Hi! I just have a little comment on your use of sign language in the carol side fic. I in no means mean to be rude! I’m not a professional! But I do use asl commonly, and I would like to say that the grammar structure is different, especially in newer users (like me!). So when Donnie asks Carol to make his hair like hers and April, it would probably end more like “can, have, hair, like, April, and, you?” Like I said, I’m not a professional! But it is something I noticed.

This is absolutely correct! Thank you! When I was learning ASL in college, my professor (who was Deaf,) would describe it as "caveman-style grammar" to us to help try to get a grasp of ASL sentence structure, as sort of a 'cheat-code' way of thinking about it when we were first learning.

I went back and forth about it, but I ended up deciding not to do a direct translation of ASL grammar in my work. I don't think there's anything wrong with writing it that way, and I think there can be a lot of merit to it, but it just feels a bit odd to me? When translating Spanish to English, for example, we typically wouldn't say, "the cat white," even though that would be the direct translation from, for example, "el gato blanco." We would expect the grammar to be a part of the translation process-- the white cat in English. Obviously, there's a difference between a spoken language and sign language, but it's always sort of felt a bit strange to me, to treat ASL differently from other languages, and only 'translate' it halfway, I guess? (Especially given that a huge part of ASL is facial expression, so you risk leaving a lot of details or nuance behind if you choose to use ASL sentence structure but don't consider user expression in your writing as well.)

Perhaps that's just me being lazy and not wanting to restructure things in my fic, lol. But while I think there are definitely pros and cons to either method and that both are valid options, a complete translation is what I went for in TMWN-- similar to how subtitles are done when a character signs in a movie or a TV show. I want the characters' signed dialogue to read smoothly and retain their voice and personality. I want it to flow the same way it does when they speak in English or in Japanese. Signing is totally natural to these characters! I don't want the reader to slow down to translate grammar, or to draw attention to the fact that it's 'different,' because for the characters it's a totally nbd-everyday thing, and that's not what I want the reader to focus on in this case.

That being said! I am not Deaf, nor fluent in ASL (my gOODNESS have I gotten rusty,,,) so! Take my opinion with a grain of salt and if I'm, like, totally out of line, I'm open to hearing about it, lol. I hope this makes sense? Sorry I went off so hard and wrote so much lmao I just spent a lot of time thinking about it and going back and forth when I first started writing the fic.

So you know how in the Frog Prince story, the prince got turned into a frog and the only way to break the spell is for the princess to give him an kiss of true love on the lip. So imagine that tiny Bowser, locked up in the cage, threw a tantrum and hurt his nose against the bar so Luigi decided to kiss his boo-boo on the tip of his nose just like how his mom kissed his boo-boo and…

BAM!

Bowser returned back to his normal size.

So I think part of the reason why it took me a while to answer this ask (besides irl personal stuff) is because while I do really like this idea, the main concern I have with this particular idea is that it conflicts with the movie’s idea that people can to return back to their normal size if they get hurt (whether someone else hurts them or they intentionally hurt themselves).

Now obviously, this is purely based on the assumption that this idea would take place in the same timeline as the movie (most likely after the events of the movie based on the context clue that a tiny Bowser is locked in a cage). You certainly don’t have to include the events of the movie in your idea/au and you can always make a completely new timeline where the events of the movie either just flat out don't exist (like the Yoshi's Island series for example) or change 1-2 details of the movie (i.e., Peach telling Mario that he returns back to normal size if he gets hurt) enough to where you can then include your ideas with the movie timeline.

But regardless of how you would incorporate this idea into the Super Mario universe, I do want to reiterate that I do really like the idea of a retelling of the Princess and the Frog featuring the one and only Bowuigi. I can definitely see this either go into a wholesome route where Bowser develops feelings for Luigi while he's a prisoner and officially becomes a good guy after he returns to normal size or more towards the angst(ish) route where Bowser immediately escapes and forcefully takes Luigi with him back to the Dark Lands after he returns to normal size (or you could even do a little bit of both).

But either way, Luigi kissing tiny Bowser's nose is 100% absolutely adorable and I thank you for the cute imagery anon. :)

A/N: There's just a severe lack of Lou Jitsu/Splinter in general and I couldn't agree more. This is a Lou Jitsu fan blog, I love Splinter! I got done with this, but something happened so it deleted everything :( I switched the order around for fun (who I think would get into a relationship first)

Raph

The first to receive this talk

Scared for life

Splinter really needs to learn how to properly educate

Especially since he gave him the human talk, not the turtle one

"When 2 people love each other very much..."

It seems Splinter doesn't know turtle biology very well

Because of this fact, Raph thought he was going to grow it and it would be painful (he's had growth spurts so why would this be different?)

He goes running to his s/o in a panic

So they have to have THE talk with him all over again

Just to assure him that all his parts are already there

Along with in depth research on turtle biology

Raph makes sure to let Splinter have the research as well so his brothers aren't traumatized like him

Leo

The second to hear this talk

Thank goodness Splinter at least skimmed through Raph's research

Still a little horrified

Splinter is not the best when it comes to this...

Splinter still didn't quite understand turtle anatomy

And he was just kind of brushing over all the information

Afterwards, he goes to his s/o for some actual research

At least now he knows why he taps his s/o's face...

Then to Raph

The two of them do research on Mikey and Donnie's species hoping they won't be as horrified as they are.

Mikey

Sweet summer child

Thankfully he's not as traumatized as Leo and Raph

But he never wants to hear Splinter talk about "cloacas" ever again

This time Splinter brought the research the other two gave him

So he could answer any of Mikey's questions

Or Mikey could find it himself

Mikey went to Leo and Raph afterwards and asked if that was it

Asking if it was as awkward for them

They told him that their talk was much more horifying.

Donnie

Let's be real.

He doesn't need the talk

He did his own research when the boys started going through mating seasons

But Splinter and his brothers weren't having it

"It's not fair that we had to go through that you don't"

So... They trapped him

There is nothing more horrifying than being caged up...

Listening to your dad give you the talk

And getting some of the facts wrong

But every time you try to correct him he just says,

"I'm Dad so I know better."

Remember how in the 1993 movie, Daisy was from Earth? Imagine if that's her backstory in 2023? Like, she and Peach were cousins the latter of whom got sent to the Mushroom Kingdom when they were kids.

Present day, Daisy is an archeologist and she meets Luigi like they did in the 93 film. The two also wind up finding the newly hatched Yoshi in the sewers they were in because reasons.

Oh I love this!

It would also be a great idea to have the sequel focus on Luigi this time. Like how Mario was the main character in the first movie and was travelling with Peach, so too can the sequel focus on Luigi - with him and Daisy solving the mystery of the Yoshi together.

I saw on your blog that despite still being human they stil have some form of mutagen in their system. And my question is how did they come in contact with the mutagen?

The TMNT bug is back~ ♡♡♡♡

I'm planning to update and post more about my human!AU and the origin and lore.

But here is the shorter version of the origin of their Mutagen contact.

‘Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi having a feud, driven by Saki and his jealousy for the things Yoshi had that he felt should be his own, is an old story.

Rivals in the clan, set against each other in the adoration of Tang Shen, who reciprocates that affection with Yoshi.

It was more scorn than the fragile ego of Oroku Saki could handle, and he set his mind to levelling the playing field.

If he couldn’t have what he saw as rightfully his, he would take it by force or leave it to no other.’

The rivalry of Yoshi and Oruku ultimately came to a head once Yoshi had discovered a substance at a forgotten shrine that could enhance the mind and soul.

Tang Shen studied what they had found at the shrine, finding traces of it in old folklore, and eventually created a substance not dissimilar to an enhancer or medicine. Mutagen.

Its properties are told in scripture and legends of superhuman strength and abilities, giving a person enhanced reaction and intelligence, as well as advanced healing and health.

With so much of their lives already on tender hooks, including their adoration for Tang Shen, the opposing views on this new and possibly life changing enhancement were the final straw.

Yoshi knew that Oroku would use it for the wrong reasons, for war and creating super soldiers to command and control, a dream he had often shared which deeply concerned him.

Where Yoshi wanted to help those in need and never take more than was needed, Oroku wanted to complete control, take before being taken, kill before being killed. Power over all.

Sharing his worries with Tang Shen, who had fallen and devoted herself solely to Yoshi, they both agreed to hide it and keep it away from Oroku . They both agree to run away together, taking the mutagen with them.

But, after learning of their plan, Oroku leads a small attack on the clan village, his madness growing and leads to the demise of Tang Shen, while she stays behind and tries to distract and keep him from Yoshi.

Her death instils his hatred for Yoshi, vowing to hunt him down and destroy him and create an army to finally claim what is rightfully his.

Yoshi went into hiding, fleeing his homeland and keeping the Mutagen hidden, locked away, unable to face the reminder of his loss. That was until he found his sons.

After a year of neglect and seeing his struggles to grow and recover, Yoshi gave a small dose of the mutagen to Raphael.

At the time, Raphael was the smallest and weakest of the boys. Yoshi hoped that it would help heal him, and later after gaining Michelangelo, gave it to each of his sons so they would all grow and share the strength equally.

This increased day by day with their training, Tang Shen's hope and legacy becoming living proof through the brothers, with Yoshi's determination and dedication teaching and guiding them into becoming highly skilled and honorable warriors.

Part of him also wanted them to grow strong, healthy and be able to defend themselves, should Oroku ever return and challenge them. they'd be ready.

That and so they couldn’t be taken from him as well.
