It's Time for Samhain! (Oct 31- Nov 1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is Samhain? In the Celtic calendar, Samhain marks the end of summer and the harvest season, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter months. It falls opposite Beltane on May 1, which represents the beginning of spring and the life-filled growing season.
It’s believed that the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest on Samhain. Historically, people were worried that they would encounter ornery spirits if they ventured outside on Samhain night, so they dressed as ghosts or wore masks to disguise themselves. Folks would leave treats on their front porch or place an extra setting at the table to welcome any friendly spirits who stopped by. You can see how these Samhain rituals easily morphed into our modern-day version of trick-or-treating in costume.
Nighttime bonfires were another of the long-standing Samhain rituals - this one was thought to help combat the impending darkness of winter and the fearful chill that accompanied the idea of roaming spirits. Because the veil between living and dead is believed to be the thinnest on this night, Samhain is also a powerful night for divination and spellcasting by candlelight.
Usual Symbols of Samhain:
Ale or Mead
Pumpkins
Skulls
Besom or Broom
Beans
Cauldron
Bats
Keys
Squash
Pomegranate
Nuts
Apples and Cider
Bones
Herbs and Plants for Samhain:
Rosemary – Associated with remembrance and is needed during this season in taking time to honor the memories of our ancestors and other lost loved ones. Can be used in an incense blend and at ancestor altar
Fall Flowers – Includes flowers like marigolds and chrysanthemums. Are associated with protection and chrysanthemums come in handy with connecting to the spirit world
Apples (the fruit, branches and blossoms) – Is considered sacred to a lot of gods. A good apple harvest means that the gods have shown the community their favor. You can use apples in different rituals, especially divination
Pomegranates – Is associated with the realm of the underworld and helps with communication with the dead. It is also associated with fertility of the fall.
Squashes, Pumpkins and Gourds – Is associated with abundance and provides sustenance for your family when the fields become bare and covered in snow. Is linked to psychic awareness and development and protection.
Mugwort – Is associated with divination and dreaming. Using Mugwort baths or incenses in the rituals can focus on treating depression, especially with the seasons changing
Rowan Trees – The branches and berries are a way to keep evil spirits out of your house and are associated with good health. If you plant a tree near a grave, it will prevent the dead from rising.
Sage – Is associated with cleansing and grounding. Is a great incense to cleanse your home to bring in the new and out with the old
Hawthorn – Has been associated with the gateway between humans and the spirit world. Is also rumored to an area where you can see fairies.
Crystals for Samhain:
Amethyst – Aids in opening one’s third eye and is valuable to be able to see Samhain’s spirits around
Black Obsidian – Is great for grounding and protect from evil spirits. Can be used in scrying when speaking to deities and spirits of Samhain
Citrine – Is used to honor the sun. Aids in prosperity spells and carries joy
Black Tourmaline – Wards off unwanted spirits from your property and can be buried into the ground to protect from psychic attacks and spirit intrusion
Orange Calcite – Orange is a sacred color to Samhain. This stone is associated with one’s sacral chakra and can cleanse and align reproductive organs, sexuality and get creativity flowing
Bloodstone – Known to heal cardiovascular illness and disease. Can help with ancestry links and work
Spirit Quartz – Is great in helping communicate with the spirits of Samhain and releasing old and toxic habits
Lepidolite – Used to appease the fairies that roam during Samhain
Serpentine – Is associated with snakes and aids in remembering past lives. Loki seems to like this stone and may be great to use for him if you work with him during this season
Dragonstone – Dragons are guardians of the earth, spirits of place, and connect us to Mother Nature. Helps say goodbye to the old years and our old selves
Skull shaped Stones – Since skulls are symbols of Samhain, skull shaped stone can help with symbolism during this holiday. They represent the life-death-rebirth cycle, wisdom and our ancestors
Spells and Rituals:
A Samhain Tea (Apple and Hawthorn Berry)
1 apple, sliced
2 Tablespoon dried hawthorn berries (or 4 Tablespoons fresh)
1 cinnamon stick
A pinch of cloves
4 cups water
Honey, to taste (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a small stockpot.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
Strain the plant material from the tea, then transfer the tea into two mugs.
Enjoy one for yourself, and leave the other on your table or front porch to nourish any wandering spirits who may pass while the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest.
A Pumpkin Spell for Prosperity
A pumpkin
Some paint
Go to the pumpkin patch (or local store) and select a pumpkin. Or let the pumpkin choose you.
Bring it home and paint prosperity symbols on it – money signs, runes for prosperity or harvest glyphs (whatever means prosperity to you).
Then place by your front door to invite prosperous vibes into your home this Samhain season.
Bonfire Release Purification Spell
Paper
Pen
Source of fire (bonfire, fireplace, candle flame)
Gather your materials and sit by the fire.
Take a few minutes to just listen to the fire crackling.
Gaze into the flames and connect with this powerful element.
Next begin to think about what habit or person you are releasing this Samhain. Think about why you’re purifying your life from this thing or person.
Then write the habit or person down on the piece of paper.
Fold it away from you 3 times.
Hold it in your hands and allow all of the negative thoughts and energies inside of you to “drain” out of you and into the paper.
Then throw it in the fire and say,
“After this Samhain, never again. Never again. I release _________ from my life by the power of the Samhain fire. So, mote it be.”
How to Make a Samhain Altar
Beautiful autumn leaves or flowers that you collect on a nature walk
A candle
A mugwort bundle
A string of rowan beads
A bowl of apples or a small pumpkin
A hawthorn wand or bowl of freshly picked hawthorn berries
A picture of your ancestors
To make an altar, first find a corner of your home or a table surface where you can arrange a few treasures. You don’t need a ton of space. You could use the top of a dresser, the corner of your desk, an unused side table, etc.
After you’ve assembled your altar, spend some time sitting quietly in the space. Light the candle and/or mugwort wand, sip on a cup of Apple & Hawthorn Berry Tea and meditate on this energetically powerful day.
I could find specific written instructions for a crystal grid but I found a video!
Crystal Grid for Samhain
Let's get ready for Samhain and have a great and safe time!

Explain the basic: Herbs,Oils and Crystals.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: All the things in this post are based on research and personal experience. As much as I could be a teacher, I suggest you find many resources for knowledge to develop your own experiences.
I will do another post about each of those three things to let you have some guide lines that you can follow, especially for the crystals because some have different ways to be clensed, and if you clense it with the wrong thing, it could damage the crystal (nothing will happen if you break or damage a crystal, but we have to take care of our things).
Tumblr media
In witchcraft, the selection and use of herbs, oils, and crystals often depend on an individual's belief system, intuition, and the specific intentions or goals of their practice. Herbs, oils, and crystals are tools we can use in any type of ritual or spell.
Herbs:
Magical Properties: Different herbs are believed to possess unique magical properties. For instance, rosemary might be associated with protection, lavender with relaxation and purification, and sage with cleansing negative energies.
Ritual Use: Herbs can be used in rituals, spells, and potions. They may be burned as incense, infused in oils or teas, or sprinkled during ceremonies to invoke specific energies or intentions.
Healing: Herbalism is often a part of witchcraft, where herbs are used for medicinal purposes. Herbal remedies may be prepared for physical healing, emotional balance, or spiritual well-being.
Oils: Disclaimer: Make sure you research the oils you buy/use because some oils can damage or hurt your skin in a really bad way. as well as some aromatherapy oils that can hurt your pet (if you have one).
Anointing: Oils are commonly used for anointing tools, candles, or individuals during rituals. They are believed to imbue objects or people with specific energies or intentions.
Aromatherapy: Essential oils are used for their scents, which are thought to influence moods, emotions, and energies. Different scents are associated with various properties, such as calming, energizing, or purifying.
Crystals:
Energies and Properties: Crystals are believed to have their own unique energies and properties. For example, amethyst might be associated with spiritual growth and intuition, while quartz might be seen as a general-purpose amplifier of energies.
Charging and Cleansing: Crystals are often charged with specific intentions and cleansed of any negative energies. They can be placed under moonlight or sunlight, smudged with sage, or buried in earth to reset their energies.
Meditation and Ritual: Crystals are frequently used in meditation practices or incorporated into rituals. They may be held, worn as jewelry, or placed in specific patterns to enhance spiritual work.
Tumblr media
As always, I will love to hear your thoughts! and if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them! If you liked it, leave a comment or reblog (that is always appreciated!). and have a wonderful day or night!

Buyers Beware - Andara "Crystals"
TLDR: It's glass slag with buzzwords sold for an iPad's worth of money.
Explanation and examples below the cut.
Archive of post.
Andara crystals are said to contain the prima-materia of alchemic fame, found by a Native shaman on a sacred site near a spiritual vortex, often claimed to be Mt. Shasta in California. Andara crystal is said to be both Atlanean and Lemurian; a stone of ascended masters, saints, and angels that vibrates in higher densities. It can clear "electromagnetic smog," activates and aligns all chakras, and accelerates spiritual growth. They are also said to be monatomic, completely missing the point of the term, which is often applied to gases made of one atom, such as helium.
What is slag? Smelt byproduct, which is notably not natural crystal or glass. Andara crystals have comparable composition to artificial soda-lime glasses over natural glasses like obsidian. Glass is not monatomic; it is commonly made from silicon dioxide, the same material as quartz.
Do you want to know how much they sell for?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Below is a search for glass slag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty similar in appearance, huh? That yellow piece is very pretty; I bet I could take it for 12$ and sell it as "Golden Light Pleiadean Ascended 6D Shaman Monatomic Andara Crystal" for 500$, and someone would buy it for that amount.
Is this worth it because they've shoved a bunch of spiritual words into the title and description promising the sun and moon to you if you pony up the cash for them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reason why they price them so high is people do buy them at these prices, because many people have no idea what they're actually buying.
You're not buying communication to angels. You're not buying a spiritual accelerant. You're not buying a chakra opener. You're buying well-advertised glass.

Crystals are used by many witches. They are sold at multiple metaphysical shops as jewelry, spells , altar pieces and more. But like many industries in capitalism the crystal industry is exploitive and harmful to the environment. From the mistreatment of workers to illegal mining practices there are many reasons we need to be more careful about buying crystals.
While this might upset many witches, I personally do not see buying crystals at the cost of whole communities having contaminated drinking water and the mistreatment and exploitation of people to be worth it.
I am, however, a big fan of finding your own rocks and crystals out in nature during hikes and walks on the beach. Finding pretty rocks and things such as sea glass to use in your practice is both cheaper and, in my opinion, far more personalized.

Crystals 101
There is a lot of information when it comes to crystals, shapes, lattice patterns, do's, don'ts, pairings, etc. This is the start of lessons on crystals.
Crystal Lattice Patterns
The six crystal lattice patterns include the following:
HEXAGONAL crystals have an interior structure that resembles a 3-D hexagon. Hexagonal crystals help with manifestation.
ISOMETRIC crystals have an interior cubic structure. These crystals can improve situations and amplify energies.
MONOCLINIC crystals have a 3-D parallelogram structure. They are protective crystals. ORTHORHOMBIC crystals have a diamond-shaped crystalline pattern. They cleanse, clear, and remove blockages.
TETRAGONAL crystals have a rectangular interior structure. These crystals are attractors; they make things more attractive and they help you attract things to you.
TRICLINIC crystals have an interior structure with three inclined axes. These crystals ward off unwanted energies or help retain energies you’d like to keep.
Shapes
You can find crystals cut into many different shapes, including spheres and polyhedrons, which have varying properties. Working with stones cut into these shapes will impart the properties of both the crystal and the sacred shape.
DODECAHEDRON The dodecahedron is associated with the element of the Ethers and connects you to intuition and higher realms.
HEXAHEDRON The hexahedron, or cube, represents the element of Earth. It is grounding and stable.
ICOSAHEDRON The icosahedron is linked to the element of Water. It connects you to change and flow.
MERKABA The merkaba is a 3-D star. It contains all five of the above polyhedrons within it and therefore combines all the effects of each. It is also associated with the energy of sacred truth and eternal wisdom.
OCTAHEDRON The octahedron represents the element of Air and promotes compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and love.
SPHERE The sphere has the energy of completeness, wholeness, and oneness.
Common stones that can't get wet include:
amber, turquoise, red coral, fire opal, moonstone, calcite, kyanite, kunzite, angelite, azurite, selenite. A good rule of thumb: Many stones that end in “ite” are not water-friendly.
Here are some of the stones that should be kept for only a short time in the sun with partial shade, if at all, for a quick five-minute charge. Or better yet, charge them under the full moon, even if it’s cloudy.
Amegreen - The color will fade when the sun too long. Made up of amethyst and prasiolite (green amethyst)
Amethyst - A member of the quartz family. Color will fade in the sun since the color comes from the iron in it.
Ametrine - The color will fade when in sun too long. Made up of amethyst and citrine.
Apatite - The color will fade in the sun.
Apophyllite - Can become brittle in the sun and color can fade.
Aquamarine - Direct sunlight will fade the blue to white if kept too long.
Auralite 23 - Primarily composed of amethyst, so it can fade.
Aventurine - A member of the quartz family and can fade in color.
Beryl - Can fade and get brittle in the sun.
Calcite - Can fade and get brittle in the sun.
Celestite - The blue will turn to white in the sun and get brittle and possibly break.
Chrysoprase - A member of the quartz family, it’s a green chalcedony, and it can fade or get brittle and crack.
Citrine - Since it’s a form of quartz, it will fade to a clear color within 4 hours in the sun
Clear Quartz - Can only withstand about 2 hours in the sun. Can get brittle and crack or break.
Fluorite - No more than 15 minutes in the sun. Gets very hot.
Hiddenite - The color will fade.
Kunzite - Will fade to white if kept in the sun too long.
Opal - Will lose its color in the sun. But okay in water.
Prasiolite - This is a green amethyst, and the color will fade.
Rose Quartz - Will fade in color in the sun.
Sapphire - Will lose whatever color sapphire it is.
Spirit Quartz - Will fade in color and clusters could ignite if in the sun too long.
Smoky Quartz - Loses its color to become grey or brown
Super Seven - Will fade in color.
Topaz - The color will fade when kept in the sun for more than 8 hours. A yellow topaz will turn brown and a deeper color topaz will turn maroon.

Everything You Need to Know About Crystals: Moonstone (White)
Moonstone (The Sacred Stone of the Moon)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Color: White, cream, yellow, blue, green
Rarity: Easy to obtain
Hardiness: 6.5
Type: Oligoclase/ Feldspar
Chakra Association: Brow, Heart, Root, Third Eye, Sacral, Solar Plexus
Deities: All Lunar Deities, Diana, Selene, Artemis, Isis, Chandra
Birthstone: June
Astrological Signs: Cancer
Element: Water
Planet: Moon
Origin: Australia, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, USA
Powers: Femininity, Calmness, Balance, Luck, Intuition, Healing, Sensual, Patience, Reproductive Health
Crystals It Works Well With: Aquamarine, garnet, pearl
How It is Created: Moonstone is a type of feldspar composed of potassium aluminum silicate. It can be found in a number of colors, but all examples demonstrate a particular sheen known as labradorescence; an effect also found in labradorite and blue moonstone. Labradorescence is a light effect caused by parallel hairlike structures laid down within the crystal matrix, which reflect light back and forth, creating different-colored effects, including blue, yellow, silvery gray, and white.
History: Moonstone is the sacred stone of India. During the earliest traditions, the gem was said to have been embedded in the forehead of Ganesh, the four-handed god of the moon, since the beginning of time. It was written in Hindu mythology that moonstone is made from moonbeams, thus its luster.
The magnificent gem is never displayed outside for sale unless placed on a yellow cloth, as yellow is a sacred color. According to other legends, Moonstone can give gifts of prophecy and clairvoyance to the wearer. It could also clear the mind for the wearer to welcome wisdom. But to unlock this ability, Moonstone must be placed in their mouths during the full moon. Since ancient Egypt it is considered as a spiritual stone as it is seen as the gem of protection for night travelers.
Since Moonstone looks a lot like the moonshine, ancient Romans believed that it was formed from moonlight. If you look at the gem closely, you’ll see a dance of light that lurks on the insides of the gem. Ancient Greeks merged the names of the goddess of love (Aphrodite) and the goddess of the moon (Selene) and christened Moonstone as “Aphroselene”. While the Romans believed that the gem exhibits the image of their moon goddess, Diana.
It is also known as an aphrodisiac and when worn by two people, they will fall passionately in love when the moon is high. Moonstone was once called the “Travelers Stone” as it is said to protect those who travel at night, especially at sea.
What It Can Do:
When worn, can attract true love and arouse passion
If you give your lover a moonstone during the full moon, there will be passion between you always
Can settle disagreements and return things to peaceful status
Sewn into garments can enhance fertility
Wearing moonstone protects sensitive emotions
Enhances divination, prophetic dreams and prevents nightmares
Great for meditation and scrying
Represents yin and attracts peaceful energy
Protects travelers at night and by sea
Considered good luck
Balances male-female energies and aids men who want to get in touch with their feminine side
Affects the female reproductive cycle and alleviates menstrual-related diseases and tensions
Helps with digestive and reproductive systems, assimilates nutrients, eliminates toxins and fluid retention, and alleviates degenerative conditions of the skin, hair, eyes and fleshy organs such as the liver and pancreas.
How to Get the Best Out Of: Wear as a ring or place on the appropriate body part, would recommend the forehead, for spiritual experiences, and solar plexus or heart for emotions. Women may need to remove Moonstone at full moon.
How to Cleanse and Charge: Moonstone is relatively soft stone, 6 on the Mohs scale, so it should be handled with care as it can be easily scratched or crushed. Moonstone should be stored separate from other jewelry in its own soft bag or lined box and should not be worn while performing strenuous tasks that could result in it getting bumped or scratched. It can be cleaned with plain water and a soft cloth. If it gets scratched, take it to a jeweler to have it polished out.
Charge your moonstone in the light of the waxing moon and keep it out of direct sunlight.
Crystal Grid: N/A Couldn't find one that wasn't too complex @_@

How to write a spell
Location
Timing
Trust
Why
Location - Find a special location to write your spell maybe in nature? At home?
Timing - Choose a day of the week or moon cycle that best suits your intentions.
Trust - Trust the Universe, despite our spell work, sometimes the Universe has something else in store for us.
Why - Ask yourself why you want to write a specific spell. Make sure your intentions are pure.
More "writing a spell" tips:
Draw a sigil
What type of spell is this? (ex; banishing, sweetening, binding, protection, freezing, or luck)
List ingredients and their intentions. Write intentions in the form of affirmations
List candles and color meanings
Does your spell require you to cast a circle
What utensils does your spell require
Is this spell necessary, does it require magic to achieve
Compose an appropriate chant, preferably one that rhymes
Is your chant specific and coincide with your intentions
Include any actions (ex. burning a Bay Leaf or adding a feather)
Are you inviting an entity to aid in this spell? (ex. God or Goddess)
If anyone has anything else to add, please feel free, I may have missed a few things.
