You've been to countless parties since the half of the previous school year when your best friend Ricky became popular out of nowhere. You still don't know where that popularity came from, he's always been good looking, it's not like he had some kind of glow up.
Sometimes you think it's more of a curse than a blessing, with all the times you've been dragged to a party you were not invited to because Ricky, being the introvert he is, refuses to go anywhere without you and, consequently, getting dirty looks from everyone for tagging along and 'leeching' off of Ricky's popularity.
Even now, when people have more or less come to terms with the fact that you two are a package deal, you still despise parties, only appreciating a few things about them, like drinking for free and… nothing else, really.
It's not like Ricky enjoys them either, he'd rather stay home with you and watch some romance drama as you eventually fall asleep with your head on his shoulder. But it's not like he can reject every single invite thrown at him. So you two came to a compromise: one weekend at a party, one weekend at your house.
The boredom of awkwardly standing in a corner as you silently watch yet another drunk couple make out, careless of the countless other people surrounding them, soon gets to you, and you blurt out a question.
"Have you ever kissed someone?"
Ricky's calm expression falters for a second, his eyes widening. He just hopes the dimly lit room is hiding the blush creeping on his cheeks.
He's your best friend, how do you not know?
Well, Ricky is a private person and, even having known him for years, he barely talks about his romantic life, so you've never dared prying into it.
"Of course," he says, after composing himself "You?"
You shake your head, breaking eye contact with him. "And I don't think it's going to happen any time soon," you sigh. At this point, it's a hopeless mission.
Ricky is convinced if it wasn't for the loud music in the background, everyone would be able to hear the cogs turning in his brain as it processes this information.
His best friend – whom he has had a crush on since forever – has never kissed someone.
Ricky looks at you through the corner of his eye, wondering if he should take the chance and possibly change your relationship forever – for the better or the worse, he doesn't know.
To you, though, it just looks like he's side-eyeing you with his usual unreadable expression, and you think you fucked up. You assume he's judging you, because not only are you a complete, bitchless loser, but you brought the conversation up yourself.
"Forget it, I don't know why I said that, sorry, now you probably think I'm weird and…" you start rambling, and to Ricky, that's the cutest thing he has ever seen.
God, he's really that down bad.
Suddenly, an idea pops up in his head.
"Can I kiss you?"
The abrupt question leaves you speechless, your words dying in your mouth as you look at him like he has grown a second head.
"What?" It sounds dumb once you say it, but you genuinely think you misheard him. There's no way Ricky, of all people, would ask you something like that.
Ricky smiles, "I said," he turns with his shoulder leaning on the wall so he can look at you directly "Can I kiss you?"
You blink at him, dumbfounded "Wha- what? Did you… what? Did you actually say that? Am I hearing this right?"
Ricky nods, clearly amused by your reaction
"If this is a joke, it's not funny, like, at all."
"Why would I be joking?" Ricky's expression goes back to deadpan serious, he inches closer to your face "So? Is this a yes?"
You nod slowly, still trying to process what's happening. You shouldn't want this, you shouldn't be so tempted to kiss your best friend. But you are.
Before you can overthink it any further, Ricky closes the space between you two. He's hesitant at first, his lips barely brushing against yours, but when you clumsily try to reciprocate the kiss, he takes the lead.
It doesn't feel special, or magic, or like anything else people have described their first kiss as. It's just two best friends who realized their feelings for each other. And to you, that's perfect.
"So… now what?"
"How about we get out of here and go on a date?" You sigh, shaking your head, "Ricky, it's…" you check your phone "1 AM, where would we even go?"
He seems to genuinely think about it for a solid one or two minutes "McDonald's?"

Whose the Ghoul
and why is it totally not Grimal?
I know this is a lesbian necromancers side blog so I'm gonna tag this accordingly so my followers can filter
Now everyone and their mother has a theory about who the ghoul is and has given their two cents- but I 100% think it's Giles at this point based on the info we have- BUT I don't think he's the one who attacked Occam. I think that was Grimal for her own personal reasons, and Spit is a red herring.
I'll admit my speculations about why she would attack Occam are a bit hand wavy, but I think paired with her means of accessing the archives while he was performing the ritual makes a case worthy of consideration.
For the how- because of the scene where everyone presents their licence we also know the exact level of access everyone has to which areas of the chapter house. As a neophyte Grimal does not have access to the archive or the security room, so how does she end up there on the map? There are several different ways she could have ended up in there.
So, almost immediately after Occam is sealed in the archive Elise cops Giles' shit. Wallet, keys and smokes all in one go. Queen. As a gard, he would have had acess to the security room, and now Elise does since she jacked his whole deal, coldly. So, either grimal got the keys from Elise, sneakily or not, that's one way should could have gotten in. Or Elise did her girl a solid and just let her in.
However, she could have gotten in without Elise's pilfered keys at all. When Kitten talks to Matilda and Amanda, Matilda offers to let him into the security room, and we immediately see that she's smoking the cigs Elise stole from Giles. Grimal could have gotten the smokes from Elise and then traded them for security room acess, just like Matilda offered to Kitten.
And once in the security room.....what? We know from Matilda it's one of the most ventilated rooms, and we know there's a vent in the archive thanks to a bg shot when they go in to draw blood. Given Grimal is one of two people conceivably small enough to pull of snaking through the ducts (the other is Spit, but I'll come back to the later.) It's not that far of a stretch to say she could reach the archives through the ducts.
OK, but fucking why would she do that, especially if she isn't the ghoul?
When she and Kitten argued on the stairs she said she was envious of how Kitten and the others operated without oversight. How stiffled she felt in her research. Neophites have even less acess to parts of the chapter house than maintenance, which for Grimal has got to sting while watching the chucklefucks make big moves on their own. It could be speculated that after seeing something relevant to her research in the archives, something she knows she'd never get permission to interact with, she decided to break into the archive, deal Occam an incapacitating blow from behind while he was performing the ritual to make sure she wasn't identified, and split. The non-lethal blow is also another reason I don't think it was the ghoul that broke in and attacked Occam. Given the level of violence done to Lord Fatigue later on, a much less intimidating target than Occam, I don't think a ghoul would have passed up the chance to take him out.
Speaking of Fatigue, why kill him at all? The only motive I can think of is to steal his archive key. And if the ghoul had attacked Occam, why would they need archive acess a second time? The could have gotten it off Occam's unconscious body, and why go for Fatigue is particular? Of the 4 people with archive acess. He's the least intimidating target, especially to a doped up ghoul. I might be over speculating on this but that point in particular leads me to believe that this ghoul is someone deeply insecure in their abilities as a combatant, which for me rules out all of the competent fighters, including Grimal.
Wow, a whole mountain of speculation on who I think it isnt- so why do I believe it's Giles?
My theory hinges on a peice of information casually dropped by Kevin during his interrogation about his sire. The way he describes the dynamic between his sire and her own sire is very similar to the one displayed by the 99p store manager and the woman she speaks to on the phone. Not to mention when she mentions that D called himself Kevin she calls it a coincidence. It's super strongly implied that She's Kevin's sire and the woman she's speaking with is the high-ranking Tremere in Yarmoth that Kevin described.
And She's managing a 99p store! That Giles works at!
If that's the case it's a direct connection between Giles and the Tremere, and it would explain how Kevin knew of the mole in the chapter house.
If it is him it would make sense why he wouldn't have been able to attack Occam, and why he would have needed to go after Fatigue for his archive key. If Occam's attacker had gone through the vents then it just couldn't have been him. He's not only too big to get through them, but he'd lost his keys to the security room with vent access before the attack. He'd need to go after another one of the elders to get it.
OK yeah Spit is also a security guard who is skinny enough to get in the vents and has been tweaking out basically the whole ep and he was the one in the room when Fatigue was murdered (unless his body just did that, but what are the odds?) , but I don't think it's him just because the evidence for others is so much stronger. Giles has the direct connection to the clan that placed the mole, and Grimal was placed at the security room. I personally buy more into the werewolf theory for Spit that I've seen others toss around.
Anyways it's 100% Giles.

so here are some thoughts about DMD Friendship the Reality while we are nearing the end
yeah yeah its not that deep but actually no one caring/talking about a show makes me want to write a LONG ASS POST bc i cant get gratification from going through the tags and reading opinions lmaoooooo so HERE damn okkk i will make the content i want to see in the world i guess dont mind me......😞
im not even the biggest Domundi fan but i was intrigued by the premise of this show. i mean it's a basically fake dating show (like one of their challenge rewards was getting to sleep in a suite together as if they are there to date for real) and the end prize isnt just an acting opportunity as it comes w the big decision of choosing a looooooong time acting partner. so i wanted to see how they would do it. BOC did a similar thing w The Hidden Character which i dropped halfway in bc it was too long and i found the challenges to be irrelevant to the ending goal. this show is the opposite of that and thats why ive been enjoying it.
it is edited to be concise (only 5 eps) and honestly, is quite tranquil. all the challenges were about things they will be required to do in the future as DMD actors/idols and stakes aren't even that high. You could always guess who would win before they even started (((like of course broody model guys won the photoshoot challenge and guy w two series under his belt won the acting one, DUH))) but it was still enjoyable to watch. show's goal isn't to generate tension and competitiveness. it is more of a workshop/chemistry building camp and also a way to introduce the new generation and get the fans warm up/attached to them.
as i spent time in bl fandom sphere, i've come to realize introducing a new gen is tricky. i thought everyone would be ecstatic to see new blood and a lil bit of mix and match but BL fans are reaaaaaaaaaaally attached to their faves and generally see newcomers as threats who will take opportunities from their already neglected (!) precious babies (e.g. just couple weeks ago FortPeat fans were protesting the new lesbian side couple in the upcoming show for stealing screen time from their faves, which is a joke in itself). this kind of show is genius way to get people to warm up to idea of new faces. at the end of the the day, these fans' weakness is two beautiful boys indulging in sweet moments they can be delulu over and considering how ships were already born from the first episode, DMD FTR succeeded in their goal.
LETS TALK ABOUT THE BOYS :-) *this starts playing*
I had to make this during first ep bc they are all dark haired boys w similar builds so I kept confusing them lmaoooooo (Tle not pictured as he joined later)
i will firstly talk about the fan favorite possible "couples";
KengNamping, the quiet visual couple and yes I love em!!!! they were kinda the only "conflict" in this very conflict free competition.
is Keng the CALMEST person I've ever seen? Latte is laid back too but Keng is just seems zen. sometimes (in the face of conflict) he just seemed hard to read but mostly he has such a calming presence. honestly, he should open an ASMR channel if this acting gig doesn't work out.
Namping also comes off very warm and graceful. him being "wow I'm finally in the winner suite" to Keng after finally getting chosen in ep4 made me laugh like DAMN he really was offended by what happened in ep1 and kept letting it slip. Idc, you are so right my prince and don't ever let Keng forget what he did to you...
when it comes to the possibility of them as a couple: i am kinda here for it while also not knowing if i actually believe in their "moments" in the show? Namping definitely set his sights on him from the beginning but Keng seemed nonchalant about it. Keng finally choosing Namping after his win, their sweet moment on the bed etc. seemed to me like classic reality show moment prompted by production to fit a certain narrative WHILE ThomasKong's pseudo-date-night chats seemed very real and spontaneous.
they do visually have chemistry, i'm not gonna act like i wasn't blushing when Keng trying to flirt during dinner or Namping softly touching a sleepy Keng's chin in the bed etc. Or even in ep2, when Namping tries to confront Keng about his pick but they are too timid and just unable to talk about it openly!!! arrghhh it's a hard to watch moment but still, made them more intriguing because they had such a tension between them. it would be a shame if it wasn't explored more. that tension can be channeled into an angsty series, just saying...
So, they def have a long way to go in their bond and arent comfortable like LatteFirst or ThomasKong but still, they are a strong contender and I would be glad to see them as a couple in a show. Namping already got my attention in the acting challenge and wonders can be achieved w a lil bit of workshop. they got the juice already!!!
Now, lets talk about ThomasKong.............
me watching Thomas relentlessly chatting Kong up since THE FIRST EPISODE
so I knew LatteFirst are set be a side couple in upcoming Love Upon a Time but i was confused to see why everyone on Twitter was already going cuckoo over these two random boys until i saw them interacting... Wow, like Thomas really came here w one mission: get Kong and leave.
because Thomas is such a flirt like DAMNNN😳😳😳😳he needs to be jailed for carrying lethal amounts of charm... IT MUST BE SAID: I love his fits w those thin glasses, he should've been wearing those in those office BLs he was in because he has been serving "office siren". Tiktok girlies eat your heart out.
while Kong isn't the best at acting or singing (he is the best KengNamping shipper tho and i LOVE a fudanshi BL actor), he definitely would win Mr. Congeniality if they were giving that title. he naturally and effortlessly has great on screen charisma. he is a certified cutie and the only one who can get real full belly laughs from Thomas!!!
i think what they managed in the acting challenge is the testament to their palpable chemistry. acting wise they weren't perfect (naturally, their uneven acting experience levels were apparent) but they were the only one who managed to tonal shift in their scenes. it's because they were the only ones who played into the romantic subtext of the scene. they also held eye contact for the longest (because they are comfortable w each other and not shy!!!), which elevated their chemistry and made me AND the judges giggle and roll our hair and kick our feet and shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are obviously the most likely to win the show and they deserve it too. no matter the result of the show, i want see them carrying a series as mains because they can and should. i also believe DMD won't fumble their bag, so i am not worried about it.
to conclude, I will quote Zee,
then we come to LatteFirst, the kinda established couple: in the ep5 preview, we see First trying to choose between Latte and the newcomer Tle, which seemed random to me and could be a production touch to create conflict in this very smooth sailing show.
i loved seeing Latte being nonchalant about the possibility of First choosing someone else, what a laid back guy. like Mio in THC, every BL reality show needs a half asleep and occasionally funny dude.
now i am thinking; what if First chose Tle, would he also replace Latte in LUAT bc DMD doesn't really fuck w mixing matching their couples. i honestly don't know where did all that come from but i feel like the result wont be too shocking, First and Latte are already really close and comfortable and got The Chemistry. need i remind of Latte punching the air a la Judd Nelson at the end of The Breakfast Club when it was announced they both chose each other for the dinner date? and their sweet and comfortable banter on that said date??? let's put our pens to work and write a friends to lovers rom-com for the boys based on that material please...
i dont think they are likely to win but might be strong contender. i just want to see them as a side couple in LUAT (hopefully this year!!!!) so they can develop themselves and their bond a little bit more before getting to a main couple level. their sweet friendship shouldn't go to waste!!! (is it obvious i am more drawn to BL couples who are besties in real life?)
damn this post is about to be a novella so i will make it short about Gems, TeeTee and Tle, i hope Gems won't be too upset about getting slighted again 😥 like i said, stakes aren't high on this show and results are always obvious: these guys are going back home empty handed, we all know it. they are all charismatic and VERYYY talented but i just felt like none of them really focused on "getting a partner" part of the show, not just the main challenges. even TeeTee who was picked by Thomas and Keng seemed kinda uninterested about partnering up. but you cant really force chemistry and i am sure they will get many more opportunities in the future. they already started their fanbase!!! i cant stand to see Gems so upset, i hope he wont be too sad.
these are my opinions. maybe the ending will do a whole 180 and idk, GemsKeng or TleKong or some other random couple will win, who knows???? cant wait to watch the new overly airbrush filtered, Cheewin directed DMD show up to like 5 episodes and then get bored and drop it and follow the rest from gifs!!! good luck to the boys <3

oh nooooo is poor baby upset that something they like is inherently queer in nature 🥺🥺🍼🍼
Notice how I'm really just discussing the themes presented to us by the anime and yet they're acting like im screaming in their face. They don't do this to other people discussing other aspects of the series in the comments, only to me, because I was discussing a topic they didn't want associated with the series. "Wokism knows no bounds" and "calm down" as if i was acting deranged instead of doing what everyone else is and adding my own thoughts about the series like everyone else is doing. Classic "paint the queer as crazy so people wont listen to them" tactics..
I've mostly been talking about heavenly delusion in the context of it being excluded by other queer fans but there are tons of queerphobes who has and will try to push back against this series being queer as well because let's face it. It's an amazing series. It has a great plot, great characters, great animation, great soundtrack and most importantly, it doesn't have that oh so helpful "genderbender" or "yaoi" tag that would help them differentiate the "normal" media from the corner that all queer media is pished into, so of *course* the bigots will try to insist that it's not queer. Because they can't love something that's queer, so they need to make it cishet.
Even people who may say they're not queerphobe or has 'shown their support for the yaoi and yuri genres and the fujoshis and fudanshi will most likely not address the queerness in this whatsoever and dismiss it with wordings like "it's really more of a bodyswap" or "i support the lgbt+ but this doesn't really fit into that" or "not everything is queer and this isnt even really queer" or "it would be a disservice/offensive to tbe lgbt+ community if i were to call this queer" etc...etc...because why?
Because they like it. And because it doesn't stay in the nice little corner labeled "uhh woke gay stuff" where they push anything queer into and pretends to uplift it but they only uplift it because it's in that little convenient corner away from all the "normal good" stuff.
Do not and I mean DO NOT let them do this. This is not just a one off lesbian kiss that never comes back, it does. Kiruko's transplant into a girl's body is not just for fanservice or romance shenanigans, it is written into the plot. Maru does not rescind his confession after learning that Kiruko is a boy, in fact, he outright states he's still in love with him. Maru also immediately asks if he should stop referring to him as "Sis", to which Kiruko says he can still use. There will be blatant and direct intersex characters. It's not just a one-off thing that happens, no, the queerness is literally BAKED into this. It may not be the main focus like other queer series such as shimanami tasogare or my lesbian experience or miyano and sasaki but it is still there and unrefutable.
Don't let the queerphobes take a series that is inherently queer in nature and overshadow that queerness with their cisheteronormativity.
The fact of the matter is that kiruko is set to be the main romantic interest of Maru, a boy, and there is just no way to frame that in a way that it is both cis and hetero, which, in turn, makes it QUEER.
"Queer enough" is not just in issue with truscum but its also something queerphobes will try to use to reject queer media.
Don't let them take this from us. We already don't have much as it is and what we do have all end up being removed from the general audience and pushed into that little "queer corner".

the fact that there needs to be a post going around saying not to do this sorta stuff is baffling to me. like, i understand if there are younger fans doing this kinda stuff and thinking its okay bc they obviously don’t understand the Reality behind these sorts of actions. but i know for Damn Certain that a majority of the people who contributed to that petition are well on their way to adulthood.
we need to set a good example for future fans and fandoms to Not do shit like this because its creepy and its weird and it is uncomfortable for both the content creators and the fanbase as a whole. nothing comes from you asking your favorite creators to acknowledge your ships other than uncomfortable, stilted non-answers because it is such an odd thing to talk about. you shouldn’t dm/email/tweet at your favorite creators about ships, you shouldnt go to conventions to ask them questions about your ships, and you especially shouldnt make a petition to make your ship canon.
moving away from the fact that its Uncomfortable as hell for the content creator, it’s also pretty rude! imagine if you spent all your time and hardwork on a piece of art, only for someone to walk over and be like “okay but what if This was in it???” that is essentially what you’re doing when you pull stunts like this. if a creator wants that sort of thing in their narrative, they’ll put it in. if not, then that’s what the fandom space is For. fandoms were created for fans to produce content for things they found interesting about their favorite content.
sure, it’s cool when content creators interact with fan creators (like when they retweet a work of fanart or stuff like that), but that doesn’t mean they are a part of the fandom. and i know content creators have even gone undercover in fandoms before and been a part of them that way, but that still does not excuse making a petition to make your ship canon!
please, just have respect for your content creators and the narratives they create, and don’t try and insert your own opinion in the creepiest, most uncomfortable way possible.

Ok, let’s looks at this stupid fucking bill.
So you can’t talk about sexual orientation with kindergarten-3rd graders. This would include all orientations. So you can’t mention husbands or wives or that someone is married. And you can’t read books or fairytales where the prince marries the princess, because that has sexual orientation in it.
But conservatives are of course intending this to ONLY be applicable to gay/bi/lesbian/etc types of sexual orientations because they consider being straight the “default”. It is purposefully vague in an attempt to keep the “other sexual orientations” out of school.
And a teacher couldn’t mention her wife. And a student couldn’t mention their two dads, because they could fall into “third party” BECAUSE “THIRD PARTY” ISNT DEFINED.

“May not adopt procedure or student support forms that prohibit school district personnel from notifying a parent about his or her student’s mental, emotional, physical, or well being” again this is very vague. It COULD mean ‘hey schools need to tell parents if a student has a cold’
It could ALSO mean “if a student tells a teacher they’re gay, the teacher must inform the parents because it affects their mental health and well being”
But don’t worry! If the parents are abusing the student you don’t have to tell them. Only…abuse isn’t defined either. And why would that be included if the intent was to keep parents informed about if their child is sick or not? Because it’s meant for it a child comes out as gay/trans/bi.
Going back to the lack of definition on abuse. Conversion therapy might not be considered abuse. Verbally berating and shaming your child would likely not be considered abuse. Telling your child “being gay is a sin” wouldn’t be considered abuse.
This bill is so vague on purpose. It’s giving parents the opportunity to come after schools and teachers for not outing students. And for anything that they consider “developmentally inappropriate”
Complete side note: if you’re jumping down people’s throats because you think they didn’t read the bill, fucking don’t. These aren’t reader friendly (ESPECIALLY THIS ONE). If someone read an article and was like “hey that’s messed up” and posted about it, that’s perfectly fine? Check your sources and all that, but just because someone hasn’t picked something apart doesn’t make them a fool.

-clockwork is back!!! and making danny learn lessons The Hard Way. Uhhh, okay. I kind of get Danny’s logic, that time traveling this far back would prevent vlad from becoming a halfa also, ergo no arch nemesis or ectoacne to worry about. okay I need your klance fic recs(i feel like you have really good taste)(i mean your icon is literally THE keith of course you have god tier taste)
okay so the thing is.. that when i say am kinda messed up and disgusting sometimes... and becoming a madwoman... am not over exaggerating or saying it in a funky way.. i actually am getting like that .. and that's how i got into the klance fandom initially. i project through lance and read really langsty fics.. and they are messed messed with like violent nsfw, gore, horror, serious mental health issues etc? so if u want those... i'll only send them if u want?
yeah tho i entered with this thingy that klance is gonna be like my guilty pleasure or some shit but them i inevitably fell in love with some GORGEOUS fanfictions out there and KEITH KOGANE in all shapes sizes genders and ages so lol...
but they aren't flowery. that's just not my taste. Some of them might be "problematic"? it's in quotes because i don't agree with it. it's not going to be problematic in plain ignorant sense like racial issues or blatant sexism or mental abuse.... but they might have like stuff which people dont always agree with like drugs. most of them would have nsfw it's just something that i need to have for feels and that's why i asked if u minded it. some things are like more subjective,, characterizations for example, cause like some people dont think keith is a skirt guy cause he isnt in fashion but i think he is petty and rebellious so he will defo do that? some of them would have like physical fights and stuff.. or keith and lance being mean to each other.. some ugly habits which aren't necessarily condemned like anger or drugs.? but with how i see it, it's not glorified, so i see them as human. i love the raw and ugly in these or idk its just human to me (but some people dont like which is completely valid cause we are all different from different environments and think different and resonate with different stuff.)

alRIGHT we are going OFF under the cut about good parenting (and also aaron’s the best dad on the planet change my mind)
this is litcherally almost 1.5k words because not only are we inclusive and educational in this house, we are comprehensive and honest with our kids!
they start with consent and boundaries really early. its always “can you ask you sister if its okay to use her tablet” or “honey you're standing a little close to me and i need some space right now. can you step back?” or “i don't really want to do that right now, can we do something else?”
its easier to understand boundaries with the addition of isaac in their home environment. he needs and has very clear boundaries for his siblings and his parents, so its very clear cut from the get-go what is and isn’t okay without permission. mom and aaron are good about knocking on doors and waiting for their kids to invite them into their space, and they’re awesome about privacy and open conversations.
auntie emily has a girlfriend or two and spencer has a boyfriend, a non-binary partner, and a girlfriend over the course of the kids’ lives, which is a really neat segue into the lgbtq+ conversation. very simple -
“when you’re older, you might start feeling things for people, or you might not. there are different words for people who are attracted to different people, and those are called sexualities. for example, your aunt emily is a lesbian because she likes girls, and your uncle spencer has dated people of different genders, so he’s called bisexual.
“there are also different words for people who don’t really fit in to the ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ category. some people are a lot of one or the other, some people are a little bit of both, and others aren’t any at all.
“it’s really important to use these words respectfully, and only use them for someone if you have heard someone use them for themselves. this is a really private thing for most people, so we have to be respectful of people’s boundaries when we talk about the feelings we have for other people.
“if you ever want to talk to mom or me about feelings you’re having, we will be here for you to love you and accept you no matter what.”
(these kids are either gen z or whatever the fuck comes after them, so they’ll probably all be a little queer in one way or another, or at least explored a bit, lets be real)
they are very age-appropriate, as well. so there’s a conversation about how our bodies change when the kids are about nine or ten, and they have a lot of books for the kids to read in private, so they’re not so put on the spot.
mom and aaron do their best to tag team, but there are some things that are better to hear from your dad than your mom and vice versa.
this is also around the time the kids get the conversation about what is and isn't appropriate touching, peer pressure, and social norms (”sometimes, people will say that they’ve done something that you hadn’t thought of before or aren’t ready to do, and it might feel like everyone else has done it, too. however, you are you and you are not them. you are the only person who gets to tell you what to do, and never feel like you have to do anything for any reason.”)
jack, of course, is first, and is having these first conversations with aaron right around the time isaac is born.
when he gets further into middle school, he and aaron go for a walk and talk more specifically about consent and new feelings that might come up. idk about yall, but i knew way more than i should have in middle school and the internet has only gotten worse since then, so i’m sure jack has a vague idea of the mechanics. jack and mom also talk about values, like respect and compassion and empathy, and how those values link together with those feelings.
when they're older (late middle school, early high school), they get the conversation about stds and safety and risks and that stuff. (that’s another easy conversation with real-life examples because isaac, while very wanted, was somewhat unexpected, and so was their cousin henry.) everyone is really clear about all the ways to engage in these activities that won’t get anyone hurt, pregnant, infected, or all of the above. (all of course, with the understanding that “this is for your knowledge, not for you to just know how to go off and sow your wild oats. you’ll have plenty of time for that later, i promise.”)
the segue for isaac’s first on-topic talk comes due to a question about how jack has a different mom than the rest of them. there was a comment at school that made isaac feel a little weird (”well jack’s not your real brother. he doesn't count because he's your half-brother” - that kind of thing) so he asked mom and dad about it. he already knew that jack has a different mom, but he doesn't really know what that means.
aaron’s like “well, jack is made of different stuff because he didn’t come out of mom.”
“what kind of different stuff?”
(and of course mom thinks its hilarious and later says “you walked right into that one, honey.”)
so because isaac is isaac and loves to learn, aaron goes and grabs one of the books he got for jack, and he and mom walk through all the “stuff” that makes up a person and how it gets there. they’re a little more detailed with him than the other kids, because he really likes to know the science and mechanics of it (”dad, people are kind of like machines!” “yeah, bud, a little bit!”)
hes fascinated, of course, and he’s the easiest of the five. he also does really well with more abstract ideas of consent and boundaries as well.
when it’s the girls’ turn, they not only get the mechanics conversation (for both sex and owning a uterus) but the safety conversation. because consent was so drilled into all of them, the boys are like “aight got it, don’t be an asshole and always ask about everything all the time. cool.” but the girls are dealing with some different stuff on multiple fronts.
mom tells them about periods before they get them, so they’re not thinking they’re dying when their first period arrives. they actually help their friends a lot when they freak out, which is super sweet.
aaron reiterates this one to every kid, every time:
“there will be times where people, usually men, do not listen to you and do not respect your boundaries. i am giving you my permission to do whatever you have to do to get out of that situation. you can lie to that person, you can trick that person, and you can hurt that person if that’s the only way to get out of that situation. you can always call us and it doesn’t matter what time it is. we will never ever be mad at you. we love you unconditionally and we just want you to be safe.”
“sex, for some people, is about fun and getting some exercise in, or just another way to spend time with people. that’s okay, but just make sure you’re taking care of yourself and being safe. for other people, its a physical way to express your love to someone you really care about.”
(“oh, so that’s why there’s so many of us.” “soph don’t be rude.” “it’s true isnt it?”)
so its less of like The Talk and more of Yeah, We Can Talk About This Anytime, because mom and aaron do their best to normalize talking about this stuff so the kids won’t be embarrassed to come to them with stuff in the future.
jack usually goes to mom with more...specific questions. caro ends up going to dad more often than not, and soph and elliot split the parents pretty evenly. isaac usually goes to mom, too.
aaron’s favorite Jack Asks About Sex moment (relayed to him that night, in bed with mom) is as follows:
mom and jack are out on a walk, and jack’s like, 15ish. he just looks at her and is like “mom. hey, uh. what’s a blowjob?”
she tries not to laugh and succeeds, for the most part. in the spirit of honesty, and with the understanding of “you aren’t to do this until you are comfortable and ready and nobody else can tell you when that is,” she kind of loosely outlines oral sex and how to conduct it safely and responsibly.
“is it like...good? fun? like ugh, god, how do i put this...do you and dad...do people...nevermind.”
with a laugh - “jack. you really don’t want me to answer that. i will scar you for life if you push.”
“ugh. yikes. alright.”
aaron thought it was HYSTERICAL.
at the end of the day, they just want their kids to feel safe and loved. all five of them know that they were built and made with love, and know (within reason) that their parents love and enjoy each other.

what do i do if maybe some terf points start to make a little sense in my head? im a trans guy and i go through the terf tag alot just to make myself feel bad. which yeah is a bad habit but im working on it. anyways, ive seen them mention trans guys just being an afterthought sometimes? which i know isnt true, ive seen way more stuff about t and binding and top surgery than trans girl stuff.(1/2? maybe 3?)
but all the time i see stuff about trans girls being amazing and i dont think ive ever seen something similare about trans guys? and if someone adds "trans guys are cool too" they always seem to get told to make their own post or something like that. am i just being selfish? i just.. want that kind of support too. and i dont think ive ever seen it.(2/3. sorry if im cutting these weirdly normally my asks are short so idk how to send multiple and have them make sense)
terfs definitely wouldnt give me that kind of support theyd probably try to convince me to live as a butch lesbian or something which would suck but i just... i dont know what to think and im really confused and it would be helpful if you just told me what to think. sorry(3/3)
I’d say to follow more blogs that center around trans men. I personally haven’t experienced the lack of positivity towards trans men and I honestly just think that it has to do with the content you follow vs an actual issue. A blog I typically recommend to trans guys is @transbrotherhood. I also follow some blogs that just generally give positivity for men as trans men do come up in those too.
When it comes to general media like the news, I do see trans men as overlooked to the point the media forgets we exist but that’s not the fault of our movement or trans women, it’s just society focusing more on trans women as a whole because they get stamped with this “predatory” or “failed men” label. This may also be why you see a bit more positivity specifically towards trans women to counteract that.
It’s not selfish to want positivity but don’t blame the others who are receiving it. Instead of turning against another group for receiving more, a better response is thinking about how you can make a change yourself. Hell, start your own positivity blog for trans men if you really want to. I get where you’re coming from in a way, I’ve done the same thing under different circumstances before snapping myself out of it. But really, it doesn’t get you anywhere and if anything makes you feel like everyone else is against you.

I saw a post from terfs talking about an article about lesbian sex that included penises as part of it to be inclusive. They were obviously fuming at lesbian sex being redefined, but whilst I don't agree with their anger I can kind of see their point a bit... what about it is lesbian if any gender can have any genitals (which I do believe they can btw), I was wondering what you thought of that, like what should an article about lesbian sex talk about?
I think I know the post you are talking about actually.. Basically it was called something like "How to have lesbian sex" and it talked about two people with vaginas having sex, then went on to talk about a person with a vagina having sex with a person with a penis.
I read the post in the feminism tag or something and I was actually with them for most of it in fact I didnt even realise this was a terf thing until about half way through. They made the point that, there was no discussion of sex between two trans lesbians with penises, it focused on a cis woman having sex with a trans woman.
They did also make that point about why call it lesbian sex guide? If you're trying to be inclusive to transgender people then both of the combinations they did explore could be any gender, not specifically women. I could be wrong about this, but I feel like the article used mostly gender neutral pronouns and descriptors so there was effectively no indication that this was about women other than the title. Which does beg the question, why call it lesbian sex? Why not just call it a general sex guide and include different combinations of genitals?
There was another thing brought up in the post that there was no mention of how hormones or surgeries might impact on the sex. And like, I'm not saying trans lesbians cant have sex in a way that on paper might sound a lot like straight sex, but really physical transition does predominantly affect areas that are very relevant during sex, so what they are really talking about here is lesbians having sex with a man, or at least that seems to be what they are thinking whilst writing it.
The part where they lose me however, is in the conclusions we draw from this. Because they seem to think that this is just slipping in the idea that lesbians are having sex with men, intentionally and because they dislike lesbians. But all I'm seeing in this article, is the exact performative fake woke inclusivity that we see in absolutely every branch of social politics. This doesnt read like an article written by a man or a transwoman trying to convince them of the allure of penises. It comes across as though it was written by somebody who doesnt know anything more about trans lesbians than "Hmm I think were not supposed to say women have vaginas anymore so we should throw in something about penises too also pronouns are like, a whole thing, so lets avoid them". It feels similar to every other completely nonesense article ever been written where they are kind of trying to be inclusive but dont seem to have any clue about the people they are trying to include. I'm surprised they didnt throw an x somewhere in the word lesbian.
Is the answer here to just not include trans women when talking about lesbian sex? Well no, but if you're going to try to include them maybe do like, a bit of research into how transition affects sex. Also maybe consider trans women having sex with each other.
If you're not going to do anything of that, and you're not going to refer to the partner as a woman, at least be honest and just call it a sex guide. Theres nothing specifically lesbian about just a list of different ways people with different genitals have sex with each other.
In my opinion, it would be better to just call it "how cis lesbians have sex" and just talk about cis lesbians than to do this odd half assed inclusion thing. They just wrote about cis lesbian sex and then standard PIV sex, which, as was pointed out in the post, is the focus of most sex guides. Cis lesbians do exist and do have sex with each other, so talking about cis lesbians having sex isnt inherently a horrendous thing.
So in summation, yes the article was crap, but it wasnt a great conspiracy to erase women its performative BS.
