You ever feel like you have no choice but to reach out and talk to people, even when you feel unwanted by them?

Everything inside me screams not to message or call, but the fear of being forgotten about. That confirmation that I really do not matter, I do not cross your mind - that might send me into a whole different spiral.

That’s ultimately why I reach out, bc I crave so deeply to mean something to someone and I don’t want to leave room for them to show me how little I am thought about, loved or cared for.

The main details I'm figuring out right now are

does Celebrimbor still die at Eregion - I don't think he's getting captured/tortured, but he could still die in the battle. On the other hand, he could probably survive by using Narya & Lomion using Nenya, but that would definitely have repercussions further down the line

how does Idril's deal work - I'm currently thinking of Idril exchanging the location of Gondolin for her family's guaranteed safety, because it seems in character for Reverse Idril? But on the other hand, even if I limit it to immediate family at the time of the oath (tuor, turgon, earendil) then idk where turgon dies? Maybe Maglor can kill him but that seems kind of random

where and how does Turgon die

how does Prince Elrond's character even work

how does Numenor still fall when factoring in Prince Elrond - I'm thinking that the morgoth death cult gained enough traction during the time sauron was there that even after Elrond kicks him out, the cult still sticks around and reemerges later? The Fall still happens, but they never go to attack valinor and there's a good deal more Faithful (maybe 40-60%?)

Chayanne and Sunny’s relationship already means so much to me btw. He took a liking to them immediately and accepted them as family right away, and he’s shown that he cares about them even separated from whatever they are to Phil or Tallulah. Even separated from what she is from Tubbo!

Chayanne supports Tallulah and allows her space to be nervous, but he also has very clearly begun to do the same for Sunny. He loves Tubbo and in the case of things like Bagi and the hole, he was willing to hear Bagi out and inform Tubbo of her feelings but immediately sided with Tubbo upon hearing his thoughts, because that’s his godfather.

But he’s also not afraid to tell Tubbo off if he needs it, and he’s made it clear that Sunny is someone he’d defend even from Tubbo if it ever for some reason became necessary. He’s done that without villainizing either Sunny or Tubbo. And honestly, I think Tubbo would be touched to know someone is looking out for Sunny like that, even if Tubbo himself is ever on the other side of that.

Not that I currently expect that to happen for any major reason— Sunny has expressed her happiness with Tubbo both to Tubbo himself and to Chayanne. If anything, I’d expect Sunny to say that they’re worried about Tubbo doing something that hurts himself rather than worried about Tubbo doing anything to hurt them, though it of course shouldn’t have to be the place of either kid to be the ones to have to worry about that.

Currently Sunny kind of has the whole Death family grouped together in her mind as not liking her, and she’s been very focused on her relationship with Tallulah rather than with Chayanne because Tallulah is the one who’s been nervous. But it’s been really sweet to see the friendship between Chayanne and Sunny grow too. <3 I love them both so much. It’s also so nice to see how quickly Chayanne started considering them family, and I hope that Sunny gets to talk about Chayanne a little more soon. Regardless of their nervousness around Phil’s family, they seem to get along with Chay really well!

Sorry this is a dumb question but can you explain why tomshiv is not abusive? Shiv seems to hit a lot of textbook behaviours of emotional abusers

thank you for your follow up clarifying this was in good faith bc i checked my inbox yesterday right after getting high and was like man come on. don't do this to me. but yeah i can talk about it, it's obviously something i have a fair amount of thoughts on

on a fundamental level, i take issue with the assertion that there are 'textbook behaviors of emotional abusers' in the first place. distilling abuse down to a set of behaviors is, imo, effectively meaningless and totally unproductive. it's not the behavior of an individual that defines abuse, it's a specific and intentionally cultivated imbalance of power and control within a relationship. victims of abuse can and do resort to survival mechanisms that could be considered in isolation as 'abusive behavior', the point is that you can't consider them in isolation. there's a gulf of difference between the same actions when they're coming from a person in a position of significant financial or physical or social power over someone else, or when they're coming from the person at a disadvantage.

i think viewing abuse as a set of behaviors also encourages you to treat interpersonal abuse as if it's discontinuous with systemic abuse, which is inaccurate and unproductive. a key part of succession's premise is that, because the family is literally the business, the familial abuse within the roy family is inextricable from the broader systems of capitalism, patriarchy, and the sexual violence and abuse endemic to them. with regards to how the show satirizes and critiques these systems, i think it's very telling that all of the characters are to some degree complicit and/or participants in abuse, but logan is the only one i'd say is unambiguously and intentionally presented as 'an abuser' (whose abuse is not an isolated product of him as a person, but integrated into/inseparable from the capitalist system which persists after his death). still, logan isn't reduced to a one-dimensional angry, abusive dad, he's given depth and complexity. his continued insistence that he loves his children isn't treated as something that's untrue, but that doesn't make it inherently good, and it certainly isn't incompatible with him abusing them.

circling back to tom and shiv. their relationship is unhealthy, it's not good for either of them to be married, shiv does fucking awful things to tom and tom does awful things right back, i'm not questioning any of that. but at my most cynical and bitchy, what it comes down to is quite simply: shiv doesn't have enough power over tom to be abusive, systemically or personally.

the thing is sometimes you see people say 'wow, if the genders were reversed people would say tom and shiv's relationship is unambiguously abusive!' which... hrm, but really the issue is that. the genders are the way they are, that's for a reason, and yes, that does make a significant difference in how we perceive their relationship and power dynamics. tom holds very real and present power over shiv as a man and as her husband, proposing to her when she was vulnerable in a way that placed huge pressure on her to accept and then trying to get her to have his baby so he can become patriarch. shiv's the heiress with the legitimacy of her family name and generational wealth but she is continuously, unavoidably subjected to gendered discrimination and violence. she's never allowed direct access to real power - she has to rely on the men around her, her husband or her brothers, and if they don't feel like humoring her she's shit out of luck.

this doesn't cancel out like a math equation, but it definitely makes things much more complicated than shiv being an Evil Bitch Wife to her Poor Pitiful Husband. when shiv finally does push tom too far, he immediately, successfully, goes over her head to her abusive father to fuck her over. maybe shiv wants to be her father in her relationships and exert the same kind of control he does. but she doesn't and she can't! she does not have that power! she cannot stop tom from kicking back and his hits are significant. as much as she might like to pretend otherwise, tom not only has always had the power to leave in a way shiv doesn't, he had and has the power to fuck her up badly, and he's used that power. that is simply not the power dynamic between abuser and victim to me.

i also have to say that abuse is not always going to be definitive black and white. in real life there are plenty of unambiguous situations but there are also plenty of complicated situations, and applying judgments to fiction is not always straightforward. i can't exactly call someone 'wrong' for personally being uncomfortable with tom and shiv's relationship or believing shiv is abusive, but i'm very skeptical of the viewpoint and the motivations or assumptions that are often contained within. if shiv is abusive, she definitely isn't uniquely so among the cast, so you had better be applying that label and any associated moral judgments equally across the board.

the one thing I always think of when I think back to dragon age is the dialogue you can have with zevran in dao that triggers when you decide to leave all mages to die a horrible death in the circle? the way that he completely starts questioning your authority, explaining to you that you are an atrocious person for doing this and thinking like this and especially that this is the one time trying to flirt with him backfires completely because he calls you a fucked-up manipulator for it? like i love that so much because he not once stands up for HIMSELF in dao, he's very passive to what happens to him, but in this moment he decides to throw away any dignity he has and BEGS for these people's lives - he doesn't know ANY of these people, but he is the only one who stands up for them out of all companions you can bring along (some do actually protest your choice a bit and you might lose some friendship points but NOTHING like the conversation with zevran)

anyway yeah he's my favorite character

People like Bill Jr. got all kinds of things wrong about Scully but probably none moreso than thinking it was tragic that Mulder was dragging her along on some descent into madness, when actually the real tragedy was how few of the people she loved ever realized it wasn't a descent.

(It couldn't be bc 1. it's not madness and 2. she was already there.)

The two legendary dragons, despite how long they've been alive and how much they've been through, have never been apart in any meaningful way. Zekrom!Ingo is not having a good time (neither is Reshiram!Emmet, but that's neither here nor there :) ) More on this under the cut!

Ingo stands at the edge of a cliff, facing away from the viewer and looking into an intense storm. Lightning strikes off in the distance, and harsh winds are ripping at his clothes. The second panel is a closeup profile view of his face. He is leaning into the wind, eyes shut, seeming to be either looking for something within himself or trying to lose himself in the storm. The third panel is a closeup of Melli's face, shadowed.

Melli comes up behind Ingo, and asks him, "Why are you chasing storms, Ingo?" Then, gaining momentum, he seems to yell louder above the storm, "you have a life, so live it. the time before now is long gone." Ingo, still facing away from Melli and staring out at the storm, says nothing for a beat, then without turning around, asks, "Do you think that I do not know that, Warden Melli?"

The next panel looks out over the stormswept mountain. Multiple lightning strikes are visible as Ingo says, "I am well aware that my tracks are without destination. But I cannot switch over to new tracks, lest I risk derailment."

The next panel switches back to showing Ingo and Melli. Ingo has turned around now to face Melli. He has placed a hand to his chest, teeth bared as he shouts, "I know that this could be my home station, if I let it." His eyes now have lightning branching off from them, and his teeth are sharper. Black scales are visible, creeping up his hand. Melli is braced against both the storm and Ingo's sudden anger.

In the final panel, Ingo has somewhat collapsed in on himself, and half turns away. His hands are now twisted into claws, with more obvious scaling, and his teeth are sharper. "But I cannot," he says quietly, visibly defeated. Melli seems less ready for a fight now, and has drawn back, possibly out of sympathy or fear (and maybe both). End id]

Ingo and Emmet are Zekrom and Reshiram!

the gods are real and they're autistic about trains

they can "shift" in and out of their draconic forms, and have several stages in between (human, partial, mid, etc) basically it's a sliding scale of traits! Here we can see Ingo's "partial" state, where he has fangs, claws, and scales but not much else

the two of them have never really been apart. Oh sure they've been on differing sides of the continent, and sometimes one of them will work a differing shift than the other, but not in any meaningful way

not til Ingo gets eebied :)

separated for the first time with no way to reunite, they find themselves completely unable to shift fully, only barely able to get to a partial form. For Ingo this is pretty convenient! Not as much to try and hide/explain away :) for Emmet this is terrifying

there's another side effect to them being apart, and it's that their roles...don't switch, but Emmet finds himself endlessly driven by the ideal to find his brother, while Ingo is constantly seeking the truth of who he was and what he left behind. We get to see a little bit of the conflict this causes within Ingo here!

they do eventually reunite and it's cool as hell, I'd love to draw it out someday

Have you ever felt tired of having to do something to communicate with people or else everyone will forget about you? I feel this almost every day.

For example:

I have to draw at least something and post it, or everyone will forget about my existence and nobody will care about me;

I have to finish this fanfic in one day, or everyone will forget about my existence and nobody will care about me;

I have to send someone an ask or a message, or everyone will forget about my existence and nobody will care about me;

I have to reblog/make some posts and write something funny, or everyone will forget about my existence and nobody will care about me;

I have to do something that says I'm active online, or, once again, everyone will forget about my existence and nobody will care about me.

I'm so tired of feeling this shit. Because of it I often forget to take care of myself and give myself a break, even from my favorite things, because I'm afraid to be alone and that feeling that I described earlier just gnaws at my brain. And quite often I feel jealous of those people who don't have to do anything to make people care about them, reach out to contact them, and worry when they're out of touch for a long time. Maybe I need a break, but unfortunately I've forgotten how to rest because I need to do something all the time.

I apologize if I ruined anyone's mood with this stupid post, because this shit had been building up inside me for a long time and I needed to spit it out with those words. I sincerely hope that your day is many times better than mine.

Ok i need you all's opinions for this since my friends are too soft and are way too morally correct and this is the second most unhinged website

i would've just given up and accepted defeat but the thing is that my sister loves mocking me for what i believe in and stuff so guess what she won't fucking let me boycott and dear mother isn't particularly smart so she lets her

I tried talking, screaming, causing a scene in public, breaking important things like furniture and sentimental stuff, openly talking about fantasizing about hurting others and my love for knives and poison- hell even threatening them and commiting sh but they do not give a fuck about me sadly-

SO ^^ i need even more extreme measures BUT BUT BUT~

Me is not sure if psychologically harassing my sister may be a bit far

I won't do the same to my mother because it isn't really fair to make someone suffer because of their lack of braincells so

Is it a bit too far or should i totally go for it? Xd
