The Nightmare (Gregory House x Reader)

Hi, I just had a pretty intense nightmare. Can I please request House x reader where reader stops sleeping due to nightmares and House notices and helps and eventually they just one day end up passing out from exhaustion and they are asleep on his shoulder? Sorry if that's too long! Thank you.

Today, like for the passed week or so was not good. Recently you barely got enough sleep after all the nightmares you've gotten, and it's even worse when your basically needed to the hospital 23/7 waking up early as 5am and staying late at 1am . "Ms. Y/L/N, we got a patient for you in room 231. It's a little girl with a high fever and is growing rashes on her body." One of the nurses said to me making me nod. "Uh… sure, yes… yes… Okay." You said tiredly rubbing your eyes as you walked you way to the room. Before you entered in the room you quickly fixed your hair and forced yourself a present and soft smile ready to show your not at all dying from lack of sleep.

"Good morning, Mr and Ms, Phylis." You said nicely as the two greeted you back. "So… anything?" Ms. Phylis asked worriedly as you checked all the little girl Amy's tests which showed she had a mild fever. "She's all good for now, nothing severe. Once we figure out what she needs, we'll be giving her amoxicillin to help with both her skin and her fever." You explained to the two. "What does that do?" Mr. Phylis asked making her sigh as your brain couldn't remember what they do.

"Uh… It helps kill the bacteria and helps with ear infection, strep throat, pneumonia, skin infections, and more." You said sighing hoping your not mixing up different medication. "All right, thank you doctor." Mr. Phylis said as I nodded and checked Amy's IV and left the room to turn in some papers to House.

Like before, when you stood outside is door you quickly made a soft look and tried your best not to look tired and entered in House's office. "Got some papers for you to sign." You said softly to House who looked at you weirdly. "So are you now a late drinker?" House asked you making you look at him confused. "No… What makes you think that?" You asked him a bit offended by him. "You're eye bags are very dark, your concealer isn't doing it's job." House said making you look away from him to look at yourself in a mirror close by and saw how your eyes bags were indeed showing itself.

"Shit…" You said as basically everyone, every doctor, every nurse, every patient you've seen all basically saw your eyes. "Wow, Ms Y/L/N you said a bad word." House said making you roll your eyes annoyed at his rudeness. "Okay, yes I haven't gotten enough sleep… But I didn't drink… I've just been having a hard time sleeping for the past--" "Few weeks, yeah. I've noticed." House said getting up from his office chair walking towards you.

"How do you know?" You asked while House lifts your face up to face him as he inspects your eyes more. "You're my employee of this team, and I must say, you are very terrible at hiding things." House said to you making me sigh in annoyance. "Look, I'll… I'll try to get more sleep. I just can't." You said so pissed off, but not because of House and stuff, but it was because you barely got any sleep for the past week or so. "Then what is the issue for your lacking of sleep?" House asked you. "It's just hard to sleep recently." You said fighting with your fingers.

"By the look of your posture and your attitude… You can't sleep because of nightmares… Your always anxiety… you magically one day can't sleep right… any time something bad or off happens you pinch yourself probably to make sure your not dreaming… So… you got those nightmares… huh little kid." House said making you both shocked and pissed at him. "Look, if your not gonna help, I'll deal with it myself and continue my job." You said walking towards the door to leave his office. "What would you do? To help your nightmares?" House asked but genuinely curious.

"Maybe some sort of pill? Prazosin seems to be my best option." You said thinking about going to the pharmacy to get some. "No, you're not." House said confusing you. "When did you start telling what I can and can't do in my personal life?" You asked him. "It's been weeks you've been having this, and you are for sure the one person I know who'd get quickly dependent on any pill… making you and addict." House said softly at the end but to you… you just got annoyed. "Look… you have no say in what I do to help myself." You said angrily opening the door and left to continue to work. -Time Skip-

It soon got late and your basically at the verge of passing out. So you walked over to the washing stalls and started washing your face to wake yourself up as you're going to be staying at the hospital longer then usual. As you stared at yourself at the mirror your pager rang making you look and saw House as paged you making you sigh in annoyance not wanting to talk to house.

"What?" You asked entering his office. "Whoa, you look way worse then earlier today." House said making her roll your eyes. "What is it you need?" You asked him. "You're going to rest here." House said using his cain and pointed at his couch. "I can't sleep, I have patients and paper work to do." You said but felt a hit of exhaustion making everything blurry and you soon started feeling your body move left and right. "I think you should sleep." House said getting up from his seat and quickly helped you down on his couch as he sat down next to you. "I'm fine…" You said weakly but you and him knew you're tired. "Just rest." House said to you as you closed your eyes and let your boy finally relax. Soon enough you slowly felt your head resting on House's shoulder which would freak you out but at this point you didn't give a shit and got that sleep you needed.

As you slept on House's shoulder, he just sat there a bit awkwardly but also quite fine with you there. Recently House himself even noticed how much kinder he is towards you and how he'd let you get away with things that would usually piss him off. And sleeping on his shoulder would be that… But he just continued looking at you and didn't move not wanting to wake you up, looking at you in a loving way as he too slowly closed his eyes to rest.

Summary : John confesses his love for the reader when reader gets injured

Carter almost recoiled when his hand accidentally touched your limp one. You were ice cold. Carter blinked away tears as the other doctors fought to save your life. This can’t be it. He felt his heart tighten in pure, unadulterated fear.

“I love you. I love you, Y/N. I love you so much.”

He was unable to stop himself from blurting that out but he sighed in relief as your eyes opened to mere slits. Your voice was incredibly slurred as you tried to form a sentence.

“Love you,too.. I-”

Your heart stopped. All hell broke loose.

1 hour earlier

Winters in Chicago were unforgiving. Wind nipped at any exposed skin that it could find causing shivers to make its way through your body. It had been a fairly busy start to the day as there was an accident due to the ice and snow that had started to fall. It wasn’t clear to some folks that it was an incredibly bad idea to speed, let alone speed when the roads are slick. You were standing outside by yourself, trying your best to hide your shivers when a small child ran up to you.

“Help! Please! It’s my friend. She-she! She’s hurt!” The young child bawled and you immediately grabbed her hand and let them guide you to the child that was a few blocks away.

In retrospect, you should have gotten more help, more jackets. Unbeknownst to you, this would be a decision that saved someone’s life but almost cost your yours.

The wind had already started to pick up and the little child had started to shiver harder than you. So, you made the choice to take off one of your two jackets and wrap it around the child as the two of you made your way to the injured child.

“Can- Can you tell me exactly what happened?” You had to raise your voice since the wind was howling.

“We were playing and she dropped her stuffed tiger and the wind was so strong that- that it blew it onto the lake.” The child’s voice was slightly cracked as tears started to stream down her face as she recounted the details of what happened to her friend.

You could tell just by looking at her that she was suffering from severe hypothermia. In her tiny little hand was the stuffed animal. She was ice cold and her clothes were soaking wet. Turns out that she had fallen through the ice when she got her stuffed animal and her friend had somehow gotten the strength to pull her back to shore and run as fast as her little legs could carry her to get help.

“Okay, I’m gonna do everything that I possibly can to help your friend, but when we start to go back, I need you to stay in front of me, okay?” You said, struggling to stop your teeth from chattering from the cold.

The young girl nodded and you braced yourself before taking off your second coat. Underneath both of your coats you had on a hoodie that had a faded name of some college embedded on the center of it. You had gloves on but your hands were still almost numb from the wind chill. You took your second coat and wrapped it carefully but firmly around the unconscious child.

You sighed in relief as the young girl who was walking in front of you had seemed to be a little warmer. You wrapped one arm under the girl’s knees and another under her back but standing up with her in your arms. As you begin to walk, you could feel the cold beginning to seep deep down into your bones. You decide to play flames to keep the other little girl calm. You wanted to distract her from her injured friend. The unconscious little girl had a slow pulse but at this point, you were just glad that she had one.

“S-so had old are you guys?” You cursed mentally when you realized that your breathing was already starting to become broken up.

“ I’m 6. And she is 7 and a half.”

“I-I-I think that it was very brave of you to save your friend like that.” You answered back, trying to fight off the wave of vertigo that had come over you.

“Thanks!”

The hospital sign was now showing and you used the rest of your strength to push faster and harder to get this hypothermic girl into the hospital. You stumbled inside and Mark noticed you. At first, he was about to ask you where you had gone but then saw the child in your arms, and the child next to you, he went into doctor mode. Mark also made note that you were not shivering anymore. Before you knew it, both kids were gently taken by Doug to get medical help. You managed to lock eyes with John before your eyes rolled back into your head. The last thing you remember was suddenly feeling a strange warmth and strong arms wrapping around you.

John winced in sympathy as he caught you in his arms, making sure you were secure. Your skin was ice cold and you weren’t even shivering anymore. He felt his heart tighten in fear but he pushed it down and stood with your limp body in his arms. He immediately called out for help but Mark was there with a gurney. Carter carefully placed your body on the gurney, subconsciously grabbing your hand, ignoring the frigid feel of your fingers. After you were started to be taken care of, you were able, against all odds, to get your eyes open. Your body still felt incredibly weird but you were able to make out John and Mark’s voice. Mark took your temperature and Carter let a single tear stream down his cheek when he saw your temperature was 85 degrees. Mark had started you on a liter of warm saline to try to help warm you up.

“Johnn…” You moaned softly trying to turn your head towards his voice.

Without any prior warning, he blurted out “I love you. I love you, Y/N. I love you so much.”

It took the last of your energy to reply to him

“Love you, too… I-” Your voice trailed off and your eyes slipped shut. The monitor played out a continuous beep. Your heart stopped. All hell broke loose.

You were down for 30 seconds before they got you back. Mark saw the state that John was in and made him go get Peter and Doug. That was the longest 30 seconds of John’s life. Seeing you lay on that hospital bed, limp and not breathing, just… He did not want to lose you..

The next time you woke up, you were warm. John was asleep in the chair that was positioned right next to your bed. The memories came flooding back. You slowly sat up, incredibly sore but grateful that you were alive. You had always been in love with John but you never had the courage to tell him your true feelings about him. This was too close. You almost died. You sighed but smiled as John started to wake up. Once he had woken up and realized that you were awake, he jumped up and begin rambling off questions to you.

“Any dizziness? Let me get Mark and let him know you’re awake.”

“How are you feeling?”

“Your’re not in any pain, are-” You cut him off by pulling him to you and placing a soft kiss on his lips. You smiled as you paused and sat back.

“ I love you, too.”

You felt your heart flutter when his face lit up. That was a major weight off your chest and you smiled when he kissed you, his hand stroking your cheek gently. You sighed in content. Even in your hospital bed, you felt like you were on cloud nine.

Decorating with the Avengers + Others for Autumn

Requests are open! Read the rules and send them in!

The team

Okay, so when the weather starts to change and the leaves start to fall from the trees, you can bet that stores will reintroduce pumpkin spice products. Whenever you wanna decorate for fall, some people will help you while others will claim that they are helping but are eating all the Halloween decorated candy and goods that are in the kitchen.

Tony Stark

He'll definitely tease you about decorating. Might toss a couple of candies at you to see your reaction but nothing that can't be fixed with a quick kiss and a few of those (wrapped) candies thrown back at him at full force.

"Damn, Y/N." Tony laughed as he ducked the full on pumpkin shaped Snickers bar.

He is a bit amused when you use those autumn ambience videos on YouTube as inspiration for decorating and doing a little bit of crafts. He'll eventually get into the Autumn spirit. He playfully blames you when you see that he made a suit that had the colors of Autumn.

Steve Rogers

He'll definitely help you decorate. His decorating skills are a bit rusty from ya know..... But, he'll definitely try and help. Nowadays, he's kinda impressed about how much the human race has advanced.

He notices that when he went to the store with you to get a few things, that a good portion of the decorations were shiny and sparkly. He'll totally be down if you ever wanted to do a Autumn picnic. He makes sure that if the weather is particularly chilly, that you both are dressed for it and have maybe like a portable battery operated heater to keep you guys warm

He definitely wants to make sure that you are comfortable and he sure does not want you to get sick. If you love to bake, he'll also be your first taste tester and he will give you honest feedback on your baked goods.

Bucky Barnes

"Whatcha, doing there, doll?" Bucky asks as he watches you struggle to put up some decorations for the Fall season. When you tell him you are decorating, he'll hold you steady as you put orange led lighting up outside. He will also offer you his jacket if you get cold. He will always offer you his help and will help you get down after putting up the decorations outside. He loves how excited you get when the season of Autumn comes around.

If you bake, then he will tease you, especially if you make something like a pumpkin pie. Bucky may or may not play sweetest pie by dua lipa and Meghan thee stallion. "What's the matter, doll? You seem a bit flustered." However, he's impressed by the skill of your baking. He ate the first slice and went back for a few more. "You could probably sell these. They are that good."

If you want picnics, he'll ask you to bring two pumpkin pies alongside some other things. Also, he may or may not approve if you want to put pumpkin and autumn leaves stickers on his metal arm. He probably would agree reluctantly but if it's something like Autumn colors bedazzling, he doesn't know if he would let you do that though.

Thor

When you guys are on earth, he likes how many pumpkin flavored food and drinks there are during this time of year.

He will EAT all the pumpkin pie poptarts and then beg you to get some more. You would be better off just getting a 36 pack of those to be honest. And yes if you make homemade pumpkin baked goods he will eat those as well. You asked him for feedback once and all his said was "Another!"

If you guys on Asgard you may or may not get weird looks while you are decorating. When Thor tells his parents that this is kind of a tradition of yours, they don't mind. Your pumpkin spice cookies somehow end up being really big in Asgard so you always make a huge batch and leave them in the dining hall.

Loki

Similar to Tony. He will definitely tease you about you wanting to decorate for the Fall/Halloween season. However, he loves your soups during this time of year. Not because they provide warmth when the weather starts to get cold (he was born a frost giant, he's used to it) but just the flavor of your soups.

Whatever pumpkin baked good you make might disappear overnight, but Loki swears it wasn't him like you didn't see him devouring it at 3am the prior night. Loki will also brag about your baking skills to EVERYBODY. Like he is always mentioning how you found a new pumpkin desert to make.

Loki also slowly but surely starts to judge other people's house. If they don't have Halloween/Fall decorations, he is definitely judgemental, honestly. When he judges other's decorations for not being "as good as yours." He uses that as a way to compliment you instead of telling you directly.

Dr Strange

You are gonna have to beg Dr Strange to teleport you to a pumpkin patch. You force him to go on the Hay ride as well. Pretends to not like it but he actually likes spending time with you.

May or may not like the pumpkin spice latte that you get from the local Starbucks. Don't be surprised if he used magic to make sure you don't fall or get hurt while decorating.

Gonna look at you like 🙄 when you beg him to use his cape when you convince him to have a picnic but does it anyway because he loves you. And then 🙄 turns into 😶 when his cape willing goes over to you when you guys start to set up the picnic.

Peter Parker

Definitely uses his Spidey powers to decorate with you. He tries to convince you to just relax and that he can do it but you want to be helping also. If he is able to convince you to relax, you'll definitely just do some Instacart and order pumpkin pie, the ingredients for some pumpkin spice drinks (hot and cold), and the Ingredients needed for a thick and hearty soup since New York could get cold early in October.

If he isn't able to convince you, then he'll make sure that you are secure at ALL times, no matter how much you fuss. He would also love to go on coffee dates with you. Actually, to be honest, he wouldn't mind just being close to you in general, even if it's just staying at home during a rainy, cold, and cloudy day. He wants to try different seasonal drinks with you. However, during a quick trip to the grocery store, you two say apple cider flavored chips, and the two of you looked at each other before putting it in the cart. Hey, you never know. You might love it.

Bruce Banner

Imma tell you right now. Bruce did not expect to wake up at 3 in the morning to an empty half of the bed. Bruce saw that light was coming from down the hallway so he groggily got up as he senses heightened. "Y/N?" He called out, his voice slightly slurred as he had just woken up from a deep sleep. "In the kitchen." He heard you reply. He wondered if you got up to satisfy a midnight snack craving.

He was taken by surprise when he walked into the kitchen to find you in the process of decorating it with Autumn seasonal decorations? Then he checked the living room and it seemed as if it was already decorated and he heard the slight crackle of the fire. He then wondered why you didnt wake him up. Yeah, he's tired but he definitely could have helped you. And plus he could have made sure that you didnt get any cuts or bruises.

"You doing this, now?" Bruce asked, gratefully accept the homemade pumpkin spice latte with two shots of espresso. "You never had 3am motivation?" You laughed as he took a long gulp. "I think I may have lost track of time though."

Natasha Romanoff

She'll definitely use her flexibility to help you decorate the place. And then after the decorations are all set up, she'll just ask for a coffee date. If you like to create crafts for the autumn season, she will definitely try to talk you into selling them on Etsy or a similar website. If you do sell them, she will definitely come with you to make sure that no one will try and hurt you.

If you just want to use them as gifts, she'll help you make sure that the packaging is cute and creative. During one particular craft, it ended in a tickle fight, which in turn ended in the two of you being covered in art supplies ( paint, pencil shavings, etc). She also loves how fascinated you are with her hair. It gives the vibe of Autumn.

She also LOVES rainy Autumn days where the two of you just read a book or watch a movie while ordering some takeout. On rainy days, she loves hot meals since the rain can make the day so much cold than normal. Also, she loves cuddling with you as you guys just relax and take in the decorations or just the vibe of autumn.

Wanda Maximoff

She is insanely protective over you so yes, she will definitely use her powers to put up decorations, no matter how much you protest. She will either use her powers to put up the decorations or use them to hold you up so you can put them up yourself without worrying about sketchy and unstable ladders.

You do have to convince her to hold you up though because she is a bit scared that something will happen and you will end up falling and getting hurt. She would never forgive herself if you got hurt while she was using her powers to hold you up

Afterwards, lots of cuddles and most likely a coffee date. She also lets you play with her hair as it most definitely fits the autumn vibe that you were trying to decorate for. Y'all will definitely do picnics and what not but don't be surprised if she puts up an invisible force field to protect you two during the picnic. The foods and drinks include apple cider, pumpkin pie, and a nice hearty chili, especially if the weather is particularly cold.

Vision

Honestly, he is so loyal. Like, for real, you want to make everything in the house the color of fall? He'll go out with you to get decorations and paint. He definitely is a bit amused when you excitedly point out that his red skin and mind stone is the perfect combination for fall. He also wants you to be happy but he also wants you to be safe.

He's dead ass serious when he wants you to ask for his help if you need it. He can fly, for Pete's sake. And Vision has no problem holding you for as long as you may need or want. He's protective too. But somethings slip through the cracks so if you do end up getting hurt or bruised, he'll definitely make sure that you are okay. He'll bring you ice for your bruise, and he will absolutely give you a message.

He also will go with you on trips. There's a trail that you two frequent that has the most beautiful leaves. The end of the trail ends at a section of a park that has a lake. Vision loves to watch the sunset with you and he'll chuckle when you comment on the way the stone in his head has a sparkle when the golden sunset light is on it. When y'all get back home... movies, cuddles, and pizza are the perfect way to end the eventful day.

Sam Wilson

Okay, so Sam is confused. He left for a run with Steve and literally when he came back, there was Autumn decorations up. He wondered how you were able to put them up and also a bit worried because he didnt want you to be hurt or sore. He thought that he would find you in the bedroom with a ice pack on a bruise that was somewhere on your body but boy was he surprised.

He found you in the kitchen shoving a piece of pumpkin pie down your throat. Y'all made eye contact and you laughed, causing yourself to choke slightly. Sam handed you a glass of water to help wash down the thick slice of pie.

"When did you have the time to get pumpkin pie?" Sam asked in confusion as he cut himself a slice.

"After I put up the decorations." You replied, your voice sounded a bit thick.

"What? I was gone for that long... Damn."

Clint Barton

"Y/N, seriously?" He said looking around the place that was decorated. He chuckled. "Yeah, it's definitely better if you decorate." You laughed at his comment as your mind went back to a year ago.

"I decorated." Clint said as you came home from a run to the grocery store. You had to refrain from laughing. By decorating, he just put a fake pumpkin craft in the middle of the dining room table. That was it. "I think I'm let you decorate from here on out." Clint said before looking at the table and bursting into contagious laughter. One minute later and the both of you were in tears as you guys were laughing so damn hard.

He'll also help you harvest and maybe even sell the autumn vegetables that you started growing early in the summer season. He also helped set up your greenhouse. He likes how well you incorporate pumpkin into your recipes. He thinks it adds a unique and cool flavor that doesn't overpower the other flavors of the dish. And yes, he loves roasted pumpkin seeds.

Venom/Eddie

The amount of season chocolate that y'all three go through is insane. You have to buy multiple big bags of chocolate to satisfy their ( and partially your) cravings. Venom will probably tease you about decorating and he say something about "humans are weird." Now if you are decorating for Halloween, Venom will definitely take interest.

Venom makes you and Eddie get the more gruesome Halloween decorations and you have to ignore the look of people when their eyes widen at the decorations you set up. Whatever, at least your house is decorated for Halloween/Fall.

If you bake any goods, they will be gone insanely quick if they have chocolate in them. If you want to have some, you have to get it as soon as it is done. No, not when it cools off, as soon as it is done. You learned your lesson because last time you left it on the counter to cool, you came back 15 minutes later to find 75 percent of it gone.

EXHAUSTION

Summary : Carter takes care of you after you pass out from exhaustion with help from Doug, Mark and Peter

REQUESTS ARE OPEN ( read the rules first)

You have been working for four days straight. Your mind and body are extremely exhausted. The words that are on the chart you write are almost blurred. As your pen glides across the chart, filling in the blanks, you feel a huge yawn coming. You place the chart on the counter and bring your hand, pen still in your grasp, up to cover your mouth. Efforts to stifle that yawn were completely useless. If anything, it has only made you feel more tired. You were so worn out that you didn't even notice that Carter was nearby. As you tried to focus on catching up on your charts, you had a slight dizzy spell. A fog seemed to come over your brain as you willed your head to stop spinning. You swayed ever so slightly and took a deep breath, but that was enough for Carter to notice that something was off. He hesitated at first, wanting to give you some space but concern made him speak to you.

“Hey, you alright?”

Carter instantly knew that your reaction time was delayed. Before you even replied to him, he spoke again, this time the concern seemed to radiate off his body. You put your pen and chart on the counter in front of you, hand lingering on the surface just in case your dizziness appeared again.

“When was the last time you ate or slept?”

Your brain seemed to kick back into gear enough for you to actually respond to him.

“Um, Tuesday?” Your voice was trailed off slightly at the end and you watched as Carter’s eyes widened slightly at your answer.

Today was Saturday. That means that you have not slept or ate much in four days. Carter felt a pang of guilt hit him as he missed the signs. Even though you did not sleep or eat much in the past four days, you had time to take a quick shower and change into a pair of clean clothes during those days. You notice that Carter seems to be closer than you remembered last time. His eyes scan you slightly and then he speaks again.

“Are you feeling dizzy right now?”

“ I’m.. not sure.” You answered but your body and mind seemed to know the answer to Carter’s question.

You suddenly felt ten times dizzier. Once your eyes glazed over and you started to sway on your feet, Carter jumped into action. You let a soft breath as Carter gently but firmly wraps his left arm around your waist. When he speaks to you again, he makes sure that his voice is low and soft.

“ Hey, Y/N. Look at me okay? I need you to answer just one question for me. How many of me do you see?” Carter asks, making sure that you were making somewhat direct eye contact. “Easy, I’ve got you.”

It took you a few moments but your vision was definitely doubled. “Um, like 3."

You vaguely registered that he still had his arm around your waist. You wanted to tell Carter that you were completely fine. However, black spots started to invade your line of sight. Your eyes fluttered shut as your mind and body gave into unconsciousness. Carter immediately picked you up in his arms. One arm was under your knees while the other was under your back. Your head fell against his shoulder, your cheek slightly squished, as he adjusted his hold on you. Your right was resting in your lap, while your left one, dangled limply, bumping against his hand slightly with each step.

“I need some help over here.” Carter called out. His call for help captured the attention of Mark, Peter, and Doug who were nearby. “Jerry, what’s open?”

Jerry’s eyes widened a bit when he saw the state that you were in.

“Curtain Area One.”

Mark, Doug, and Peter meet Carter halfway there with a gurney. Carter carefully and slowly lowered you onto the gurney. He followed the gurney as you were wheeled into curtain area one.

“Okay, what happened?” Peter turned to Carter before asking.

“They have been working for four days straight. They got dizzy and ended up fainting. Don’t worry, I caught them and made sure they didn’t hit their head.”

Everyone breathes a collective sigh of relief.

“Okay,” Mark says and he hooks you up to the proper monitors. “Y/N? Can you hear me?”

No response.

“They are still out. So, let’s go ahead and start them on a liter of saline for now.” Mark replied.

Carter stood at the head of the gurney and fought the urge to stroke your hand. Deep in his mind, Carter knew that he wanted to somehow be able to comfort you, even if you were unconscious.

You woke up with an empty stomach and a killer headache. Your eyes felt as if they weighed a thousand tons so it was difficult to keep them open. You felt something pull ever so slightly in your arm. It took you a few moments to realize that you had an IV in your arm. The fog that had settled over every fiber of your being was slowly but surely going away. Still, your eyes narrowed in confusion. You were still in your scrubs.

“Oh, what the hell…” You mumbled your voice slightly slurred from waking up from your involuntary and extended nap.

Your comment caused Carter to both sigh in relief and chuckle at the same time.

“You passed out.” Doug had explained. “How are you feeling?”

“Better, not as dizzy anymore.” You replied before you realized what you were doing before you fainted. “Wasn’t I- Can I have my chart back? Hold on, I mean my patient’s chart, back?”

You sat up and was elated to find that the vertigo had completely vanished.

“No.” Peter says as he approaches the three of you. He was coming to check on you and overheard your question. “Mark is on the way with food. You are eating and you are taking a break. I’m serious, Maddie.”

You could tell that Carter was still concerned about you, as was everyone else.

“You didn’t move a muscle for nearly four hours.”

When Carter confessed that, your eyes widened. You never knew four hours could just fly by like that. It was like you blinked and all of a sudden you were in a hospital bed, with an IV in your arm. You huffed in annoyance.

“Oh, well that’s just wonderful.” Your voice was laced with a mixture of annoyance, embarrassment, and sarcasm. “Could you at least take this IV out of my arm. It’s nearly out anyway.”

Peter, Carter and Doug exchanged glances before they all nodded.

You feel a slight sting as they take out your IV. Mark enters the room with food. You recognize by the label on the bag that he got food from your current favorite restaurant. Your eyes narrow in confusion.

“How did you know that was my favorite place?” You asked while rubbing the gauze that was tapped to your arm.

“I told him.” Carter confessed at Mark handed the bad of food to him

The aroma of the food had started to leak into the air and you couldn’t help but take in the amazing smell of the hot food.

Carter placed the bag of food in your laptop. You also noticed that Carter had been hovering over you. You realized that he was afraid that you were going to pass out again and he wanted to be close to you just in case. He wanted to make sure that he was close enough to catch you. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment as you started to realize just how close you and Carter actually were
