My thoughts on "white/ black" magick
When I first read about the term as a baby witch, I always prefered the "black". Even though it wasn't that long ago, back then most representation on social media where wiccans who strictly followed the rule of three. So I thought that's what a witch did, and I reluctantly followed it - even though in the back of my mind I had a hard time marrying this doctrine with the folkloric archetype that I looked up to...
Being a tumblr regular, I soon came to find out that the rule of three wasn't for everybody (yey!) and that the dicotomy of "black/ white" is just racist rhetoric (goddammit). So I stopped using those terms, switching to "light/ dark" instead, because - yeah, don't be racist folks'.
But alas, even my new terminology has racist undertones - or at least colourist. Which actually came as a surprise to me. See, where I come from, my immediate association with both "black/ white magick" and "light/ dark" has never been connected to skin colour, I've always thought of it as night and day. And in that I've really come to like the "light/ dark" terminology... Like, I don't see "dark" magick as bad/ evil/ neferious etc; I see it as a harder kind of magick to perform.
Imagine magick like walking through a forest. Doing it in the daylight, you can easily see where you walk. There aren't many predators lurking around, and you can just relaxe and breathe in the atmosphere. The same place in the dark however, can be really dangerous. If you aren't careful you could hurt yourself on something as silly as a root. In general, you wouldn't venture out in a dark forest unless you knew it really well in the light first - or was desperate.
Maybe I should change my terminology to "nightmagick" and "daymagick"... Although I'd imagine that would become a little confusing if I wanted to to a "nightspell" during the day or vice verse. Anyways; in my strictly personal view, wanting to have a "light" practise is completely respectible, but looking down on "dark" workers just tells me that you're really afraid of the dark... And what was that thing Terry Pratchett said about witches?

Yaiwabian Voodoo: White Magick
White Magick and Nzambi a Mpungu
Tumblr media
In the Yaiwabian tradition, White Magick is a form of spiritual practice that aligns with the higher vibrations of Nzambi a Mpungu, the supreme deity. It is a path of purity, healing, and protection, often invoked to preserve the sanctity of Divine Darkness—a realm of potentiality and the unknown that is as sacred as the light.
Countering Chaos Energy Chaos
Energy, characterized by its erratic and destructive nature, poses a threat to the equilibrium of the cosmos. Practitioners of White Magick use rituals, spells, and meditations to counteract this disruptive force. By channeling the serene and orderly energy of Nzambi a Mpungu, they create shields of light that repel the influence of Chaos.
Protecting Divine Darkness
Divine Darkness, contrary to common misconceptions, is not an absence of light but a primordial essence that complements it. White Magick rituals often involve the invocation of Nzambi a Mpungu’s wisdom to protect this sacred darkness from being tainted by Chaos Energy. This ensures that the mystery and beauty inherent in the unknown are preserved for seekers on their spiritual journey.
Equilibrium Between Light and Darkness
The Yaiwabian philosophy emphasizes the importance of balance. White Magick is not about the dominance of light over darkness but about harmony. Rituals are designed to honor both the illuminating power of light and the profound depth of darkness, recognizing that both are essential for the universe’s wholeness.
In conclusion, White Magick in the Yaiwabian Way is a spiritual tool for harmony and protection. It serves as a guardian of the unseen and a bastion against the unpredictable, all under the watchful eye of Nzambi a Mpungu. As we embrace these practices, we contribute to the cosmic balance, ensuring that light and darkness continue to dance in their eternal embrace.
-Lord Yaiwa, the Voodoo Prince
