gatekeeping this post under the cut, it got lengthy 🤧🤧

4: If you can remember, why did you start editing?

Okay, so this may be a little off topic, but it still talks about editing LMFAO but I started editing mainly cuz one day I saw Minimooberrys renders and was like WOW okay, I want to learn to do THAT and editing, so she was a MASSIVE inspiration for me to start, not only that but I also watch solitasims and lovvvvvveeeddddd her stuff, and wanted to do what she did but mix in editing :) (I think that answers the question, idk I guess like, I've always wanted to edit, but more importantly the want to learn how to render and also do storytelling in TS4 helped motivate me to start editing if that's a better answer)

5: if you caption your edits, what do you decide to put in the caption?

I tend to keep the caption relatively clean (tags are where you get my reaction and shit LMAOO), if you take Leo and Roos posts for example, they're song related, so I'll put some lyrics that I think correlate to them and the scenes placed in the post ("and then you looked right back and caught my stare"), or sometimes scenes not necessarily mentioned in the post, but can be heavily implied or just assume occur ("It's really nice to talk to you, it's really nice to hold your hands," which implies that they talk a lot and that they do hold hands a lot, whether it be romantic or platonic 🤧). There's other situations where I don't have a song (tbf the Reo posts were the first posts where I did put songs agsiabs), like the valentines day prep posts, I just put "valentines day preparations: [sim perspective]", or like in earlier NSB posts, I just put prev / next cuz idfk what to put in the caption. With more recent posts, ive been trying to caption the posts with something related to the characters (like cataleyas drowning post, where it basically lays out the metaphor for the post, which is "too much love from the wrong person").

6: give us a quick breakdown of your editing process

WOW okay, LMAOO well, I'm gonna have to whip out my laptop for this one

For Cas shots: Usually i put cas shots together, so first thing I do is import the images I want to use in a 6000 by 3000 canvas (to preface: I do all my CAS ss in the dimensions 3000 by 3000), and I usually choose from a few mental presets, two headshots and a body shot, two head shots and a half body shot, three body shots, and theres more to list but im not gonna do all that LMFAO so after that, I place them in their positions and then erase the black background (which DOES get tedious when two screenshots sorta overlap and have to make sure theres no black left around the sim), after that incredibly tedious and unnecessarily long process, sometimes I play around with flipping the character around (in the case of two head shots and one body/half body shot, I make the headshots face toward each other, so basically headshot > body shot < headshot- if that makes sense), although that can be placed anywhere in the editing process sometimes I do it earlier on or later on doesnt really matter lmao. Around this point, its just final touches, looking for weird shadows (which is USUALLY more prominent in blender renders, but it can happen), places where shadows look a little too sharp, and cleaning up those spots. For the VERY VERY final touches, I use sharpen and depending on the shot, contrast or saturation, I sometimes use the hue tool to make a certain color brighter or a different color, however I avoid the latter because it creates a weird effect on the picture, the sharpen tool is important for this part, because I tend to make the sharpen effect stronger on closer shots (head shots), or i dont change settings that much for decently faraway shots (half body shots) and i try to make full body shots to not have SUPER strong sharpen, but i tend to go on the lower end for full body shots aisuhdg

For in game screenshots: This is a bit different, so I import the screenshot that I'm using into a 3840 by 2160 canvas (the size the screenshot was taken with), depending on the shot i may add text, the font i use is Walter Turncoat (in most instances, they vary for different posts lmao), I make sure to color the text depending on whos talking or whats going on, a good example is in the catty drowning post and VDAY prep post, I dont do "[character]: [text]", i like the element of figuring out whos speaking (EVEN if it can be frustrating for me), i try not to make it too challenging to figure out, around my level of reading comprehension (/j), so like Catty is pink, calico is yellow, etc etc. I dont use as much sharpen with these shots since theyre clean as is. A lot of my shots like Gifs are pre-planned and thus is a different story, but in short I usually just edit the gif frames as usual and then put them together later. I also have a custom set of black bars to put around my screenshots bc even tho i do use reshades black bars, sometimes bloom or DOF messes with them, and have to put a clean set above them. I dont really know what to say that is quick, I guess for more "complex" shots, like with moodlets or text messages, i just get the assets online and then edit them for myself 😭

and LASTLY, for renders: Trying to keep this short, I usually just do what I do for the aforementioned shots, but like I said in the CAS shots, weird and sharp shadows are more prominent and I just edit those to make them cleaner and then also just add sharpen and make it brighter or more contrast-y idk 🤧

scenecore is good in theory; sure you can percieve it as "coward kids not wanting to be seen as weird but still wanting to be in scene" but let me hit you with a reality whammy that most of us are actually just...dude not everyone's allowed to freely express themselves and I dont mean 'oh my parents will get mad' I mean yeesh go check some shit so having something that's scene but without the fashion part can be good for those who cant participate in the fashion part but how its been used is the problem; im in that stage of insomnia where i cant explain it well but more awake me might go in-depth but it's been fucked up by like- those who dont understand scene at all and just think scenecore looks nice (which in of itself is also not a problem as long as you dont try to like- invade scene spaces) but also take this with a "thats bs" cuz this is my 2 cents from somebody who likes scenecore (but doesnt interact w/ scene spaces) & has an alter who's actually into scene itself but isn't putting their opinion in- idfk man sorry if I dont make sense I cant even figure out what I'm saying

I literally cannot dress scene due to not being able to afford things. I cant dress punk due to my mom.

They are music based subcultures. They are ideals based subcultures.

Trying to water them down to just aesthetics IS the problem. What ever happened to PLUR? Now its no longer a code to live by. Its been watered down to something you slap on Instagram captions. Same with punk.

my review of the critically acclaimed movie hot to trot (1988)

with a record breaking 0% yes ZERO PERCENT on rotten tomatoes (proof below) you can'ter deny that this movie is a stable for any list of the worst movies of all time.

featuring cringeworthy celebratory dance sequences, hairdos, and a whole scene where he does the cliche climbing around on the edge of a really tall building, leading man bobcat goldthwait did his absolute damnedest with what he was given. the horse is not funny and the voice actor sounds like a failed radio comedian. the antagonist is annoying and punchable in the worst way. the movie is cut REALLY BADLY-- scenes that needed a little bit to sink in get cut short half a second too early. there are unnecessary and confusing sound effects only sometimes, not even through the whole movie, in the weirdest spots!! according to interviews this movie put him in "comedy jail" and led him to deciding he was not cut out to be an actor but rather a director, just so he could make sure something like this shitshow never happened again (only the first part of that is true lol but come on). to top it all off this movie features some casual assault with a woman forcing a kiss on the main character (like why do people think this is funny??), and, by nature of being an animal movie in the 80s, pretty blatant animal abuse. so does it deserve the 0%? yeah. yeah it really does. oh did i mention also that it implies dead horses are reincarnated into horseflies? yeah. um what the fuck. also the blow up horse sex doll they never mention again.

anyways i'll play devil's advocate for a bit. goldthwait was nominated for worst actor for this movie and i absolutely have to disagree. for what he was given (NOTHING!) he DOES create a likeable character. virginia madsen as allison (😳) is probably the best actor in this movie. she plays a coworker that pretends to like fred (the main character) just because he's suddenly getting lucky on the stock market, but then grows to genuinely like him despite how fucking WEIRD he is and the fact that his best friend is A HORSE! and in the end they enter a horse race together and win blah blah blah she's really cute and sweet and excited. anyways. so if you've seen anything of goldthwait's from this time period you know that he's doing this screamy, stuttery sort of awkward act that was a byproduct of like, 80s comedians just thinking screaming was funny for some reason and also being chronically nervous about performing and using it as a sort of defense mechanism. for the faint of heart it could be a huge turn off, i can see that! but seriously, worst actor, because of a bit directors had him keep cause it made people laugh?? he creates what is honestly an enjoyable character that you feel bad for, you root for, you laugh at how dumb he is, you feel for him trying to impress this girl, you just want him to end up happy. i mean that's mediocre acting at worst. idfk. bro if anything the horse's voice actor should've been nominated for worst actor. apparently after the script had been rewritten for him bc the previous horse guy sucked ass so bad they had to scrap his lines, john candy IMPROVISED most of the new script anyways. so if the movie fucking sucks maybe it's that guy's fault.

anyways! to keep the tradition of this movie being rated disgracefully low, i give it .5 out of 5 stars. but fred and allison will forever hold a very special place in my heart where they hang out with their newfound horse buddies, all watching shitty cable tv on their farmhouse porch <3

ppl like recommending transcription as online work but then they forget to mention that it is hell :)

it has nothing to do with your typing speed and everything to do with your listening comprehension and with how fast you give up lmfao

like. i like to think that i have pretty good listening comprehension but i’ve signed up for 3 different sites and i haven’t been able to submit the tests for any of them because its so frustrating and they require like 90% accuracy and how tf do i get that when what they’re saying is not inaudible but i also can’t make it out

they are sounds i cannot fathom into words and it’s so fcuking frustrating and don’t even get me started on how each place has a different style guide which might or might not make sense and even researching is impossible bECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT WORDS TO LOOK UP

like i guess it’s easier when the audio is clear or you’ve been doing it for a while or you just make sounds out more easily or you have a foot pedal or some software to make audio clearer or you’re captioning and there’s a video so you can read their lips or smth

idfk but why is it that every time i decide to give smth a shot the universe just goes ‘no’

on that note online work is such bullshit like 99% of the sites don’t accept ppl from my country or have no tasks for my country

and the ones that used to work don’t anymore or they just block you from certain tasks for ‘’’’’low accuracy’’’’ WHEN YOU HAVEN’T HAD ACCESS TO TASKS LIKE THAT IN OVER A YEAR

other than that there’s the local stuff, 90% of which require skills and studies and experience that i don’t have and 10% of which are call centers which i dont want to apply for bc phone=hell

in the last 3 years i’ve signed up/applied for over 50 sites and i was able to make like $120

and i can’t finish school so i have a degree which opens up more opportunities bc i need money for that. i can’t do a legitimate course bc that’s time and money and i need money yesterday

and i do actually want to work from home bc i’d just function better and be able to work better at home. which is why i need smth small rn so that i can help my mom out and i can save up and i can also gain some experience and take a course and then finish school AND THEN FINALLY DO SMTH THAT I DON’T MIND PUTTING EFFORT INTO BUT THAT ALSO PAYS ME FOR THAT EFFORT

but idk how to do that. and ive been trying to do that for y e a r s and i can’t wait to never have to look at a job board again
