Okay, but if he still has working tear ducts he would cry because “at least people like cats, Jazz! How am I supposed to go anywhere without people knowing that I’m a freak now?!”

Probably asks his parents for a custom face mask, depending on how big the mandibles are. Anything, no matter how gaudy, would be better than that.

Actually, how would his Phantom form work? If he can shapeshift, it would be simple enough to look normal-ish because he’s spent most of his life like that, and it’s more than likely he feels more like himself without the bug bits. That would help hide his identity I guess, so that’s a little bit of a relief. On the other hand, if he can’t shapeshift yet… it’s basically an instant reveal. Uh oh.

Anyway, I guess most of his mutation would depend on what kind of bug he becomes. A butterfly is a lot different than an ant after all. If it’s a combination of multiple bugs, it could be near anything.

I suppose I would expect pincers, wings, and compound eyes. What kind of wings? I don’t know. There are a lot of options. Perhaps the Spotted Lanternfly. Just found it, it’s pretty cool. In Phantom form just replace the red with bright green.

Apparently their mouths are made for piercing plants and sucking their sap out. Not exactly mandibles/probuscus, but close!

Anyway, his Wail… I imagine it would mutate to sound like a cicada-A regular cicada already produces noice up to 100 decibels. Danny’s new Wail would probably be AT LEAST twice as effective as it already was, which is Scary considering how strong it already is.

All things considering, he’d been having a decent day before this had shaken him. Alastor had spent the morning with Niffty, entertaining her whims for a tea party. He’d spent most of the day secluded in his office, reviewing paperwork and some surprising sponsors that were interested in the hotel. He’d been kicked back with some coffee and simple biscuits, laconically outstretched in one of his favorite chairs. It had been a placid day; nice and calm. He hadn’t even wanted to answer the door when he was told he had a package.

The radio demon knew no good could ever come from that, not with the amount of enemies he’d amassed in these decades. Sometimes they’d been quite creative. It could be good for a laugh if he didn’t find himself disgustingly underpowered with these unclipped wings.

Wings. How funny that was in his thought train when he opened the box. What an interesting coincidence, almost like intuition. It barely took a moment to decipher when he saw the severed appendages. He knew the brilliant pattern like the back of his hand. Warm feathers that he’d found draping over him on quite a few occasions. Feathers that he loved to toy with; pluck one or two out to piss off the owner. Feathers he’d preened, patterns he’d adored. Feathers that Niffty had constantly complained about during their shed—it didn’t look like she’d be complaining anymore.

Alastor barely realized he’d done nothing but stare for the past five minutes, in a state of near dissociation. He didn’t notice the way the lights were flickering, and he didn’t hear Charlie’s own shrieks when she recognized the wings. The lobby was swarmed in a mass of tendrils that knocked things over and pierced through the furniture, and Alastor didn’t notice a thing.

“Shh…hold still sweetie. You lost a lot of blood, sugar. Focus on my voice, okay?” Rosie was so grateful she’d followed her old friend, toting a bag of left over sandwiches and cookies she meant to give him. She was a moment too late. She’d reached the curb just in time for the exhaust of the car’s engine to soil the air. She saw the license plate…and rage and betrayal didn’t even cover how she felt.

How could you?

It baffled her, to think of how far these two one time, close friends had fallen. She used to think Vox and Al might have a shot at reconciliation. If the two just talked and sorted things out, maybe they could all be what they’d been…so many decades ago. With every new argument and escalating violence it was seeming more and more impossible. Now as Rosie looked at what Vox had done she knew that reconciliation was not just impossible for Alastor, but it finally had been for her.

How could you?

Tears were quick to drip down, but Rosie swiped them with a desperate palm. This wasn’t what Husk needed right now. He needed someone strong, and someone to keep him calm. “Shh, hunny…don’t try to move, okay?” Hastily, she struggled to see through her tears as she tore off a piece of her dress, attempting to just stop the bleeding.

“I’m sorry…” Her voice shocked off into a sob that she swallowed for his benefit. “I shouldn’t have…let you—stars, I’m so sorry. Just, keep your eyes open. Don’t go to sleep, darling.”

Alright, due to popular request, I bring you the break down of the Taiwan Disease Personifications. Also, just so y’all know, the official explanations for the designs are not easy to find, so a lot of this is just from what I notice and what I know about the diseases

To start off, we have everyone’s favorite disease: COVID-19

So, this is one of the designs where I could actually find the artist explanation, so I will be including that information plus a couple things I noticed and how I think it fits the disease. So let’s start with to crown. The reason for the inclusion of the crown is the reflect the name coronavirus, corona being the Latin word for crown. The face is partially obscured because of COVID’s tendency to hide itself. The bean bag chair that they are sitting on has many protrusions signifying the spike proteins. The different digital devices represent how the world went virtual during the pandemic and the news channels behind them represent the media’s freak out when COVID was at its height. The floor has an outline of the world because everywhere was affected by the pandemic. Also, if you look closely, they are wearing little Covid earrings.

Next up, we got Zika:

I could not find an official artist statement for this design, so take my explanation with a grain of salt. So first off the red waist band reminds me of the red stripe that goes down the abdomen of the mosquito species that spreads Zika after it has fed. Also, the white markings on the black are also a characteristic of this species of mosquito. In fact, the design is the stripes on the chest look like the markings these mosquitoes have on their back. She presents female because it’s the female mosquitoes that bite and spread diseases. Her sleeves look like mosquito wings once again a reference to mosquitoes being the primary vectors of Zika. The area behind her has palm fronds to represent that Zika is a disease typically found in tropical climates.

Next up we have: Hansen’s Disease (aka Leprosy)

This is one where I could find the artist statement due to it being a pretty recent one, however, I will say that at least the translation was a bit lacking in describing the reasoning of every detail. She is a mask maker because leprosy changes how people perceive those who are infected but it is something that can easily be removed with modern antibiotics. She has different accessories like the lion and crocodile headpiece that implicate the divine involvement because leprosy has been historically thought to be a punishment of the gods. The scales on her arm look like an allusion to the scaling pattern scars that those with leprosy would develop.

Next up: Rubella

After a lot of digging I found the official profile for this design but it didn’t really explain the design choices so we are going to do more analysis on my end. So the pomegranate and the red dots represent the red rashes that come with rubella infections. The glasses I assume are to show how Rubella can lead to Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) which can occur in children if their mother had rubella while pregnant. One of the symptoms that comes with CRS is cataracts.

Next up: the plague

I found the explanation on this and it just confirmed my own suspicions for certain design choices. So her design is very focused on death and mysticism because of how the Black Plague led to a lot of cultural focus on these two ideas. Behind her are old coins because of the economic impact the plague had on the civilizations of its time. The references to death are the skeletal pattern on her dress, and the scythe behind her and on her belt. The references to mysticism include the tarot cards she is holding and the crosses on her hat. On the tarot cards are designs referencing the three different forms the plague takes (bubonic, septicemic, and pneumonic) as well as a posey which was used to try to ward of the plague in old times. On her hat is also a collection of plague doctor masks which is pretty self explanatory as to how that connects.

Next up: Ebola

I couldn’t find the official explanation for this disease, so this is mostly speculation based on my analysis. Her outfit is red because of the hemorrhaging that comes with the disease. Specifically he lips are red because one of the more unique characteristics of Ebola is hiccuping up blood. The accessories seem to be inspired by central and western african traditional jewelry. There appear to be tribal masks on the necklace, I am not well versed in African art unfortunately, so any deeper meaning of these accessories are unfortunately lost on me. There are bats on the headdress because of bats being the natural host of Ebola. Her design is rather demonic because Ebola was so terrible for the areas affected, that people thought it could be caused be some great evil. The skulls are because of the extremely high death rate that comes with ebola. The leaves and fruits shown come from the African jungles which is typically where Ebola outbreaks start.

Next up: Novel Influenza A Virus Infections

I actually found the artist explanation for this design! As a disease closely associated with birds, there are many elements linked to birds. There are many bird shadows, the hair that looks like feathers, and the beak shaped mask, feathers on his tie and a feather tattoo on right arm, and the “H-N” pin (H and N proteins of the influenza virus).

Next up: Dengue Fever

Another one with an artist statement! Since only female mosquitoes bite, the character is set as a female. Her dark red lips represent mosquito’s instinct to bite, and she is holding a poisonous thornapple flower. She has mosquito wings tattooed on her back and thornapple flower tattooed on her arm. I have spent a long time looking into how the thornapple flower relates to dengue, but I haven’t had a lot of luck. From what I have seen is that the roots, seeds, and leaves are used in some traditional medicines, including treatments for malaria, but I have not had luck finding how it is connected to Dengue specifically.

Next up: Japanese Encephalitis

I found the artist statement for this disease as well. The disease is visualized into three characters that form a pop group, with their names reflecting the 3 main Culex mosquito species that spread Japanese encephalitis in Taiwan, which are Culex tritaeniorhynchus (Three), Culex annulus (Ring), and Culex fuscocephala (Shiro). They wear black and white, like the colors of the Culex mosquitoes. Red accessories represent their love for blood. I don’t have much to add outside of the artist explanation.

Last one for now is: Rabies

I found the explanation for this one, but it is not descriptive at all, so I am going to be going into every detail because this is Rabies. The spikes on the jacket and pant legs represent the protein spikes rabies uses to infect nerves. The blue jacket and gloves are representing water as one of the unique characteristics of rabies is hydrophobia (physical repulsion to water). The claw marks on the shirt show the animalistic tendencies the virus brings out. The violin players in the animal mask show how the virus can hide in these animals. The personification of rabies is holding a conductor’s wand showing how rabies controls those who are infected. The teeth necklace shows how it spreads through bites and they are standing on the brain because that is what rabies infects. He has a chain with mammal skulls once again tying back to rabies being a fatal mammalian disease. The belt buckle has a bone on it as bone are associated with bones and rabies is associated with dogs.

I'm trying to get the last of my Binderary projects posted, so today we have books #8 and 9, Fault Lines by Marabelle123. This is a long canon compliant Good Omens fic (pre-second season) that I've had on my to-bind list since I started making books three years ago. It's unfinished and had its most recent update in early 2020, but based on how the existing story feels I'm fairly sure it was close to the end and feels complete enough to be satisfying. It's very in character and captures a lot of the specific feeling from the pre-miniseries fandom, that the relationship between the leads defies all definition. They're as close as it's possible to be and their relationship has teeth sometimes but their bond is as undefinable as it is unbreakable. Give it a read if that sounds like your thing; it's excellent.

The cover for this one is made of two colors of faux leather, cut at a diagonal with no overlap, with the title in silver foil htv. I've never done a cover like this before but I'm in love with the result. It feels very sleek and sexy and modern compared to the more vintage elements I usually favor. And I didn't have enough of either leather to do two full books, but I still wanted to use them and have the volumes match. I think it was an elegant solution.

You may have noticed above that this is a Coptic bind, my favorite for unfinished fics because of the "out" option it leaves. If the author ever returns to it and posts more chapters it would be fairly easy to take out the stitching and add more signatures. I still stand by this motivation, but after a silence of four years and no response from the author when I reached out for permission to bind it I'm reasonably sure this is it for the story. That let me try out some stuff I'd be reluctant to do if I was planning to add pages. Have a look at the spines:

Sadly I couldn't make the page count work with a single volume, since you can't do much to mitigate spine swell in a Coptic bind, but the volume split let me do some long stitches in the center that look like wings. There are plot-relevant feathers in the fic, so it's fitting. I thought of sewing one of them in white for that sweet Good Omens balance feeling, but I didn't think it would pop against the white paper and would leave the set looking unbalanced so I stuck with black on both. To get the pattern right I cut out a wing shape the same width as the spine and traced it and poked holes for the outline, then flipped it for the second volume so they'd be mirrored. You can also see that I did something different at the head and tail, more visible here:

This is a Coptic endband. I found out these existed a couple of months ago and absolutely had to try them. They're woven into the signatures and cover with a separate thread, after the rest of the stitching is done, and they're supposed to add some stability to the wiggly spine that you always get with these books. Unlike other types of endband, they don't have a core. I had a lot of trouble with them and had to pull out the first one and redo it with a different thread (embroidery floss is better than crochet thread for this) but I have no regrets about the finished product. They do stabilize the spine some, though not as much as I'd have liked. I really like how they (and the longstitch section) dress up a Coptic spine. I've always thought the plain ones were a little lackluster for how much work they are, but I love all the texture and interest this one has. Would absolutely not do black on black again though. Very hard to keep track of which thread I was supposed to sew under against a black background. I'll be using a contrasting color next time.

Interior photos. The doublure on the inside of the cover is a striped lokta (I think; it's been a while since I bought it). The title page image is a free-to-use image that I found on I think Vecteezy. Unsurprisingly, given its title, a big theme in this one is underlying cracks and misalignments that the characters don't realize are there until there's a massive disturbance, and that's why I had the text on both the title page and the cover not line up. Things are slipping, things are cracking, and there's extra work to be done on both sides if you're going to stabilize or rebuild. Comparatively, the typeset is quite plain and simple, with only two fonts, no chapter header image, and no section break images unless the break falls on the last line of a page, in which case there's one gray line. I think it's well-suited to the story; there is a bit with an illuminated manuscript, but mostly the characters are busy introspecting in between managing crises. They don't have the time or the energy to dress things up prettily.

And that's it on Fault Lines! As I mentioned earlier, I reached out to the author on Ao3 for permission to bind but never received a response, so I really hope they don't mind that I made these. I love their fic, and I love the bind I made.

Oh this is something I'm awfully excited to ask you but I keep on forgetting!! But anyway, if you'll create an alien race based on bugs in dragon ball how would you go about it? Like what would be the most important detail do you think they should have? (I want to ask you about specifics of that race too but I don't want to pressure you on answering since I'm sure that would be long. Just an idea of what an alien bug race can be would be awesome!)

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT QUESTION..... because it makes me think so hard i can't think of anything conclusively :') first up is- would this insect race be one species? one family? one order? or just a mix of all different kinds? there's literally around a million insect species and almost 30 orders that are INCREDIBLY diverse in form. i don't want to paste every single example here but here's just the silhouettes to give you an idea!!

but also i could just. make up a new bug entirely?? 😳 like just smash together my favorite characteristics from across the insect world... what sounds good to me atm is cool wings (i like plain membranous more than the scaly wings of butterflies/moths, you can get cool patterns with them too), the general horse shape of a mantis/snakefly and sound producing organs (insects make noises in different ways! crickets stridulate by rubbing their wings together, cicadas expand/contract their tymbals, hissing roaches compress air through their spiracles). i like the idea of insects singing to communicate, it's pretty much only to attract mates or scare predators but i think it's a generally romantic idea :'3 i also think it's cool to consider aspects of physiology, like insects have an open circulatory system (their organs are bathed in hemolymph instead of supplied by vessels), they have a more decentralized nervous system (can still get around despite lots of their body missing), they can overwinter, among other things. oh i think i'd also like them to be holometabolous (larva>pupa>adult rather than a nymph that gradually sheds into its adult form) because i want to see proud parents holding their cute little worm babies :3c

in terms of dragon ball i can say what i won't do- toriyama i'm making a callout post on tumblr dot com- there are insects other than cicadas (although i LOVE cicadas) but i am tired of these things

it is a real structure found among the true bugs (order hemiptera, includes aphids, leafhoppers, cicadas, etc.) called a cibarium which basically houses the big muscles the herbivorous members use to suck up plant juices. SUCK, you say?? yeah these things don't have chewing mouthparts so shut your weird beak mouth, cell. you're supposed to be sucking up people with that instead. their mouths have been modified into straw things called a rostrum which you can barely see under the cibarium of that cicada. if i had to make an alien race based off these kinds of bugs, their mouths would remain rostra and i'd definitely have them communicate through sound production only. that would be hella cool.

(also while we're on the cell callout train, cell's wings are based off the shell of a beetle which are technically called elytra but THERE'S ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE MEMBRANOUS NORMAL WINGS UNDERNEATH! insects typically have two pairs of wings and the shell of a beetle is just the hardened first pair.)

Even separated by time and space, Emmet and Ingo somehow manage to match each other in more ways than just their appearances. It's entirely accidental... Until half a year after Ingo's disappearance when they realize that they can see each other in mirrors. From then on, they are a lot more hopeful about their futures. Nimbasa City, however, is not hopeful as the Subway Boss speedruns a transformation from a poor little meow meow to a full blown cryptid.

Prophet and Heretic AU:

Before he can join the Pearl Clan, Ingo goes to the rift on Mount Coronet for answers. Palkia and Dialga are too busy throwing hands to hear. Arceus does, though, and oh geez he should have thought things through before appearing before a mortal. By the time Ingo recovers from his holy fainting spell, he has all his memories back, spooky god powers, and a new headmate. At least Arceus promised to return him home in return for completing some quest to save the world...

Centuries in the future, a very lonely and remorseful Giratina approaches Emmet with a deal.

Paper Lantern AU:

When Ingo gets torn from his own time, he gets torn from his body as well. With nothing but his human soul, he possesses a paper lantern and invents a regional variant of Chandelure. His ace would be so proud. Meanwhile, Emmet is left with Ingo's alive but verrry much comatose body.

Ditto Emmet AU:

I just wanted to hit one of the boys with a shape shifter beam and Emmet is my favorite. A lot fun shape shifter things here. Like family fluff and body horror! And also Emmet copying the incarnation of time itself, hehehe-

Ghost Train AU (Danny Phantom Crossover):

The Distortion World is really just the Pokemon world's name for their version of the Ghost Zone. Ingo and Dawn get eaten up by a couple of natural portals, and two newly formed halfas arrive in Hisui a year apart. Arceus won't touch ghost child Akari with a ten-foot pole, but it all works out in the end anyways because Akari can't not help the nobles, and the Distortion World/Ghost Zone is a great medium for traversing time and space.

Submas Fusion AU:

Ingo and Emmet went to hisui together, but the distortion world said they can't have nice things. A man with no idea who or what he is woke up in a black and white coat in the coronet highlands, with only a handful of Joltik to protect him. He couldn't remember his name, but E and I came to mind. So, he guesses his name is Ei now...

Gear Session:

Homestuck au!

Arceus found a copy of Sburb in the Pokemon world and thought "that's not good" and sent the Nimbasa trio plus Akari on a mission to destroy the incipisphere from the inside out. No reckoning destroying the earth or frog breeding here, but there is a lot of temporary death. You know. Prototyping dream selves and questbeds and all that.

Fluff and Scales AU:

Hybrid au, but Ingo and Emmet are legendary hybrids.

Ingo and Emmet were born with black and white dragon wings. No one recognized them, so it was chalked up to a couple undiscovered species of pokemon and life continued as normal. But Drayden always suspected there was something more to them than that.

His suspicions were confirmed during the Team Plasma invasion, after which everyone and their mother knew what the dragons of legend looked like. And anyone who had ever been to Nimbasa could recognize the white fluff and black scales.

Also featuring Arceus hybrid Jackie and Absol hybrid Beni.

Tron AU:

Ingo got eebied to the grid instead of Hisui! He runs around the computer systems of Unova for about a month thinking he's a program, until he finds Gear station. The train autopilot programs, called ATOs, help their poor amnesiac User remember who he is, while someone unexpected brings Emmet into the digital world to help.

Thrice is a Pattern:

There were three skyfallers in Hisui. The first was an accident. The second was a failed rescue attempt. The third was the one who saved them all. Trainer Dawn never makes it back home after entering the distortion world, ending up in Hisui instead. Ingo is sent to the past to make it right, but he forgets his mission before he can even start. It's up to Lucas, now.

Kabaneri au:

Crossover with Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress! Instead of frenzies, Giratina unleashes a corruption on Hisui that turns people and pokemon into mindless zombies called Kabane. Arceus sends Dawn to cleanse the region, and promises she will be immune to the curse. He fails to mention that to do so, he will have to take away her humanity first.

Hey, been having a pretty rough start to the week, and really, a rough several weeks. Lots going on, lots of dread about the world, honestly just wanna go back to bed. But we're trying to look on the bright side and appreciate the little things. So I'm gonna list some good things that have happened recently and that are coming up so we can psych ourselves up. I find that putting something down on paper or in a place where I can see it makes it easier to embrace and appreciate, makes it more visual.

-Someone left a really sweet comment in the tags of my Gooliope custom. I've noticed a lot of people liking that post, and I love all the kind words in the tags so much. Thank you! She's one of my favorite dolls, and it makes me happy that she sparks joy for more than just me.

-I got to see my middle sister for her spring break. She just left to head back to school, but the time she was here was great. We celebrated my mom's birthday with a lot of great food and laughter, and there were many late night conversations that were fun. It was nice to reconnect.

-I got to play Animal Crossing for the first time and found that I love the fishing in it! It's a really fun game and I want to get back to it soon. I also found the Sanrio Amiibo cards for cheap, and I'm eager to see how they function once I'm a bit farther in.

-I'm slated to go to a convention soon! I can't wait to put my cosplays back on and go to panels. Two really awesome voice actors are going to be there, and I'm gonna try and work up the courage to take photos with other cosplayers. I'm especially excited to see the cosplay performers, I missed that last year but won't be this time!

-Another Splatfest is coming up! I can't wait to play more of Tricolor battles, they're such a good time. Thinking of playing on Team Nessie, but we'll see, depends on what my teammates think. I'm not a competitive player, I just have a group of four that enjoys playing together.

-It's my birthday next week (and also international mermaid day)! I'm not sure how I'm gonna celebrate just yet, but I do want to celebrate. I may ask my mom if we can go out to Goodwill or something during the day, I've wanted to check it out for a long time. I have friends who are streaming that night that I'd like to watch, but I'd also like to make some time for my annual birthday stream that week. Birthdays tend to be a time where you talk to a lot of people who haven't checked in in a while, and while I can get a little overstimulated, I do love having a portion of the night where I get to see a bunch of my friends for some drawing or other art. It's the one time of year where I like being the center of attention, it means getting to decide what I want to do and getting to do it together with the people I love. <3

-My persona doll is closer to done! She has a face, she has hair, she has shoe options that I can paint, she just needs clothes and wings (she's a fairy, and I'm debating how I wanna do them). I have some new clothing patterns that I'm excited to try out for her too. It's so cool to finally have a doll that feels closer to me. I loved drawing a face on G3 Draculaura.

-Dollightful released a new video showing off some of the face sculpts for G3 Monster High dolls, and I'm really excited about that! It got me wanting to customize more of G3, namely Lagoona, I have a great idea for a Shiny Vaporeon doll for her, but we'll have to see if it sticks. It also got me going on collecting resources for customizing G3 dolls, I have a post in my drafts that I wanna share soon that may help other doll customizers out.

-I got to design a character that I absolutely love, and brainstorming about it with my friends has been really fun. It's really pushing me to try more with hair. Been feeling really grateful for my friends in general, both those I talk to daily and the ones I haven't seen in a while. You're all wonderful and I'm so fortunate to have you in my life. <3

-Actually, I'm having a lot of fun all around! I got a great new idea for an AU where Henry is a guardian angel type character to Joey and gets stripped of his powers, so now Susie is watching over him and the studio with a cartoon Alice to show her the ropes, and it's SO FUN! I may have to bring that to my Bendy blog at some point. I'm brimming with ideas and gosh I wish I had more time to do art and audio for it, I'd love to voice some skits with Susie and Alice talking to each other.

-Mario Day passed and I finally got my hands on Bowser's Amiibo (thank you little sister for helping me out). I haven't collected Amiibo in a long time, but the siblings and I used to, and this is one we missed. I look forward to training him in Smash Bros. It'd be fun to pit him against Leg Day (Wii Fit Trainer) and Knave (Sonic).

-Been having a lot of fun at the Streamily Livestreams with the Bendy voice cast, lots of really funny fandom memes have come out of those and it's great. They never fail to make me smile. Been having a lot of fun at the ShazzandBoo Pokemon Livestreams too, what an absolute treat those have been!

Yeah, maybe life isn't so bad. There are a lot of things stressing me out, but there's so much to look forward to and enjoy, and those are the moments I'm gonna live for. Life is too short to let it keep you down, so we're gonna do our best and make it through!

*i can imagine him on his knees wearing a straw hat and pink paisley patterned gloves planting a new row of poppies*

*vegetable garden? pssh. he can grow butternut squash and eggplant in his sleep*

*the party have been the main recipients of the vegetables ever since he found dustin’s snack stash and nearly had a heart attack from all of the sugar and salt*

*at first it annoyed them but now they look forward to the brown paper bags full of produce every Friday*

*mans is all natural. he makes his own mulch with the pine needles in the woods*

*back to the flower stuff*

*all of the neighborhood moms and grandmas are jealous of his roses*

*the attempts to find out his secrets have ranged from bribing with baked goods to outright spying on him over the backyard fence*

*they’ll never know*

*they get cut periodically and the ladies all wonder if steve is finally seeing someone*

*nope. they’re for robin after she gets done playing at a game or a competition*

Eddie:

*he’s made multiple attempts at planting a garden*

*it goes wrong for one reason or another*

*the soil is too rocky. he forgot to water them for long stretches at a time. he pulls up the small shoots thinking that they’re weeds*

*he even tried planting weed once. the red and blue lights convinced him not to try again*

*the hellfire club gave him the nickname “plant murderer.” he accepted it and is interchangeable with “dungeon master” during meetings”

*then he heard lucas mention these unkillable potted plants and was intrigued*

*he may or may not have gotten five snake plants*

*his teachers notice that he seems more alert*

*he gets his latest paper back, a red B circled in the upper right corner. he’s shocked, happy, and very confused*

*he drags mike and dustin to the library with him to find out more about snake plants. turns out they release oxygen like a mother*

*those plants are now his babies. he makes a watering schedule and everything*

*dustin relays this to steve. steve takes eddie under his wing*

*great more time with harrington like you’re complaining you hobbit*

Eleven (and the Byers):

*i think eleven would like having a wild garden*

*hopper and joyce take eleven to the hawkins nursery and pick out polinators*

*she likes watching the bees and the butterflies fly from flower to flower. its fascinating to her*

*like eddie, she makes a watering schedule. well, with joyce’s help*

*the hopper cabin soon becomes a hot bed of animal activity. flying insects in the plants, birds grazing from the feeder, hedgehogs going in and out of the homemade burrow, squirrels taking drinks from the man-made pond*

*it’s basically a woods version of eden*

*everyone takes turns tending to the garden. will, jonathan, el, hopper, joyce, and surpisingly argyle alternate making bird seed and weeding the flower beds

*only after hopper made argyle promise not to smoke weed on his property ever again*

*the wooden bee hive is eleven’s favorite spot. sometimes will joins her when they both need to calm down*

*she definitely wants to be a beekeeper*

*she makes flower crowns with the cosmos and daisies

*she made one for joyce once and hopper saw her wearing it. let’s just say it gave him ideas*

Did I make yet another new fursona? Of course I did X) I didn't really know what to call this creature, I just borrowed the word "alicorn" from my little pony, because it was easier than saying "single horn winged cat" .. with a lion tail XD So I'm just calling it an alicorn eclipse kitty X) cuz it's vaguely catlike, features a singular horn on its forehead, and a pair of floaty wings. Calling it an alicorn probably doesn't make sense, cuz that refers to a creature that's both a unicorn and a pegasus XD and this is different cuz it's a cat X) BUT I'M DOING IT ANYWAY ✨ Because I didn't know what else to call it X)

I also baked some personal symbolisms into this design uwu The black, white, grey, different symbols for the paw pads, the sun and the moon, eclipse symbol on the belly, all sort of are references to the importance of balance in a summarized nutshell X) the four card symbols on the paw pads are also references to the four elements, which can be used to✨ Make Stuff ✨ (sorta XD) which is mostly just an extra roundabout way of saying I like art X) In a way the light/dark themes are also related to art, because you need both of those to be able to see anything else. The brown is there pretty much just cuz my actual hair color is brown XD and I also thought it looked neat with the silvery grey X) it's also a neutral color though uwu which is relevant because it's like, aside from grey, one of the most "in between" colors ever ✨w✨ and that's relevant because balance X) woo

I was tempted to give them devil horns to pair with the almost angelic wings X) but I thought the unicorn horn looked cuter XD so there isn't really any fancy symbolism behind that X) I just wanted one (though it also references one of my favorite pokemon, Dragonair)

OH, I also put the "club" symbol on the left hand cuz I'm left handed X) this is relevant because in tarot, the club symbol is the same as the "wands" which has to do with fire and creation uwu I'm also a fire sign, and creative hobbies is my passion X) The creativity metaphorically shooting out my finger tips. Boom, pow, art X)

This was a kinda rambly post XD but I don't know if I've ever really broken down the silly symbolisms I usually repeat in the designs of my own personal fursonas before here X) I'd been making new fursonas over and over again, sort of trying out new things and experimenting with different symbolisms and designs until I found the pattern I felt suited me the most X) Through trial and error I think I've made a design I'm satisfied with, finally XD It's taken me a good while though X)

Anyway ^^ Here's my silly fursona X) I also included some little doodles in funny colors because I CAN uwu doing those reminded me of those funny little rainbow scratch papers I used to get all the time, but with the power of art program, I can now do these... Whenever I want ✨w✨ be prepared for rainbows 🌈

Was listening to Zomboy tonight after many years of missing out on his new stuff. I listened to his music from his Game Time, Nuclear (Hands Up), and Mind Control eras. But fell off listening as my music tastes shifted toward more future bass and vaporwave (still favorite genres).

I found a playlist on Musi of his "top" hits and noticed I havent heard of (and maybe even cant remember) half of them. So even tho was searching for a more nostalgic and familar sound, I enjoyed hearing his style in his older music, which, to me, is all new. C o o l!!! Some songs I found nice were Bad Intentions and Lights Out.

However dandy this trip down memory lane was, when I got to Terror Squad in this playlist, I was weirded out by how much it sounded like a Skrillex song I knew (sometimes the titles of songs escape me lol). It was itching my brain so bad that I had to go to the internet to see which one cameout F I R S T, since i knew beyond a resonable doubt they had to be inspired by each other or something lol.

I found this Genious article about it and this relieved me a lot.

"Yea thats exactly the song!" <- the gist of how I felt knowing they sounded analogous to S O M E B O D Y else lol.

This part suprised me tho . . .

Youve think theyd have beef since their songs were so similar and apparently released the same yr ? ? (Tho I was suprised to see Skrillex's "version" came out first lol). But despite the fans' reactions, they were both cool about it all, and Zomboy himself needed to clear up confusion publically.

I was too young and disinterested in artist profiles at the age I was curating (and settling) my tastes for Zomboy's jams, so this was all lost on me. Perhaps for the better lol. I was occupied in 2013 with Skrillex's debut album and how . . . different it was, let alone him coming out from radio silent hiatus tbat felt like years lol.

Very cool music history stuff. Anyway I do like how similar they are now thats its clear to me the songs' eerie similarities were apparently coincidences (or not idk. Lol I didnt look t h a t deeply into it all). I enjoy remixes a lot for their creative spins on rhythmic motifs, so Zomboy's version, for me, is like hearing a remix of Skrillex's mix. It scratches my brain just right with the irony of how its a completely new song for me yet its terribly nostalgic bc of how much it sounds like All Is Fair Love . . .

I prefer All Is Fair Love because I like the more complex rhythm's in it and also bc its just the one I heard first l o l, so it's grown on me. But def a nice duo of songs. Theyre like butterfly wings. Very similar on both sides in form and color, but not quite exactly the same. Or better yet, like a butterfly's wing where the inside is one color, and the outside a different one; the shape of the wing is the same but the forms of the patterns are different. Idk l o l.

What a coincidence, indeed!!!!

Mindful Creativity Week 14: Get Outside

From the way light falls on a tree trunk to the intricate patterns of a butterfly's wings, there's no shortage of beauty and wonder to be found when we step outside our front doors! Spend some time outside this week to observe the world around you… You might find more inspiration than you know what to do with!

ACTION STEP 👉 Bring the paint to the patio! Whether you set up a canvas en plein air or you redecorate your porch, a little fresh air can totally re-energize your creative instincts! If you’re on Pinterest a lot like I am (follow me!) then you know that porch decor and painted patios are everywhere. Folks are starting to realize that the spaces we create outside of our homes are just as important as the spaces we create inside!

Mindful Creativity Week 12: Break the mold!

I remember the first time that I painted a piece of furniture that truly took my breath away. It was when I stopped trying to paint pieces that I thought other people would like and started painting things that got me excited! I took myself from one or two or three colors to six or seven or eight. I blended, I added layers, I added texture.

And then I added water.

And the paint started to drip.

And I knew that I was onto something.

Because breaking that mold and doing something I’d never seen before made my heart soar and it caught some attention.

ACTION STEP This week, your job is to break the mold and do something you’ve never seen done before. In honor of March Mixed Media Mayhem (this month’s challenge in my Creative Connection group!), your action step this week is to 👉 combine three (or more) of your favorite things into one creative work. Maybe you like embroidery, painting, and sunsets. How could you put those three things together into one piece of art? What would that look like?

Allow yourself to imagine the possibilities and see where it takes you.

Mindful Creativity Week 11: Get Outside Your Bubble

The Adventure volume (print copies on sale now!) of The Turquoise Iris Journal left me with one very important takeaway that can be summed up by a quote from Max de Pree:

📝📚 “We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are.”

Despite how comfortable it is in the comfort zone, I am rewarded by an abundance of blessings every time I step outside my bubble and meet new people. No matter where I go or who I meet, I am left feeling better for it! Just last week I picked up a new settee…

…And found out that the seller works in publishing!!! And I happened to have a copy of The Turquoise Iris Journal to share with her!!! She was over-the-moon excited to see a creative Journal produced by someone in OKC just like her. All it took was a little bravery and a willingness to start a conversation and I managed to create a powerful connection with a total stranger.

Maybe it’s a coincidence… or maybe it’s a reminder that being open to new experiences and new people will enrich our lives.

ACTION STEP 👉 Make some new friends. It’s incredible what a fresh perspective can do for our hearts, minds, and creativity! This week, your challenge is to connect with a new person or group. Take a class with a teacher you’ve never met, visit a shop in your city that you’ve never visited, or find a group of beginners to join and pick up a new hobby. Be intentional about connecting with other people in a meaningful way…

I think you’ll be surprised how much it improves your week and inspires you!

The Fantastic Voyage to Butterfly Creek.

Sometimes the best kind of prize you get is a surprise and there’s no better surprise than a surprise trip, our adventure loving duo of Corey and Oats were listening to music together when Mel came in, Mel was excited to announce that they were going on an adventure, Corey was curious about what kind of adventure the two were going to go on this time. ‘So Mel..what adventure are we going on?’ ‘I bet it’s a fantasy adventure.’ ‘Oh there will be fantasy creatures alright.’ ‘Are we going to fight monsters?’ ‘I bet we’re going to a happy pony farm where we can all play and neigh and be so happy.’

“Oh Oatsie, you’re always happy.”

“I know that but wouldn’t it be great if we did go to a pony farm?”

“Maybe we will.”

‘There will be lots to see and do there, don’t worry, I won’t give away the surprise.’ Mel giggled as she instructed the duo to follow her, Oats hopped inside her special bag as Corey and Peter Weta traveled together and the two of them stepped inside a flying van, which took them all over Auckland and over to the airport. ‘Say..where are we going anyway?’ ‘Are there mythical creatures?’ ‘It’s a secret.’ ‘Ah, gotcha…it’s a secret.’ Corey winked as he whispered the secret to Oatsie, Oatsie whinnied happily as he heard the news. It took a long search but eventually once they get to the location, the covid microbe excitedly noticed something that was extra special.

“Hey…I saw a dinosaur.”

“Dinosaurs? Cool. Let’s hope it’s not a purple one.”

“Yeah…that hippy dippy I love you, you love me stuff gives me the willies.”

The group stepped out of the van with Mel and decided to look around. ‘Tada!’ ‘Hey…I know this place, this place is advertised a lot on the radio. Yeah, it’s that place with the dinos, and the mythical creatures, and the butterflies, and the cute farm animals and the train…Butterfly Creek!’ ‘Very good, you certainly know the place.’ The group explored the entrance and entered the gift store before going into the entrance.

"Fish, let’s go and see the fish."

When they arrived at the entrance they were given special bands to wear which served as part of their pass, they walked inside the very first area and were delighted when they saw all the species of fishes swimming around, the room they were in filled up with water as Oatsie found himself developing half seahorse traits an he swam around with the fishes, while Corey and Peter took on aquatic forms and swam together. Oatsie was showing off his water ballet moves and being graceful…after that the group headed into the home of the insects before returning to normal and then developing butterfly wings as they floated around into the butterfly house. Within the butterfly house, Oats’s gown changed into a flowing one with a butterfly pattern on it as his mane took on a elegant style.

A pink and blue butterfly landed on Oatsie’s nose as he whinnied happily and flyed along with the butterflies, they returned to normal for a few seconds before heading out and exiting it and entering the New Zealand animals exhibit where they got to meet Peter Weta’s extended family, and they took on special nocturnal forms as they explored the Kiwi forest area. They kept very quiet to listen out for the kiwi-bird.

A brown kiwi bird ran across the floor of her exhibit as Corey watched and all, and upon leaving the kiwi exhibit they found themselves in the realms of the otters and the alligators, luckily the crocs and alligators were nice and didn’t harm our favorite duo. Which was followed by them taking on various forms that suited the environment, and after that they entered Dinosaur Kingdom, and saw the dinosaurs. ‘It’s just like Jurassic Park.’ ‘Yeah…I can so imagine Jeff Goldblum telling us about chaos theory here.’

“Is that the same t-rex that got killed by Baldrick’s underwear?”

“No..I don’t think so.”

The duo posed near statues of dinosaurs hatching out of their eggs as they played around, after that they entered the mythical creatures area. Oats was so delighted to see the unicorns and galloped over to them, he was excited to see them. ‘Oh my Celestia, you guys are soooooooooooooooo pretty. I wish I was as beautiful as you.’ ‘You don’t need to be like them to be lovely, Oatsie, because you already ARE lovely.’

“I know but the unicorns are so elegant and pretty.”

“You like them, huh Oatsie?”

“Neigh…yes.”

‘You unicorns are soooooooooooooooo pretty. Greetings fellow pretty equines, I am Oatsie and I am also pretty.’ He whinnied as he galloped around, examining the mythical species like the dragons, the aliens, Bigfoot and even fairies and mermaids. Corey looked over at the alien and excitedly screamed…’Yessss…I KNEW aliens were real and Dan Aykroyd wasn’t making stuff up, well of course I already did know that.’ Oatsie grew fairy wings and a unicorn horn as he galloped with the unicorns and changed genders, becoming a beautiful pony princess. ‘Would you like to be part of our unicorn family, Princess Oatsie?’ ‘Oh yes…I would, but I would hate to leave my friend Corey behind.’

“I understand.”

Corey, Oatsie and Peter Weta left the mythical creatures area and went out, entering a train station. A special magical train stopped over and the group hopped on board, giving the conductor their tickets as they went on a train ride through the park, seeing everything there is to see. After the train ride finished, the group jumped off and headed to Buttermilk Farm to play with the cute farm animals. After playing with the farm animals, they all met up with Mel at the cafe and decided to have a chat.
