Diaspora Jew, staring out into the distance : things are just... rough right now. Really rough with antisemitism. We will get through it, but.. geez.
Israeli, flipping out of a tree : oh no!! That is horrible! But have you considered where this does not happen? Rhymes with Fisrael, Zisrael...
Diaspora Jew : ... Ploni Almoni, you run from rockets on a regular basis.
Israeli : Yes. Keeps you in shape ^_^ I can sprint many meters in ten seconds or less! And in the shelters, we have boardgames!
Diaspora Jew : there was a terrorist attack on your street a few days ago!
Israeli: Sure. But this is relevant, how?

They're elves of the shadowfell, normal human height. They specialize in teleportation and invisibility, with the casters among them throwing in confusion and fear and illusion. Be careful though, as any trained in combat start making non-elves slower and worse while within 10 feet. From depression, from the sound of it. Their angst about being more ancient and timeless than you wordlessly attaches to you like a parasite, slowing you down.
Good for if you enjoy concepts like-
Shadows, but like DARKER than shadow, that lash out when they're moody
looking beautiful unless in shadow, in which case they're corpselike
ignoring pointless things like "comfort" and "morals" and "rules"
being the chosen of the Raven Queen, and on her behalf collecting dark tragedy, sorrow, and feelings of loss.
being corpse pale with jet black hair, pure black eyes, and covered with tattoos/piercings/anything that would make a generic white suburban mom in the 50's scream in terror.
Lumping them all together because they're all the same outside one having mage hand and such. Idc what weapon they're holding.

it's like. louis attempted to tell this story to daniel the first time, broke down, and attacked him before he could finish it.
and then decades later he's convinced himself that it was leaving the story unresolved that's holding him back from living his life fully now. so he invites daniel back again. and louis is sitting poised and put together, confident in his ability to recite his history in a pretty, poignant, neat little narrative that will resolve all the guilt and yearning and emptiness inside of him. that if he can just tell a compelling, satisfying story, maybe it will actually be that, and not the life he lived through, with all the pitfalls of his own failures lurking inside.
and then season 1 ends with him once again being forced to confront that the story he wants to imagine and the life he actually lived aren't the same thing. the boundaries around his narrative are shredded and he's left exposed, and subsequently able to face his past for the first time since that original interview. and you think, you think, "well this is it. they've crossed the event horizon. there's no use hiding the truth anymore, not after it's come flooding out into the open like this"
and then season 2 opens. not only is it back to the original, practiced distance, we now have armand literally enforcing that distance. a man sitting at the table who's interjections must be disregarded, an intentional interruption to the flow of the story. he doesn't exist to aid or add detail, he exists to distract louis when he gets too deep in the story. the only time we do get louis allowing any deep truth to come out is when armand leaves the room.
it's like. louis wants a story that's true, and the truth is what he's convinced will leave him satisfied. armand wants a story that will satisfy louis, to the extent louis will accept it's true.

The many funny things that the Israeli Fellow at my Hillel has done- Part 1
Background- Hillel is the massive Jewish student organization across America where they have older 20 somethings working with college kids. "Fellows" are the people working these positions.
Content warning- if you don't like Israelis being portrayed as human beings, this post isn't for you. Bugger off and go do something else productive with your time.
Every text I get from him starts out with "Joyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and most of the time, it's because he's asking me to do work for him.
trying to recruit people to the volunteer trip to Israel he's helping out with, he beckons over to me at a Shabbat dinner. He points at me very excitedly -
"Joyyy? Joy? Any plans for this summer?"
Amos I'm not JEWISH yet!!?
randomly holds people's hands- man or woman or anything else.
He's making me learn Hebrew.
He also at the same time thinks I know Hebrew. Because he has me make posters for him and says "Hey so this is how you spell it- alef, gimmel, resh…"
I once walked late into an event where he had everyone stop what they were doing and shouted "This person! She can draw something for us!!!!"
I asked him about his military service and he said "oh yes! I was a medic at a checkpoint!"
Then I asked, a bit hesitant. "Did you.. see things?"
"Yes, yes. An old lady from Rafah had a diabetic incident once :-) . Gave her gatorade but it wasn't a good flavor."
Later he bragged that he was the best out of everyone in getting to the rocket shelter and that he still has pieces of the missile that blew up his friend's car.
He has recruited me as his official unpaid tiktok maker. It's his world and we're all living in it.
Has sighed and shaken his head- "All of you are so... pasty. Go to the sun."
gets super mad when people don't cut vegetables for his salads right
Has been adequately described by the term "A day late and a dollar short"

something I wonder about sometimes is how restoration magic actually works in tes and what medical theories healers have......
like yea trying to make video game logic work with real life logic is a nigh impossible task and I'm not a doctor or anything but it's fun to think about :D
do people have a concept of germ theory? or concepts of the four humors or miasma? can something be healed 'wrong'? is there any kind of preparation (like cleaning a wound or setting a broken bone) involved to heal something correctly? does restoration magic just speed up the process of the body's natural healing or something else entirely? does it leave any scarring?
also can spells/potions of restore fatigue be a substitute for sleeping/resting? or are they more equivalent to drinking an energy drink? do they have any fun flavours to add in restore fatigue potions?
there's so much to think about.......

I cannot believe that season. truly just. there was not a single episode I didn't sit down to without a genuine conviction that *this* would be the episode where they spit all over everything I loved about the show. I braced constantly throughout the episodes as they kept setting themselves up for Very Stupid story choices only to pull the rug and go "HAHA surprise, idiot!!! We've given you exactly what you wanted <3". until the final episode which was NOT what I wanted and also exponentially better storytelling and character development than any of the ideal scenarios I'd constructed.
something deeply meta about it all. truly a chaos season for the chaos god, where the most chaotic, unexpected, transformative thing they can do is to be good.
Spent the day processing my love for this season only to have your message sum my thoughts and feelings up perfectly, thank you so very much for sending it 💖
Same as you, not for a second did I go in truly expecting anything from s2. Owen and Mobius have my heart, always will, so primarily the show was a vehicle to provide whatever crumbs of his scenes and chemistry with Tom I could get and with the start of every episode I braced for the moment that would get ruined in some way, only to be continually hit with everything I've ever wanted in a show or pairing right up until the finale. Which, while not what I would've chosen, was beautifully crafted and an almost Shakespearean tragic romance that will haunt me for the rest of my days and is still infinitely better than the nightmare scenarios I'd been floating around in my mind so at least there's that and it's impossible not to be thankful for eps 1-5 for giving content anyone could dream of and more 😅
Besides the obvious ending, I'm mostly crushed our Loki and Mobius didn't get a proper goodbye but honestly believe Loki decided to seek out s1 Mobius instead knowing s2 Mobius loved him too much to ever let his sacrifice happen and it would've been too much to bear, so having made his mind up already he at least tried to visit a version most likely to validate his choice. Just wish the Mobius now waiting until the end of time had at least a similar opportunity, but I'm just thankful he didn't lose his memories and could make his own decision that his faith in Loki is what's carried him before and will continue to do so now.
The flip of their characterization from order or chaos is exactly what has me convinced Lokius will reunite because how can they not with such an open ended future?? Even in separation they revolve around each other and they're the only ones left wanting. Mobius and his life are in ruins with nothing but the passage of time and possibility of some spent with Loki ahead while Loki's surely going to find a way to meet halfway when the choice of order has not only made him potentially the most powerful being in existence but one who spends eternity looking at the only person who ever saw him back.
