Protection Candle to cast circles
Tumblr media
Picture from pixabay.com
I have been practicing witchcraft off and on for about 16 years, and in those 16 years I've discovered that I do not have the patience to cast a protective circle with elaborate chants and hand movements every time that I do a spell. So I developed this particular method, which works perfectly for me. And it might work for you as well!
What do we need?
A white candle
Pester and Mortar
Neutral oil (I use almond oil, but olive oil is okay too)
Rosemary (for cleansing and purification)
Lavender (for cleansing and purification)
Mugwort (for protection)
Bay leaf (for purification, protection and to set intention)
Thyme (for banishing)
The process
I like to cleanse my space first before doing any spell work. I light my previous candle if I have one, otherwise I cleanse with sound. For this, I use my bell and ring it thrice.
Add the Rosemary, Lavender, Mugwort and Thyme in your mortar. Grind until the herbs are small.
Take your bay leaf and write your intention down on it.
Add it to your mortar and grind until its small.
Anoint your candle with the oil.
Sprinkle your herb mixture on the candle until it's covered to your satisfaction.
Put the candle in a candle holder and light it whenever you want to do a spell. You can walk a circle with it or just let it burn on your altar. That's completely up to you, what you feel is best.
That is my very easy protection candle, which I use to cast circles with. I usually let it burn on my altar for the duration of my spell work and blow it out when I am done. While working on the candle, I also like to play some music. I make playlists with songs that give me the right vibe; Click here for my protection playlist!
I hope this works for you as it works for me, or inspires you to find your own easy way to protect your space! Blessed Be!

🌙Simple Everyday Things You Can Do For Protection
Source | https://www.instagram.com/mariathearcane/
What are some simple things that you do that you think would help another witch?
🌙My list of daily or easy practices requires little to no prep-work
•Use a protection plant ally like a witch's burr, cloves, thorns, motherwort, black pepper, garlic, or onion. Close your eyes and place your plant ally in your hands. Ask the spirit of the plant if they will offer you protection to see you through the day. Carry it with you.
•Alternatively, you can also use crystals. My go to combo is black tourmaline and red jasper!
•Use a protection archetype tarot card like the Nine of Wands. Nine of Wands, for myself, symbolizes boundaries and protection when it comes to our growth/life path. Place it on your altar with intention since it is a portal to our intentions, our guides, and the liminal, or carry on your person.
•Smoke cleanse the thresholds in your home, yourself, and your loved ones. I personally like rosemary and lavender for this purpose.
•As you leave an offering for your guides/ancestors/deities during your daily conversation with them ask them for their help when it comes to protection.
•Write the word protection or a symbol of protection on a black candle with intention and light.

The Blackthorn charm:
The Blackthorn tree or sloe is a shrub native to Europe and several other places in the East. This trees poisonous thorns can cause sepsis, making this thorny hedge a very powerful symbol of protection and setting of protective boundaries.
This potent charm is used to protect the inhabitants of a home from curses, intrusions of any sort, attacks, outside interference, and all general malicious intent.
How to make:
Begin by taking a good piece of white or red string and remember… knots are a symbol of protection.
While tying the thorns to the string, recite the following spoken charms:
By knot of one, this spells begun
By knot of two, it cometh true
By knot of three, so mote it be
By knot of four, this power i store
By knot of five, this spell comes to life
By knot of six, this power i fix
By knot of seven, malicious power i lessen
By knot of eight, i seal the thieves fate!
Finally, pass the charm through a hoodfire/hoodlamp. Then through the smoke of incense three times. Then simply hang it in a window or near your hearth.
Blessed be!

Protection Candle – Safe Travels
My mom is going on a trip across the globe (literally), so I wanted to put together a candle for her to help keep her safe while she's on her journey. Continue reading to recreate this spell at home.
You'll need:
A white candle
Protection herbs (Salt, garlic powder, marjoram, Lavender, Spearmint, black pepper)
Something to carve into the candle
Protective crystals (Kunzite, Moonstone, Clear Quartz, Red Jasper, Pyrite, Tigers Eye, Black Amethyst)
Oil (You can use whatever you have on hand)
A plate to stand it on
Here's what I did:
Connect with my ancestors, guides, and deities that you work with. When connecting with my team, I greet them, thank them for their presence, and ask that they guide me through the process. I have an ancestor candle that I light whenever I'm doing anything craft-related since so much of my magick is fueled by my communication and connection with the Otherside. You can light whatever candles or set whatever protection you need. (Whatever works best for you and feels naturally to you!)
Layout the crystals that you plan on pulling energy from and thank them for their presence in the evening's work as well.
Carve the name of the target into the candle and any petitions. I wrote my mother's name, her legal name, and key phrases like "safe travels", "return home safely", "protection", etc. horizontally across the candle.
Dress the candle in oil and herbs. I apply the oil to the candle in a sweeping motion away from me (instead of toward me) because I want the energy I'm putting into the candle to reach the target. (She's far away geographically, so I'm sending this protection out to her.) If this candle is specifically for you, pull the oil toward you and dress it that way instead.
To make the candle to stand upright on a metal tray or some fire-safe thing, melt the bottom of the candle and let the wax drip onto the plate. Then you can just stick the candle on top and the dried wax will help keep it sturdy. Continue to add herbs and crystals for extra protection. I put a ring of garlic powder, salt, and lavender around the candle and said some words to my ancestors and patron deities, but you can use any protective herbs that work for you.
Thank all spirits and deities present for the evening (or whatever time you’re performing the spell) and the herbs and crystals for lending their energy. Anyone/anything that helped contribute to the spellwork should be thanked for their contribution.
Then you light the candle. Light the candle every day that they're away until it melts completely or until they return. Repeat the process if it burns out before they return.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
A note:
This spell, the process, and the ingredients used are what works for me. You can use whatever crystals, color of candle, herbs, etc. work best for you. If there are herbs, crystals, etc. that you have a deeper connection with, please feel free to use those rather than what I listed. Magick is so personal and the spells you create should be something you can connect with. This is just what works best for me.

Money Bowl Spell
Tumblr media
Picture from pixabay.com
A money bowl is a very populair way to do a money spell. But I've made my own variant on this, combining the Money Bowl spell with Candle Magic. I try to redo this spell every time month or whenever I feel like it is time to do so.
What do we need
A green bowl
A green candle
Basil (for money)
Cinnamon (Stick or powder, for prosperity)
Rice (for succes)
Citrine, Sunstone or Obisidian (for abundance, optional)
A few coins (or one, depending on the size of your vessel)
Frankincense or sandalwood incence sticks (for cleansing)
The process
Cast a protective circle (or light your protective candle, click here for how I made mine)
Cleanse your bowl with the incence, let it burn down while you work on your Money spell
Put the rice in the green bowl
Add the Basil and Cinnamon. You can also grind the basil with a mortar and pestle if you have a small bowl.
Add your coins to the bowl, leave some room in the middle
Put your green candle in the bowl. Optionally, you can also carve a sigil or rune for prosperity, abundance or money in the candle.
Light your candle, burn it for however long you like.
Put the bowl on your altar and light the candle whenever you feel like you need an extra boost money-wise.
That is how I make my Money Bowl Spell! Like always, I encourage mixing and matching to suit your personal practice. I hope that my personal Money Bowl Spell inspires you to make your own! Blessed Be!

My GTFO Powder. Spell?
Eh. Either way, every now and then, something mean comes into my home - mean, rude, leering, giving me Uncomfy Vibes, ya'll know what I mean.
Not necessarily evil. But not really nice, either.
And entirely unwelcome.
So, I grab a bowl. Or those coffee filters, the white papery things that are shaped like a bowl or a cup.
Then I raid the kitchen's spice rack.
I say, follow your heart. Pick out the spicy ones (like cayenne), the pungent ones (like dill powder), and/or sweet ones (like sugar).
Whatever feels right, babe.
What I usually grab are: black pepper, salt, cinnamon, mugwort, cayenne, ghost pepper, sugar, cloves, sage, brown sugar, the burnt bread crumbs in the toaster, coffee grounds, catnip, and if any of the smokers in my life have visited recently - and I'm particularly uneasy - I also throw in cigarette ash.
I won't make this into an EVEN LONGER post by listing out all of the magical properties of these herbs and spices. Take it as encouragement to do independent research!
Tumblr media
But the most important thing is that it feels right, you know? And as it turns out, most if not all household spices and herbs CAN BE USED for protection and positive energy.
Once you've got your shit together, start putting in as much of the ingredients as YOU want into the container of your choice.
Follow your heart. Don't overthink it.
When you're done, mix it together.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: If you end up using your bare hands/fingers to mix it all up (like me, the local barbarian), don't forget to thoroughly wash your hands. And for the love of FUCK, do not rub your eyes with your dirty, spiced up hands! (also like me, the local idiot)
Anyway. You picked out ingredients that vibe with you, that feel right and you know will suit your purpose: chasing off this disembodied energy spirit asshole intruder.
You've mixed it up.
You washed your hands. And probably sneezed a lot, because you're dealing with powders that can tickle your nose hairs.
Congratulations!
You've made your own GTFO Powder.
Or repellent. Whatever you wanna call it.
Now start throwing it around your house; your windows, doorways (but leave the front door alone for now). Every corner of every room, from the attic to the basement - don't overlook any space, and give special attention to areas that creep you out.
If you need support, bring in whoever you need to back you up. Ohana, bitch!
Or your bros. Nakama. Doesn't matter.
If you can't do this alone, then DON'T and go fetch your trusted people. Sailor Moon taught us the power of love and friendship, you know this shit.
Returning to the subject -
As you're doing this, say whatever you need to say: pick a song, a poem, prayer, or just bitch at the entity for disturbing your peace and to leave you and yours alone.
Yes. I am the last option. There's a lot of swearing and gamer-level trash talk, because I'm not a classy witch.
As my previous therapist said: "You're a mess, girl!"
I'm getting sidetracked: at this point, you've hunted down every last scrap of Bad, Awful, No-Good energy. You've chased it all around your house, and made your displeasure known (in the way that suits you, that feels right).
You could also (safely!!) burn it, if your smoke alarm won't scream at you. I've had the smoke cause a bad spirit to gag, which was a wild experience, lemme tell you.
Anyway: you did the thing.
Now, backtrack.
Go your front door, say: "Get out, and don't come back!" or whatever pleases you.
And open the door.
Give slight pause, enough for someone to bolt outside (those with psychic sight might see a shadow running out, don't be spooked), and then douse your front door with the powder.
If you have a yard, and want to be through, buckle in:
Because you could stop here.
Lots of folks do, it's normal.
But I like to make sure I can go outside and touch grass without being jumped, you know? Because I have a yard, unlike the cool people with their fancy (or shoebox) apartments.
So.
From your front door, step outside and continue. Do as you did inside: throw the GTFO Powder around your porch, and start sprinkling it outside your house's walls.
Maybe rub the powder into the brick or wood, and on the windows trace protective symbols on the glass.
If you have the time, do this three times.
Then expand the protected space:
You're going to establish three rings (or boxes) from the immediate outside structure of your house; to the middle, and finally the outer layer - if you have a fence, use it as the final "wall" of protection.
If you have a gate, again: leave it for last.
For all three parts/circles/boxes that ripple outwards from your house, I strongly recommend doing each part three times, as I previously explained. Make the "lines" thick.
Again, use music, prayer, whatever you want. Whatever gives you strength.
Once you've finished each of the three parts: the house's immediate outside, the middle, and the outer layer/fence.
Then go to the gate, bid the spirit to "leave my goddamn yard, ya creep" (or as YOU want), open the gate for 'em, and then powder up your gate.
Finally, finally, face outside the gate and say a third farewell to the spirit, and close your gate.
If you don't live in a house, you can stop at the front door:
Just say goodbye as needed (two more times, if I'm keeping track) (or three times) (remember, do what feels right),
throw a bit of powder in it's "face" if you wanna be spiteful (like me) and close&lock the door.
Done. Complete. You did it.
Go rest, eat, hydrate. Chill. You used a lot of energy by being a badass witch.
Every now and then, refresh the protections.
Like. Every 3-6 months. Or as needed.
You have my permission to take this bit of magic and make it yours. Add in charms, rattles, your pets, bells, knot magic, candles, plushies, and even rename it - it's barely named as is, to be frank.
But could you let me know? I'd love to see how it evolves over time, and how it changes to suit the witch using it.
Have fun. Go terrorize your unwanted "houseguest".
Bye.

🌳Tree Spirit Protection Charm🌲
To rid your dwelling place of bad spirits.
Ingredients:
⭐ Nine small pieces of wood, one from each of the sacred trees;
Birch, Alder, Willow, Oak, Holly, Hazel, Apple, Ash, Rowan
⭐ An item that symbolizes your home
⭐ A white candle
⭐ A white cord
Rise early in the morning and take a cleansing bath or shower. Gather your wood pieces, house symbol, and white candle. Go to either a group of trees or a spot near one of the sacred trees. The location can be outside your home, or somewhere far away. Place on the ground your home symbol and candle. Then arrange the nine pieces of wood around your house symbol and candle in a circle. Light the candle. Pick up the first piece of wood and chant;
Scared tree of ancient time, Protect and guard my own abode.
Put the piece of wood back and blow out the candle. Re-light the candle and pick up the second piece of wood, repeat the chant, put the piece of wood back, and blow out the candle. Do this with all the pieces of wood and then bury the home symbol within the circle. Place the candle over the buried spot and light it while you reflect upon the magic of the trees. Once you feel like you are done say an ending prayer or chant that you resonate with the most for example; so mote it be, blessed be, etc. Blow out the candle and dispose of it whichever way you like.
Now take the pieces of sacred wood home. Once home, thread or wrap around each piece of wood using a white cord and keep them in an important place in your home.
