A SERIES OF BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
characters. xiao zhongli diluc kaeya childe neuvillette alhaitham x gn!reader genre. romantic fluff. an. ough. . | please reblog!! im getting back into writing and reblogs with tags and comments will make me want to write more :D
xiao
the aftermath of a bloody fight. the remains of a hilichurl lay in front of you, disintegrating back into abyss particles. it's a sad sight, but it had to be done – xiao looks at you, nodding in approval. you did well, for a healer who hates taking away lives, he says. the two of you turn back to center your gaze on the flaming battlefield. some things are meant to be killed.
zhongli
when he mourns for his old life, with old friends, old students, old sights. he buries his head in your lap, the ex-archon's tears staining your hanfu. it's okay to cry, my dear, it's okay to cry, you remind him –it doesn't get any better. grief doesn't come easier after those hopeful words. zhongli can only hope that it will come easier, with your presence in his life.
diluc
brushing his hair after a night of vigilante activities – diluc hisses when your thumb presses on a sore spot, and you gently shush him with a stroke on his neck. i'm sorry, diluc, just hold on a while longer and i promise i'll be done soon – you whisper gently, cupping his face in your hands as you turn his head slightly to the side to check for more scrapes and scratches.
kaeya
braiding flowers into his cobalt blue hair – kaeya laughs when your fingers graze against a sensitive spot. you laugh and tease him, your fingers deftly braiding the daisies you both gathered earlier into the tight braid that was in your hands. it's a serene night – a vast contrast from the previous, turmoil-filled nights. the archons know that both of you need it.
childe
playing tag with the children, with a very exhausted ajax sprawled out on the ground and pretending to pant and gasp for air – alright, perhaps he's not pretending anymore. teucer sits on his torso, poking his sides until his beloved big brother gets up and tickles him until the little boy shrieks. childe leans against your lap, and you stroke his hair until he falls asleep, teucer cuddled up next to him.
neuvillette
waking up in the morning, with your two melusine daughters giggling and jumping on your bed. they startle awake a previously-snoozing neuvillette. he smiles lightly as he greets the girls good morning, who leap off the bed and eagerly run to the kitchen. your husband turns over to look at you – a sweet moment of respite, before kissing you on the lips and turning back to the chaos-filled morning.
alhaitham
reaching for a book that's too high, only to realise that your boyfriend can reach for it with ease. alhaitham bends down to listen to your request, before simply nodding and reaching for your much sought-after book. he smiles gently, afraid that you'll be afraid and intimidated by him... like everyone is. your soft, sweet words of gratitude please him instead. thank you, alhaitham.

Sick - a Matt Sturniolo x Reader
Summery - Nick and Matt are sick with Covid and you offer to come and help take care of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*fluff, like…pure fluff*
It’s Tuesday Night and you get a call from your boyfriend Matt letting you know he tested positive for covid, Your first reaction was to ask if he need anything medicine, soup, water. He had stated that he and the boys were fine without it and that you should stay home and rest but you insisted. So ending the call you decided to head over to him and his brothers home to help take care of all three of them.
Before heading to the house you decided to run to your local grocery store and grab a few things for the soup you’d be making and also a box of tea.
Once you checked out you started making your way to the house.
Once you arrived you knocked on the door urgently and saw Chris, you urgently pulled a mask over your face
“Yo! I’m good, i don’t have Covid…” he said
“ohhh oh my god, i thought all of yall were sick as fuck” you stated with a sigh of relief
“where are Matt and Nick?” you asked with a sense of panic
“they are both locked away in their rooms..i wouldn’t let them contaminate you” he laughed
“I don’t think it would matter hence i put myself in this situation. Wanna help me cook?” you ask Chris hoping he’d say no remembering his cooking history
“uhhhh im not sure you want that..” Chris replied
“you know what! you’re right” you replied rushing over to the stove
You put everything down on the counters before rushing around the corner hall to Matt’s room. Knocking on the door you say “Matt, are you hungry? How’re you feeling?” then listening in for a response you hear counting..
“1..2..3..4..5” Matt counts..
You call again “Matt?!”
Matthew then hurriedly opens the door wearing a mask he then says “what’re you doing here..? you’re gonna get sick! go home!” he rushing griefs to shut the door.. but your foot’s in between the hinges “i wanted to come and take care of you guys i know you guys don’t really know how to do that yourself.., have you even had any medicine..?” you ask worriedly “yea..” Matt looks around suspiciously “well no..but still i don’t want you getting sick, you should go home, coming here was sweet though i really appreciate you thinking of us honestly” he replies expecting you to leave which you do.. but not the house
Time to cook..
You grab all your ingredients and start making the soup. Onion, Celery, Garlic, Carrots, Noodles, etc.. once everything is cooking you decide to throw on a movie within the same time in which Chris decides to come up stairs from the ground floor… “sooo like, I know i’m not sick but that smells oh so yummy” he says in a weird yet entertaining voice “can i please have some too?” he begs. You look at him funny and reply “I mean.. i guess i’m trying to make enough so that there’s at least enough for two days..” he then notices the TV and asks “what is this? saltburn or some shit?” you look at him in disgust “No. it’s The Turning” you say matter of factly. “what is it about” he asks, “i don’t know for real, just some indie horror film” you tell, “oh alright well please let me know first when the food is done” he pleads. “whatever.” you say.
One the food is done you call up the guys one by one to grab a bowl. First Chris cause he asked so kindly, then Nick.. Once Nick comes down he seems fine, Then he starts coughing a lot, causing you to worry and offer him tea. He politely declines claiming to not enjoy tea that much. He then heads back upstairs and Matt comes out of his room after 5 minutes..
“Hey, I really appreciate you coming here and treating me and my brothers so sweet.. i was on the phone with my mom and she really thanks you because she can’t be here to do these things for us” he says lovingly smiling up at you with his cute little red nose from blowing it all day. “no problem, i love you guys a lot. you especially, so i have no problem with probably leaving here sick just to make sure you guys are ok” you reply. Matt them comes behind you whilst you’re stirring the soup on the low heat and gives your back a nice firm hug. “I love you” he says. At first you’re very caught off guard because that’s the first time he’s spoken those three words to you.. but coming to your senses you immediately respond “i love you too, Matt” in to which he smiles in the crook of your neck and kisses it. You turn and hug him back.
“Want some soup or tea?” you ask politely. “Sure, i’ll have some tea” he responds thankfully. “i already had food like a few hours ago. thank you though.” he adds. You pop a Peppermint tea in the keurig and he sits at the table. “i’m glad you’re here, i feel like i’ve been going crazy locked in my room all day.” he speaks. “I was counting my steps as i paced my room earlier because my apple watch felt i was being ‘lazy’ even though i’m quite frankly sick as all hell” he adds.. “hahaha yea i heard that, i was so confused” you reply coming in for a kiss in which he hesitates “i don’t wanna risk your chance of getting more sick” he states in to which you reply “the sickness is airborne, love. if im gonna get sick it’s gonna happen regardless. i’ve already stepped in the house.” leaning in you kiss his lips. The keurig finishes and you mix a little bit of honey in his mug and hand him the cup.
Nearing the end of the night you and Matt head into his room to relax, figuring you’d already be sick Matt invites you to stay the night knowing it shouldn’t get any worse from here unless you go home where your family lives. You both decide to watch a movie, Matt begging you to help him finish saltburn stating he was bored with it in the first 20 minutes. You oblige only to regret it seeing he’s only watched a small portion of the ‘weird’ movie, however you continue watching just to keep him company and watch him fall asleep comfortably in your arms...
The End :)
a/n: idk how i feel about the end of this.. but you know what, its my first and i’ll only get better as i keep going.. :)) THANKS FOR READING!

The Good In You
Sam and Dean Winchester x little sister!reader
Requested by Anonymous
Synopsis: you have demon powers, and after Dean goes to hell Sam and Ruby teach you how to use them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“And who are you?”
Ruby’s tone when she addressed you made your skin crawl.
“Oh, you’re different,” she continued, unable to look away from you.
“Hey,” you relaxed a little when Dean stepped in front of you. “Don’t talk to her.”
“You knew about this?” She asked him. When he didn’t answer, she continued. “She’s powerful, Dean. More powerful than Sam, or me, or…or anyone. She can—“
“No, she can’t,” Dean interrupted. “You leave her alone, alright?”
“You’re ignoring your biggest weapon!”
“She. Is not. A weapon.” Dean growled. “Now drop it.”
Ruby held her hands up in surrender, but you didn’t miss the way she stared at you over Dean’s shoulder.
“Hey.”
You flinched when Ruby appeared next to you.
“Sam and Dean aren’t here, they went out,” you said nervously.
“I’m not here for them.” She smiled.
“Please leave me alone.” You hated the obvious fear in your voice.
“I’m not here to try anything,” she assured you. “I just wanted to make sure you understand. I wasn’t trying to make you some kind of weapon, I just wanted you to know you have power.”
“I’m dangerous,” you sighed.
“That’s Dean talking,” Ruby argued. “But I think you’re so much more than that. Dean’s just scared of what you can do, but I’m not.”
“Don’t try to turn me against Dean,” you said. But you couldn’t help wonder if she was right. “Please leave.”
“Ok,” she said. “I’m not trying to convince you of anything, I just wanted you to know I’m here. If you ever want to know more about your power, I can teach you.”
And without another word, she was gone.
You didn’t know what to do. Dean was in hell, and Sam had run off the minute that Dean was gone, leaving you with Bobby. You understood, really; he had his own grief to deal with, and he wanted to be alone.
But you didn’t.
“Y/N?”
Speak of the devil.
“Sammy?” You looked up and there he was, standing in your doorway. “Sam!”
Sam laughed softly when you barreled into him. He wrapped his arms around you.
“Hey kid,” he greeted.
“You’re back,” you grinned.
“And not alone.” At the sound of a woman’s voice, you stepped away from Sam to see a dark-haired woman smiling at you. Her eyes flashed black, you you couldn’t help but flinch before you realized.
“Ruby?”
“In the flesh,” she grinned. “Well, a new flesh, but still me.”
“Why…how…” you had so many questions you didn’t know where to start, but Sam helped you out.
“We came to get you because we’re gonna go after Lilith. We could use your help.”
“Oh…” the silence spoke for itself.
“That’s not what I meant,” Sam sighed. “I wanted to come get you, I-I just…I’ve been messed up lately, ok? I thought you’d be better off with Bobby.”
“But now he’s feeling better,” Ruby interjected, and Sam frowned at her. “And we could use your help.”
“How?”
Ruby smiled.
“Im gonna teach you how to use those powers you have.”
You resisted at first, but once Sam assured you that he supported this plan, you found it hard to say no. You couldn’t help but think that this wasn’t what Dean wanted for you, but the magic that Ruby was suggesting was so harmless that you felt almost alright with it.
In fact, it was more than harmless: it was pretty darn wholesome.
“You’re telling me I can heal people?”
“Kid,” Ruby grinned. “You can do whatever you want.” When Sam cleared his throat, she sighed and continued. “But Sam’s made me promise to keep you on the Mister Roger’s side of your powers, so healing it is.”
Using your powers wasn’t as easy as Ruby had thought it would be. You found that you couldn’t heal a thing without her careful instruction each time, and even then it wasn’t always perfectly effective.
But that didn’t matter to you, because it worked. Even though it was hard, and imperfect, you’d done it. You were using your powers, and there wasn’t a bit of evil about doing it. You’d never felt stronger.
And then Dean came back from hell.
You were over the moon when he came back, but when he found out that Sam was drinking demon blood and you were using your powers, the boys had a terrible fight and split, unable to agree on how to fight Lilith.
The one thing they did agree on, was that you wouldn’t be going. Dean would never let you use your powers, and even if he did Sam had decided that you weren’t learning fast enough to be a useful healer mid-battle. So, Bobby’s it was.
Even after Lilith was killed (which Sam and Dean had both refused to tell you about), and the apocalypse started Sam and Dean decided to stay separated from each other, and you apparently.
That is, until Bobby got a call from Dean.
“Bobby, it’s bad,” Dean’s voice was strained, and weak. “I don’t know if-if you’d be able to patch me up in time.”
“I—“
“Let me help.” You surprised both men by speaking up as you stepped into Bobby’s living room. “Dean where are you?”
“No!” Dean insisted. “You’re not using magic on me.”
“Dean, I can heal you.”
“Yeah right,” Dean scoffed.
“Don’t be an idjit,” Bobby interjected. “I’ve seen her do it, she can help you.”
“I said no,” Dean replied.
Bobby shook his head with a grunt.
“Where are you? I’ll come help you.”
Dean rattled off an address, and continued.
“Don’t bring her wi—“
Bobby hung up on him.
“You’re coming,” Bobby told you. “We’re gonna save that boy’s life whether he wants us to or not.”
“Bobby, I need Sam or Ruby. I-I’m no good without them, I need help to—“
“It’s alright, kid. I think I know where they’re holed up, it’s on the way. Let’s go.”
“Where’s Ruby?”
Sam said nothing as he climbed into Bobby’s car, and the three of you set off to find Dean.
“How is he?” Sam asked Bobby.
“Well, from what I understand he’s hanging in there, but I don’t think I can patch him up with bandaids and alcohol this time,” Bobby sighed.
“Well then we better get moving.”
“I said just you, Bobby!”
Your gut twisted at the sight of all that blood—Dean’s blood—pooling around his stomach. This definitely wasn’t a job for normal medication.
“Dean, let her help,” Sam insisted.
“I thought we went over this! These powers—“
“Her powers aren’t like mine,” Sam argued. “She does nothing but good with them.”
“Yeah, right,” Dean scoffed. “There’s nothing right about this stuff.”
“Dean, all she does is heal,” Sam said.
“What?” Dean frowned. “Heal? You can’t heal.”
“I told you,” Sam replied patiently. “Her powers aren’t like mine. I would never let her drink demon blood, or go dark side. She’s never done anything even remotely questionable with her powers. Now stop being such a jerk and let her heal you.”
Dean gave a nod that was barely visible, but it was enough for you. He tensed when you put your hand on his wound, but he trusted you.
“Sam?” You turned to look at your big brother, and he knelt down next to you.
“You’re doing great,” he insisted. “Just concentrate.”
With Sam talking you through it, you were able to slowly heal up Dean’s wounds.
“That was great.” Sam wrapped an arm around you while you leaned against him, exhausted. He rested his chin on your head. “You’re getting better, that was a pretty tough wound to heal.”
Dean looked up from where he had been inspecting his would, as though checking it for sulfur.
“Using your powers drains you, huh?”
You nodded wearily, closing your eyes and letting Sam lift you in his arms.
“We should get going,” Sam said.
You waited in the Impala, slowly regaining your strength, while Sam and Dean talked. You didn’t have to hear their conversation to see the conclusion; they were coming back.
“It’s about time,” you huffed when the two of them got into the Impala.
“What?”
“We’re sticking together now, right?”
Dean’s lip twitched into a smirk.
“Why, did you miss me?” His smirk dropped as he dodged the hand you swung at him. “Hey!”
“Yes,” Sam interrupted before the fight could escalate. “We’re sticking together.”
“Where’s Ruby?” Your voice was quieter now, and you weren’t sure you wanted to know the answer. “How did the apocalypse start? I-I don’t understand why you won’t tell me.”
Dean sighed. He’d been hoping to keep this conversation on pause for a little while longer.
“Ruby’s dead,” he answered, seeing no more reason to beat around the bush. He watched in the rearview mirror as you pulled your knees up to your chest, your head ducked down. He wasn’t around while you were with Ruby, but he’d sensed that throughout your training the two of you had become close.
“Lilith was the final seal,” Sam sighed. “Ruby…she lied to us. She wanted Lucifer set free. I’m sorry.”
You didn’t speak for the rest of the drive, and the brothers didn’t push you. Sam was pretty sure that you were crying for a while, but eventually your exhaustion pushed you into a deep sleep.
“I’d never let her do something that could make her evil.”
Dean was surprised when Sam suddenly spoke up.
“Look,” Dean sighed. “I saw how her power works, and it…maybe I was wrong. I don’t know. I just want her to—“
“I know,” Sam interrupted. “I want that too. I wouldn’t have let her use those powers if I thought they…they’d make her like me. But she’s not. There’s no demon blood, or black eyes, or-or anything messed up like that. There’s just her. And she’s good.”
“I still don’t know if I like it,” Dean admitted.
“Sam is right.”
Both boys jumped in surprise when Castiel suddenly appeared beside your sleeping form.
“Jeez, Cas,” Dean groaned.
“Sam is right,” Cas repeated. “Your sister’s powers aren’t dark. In fact, I can show her how to use them more efficiently.”
“You can?” Sam was surprised. “What do you know about her powers?”
“Well, it’s true that she could use them for dark purposes,” Cas admitted. “So I think only letting her heal is the best strategy. But I see no reason for her to suppress them entirely. That could just lead to them coming out in uncontrollable ways.”
“Cas?” All three men turned at the sound of your voice. You rubbed your face, sitting up straighter and smiling at the angel. “What are you doing here? Are you staying?”
“For as long as I can,” Cas promised. “I want to help your brothers train you to use your powers.”
“Really?” You smiled. “You don’t think they’re evil?”
“No,” Cas replied, glancing over at Dean’s blood-soaked shirt. “No, there’s nothing evil about you, little one.”
“I always knew you were a goody-two-shoes,” Dean scoffed, smiling when he saw how relieved you were at Cas’s assurance that you weren’t doing anything evil.
“And she’s always gonna be,” Sam piped up.
“Gee, no pressure,” you laughed.
“You’re up to it,” Dean replied, and you caught his eye in the rearview mirror.
I trust you, his gaze said.
That was better than anything he could’ve said.

Anyway, like I said the last chapter, I had to split my writing into two parts since it was getting to be over 10,000 words, so here is the next part!
Tumblr media
The trip back to the village was a quiet one, Y/n's mind still reeling about her conversation with Neteyam. Jake thankfully didn't ask and acted as a pillar of strength when they returned home. He made one look at Neytiri and she opted out of saying anything, gladly letting her husband and her daughter return to the marui but not before she held them both in her arms out of relief that things would be alright between them. Y/n went to bed early, exhausted from all of the events of the day that resulted in the grief come bouncing back. If she woke up in the middle of the night to find herself in a cuddle pile of both Na'vi and human siblings, she didn't mention it, and none of the Sullys made any comments the following morning. Everyone was just happy that bonds were mending and hearts were healing. They were one step closer to feeling like a family again.
Lo'ak was visibly more comfortable walking beside Y/n that morning, knowing that she and their father had talked, and was happy to no longer walk on eggshells around either of them. Y/n appeared more relaxed as well, despite receiving some odd-looking glares from nearby Metkayina girls. To ignore the stares and lighten the mood a little more, Y/n shoved her little brother into the water before he could even blink. The resulting splash sent Y/n laughing and Lo'ak sputtering when his resurfaced, vowing revenge. It was then that Ao'nung and Rotxo showed up, grinning down at Lo'ak's predicament while standing beside Y/n.
"Quit messing around, Lo'ak," Ao'nung teased good-naturedly, "We got work to do today."
Lo'ak frowned, slightly embarrassed but summoned an ilu for himself. The other teens do the same and they head out to work, all the while Rotxo explains today's task to the Sully children, "When training to be a warrior among the Metkayina, you have to ride an ilu to chase away predators that threaten the young."
"Bro, we used ilu to rescue a tulkun and fought against Sky People," Lo'ak retorts, "I think that should count."
"He's got a point," Y/n added, "I think we rescued plenty of our young doing that."
Lo'ak squints his eyes in his sister's direction, "I couldn't tell if that was sarcastic or not."
"Figure it out, skxawng."
"It is all about tradition," Ao'nung explained, "I am sure the Elders would appreciate us keeping up with old traditions despite we have done enough to become warriors ten times over already despite our young age."
"So we're only doing this to impress a bunch of old people?" Lo'ak questioned with an added groan, getting splashed by Y/n in the process.
"Lo, for someone who just tries to fit in--"
"I know, I know," he waved her off half-heartedly.
"I'd like to see you talk that way to Grandmother."
A bit of color drains from Lo'ak's face, but otherwise he says nothing. Ao'nung laughed as they leisurely swayed in the water, leaning over in Lo'ak's direction, "They say that the Elders see and hear all. I would watch my back if I were you, Lo'ak te Suli. Maybe make a necklace for them as an apology."
Y/n laughs while Rotxo's smile slowly turns up into a mischievous grin, eyeing Ao'nung while opening his mouth, his eyes all-knowing, "Speaking of necklaces, that is a very nice arrowhead, Y/n. Akula?"
Ao'nung spun to glare at Rotxo in warning while Y/n briefly pressed a finger to the arrowhead she had yet to take off. She quickly retracts her touch and pointedly doesn't look at Rotxo, "Yes, thank you."
By now, Lo'ak is also staring at the necklace, eyes widening each time his brain puts another piece of the puzzle together, head tilting to Ao'nung, then Y/n, then back again. Rotxo could see Lo'ak's realization slowly dawning on his face and decided not to let up for the sake of teasing his friend, "Did you make it? Or was it given to you?"
"The necklace is mine... the tooth was a gift."
"Oh? From who?" Rotxo's big eyes practically sparkle with mirth, staring directly at Lo'ak as he adds, "You know, speaking of tradition, usually when a Na'vi gifts another something as special as that, it means they are courting--"
"I think we should split up on our patrol," Lo'ak abruptly states, briefly glaring daggers at Ao'nung while urging his ilu forward to swim beside Rotxo, "As I am about ready to strangle both of you, I will be going with Rotxo."
"Sure," Ao'nung shrugged, "Meet back here around midday?"
"Alright. See ya then."
Ao'nung and Y/n watch Lo'ak and Rotxo speed their ilu up and swim away, jumping in and out of the water before disappearing on the horizon. The pair waits until they are completely alone before Y/n flashes a side-eye glance in Ao'nung's direction, "You told Rotxo?"
"I didn't tell him anything," he defends, "But practically everyone has been asking. They all probably know."
"Yeah... 'Teyam used to tease me about it." She smiled sadly at the memory.
"Did he? I was so sure he would have killed me."
"No, he was the brother you didn't have to worry about," she huffed a small laugh, "Lo'ak and Spider on the other hand... well, you've been punched by the one before, and Spider might be more level-headed but you have never seen him truly angry."
A small glimmer flashed in Ao'nung's eyes, a wave of respect for the human boy washing over him, "That's intriguing."
She snorts quietly, her eyes returning to the spot where the other pair of teenagers disappeared, "I'm pretty sure Lo'ak has known about us for a while, maybe before I even knew there was an 'us.' So I wouldn't worry about him. He's just acting like a child."
She raises an eyebrow when Ao'nung emits a small growl, "Maybe your brother should worry about me if what I heard about him and Tsireya is true."
"Oh, please. They have been fond of each other since the day they met, don't act like you didn't notice." Y/n rolled her eyes.
"I am going to kill him."
"You will do no such thing if you know what's good for you," she glared dangerously back, though Ao'nung noted that it was not as heated or as threatening as her usual glares, "You cannot hate him for seeing your sister and then turn around to see his. Besides, I think your mother doesn't mind it after she and I talked that one time we were foraging. She heard my side of things and I think she actually approves of Lo'ak and Tsireya now."
Ao'nung goes back to that day when he found Y/n and his mother walking out of the forest together, his ears sheepishly pinning back against his skull when he remembered what had happened after Y/n had left, "My mother asked about you."
Y/n's eyes widened, "She did?"
"And she tells my father everything, so..."
"Same here. I think our sisters know, but they are not saying anything. They would take it to their grave if we asked them." Y/n smiles to herself.
"It wouldn't matter. This whole village is full of spinsters," Ao'nung snidely comments, "Everyone's business is everyone's business."
He watched as the gears openly turned in Y/n's head, her eyes looking to the sky while she asked, "... Is that why there were girls staring at me down by the docks this morning?"
"I do not know," initially, he shrugs, but she watches as Ao'nung's eyes slowly start to sparkle as his teasing grin reemerges, "Maybe they are jealous."
"Jealous?"
"Of course," he flaunts dramatically, "Jealous that a forest girl from a faraway place managed to steal the future olo'eyktan out from under their noses."
Her scowl immediately pitches into a laugh when he reaches over and briefly grabs her tail. Y/n pulled away from him before he could do it again, still laughing while trying to evade his hand.
They urge their ilu to swim a bit more after that, chasing one another playfully until they get to their next spot for patrol. By the time they got there, Ao'nung noticed that Y/n was staring off into space and looking a little unsure of herself, "What is it?"
Her eyes and ears lower, gaze pointedly staring down at her hands, "We mentioned honoring tradition earlier, then just now you reminded me of your stature. Maybe the Elders wouldn't appreciate the chief's son choosing a forest girl over one of their own."
Ao'nung scoffed, "The Elders don't care about that sort of thing. You are Na'vi. That's all that matters to them."
"But even you didn't think we were true Na'vi," her eyes flick up to his and his blood turned cold under her stare, "Not when we first arrived."
He slouched, ears drooping while his eyes softened into regret, fingers twitching with the need to reach out to her, but remained in his lap, "I was wrong."
"Maybe. But there are others who still think the same way you did. They still look at me, Lo'ak, and Kiri and think we are freaks. I am pretty sure even Tuk has more friends than us because she at least looks Na'vi."
"That is not why she has more friends," Ao'nung tries to smile, "Tuk is Tuk."
Y/n hums to herself, feeling one corner of her mouth twitch at the fond thought of her baby sister, "That's true."
"You..." Her eyes flick back up to Ao'nung when his voice didn't sound very confident. He wouldn't look her in the eyes, clearly feeling out of his comfort zone. She patiently waited for him to speak, occupying herself by watching drips of water fall off his brow or glisten in his hair, the sun reflecting off his wet braids like diamonds. Y/n's chest squeezed, but it wasn't an uncomfortable feeling. It was warm and it was spreading over her like a comforting blanket that her mother would leave beside the fire. Her thoughts are disrupted when Ao'nung finally finds the courage to look up, "You have never once doubted yourself like that. Lo'ak and Kiri sometimes still look at themselves and hate what they see, but not you. You've never doubted yourself, Y/n, so why start now?"
"It doesn't matter whether or not I despise how I look," she carefully answers, feeling small and scrutinized under his disbelieving gaze, "It matters what everyone else would think if they knew you were courting a deformed freak."
"You are not deformed."
"No?" She bitterly questioned, frowning as she lifted up her hand to him, purposely wiggling her pinky finger, "This doesn't freak you out? It is alien."
"So what?" He reached out for her hand, "An extra finger just means there is more of you to hold."
The response stuns her to the point she didn't react when Ao'nung slipped his hand into hers. Looking down, she stared at their joined hands, fingers wrapped around one another in an ornament of two different colors. Looking back, their skin tones complimented each other beautifully together, and the contrast just made sense. Y/n was still amazed about how big Ao'nung's hand was compared to hers, despite being the same age. Once those thoughts vanish, all that's left are Ao'nung's smooth words and the color slowly rising in her ears.
Y/n scoffs, trying to play it off, "Do you think yourself charming?"
Ao'nung grinned, "Only for you, ma'yawntu."
The term of endearment surprises her out of a laugh, playfully horrified, "Eywa, no."
"Paskalin?"
"Stop."
"Syulang?"
"Please, you are embarrassing."
"I got all day, tìyawn." Ao'nung laughed, "What would you like me to call you?"
"How about my name?" She asked sarcastically.
His smile was wide, bright, and downright beautiful. It took all of Y/n's willpower not to melt right then and there, "Of course, Forest Girl. It's what I prefer anyway."
"I'm sure it is, Seaweed Brain."

Ronal's baby was born in the traditional way, in a water birth ceremony called the First Breath, where the whole clan gathers around in shallow water to celebrate. Now, normally the tsahik would help the mother guide her newborn to the surface to take its first breath, but seeing as Ronal was the one expecting, one village healer and Tsireya were chosen to help her. This was a new kind of ceremony for the Sullys so they hadn't fully participated until after the baby was born, then they proceeded to celebrate with the rest of the Metkayina.
Kailani was a beautiful baby girl and everyone adored her. Nearly everyone wanted to see her and hold her. As the newest baby in the village, she had earned herself a lot of attention and was loved by all, especially her older brother and sister. Ao'nung was little enough that he couldn't remember when Tsireya was born, and Tsireya had always been the youngest, so this was the first time either of the chief's children experienced what it was like to have a new baby in the family... and it showed.
This became obvious a month into Kailani's life when Tuk came out of nowhere and started to drag Y/n and Kiri by their hands toward Ronal and Tonowari's marui, "Come on, come on! I wanna see the baby!"
The teen girls reluctantly follow their little sister, smiling fondly at Tuk's excitement. It was adorable to see that Tuk didn't have much experience with babies either. Approaching the pod, it was obvious neither tsahik nor olo'eyktan was home, and yet there were soft cries coming out of the marui. Tuk drops her sisters' hands and runs in while Y/n and Kiri dutifully follow. Walking inside, they find Tsireya and Ao'nung sitting close together, appearing a little worried and exhausted while looking down at the small baby lying in her big brother's arms. Both of the reef teenagers looked up when they heard someone enter, and Tsireya waved them over, "Have either of you seen our mother?"
Kiri and Y/n exchange a look before the former responds, "She's in the healer's hut. A warrior came in all scraped up from getting thrown against the coral reef."
"What is wrong?" Y/n asked.
"She won't stop crying," Tsireya admits shamefully, looking a little distraught, "We do not know why. We fed and changed her, but--"
"Have my sisters help," Tuk confidently offers without missing a beat, proud at her idea, "They know about babies. They helped Mama take care of me when I was little."
Tsireya and Ao'nung pointedly look up at the older Sully sisters, their eyes desperately pleading. Kiri was initially going to scoff at Tuk for her idea before Y/n wordlessly stepped forward and knelt down in front of Ao'nung. One look and she could tell why Kailani was so upset. Her tiny body wasn't exactly held close to Ao'nung's body but was instead held in his arms and in his lap. It didn't look comfortable and Y/n pitied the child.
"Here," Y/n offered, leaning over and helping Ao'nung adjust his hold on his baby sister, having him lift Kailani up from his lap and making sure he kept supporting her neck, "Babies need a lot of skin-to-skin contact at the beginning of their lives. It helps them bond with their mothers and other members of their family."
Y/n helps Ao'nung lift Kai until she's nestled snugly against his chest, her face protected in the crook of his neck. Almost immediately, the baby calms down, trying to bury her cold little nose into her brother's warm skin. Ao'nung is unable to speak or look away from Y/n, his ears only perking up as a sign he is listening when she keeps on explaining, "Try not to pinch her tswin. Without any hair to protect it yet, the tswin can be extra sensitive."
Kiri smiled softly to herself as Y/n continued to list several things Tsireya and Ao'nung could do, both of them listening with intense determination, all the while Kiri could only think about her older sister. It really was a shame that Y/n didn't want to take on the role of tsakarem, instead passing it along to Kiri when her adopted sister had shown an interest. Y/n still remembered a thing or two about healing from when Mo'at had begun to teach her, but from what Kiri understood, Y/n would get easily distracted and would beg their grandmother to dismiss her so she could go find Neteyam and train alongside him to become a warrior. Mo'at eventually gave in, fondly stating how Y/n was just like her mother, then proceeded to name Kiri her successor.
While Y/n may not like the method of healing and preferred hunting, she was still pretty knowledgeable when it was needed, and as Tuk said, she and Kiri remembered what it was like having a new baby in the family. Tsireya and Ao'nung appeared incredibly grateful for Y/n... but Kiri couldn't help but grin under her hand while looking at the way Ao'nung was staring at her older sister. The way his mouth formed such a secretive smile without the intention of showing it, his eyes subtly falling from Y/n's eyes to watch her lips as she spoke before flicking back up to her eyes before anyone would notice. But Kiri noticed, and she eventually had to look away because she felt as though she was intruding on something so intimate.
Rotxo had told Kiri and Spider about the mysterious arrowhead-shaped tooth that suddenly appeared around Y/n's neck one day, but the adopted Sullys didn't want to believe it. Lo'ak had scoffed, rolling his eyes and refusing to talk about it, but Neytiri had overheard and had this all-knowing smile on her face as she cooked over the hearth when her children walked back into the marui after bidding Rotxo goodnight. Jake and Tuk were none the wiser but Kiri had a feeling that her father was like Lo'ak, trying to ignore that something was clearly going on between Ao'nung and Y/n. Now, it was more obvious than ever.
~~~~~~~~~
While Y/n had not been able to complete all of her rites of passage alongside Rotxo and Ao'nung, she and the other Sully children still cheered them on and celebrated alongside them, especially after watching in amazement to see how a young Metkayina must finish certain challenges alongside their bonded tulkun brother or sister. After finishing those trials, along with taming their own skimwings, Ao'nung and Rotxo were gifted a special article of clothing, their first tattoo as warriors of the clan, and three beads for their songcords. Everyone was proud of the reef boys, now celebrated as young men among their People.
Next was going to be Y/n. She was determined to follow suit, as were Lo'ak and Kiri. They went out to practice for their trials every day, playfully competing with one another. Whilst Kiri was planning on becoming a healer in the tribe, she still wanted to tame a tsurak as her rite of passage and receive a Metkayina tattoo meant to signify healing. Jake and Neytiri were not sure how to feel about three of their children rushing toward adulthood, but they were supportive either way. The older Sully children tried very hard not to exclude Spider in the many training exercises, but he goodnaturedly shooed them away and told them to have fun and train hard. He may not be able to follow them, but he will still cheer them on from the sidelines, being there in spirit.
Lo'ak passed his trial with Payakan with flying colors, and now he and his sisters would move on to taming their own tsurak. Kiri did so with ease, her attachment to Eywa helping her befriend the mighty skimwing instead of mastering it. All of her siblings cheered for her from the docks, watching her disappear to wander with her new friend beyond the sea wall. Lo'ak was determined to go next, and while it looked a little rocky at times, he too, mastered his own warrior's mount, and Jake yelped and whooped proudly for his son. Lo'ak also left the safety of the lagoon to explore with his new friend and likely introduce him to Payakan.
When it was Y/n's turn to go tame a skimwing, Ao'nung approached her and spoke quietly under his breath, "Remember. The tsurak are temperamental creatures. Much like an ikran, you have to work hard to form a strong and loyal bond with them."
"Got it," Y/n nodded in acknowledgment, wrapping leather around her knuckles per her father's advice. Speaking of whom, Jake was approaching his daughter so Ao'nung simply nodded his head toward Toruk Makto and walked away to stand beside his own father.
Jake narrowed his eyes as he watched Ao'nung leave before softening his gaze and speaking down to his firstborn, "You're your mother's daughter. That makes you the best flyer and hunter on an ikran, so this will be a cakewalk for you. Tonowari told me that the ikran and the tsurak share a distant ancestor, so it's easy to see where they get their stubbornness from. You know how to tame stubbornness. You'll be a pro at this."
Y/n tried her very best not to visibly shrink up under her father's advice and praise. She wants to stand tall and proud under his words of affirmation now that they're starting to see eye-to-eye, but it is still a work in progress. She's not used to her father being so encouraging as of late, due to him stressing out over the war, moving away, and losing a son, so it was still a big step that needed adjusting. So, Y/n instead smiled widely up at her father and whispered a small thank you before rushing over to get the tsahik and olo'eyktan's blessing.
Ronal and Tonowari bid Y/n good luck with their own hidden smiles while Tsireya shared her confidence for her friend and lifted Kailani's arm up to wave at the Sully girl for encouragement. Ao'nung flashed his forest girl his own secret smile and a small nod, barely noticeable to the naked eye. Y/n practically beamed and with a new wave of confidence, turned and ran down the long dock to the very end, diving gracefully into the water.
All forms of sealife greet her underwater, her breath held as she forced herself not to get distracted. Since that fateful day against the Sky People, Y/n had been training herself to hold her breath longer, hoping to never have to worry anyone over her drowning ever again, not wanting to be a burden. Without wasting any time, she called out for a skimwing to approach her.
She had managed to find a school of fish Ao'nung told her was the tsurak's favorite snack, so she swam close to the fish and continued to call out, her heart singing when her strategy worked and a familiar beast gradually glided toward her, its powerful, scaled body creating a disturbance in the water. Looking like a Terran gharial, the tsurak approached with purpose and demanded to be respected, other small fish species quickly scattering to avoid it. With its long, sword-like snout, it gave itself personal space, and with its beady, soulless eyes, it analyzed Y/n. For an animal that was nearly domesticated with the Metkayina, Y/n wasn't worried about whether or not the creature deemed her as a threat, but then again, she looked different compared to all the other Na'vi the tsurak likely grew up with, and it was possible the skimwing could smell the part of her that descends from demons.
Y/n didn't take the kind and befriending approach as Kiri did. That form of taming only works for someone as Eywa-blessed at Y/n's adopted sister. Instead, she kept herself between the beast and its likely prey, the schoolfish behind her. The threat was clear. If it wanted to eat, the tsurak would have to go through her first.
The reptilian-looking fish didn't appear insulted by the threat and leisurely swayed side to side, jaw gradually opening and closing to breathe while stuck in place, showing off its small rows of razor-sharp teeth while staring Y/n down and waiting for the right opening to strike. Y/n slowly and carefully pulled her kuru braid over her shoulder all the while keeping her eyes locked on the tsurak. As they continued with this ocean version of a standoff, Y/n gradually began to inch forward, only moving in small, very slow strokes of water.
When she got too close, the tsurak opened its jaws and snapped down, quick as lightning, but Y/n was prepared for it. Much like taming an ikran, she quickly moved out of the way before the creature could bite her head off and, using her knuckles and palms now wrapped in leather, clamped down on the jaws of the creature, keeping it shut with as much muscle she could muster while using her newly found momentum to quickly swim onto the skimwing's back, never letting go. Knowing she would only have a second before the creature was no longer stunned, Y/n let go of the jaw with one hand and quickly grabbed her braid, immediately forming the tsaheylu.
The beast wiggled and then paused, swaying calmly back and forth as the connection was made. With her lungs slightly beginning to burn, Y/n didn't panic but also didn't hesitate to give the creature the order to resurface, now letting her other hand let go of the tsurak's snout in good faith. She promises to let the tsurak eat, later, if he swam up for air.
As quick as a bullet, the tsurak follows its new rider's order, shooting up through the water at great speed. Y/n nearly forgot to hang on tight, clamping her thighs down on the creature's back as tight as she could, her ears beginning to pop at the very sudden water pressure as they rose higher toward the surface. Sunlight was coming in fast and, before she knew it, Y/n was out of the water, leaping through the air, and plunging back into the ocean, all while still holding on tightly to the back of her very own tsurak. The beast resurfaces more gently this time and stays leisurely swimming above the water, giving Y/n much-needed time to breathe. She smiles when she can hear scattered cheering from the beach and docks but keeps on task, trying to stay focused. She has yet to fly with her new ride.
Adjusting her grip on the creature, she gives her new order, clenching her thighs again while preparing for the powerful beast's ascent. The tsurak begins to speed up, faster and faster until it's zipping through the water like a ship. Eventually, it gains enough momentum and the creature lets out its wings, extending them until they begin to catch air, and then the body rises out of the water. Y/n hangs on tight, stamping down the anxiety in her gut, sharing her determination and willpower through her new bond so the skimwing knows she means business. There is no room for failure.
The tsurak doesn't stumble, doesn't break, and doesn't lose focus. As they sail, the pair sails gracefully without a single wiggle or wobble. Y/n can faintly hear cheering in the distance but doesn't let it phase her. One more test. She gives the order and holds her breath, immediately bending down and pressing her body tightly against the creature's back.
The tsurak retracts its wings and points its snout down, briefly falling through the air before diving straight into the water below. The impact and mighty force of it all was much more powerful than riding an ilu, and Y/n had to hold on for dear life. Water rushed through her ears and she squinted her eyes in order to see better, but she held on and she held firmly. She would rather get her arm pulled off than let go, so she held on tighter, her leather wraps doing the trick to give her a better grip. One last order and Y/n feels the pair of them shooting back up through the water and into the air again, and this time, Y/n hoots triumphantly at the top of her lungs, hanging on tightly with one hand but throwing her other fist in the air, her trial complete.
Several people are cheering with her on the beach and in the water. Spider, Tuk, and Jake are whooping and hollering like party animals, ecstatic for their daughter and sister. Ao'nung and Rotxo are cheering alongside them, along with several other Metkayina watching the event. Y/n beams proudly at all of them from a distance, then proceeds to follow Kiri and Lo'ak's lead and head for open waters.
Ao'nung is smiling just as proudly from the beach, and once Y/n takes off, so does he. The chief's son immediately breaks into a sprint down the side of the beach, diving into the water before another word can be said. Once below the surface, he calls for his own skimwing and takes off after the Sully girl.
The only one who appeared to notice Ao'nung slip away was Neytiri, but she appeared to be smiling as she watched the reef boy chase after her daughter. A brief wave of déjà vu washed over her as she watched until she couldn't see either tsurak anymore. She smiled fondly, proud and filled with unimaginable joy as she had witnessed history repeat itself, much like it had with her when she first chased after Jake on their ikran.
The new warriors do not stay out for long. When eclipse comes, Y/n, Ao'nung, Lo'ak, and Kiri return for the Sully children's ceremony. The sunlight disappears and it's replaced with a bioluminescent glow everywhere, as far as the eyes could see. Lo'ak, Y/n, and Kiri stand before Ronal and Tonowari as they are presented with their rewards, their article of clothing, and the beads for their songcords to signify this triumphant milestone of adulthood. The Na'vi believe that every person is born twice and the second time is when a Na'vi finds his or her place among the People forever.
Once Ronal and Tonowari bestow the three Sullys their first tattoos, they were officially one with the Metkayina, marked with warrior and healer ink. Everyone gathered around the new young adults and congratulated them, making room for the parents to squeeze their way through the crowd and finally gather their children up. Neytiri held her children against her, joyous tears in her eyes even as her heart broke, mourning their childhoods but celebrating their futures. Jake held his children just as tightly but didn't make a sound, afraid of what would come out if he tried to talk.
The ceremony gave way to celebration, large bonfires lining up and down the beach, the flames rising high into the night sky, embers blinking down on Eywa's children along with the stars above. The Metkayina dance together in wide circles around the fires, conjoined in several different rings, moving in opposite directions as they sang, talked, laughed, ate, and drank to their hearts' content.
Y/n found herself dancing around a fire that was shared by most of the newest warriors of the tribe, people around her own age, and her brother and Kiri. There were so many fires along the beach, however, so it would be nearly impossible to find out which ones her other family members were socializing at, hidden among the chaotic crowds of flailing limbs and boisterous songs. She allowed herself to let loose and cared little about what others thought of her, letting the swoa warm her stomach and the fire her skin. She stuck close to Kiri and Tsireya for a short while before the chief's daughter ran off to find Lo'ak. Y/n and Kiri playfully rolled their eyes before the latter decided to turn in for the night-- which is just code for she was going to keep Spider company so their adopted brother didn't feel left out. Y/n let her sister go without complaint, giving her a brief hug and voicing how proud she was of her. Kiri smiled brightly under the praise and took off, leaving Y/n's heart feeling warm as well. Getting roped back into dancing, Y/n danced without a care in the world, not bothered by whether or not she looked bad, and sang with the others until she was breathless. The celebration was getting to be too disorderly with everyone having so much fun that faces had begun to blur and sometimes when people danced, they were spinning too fast to figure out their bearings.
But Y/n let her feet carry her to her intended destination, and that was right into Ao'nung's arms. With her family elsewhere and other Metkayina having too much fun to otherwise gape at the sight, Y/n danced with the chief's son for practically the whole night, tired and out of breath, but never wanting to stop. She couldn't help it. With the fire lighting one side of his face and the bioluminescent ocean lighting the other, Ao'nung looked ethereal, and Y/n couldn't stop her rapidly beating heart even if she wanted to.
Ao'nung only looked at her, never caring about who saw them, his smile gentle and eyes proud, not helping the flips Y/n's stomach was taking. Her body felt like it was on fire in the best way possible under his gaze, and maybe it was the lighting, maybe it was the liquid courage, or maybe it was the way he was looking at her, but her mind was open and her voice was knocked loose from her throat as she pulled her reef boy close to her and whispered so only he could hear the words that she knew, deep down, were only meant for him, "Ao'nung. Oel ngati kameie."
Ao'nung's eyes briefly widened, mouth falling open in shock, yet he couldn't take a breath in. The fire didn't help the blooming fire in the forest girl's yellow eyes, piercing up at his and leaving him breathless, unable to come up for air. She didn't look afraid or even bothered by his reaction, instead, she smiled, a little cheekily, as if she could see just how much she affected him. Slowly, he comes back to his senses, a smile slowly creeping up his lips once more. His hands gently cup both sides of her face, marveling at how her entire head fit perfectly in his palms, while her reasonably smaller hands move to hold his sides, keeping his body close to hers. Ao'nung leans in, taking a small breath in through his nose, memorizing her scent before he gently fits his lips against hers, to which she responds in kind. The kiss tasted like sea salt and swoa, but neither complained, closing their eyes and reveling in their closeness.
Despite her lessons, Y/n regrettably needed to pull away for air, and when the kiss broke, her soft pants ghosted across Ao'nung's skin, hot and prickly, and when her eyes opened, she stared up at him through her eyelashes, cheeks slightly flushed. It took a tremendous amount of willpower to relax his body, his heart racing to the tempo of drums playing somewhere in the crowd. Eventually, his mind clears and he manages to find words again, leaning his forehead into his forest girl's.
"Ma'yawntutsyìp Y/n. Oel ngati kameie."
~~~~~~~~~
Neytiri sees everything when it comes to her children, especially her firstborn daughter. That girl is a spitting image of the mother who birthed her, except for the little human features she inherited from her father, so Neytiri often knew what was going on in Y/n's head because she had been in her daughter's footsteps. Neytiri was young once. She knew what it was like to be in love.
Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite had seen the lingering glances, the stares when the other wasn't looking, and the smiles that were only shared between each other. Furthermore, Neytiri had noticed the arrowhead on Y/n's necklace the second she came home that day, and then the mother noticed Ao'nung anxiously waiting to get out there and chase her daughter into the sea astride their tsurak. And of course, even in the vast crowds lining the beach the night of Y/n's ceremony, Neytiri could see the young pair kissing, unbothered by the amount of people around them. It felt as though no one had seen them but her.
And yet, she had not said a word. Much like Y/n and Ao'nung's sisters, Neytiri intended to take their secret to the grave if it meant seeing her eldest daughter smile again. Sure, Neytiri was fiercely protective of her children, but she would never refuse her child when it came to whatever made them happy... especially after she had lost Neteyam.
So Neytiri kept quiet and just watched from a distance. Now that three of her children were seen as adults among the Metkayina, their tattoos a physical sign as such, she wasn't gonna go around telling them what to do anymore and just enjoyed their company while it lasted. After all, soon they will choose men or women to be with... and not long after that, Neytiri will find her marui emptier than the day before.
One fateful day, Neytiri found herself alone with Y/n in their family pod, cooking some fish over the fire to prepare meals for the rest of the Sullys to take with them throughout the day. It was a quiet and comfortable morning until Ao'nung showed up, respectfully greeting Neytiri before asking Y/n if she would like to join the other warriors on a hunt that afternoon.
Y/n perked up at the offer, her smile brightening under Ao'nung's gaze. Wordlessly, she nudges Neytiri's shoulder with her forehead, and her mother leans into the touch before the daughter draws away and stands up. Y/n briefly grabs Ao'nung's arm before diving into the water with the intention of having him follow her. Ao'nung stayed a second longer, lingering in the doorway of Neytiri's home when he noticed the woman staring at him. Despite wanting her daughter's happiness, Neytiri also wants her daughter to be safe, so she briefly glares at the chief's son before simply looking back down at her task, "If she gets hurt, I pluck your eyes out."
For some reason, he knew she wasn't talking about the hunting party.
That same night, during communal dinner, Neytiri could see just how obvious Ao'nung and Y/n looked. Instead of sitting with her family, Y/n sat with his, conversing between him and Tsireya without a care in the world. Occasionally, the chief's son would try to sneak a kiss on the forest girl's cheek, hiding it by pretending to whisper in her ear. Y/n would smile shyly, her pinky finger subtly reaching out for his hand whilst she talked to his sister.
This time, Neytiri wasn't the only one who noticed, and she cursed herself for not trying to distract her husband sooner instead of openly gawking at the young pair with him. The moment Ao'nung reached for Y/n's pinky finger, Neytiri could feel her husband tense up beside her. Immediately, she knew what was about her happen once her mate quickly stood up and she was helpless to stop it.
"Jake--" She had gotten up as well but it was too late. Her mate had already stormed off in the direction of their daughter. Several eyes throughout the communal meal turned in their direction and Neytiri could feel their stares prickling along her back, her other children now aware of something wrong when she stood.
"Mama?" Tuk asked.
The older Sully children immediately clock the situation once they follow their mother's gaze, seeing their father clearly out for blood as he beelines for the chief's family. Spider immediately scrambles to his feet, "Shit--"
Neytiri didn't know whether to hiss at or agree with Spider's observation, her feet taking her to where Jake was going, the rest of her children now standing up to follow her as well, abandoning their meals. Neytiri would not make it in time, but even from where she was, she could hear the commotion already starting when Jake reached down and grabbed Y/n's arm, pulling her to her feet and away from Ao'nung, "Alright, young lady. Time to talk."
"Dad, what--"
Ao'nung immediately rose to his feet without thinking. Neytiri almost pitied him, "Sir--"
Jake's glare fell on Ao'nung, his voice dropping low to a tone only the military side of him could produce, "And you, boy. Did you mate with my daughter?"
"Dad!"
Y/n's exclamation further drew the attention of the tsahik and olo'eyktan, along with even more Metkayina sitting around the growing commotion. Neytiri could see Ronal and Tonowari stand up as well, their eyes only on Jake and their son, dread forming in her gut at the idea of what might happen next. Ronal handed Kailani over to Tsireya and marched with her mate over to the confrontation as Jake continued to talk down to her son.
"And whatever you say better be the answer I'm hoping for, young man. So choose your words wisely."
Neytiri finally reached her husband and grabbed his arm, opening her mouth to try and get him to calm down while the rest of their children stood around them and simply observed with worried glances. Ao'nung glared only at Jake, his shoulders squared back, and stepped up no doubt to defiantly say something stupid before Y/n stopped him from where she stood behind her father.
"Ao'nung," she warned loudly, to which his eyes flicked to hers at the sound of her voice.
Time stilled as everyone turned to Y/n, waiting to hear what she had to say, even her father. She didn't look at anyone else other than her lover. All Y/n had to do was flatten her ears and just ever so slightly tilt her head, eyes locked on his the whole time for Ao'nung to get the message, loud and clear. His shoulders lower and visibly calms himself under her stare, and in response, Ao'nung merely nods. The young Metkayina backed down, stepping away from Toruk Makto and glancing off to the side, eyes and ears lowered like an injured nantang pup. Jake's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, glancing between Ao'nung and his daughter, trying to figure out what had just happened.
From beside Lo'ak, Kiri silently gasps behind her hand as she whispers to the younger brother, "Oh, my Eywa. He's so whipped for her."
"Bro-- shut up," Lo'ak hissed back, glaring at his sister's tiny amused smile while Spider laughed under his breath.
Jake didn't have time to berate his other children as he shook off his confusion and his wife's arm, letting go of Y/n's bicep but keeping her frozen to the spot under his cold, scrutinizing glare, "Look at me, young lady," she refused at first, eyes flicking elsewhere in shame and fear, "Look at me."
Her frown twitches just as the fear dissipates, her usual distaste for authority returning. Her eyes harden as she purposely and slowly glares up at her father through her eyebrows, her entire posture now defiant and standing strong against him.
Either Jake didn't notice this subtle change in body language or he didn't care, glaring right back at her, "Tell me the truth. It's a simple yes or no. Did you mate with him?"
She flashed her fangs, grinding out her response between her teeth, "No, sir."
"Do you plan on it?"
"I do not see how that is any of your business anymore."
"Y/n, where I'm from, you're still too young to have a family," he points back to Ao'nung without ever taking his eyes off his daughter, "And he is the chief's son--"
"You can't tell me who I can or cannot be with when Mom went against everyone and everything she believed in to be with you," her tone was strong and accusatory, throwing Jake into a state of shock as he nearly stumbles back. Y/n stood strong against her father, her words bold and as destructive as a tsunami wave, "I would not exist if you hadn't gone off and mated with the chief's daughter so don't you dare try to sound as if you are above such scandal."
"Oh, snap," Spider muttered, earning an elbow to his chest from Lo'ak.
The entire commotion had been driven to silence, everyone waiting with bated breath as to what would happen next. Neytiri felt both fear and pride for her daughter, again, feeling history repeat itself through the eyes of her child. Tonowari finally broke the silence and the stand-off by stepping between Jake and Y/n and placing a comforting hand on Toruk Makto's shoulder, all the while pointedly staring at each and every Na'vi who was openly watching the family feud, "I think it is time for everyone to return to their meals."
Ronal backs up her mate's demand by glaring at all the bystanders, "Go on."
The Metkayina scatter, either to return to their seats or avert their eyes back to their food, the silence now filled with casual mumbling among the People. Jake's ears droop when he realizes the size of the audience he attracted by his outburst and he has the decency to look ashamed. He peers back to his family and mutters, "Lo'ak. Spider. Take the girls home."
"I can walk myself home, thank you very much," Y/n snarled dangerously, stepping around Tonowari and her father and stomping through the parting sea of Na'vi who dared to get in her way.
Tuk pouted and stomped her foot defiantly, "So can I!"
Kiri sighs in mental exhaustion toward her baby sister, "Tuk..."
Once the other Sully kids gathered and vanished from the meal, Tonowari glanced between Ao'nung and Jake, "Let us return to my home to further discuss this."
Ronal gestured Neytiri over to her before looking over her shoulder to address Tsireya, "Stay here, ma'ite."
Tsireya nodded appropriately, keeping Kailani close to her chest as she flashed a small look of encouragement to Ao'nung. She watched her parents and brother walk out of the community marui, the Sullys following suit. Neytiri walks out into the night with her husband's hand in hers, squeezing his fingers in encouragement.
Once the group was safe inside Ronal and Tonowari's home, Jake immediately apologized, "Brother, forgive me for my actions against your family. I was out of line and your son did not deserve my behavior toward him."
Tonowari raised his hand to gently silence him, "I will not fault a father for just trying to protect his child. There is nothing to forgive. Ao'nung is still young and has much to learn. Before he began to court your daughter, he should have gone to you for your blessing immediately."
Ao'nung, clearly embarrassed, kept his head down while he quietly whined, "Father, please--"
"You are the one who wishes to court Toruk Makto's daughter, boy," Tonowari directed his gaze to his son, eyes darkening but not as a threat, but in disappointment, "As the future of our clan, you should have done what tradition demands."
Jake took pity on Ao'nung, watching the way a father looked down on his son, immediately thrown back to the past when he, too, looked down on Neteyam and Lo'ak, and instantly knew he had to speak up this time, "No. I don't blame your son for not coming to me. I don't deserve that sort of respect. Y/n is strong-willed and she knows I don't deserve the respect of being her father or any traditions that require me to be so. If anything, she would much rather have Ao'nung ask for my sons' blessings over my own because her brothers respect her as an individual who can make her own decisions... unlike me."
Tonowari nods, looking back to meet eyes with his mate. Ronal shares a silent conversation with him before the chief turns back to the Sullys, "If it is any consultation, Jakesully, Ronal and I have approved of this match a long time ago."
Ao'nung's head perks up with interest, "You did?"
Jake's question echoed Ao'nung's, equally shocked, "You did?"
The chief explains with a distant look in his eyes, "I was much like my son at that age. Arrogant, crude, and desperate to please the other reef boys around me. All it took was to find Ma Ronal to get my head back on straight. From that day on, I only ever ran after her."
Ronal pointedly looks at Neytiri, her chin held high, "Even though he is destined to be olo'eyktan one day, my son has never shown interest in a mate. Never. Not once. That is... until he met your daughter."
Neytiri took Ronal's stare as an opening for her to add to the discussion, raising her hand to gently take her husband's arm to grab his attention, "Jake. I already knew."
Jake turned back to her, still shocked and sounding like a broken record, "You did?"
"Everyone did," she nodded, smiling slightly, "Apart from you. Why do you think none of us have said anything before now? It is because we have accepted it and even approved of the match. We all would have said something sooner if we were against it. Y/n is taronyu now and she does not need our permission to live her life anymore. She never had."
Jake takes a moment to collect his thoughts, breathing deeply in and out slowly through his nose. He stared off into space, conflicted with a war going on in his head before Neytiri simply squeezed his arm and he returned to the present. Jake looked back at his wife before raising his white flag, turning his gaze onto Ao'nung with an expression of guilt.
"I am sorry, Ao'nung. I shouldn't have accused you of anything. I know Y/n is capable of taking care of herself and I know she wouldn't have given you the time of day if she didn't think you were a good man," Ao'nung stands up straighter, appearing grateful and nodding to Jake before the former marine turned to Tonowari, "We'll take our leave now. I apologize for interrupting your supper."
Jake takes Neytiri's hand again and they walk home, speaking as they walk so their conversation is kept private before they would have to face their children, "Does he have to court her now? They're too young."
Neytiri hums in agreement, "Courting sometimes takes years, Ma Jake."
"It wasn't with us."
She hums again, only it was full of fond amusement, "If I recall, you never courted me."
A small grin played on his lips, a little drained from tonight's events, but it was genuine all the same as he playfully spoke, "No, but if I recall, you knew exactly what you were doing taking me out there to the Tree of Voices, alone, wearing your hair like that and wearing that lovely top--"
"Ma Jake!" Neytiri gasped in astonishment, gently slapping his chest and laughing as they finally made it home.
The parents quiet their amusement before they walk into the marui, instantly met with five pairs of eyes, four yellow and one brown. While the rest of their children stared expectedly at them, Y/n immediately looked away, ears pulled back in embarrassment and tucking her knees up to her chest.
Jake immediately beelines for Y/n, slowly sitting down beside her as he wraps an arm around her shoulders, "I'm sorry."
Conflict flashes over her face. It felt as though she and her father were back at square one, fighting as though they hadn't already sorted out their issues. Then again, this wasn't Neteyam, or the war, or Y/n's depression. Jake was just trying to be the classic overprotective parent he was always meant to be. He wasn't acting as a soldier. He was acting as a father, and that's all Y/n had ever wanted from him. Slowly, she melts into her father's embrace and sighs, "I know. You were just being my father. That is not something I'll ever blame you for. Just... don't be so embarrassing next time."
Jake and the rest of the children laugh while he just holds Y/n close. Neytiri smiles at the scene, trying to memorize it as best as she can so she can share it with Neteyam the next time she visits her son. After all, Y/n was one step closer to moving out of their family marui and wouldn't be able to hug her father like this as often as they used to. As sad as that made Neytiri feel, she was comforted by the fact that Ao'nung was kind and good to her daughter, and she would never be alone again.

Masterlist /// Previous /// Next
Tonowari stood at the edge of the beach, staring out at the endless expanse of water that stretched out before him. It had been a week since his mate had been taken by the enemy, but the pain in his heart had not lessened.
He missed you so much, and the thought of never seeing her again was almost too much to bear. He had retreated to the beach, hoping that the sound of the waves crashing against the shore would soothe his troubled soul.
As he stood there, lost in his thoughts, for who knows how long until he felt a presence approach him. Thinking it was one of the hunters, he shook off his thoughts and prepared to speak to his clan member. But to his surprise, it was Jake.
Tonowari stayed silent as he watched the warrior come closer to him, coming to a stop next to him. “Mind if I join you?” he asked the Olo’eyktan, who made a little hand movement, signaling that it was alright. Over the last few months, Tonowari and Jake grew closer, even becoming friends, they had a few things in common; being a clan leader and the burden of it, experience in battle; and most of all, a family that they’d protect with their life.
Jake sat down, and patted the ground, silently asking Tonowari to take a seat as well. He obliged, taking in the view of the ocean. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Jake said, trying to break the heavy silence that hung between them. Tonowari nodded but didn't say anything. He was lost in his thoughts, consumed by the pain of his loss. Speaking felt all too difficult for him on some days, as if his mouth was filled with endless sand, scratching his tongue and trickling done his throat.
Jake knew better than to push him to talk, so he simply sat there in silence, his presence a comforting reminder that he was not alone. Tonowari wanted to talk, he didn’t know about what, but he wanted to talk. The only problem was that he didn’t want to speak; he didn’t want to utter a single word, for that is how he handled his grief. So he settled on the next best thing, signing.
« I miss her » he signed, hoping that Jake caught on.
“Huh- Oh…”
« I miss her so terribly much. She is my everything and she was taken from me » he continued «It was my purpose to protect her; to make her happy. I failed. I failed her, Jake… »
Jake sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know, tsmukan. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through right now. I know it hurts; I feel your suffering.”
« I don’t know how to go on without her » he signed, feeling utterly depressed, tears gathering in his eyes, threatening to spill.
“You have to go on. I know it’s hard; I hit rock bottom once too. But once you do, the only way is up.” he retaliated, tightening his grip on his friend’s shoulder “You have to be strong for your people; for your children. They need you, now more than ever! Be there for them. Be their rock.”
Hearing this brought a sense of responsibility over Tonowari. Jake was right, he needs to be strong for his people and his family. Tonowari looked out at the ocean again, his mind racing with thoughts and memories. He knew that it would be difficult but he would manage, he was the leader after all; everyone believed in him and he couldn’t let them lose that trust. He would do his best to bring his people happiness, just like you did. He would be like you. Now that he thought about it, it was all the small things you did that spread joy throughout the village. You did so many good things and everyone enjoyed them; your parties, the dances you learned with the performers, your singing -oh how he missed your singing… your gentle voice- the list goes on and on. Tonowari would do everything you did, to the best of his abilities.
After a few more moments the two men got back on their feet, looking at each other. Tonowari signed «Thank you, brother» before reaching his arm out for their handshake. Jake cracked a smile and joined in. Not long after the two parted ways, Jake was on his way back to the village and Tonowari still walking along the beach.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Tonowari walked along the beach, the sun beating down on his back. He decided to go visit your favorite spot, a small cove filled with shells and small wildlife. Approaching the cove, he saw his son, Ao'nung, sitting alone in the sand, staring out at the ocean. Why was he here? Why wasn’t he with his friends?
“Ao'nung” Tonowari said, his voice soft. Ao'nung turned to him, eyes red-rimmed with tears. Seeing his usually happy and mischievous son like this made Tonowari’s heart crack a little as he sat down next to him, sighing. "What are you doing out here all alone?" he asked.
Ao'nung just shrugged, trying to avoid talking about his feelings. “Why aren’t you out having fun with your friends? A young boy shouldn’t be sitting all alone in an isolated cove all day. How did you find this place anyway…” his father tried again.
“Mom showed me… she said it was her favorite.” He uttered with a cracking voice. “That is true; this is your mother's favorite place. I spent a lot of time here with her. And… we took you here just after you were born. We were so happy” Tonowari smiled at the memories as he told his son about the little cove. Ao'nung liked listening to stories about you, so he asked “Did anything else happen here?”
Tonowari shuffled a bit closer, wrapping an arm around his son. “I asked her to be my mate here.” As he said this he felt Ao'nung’s ears and eyes twitch in curiosity “It was a beautiful day and I had planned it out for weeks. Your mother was actually quite oblivious to all my advances, so I had to sit her down and tell her very clearly that I wished to court her.” Tonowari chuckled “I led her here at noon so that no one would bother us. She thought we were going out for a picnic, which we actually did, but I wanted to give her a proper courting gift as well. I gifted her a beautiful necklace that I spent a week making myself. Do you know the one that she wears on special occasions? The one with the many shells and pearls?” His son nodded “That’s the one I gave her when she accepted. I was so happy that she wanted to be with me. It was one of the best days of my life” He grinned as he looked down at his son.
“I miss her, Dad. I miss her so much.” He said, his voice full of despair.
“I know, I miss her too…” Tonowari replied, patting his son's shoulder. “But we need to be happy. She wouldn’t want us to be sad right? Mama wants us to be happy… even if she isn’t here with us…” he tried to comfort his son.
A tear rolled down Ao'nung’s cheek “I don’t want to be happy… not when she’s not here. I feel guilty…”
“Ma’itan, listen. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I know that we will see her again. And until then, we have to live, we have to keep her within our hearts, and we have to live for her. She might be scared and unhappy, but if we live, welcoming every emotion, she will feel it; she will feel us. Through our great mother, Eywa. Do you understand?” He held eye contact with his son “We need to be strong. I need to be strong, but I can’t do it alone. So I need you and your sister to be strong. If we are, then Eywa will lead her back to us.”
Ao'nung felt a lot better after his father's little pep talk, he swore that he would try and live, he would try to be happy; for you. Together they sat at the shore, not talking, just enjoying the sea until it started getting darker. Tonowari spoke up “Come, we must head back, or else they will start sending out troops to find us.” He joked a little. Ao'nung cracked a smile and walked close next to his father, still feeling a little down. Of course, Tonowari noticed this and put his hand on Ao'nung’s shoulder “Don’t worry, everything will be alright” he comforted the boy as they walked.
After hearing that little pep talk
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Back at the village, they parted ways; Ao'nung joined his friends, that were hanging out with the Sully kids by a rock pool and Tonowari tended to his people.
The group saw Ao’nung coming and waved him over., geeking over Lo’ak. He sat down next to Tsireya and listened in to the conversation. They were talking about when the Tulkuk would return, but he didn’t care. His mind was swarmed with memories and thoughts about you. Were you okay? Were you going to come back? How long would it be till he would see you again? It was as if a light went on- the spirit tree. He could try to see you there.
Ao'nung pondered whether or not he should tell his sister when the group suddenly started getting up. Pushing his thoughts to the side, he stood up as well and looked at his sister in confusion. She got the memo and whispered to him “They have to go to a family meeting” “Ah- okay” he replied. The sullys left and Tsireya was about to accompany Lo’ak when Ao'nung called out to her “Hey wait- I need to talk to you. Alone.” he added, to make sure that the sully boy would leave.
His sister waved off the guy and then turned to him. “What's going on?” Ao'nung shuffled around and mumbled, “I’m going to the spirit tree, you wanna come with'?” He hoped that he would say yes; he didn’t want to go all alone.
Tsireya let out a little gasp “But it’s already eclipse… you know that we aren’t allowed to leave the reef this late…” Ao'nung rolled his eyes “Of course I know! But I have to go… I need to see Mom… you do too, right?”
Tsireya was unsure, she wanted to see you but she also do want to get in trouble with her already tense Father. The need to feel you again was greater than the one to not get in trouble. “Okay… but we can’t be seen!” She warned as Ao'nung started smirking.
They waited until most of the people retreated to their pods for the evening, then sneaking to the shore while calling for Ilus. Two instantly appeared and they looked around one last time before making the bond and diving under.
They traveled swiftly under the dense water, only seldomly coming up to the surface for air, having done this all their life. The Ilu passed the reef barrier unnoticed and soon they were out in the open sea, on their way to the cove of the ancestors.
Having been there many times, they didn’t even need to think about the way, they knew it by heart. Although they never imagined coming here together this late for a reason they could never have expected. A truly sad reason. As they closed the distance between them and the sacred place, Tsireya felt her eyes start to sting, quelling with tears, even under the water she felt the tears rolling off her cheeks, letting out little sniffles when she raised her head out of the water.
Ao'nung heard her little sounds of distress and slowed down, swimming closer to her. He gave her a look that asked if she was okay. That only made her shake her head and leg out little sobs. Her brother felt his heart sink, he hated seeing his sister like this, so unhappy. He gently pulled her and rested his head on hers, rubbing her back with his hand. “Hey… it’s okay… we can go back if you want?” “no…no, I wanna go… we came all this w-way…” she whimpered.
“Alright… it’s not much further” Ao'nung reassured her whilst slowly letting go of her. She rubbed the last of her tears away and followed her older brother's lead to the cove. The waves were calm and little whitecaps tickled her legs as the cove came into view.
Everything was silent except for the gentle sound of waves crashing against rock. The peaceful and familiar atmosphere calmed the teenagers down as they entered the sacred grounds. Ao'nung looked back to his sister, waiting for her to catch up.
Once together, they broke tsaheylu and swam closer to the tree. Tsireya gripped her brother's hand and he gave it a little squeeze in return. Taking a deep breath they dove under the water's surface, swimming closer calmly. Suddenly a sense of nervousness washed over them, not feeling ready to face you. But together they pushed forward, holding each other's hand until they were just in es apart from a bright leaf of the tree.
Reaching back, they both took a hold of their queue and brought it in front of them, close to their heart. With one last look at each other, they bonded with the tree. For a few moments they felt nothing, but as soon as they opened their eyes again they were met with sunshine. It was a strange feeling, to see the sun when they knew that it was dark. As they looked around more, they noticed that they were on the beach of the reef, somewhere where they spend most of their time.
It looked like the beach was empty, except for a slender figure, crouched down collecting shells. Instantly they recognized the figure, it was you. With unsteady steps Ao'nung started walking towards you, pulling his sister along with him.
There was barely any distance left between you when he spoke up “Mom?” with a shaky voice. Recognizing the voice you turned around looking up at them before standing up yourself, storing the little shoes in a pouch that was strapped to your hip.
You saw that sadness struck their faces and yours scrunched up in confusion “Is everything alright? Did something happen?” you asked with a concerned voice.
Tsireya looked down, not being able to answer so Ao'nung replied “N-no… everything’s okay,” with a shaky voice “we just m-missed you”, he couldn’t stop his hands from shaking while he held eye contact.
You cooed and pulled them close, each under one of your arms, and hugged them tightly. “Don’t worry parultsyìp, I’m right here. I’ll always be.” Hearing that made both of your children break down, being unable to hold back sobs of sorrow and pain, holding tightly onto you. This worried you even more. What had happened? Why were they so upset?
You gently guided them down onto the sand so that they could calm down, but they continued to cry. You didn’t know what to say, you’d never seen them like this before, so you just stayed silent; comforting them with gentle pats and little shushes.
This went on for a while, but you just let them cry it out; let them spill all their pushed-down emotions. You started stroking your fingers through their thick locks of hair and smiled, they’d inherited that from their father.
Their cries muted to sniffles and your hands tilted their chins up so you could see their faces. Eyes bloodshot and nose stuffy, they looked just as precious as always, you thought while gently caressing their small faces, even if they weren’t that small anymore.
“I missed you, mama…” you heard Tsireya whisper, not knowing what she meant because you’d been with them in the morning. “I missed you too 'itetsyìp” you have her a little kiss on top of her head. You noticed your son shuffle a little and out of maternal instinct, you knew that he wanted affection as well. “I missed you too ma'itan” you smiled and gave him the same little kiss on the head.
They both snuggled closer, never letting you go. You knew that they didn’t want to talk about whatever happened so you just let them be, spending some quality time with them. The three of you stayed silent, enjoying each other’s presence as you watched the ocean.
But soon Ao'nung felt his throat constrict, he knew that they needed to return to the surface for air, so he grabbed his sister's hand and squeezed it. She seemed to get the same feeling as him and simultaneously their eyes shifted to you. You returned a curious look and offered a smile. “Do you need to go? Are you supposed to be somewhere else?” You questioned with a joking tone in your voice.
Their eyes only turned sad; they had to leave you. Leaning close to you they hugged you tightly; not ever wanting to let go. They whispered “I love you” while pressing their faces into your chest; getting as close as possible one last time. You chuckled and returned “I love you two as well. You know that right? No need to be upset…” They didn’t respond, only trying to stay with you for a few more moments.
Ao'nung opened his eyes and you were gone; he was back underwater, in dire need of air. He looked over to his sister and saw that sadness has struck her face once again. He held onto her smaller hand and undid the bond. She did the same and they floated up together. Both of them took a deep breath once they reached the surface, air filling their lungs.
Just breathing for a few minutes, they stared up into the sky. The stars flickered brighter than ever it seemed, with no clouds hiding them. They decided to stick around a little bit and continue looking at the stars. Swimming over to the little rock shore took a few minutes but as they sat on the small smoothed down rocks, it was worth it; truly a beautiful sight.
Peace and quiet filled the air, calming the troubled young souls as they stared into the sky. “Ao'nung… thanks for taking me with you…” Tsireya whispered, turning her head to look at him. He looked back “Thanks for coming with me” he whispered while smiling.
Just as they were about to call out for Ilus Ao'nung spotted something traveling through the waves. He instantly grabbed his sister and pushed her down, accidentally making her swallow water. She was just about to jell at him when he shook his head and had a panicked look on his face; she stayed silent and searched for the thing he’d seen.
As the figure came closer it seemed to take the shape of a person riding a tsurak. Who else would come out here this late? The two of them stayed hidden and continued watching. The animal came to a stop just in front of the spirit tree and the figure dove under.
Not being able to see from the surface the two teenagers also stuck their heads underwater to try and find out who it was. The certainty didn’t expect to see their father on his way to the tree. Had he found out that the two of them snuck away? How did he find out that they were here?
But it seemed like he wasn’t looking for anything. We just raised his queue, making the bond with a leaf. The two siblings shot each other a confused look, wondering what he could be doing when Tsireya suddenly realized. «I think… I think he’s here to see Mom… just like us» she signed underwater. Ao'nung’s face scrunched in realization; of course, he was here to do that.
Another thing crossed his mind «We need to go back to the village,» he signed «before he does, or else we’ll be in a lot of trouble» Tsireya agreed and they quietly called for their ilus, hoping that their father wouldn’t realize. They got on and started to ride away when they looked back one more time. Even though they couldn’t see their father's face, they could tell that he was grieving, noticing how his body tensed up unnaturally and he clenched his fists. The two felt bad for him; they’d try to comfort him tomorrow.
With that, they sped off back to the village.

Dear Watcher....
This is going to be about the youtube channel Watcher and a recent video that they released earlier today, so if you dont watch the channel, or older content produced by Ryan, Shane and Steven at Buzzfeed, this is not going to make sense to you. This only going to be for those who are a fan of Watcher, or are fans of Buzzfeed Unsolved so if you are, that's great!
Earlier today, I got a video notifcation from the channel titled, "goodbye youtube", and it was definitely not something I wanted to see. There is a recent trend this year of youtubers retiring or taking a break this year and I was scared this was that scenario. And it kind of was but way worse. Basically, the guys over at Watcher are going to be posting on their new streaming service called....Watcher. And, no, it is not a late April Fools joke, that's actually what their doing. Initially, I was in a state of shock after I watched through the entire video. I, no joke, went through the 5 stages of grief upon viewing this announcement and was thrown through a loop to where I struggled to focus on sketching one of my comic pages. So much so that I actually made a deviant blog post about it the moment I finished watching the video (most of the content from this post will be copied and pasted from that blog so declaimer I guess). After having some time to absorb this information, I have to say that Im really disappointed with the guys over at Watcher. Like Im not mad to where Im completely done with their content but.......WHY!?
I think at this point in time that a lot of people, myself included, are burnout with the whole streaming boom we've had for the past 5 years in no part thanks to those greedy bastards at Disney....but thats another story. I miss the days when there were only 2 to 3 main streaming services and not 5 billion other services that you need to buy in order to watch a show you like that was on Netflix but it now locked behind a pay wall. Streaming services used by a novelty concept but are now not looked upon in the best light. So for the them to announce a streaming service now is definitely a bad look, especially because the content before was free to access. I feel like creators will always have an uphill battle when it comes to content that was initially free being locked behind a paywall, because you're potentially isolating your audience and bringing up the question of weather your audience if loyal enough to give you money to enjoy your content. Now, like I said, I love and respect the people at Watcher, but I dont know if I'm willing to take money out of my wallet to watch the next season of Ghost Files. Especially in this economy, where in some parts of the country a big mac now costs 20 fucking dollars, and with inflation going out of control.
Now its not like I don't understand why they're doing this. Ever since its founding in 2019, Watcher has always had troubles with money, with most of their shows not being profitable enough to make ends meet (I know that sounds bs because most of their vidoes get millions of views but this is coming from one of the founders Steven, in an update video from a while ago so idk, views probably mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things). And the fact that they started around the pandemic didn't help things either. Unlike Buzzfeed, Watcher is a much smaller company so any loss that happens is felt much more than if it was a larger one. In the video itself, they mentioned that most of their money came through youtube ads and sponsorships, which, while alright if you're an independent creator, may not be enough for a company. And then there's the fact that YouTube can remove or demonetize videos out of nowhere and for the dumbest reasons so its not a very stable sight to base your income off of. So I can understand why they felt moving on from YouTube was a good idea. But..........I think there were better ways of going about it than creating their own fucking streaming service. Like, in one of their update vidoes, they said most of their shows werent making ends meet so maybe cutting back on the production of said shows to make them not as expensive to produce would be a good solution. In their announcement vid, they talked about wanting to maintain their high production value for their shows without going under but (and I dont mean this to slight them) I dont think they understand why they popped off in the first place. For me, Im not watching Ghost Files or Mystery Files for high production value and fancy graphics, Im there for Ryan and Shane. Same reason I loved Buzzfeed Unsolved, which compared to those shows is much more bare bones. I get wanting to step up your production value from what you had at Buzzfeed but if you have budget out in certain places which would entail having a season that doesnt look as good as the previous season, that's completely fine. Im sure me and the rest of fans wouldn't have minded a downgrade because at the end of the day, the fancy sets and graphics are window dressing to why we're truly watching.
I also thinking letting us know ahead of time would've possibly softened the blow. Watcher is in a very interesting situation because there's a much closer relationship between them and their customer base as opposed to traditional companies. So they really could've been like "hey! We're thinking about having future content be on our own streaming service because doing business through YouTube is fucking us over. What do you guys think?". One explanation as to why they waited until now instead of a few months ago when this idea was sparked could've been because they knew they would get backlash and they were going ahead with the streaming service idea regardless of fan input, which might be the reason. But if that's the case, they probably would've had the comments and likes disabled from the start. Right before I started typing this, I checked the video to see if the comments were disabled and they are thankfully still there. Im someone who always wants to see the good in people (which is definitely a character flaw of mine and while defiently lead to me being at the end of an abusive relationship........another abusive relationship but lets not go there), so I think this might be the case of Ryan, Shane and Steven, thinking the streaming service was a good idea and not reading the room properly.
At this point, Im hoping that they dont do things that could make this situation 10 times worse: a) removing the existing content (Mystery Files, Puppet History, etc) off the youtube channel and having it on their streaming service. If you are going to have new seasons of those shows behind a paywall, at least have that content still up for those who want to support but cant purchase the service......b) respond to the critism in a negative way. I think things would be made worse if they lumped genuine fans who are concerned with the new direction with the trolls and haters, and double down on this new direction. Im hoping this situation ends up being a slip up that they can learn from and not being the beginning of the downfall of the Watcher gang. No joke, I think Ryan and Shane are the only youtubers who have avoided any sort of drama up to now. Youtubers I once respected over the years from Tobuscus to Leafyishere to H3H3 to Idubbz to even fucking Dream have all fell from grace in one way or another, and Im hoping the ghoul boys dont join that list....

alright, since some of you seem to agree with my thoughts, i think i'll elaborate a bit
sweeney todd's autism diagnosis
this might be a bit lengthy so ill spare you the scroll if youre not interested.
stiff movements (this isnt really a dancer's role)
lack of expression, tends to look either sad or angry most of the time. could just be the trauma tho
weird stilted way of speaking (hearn specific)
generally quiet and reserved outside of emotional outbursts (again, trauma)
strong sense of justice - "at the top of the hole sit the privileged few making mock of the vermin in the lower zoo"
entirely fixated on razors when reacquiring them, completely oblivious to mrs lovett talking about her massive crush on him
doesnt know what to do with his hands when not holding anything - "at last, my arm is complete again!"
[shaving contest /w pirelli and aftermath]
doesnt bother with any flash or flair, gets straight to work and gets the job done
becomes agitated and paces when expecting the beadle to arrive at his barber shop but doesnt know when (gotta have a schedule)
[epiphany]
if this isnt a textbook meltdown idk what is
mood swings (man goes through every stage of grief twice in the span of 3 minutes)
lashing out - "alright! you sir! how about a shave?"
mrs lovett trying to calm him down just upsets him even more
[a little priest]
doesnt understand what mrs lovett's hints at at first
asks what unfamiliar food is before trying it, as if hes hesitant to try new things
definitely an odd sense of humor
wordplay. so much wordplay.
more tactile stimming, this time with suspenders (hearn)
[god thats good]
upset because the package he was told would arrive by 5:45 is 15 minutes late (his SCHEDULE is RUINED)
once the chair arrives, becomes agitated when he cant get mrs lovett to stay and watch him open it (PLEASE let me share my interests!!!!)
once again calling for lovett's attention, this time to set up a system of communication. he just really wants to make sure she isnt missing his cues
[by the sea]
several minutes of sweeney being completely absorbed in his own thoughts while giving half-assed responses to at least pretend like he heard any of that nonsense
[wigmaker sequence]
time to infodump
possible echolalia? - "the madhouse? the madhouse!"
[finale]
upset that he now has to go find toby when hes expecting the judge to arrive soon (the schedule!)
doesnt seem to be aware of how threatening he sounds while calling for the kid
after killing the judge, suddenly remembers he was supposed to catch toby and runs out only to realize he didnt grab his razor (only has enough working memory for one task at a time)
im sure there are other details i missed, especially since everyone's performance is different, so feel free to add on

SPIDERMAN THEORIES (spoilers)
alright nerds listen up
i've been way too invested in atsv and it's been occupying every part of my brain so I'm going to rant about the few theories i have about this.
To start from the beginning, i think everyone is stupid /j i love everyone and all the characters are beautifully written
hOwEvEr here is a short summary of what my thoughts are
miguel is in the wrong
the canon isn't real
miles isn't an anomoly/the canon is going as planned
spot is the cause of everything + his own downfall
again these are my theories, so none of this is like.. confirmed
im just brain dumping :3
time to explain ig
Miguel is basically in the wrong
listen, we all love Miguel and his absolute babygirl dilf energy, but here is the issue. Miguel is too focused on keeping the multiverse stable only because of what had happened to him in the other universe where he had a family. In his mind, he is completely zeroed in on making sure no one makes the same mistake he made, which leads to him making decisions that not everyone likes, and he doesn't either.
Miguel is driven by his grief to make sure that the canon stays together. I'm not justifying his actions, but he has a point in wanting to keep people from experiencing the grief he had to encounter.. however, he is basically blindly following this idea of what the canon is. No one fully knows how it works yet, and the idea that the canon is set in stone doesn't entirely make sense. loopholes yippe.
Miguel has convinced everyone about this idea of what the canon is. it's supposedly a perfect idea of everything following a very strict plot line, which.. think about it. Every spider is different, has their own experiences (although sharing some), everyone is uniqe. Not everyone has the same name, not everyone has the same family, not everyone lives in the same place. It makes sense that the canon is a loose flow, but it isn't as strict as miguel makes it seem. All of this leads into my next point
The canon isn't real/Miles isn't an anomoly
Maybe it is real and im just exaggerating, but hear me out. Miguel is saying that the canon is what holds everything together and makes all the spider people conneted, but there are a few loopholes here.
Miguel talks about his experience with messing with the canon and how it destoryed a universe, but how do we know that isn't canon for his own story? Maybe him finding another universe and disrupting that was part of his canon story... wooo theories
Miguel and Lyla created this idea of canon, of every spider story following a semi-flow of what makes someone spiderman. Losing an uncle or a captain dying, it does make sense... but doesn't.
sure, there is a good bit of coincidence, but consider this. Spot brought the spider from Earth-42 and it bit Miles, making Miles a supposed "anomoly". But,, if Miles is an anomoly, why hasn't his universe OR Earth-42 fallen or been destroyed? eXpLAiN tHaT MigUeL.
But seriously, why haven't either fallen apart?? Because this is his canon. Miles getting bit, his peter parker dying, Miles stopping Kingpin. It is all of Miles' canon! This is Miles' story, this is how he became spiderman, this is all canon, it's detremental to his own personal plot.
Miguel wants to stop Miles from destorying other universes like he had once done, but Miles never destroyed a single one!! He is proving Miguel's theory wrong with his own existance!!
Miles did not create the hole in Pav's dimension with the canon disruption, that was all Spot. Jess mentioned something about them having to do this before, maybe they were cleaning up after Spot after he visited other Alchemexes (?) for his own power benefit. The hole was bigger this time because Spot had become more powerful.
Spot is the original problem
Spot is the real issue,, that's it. yes, i love him so much he is so silly and goofy, but he is causing his own problems.
He brought the spider from the other universe that bit Miles, which caused the whole you know bam bop now he is the Spot. Spot is determined to take everything away from Miles, just as he had done... but Spot created Miles, who (out of his control) created The Spot apparently.
Now Spot is blaming Miles for his downfall and has become his villain, Miguel is blaming Miles while straight up ignoring Spot being the cause of all of this, and Miles is just... Miles, he did nothing wrong Miles was just a teenager chillin with his epic uncle before he got bit by that dumb spider, being thrown into being the start of everyone's problems.
In the end, i believe that Miles was meant to be spiderman, Miguel's theory of canon is only half right, and Spot is driven by a false motive because of his own actions :D
im so sorry to whoever read all of that but i hope i at least got my point across??
All of this is a complete theory and if you have anything to go against these, i wanna hear it! i wanna perfect my theories MUAHAHA

Chapter 14: Wasteland
As the team walked ahead, Strife glanced back at the undamaged city. He hoped the vice president would keep the city whole, unlike the former president in his time. So much was up in the air. So much was unknown. So much could be turned on them by Sephiroth. They- no- he needed to be careful, especially with the triplets around his old team.
The wasteland before stood empty in the smog of the morning sun, save for the packs of monsters struggling to make the dying land their home. No chocobos, no grass, and- worst of all- no transportation.
It was a long walk to Kalm. It wasn't like Genesis could fly them one by one without Shinra's notice. They ran out of fuel not long into their journey, abandoning their getaway vehicles behind cliffs on the side of the road. They hoped to at least try to hitchhike, even if half of them needed to remain behind due to the size of their party.
For now, keeping monsters off the road was their top priority. Though they usually split into teams of three, they all pitched into the battles. Bandits, wolves, elfadunks. The size nor number of fiends did not matter. Aerith casted domes around enemies, and Tifa would unleash hell within. Barret and Red slashed and fired together as one. Even Strife and Genesis found themselves in perfect sync, taking down monsters with ease. Sometimes even Sephiroth's remnants would join the fight, working beautifully together with a perfect combination of close combat and marksmanship.
Outside of battle was a different story.
“Ha! I found fire materia!” Loz would shout victoriously, holding the green orb in the air.
“It's not that special…” Yazoo countered, rotating a blue one of his own. “It’s newly born… It doesn’t have any useful spells yet…”
“Well I can fight with mine. You need a weapon to fight with yours! Mine’s better on its own!” He countered.
“Are you sure about that…?”
“Yeah! And another materia!” Suddenly the blue orb flew through the air and smacked him in the head. “Hey! That's cheating!”
“Is not… it technically can be fought with…” Yazoo grew a small smirk.
Loz threw it back. His younger brother caught the weapon.
“Okay, that's enough of that.” Tifa stepped in and took both materia away.
“Hey! Give it back!”
“You'll get one when you're responsible enough to stop treating them like rocks.” Oh no. She saw the looks in their eyes. “Do not start throwing rocks at each other.”
Yazoo looked offended. “We would never do such a thing…”
“We're not that young.” The brothers looked at each other, paused, then grumbled, turning away.
Okay, good, they weren't going to attack each other.
“You two be nice, alright?”
“Yes, Miss Aerith,” they spoke in unison. Aerith giggled a bit and they both couldn't hide the blushing pout from her joy.
Strife found himself silent in moments like these, moments where pieces of his worst enemy truly acted like innocent children. He knew what they were capable of, what they had done to reach Jenova, yet before him stood true children, a nearly human side he had never seen before and did not believe for a minute. Luckily, these moments were scattered between the journey and the remnant’s grief.
In battle, only one member did not team up: Cloud, the odd one from this new time. He fought about as well as Strife expected, but there was no teamwork, no raising anyone else up, no attack that could clearly help them all. Kadaj, still unable to fight, would wait at a safe distance until the battle was over and then glued himself back to Cloud.
Cloud never sent the injured boy away. Kadaj clung to his leg every second they were out of battle, always keeping at least one hand on the ex-SOLDIER. Cloud gifted him with the occasional head pat, but the boy only squeezed in response.
“Ya know, even the, it's nice to be outta the city. Come on, breathe the fresh air with me,” Barret made a show, exaggerating his inhale and exhale. All but Kadaj followed his lead.
“Still not perfect,” Strife commented.
“Certainly not,” Red added. “We'll have to leave the continent for fresh air at this rate.”
“It'll be easier when we reach the Grasslands.”
“When I was young, we used to spend the last day of missions in the Grasslands trying to catch a chocobo,” Genesis brushed some dust off his shoulders, “since that land is much more inhabitable than this man-made desert.”
Aerith glanced away, observing the desolate land before them, trying to remember what it once was.
“Oh, I meant to ask, Genesis. How's your back?” Tifa stepped next to the former First.
“No issues here. Why?”
“Well, I was wondering, how does flying affect your body?” She gestured to the open tear on the back of his coat.
Loz and Yazoo perked up, all of a sudden surrounding the tall man.
He tilted his head from side to side. “Well, it's… how do I put this… physically, when I disperse my wing into my body, the soreness of my wing goes with it. However it is incredibly annoying if not preened properly properly.”
“How?” Loz chirped in.
“It's difficult to describe. Ruffled feathers seem heavier. Alone my wing feels like nothing, but after rough flying, it's a massive weight on my shoulder. It's easier to hide it away now and deal with it when we're in the clear.”
“We are in the clear…” Yazoo mentioned.
Genesis shook his head. “Red can get away with being your average dog if he doesn't speak. I can't exactly convince anyone I come in peace when I have new limbs visible miles away.”
“Oo! Can I help you preen?” Aerith raised her hand like an excited student.
“Excuse me?”
“Well, it must be hard getting to those back feathers. Can I help?”
“Bring a mask. He sheds everywhere.” Barret brushed off his clothes, a tiny black feather falling from a seam. “I'm still pulling them out of places they do not belong.”
Red sneezed. Everyone around the Red Mage of Shinra laughed.
Strife… missed this. Really missed this. In his time, there was too much at stake to afford time around his team. The disease on his arm was top priority. Not for him, but for the child he cared for who simply did not have enough time left. He felt he deserved it, like it was his punishment for what he did.
He prayed his team was okay. That somehow the change in time protected them, cured them. With each memory, he glared at the children, especially the silent one at his younger self’s side that got more than it deserved after puppeteering the children of Edge. Though he normally never wished Hojo on his worst enemy, it seemed fitting in his eyes.
A gloved hand blocked his view of the boy and his eyes followed it to Cloud.
His younger self shook his head with a glare. Had he been staring at the boy?
Kadaj buried his face in Cloud's baggy pants, his broken sobs returning. Both of his brothers appeared at his sides. Yazoo rubbed his back soothingly. Loz tried to give him a new materia to try, but he swatted them both away.
“Brother, please… talk to us…” Yazoo requested, but his brother shook his head violently.
“Big Brother, can you-?”
“No, Loz. He'll talk when he's ready. Why don't you try to find an item enhancement materia so we can heal him faster? How about that?” They both nodded at Cloud before running to the head of the pack. Cloud knelt down and hugged the boy, letting fresh tears disappear into his sweater.
Strife kept his mouth shut and his eyes forward.
* * *
Not a single car drove by the pack, not even the chocobo truck from Strife's time. They weren’t going to make it to Kalm that day or even that night at their current rate. With the beginning of twilight, Cloud made a decree.
“We'll rest for the night and get back on the road tomorrow. As long as we cover Red's tail, no one should find us.”
“Do you think we can find a cave?” The woman in pink asked.
“We'll have better luck looking for a small cliff. It should be enough to hide us from the road.”
Thus the group left the asphalt path, settling down with a small magic fire and cooking the edible spoils of their battles that day. The fire went out the moment their meal was ready. Barret made Red a small tent of rocks for the beast's glowing tail.
Aerith watched with eyes wide both in amazement and fear, the sky above open to millions of stars but the small land before her holding friends and her first ever camping trip. Upon voicing this simple fact, she was immediately bombarded by Barret and Red sharing stories and activities they should do before heading to Kalm.
“Though these aren't the best circumstances, I find true campfires much calmer than magic ones,” the marked beast explained.
“Really?” Aerith's head tilted. “Why?”
“You can't beat the smell. And the flames move differently in a real fire. Naturally. With the wind.”
“What about smoke?”
“If you gather a bunch of leaves, you can make a huge smoke cloud and watch it go poof,” Barret exaggerated, his arms expanding to visualize the concept.
“Wouldn't that hurt your eyes?”
“Not if you step back!” The three of them laughed, sharing stories and smiling until nightfall.
“I’ll keep watch,” Red stated, but Genesis cut him off.
“I’ll keep watch, if Aerith’s willing to make good on her offer.”
It took a second before Aerith gasped in excitement. “Do you mean your wing?!”
“It’s not as easy as it seems, but if you’re still willing to try-”
“Yes!”
“Can I help?”
Genesis was shocked to see the eldest of the silver boys approach curiously. How could he say no to a piece of the friend he ruined? “Be very gentle.”
The boy nodded. Taking the confirmation, the former First revealed his black wing. Aerith and the boy were on him in a second, both trying to rush ahead before the redhead could even explain or demonstrate how preening actually worked.
Yazoo simply watched the circus of the wing and the conversation between the one armed father as he leaned against a small cliff, one hand kept on Mother’s nameplate. He could see and hear everyone clearly, and he noticed Tifa approach the younger blond.
“Hey.”
Cloud turned immediately. “Hey.”
Tifa sat next to him, resting her arms on her knees. “How’s he doing?”
He glanced down at the boy asleep beside him, his hand trapped under silver hair. “Better. He’s almost completely healed. And you know the drill: lots of cures means lots of sleep. Honestly, he could fight if he wasn’t so…” He sighed, not knowing how to finish.
“He’s a tough one. He’ll bounce back. Between Hojo and that creature…”
“Yeah.”
“How are you holding up?”
“Nothing I can’t handle.”
“You know you can always talk to me, right?”
“Never been much of a talker. But you know I’ll always listen, right?” His counter made her smile softly, her ruby eyes twinkling with the stars.
“I’ll hold you to that.”
Cloud glanced away, looking down at the boy using his free hand as a pillow. He couldn't leave without waking the child, even if their conversation was clearly over.
Genesis's voice broke the moment, “Do not yank them out!”
“Sorry!” The boy apologized immediately, his hand marred with a clump of small feathers and drops of blood. “I didn't mean to! I thought it was safe…”
“You have to untie them. It's not like brushing hair,” Aerith explained, moving her hands through the feathers. “Here, watch. See the knot? Now find where the feathers came from, then their ends. Be careful. Be gentle.”
Strife scoffed under his breath. No one else acknowledged it, but Yazoo did, watching his true Big Brother. He had seen it enough times, Big Brother's hatred and caution around them despite their reduced age and strength. The constant glares. The kindness to his old teammates never shared with his brothers. The anger every time they dared speak to any member of his old team.
Yazoo glanced around at all of their group and at the landscape before him. Something clicked. Midgar against the sky, the curve of the hills and dips of the wasteland, even the location of the plants.
He had been here before.
The middle brother stood, leaving the plate behind, and slowly approached the blond in black. The man noticed him immediately, adjusting the blades in the holster. Yazoo held his hands up in surrender. “There’s something I want to test… It won’t take long… Walk with me…”
Strife glared for a moment before checking on everyone else. His younger self and Tifa were laying down, staring at the stars. They wouldn’t notice if they left. “Don’t try anything stupid. And no sudden movements.”
Yazoo nodded before leading the way, deliberately keeping his hands in True Big Brother’s sight.
Once they could no longer see the team, Strife took out a blade. “Where are we going?”
“If I remember correctly, it's around the next cliff…”
“What is?”
Instead of answering, Yazoo went ahead to confirm. “It's right here.” He gestured. “Take a look.”
Strife followed, walking ahead until the targeted object was in view. He nearly snapped the boy's neck.
It was Zack's body. Zack Fair. From Gongaga. Former First Class. No one would recognize it the way it was now, no soulful blue eyes, no muscles worthy of SOLDIER, no spiky hair frilled like a mane. His body was torn by scavengers, most of which returned to dens and nests before nightfall. His hand was broken deliberately, fingers and knuckles forced in unnatural directions.
“Why?” Strife spat, offering no further prompt.
“This is where my brothers and I arrived… I hoped something would happen when you came here… Something that…-” He shook his head, destroying the thought attempting to leave his mouth. Something that would take them out of this horrible world. Something that would bring them all home, even if they were fated to lose. “Never mind… It’s pointless now…”
“So you make me look at the dead body of my friend?” His mako gaze burned.
“I swear, I did not think of it…”
“Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now.”
Yazoo looked down, sorrowful and aloof. “...The other you protects us… Just as we protected him…”
Strife didn't want to see the body but the realization hit him like a truck. Cloud protected the remnants because Zack couldn't pass on his legacy. They became his reason for living.
“We can bury him… if that would help…”
He couldn’t hide the shocked anger at the suggestion alone.
Yazoo turned away. “I’ll head back then…” Without another word from his true big brother, he walked away, returning to the group and leaving the wolf behind.

Dino: Everyone, thanks for all the cheers! I won’t lose today's battle no matter what!
Reporter: “Paired up with the youngest of the four, and packed with potential, Leonard Wright Junior!”
Tumblr media
Junior: Hehe, I’ll show ya my playstyle★
Reporter:  “The other players against them are---”
Reporter: “The self-indulgent hero Keith Max! Although lately he’s been hosting a cooking show, and he’s rumored to be a man that gets the job done when he has to!”
Reporter: “Show us how you’re part of the Miracle Trio!”
Tumblr media
Keith: Aah~ don’t go getting yer hopes up for me. Ain’t gonna lose this fight though.
Reporter: “Paired up with, the one whose looks are enough to heat up the venue… looking cool as ever! Faith Beams!”
Tumblr media
Faith: Aha, those are some amazing cheers. I’ll do my best, in moderation♪
Reporter: “Teams, take your weapons and move to your assigned positions!”
Reporter: “The rules are simple, cover the stage in ink during the allotted time, and secure the encampment. The team with the most ground covered will win!”
Faith: Alright, we act as planned. Keith
Keith: Yeah
Dino: Junior, I’lll leave Faith to you
Junior: Yeah. If we take him out it’ll be harder for Keith to get around
Dino: Most likely. I think tearing down Faith’s strategy will be our road to victory
Reporter: “Now then, ready?”
Reporter: “Go!”
Junior: First I’ll have to find that shitty DJ---
Junior: Woah!?
Faith: Aha, you’re full of openings, Ochibi-chan
Junior: Damn you, stay put!
Tumblr media
Faith: No way♪
Junior: Ooaah!?
Junior: FUCK!! You bastard, ain’tcha enjoying yourself too much now!!!!
Junior: Goddamnit------! Gonna bring you down as if my life depends on it!
Reporter: “Both teams are securing the encampments with ink! While using the gimmicks and skillfully moving around, we have Faith Beams!”
Reporter: “He has adapted to the game, and the way he plays is akin to an expert, what a brilliant performance!”
Junior: Grrrr…! Fight fair and square you shitty DJ!!
Dino: “Junior, calm down! Faith’s more used to playing than I thought he would be”
Junior: I know how to play the game too….
Junior: I’ll try using these gimmicks too! I’ll drive him into a corner like Gray had taught me to before!
Dino: “Got it. Don’t overdo it”
-
Keith: (Haven’t run into Dino so far… can’t be careless though)
Faith: “Keith, are you sticking to the plan?”
Keith: Yeah, I am I am. How’s it over there?
Faith: “I’m in a bit of a pinch. Ochibi-chan’s coming at me with gimmicks now.”
Keith: Oi oi, ya good?
Faith: “Hmmm~ I haven’t closed up on Dino yet. I wanna keep an eye out just for a little longer, can I leave it up to you, Keith?
Keith: Good grief… Well, gotta fight him anyway. I’ll bring ‘im down by my own hands
Faith: “Good luck. It’ll be our win as long as we stop Dino.”
Reporter: “The battle is getting more and more heated up!! Both teams have seemingly gone on the offense!”
Reporter: “Dino Albani, who has been sticking with securing the encampment, is finally on the move!”
Reporter: “And on the other side Keith Max had suddenly changed the way he was acting a few moments ago!!”
Dino: It’s on, Keith!
Tumblr media
Reporter: “Dino Albani has gotten a hold of Keith Max!”
Keith: Spared me the trouble of searching for ya…
Keith: Bring it on, Dino!!
Dino: Haaaaaaaaaah!!!!
Keith: ….!!
Reporter: “Both are locked into a heated exchange of shots head-on! Who will come out unscathed….!?”

Its so cool that you're doing the dvd commentary ask meme!! Im really curious about chapter 4 of fallow fields (and all the other chapters too but especially that one ;-; )
chapter 4 of fallow fields, lol. I wonder why.
Alright, let's start from the top.
So my first mistake was openly declaring that Seiko and Kakashi's birthday is only a week apart, making every chapter after this much harder to fudge dates on due to the fact that they need to almost always be four years apart instead of the /1 week/ where they are five years a part. terrible idea and I should not have done this, no matter how well it worked for this one chapter. learn from my mistakes: do not do this.
so the big thing about this chapter is that "this is the chapter where sakumo dies". of course. so im writing everything with the understanding that this is the last time we're ever going to see him. he'll be haunting his kids, of course, but this is his last chance to be alive. and he knows it, too. since he, more than anyone, knows "this is the chapter where sakumo dies". he's already decided to die before the chapter opens up. that's why he's quiet, peaceful, and happy.
he wants his kids to have good memories. that's important to him, in a hypocritcal way. he wants kakashi to have a birthday party. he'd have thrown one for seiko if she'd let him, but she won't.
he feels immensely guilty over seiko, because he feels that he has let her down by failing to protect her from harm. if only he'd taught her better, maybe she would have not gotten so injured-- if only his enemies had not targeted her, she would have been fine. He also thinks that she's too mature, that she grew up too fast, that the girl he raised is gone and instead he's got a ninja who he can't even relate to through training. sad!
Hoheto's in this chapter. he's very important for the story, so whenever seiko has a "turning point chapter", its necessary for us to check in with him and see how her reflection is doing. cute
Kakashi and Seiko have a cute familial moment, and you have to understand-- their father is dead already during this convo. the worst has happened. they just dont know it yet. Their arguing over uniform size because I wanted to emphasize how small and young kakashi was, and i bring up seiko's wrist pain to emphasize how fragile she is.
this is so it will hurt more.
lol.
the death is off screen because i feel having on screen suicide can be immensely tacky.
anyway, we immediately timeskip to the next morning. Seiko has gone to work. in world she has gone to work because it didn't occur to her not to: out world she has gone to work so that ensui can accompany her. i like ensui, and the next few chapters are going to be showing whats left of her saftey net now that her dads dead, so its overhwemingly important that we see him now, when she needs him most.
ensui is not great at grief, but he's responsible enough to try. which is sweet of him.
asuma! to me asuma is like the calendar of the world. everytime we see him hes in a new stage of his life, so you get to be like Oh my god. time. its passing. that's so scary. and also he's dead in canon so your like wow all of that and hes fucked.
kakashi telling seiko he's moving out. yeah. not like this is something thats going to haunt him for the rest of his life. its understandable why he did it but was it responsible? but at the same time, its not his job to be responsible. hes 6
duy < 3 i always intended the chapter to end here because i really didn't want this to be THE ANGST CHAPTER. like. thats why sakumo dies in the middle. so im not ending on it like its a cliffhanger.
"im so sorry, seiko". no one else is ever going to cry for sakumo, ever going to apologize to her for how bad this part of her life is. except for him.
ah, and might gai. he's young. but hes truly the best that konoha will ever have. and i wanted to emphasize that seiko...
her disabilities are severe. if she didn't have someone like gai she would struggle horribly. because unlike what sakumo belived, her life without him is /worse/.

hi em! 25, 50 and 75 for the fanfiction writer asks thing (: hope you have a good day!
HI!!!! thank you so much for talking to me, its very lonely over here lmao
alright onto the questions
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?
my fav part of the writing process has to be getting ready to write lol, I get a little beverage (coffee or Diet Coke), get all dressed up, and then loiter in a coffee shop for hours and type on my little computer. I also like brainstorming tbh, but that kinda looks like me being up at 3am and like typing absolutely feral things in my notes app. it'll be like, three absolutely feral sentences and then I have to write around that because there are things I want to include and I HAVE to include lol. either that or ill see an idea on TikTok and then ask the creator if I can write it (and then get like a bajillion comments asking me when it's done and like, I have a job and a life and its been two days????), or like, reading a fic and being like, I like that angst, I should write angst but around something different but make angst all the same lol. so make that short sweet and simple, I like sitting down and writing, or brainstorming.
50. How would you describe your writing style?
kinda just, what goes on in my brain, like I would describe it as my shit ideas and then adding words to it. I add a lot of descriptive words and my writing tends to be more wordy and very emotion centered. it used to be more run on sentences, but like, ive learned to shorten them etc, yk? I hope u get what im saying lol.
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn’t expect?
I mean, I expected a lot of people to gravitate towards my lesbian wolf star smut but like, in the time of like, 10 days, the forbidden forest one is like, really popping off. the rest of the lesbian wolfstar smut still has the most hits out of all the rest of my works (low-key making me cry bc like, ive had to delete some choice comments and questions, and also like, I don't want TikTok to see it bc I know something will go wrong and I will start putting more pressure on myself, and also like, the rest of my works just get overlooked for the porn when that's like, half of what I write, the rest is an exploration of trauma and grief etc), but essentially its the forbidden forest fic lol. like it was expected that it would pop off but also like, not as much as it did.
anyhoo!! thank you sm for interacting with me, your girl's a little lonely in her childhood home lmao. have a wahoo!!

alright. figure i'll make this post before im getting got by the sadness too hard,,, also bc it'll be past midnight by the time i'm done typing this up which will put it into proper anniversary territory so,, weird long crypost just bear with me i have 2 do this for myself ;;
i care ocs. if you know anything abt me it's probably that. im only alive bc of writing it's the only thing that makes life bearable and that's why i stick around. and in 2013, i happened to pick up art bc if i'm not gonna draw my ocs who will. that was five years into oc verse even if i didn't conceptualize it as such yet & alrdy a year into the profoundly normal era that continues to this day known as [still not calm abt sky plot] i cannot elaborate. if you know u know. enter the night. iykyk etc. i was not normal abt it when this song freshly delivered an entire new (and first proper,) au/canon divergence into my brain exactly 10 years ago >>>
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
& i have been extremely not normal wormed eeled yelling losing it etc every single hyperobsessed verb you can think of abt this story corner and this song for ten freaking years. baby me had only been drawing for a couple of months and was given an entire psychic vision for a lyricstuck/songdraw however u wanna call it in current vernacular. the full five minute song. i've written that corner ofc but just like the shape of tge is screenplay i know the shape of this has to be a full animation. im ngl with you when i say the main reason i have wanted to improve at art at any point was so i could animate this one day. nd i was content just drawing whatever i want and not slaving away at this project until i felt i could tackle it. and then 2022 happened and broke me and when i was in the hospital with that stupid ass heart issue i was terrified i'd die without ever seeing this through. and so i swore that after thesis, come november, i'd fully dedicate myself to art improvement so that for the 10yr anniversary in late september 2023 i'd have a version of it. even if it's sucky even if it's janky ofc it would never have been the full cinematic animation (not yet) rough animatic, even static lyric panels just set to the music, whatever. just have a version of it. it's what got me through thesis, in the end. and you know how this story ends
my wrist exploded (rsis what ever we are sticking with the meme)
tbh i was holding out hope until a few months ago. bc one evening in late 2020 [*holds a moment of wistful silence*] i got possessed and thumbnailed 80% of the thing (minus the 1min sequence of three different fight scenes. problem for future future me) so maybe if i just compiled those to the song n sketched over it doing one panel a day............. but it just wasn't possible. i have to rest my wrist and rushing thru a bad grief-sticken rendition of this project and probably ruining my wrist for good in the process just isn't worth it. so as nice as it would have been to have even the most rudimentary version to post on the 10 year anniversary of arguably the thing that changed my life and made me want to live and write and draw and improve forever, it's not happening. we are here and i cannot tell when i'll ever be able to draw again so all i can do is look through those thumbnails from 2020, and dream,,,,,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
maybe 2024, boys. maybe 2024.......... time is fake & clean anniversaries are overrated anyways u,______,u
