#I don't know how Danny would be dead if he still comes to school. It's probably summer break and he's away. Sorry.

False Corpse and Supposed Defilings of a Collegue and Child
So, we all love misunderstandings and miscommunication. Obviously. So, Danny's ghost form is very much frozen at 14, and he is working with the Justice League on the basis of Ghostly MattersTM. He was able to make a duplicate of himself for class because he had to help the League with a very important matter with guidance from Vlad, but it was very much rushed and just outright died at the end after it got back.
So Vlad has to bury it, but someone sees him doing that. Anyone, really. Dash, Lancer, Val, someone not in the know. And Danny isn't seen for a while. The League do not think Danny is an immortal God, and "know" he's a dead trans boy from Illinois who wants to save people.
He makes offhand remarks about Vlad, and even if the two of them are on good terms now Vlad's actions seem outright despicable without context. Danny's used to Vlad's ridiculousness so he doesn't see him in that light and can't really conceptualize that it could even be considered.
"You know how it was, obsessed with me and my mom, despised my dad. Said I took after her."
"Oh you know, he made a daughter with me, not that I had a choice in it. I love her with all my heart, though."
"Yeah, he was a real fruitloop. Ranting about I would be his and all that."
This is very much concerning so the League, so they investigate, and the person who saw lets it slip. They also do spot Ellie, and she just chats with Danny's work friends she heard so much about. Doesn't outright say she talks with Danny still, or she knows him presently. Says how much she loves her papa, and hasn't seen her dad in forever. (A collective wince from the JL since, well, said dad is dead.) Mentions how Vlad's a bit stressed, probably from DalvCO contracts. They also see Vlad acting so goody goody with the Fentons, take that as you will.

Tiny ideas 2
----
1. Danny, in his new and very human black and white vigilante outfit runs past Penguin who had gotten soaked when a car full of hooligans wearing clown masks ran threw a puddle and splashed him.
Danny, not knowing who this was, tapped him on the shoulder as he ran past, running his intangibility through the man and letting the water fall off him, leaving him nice and dry again.
Penguin makes note to pay both back in very different ways.
----
2. Phantom, having been exorcisized from Amity Park and essentially banished and unable to return, roams around the multiverse looking for something to do.
Upon coming across the creepiest doll hes ever seen in a trash bin, he decides to mess with some local bat themed vigilantes and possesses the doll.
His first victim is Red Robin. Danny in all his creepy doll glory toddles out from behind a chimney as his target is running across the rooftop in his direction. Birdy stopped dead (heh) and stared at the doll.
Danny picked good. The doll was porcelain and cracked, missing one of its glass eyes and moss growing out of the empty socket and around various parts of its body. Its dress was once a lovely blue or green velvet but was now patchy and worn.
He turned the dolls head around at an unnatural angle to fix its gaze on the vigilante, its frozen polite smile adding to its eerieness, and in a moment of impulse said, "I'll see you soon." In the most creepiest little girl voice he could manage, using his ghost powers to make the words seem to drift upon the air towards the hero.
And just like that, doll Danny was gone.
RR almost frantically contacted oracle, "Did you see that?!"
"RR your signal cut out for a few minutes, backup should arrive soon. What happened?"
-----
3. Jason has been getting followed around by this wierd kid who is prime Brucie adoption bait. Kid kept jumping out of nowhere without anyone being able to sense him to ask him the weirdest questions (Damian was so startled that he nearly stabbed the kid on reflex. Not that he'd ever admit it).
The questions where things like, "Do you like books? What are your favorites? Can you cook? Do you like red heads? Do you like dogs? How opposed are you to having supervillian in-laws? What if they give you free experimental weaponry? ....how about some laser cannons and a jet?
Jason ends up getting kidnapped by this kid and dumped in from of this pretty girl as the kid tells her, "I went out and got you a boyfriend who won't try to murder you. Don't screw this up!" Before the kid ran out of the room.
Jazz was mortified.
Jason is still on the floor where he was deposited earlier, "So..." he begins, "I heard you like Jane Austin?"
-----
4. Phantom faked his death in front of the people of Amity Park, just to see how they would react to his passing and kind of in hopes of something changing. He couldn't keep sacrificing everything for these people, after all.
He did not like how the people reacted. Danny had to move away cause if he heard one more person say it was a good thing "that monster" died hes going to hurt someone.
Gotham seemed lovely this time of year and its one place that neither his parents or Vlad would visit. Vlad because if he tried anything at all the worlds greatest detective would ruin him and his parents because they once tried to hunt Batman and Robin only for Batman to terrify them to the point of never returning after they hurt his bird.
Danny got hired at Wayne Tech after submitting a wide range of devices but couldn't do much thanks to still being a minor. Thankfully Mr. Wayne was very generous and kept him housed and fed while he finished his online schooling and graduated early.
(Heavy angst for Danny.)
---
5. Danny hadn't seen Cujo in a while, which wasn't too unusual, but it have been a long time since hed seen his puppy and he was overdue a visit.
Danny pulled out his dog whistle, one normally used for emergencies and that Cujo would never ever ignore.
Only...Cujo didn't come. Now Danny goes on a journey to track down his missing dog. Following clues and trails across different realities, dimensions and universes to find his lost dog.
He did not expect to meet a bird themed vigilante along the way, not for them to insist he help him on his quest. Robin seemed very wary of the Infinite Realms the first time he entered them and had tons of questions. But bird boy was great company and Cujo would love him so Danny could deal.

A small sample of the DC x DP fic I'm working on. It's a Damian/Danny (Dead Serious) fic
Danny wonders why these things always happen to him. This was just supposed to be an end-of-year trip to Gotham. One week he didn't have to fight ghouls or deal with Vlad's fruitloopiness. The universe hated him. At least that's the only conclusion that makes sense.
It started at one of Gotham's museums. Everything was great. They were looking at old stuff and he was joking around with Tucker and Sam. Then his ghost sense went off because of course.
It wasn't a surprise to see a few ghosts come in and start wreaking havoc. How did they know where to find him? He quickly got his answer when he saw Vlad. Vlad grabbed a random kid and fled. Sam and Tucker reassured him they got the other ghost to go after Vlad.
Damian was ready to body slam this vampire-looking man. Who the hell was he and where did he come from? The man turned them both intangible, going through several walls before ending up in a mostly empty room. The man tied up his wrist and ankles but left him otherwise unrestrained. Damian was able to press the call button on his watch.
"Hey vampire, you're a long ways away from Transylvania." Damian snarked.
"I'm not a vampire you insolent brat."
Damian rolled his eyes, "Then maybe you shouldn't dress like one."
Vlad went to retort but was tackled by Danny flying through the wall. Damian would have been surprised if weird shit didn't happen to him on the daily but still he had to put on a performance.
Damian looked at the fighting pair deadpan, "oh wow gee looks like I'm in quite a jam."
By the time Vlad was sucked into the phantom thermos Damian had already freed himself. Danny looked at the kid bewildered.
"You know staring is rude."
Danny scoffed, "I wasn't staring. Who the hell are you? What did Vlad want with you?"
"I have no clue. You came in before his villainous monologue," Damian paused before snickering, "is his name really Vlad? Like Vlad the Impaler, the original Dracula."
Danny can't believe he hadn't made that connection himself. He couldn't help but laugh. Damian raised a brow.
When Danny calmed he looked at the kid, "So kid are you hurt?"
"I would think that's the first thing you would have checked for. I could have bled to death while you went hysterical."
"Since when did twelve-year-olds get so snarky."
"I'm not twelve! I'm sixteen!"
"But you're so small."
"You are only a few inches taller than me. I'm also still tall enough to kick your ass. Who are you anyway? Batman doesn't like metas in his city."
"A what now?"
"A meta," a big man stepped out from the darkness, "You okay Damian?"
"Yeah, hood. Is it just you?"
"For now, yes," Red Hood looked at Danny, "who are you kid and why are you in Gotham."
"I'm Phantom and I'm supposed to be on a school trip but one of my arch nemesis found me but I stopped him so I should get going."
"I should go back to Hood. I'm fine and I'm sure the ghost boy would be willing to bring me back."
"Uh yeah sure let's go." Danny flew off.
Red Hood lowered himself and whispered, "keep an eye on him. If you have a tracker, use it."
"I'm not an idiot. I was already planning on it."
Danny flew back into the room, "you coming?"
"Are you gonna walk 'cause I certainly can't fly or phase through walls."
"Oh yeah. Let me just, " Danny scooped Damian up in a bridal style, "there we go. You ready now?"
Red Hood snickered as Damian turned red, squawking at the poor kid holding him.
"Put me down! Don't manhandle me!"
"Sorry but this is the quickest way."
Danny rushed off. Damian scowled like an angry cat. Danny chuckled, causing the other to start another rant full of foul language. Finally, Danny landed. Sam and Tucker were there waiting.
Sam gave him a confused expression, "Why are you carrying the youngest Wayne."
"Who?"
"Me dumbass! Put me down!" Damian squirmed.
Danny set him down. Damian adjusted his expensive uniform muttering. Sam grabbed Danny by the ear and pulled him aside.
She whispered," What are you doing carrying the Wayne kid."
"Vlad had him. Plus I still don't know who Wayne is."
"Wayne as in Bruce Wayne, " Sam pinched the bridge of her nose as Danny stared at her blankly, "Wayne as in Wayne Tech Industries."
"Oh… ohhhh. So maybe Vlad had him for some rich guy reason."
"We should keep an eye on him. He is just some pampered rich kid."
Danny nodded and went back over. He was surprised to see the kid was still there. He shuffled uncomfortably, unsure what to do from here. What he didn't see coming was the quick peck to his cheek followed by a growled thank you. Moments later the kid was gone.
Tucker grinned, "look at you, Danny. You just get all the rich babes don't you?"
"It was just a hero kiss," Sam waved her hand in front of Danny's face, "you still there."
"Yeah yeah just wasn't expecting that."
"Go change and catch up with the class."
"Good idea."
That night Danny patrolled the city. Gotham was a whole different beast at night. It was still busy, the lights were bright and the people were completely unfazed. He decided to take a break in the park. Not even five minutes he was being dragged by a vine. Now he was upside down face to face with a pretty green skin lady.
"Whatcha got there?" The blonde lady next to her asked.
"I think this is the mystery meta that Red Hood was talking about."
"He's a cutie ain't he? What do you think we should do with him?"
"Interrogate. Why are you flying around our city?"
Danny gulped, "just making sure none of the ghosts from the attack earlier weren't causing more chaos."
"Responsible young man aren't ya."
"Look I don't want no trouble I have enough of that —"
"Ivy put him down," A boy came down from the tree tops dressed in a costume, "he hasn't done anything wrong yet."
Ivy hesitated but she dropped him. Danny landed with an oof.
"You spooky kid come here."
Danny hesitated but went over. The kid narrowed his eyes and clicked his tongue.
"Of course it's you. I heard about you," Damian walked over to Ivy, "I will deal with this," he gestures to Danny before putting his hands on his hips, "Isn't tonight date night?"
Harley smiles, "it sure is. Let's go Ives I think we can still make our dinner reservations."
Ivy grabbed Harley's hand, " be careful kiddo." She and Harley left the two vigilantes.
Damian went back over to Danny who just looked confused. So much happened in the past few minutes and he wasn't able to process it.
"You kid, what the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Uh patrolling."
"Gotham already has its team of heroes. We don't need you stirring the pot."
"I'm trying to help. I don't think Gotham's heroes know how to deal with ghosts."
"You don't know anything about Gotham."
"You know you're right. How do I know you're not a villain?"
"Because you would be in big trouble already. You're lucky those two are reformed."
"I guess you're part of Batman's crew although you're pretty short. I'm surprised the big bad Batman lets you out past curfew." Danny smirked.
Damian growled, "you better watch it, ghost boy."
"Oo did I strike a nerve."
Damian scowled and swung. Danny faked a yawn and went intangible. Damian ended up stumbling. He was quickly getting irritated. Damian tries to land a few more hits.
Danny laughed and pinched Damian's cheek, "so cute."
"I'm not cute. I'm gonna figure out what exactly you are and then I'm gonna kick your ass."
Before he could get another word in his ghost sense went off. It was the box ghost being annoying as fuck. Danny rolled his eyes before swiftly kicking his ass. Damian watched amused. Once the box ghost was away Danny was again at Damian's side.
"I didn't recognize that villain but you did adequately I guess."
"That's 'cause he is one of mine. He's a ghost."
"So you're both ghosts. Did you," Damian paused, "did you die?"
"Yeah, kinda I guess. I never thought about it that way."
"That is never easy."
"You say that like you have experienced dying."
Damian stayed quiet. Danny looked at him and was shocked. This boy had experienced death; his silence was answer enough. A million questions ran through his head but he shook his thoughts away and just hugged Damian.
"I don't know how that is possible but I'm not gonna question it."
Damian tense. It was weird the ghost boy felt so cold but it was comforting. Danny pulled away leaving a confused and blushing Damian. Damian was still standing there when Nightwing arrived.

hidey hey
“Dash, you’re here so we can work on our project for Lancer’s class. We’re not supposed to be down here.”
“Come on, ghosts aren’t even real. How dangerous can it be down here?”
Danny rolled his eyes. “Dangerous enough that we should really be wearing jumpsuits to protect us from ecto-contamination.”
He walked over to the closet that was down there and pulled out his jumpsuit while Dash laughed at him.
“Matching outfits with your parents? Lame.”
“Don’t complain to me if you get ectoplasm poisoning then.”
Danny pulled on his jumpsuit and groaned at the sticker on his chest. He pulled it off and tossed it away.
“What’s this?” Dash pointed at the deep hole in the wall. Danny walked over to him.
“That’s my parent’s ghost portal. It didn’t end up working though.”
Dash pushed him towards the portal. “Why don’t you go check it out?”
Danny frowned at him and tried to catch his footing. “No. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I can’t-”
“Haha, go in.”
“Dash, stopping pushing me-”
Danny tripped backwards over the threshold of the portal. He tried to catch himself on something on the wall but all he ended up doing was pressing a button that for some godforsaken reason was on the inside of the portal. It hummed around him and after a few moments everything went green.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Glad to see you’re not dead, nerd.”
Danny looked up to see Dash. It was too early in the morning to deal with him after yesterday.
“You already knew I wasn’t dead.”
“A man can dream.” Danny rolled his eyes at Dash’s comment.
“I remember someone crying a lot of tears yesterday when they thought I was dead.”
A blush rose on Dash’s cheeks. “My adrenaline was running like crazy! It’s not my fault your screams triggered some kind of primal response in my brain!”
“Crying is a primal response now?”
Dash rolled his eyes back at him and crossed his arms. “Have you figured out your whole ghost thing yet?”
“It’s literally been one day.” Danny stared at him. “How could I have figured anything out yet?”
Dash leaned in close to Danny and he glanced at Dash’s lips for a moment before his gaze darted back to Dash’s. “Maybe your parents have some sort of cure. Or maybe it was a one time thing. I don’t know.”
“Why do you care so much? It’s literally your fault this is happening.”
Dash raised a hand and looked like he was reaching to place it on Danny’s shoulder. “I just-”
Dash was interrupted by someone clearing their throat behind them. They turned around and were met with Sam and Tucker. She was glaring at Dash with her arms crossed.
“What are you friends with him now?” Sam asked, angrily gesturing at Dash.
“Woah, so what if he wants to be friends with me?” He asked, stepping towards her.
She barked out a laugh. “Come on! You’ve been bullying him the entire time I’ve known both of you. Why would he want to be friends with you? You must be blackmailing him or something.”
“Sam, he’s not blackmailing me.”
“How can we trust that? You could be lying because he’s blackmailing you.” Tucker frowned at him and reached out a hand, placing it on Danny’s shoulder. “I don't want what happened in elementary school to happen again.”
Danny shrugged it off. “That’s not what’s going on. Why can’t you just trust me on this?”
“Because this isn’t smart.” Sam said. “Why do you guys need to be friends?”
Danny threw his hands into the air. “Why are you getting so defensive about this? You’ve literally only seen us have this one conversation and you’re already mad at me. For all you know we could have been assigned a project together or he’s asking about his tutoring sessions with Jazz. Maybe he had to reschedule and wanted me to tell Jazz.”
Tucker shuffled where he stood but Sam still stared at him with crossed arms.
“Yeah but are you going to tell us the real reason?”
“Does it matter, Sam?”
Out of the corner of his eye Dash saw Danny start slowly sinking. He panickingly grabbed Danny’s arm to prevent him from sinking any further into the ground. Danny tried to keep his expression neutral but Dash could tell he was shaken.
“Oh. Is that what’s happening?” Sam looked between the two of them.
“Is what happening?” Danny asked, frowning at her.
“What kind of enemies to lovers bullshit is this?” Dash’s eyes widened at her outburst. What was she talking about? What did she think was happening?
His gaze landed on where his hand was still wrapped around Danny’s upper arm and he pulled it back like he’d been burned. Sam scoffed.
“Sam-” Tucker started but she interrupted him.
“Do you even realize how toxic that kind of relationship can be? He’s just going to hurt you.”
Danny recoiled at her words. “What are you even talking about?”
“The fact that you two seem to be getting real cozy with each other? Are you dating or something?”
Dash stepped in front of Danny. “How shallow do you have to assume the only reason I’d be talking to him now is if we’re dating? For your information, we used to be friends as kids.” Dash frowned at her and watched as she backed up. “Just because you’re self conscious about your major crush on Fenton doesn’t mean you have to take it out on us because we’re having a simple conversation.”
A blush appeared on Sam’s cheeks before she angrily stormed away.
“Sorry.” Tucker said as he looked between them again before he followed after her.
Danny watched them as they walked into the school. He was quiet for a few moments before he turned his gaze back to Dash.
“Sam has a crush on me?”
Dash groaned. “That is what you’re focused on?” He started walking towards the school.
Danny followed next to him. “But I didn’t know that! How did you know that?”
“You’re just about the only person who didn’t know, Fenton.”
Dash pushed through the front doors of the school. Danny had a dazed look on his face.
“Is that why everyone calls me clueless?” He whispered.
“Clueless strikes again.”
Danny frowned up at him. “Oh what, you’re so observant, are you?”
Dash pushed open the front door of the school. It swung closed behind them. “More than you. I’m not even friends with Manson and I could see the blackened heart eyes she was giving you.”
Danny shuffled his backpack on his shoulders as they walked down the hall. “I’ve just never seen her that way. I don’t like her like that.”
Dash’s brows shot up on his forehead. “You don’t?”
Danny shook his head. He veered off to the right and Dash followed him to his locker. “She's just a friend to me.”
Dash leaned against the lockers while Danny tried to open his but his hand just ended up passing through the dial lock. He groaned.
“Maybe you should tell her that, then. Get it over with so she doesn’t try to kill anyone that even thinks to get close to you.”
Danny rolled his eyes. He finally got his locker open. “She wouldn’t kill anyone for getting close to me.”
“I don’t know.” Dash drawled. “She looked like she was gonna claw my eyes out back there. Like a creepy bat girl.”
Danny slammed his locker shut and turned to look at Dash. “You know, if we’re going to be doing whatever this is, I would appreciate you not making comments about my friends like that.”
“But she can talk to me like that?”
Danny frowned. “No. I literally told her there was no reason for her to be talking to you like that for having a simple conversation with me.”
“But she’s allowed to not like me?”
“That’s your own fault.” Danny rolled his eyes. “She has every right not to like you.”
Dash huffed. He was about to say something but then Danny started sinking into the floor again. Danny panickingly grabbed Dash’s forearm to prevent himself from sinking any further in. Dash pulled him up and when he set him back down, his feet were solid again. Dash looked around them and miraculously no one else in the hall saw what happened.
“I’m already over this.” Danny mumbled as he let go of Dash.
“Do you think you’ll get control over it eventually?” Dash asked him.
“Hopefully. Otherwise I’ll probably have no choice but to ask my parents for help. I really don’t want to do that though.”
“Maybe we could do some training? Or practice? You won’t get used to your powers if you just try to ignore them. If you try to do it, then maybe you’ll understand how to not do it.”
Danny nodded. “That makes sense. I guess that’s what we’ll have to do.”
They came to a split in the hallway. Danny looked up at him.
“Well, I’m going this way.” Danny hooked a thumb over his shoulder as he turned to face Dash.”
Dash nodded. “See you later. Hopefully you don’t drop anything today.”
“Hopefully. We’ll see.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Thirty four beakers.
Danny was finally getting ahold of his powers and all it took was thirty four dropped beakers and a lifetime ban from handling anything fragile while he was at school.
Aside from the frequent ghost sighting, things were starting to look up.
“Manson!”
If only Dash could learn to keep his thoughts to himself when it came to his friends.
“What is this garbage?”
He stomped up to where the three of them were sitting at their table in the cafeteria. Sam frowned at him.
“It’s not garbage! It’s recyclable organic matter.”
“It’s garbage.” Danny and Tucker said together.
Danny gasped out a breath of cold air. He looked around him. He saw a lunch lady ghost behind the food counter.
Dash followed his gaze to where the ghost was. He saw it just as she walked behind the wall.
Dash looked back at Sam and held up his plate of mud, pushing himself between Danny and his friends. “When I asked for a mud pie, I thought I was gonna get a mud pie. Not a literal mud pie!”
“Actually, it’s topsoil.”
“Whatever. Are you going to actually eat this garbage?”
Danny slipped away while Dash argued with his friends. Maybe Dash arguing with his friends could actually be useful for something for once.
He found somewhere to hide and transformed. He flew invisibly back to the cafeteria to the room the lunch ladies worked in. She was floating there looking around and the food and the lunch trays. She kind of looked like Tucker’s grandma.
She caught sight of him. Danny was ready to bolt as she floated up to him, but she wasn’t making any moves to attack him.
“Hello.” She said sweetly. “Can you help me? Today’s lunch should be meatloaf, but there’s not any here. Did someone change the menu?”
“Oh. Uh, yeah. They’re trying something new this week.”
Danny jumped back as her hair suddenly flamed up with her anger.
“The menu has been the same for fifty years!” She shouted at him.
“Wait-”
She levitated some plates and shot them at him. Danny dodged and caught them, avoiding getting hit. What was up with this lady? Why was the menu so important?
“The menu is sacred! Lunch is sacred!” She spoke in her sickly sweet voice again. “Would you like some cake?”
Danny looked at her, confused. “If you’re offering-”
“No one gets cake until the menu is changed back!”
She held her arms up and meat started flying towards her from every direction. It engulfed her and turned her into a meat monster.
“Meat is the most important food group! Without meat, you’ll remain puny and muscle-less!”
“I’m not arguing with you there.” Danny mumbled. He geared up for a kick but she grabbed his ankle and sent him flying across the room.
“I will restore the sanctity of the lunch menu! As soon as I find out who changed it!”
She disappeared in a tornado of meat.
The ghost was gone for now. Danny flew through the wall of the school and collapsed onto the ground. He transformed back and tried to push himself up. He was so tired. He’d never used his powers like that before. He groaned.
“Hey.”
Danny opened his eyes and looked up. Dash was standing there with his hand outstretched to Danny. He looked at it for a second before he reached up and grabbed it, pulling himself up with Dash’s help.
“Thanks. That ghost wiped me out.”
“No problem. I wanted to make sure that ghost didn’t kill you. I was trying to find you when I saw you fly through the wall and hit the ground out here.”
Danny nodded. “Yeah that wasn’t fun.” He looked down and saw that he was still holding onto Dash’s hand. He pulled it away and coughed. He hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “I should go check on Sam and Tucker though. I want to make sure they’re okay.”
“The ghost attack was pretty contained.” Dash said. “I’m sure they’re fine.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Ah.” Dash said. “That’s fair. Sorry about dragging out that argument with her.”
Danny shrugged and started walking away. “It distracted them long enough to let me slip away for a bit so. No harm done. At least not to me.”
“Good luck. Hopefully she doesn’t chew your head off.”
Danny pulled the door Dash had walked out open and stepped back inside the school, shaking the hand that had been holding Dash’s. He made his way through the hallways to find Sam and Tucker.
Sam slammed open the cafeteria doors as Danny stumbled down the hallway.
“I still can’t believe you’re talking to that meathead.” She shot at him with no preamble. “He literally antagonizes all of us. And then you ditch us to go meet up with him? I saw you two outside.”
“Sam-”
“What can you say to defend him?” She turned to look at him. “He beats you up all the time.”
“Not anymore.” Danny said.
“What?” Sam stopped walking.
“He doesn’t beat me up anymore.”
She didn’t say anything to that for a few moments. She shook her head. “I still don’t trust him. I don’t get how you could forgive him so easily.”
“I-” He stopped. Had he forgiven Dash?
Sam shook his head. “Let’s just get to class.”
Danny looked around them. “Where’s Tucker?”
She rolled her eyes. “He said he smelt meat so he went to track it down through the hallways. I don’t know if he’s found it yet.”
Danny scrunched up his nose. He knew exactly what meat Tucker was smelling. “He’s just gonna go eat whatever random mystery meat he finds?”
“Apparently.”
Danny didn’t respond after her last stilted reply. He followed behind her to their next class. When they walked in she went straight to her seat but he looked up and made eye contact with Dash. Dash gave him a questioning look and Danny just shrugged at him before sitting back down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash walked into the Nasty Burger. Football had just ended and he was hungry.
As he was walking to the counter he saw Danny sitting at a table with his friends. Dash smirked and walked over to them.
“Hey, nerds.” He placed a hand on the table and leaned his weight into it.
Sam rolled her eyes. “What do you want?”
“I just came to say hi to my favorite nerds. Is there a problem with that?”
“If we’re your favorite does that mean you’ll stop making fun of us?” Tucker asked thoughtfully. “Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad, Sam.”
“He’s not going to stop making fun of us, Tucker. The two of them are over there ‘trying to be friends.’” She said with air quotes. “And he still picks on us all the time.”
“I’ve tried talking to him about it, Sam, but he has a hard time with it.”
She shot Danny a look. “So why be friends with him? Why give him a chance? What do you see in him?”
“Just because he doesn’t like you-”
Sam scoffed. “Maybe you’re too insecure about your own crush on Danny.”
Danny whipped his head to look at her.
“What?” Dash laughed it off. “What are you talking about, Manson?”
“Yeah, Sam, what are you talking about?” Danny stared at her.
“Isn’t that what’s been happening this whole time?” She shot back at them. “He’s got some kind of weird feelings for you, he’s trying to get into your pants. Get on your good side. The pulling the girl’s pigtails because you like her bullshit? Don’t you see how weird his sudden change in actions towards you is?”
“What about your sudden change in actions?” Danny shot at her. “Do you realize how much of an asshole you’ve been lately?”
“Well, maybe if you weren’t friends with-”
Danny threw his hands up in the air. “God forbid if I make new friends! Or try to get along with someone instead of fighting! Or even make decisions for myself.”
“Danny-”
He cut her off and stood up. “No I’m-” He gasped and Dash saw his ghost sense fog out of his mouth. He frowned. “I’m going home. I need some time alone.” He turned and started walking towards the door.
“Danny!” Dash followed behind Danny out of the Nasty Burger.
The ghost was flying above the parking lot shooting ecto-blasts every which way.
The door slammed behind Dash and Danny turned his head to look at him.
“I need some time to think. Please just go back inside.”
He called on his transformation rings. Once they passed across his body he jumped up and flew into the air towards the ghost.
He watched Danny fight the ghost. He could tell he was angry. He was sloppy today.
Danny missed a dodge and got hit through the air by the ghost. He ended up turned facing the opposite direction so he didn’t see it start to charge at him.
Dash’s heart raced as he watched the ghost fly up to Danny. His heart stirred with feelings he wanted to push down. He didn’t need to put himself in danger for Danny. He didn’t feel that way. Danny didn’t feel that way about him.
But as the ghost got closer, Dash couldn’t help as the anxiety skyrocketed. His resolve broke and he picked up a big piece of asphalt off the ground and chucked it at the ghost. It turned to look at him.
Dash froze when the ghost’s eyes landed on him. What was he doing? Was Danny really that important to him now?
The ghost’s mouth filled up with ectoplasm and shot it towards.
He wouldn’t be able to move in-
Danny knocked Dash out of the way of the ecto-blast just in time. His arms wrapped around Dash’s chest and he flew back. The blast hit the ground where he’d been standing just a moment before.
Dash wrapped his arms around Danny as they slammed into the ground. He groaned as his back slid across the pavement and Danny looked down at him. He started feeling the back of Dash’s head, running his fingers through his hair.
Dash opened his eyes and looked up at Danny. He looked panicked. Like something was wrong, but he literally just prevented anything from being wrong.
“Dash, are you okay?”
He nodded. “Back hurts. Head’s fine.”
Danny leaned down and lay his head on Dash’s chest. Dash’s hands slid down Danny’s back and rested at his side and he closed his eyes again. He really didn’t like this whole ghost hunting thing.
The ghost roared behind them and Dash felt Danny’s head shoot back up.
“Shit! How did I forget about the ghost?”
Dash waved his hand above him. “Go. I’m fine. I’m just gonna get my bearings on the ground here.”
Dash listened as Danny finished fighting the ghost. It ended quickly and he could hear Danny’s footsteps as he walked to stand over Dash. Dash opened his eyes and his heart jumped at the way the sun shone on Danny’s white hair.
Danny held his hand out to Dash and he slowly reached up and grabbed it. Danny pulled him to his feet and looked at their hands. He let go a moment later.
“I think we need a new rule. No interfering with ghost attacks.”
“What?” Dash frowned at him. “That thing was about to gobble you.”
Danny crossed his arms. “Yeah, but if I didn’t get to you on time you could've gotten very badly hurt. I thought I knocked your head on the ground when I knocked you out of the way.”
Dash shrugged. “But you didn’t.”
“We can’t rely on that.” Danny looked away from him. “Just promise you won’t interfere like that again?”
Dash wasn’t sure if that was something he could actually do. But one look at the expression on Danny’s face told Dash he should at least try.
“Yeah. I promise.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny was nodding off in the middle of class. They were given time to work on their homework today but all Danny wanted to do was sleep. Having to fight all these ghosts all the time was making his life way too stressful. He wasn’t to sleep or get his homework done or even get to class on time. It was starting to get to him.
He yawned. While his eyes were shut he heard someone sit down next to him. He opened his eyes and saw Dash in the next seat over.
“You look tired.”
“Thanks, captain obvious. I didn’t realize.”
Dash shrugged. He slouched back in his seat. “Your friends are whispering about you back there.”
Danny turned and looked over his shoulder at where Sam and Tucker sat at the table in the back of the classroom. When they saw him looking Sam turned back around. Tucker just waved at him awkwardly.
Danny waved back at him. “I wish they’d just sit over here with me.”
Dash waved them off. “Who needs ‘em if they’re going to be treating you like that.”
Sam snorted behind them. Dash turned to look at her. “You got something to say Manson?”
“As if we could treat him any worse than anything you’ve ever done to him.”
Dash shrugged as he faced back towards the front of the classroom. “Hey, at least my character arc is positive. I’ve made amends.”
“You’ve hardly even done anything. What kind of character arc have you actually had?”
“I-” Dash started but then he stopped. His brows dropped down and he looked at Danny.
It hit Danny then that the only thing that really changed with Dash’s behavior was how he treated Danny. He didn’t pick on him anymore and he had cared about him, but he immediately resumed the same habits with both of Danny’s friends. Any time that Dash covered for Danny’s whereabouts during ghost fights, the only thing he could think to do was antagonize Sam and Tucker. He could never think up any actual excuses that wouldn’t cause more problems.
Danny missed part of the conversation. By the time he tuned back in, Sam was glaring at Dash from across the room.
“Just because he’d rather spend time with me than you-”
Danny’s ghost sense picked that moment to go off and he couldn’t think of a more convenient time for it to have happened. He stood up sharply and made his way out of the classroom quickly. The door slammed behind him as it closed and he was a couple steps down the hallway when the door opened behind him again.
“Danny, wait-”
“Why do you do that?” Danny turned and frowned at him.
“What?” Dash’s brows furrowed.
“Why do you dig at them like that? Make them feel bad about what’s going on?”
“Manson-” Dash started but Danny interrupted him.
“No. Sam and Tucker are mad at me because of you. They think I’m always ditching them to go hang out with you instead.”
“That’s not my fault!” Dash shouted back at him. “That’s the ghost’s fault!”
“But they don’t know that!” Danny stared at him. “All they know is that I’m on good terms with you now and I disappear all the time. They know something is up.”
Dash shuffled where he stood. He knew he was causing a rift between Danny and his friends. No matter how much he liked to antagonize them, he wasn’t proud of it. He wasn’t trying to put distance between them.
Danny sighed. “She keeps making jabs about us being together like it would be crazy. Like it would be the worst thing in the world.” Danny looked up at Dash. “I would like it if it wasn’t the craziest thing in the world. If it could actually be true. But with the way you treat my friends-” He shook his head.
Everything around Dash stopped. What?
“Danny-”
A blue mist came out of Danny’s mouth again. He shook his head.
“I gotta go.”
“Wait-”
Danny ran around the corner away from Dash.
“What did you do to him?”
Dash looked down the hallway to see Sam glaring at him. Tucker stood next to her.
“What?” He asked.
“He just ran away from you? What did you do to him?” She stomped her way over to him.
“Nothing!” Dash held his hands up in a surrendering motion. “We were just talking and he had to go-”
“We’re in the middle of class. What else would he need to be doing right now?”
“Yeah. Why would he be leaving?” Tucker asked.
“He, uh, went to-”
Sam ran past him and around the corner Danny went down, Tucker close on her heels. Dash followed behind them knowing Danny would already be gone but they didn’t stop there. They ran down the hallway and out the door leading outside.
“Danny?” She shouted. “Where are you?”
Dash was the only one that noticed Danny floating in the sky. He was fighting an animal type ghost.
“Uh, guys, I think we should probably go back inside.”
He pointed up at the sky and Sam and Tucker followed his finger. Sam’s eyes widened and she looked around the front of the school again.
“Danny!”
Phantom must’ve heard that one because he turned his head to look down at them. The ghost took that moment to hit Phantom, sending him flying through the air. Now he was much closer to them.
This ghost looked horrifying. It was animalistic but it looked uncannily like a person. Stringy, hair looking fur and teeth curved into a creepy smile.
“Get to safety! Now!” Phantom shouted down at them. He shot another ectoblast at the ghost.
“We have to find Danny first!” Sam shouted in a panic.
“He’s not out here.” Dash turned to go back inside the school. “Let’s just listen to Phantom and get somewhere safe.”
“That hallway doesn’t lead anywhere except outside! Where else could he be?” Sam asked, still turning around looking for Danny.
“He didn’t-”
“Danny!” Tucker shouted.
Dash growled. Why didn’t they just listen to him?
The ghost let out a shriek and Dash squeezed his eyes shut and covered his ears.
“Go inside, now!”
Dash’s eyes opened at Phantom’s shout. He looked back up into the air.
Dash stared at the ghost that was hovering in the air in front of them. It was cackling, its head thrown back into the air. It looked back at the ground directly at Sam and promptly shot an ectoblast out of its mouth. Dash saw Sam’s mouth open the slightest bit and everything slowed down. Danny turned, following the path of the blast but when he tried to fly towards her the ghost grabbed onto him, trapping him.
This was one of Danny’s best friends. She might hate Dash’s guts but Danny cared for her more than she hated him.
Without another thought, he pushed himself into a run and sprinted his way across the grass. He put himself between her and the ghost and grabbed her just as the blast hit him in the back.
He could hear Sam scream as they fell to the ground. Tucker was shouting from somewhere else but Dash couldn’t make much out past the ringing in his ears. He could hear scuffling in the air above him but it was muffled. The pain in his back radiated out and he could feel it in every jostle as someone shook his body.
Everything started fading away and Dash hoped he wasn’t dying. Distantly, he wondered if this is how Danny felt when he died in the portal.
The voices fell away and so did Dash.
~~~~~~~~~~
Slowly, the world came back to him. The first thing he noticed was the steady beeping nearby. The second thing was how bright the lights were against his eyelids.
He groaned and he heard some shuffling to his left. Someone placed a hand on his arm.
“Dash?”
His heart skipped a beat and he slowly pried his eyes open. He was laying in a bed in the hospital and Danny was standing to his left.
“Danny?” Dash croaked out. He tried to sit up but Danny pushed him back down against his pillows.
“You shouldn’t move too much. You got hit pretty bad.”
“You got the ghost though?” Dash asked.
“Yeah, he got the ghost.”
Sam and Tucker walked into the room and stood next to Danny.
“Uh, no I asked if Phantom got the-” Dash fumbled, trying to cover it up.
“It’s okay, Dash.” Danny said. “I told them. I thought it might be better if they knew.”
Dash looked at Danny’s two friends. They didn’t look like they were mad at him anymore. Or like they hated him. It was relieving that they knew. Danny didn’t have to keep avoiding them or keep secrets anymore.
“If we’d known in the first place we could’ve helped, you know.” Sam said, shooting both of them a look.
“Yeah. A team always needs a tech guy.” Tucker crossed his arms in mock frustration.
“But we do understand why you guys have been acting weird for the past couple months.” Sam turned to look at Dash. “Thank you for helping him even though you didn’t have to.”
Dash nodded, dumbfounded.
She stared at him a moment longer and pulled her gaze away. “And thank you for knocking me out of the way of that hit. Sorry it landed you here.”
Dash shook his head. “You’re Danny’s friends. You’re important to him. I didn’t want you to get hurt because of all this ghost stuff.”
“That’s a nice thought, but you should also try not to get yourself hurt.” Sam said.
“Yeah.” Danny frowned. “You promised.”
Dash shrugged. “We can call it karma.”
Tucker stepped forward. “We need a name.”
“A name?” Danny looked up at Tucker.
“Yeah, like a cool ghost hunting team name.” He waved his hands in the air. “What about Team Phantom?”
Sam snorted. “That sounds dumb.”
Tucker planted his hands on his hips. “Well, do you have any better ideas then?”
Danny’s hand slowly made his way down from his arm to his hand as they talked. He entwined his fingers with Dash’s and gave him a squeeze. Dash squeezed his hand back.
Everything would be okay. Everything was okay.
Mama was having her morning coffee out on the front stoop with Norma (Jack and Danny's mom) like they did most mornings when it was warm enough just after she saw Daddy off to work and me off to school. Every morning was nearly the same. The milk man making his deliveries door to door. Waves from passer byers driving to wherever they were headed and the busy distant sounds of the city streets. Norma headed inside so she could start her day cleaning and gardening. Mama was about to head inside when a beautiful, shiny red car pulled up and parked.
Tumblr media
A beautiful woman in a red tight fit dress with hair just as read got out, released a puff of smoke from her mouth and began to walk up the sidewalk. Mama ran down the stairs as fast as her little feet let her to greet the woman.
LouAnn: Hello there, I'm LouAnn.
The woman was a bit stand-offish. Even with mama's gracious smile.
Tumblr media
??: I'm Cherie, do you live in one of these buildings?
LouAnn smiled and pointed at our house: Why yes, just over there. Are you moving into number 8?
Cherie sighed: Yes, it's much more run down looking than my agent described.
Mama could smell her perfume even standing a good distance from her, she was even more beautiful up close.
Tumblr media
LouAnn: With a little tender love and care it truly is a beautiful unit. Mr. Lee lived there since the building was built, he passed away last year. Other than his children coming to collect his belongings, it's been sitting. I'm so happy someone is finally going to make it a home again.
Tumblr media
Cherie scrunched her face up: Ugh, a dead man's house, great. Hopefully he doesn't still lurk in the hallways. [she let out a small giggle].
Tumblr media
LouAnn cleared her throat lightly, she could tell by Cherie's accent she was not from New York: Well, from my recollection he was a very kind man. Do you have any children?
Cherie: Heavens no. I've never been married, my fiance ran off with another actress, but that's a tale for another day babe.
Mama could tell Cherie was a scorned woman who had been hurt, she didn't pry. Mama knew in time things would come about in due time.
Tumblr media
LouAnn smiled: Well, I don't want to keep you, moving is a lot of work. If you need anything I'm just over there at unit 1. I'd love to have you over for dinner sometime, I know moving can have a kitchen out of sorts.
Tumblr media
Cherie finally smiled: I would love a home cooked meal tonight, I haven't had one of those in years.
LouAnn was a bit taken back by her forwardness, but painted a smile on her face anyway. She let Cherie know dinner would be served that evening at precisely 6PM before hurrying back home to clean and prepare supper since they would be having a guest, she was a bit concerned about how daddy would feel about it, but she didn't have time to gloat over it.
Phic Phight Prompt: Kwan starts a poetry club and invites everyone at school to the first monthly poetry slam. Some unexpected poets show up.
Word Count: 1881
For TheSilentBard
Summary: When Kwan revives the old poetry club he gets a bigger crowd than expected. Danny's sure no one is going to forget this meeting, especially not Mr. Lancer.
The club room is full to bursting, students - some excited, but most reluctantly - occupying each of the cheap chairs scattered almost haphazardly around the place. Slouched in one of the back corners, Danny watches Mr. Lancer pick his way through the messy array of seats to get to the front of the room with a dead-eyed stare.
"Excuse me, pardon me, please don't leave your - oof!" The teacher trips and nearly falls, barely catching himself on the back of a chair instead of braining himself on it and all Danny can muster the energy for at the sight is a slow blink. "Lord of the Flies, Mr. Baxter! Do be more careful with where you rest your feet!"
Closing his eyes even if he knows he can't sleep here Danny hears a snort which could only come from Sam. Technically, unlike him and Tucker, she isn't required to attend the club session for a chance at extra credit because she's acing the class.
"It hasn't started yet." Tucker points out helpfully, stylus still tap tap tapping away at his PDA. "You could leave. If you actually wanted to."
The teasing barb hits its mark once again and Sam slouches further into her seat with a tsk.
"I'm here to watch how hard this bombs." In her pause for emphasis, Danny can almost hear her rolling her eyes. "I haven't wasted fifteen minutes of my afternoon just to leave before the show even starts."
"So you admit that you're attending the new poetry club for fun." Tucker snipes, smile clear in his voice. There's a scuffle over Danny's head as Tucker ducks whatever Sam threw in retaliation. Used to it and too tired to participate, Danny slumps down until his head is resting on the back of his chair. The smooth plastic is uncomfortable and his spine is already protesting at the angle, but pushing himself back up is just too much work.
Now at the front of the room, Mr. Lancer speaks to Kwan at a volume that's likely a little louder than he thinks. Or, Danny grimaces as something else flies over his head and Sam hisses, it could be some kind of ghostly hearing he's developing.
Ancients he hopes its not that, but it would explain why he's finding it so hard to sleep these past few nights. Even for the evenings without ghostly visitors he's barely getting a couple of hours at a time. He opens his eyes to glare at the injustice of it all, which looks a lot like the pockmarked ceiling of the club room.
"Now, we're all very excited to see the old poetry club get enough interest and funding to finally return after over a decade with no members," Mr. Lancer says catching Danny's attention and likely repeating himself for what must be at least the third time if Kwan's disinterested smile is anything to go by. Two encouraging pats on his shoulder courtesy of their teacher twists his smile into something closer to a grimace for half a second before it settles into a more natural expression. "I know you had something in mind for the first meeting and hopefully, by offering that extra credit today you'll see membership continue to improve. However, if things go off the rails you can count on me to help with your inaugural meeting."
The words would likely be more comforting if someone didn't yelp in the back of the room just as he said them. Wincing, Danny closed his eyes at the loud noise before a tingle at the back of his throat made him straighten up abruptly. Eyes wide and far more alert than before, he stares open mouthed at a handful of ghosts calmly floating in through the closed door, drifting towards the front of the room without any care for who might be sitting in their way.
Another aborted scream or two rings out before Mr. Lancer even has a chance to turn to address it with a, "Edgar Allen P-"
The last of the English teacher's oft stated and highly creative use of the famous poets name as an epithet cuts off in the face of the man himself.
Or more accurately, the ghost himself.
Mr. Lancer coughs behind a hand, clearly having a hard time believing his eyes. At least a third of the room is on their feet, but when the ghosts do nothing more than mutter to each other they clearly start to relax. After months of ghost attacks and at least a few weeks of less dangerous hauntings happening all over town it looks like most of his classmates are willing to risk a sudden, potentially dangerous turn around in an attempt to earn a few more free points for class.
"Poe?" Mr. Lancer finally manages to squeak out. He looks ready to faint as the ghost nods a greeting (the ghostly raven on his shoulder doing the same, pulling a snicker from a few people around the room including Tucker), but holds it together with a gulp as he straightens his tie.
"Shakespeare, Poe, Dickinson, Frost - what do you know," Sam mutters as she identifies more of the ghosts on stage than Danny could have managed. It's no wonder she's actually passing the class. "Maybe this won't be so bad after all."
"How," Mr. Lancer visibly swallows back his nerves even as his hands shake. "How nice of you to join us. Will any of you be participating in our poetry readings today?"
"Yes. As always, we're here to share our works -" One of the ghosts (is it Frost or Dickinson? Wait, Danny corrects himself, he's pretty sure Dickinson is the lady actually) says before getting interrupted by the raven.
"Evermore!"
The ghost sighs at the spectral bird, but they clearly expected the interruption as they don't comment on it. Instead they go back to consulting with the ghost beside them, quietly discussing which poem they'd like to read today if their only faintly indistinct mutters are anything to go by.
"Delightful!" This has absolutely made Mr. Lancers day if not his whole month judging by his wide smile. He turns the slightly manic expression on Kwan who flinches under the force of it. "Perhaps we can hold off on your planned presentations until after our guests have, ahem, graced us with their works?"
It sounds less like a question and more like an order, especially when Mr. Lancer doesn't even wait for a response before motioning Kwan to a nearby seat.
Danny relaxes into his own with a light sigh of relief as the scattered conversations around them take on an edge of awed excitement. Not a fight then. Huh, he's actually not sure why he thought there was going to be one when clearly these ghosts are just here to indulge in their obsessions.
He quickly puts the thought out of his mind and settles in to hopefully enjoy a performance straight from the horses mouth (maybe that will be what finally helps him understand iambic pentameter), which means he jumps along with half the students when the door gets kicked in.
"Freeze, ecto-scum!" Two white suited men shout in what has to be a practiced synchronization of words and poses. Both of them have ecto guns in their hands. Hilariously, neither of the  blasters are pointed anywhere near any of the ghosts.
"They should probably take off the sunglasses." Sam snarks, now on her feet and sounding more relaxed than her tense posture displays.
"But without them they'd just be odd wedding ushers." On Danny's other side Tucker eyes the GIW agents with all the suspicion they're due.
"I think they'd be just as blind either way," Danny points out, sliding his chair a little further back in case he needs to disappear behind his friends. It's looking more likely.
Or it is before Danny gets a look at Mr. Lancer's face.
Danny has done many things that his teacher does not approve of. He's missed class, forgotten homework, fallen asleep on his desk, and even attempted to cheat on his exams, but never before has he seen Mr. Lancer look like this. Instinctively, he finds himself hunching his shoulders in an attempt to make himself smaller, less noticeable, in the face of someone clearly ready to rain hellfire upon their enemies.
The GIW are making an attempt to aim at their foes only to find themselves blocked bodily by one enraged vice-principal.
"Gentlemen," Mr. Lancer grinds out, frowning hard enough that Danny starts to wonder if the expression hurts him to maintain. His words are polite, but the tone is very clear: he doesn't hold even an ounce of respect for these invaders. "Our poetry club was just about to start. Please see yourselves out if you plan to be disruptive."
The white suited agents protest loudly, but it's abundantly clear that between Mr. Lancer and the students who were excited for a chance to hear from the masters (or possibly, just very invested in this afternoon's extra credit) that they won't be capturing or shooting any ghosts today.
That's good, because Danny's too busy trying to slow his heart rate down after he finally noticed Sidney Poindexter hovering just behind his shoulder. It took Tucker pointedly clearing his throat and Danny's pretty sure he nearly jumped out of his skin at the sight of the glowing teen.
"I see you've found the Dead Poets Society," He pushes his glasses back into place with a bland look in the face of Danny's weak glare. "I had wondered where they got to when they missed our usual club meeting."
"They meet regularly?" Danny asks, but doesn't get more than a nod in response before Sam cuts in with a question of her own.
"Why at the school? I'm sure there's other good places to meet."
"I invited them and offered it as a neutral ground." There's a pause as Danny shares a look with Sam and Tucker, all of them imagining the circumstances behind some famous poets needing specifically 'neutral ground' to meet on. Danny winces as he suddenly remembers every bruise or worse that he's gotten since ghosts started visiting Amity Park's very clearly not-at-all-neutral ground. Sidney ignores their silent conversation, not looking away from the ghosts quietly arguing at the front of the room. "It certainly made the poetry club less repetitive, so I've let the weekly meetings continue."
"So what you're saying," Tucker grins as the door to the classroom is slammed shut and locked, muffling the indignant agents' argument, "is that we're definitely in for a show."
"Well, I could imagine worse ways to spend my afternoon." Arms crossed, Sam settles back into her chair and, following Sidney's example, ignores how Tucker's smile somehow reaches new heights of smugness.
"Well, at least it will be an interesting extra credit assignment."
And maybe, if he's lucky, it'll be a reoccurring one. Danny could really use the extra help passing any of his classes. Besides, if the stars in Mr. Lancer's eyes are anything to go by, Danny wouldn't be the only one checking in on the poetry club's weekly meetings from now on. Danny might as well get some extra points for keeping an eye on some positive ghost-human interactions.
memories of the grave
DannyMay 2023 Day 18: Grave
title: memories of the grave
Words: 2166
Complete
Warning: Major Character Death and Everlasting Trio
Summary/Excerpt: Songfic to the song Sacred by Citizen Soldier - He frequently thought about death. His death, at least.
~~~~~~
Chasing ghosts, chasing dreams
What is next? What might be?
Never content, always hungry
Overlook this moment and you'll be sorry
It was, unsurprisingly, Jazz who first brought it up, towards the end of high school.
“You’ve gotten taller!” She said, clapping her hands together in excitement.
“Uh, yeah? People do that?” Danny answered, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah. People do.” She’d responded, giving him a Look.
“Jazz, Vlad’s aged. We already knew I would. We just don’t know what happens… later. As far as Vlad can tell from the tests he ran after his accident, he’ll still die, he just may live longer than expected, though. Everything’s fine.” Danny said, waving his hand boredly as though brushing the topic away. Sure, death was something he often thought about, there wasn’t really any avoiding it with how injured he got - even if he did disregard the whole half-ghost-half-dead-kid thing. Honestly, he didn’t think he’d live long enough to have a natural death regardless, not with how often he got his ass handed to him, even if that was growing less and less often. He frequently thought about death.
His death, at least.
Don't take the ones you love for granted, not for a second
If you do you've got the rest of your life left to regret it
You're gonna miss these days, I hope you never forget it
The present is precious
It was in his mid-20s, after successfully completing college and graduating easily, his secret long since exposed, that he realized he loved Sam and Tucker more than anything else in the world. They had been roommates their entire college career and when it came time to leave, he didn’t want to. He’d lost track of the number of times they’d ended up all sleeping in one person’s bed, platonically snuggling into each other as they studied and quizzed each other until they all succumbed to exhaustion.
He’d felt nothing but relief when, three days before they were all set to go their own ways, Sam called a meeting and disclosed she felt the same way, Tucker and Danny’s confessions following.
It helped that being ‘weird’ or doing things an uncommon way was just a state of life for the trio at this point. Side effect of one of them being a ghost superhero and his friends. So all loving each other… it had come easily. Sleeping every night in the same bed, swathed in love and happiness, was just that - easy.
You get one life, one chance
Give it everything 'cause this is all we have
If this day was your last
Could you hold your head high? Could you live with that?
So take it in, just embrace the adrenaline
This is sacred, we'll never get it back again
It was in their 30s, when they started genuinely discussing adopting a child, that the realization hit. Danny had stopped growing. While lines and the occasional gray hair had begun to show on his lovers, Danny’s face remained unchanged. No laugh lines, no wrinkles, nothing. Still, they kept their belief that it was just Danny aged slowly.
The topic of kids never came back up. Danny always felt like that was his fault, despite Sam and Tucker’s constant reassurances otherwise.
Wasted time, wasted love
What you have now, why can't that be enough?
What you're most terrified to lose
Take it for granted when it's right in front of you
Jack would be the first person Danny ever truly lost. Sure, he’d lost his grandparents as a child, but he barely knew them. But this was his father, who had lifted him above his head and ran around while Danny pretended to be a rocket. Who helped him with his homework, who wholeheartedly accepted Danny when he’d come out to them - both as a ghost and as having two lovers.
Who didn’t listen when his doctors told him he needed to take better care of his health, who didn’t lay off the fudge when they suggested it.
His father’s grave was the first Danny had ever stood next to and sobbed, beside his sister and mom, Sam and Tucker trying to soothe him in a situation that knew only grief. Danny and Jazz had handled the burial, the finances, letting their mother grieve the loss of the love of her life.
Yeah, you're such a slave to anxiety
Your future, your past, pulling you away
It made you so blind, now that must change
'Cause right now with who you love, this is everything
Maddie didn’t outlive Jack by more than a few months. She went peacefully in her sleep at home, at least, didn’t have to suffer through heart failure in a hospital until her last breath.
Danny had taken over the funeral arrangements for his mother, burying her beside his father. Jazz kept trying to help but he could practically feel her pain and grief every time she tried to do so. There was more to do with their mother’s passing. With both parents gone, it fell to their kids to close bank accounts, to notify friends, to sort through documents upon documents, to decide what to do with the house, which had long since been transformed back into a normal family home, when even Maddie could no longer chase ghosts. They knew Danny would do it, after all. They’d had faith in him - in Phantom - even before Danny had confessed. It had been their slow acceptance of his ghost side that had allowed him the confidence to tell them, after all.
When he stood over his father’s grave again, now with his mother’s headstone beside it, he hadn’t even been able to hold himself up on his own two feet. Sam and Tucker had been just as instrumental then as they had been every other time in his life.
You get one life, one chance
Give it everything 'cause this is all we have
If this day was your last
Could you hold your head high? Could you live with that?
So take it in, just embrace the adrenaline
This is sacred, we'll never get it back again
Vlad lived almost another decade beyond Danny’s parents. It was only a few months before Vlad passed that the three of them - now nearly fifty - had to accept fact.
Danny had stopped aging. He forever looked like a college student. Sam and Tucker had begun to pull away from him. He just looked too young and it made them uncomfortable. He’d understood, when they began to pull physical intimacy away from him. He couldn’t blame them.
He’d forever be grateful they never asked him to stop curling up in the bed with them, long since used to the chill of his core, safe with the people he loved.
Vlad’s best guess was since Danny’s fusion with the ectoplasm had been so much smoother, so much more instantaneous than Vlad’s own, is why Danny stopped aging while Vlad continued. Danny was truly half and half - Vlad wasn’t.
Again, Danny was the one left handling the funeral and Vlad’s substantial wealth. Vlad had mellowed out towards the end of Danny’s high school career and they had bonded in that time. Vlad had genuinely become something of an uncle or godfather in Danny’s life. At least Vlad had a will. Danny mainly just had to sign off on some papers occasionally.
When he cried over this grave, Sam and Tucker to either side of him, he mourned more than just Vlad. He was the only halfa in the world, he was the only one of a species. And as he watched his friends, the two people he loved most in the world, age, he feared when he would be entirely alone. Even at fourteen, he’d known the consequences of immortality and been relieved he wouldn’t have to face them.
Now he was facing eternity on his own and he didn’t know what to do.
In this moment, will you live?
Embrace the unknown, your past forgive?
Every minute's a priceless gift
It's all yours, so what you gonna do with it?
Jazz’s funeral was the first he didn’t have to help with, allowed to just grieve. Her son - already in his thirties, Danny remembered when he was born - had handled everything, allowing Danny to simply be. Her son had been confused by Danny, he hadn’t met his uncle since he was a young child. That had been a decision Jazz and Danny had come to together, as ghosts faded back to myth, as his identity fell into legend.
He had never met any of her other children, all born later, though Jazz had made sure to keep him up to date on everything in her life. So he couldn’t blame them for staring at him - an apparent 20-something year old man sobbing until he couldn’t breathe over their mother’s grave.
If they recognized him from her wedding pictures, from where he’d been best man, they didn’t mention it.
Danny couldn’t help but avoid Jazz’s second son. Named Daniel, in honor of Jazz’s lost brother. In honor of him.
Don't take the ones you love for granted, not for a second
You're gonna miss these days, yeah, the present is precious
When Tucker died, Danny thought he would, too, his core ached so deeply. They’d known it was coming. Tucker had gotten pneumonia and fallen and in his advanced age - nearly eighty five now - his odds had never looked good.
Danny hated how helpless he felt then, waiting for the man he loved to die, watching him wither away the longer he was in the hospital - somewhere Tucker hated so fiercely. It was a small miracle he’d never really regained true consciousness after the fall. He’d have hated this so much.
He had so much power yet he could do nothing against human illness, against the march of time, no matter how much he pleaded with Clockwork, how much he begged to not be left behind.
He’d lived long enough, he was ready to rest. Over eighty years was a good run, he’d had a good life.
“I’m sorry, child,” Clockwork had said, and Danny believed him. “I cannot intervene. Even Pariah Dark could not kill you now. You are strong and your core is long matured. Everything will be okay.”
Still, that didn’t keep him from crying when he was in Tucker’s room as the heart monitor flatlined and never restarted.
You get one life, one chance
Give it everything 'cause this is all we have
If this day was your last
Could you hold your head high? Could you live with that?
So take it in, just embrace the adrenaline
This is sacred, we'll never get it back again
Sam went next, several years later. Every time he’d had to fill out paperwork for her, listing himself as a family friend instead of what he was - her husband, her lover - his heart had broken. But she was over ninety when she died. And he was forever twenty five.
He’d buried them beside each other, just like his parents had been. They’d spent their entire lives together, after all. It made sense for their bodies to rest near each other forever.
“Well, that turn out was more than I expected.” Sam said to his side, pulling Danny from the graves at his feet. He turned to her and smiled. Death had returned her to her youth and she grinned at him, floating a few feet to his side, clad in clothes made of plants, gently coaxing some flowers out of the ground.
“I still had more!” Tucker protested to his other side and Danny laughed. While Tucker had accepted the pharaoh aesthetic upon his death, he still looked like an ancient Egyptian mixed with Technus, technology even now his third love (after Sam and Danny, who tied for first, of course, he insisted).
“Yeah, ‘cuz they hadn’t died yet!” Sam shot back. “You can’t compare it when half the people we knew have kicked the bucket since your funeral!”
Comfort surrounded Danny, filled the air. They had stayed, they had clung to life so fiercely after death, just so he wouldn’t be alone. And as soon as Sam had died, Clockwork had arrived and married them the way they never could have in life.
“Oh shut up, guys,” Danny joked, rolling his eyes and jumping up, letting his transformation to Phantom slide over him. “Let’s go home.”
As the three flew away, playfully chasing and dodging each other, Danny let himself feel a comfort he hadn’t in fifty years, finally no longer being left behind, and remembered what Clockwork had said at the end of the trio’s ghostly wedding.
He’d placed his hand on Danny’s shoulders and smiled. “I told you everything would be okay.”
One life, one chance
So take it in, just embrace the adrenaline
If this day was your last
This is sacred, we'll never get it back again

For cross country, Julia was first to be outside before the guys join her. "You know me being a virgin is literally a threat to my life." Stiles walks up to her.
"Excuse me?" She said not caught up.
"Oh, right. The three killings that have happened all have happened to virgins. God, your lucky you aren't at risk."
"Huh? Why do you say that?" She laughs at him.
"You and Isaac. Scott told me about you guys." He tells her.
"We never did any of that... We had a few heated make outs over the summer and that's all. I'm still a virgin just like you buddy." She laughs patting his back.
"Okay, well, we need to find people to have sex with so we don't die." He makes her laugh more.
"Three's, Stiles. Deer, Prada, and Birds. Heather, pool boy, and girl in the woods. I'm sure we're onto a different set of three's now."
"We can't be so sure." He huffs.
"Okay, so come over to my house after school and let's get it over with." She jokes with him since it would weird him out.
"Excuse me?" He looks at her with wide eyes. "Not, funny. I just had Danny joke with me."
"I'm serious. No strings attached. One night and done." She still plays along making it seem like she was serious, "Bonus since you aren't unattractive and I'm a Martin. I may be known as the odd one but I'm still considered attractive." She laughs.
"Why is your heart racing so much? We haven't even started running yet." Scott joins them chuckling at Stiles.
"Shut up." Stiles ignores the two.
While running Scott runs off so Stiles and Julia run together till they all come across the boy that went missing last night, dead body.
"See the way the twins looked at him." Isaac says as the four walk away.
"Yeah, like they have no idea what happened." Stiles says making Isaac say they knew. "The kid was strangled with a garrote, all right. Am I the only one realizing the lack of werewolfitude in these murders?" Stiles looks at us.
"You think it's a coincidence that they show up and people start dying?" Isaac says pointing back at them.
"Well, no, but I still don't think it's them." Stiles says.
"I actually agree with Stiles about them not killing them, but I also agree with Isaac on about they knew what's happening." Julia looks at the two.
"I don't know yet." Scott says as the boys ask him for his opinion.
"You don't know yet?" Stiles asks him.
"Well, he's got a point. Seriously, dude. Human sacrifices?"
"Scott, your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, okay? Hair literally grows from your cheeks, and will immediately disappear. And if I were to stab you, it would magically heal. But you're telling me you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?" Stiles makes to paint at him 100% agreeing with him.
"Also that you had to put a torches to your skin to have your two rings tattoo..." Julia adds.
"Sorry I can't can't have a tattoo like you where it heals normally." Scott rolls his eyes.
"How do you know she has a tattoo?" Isaac gets sidetracked.
"Huh?" Scott looks at him.
"Her butterfly tattoo." Isaac crosses his arms.
"Well, it's a Moth. Not a butterfly." Scott corrects him, "And umm, I went with her." Scott lies.
"Whatever her tattoo is... I don't care about Stiles point.. They killed that kid. They killed the girl that saved me. And I'm gonna kill them too." Isaac says walking off.
"Okay, changing the topic. Why did you tell Stiles I was with Isaac? Because I never said I was." Julia eyes Scott with her arms crossed.
"I told you not to say anything." Scott looks at Stiles.
"She said the most they did was heated make out sessions over the summer." Stiles puts his hands up making Scott cross his arms now.
"Exactly when did it start and end?" He asks thinking about the timeline.
"Why do you care?" She tilts her head and Stiles watches them confused and lost.
"I just wanna know."
"Oh, so you know where it placed?" She catches on so she laughs.
"Exactly!"
"What?" Stiles looks between the two. "Also, you have a tattoo? And you went with her?" Stiles says never having seen it.
"I'm not telling you now." She smiles at Scott walks off to the girl locker room.
"Please, fill me in." Stiles begs Scott but he ignores him.
In the next class it was just Stiles and Julia so he kept trying to ask her questions about what her and Scott were talking about and her tattoo.
"Yes, Stiles I have a tattoo but you can't see it. It's hidden because my mother would lose her mind. And Scott and I were just being annoying to each other. We did that over the summer when you weren't with us."
"You two hung out without me?!" He whispers shouts.
"Get over it." She laughs at him.
For lunch break, Stiles wouldn't give up on the fact they hung out without him. "Why did Scott go with you for you tattoo? Why didn't you invite me?"
"Because of your fear with needles. And we were already hanging out and I said I wanted one so we went." She lies to him.
"You're lying." He stops her.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are. When you lie you bite the inside of your cheek. I can see it go in some." He tells her.
"Creep, watching me that close."
"Why are you lying to me?" He crosses his arms.
"Fine! Since you must know! We were hanging out one night talking about random stuff and he kissed me. I kinda just gave in and we made out so he saw my tattoo." She just lets him know the secret.
"Scott kissed you first? And you kissed him back?"
"Yes, but it's was nothing just like me and Isaac. It was just fun with no meaning behind it." She explains to him.
"You've kissed Isaac and Scott." Stiles says feeling something he didn't like.
She grabs his face pulling him down till their lips met for a few seconds before she pulled back, "Correct. And now I kissed you, Scott and Isaac." She laughs walking off.
"Umm..." Stiles watches her walk off before puckering his lips trying to look at them.
"What are you doing?" Lydia walks by looking at him confused.
"Umm, nothing." He stops.
"Are you sure? You don't look like it." She laughs at him.
"I'm fine." He shakes his head going off to spy on his dad with Kyle's girlfriend.
As Stiles gets slapped by her while Julia was walking down the hall and sees it happened holding back her chuckle. Then waits on the side as his dad raises his voice at him about the murders.
When Noah walks away, Julia goes over to Stiles, "We need to find the new pattern. The more people get murdered... it's gonna be harder on your dad." She tells him so he turns to face her.
"The other question is how many sets of three's will there be?" He shakes his head.
"Sadly I'm not a psychic so I can't answer that." She looks at him.
"I feel like if you were you would be a lot more helpful than what you are."
"I would rather be psychic too but I'm not that lucky. Come on, let's go see if we can get anything from Kyle's locker memorial." She links her arm with him as they head down the hall.
"Okay, what's on here that gives us any clue?" Stiles looks at Kyle's locker with her as Boyd comes up to add something. "Whoa. Hey, Boyd! I didn't know you were back at school."
"Yeah, I would have told you, but we're not actually friends." He tells Stiles.
"Little rude but how well did you know Kyle? I see you guys were in Junior ROTC together." Julia asks him looking at what he added.
"Oh, so you guys were friends?" Stiles asks.
"I only had one friend. She's dead too." Boyd walks off from them.
"Well, he wasn't very helpful. But we know he was in ROTC if that's anything." Julia looks back at the locker.
"So we have to wait till someone else of found dead to see if they have anything in common?" Stiles asks her crossing his arms.
"I don't wanna say yes but probably." She makes a face, "Now, I gotta find my sister." Julia leaves his side so he just follows her. "Why are you following me?" She loos back at him.
"Scott is busy with the twins so..." He keeps following her as she finds Lydia.
"Lydia, so I'm gonna remind you again. Next time you have a hookup coming over try for me, shush." Julia gives her a smile.
"I'm sorry but he knew some things. Now, why are you following Julia like a lost puppy dog?" Lydia keeps walking by her sister's side with Stiles still behind them.
"Because Scott's dealing with the Alpha twins." Stiles says causing Lydia to stop, "You don't know about the twins?"
"Alphas?"
"Ethan and Aiden." Julia gives her a smile knowing about her liking Aiden.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah, I knew about them." Lydia lies.
"Okay, good. So look, here's what we've been thinking. That the murders maybe come in threes. Ancient people love things in threes, right? So maybe first, it's three virgins, and then, I don't know. Maybe it's three people who own little dogs."
"We own a little dog." They all stop walking.
"Technically Prada is yours. I wasn't and still not allowed a pet." Julia points out.
"Technically Prada is yours as well because you help take care of them and they seem to let you love on them more." Lydia points out as well, "And we're not getting rid of our dog." Lydia adds to Stiles.
"Would you two just think about getting rid of your little dog?"
"No. And by the way. You cannot discern a pattern by a single data point. So stop trying." Lydia tells him.
"So what? I'm just supposed to wait around for someone else to die, then? I'm just supposed to sit there and watch them die? Just wait for them to wither up and die right in front of me?" Stiles asks so Lydia tells him it's not his job.
"For starters, you're a human as well. Completely normal. But these are sacrifices and it seems like an Alpha pack has a bit of knowledge about it. So it's not for someone normal to figure out." Julia looks at Stiles.
"You have a free period at the end of the day right?" Stiles asks her.
"Yeah, why?"
"We're gonna go talk to someone that's human and knows a lot about the supernatural." He walks off so she follows him now.
They end up going to Deaton in hope he could help them in anyway about the sacrifices. Turns out he already knew but wasn't try to forget about the Druids. Julia gets a phone call from Lydia telling Stiles they had to go back to school because a teacher was taken.
Deaton goes with the two and listen to the recording on the phone and try to find anything to connect this threes. They find out what the next set was and it being warriors. Lydia points out Mr. Harris could also fall under the category of a military connection. They end up in his class room to find him gone but his papers he graded spell out Darach.

Elitheocecily (Elijah Scott * Theodore Churchill * Cecily Churchill)
OK SO. theodore is an angel from heaven disguising himself as a human on earth. cecily knows this, elijah does not. theodore met cecily shortly after coming down to earth and fell head over heels in love with her like its insane how much this man loves his wife. shes literally the only reason he stays on earth. they are both best friends with elijah, whos a priest and is REEEAAAALLLYY fucking repressed and so deep in the closet its ridiculous. hes convinced himself that its actually really normal heterosexual friendship stuff to be completely infatuated with your boy best friend. he thinks hes being really covert but cecily and theodore both are aware of it. cecily thinks its really funny and theodore just finds it really endearing :) if youve ever seen singin in the rain they basically have lie the same dynamic as don kathy and cosmo its great i love them
HG^2 (Charlie "Chuck" Beaumont/Octavian "Tavi Osborne)
Tavi is a cringe-fail loser spoiled rich kid protegy who never properly developed any social skills aside from making people swoon over them. They fell off their god-complex high-horse so hard it landed them in prison for their parents' murder. (They got better, though!) (Tavi, not the parents. The parents are still very much dead.) Chuck has extreme middle child syndrome and enough guilt to strangle the horse Tavi just fell off of (figuratively) .They were so desperate for outside validation that their old girlfriend straight-up poisoned them and they thought nothing of it. Grades and success always meant the world to them until they met Tavi and discovered that reputation wasn't everything. Sometimes being "evil" can be fun, too. Between these two they could fill a lake with their self-loathing, and then fill another with their love for eachother. They are in it together to the end, along with the children they somehow manage to pick up along the way. (These two are technically Marvel/Spiderverse OCs, though they are very separated from the Canon. My partner and I have gone kinda nuts with them over the years, and their story now includes elements/characters from: Ouran High School Host Club, The Magnus Archives, Danny Phantom, Ace Attorney, Supernatural, Harry Potter (as a parody), and many more that I cannot recall.)
Tavi (or Octavian [They/Them]) is the child of two multi millionaire parents. Though they had quite the god complex as a child it was slightly dampened by their roommate/rival/friend Chuck when they got to college at the age of 16. Though they had many wacky adventures during their four years together, that soon came crashing down when their parents were murdered during graduation. So like any sane person they cut off all contact to anyone that they cared about and started getting a Doctorate (after they were miraculously proven innocent). From their they spiraled until they turned 28 and started working at their parents' old company were they run back into Chuck. Chuck (or Charlie [They/Them]) is the middle child of 8, being sandwiched in-between two sets of twins and one set of triplets, wants to noticed within the family. This is achieved when they manage to graduate highschool early and get a huge full-ride scholarship to MIT. They are lead to be roomed with the other 16 year old, Tavi. Through their four years of people assuming that they are dating (they would like to date the but they definitely don't feel the same [they do]) their time together was cut off when their mother had to got to the hospital where she would die a year later. Gets into a toxic relationship, or should I call it poisonous?, relationship with a girl named Gray. That relationship ends and they get a job at a big science place where they eventually reunite with Tavi. Though their relationship starts off very rocky they find bonding time after becoming villains against a common foe and starting a twitch together. Eventually they find a bigger bad and adopt the first villain together <3 (Technically they are Spiderverse/Spiderman ocs but do NOT follow canon very well. Their lore goes further down the rabbit whole but I feel like this gives a good impression of them both haha [I kinda got carried away is what I am saying])

Note
I was inspired by your last anon answer and the bit of «hire me Emmerdale». So I want to ask how do you envision the future ? What will you do to get the show right back on track ? Personally, I would get rid of multiple characters, there are currently 80+ characters and it’s just too much, although I will reintroduce or introduce my own characters. I will bring back the Windsors (Scott and Kelly), Daz Eden (Half brother of Andy and surrogate son of the Sugden), I will bring Adult Jean Tate ( Scott’s and Zoe daughter, unfortunately with Leah Bracknell passing, I would have to kill off Zoe) and also Adult TJ Woods (Terry and Dawn son who is also the grandson of Bob). I am torn about bringing back Jamie Tate. As my new characters, I will bring a new family with no attach to any Dales resident or secret. I want a regular and mundane British family, with middle aged parents and kids who are in the late teens to their early twenties to give company to Belle, Tom, Samson, Amelia, Noah, Gabby and Jacob. I was also inspired with how you brought up the necessity of the depiction of Matty’s identity as a trans man in today England who have more backlash against queer people by the day. The same with gay couple. Honestly I don’t hate Arthur and Marshall; I think there are cute however if it would have been up to me, I would have waited two years before putting them together, I think the actors age is restricting them too much, they are even below the age of consent. I would have wrote Arthur as having a crush on Marshall but M turning him down and then it would have been two years of unrequited love and will they/won’t they and then Marshall reciprocated Arthur feelings but it’s too late because Arthur met someone else at school and when Marshall confess his feelings, Arthur respond with anger saying he has been in love with him for the past two years, but now it’s too late. In the end, they do get together after Arthur realise his feelings are still very strong…
An absolute fantasy scenario of mine, where obviously I would write realistic storyline and bring back the community in Dales, with characters everyday life interaction and a diversity in jobs (too many vets). I will stop putting everyone together and create meaningful pairing. I will also bring back the cattiness and camp vibe of the late 90’s and 2000’s (Watch Dawn and Kelly fight in 2005 for context)
What about you ?
Ooh you've got interesting ideas anon! First of all - bring back robron (i don't care if Ryan and Danny would actually want to, in this scenario they do) and bring Liv back from the dead (what, stranger things have happened on this show) Let robron raise seb and their football team of other kids, let Liv and Vinny be happy with Chip and maybe discuss kids and how they would want to go about that. If Liv would want to carry a child or not, have sex to get pregnant or not - just a story of a couple figuring out if/how asexuality and having kids go together. I do like Arthur and Marshall together, they're cute. And even if they're underage that doesn't mean you can't tell a cutesy teen romance story with them (I mean look at the heartstopper boys or further back Jude and Connor (I think) on The Fosters. Arthur became an LGBT+ activist overnight but has 0 interaction with the other queer characters in the village. Even if his coming out was good/happy/his family and friends were supportive, it would be nice for him to talk to other people about it. With robron and Liv in the village he could talk to him, there's Ethan and Mack (I know the writers have forgotten about his flirting with Jamie and Aaron but no take backs - he's bi). He could (help) organise a proper village pride festival that actually focuses on the queer characters - and they could raise money for a charity that helps trans people. I would bring Jamie Tate back and have him be in Thomas' life - and Gabby having to deal with that. And him having to deal with his 2.0 version (Tom) working at the vets. I'd have him back at the vets too and have the awkwardness of working with Dawn - who has well and truly moved on but he still kind of has feelings for her. I don't know who he'd possibly date though - maybe revisit the flirting between him and Mack from Mack's early days.
If we're bringing in/back long lost relatives, I'd like some Sharmas to rock up in the village (maybe Jai has some long lost cousins out there) and bring back Andy and some Sugdens (doesn't Robert have a niece/cousin out there of around his age?) And I'd bring back Ellis and put him and Vic back together.
I'd get rid of WENDY, Paddy, Chas, Meatloaf, Mandy, Dan, Will, and Zak.
Definitely bring in some new characters - Ryan's brother maybe? Maybe he'll have a family to bring with him. and there's so many empty houses in the village, a completely new family would be good too.
I like Caleb and Nicky, they can stay, but I'd bring in Nicky's mother - and maybe her partner and his other siblings. Ally can stay too and he and Nicky get together properly and we get some insight in how/when they met and how long they've been in each other's lives
Moira gets to keep her farm and Kim keeps HF for now and hires Robert as her second in command.
Cain takes Nicky under his wing like he did with Aaron back in the day.
Amy and Matty get a HUGE wedding - only robron's was better - that's just the event of the year and we meet some of Matty's friends from when he lived in Manchester.
Charity and Vanessa back together - out of all the partners she's had, she works best with vanessa (and no unexpected pregnancies!)
Chloe and Sarah move to scotland to live with Debbie and only occasionally visit so Mack can spend time with Reuben - after a while they tell him they're together and are living their best lesbian lives up in scotland.
I like Bob and Bernice in the B&B - they can stay. Without wendy in the mix they'll be easier to deal with.
Liam and Leyla back together - their break up still makes no sense.
that's all i can think of for now but i'm sure just watching the show will make me yell more at my computer screen lol

Bonnie Leigh for @eslanes Evil Dead Challenge
Bonnie is Danny's on-and-off girlfriend of two years. Bonnie and Nancy do not get along, mostly because of Bonnie's frequent cheating on Danny. Bonnie, on the other hand just can't help it that she's so fabulous and hot! Bonnie is flirtatious, vain, charming and manipulative as hell - your typical sexy villain. She may also attempt to come onto others in the cabin, which may impact the plot…
i love villainous women. you know this about me. i love THIS villainous woman so much i made a playlist for her and, well, oops, now i'm attached.
Bonnie has a sob story. It's not important. You don't need to know about how she grew up crying on the swingset after school because she was only ever asked out as a prank, and you don't need to know about how her parents still misgender her even after getting a boob job that would make a stripper jealous. Nothing in her past is important, because she's a forward-looking woman. She made herself, and she's going to do whatever she wants by herself.
She loves her arm candy. It doesn't really matter who it is, but lately she's been keeping Danny around. He's a forward-thinking man, too -- no matter what she's done to him in the past, somehow he still lets her back in. He's smart. He knows what a girl like Bonnie could do to his pristine little pedestal life if he ever pissed her off.
These days, she doesn't really care for making enemies. Only one night stands, maybe some flings. Enemies are too much of a commitment, and too much energy spent on bitching without any fucking. Logistically, it doesn't make sense. That being said, she's not looking forward to being trapped in a cabin with Nancy. That girl is trying her hardest to get under Bonnie's perfect skin, and if she ever sticks her nose into Bonnie's business while they're in Granite Falls...well, everyone will think Nancy had it coming.
(private download if chosen!! thanks so much for hosting this challenge, it's a lot of fun!)

xviii: Date Night
Cat had gone out intending to patrol the city thinking Peter would be too busy for that, but then a sudden fear waked at the back of her mind: What if she hadn't caught all of Beck's helpers and now they were planning to take Peter and MJ while no one was looking?
She tracked them down (checked Peter's Instagram stories to see if he'd posted anything that day) and watched them for almost three hours. She would've stayed until the date ended but someone had been looking for her as well, and they'd finally found her on the rooftop closest to the cat cafe.
"So it's wrong to date a teenager, but it's okay to stalk him?"
Cat threw her spear and Daredevil caught it with a smirk.
"Matthew, you fucking idiot," she walked up to him to retrieve her weapon. "I could've killed you! What were you thinking, approaching me like that while I'm looking the other way?"
Matthew laughed, he let her grab the spear but when she tried to take it, he held it tighter.
"What?" She asked.
"Is your suit different?"
She looked down at the white and blue fabric. "How did ya know?"
"Are you wearing a cape?"
"It's a shield and a glider, actually," she pointed out. "It's pretty cool, wish you could see it."
He raised his hand and brushed his fingertips against the hood, he smirked. "Are those cat ears?"
"I wasn't ready for a drastic change."
Matthew's smile grew. "You're in a good mood for someone who's been watching her ex-boyfriend date someone else."
"Okay, first of all, I've had time for introspection and now I'm over him. Second, how the fuck do you know I'm watching over my ex-boyfriend?"
"I can hear two teenagers talking and they've mentioned you at least twice. Something about how cool you are..."
"Awww," Cat looked back at the cafe with a soft smile. "They're so sweet."
"I guess there's no point in asking how the mission went? I heard in the news you made your debut as an Avenger."
"Yeah, and I made peace with Spider-man."
"So everything's back to normal?"
Cat stopped to think about her answer, she crossed her arms. "I don't know what you mean by normal... My high school friends are still five years younger than me, my brother's still dead, everyone knows Copycat... and I quit S.H.I.E.L.D."
Matthew's voice lost its playfulness. "What?"
She explained that her old friend had gotten involved by accident thanks to S.H.I.E.L.D's lax security and she didn't want to work in such a place. Now she was making sure her friends were protected.
"You've been here for hours, Cat."
"So? Someone could try to hurt them as they leave..."
"I trained you well," he replied sternly. "You would know by now if someone were following them. You're being paranoid."
"I'm not."
"Stop torturing yourself."
"What? I'm not— I'm just looking after my friends!"
"The ones that are having a normal date while you sit here in the cold?"
"You make it sound way worse than it is..." Cat pouted, she avoided looking at him. "Fine. I wanted to look after them, but I also wanted to watch. It's been so long since I had a real date... If it can't be me, I'm happy witnessing one from afar."
Matthew sighed shortly, he turned and started walking. "Come."
"No, you're being annoying."
"We're going on a date."
Cat slipped almost falling off the building. She managed to pierce the floor with her spear and kept herself in place. "Excuse me?"
"An adult shouldn't follow teens without their consent. C'mon Cat, I thought that after working with a lawyer you'd know better..."
"Wait, wait— you're taking me on a date? What?"
"We'll have fun," he shrugged lightly. Matthew stopped and tilted his head a little without facing her. "What, you don't like me anymore?"
"I don't want a consolation prize."
"Ouch. You really think I'm a consolation prize?"
"I think you're pitying me and I don't like that."
"I'm just cheering up a friend. You would do the same for me, right? That's what friends do."
"Friends take other friends to dates?" she replied skeptically.
"I don't date all my friends, only the cute ones."
She bit back a smile. "I'm cute?"
He smirked. "How would I know?"
Cat got to his side and punched his shoulder playfully. "Asshole."

"Welcome to Josie's," Matt pushed the door open for her.
"This bar is your favorite?"
"Hey, I'm hearing scorn in your voice," the man frowned. "Josie's the best worst-bar here, I promise."
"I promised Kurt I would not get involved in any bar fights, Mr. Murdock, so you better be right about this place..."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you're safe at all times," he grinned.
The lady behind the bar noticed them. "Good God, Matthew, I didn't take you for a man who takes advantage of young women..."
"I'm the victim here," he joked.
"He's right, I've been planning this for three years," Cat mused. "I'm gonna get him drunk, and then I'll take his virtue."
"You be careful, sweetheart, this one's a lawyer— And a damn good one at that!"
"I'm blushing," Matt guided her to the bar and pull out a stool for her.
Cat was delighted, she didn't know what was going on inside her friend's head, but she wasn't going to stop it.
Matthew passed her a beer. "So what are you gonna do now that you have no job?"
Cat tilted her head. "Don't know... I never stopped to think what my dream job would be."
"I could hire you back in the office if you want? We could use the help."
"The thing is, you can barely afford three people," she grinned. "And I ain't cheap. Besides, isn't it unprofessional to have a date with a possible colleague?"
"You care about that now?" Matthew raised a brow, his thumb was rubbing the neck of his bottle and it was distracting her. "You had a self-discovery journey while you were away?"
"You know when you go through so many traumatic experiences you just reevaluate your whole perception of life?"
"Yeah."
"I guess I had one of those."
"Good for you."
They smiled. Cat's gaze went up to the tv and saw the news: They were nearing the end of that night's transmission, which meant no big incidents were happening. It was eleven o'clock, Peter and MJ had to be home by now, they were safe.
"I can't spend my days hanging out with teenagers, right? And I refuse to spend my twenties surrounded by the same people who looked after me when I was a kid..."
Matthew took a swig sip of his beer. "Kurt's not ready to be out yet?"
"Oh no, he's more than ready. I'm the one that's not ready to—"
"Put him at risk," he finished her sentence. "You're heroes for a reason, Cat. You're always risking your lives."
"I'm not a hero. But no, yeah, I know... I wanted him to have a long break before returning, though."
"Is that what you want for yourself?"
Cat grimaced. "No. I wanna find my place again. The former Avengers are all scattered throughout the universe and the news are calling me the face of the New team, but that team's not even real. I mean, the only available heroes are Spider-man, Nightcrawler, and I—"
"You might wanna lower your voice," Matthew reminded her. "You have an identity to hide now."
Cat blinked, she'd forgotten about it. "Right. Sorry."
"Here's some advice," Matt leaned forward. "You'll have to decide who belongs in your civilian life, and who will know you as Copycat."
"I can't make half of my friends forget the last ten years of our lives!"
"What I'm saying is that from now on you'll have to make a choice. You know people with no superpowers, and I'm sure you'll want to keep them safe..."
"Yes."
"Those are the ones that you can't talk to about your hero life."
She frowned. "But that's impossible. They know—"
"Of course they'll know, but it's better if they don't know all there is to tell," Matt finished his beer. "People get worried, and you'll have to calm them while also tending to your bruises. It gets tiring with time."
Cat looked at him intently. "Is this what you do with your friends?"
"Helps them sleep at night, and it's a time saver for me," he nodded.
"Jesus, Matthew, I didn't know you could be such a coldhearted man."
"No no, it's the opposite. I care about them, that's why I do it."
The mutant grabbed her beer and finished half of it before replying. "So what does this mean?"
Matthew tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"You telling me this. Does it mean I belong in your hero life? I won't get invited to birthdays and all that?"
"You want to be part of those?" He grinned.
"Only if you take me as your cute date."
"If this one ends well, I'll definitely think about it."
"You mean like if this ends with you taking me to your place, or..?"
Matthew laughed. "You wish."

Her body had too much energy still, she was used to fighting or training almost every day and therefore she wasn't tired after a day of just walking around the city with a friend.
Cat grabbed her earpiece and put it on her bedside table, she decided to organize her room now that she had time.
"Call Rocket."
"Connecting. Please hold."
She heard unintelligible screams and voices overlapping, when she looked up she saw Peter Quill.
"You," she made a face.
"Who is this?" Quill squinted. "Wait, I know you! You're the little weirdo that could turn into Mantis, right?"
"Can you pass the pad over to Rocket?"
Thor snatched the pad and looked at her with glossy eyes, it was clear they'd been drinking. "Cat! How are you, little lady? I see you're not so little now, are you?"
"Hey, you're still alive," she smiled at him. "Good to see you, man! How are you?"
"Ah you see, having fun," he smiled tearily. "All good on earth? What's going on? Do you need us?"
"Oh no no, no one wants that blond dickwat here," Cat replied.
"Hey, I heard that!" Quill pushed Thor aside. "Watch your mouth!"
"Or what, Starship, are you gonna cry?"
"Why are you two brainless giants yelling?" Rocket's voice came from the back.
"That's my captain!" She exclaimed. "Thor, could you please give the pad to Rocket? I wanna talk to him..."
"Sure, sure... Look after yourself, alright? Be good."
"Of course, big guy. You know me."
The god handed the pad to Rocket. "What do you want?"
"Well, you asked me to call often and it's been a month since my last call, so here I am!"
"Good."
Rocket went back to his seat, behind him Quill shouted. "Hey, your friend is a mean ass! You better tell her to shut up!"
"I heard what she said, and I agree!" Rocket sprawled on his chair and continued. "So what's new, toddler?"
Cat gave him the update, and he seemed pleased for the most part, but genuinely confused over her definite breakup with Peter Parker.
"I don't get why are you so pissy about his age."
"You might not get the concept, but people would give me eery looks if I dated a kid. That's just wrong."
"But didn't you say your new guy is like twelve years older?"
"Okay but that's different. We're both adults."
"You're being stupid, that's what."
"Well, yeah, but what's new?" She grinned. "We went on a date today."
"Good for ya, kid. As long as he treats you right I got nothing against him..."
"Look at you being protective over me..."
"I did say you and Kurt are like my children."
"I wish you stopped saying that—"
She stopped mid-sentence, she'd opened the bottom drawer of her desk and there she'd found the old letters she'd addressed to Peter during the blip. Rocket didn't seem to notice her pause, he began to talk about Groot and his demands, he wanted to pilot the ship.
"You should let him try. I mean, what's the worse that could happen?" She commented, absently going through the missives.
"Oh you know, nothing special except maybe our ugly, abrupt deaths!"
"So nothing too awful then."
Rocket cackled. "No one here gets me like you and Kurt."
"You're starting to sound like an old man. How old are you again?"
"Maybe ten, maybe a hundred."
"That sounds about right..." she chuckled.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Cat was looking for a box under her bed. "I'm cleaning my room."
"It looks dark outside, what time is it?"
"About two in the morning..."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, don't get all fuzzy," she waved her hand to dismiss it as she crawled out from under the bed. "Gotcha."
She grabbed the thick stack of papers and placed them all inside. Impulsively, she opened another drawer and pulled out an old, battered shoe box.
"So this isn't you having a case of the jitsies?"
She began looking through the stuff, pictures, and old valentine cards that were spreading on the carpet. "I'm not anxious, I'm super energized, it's different. I think... I think I'm kinda happy."
He snorted. "Good to hear."
"Yeah... it is good," she stopped for a moment to take it all in, then kept going.

Could you maybe do something with ghost king Danny attending ua, and with the dorm system they find out? I absolutely adore reveals, and I just think it would be hilarious to see how his classmates could find out, and their reactions! :)
It was supposed to be a normal night.
Everything in the day had gone perfectly. He aced his math test in Ectoplasm's class. Managed to stay awake in Cementoss' class. Absolutely kicked ass with Kirishima and Jirou during foundational heroics, and remembered to call his parents and tell them how school was doing. With enough time to spare for homework.
But just as he was getting settled in, there was a pull at his core.
His transformation came without his permission, and he realized with horror that he was in the outfit that he wore to Council meetings. Fuck-what was happening? Why was his whole body being covered with light? What the fuck was going on?
He tried to resist the pull, but all it did was make his chest ache like a motherfucker. He kept trying though, until he cried out in pain. The bright light enveloped him and in the blink of an eye he was...
In the common room?
He was floating above a sigil that had been painted on a large blanket of canvas, with candles surrounding him. Below him were his very confused classmates, and in the kitchen with a mug halfway to his face was a very wide-eyed homeroom teacher.
"Yo, what the fuck is going on?" Kaminari asked, breaking the tense silence.
"Uh...I think you guys just summoned me on accident?" He asked, stepping down to the ground. He was hyperaware of the crown of ice floating above his head, and the Cape of Constellations brushing his calves.
"We-I was trying to summon the King of Ghosts," Tokoyami stuttered out. "I didn't think it would actually-Danny, are you...The King of Ghosts?"
All of his classmate's eyes were on him. Even Bakugou had stopped whatever he was doing to look at him. In the kitchen, Aizawa's expression was expertly blank, which probably meant he was absolutely furious.
"Uh...I can explain?"
"Please do," Aizawa said as he grabbed his mug and walked to the common room. He stood behind a bewildered Tokoyami. "Please, tell me how my student is apparently the King of Ghosts."
"Well-er, you see," Danny rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he looked from one surprised face to the next. "Almost a year ago there was this big bad guy named Pariah Dark who was let out of his Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep and I helped beat him? And because I was the one that defeated him, by ghost law, I'm the one who has to run the Ghost Zone now."
"I think you misunderstand me," Aizawa says. His voice his horrifyingly calm considering the situation. "Let's rewind to the part where you're apparently a ghost."
"Oh, well, you guys all know about my parents, right? They're a little crazy when it comes to ghosts, and um-well, to make a long story short I got into a lab accident and I sort of...Died? But I'm still alive? It's-I don't really know how the science works, if I'm being honest. But. Yeah. They call me a halfa-half ghost, half human. Half alive, half...dead."
The class was stunned into silence. Danny was so nervous, he knows for a fact that the temperature dropping was his doing and not the AC being fucky again. He really hadn't wanted anybody to find out, let alone like this. And now they were going to think he was a freak. It was just like Spectra said. He's just a creepy little boy with creepy little powers and-"
"What was your quirk before you died?" Tsu asked. Because of course she was going to. She was one of the most observant kids in the class, and the was the one blunt enough to ask what everybody was now thinking. He could feel his face heat up with shame as he looked down, avoiding everybody's gazes.
"I was quirkless before my accident," he tells them. His voice his quiet, but the room is quieter. When he speaks, nobody has a problem being able to hear him.
He hates it. He hates this. He hates being the center of attention. He feels like an exposed nerve that they're all twanging, playing him until he finally snaps. He feels like there's ants under his skin and he can't help but shrink in on himself.
"Do your parents know?" Aizawa asks him. He knows about his parent's reputation as ghost hunters. For their son to be one, it certainly doesn't paint a pretty picture. But thankfully this is one question he doesn't have to worry about.
"Yeah, they do. I told them right before the entrance exam. They-they're helping me out. They've been really supportive. Honestly, I should have told them sooner."
"So do you have any other cool ghost friends?" Uraraka asks. It's enough to break the tension, and Aizawa is looking a little concerned, but not enough to keep pressing. His classmates however, bombard him with questions.
"Are you a ghost hunter too?"
"Is that why you have so many powers?"
"Do ghosts quirks transfer over to the afterlife or do they get a new power depending on how they died?"
"How do the constellations in your cape move like that?"
It's a lot of questions all at once, and Iida, thank time, forces everybody to raise their hands like their in class. But none of them...Care. They probably care that he died in the first place, but they don't care that he's a real ghost-or the Ghost King-and none of them care that he was quirkless. It's so much more than he could have ever asked for.
He looks over at Aizawa, who's back to watching from his spot in the kitchen. He's doesn't bother trying to hide his mischievous grin in his scarf like he usually does as revels in the chaos in front of him. Danny looks to Tokoyami, because it was he apparently who brought Danny downstairs. And, with a completely straight face, says some very off the wall, on brand-Tokoyami shit he's ever heard.
"What a mad banquet of darkness."

Reverse Roles and Ghostly Trio Au Mashup
Ok so hear me out- imagine this: Vlad Masters, old friend of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, ghostly protector, menace, and Mayor of Amity Park, is out one night patrolling as Plasmius when boom, a loud explosion echos from the highschool. Going to investigate, he finds a trio of half dead teenagers wrecking havoc onto said school. Soon enough Vlad finds out they're Halfas and feels a little less lonely at the cost of having to parent 3 extremely dangerous kids because who else would? Definitely not their parents that's for sure.
Tumblr media
Parental Vlad content WITH character development involving our favorite Trio. The perfect combo. I can imagine Vlad being out of town in Wisconsin when the Portal incident happened. As soon as he came back to damage reports and rumors of new Ghosts, he immediately began searching for them only to find them in the middle of destroying the highschool one night.
Tucker is a black hat hacker, often causing breaches in big companies security for money. Known as 'The Pharaoh', he was one of the more untraceable hackers, leaving millionaires broke within every attack. As a child his parents often left him with electronics (yes Tucker was an Ipad kid) and didn't bother giving him any attention, leaving him on his own for most days. He started learning how to code to cope with the absence of parental supervision. People who know him often describe him as unmannered and sloppy, putting his feet up onto tables and such. Despite this, he is relatively nice when you speak to him.
Sam is more aggressive when it comes to protesting and campaigns. She still advocates towards things such as saving the frogs but with a bat littered with nails and a riot behind her fully prepared to storm a government building. She can, will, and has assaulted government officials and most people that have anything to do with politics. Anyone who openly disagrees with her will get their jaw broken (Danny and her have gone at each other multiple times because of this and somehow still tolerate the other). She's been charged multiple times with acts of assault, destruction of private property, and more but her parents always bribe the state to let her off the hook. Basically the same as in the show but instead of trying to make her seem more feminine, her parents will actively burn and destroy anything they have not deemed 'girly enough' and verbally berate her for it. Any attempts at conversation will just end up in her ranting about planing another riot or what you're doing wrong with your life.
Danny's hands are rated E for everyone. Even children. He's considered the more feral one out of the three, continually picking fights with anyone who looks at him funny. It has gotten to the point where only Dash would even bother to fuck with him. Even though both occupants usually end up having to go to the hospital (mainly Dash) because one has an ego and the other has Mommy and Daddy issues. Obviously neither are gonna stop until one of them drops dead and even then that's not gonna happen. Jack and Maddie were too engrossed into their work to care for their children and equipment, often leaving them lying around. Jazz ended up taking care of him most of the time but someone who's only 2 years older can only do so much. Anytime he'd attempt to at least get along with his parents by 'helping' with their ghost work, they'd just tell him off for doing everything wrong. Learned behavior from Sam, Ecto Contamination, and neglect are the mains reasons as to why Danny has jumped teachers before because they gave him a bad grade, hello misplaced agression. Sam and him have gotten into many many many fights because Danny suddenly decided he wanted to fight the Nasty Burger Cashier for giving him an extra pickle. Don't even bother trying to talk to him, he'll probably bite you. (I like seeing the children unhinged ok-)
After the Portal Accident, 'The Pharaoh' suddenly disappeared coincidentally at the same time the 'Ghouly Virus' started appeared out of thin air. It comes in the form of an Email, once opened any electronics in the area with power down before Tuckers ghost decides to make an appearance. He usually ends up trashing and robing the place before disappearing, leaving the victim scarred for life and their bank account emptier than the 20 water bottles he probably has laying around in his room. Vlad ended up paying Tucker to go after bad people and to help his company find any security flaws instead. Besides showing him to use his powers for good, Vlad took it upon himself to teach him proper manners and how to act towards others.
Mourner is known for haunting politicians and the occasional Spencers. Her and Ghouly (yes, she forces Tucker to help her) have been seen multiple times breaking into buildings and corrupting computer files. If Vlad had a penny everytime she managed to convince an concerning amount of Ghost to raid the city, he'd have two pennies. Not a lot but it's weird it happened twice. Since Sam was hellbent on getting change, Vlad showed her a more pacifist way of going about things and offered to help support her cause. He has been seen going to the mall with her to buy clothes she likes.
Phantom, unsurprisingly, has a reputation for destroying property and an ongoing record of 7 buildings collapsed from his tantrums. Most Ghost don't bother him, especially since Skulker attempted to kidnap him thinking his suit was enough protection only for it to get dismantled two minutes into the fight. As much as he despises his parents, he still managed to learn a thing or two about technology. His first real one on one meeting with Vlad, the older genuinely thought he had some sort of disease before realizing that's just how he is (he ended up contracting rabies at one point but Vlad didn't notice till Sam and Tucker actively started avoiding him). The older Halfa started fighting Danny to help him relieve stress and got him a therapy animal (by therapy animal I mean a blob ghost he had Skulker catch and threatened Spectra to train) after he saw him petting a street cat to help with anger issues.

Have you ever considered Jazz Fenton/Jason Todd or Damian Wayne/Dani Fenton? What are your thoughts?
i like my ships healthy and mutual so good with these ships in a general sense.
i think jason would need to do a lot of work before he's ready to date. i am giving a firm no to jazz being his therapist in any official capacity because doctor/patient relationships aren't healthy or balanced. but the scenario i'm imagining for them is maybe jason after getting a better hold of his life and anger issues starts attending collage just because he likes learning and considers it a nice break. a place where he can pretend to be normal. and there he'd meet jazz who is attending for a semester to take advantage of their famous psych program and act as a ta. she still went to an ivy league this is a temporary arrangement. and they have some sort heroic meet cute where jazz places herself in his mind by having a level head during a crisis and being ready and willing to body slam a villain. they'll meet again after this as civilians and jason doesn't entirely trust her, because the schools psych department has a Bad history, and pretty ivy league girls don't belong in Gotham. she's also a touch too naive and chipper and far too observant for his liking. she notices that he's hurting almost immediately and probably puts together that he's jason todd a little to quickly for anyone's comfort. i imagine there would be an exchange where he tries to gaslight her like "jason todd is dead." and jazz just kinda waves him off because "who says death is the end."
i reckon he gets properly paranoid and does a background check on her and finds her crazy parents and her crazy town and ends up deciding actually the fact that she's so well adjusted is suspicious. crazy breeds crazy. where is she keeping hers.
so of course he enters full paranoia, and kinda stalking mode and jazz notices that he's stalking her and calls him out and he's genuinely startled that she notice she was being stalked at all. probably leads to an argument that has them not talking to each other until of course something goes wrong. i'm kinda imagining the sheer horror that would be scarecrow and spectra teaming up and trying to experiment on the psych students. so jazz ends up teaming up with red hood to handle the situation because she recognizes spectra and knows how to deal with her. jason is all hesitant and rude as hell to her but she doesn't care because they have lives to save. they end up saving each other back and forth and jason truly takes in the fact that jazz is a badass with some sort of training. especially because spectra is really bad for him and jazz handles that entire part of the fight.
afterwards jazz ends up revealing that she figured out red hood and most of the bats identity a long time ago. jason's slightly more willing to trust her, since it's basically been spelled out to him that her crazy is that she's been literally fighting ghosts for years. that's the kind of crazy he's comfortable with. but jazz is having none of it. just because they fight well together and he's decided to trust her doesn't make stalking her okay. she like her privacy and she wants her boundaries respected. and if their relationship is going to go anywhere he's going to have to learn to be less paranoid.
from their we could have a proper slow burn, healing fic, where jason has to deal with his baggage and earn jazz's trust and love. i absolutely see them having fantastic chemistry. bad boy/nerdy girl. jazz doesn't take his shit but can help him through the rough process that is therapy. the sass and affection would come out in equal measure. they argue about books. jason teasing jazz about being short and a perfectionist. jazz inflicted his family on him whenever possible (minus bruce because she can read the room). and that's not to mention the future plot moments, such as jason meeting danny and being faced with a protective paranoid little brother. jazz meeting the bats and dealing with seven paranoid protective siblings and their dad. ghost fighting. figuring out how the Lazarus pit relates to the ghost zone. comparing and contrasting danny and jason. jazz and harley meeting at some point. what happens when it's time for jazz to go back to her ivy league. i see a lot of potential in this pairing.
as for dani/damian. well my first thought is gremlin x gremlin dynamic. they're too young for me to think seriously about their relationship. but crushes and friendship possibly growing into something more when they're older can be a thing. for the time being though i see them as best friends who fight and tease each other constantly but who also enable and encourage each other to do the most chaotic shit imaginable. they sap each others brain cells and even though they're highly capable and intelligent and powerful, they will just do the dumbest shit. like they will do smart things to pull off the dumb shit. alfred deserves a vacation. you know damian is taking full advantage of dani's ghost powers. and dani's learning assassin skills from him. and she encourages damian to pull more pranks and he encourages her to be more ruthless. and they've stolen a concerning amount of animals. and they both struggle with issues of abandonment and inferiority. they're just chaotic and i love that for them.
you didn't bring it up but i could also see dani/billy batson being a ship though the dynamic would be a bit more fun and angsty. homeless kids bonding and going on brightly colored adventures. they would definitely bring out each others goofy sides. but also deal with identity issues and questions of mortality so angst potential is there to. family drama. friendship, having to handle things on their own. they have their lion's share of adventures. also just the mental image of this ten year old in an grown up costume introducing a 12 year old ghost clone as his girlfriend would be chaotic as hell. especially because they can't confirm dani's age without asking. she might be as old as shazam but look young because she's dead (the reality that she's technically only a year old). it's awkward. and just seeing their two figures next to each other is funny to me. meanwhile in human form they could pass as siblings. there's a dynamic here, i'm sure of it. still pretty childish as far as romance goes but fun - Hestia

The thought weighed on her heavy. "Would TJ forgive me?" Sam has assured her that he would but Y/N wasn't convinced. She didn't even know where to begin to explain to a 3 year old that the man he thought was his father really isn't his father. TJ had never called Tayler "dad", he was always just Tayler to the little boy. Y/N guessed it was because deep down, TJ knew that Tayler really wasn't his dad. The two looked nothing alike. Tayler had blonde hair and green eyes, while TJ had the dark coffee colored eyes and curly brown hair.
Sam and Danny had insisted on spending her last day in Michigan with her, before she would be packing up to drive back to Nashville. Sam had told Julie about finding Y/N in the bath tub last night. Julie had talked to her daughter this morning, asking her if she would stay longer. But Y/N wanted things to get back to somewhat normal.
"What's your plan when you get back?" Julie asked her daughter as she prepared TJ's breakfast.
"Back to work," Y/N responded monotone.
"Have you talked to Tayler?"
"Yesterday morning,"
"And what did you say?"
"He's busy, working on the album. We've got a lot of things to get done. I've got a new talent coming in for their first writing session. I've got instrument recordings to accomplish, plus a new band coming in to finish their pre-write,"
"Y/N-"
"What?" Y/N snapped looking at her mom, "I need things to go back to normal. I can't just let this whole thing. . . derail my life,"
Julie nodded and handed Y/N a packet, "I had a collauege at the firm draft this. It's just a sample of what you might be hit with, I think it's best you read it over and ask questions on what you don't understand."
Y/N furrowed her eyes at the envelope in front of her, "Child Custody agreement? What... why would you give me this!?"
"Things are going to change whether you like it or not, Y/N. You'd be foolish to not prepare yourself for something like this. I put the number of a good attorney-"
"NO!" Y/N yelled startling the whole house, "Over my dead fucking body am I going to pull my son into this mess. Jake is just a fucking sperm donor, he's not a father!"
"You didn't give him-"
"Don't even finish that sentence,"
Julie looked appalled and set her coffee mug down, "I am not sure who the hell you're talking to, but remember, you're in my house. You might be a mother, but i'm still yours, young lady," Y/N bit her lip and turned away from her mother, "I know you made your choice for what you thought was best, and you know i support whatever you wanted to do, but Jake is now in the picture. He's a fighter and so are you, and you need to be prepared."
"He can't take him away," Y/N said, her voice cracking. Julie looked at her daughter, and saw the young scared girl breaking through her tough outer shell, "You know how messed up I was after dad. . . TJ gave me a reason to live. Jake can't fucking take my reason away,"
Julie rushed over to her daughter and held her tightly. Y/N had never told Julie about those first couple months she spent in New York. Y/N made the choice to go to New York after her father died a month before high school graduation. She couldn't stand being trapped within the four walls of the home his laughter once echoed through. Julie supported her daughter, even though it broke her to be alone, but she understood her. Everyone grieves differently and for Y/N, that was running to a new city.
"He won't take him completely away, but you'll have to learn to share. If you guys can work something out without going through the court, than that's great but just know if you can't. . ."
"I know," Y/N answered quietly, "I gotta take him his breakfast,"
Julie nodded and stepped aside as Y/N took the toast and oatmeal she had made for TJ and set it down on the table. She had prayed he didn't hear her yelling in the kitchen and that Sam and Danny had distracted him. Danny held the little boy on his lap, as they pieced together a puzzle and Sam was flipping through one of the children's books.
"Everything okay?" Danny asked when Y/N sat down.
"Yeah," Y/N said setting the plate down in front of TJ and kissing his forehead.
"He wants to come over," Sam said looking at the girl. Y/N took a deep breath and closed her eyes, "I can take TJ to my parents house if-"
"No," Y/N responded, "He can come over."
Sam nodded and texted his brother that he could come over. Jake must have been waiting outside the front door, cause as soon as Sam put his phone down, his older brother was walking through the door. Y/N refused to make eye contact with him, as he walked over and greeted TJ. Josh sauntered in after him, and kissed Y/N's forehead, grabbing a seat next to her.
"How are you feeling?"
"I didn't try and drown myself in the bathtub," Y/N said, knowing exactly why he was asking.
"I didn't say that-"
"No, but that one did," Y/N said pointing at Sam. Sam held his hands up in defense and wiped the crumbs from TJ's face, "You plan on staying in jammies all day?" Y/N asked her son, who shot her a bright smile and nodded his head, "Nice try. There's the farmers market today, you still want to go and see if we can find that train you wanted?"
"Yes!" TJ yelled.
"Come on, big man, I'll help you," Jake said and picked his son up from Danny's lap. Y/N watched as they both walked out of the kitchen and ascended up the stairs.
"Are we going to act like you're not being fucking weird?" Danny asked.
"How am I supposed to act?" Y/N shrugged, "That's his son, I've already kept him away for 3 years. I can't keep him away any longer,"
"You also don't need to jump into playing house, either," Josh said and the other two boys agreed, "You're TJ's mom, his guardian. You tell Jake what's up, that there are ground rules. Just because he knows the truth, doesn't mean he gets to dictate everything that gets done. You have a routine and a life, you've had that established for 3 years. Don't let my brother bulldoze shit,"
"Josh is right," Sam said and grabbed her hand, "Don't let him control this situation. I know you want the bright, happy family picture, but don't let that be at the expense of your happiness,"
Y/N nodded, but felt like her head was swimming. She had her mom trying to prep her to share custody and the boys telling her to fight for it. She didn't know what was easier at this point, completely ignoring that Jake was even in the equation, or learning how to adapt to it. She hadn't even told Tayler the truth about TJ's paternity.
--------------------------
"Okay, sharks or. . . sea turtles?" Jake asked holding up two shirts.
"Those are box turtles!" TJ said pointing at the shirt with turtles on it.
"Oh, my bad," Jake blushed, "So the box turtles?" TJ nodded and Jake helped him slip it on over his head. Jake pulled his shirt down and ruffled the boy's growing brown hair, "How do you like Nashville?"
"I love it!" TJ said with wide eyes, "Momma and Tayler take me to the studio. And sometimes Momma will take me to Memphis. I like music, Uncle Jake."
Jake didn't know his heart could grow any bigger with love for the little boy in front of him. Hearing his own son talk about his love for music was everything Jake could ever want. His mind filled with images of Y/N teaching TJ about the history of music and her favorite artists and instruments. TJ was like Jake, curious and eager to learn.
"I askeded Momma for a guitar for Christmas, and she said maybe, but I gotta keep learning piano first," TJ said, "I don't like playing piano with shoes on though,"
"Neither does Uncle Sammy," Jake laughed, "Uh. . . what about your daddy, TJ?"
"I haven't met him yet. Momma says he's really cool though, and plays a magical red guitar," TJ explained and went over to his suitcase and found a beat up composition notebook. Jake's breath caught in his throat at the sight of the notebook. He could remember clear as day Y/N carrying it around with a vice grip. The very words to many of their songs were down on the lines of the notebook. TJ pulled out an old polaroid of a red '61 Gibson Les Paul SG. TJ handed Jake the picture carefully like it would break.
"Momma doesn't know I took it," TJ whispered, "But she said it's my daddy's magical guitar."
Jake clenched his jaw, trying to bite back tears that filled his eyes. Jake could remember the exact day she took the photo, messing around with her new polaroid camera she had thrifted from a local thrift store. Jake had gotten annoyed with Y/N and Josh fluttering around the basement taking picture after picture, that Jake had yelled at her. He would never forget the look on her face as she was trying not to cry. She had left without telling any of them as the rehearsed, and left her camera on the coffee table. It was later after rehearsal that Jake found the series of photos she had taken, most were of him.
"TJ, I-"
"Hey, buddy! You ready to go?" Sam said bouncing into the room. Sam glanced at the polaroid in Jake's hand and the unreadable expression on his older brother's face, "TJ, why don't you go see what Uncle Josh is packing for lunches. I think your mom said something about a picnic in the park."
"You gots it Uncle Sammy!" TJ smiled and ran past him and down the stairs.
"I'm guessing you still have the others that go with that one?" Sam said gesturing to the picture. Jake nodded and fished his wallet out of his jeans. He pulled out one of the polaroids Sam was talking about. Y/N sat on Jake's lap, the red Les Paul resting on her thighs as she strummed some chords, bright smiles on both their faces. On the back of the polaroid in Y/N's faint, cursive handwriting it read: 'Light My Love'. "I don't know why you waited so long to make a move on her."
"I don't know either," Jake said shoving the polaroid back into it's home, "I just thought, I wasn't good enough for her, ya know. I was just Jake, the wannabe rockstar, and she was Y/N, the next editor of Vogue or some shit." Jake shook his head, "I wanted her to soar, to fly, to do whatever the hell she wanted. I didn't know at the time we would be doing what we are doing. Playing to sold out crowds all over the world. Hell, I didn't even think we'd sell out some of the small venues we played back in the day."
"You're a fucking idiot," Sam said, "You both are."
"Thanks, Samuel,"
"There's nothing you can change now, but be there for her as best as you can. You know how stubborn she is, she's not just gonna let you in with open arms." Sam explained, "It would be different if it was just her. . . but it's not."
"I thought I could just tell him," Jake said, "Tell TJ, 'Hey, I'm your dad,' but I couldn't. I thought it would be easy. They made it look easy in Star Wars,"
"Well clearly it's not, or Y/N would've told you 3 years ago," Sam said and Jake suddenly felt guilty for the way he reacted, "She doesn't hold grudges and you know that. She forgave that dickwad Cody for ditching her the night of prom. She'll forgive you too."
"When did you get so wise, baby bother?" Jake asked Sam, standing up from TJ's bed, "What do I do now?"
"Someone had to be the mediator between you two," Sam joked, "You just be there for her. You guys live in the same city, talk it out, set something up. Baby steps, Jake, don't try and do the whole house thing quite yet."
Jake nodded and Sam threw his arm around his big brother. Jake smiled and they both walked out of the room and down to the living room of the Parker house. Y/N looked absolutely stunning in a maxi white sundress, that made her skin look even more sun kissed than it already was. Her long black hair was tied up in a pony tail with a soft polkadot scarf. Jake thought she looked perfect, as she was kneeling down to put TJ's Birkenstocks on his feet.
"You went with the river turtles?" Y/N asked her son.
"Box turtles actually," Jake said walking over to them, "Little man already schooled me on the different turtles,"
"Uncle Jakey needs to study," TJ smiled and Y/N laughed. She kissed the little boy's cheek before standing back up.
"Alright, everyone ready?" She asked looking around the living room, "Who's going with who?"
"Danny, and Sam are coming with me," Josh said and Y/N nodded slowly.
"Looks like it's us and TJ in my car," Y/N said and Jake gave a small nod, "Okay, TJ, how's your head?"
"Tough!" TJ said and knocked on the top of his head. Y/N shook her head as Jake laughed, "Come on, momma! I want to find the train!"
"Okay, okay!" Y/N said and grabbed her purse and the little boy's hand as he bounded out of the house. Jake followed behind them. He watched over her shoulder as she buckled him into his booster seat, "You want to drive?" She asked Jake.
"Yeah, sure. The farmer's market on main?" Jake asked.
"Yeah," Y/N said handing him the keys, "But you're going to probably want to park on Elmwood. Main will be completely blocked off."
Jake nodded and climbed into the driver's seat of the car. Y/N turned on her aux, and then looked over her shoulder at TJ, "Any song requests?"
"Sugar!" TJ yelled and Y/N nodded. She found the song, cranking up the sound. Jake looked at the title of the song on her dashboard and laughed to himself. He looked in the rearview mirror and could see TJ shaking his head around, completely jamming out to the Fall Out Boy song.
"Am I more than you bargained for yet!" Y/N and TJ both sang loudly. Jake couldn't help the smile that flooded his face. His lips moved and sung along to the words of the song. Jake looked over at Y/N, who's eyes met his.
"Remember when we saw them in Chicago?" Jake asked over the music.
"And Sam complained the whole time, but sang every single word," Y/N laughed, "The best 18th birthday gift a girl could get,"
"First time I kissed you," Jake said and Y/N blushed, "Or you kissed me. I can't really remember, how it all went down. But right at the end of this song."
Y/N bit her lip as Jake found a parking spot. They both climbed out of the jeep, and Jake went to the backseat, to help TJ out of his carseat. He put the little boy on the ground, and TJ turned around and held out his small hand. Jake's heart swelled and held out his larger hand for TJ to grab on to. Y/N glanced at the two as they met her on the side walk.
"I kissed you," She muttered, "It was to shut that blonde girl with the horrible high lights up. She wouldn't stop talking about how hot and 'bangable' you were. So I did something about it,"
Jake smirked and at her, "Bangable?"
"Don't flatter yourself, Jacob." Y/N rolled her eyes and spotted the other three boys walking towards them.
The small group of them meandered through the busy Main Street. Living in a small town had it's perks, everyone seemed to participate in the weekly farmers market. You could find almost anything you needed and wanted from fresh produce, to home made honey. Y/N picked up some jams and honey that she planned on taking back to Nashville. She also grabbed some produce that her mom had on her list. TJ found several crystals and soaps he thought smelled good. Jake dug through record bins to find some that caught his eye.
Jake looked over at Y/N who was smiling brightly at a jewelry vender, her eyes locked on a pair of amethyst crystal earrings. Jake smiled at the vender he was currently at and handed him some money for the woven bracelet in his hand. He walked over to Y/N and gently placed his hand on the small of her back.
"Oh!" Y/N said startled, "Do you think your mom would like these? It's your guys' birthstone,"
Jake nodded at the pair of diamond earrings in her hand, "I think so. What about these, I saw you looking at them?" Jake picked up the purple gem stone earrings that Y/N was looking at.
"Oh, I didn't bring enough cash to get both,"
"I got them," Jake said, "How much?"
"Don't worry about it," The older lady said smiling at the two of them, "On the house. You know, Saint Valentine, the patron saint of all romantics wore an amethyst ring,"
"Did he now?" Jake asked, "Interesting,"
Y/N smiled and handed the lady the money for the diamond earrings. She wrapped up both sets of earrings before handing Y/N a cute gift back. Y/N and Jake walked over to where Sam was with TJ, deciding on which train he wanted to buy. Jake kept his arm around Y/N's waist, and she didn't seem to mind it.
"How's it going, buddy?" Y/N asked the little boy, "You hungry yet? I was thinking we could go to Hudson Park for lunch."
"Why? So you can go skinny dipping in the pond again?" Danny asked with a smirk.
"I was 17!" Y/N said holding her hands up in defense, "And you two," She said pointing to Danny and Sam, "Encouraged me to do it, and then took my clothes!"
"I, am the innocent one in this situation," Danny said and pointed at Sam, "The clothes idea was all him,"
"Was it not funny though when the cops showed up!?" Sam added.
"No!" Danny and Y/N both said at the same time.
Sam rolled his eyes and handed Y/N the toy train that was in his hands, "We couldn't decide between the green one or the orange one, so we got both."
"Yeah!" TJ exclaimed, holding up the orange train in his hands, "Uncle Sammy got them for me!"
"What do we say?" Y/N asked her son.
"Thank you, Uncle Sammy,"
---------------------------------
The group ended up going to Hudson Park for lunch. Y/N sat back against a tree in the shade, as she watched Jake try and teach TJ how to skip rocks across the water. She looked down at her lock screen on her phone and sighed, the picture of her, TJ and Tayler stared back at her. She wasn't sure what she was going to do. TJ grew up knowing Tayler as his father figure, she feared it would be confusing throwing in another stranger into the mix. She knew kids adapted quickly, but just how quickly was the answer.
Y/N brushed off the thoughts and sat up straighter as Jake came walking up to her. He looked amazing, his white shirt unbuttoned showing off his tan chest, and green skinny jeans that showed off his muscular legs. Y/N had braided his hair while they ate, and he looked almost too perfect with the fallen strands framing his face. Y/N looked past Jake to check on TJ, who was now trying to catch frogs with Sam.
"Kid wears me out," Jake grunted, laying on the soft blanket, placing his head in Y/N's lap. She smiled and her hands went right to his hair, brushing the fallen strands back, "What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," You answered.
"You're a shit liar, you know that. What's up, seriously, I know it's been a lot in the past few days. And I'm sorry for how I acted about TJ."
"I am the one that should be apologizing," Y/N answered, fiddling with her fingers, "Jake. . . promise me you won't take him from me."
Jake sat up abruptly and saw the tears in her eyes, "I would never do that," He said sincerely, "Your his mother, and from what I can see, he's healthy and happy, has clothes on his back, looks well feed, super fucking smart- which I don't know where he got that from, cause it's certainly not from me-"
"Jake," You said brushing your tears back, "I don't think it's wise to tell him."
"Tell him? That I'm his dad?" Jake said confused, "Why not?"
"He's only 3 and he sees Tayler as-"
"You're fucking joking."
"I don't think-"
"I don't give a fuck. I'm his dad, I'm the father. Don't you think you've kept enough things from me, and you're going to deprive me even more of it?"
"You can be around-"
"But just as 'Uncle Jake'?" He spat.
Y/N closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She tried to push away the tears and that sinking feeling in her body. Every thought she had in her mind was going back to Jake dragging her into court and taking TJ away from her. Y/N opened her eyes and looked at Jake, who was fuming.
"I am his mother, and I say, we wait-"
"I know I said I wouldn't take him away from you, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to fight to see my son," Jake said, getting off the ground. Y/N watched as he walked away and back over to the boys and TJ. Y/N looked away from them and wiped her tears away. This wasn't how she expected her last day home to go.
