It's Just Water | Jeon Jungkook Pt. 2
Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Synopsis: y/n can't get over her fear of the water, but maybe former swim team captain and current swim coach Jeon Jungkook can help her.
A/N: Part 2 is finally here! Make sure you read Part 1 of It's Just Water to enjoy the rest.
Tumblr media
Surely, it couldn't be that bad. Facing the guy who just broke your heart into a million pieces in front of the entire class? No biggie.
Ever since you called off your swim sessions with Jungkook, your swim coach was very quick - scarily quick - to catch on that since the deal was off, swim lessons weren't the exception any longer. Funnily enough, being forced to face your biggest fear was nowhere near as bad as having to face Jungkook one-on-one for an hour a day, every day. Of course it would be. He used you. Preyed on your biggest weakness. Then he kissed you in the pool. Almost as if he had been resisting for years. And then you realise what it had really been about. A promotion.
"What a fool." you grumbled unhappily. A blue and white striped towel draped across your back even though you didn't need it. You weren't getting in that damned pool anyway.
"Hey, you chose to be friends with me." Taehyung said frowning.
You were pulled back into reality. Students were jumping into the pool one after the other going about their laps. You flinched with each splash.
"Not you, idiot." you sighed, chin resting on your palm while you lingered in your sour mood.
"Oh...", Taehyung nodded in understanding, "Him."
"Yeah," you huffed. "Him."
"What a dick move, honestly. I thought he was one of the good ones." said Dahyun.
"You can never trust men," she added as she patted your shoulder sympathetically.
"God, it's just so frustrating. I can't even move past it because there he is all shirtless in his stupid hot speedos and water dripping down his skin with his hair wet and slicked back-"
"Okay, y/n, calm down. I really think you need to hook up with someone. It stinks of desperation from your end," Taehyung said.
"Taehyung! Don't be mean. But he's right, y/n, I know a nice guy and I'm telling you he'd love to go out on a date with you." Dahyun suggested.
You stared pointedly at the two of them. "Okay mr and mrs 'couple of the year', just because the two of you are in a relationship doesn't mean everyone around you has to be."
"I never mentioned a relationship, I just think you need someone to fuck you silly," Taehyung said.
You slapped a hand over his mouth making him flinch. "Shut up!"
"Group 5! Up next, let's go!" you heard coach shout.
"Well as if this day couldn't get any worse," you grumbled.
"It's okay, y/n. Just do as much as you can and I'll help you out okay? I'll pull you out as soon as you want me to," Dahyun said getting up and setting her towel aside.
You sighed, "Taehyung doesn't deserve you. You can do so much better, Hyun."
She pulled you up by the hand grinning while Taehyung complained in the corner. The two of you approached the pool. There was no way you were doing a lap, and you knew that. The coach knew that. So the fact that he would insist only means he's out to make your life a living hell. You looked across to the end. Jungkook stood there with his whistle, blowing orders at the more advanced group. He looked up for a second and his gaze froze when he saw you at the pool's edge. You could tell he stopped to think for a moment, and then in a second he was walking over to your side. Your eyes widened and you frantically turned to the coach who was getting impatient by the second.
"Coach, you know I can't," you pleaded.
"Just get in, y/n. You don't have to swim. Come on, you'll be in and out in a second."
"Motherfu-"
"Coach!" you heard him yell. Jungkook was by your side in no time.
"I think you should let her off, she can't really..." Jungkook trailed off trying to find the words.
You were growing angrier the more you thought of all the ways he could have ended his sentence.
She can't do it? She can't swim? She'll fail. Asshole, who does he think he is speaking up for you like that like some kind of hero?
"I can't what, Jungkook?" you snapped.
His eyes widened as he looked down at you, his hand instinctively moving to caress your upper arm.
"I mean, she doesn't have to-" he said worriedly, but you were quick to move away from him.
"I can do it," you said confidently, turning to your coach.
"That's right, she doesn't need a man to tell her what she can and can't do," Dahyun said backing you up, rolling her eyes at the man who know realises, he fucked up.
"No, y/n, I didn't mean- this pool it's much deeper I just don't want you to-"
"To what? To drown? I don't need your help, just leave me alone," you managed to choke out before gripping the hell out of Dahyun's hand and dipping your toes in the water.
She squeaked a little bit but held it in for your sake. With deep breaths, you kept lowering your foot, until the water was up till your ankle. Slowly, you bent your other leg and sat down, letting both legs dangle freely in the pool. Your hands were pressed to the tiled floor so hard they left marks on your palms. The bottom was right there. You could see it. You felt that you could reach it.
"y/n be careful," Jungkook tried to warn you.
"I said leave me alone," you snapped. You lifted yourself with your hands, and dropped your body in.
The cold water pierced your skin all the way up to your chest. Your breath hitched and your toes slowly pressed up against the tiles. That's it. You were standing in the water. And you did it all by yourself. The only problem now, was that you were too afraid to move.
"I did it," you whispered.
Dahyun yelled and cheered from behind you. "Taehyung get your ass over here!"
Your best friend didn't waste a second. He joined in with his girlfriend's cheering. They were a really loud couple.
"That's great, y/n. I think that's enough for today," your coach said pleased with your surprising performance.
"Okay, out you get!" Taehyung said reaching his hands out towards you.
You slowly turned your body around, hands still gripping the side of the pool. Taehyung slowly but firmly gripped your arms and practically lifted your body out like you were a rubber duck and stood you on your feet. Dahyun wrapped a towel around you and urged you back to the benches. You felt a pair of eyes bore into the side of your head but you couldn't bring yourself to look.
"That'll show him," Dahyun whispered to you cheekily, making you smile wider.

There was a buzz that filled you for the rest of the week. Sure, you stood in the pool before. But you had Jungkook there to help you. His strong arms holding you in place. You still remember his eyes, the way he couldn't stop looking at you. Yet this time, there was no overwhelming fear. Somehow the water felt calmer. Safer.
Jungkook lurked in the hallways once in a while, making sure to stay clear from your path. He knew you weren't too happy with him, and he didn't want to make things worse. It took every fibre in his body not to run up and talk to you. To tell you how amazing you did. To tell you that he was proud of you. To tell you that he was sorry. It hurt to see you look away from him so quickly whenever the two of you crossed paths.
Jungkook sighed at the thought of it as he shuffled through the piles of student reports on his desk. The semester was coming to an end, and he only had so much time to manually enter each grade into the system. It drove him nuts.
"You'd think by we'd have computers to do this for me," he muttered in frustration.
He chucked the report aside as soon as he was done with it, and swiftly picked up the next.
y/n l/n
Jungkook paused for a second. He ran a hand over his face in frustration. It was like he couldn't escape you, and he couldn't escape his guilt. He hated that you thought of him so lowly.
"I've liked you for years..."
"Years, huh?", Jungkook whispered to himself. "If only she knew."
A loud scream pulled Jungkook out of his thoughts. What the hell was that? It was late, school ended just about three hours ago. Who'd be around at this time?
He stepped out of his office trying to follow the noise. Jungkook checked every room in a hurry, but just as he ran past the entrance to the pool, he heard muffled cries.
"Help! Oh god...", someone sobbed.
Jungkook wasted no time. He ran towards the voice echoing throughout the room until he saw you. Jungkook stopped abruptly. There you were- drowning.
"y/n!" he yelled and jumped into the water immediately.
You were flailing, struggling to keep your head above the water. Soon enough, a pair of arms were lifting you by the waist and hoisting you up onto the pool's edge. Jungkook jumped out in a second and held you by your side, taking off his shirt in a flash to wipe the water from your eyes and sweeping the hair out of your face. You coughed and sputtered, trying to breathe normally.
"Here, it's okay. Just try and catch your breath, alright?" he said soothingly as he firmly pat your back, helping you cough the water out.
Your head hung low as you wheezed, one hand on your chest and the other instinctively placed on Jungkook's forearm. Slowly the atmosphere became quiet, with your softening breathing and Jungkook's gentle words of affirmation.
"What happened?" he asked softly.
You finally had the courage to look up. When you saw the concern in his eyes, you couldn't help the tears starting to flow out of yours.
"I-" you sniffled, "I'm so stupid."
"What? No-"
"You were right. I can't do it. I can't get over my fear. I can't swim and I never will. What was I thinking?" you cried angrily wiping the tears from your face.
"y/n, stop that. That's not true, okay? Did you or did you not get into the pool all by yourself the other day?"
"Oh screw that, Jungkook. I just got lucky, probably from some adrenaline rush. I nearly," you took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. "I nearly drowned just now. And if you weren't here I would have- I could have-", your voice cracked, too scared to finish your sentence.
"Don't say that." Jungkook snapped, wrapping his arms around you and pulling your head to his chest.
"That would never happen. Not as long as I'm here." he mumbled softly.
"How did you hear me?" you asked softly.
"Well, you may not be a swimmer but you've got some lungs on you." he cracked a joke, trying to lighten the mood.
You smiled and hit his chest, sitting up again. Jungkook chuckled softly and brushed the hair from your eyes.
"What were you doing in the pool, y/n?" he asked, his tone soft and concerned.
You groaned and faced the stupid pool again. "I told you, I was stupid."
Jungkook paused, then asked, "Did you try to swim?"
"Yeah," you mumbled.
"Why would that be stupid?"
"Well it's not a good idea for someone terrified of the water to jump in headfirst with no one around," you said trying to explain the obvious.
"That's not true, I was around."
"Jungkook," you huffed. "You know what I mean."
"It's still not stupid, y/n," he said firmly, gently turning your chin to face him. "It's called being brave. And every day, I see you getting braver ad braver."
You resigned, shaking your head.
"It's true," Jungkook emphasised. "Just weeks ago you couldn't even dip your toes in the water. And when I did manage to get you in, you nearly beat me up while you panicked. You jumped in there not knowing that I- well, that anyone was around to help you."
You stayed silent, thinking about it.
"You jumped in because you were brave enough to do it alone. I don't call that fear and I sure as hell don't call that stupidity," he added.
It felt good hearing him say that, because a part of you knew it was true.
"Thank you, for saving me," you said looking at him. "Again."
The corner of his lips lifted slightly at that remark, and all you wanted to do was kiss it.
"No thanks needed, it wasn't even a question. Besides if you had drowned, I would have never gotten to tell you the truth and it would have killed me," Jungkook said.
"About that, Jungkook I-"
"No listen, please. Any other time, I'd let you speak first, I'd let you talk over me, I'd let you do absolutely anything y/n, but right now I have to tell you this before you remember that you hate me again," he rushed.
"I don't hate you," you said sympathetically.
"Well you should, considering what you thought I did. But I didn't do whatever it is you think I did, y/n."
"Okay, tell me. I'm listening."
Jungkook exhaled slowly. "It's true I'm being considered for a promotion. And it's true that it was my idea to help you get over your fear," he explained. "But what isn't true was that I did one to achieve the other. I would never use you, y/n. I would never use anyone like that."
"So why did she say it, Jungkook?" your voice sounding hurt.
He shook his head. "That was her own ridiculous assumption. Miss Jiyoung has no idea what she's talking about and she had no right saying that, especially when she knew you were standing right there."
You sighed. It was true. She said it, not Jungkook.
"I still don't get why you offered to teach me," you said sounding unsure.
Jungkook laughed softly, "Isn't it obvious, y/n?"
You stared at him clueless. "Jungkook, if I knew, I wouldn't be asking-" you said annoyed.
"Because I like you. Because I'm head over heels for you. Because I think I might actually be falling in love with you."
"Wh-Really?" you squeaked out embarrassed.
Jungkook looked almost offended. "Um yes, really. For years now. I wouldn't have kissed you otherwise. I wouldn't have offered to take extra hours out of my day to be with you. Just you, if I may add. And I wouldn't have been in such turmoil knowing how mad you were with me."
You blushed at the mention of the first kiss you had with Jungkook.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry..." you laughed softly. "I just, don't know what to say."
"You don't have to say anything right now-"
"No, I mean. I like you too, Jungkook. I more than like you, I-"
"You've had a crush on me for years too, I know," he replied smugly, a smirk adorning his face. If only he hadn't looked so hot while he smirked you would have slapped it off his face by now.
"Oh shut up! I just blurted that out because I was mad."
"So it's not true?"
"It's...not untrue."
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "Okay, so it's true?"
"Can we move on?" you groaned, feeling embarrassed.
Jungkook laughed, "Alright." He paused for a moment. "I forgot to mention, I actually gave up the promotion."
"What?" you said quickly.
"Yeah I, well it didn't seem like a good idea anymore. And I would have felt terrible if I took it, so-"
"No! Jungkook, what are you stupid?"
"Hey-"
"You walk into that office right now and you ask for your promotion back."
"y/n, I'm not-"
"That's what I wanted to tell you before your 'I'm not supposed to interrupt you' apology."
"It was a fair request," he mumbled in defense.
"Well what's not fair is giving up everything you've worked so hard for just because of me. I thought about it a lot Jungkook, and you deserve that job with our without coaching me because the truth is you're a fucking fantastic swimmer and an excellent teacher and you've represented this school more times than I have fingers and toes, so if there's going to be anyone for our swim students, it's you, because there is no way in hell they are going to make it without you," you said poking a finger to his chest.
Jungkook looked stunned for a minute. His hand slowly reached up to circle your wrist pointed at his chest and pulled it down.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" you asked confused.
"Because there's nothing to say, only something I need to do."
You smiled. He was right. All he had to do was walk back into that office and get that promotion.
"Then do it."
Jungkook's hand threaded in your hair and pulled your head towards him, capturing your lips and kissing them hard. Your breath got knocked out of your lungs as your hands reached forward to steady yourself against his chest. You responded just as eagerly, feeling his tongue brush against yours. He pulled away, trying to catch his breath as he looked into your eyes. He planted a brief kiss on your nose making you smile, before he leaned back again.
"That wasn't what I meant when I said go do it," you teased.
He shrugged, smirking slightly, "Well, it was for me."
"Wipe that smirk off your face and go get your promotion back!"
"Or what?" he prodded.
"Or this." You leaned forward and kissed that stupid smirk off his face. Finally.
You quickly stood up after, chucking his t-shirt in his face and running to take a shower and get changed.
"You better be all promotion-ed up before I'm done!" you yelled laughing as you ran.
Jungkook grinned, quick to catch up after you. "No running near the pool!"
--------------------------------
Your report card must be fooling you. Otherwise, you had no words to explain the A minus next to physical education.
"Of course, the one who fucks the PE teacher gets the best grades, why am I even surprised?" Taehyung said sarcastically.
You cringed, "You're just jealous because you couldn't pull the PE teacher, idiot," you said snatching the thing back from him.
"She's right, you couldn't," Jungkook shrugged as he approached your table at the cafe.
You beamed proudly at Taehyung eliciting an eye-roll from your best friend.
"Hi, baby," Jungkook mumbled as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head and pulled his chair out to sit down next to you.
"Hi-" you started but stopped mid sentence when you saw the package in his hand. "What's that?"
Jungkook lifted the neatly wrapped brown package with your name written on in his cute, squiggly handwriting.
"Oh, nothing. Just an early birthday present for someone," he teased.
"W- her birthday's not for another month," Taehyung complained.
"Nothing wrong in being prepared. Maybe you could learn a thing or two," Dahyun muttered the last bit under her breath from next to her boyfriend.
"Okay, I'm sorry, when did this become an 'all hail Jungkook' and 'let's roast the hell out of Taehyung' party? I am actually the cohesion in this group, okay?" he complained.
"Aw, settle down, Tae. You know we love you," you cooed to get on his nerves.
"Yeah babe, don't be upset. You want me to buy you a cookie?" Dahyun reassured stroking his arm.
Jungkook laughed, "Let's give him some credit. Taehyung actually gave me the idea to get you this." He handed the present over to you, chuckling at the excitement in your eyes.
As you carefully opened the gift, afraid to rip through the wrapping paper, you heard Jungkook say, "I'll be away next month for the annual swim meet. I won't be able to see her for her birthday so, I thought I'd try and make up for it however I can."
"Nice try, but you can't buy my best friend over wit-"
"Oh my god, oh my GOD. Are you for real?" you exclaimed laughing.
Dahyung peered excitedly over the opposite side of the table. "What?! Show me, show us!"
Jungkook smiled sheepishly, "It's really nothing fancy."
You pulled out from the pretty pink box - the colour of rose petals to be exact - a framed certificate of your beginner swimming course that you took over the summer with Jungkook's help.
You laughed, unable to wipe the grin off your face as you looked at Jungkook with the utmost adoration.
"I can't believe this. This is so amazing, Jungkook, I never in a million years thought I'd be holding this in my hands," you laughed, warmth filling your chest.
You looked up from the frame to see him smiling down at you.
"I love you," you said softly.
Jungkook looked a little taken aback. He smiled softly, the blush on his cheeks unable to hide his embarrassment from your sudden confession.
"I love you. I'm so proud of you," he whispered before leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your lips.
"Okay, not gonna lie that was kinda cute," Taehyung whispered to his girlfriend.
"It's adorable," Dahyun said fanning the tears out of her eyes.
You giggled and looked at your name printed on the official-looking piece of paper.
"Boy is my mother going to think I spent hours forging this," you whistled.
Jungkook laughed as he draped his arm over your shoulder, "I'll make sure to tell her that it is, in fact, real and very much deserved."
"Wait, y/n, there's something on the back," Dahyun pointed out excitedly.
You frowned and flipped over the frame to see an envelope. You looked up at Jungkook again in curiosity and he only smirked, urging you to open it. You pressed the corners of the envelope open and dumped the contents out into your hand. It was a folded piece of paper. You stretched it out and turned it around to find a printed plane ticket.
"Japan?" you looked at your boyfriend shocked.
He grinned, "For two weeks. I'll be yours all day, every day except on the day of the actual swim meet of course. I love you, but I can't-"
You cut him off with a kiss to his lips. "Shut up. Just shut the hell up and kiss me."
"Gladly," he grinned.

It's Just Water | Jeon Jungkook
Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Synopsis: y/n can't get over her fear of the water, but maybe former swim team captain and current swim coach Jeon Jungkook can help her.
part 1
part 2 (read here!)
Tumblr media
A/N: I am so excited to bring you It's Just Water because I can very much imagine Jungkook being a professional swimmer. I can never stop myself from including a best friend Taehyung because he's just perfect for it. Anyway, part 2 will be coming very soon and it'll be all the more spicy than the first part. Like, reblog or even just leave a note because it would really make my day and hopefully give me the power to write part 2 as well hehe. Thank you all for reading my works so far, sending love to each and every one of you. x
______________________________________________________
"Take my hand." Jungkook whispered already reaching out towards yours.
He grasped it gently and led you towards the water. Your breath hitched and you weren't sure if it was because you were afraid of the water or if it was because Jeon Jungkook was holding your hand. You shut your eyes tightly as you inched towards the water. The scent of chlorine in the air was thick, the air was humid and the noise of splashing water was hard to ignore.
"It's okay, it won't hurt you. And I won't let go, not until you tell me to." he encouraged.
Your eyes opened again and met with his doe black ones watching you with caution and a tinge of worry. The water was softly lapping at your toes as you stood at the edge of the pool. All you had to do was get in. Into the water. It's not like coach was asking you to jump off a springboard high up in the air. You just had to insert yourself into the square. That was all. It's just water y/n.
"Yes, it's just water." Jungkook smiled and laughed along softly.
Did you say that out loud? Fuck. Now he's laughing.
"It's not funny." you snapped suddenly.
His doe eyes lifted up suddenly alarmed by your reaction.
"I-I wasn't- it's not." he agreed quickly.
You ignored his pleading gaze and glared at the water instead. You weren't angry at him. You were angry with this godforsaken irrational fear that you have failed to beat since you were four. It ends now. You took several deep breaths and huffed and puffed the air out of your lungs. You were quite unaware of how long you have been standing at the edge of the pool and possibly making a fool out of yourself in front of the entire classroom but you didn't care. You were going to get into this damn pool.
Just as you found the strength to put one foot out and lean forward that feeling of dread washed over you again but it was too late. You were falling.
"No wait!" you screamed as you expected the water to swallow you whole, but you didn't even come close.
Jungkook had his arm wrapped around your side, his hand still holding yours despite how tightly you may have been gripping it. You looked at him, panicked. He smiled and slowly led you a few steps back, away from the water. You stood there for a couple seconds, letting the embarrassment of the entire situation wash over you. He was still standing there. Why is he still standing there god dammit?
"You didn't tell me to let go. So I didn't." he said softly.
He was looking at you intently. Like he was making sure you were okay. Also, why couldn't you control what you did and did not say out loud?
"Oh." was all you could say as the two of you stared at each other in silence. He was still holding your hand. Ah shit.
"Y-You can let go." you stammered releasing your grip on his hand.
"Right, of course." he said clearing his throat awkwardly and looking towards the pool.
"Jeon! Supervise the next few laps, let's keep this going." coach yelled suddenly blowing that painfully annoying whistle.
Jungkook perked up and yelled a quick 'yes coach' and turned to you. You were standing with your arms crossed avoiding his gaze and everyone else's across the room. You felt pathetic.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked kindly.
"Just leave, Jungkook."
You caught a glimpse of the disappointment that flashed across his features before he nodded and walked off to wherever he needed to be. Stupid captain of the swim team. He probably thought you were such a loser.
"He's stupid hot, that's for sure." your best friend chimed in out of absolutely nowhere.
"Stop reading my mind!" you said punching his arm.
"It's hard not to when you literally speak it, y/n. Also what was that?" he added dramatically.
"What was what?" you muttered as you walked with Taehyung over to the side to wallow in shame.
"I sensed a lot of tension. 70% sexual." he said casually.
"Shut the hell up, Taehyung." you hissed, "He was doing his job. You know, making sure I didn't drown."
"Sure, y/n. Next thing you know you're making out in the pool and you're telling me it's his job to help you hold your breath long enough to stay underwater-"
You brought the towel off your shoulders to whip it across Taehyung's face making him dramatically cry out and wince so loud it echoed across the entire pool.
Your cheeks flushed red as you looked away pretending not to know him while Taehyung's demeanour did a complete 180 before that boxy grin was back on his face and he was exclaiming to everyone around him that he was okay.
You sighed. Sometimes you can't stand this dork.
Soon swimming period was over. You thanked the gods you only had to do this once every two weeks which increased your chance of survival slightly. You were pretty sure if Jungkook hadn't held on to you and brought you back to safety it would have been a much worse debacle that would have had you walking out of the room drenched and in shame. You wanted to thank him for it, but it was too weird. He probably didn't care. He was the former captain of the swim team who graduated last year and is for some reason back at this stupid high school teaching his juniors to swim. He's assisting the coach for a couple months before he's offered a contract to teach swimming full time, so you've heard. You couldn't imagine how someone could love swimming so much, how they could love being in the water so much. It terrified you. You shuddered without realising, making Taehyung quirk an eyebrow at you.
"Hey, are you really okay? I'm sorry I didn't realise how scary that must have been for you." he said looking at you while you stuffed your swim clothes into your locker.
You sighed and shut the locker door, then smiled softly at your best friend.
"It's okay. Do I feel like an idiot? Yes, but that's my fault. Not yours." you said as you started walking, making him follow you.
"You're not an idiot, y/n-"
"I didn't say I was one, just said I felt like one."
Taehyung rolled his eyes and shoved you slightly towards the library doors. The two of you took your usual spots in a less crowded corner and pulled out study materials from your bags.
"My point is, having an irrational fear is normal. If you ask me, I think it's a crime that the school still makes you attend swim lessons." he said slapping a page of his textbook open.
You chuckled as you flipped through the pages of your novel preparing to have a relaxing free period after the traumatic episode.
"Yeah, why couldn't I have just been scared of spiders or heights or something." you huffed.
"Aren't you scared of spiders?"
"Ye-that's not the point!"
"Shh!" you heard the librarian call out from her desk. But when you looked up you felt some of the colour drain from your face.
Jeon Jungkook. He was at the librarian's desk. He was standing there with his freshly styled hair after the swim session in his joggers and his stupid swim team jacket leaning against the counter looking straight at you while the librarian you managed to piss off was at her chair sending you a warning stare. Why is he always there to witness these embarrassing moments.
You swear you saw him laugh softly making you tear your gaze away from him and bury your nose into your book. That asshole. How dare he laugh at you. Meanwhile, Taehyung was snickering softly while highlighting his textbook a neon pink.
"If I could curse him, I would." you mumbled.
"He's not that bad, he saved your life a few hours ago remember?"
"Oh please, someone else would have saved me if he wasn't around."
"Really? Sure as hell wouldn't have been me."
"I wouldn't be caught dead being saved my someone who uses neon pink to highlight his notes."
"Hey, boys can like pink you know! Speaking of which I think that's your lover boy's favourite colour." he raised his eyebrows suggestively.
"What?" you laughed softly. "How do you know? Also don't call him that." you threatened at the end.
Taehyung shrugged, "Could tell by the way he was looking at you in your pink swimsuit earlier."
"Taehyung!" you exclaimed as you smacked him.
"Ahem."
A voice sent chills down your spine as both you and Taehyung jumped in your seats slightly to look at the person standing at your table.
"I've been told to tell you guys that this isn't the cafeteria, it's the library. Ms Chen's words, not mine." Jungkook said raising his hands up defensively.
You wanted to dig yourself a hole and then die in it. You were so loud that Jeon Jungkook had to come over and quiet you down. Personally.
"Sorry, Mr Jeon. y/n and I just seem to be having a disagreement. We'll keep it out of the library." Taehyung said confidently.
There's just something about attractive men, and confidence. Your best friend was attractive no doubt. But were you attracted to him? Absolutely not. Taehyung is an idiot. Possibly the idiot of all idiots but you loved him, as a friend. And right now, you wished you could unfriend him instead.
"Oh, what about? Sorry I realise that's intrusive. Just let me know if I can help out with anything." Jungkook said smiling politely.
"Actually, Mr Jeon," Taehyung piped in making you send him warning glares, "y/n thinks boys can't like pink. She's being sexist."
"Taehyung." you growled under your breath.
Jungkook's eyes widened in amusement and you could just feel his stare on you.
"Is that true, y/n?" he asked with a small lopsided smile on his face.
"Wha-no! I never said-"
"Those are hurtful words, y/n. Especially since pink's my favourite colour." he said placing both arms on the table in front of you casually.
Your eyes finally met his during the entire conversation. He was looking at you so endearingly. His stare caused this bubbly feeling in the pit of your stomach and you liked it so much that you feared liking it a bit too much. He was very obviously teasing you, and you loved it and hated it at the same time. God how is he doing this.
"I didn't mean...it is?" you asked your tone breathless from how much his gaze alone was suffocating you.
His smile morphed into a tiny smirk and it was probably the most attractive thing you've ever seen. This wasn't the Jeon Jungkook you knew last year. He's a man now. He's also your swim coach. Fuck he's your swim coach. Oh god no.
"Yes, the colour of pink rose petals to be exact."
What the hell why was he telling you this. The swimsuit. Your swimsuit was the colour of pink rose petals. Son of a bitch.
You gave him a tight lipped smile and sat back in your seat, bringing your novel to your chest acting as if you were prepared to go back to reading.
"That's a lovely colour, Mr Jeon." you said avoiding his gaze.
He watched you intently, soon realising the two of you weren't the only ones at the table before he cleared his throat.
"Yes it certainly is. And I didn't come here just to follow through with Ms Chen's orders, so y/n I need to see you in my office after school. That okay?"
What. What? What!
"I- oh, yes sure." you stammered, realising your confidence from a moment earlier was only fleeting.
"Great, I'll see you then. Taehyung, you've got a bit of highlighter on your cheek." he pointed out with a smile before leaving.
"Holy hell y/n that man wants you." Taehyung blew out a whistle.
"What the fuck is wrong with you he's my swim coach! My teacher! This is so inappropriate." you freaked out your voice the sound of a whisper.
"Man he really got your panties in a twist, huh? Look at you, you're falling apart."
"Don't talk about my fucking panties Taehyung. Why does he want to see me? God, he held my hand today, then he caught me by the waist and just now he's here self-proclaiming his love for pink rose petals fuck-"
"Hey, hey! y/n, calm down. Listen, it's Jungkook, okay? We've known him for forever. He was a year above us so it's not weird, you guys practically went to school together. Also he's probably only a year older than you. But on another note, I'm sure he has a valid reason for calling you in okay? He's a good guy, I don't think he has bad intentions." Taehyung said as he placed his hands on your shoulders to calm you down.
You sighed, burying your face in the palms of your hands. "Really?"
"Yes, really. He was in my French class last year for extra credit. Competitive swimming is time consuming apparently."
"Of course it is." you rolled your eyes at him.
"The point being, I was with him in that class and he was a nice guy. I was even friends with him at one point."
"Excuse me what? Why the hell am I just hearing about this?"
Taehyung smirked, "You would have loved to have me introduce you because you've had a crush on him for years, is that why you're upset?"
"Taehyung I will walk all the way back to my locker, grab my sports towel, walk back in here and whip the hell out of you if you don't quit it." you seethed.
"Okay, wrong joke for the wrong time." he swallowed thickly. "So, basically he's a hottie and he's nice. He respects women and he swims. What more could you ask for y/n?"
"You sure you're not the one who has a crush on him, Tae?"
"I don't know. Maybe."
_________________________________
It was 5pm. You were walking to Jeon Jungkook's office. It felt like you were approaching your doom.
"Snap out of it, y/n. It's just Jungkook." you told yourself.
Yes, it was just Jungkook. The Jungkook you've had a crush on for five years. The Jungkook who once let you use the boys locker room toilets because the girls one was locked for some reason. That's a story for another time. But hell, you were going to see Jeon Jungkook. In his office. Ah crap.
"Come in." he answered a few seconds after you knocked on his door.
You shimmied inside and stood at the door awkwardly waiting for his instruction.
"You can close the door. Those god damn flies always make it in during summer."
You laughed softly and shut the door before taking a seat in front of his desk. He was still putting away some papers in some boxes behind him, grunting as he did so.
"Sorry y/n, just give me a minute."
"That's fine!" you said a bit enthusiastically and forced yourself to shut up after.
You saw the corner of his mouth lift up for a brief second before frowning at the boxes in front of him. His office looked like how any sports coach's office would look. Medals, trophies, swim team pictures. He had a lot of achievements that's for sure. You remembered watching him once. It was a big event. He was representing the school for the first time, and he was a young boy that held so much promise. It was the first year our school had won. Everyone was beaming with pride. But you watched Jungkook carefully. You saw the look in his eyes. He looked so frightened you thought he might just throw up. You saw how he masked it so quickly, and went back to sinking in all the glory. Every year since, that fear you saw him mask looked more and more practised. You didn't know why you were at every game. You just were.
"So! y/n..." he said smiling as he chucked a box away and put a file on his desk, looking at you.
You flinched slightly at his enthusiasm and smiled back politely.
"Am I in trouble, Mr Jeon?"
He chuckled, "Well, not really. Okay maybe a little."
His words had you tense and as soon as he saw the worried look on your face he laughed again to reassure you.
"No it's alright, it's nothing serious. Here, I was just looking for your student file. It was buried quite deep in there so I'm assuming sports isn't your forte."
"Ouch, words hurt Mr Jeon." you winced.
He laughed again, making you smile. "Sorry, that was mean. But in all seriousness y/n, you're sorta kinda failing swim class." he said regretfully.
You scoffed, "Yeah I wouldn't be surprised."
"I know of your....um..."
He looked so unsure you decided to save him the embarrassment.
"My fear of the water, yes."
He smiled awkwardly and nodded. "Yes, I can't say I understand how it feels but I saw the look in your eyes today and you were terrified. I'm sorry I put you through that."
You looked down, feeling pathetic again. "It's fine, you didn't know."
"So I proposed an idea, to the school."
You looked at him again, his eyes gleaming with excitement to tell you whatever news he has. He took your silence as a cue to continue.
"I told them instead of teaching you how to swim, I'd teach you to get over your fear of water. They've been approaching it all wrong. So I'm willing to help you, if that's something you're interested in."
You stared at him in shock. So Jungkook basically went up to the entire school board to tell them that he personally wanted to teach you to get over your fear of the water.
"What?" you spluttered. "Teach me to get over my fear? That's impossible, Mr Jeon, with all due respect, I've tried. I have been trying all my life it's just not as easy as you think-"
"I never said it was easy. And it's also not impossible. I can help you, if you'd let me. You just have to trust me y/n. It'll only be for this semester and if by the end of it you feel like it isn't working we'll stop. It also gives me a way to assess you. I'll come up with tasks and as you complete each of them you'll build up a score that I can use to add to your report card."
"But why?" you asked.
Jungkook seemed a little confused. "Why? Because I don't want you to fail swim class."
"And why don't you want me to fail swim class? I'm just another student. If I fail, then I fail. What's it to you?" you fired at him. You didn't realise how rude you sounded until it came out of your mouth.
Jungkook looked slightly taken aback, but his response was calm.
"Because I love to swim y/n. And it pains me to see someone so scared of the water. It's a beautiful thing, if you allow yourself to see it."
You chewed on your lip as you processed all this new information. Jungkook was asking you if he could get rid of your fear. In normal circumstances, you wouldn't mind saying yes. But it was Jungkook. You'd have alone time with Jungkook five days of the week for two hours. You might as well fuck him at this point. NO. Okay, retrace. That sounds like something Taehyung would say. You made a mental note not to hang out with him anymore.
"y/n? Look, I'm sorry if this is too forward I just thought-"
"Sure."
Jungkook looked at you almost surprised. "Sure...you'll do it?"
"Yeah. What have I got to lose?"
Jungkook beamed at you as he closed your file and set it to the side.
"Great! So we'll start tomorrow. Also I forgot to mention this means you don't have to go to regular swim classes anymore so that's a plus."
You giggled at how happy he seemed telling you that. "That's good news, Mr Jeon."
He smiled fondly at you before looking down briefly.
"Okay then, dismissed. Or whatever teachers say. Sorry, I'm still getting used to this." he said laughing nervously.
You stood up to gather your things and smiled at him.
"I think you're doing good. Everyone seems to like you."
"They do?" he asked curiously.
"Yeah I mean, you're basically a student too. I guess that makes you more familiar."
"Right." he said shortly. "And what did you think of me?"
Jungkook caught you off guard. What do you think of him? Who even asks that?
"I- excuse me?" you asked a little bit startled.
"I-I mean, sorry, I should have phrased that better. I mean, how are you finding swim classes with me as assistant coach? Would you say it was better without me?" he asked sheepishly.
You giggled as you slung your bag across your shoulder, "I think I'm the wrong person to ask, Mr Jeon."
He laughed and nodded, "That bad, huh?"
"Well I'm hoping you can change that."
Jungkook looked up at you from his seat, looking like he was about to say something, but stopped himself.
"Mr Jeon?"
"Yeah?" he said snapping out of it.
"I'm sorry, about earlier." you added.
He stood up and walked over to the front of his desk, leaning back against it with his arms crossed. Why did he have to come closer god dammit?
"What about? If it's the library it's fine, Ms Chen shushes like fifty people a day she doesn't take it personally."
You laughed and shook your head, making him smile.
"No I- well sorry about that too but, I just, I shouldn't have called you by your name. You know, at the pool. It was...well it wasn't right."
Jungkook smiled kindly, "It's okay, y/n. You'd been through a lot."
You scoffed, "Well that's just the thing isn't it, it's not a lot. It's just water!"
"You could say that about anything, you know? It's just spiders. It's just the dark. It's never just anything. If you stop thinking of water as something that's against you, you can let it in. Then maybe you won't be so afraid anymore."
Your gaze met his. He wasn't just looking at you. He was staring.
"I-maybe." you mumbled looking away.
He smiled and pushed himself off the desk, holding the door open for you.
"I'll see you tomorrow, y/n. And if you chicken out, I will fail you."
"Alright, alright." you grumbled as you walked towards the exit.
Jungkook chuckled inwardly as he saw your defeated expression.
"Thanks, Mr Jeon."
"You know I think I actually prefer Jungkook."
___________________________________________
You thought when Jungkook said you didn't have to attend regular swim sessions it meant you had a two hour free period that day. Turns out, you just had to sit there and watch everybody swim. Including Jungkook. And damn did everyone love watching him swim. He cut through water like it was nothing. It was like he wasn't even there. He would just dive in, disappear, and then reappear at the end. And he always won. Of course, everyone cheered for him whenever he did a demonstration. The look of embarrassment on his face after was adorable. What you didn't understand was why his eyes would search for your after every stunt he pulled. Was he showing off? Jeez.
Coach asked you to take down notes of whatever you learned during each swim class since you weren't going to swim. They would be assessed, apparently. God knows how, but at this point you were just doodling mini drawings of a swimming pool. The book was snatched out of your hands causing you to leave a long pencil stroke across the page. You looked up and it was Jungkook in front of you. Shirtless. Body dripping with water. Abs practically in your face. You choked on your breath and stood up so that you were closer to eye level with him.
"That was rude." you complained. "Can I please have my notes back? I'm trying to learn over here."
Jungkook smiled in amusement as he held the notebook higher and inspected it.
"A very accurate piece on modern water sport, Ms y/n. Very commendable." he joked.
You scoffed at him, a small smile playing on your lips.
"I don't know what he expects me to do! Make notes? What do I even say? That coach blows his whistle way too much for his own good? It can distract a swimmer's performance you know? Actually wait, give me that back I should write this down."
Jungkook laughed and gave the note book back to you, watching you scribble your genius idea of a note.
"I'm going to ace this." you said smiling in satisfaction once you wrote it down.
"Not so fast, everything's easier when you're not in the water."
"Just let me have this, Mr Jeon." you groaned.
He chuckled. "Jungkook," he corrected. "And I'll see you after school. Don't be a chicken!" he yelled as he scurried back off to the water.
You rolled your eyes and plopped back into your seat. Stupid water loving man.
When school was over you dragged your feet to your locker knowing full well this wasn't the end of the day. Why did you even agree to this? It's not like you wanted to be able to swim that bad. And you just sacrificed ten hours of your life weekly. That's about 40 hours in a month. That's 480 hours a year. You groaned as you very unwillingly took your swimsuit out of your locker. Taehyung wouldn't miss your misery for the world, so he was standing right next to you gloating about how he could go home and eat French fries while playing Overwatch.
"It's kinda like a date."
"It's not a date." you grumbled.
"He offered to teach you. Personally. One to one. For free."
"Look Taehyung, if you don't get out of here I will drag you to these classes myself."
"And ruin your date? I don't think so. I'm not into being a third wheel."
You sighed, giving up. You weren't ready to spend two hours alone with Jungkook. More so in a pool. God did you hate the pool.
"Besides, I've got a date."
Your eyes snapped up to your best friend's face.
"A date? With who? Is this person clinically okay?"
"Oh shut up y/n, I'm hot, if you haven't noticed. And many people would love to date me."
You chuckled, satisfied you got on his nerves. "So who is she? Or he, actually."
"It's a she. Her name is Dahyun and she asked me out." Taehyung said crossing his arms and leaning against his locker.
"Impressive. Dahyun's pretty popular for her year. Never knew she was into older guys but I'm not surprised."
"I hope she's not a bore." Taehyung sighs.
"You'll be fine. That's what dates are for. Let me know how it goes, I gotta run."
"Oh yes, your date with your swim coach. Don't wanna be late."
"One day, I will murder you."
"Have fun!"
As you entered the space the smell already made you sick to the stomach. Jungkook didn't seem to be here yet which was great because that gave you time to change. You walked into the changing room and put on your pink swimsuit. Did you do it on purpose? Maybe. But did you also only have one swimsuit? Yes. Why the hell should you have more anyway. You hated the water. As you put your belongings in the sports lockers you heard footsteps entering the pool. It was probably Jungkook. You quickly finished up, tied your hair into a ponytail and stepped back out. And there he was. Stretching by the side lines, a loose black t-shirt covering the upper half of his body and his swim tracks underneath. He stood upright just as he saw you and grinned.
"You're early. I'm surprised."
"I may be a bad swimmer but I'm a good student." you retorted.
"Of course." he agreed. He paused to take off his shirt and throw it onto a bench before he walked towards the water and beckoned you to follow him.
You gulped, this was going to be intense.
"So, y/n, are you ready?"
"Not in the slightest, no."
He chuckled and turned his body to face you.
"We'll start slow. And if you ever need a time out, the word is bubbles. Okay?"
You couldn't stop your smile from emerging at his use of the word bubbles but you nodded and Jungkook began.
"Let's start by sitting at the edge of the pool." he said already moving to sit down.
You swallowed and managed to follow him by sitting on the floor, but your legs folded and pressed to your chest.
"One at a time." he encouraged softly, looking at you.
You took in a deep breath and slowly inserted your left leg into the water. It wasn't so bad when you were sitting. When it began to get a little bit scary, it was almost as if Jungkook knew. He held your left hand tightly in his.
"I won't let go. Not until you tell me to."
You let out a shuddering breath. "It's cold." you said trying to lighten the mood for yourself.
Jungkook chuckled, "Sorry ma'am should I have gotten a hot tub instead?"
You smacked his arm with your free hand.
"Did you just suggest we get into a hot tub together?"
It was the first time you saw Jungkook flush, and you wanted to laugh at how cute he looked.
"It was a joke."
"Yeah." he huffed sounding almost relieved.
Before you knew it both your legs were in the water.
"I'm-I'm in. Sort of, halfway. But my legs are in." you said in disbelief.
Jungkook smiled and chuckled softly. "Yeah, you are."
You didn't realise how close his body was to yours until your own shook with the rumble of his laughter. You must have inched closer when you were trying to force your legs in. He was still holding your hand, your other gripping his bicep. not on purpose
You slowly moved your legs around in the water. Swishing it here and there, and Jungkook did the same. At one point, your toes bumped into one another making the two of you laugh.
"Shall we move on?" he asked, turning to face you.
When you did the same, your faces were so close it took you by surprise. Jungkook's expression changed, he was studying your features. His gaze moved down to your lips for a fleeting second before forcing itself back to your eyes. You smiled ever so slightly and nodded.
"What's next?" you whispered.
Jungkook swallowed, and moved so that he could slowly insert himself into the water. He was still holding your hand.
"Now try to lower yourself in."
"J-Jungkook-"
"It's okay, I'm here. You can't fall, because I'm here to catch you. No matter what."
You looked into his eyes, unsure.
"I-I can't, Jungkook I'll drown. I can't stand it's too deep-"
"It's not, y/n. Look, over there, see that number?"
You saw the number engraved onto the wall. 4 feet.
"It's impossible. You're way taller than four feet. You can stand. y/n this whole pool is made for your safety. It's maths."
It made sense. Your head would be above water. But what if you lose balance?
"Okay, here," Jungkook said as he jumped out of the pool, hand still holding yours as he pulled you up with him.
He made you stand in front of him, chests nearly touching but not quite.
"Is this okay?" he asked carefully as his one hand hovered over your waist.
You nodded looking up at him. He carefully placed his hand there, his eyes not leaving yours the entire time.
"Can I let go? Just for a second." he said softly, referring to your hands.
You nodded again. He let go and placed his other hand on your waist. You didn't know where to look. You didn't know how to breathe. You were so close you could feel his warmth.
"The water stops here." he said moving his hand from your waist and placing his hand outwards and against your arm to mark the water level.
He put his hand back on your waist and held it a little firmer than before.
"And no matter what happens, I've got you. Okay? I'll hold you in place. Just for 60 seconds. Is that okay?"
You bit your lip and nodded. "Yeah okay." you said breathlessly.
Jungkook guided you to the water again. He jumped in easily, but he made you sit down like before. He put his hands on your waist again, and you rested yours on his shoulders.
"On the count of three, I'll bring you in okay? Just hold on to me."
You nodded nervously as your eyes darted everywhere. You were really doing this. You were going into the water.
"y/n, look at me."
So you did. He was watching you carefully. His kind eyes reassured you.
"Just look at me, don't think about anything else. I'll support you. Just focus on that."
"Okay." you said in a strained voice.
"One.
Two.
Three."
You were going in. This is it. This is how you die.
"Nononono wait, I can't. I can't-JUNGKOOK!"
"Shhhh, y/n-"
"Get me OUT! Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god." you cried as you practically clung onto your swim coach with your arms around his neck and your face buried in his chest.
You started to kick and struggle, but Jungkook didn't budge. Man he was strong.
"Jungkook I can't do this. Please get me out, please please please. Jeon Jungkook if you don't get me out right now I will come for you and your family do you hear me?! I'm not playing!"
"y/n!" he yelled suddenly, silencing you.
You stared at him blankly as he looked down at you.
"y/n for god's sakes you're in the water. You did it. You're standing. Look." he nudged his head downwards so that you would too.
And there they were. Your feet on the pool floor, your head above water, and Jungkook's hands on your waist.
"I...those are mine?" you asked stupidly.
Jungkook rolled his eyes and laughed, "Yes, dummy. Those are your feet."
"They look so pretty, in the water." you droned off, still in shock that you were standing in a pool.
"You are." Jungkook mumbled without hesitation.
"What?" your head snapped up.
"Nothing, you passed the first lesson. Good job."
"Wait, there's more? I thought you were just supposed to get me in the water!"
"That wasn't the deal, I was supposed to help you get over your fear. You're telling me that if I let you go you won't freak?"
"Of course not, I'm already in the water I'm all set."
"Okay, if you say so." Jungkook said as he slowly started to release his grip on you.
"No wait, NO! DON'T LET GO." you cried, pressing your body closer to his.
You felt Jungkook grunt and exhale sharply. You looked up to see if he was okay, only to find your lips inches apart. You looked down at them and you felt Jungkook's grip on you tighten. A small force from the water pushed at you from the back making you move closer to him causing your lips to brush. Your eyes closed instinctively but the next thing you know Jungkook is lifting you by the waist to seat you at the edge of the pool. You stare at him in confusion as he pushes himself up to the surface and walks past you to get his things.
"Today was good progress. We'll continue tomorrow. I'll wait for you to use the girls locker room, and I'll lock up after." he said not sparing you a glance as he grabbed his towel and trudged off to the men's shower room.
You were trying to catch your breath. So your lips touched. No big deal. It's just what swim coaches do with their students. You weren't mad at Jungkook for holding back because you understood his predicament. But you were also mad because you were petty. If that's the game he wanted to play then you were going to push him, see how much he could resist you. You got into the shower and did a quick clean. You blow dried your hair and put on the matching bra and underwear set you brought with you and grabbed a bottle of lotion. You emptied the contents into the toilet bowl feeling bad that it was going to waste but you were on a mission. You did one last twirl of your hair before walking out of the girl's locker room and into the men's. Jungkook was sitting there on the bench using his phone and looked up as soon as he heard your footsteps. As soon as his eyes landed on you, you could hear his heartbeat stop. He froze, unable to stop himself from raking his eyes up and down your body.
You smiled innocently and held up the empty lotion bottle.
"They were all out of lotion, I was wondering if the men's room had some." you asked sweetly.
Jungkook looked like a deer caught in headlights, and it was so amusing you had to stop yourself from laughing. He got up slowly and you saw how hard it was to tear his gaze from you.
"L-Lotion?" he squeaked before clearing his throat and walking over to the cabinet.
He pulled out a bottle and as soon as he turned around you were standing in front of him in such close proximity. You took the lotion out of his hands and smiled sweetly as you patted his chest.
"Thank you, Mr Jeon."
You turned around and moved to the bench, aware that Jungkook was still frozen in place. You placed one foot on the bench and started to apply the lotion on your outstretched leg, and finally your whole body.
Jungkook didn't say a word. He tried to look away, but for some reason there was nowhere else to look. When you were done, you stood up straight, put your hands on your hips and twirled your hair with your fingers.
"Aw I think I forgot to bring a pair of clothes. Do you happen to have any extra?" you asked casually.
Jungkook frowned, his arms crossed over his chest.
"What happened to your uniform?"
You shrugged, "Must have lost it."
Jungkook's mouth gaped slightly at your attitude, soon he was clenching it shut. He walked to his bag and pulled out his emergency set of clothes and held it out to you.
You smiled and thanked him before raising your arms over your head and draping his t-shirt over yourself. It was massive, but god was it comfortable. You slipped on his shorts, they were tight fitted so they shaped your legs and butt nicely. You made a mental note to buy mens tights, they looked better. Jungkook's gaze never left you this time around. His face looked troubled and his eyes were piercing.
"I'm good to go." you shrugged, flashing him another innocent smile.
Jungkook sighed and grabbed his things rather roughly and unexpectedly grabbed your wrist, pulling you out of the locker room and out of the pool. You stood behind him, watching as he locked up. When he was done he turned around and looked down at you.
"Thanks for the lesson, coach." you piped up. "I'm really proud of what I did today."
His eyes softened for a second and he nodded, "Yeah, you should be. Tomorrow we'll work on holding your breath underwater. Don't be a-"
"I'm not a chicken! Did you not see what I managed to do today? For eighteen years I couldn't even bring myself to touch the water but today I stood in it. So no, I absolutely will not chicken ou-"
His lips. His lips were on yours. It drove you insane. Your hands latched onto his neck and his arms went to your waist. It was just like in the pool. Your hands threaded through his hair, and it was almost like something in him snapped. He kissed you harder, held you tighter.
"y/n," he said breathless in between kisses, "you knew what you were doing to me, didn't you?"
"What do you mean?" you gasped when he moved his lips to your neck and let his head rest there.
"I'm your swim coach, y/n."
"And you were in my Biology class a year ago."
"Well that was a year ago y/n, I'm a teacher now." he said pulling back to look at you, a pained expression on his face.
"You're my student."
"No I'm not." you snapped. Something about that sentence ticked you off, and you didn't like it.
"y/n-"
"If this matters so much to you then why did you just kiss me?"
He was quiet, seeming like he had his own battle going on in his mind.
You scoffed, "You know what? I'm not doing this, Jungkook. Not like this. I've liked you for years, and the first time I learn you like me back it's when you're telling yourself you can't be with me. I don't deserve that. You're either in this or you aren't. I can't just have you kissing me when you feel like it."
You tore his arms off your waist and picked up your bag.
"y/n, wait." he said as he held onto your wrist. You stopped moving to look at him.
"I-god y/n. You have no idea." he sighed.
You raised your eyebrow at him in irritation, and he pulled you to him again by your waist.
"Jungkook-" you started to fight.
"Why do you think I offered to help you? Of all people in this school, I chose to do this for you. It's because I'm crazy about you, y/n." he confessed.
You just stood in silence, waiting for him to continue.
"The day you walked out of my office I nearly punched myself because I felt so bad for lying to you. But I meant what I said. About the water, and wanting you to love it too. But I also used it as an excuse to spend time with you. Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is such a bad idea but other times all I want to do is grab you and kiss the hell out of you, y/n."
"So what, Jungkook?" you whispered, not ready to listen to the decision he's about to make.
"I-"
"Jungkook, what are you doing here so late?" you heard a female voice from behind you.
Jungkook had never let you go so quickly. He stepped so far behind it hurt you to witness it.
"Ms Jiyoung, I was just helping out with some extra swimming lessons." he responded like nothing even happened.
You just stood there awkwardly. You couldn't wait to just get out of there.
"They're working you too hard, Jungkook." the teacher said as she held on to his arm affectionately.
She's at least 20 years older than him for god's sakes she could be his mother. You were fuming, waiting for her to finish with her nonsense so you and Jungkook could leave.
Jungkook smiled politely and laughed, "No no, I'm happy to."
"So any news on the contract? I hear it's coming up any time now. The board members have told me how impressed they are with your undertaking of one of your students." she said.
What?
"Oh, well there's no news so far but I'm sure they'll look at my application fairly. Also I really should-"
"Nonsense. I think it's a brilliant idea. A girl who's afraid of the water? If you can make her swim you can do anything. You'll definitely get the job."
No fucking way.
"Anyway, I'll see you around Jungkook. I'm looking forward to seeing you swim at the meet next week."
As she turned the corner Jungkook looked back at you with pleading eyes.
"y/n-"
"Fuck off Jeon Jungkook. I can't believe I fell for your crappy lies about wanting me to love the water, god it was such bullshit. How pathetic can you be." you spat before grabbing your things again and storming off.
If he wanted a student to fix, then you weren't going to be it. Screw Jeon Jungkook, the stupid man who loves the water and messing with women.

Hunk | JJK x Reader
Summary: In your life, you have both Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook. Love is a tricky subject for y/n. But as time passes, love becomes more apparent.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader; Jock!Jungkook; best-friend!Taehyung
You didn't need a relationship. At least that's what you told yourself. It was hard work. Letting someone into your life isn't as easy as it may seem. Relationships aren't anything like friendships. They may not last nearly as long. They are fragile. They require more compromise and more skill to navigate. You weren't afraid of commitment. But maybe you built an idea of love in your head for so long you wanted it to spawn as immediately as the image you conjured in your head. But like all relationships romantic or not, they take time. You know this, but you can't help but stick to your expectations. And so you decided no relationships it is. But Kim Taehyung was persistent. And he just had to be persistent about you.
There was an iced coffee at your favourite study space in the library each day. The coffee was delicious but you had to remind yourself he did not make it. He left his hoodies in a storage locker that you for some reason had the passcode to so you were never cold during your late night study sessions. He never missed saying a 'hello beautiful' when you walked past him first thing in the morning. He bought you sandwiches and removed the tomatoes. He would make sure you got home safe from parties and never let anyone else tamper with your alcohol. He carried you home when you were too tired to walk and he held your hands when you were anxious. He made you laugh when you wanted to give up and be bought you pizza after every godforsaken exam or assignment. Kim Taehyung was perfect. But you kept telling him that he fell in love with the wrong girl.
"Two seats for Thursday." he said as he shot his charming grin at you.
"You don't even like football." you laughed at him as you took a bite out of your sandwich. With no tomatoes of course.
"It's good to keep up with the trends, y/n. You and I have no clue how football works but we went to the varsity finals anyway. It's fun!"
"So basically you have a severe case of fomo." you stared pointedly at him.
"That or I just want to prove to a pretty girl that I too am a man of sport." he smirked.
You scoffed and couldn't help but to laugh at him. "How charming~" you said playfully pretending to swoon.
"So you'll be there?" he asked laughing. He was excited and you didn't have anything to do anyway.
"Only because it's a free ticket." you said chomping on your sandwich.
"You're an expensive woman, you know that?" he joked.
"Hey, I wasn't the one who asked to be courted." you defended.
He smiled. He had a lovely smile that brought out his lovely eyes. Everything about him was lovely.
"I'll see you later, beautiful. I've got a seminar in five minutes." he said as he stood up and fixed his bag strap over his shoulder. "Football isn't all that bad. It'll be funny watching straight men hurt themselves in front of hundreds of people."
You laughed at him, "How do you know they're all straight men? I'm pretty sure their captain's bisexual."
Taehyung raised his eyebrows, "I'll be rooting for him then."
He smiled one last time before literally sprinting away. He was already three minutes late at that point. But he didn't seem to care about anything else when he was with you. You were lost in thought when someone practically crashed into the seat next to you. The entire table moved at least half a metre away from you as a guy lay sprawled on the floor right next to your feet. You gaped at him as he groaned with his eyes shut. He was holding a football. Of course. He recovered soon enough but you could hear a bunch of jocks guffawing from behind you. The injured boy chucked the football back with so much force you felt the wind sweep across your face. But it was all shits and games because he was laughing too. He was up on his feet in a matter of seconds, dusting his varsity jacket and then he looked down at you. You saw his face for the first time. Black hair, black eyes with more piercings than an athlete should have. He smiled at you with a mixture of embarrassment and flirtation present on his face and turned his entire body to face you.
"Hope I didn't hurt you there sweetheart." he said shoving his hands into his pockets.
You decided then and there that he was annoying. The sandwich you were eating was no longer in your hands anymore. You dropped it from shock during the collision. You scoffed and looked at the table he nearly broke into pieces with his body alone.
"How considerate of you." you said sarcastically. "Considering you just hurled your entire hunk of a body at my lunch."
He raised his eyebrow and smiled in amusement. "I can buy you another sandwich."
"No thanks." you said abruptly. "Maybe keep football out of the fucking cafeteria next time?" you added with a tight lipped smile.
He looked like he was about to laugh. He glanced over to his teammates who seem to be walking off already and then turned to look back at you.
"I'll make sure to pass on the message. Wouldn't want any more hunks ruining your lunch, hm? Such a waste of a...what is that, turkey?" he said surveying the ground of your scattered sandwich.
Now you wanted to laugh. What was this guy playing at? You stood up and gathered your things now that your lunch was over. Well, more like ruined.
"It was a turkey, cheddar cheese and lettuce with no tomatoes. Wholemeal bread buttered on both sides with mayo and sriracha. You might want to remember this for when you make me another sandwich, not buy me one. They taste like crap here. Don't disappoint me." you said as you wore the fakest smile you could and gave him a pat on his shoulder just before turning around to leave.
His eyes were on you at all times, corners of his lips pulling up into the tiniest smirk in amusement of your behaviour. No one has ever told Jeon Jungkook to make a sandwich before. Ever. Now he had to ask his captain how to make one without embarrassing himself.
_________
It was a mystery why they held football games on a Thursday. It was the longest day of the week for most people. Classes ran from nine to five and most had a nine am the next morning which is a crime to have on a Friday. Yet you were sat amongst the crowd at 7pm that day next to Taehyung who went all out to be in the football spirit. He bought the two of you jerseys that he begged forced you to wear claiming if this was the only time he would get you to watch a game of football then he had to have a picture of the two of you in matching jerseys. You told him to shut up because he wasn't your boyfriend but he ignored you anyway.
You had a tower of popcorn to share between the two of you and you have convinced yourself to pretend this is a movie to get through this hell of a night but the screams around you just killed that cinema mood. Taehyung bumped into loads of friends on the day but still sat with you as he refused to leave your side and spend time with you like he promised which you thought was sweet. He was a bit of a social butterfly so it was intimidating to hang out with him in public because he would recognise at least four people.
The game was about to start so you told Taehyung you were going to run to the ladies 'real quick' but you just wanted an excuse to kill time. You have studied at this university for three years now. So why the hell was it so hard to find a bathroom in this god damn sports centre? It's crazy to think that you never stepped foot into here. You probably walked for 15 minutes back and forth along the corridors but only managed to find coach offices and locker rooms. Just as you turned the corner you spotted someone at the end of the corridor. This was the only person to be in this building for some reason despite there being a game today. You walked towards them with the sound of your shoes squeaking against the floor and they looked up at you. You smiled politely as you approached them. He seemed to be wearing a home varsity jacket too.
"Sorry I'm just going in circles trying to find the ladies room. Do you know where it is?"
This guy was tall, overwhelmingly tall if you stared long enough. But he he had a kind face. Just then you noticed the 'captain' badge wrapped around his bicep.
He laughed, "It's a confusing building. You'll have to trek all the way back where you came from and take a right. Annoying when you've really got to go, huh?"
You laughed, slightly embarrassed. He realised he probably shouldn't have said that and so he backtracked.
"That was weird sorry. It's just that it's hard for us to go as well, especially in between breaks since the toilets are so damn far. We've got to run with full bladders which isn't pretty." he said.
You laughed again, "No that must be difficult I imagine."
Your laugh put him at ease as he threw you a relaxed smile. "I'm glad you understand." he joked again making you chuckle.
"Well I should-"
You were interrupted by someone practically yelling the word 'cap'. The guy in front of you turned to his side and another player emerged from the room. He noticed you almost immediately.
"Sandwich girl." he grinned.
Your expression fell and you sighed crossing your arms. "Hunk boy." you greeted him, sarcasm laced in your tone.
The captain seemed confused for a second. "Oh, so you've met Jungkook?"
You looked at him and then back at this man who's name you now know as Jungkook.
"More like had an unfortunate encounter with." you replied.
Jungkook smirked and threw his arm around his captain's shoulder.
"I told you she was interesting." he said.
"Yes, I've heard quite a bit about you although I'm sure you have a better name than 'sandwich girl'." the captain said sending Jungkook a scolding stare.
"How nice of you to ask." you said looking pointedly at Jungkook. "It's y/n."
The captain smiled. "Nice to meet you, y/n. I'm Kim Namjoon, and this is...well-"
"Jeon Jungkook." he said looking straight at you. "I don't have your sandwich as of yet but I am planning to make a mean one."
"Of course you don't." you replied with a sarcastic smile.
"Jungkook here had to ask me how to make a sandwich because apparently he has no clue-"
"Hyung." he hissed making you giggle softly. Jungkook turned to look at you, his face softening when he saw you laugh.
"My bad he doesn't want me to embarrass him in front of you because he very clearly likes you a lot. Actually, why don't you show y/n to the ladies room? She was here searching for it."
Jungkook sent death glares to his captain but his expression changed as he looked back at you.
"I knew I wouldn't catch you dead outside the boy's locker room." he joked.
"Yes, because unfortunately I don't have an obsession with sweaty teenage ruffians." you said sarcastically again.
Namjoon chuckled and Jungkook only smirked at you.
"Well I might be able to change that, gorgeous." he said dropping you a wink as he walked off towards the direction of the toilets.
You gaped at his back and quickly said goodbye to Namjoon before chasing after him.
"Don't you have a game to play?!"

It was raining. All this while you were underneath the green panels of the hall a storm was brewing outside and apparently the game had been delayed. You were wondering if Taehyung was okay, whether he was getting drenched or if he made some new friends in the 15 minutes you were gone. You were currently in the ladies room. Having the entire space to yourself because it was so empty you could hear water dripping from an open tap. You washed your hands and just as you were about to step out the door opened nearly knocking you in the face. You stumbled but someone caught your wrist.
"They should really do something about these doors." Jungkook said sheepishly.
You glared at him as he let your wrist go and held the door open for you.
"You didn't have to wait for me, I'm capable of peeing by myself." you huffed.
"I'm sure you are." he said with his arms crossed.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
He shrugged. "Maybe I just wanted to wait for you."
"Why?"
"So I could hear you pee. Why else, y/n?" he laughed.
Your face broke out into a smile. "You're a creep."
"A creep that makes you smile, apparently." he said leaning on his side against the wall, his body only centimetres away from you.
"Do you really not know how to make a sandwich?" you asked.
He rolled his eyes and groaned. "It's not my fault I don't know whether or not to cook the ham!"
You chuckled, making him ease into a laugh that followed yours.
"You don't cook the ham, Jungkook."
"Yes I know that now, thanks for all your help." he added sarcastically.
It was silent for a while and Jungkook was watching your expression.
"I'm sorry for ruining your lunch." he said suddenly. You looked at him surprised and slightly amused. "I realise I never apologised for it. Although I'm not sorry for crashing into your table. Otherwise we never would have met." he confessed.
You rolled your eyes, a small smile on your face. "Why did you even fall like that?"
He bit his lip and held back a smile. "Promise you won't laugh at me?"
You couldn't help but to laugh already, but Jungkook didn't mind.
"I told my mates to throw the ball at you. Well, not at you. I mean, towards you. So I had a reason to talk to you."
You simply stared at him. "Wow Jungkook. So your way of trying to talk to me was to almost give me a concussion."
He laughed. Jungkook had a cute laugh. It wasn't loud or as extravagant as Taehyung's. It was just, cute.
"Well maybe it's because I really like you." he said looking at you expectantly with a calm smile.
You didn't know how to respond. He was asking for something you couldn't give him. Relationships were odd to you. They didn't work. At least not for you. Jungkook saw the hesitation on your face and stood up straight to keep some distance.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." he said worried.
You removed your side from the wall as well and smiled softly at him. "You didn't do anything wrong, it's okay. I just-"
You couldn't even explain it to him. But Jungkook was really nice. And he was growing on you. You wanted something with him. But he was the ace of a football team in university for god's sakes. So many things could go wrong. You didn't want to let him have fun and then get bored of you. So you looked him straight in the eye and said what you had to say.
"I just can't, Jungkook. I'm sorry. Good luck with the game. If it goes ahead that is."
And you walked out knowing full well he was staring at your retreating figure.
______________________
"I'm sorry it didn't go as expected." you soothed your friend as he sulked on your walk home together.
Taehyung was still snacking on his leftover popcorn that went soft. The ends of his hair was still wet from the rain and you offered him your jacket because you were genuinely scared he would freeze to death.
"The one time we go for a football game it gets cancelled. For fucks sake."
The two of you laughed and you slung your arm around his shoulder.
"I'd go with you if you ask me again." you reassured him.
He smiled, "It's fine, y/n. We'll do something else. You don't even like football, and neither do I."
"You're right, I don't. But I thought about it, and it doesn't seem like a bad idea to watch a bunch of hunks throw themselves at each other. Also, their players aren't too bad." you smiled.
"What? How do you know that?" he said chuckling.
You smiled and thought about it for a while. "Word of mouth. The bisexual captain is a charmer."
You laughed with him again, sneaking your hand into his bag of soft popcorn before turning the corner to your house.
"I'll see you tomorrow then." he said hugging you tightly on purpose to get the rainwater on your clothes.
You smacked at his back and yelled at him to let you go but he refused.
"You're an idiot." you said laughing as you calmed down.
"I know." he said pulling away but keeping you close to him, his hands on your lower back. You took in his features. Damp hair, soft eyelashes parted beautifully from the raindrops.
"Will you go out with me?" he whispered.
You looked at him apologetically. He knew the answer, he always had. This wasn't the first time he had asked you.
"It's okay. I'll ask again in a few months." he mumbled, keeping his sincere smile on his face.
You exhaled shakily. "Tae..."
"I know it's not because you don't like me. I know you're not ready. And that's okay. I'll wait. And I'll always check in. Because I'm falling in love with you y/n and I can't give up on you. My heart just won't let me."
You didn't know what to say. It was quiet. Taehyung kissed the top of your head and let you go.
"Goodnight beautiful." he said softly, before walking home.
You trudged inside and couldn't help the tears falling from your eyes. It hurt to hurt him. But you didn't want to think about it. You turned off the lights and called it a night.
__________________________
You had an iced coffee at your corner seat in the library as usual. But this time, there was a sandwich too. You did a double take, turning around to spot the culprit. You turned back and suddenly Jungkook was in front of you smiling proudly.
You laughed at him. "You always seem to appear out of nowhere."
"Like a fairy godmother. And today I bring you a turkey sandwich, with cheddar cheese, lettuce, no tomatoes. Wholemeal toast buttered on not one, but both sides, with mayo, sriracha. And another special ingredient, love." he said as he picked it up from the table and held it out to you.
You couldn't wipe the stupid smile off your face as you took the sandwich from him, your fingers grazing slightly making him smile at you. You took a bite and raised your eyebrows at him.
"Not bad, Jungkook. Not bad at all."
"I told you, I make a mean sandwich." he smirked proudly.
"You mean Namjoon makes a mean sandwich."
That made him pout and slump into the seat opposite yours at the table. You followed and sat down with him, smiling at his reaction.
"How did you know I sit here?" you asked as you continued eating.
"Because I always sit there." he pointed to a table diagonally to the right. "Not that you'll notice because you're really cute when you focus. Especially when reading journal articles."
"Creep." you said smiling, making him chuckle.
"I'm playing again on Thursday, and I'd love it if you could be there." he asked expectantly.
You chuckled, "I don't know if you've noticed but I'm not a football fan."
"You realise you are saying this to the star of the football team right?" he said playfully.
"I'm well aware, Jungkook." you said maintaining eye contact while taking a bite out of your sandwich.
He kept your gaze, looking at you with a certain passion in his eyes.
"Okay well, there's an after party. Come to that?" he asked.
You paused to think. Hanging out with Jungkook doesn't seem to be that bad.
"Please, y/n? I just want to spend time with you. And you can leave whenever. I'll make sure you're safe. I'll be with you at all times, promise." he said holding out his pinky.
You giggled and deliberated for a moment before locking your pinky with his. "Okay, but if it's a shit show I'm out of there."
He smirked, "Varsity parties are never a shit show. Also you have a really hot pinky."
"Excuse me what? Stop being weird!" you spluttered.
"No! I meant hot temperature wise. Your finger is just unusually hot for the winter."
You stared at him confused and then broke out into laughter. "God, remind me again why I spend time with you."
"Gladly. I-"
"I didn't mean literally."
________________________
Jungkook was right. It wasn't a shit show. And you weren't sure if this was a date or not. He said he would be with you at all times. He wanted to spend time with you. He'd take care of you. You realised this as you were getting dressed. What the hell should you wear to this party? Taehyung was going too. You weren't surprised because he probably knew people on the team. But you didn't tell him about Jungkook. It would hurt him more than he already is. So you decided to keep it under wraps for now. You had no idea how to keep this from him since you'll be with Jungkook the entire night which means Taehyung is 100% going to see you with another guy but you had a plan. Or at least, you were impromptu coming up with one.
You decided to wear some flared jeans with a sleeveless purple top that clung to your body. You would borrow Taehyung's jacket if it got too cold. You did your hair and makeup in an hour and soon Taehyung was calling you on your phone asking you to hurry it along because he was more excited about this party than you were. He said you looked gorgeous, and you thanked him. You didn't tell him he looked handsome too. He looked so boyish, and he smelled great with his new cologne. But you stopped yourself from thinking further.
Before you knew it you were in a sea of drunk teenagers and loud music. You saw a bunch of people you knew who were Taehyung's friends. So you went to say hi. As you were listening to a friend ramble on to Taehyung about something, your eyes surveyed the house. It was large, Jungkook was rich. Not that it mattered, but he never seemed like the type to have hoards and hoards of money. Speaking of the devil, you saw him laughing with a bunch of boys and girls with a red cup in his hand. You didn't know why, but never before had you felt like you wanted to be seen so badly. You excused yourself and moved to walk past him. Your shoulder purposefully grazed his back as you continued along the floor in search of the toilets. You kept walking until you were in a secluded corner. Soon enough he was there too.
He smirked, looking handsome in his ripped jeans and t-shirt. His piercings shone in the dim lights and his gaze was fixed on you.
"You look gorgeous." he said boldly staring you up and down.
You tried to suppress the smile creeping onto your face so you just looked away and shrugged.
"You were right. Not a shit show."
He chuckled, "Told ya. Can I get you a drink?"
You nodded and he suddenly took your hand in his gently and led you across the hallway. The kitchen was where you left Taehyung, so you prayed to god he wasn't there. Turns out he wasn't. Jungkook poured you a drink and handed it to you with a grin. You chugged it in a matter of seconds because the loud music and sweaty bodies were starting to get on your nerves. It felt good to let loose. Jungkook looked at you with wide eyes as you slammed the cup on the counter and then pressed your hands to his shoulders. You stood on your tip toes and whispered into his ears.
"Wanna dance?"
He turned his face merely inches from yours and smiled nodding. You had no idea where this boldness was coming from but you went with it. You were never one to dance, and neither was Jungkook. You noticed this as soon as his awkward moves began hitting the dance floor.
"Dancing is probably the only thing you're not good at." you teased.
He laughed and placed his hands on your waist. He leaned down to place his mouth next to your ear. "You're right. There's other things I'm good at though."
You pulled back to look at him and he winked at you. He took your hand and twirled you around like a princess making you giggle. "We don't have to do any of that yet if you don't want to." he reassured.
You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck and simply nodded, swaying along to the music. Soon enough the two of you decided to ditch the dance floor. Jungkook offered to show you around his house, not before grabbing a couple drinks for the two of you. It was quieter upstairs, but still dim. You stood close to the family photos hanging on his wall and cooed at how adorable he was as a kid making him roll his eyes.
"You have a beautiful family." you said smiling.
He pressed his lips together and glanced at the photos on the wall.
"Yeah, well, from the outside."
You frowned and took his hand in yours. The alcohol made it easier for you to do this.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to assume."
He shook his head and took your other hand in his smiling down at you. "Don't apologise. You're cute when you're drunk."
"I'm not drunk, asshole."
He laughed, "You're also aggressive when you're drunk then."
You rolled your eyes and smiled. "If you like me so much then you have to deal with it."
He smiled back, "I like everything about you, y/n."
You felt a blush creeping across your cheeks, but when Jungkook teased you about it you told him to shut up and that it was the booze. You asked to see his room, and it was just like you expected. It was filled with gym equipment, sports posters, a huge desktop computer you assumed was for gaming, and his closet filled with nothing but blacks and whites.
"I should give you a makeover seriously." you said filing through his clothes as he sat on his bed watching you.
He snickered, "Are you saying I dress bad?"
You turned to look at him, "I don't think you're capable of looking bad." you mumbled.
The alcohol had worn off at this point and it was just you and Jungkook. You felt at ease. Jungkook made you feel like you could tell him anything. Like your relationship wasn't fragile. It was hopeful. And you wanted it. You weren't so afraid all of a sudden. And maybe relationships like you imagined in your head do exist. Maybe Jungkook really did like you for you, and you really liked him too. He didn't do the perfect things that Taehyung did, but Jungkook was perfect. He was talented, smart, effortless and he looked at you in a way that made your stomach twist and turn. He remembered things about you, made and effort to see you smile and he was sensitive with you. He never made a wrong move. He was pulling you in. And you've known him for weeks.
Jungkook didn't respond. He only stood up and slowly walked over to you, pressing you up against the door of his wardrobe. He placed his hands on either side of your head and inched his face closer, never breaking eye contact.
"Is this okay?" he whispered.
"Yes." you replied and fumbled with your hands not knowing where to put them.
Jungkook noticed and shifted his hands from the wall to hold both of yours.
"It's okay. We don't have to do anything you don't want to. I just want you to know that I like you. I think about you every day. And I wonder if you think about me. I wonder what you're doing, whether you're smiling, whether you're happy."
You sighed, "Jungkook..." you trailed as you softly cupped his cheek.
He leaned into your touch, and then slowly turned his head to press a soft kiss to the palm of your hand.
"We can go as slow as you want. I'll wait for you."
"I don't want to wait!" you blurted suddenly making Jungkook tense up. But as soon as he registered what you said he smiled again. That goddamn cute smile.
"I really like you too. All of you." you said breathlessly. "I've never wanted to be in a relationship before. I've always been scared it wouldn't work or I could just never be that compatible with someone but you're different. You see me. You really see me and I just, well, you're also really good looking and every time you run out onto that field I wish I was there screaming your name because I-"
You paused to breathe. Jungkook was looking at you so intensely you felt almost suffocated.
"You what?" he muttered, lost in you.
"I'm falling in love with you. Now kiss me. Please." you gasped.
He grinned widely before cupping your cheek and smashing his lips onto yours. It felt perfect. He was perfect. The two of you were pressed up against his cupboard and you never wanted it to end. When he kissed you it felt unreal. But there he was, kissing you. Soon his t-shirt and your top were on the bed next to the bottle of vodka you told him to bring upstairs.
"You're so beautiful." he whispered as he kissed the shell of your ear, moving down to your lips again. "Are you sure this is okay?" he said concerned.
You smiled and brushed the hair from his forehead. "More than okay." you said and locked your lips with his again.
"Good, because I'll keep asking." he mumbled into the kiss.
You let him carry you to his bed and his lips never left yours.
"Told you I could change your mind about sweaty teenage ruffians." he smirked.
You laughed out loud and smacked him on the arm making him giggle with you. Soon enough an intense passion consumed the two of you. Jungkook lost those kind eyes and they were replaced with a type of hunger that thrilled you. A while later, you were wrapped in his sheets, his warm body still pressed to yours with the music thumping faintly below. He kissed your neck and buried his face into the crook of it. His tattooed arm was lazily thrown across your waist. You traced them softly.
"I didn't know you had tattoos." you mumbled into his hair.
He drew patterns across your back with his calloused fingers making you shiver slightly.
He smiled, "Got it last year. Had one hell of a scolding from Namjoon hyung though."
You chuckled, "From Namjoon hyung? Not even your parents?"
You felt him stiffen slightly, but you cupped his cheek and made him look at you.
"Sorry," you mumbled. "I'll stop asking about them if it makes you uncomfortable."
He leaned forward and pressed a firm kiss to your lips. He sighed as he pulled away and brought you closer to his chest if that was even possible.
"It's okay, I can tell you. Since you're my girlfriend now or whatever..." he teased.
You smacked his chest making him chuckle, and you kissed the spot where you had inflicted pain on earlier.
"My parents are on the verge of separating. Which is fine, but they keep holding back. It's just difficult being in the middle of it, you know?"
You nodded, listening attentively. "I'm sorry you're going through that. If it ever gets too much to bear, you can come to me. You know that right?"
"I know, baby." he mumbled smiling. "Thank you. Anyway, my parents have been super stressed, which means they ought to take it out on me. When I got my first tattoo done, they absolutely flipped. I stayed at Namjoon hyung's house for a week. They still make snide comments about it. But it just makes me want to rebel even more. So I went out and got my entire sleeve done."
You chuckled, "Well I love them. And it doesn't matter if your parents love them or not, as long as you do."
"I do love them. And I love that you love them even more." he said looking down at you all giddy.
In such a state of bliss, you did not expect the door to suddenly burst open. Jungkook sat up almost immediately, ready to fight. You thankfully had your clothes on and sat up behind your boyfriend.
"y/n what the fuck?"
Taehyung stood at the door more panicked than you had ever seen him.
Jungkook frowned, "What the hell are you doing in my room?" he snapped.
Taehyung looked at him bewildered. "What am I doing? You're sleeping with my friend you dickhead. How dare you-"
"Taehyung." you interjected. He looked at you, pain and anger flashing through his eyes. "Please don't start." you begged.
He scoffed, "y/n I take my eyes off you for one second and you disappear. I thought maybe she's just talking to other people but you don't answer any of my texts or calls for nearly two fucking hours do you know how worried I was?! And to find you sleeping with this scumbag."
"Taehyung stop it." you hissed as you stood up and walked towards him. "Don't call him that."
Taehyung looked conflicted. He saw Jungkook staring at him like he might kill him at any second. He saw whose side you were taking. So he gave up.
"You," he said defeatedly, "You're with him?"
Tears pricked at your eyes. You didn't know how to tell him. You looked at Jungkook, and then back at your best friend.
"I've loved you for six years." he said, his voice breaking. "Six fucking years, y/n."
"Taehyung, I'm sorry-" you tried to reach for his hand but he stepped back. Then he was gone.
You turned to Jungkook who had a deep frown on his face.
"I'm sorry, I should go." you whispered.
Jungkook looked stunned. "Go? You're going after him?"
You didn't know what to say.
"Who is he to you, y/n? You never talk about him when we're together. You've never mentioned him once. And I didn't ask because I didn't want to pry but now you're running after him so tell me what the fuck does that mean?" he said annoyed, trying to control his temper.
"I-he's just. He means a lot to me, Jungkook, I need to go after him. I'm sorry." you cried as you left him standing there in his room, dumbfounded.

Taeyhung's door was locked. You knocked and knocked and cried for him to come out but he wouldn't budge. His roommates probably thought you were embarrassing but you didn't care. You just wanted to see him.
"Taehyung I really need to talk to you, please. I love you. Please open the door." you begged.
You loved him. You truly did. Just not in the way he wanted you to.
"I'm sorry I disappeared like that. Taehyung all I've ever wanted was to protect you. Every thing I did, was because I didn't want to hurt you. I've hurt you so much already and I'm so sorry I just. I just can't love you like that Taehyung. I'm sorry." you sobbed.
The door opened. Taehyung mirrored your teary red eyes.
"Please leave, y/n." he muttered, unable to look at you.
You sniffled, "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault. I should have known when you said you didn't want a relationship, it wasn't about any of that. It was about me. You couldn't love me, and I understand. I'm just happy you have love in your life now. But I need time y/n. I just, can't see you. I can't bring myself to."
It pained you to look at him. But you understood. He needed space.
"I'll wait for you Taehyung. I'll wait. For it to be okay again. And it will be. I'll wait." you whispered.

There was no coffee on the desk today. Jungkook was there though. He met you with an empathetic smile and you felt relieved to see him again. You sat opposite him, none of you saying a word until you were completely settled.
"Sandwich for the sandwich girl?" he offered hopefully, handing you your favourite.
You smiled, but your eyes held days of exhaustion that Jungkook picked up on. He knew he wasn't kind to you, and he felt awful about it. You accepted the sandwich.
"I'll eat it later if that's okay? Not hungry right now." you mumbled.
"Of course." he nodded, fidgeting with his hands. He was silent for a few beats until he spoke up.
"How's..."
You looked at him, then averted your gaze. "He's alright. I haven't seen him since..."
"Yeah." Jungkook nodded again.
He saw how down you looked, so he got out of his seat and squeezed into yours, you half sitting on his lap now. He hugged you, held you close to him as you closed your eyes and just lay there for a few minutes.
"I'm sorry I got angry," he mumbled into your hair. You smiled softly and gently patted his thigh.
"You had every right to be."
"No, you were sad. And I made you feel worse. I'm a horrible person and a horrible boyfriend and I'm really sorry. I want you to know that I'm falling in love with you too and what scared me the most was that you didn't mean what you said to me. Which is why I lashed out. I just got you, I didn't want to lose you."
You nodded again, and then turned to kiss him. He kissed you back softly for a few minutes, savouring your presence. You pulled away and leaned your forehead against his.
"It's okay. You're just lucky I have a thing for sweaty teenage ruffians and star players."
That made him laugh and press another longing kiss to your lips.
"I don't think I'm falling anymore. I've fallen." he mumbled against your lips.
You looked him in the eyes, and you realised he was dead serious. These past few weeks you hadn't seen Taehyung or Jungkook. But Jungkook was still there for you. He sent you texts making sure you were okay. He tried to apologise but he knew you needed the space too. He messaged you before and after each of his games. Told you he would come over and you just had to say the word. He had McDonald's delivered to you on a Friday night, and he knew exactly what you liked. He never asked to meet until you did today. Jungkook truly was perfect.
"I love you too."
______________________-
It was bloody freezing at the airport. At five in the morning you wouldn't expect so many people to be around but there were. Jungkook dropped you off about ten minutes ago and is currently waiting in the parking lot. The two of you decided it was best. Taehyung didn't need another knife to his heart. You cursed the wind that somehow managed to enter this massive building and Taehyung laughed at you.
"Every time I tell you to bring a jacket, you refuse." he joked.
"Well that's because I can extort you and take yours instead. Keep up, Tae." you cursed at him.
He laughed, "Yeah, I'll miss that."
You smiled sadly at him and let him embrace you while there was just five minutes left on the clock before he would be flying halfway across the world for his year abroad.
Taehyung had always loved to travel and said that he swore he would leave this place one day. He was going to Canada. He heard it was beautiful. He'd be staying with a family who offered to house him. He'd be going to university with Canadians, he'd have loads of maple syrup and send you pictures of him and his new friends. He might find a new love. He will be happy.
"Two minutes to go. Anything you want to confess?" you teased.
He playfully looked up and pretended to be deep in thought.
"Maybe the fact that I put tomatoes in your sandwich once and you didn't even notice."
"You WHAT?!"
There was that extravagant laugh again, and the boxy smile that followed it.
"I'll miss you. I really will." you said calming down.
Taehyung sighed, "I've been waiting all these years to get rid of you so I can't say the same."
You flicked his forehead making him wince and then laugh at your irritation.
"I'll miss you too, y/n. And I love you. Always will."
You hugged him one last time and before you knew it he had disappeared out of your sight. You bought two coffees and two doughnuts just as you left the airport because you felt sad. You walked back to the car and met Jungkook inside. He was as happy as a child to see that you brought back treats. As the two of you ate the doughnuts in the car with music playing in the background, Jungkook noticed your tension and spoke up.
"If there's one thing I know about Taehyung it's that he'll fit in anywhere."
You smiled, "Yeah. He'll be okay. Right?"
Jungkook smiled and crushed the paper bag in his hands eating the last of his doughnut.
"As long as he has you by his side, he'll be more than okay y/n."
You wanted to tear up, but you promised Taehyung you wouldn't cry. So you took a sip of your coffee and looked over at Jungkook.
"Don't talk with your mouth full. You look like a teenage boy."
"I am a teenage boy."
"Jungkook you're 23."
"Motion denied."
"Idiot." you laughed.
"Wanna go for a walk in the park?" he asked setting the car's gear in motion.
"That would be perfect." you smiled as you held his hand.
"I love you." he said. "It'll be okay. I'll always be here." he reassured.
"I love you too, you hunk."

_________________________________________________________
You know those moments where you expect too much and then feel more pissed than let down because damn they fucked up bad? That moment was now. Jungkook and Yoongi stared up at the neon signboard in utter disgust and shame just thinking about how someone could screw up this bad.
“It’s not even black.” Jungkook muttered in disbelief.
“It’s neon.” Yoongi confirmed.
“They didn’t even get the spelling right.” Jungkook continued.
Yoongi huffed “. . . What’s ‘BONKED’ supposed to read as?”
“Sounds like a strip club.”
“Yup.” Yoongi said popping the ‘p’.
“We can’t afford a new one, hyung.” Jungkook whined.
“You don’t think I know that?” Yoongi said gruffly.
He was beyond irritated at this moment. Both him and Jungkook had poured their entire life savings into opening this tattoo parlor and he was one hundred percent sure that absolutely no one was ever going to walk into a painful neon green store called BONKED to get a tattoo or to get anything for that matter.
“We’ll just have to make do.”
“I feel like I’m gonna barf.” Jungkook mumbled.
“Well your barf on this building won’t make it look any worse.”
The weeks went by and the boys worked hard to start up this little business of theirs. Jungkook spent hours walking around handing out flyers to people to let them know that what they were standing in front of was indeed a tattoo parlor and not some front for a shady business. Meanwhile, Yoongi sat indoors and worked on how he could at least make the inside of the store look decent. It was a tough few months for them but they kept going. A few customers popped in once in a while and it was mostly Yoongi who worked on them because between him and Jungkook, he was more experienced and they wanted to leave a good first impression on their customers.
Jungkook spent his after-hours in the store working on sketches and practicing on himself. He was running out of space on his right arm so it was time for him to start thinking of where to go next. Even though Yoongi was more experienced, Jungkook was incredibly talented in his field. His attention to detail and the focus he had when working on a piece was flawless. Jungkook didn’t tattoo often, but when he did, his work always turned out to be perfect.
A few months into the business was when things started to get a lot more rocky.
“Did you clear out the register yesterday?” Yoongi asked.
“Yeah, they’re in the safe.”
“We need to start doing our accounts, Jungkook-ah. Let’s see if we have anything we can use to change this place up a little.”
Hours and hours into doing their accounts the two fell face-flat onto their desks.
“We have nothing. Zero.” Jungkook mumbled.
“Actually, it’s negative. We’re in a deficit.”
The two of them groaned and flipped through more receipts and bills in hopes of some good news but they couldn’t do it.
“I guess I’ll grab some dinner.” Jungkook said as he stood up and cleared the table.
“Make it quick, I’m starving.”
“Okay, grandpa.” Jungkook mocked and Yoongi sent him a glare, making the youngest snicker.
The bell chimed and their attention moved immediately to the door. They watched you in surprise as you entered the store around 5 minutes before closing time. Looking around, you got slightly startled when you saw two guys gawking at you, but you cleared your throat and stepped forward slightly.
“Uh hi, you guys aren’t closed yet are you?”
There was a small silence for a while. Jungkook couldn’t find it in himself to speak so Yoongi took over.
“We aren’t, but if you’re looking to get a job done you’ll have to come back tomorrow.”
“Oh,” you smiled nervously, “Actually I’m not here for any of that. I noticed that you guys are relatively new in the area and I was wondering if you needed any help around here?”
Yoongi looked confused, “As in, you’re looking for a job?”
You nodded.
Jungkook spoke up, “As a tattoo artist?” he said skeptically. His tone sounded offended and it struck you as quite rude.
You frowned at him, “No actually, not as a tattoo artist but as anything else.”
“Sorry, we don’t need anybody.” Jungkook dismissed you gruffly.
God, why was he being so rude?
“Really? I couldn’t help but notice that you guys aren’t doing too well here.” you spoke back.
Jungkook eyed you up and down. “Excuse me? What makes you say that? We’re doing great and business is booming. Isn’t that right, hyung?” he looked at the older man.
“Um, well it hasn’t-”
“See? Just fine.” Jungkook retorted.
“That’s a lie. I can tell if businesses are doing well or if they aren’t.” you crossed your arms smirking.
“Can you now? What makes you think ours isn’t?” Jungkook scoffed.
“Well for starters, I don’t see anybody in here-”
“We’re about to close.” Jungkook defended.
“I didn’t finish.” you said raising your eyebrows. “I don’t see anybody in here ever.”
Jungkook scowled, he was annoyed at the audacity of this random stranger to be entering his store and criticising his business.
“Secondly, no one around here knows what this store does. I spoke with the lady from the bakery across the street and she claimed that this was some kind of gay bar?”
Yoongi and Jungkook looked perplexed and their expressions had you holding in your laughter.
“It wasn’t until my friend came in the other day for a tat, that he told me this place was actually just another tattoo parlor.”
“Jesus Christ.” Yoongi huffed.
“Oh and also, the sign-”
“Don’t even.” Jungkook huffed and looked away.
You felt proud of yourself, but at the same time looking at these young, passionate boys’ faces you knew they must have put in a shit ton of effort to get this place up and running, and you had no right to just come in here and point out their flaws like that. What they needed was a solution.
“With all that being said,” you paused momentarily. “I can help you guys fix it.”
“I told you that we don’t need-”
“Jungkook, shut up for a moment will you? Go on.” Yoongi urged you.
“I majored in Accounts and Finance, I also have knowledge and experience on marketing, plus I’ve got a decent eye for things and that being said, that signboard has got to go.”
“Accounts? Wait, take a look at these.” Yoongi called you over to the table and Jungkook just watched in disbelief. The betrayal he felt from his hyung was unbelievable.
You stood over the table which looked like a mess, by the way. Papers strewn everywhere, random documents, some cash pile in the corner and a half-full mug of coffee.
“Sorry, it’s a little gross.” Yoongi apologised.
You chuckled, “It’s no big deal. Could I have a look at those receipts?”
The two guys watched you as you silently picked up different sheets of paper and scanned it thoroughly, mumbling numbers to yourself in the process. Well, these guys weren’t doing too bad but you knew they could do better. You glanced at the pile of cash at the corner of the desk and looked over to Yoongi.
“What’s that?”
“Hyung, she’s after our money.” Jungkook said quickly.
You glared at him and he shot you one back. Why was he out to get you? Despite his annoying traits, you couldn’t deny the fact that he was extremely good-looking. Well, the both of them were. But there was something about Jungkook that had you drooling in that small secret compartment of your head. He was well-built, his pecs pushing out through his t-shirt, his sleeves clinging to his biceps and his defined collarbones on full view. His hair was like a black mop, it looked soft and silky and it framed his face nicely. He had a really cute nose and the softest looking eyes but his expression was harsh towards you and you had no idea why.
“It’s what we owe. We’re running in a bit of a loss right now.” Yoongi said ignoring Jungkook.
“A loss?” you asked confused. “That shouldn’t be right, look.” you moved to sit next to Yoongi and showed him the contents on the paper. After explaining to him in detail you moved the pile of cash from the end of the table towards them.
“This is all yours, you guys. You’ve been looking at it wrong. This shop isn’t doing too bad, but it isn’t great either. If this keeps up, you’ll probably start making losses in the next 3 months or so. But you might not, if you’ll let me help.” you persuaded.
“And I’m not here to steal your money.” you said pointedly to Jungkook. “In fact, I won’t ask for anything for the first few months. When I’ve proven that I’ve improved this store and when you can afford it, you can pay me then. What do you guys say?”
Yoongi looked convinced, and he turned to the youngest to ask for his approval.
“Looks like we need her after all, Jungkook.”
Jungkook squinted his eyes at you and took a deep breath, letting out a loud huff. “Fine, so be it.” he said grumpily.
You beamed and thanked them, Yoongi even shook hands with you.
“Hold on, you didn’t even tell us your name.” Yoongi asked.
“Oh shit, right. I’m sorry that was rude of me, I’m y/n.” you apologised.
“I’m Min Yoongi, and this is Jeon Jungkook. We’ve been friends since kindergarten, so we’re pretty close. It’s been a dream of ours to open this place.” Yoongi said smiling softly.
“That’s amazing, you guys should be proud that you’ve gotten here.” you said genuinely.
Jungkook glanced at you then and you made eye contact with him. He awkwardly picked up his car keys and phone whilst looking away from you.
“I’ll go grab dinner before they close.” he spoke to Yoongi.
“Oh no, did I hold you guys back? I’m sorry, you should really have your dinner. I’ll leave now.” you stood up.
“That’s alright, oh and Jungkook will walk you to your car, won’t you Jungkook?” Yoongi asked smirking.
Jungkook looked startled and had that same look of betrayal on his face, this time there was a shade of pink.
“What? But she can- ugh fine.” Jungkook grumbled. “Hurry up.” he snapped at you and you rolled your eyes at him.
“You’ll have to excuse him, don’t take it personally.” Yoongi said to you once Jungkook was outside.
“Well that’s gonna be tough.” you replied playfully. “See you tomorrow! Good night.” you said cheerily and followed Jungkook outside.
____________________________________________________
Your first week at the job went by pretty quickly. Yoongi showed you around so you’d get used to the place. He showed you to your working space which wasn’t the best but it was the best that he could afford. There was that desk you used when you first entered, and there were some cute little plants on the table. They even gave you new pens, pencils and a calculator. There was a desk fan attached to your table and its wires were heavily tangled everywhere but it was all they had. It was obvious that they did their best to welcome you, and you felt touched about it.
Most of your time was spent doing the accounts of course, and you were really efficient with them. It was a really relaxed work environment, sometimes Yoongi showed up with coffee or some snacks which you appreciated. Jungkook would ask to borrow a pencil from time to time, and as much as you were mad at him you couldn’t say no because they probably gave you everything they had to make a good first impression and the thought that they couldn’t afford to buy more pencils saddened you. During your breaks you’d lounge around and maybe check up on Jungkook to see what he was drawing. Whenever you’d ask him he’d always reply with an annoyed grunt or he’ll shoo you away.
One day, you really tried to find that goodness in your heart to do something nice for Jungkook so that maybe he wouldn’t be so pissy towards you, so you bought him a carton of banana milk and a pack of oreos. When you handed it to him, he looked at you so weirdly and you became so uncomfortable that you never wanted to be in situations with him like that ever again. So the acts of kindness stopped. There was also another thing you made yourself be in charge of: weekly meetings. Yoongi always told you that you didn’t have to make it so official since it was just the three of you working just like how three friends worked on a group project but you insisted.
“Do I really have to write all this down?” Jungkook complained.
“Aren’t you secretary?” you scolded.
“Well yeah, but I didn’t have a choice.”
“So you better do your job before I fire you.”
Jungkook gaped at you and turned to Yoongi. “Hyung are you hearing this?!”
“Don’t make her fire you, Jungkook.”
It was about 10 weeks later and you were close to hitting the target set for the store. It was important that you proved to them that you were good at your job and that you deserved a place here. You didn’t want to leave, because it was really nice working with them. You felt secure and they were like your friends, or at least Yoongi was. That night, you stayed after closing time to continue working on statements. Something just wasn’t working, and you had to figure out what. After hours of staring at the same numbers over and over again you felt like you needed a break. Just then, Jungkook entered the corner of your workspace.
“You’re still here?” he asked surprised.
You nodded, “Well I’m not finished so yes. I don’t think I’m leaving anytime soon.”
“Well don’t stay up too late.”
Surprised, you looked up at him so fast that you startled him slightly.
“That might be the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” you laughed softly as you stretched your body in your chair.
He scoffed, “I only said that because I’m the one who has to close up after you so if you don’t leave neither can I.”
“Thanks for ruining the moment.”
“My pleasure.” he replied with a smug smile.
Rolling your eyes, you stood up from your chair and grabbed your phone and purse. “I’m going to get some coffee, want anything?” you asked.
“Coffee at 10 p.m.?” he asked while judging you.
“Well, I guess that’s a no.” you mumbled and headed to the door.
“Wait.” he called out. Turning around abruptly you didn’t expect him to be that close behind you that you ended up crashing into his chest. You stumbled but he caught you by your shoulders to steady you. He was looking right at you and this was physically the closest the two of you had ever been.
“Easy there, if you’re hurt Yoongi will literally rip me apart.” he mumbled.
Trying to ignore the redness in your cheeks you smiled awkwardly and stood upright as Jungkook let go of you. “I don’t blame him.” you shrugged and laughed when you saw Jungkook’s annoyed expression.
“Wait, I forgot why we ended up here. What was it you asked me?” you said.
“Right, I was uh- just you know thinking of maybe asking if you’d like me to drive you...to the coffee shop...” he said nervously.
“Wow.” was all that you replied, and Jungkook looked even more embarrassed.
“Forget it.” he said moving away.
“No! Sorry, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to-just, yeah. Drive me, I’d like you to drive me there, please?” you asked quickly.
Surprised by your sudden reaction he felt his heart relax a little when you didn’t reject his offer.
“Okay cool.” he said clearing his throat awkwardly.
It was really quiet in the car, and also really awkward. There was so much tension with that embarrassing encounter the two of you had just five minutes ago. You tried to take your mind off it, and your thoughts aimlessly wandered to how handsome Jungkook looked while he was driving. His hair covered his eyes a little, and you could see all the piercings on his left ear. That’s hot, you thought to yourself. His tattoos on his right arm were visible as he gripped the wheel with that hand and at this point you were shamelessly staring at him.
“Enjoying the view?”
You hummed, and then snapped out of your daydreaming only to see Jungkook chuckling at you.
“I mean, no! I was just- I was looking out the window and I wasn’t really looking anyway I was thinking and your biceps were distracting so I-wait! No no no, shit what’s wrong with me?” you freaked.
Jungkook only laughed even more at this and then turned to look at you.
“Does y/n have a crush?” he teased.
You looked at him with a deadpanned expression, “Are you seriously teasing me about a guy when that guy is you?”
“So you are crushing on me. Interesting...”
“Oh my god, shut up! I am absolutely not, in no way attracted to you.”
“Ouch.” he winced playfully.
“You heard me.” you grumbled as you turned to look the other way so he couldn’t see the blush on your cheeks. You thanked god that it was dark and he couldn’t see you red all over.
He snickered and pulled up in front of the coffee shop.
“I’ll wait here, could you grab something for me too? Surely you’d do anything for me since you know, you like me and all...” he continued to tease.
You grabbed your phone and purse and stormed out of the car. “I ain’t getting shit for you, asshole!” you yelled as you walked away which had Jungkook dying of laughter since literally everyone around was staring at you.
Back at the store, you sipped on your coffee as you worked out more numbers. Jungkook sat on the beanbag across from you sketching by himself. Yoongi had already left a while ago so it was just the two of you.
As you were writing something down Jungkook spoke up.
“How’d you know that this was my usual?” he asked holding up the coffee cup.
You looked up from the paper and looked back down, pushing your work glasses up your nose. “One time, Yoongi accidentally handed me your drink instead of mine and when I took a sip it tasted like garbage so followed my intuition and I ordered the worst thing in there.” you said plainly.
“My drink is not garbage.” Jungkook retorted.
“Yes it is, it’s not even coffee. It’s all milk and sugar.”
“Well I’m a milk and sugar person, what’s wrong with that?”
“What’s wrong is your offending the real coffee-drinkers out there.”
“There’s nothing wrong with adding milk and sugar to your drinks.” Jungkook whined and you couldn’t help but to smile at him being effortlessly cute.
“Okay, whatever you say.”
But Jungkook wasn’t too happy with that response. “Say it like you mean it.” he ordered.
“Excuse me what?” you looked at him confused.
“Say that there’s nothing wrong with my drink.” he demanded.
You scoffed, “What are you, eight?”
“Well if you’re not gonna say it...” he shrugged.
You ignored him and went back to work. A few seconds later you nearly had a heart attack because Jungkook was pouring some of his coffee into yours.
“What the hell!” you yelled and tried to grab the cup from him and both your coffee’s ended up spilling all over the accounts sheets.
You just stood there in shock and disappointment as you stared at the soaking wet paper that could not be saved. You pinched the bridge of your nose and took in a sharp breath. “Jungkook.” you muttered lowly.
The poor boy was also in shock, knowing he fucked up badly and now he was going to have to pay for it.
“I- it was an accident I didn’t intend to-”
“Why are you such a brat?! You couldn’t just leave it could you?! I spend day after day rotting my ass off here trying to crunch these numbers and when I’m so close to finding something you had to shove your annoying ass into my work-do you know how much time has been wasted now that all these are gone and Yoongi is going to kill me if I don’t get this done in time even though it was your fault! And no, I will never admit that there’s anything fine with your drink, you or your stupid!-mmpfh”
It came to you as a shock when you realised you had a pair of lips pressed against yours. They were soft and they molded against yours perfectly making you weak in the knees. A hand cupped your face and brought you closer, your waist pressing against the table in front of you. Your hands rested below you on the desk as Jungkook kissed you, capturing your lips with his over and over again until you pulled away breathless. You couldn’t think with your mind in a haze. Jungkook looked at you in silence, waiting for you to say something, but all you could do was fall back to the chair behind you.
“y/n?” Jungkook said concernedly.
You cleared your throat and stood up quickly again. “I-I’ll get the mop and bucket.” you said softly before running out of there into the storage closet and shutting the door behind you.
You cursed yourself for reacting so stupidly. Jungkook must think that you hate him, but obviously you don’t. You really, really, like him, especially after having the feeling of his lips on yours - oh god, you fucked up. You remembered his scared and hurt expression when you scurried away like that. The worst part was that you had to go back out there. When you returned with the mop and bucket, Jungkook was gone, but so was the mess. He had cleaned up all by himself, wait, how long were you in there? You sighed and saw that he had left the store key for you to lock up, which means he had probably gone home. You had no idea how it had escalated to arguing about coffee, to this. But you knew that you’d rather be buried alive than to ever have to face Jungkook again.
_____________________________________________________
Yoongi had asked if you could pick up breakfast that morning since both him and Jungkook had an appointment and of course, you agreed. Business was picking up recently because let’s face it, you’re great at this job. Even though you lost those numbers since they got soaked in coffee, you managed to work your way around it and pulled up some income statements and cash book entries which clearly showed how well the store was profiting. You and Jungkook have not spoken since the incident and that was more than a week ago, and it was killing you. You wanted to talk to him and explain yourself but you were too scared. Plus he has been extra mean to you ever since, which made you not want to apologise even more. The only time he ever said something to you was when you were in the way and he practically snapped at you to move. That’s gotta hurt.
Most of the time you’ve been coming up with ways to avoid him, but today was not that day since you had to hand him his breakfast. You entered the main room where Yoongi was working and dropped his off. He thanked you and immediately went back to work. You were kinda disappointed, you had hoped Yoongi would give Jungkook’s breakfast to him but that was unrealistic so you guessed that now you would have to face a painful and awkward situation. After taking a deep breath you knocked on the door. You heard a muffled ‘come in’ and you stepped into the room. To say you felt awkward was an understatement. You wanted nothing more to crawl into a hole and die.
There was a female customer on the tattoo chair with the top half of her body completely bare and sitting in only her panties. Jungkook was leaned over her tattooing her breast and stopped to look at you. There was a warmth rising to your face as you just stood there and stared at them for a moment.
“What do you want?” Jungkook asked annoyed.
That snapped you out of your thoughts as you held up the bag shakily. “U-uh breakfast!” you might have said a little to loudly and then cursed yourself for it.
“I-I’ll just leave it here.” you mumbled quickly and put the bag of food down on the desk.
“Would you like anything?” you heard Jungkook ask the lady.
She giggled, “If you don’t mind sharing.”
Your face twinged in disgust, luckily you had your back facing them.
“Sure.” Jungkook replied shortly.
“Could you go a little higher, like over here?” you heard the lady ask and when you turned around to leave you saw her guiding Jungkook’s hand across her bare body and something inside you just made you feel so hurt and so shitty.
Jungkook’s eyes locked with yours. You immediately looked away and left the room. You couldn’t describe how you felt. This was Jungkook’s job, it was what he was passionate about, but you couldn’t stand to see people take advantage of that. He had just kissed you so passionately a week ago and of all days it was today that you had to bring him breakfast, and it was today that he had to have an appointment for a fucking breast tattoo. You groaned and muttered a string of curses as you walked back to your desk to eat your own breakfast. You chomped down on your egg McMuffin and got to work, hoping it would distract you from what you just saw.
An hour later Jungkook emerged from his room with the lady and readied her bill. The cash register was just opposite from where you sat so you watched them closely. Jungkook smiled and thanked the lady and obviously she enjoyed that attention but you were relieved when she finally  left. Jungkook turned around to walk back into the room when he saw you watching him and his demeanor somersaulted upon looking at you.
“What?” he snapped coldly and you jumped in your seat a little.
You shook your head and looked back to the papers would were scribbling on, “N-Nothing.” you whispered.
He went back to his studio as Yoongi came out of his to get more plastic wrap.
“What’s up with you two?” he asked concerned.
“It’s complicated.” you huffed.
“I’ve never seen him that mad before.”
Hearing that was like having an arrow shot into your heart. You were right, he really did hate you.
“I-I..” you said with your voice breaking.
Yoongi looked alarmed, shit, what should someone do if a girl cries?
“It’s all my fault.” you sniffled as tiny droplets fell across your cheeks.
“Okay, no, nope. None of that. You are not crying, missy, you hear me? You are strong, and bold, and confident, and you aren’t crying over some stupid guy. Got that?”
You sniffled and wiped your tears away quickly and straightened up.
“That’s it. y/n you walked into this store on your first day like a boss and you criticised us left and right and you put this place into shape. You’re freaking superwoman, okay? You shouldn’t be crying.”
“You’re right, I’m sorry. It’s unprofessional.” you mumbled.
Yoongi sighed and sat down next to you. “Don’t be sorry. And we’re friends, there’s no need to be professional around me.”
“We are?” you asked smiling slightly through your watery eyes and puffy cheeks.
“Of course we are. And as your friend, I really suggest you talk to Jungkook.”
You shook your head, “But he’s scary.”
“Jungkook puts on a tough demeanor but he’s a kid at heart. He’d never do anything to harm you, you can count on that.”
You nodded and smiled softly at him, “Thanks, Yoongi.”
“What are friends for, hm?”
________________________________________________________
Now you had a task at hand. Talk to Jungkook. You just had to talk to him. No big deal, it’s just talking. To Jungkook. Fuck, you had to talk to Jungkook. Slamming your pen down you ran your fingers through your hair and whined. It was about time you grew a pair but it wasn’t that easy. Time flew as you sat at your desk and pondered about what to say and when to say it. It drove you crazy. Until one fine moment, all your courage rose from the pit of your stomach and you stood up determined to talk to the guy. Just as you maneuvered around your table to go to him the bell chimed. Hot damn, who was that?
This guy had a face sculpted by god himself. He was tall with brown hair, his wrists adorned with multiple strings and bracelets. His silver piercings shining under the store lights. The way he dressed really stood out to you, a beret on his head, sunglasses and patterned clothes, he really reminded you of a gucci model. He smiled at you as you walked over to him and you smiled back waving at him.
“Hi, do you have an appointment?” you asked.
He removed his sunglasses and wow he looked even better.
“Oh no, I don’t. I’m actually here for the job? My name’s Kim Taehyung, I saw the sign outside.”
You had convinced Yoongi and Jungkook to finally place a “We are hiring” sign on the window because they could now afford it, plus, it would attract more attention.
“Oh I see! So you’re a tattoo artist?” you asked interested.
“Well, I’m hoping to be.” he said making the two of you giggle.
“Well are you good?” you inquired.
“Hmm, I would say I have a few things up my sleeve.”
You raised your eyebrows, “Really? Well let’s hope you impress us.”
“I hope that I shall.”
The two of you laughed together again, man you really liked this guy.
“What’s going on here?” you heard a deep voice. Jungkook appeared from his room and scowled at the two of you laughing together.
“Oh, t-this is is Kim Taehyung, he’s here for the job.”
Taehyung reached out to shake Jungkook’s hand but he left him hanging.
“Another case of y/n, hm? That’s not too good.”
You gaped at him and you were about to retort when Yoongi joined in.
“Ah, you must be Taehyung.” Yoongi said smiling.
Taehyung finally felt comfortable seeing a familiar face. “Yes, and you must be Yoongi hyung. Nice to finally meet you.”
“Pleasure’s mine. A friend of mine knew Taehyung in art school and he recommended him to me. Let’s see if you’re as good as Seokjin claims you are.” Yoongi said.
Taehyung laughed, “I promise to do my best.”
So that led to the current situation. The three of you huddled around Taehyung watching him work on a piece. He had gotten one of his friends to demonstrate the piece for him who’s name you learned was Jung Hoseok who was also pretty cute. You were questioning the odds of you being surrounded by attractive men all at one time wondering if the universe had something planned for you. But you ignored it to watch Taehyung working. One thing you’ve noticed since working here is that every tattoo artist has their own unique style. They were all different, yet all so incredible. Taehyung had the same amount of focus and concentration Jungkook always had when he was working. Yoongi was always more relaxed, his talent flowing from him naturally. However, Taehyung could perfect designs neither Yoongi or Jungkook had ever done before.
The buzzing stopped and Taehyung stepped back to review his work. Everyone was in awe, he did a really great job and Yoongi loved it so much that he asked Taehyung if he could post it on their shop’s Instagram.
“That depends,” Taehyung said, “Are you going to hire me?”
Yoongi chuckled, “Need I say any more? y/n, what do you think?”
You smiled, “I think he’s great.”
“What do you know about tattoos?” Jungkook snapped.
You looked at him angrily and he ignored your stare.
“For a tattoo artist it’s surprising you don’t have any tattoos.” Jungkook questioned.
Taehyung frowned, “Do I need to have them?”
Jungkook looked slightly dumbfounded with everyone staring at him. “No-I mean, it’s just surprising-”
“Yeah it is.” Taehyung ended the conversation abruptly.
Jungkook rolled his eyes and looked away.
“It’ll be great if you could start today. We have a customer coming in anytime now.” Yoongi said.
“But he’s scheduled for me.” Jungkook spoke up unhappy.
“You can take the 3 o’ clock, Jungkook.” Yoongi dismissed.
Jungkook licked his lips, obviously irritated by Yoongi’s decision.
“I never got your name?” Taehyung turned to ask you.
“Oh, it’s y/n!” you smiled.
“It’s great to meet you. I have a feeling we’ll be getting along pretty well.” Taehyung grinned.
You blushed slightly because how could you not when this insanely attractive man was outright flirting with you.
“Your 3 o’ clock is here, get to work.” Jungkook snapped at him.
“Right, I’m on it.” Taehyung cleared his throat.
_____________________________________________________
Taehyung blended in pretty well. He was no doubt good at his job, a lot of customers end up super happy with what they get and so Taehyung was really good for the store. The two of you also got along great, he was like your new best friend. He would come over and talk to you between breaks and he’d send you a lot of memes which kept you happy and entertained throughout the day. One time he brought a pack of cards to work and once you guys were done for the day you played Snap while eating dinner, which was a terrible idea because Taehyung kept hitting your hand real hard and one time he spilled his entire bowl of soup and himself and started to yell because it was hot and man did you laugh until you couldn’t breathe. Obviously, Yoongi and Jungkook were there to witness all this because you guys always spent meal times together. Yoongi would usually ignore the two of you and go on his phone, and you’d call him a grandpa for not wanting to play card games. Jungkook was reserved, also on his phone but he would glance over to the two of you from time to time.
It was another night at the shop and it was nearly opening time so you were at your desk drafting statements and also counting the money from yesterday’s earnings. Jungkook was on his beanbag sipping some banana milk and sketching on his notepad as usual and Taehyung was next to you helping you separate the bills.
“I’m really curious as to how you got a job here.” he asked you.
You scoffed, “Why, can’t a woman get a job in a tattoo parlor? Just because it’s a sausage fest in here, I can’t be a part of it because I don’t have my own sausage?”
Taehyung laughed heartily and you smiled, giggling to yourself.
“You know what I mean.” he urged.
“I just came in one day and asked. At first they said no, and then I made them a deal they couldn’t refuse.”
“Why would they say no? You’re great at what you do.”
You smiled, “Thanks, Tae. But the shop wasn’t like this back then, they couldn’t afford me.”
“Hmm, but you did so well at university. You could have had many other options, why here?”
“Well, I saw two guys desperately trying to make their dreams come true and you know, I just wanted to help them.” you said smiling softly. You remembered all the fond memories you hard building up this place with them. They were priceless.
Jungkook could hear everything the two of you were saying, he felt a pang in his heart when he heard how all you wanted to do was help them, and he had been nothing but mean and rude to you from the very beginning.
“That and, well, I needed to start earning something. My parents have gotten pretty old. Mum is really sick and dad spends all his time taking care of her. Before that, they used to own that bakery across the street.”
“Wait, you mean Rosie’s bakery? Like...the pretty fucking amazing one?”
You laughed, “I guess you can say that.”
“I used to go there when I was a kid, it’s been around for so long. It’s such a shame it got closed down. I’m really sorry about your mother too, by the way,” he said sympathetically.
“No that’s okay. She’s still around, I thank the heavens that I get to see her for just one more day. They wanted me to take over, but I could never do all that by myself.”
“Why not? I’m sure you could.”
You shook your head, “I never want to let them down, you know? That bakery was like their baby, I didn’t want to step in and ruin it. Some things just eventually come to an end.”
“I understand.” he nodded, “But you’re here now though, things worked out, right? Look at how lucky you got, you now have a Taehyung in your life!”
You grabbed a book and smacked him across the shoulder with it and he yelped, but laughed along with you after. The bells chimed and the first customer came in, Taehyung left to work on them so it was just you and Jungkook in the room. As you picked up your pen to work again a voice made you halt.
“I’m sorry.”
You looked up at him in shock and confusion. Why was he talking to you all of a sudden?
“What?” you asked confused.
He sighed and put his sketchbook down and walked over to you. He sat on the chair next to you and all you could do was watch him.
“I’m sorry I’ve been such a dick to you since day one. There’s really no excuse for that, I’m really sorry.” he said looking at you.
“Jungkook...” you trailed off.
“Yoongi and I worked really hard to get here, like really, really hard. There were days we never got to eat, nor did we have a roof over our heads. Despite all that we always had each other, and we had each other’s backs. When we finally opened our shop, I was beyond excited. Even with that shitty sign outside that we got rid of, this shop was still a great achievement. When you showed up, I just...felt threatened? It was stupid, I don’t know what I was thinking. I just felt like someone might screw this up for us or that all of this might go away and that was so terrifying for me. I realise now that you genuinely wanted to help us even though I was an asshole, and I just owe you the biggest thanks ever y/n because you played a huge part in making my dream come true. Instead of thanking you and showing you my appreciation all I did was yell at you and piss you off and I just, god, I hate myself for it. I’m really sorry. I just want you to know that I appreciate you, and so does Yoongi. We owe it all to you.”
For the past month Jungkook never said more than two words to you, but now he was giving you a whole ass speech? Man, here comes the waterworks.
“Shit, y/n, are you-oh god please don’t cry.”
“I’m sorry,” you cried out. “I’m sorry, I’ll stop, I’ll stop I just,” you inhaled, “I can’t stop.” you sobbed.
Jungkook pulled you to his chest and you immediately wrapped your arms around him. He murmured reassuring words, telling you that it was okay while he rubbed your back softly. You pulled away embarrassed and tried to hide your face as you wiped off tears messily and sniffled. God, you must look so horrible right now.
“Sorry I-” you sniffled, “I’m fine now. I’m fine.” you heaved.
“You sure?” he asked.
You nodded and smiled at him, making him smile back.
“I uh-” you started, “I’m sorry too. I’m sorry for making you feel insecure, and no it’s not stupid, your feelings are absolutely valid, Jungkook. I just had no idea I made you feel that way, it must have been bad for you, I’m so sorry. And I forgive you, thank you for saying all that but, it’s not me who made all this happen. It’s you, and Yoongi. The both of you are so talented, I’ve seen how you work too. Jungkook you’re incredible, okay? Like, yeah I don’t know anything about tattoos but I know a pretty thing when I see it and your work just blows me away and you should be so proud of that. That’s what brought you here, not me.” you said.
Jungkook nodded and looked at you fondly, “Thank you for saying that.”
“And uh...when you walked in that day-”
“It’s fine.” you cut him off feeling embarrassed and not wanting to talk about it.
“No y/n, it didn’t mean anything, okay? I saw how hurt you looked and I felt really bad.”
You shook your head, “Jungkook you have nothing to feel bad about. It’s your job, I was wrong to be upset anyway.”
“You don’t have to be jealous.” he chuckled.
You groaned, “She was blatantly flirting with you!”
“And I ignored her. Plus, I didn’t share my food with her.”
“You didn’t?” you asked hopefully.
“No, I didn’t.” he chuckled, making you grin.
You bit your lip and nodded back at him. “And, you know, what happened that day...”
His eyes widened and he took your hands in his, “I’m really sorry. I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have done that, I made you feel uncomfortable and I still hate myself for doing that to you until this day...” he said apologetically.
“No it’s fine, I shouldn’t have ran off like that, it was so stupid of me.” you shook your head.
“I thought I scared you.” he said with so much guilt in his tone.
“Jungkook,” you whispered. You laced your hands with his firmly, “You didn’t. Not at all, I was just surprised and I didn’t know how to react. I must have hurt you, I’m sorry. I just want you to know that I really like you and...yeah.” you said shyly.
Jungkook had a small smile on his lips, “You do?”
“Mhm.” you said looking away.
That smile turned into a smirk, “So I was right, y/n did have a crush.”
You rolled your eyes at him, “It’s gonna fade if you keep at it.”
“Alright alright, I’ll stop teasing. I like you a lot too, y/n.” he said looking right into your eyes. His confidence was admirable.
“You could have been nicer you know? You wouldn’t stop sending me daggers through your stares and I even got you banana milk so you’d warm up to me but that was just weird, so then I didn’t know what to-mmpmh.”
And there it was again. Those soft lips against yours, his hands cupping your cheeks. Your hands moved to his hair to bring him closer as he pressed his lips against yours, occasionally pulling away only to dive back in again. His hands moved to your waist and pulled you on top of him. You finally felt all that muscle on him through his shirt, he really was as ripped as you imagined him to be. He poked his tongue softly past your lips and you let him in.
“Always...wanna...kiss you.” he said in between kisses.
You sighed and let out small noises of pleasure, grasping on his locks.
“So pretty.” he mumbled as he pulled away and moved to your neck, planting wet kisses there.
You moaned when he bit down on the flesh of your neck, which made him sigh heavily.
“You sound exactly like I pictured you would. So needy.” he growled.
“Jungkook.” you said breathlessly.
“Hmm?” he hummed as he continued to mark you.
“W-we really shouldn’t-ah-be doing this here.” you squeaked.
Just then his lips met your sweet spot and you could help but let that loud moan ripple through you, catching Jungkook by surprise.
“Fuck, you even sound pretty.” He continued to abuse the skin of your neck with his teeth and tongue until he finally pulled away to look at you.
Your face was flushed, eyes hazy and lips swollen. Jungkook tucked your hair behind your ears and rested his forehead on yours. He placed another soft kiss on your lips, making you smile. Your hands remained around his neck and you fidgeted for a bit before asking him.
“Jungkook?”
“Yes, princess?”
“I said that we shouldn’t be doing this here.” you said biting your lip.
He looked taken back at your sudden boldness and smirked at you.
“Are you saying you want me to have you over my chair in my studio?”
“Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying.”
_______________________________________________________
“Yoongi hyung?” Taehyung asked with his lips pressed together.
“Yeah?”
“Are they-”
“Yeah.”
_______________________________________________________
Business was picking up yet again, and to celebrate the anniversary of the shop’s opening, Yoongi decided to throw a small party at his and Jungkook’s shared apartment. Taehyung promised to get the alcohol and dragged Jungkook with him. Yoongi was spending the day cleaning the apartment and grumbling about how Jungkook is gross and never keeps the place clean. Yoongi was also inviting his other friends Seokjin, Namjoon, Jimin and Hoseok. They apparently graduated art school together and were some of his best buds. Jungkook knew them too, and he had introduced you to all of them. You were pretty close to Seokjin since he just has an incredibly friendly nature and he’s always cracking lame jokes which you can’t help but find funny. So it was your job to get the food for the party and Seokjin was told to go with you.
“y/n there’s soju!” he called loudly in the supermarket where literally everyone can hear him.
“I told you, Taehyung’s in charge of the booze, he probably already got some!”
“But he doesn’t know the good kind, like I do! Pleaseee, look there’s like 8 different flavours.”
“Seokjin.” you huffed.
“Okay fine, but if this party’s lame I blame you.”
“Why am I even friends with you, dork.” you grumbled.
Seokjin helped you reach the foods on the higher shelves and you were grateful for that. He also paid, another reason you became extra nice to him. It was already late in the evening and you guys had to get back and get ready for the party. You lugged the huge bags of snacks through the corridors, these guys really did eat a lot. Seokjin rang the bell and after a while Jungkook answered the door.
“You guys eat like pigs.” Seokjin huffed as he carried the huge bags of food.
“Hyung’s the one who goes through all the chips!” Jungkook retorted.
“Do you hear how he speaks to me?” Seokjin complained to Namjoon.
You giggled at them and moved to enter when Jungkook blocked your way.
“Nu-uh.” he said smirking.
“Move your fat ass out of the way, these are heavy.” you huffed.
“Okay, first of all, rude. Second of all, kiss first.” he demanded puckering his lips.
“Gross, who would wanna kiss you?” you said fake disgusted.
“y/n!” he cried like a child.
You laughed and dropped the bags on the floor and stood on your tippy-toes to kiss him. He smiled into the kiss and wrapped an arm around your torso keeping you pressed against him. You pulled away and nuzzled your nose against his.
“Can I come in now?”
He caught your lips with his again and bit on your bottom lip. You moaned softly making him inhale sharply.
“Guys, can you not do it at the damn doorstep?!” you heard Seokjin yell.
Jungkook and you laughed and he moved to carry the bags in being the strong man that he is. Later that night all of you huddled in front of the TV with blankets and more snacks. Most of them were passed out due to the high consumption of alcohol. You and Jungkook were still awake, and he was playing with the hem of your shirt while placing soft kisses on your collarbone. You ran your fingers through his hair and sighed at the feeling of his lips on your skin.
“You smell good.” he mumbled, pressing more kisses on your neck.
You only smiled and let him continue.
“Wonder if you taste good too.” he said casually.
Heat rushed to your cheeks and you smacked his arm softly.
“You would already know that.” you played along.
“Hm, yeah I do.” he smirked making you look away embarrassed.
He turned your head to face him by cupping your cheek.
“y/n” he murmured against your lips.
“Yeah?” you whispered.
“Wanna taste you.” was all he said before his lips touched yours again and your mind went into a frenzy.
I’m just gonna say that the guys were lucky to have been knocked out that night. There were some pretty scandalous things happening in Jungkook’s bedroom.

Brave Tender Heart 03 | The Duality of Secrecy
pairing: princess!reader x knight!jungkook
The prince massaged his temples roughly as he stared blankly at the script in front of him. An enthusiastic farmer believed he was enlightening the prince with his proposal of a new crop he had discovered. The farmer was proud to share his discovery with the prince in best hopes that it would benefit the kingdom. However, Taehyung was not convinced. Adding a new crop to the land was not an easy task. There were many factors to be considered, such as the type of soil, whether it grows collectively or if it liked to be secluded and rather snobbish. The prince tried to focus on the details of the script, but his head was pounding and he lost the will to concentrate.
“Sir Kim!” he groaned and he was by his side in a flash.
The farmer looked confused and worried at the prince’s unexpected reaction.
“Inform the maids to make my bed and prepare mother’s herb recipe for a headache. A jug of water and a bowl of soup, I feel I might collapse at any second.” Taehyung sighed.
Sir Kim immediately called upon the maids to take care of Taehyung. With all of the work Taehyung had to do, Sir Kim was very understanding of his plight. The prince had been overworked yet again and Sir Kim felt troubled in his heart as if it was his doing.
“Not to worry, my prince. Let’s set you off for the bedroom. The script will be looked over by myself and only when you are willing to hear about it should the news reach you. Rise now my prince.” Sir Kim said carefully as he helped Taehyung stand. The pair left the room and the farmer remained standing in the middle of the meeting room. Disappointed with how the proposal turned out, the farmer sighed and moved forward to pick up his script. Once he finished rolling it up he placed it under his arm and began to head for the exit.
“One moment, sir.” a man called out.
The farmer continued to move not realising that it was him that the man was referring to.
“Sir! The farmer with the script, halt.” the man called out again.
The farmer turned around looking surprised as he saw a tall and healthy man stride towards him.
“What is this crop you speak of?” the man ask.
The farmer looked unsure to share the information. “I beg your pardon, what position do you hold here?”
The man’s eyes widened and he let out a knowing ‘ah’ and extended his hand.
“My apologies I must have sounded extremely forward. I go by the name Kim Seokjin the head chef at this palace, I serve only the best to the prince and princess.”
The farmer nodded, “Ah, well pleased to meet you, Mr Kim. Jung Hoseok, I reside on the outskirts of the village and I have traveled a long way to present this proposal.”
“Mr Jung, I might be able to help you with your idea. Is this crop of yours edible?”
“Of course, Mr Kim! It is a variation of the paddy rice and is less susceptible to heavy rainfall. It would do well on the palace grounds since this is the only place in the kingdom with soil worthy enough to allow these crops to live. If the kingdom is able to harvest more rice it would be much cheaper for us villagers and we might be able to sell the food item during monsoon season where rice grains are scarce.”
“How terrific. But what’s your secret?” Mr Kim asked skeptically.
Hoseok looked confused, “Secret? I do not have any reason to believe there is any.”
“Well surely this crop of yours has some faults. It can’t be perfect, can it?”
“I would not dare to term it as perfect, but there is no downfall that we should be concerned of. Some hard work and regrowing of crops is all the effort we need to put in and we will have no reason to miss having rice during the monsoon.” Hoseok concluded.
“You build a strong case, Mr Jung. Therefore, I am offering you a place in a partnership. I happen to have a reserved plot of land handed to me by the palace, and I am allowed to use it to grow whatever I need to feed our dearest royal siblings. If you are willing to work with me, I shall allow your crop to grow fruitfully in it.” Seokjin said boldly.
“And what is it you would like in return?”
“That you provide those crops to me with no cost at all.”
“Fair enough, Mr Kim, are you sure this will not make the prince unhappy?”
“Do you think the prince would be unhappy to have a large bowl of steaming hot rice during the rainy season?” Seokjin joked.
Hoseok laughed and bowed to him as an act of saying goodbye. The two parted, happy to have made a profitable deal. Elsewhere in the castle, the princess was eagerly waiting for her brother to fulfil his promise. The prince, however, was dozing off in his room while the princess paced nervously in the corridors. Would Sir Jeon appreciate the plaque? Would it be a tad bit informal? Would it offend him so? The princess wanted to express her gratitude to his service, but why just his? Should he ask her that she was afraid she would not have a proper reply. It was because she liked him, and there was no knight she liked more than him. He made her feel comfortable and most of all, accompanied. Could she be acting selfish? It was rather unfair to award a knight with a plaque just because she liked him, what about the other knights? Though, it was just a plaque, however, at the same time it was not because the princess meant for it to have a large sentimental value. Her mind was going crazy.
“Princess, what are you whispering?” Sir Park asked as he eyed her with amusement.
“Whispering? You’re mistaken, I was not speaking at all.” y/n defended.
“In fact, you were. Tension and worry is not worth anything, princess. Relax, it will be here soon enough.” he assured.
“I am certain it will be here, Sir Park. That is not my concern.”
“Let me guess, this is concerning Sir Jeon.”
“He will not be mad, will he?” y/n asked worriedly.
“Mad? Princess, if there’s one thing I have never seen Sir Jeon do, it’s expressing his anger. He is lively and fun, calm when he needs to be. Anger is an unfamiliar sensation to him, and to feel it towards you I’m sure he will be more than regretful. Besides, who would be mad at receiving such a thoughtful gift?”
“I suppose you’re right.” y/n nodded.
“Princess,” a servant bowed. He held out the plaque towards the princess that was covered in a white cloth. Sir Park lifted the cloth slowly and this caused the princess to beam widely.
“It’s perfect, isn’t it?” she gasped.
“Now you need not worry about upsetting him.” said Sir Park grinning at the plaque.
The princess thanked the servant and then carried the gift in her own arms as she made her way to the entrance of the garden. Sir Jeon had agreed to meet her there for their scheduled morning walk.
“I shall leave you to it then, princess.” Sir Park said bowing.
“You can’t stay?”
“I’m afraid a knight’s duty calls. Let me know the details later, I’ll be waiting.” Sir Park smiled and then left the princess all on her own.
y/n tapped her fingers nervously on the plaque she was holding, and looked around for Sir Jeon but he was not spotted anywhere. She felt someone bump into her shoulder from the back and she stumbled, clutching onto the plaque for dear life.
“Oh dear, princess, I beg your forgiveness! I-It was completely unintentional, I sincerely apologise-”
“No worries, sir.” she said after she calmed down. “It was a mistake, that is well understood.” y/n said kindly.
“My apologies once again princess.” he repeated bowing. The man held a scroll of paper under his right arm and the princess was intrigued.
“And what might that be?” y/n asked curiously.
The farmer looked alarmed for a second as if the princess had caught him with some sort of illegal good. Then he realised she was referring to his scroll with his plan.
“It is a proposal I meant to discuss with the prince. He seems rather unwell, so I thought it would be best to return some other time.”
“The prince is unwell?” y/n asked concernedly. “What’s the matter?”
“I’m not sure, princess. He seemed tired, but not to worry he should be resting at the moment.”
y/n frowned as she thought about her brother. He must have overworked himself again. Maybe it was because he was working to get that plaque done so quickly. Then she felt a pang of guilt and looked away.
“Is anything the matter, princess?”
“Oh, not at all.” she lied. She didn’t know if what she was feeling at the moment was because of her brother’s weak state, or if it was because Sir Jeon was late for their walk. The afternoon sun was peeking through the clouds and it would be terribly hot outside.
“I shall take my leave.” Hoseok bowed and went off with his scroll tucked under his right arm.
y/n sighed and started to go on the walk herself. She lifted the heavy plaque while taking small, slow steps forward, observing the scene around her. In the distance she could see the farmers working on the field, and in the other direction she saw the horse stables. y/n walked for longer until the afternoon sun rose, and she turned around to head back inside. The palace was a lot cooler than the outside. The main hall looked inviting so the princess sat on one of the large chairs after she placed the heavy plaque on the table, and turned on the radio for entertainment.
In the meantime, Sir Jeon was struggling with saddening information elsewhere. He had woken up that morning feeling hopeful and positive for the first time in a long time because he was looking forward to spending his morning with the princess. However, life had other plans for him instead. He received a telegram just as he stepped out of his room at the palace. The jarring, red font alerted him that this was no simple matter.
His father was missing.
After a long quest in a kingdom far away, his father was defeated by the harsh brutality of the opposing army. Hundreds of them went into battle, and there were numerous bodies found, but none of them was his father’s. His father was not among those knights that returned either. There was no telling where and how his father was.
“He can’t be dead.” Jungkook muttered.
“Sir Jeon, we have reason to believe-”
“He’s missing, not dead. How could you so falsely accuse him of being so? It says so here in the letter that he’s dead but you just confirmed that he could just be missing.” he snapped angrily.
“Calm down, Sir Jeon. We have not made any accusations. The news is that your father is missing, but possibly...” the messenger paused.
Jungkook looked shocked, angered but also extremely hurt.
“Has the news reached my family?” he asked lowly.
“Just this morning, yes. We advise that you spend time with them, Sir Jeon.”
“You needn’t share any of your advice. It is written here on this telegram that my father is considered dead. What are you going to do if you find him alive?” he spoke angrily.
“The chances are slim, Sir Jeon. We do not want to give you and your family any form of false hope, we understand that this grievance is a tough process to go through-”
“So you won’t change it?” he snapped.
“I am only following orders, Sir Jeon. If you want, you can take this matter to my superiors, they are the only ones who can help you. However, I suggest you take some time to let this information settle in. Go and visit your family, stay together in these tough times. If you still wish to correct the status of your father then come to us in a week’s time and we will help you sort it out. As for now, there is nothing we can do.”
“Are you searching for him, at least?” Jungkook said defeatedly.
The messenger inhaled sharply, not sure of what to answer this poor boy that stood in front of him who had just lost his father.
“We hope that these things sort themselves out. There isn’t much we can do-”
“Just, leave me be.” Jungkook muttered, tired of hearing all the excuses.
After shutting the door he threw the telegram onto his bed and put his head in his hands. It was a lot to process, but Jungkook knew that being a knight was not a safe job. They were always thrown to fight, always exposed to danger that it shouldn’t be a surprise that his father was missing. He hadn’t spoke to his father in months since he had left for this quest which he probably should have thought about more since they usually wrote to each other each month. Jungkook felt depressed at one point, and he thought the best person to see right now was his mother. They probably needed to see him as well.
Jungkook went out early and jumped on his horse, Chingu, riding through the early morning mist. There were others gathered around his small home, probably seeking to offer some comfort. Jungkook went inside, and the atmosphere felt cold and empty. Chaeyong, his little sister was sat in the embrace of their neighbour. She didn’t look devastated, because she was too young to understand the impact of what had happened.
“Chaeyong.” Jungkook called out to her, and his little sister beamed upon seeing her brother.
“Jungkook oppa, you came back!” she exclaimed as she ran over to him.
Jungkook smiled and lifted his sister off her legs, twirling and tickling her so that she laughed until she couldn’t breathe, and he laughed along with her.
“Chaeyong, don’t be too loud-” his mother appeared. She stopped when she saw Jungkook. Jungkook put his sister down carefully and smiled sadly at his mother.
“I came as soon as I could, eomma.”
“Oh, Jungkook.” she teared up and pulled her son into a hug.
Although knights were taught to be tough and strong, Jungkook was a pure softie at heart. He couldn’t hold back his tears at the sight of his mother crying.
“He’s only missing.” Jungkook reassured. “He’ll find his way back to us.”
His mother sighed, “Jungkook, I’ve confirmed with the messenger earlier. They will document your father as dead.”
“What? Why would you tell them that?” Jungkook asked confused.
“He is not coming back, Jungkook. The odds are extremely low-”
“Don’t you have at least a little bit of hope for him? I can understand why the messenger didn’t, but he’s your husband!”
“They have not finished searching the site of the battle, he could be there. Even if he made it out alive, he was not found with the other knights. There is no way he could have survived in their land, they are murderous, Jungkook, you of all people should know that.” his mother scolded.
“He can fend for himself and survive this!” Jungkook said exasperated.
“That’s enough.” his mother snapped.
Jungkook huffed and wiped the small tears from his eyes.
“The sooner we accept this, the better. I know it’s difficult, Jungkook, but giving us hope that is non-existent will only hurt us more. Please, don’t fight this.” his mother calmed him down.
“Don’t cry, oppa.” Chaeyong tugged on his sleeve.
“I have to get back to the palace.” Jungkook lied.
“So suddenly? Shouldn’t the prince give you time to-”
“To grieve? Grieve on what, eomma? Father is still out there so there is not grieving necessary. I’ll have to head back now.”
“We haven’t spent time together in months, Jungkook. Stay at least for the day-” his mother tried to persuade.
“I have my duties to attend to, it’s my job. You knew from the very beginning that this was what my life was going to be like. You knew I could never spend time at home yet you pushed me into it, so now there is no room for complaints.” Jungkook said angrily.
His mother didn’t know what to say, and let her son go. Jungkook hugged his sister goodbye and then took Chingu out for a ride around the lake. He needed peace of mind, time to think things through and accept things. The grass was slightly damp and Jungkook lay down on its thick bedding. He closed his eyes and opened them to find more tears spilling out. The time he lay there crying silently extended into the afternoon, and then he spent the evening in slumber.
The princess switched off the radio. No matter which frequency she moved to all she could think about was: where the hell was Sir Jeon? She knew for sure he was not showing up, but she wondered if he was okay. The prince ascended the stairs and entered the living room to see his sister pondering deep in her thoughts. He spotted the plaque still on the table and could not help but to ask.
“I’m taking things did not go well?”
“Is he off on a mission? Did you send him to do things today?” y/n asked.
“Sir Jeon? No, in fact most of my day has been a blur. It feels like it has only just started.”
y/n remembered that her brother wasn’t feeling well and her expression softened immediately. “Are you feeling better?”
Taehyung nodded, “Yes, a lot better.”
“You stress to much, Tae.” y/n said frowning.
“Well, it’s not exactly a piece of cake to run a kingdom, I’m sure you would understand. You didn’t exactly succeed.”
The princess felt a pang in her chest at that statement, but she ignored it.
“All I’m saying is that remember that your health is extremely important. None of us would want to see you ill. And I apologise, I think I may have pressured you to get the plaque done in such a short amount of time.”
Taehyung looked confused and then shook his head. “Your plaque had nothing to do with this.”
“Are you sure?” y/n sounded surprised.
“Definitely, I was just stressing over the increased fires in town. I would have to compensate the entire kingdom if this keeps up.”
“We’ll find a way to reduce them.” y/n assured.
“Let’s hope we shall.” he nodded.
The princess heard the palace doors open and shut, and she stood up immediately. The prince turned to look and looked back at the princess.
“He’s back.” the prince confirmed.
y/n grabbed the plaque and rushed straight to the entrance. Jungkook was removing some of his armor, he looked tired and worn out. y/n was hoping for a good explanation as to why he stood her up this morning. She stepped forward and Jungkook looked up at her.
“Princess...” he said in a grateful tone, happy to see her. Then his expression fell when he saw her unpleasant one.
“Good to see you too, Sir Jeon.” she mumbled.
Then Jungkook remembered why he felt good when he woke up this morning. He completely skipped a walk with the princess. Well, guess who’s in big trouble.
“Shit....I am incredibly sorry, princess. I meant to meet you for our walk but it completely slipped my mind.”
y/n sighed, “That’s alright. A walk is not the most important thing, anyway.” she said trying to hide her disappointment.
Jungkook frowned and quickly took one of her hands in his. “No, it is not alright. I made a promise to you and I failed to live up to it. I was looking forward to spending this morning with you, princess, however the day took a drastic turn and I was caught up in it. If you let me, I’d like to make it up to you.”
y/n smiled softly at him, “Just tell me next time if you aren’t going to make it.”
Jungkook felt terrible, he can’t believe he upset the person he really, really liked.
“If I could turn back time, I would have been there for you, princess.” he said sincerely, looking into her eyes.
“And I believe you, Sir Jeon.” y/n confirmed.
He smiled at her in relief and she laughed at his funny expression.
“I have something for you.” y/n said pushing the plaque into his hands.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow and took it from her gratefully.
“And what might this be?”
“Reveal it and I shall explain to you.” y/n said nervously.
He looked at her and laughed softly, “I should be the one giving you a gift since I wronged you, not the other way around.”
“Just stop talking and open it, Sir Jeon. I’ve been waiting all day to give it to you.” y/n insisted.
He felt bad again and nodded, immediately pulling off the white cloth and reading the contents on the plaque. His frown only deepened as he went on reading.
“I-It’s a gift from the prince and I. We want to thank you and everyone before you who had served us here at the palace. I heard that your father’s medals and badges got lost in a fire and I know that this can never replace that but hopefully it’s something you can now keep to commemorate how loyal you and your family have been to us over many generations.” y/n explained.
Jungkook felt that upsetting feeling he felt earlier today.
“You made this to commemorate my father?” he asked not sounding happy.
“Uh, y-yes you could say that?”
“For the last time, my father is not dead.” he snapped harshly.
The princess looked surprised at his reaction and was confused at his response. “Excuse me?”
“He is just missing, not dead. If the entire kingdom wishes to give up on him there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s sickening and incredibly insulting. He will come back, and when he does all of you will feel ashamed. How can you speak all these lies without feeling any guilt? You’re crushing my family’s hopes, my hopes by constantly assuming that he is dead but I believe in that man and dead is the one thing that he is not. The sooner you realise that, the less stupid you will sound.” Jungkook said angrily.
y/n couldn’t move. She tried to comprehend what he was saying but she failed. He sounded angry yes, but she could see that he was even more hurt. His father is dead? Or wait, he’s missing? What was he talking about?
“I-I’m sorry, I intended for this to be a gift, I had no idea it would offend you-”
“You’re just like the rest, princess. It’s highly disappointing.” he muttered.
Jungkook left the plaque on a table next to him and then walked off without saying anything else. y/n felt the tears threatening to spill out of her eyes but she held it back. Why was she even crying anyway? Some people just don’t like gifts, there was no harm in that. But why did he have to insult her in that way?
“He literally called me stupid and disappointing.” y/n complained to Sir Park.
“Wow, you must have really struck a nerve, princess.”
“But I don’t know what I did! He started talking about his father who is apparently missing? And something about how the entire kingdom didn’t believe in him and ugh, he’s so confusing.” y/n huffed.
“His father? Jungkook’s father was sent on a missions a few years ago and he never returned. He wrote to Sir Jeon every month, although if you come to think of it he hasn’t for a while. I would know because I collect his letters for him.” Sir Park said.
y/n frowned, “So something happened to his father? That’s horrible, but I had no idea until just now. And how is that related to him getting upset over the plaque?”
“Maybe you should talk to him.” Sir Park suggested.
“I don’t think he wants to see anyone right now, Park. Especially me.” y/n sighed.
It was bad she had to spend the day thinking about why Sir Jeon didn’t show up. Now she was going to spend the night thinking about his outburst earlier. Sir Park wished y/n a good night a while later and left the room for y/n to get ready for bed. She really wanted answers, but she could only get them from Jungkook. However, he was in no mood to speak right now. It was going to be a sleepless night for the two of them. y/n couldn’t lose Sir Jeon, he was an amazing person who made her feel comfortable and at home. After a long, long while she finally found a new friend, a companion. He understood her in so many ways, she would never be able to open up to someone else like that. She wanted to mend things as soon as possible, because her heart was not at ease that they were in a bad place. Which is why she decided she would sneak into his room, tonight.

Horse?! If you need a personal groom or stable girl I am here and at the ready!!!!!!! I have lots of experience with handling horses, caring for them, tack, etc. I’d love to hang out with Chingu!!!!!
Sir Jeon: That is incredibly kind of you, anon! However, I’d hate to inconvenience you. If you’d like, I’d be happy to introduce you to Chingu. He is very friendly and loves people. I could teach you how to ride, and we could feed him apples together. He is rather picky though, he hates the green ones. But whatever you do, do not touch his tail. He’s extremely vain about it and will kick you if you try and mess it up. Trust me, he kicked me right in the gut and I was paralysed on the ground for a while. So much for taking care of him so well.
A/N: thank you for your ask anon <3 Chingu is looking forward to meeting you, and so is Sir Jeon ;)

Describe the princess hehehee
Sir Jeon: is blushing furiously whoops Ah, where do I even start? The princess is many things, she is talented, kind, pretty, and has the biggest heart. She always puts everyone before herself and I admire that kind of selflessness. The princess is so lovely to talk to, we tend to have much in common and I feel as though I could go on talking to her for hours and hours. She loves horses too, and when she rides them she looks so carefree and elegant. She communicates with them so well, I’m envious. I remember distinctly one time where the princess returned to he castle with a little girl grasping her hand tightly. Everyone was confused, it was quite comical. I happened to be back at the palace at the time after a long mission. She demanded that the little girl was to be fed until she could eat no more and to be given a room at the palace to stay in for a good while. It was later revealed that the little girl had lost her family in a fire and she was the only survivor of that tragic incident. The princess kept telling her that she was so strong and so lucky to have survived. The princess longed to have her stay at the palace for good, however a distant relative of hers stepped forward to claim her. The princess was devastated that day, since she and the girl had bonded greatly. Until today, she makes it a point to write letters to her friend, and did not allow the miles apart to come in between them. There has not been a woman I have encountered who would have been so generous and kind as the princess was. She is a figure I look up to, and it is no wonder that the kingdom respects her greatly. It is only a shame that the prince behaves coldly towards her, I sincerely hope that changes someday. In the meanwhile, I’ll gladly spend time with the princess, it feels like I never want to be apart from her. It would be extremely disappointing if I was made to leave for another duty soon. Let us hope that is not the case.
A/N: thank you for your ask anon! Honestly, I was waiting for someone to ask this question, because it would make Sir Jeon flustered and who wouldn’t wanna see that? Hahaha. Anyway, the ask box is still open!

Does your horse have a name? Do you have any other animal companions like a lizard or something? Just curious...
Sir Jeon: Yes, definitely anon. I'm so glad you asked. His name isn't that complex, I call him Chingu. *laughs* I'm not very good with names, but Chingu is my most loyal and trusted friend. He really lives up to his name. If you're wondering what he looks like, he is a stunning, black coloured steed with white around his hooves. An incredibly handsome horse he is. Other animal companions? The term sounds appealing. I love animals in general, however there are a few around the castle that have remained for years. For instance, there is a frog at the pond in the sacred garden. I have never seen him close up as I am not allowed to enter, but the cheeky little fellow always hops about excitedly when he sees me. The prince also owns a shelter for stray animals and from time to time I visit it with my younger sister who adores the puppies. I made a friend, and my sister and I named him Lovely, because that is exactly what he is. My sister wanted to adopt him but we simply could not afford to keep him. Instead, I take her to visit him at the shelter often. He slowly became my friend too *smiles*
A/N: thank you for your ask anon! It is much appreciated. Feel free to send in more if you'd like :)

If you weren’t a knight, what would you want to be?
Sir Jeon: Good question, anon. I'd have many things I'd like to be. I have always dreamt of leading a simple life as an artist. As you may already know, I admire literal arts and have had a passion for it since my youth. It would be an ideal life where I dedicate my time to paintings and artworks and sell them for a small bit of income. The money is not and will never be the priority. What matters is that I am practicing something I love. As the saying goes: those who can't do, teach. I would love to spend time with the young, strong and wonderful boys that are recruited to train at the castle. I will teach them defenses, honour, bravery, trust, loyalty and love. I will guide them towards the right path and use their title as something to be honoured with a purpose to serve and not as a tool for power. Like the princess, I would love to work with the less fortunate. They deserve the world and it pains me to see them getting by with less and less every day. To be of great help to them would make me immensely happy. Those are my aspirations, dear anon.
A/N: thank you for your ask anon ❤ Sir Jeon is so pleased to answer all of your questions. Feel free to send in more :)

Do you like being a knight? What are your favorite and least favorite things about being a knight?
Sir Jeon: good evening lovely anon. That's a great question, however I'm not sure I can give you a definite 'Yes' or 'No' answer. Ever since I could remember being a knight was my entire life. When I was a young boy, my father decided my future as a knight to serve the royal palace. It has always been that way, as if this destiny was fixed for me. Being a knight, growing into one, is all I've ever known. To me, having this title is far more than a job, it has become my identity. Being a knight does benefit me greatly when it comes to the sense of power and authority I have. However, what I love most about being a knight is that my work is purposeful, meaningful, and it makes a great difference in the lives of people. Knowing that I am contributing to the well-being of the people, it gives me peace of mind. Horses are also a significant part of my day and I enjoy spending time with them, even more than humans sometimes. Speaking of which, I enjoy the nights I spend with my fellow friends. Sir Park is my closest companion and we have been serving together for many years. There are nights we just lie on the grass and gaze at the stars. Having this position, I also happened to meet the princess who is absolutely kind. Despite all this, being a knight makes me feel as if I have lost my freedom. I had this title thrust upon me before I even had the time to figure out who I was as a person. That is the only thing I loathe, that being a knight has stripped me from my identity. My father never considered that maybe I wanted to live a different life, instead he handed me this one. Yet, I remain as a knight because I was taught to honour my position no matter what. It makes me feel trapped in a way. I will continue to serve the prince and princess no matter what, because it is my duty to do so. And that's all for my answer, thank you and have a great day, anon.

I don’t go on tumblr enough to know if this is the ask box or not so I’m very sorry if I’m wrong!! but what is Sir Jungkook’s favorite hobby/thing to do? Does he like books or does he sneak out at night... things like that.
A/N: Hi anon :) You've reached the ask box! Hahah don't worry.
Sir Jeon: "hi anon, lovely to meet you. I have several interests and hobbies that keep me occupied. I'm really imaginative/creative, and I admire literal art mainly y/n's pfft. I love horse riding as well, it's my favourite part about being a knight, I admire how loyal horses are and I'm a big fan of thrill and adventure, so I often ride them with speed. If I've got time to spare I would do things like sketch, or even write little poems about my mood. Oh and I appreciate spending time with family. I don't get to see them often, so I value every minute that I have with them. Books aren't of particular interest to me, as I find them too lengthy. Short stories, poems, I prefer something that I can read quickly so that I can spend more time focusing on the meaning of what I had just read. Lastly, I do keep a journal. I find comfort writing in it everyday, it gives me peace of mind and helps me maintain my sanity. *chuckle* I hope this answers your question anon, have a lovely day."
A/N: thank you for your ask! Feel free to drop in more if you'd like. I hope you look forward to reading Chapter 3 of Brave Tender Heart, coming out soon. Thank you for reading my works 💕
