Y/N Wayne's family and planet are tragically gone. She then finds a glimmer of hope...
Tumblr media
Y/N pulled the handle of the jet back to brace for impact into the ocean. She pushed the button to release the door. Y/N swims above the water watching her jet, her home sink to the bottom of the ocean.
She had spent 2 years in the jet.. In space all alone... After her family was murdered and her planet was destroyed.. She survived.. Because it was her husband's dying wish for her.
Then she was sucked through a portal to another universe and once then her jet was destroyed crashing into the ocean.
Y/N sees a city a few yards away that looked strikingly similar to Gotham. She knew it couldn't be her own home as it was completely obliterated. Which could only mean she was in another dimension..
The city was like a mirror. It brought up many old wounds she had kept buried... It is then she kept lowly seeing a similar place where her parents were murdered. Where she met one of her son's. She sees a man who reflected her in many ways.
It was throughout that night she saw, them... They were joyful and just as she remembers. Y/N remained hidden watching them feeling that familiar deep sense of nurturing love. She feels her eyes shaking knowing that even though they looked like her children.. They weren't.
So to give herself purpose again. She would remain in the shadows and protect them if needed be. Though she didn't expect the one whom would actually need her.
She was crept lowly on the ceiling of a building on the outer side of the alleyway. It was a dull night until..
She sees Batman below with his back arched as he cried out. Fear toxin... She, watches him reaching for the couple with their son. They were frightened as they quickly fled. She knew what memory haunted him.
She leaps down quickly as the broken dark knight let's out a grievously cry taking his cowl off. She kneels down to him. He looks at the woman above seeing her..
"mother?" he muttered
Y/N was not surprised he thought she looked as his mother.. Because she did. She completely empathized with his pain. She understands the sudden nights that will hurt and keep oneself unable to sleep. She knew the grief that never seems to heal. That some days are harder than others.
Y/N helped Batman stand to his feet. She takes the heart wounded man to the Manor. She felt as though she needed to protect him. All he thought was that she was his mother. She carefully places him on the steps. She crept lowly behind the fountain watching to ensure that he had someone. Alfred opens the doors. He hurried to his son looking for the person who saved his boy.. But saw, no one.
Bruce sits on his chair in the Bat-cave. She was good at hiding, he had no evidence of who she is. He looked on the satellite camera recording. He sees her jet crashing into the ocean. He then paused the video. He zooms closer seeing it was precisely like his own. She even looked quite similar to him. He used facial recognition.. Nothing.
Y/N stood in the warehouse where she had been staying. She sensed his presence behind her..
"how'd you find me?" she casually asked
"seeing as your me in a certain way.. I knew where you would hide"
"you're smart" she compliments with a scoff as she knows she is capable of doing the same thing.
"hmm.. How long were you out there?"
"2 years... After.." she stammered looking away from his line of sight trying to keep from crying.
"I know" Bruce quickly said knowing she probably didn't wish to speak of her grief.
"how?" she asked..
"if I were you. I would have been doing anything I could to get back to my family.. If I had one"
"why did you come here?" she asked.
"the same reason you saved me"
Y/N sits in the passenger seat in the bat-mobile as, Batman drives to the Bat-cave. The two were quiet for a few moments.
"are you married?" she asked trying to break the silence..
"engaged" Bruce replied his heart smiling thinking of her.
"who, may I ask?"
"you may. Diana Prince.."
"Diana yes.. She was.. A dear friend of mine. Is there a uh.. Clark or a.. Superman" she denied herself to let her heart hope.
"there is Clark Kent.. He's a friend.. He was your husband?"
"he was" she answered with a shaken throat
Bruce wanted to tell her but it wasn't right as it would not be what Clark would want. As Bruce parked the bat-mobile the two jumped out in sync. Alfred stepped in with a, platter of tea.
"thank you Alfred" she gratefully said
"you're quite welcome Ms Y/N" he kindly said, she had to remind herself it wasn't really her father figure.
Days went by she was acquainted with the children and adult-children. It was strange for them, meeting someone so strikingly familiar to Bruce. She told Bruce she wasn't ready to tell them who she is. Y/N began to make herself useful by helping Bruce with cases. They seemed to work quite well with each other. The siblings all stood amongst each other.
"ok tell me I'm not the only one who sees it" Steph said watching Bruce and Y/N stare at the bat-computer
"what?" Jason casually asked
"hello Bruce has a twin sister!" Steph exclaimed in a, hushed tone....
"I mean c'mon they're not that..." Dick stammered as Y/N and Bruce drink their tea in the exact same manner ".. Similar.. OK I'm with Steph on this.. Ooh maybe she's his long lost sister!"
"I would not be opposed to having a aunt" Damian casually said..
"it is a little.. Weird" Jason admitted
"yeah" Duke agreed
"don't be ridiculous. Of course he does not have a sister.. We would've known if he did and with that we certainly would've known about another vigilante, that doned his symbol" Tim insisted, he then looked at them unable to deny how her demeanor was strikingly familiar to Bruce's.
"what are you thinking?" Barbara asked seeing his wheels turning
"I think she's from another.. Parallel universe" Tim said
"I am" she answered...
"you were listening?" Dick asked embarrassed to which Cassandra smacked his head in a 'of course' manner.
"I was.." she said
"what's the, other universe like. Ooh are we in it! If so am I--" Bruce cut Steph off
"Stephanie.." he scolded
Y/N out her hand up "it's OK B.. Yes you all were"
"were?" Dick asked, she allowed her silence to answer his question "that's.. That's horrible. I'm so sorry" he sincerely said.
"even so.. It's almost comforting to know there is a version of my family... That's alive.. That's OK"
And in a, strange way she was able to cope easier. Then he came. Clark was debriefing Bruce on his mission off planet. He had been to the Manor a, few times but she avoided him completely. What if he's already happy with someone? Not that she even wanted.. She did. She wanted to know if it was possible to be with someone again. To see his face made her heart smile.......
Little did she know that 4 year's ago he had lost his, wife Lois to cancer and he had two sweet little boys.
Finally she gained enough courage to acquaint herself. Or she was growing tired of Bruce and Diana, casually making comments about her finally saying something to him.
"oh hi. Bruce never told me he had a sister.. Or cousin" Clark nervously said taken aback by her beautiful presence. He felt as though his heart was beating again.
"she is not related to me" Bruce said in his normal dull tone
"*ahem*...Where are my manners I'm Clark Kent" Y/N had to make her heart turn to stone seeing him in her presence "and you are?"
"Y/N Wayne.. To put it simply I'm from another universe"
"ohhh so you're a nice version of Batman" Clark poked to his friend, Bruce grunts in return to his remark.
"it's uh nice to meet you" she softly said
"it's nice to meet you to" he said with the same smile she missed

Went to see A Man Called Otto tonight. Thought it sounded kind of dumb from the trailer but hey, I'm a Tom Hanks fan and I have an unlimited pass to the theater, so why not.
I was very pleasantly surprised at this movie. It was soooo much deeper than the trailer let on, and Tom Hanks and Mariana Treviño did a masterful job at their roles.
I know a lot of people think this movie is about (tw) suicide, and partly yes. But I think Andrew Garfield's talk on Stephen Colbert's show explains it best.
Tumblr media
Andrew Garfield describes grief as "all the unexpressed love" that a person has. I believe this perfectly explains Otto in this movie.
Otto was a gentle soul, a very loving and accepting man, his whole life. Sure he doesn't have a lot of social skills, but once you push past that you see his genuine love and care for others. But when his wife dies, this changes. Otto has been giving his love for years, but now that his wife is gone and his best friend is estranged, he has no one to share that love with. So he sinks deeper into his grief until he feels like he has no purpose other than to take his own life and join his wife.
And then Marisol moves in. She and her family give Otto the outlet he needs to express his love, looking past the rough exterior. And through that, he is able to learn to love himself and others again.
I loved this movie and I could talk about it for hours, but I'm gonna go see it again before I do. I would highly, highly recommend going to see it.

Everyone grieves differently. There is no correct way to grieve.
Grief is not a disease that needs to be healed. Grief is a normal response to the loss of a loved one.
The key is to learn to live with grief. To accept grief and make peace with grief.
My grief is my roommate that shares my psyche, my soul, my emotions.
Like any good roommates we have house rules in order to dwell together in peace.
You don't get over grief nor move past grief. You move forward, into your grief.
You learn to live and grieve simultaneously.
To be successful at Living Life Widowed ypu learn to smile through your tears.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
Written and directed by Nora Ephron, this romantic comedy stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as recently widowed Sam Baldwin and newly engaged Annie Reed in a story partly inspired by the film An Affair to Remember.
The supporting cast includes: Bill Pullman as Annie’s fiancé Walter Jackson, Rob Reiner as Sam’s friend Jay Matthews, Rosie O’Donnell as Annie’s best friend/co-worker Becky and Ross Malinger as Sam’s 8-year-old son Jonah. Special appearances include Rita Wilson (Tom Hanks’ real-life wife) as Sam’s sister Suzy and Victor Garber as Sam’s brother-in-law Greg.
Tom Hanks’ compelling performance prompts us to sympathize with his character. Meg Ryan is just lovely, which complements her character’s charm and effervescent personality. Although they spend most of the time apart, the two leads form an on-screen connection that gradually becomes apparent as the story unfolds.
The film itself is basically a throwback to the old-fashioned depiction of cinematic romance. For example, the main characters are first seen in their own separate lives, each with a different perspective on how they perceive love. To Sam, even though he has the capacity to love (since he and his wife had something special), he’s understandably skeptical about the idea of being introduced to some woman who’s a total stranger. To Annie, she fantasizes (though in a slightly unconventional manner) about the idea of meeting her dream man upon realizing she doesn’t share the same magical connection with Walter as she does towards Sam. All in all, those particular feelings demonstrate the difference between realism and romanticism.
In contrast to An Affair to Remember, this movie depicts Jonah playing matchmaker via a call-in radio talk show in the hopes of finding a new partner for his father (fortunately, Annie happens to be one of the many female listeners tuning in), whereas the main characters of the former film are brought together by a number of events during a transatlantic crossing. Eventually, Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr’s characters agree to see each other again. However, Annie requests that she meet Sam in person with Jonah responding on behalf of his father. Annie’s rendezvous stems from her desire to recreate what she’d seen in the movies to find out whether or not she and Sam are meant to be together. Furthermore, a running gag shows Annie, Becky and Suzy bursting into tears by the impact of the 1957 melodrama, while Sam, Greg and Jonah are completely unmoved by it.
The story is also focused on the pros and cons of a long distance relationship in which Sam and Annie live in Seattle and Baltimore, respectively. Seattle (where the lead male character has relocated) has been considered a rainy city, which represents Sam’s grieving state of mind despite his attempt to move on. Meanwhile, Annie is out of touch with reality since her idea of a happy love life is shaped by the cultural impact of love in the movies. It goes to show that unlike the traditional formula of a romantic comedy, this movie deliberately keeps the two love interests separated from each other, but it still provides a sense of hope.
The soundtrack contains a collection of classic hits from various artists. The track list includes: “A Kiss to Build a Dream On” by Louis Armstrong, “Back in the Saddle Again” by Gene Autry and “Stand by Your Man” by Tammy Wynette. Additional songs include cover versions of “As Time Goes By”, “Stardust”, “Makin’ Whoopee”, “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning”, “Bye Bye Blackbird”, and “Make Someone Happy” ranging from Jimmy Durante to Joe Cocker. The film even includes the original song “A Wink and a Smile” by Harry Connick Jr and a moving duet version of “When I Fall in Love” by Clive Griffin and Celine Dion.
Thanks to Nora Ephron’s resourceful storytelling, we see a timeless classic about taking chances and following our hearts. All that said, I sincerely recommend this sweet, endearing masterpiece to every fan of both Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
