Nothing

That’s all I ever hear, all I ever see

They say it’s nothing

I say it’s nothing

Not a big deal, no effort whatsoever

But we all know it was the biggest mistake of our lives

It was definitely something people would come to remember long after we have passed

The moment the cold metal recoiled in my hands was the moment I’d never forget

That single spasm of the finger, making it squeeze against the trigger, was not nothing, but something I won’t regret

The Death of L

Searching for something so desperately, and it ends up being right in front of your face the entire time

There was always just one piece that was missing, the link that would’ve connected all thoughts to an answer

In the end, you found out too late

You lost

He found you first

And so, you die, defeated by your opponent, the one who cleverly outwitted you

Throbbing pain in your chest overwhelms you as you take your final breath

Who knew it could come to end like this?

You will be missed

Your legacy will live on, and you’ll be remembered by the ones whose lives you touched

Out with a whisper

Kira

I find this world not one that satisfies

It can transport me to my dreams for a moment, but a moment only

I want to live in my dreams, not merely spectate them happen to someone else

They say I can’t get there without hard work, without standing out from the crowd

In a way, they’re right

I am one in billions, just another number, another face, another sound

Sometimes, I’m not even that

If people saw what I was thinking, the ideas and genius concepts that flow through my head, I would be recognized, appreciated, respected

I would be allowed to trample and harp on others, just as they have done to me

They may not know they have done so, but their presence is all the hurt that it takes to reach me

They need to go, and I need to rise

There is only one way to get rid of the horrid rust in this world, we all know that

It’s only the way we go about doing the deed that makes it stand out

I will make the means to cleanse this world of the people who don’t deserve to be here

The best part is, I’ve found a way

Have you ever heard the expression that words are powerful?

That holds more meaning than you might think, and is especially true of names

Why am I doing this?

I was bored

That’s all

I will become the god of this new world

I am justice!

A Pirate's Life For Me

The wind blows gently

The red sails fill with its essence, guiding the ship to wherever it may roam

The crystal blue waters foam and crash against the hull

The rippling waves are sliced by the wooden form that slips through their centers

The sun is warm, so warm that any unfortunate marooned men would bake under its heat

The crew of the Jackdaw doesn’t seem to mind

They sail where they want and plunder as they please

But lo!

An enemy man o’ war appears in the distance, and it looks like a storm’s coming!

The sun fades behind dark grey clouds

The heavens cry down heavily upon the deck of the ship

The gentle winds transform into rabid gales

Ravaging monsters of salty brine jolt the Jackdaw to and fro, choking the men onboard

Lightning strikes down only a moth’s wing away from the starboard bow, deafening and electrified

The enemy ship is in sight, towering over the ocean in a mass of sails and cannons

Turning the ship parallel to the devil, the captain yells,

“Fire!”

A barrage of metal rains down on both parties, sending flames towards the sky from whence they came

The storm is at its peak, and the thrill of the battle has only begun

What a life of treasure-hunting exhilaration I’ve created for myself: the life of

A pirate

Watching, staring, contemplating

The screen glows like a flame in the surrounding blackness

The hum of the smooth machinery is constant but quiet

Eyes shine as they reflect the gleaming square back to its source

Pages, many pages and websites to scan, to dig into

Research yields more research

Victims, most likely suicides, paint the screen with their faces and names

Wild hair, thumb to lip, hunched over in his seat, the critical mind pieces together the puzzle, determined to solve this mystery

All heart attacks

Every single one

Coincidence?

I think not

These men were murdered

And the killings were concentrated heavily in Japan

Whoever the murderer may be, I will figure out his motives, how he kills, and capture him to be executed

I am justice

My brother, my dear, sweet brother, why do you hate me so?

My sister, my loyal, loving sister, why do you betray me?

My mother, my caring, comforting mother, why do you look upon me with scorn?

My father, my strong, powerful father, why do you grip my wrist ‘til I can feel it no more?

I’ve done what I’ve done, my salvation, my redemption

You are traitors, all of you!

You send me away, break my bones, shred my dignity to slivers

Yet, my fight still stands, not with me, but with all of my companions

Try to catch us all, and you will fail

We are too many

I’ll share not my secrets

I hold my tongue for the honor of our cause

For that, you watch as I’m sent to the chopping block

And my head rolls and rolls

What of courage?

It seems valiant, bold

The very mention of it will instill some hope in the hearts of the uncertain

But what is it really?

False bravery?

Foolish impulses?

Confused actions?

The true meaning lies in the heart of the holder, not in those of the ones who witness them

Fire may spread

Many may die

Yet, courage’s meaning remains its own

White may fade to black
