never would have been exposed to when vampires only lived among themselves! not only does he love music, but he's musically gifted himself; he can play the piano and the organ, and he's a good singer. he's shy about his talents, though, so he won't often play for people. occasionally, he'll play for his family, though :-)
vlad is EXTREMELY family oriented, and he cares very very deeply about his family. this has been true of him his entire life, even before becoming a vampire. in his human life, he lived on a farm with nine younger siblings. as the oldest child, he took on much of the childcare for his younger siblings, and as such became something of a surrogate father to them, as their real father was often gone, and their mother was bedridden from various illnesses. so, even at a young age, he's been rather paternal and nurturing in nature, always wanting to provide for others. vlad has this deeply-rooted insecurity, where he needs to feel needed, he needs to feel as though his help contributes to something greater, and to him, fatherhood satiates that desire. so, as you can imagine, he puts ALL his effort into his family, honestly, to the point where he's extremely distrusting and dismissive of people outside of his family, and he can be extremely overbearing at times. he's the type of person who always thinks he's right, so when he sees his children in need, he's not shy to give his input on what he thinks they ought to do to better themselves. sometimes this is appreciated, but other times it can come across as condescending and patronizing. which, rest assured, he is condescending and patronizing, but he doesn't mean to be--he's just seen a lot of suffering in his lifetime, and he can't imagine that suffering being inflicted onto his wife and children. he feels very responsible for the wellbeing of those he cares about, so he'll do practically anything he feels will keep them safe. at the end of the day, though, he's just happy to have his children around. honestly, if vlad had it his way, none of his children would ever move out of the house! they'd all just live together in one big, happy family forever and ever. he's the person who's always organizing family dinners, outings, and vacations, the one who always texts and facetimes his children without so much as a warning, just to ask them about their day, and if anything cool has happened. and if nothing cool happened, that's fine! he just loves the sound of their voices. after going so long without a genuine connection with anyone, he relishes in the fact that he has such a large family with such a close bond!
i've mentioned this a lot before, but vlad is VERY overprotective of breanna especially. obviously he feels this way about his children too, but he has such a close bond with breanna, being away from her feels unthinkable. he always wants to be around her, he's constantly checking up on her and making sure she's okay, she's happy, she's cared for, etc. they met during a time where they both felt completely alone, isolated from the world around them, with no friends, no ambition, and no care for their own wellbeing. he honestly sees a lot of himself (and a lot of his younger brother, who will be talked about one day far in the future lmao) in breanna. in a lot of ways, even though he didn't know breanna when she was a human, he feels personally responsible for her troubled upbringing, and he feels this even more now that they're together. whenever she faces any problem, he feels like he personally needs to fix it, as to alleviate the hardships she's endured.
so, it's no surprise that he's EXTREMELY clingy and needy, and honestly very codependent. if you asked vlad about himself, i think he'd have a hard time coming up with an answer which doesn't revolve around him being a father and a husband, him caring for his wife and children, because he's honestly just so enmeshed into that lifestyle and especially w/ breanna that it's hard to see anything else. i amount that to him being a deeply insecure person, someone who constantly feels anxiety and someone who constantly needs reassurance that he's needed in this world. it's definitely one of the reasons why he's so attached to breanna, because she makes him feel needed. obviously there's other reasons too!! like, they genuinely just get along and treat each other well. but there's no denying she itches this particular scratch for vlad (and it's the same for breanna too, i would say their relationship is very symbiotic in this sense).
what i'm trying to say, is that while i think this man seriously needs some therapy to work on the centuries worth of insecurities he's woven into his very being... he does genuinely love and care for his family very much, and he wants nothing more than to see his family happy. it's just that sometimes he expresses this feeling in very questionable and unhealthy ways.
he's just a very paternal and pathetic and pretentious man and i love him so very much for that <3
