800 words, contains swearing and mention of benrey's canonical foot fetish, based off of this post (which happens to be deep in my queue rn). this will hopefully become something longer but we'll see!

Sunkist reaches the emergency meeting button before Benrey's kill cooldown is up. Under the sound of the blaring alarm he hears Gordon in the other room shout, "God, DAMMIT," but by the time everyone's audio kicks in he's composed himself well enough to sound almost convincing when he says, "What, what? Who called the meeting, it's barely been a minute, what happened?"

Benrey exhales through his nose, lips pursed. Not bad, but it's not gonna be enough.

"Grrrawf," Sunkist says, sniffing wetly at her mic for a solid five seconds, and reverse-sneezes twice.

fuuuck, Benrey thinks, watching her cast her vote and Tommy immediately follow. Feetman's screwed. Time to jump ship.

"W-wait, what?" Gordon says, voice way too high to be believable. "What'd she say, I, can someone translate—"

"i saw him too," Benrey says. "in electrical. feetman vented— me n' sunkist saw."

Gordon makes a strangled noise, and the sound of a socked foot kicking the wall between them echoes through reality and Benrey's headphones. He bites his lip to keep his growing smirk from somehow becoming audible.

"Really, Benrey? Did you really?" Oh, man, he's pissed. "Are you— are you sure that's what you saw? Benrey? Because I, I wasn't anywhere near there, so—"

"yyyup," Benrey says, casting his vote. "had to bodyguard sunkist all the way to the button, you were, uhhh—" He considers his words as Gordon laughs in disbelief. "chasin' us with a biiig knife."

"No, no, that— there could be an impostor!! And, also, what you said doesn't even make fucking sense, Benrey, because the game doesn't even—"

"There's two impostors, dumbass, that's how the game works," Bubby says. "I'm voting for you just for that."

"NO, I meant— the fucking, the Shapeshifter, they could have—"

"Well if the... person... they saw, wasn't… you, Mr. Freeman," Tommy's dad interrupts, "then where. Were. You?"

"I— I dunno, some hallway," Gordon says. "You guys are all jumping down my throat, how am I supposed to remember when I can't even catch my breath—"

"Iiii dunno," Darnold hums. "I was on cameras the whole time and I haven't seen you in any of 'em. Also, have we noticed that Forzen's dead?"

Benrey grins, imagining that twerp whining uselessly into his mic as a ghost. Benrey'd merc'd him in the cockpit. He hopes seeing Benrey pass as a crewmate now is eating him up.

"I'm the Scientist, it happened almost immediately," Bubby offers.

"Hmm!" Coomer says. "Gordon, didn't you go off with young Forcebeam early this round?"

"No! I— I mean, yes, but I didn't even—" He'd helped Benrey' corner him. Benrey'd smacked a kiss to his mic as Gordon vented away afterwards; he'd never loved the man more.

Oh well. Priorities change; shouldn't have gotten caught so early. Benrey picks at the scratched edge of his game cartridge as votes are cast and Gordon fumbles.

"It— guys, how do we even know they were telling the truth in the first place?? Both of them could be in on it, together, partners! There's two impostors, right? I bet it was Benrey who got Forzen, we all saw him go that same direction, right, and he and Sunkist could be—"

"Mr. Freeman!" Tommy sounds scandalized, hurt. Benrey bites his lip and pinches his nose shut so he doesn't laugh and spoil the whole thing. "Are you suggesting Sunkist would lie? :("

"I— Tommy, she was literally impostor the LAST ROUND. She killed you. She's been lying this whole game—"

Sunkist chuffs into her mic; the G-Man hums. "I'm afraid I… agree, Mr. Freeman." A checkmark appears next to his name as Gordon groans.

"Nooo, no, I— listen, okay, I, I didn't want to say earlier, but I'm actually the Engineer—"

"Nope!" Coomer casts his vote.

"FUCK," Gordon says, kicking at the wall between them again. Benrey hopes he's not hurting his toes too bad, though he supposes if he is then maybe Benrey'll have to help tend to them later… Maybe if he's good Gordon'll even let him try out the new nail polish he got. It's gonna really pop against Gordon's skin tone. "Did you all already vote for me? God, dammit, you guys, it— I DIDN'T EVEN KILL FORZEN, IT WAS BENREY."

"dude," Benrey says as Gordon casts the last vote, revealing: six beans for Gordon, one orange bean for Benrey, and a lime one for Bubby.

"Oh, Harold, how could you?"

"You claimed to be the Scientist, dearest, when I know well you're really the Professor—"

"BENREY'S THE OTHER IMPOSTOR," Gordon shouts. "WE WERE WORKING TOGETHER, VOTE THAT FUCKER OUT IMMEDIATELY, HE—"

His mic cuts off as his little orange bean falls off-screen. "FUCKER," Gordon hollers in the other room, followed by the crunch of delicate equipment. Red text pops up on Benrey's screen: Gor2inspanish has left the game.

crazy to me how many really good fics there are about john & the original lyctors. it’s just banger after banger as they say. anyway this is not about any particular existing fic or theory but I’m obsessed with the fact that augustine and mercy and john developed that “shorthand” language that they seemingly only use with each other. weird immortal bonds that show how much they understand each other (or how much they used to)! they’re so much! their relationship is of course incredibly fucked up but i feel like there’s this extreme and intimate hyperawareness of each other that’s become a permanent part of the way they think, something that can’t be disentangled from any of their minds. they’re the emperor’s gestures but they’re also each other’s gestures. or whatever. to me that adds another level of existential horror to john’s realization that there’s no one around to “laugh at his jokes” anymore. i mean, that is 100% his fault, but the idea of being the only person left who remembers earth is just unbelievably sad and horrible no matter who it is—so is losing the only people alive who speak your language. and right after all of those connections are lost, *that’s* when kiriona gets named kiriona? possibly in an attempt to revive another connection to a lost language? god there are a lot of layers to these people. wow

tbh they are extremely fucked up psychosexually codependent immortals! it's fic writer catnip. Also, ime, medium-sized fandoms that have a very popular juggernaut ship nearly always have excellent fic for more minor characters! there are enough people in the fandom that the pool is large, and enough content scarcity that people craft it lovingly. Anyway #blessed.

first ship ever: literally aragorn and arwen. i was obsessed with them and wanted them to be my parents. in after-school daycare i would sit in front of a whiteboard and draw a big ole castle and draw out my elaborate fantasy role play i had w a friend in which i WAS their child. this brainrot has been with me for as long as i can remember i inherited it i will live forever with it. incurable disease (liking tolkien) haver.

last song you heard: squints. well earlier i was SINGING many songs from the broadway beauty and the beast musical but that was acapella so that doesn’t count. it’s uhh. (opens spotify). well i’m halfway through doom days by bastille (doom days by bastille my beloved). so that. favorite childhood book: uhhh so i only remember really early childhood and later childhood. i know i had other favorites between like 5-8 or so. but you’re getting what i can remember ajdjwjd. as a YOUNG kid i loved “goodnight moon”. the kids book of all time. and in later childhood, outside of my obsession with the warrior cats franchise (a given), i really loved the inheritance cycle books. i need to reread them so bad SO BAD. also i need to get the illustrated edition of eragon. shakes.

currently reading: “the fellowship of the ring”. don’t look atme. don’t— look. look. when i said it’s my tolkien girlie era again. well. yeah. anyway. i am. 97-98% thru it so probably it will change to two towers. also TECHNICALLY. i am still. technically. reading “carmilla” (she’s somewhere in my room but i don’t know where oops). and also. technically. “the silmarillion” (LOOK.), because i need to actually read it all the way thru for once and not just skip to the bits about my favoritest worst guys alive who are hated by god and also do war crimes but they’re funny. so it’s. look. it. it’s okay. hey look at me. the murder is not a big deal. it’s all so catholic here. i’m more worried about that.

LMFAO Agohiru from ES21 😂 I remember when I first got into es21 back in highschool, Hiruma was my fav, but I didn't think much of Agon other than 'wow what an asshole!' and didn't like him. (Also I was a big Hirumamo shipper at the time, and I'm the type who clings onto One Ship for a character and isn't too interested in anything else lol) It wasn't until I got back into it in the last couple of years that I've come to appreciate how much fun it is to bat that asshole around, and just how loaded Hiruma and Agon's ~history~ is.

Though I guess no one person specifically changed my mind, unless you count past me vs present me lol. OH actually, what changed my mind was the fic "Independent Variable" on ff.net. I think I got back into es21 and was like 'you know, hiruma/agon totally has potential' and so was looking up fics of that pairing, and then I read that fic and was lost.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

Hmmmm oh, Merther (Merlin/Arthur) lol. Their set up as a ship is extremely juicy (two sides of the same coin?? fate ties them together??? conflict because their initial world views are diametrically opposed????) and there's soooo much fic for them, but. I just. I don't like Arthur 😭 Like, I mean, he's FINE. But the writing of the whole show is so inconsistent and there's entire seasons where he's just so shitty to Merlin for no damn reason in a way that I'm supposed to take as funny and silly which pisses me off more.

J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

I mean, most shows that have mainstream popularity that I never checked out lol, though I think one that I've seen a lot of shipping art for on my dash is Star Wars? I've seen the main movies, but I think this is from.... Clone Wars, or the Obi-wan show or something. I see a lot of Obi-wan shipped with... one of the clone guys I think lmfao.

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.

Hmmmm this isn't even a character I dislike, but whatever-- Judeau! I like him a lot tbh but I also find him shady 😂

I like how his 'friend who gives good advice and just has your best interests at heart' vibe is subverted by his personal biases and emotions, even if he'd probably deny that lol. He's flawed and it colors the advice he gives, and he even has moments that I'd argue are kind of judgy. It's what makes him interesting!

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Yes! Main one coming to mind rn because I've been thinking about Hiruma (ES21) a lot, is that Hiruma is on the ace spectrum! I'm usually pretty take-it-or-leave-it when it comes to sexuality headcanons, like I can buy most interpretations but I generally don't feel strongly about them, but with Hiruma I really struggle to see him as anything else.

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

OOHHHH. Well in Berserk, it's legit a tie between Guts and Griffith. I wouldn't like either one of them as much without the other in their orbit, and Berserk is one of those rare stories where both characters are really complex and compelling in their own way, and bring a lot of significant baggage into their dynamic lmfao. With Guts I love how sensitive he is, and the various ways in which he subverts and deconstructs the Macho Male Power Fantasy™ archetype, how at the end of the day he just wants someone to care about him and find worth in his existence. With Griffith, I love his ideals and his fragility in the face of the sacrifices those ideals demand from him, I love how much he cares and how much he gouges himself for caring, and how all of his stress and guilt and obligation still aren't any match for his love for Guts. And with both of them, I love how their upbringing informs their decisions so well to ruin everything even though they care about each other so much :')

w/ ES21, it's Hiruma lol which might be basic because he's everyone's fav, but for good reason! He's just fucking fun! I love how unhinged and demonic he is, I love the borderline slapstick loony-tunes tyle antics he gets up to, and I love his shamelessness. But I also love how accepting and realistic he is about his limitations, and how that doesn't stop him from striving for the top and going for what he wants. And like, for such an anime-level strategic genius type character, I love that such a core part of what makes him great is that he brings people together and uses teamwork and creativity to overcome everyone's various limitations. He's just-- so much fun!

And because this list is depressingly male lemme throw in a wild card-- Chase from Midnight Furies! It's a webcomic that I recently read for the first time, and Chase is the deuteragonist and a Hiruma expy lol. Which you can definitely tell, they both have the unhinged vibe and shark teeth, as well as the mysterious past and having a lot of cards up their sleeve, but I also think they're quite distinct. Obviously, Chase is a butch lesbian (which really does just add to her cool factor), but also I feel like Midnight Furies is a more grounded story compared to ES21, despite there being supernatural elements lol, and so Chase feels more grounded and realistic as a character. She's a bit more raw in her relationships to other people, and she shows vulnerability more, but she's also much more of a direct physical threat than Hiruma is. Because of that, she has moments where calculation gets thrown out the window in favor of a good ol' beat down, which of COURSE I love to see. And I think she has the capacity to be more ruthless. ANYWAY, awesome character, A+++ (please read Midnight Furies)

i have so many thoughts about bee and puppycat but i don’t know anyone else that likes it so bear with me while i ramble about how i’m feeling about the story rn

right i’ve watched lazy in space the whole way through about 6 times now trying to figure shit out and i think i have more questions than when i started .

let’s just . so puppycat is the space outlaw that was made very clear multiple times from the very first episode . the sleeping lady that was thought to be the jellyfish princess in the original youtube series is now violet, the space outlaws .. friend?? since childhood . cardamon is violets son. the island belongs to violet

bee never ages . bee got sick presumably as a child . as a result she was made a cyborg by her dad who is still alive ?? but only connects with her through the music box on her birthdays and when she needs fixed . puppycat has known bee and her dad for most of bees life .

the song said that the princess and the warlocks were after the space outlaw. the princess was killed in the first episode and the hands that follow bee and puppycat throughout their temp work are the warlocks which we found out in like ep 8 i think that’s the earliest i can remember

the stuff in the lake is said to belong to bee . pretty sure that’s all bits and pieces for puppycats ship.

i have so many questions

where is bees dad and what is his connection to puppycat, bee obviously acquired him in the first episode for a reason and as the episodes go on we learn that they’ve known each other for years, but what happened for bees dad to find him???

the hair kind of reminds me of ,, the kid (i can’t remember if he was given a name or not) ,, in the recovery team . which would also explain how cardamon has the same smiley face hammer . and also why bee gets the ‘candies’ from her dad every year and now the child said he wanted to use the candy to ‘make something better’ and soon after splitting the candy in half just like bee does when she gets them on her birthdays . and why young bee looked so much like the kid and why violet says they need to get bees dad to clean up the mess .

upon reflection i have decided the kid is definitely bees dad . i may have been a little slow with that one

wait hold on ,, was that even the princess or was it the space outlaws teacher from that one sequence in the flashback episode . if so why was she there and why did she take the space outlaw / princess story personally

anywya . what happened to bee . obviously she stopped aging because she’s like made of fucking metal now but there were previous clips of her as a young child and a baby .

what happened to violet and cardamon?? why have they been asleep for so long ?? how did cardamon wake up ??? why did they go back to sleep ?? who is cardamons dad ????

what happened to the recovery teams ship for it to end up so broken and seemingly part of the island that grew around it ???? how long has violet been asleep . will puppycat become the space outlaw again ????? how do violets tears work ????

what about the multiple bees at the end??? all 5 make up the physical bee but how??? is there any connection to the multiple puppycats in bees dream sequences ??? are they going to be able to fix bee ??? they’re leaving the planet but where exactly are they going ??? what about the warlocks ????

i have so many thoughts about this show but i’m tired and i have a rlly bad cold so i need to take a break from staring at the screen

Went through my blog again for the funsies and discovered an old, old tag game from 2016. And boy, am I shaking my head at it. Not only is 17-year-old me hilariously and stubbornly convinced she's straight, she's also very self-deprecating and generally not in a good place.

So I thought: why not answer these questions again, over seven years later, just to see how things have changed?

So here goes. The update.

MOST RECENT:

Drink: Water! I have a glass next to me right now and I'm staying nice and hydrated :) Phone call: Mom, earlier this afternoon, to make sure I'm still healthy and haven't died from acute Moved Out And Living Unsupervised Disease. Shockingly, I'm alive and well. Text: Dad, joking about the Berlin lioness boar thing. I still refuse to believe it was a boar BTW. I don't know what it was, but those pictures do NOT look like a boar.

Yourself: Mostly yes. There are some things I need help with before I can unlock my full potential, but one thing I've learned is that I always manage in the end. Love at first sight: Not for myself, I need to get to know a person before I fall for them. I do believe in attraction at first sight though. for julie i don’t hate anyone but lowkey i kinda hate those boys on the grounds of the fact that before i watched the show every post i had seen about it was ONLY about the boys and i didn’t even know who julie was or what she looked like because no one ever talked about her despite her being THE TITULAR CHARACTER like come on besties… for shadow and bone i’m not involved in fandom for that but from what i remember seeing back when season one came out and people were talking about it was that there was SO MUCH discourse about kirigan/aleksander/the darkling whatever the FUCK i’m supposed to call that man. well that didn’t make me hate the character but it DID make me realize that fandom was annoying as hell. the wilds… idk i don’t think i hate any fan favorites in the wilds. i think some people went too hard for shelby and toni tho. oh actually and kirin. yes i know i participated in loving that guy. i’m different tho. i’m never the problem haven’t you heard….

i don’t think i know any fandom opinions about julie i’ve never really engaged with that. i assume though that there are people that ship luke and reggie and call julie a lesbian to push her out of the way. so that. no i don’t know that, i don’t know what i’m talking about I’ve just been around the block and i assume that’s a thing people in fandom do/did. shadow and bone…. well i think discoursing about whatever the hell his name is is dumb. i haven’t read the books yet but he’s well written enough in the show that there’s clear nuance we don’t have to do black and white morality discourse idk. as for the wilds…. when people were arguing about who we should ship for a potential third season and everyone was like omg martha and bo!! like. 😐 just say you want my girl martha to die goddamn. also true about every martha ship people tried to push. all of them would have been bad sorry. except maybe one. which i won’t say. unless….

well. JULIE. oh my god why does no one talk about julie ever it’s ridiculous she is the TITULAR CHARACTER…. like was i just in an insane bubble at that time or something?? well i still never see anyone talk about julie when they talk about the show so idk. idk but i love julie a lot she’s my favorite :) this is also true for alina but i’m definitely in a bubble for that one. hm idk what the widely disliked in fandom characters are in shadow and bone so i can’t really speak on this one. do people hate mal? i’m just guessing that based on his gale-ism, there’s probably people that hate him right? well EYE think he’s neat, he’s alina’s best friend, they’ve been there for each other nearly all their lives…. he’s a brave man but deep down he’d rather be taming horses…. i like him!!! and the wilds. well. i liked raf, nobody else liked raf, he had that problematic swag and those big brown eyes he was like a pathetic little lamb to me idk. also leah but i think people warmed up to leah in s2, more people didn’t like her in s1. so like we won on the leah front fr!!

normally I don’t do these kinds of things but im just so... DIGIMON rn i cant NOT. Warrior Cats and Digimon are my Main Obsessions Always and like i can draw warrior cats but i cant draw Digimon cause Humans and Outlandish Monsters lol

Favorite Over-all Character? Koichi Kimura!

Favorite Googlehead? Tagiru! I just like his spirit. I also really like Mikey, and how well they play his flaws, because Mikey’s a really genuinely good guy and great leader in ways that Tai and others aren’t, but it’s also Mikey’s flaw because he tries so hard to be good and to give to others that it’s shown to physically and mentally hurt himself, which is a really interesting route to go! ...I love how I talked more about Mikey than my actual favorite Tagiru lol. Idk, I just think Tagiru is Davis but better, and I like how fiery Tagiru is, plus his partner Gumdramon is awesome

Favorite Blue Bestie? ...Ken? He’s literally the only one that’s NOT blue lol. So if I had to pick an actually blue boy I’d say... Koji? Kiyoshiro is also a strong contender

Favorite Redeemed Evil? KOICHI! KIMURA! Can I just say HIS plot twist was the only one i NEVER EXPECTED??? And I can answer you why: I was so young watching the other Digimon seasons that I couldn’t remember my reaction to the plot twists and just knew them as facts, OR I was too old watching the other seasons that I predicted or just accepted the plot twists easily. BUT KOICHI’S???? I was just the perfect age of “can remember my reaction to this, but not old enough to theorize properly.” I remember when we first say Koichi on the train flashback, I thought it was Koji! I thought Koji got sent back too. So when I learned Duskmon (Koichi) was KOJI’S TWIN, I flipped my shit y’all! ALSO! Koichi is a dark lion how could I not love him lol.

Favorite Digimon? If I had to pick a ‘mon to be my partner: Gatomon, duh. But favorite digimon character? Probably Gumdramon for his backstory (wild child!) and personality, but Gammamon might potentially usurp him. Renamon and Impmon are some of my favs for their friendship though!

Favorite Partnership? Hm, Hiro and Gammamon for the big brother-little brother relationship? Or, Kiyoshiro and Jellymon just because they’re like the only male human-female Digimon pair and I like their dynamic. Really, I like any partnerships from Tamers or Ghost Game best; they feel the most natural, realistic and flesh-out in those seasons. Meiko and Meicoomon are an honorable mention

Favorite Series? GHOST GAME! It used to be Frontier, and Frontier will always have a special place in my heart, but Ghost Game is so freakin’ good. So, Ghost Game, then Frontier, then Hunters. I like the ones that are least liked lol. I like GG just cause of how polished and cool it is, but I love Frontier for nostalgic reasons plus the kids turning into Digimon was so unique and I loved its movie. Hunter just because I like the concept of ‘hunting’ the Digimon like theyre Pokemon lmao :)

I prefer watching dubs, though, and tend to stick to English names and such, but I’ve read enough Japanese names fics and obviously Hunter and Ghost Game only have subs, so I’m more than used to Japanese names and versions, and prefer it in some ways (Yuu > Ewan supremacy).

Favorite Ship? Oh, Daiken (Ken and Davis/Daisuke) hands down. You can’t even convince me they’re not gay with the “I can feel your beating heart” bullshit. Is this even a question? Other than them, I also really like “Ken crushing on TK bcus of when TK hit the Digimon Emperor” and also Tagiru X Yuu/Ewan! But also I’m very flexible in my ships lol. cause I also like Yuu x Airu. ALSO Tai x Sora x Matt supremacy! Digimon Tri really solidified and made me love the hell outta that polyam ship.

Favorite Headcanon? That Kari is asexual aromantic! She has no interest in guys (or gals) but feels pressured to. She really feared that her best friend TK would want to get with her and it would all be ruined, but unknown to her, TK was in a similar situation! He was aspec but thought he was pure straight, and was thus a serial dater and a bit of a “player” cause he couldn’t really keep a girlfriend due to having no real emotional attachment to them/fading interest and him always wanting to hang w/ Kari instead. He’s likely demi and only has feelings of attachment/romance for Kari, but he’s also possibly asexual, just uncertain. He and Kari end up as queerplatonic bf/gf! Kari gets the relief of always having her bestie with her without any pressure to be “romantic” or, to her absolute horror, sexual, and TK can feel secure and loved without worry <3

Favorite Digimon Fan-media? Obviously The Ultimate Gathering of the Digidestined is awesome, but its literally a crime if you’ve never read the comic Digimon Frontier Re-Birth. Literally @digimon-fr is the fucking best. as far as im concerned its canon and I love Geopardmon and Nachtmon, darkness babies

fma 03: the reviews are in

ending - sucks ass. made me sad. felt inconclusive and lame as hell

worldbuilding - not as good. the earth thing came outta left field and the wars were glazed over. honestly i think they just didn’t get as deep into it, but they dealt w the ishvalans pretty well. also the earth thing

theme - “if you work hard you’ll get something back” feels like some sorta propaganda ew tf

the beginning episodes: wtf show was that

the fighting: i can’t lie it was fucking beautiful? i don’t remember any of the brotherhood fights being this breathtaking like i rewatched a bunch of them actually. the final blow to greed? the way got got envy into that headlock? and then took out his knee?

the openings and endings: 100% more memorable that brotherhood’s openings and endings. one of the most enjoyable parts tbh i caught myself singing one at work the other day

ed and al: split up at the end and personally i am sad so objectively it’s bad hope this helps

sgt brosch: his name is not fucking block. also they said “ishbal” the whole time. v annoying

hohenhiem: not sexy and not very forgivable. i hate him. forgivable isn’t rlly the word i’m looking for it’s like he’s harder to identify with and he doesn’t carry the same guild brotherhood hohenhiem does. he doesn’t feel fleshed out and also he looked like shit the whole time

ed: i’m gonna be honest i like 03 ed a lot like he pisses me off too but he’s so. him. only character that doesn’t feel out of character. and he faces so much of his old trauma in such him ways and breaks and UGH. i love him

Another Star Wars AU, TBN*

*To-Be-Named

I love time travel. A lot. So here is a time-travel au, with the CW trio.

Somehow, perhaps by touching a Sith artifact, perhaps by the Force deciding they should, perhaps from some sort of weird ritual the locals were performing that the trio didn't know about, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Anakin, Rex, and Cody travel aback in time.

[Please keep in mind that Canon Timeline has died tragically in a fire, and I am but the weeping widow with an inheritance.]

Due to whatever happened, they all also end up (technically) deaging. They still have their memories and their knowledge and skills, just stuck in smaller bodies. They can think and act like adults, but they also have to struggle a bit more to implement Older Skills in Younger Bodies.

Ahsoka is 2. She's nubby. She's emotional. She's tired and sore from her deaging.

She wakes up in someone's office. She's in a spinny chair, a big one with leather padding. It's kind-of chilly in the room.

She's not thinking, because all her brain is putting together is that she's still tired. She grabs the jacket off the back of the chair and pulls it over herself. She goes back to sleep.

Rex and Cody wake up together.

They are their actual age, which is to say they're both about eleven.

They find themselves on Mandalore. In the more wild areas.

(let me believe that there are parts of the planet that aren't covered in city)

(also, this is the Mandalore in the cartoons)

They find a teen trying to wake them both up. Rex has absolutely no clue what's going on. Cody has a vague idea, because this girl looks very similar to a picture he once saw...

Obi-Wan does not fare as well. He is 3.

He wakes up in someone's arms. He's just as tired and sore as the other three. However, he's also got more awareness because he's in someone's arms.

He looks up to see who's carrying him.

He looks around at the people walking with them.

He starts crying. He cannot help this, as he is suddenly flooded with Emotions, and he is Smol. Smol = harder to handle Emotions.

Because Qui-Gon is walking right next to him, tapping away on a holopad as they go. Dooku is on his other side, on a comm call where both parties sound very tired.

And Obi-Wan is being held... by Obi-Wan.

So, yeah, not that great for a suddenly Smol Obi.

Now, Anakin is 8, so he's better off in that perspective.

But he wakes up on some remote planet without anyone around. He just was in the middle of a group, so he ends up kinda panicking.

Then he hears something coming towards him, and he panics more.

He's Tiny! He's Smol! He's massively at a disadvantage against attacks! He can't fight off whatever is on a planet like this!

It's Mace (and Depa).

Anakin, however, doesn't realize this. He has gone Feral.

Back to the beginning

Jango Fett has been very busy w/Important Mand'alor Paperwork all day. He finally has time to go and relax a little, and he makes it all the way down to the exit before he realizes:

It is really cold outside. He is not in armor bc he was planning to only do paperwork today (though he still has many weapons). When one plans to stay in the same room for almost the entire day, one does not wear normal garb.

That said, he has no protection from the cold. He forgot his jacket upstairs. He rushes back up to his office.

He distinctly remembers that he left the jacket on the back of his chair, not on the seat.

He also is wondering what that lump is.

He arms himself, grabs some of his "emergency" armor plating, and walks over to the chair.

He lifts his jacket up, expecting a bomb or some paperwork that fell off the desk, or something logical.

He does not expect to find a tiny Togruta child clinging onto the fabric, whining as they're woken up by his yanking of the jacket.

Jango's brain stutters for a moment, then he kicks into action.

First things first, he wraps the jacket around the Togruta. They thankfully stay asleep. Then he turns up the heat, because he knows the office has gotten colder in the twenty minutes or so he's been gone, and Togruta are from warm temperate zones.

He decides to call, in this order, a guard who can help him watch the Togruta (they did break in, after all), a medic to check the Togruta’s health, and the first person he can find in his contacts that might know an adult Togruta.

Next group

Rex and Cody manage to get the teen to stop fussing over them for long enough to ask for her name.

Her, clearly lying, but that’s understandable: My name is Ine.

Cody, who knows exactly who this is now: Oh, kriff. You’re Duchess Satine, aren’t you? Kriff.

Rex: Wait, Satine? As in the General’s Satine?

Satine, now very suspicious and reaching for her stunner: I think you need proper medical attention.

Cody, looking down at their eleven-year-old selves: Yeah, I think so, too.

They agree on one thing, at least.

Obi-Wan is crying. Loudly, uncontrollably, w/too many Emotions to even care that he’s supposed to be an adult rn.

Other Obi-Wan is very uncomfortable, bc he doesn’t know how to handle children too well.

They found this kid unconscious in the middle of a ruined, abandoned town.

Obi-Wan was meant to hold this kid while Qui-Gon did research and Master Dooku tried to convince the Council that it was entirely necessary to bring the kid back to Coruscant. Granted, they can still give the child to the locals at any time before they make it back to their ship, but apparently the Force is Being Loud.

The Force was Being Loud when it told Master Dooku to come along.

The Force was Being Loud when it led them to that town.

Qui-Gon and Dooku have argued fifteen and a half times on this mission, and an additional six times on the flight here. Obi-Wan is trying to mediate but also doesn’t want to overstep. The Force is Being Loud, sure, but the kid is also Force-sensitive so it might be something off that.

He didn’t argue with holding the kid bc he thought that it was better than being caught between the Masters.

Holding a crying child and trying to get two adults to stop arguing bc they can’t decide how to comfort the kid is not better.

Obi-Wan keeps walking past them to the ship with this baby. He does what he’s seen some crechemasters do to the younglings. The kid eventually calms a little, and he belatedly realizes that both Masters are still behind him, not with him.

Anakin is panakin.

He is currently in a state of Feralness. His instincts have kicked into overdrive, full-on Survival Mode.

Depa and Mace do not know this. All they know is that there was suddenly an extremely powerful Force presence that started fading quickly (bc Anakin started shielding).

They burst into sight of Anakin and are suddenly attacked by all four feet and some of Feral Force Child.

It’s all they can do for a good minute or so to avoid losing their fingers, eyes, or untorn clothes.

Mace puts a few things together very quickly.

This planet is uninhabited by any sapient life. Therefore, this child is utterly alone. This child also is clearly strong in the Force, and knows how to hide their presence, for whatever reasons. Mace is a Jedi, and therefore is bound by certain duties.

He decides it is his Duty to get this kid back to Coruscant safely.

Back to the beginning

Ahsoka wakes up to find a familiar face looking down at her. She’s still tired, but not as much. She’s very aware of her size, and does a few quick observations.

She does not fully know who Jango Fett is. She does know that some clones run off bc they hate war and weren’t given a choice an- no. Not going down that path yet.

Ahsoka assumes, semi-incorrectly, that she was shrunk or deaged and somehow found by a rogue clone.

She knows it’s a rogue clone bc they’ve got weird armor.

So she does the logical thing and tries to comfort this clone bc he looks really worried and kinda panicked. She stands up on the spinny chair and tries to balance and he practically lunges to help her and she can’t help but giggle, but it comes out in a bunch of chirps instead.

The clone picks her up and looks really awkward so she pats his face bc that’s the best she can do bc she doesn’t want to disprove the fact she’s two yet.

For all she knows, this rogue clone has no idea she’s actually a Commander in the GAR.

He doesn’t, but for different reasons than she thinks.

Rex and Cody go with Satine to the city. They have introduced themselves and said that they were separated from their aliit. They don't know where said aliit is.

Satine is highly suspicious by this point, bc these two kids recognized her with only part of her name, and they were alone, and they speak Basic with Mando'a thrown in.

Basically, she thinks that they're children of people like Death Watch, but she's too young to know that Death Watch isn't really into children.

Rex and Cody get checked over by a medic, but also start trying to get access to some working comms. They are refused on account of being suspicious children (which makes them a little upset bc they're not children)(Well, they are, but not those types of children)

They have not yet figured out that they are in the past, bc Cody and Rex only know that General Kenobi talks about Duchess Satine, and they know about Padme Amidala from General Skywalker, so clearly this Duchess is really young and the General simply viewed her as someone he wants to protect.

They are very very very wrong.

Obi-Wan manages to calm himself somewhat now that it's just him and... him.

He is three, and he knows roughly what's happening, so he knows he should probably act like a 3yo.

Unfortunately, he has very little understanding of how child ages work. 3 is smart enough to go up the stairs and communicate with adults, but def. not old enough to speak sentences that are 15 words long with at least 2 5-syllable words.

Fortunately, his older (younger?) self doesn't know children either.

So when this 3yo starts telling him that he needs to leave the two Masters on the planet and head to Tatooine really fast, Obi-Wan is more concerned about the idea than the strangeness of "this is a 3yo suggesting this".

Obi-Wan is really good at convincing people. Including himself. He manages to get Padawan Kenobi to leave supplies where the ship is supposed to be and head towards Tatooine.

He says that the Masters will be fine, they know how to survive, and they need to be alone together in order to work through all the tension. Plus, it gives them plenty of time to talk to the Council.

Toddler Kenobi also tells himself that he'll take the blow and say he used a mind-trick.

Padawan Kenobi doesn't believe him yet, but Toddler Kenobi smiles like a very smug adult and says "you'll get there eventually". What he truly means is up in the air.

Anakin, since waking up, knows much less than everyone else. Which is saying something.

He knows he's Smol. He knows he's Alone. He knows Someone has come and they are Strangers.

One thing about Anakin's instincts is that they are very much Survival Based. He was Feral when he joined the Jedi, only he had to hold those instincts back for most of his life bc of being a slave.

A slave cannot bite someone who approaches and Vibes Wrong.

By the time he felt okay with being Feral Out Loud, he also felt safe enough that he didn't need to activate his Survival Mode.

What I'm trying to say is that Anakin does not realize how strong his Feral Instincts are. He has absolutely no control over them rn.

When Mace decides to Help this child, this child is trying to Maul them.

Mace makes a small ruckus to draw Anakin's attention to him so Depa can move back. Depa pulls out her saber now that she won't hit the kid. The kid notices Purple and Bright and Lightsaber.

Lorge Jedi Mind says this is Good. Safe. Jedi.

Smol Feral Brain says this is Dangerous. Mean.

Anakin freezes on sight and just starts tracking Depa's saber. She does one of those things where a snake or something is focused and the person waves the fire or the food slowly to make sure the wolf is watching it and usually they toss the thing away so the snake follows it.

Mace instead takes this opportunity to wrap Anakin in his cloak. And Depa's cloak. And the spare ones in their bags.

Feral Child is not happy with this. Feral Child is also unable to scratch or Maul or do things other than bite and snarl.

Depa carries Feral Child while Mace comms the Temple and they walk back to their ship.

The Temple is having a field day.

First, one of their Shadows reports that a well-known bounty hunter got an emergency message from a pal of theirs that said Jango Fett needs help learning Togruta childcare.

Then they get a call from Dooku, which is not the mission report they wanted.

Yoda: Mission report, you have?

Dooku: Of a sort. We successfully spoke with the locals, then went to investigate a rather large disturbance.

Mundi: A disturbance?

Dooku: We found the source to be a Force-sensitive child.

Mundi: So you are here to ask for more time on the planet?

Dooku:...

Yoda: Bring the child back, you wish to?

Dooku, unapologetic: He is of an acceptable age to be admitted into the Temple, and no other beings were around at the time to entertain the idea of there being guardians.

The Council is sighing and muttering bc this is a Disaster Lineage (and they haven't even met the other two yet). Their call is interrupted by the sound of crying and Dooku saying the child's woken up.

Then there's another Shadow who sends a message saying a set of twins that seem like Death Watch were found by the heir of Clan Kryze.

Finally, to top everything off, they get a call from Mace Windu and Depa Billaba. Two very dignified, not-at-all chaotic Jedi from a perfectly respectable lineage.

Yeah, most of the Council and the Order itself forgets that Yoda had a hand in raising Windu. Yoda "Feral Grandpa" who throws children at every problem. Grandson isn't doing too well? Throw a child his way. Other grandchild is struggling to cope with grief? Throw another child their way. Oh, there's a war going on and newest grandchild is angry a lot? Here's a child!

The entire lineage has a soft spot for children.

Anyways...

Mace: Our mission was a success. We found the artifact and both specimens.

Koth: How long until your return?

Mace:...

Yoda: Found a child, you did?

Gallia: Master Yoda, that's a rather illogical guess. Once is unusual, twice is-

Mace: Oh, did Qui-Gon find a child as well?

Yoda, smugly: Bringing the child back, are you?

Depa, from the background, after a rather loud snarl is heard: We do not bite things, young one.

*more snarling*

Mace: We have no reason to believe he was not alone.

Tiin: *deep sighing*

Mundi: *mild confusion noises*

Koon, eagerly: Please send photos of this youngling. For the archives, of course.

Mace, nodding sagely: Of course.

*extremely loud yowl* *sounds of Mace turning*

Mace: DEPA!

Depa: He nearly bit off my finger!

Mace: That doesn’t mean you pinch him!

Depa: What else am I supposed to do?!

*sudden exclamation filled solely of Mando’a, Huttese and Twi’leki curses*

Mace: So, I don’t know if he speaks Basic, but Master Che should be able to talk him through a check-up.

Yeah, several Council members are experiencing headaches now. Normally, they would have some empathy for Mace and his own stress-induced migraines. They currently do not.

Right after that call, Dooku calls back to say that Obi-Wan has left without them.

Mundi: He left the child with you, right?

Dooku:

Mundi: He left the child with you, right?

Obi-Wan did not leave himself with the Masters. Obi-Wan has listened to Mini-Obi and is off on some wild space adventure to a criminal-run planet.

The toddler won’t stop staring at him. He asks for a name. The kid says to call him Ben.

OW: Is that your name?

“Ben”: It is a name I am called :)

OW: That isn’t what I meant.

“Ben”: I know :)

Ben also keeps staring at OW’s lightsaber. OW decides to make sure the kid doesn’t start playing with it when he isn’t looking.

MEANWHILE

Ahsoka has figured out that she was really very oh-so wrong. She’s on Mandalore. As in, the Mandalore that is under Jango Fett. Bc she’s with Jango Fett. He’s holding her hand bc she was nervous about the strange looking medic (who was just wearing armor, but not clone armor and civies don’t wear armor.)

Ahsoka knows very little about Jango Fett. Clone Buir, Mandalorian leader, tried to kill Master Kenobi. Also dead.

He asks how she got in. She shrugs. She is too small to fight back so she can’t let him know anything. Whatever everything is right now. But also, he doesn’t seem mean or evil or anything.

Oh yeah. Skyguy said that Mandos love children. That's why the clones were so protective of her, even with Skyguy on her side of the argument.

She decides to use this to her advantage. She can probably get herself a comm, and enough time to call the Temple. If she can convince them she at least knows a Jedi, then they can come get her and she'll work from there.

ELSEWHERE

Rex and Cody are getting really upset. This Duchess is really nice, but she's acting really weird and keeps insisting she's not actually called Duchess. No one will give them a comm, they keep getting weird looks for speaking Mando'a even though they're on Mandalore, and Satine's father keeps mentioning a Fett. Maybe Boba's set a bad example again.

Rex starts to fall asleep, to his chagrin. He's too bored, sitting and getting some abnormally extensive check-up. Cody is fine, but he's used to the calm that is General Kenobi. Rex usually has a Togruta teen in the vents and a Human that is never where he's supposed to be.

Rex does, in fact, fall asleep. His "twin" starts glaring when a doctor goes to wake him up. Cody makes it clear that his brother is like Cat: once asleep, you do not wake.

Satine is giggling, but trying not to let the others hear. Cody does. Cody looks at her. They have a stare-off.

Cody goes back to glaring at the doctors. He will not admit to any emotions besides Protect™.

BACK TO

Obi-Wan and Ben have made it to Tatooine.

(I accidentally originally wrote two variations of part 10, so you may have already read this, but I have altered it slightly to make it work following the true part 10 and re-labeled for future convenience/so we are re-organized and accurate pre-part 12 which is dropping soon!)

“Watch out for Daphne,” Ida warned.

“Daphne?” Lou asked. “That an ex girlfriend of yours I should know about?” The blonde teased, brushing shoulders with Debbie as she merely laughed.

“You wish,” Debbie smirked. “That’s Daphne,” she grinned, gesturing to a little white ball of fluff that was jumping up and down beyond the glass patio door.

“Yippy little thing,” Ida smiled. “So much energy. Just watch out for your ankles, Lou. She likes to nibble.”

“Who could blame her?” Lou tried to joke, glaring daggers at the little dog as they moved into the house, Debbie laughing at the almost 6 foot tall woman shooting murderous looks at a dog that could fit inside a purse.

“I take it you’re more of a cat person?” Debbie whispered.

“You know I like pussy,” Lou rolled her eyes, starting to walk ahead faster to keep up with Darlene as Debbie tripped over herself a bit, her cheeks turning pink.

Debbie cleared her throat, trying to shake ridiculous thoughts and images from her mind as Ida held her back, Debbie left looking forlornly at her mother as she carted Lou away from her. She couldn't hide her nerves from her grandmother.

“So," Debbie started, taking a deep breath. "How exactly did you hear that we were getting married?” Debbie asked.

“You mean besides that crater on your finger?” Ida laughed. “I may be old, but I’m far from blind, Deborah.”

Lou tossed her a smirk from a few feet away as if applauding herself for the impromptu ring selection.

“I mean we had our guesses,” Darlene giggled, turning around as she pinned Lou to her side, elbowing her with a grin. “Debbie’s always so secretive and work keeps her so busy we barely have time to talk, even when she has news. No offense to you, Lou, dear. But you run a tight ship. But a mother always knows, right? And then there was that man from the government? I can’t remember his name. But said he was checking up on you two.”

“Checking up?” Danny asked, raising an eyebrow, unceremoniously dumping their belongings behind the couch. Dennis already nowhere to be found. He was always disappearing. To watch the game. Into his study. Out by the water. It barely phased Debbie anymore. Even if she was here to announce her engagement and had flown here specifically to share that with her family. Not that any of this was real...

“Lou’s from Australia,” Darlene continued, as if it wasn’t obvious from the accent.

“Crikey,” Danny whispered, rolling his eyes just as Debbie pinched him, the older Ocean crying out in protest.

“You would think they’re still in elementary school the way they act around each other,” Ida snorted. “Don’t let them get to you, dear,” Ida smiled, reaching out to pat at Lou’s shoulder as she smiled awkwardly in response.

“What did you say to him, mom?” Debbie asked, pushing Ida’s hand off Lou as she smacked Danny a second time for good measure. “Seriously.”

Darlene shrugged, her eyes turning to study Lou as Debbie watched the blonde's eyes grow wide with overwhelm.

“Just that you were coming home this weekend and we hadn’t seen you in a while,” Darlene spoke, turning back to her daughter. “And that you’d told us about Lou for years, but that we’d never met her.”

“I mean, Lou, dear,” Ida laughed. “The way Debbie talked about you? I’ll admit, I did not see this coming.”

“Me either,” Lou smirked, winking at Debbie as her cheeks flushed red.

“Come on, honey,” Ida smiled at Lou, taking her hand gently. “Let me show you around the house. Deborah can play some catchup with her mother for a few.”

Lou seemed genuinely grateful for Ida’s sweetness, but also shot Debbie a desperate look, not ready to be separated without a chance to set their stories straight before they were each isolated with a family member, but Darlene wouldn’t hear it, shooing Lou and Ida towards the other room as Danny fumbled with their bags again, pretending to be helpful no doubt, but not actually caring.

“Deborah,” her mother frowned, eyeing her seriously for a moment. “You know you can tell us anything, sweetie, right?”

“Of course,” Debbie sighed, kicking at the tire as she looked down at the driveway.

“Then what’s with all this secrecy?” She whispered. “And I mean, of course she’s stunning. That’s clear. But the way you’ve spoken about her for all these years…”

“It wasn’t a secret,” Debbie sighed, feeling defensive. “We just…didn’t tell anyone, alright? I mean it’s hard. I’m her assistant. She’s high up at the company. What would people think? What did you guys think? Things…change, mom. I don’t know.”

“They do say the line between love and hate is rather thin,” Darlene thought aloud, considering her daughter for a moment. “I should be mad at you. But gosh, I’m just so excited! I mean a wedding! Debbie, this is big.”

“It really is,” the brunette grumbled, starting to follow her mother towards the house.

“Oh!” Darlene exclaimed, suddenly spinning around. “I have the most wonderful idea! Danny, listen. What do you two think? For Ida’s birthday this weekend. What if you and Lou got married right here?”

“What if pigs could fly?” Danny snickered under his breath as Debbie swallowed thickly.
