Synopsis: A short break wouldn't do any harm, and your favourite eel can be very convincing

You sat in the Mostro Lounge, nestled among the vibrant energy of the bustling restaurant, its symphony of clinking cutlery and animated conversations creating a lively backdrop to your work. This place, with its enchanting ambience, held a special place in your heart, acting as a catalyst for productivity.

It was your favourite place in the entire school. Not only does the alluring atmosphere fuel your efficiency, but it also grants you the pleasure of catching glimpses of your favourite person time and time again.

But this time, it would appear none of that could stop you from dozing off. Your body seemed ensnared in a trance, a heavy fog descending upon your senses. Eyelids weighed down by fatigue drooped, teasing the embrace of sleep. Your grip on your pen weakened, as if the world itself conspired to pull you under its darkened veil...

“Tired?”

A voice broke through the haze of drowsiness, momentarily reviving your senses. Turning your gaze towards the source, you hazily found Jade standing next to your table, his expression tinged with concern.

You blinked slowly, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep that clung to your mind. With a faint smile, you replied, "Just a bit. I guess I've been pushing myself too hard lately."

Jade's concern deepened as he pulled out the chair beside you and took a seat. "You've been working non-stop. Maybe it's time for a break? You deserve some rest."

You sighed, the countless deadlines and tests scheduled surfacing in your mind. "I'd love to, but there's so much work to be done."

Leaning closer, Jade placed a gentle hand on your arm, his voice filled with gentle reassurance. "I understand the pressure you're under, but remember that taking care of yourself is just as important. Sometimes, a short break can actually increase your productivity in the long run."

His words resonated with you, a small flicker of hope igniting within. Perhaps a respite was exactly what you needed. The weight of exhaustion seemed to lessen as you considered his suggestion.

Taking a deep breath, you relented, your determination wavering. "You're right, Jade. I suppose a short break won't hurt."

He smiled gently. "It's settled then," he said, his voice carrying a hint of mischief. Without another word, he swept you off your feet, lifting you in his strong arms, bridal style.

"J-jade!? What are you doing?!" you asked, frantically holding onto him for safety.

He chuckled as if nothing was strange. "Why, you can't be expected to rest here now. Let's go to the VIP room. I'm sure Azul wouldn't mind."

Though you doubted Azul would be so lenient on you, you couldn't rebut his words as his warmth started settling into your body as he carried you effortlessly through the bustling restaurant, his strong hold making you feel completely at ease.

"Jade... Can you keep me company while I sleep?" you murmured, your words muffled against his neck.

His eyebrow furrowed as he considered your request. "You wish for me to stay here while you sleep...?" The surprise in his voice was evident, but he was more than willing to oblige. "Certainly... I can stay if you'd like me to."

As his words washed over you, the fatigue finally won its battle, and the last bits of your consciousness faded away. Your body surrendered to the embrace of sleep, trusting Jade to watch over you.

Jade's lips parted in a soft smile as he watched you sleep, his heart swelling with affection. You looked so peaceful, so vulnerable, nestled against him. It was moments like these that reminded him of how fortunate he was to have you in his life, that someone as wonderful as you could be so comfortable around him.

"Rest well, my pearl..." He whispered, leaning down to place a gentle kiss on your forehead.

Hi krenny, about what we discussed last time

What if by being normal Trey meant he's not special, trying to hide his real UM power. Like the trope of a genius who pretends to be average and wants to enjoy the normalcy of life because if others found out it would bring them problems and unwanted attention

I'm not saying Trey is a genius but maybe he's trying to do the same thing. Who knows, maybe he doesn't want special treatment or others trying to take advantage of his abilities (eg. If azul ever found out there's more to doodle suit than trey let's on, he'd do anything to get his grubby hands on an UM that changes matter. Basically the philosopher's stone.)

I do agree with what someone said that he's wearing this "I am normal" as an armor but maybe what's he's trying to say is he's not special but others think he means he's not weird and take it the wrong way assuming he must be weird if he insists on it that much?

Saki, I think you're COMPLETELY correct with this!

Trey is very powerful, very competent, and VERY clever. He's almost the inverse of Jamil in what he does. He hides his abilities, but unlike Jamil, Trey doesn't want that attention. Instead of acknowledgement, Trey wants comfort. And he has found that the way to reach his desires is to stay in the background, keeping things running from the shadows, and only stepping out when absolutely necessary.

Trey is incredible, truly, but constantly lowers himself so as to not stand out. Whether that be in an "I don't want to be seen as weird" way, or an "I don't want to be seen as special" way, I think the outcome is the same. He just wants things to be comfortable for him, and for Trey, that seems to be in the form of staying out of the spotlight.

a taste of rejection

octavinelle boys shoot their shot and miss horrifically (PLEASE twst fandom don’t eat me alive) this little post is very short and kinda angsty so beware. i cant write that well yet ok 😳

of course. he should’ve calculated this. what was he thinking? why’d he delude himself into believing that you’d love him back? he’s such a fool.

self depreciating thoughts like that filled his mind as you continuously apologised for the cold, straightforward rejection. azul can’t help but bite his lip, arms crossed tightly like he was trying to shield himself from you. it doesn’t take long for him to excuse himself, getting up from the arrangement he specially and meticulously prepared for this occasion.

please don’t look at him like that. don’t comfort him, especially after breaking him down. he doesn’t want you to see him. he doesn’t want to see you. despite the storm building up inside him, he can’t seem to stop himself from telling you that there were no hard feelings. he can’t bring himself to support that statement the next day however, when he practically gives you the cold shoulder and stays far, far away. whether or not he allowed himself to cry the night before, you wouldn’t know.

ah. a fault on his part. apologies, he should’ve thought more thoroughly before asking something like that of you. to be his lover. …what a silly thing to think, indeed.

jade masks his hurt perfectly and swiftly. not a moment of shock and pain crosses his expression… half a second? that’s a different story. all he knows is that he will never be able to face you the way he used to ever again. his worst fear had come true. you had his unmasked self out on full display, and there was nothing you wanted in him. no qualities you saw in him befitting of a partner. he wonders, maybe you would like him better if he was… ah, no. he knows he mustn’t think like that.

you’ll find that he’s slightly more reserved the next day. he doesn’t even seem to see you as a friend, more an acquaintance. even he can’t hide the drastic change, relying on luck and hoping you wouldn’t corner him about it. jade hates lying to people he loves, so he’d simply have to tell the truth. but a part of him hopes that you care enough to attempt to maintain that special connection you had before. however, another part of him simply wants you gone. hm, he was never the best with emotions… maybe he’d just lie to himself and say that love for you didn’t exist.

floyd leech

…ugh. now he was really in a bad mood. … this wasn’t fair. how come he had to love you, but you saw him as some rowdy guy? this sucks. you suck. no way.. he wasn’t tearing up like some heartbroken fishy.

once again, floyd leech cannot seem to control his emotions. it has always been a… problem with him. everyone avoided him because of this factor, choosing to scramble back from the eel. but you… he thought you were different. you didn’t freak out and scatter like a sardine when he appeared in a hall, instead choosing to greet him if he struck up a conversation. he thought you loved him. or at the very least, liked him. wrong.

you got on well with everyone. of course he had to take that as a sign you were a friend. the cold and harsh rejection you served him was enough to prove he was an idiot, thanks. the emphasis on why he was unloveable was more than enough, thanks. …oh who is he kidding, he wouldn’t fall for someone like that. floyd had been a hopeless romantic ever since he saw that one movie about a couple. deep down inside, he hoped it would be just like that. too bad you knocked that dream out of him so fast, because it’d be a while since he’d call another his little shrimp. floyd doesn’t even leave his room for a while, opting to curl up on his bed and delete the hundreds of photos he took of him and his ‘shrimpy.’

When people hear about what kind of merperson you are, they run for the hills.

I mean, with those razor-sharp teeth, blank eyes, and looming presence, I wouldnt wanna be around a great white shark merfolk either.

Though you're not as tall as the other y/n’s, you’re still tall (great whites grow to be over 10 feet. Females are 15-21 and males are 11-13. )

But you fall on the scale of being around 22 feet in the water. And 6’3 on land!

When I tell you it was love at first sight for Floyd. I mean it. He would always drag you off (per your dismay) and bring you along with his shenanigans

You and Floyd's partner are like night and day. And you could understand why they would think that.

They’re more reserve, patient, and sometimes assertive. While you're more sociable, affectionate, and charming… you think they’re dead wrong

Cause, on one hand, you and Floyd tend to clash. Sometimes, while Floyd’s s/o and jade have one-sided conversations (or telepathic ones)

don't let them talk cause they'll plot world domination...

But overall, you love your boyfriend, and he loves you even more. You kind of remind him of his brother with all the hijacks you pull.

But when you're in water, oh my god- he falls in love all over again

You're a bully. Let’s get that straight, when you see another merfolk minding their own business, you both share a look and immediately- like with the snap of a finger, start harassing them.

AND YALL JUST GIGGLE, SWIMMING AWAY WHEN THEY THREATEN TO CALL THE COPS-

He loves your dynamic, loves how you value personal relationships and how much you care for your family

HAS met your family. Your two moms welcoming him with open… hands? It was kinda weird, 'cause you're all so much bigger than him that he couldn’t hug them without it seeming awkward.

WILL use your height in and out of water for his advantage.

I think he might be a little bitter about how you're so much taller than him, but that ends when he sees you struggling to do normal things

Like when you get stuck in the rocks underwater, not able to go to half shops since you can't even fit your arm through the door.

And even on land, you're constantly bumping your head on doors, getting suck in hallways, pouting at him to help you.

Like Floyd, he has recreated that moment. But in different fonts

Like okay- setting the scene

Imagine some customers are trying to give Jade a harsh time in the lounge. By this time Floyd dipped, Azul's in his office (said yall could handle it) and the other employees didn’t know what to do.

Of course, you were in the lounge, trying to take a quick snooze before your shift. But accidentally eavesdropping on your boyfriend and his new 'friends'

And when Jade finally backed up against the glass, monkey grin stretched upon his face as he knocked on the glass saying ‘babe’

They were meant with a singular eye. First looking up, then snapping to them as they stood frozen in fear.

Jade, chuckling, slowly walked towards them as you you swam by giving them a preview of your body that never seemed to end…

Until it did

Bending down towards them, jade places a hand on two of their shoulders, the others watching the tank intently as Jade only whispered one thing.

“Run”

And before they even had the chance, you emerged from the water's surface. Water ran off your ink and snow-stained body, as you smiled eerily at them.

Before you could even open their mouth, they sprinted out the door, pants a little wet as they promised to never come here again.

There was a brief silence until you started laughing- cackling hysterically.

The employees and regulars joining in as they were used to this scenario.

Jade only chuckled, reaching up to caress your hand. Silently telling you how you did well.

“I didn’t even say anything” you huffed, picking at your ear. Jade was about to say something until a loud sigh was heard

“Really y/n?” Again?” Azul groaned, looking at the water stains around the tank.

You both shared a look, then shrugged. “It was the most efficient way to handle rowdy customers. Besides-” he gazed at you, who was bored out of your mind, leaning against the glass.

“Something tells me we won't have any problems for a long while”

I see him catching a ride on you. When you want to spy hop he’ll hold onto your dorsal fluke and just enjoy the view of the endless oceans and the setting horizon.

I'm so happy to know you're excited! I forgot how fun it is to write Jade when he's up to his >:3c shenanigans. The inspiration is coming a little too easily. It's alarming how I have already written seven pages of the opening scene and I am moving into the second scene already. The devil works hard, but when it comes to the visual of Jade in Floyd's basketball uniform I work even harder. ( ◡̀_◡́)ᕤ

| • how gentle you treat him ,, as though he were to wither away under your touch ( which he did feel like doing )

| • everything down under his consent ,, and his supervision of course ,, your brain and curiosity end up satiated ,, pressing a small kiss to azul's cheek in thanks for this memory

| • treasuring every touch you can get ,, reassuring azul that he's quite a beauty rather or not he thinks so ,, and last but not least a thank you for allowing this ,, for letting him trust you this much and that you would never break said trust

cool to the touch yet smooth ,, your fingertips roamed over one of his appendages . azul sucked in a breath ,, eyes fixated on your fingers and awaiting for any depricating comments from your lips . though he never expected you to smile and whisper praises to him . " you're quite beautiful , azul ." it was small and short ,, yet it meant a lot to him . " i do absolutely adore the gradation from black to purple here ,, its quite lovely if i say so ." you murmured under your breath ,, eyes raking over his form as you played with the suction cups on the underside of his appendage .

your eyes glanced back up ,, meeting azul's as they took in every movement of yours . " thank you for this azul ." you whispered ,, hands leaving his tentacle to wrap around his neck as you coddled against him . your hands reached out to the finals where his ears wear ,, stroking one softly with your thumb as jade laid his head in your lap . " enjoying yourself pearl ?" his sultry voice asked ,, mismatched eyes gazing into your own as he allowed you to fuel your curiosity . " yes ,," was all you could muster out ,, allowing your hands to trail over his scales coating his neck ,, collarbone and dragging down his arms . he was muscular ,, though not as much as jack was . you could still feel the flesh as your fingertips glided alongside his upper arms ,, digging in gently before moving on .

jade could feel his heart pick up pace slightly ,, eyes widening slightly as your eyes shined ,, enthralled and mesmerized by his luxurious scales . you didnt notice ,, too busy being entranced at the gradation of his scales ,, eyes glazing over little nicks and scars he's gotten over the years .

| • similar to jade ,, hes been in his more natural state around you ,, noticing your staring and has teased you for it before

| • he'll call you out on how rude it is to stare before grabbing you off the ground and dragging you into the pool with a loud giggle

| • " shrimpy's so silly ! if you wanna look or touch ya just gotta ask small fry ,," he'll remark as he rubs his cheek against yours with his long body coiling around you

| • even then it takes you a while to finally ask ,, a gentle night at the beach during sprink break having mustered up enough courage to ask

| • floyd didnt mind ,, enjoying your flustered state as he allowed you to rub your hands on his scales

| • who knows he may try to get you to itch a spot for him that he cant reach ,, or splash water onto your face with his tail

| • he'll laugh as you grumble about ,, trying to wipe the water away only to be met with even more water ,, this time using his hands instead of his tail

| • when joining him in the water you have to be careful of what you do ,, after all if you do try to run from his grip he'll only take it as indication that you wanna play chase

| • like a snake he'll slither within the water ,, hands reaching out to grab at you and pull you close to him

| • on days he happens to be more chill for the time being he lets you gaze all over ,, not bothering to call you out on your obsessive staring

| • its moments like these that you can observe floyd in his beauty ,, rather than trying to escape it

" floyd !" you grumbled as he splashed water at your face ,, causing you to squeeze your eyes shut . " for five seconds can you not splash me ?" you asked. he could only shrug ,, dorky smile on his face . " shouldn't have been starin' ,," is all he'll say ,, waiting for you to open your eyes only to splash you again . at that moment ,, you didnt care anymore and lunged forward at him ,, arms wrapping around his neck as you tried to splash water into his face as payback .

unfortunately for you ,, he'd already dived underwater and dragged you along with him without warning . when you let go and resurface ,, he's at the other end of pool laughing at your flailing arms . " for one minute can i admire you ?!" you huffed ,, glaring over in his general direction as you swam towards the ledge of the pool . it doesn't take long until hes coming up right behind you ,, grabbing at your waist and bringing you back to him . " all you had to do was ask shrimpy ." he'll say as he floats along his back ,, you ontop of him and in his arms as he lets you look him over with adoration in your eyes .

You become SO vocal, telling Floyd ‘ take down their krill look’s ass’

And no one can do anything about it, cause once they catch sight of your teeth. They think it's better to stay quiet 🙊

I like to think that Floyd would score 50 out of 100 points when you're there, softly cause he wants to impress you

I was gonna say ‘to show other guys not to mess with him or you, but I feel like he’d also be really into it when in the moment. So idk

But if you're versing a school from under the sea and he sees a great white student eyeing you. Oh my god.

I feel like there will be sometimes when you miss your family. Cause orca's are extremely sociable creatures. So just imagining orca readers getting depressed about missing their mom’s anniversary. Their brother and sister’s birthday. The time when their whole family went to see a movie they saw with Jade-

Like okay- setting the scene.

“Azul can suck a tentacle- better yet I think he’s missing one. So he should get that out of his ass an-“

You stopped once you felt a firm hand on your shoulder.

“You should have told him beforehand that you weren’t going to make it. We were down a man and had to get one of your first-year friends to fill in”

You scuffed.

Rolling onto your stomach so you lost Jade’s grip as you, you smothered your face in your pillow as jade adjusted himself on the bed.

“You know, I'm here to help… I'm not sure what you’re feeling as Floyd and I have always been together our entire lives… but if you need anything…”

He trailed off before sighing. Slowly got up before a swish of the blankets was heard, and he was roughly pushed down onto the bed.

A startled gasp left his face as you brought him into a crushing hug.

He swore he heard a bone crack.

Carefully, with your feet, you lifted the covers over the both of you and sniffled, nuzzling his face as you brought him closer. An amused ‘oh’ was all he said as he tapped your shoulder.

Letting go slightly, he slipped off his shoes, socks, and blazer as you readjusted your hold on him.

Throwing your leg over his body, you finally encased yourself over him as you got comfy again, a few stray tears leaving you as Jade felt your body start to lax.

He sighed, shrugging internally as he’ll have to deal with a pissy Azul whenever you decided to let him go.
