When will some people realize that “Waiting on a Miracle”- isn’t Mirabel saying “I’m sad and depressed because my family outcasts me and treats me like shit”-
It’s her saying- “I can’t keep lying to myself anymore, I feel like I don’t belong in this amazing family, and I want to make them proud and show them that I can contribute to them in my own way.”
The song isn’t about how her family views her or treats her, it’s about how SHE views her family, and how she feels about it.

Another Encanto rant (fandom rant)
Another random Encanto take but I personally never thought Pepa, or even the whole family was villainizing Bruno in “We don’t Talk About Bruno”. A lot of fans seem to say that the whole family sucks because they painted him out as some villain only to go “jk we love you” in the end, and it’s one of those things where I can definitely see where they’re COMING from, but I disagree. So here’s my two cents. First, the only people who painted Bruno out to be some creepy monster was the VILLAGE. The village never understood how his power worked, and they instantly jumped to conclusions. The Madrigals however are his FAMILY. They knew him, and while they know that he’s not some monster, that didn’t mean they couldn’t be upset with him. We know that Alma was upset because she thought that he didn’t care about the family (since he left). As for the song, we know that after Bruno left, they all just stopped talking about him at one point because he was a sensitive topic, NOT that he was some monster. He was just gone, and they didn’t know why. They didn’t know if he was dead, if he left because he hated them, WHY he left, he just LEFT in the family’s eyes. A lot of people seem to forget that, because while we as the audience know why Bruno left and that he deeply cares about his family, the characters in the story DO NOT.
10 years had past, which gave the family time to just get over him and now they don’t talk about him. When Mirabel brings him up in probably the first time in YEARS, everyone is quick to say they don’t talk about him. Pepa tells her that one day on her wedding, he told her it looked like rain and that made the hurricane come. She’s explaining her frustrations towards him, but she’s not VILLAINIZING him guys. She only said “Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin” because it’s clear she thought he was purposely messing with her or she legit thought it was a prophecy, (judging by what he said in the ending, I guess she thought it was a prophecy.) Even if Bruno just said that because he saw her sweating and was trying to lighten the mood, Pepa thought he wasn’t and it was an act of miscommunication, something that happens in families ALL the time. Pepa could resent him for that, for leaving, or maybe she WAS just saying that as an unhealthy coping mechanism to stay mad at him, (which is a popular headcanon the fandom has had) who knows, but I think it’s clear she didn’t see him as a villain. He was just a sensitive topic and she didn’t want to talk about him, just like the rest of the family, and I’m honestly sick of people painting this movie as black and white, (saying how Bruno is just good when the rest of the family sucks) when one of the MAJOR themes to this movie is about complex relationships. While “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the introduction to the movie trying to make us think he’s some bad guy, let’s be real guys, the only people who ACTUALLY were villainizing Bruno was the village, Alma, and Camilo, but we all know why Camilo did it, he’s just a goofball performer who heard the village talking about him and he just exaggerated things. So yeah long story short, Pepa and Fèlix were explaining their frustrations, Dolores was explaining how nobody could really understand his prophecies hence she understood him more and could hear him in the walls, Camilo was just being extra, and Isabela was just sharing one of the visions he gave her.
Then I see people say “But the family talked shit about him behind his back and pretended like it was nothing!” So………when it comes to the ending, yes…I’ve seen a lot of people say that the family should have apologized to Bruno, and while I agree, I still have to share how much I dislike how black and white the fandom paints everything to be, ESPECIALLY with the Alma apology scene because dear LORD, but I’m not here to talk about that. It’s clear that MOST of the people who say that just paint Bruno as the good guy and the family as the bad guys, even though the movie CLEARLY shows you that the family still cared about him deep down. This fandom needs to realize that you can still LOVE someone but hate them, or be upset with them at the same time. And yes, Bruno is a good person, we know that, and I’m pretty sure the family knows that, or that he used to be. The whole point when it came to Bruno was that while all the Madrigals were painted as perfect, Bruno was different as his prophecies scared people, not only making him a creepy omen to the village, but it’s implied that his family didn’t understand him well either, especially after he left, but as soon as he came back, they were all just happy to see him, to know that he was alive and well after YEARS of wondering what happened to him. That’s why Alma ran up to hug him, and that’s why his SISTERS ran up to hug him, and even Fèlix and Agustín were happy to see him. The movie showed that while Bruno left and the family stopped talking about him and even tried to make dew without him, they all still missed and cared about him deep down. And listen, I’m not going to act like I think the family shouldn’t have apologized to him as well, and I’m not going to act like the family isn’t flawed. They definitely are, but that’s the POINT. I hate to say it, but it feels like the side of the fandom that goes “Fuck the family they’re all horrible people Bruno is baby and did nothing wrong!!!” completely MISS the point of the movie. It feels like y’all are so used to watching other Disney movies who flat out told you shit and had a simple good vs. evil side so you’re desperate to side with the “good one” and portray all the other characters as heartless monsters when they were anything but heavily flawed. :/
And yeah, the last thing I wanted to touch up upon was the whole apology thing. The answer is yes, I DO think the family should have apologized to Bruno, but for me personally, it’s honestly for different reasons. Everyone wants the family to apologize to him for talking shit behind his back (even though they all had a right to resent him and even not really consider him family after leaving for 10 YEARS GASP unpopular opinion I guess) but I wanted the family to apologize to him just for everything he’s been through, and assure him that things will be better, and that he won’t feel alone. And when you think about it, that’s kinda what we got in the movie. A lot of people seem to overlook the lyrics to “All of You”, because you have Alma who tells him to his face that the miracle isn’t a gift, its HIM, and his sisters who tell him the words “No matter what happens, we’re going to find our way”, which is obviously implying that they’re going to get through this, and no matter what is broken, it’s nothing they can’t fix. The family was all under pressure and while they didnt act the best, they now know that can work to grow and better themselves and their relationships, hence why they had to work together to build Casita brick by brick, which is symbolizing them rebuilding the family. There could have been tears, hardships, make-ups, and apologies for all we know during that time the house was built, but whatever. If you want to say the ending was rushed, fine. If you want to say you found the ending unsatisfying and wanted a little more, fine. If you want to say that you thought the family should have apologized to Bruno, fine, but please STOP painting the family as a bunch of heartless dicks. Encanto certainly has a few flaws in my eyes, or just things that could have been slightly better, and y’all can disagree with me if you want, but I'm just sick of this fandom portraying the family as monsters. :/

If you're okay with crossover requests, what about Camillo (Encanto) trying to make Todd (Vargas/JTHM) laugh?

Btw yall I finally took the jump and watched Elemental last night because it had despite all odds been praised pretty consistently post-release by people whose opinions I respect - and everyone was RIGHT!!!
Despite the poor marketing and the absolutely uninspired, cliche, cringy trailer, this film was freaking PRECIOUS and IMPORTANT. In the first five minutes it made more strides talking about the immigrant experience and the connected cultural prejudice than entire documentaries. The importance of representation has never been more clear in a kid-friendly film - when no one solves the issues plaguing a community because no one FROM that community exists in a place of power high enough to make them known and make a difference, those issues become standard and suffering perpetuates. Bitterness and distance increases. They did great talking about privilege and culturally hostile infrastructure, and how socioeconomic differences affect how people see and experience and move through the world. How there doesn’t have to be malice for real, lasting harm to be done, just ignorance and oversight.
Language barriers. Cultural and religious differences. Different goals and structures of support within families. The small-town solidarity of ethnic communities within large cities. The role of nostalgia. Talent and creativity and how that is nurtured based on priorities and the privileges we are born with/without. Generational trauma. Tokenism and fetishization. The universality of prejudice from every direction. MICROAGGRESSIONS.
And the characters!!! We love an emotionally stunted woman who has zero CSR skills - Ember is a disaster in a really uncommon way. I love it. And Wade is the sweetest lil puddle of empathy I’ve ever seen!!! My emotionally constipated ass felt some of his lines like a literal stab through the chest, he’s so sincere and compassionate at every turn and it’s both alarming and disarming. Talk about a soft boi who is also WHOLESOME and OBSERVANT. Wow. (Also I’ve been obsessed with Mamoudou Athie since I first saw him in Unicorn Store a few years ago - Black Box, Oh Jerome No, Archive 81, he’s SO good - and so is his VOICE ACTING!!! Whoa my dude)

Been putting the last chapter of ayh on the back burner because I want to have this one shot posted (or at least finished) by tomorrow. It’s the last encantober, I think at the time I missed the last one (maybe a couple others but I still managed to post them close enough after the deadline) But with the very last one I was burnt out and I was like ‘well I can chill now and finish this one later’ but then I never did. So I’ve been chipping away at it since like around Christmas? Ugh. Part of the problem was I had the premise figured out from the very beginning but I didn’t have details and how we get there until I made myself think about it again lol. Send all your prayers hopes and vibes. 🙏💕

honestly some of the wish hate i'm seeing is valid and some of it is the most insane opinions you've ever seen in your life. once again i am saying to ppl like "this is the worst disney movie" go watch beauty and the beast 3: belle's magical world and come back to me on that ok. watch the live-action mulan. if you didn't like the plot of wish at least it looked fucking spectacular. have you seen hunchback of notre dame 2?? you cannot tell me that wish is irredeemable garbage until you have watched hunchback of notre dame 2. "well that wasn't made for theatres–" chicken little. ralph breaks the internet. pocahontas has been spitting on the memory of a dead indigenous girl since 1995. it's okay if you went in expecting something as good as encanto and didn't get it but the absolutely insane takes of "the entire thing was just bad references" "magnifico was right and asha and amaya were the villains" "it was ugly and disrespectful" like shut UP and sit through mulan 2.

my encanto analysis/headcanon that no one asked for
so, i was just looking through some encanto fanart and headcanons and came across this piece (artist: https://mobile.twitter.com/ye_enc):
Tumblr media
abuela had triplets - julieta, pepa, and bruno. both julieta and pepa had three kids - isabella, luisa, and mirabel for julieta, and dolores, camilo, and antonio for pepa.
what i noticed is that for each batch of three, each individual falls under a certain category, and it seems to follow by age.
julieta was, as this lovely fanart shows, likely depended on quite frequently for her ability to heal via her cooking. her gift would have been the most useful and therefore she likely would have been praised the most as “the perfect one”.
this, of course, next falls to isabella, who we see this with the most frequently. abuela very clearly is living the life she wished she could have lived through isabella, and is viewed as the perfect golden child by everyone around her.
dolores is a little different, but i believe she still fits the trope. she is basically the physical embodiment of “seen but not heard.” she keeps quiet on the things she knows would upset her family and doesn’t make herself heard, even when she is in pain, whether physical or emotional. she doesn’t tell anyone that she knows bruno has been living in the walls for the ten years he’s been missing; she doesn’t tell anyone about her feelings for mariano, because she knows that will upset abuela and her cousin’s “perfect for the encanto” arrangement; and one can only imagine how loud certain things are to her, that are endurable for us (fireworks, for example).
next are the middle children: pepa, luisa, and camilo. all of them have some kind of pressure on their shoulders. (and - just a fun thing i noticed - while luisa’s literal pressure is the many things she carries, pepa’s pressure is atmospheric pressure, because she controls the weather. but anyway, lol).
all three of these characters are told in one way or another to bottle up their emotions and keep them buried inside. with pepa, we see this very directly as she is constantly told by the other characters (especially abuela) to, as the fanart above shows, calm down and essentially turn off her emotions because of the damage she can cause with her weather powers. this kind of reminds me of the “conceal, don’t feel” thing that elsa had with her gloves. both pepa and elsa demonstrate the same growth throughout their movies, too - learning to accept themselves and their abilities and thus being able to control them instead of being controlled by them - but, i digress.
luisa, by contrast, is indirectly told to keep her emotions at bay. she is treated as something of a useful tool, both by the town and by abuela, and seen in a very masculine light despite her relatively feminine personality. because of this treatment and the expectation that she will always be strong that comes with it, she falls into the same category as pepa.
camilo, like dolores, is a little different, but still fits. we don’t see much of him in the movie, but i imagine he is depended on as being the funny one. if anyone reading this is into k-pop or bts, think of camilo as like the j-hope or the jin of the group. he’s always expected to be funny and smiling, lifting everyone else’s spirits - but who lifts his spirits?
and lastly, we have the youngest siblings - bruno, mirabel, and antonio. they fit into the roll, of course, of the scapegoat, of family disappointments.
bruno was rejected by the town and by his family, seen as a harbinger of chaos and horror, a bad omen - all because he can see the future, something that he obviously cannot control. but, of course, it’s easier to simply blame someone else than accept the truth or take responsibility for your own actions.
mirabel, of course, is treated in much the same way. she is seen as a bad omen, as well, and is quite literally feared to be the one who will destroy the family and the encanto, because of bruno’s vision.
antonio does not quite fit into this category, but i think if he had not gotten a gift, he would have been shunned in much the same way as bruno or mirabel. it can also be argued that his gift isn’t really very useful, and we can see abuela struggle for a moment to think of how they could put his gift to use at the breakfast at the beginning of the movie (”i told them to warm up your seat”).
anyway - this is all to say that each of the siblings in each of the batches of three appears to fill (or almost fill) the same rolls. i’m sure someone else has already noticed this and i’m just late to the party - but i thought it was cool.

SAN LUCAS
Enzo vogrincic x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: you and Enzo had been together since you both were teens, now as you both matured and have proven that you both can be there for eachother through good and bad times, he pops the question and you both finally marry
Warnings: None except a bunch of fluff
You and Enzo met when you both were 15 in school, he remembers you walking into class on the first day, the school uniform adorned your body and though he usually hated it you made it look good, your pretty hair cascading down your back, your face was the prettiest he had ever seen
He remembers you were seated next to him and he could not bring himself to even speak to you, but when you asked him for a pencil and lent him a kind smile, he began to speak to you, simple hellos, good mornings, byes, then it turned into conversations about the assignments or teachers then your classmates
Then just about eachother, the two of you became the best of friends so naturally it was meant to be, he remembers telling you about his dream to become an actor and how he did theater, he invited you to see him and he didn't expect you to come but there you were in the front row with a smile on your face
You supported him and pushed him to reach his goal, his dream of acting because you knew he could do it, he could make it "Lo vas a lograr eso lo tengo por seguro" you said giggling as he smiled at you admiring you in every aspect
You helped him learn lines, helped him get into character and gave him honesty when he needed it, you attended every play and practice if needed, you supported him 100% and he couldn't be more grateful
He loved you, so much it was unbearable. He asked you to be his girlfriend when you both turned 18, for your birthday he brought you flowers and chocolate and saved up enough to take you to eat, it was meaningful and lovely
You swooned over it, he made time to plan this for you and he gathered enough care and thought to do that which made you blush and grin like an idiot
That night you both ended up in a field looking up at the stars, however you were the only one looking up while his eyes were stuck on you "quieres ser mi novia?" You heard him ask and you stopped talking sitting up and facing him "que?" You asked the look of disbelief on your face
"Que si quieres ser mi novia" he repeated and your eyes lit up and you nodded bending down to kiss him, that kiss was full of love and care, it was so sweet you still remember the feeling of it till this day just as he does
"Te amo" he said in between the kiss "yo tambien te amo" you giggled pressing your lips together once more, ever since then you both had been inseparable as he went to his practices and plays you followed, when you got big awards at school or simply had a special occasion he was right behind you
He loved you and you loved him. So it made sense that on your 29th birthday he got down on one knee and proposed to you, you cried like a baby accepting the proposal a million times as he cried holding you close
The one thing Enzo knew was that you were the one, and you'd always be the one.
So with the help of both mothers, him, and your bridesmaids the wedding was planned all within a year, now this was the morning you had been waiting for all your life, the makeup artist was working her magic as was the hair stylist
"Que hermoso este vestido!" Male Matias girlfriend had joined you and your bridesmaids in getting ready since she had been such a kind loving person towards you
"Gracias amor, me encanto en cuando lo vi!" You said excitedly and she grinned "te vas a ver como reina!" She squealed and you giggled "No puedo creer que te vas a casar" your mom said as she sat looked at you with eyes full of adoration and you smiled "Y con el chico que siempre me encanto para ti" She laughed as you chuckled
your hair and makeup was set, you were changed out of the silk white robe you wore and into the beautiful white dress you had fallen in love with since the moment you had first saw it after searching for months and in different dress shops
you looked in the mirror and smiled, "Estas hermosa!" your mom came over with a smile on her lips as you both looked in the mirror, only then did you realize you both had watery eyes "Ya te vas a llamar T/n Vogrincic" you both giggled
the transportation was easy yet the nerves ate at your stomach, your maid of honor took note and squeezed your hand "Sonrie" she smiled at you and you smiled too, but the nerves and jitters didn't go away "Tengo muchos nervios" you admitted smiling "Lo se pero vas a ver que todo va estar bien" she assured you and you took a deep breath nodding
you were helped out the car by your bridesmaids as they were careful to keep your white dress as white as it was, you had walked to where the ceremony would be held, your body was shaking and your belly hurt from all the nerves and butterflies "Te ves hermosa" you heard your dads voice as well as the crack in his tone
you looked at him as he held back tears at the sight of you, "Estas lista?" he asked and you nodded "Si, mas que nada" you chuckled interlocking your arm with his "Si quieres podemos huir" he suggested and you laughed nudging him with your hip as he laughed as well.
it was time, it kicked in as you were now beginning to walk down the aisle, rows and rows of close family and friends filled the seats and then your eyes landed on him, Enzo in that black suit, he had offered to cut his hair but you denied it, that was the hair you fell in love with and he liked it long so he resorted to taming it with some gel at most but to you, he was the most handsome man you had ever seen.
his eyes were watery, he looked at you with love, adoration, and admiration, he wiped the tear that fell on his cheek as you got closer, your dad placed your hand in Enzo's and he didn't leave without saying one last thing first
"Cuida de mi niña" your dad said and he seemed to allow his tears to slip down his cheeks and it seems Enzo had allowed his tears to do so as well, "Siempre, te lo prometo" he nodded
Your vows were anything but short, you and Enzo spoke of your fondest and loving memories and made promises to one another, “puedes besar a tu esposa” Enzo was quick to pull you in for a kiss, a very loving one
Walking down the isle hand in hand it was unbelievable, this was real, you both were officially together and you knew you’d never separate
“Felicidades a los casados!” Pipes voice was recognizable and you smile turning to see them all huddled together “Mas hermosa la señora Vogrincic” Alfonsina chuckled as she hugged you making you hug her excitedly
“Te ves Bonita gordis” Fran’s squeal made you laugh as you hugged him “tu mas Fran mírate” you teased “bueno bueno vamos a celebrar no?” Pipe smiled and Rocco put a hand over his shoulder “eh nomas quieres desvelarte”
“Eh pero yo agarro el primer baile con la novia hermosa” Enzo gave Simón a look “es mi novia eh cuidado” Enzo warned a small smile “Esposa, Enzo, soy tu esposa” you corrected him making him smile “Mejor una novia, mi esposa” he kissed you making you smile.
@madame-fear @luv4fati @creative-heart @espinasrubi tagging my loves❤️

As someone who was in the Encanto fandom since the film came out, one of the major issues I had with the fandom was that I always saw people fighting over which Madrigal had it worse. So many people would go “This character deserved better!” “No, THIS character deserved better!”, “this character had it worse!”, “this character’s trauma was so bad!”- and it ALWAYS drove me insane, because anyone who fights over which character had it worse, which character’s trauma was the worst is honestly disgusting, and misses the point of the movie REALLY badly. The whole point of the film was that ALL the Madrigals had it badly, not one of them deserved what came to them. Do some people not know what exactly the term “GENERATIONAL TRUAMA” means?? You could argue not all the characters went though the EXACT same trauma, but that’s the point. It’s not a matter of which character deserved better, which character was in the wrong, which character’s trauma was the worst, it’s about how ALL of them were affected, and how they dealt with the trauma. They ALL deserved better, and the fact that I’ve seen people legit trying to COMPARE certain character’s trauma to others and fight over which one is worse is awful. I hate to be that person but, it feels like society needs to learn that things like these aren’t about who’s the higher up, when it comes to trauma there’s NO competition, and yet I see some people act like cry babies, saying things like “Bruno was treated the worst!”- “Mirabel deserved better!”- “Isabela was treated so badly!”- like….y’all, just come to the conclusion that ALL the Madrigals deserved better. Stop fighting over which had it worse, and stop painting certain members as villains when the whole point of the movie is that there IS no villain. If you don’t like the movie or agree with some of the characters actions that’s fine, but I WILL say that this movie is certainly too complex for Gen Z, since all they seem to be focused on is which character had it worse. And I’m literally APART of that generation so I’m embarrassed.💀

Lin Beifong has no wins in Legend Of Korra
Tumblr media
Something that always bothered me in regards to the way this series treated the character of Lin was the fact that it never felt like any of Lin's victories actually gave the feeling of being victories.
Maybe it's because it's been years since I watched this show, and I'm being selective in what I choose to remember, and I'm just unintentioanlly choosing to remember the bad over the good... but it feels like this series just felt a lot more comfortable dunking on Lin than actually trying to raise her up... And that kinda annoys me a little.
Tumblr media
Lin is part of this character achetype that I like to call "The Antisocials", people who, because of personal events in their past, prefer to avoid or have trouble dealing with others. She's basically meant to be the "Zuko" of the team.
I really like this trope, and I really like to see the earth element getting some love, so I was really excited to see Lin getting her moments to shine and kick some ass in the series... Which... for some reason doesn't feel all that prevalent.
Tumblr media
Now, don't get me wrong, when Lin needs to fight, she WILL fight, and she looks cool while doing it... But when it comes to her more memorable moments, her getting defeated sadly feels more frequent than her getting some victories.
Like... Let's take a moment to count her Ls:
She got dumped by Tenzin after another woman seduced him
A terrorist started to attack her city and kept getting away from her
She was unable to stop her men from getting captured and losing their powers
Eventually she herelf got captured and lost her bending
She's constantly getting mocked and looked down upon by other characters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her own sister left a scar on her face while committing a crime and faced basically no consequences, only to years later have a life filled with success while Lin is all alone
Her own mother acts like she couldn't care less about her struggles
Neither of the two ever gave Lin a proper apology and instead just tried to pull an Mirabel from "Encanto" and tell her to get over it
She basically played no role in all of season 2
And when she tired to face her family about her problems she was simply treated as the one in the wrong
Now let's count her "wins:"
She allowed Tenzin's family to get away from Amon in season 1... At the cost of her getting captured... Only for the family itself to get caught later anyway
She saved Korra from falling, which allowed Amon to get away with her men
In season 3 she gets clobbered by the combustion woman so her sister can land the finishing blow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and In season 4 she tries to rescue her family, only to nearly fail and needing to be saved by her mother, who proceeds to give her the most bare-bones of moments of reconciliation, because God forbid we let our fan-favorite character from the first series show a little humility for her own daughter in her moment of weakness
Tumblr media
It just felt like the show was afraid of ever letting Lin be a badass and giving her a real win moment.
It doesn't even need to be a battle win. She could have had a moment with Korra where she teaches her some life lesson, or teach her how to metal bend and listen to the earth, or she could have had some scenes where her actions save the day, like, how come she never gets to save her sister and mother but both of them end up saving her? Or even some character moments like her bonding with Mako, or Tenzin's kids or something... I don't think she even really interacts with anyone in a meaningfull way.
If you were to ask me who her best friend in the series was, I would have no idea what to say.
Tumblr media
Her biggest "win" in the series was getting to wake up all happy after "solving" her personal demons, an act she achieved by... fighting her sister and venting out all her anger, I guess.
I don't know if it's just me but Lin's victories on the show all feel so shallow, as if they were telling us she was achieving things instead of actually feeling like she was. At times, she felt like the show's punching bag. Insted of being the Zuko of the story, she came more as the Squidward.
Tumblr media
Someone who's there just to lose to the villains and make them look strong and making other characters look cool while they save her with her big lesson being that she needs to learn to be less grumpy.
Lin should be so easy to make cool! Like, you see her design, her powers and abilities, her personality, her verstility for several different types of action scenes and versatility for also different interactions with the rest of the cast...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But instead it felt like they were throwing darts at a wall trying to pick a different way to dunk on her every time, as if they were afraid of makiing her too cool.
I don't know, maybe I'm just being salty and petty because I wish more had been done with her and that's causing me to only focus on the negatives, making them look and sound a lot worse than they actually were, while also ignoring all the big positives about her time on the screen...
But sometimes it felt to me like the show was more interested in hyping up everyone else and giving them a moment to shine over Lin.
Like, again, her own sister got to take down one of the big members of the Red Lotus, and she basically becomes one of the main characters in season 4, while Toph gets to train and help heal Korra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two got to look so much cooler in just two seasons than Lin got to look in all 4, and I can't even fully enjoy them being cool because all I keep thinking when I look at them is "You two did Lin dirty."
If they had had an actual honest earned moment of reconciliation, I feel like I would be in heaven watching both of them kicking ass, cause again, I love the earth element, but instead I would just be "God, I wish this was Lin doing all this cool stuff instead."
I'm not exactly sure what the mindset was behind the way they wanted to handle her, not sure if there was studio interference, or mismanagement, or if Nickelodeon's meddling affected things, or what...
I'm just trying to say, I feel like Lin deserved better. I still like her character a lot but I can't help but feel even more could have been done with her.

Disney thoughts:
You can't make blanket statements about the quality, ethos, or artistry of Disney-owned media, because the Disney company has existed for a literal century, buys up everything they can get their hands on, employs 195,000 people as of 2022 according to Wikipedia, and spans the entire globe.
"Disney" doesn't make things, they just own them, and they buy the rights to more and more media every single day. There are countless people with genuine talent and heart making the media that Disney slaps their label on, and adopting the black-and-white mentality of "Disney = bad, therefore all Disney media = bad" is incredibly reductive and unfair to all the artists that Disney exploits.
Yes, the corporate Disney overlords censor the artists and water down the art, but doesn't that mean we should be supporting the artists even more, and showing them that we see them, their art, their passion even despite the corporation's meddling? There are so, so many artists working for Disney who are active right now on Twitter, talking in depth about the horrors of the company, but begging people to please still support their art, because Disney didn't make the art and the art still deserves to be seen. There are countless artists in a position of, "make it with Disney money or don't ever get to make it at all, because making art is fucking expensive."
Should we throw up our hands and say, sorry, Dana Terrace, you've made a delightfully charming show about a queer Latina witch girl, but it's got the Disney label on it, so fuck you? Fuck Howard Ashman while we're at it, he poured his queer experience into The Little Mermaid, but we can't talk about that because Disney Bad. Domee Shi directed a heart-filled movie about a Chinese-Canadian girl coming into her own and navigating generational trauma? Eh, it's Disney, so obviously it's not authentic, so fuck Turning Red, and fuck Encanto while we're at it! Yeah, representation matters, but Disney Bad!!!
Disney the company is evil. Disney-owned media is case-by-case. Chapek isn't sitting in his office pushing the "make movie" button. For every shitty cash-grab nostalgia-bait remake they churn out, they're still a company that owns half the world and employs countless artists trying like hell to tell genuine stories. You're not obligated to engage with them, you're not required to like them, but the bullshit take of "Disney bad, therefore everything Disney slaps its name on is just as evil" is the most asinine thing I have ever heard.
That's not even getting into their other media divisions, like book publishing or video games. They have their fingers in every single media pie that exists, and you can't solve industry-wide problems with "Disney bad, never engage with anything that has their name on it."
Some fucking nuance, people, I beg you.

Also yeah this new Hazbin cast is not it man. I’m sorry. Most of them either sound flat, don’t fit with the character design, or are just not as good as the original. Angel and Alastor I especially don’t like, Alastor sounds so nasally and Amari just can’t top Bosco’s performance, with Bosco not only was he good but when Alastor was threatening, he SOUNDED threatening. I may have made fun of Al’s design, but Bosco’s voice is what made the character interesting and threatening for me. With Amari’s voice he just sounds beyond silly and I can’t take him seriously.
Blake Roman is literally just intimidating Kovach, except this time Angel just sounds forced and awkward. It makes you wonder why Viv just didn’t get Kovach back since it’s obvious she wanted to find someone so similar to him, and then you realize…oh yeah, Kovach wasn’t on Broadway or is a big singer. Micheal was really good at what he did as Angel too as everyone has already said so Viv fumbled the bag SO hard with these two it’s sad. I’m especially pissed about Alastor cause Bosco was the reason he was my favorite character and now he sounds so cringe.
Husk and Vox are played by two very talented actors/singers but their voices just don’t fit with the character design, though I’m not that against Christain Borle as Vox, the voice doesn’t fit the twink design but at the very least they got a man who sounds like a full grown adult playing a full grown adult lmao. Husk is a different story however, because it feels like Keith was picked to play him just because he was famous and nothing else. Back in the pilot, Viv had a specific voice in mind for Husk and she found it, aka Mick. He perfectly came off as an old washed up grumpy alcoholic, and Keith’s voice kinda just…erases all that personality. Sure Keith’s voice sounds cool but that’s it, it’s style over substance.
I wish I could say more about Charlie and Vaggie but I’m not sure what to say other then they kinda sound forced and awkward too, and I hate saying that cause they’re also played by two very talented actresses. Stephanie B played Mirabel from Encanto, she’s had voice acting experience before so I hope she ends up sounding good in the actual show. Erika meanwhile…I hate to say this but other than her singing voice there’s nothing really special about her as Charlie compared to Jill Harris, though even with Jill I never felt any strong feelings towards her performance.
Adam meanwhile, dear GOD I was right about him looking bad in animation form, his design sucks so fucking much. Fans were right, that’s Alex Brightman’s voice, he seems to be using his normal voice but just a tad deeper. He’s the only one who’s a fine choice, though I really wish we got to hear him as Pentious here!
But yeah in terms of the voice cast I’m just disappointed man, really disappointed. It makes you really realize how talented the pilot cast was. They were so good cause they were all chosen for a reason that wasn’t just “they’re famous” and it fucking sucks how bad Viv fumbled everything.

Bruno Madrigal Crush Headcannons
This man has spent a good portion of his life watching his family through walls, hoping and wishing and yearning for their happiness, even if it doesn't involve him.
Meaning? He has a staring problem.
Bruno actually caught feelings for you from a distance. You're just...so nice. Nonjudgmental. It's what drew his gaze to you in the first place, how everyone felt safe to be themselves around you. He didn't even need to interact with you to see how wonderful you are!
...Which is a problem.
Bruno refuses to approach you-- he can't. It's just not possible.
But he will watch you.
He watches the way you smile and laugh, he's hypnotized by the way your hair bounces when you walk, he wants to take his thumb and rub away the little furrow between your eyebrows that shows up when you're reading intently, kiss your lips every time you bite them--
(Or is that too much, hahahahahahahah-- Kill him, someone anyone please please please---)
Bruno is so, so awkward. While Tio Bruno is funny and adoring with his family, as well as hilariously sassy when he wants to be, people outside his social circle are Not Trusted with anything but The Madrigal Manners. Years of being accused of malicious intent makes it difficult for him to be fully himself in public, and the decades of isolation made him forget all the important social cues.
But you? He's exponentially worse around you.
The few times you've actually spoken with Bruno, he was both Supremely Polite and a Tongue Tied Disaster.
He comments on easy, obvious topics, like the weather or the weekend, but he talks so quickly he can't breathe and starts laughing at things that aren't even jokes. He'll open doors for you or pull out your chair, but will trip over the door frame or accidentally tip the chair over and scramble to pick it back up.
You make him a mess. You whip his thoughts so frothy he can barely remember what he's said, let alone focus on putting up a wall. It's incredibly endearing, and it makes his crush on you supremely obvious.
He's had one or two childhood crushes, but it has been literal decades since the last time his heart beat this fast. It was so bad that this idiot (affectionate) literally thought he was having a heart attack the first time you made eye contact with him--Fully clutching at his chest and panicking before darting away to get some help.
There is a certain amount of guilt he feels about his crush. After all, he's not exactly prime husband material. Bruno is acutely aware of how old he is, and there aren't many love stories out there for people his age(a crime imo). "The fifty year old uncle" is usually the creepy antagonist in drama, never a romantic hero. Besides that, there's the matter of his reputation. Even with the rest of the Madrigal family working to repair it, there are still parts of the Encanto that don't like the weird fortune-telling hermit that LIVED IN THE WALLS OF HIS OWN HOUSE FOR SOME REASON.
(....There is also a little bit of guilt of the Catholic variety. His thoughts about you can get pretty spicy late at night. After one of those he can't bring himself to even look at you.)
Bruno won't confess his feelings to you if he can help it. He doesn't think he deserves romantic love, especially not from someone as wonderful as you, and the last thing he wants to do is burden you with his feelings. He's been enough of a burden already. He will try to get over you before he even considers hinting that he likes you.
Unfortunately, Bruno's resolve isn't as strong as he wishes it was.
Every time he tries to suppress his feelings, someone will simply say your name in passing and it's enough to fully divert his train of thought back to how kind you are, how funny, how understanding....
Fantasies have always been a huge coping mechanism for him, but lately, baby you are the star of every. single. one.
Some are realistic: He pictures the two of you hand in hand, walking to the market, and he's somehow managed to be funny and charming enough to make you smile just for him.
Or maybe you have a suitcase packed and ready to leave the village--it's raining of course--and Bruno will run out to you, pull you into a tight embrace and kiss the idea right out of you.
He could live out his childhood dream and be the director of a theater troupe, while you, his newest actor shaking with nerves, ask him to run through your lines together. He agrees, comforts you through your stage fright, and as your practice ends the chemistry between you both is electric enough to crackle. He just knows you'll do great things together...
Bruno is his best self in every fantasy, of course, witty and charming and without a single grain of sand in his hair. Often, in private, he has his rats reenact his favorite daydreams. (Whichever Rat that plays you gets extra treats. It's the most coveted role.)
...Eventually, though, his wistful sighing and blatant eavesdropping on any conversation involving you start to get on his Family's nerves. They've been supportive of his crush--why wouldn't they be, they've met you, you're great!-- but it's also obvious Bruno is going to need a helping hand.
Mirabel in particular gets it in her head to play Cupid after she sees how happy her Tio gets talking about you. She gathers up the youngest generation of Madrigals, and all of them begin conspiring ways to push Bruno into as many situations with you as possible.
Isabella invites you over to help garden, while Luisa gets her Tio to come help her organize where the pots should go. Antonio begs you to play hide and seek with him and his animal friends, and it's not like Bruno can resist his nephew's puppy eyes either. Mirabel brings Bruno along to tell stories to some of the local village kids, and Camilo makes sure you're nearby to see his Tio in his element.
Bruno immediately picks up on the fact that his nieces and nephews are trying to meddle, but he can't find it in himself to get upset about it.
Besides, it's a little hard to think lately when so many of your pretty smiles seem to be directed at him...
...Maybe he has more of a chance than he thought? 💞

Do you have any queer headcanons for the Madrigals?
None that are like solid in my head, I enjoy a lot of different fan interpretations and OCs to ship, so to me nobody has a set sexuality except the parents (even then they could be bi, but I’m not super into shipping healthy married couples with anyone else, so in my head they don’t really matter lol)
But here are some that I particularly enjoy when they come up:
- lesbian Isabela. I especially love when people ship her with a fem Bubo. Of course she doesn’t have to be lesbian just because of her character arc, and I love fic explorations of her just being uninterested or waiting for the right guy too. But it’s nice to see.
- bi Mirabel. I kinda hated that a lot of people early on were insisting she had to be bi because the flag appeared somewhere on her outfit... like that doesn’t mean anything, especially when it’s Disney. But I do feel like she could be bi for unrelated reasons. And those reasons are purely vibes. (Source: just trust me)
- gay Bruno. I’ll admit I’m not super invested in male OCs people ship him with, and that’s because my baby lesbian brain doesn’t want think about male sexuality lol. However. I do enjoy a gay reading of him because of the themes of his character, being the single uncle the family doesn’t talk about, yknow the vibes.
- This one I actually am attached to because I thought of it during the first time I saw the movie. I made a post about it a while ago, but basically I thought Dolores’ arc would be that she wouldn’t have the man of her dreams, but she would instead find the woman of her dreams. I guess I forgot I was watching a Disney movie, or just thought Dolores was a minor enough character that they could get away with it? But yeah bi Dolores. I do love her and Mariano though, and I haven’t seen her shipped with any OCs regardless of gender. This one’s just in my head. 💕
