Another AU that has been knocking around my mind for a while XD I call it Moonlit AU

It can be summed as such: Pop Trolls are pretty wild bunch when it comes to looks, varying in colours, flocking/fur patterns, glitter, freckles, hair, you name it

It got me thinking, what sort of thing would they find attractive in prospective partner? While singing/harmonizing could be a part of it (and ngl, that did made me think of the Happy Feet movies, as silly as those were), my mind turned towards more physical attributes

Thus, this AU was born- where one of the reasons why Pop trolls like to be most active at night (to party) is that a Moon's Light also allows them to appreciate fur/flocking patterns otherwise hidden, where the complexity and style varies from troll to troll, as is thought to show one's inner self

Contrary to what one would expect from the Princess (and future Queen) of Pop, Poppy's patterns are rather simple- but striking nonetheless, firm and bold stripes, like taking a wide brush to a canvas- straightforward but chaotic in their hardly orderly fashion Poppy struts her patterns; they are unique and dominant among the general showing of swirls, polka dots and flower like spottings She is aware her stripes are not considered the most attractive of features- too similar to that of a predatory critter, too sharp for who is supposed to be cheerful queen of equally cheerful people- but she is a romantic at heart and believes that when it will be time to choose a consort, those physical features are surface-level importance at best, and this is the mentality she has going forward, looking at the glowing marks of her friends and considering them equally beautiful no matter what.

Until she manages to spot Branch one night outside under the full moon light that is.

Branch's pattern, in high contrast to Poppy, is far more complex. Symetrical but delicate in its filigree, and far more detailed than anything the Princess has ever seen before. Usually, Branch ventures out only on moonless nights, as he feels the glow of his marks are too visible, too dangerous to just show out and about, for every dangerous predator to see- and it is purely bad luck when bad weather caughts him outside longer than he would have liked, and Poppy manages to catch the sight of him while he is completely unaware he had been seen.

All her conviction flies right out of the window, as she looks at his delicate patterning and her mind just goes blank and - Oh

Usually she would have called out to him, ask him to come to a party- but she feels mesmerized, hypnotized by the elegance of the filigree, and her mind longs for a way to memorate it forever- with a photo, or a painting- and she stares at the entrance of his bunker long after he vanished inside, completely stupefied and wrong footed.

Before, Poppy hardly ever gave Branch a thought, when it came to this part of Pop Troll culture; as part of her, guiltily, sort of assumed that with his lack of colour, his patterning would be rather bland as well- and besides, it's not like he ever shown a desire to participate in courting dances.

But now she is left with sudden new, and unexpected feeling- her heart and breath going now a bit faster everytime she catches a glimpse of him from now on, her cheeks flushing and her tail wagging in excitement

(Her desk's drawer is filled with failed cut out scrapbook pieces of leaves and tiny detailed filigree, as she attempts to journal her sudden and new discover and cant get it quite right)

Tldr; Pop Trolls have fur/flocking patterns that appear only under the moon's light, and Poppy finds Branch's so irresistibly attractive she hardly knows what to do with herself

This pushes her to try and spend more time with him- just spend time with him, no trying to push him to go to parties with her or trying to get him to sing or hug

For his part, Branch is both secretly pleased his own crush is now paying more attention to him than to Creek (who is not happy with this development) but also holy shit Poppy is paying more attention to him, so it is kind of unnerving for him, freaking him out

How do you draw Abodes Dreads/Braids? I'm a black creator and still (embarrassingly) struggle with them in the arcana style. (And in general XD) the way you draw her is gorgeous. And I must know the magic you poses.

Nothing to be embarrassed for! Unfortunately there's not much reference for black hair in the Arcana, so we all have to guess. I'd highly recommend looking at @kianamaiart and Simkray's hair brushes for other examples of stylising black hair (if anyone has examples of black hair in angular art styles, please share!!)

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Dreads and braids are both segmented styles which makes their basic construction similar, however dreads are stiffer and hang less than braids, which are quite heavy

She usually pulls her hair back so I only have to pay attention to the hairline, but I draw each dread as a somewhat stiff tube. Where it connects to the scalp I feather in short, fine lines for the edges/thin hair that's attached to the skin.

To show the twisted texture of dreads, I add curved lines along each one. For me, this is a good balance of detail for the style (though I can still get tired of lineart -_-)

Then, as a final detail, I give Abosede imperfect ends, topping most dreads off with a thin twist. This is optional as some dreads don't have this.

Then finally, for colour. I take reference for how they render ropes and add a series of light lines along each dread. Dreads don't reflect much light, so these are pretty faint.

For some braided hairstyles, you just replace the tubes I use for dreads with a simple plait pattern (as seen in Lucio's masquerade outfit). If you're aiming for cornrows, instead of the segments, draw the tubes along the scalp with sharp ends. Then fill them with a plait pattern. For extra detail, you can hatch lines in between the cornrows where the hair is pulled into the braid.

Braids have stronger highlights than dreads, and I tend to dot them in the centre of each part.

Sorry if I already sent this in! Was inspired by bambygourl’s fanart and a TikTok I saw (this right here, https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRTkJvGK/ ). Dressing up as Roger and Jessica Rabbit for a costume party with Lucifer. I think he’d be all pouty and grumpy about dressing up as such a silly character and not a suave charming character. Especially since he’d take a look at the white button up, red trousers with suspenders, and blue bow tie with yellow polka-dots and see it as a fashion nightmare XD. And don’t get him started on the bunny ears and tail. Tho his mood is sufficiently uplifted when he sees the reader dressed up as Jessica Rabbit. Low cut red dress with a slit and all. Just imagine pulling on his suspenders or bow tie for a kiss, getting lipstick on his mouth and face, and cooing over how adorable and handsome her honey-bunny is.

i’ve actually never seen who framed roger rabbit so i hope i got a good idea of this!

there was really no convincing you otherwise, not even his puppy dog eyes worked on you! you even went as far as to use the ‘do it for me and charlie?’ card since the costume party was being hosted at the hotel, and you knew he couldn’t say no to that.

charlie had been super excited to throw this little party, and even expressed how excited she was to see what the two of you would be dressing as. there was no way he could refuse after seeing his daughters excitement. he hated and loved how you knew all his weak points.

so that’s how he ended up in the current situation, standing in front of a mirror with a frown on his face. he already had his roger rabbit outfit on and now was waiting for you to finish dressing up in the bathroom.

as he looked himself over in the mirror a wave of embarrassment washes through him. how could he go out looking like.. this?! he looked goofy! he looked more like a clown than anything else. and do not get him started on the bunny ears and tail!

how was he supposed to go out looking like this? he was the ruler of hell! he should be treated with respect, to be seen in a better costume than this. he was supposed to be feared and intimidating! he’ll only be seen as a joke if he goes out like this!

and not to mention that the outfit and the character itself does not fit him at all. he was charming and suave, not some silly cartoon bunny. it goes against all that he is. and the outfit was a fashion nightmare! he could go on and on about everything that was wrong with this.

he sighed grumpily as he adjusted the suspenders of his outfit, a wave of embarrassment washing over him. he was definitely in charge of picking the outfits next costume party for sure.

“oh honey-bunny, i’m ready!” you called from the bathroom, opening the door and stepping out of it. lucifer groaned and turned around. “i told you not to call me that-“

he had prepared to scold you more for using that dumb nickname, but the words died in his throat upon seeing you in the jessica rabbit outfit. you looked absolutely stunning in your costume! his mouth hung open slightly as he took a good look at you, from the way you had neatly styled your hair to how your body looked in that dress.

you smirked at the way he was looking at you, and you slowly approached him in a similar movement to jessica rabbit. “hm? what were you saying dear?”

lucifer stuttered, a small blush lighting on his cheeks. he was obviously stunned, and didn’t know what to say. “you’re.. beautiful.” is what he managed to stutter out.

you giggled again, a small blush of your own appearing on your cheeks. “thank you dear. you look very handsome.”

that seemed to snap lucifer out of his trance, his stunned expression turning into a pout. he crossed his arms and huffed. “i don’t look handsome, i look totally ridiculous! i can’t believe you talked me into this..”

you sighed playfully and rolled your eyes. lucifer could be so dramatic at times, but you usually let it pass since it was cute. while lucifer was too busy being pouty, you leaned down and hooked a finger around his suspenders, a smirk resting on your lips.

lucifer blinked, looking a little surprised now. he opened his mouth to say something, but was once again stunned into silence when he realized how close the two of you were.

with a hum, you tugged him even closer, both your lips meeting softly. lucifer froze for a moment but was quick to recover, kissing back with a small sigh. the kiss only lasted for a few seconds but when you pulled away lucifer seemed in love all over again. he would never get tired of your kisses, especially when you were so pretty.

“my handsome little bunny..” you cooed, caressing his cheek gently, which made lucifer’s heart leap. he momentarily forgot about his complaints about the nickname and the outfit, leaning into your touch.

“you really think so?” he murmured, his eyes shining. you nodded, giving him a peck on the cheek. “i know so. now are you all ready to go? you don’t want to keep charlie waiting.

lucifer sighed dreamily, seemingly still lost in the moment. “alright..” he said without a fuss, and you smiled. taking his hand, you led him towards the front of the door.

despite looking goofy and unserious in this costume, he knew that he would be having a good time tonight.

Servamp chapter 133 translation "One"

Read the chapter on MangaDex!

Oh boy, while this chapter doesn't have as much dialogue like the rest that I have to work on, I had some lines that gave me trouble, like you will see in the TL notes, so please look over them. Translation notes

Although it's trivial and I'll be going over something from an early chapter but hey, you'll see just how bad the English translation is, especially with the early volumes.

Some time ago I asked on Twitter if people recalled the nickname Kuro had for Sakuya, because I had the impression he had one for him in the early chapters, similar to how Kuro calls Misono "kisama-chan", which I translate as little bastard xD Kuro refers to Sakuya as 外ハネ "soto hane" which I translated simply as "curly hair", rather than "flipped hair" which is what you'll see if you google the term. I looked into the anime subs and it was translated as "side flare." I could have used that, but to quote Mahiru, "Simple is best" xD

IIn the official localization of the manga it's not even translated T_T

The 2nd and 3rd panel are poorly translated, like the "grungy" joker part, Kuro just calls him "joker" and that's where he also calls him "soto hane. Oh boy but the last two lines in the 3rd panel are soo bad. What Kuro said originally was "I don't think little bastard and him would get along", to which Mahiru replies "Little bastard...you mean Misono?!" Yeah, so it's quite different. Okay, so let's move on to the other notes I have for this chapter.

Tsubaki's last line had me like "What?" Hopefully I haven't misunderstood it. So, Tsubaki uses the word 貯蔵庫 which means storehouse which sounds weird...The way it's written in Japanese, his line could also be translated as "Put away the "prototype" used for storage", but that doesn't make sense, right? Also, I can't say if it's singular or plural regarding the word prototype. I used the plural only because he said "siblings", cause I think it refers to them. So yeah, it's weird, what does he mean regarding storage? We'll have to see if it's brought up in other chapters.

While most of the characters' abilities have two different readings to them, in this case, the furigana reading which is the intended reading is actually used to show the pronunciation of the kanji.

Tanaka-sensei used different kanji with the same pronunciation to spell the words "shura" that is written as 修羅 and "sousou" (funeral) which is written as 葬送 Shura (or Asura), has been brought up before by Tsubaki, but with another meaning, such as fighting; carnage.

Tsubaki's ability in Japanese is written as 朱羅葬想

修=朱

送=想

So instead of the usual kanji 修羅葬送 (shura sousou) in this case, the first and 4th kanji were replaced like I showed above, both having the same pronunciation and you can't exactly get a translation for the words, so I will just breakdown each kanji to see what they represent.

The first kanji 朱 means "red; vermilion; cinnabar; scarlet". This one is probably used to make a reference to blood in my opinion.

The fourth kanji 想 means "thoughts, emotions, feelings".

So yeah, written like this 朱羅葬想 it can't be translated and the kanji that were used are most likely meant to be representative for Tsubaki. That's my opinion.

He also says the word 迎え (mukae) which means "meeting; greeting; welcome". I can't say how it relates to "shura sousou", but I thought that maybe his ability has styles? Perhaps the "welcome" is one style like from what we see, he makes some kind of barrier and when he's attacked, he vanishes and appears behind Kuro Maybe he has other fighting styles used for close combat.

Oh my God, like maybe it sounds dumb but I legit didn't know how else I could adapt what Kuro says about the counter-attack, because there were hardly any examples of how some of the words in Japanese were used, like one of them was from what I gathered, a term used in sports that translates as "take the field first" and another one basically meant ""going second" and there was another example that basically meant "going second", then there was another word that I only found in a single example...It was awful.

Cleaning the speech bubble was tough and I think it looks decent.

As you might have seen, I added this page again at the end of the chapter on Mangadex to show the other reading of the ability, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" because I couldn't add it because there wasn't enough space in the speech bubble. So, when I looked up the word, it was interesting that Wiedergänger share similarities to strigoi from my country's folklore. I think others might have brought this up regarding inner Kuro, but the fact that he uses a stake to pierce himself and uses it as a weapon that takes the form of the thing that was used to kill Kuro, a stake is used to kill a strigoi to keep them in their coffins.

Regarding inner Kuro's last line, the intended reading is "let's talk" but the other reading says "let's fight".

Also, he uses the verb 引きこもる "hikikomoru" and when you make it into a noun, you get hikikomori which is how Kuro is described. I had to chose a word that would fit both character's lines, because I couldn't have inner Kuro says "hey come on, don't be a shut-in", "or "don't seclude yourself from me", it would have sounded weird.

I think it's clever how Tanaka used that specific verb instead of just saying something like "Hey, don't stand so far away" So yeah, hopefully my insights were helpful :)

So...yeah as you know from my previous post..I like the NATLA Jet. So I need to draw him!!Anw this is also my first Jet (or was it Haru?) art!! XD. I love how amazing @sebastianamoruso portray him in the LA~

But still, I honestly thought he was Haru in the beginning of EP 3.. if you observed, his hair style and bangs in the left was kinda similar with Haru. Several scenes also seems to be referecing from B1C5 the imprisonment, so maybe Jet in this LA version he is indeed the combination of Haru and Jet!! XD

Anyway I hope this LA continue to season 2. I really want to see what happened to Jet in this version. Will he get taken to Ba Sing Se and..........hmmmm you know 😔

OR he could get Haru treatment and got pretty moustache?! heheheh 😆😆/j

Disney Prince x Princess Couples SWAP!!!

FYI: I'm ONLY counting official Princess couples, which ends with Anna being the last one with a canon love interest. So, there's no Merida, Elsa, Moana, or Raya. The goal for this was to have Prince x Princess crossover pairings ONLY.

Snow White x Eugene

Rapunzel is basically Modern-Day Snow White, and they have very similar Pure Hearts, the kind that can break down Eugene's walls. Snow White knows how to be firm when necessary, but her greatest strength is her unfailing kindness. Eugene would definitely reveal his deepest desires after sharing a cup of tea with Snow.

Cinderella x Adam (the Beast)

Picture this: Cinderella chooses to stay at the Beast's castle in exchange for her family (be it her dad, who is alive some versions of the fairytale, or her step-family, because she IS selfless enough to try to help them). Kyojuro embodied the burning flame of the sun. He wasn't the star itself, no, but he was even better than that.. he was the flames that made it burn oh so bright. the flames that put the title "star" to shame. This earned him the title 'the sun of the corps' very quickly. With his perfect and bright smile, his burning eyes that gleam with so much passion, and his burning energy, he could make even the strongest weak in the knees, and he did just that.

Kyojuro never accepted any of the many marriage proposals he was offered. He had his fair reasons, but no matter what order he listed them in, only one of those reasons always came out first. 'It would be unfair to them! I am a Demon Slayer, a Hashira at that! I could never put my beloved wife under that stress. I won't always be home, I won't be able to protect her, I couldn't bare being the reason they're endangered!" A big smile and a raised head gracing his figure, only Kyojuro would say all that energetically. Regardless of this, he knew that if he was ever going to marry a woman, it would either be once he's retired, so a long time from now, or a fellow slayer, where he wouldn't need to worry of endangering her. He prioritized his career so heavily that he never even thought of marriage, that was, until he saw you. he swears he heard the wedding bells ring in his ears.

He was so infatuated with you the moment he laid eyes on you, he hadn't seen you before. You were a newly appointed Tsuguko, and you had taken up crystal breathing. it derived from stone breathing in a similar way that Mitsuri created love breathing. You were currently with Gyomei, excitedly explaining how your breathing technique worked. You were graceful with the way you spoke and your voice was almost like a whisper, regardless of his deafness. It was a contrast to your 'flashy' appearance. you had a uniform similar to Mitsuri, the chest opening needing an extra button to hold your chest well enough to avoid flashing somebody. you wore a long loin cloth styled skirt that only had a flap covering your front and behind, showcasing your thick thighs to everyone. Your Haori was white and adorned small clear crystals on it, making you shine when you walked in the sun. you also adorned many extravagant hair and body accessories, highlighting your technique. As you walked, he noticed your leg muscles subtly flex, and he felt the the air leave his body. Gyomei had handed you his weapon, and you very easily held up the heavy thing without a stutter, making Kyojuro smile, you were very clearly strong and the soft appearance of your body made him melt. He decides now's a good chance to introduce himself to you. When he does, you realize people were right, he really is the sun of the corps. With pink dusitng your cheeks, you sneak a glance at him and you meet eachothers eyes. You get pinker and maintain eye contact, being enthralled in his flaming eyes, literally. He gets pink on his ears and stutters, something he hadn't done in awhile. You smile at him and bow, "Hello Rengoku, i'm l/n, Gyomeis tsuguko." He bows back at you, smiling, "It's a pleasure to be in your presence!" Your eyes widen and you snort, "likewise! it's an honor actually." Your giddiness eases him and he allows himself to admire you and continue conversing with both you and gyomie. your crow lands on Kyojuros shoulder and delivers it's message, "Your presence is wanted at the Butterfly Estate! Head over before noon!" You smile and pet your crow, "Okay Koko! I'll be right over, thankyou!" Your crow flies away and you excuse yourself from them both. Before you walk away to leave, you look at Kyojuro, contemplating if you should ask to see him again. You fluster and begin to overthink. Your about to turn around to walk away, but Kyojuro speaks first. "l/n! I would like to see you again! When will I have a chance to speak with you!" you mirror his big smile before quietly saying, "Today in the afternoon, if you can, at the garden that's near the butterfly estate." 'perfect.' he thinks, getting giddy. You wave at him goodbye and run. Gyomei hums, "She isn't usually that quiet around others, regardles of rank and knowingness. she might be smitten with you, Kyojuro." Gyomei smiles at Kyojuro and Kyojuro laughs loudly, a deep laugh. "I see!"

Kyojuro Rengoku absolutely loves your skull crushing thighs.

He's always touching them or grabbing them when he can. Sometimes, he'll even lay in between them as you read or eat when your on break while he eats. If he can't be inbetween them, he'll lay his head on them, the plushness of them when theyre not flexed offering something comfortable to lean on. Sometimes, he nips at your thighs playfully and blurts out his iconic UMAI! making you both laugh. Once, when his crow came to give him a letter, he asked you for a sheet of paper and your writing utensil to write back. You happily obliged and gave it to him, and he kissed your thighs. You had stiffened up from the unexpectedness and he said 'Perfect! Keep them like that!" and he used your thigh muscles as a table. He got the idea from Mitsuri and Obanai, she was excited when she caught him doing it once.

Kyojuro Rengoku absolutely loves how easily you can throw him around.

you both train together often, and it usually leads to roughhousing and playfully wrestling because you both just can't take anything serious.. Kyojuro quickly realizes he has no chance with you and before he can escape, you have him in a chokehold. 'Give up Kyo!' you say, and he laughs. 'I'd rather die!' you giggle, 'As you wish~!' and you slam him down, expertly and quickly knocking the wind out his lungs. He cackles as he tries to recover from the blow and grabs onto your bicep in an attempt to drag you down, instead doing the exact opposite. He feels your muscles flex and is snet into panic and he's thrown back onto his feet, 'Sorry Kyo!' you laugh and he can't help but laugh too because of how much of a drastic difference your voice is from your actions. Tengen, from afar, allows bewilderment to overtake his features as he speaks to Inosuke. 'I'd like to see you beat her, kid' Inosuke yells, 'Is that a challenge! I could beat her in battle any day!' Aoi begs to differ. Tengen had grouped up the kamabori squad to see Inosuke fight you and had winced harshly just two seconds in.

Kyojuro Rengoku absolutely loves biting you, because 'your too cute.'

he doesn't do it in a sexual manner , more in a playful loving way if anything. he just loves how although there is alot of muscle in your body, there's more skin that accompanies it and it's soft enough to sink his teeth into. He's a hungry man, and savors every meal, even if that meal is you. He worships your body and the bite marks are proof of it. He nips at your cheek, hands, calves, thighs, anything and everything he can get his hands on. He sometimes bites your muscles just to do it, theres no reason, he just likes the hardness of it when you flex. His favorite place to bite you is your cheeks, they seem to have a natural blush and softness to them that he just can't stop himself from biting them.

Kyojuro Rengoku absolutely loves eating with you.

he loves seeing you eat, and he loves eating, and he loves you, and he loves himself, so honestly? it's all his favorite things put together and its a perfect day. He just loves how you put everything people dish out away in one go without any set backs. You explain to him how eating is important to the soul, and its the key to health and wellness, and how it helps create more muscle because 'you can't build on just your bones'. He listens intently with all his focus and agrees, sharing this information with Mitsuri and Shinobu, who both agree. Mitsuri decides then and there your her new best friend, much to Obanais distaste, and Shinobu hums proudly that you know the importance of meals. Shinobu started using you as an example in the Butterfly Mansion, without your knowledge. All the younger demon slayers look up to you and eat three meals a day religiously. You found out when a slayer had scolded their buddy for skipping lunch and that 'y/n would be dissapointed'.

funfact! On yours and kyojuros funeral, the sunset had lasted the longest it ever had that entire year, and "the sun always meets the earth" was engraved on your shared tombstone.

Overall, I feel that you would be very compatible. He loves extra skin on his women, especially those who eat as much as he does. He can eat with you all day long with no issue and he finds the curves you get from it sexy. He also loves muscles because it affirms to him that you are very strong and he would be at ease knowing you can protect yourself. He also just likes being thrown around I feel, since he's always the stronger one. He likes a challenge and although you are very strong, he will never use his full strength on you because he likes to have you thinking you can overpower him any time. He doensn't bother hiding it during your wedding though; he's carrying you bridal style for hours.

So I read your summary for Keiko's live stream with Kaori and how they're joking about Gyaru and Keiko's sunglasses(?) and I wonder if you got that picture of what they're talking about? Oh and how Gyaru is Keiko really at her younger days?

Hello there!

For anyone who is curious, THIS is the post in question.

And yes, Keiko was very much in her gyaru era back in the early 2000s. She rocked some crazy looks to be honest. Lots of weird prints, big hair, heavy eye make-up, a super light lipstick, the trademark peace signs and duck faces, etc...

I couldn't find an exact match of the picture that Kaori is describing during the broadcast (Keiko looking over the top of a pair of sunglasses while doing a peace sign). There are similar pictures of course (see above) and also some pretty old ones of Kaori and Keiko posing together but neither of them look particularly gyaru here so I don't think Kaori was referring to those...

Keiko seems to be quite embarrassed about that time period but honestly, she looks so cute in every single picture (questionable styling choices notwithstanding XD)

There's no competition, I love the new one SO MUCH.

Trying to make them all look different while still having that Link flare is a challenge but fun.

His pink hair is such an improvement over the bright red that blended WAAAY to much into his hat.

Trying to draw his eyes more similar to how Akira does as well.

I made him slightly paler and Blue slightly less pale to give them some skin variation.

Red's hair and skin were blending too much imo before I made him paler. Working with various shades of red and pinks is so hard agh.

Gave him a more cherry red tunic too + a red for his belt and hat rim.

I'm taking this as an opportunity to talk about things I love about drawing/designing them.

Blue's super long side burns are a favorite design choice tho. XDDDD

Blue also has a more unique nose shape being inspired by the noses in Soul Eater.

Him having no tights I think shows his wreck-less nature. XD

Thicc eyebrows are visually tasty and don't let anyone say otherwise-

Vio's face + hair is a favorite of mine. He has such a draw-able face.

Him wearing twilight princess Link's outfit is very fitting for him I think.

Him always having his sword visible is annoying to draw but also shows he perpetually has it there is kinda off-putting.

It's also SUCH a stark contrast when in the head space he has no armor and is in way less clothes. I wouldn't call them "revealing" because they're not, but they are compared to his 100% head to toe covered look in the real world. No armor, no long sleeve shirt no long tights. Just a baggy t shirt and shorts lol.

His tunic having a chainmail layer underneath is fun, Vio is the most armored up Link out of the four atm with his arm guards PLUS chainmail.

Vaati is literally color-picked from minish cap and his design is taken right from that too, but playing around with him reverting back to Wind demon mode is super fun art wise.

His colored Akira art is so desaturated agh. XD

I'd love to give Vaati a new outfit at some point tho.

Dark's blank slate design is a favorite of mine. He's so dang cute but I'm very excited to draw him in new things when he gets a new outfit. I think atm tho it draws attention to his creepy chest eyeball, changing hair and his expressions more since his outfit IS so bland.

I just love Link. He is so precious to me. Trying to work in all the colors from the four of them was a challenge but also really satisfying in the final design I think.

I just love how Green is tiered and his hair is similar to Link's but with a cap on. Also he makes me like the color green I typically don't like working with green. XDDDD

His hair is a MESS and inspired by Oracle of ages manga Link's hair. Specifically how it tilts down instead of sticking upward like in FS.

Him wearing Ocarina of Time Link's outfit is fun but I think it works better on Shadow. XDDDD

I'm really happy people liked Gannondorf because I struggled hah. My art style is more simple than Akira's but I'm glad I could capture the essence of Gannondorf. UwU

Like, he was mostly inspired by Twilight Princess Gannon with Wind Waker and Ocarina Gannon flare.

Ngl I love how OOT Link's outfit looks on Shadow Link. He looks so edgy.

The hot topic boots and different toned brown for his chest belt and actual belt are just the cherry on top. XD

I try to keep his hair in line with how it's drawn in FS because it gives him a unique silhouette when he's a shadow.

Though I'd love to design him more Gannondorf inspired attire like his desert cloak.

His TP manga Midna inspired look was mostly due to me wanting to find a way to show his expressions while ALSO showing he is an entirely black shadow.

Anyways yeah, FSR is very fun to work on visually XD

Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous Wig Tutorial: How to Create a Beautiful Gem-like Finish!

When I first saw the characters in Houseki no Kuni, I knew right away that I wanted to cosplay Diamond, but to be honest, I did not like any of the commonly used methods to achieve the iridescent effect at the time (cellophane can easily be damaged, glitter doesn’t have the finish I want, resin is difficult to work with, etc.), so I did some research on ways to achieve a more convincing finish.

My main inspiration came from nail artists achieving a smooth iridescent finish similar to what I wanted for my wig (Fun fact, I became a SimplyNailogical fan during this whole process XD). Once I discovered that iridescent nail powder was the key material I needed, from there, I did some trial and error experiments to figure out the best method to apply it onto a wig and came up with this method!

This is not a styling tutorial on how to create a Diamond wig specifically, but rather how to create the unique gem-like finish on any wig! This tutorial can apply to any Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous character you’d like! :D

(Disclaimer, this method and the Diamond wig pictured above were created in 2021, but the wig featured in this tutorial was styled in 2024)

Skill level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: At least basic wig styling skills, dependent on character

Materials needed:

Wig (style varies based on character, but I recommend using a thick base wig if you can! )

Wig head that’s close to the size of your head to ensure that style conforms properly to your head size

Wig stand

Got2b spray and glue

Flexbond primer (amount needed varies, but for reference, I was able to cover my Diamond wig with about ¾ of a 16 oz bottle)

Mod Podge Gloss waterbase sealer (optional if Flexbond is tacky enough on its own)

Iridescent/holographic nail powder (any can work depending on the finish you want, but I used the Aurora pigment powder from the brand What’s Up Nails. One little 1 gram jar was enough to cover two Diamond wigs with quite a bit left over, a little goes a long way!)

Clear gloss varnish

Spray bottle

Wide decoupage brush and/or any wide paintbrush

Silicone face mask brush (optional, but I find it great for smoothing out thick coats of Flexbond)

Mini scissors to trim stray hairs and/or excess Flexbond

Latex or vinyl gloves to rub on nail powder

Safety requirements:

Wear gloves to protect your hands. The nail powder is safe to touch barehanded, but the rubbing needed to buff the powder onto the wig may cause skin irritation or chafing if done excessively.

The nail powder is very fine, so I suggest wearing a face mask to avoid breathing it in/blowing it away. There are no toxic fumes or substances used in this tutorial, so a basic face mask should suffice.

Keep the floor covered to protect the Flexbond from getting on it and causing a slipping hazard (also great for easy cleanup!) I initially laid out a bunch of old Amazon bags around the wig stand, but I recently picked up a handy device from Assist Wigs in Japan that was originally designed to catch cut wig hair, but it does a pretty good job catching dripping glue and loose nail powder as well!

Step 1:

Style your wig as you would a normal wig. This is highly dependent on the character you choose, but from experience, I have two tips I would highly recommend:

Make your wig about 10-20% fuller than you want the final wig to be. Like how actual hair flattens when it’s wet, depending on how the wig is styled, the same thing may happen once the Flexbond is added.

Try to keep at least the outer layer of hair on your wig as smooth and free of tangles as possible. When you coat the wig with Flexbond, any knots or irregularities in the wig will be emphasized. To avoid this, thoroughly comb through your wig to get rid of tangles and straighten any kinks or irregularities. Teasing your wig can leave the outside looking messy, so try to stick to the crimping method to add volume to wigs if needed, or at least limit teasing to areas that will be hidden with smoother hair later on.

I was quite fortunate that there’s an official 3D model video with the perfect references for Diamond’s hair that I was able to use as reference for my wig!

Step 2:

If you haven't already, protect the floor underneath your wig with any sort of protective covering to catch the Flexbond that will drip down from your wig.

Step 3:

Use Got2B spray and spiking glue to hold the style in place to prepare for the next steps. Apply enough to make the wig relatively stiff, but avoid getting the hair saturated up to the point where the hair looks wet and stringy.

You'll know your wig is ready for Flexbond when your wig is quite stiff on the outside, as shown in the video above.

Step 4:

Take your Flexbond and dilute it with water to make a thin sprayable glue. I recommend about a 1 to 3 ratio of Flexbond to water to create a solution that is thin enough to easily spray yet still strong enough to be an effective glue. I would say the viscosity is similar to milk.

Step 5:

Apply the diluted Flexbond to the wig in a fine mist. If you see any significantly large droplets, use your fingers to carefully smooth them out. Do your best not to press down too hard or oversaturate the wig, as the goal is to create a hard outer shell on your wig rather than to saturate the entire wig in glue.

Repeat Step 5 a few times until your wig feels solid up to the point where the wig hair stays in place even when shaken around (or even turned upside down!) This step is very important because this creates the solid foundation for your wig that will support all the thick Flexbond layers you will be applying later.

Step 6:

Once your wig is solid, coat the outer surface of the wig (you can cover all visible hair if desired, but I like having the hair inside soft against my skin) with a generous coat of Flexbond. You want this first coat to be thick enough to completely cover the outside of the wig’s surface, but not so much that the Flexbond is dripping.

However, if noticeable drips do occur, you can smooth them out with your brush while they’re still wet or trimmed off with scissors if already dried.

Repeat Step 6 for about 2-3 layers or until your wig has a smooth, almost glossy looking appearance, as pictured below.

Below are a few helpful tips to help you with this step!

Remember how if you did Step 5 correctly, you should be able to turn the wig upside down? You can use this to your advantage to help you coat the bottom half of the wig! Just be sure that the top half is completely dry before you place it on a surface. I would also alternate between coating the top half and the bottom half to keep the coats even.

2. You can use the Flexbond to gradually fill gaps between the fibers for a smoother appearance. Also, the more layers, the less emphasized the hair strands will be on the final product.

Step 7:

If you have stray hairs or glue strands that you find distracting, you can trim them off using a sharp pair of scissors. In the example above, you can see how I trimmed the frayed-looking ends of the hair to create nice clean points

Make sure to do this step prior to applying any nail powder to avoid wasting powder that be covering an area that will be cut off.

Step 8 (Possible extra step):

The first time I made my Diamond wig, I was able to rub the nail powder directly onto the Flexbond, which was just tacky enough for the powder to adhere itself to the wig. However, this time around, the Flexbond was not tacky enough and the powder would not adhere properly. I am unsure why this occurred, whether it was the weather/humidity (I created the first wig around Summer 2021 vs. this wig in late winter/early spring 2024) or Rosco tweaking the Flexbond formula sometime in the past few years. Thankfully, I was able to remedy this issue by applying a thin coat of Mod Podge Gloss, which I found stayed temporarily tacky for about 20 minutes after drying.

If you also encounter the same issue, apply a layer of Mod Podge Gloss over your wig. Check it frequently to able to apply the powder as soon as possible once it is dry before the Mod Podge loses its tackiness. Don't be too impatient though, as the Mod Podge will smear if you try to apply the powder before it is dried.

(I’m not sure if using only Mod Podge to create this outer shell would work as opposed to using the Flexbond due to its lower viscosity and lack of flexibility in thicker coats, but I do think it’d be an interesting experiment to try! If it’s successful, it’d be a much more accessible and budget-friendly option!)

*If the Flexbond you applied is tacky enough to apply powder onto directly, you can skip this step and jump ahead to Step 9.

Step 9:

Once your wig is dry, put on your gloves and dip your finger into the nail powder to coat it with a thin layer of powder. Take this powder and buff it onto the surface of your wig, similar to how you would buff nail powder onto your nails. Buff thoroughly until the surface is smooth and looks reflective. It should look almost like metallic/iridescent paint was applied rather than a powdery glitter. Continue this process on the entire wig.

Step 10

If you feel like you need more coverage with the nail powder after applying the first layer, coat the wig with another coat of Flexbond/Mod Podge (depending on what you use to adhere the nail powder), let it dry, then apply another layer of nail powder. You can repeat this process until you satisfied with the coverage. Depending on the powder used, I find that at least 3-4 coats are needed to obtain full coverage and a smooth finish!

Step 11:

Once you are satisfied with the finish, coat the wig in one last layer of Flexbond to protect the finish and add a bit of depth to the glassy finish as opposed to varnish alone.

Step 12:

Add a final coat of gloss varnish to give your wig a beautiful glassy finish! You may notice the Flexbond turning white again underneath the varnish. Do not panic, Flexbond is known to do that when it gets wet! Once everything is dry again, it will return to being clear. :)

You Did it!

Now you have your finished Houseki no Kuni wig with a lovely iridescent finish that is not only beautiful, but also indestructible (seriously, I’ve thrown this thing at a wall and it stayed in perfect condition XD) and super easy to put on (very flexible and goes on like Lego hair XD)!

For my second Diamond wig, I wanted to be experimental and try remaking the wig with a shape more accurate to the show (less visible hair strands and more like solid shapes) and adding subtle stripes of color underneath the Flexbond. I will be honest, I actually ended up liking the first one a tad more ^^; It’s okay though, I still learned a lot, and I feel the mistakes I went through the second time around really helped me perfect the technique for this tutorial :)

Another key thing that I messed up on for the second wig is that due to lack of time, I was unable to apply as many layers of the nail powder as I would've liked. As mentioned in Step 10 above, adding at least 3-4 coats will result in a smooth lovely iridescent finish, as seen here on my first Diamond wig!

As mentioned before, this tutorial can apply to any Houseki no Kuni character! Here’s a little work-in-progress of my Phos wig! :) I actually used body glitter by Nyx Cosmetics instead of nail powder because it gave a similar smooth finish to the nail powder and gave the wig more of a blue-green-gold shift rather than a full iridescent rainbow spectrum.

Bonus tip: for characters who have multiple distinct layers/sections in their hair, like Phos in this example (undercut and top half), I suggest applying the Flexbond and nail powder in sections as opposed to all at once.

Let's Talk About PingXie: Part 3

PingXie Fanfiction Vocabulary

Or "Some Words in PingXie Fanfiction That Can't Be Translated Properly by MTL" XD

Here is a list of words that I found interesting, and occasionally appeared in PingXie fanworks. Some of these words, I couldn't find the exact equivalent in English, so excuse me for the long explanation. My friend helped me but my knowledge is still limited (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ

It's not a complete list (and kinda random). Please note that they are mostly used in PingXie/DMBJ fandom, I don't know about other fandoms. I may add some more, if I find it again.

【1】窗户纸 (mtl: window paper) : it's like a trope where they're being so ambiguous and the status of their relationship may not be revealed, but everyone also knows that they are lovers. It's a special connotation of symbolic objects in Chinese culture, refers to two people who have a very deep love but did not confess to each other, their feelings are hidden in the heart. Other people also know that their relationship is similar to lovers but they did not say it. It's like a layer of window paper has not been pierced.

【2】捅窗户纸 (mtl: pierce the window paper) : it's almost the same as the previous one, but they come to the realization of their feelings and confess to each other. They end up together, become lovers.

【3】论坛体/直播体 (mtl: forum body/live broadcast body) : something like Social Media AU, but it's often on the forum instead or written in forum style.

【4】竹马 (mtl: bamboo horse) : a male childhood friend

【5】校草 (mtl: school grass/school bully) : the most handsome boy in the school

【6】沙雕 (mtl: sand sculpture) : funny and silly

【7】骨科 (mtl: orthopedics) : incest

【8】伪骨科 (mtl: pseudo-orthopedics) : they are brothers but not real siblings

【9】清水 (mtl: clear water) : no description of s*xual activities

【10】破镜重圆 (reunited after a broken mirror) : they meet again after separation which is usually not in a good way/unreconciled

【11】本传 (mtl: biography) : refers to the main story of DMBJ

【12】杭州名木/杭州著名木头 or 吴邪，杭州一块有名的木头 (mtl: Wu Xie, a famous piece of wood in Hangzhou) : it's like comparing Wu Xie to the wood, because he is being oblivious and insensitive, he doesn't notice that Zhang Qiling loves him haha. There is a meme based on this lol.

【13】铁木真/铁・木・真 (tiě mù zhēn/temujin) : it's not Genghis Khan here, it's a pun or a joke about Wu Xie. It's like the previous one, but added one more element.

"铁" (tl: steel/iron) for "钢铁直男" means he is a straight man of steel

"木" (tl: wood) for "杭州著名木头" means he is the famous wood in Hangzhou

"真" for "天真" Wu Xie's "Tiānzhēn"

【14】白月光 "bái yuèguāng" (mtl: white moonlight) : the first love that can't be forgotten

【15】吴山四美 "wúshān sì měi" : four beauties of Wushan(ju)—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi

【16】嫩牛五方 "nèn niú wǔ fāng" : a group of five people—Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, Pangzi, Xie Yuchen, Hei Xiazi

【17】挨千刀 (mtl: suffer a thousand cuts) : it is used to scold someone, but it is not insulting them. Its tone is more into worried rather than being angry. For example, Wu Xie complains "挨千刀的闷油瓶" in his heart, it sounds like he uses a spoiled tone to show his annoyance.

【18】醋[瓶] (mtl: vinegar) : jealous [Zhang Qiling]

【19】墨水[瓶] (mtl: ink) : a slight dark [Zhang Qiling]

【20】排雷 (mtl: demining) : a setting that you should pay attention before reading, usually it is unacceptable for most people.

【21】黑金古刀 (mtl: black gold ancient sword/black gold ancient knife) : Xiaoge's sword

【22】大白狗腿 (mtl: big white dog legs) : Wu Xie's dagger

【23】发丘指 (mtl: hair mound finger/Faqiu finger) : Zhang Qiling's two long fingers

【24】哥嫂 : brother and sister-in-law, refers to Zhang Qiling (哥) and Wu Xie (嫂)

【25】吃软饭 "chī ruǎn fàn" (mtl: eat soft rice) : a slang that means men rely on women to survive

【26】吃豆腐 (mtl: eating tofu) : something like taking advantage of others, teasing or flirting, etc.

【27】 PA : parody

【28】脐橙 (mtl: navel orange) : a wordplay of "骑乘" which means r*ding

【29】水煎 (mtl: boiled water/water decoction) : a word play for "睡奸" which means somn*philia

【30】 Doi : same as ML (from English "do" and "i" from Chinese "Love" (爱 "ài")

【31】双龙 (mtl: double dragon) : a man gets r*ped by two other men at the same time, in this case, it has the same meaning as "两瓶一邪" (both of the 2 Zhang Qiling, 1 Wu Xie).

【32】爆炒/炒 (mtl: stir-fry/fried) : erotic content/explicit s*xual content

【33】 QJ : r*pe

【34】 XP : s*xual fetish

【35】 SP : sp*nking

Psycho gun guy who gets really excited about gambling

Huge one-sided crush on Yamiko

Joey's face makes him want to throw up for some reason

• Nosaka Miho - Head of Public Relations (Yumemite Yumemi/Nosaka Miho)

Her signature symbol is a pink strawberry
